here’s the thing. interview with the vampire is primarily about LOUIS. from season 3 onwards, lestat is going to be the main character. yes sam is an amazing actor and yes he deserved his nomination, but jacob deserved one too. when the show flips the switch to revolve around lestat when season 3 comes out sam reid is going to be getting award after award MARK MY WORDS. people expressing hurt about the main black lead getting snubbed by every award show for two seasons is absolutely justified. jacob anderson has given one of the most outstanding performances television has seen in years and he deserves recognition for it. delainey hayles joined the project under difficult circumstances and was given only a FEW DAYS to prepare and still gave a fantastic performance as claudia. assad zaman made armand his own and some of his most memorable scenes are the very first ones he shot in episode 5. not one single nomination for any of them. deeply disappointing.

I think a lot of people in the iwtv fandom pretend they care about racism until it uplifts their white fave or affects the actor of a character or character they don't like or care about. I wish you people would be normal.

interview with the vampire (2022) deserves better promotion
another corn on the plate situation: amc's marketing strategy, if it even exists, sucks.
we've known this since season 1. personally, i was lucky enough to get on-board with the series early enough back while it was airing in 2022 because my algorithm knows me, knows i like (queer) dramatic pieces of media that will fuck me up emotionally for the rest of my life because i got too attached to the unstable character(s). i then convinced my equally insane friend to watch it with me (didn't take much convincing, honestly) and we've been hooked ever since, annoying people enough to tune in too.
and i know i'm not the only one. most of this show's marketing relies on its passionate fanbase, which amc is lucky to have, but mouth-to-ear promotion becomes frustrating when it seems to be the primary, and almost only, marketing tool (i say “almost” here because outlets like tvtime – thank you – have been doing the most to feed us interviews).
as of now, we've mostly gotten 2-pixel quality interviews over zoom. while i appreciate watching them because it's “better than nothing” and i love getting more content of them, whose interest does it pique other than people already invested in the fandom? we need more mainstream media news outlets to interview the cast – amc headquarters should consider themselves lucky to have cast members who love each other so much, why not use that to their advantage? give them a buzzfeed puppy interview! a gq agree to disagree interview! jacob anderson is your main actor, get him an elle song association interview! ladbible's food battle – uk vs australia vs america? get them to guess parisian vs new orleans slang? best friends test?
what will it take for amc to invest in a show that clearly deserves its already-received praise to gain a wider audience?
not only such exposure would gather more fans, but it would attract award critics attention – which the crew & cast deserve in masses. and if they wanna talk money, well, they should know the show's potential would bring a lot more capital. (it's already keeping them afloat...)
marketing investment goes a long way.

If you want to talk about these characters and actors, you need to acknowledge intersecctionality. Yes, they might go through similar situations since many of them are minorities, but there are specific things that only a woman, black, dark-skinned, Muslim, person with an Arabic or overall ethnic name will face. You need to recognize ALL of these particularities and not only the ones that are convenient to you.

So looks like IWTV as a whole was snubbed for the Globes this time and that’s why I’ve been saying AMC deserves blame. Awards are not based off fairness. They’re a rigged machine based on racism, politics, and bribes. The fact Squid Game was nominated for a Globe and the new season isn’t even out tells you that Netflix coughed up a shameless chunk of change.
AMC isn’t doing that for Interview and that’s the issue. In order for Jacob, Delainey, or even Assad to be recognized they have to pay for it and they’re not going to. I don’t believe they don’t have enough money, they’re just cheap and don’t value the queer show led by non-white actors. If Mayfair Witches was better received critically it would’ve been nominated to the moon. How AMC treats Jelainey especially is visible everywhere from how poorly they run their social media account to how poorly they market the show and that’s where the anti-blackness comes to play which is different from the Islamophobia Assad faces but still, lack of care overall towards their actors of color.
It is up to AMC to push for their actors of color to receive the accolades they deserve, but they won’t because Interview is not their priority while Jacob is lead. Now whether that changes for s3 well… I think the Critics Choice lets you know what they’ll pay for.

We all had a tough end of the week, so I thought I would put together something about my IWTV set lurking experience in Prague, hopefully to cheer someone up and show you that the people working on our little show are incredible, everything is well thought out, and we have a lot to look forward to.
Locations
I am confident that Prague will be a good substitute for Paris. I love this post comparing Prague's Théâtre des Vampires location with a real Le Grand Guignol in Paris. But similar care is given to other locations as well.
I like to joke that I enjoyed a month-long tour of Prague's most famous landmarks, only to have the actual filming take place in nondescript alleyways right next to them. But it makes perfect sense. They want to capture the nicer and older parts of the city that suit them, but not anything that would tell you it's Prague.
Production design, costumes
I saw them build everything from scratch on several sets. And I'm in awe. From putting up posters that will probably only appear in the background of a single shot, to street names that fit the exact topography of Paris and make sense in the context of the scenes that take place on them, to storefronts that they really didn't have to pay that much attention to, or a menu at Le Dakar Café that you could only read up close, but someone took the trouble to make it anyway?
And maybe this attention to detail is normal, I don't know, but I still think Mara and her team deserve all the praise they get.
S1 showed us how much attention is paid to the costumes. I can assure you that has not changed. All the hats, coats, capes and dresses. I can't tell you how many times I've been pleasantly surprised. By the choice of colors for Lestat. By how beautifully all of Armand's black clothes come to life with little details.
People
There are so many people (and I mean SO many) working on the show and they all know exactly what is expected of them, everything runs like a well-oiled machine. I haven't seen any problems, any conflicts, any excesses.
I'm not under any illusion that everything was trouble-free, but really the only complaints I heard were about the horrendously hellish schedule (I guess that's normal) and then the occasional person wishing they had finished earlier (they never finished earlier).
They are all heroes to me.
Directors
Levan is the only one I saw. He seems so focused and professional. His "rolling...and action" is unforgettable.
Actors
After six locations and about fifteen scenes (and countless rehearsals and takes), I think I managed to get at least some idea of them, and yes, they really seem to be such nice people.
- Jacob, I don't envy him at all the emotional strain of playing Louis, but at the same time I love his portrait of Louis so much.
- Sam's transformation into Lestat is something to behold.
- Assad was the only one present on every set. I don't think we've fully realized how big a role he's going to have (at least in S2).
- Delainey, Ben, Roxane and everyone else 💜
Scenes
They were far from finished when the strike started, but at least (in my opinion) they got to the last block of episodes.
I'm not going to pretend to have a concrete idea of what to expect from S2 based on what little I saw. But I do have a few guesses, and I'm insanely excited and thrilled. And, in the case of the 1700s flashbacks, totally confused. I can't believe they're going to do so many unexpected things, or other things so soon.
I truly believe that S2 will not disappoint any of us. We just have to wait a little longer. But if this strike means that everyone gets a better deal and the studios are forced to change their ways, it will be worth the wait.

I am ill. Not okay. I’ve cried and thrown a tissue box at the wall. Then proceeded to scream at said wall for twenty minutes. Yes I am melodramatic, no I don’t care. I am still in therapy for a reason. Nevertheless, this episode was bonkers, off the wall batshit insane. Like genuinely so good that it almost adds to the tragedy of it all.
Here are my immediate and unfiltered thoughts from my post episode freak out that I have to put somewhere because if I don’t, I will, in fact, explode.
Warning: spoilers up the wazoo, a lot of profanity
First and foremost: Daniel, old Maniel, I can count on you to always keep it a buck, and for that I thank you.
Armand you piece of fucking shit I swear on everything that is holy, you are no longer babygirl, you bitch ass hoe, go stick that fucking doe eyed face up someone else ass you stupid fucking piece of shit. “i cOULD nOt pReVEnt iT” FUCK YOU MEAN YOU COULDNT PREVENT IT YOURE 500 YEARS OLD, YOU SOLD THEM OUT TO BEGIN WITH. YOU STOP TIME, CAN CONTROL BODIES, PLANT IDEAS INTO PEOPLE HEADS, READ PEOPLES MINDS AND THE BITTY BABY VAMPIRE ARMAND COULDNT DO ANYTHIGN ABOUT IT? SUCK MY DICK AND KISS ME MERRY GO TRH THAG SHIT ELSEWHERE (shout out Assad for really giving his all with the whole puppy dog eyes this entire episode 10/10 would fall for them if not the circumstances). I can’t believe I actually was defending this dude a few episodes ago, I literally can’t defend anything else from here moving forward.
Claudia and Madeline deserve to watch these assholes burn and the fact they died such painful deaths should warrant the gods to set the sky alight with constellations of their love. They were allowed NOTHING but a small taste of happiness before it was shredded away from them. No one is EVER gonna villainize them, not to me, not ever. Roxanne absolutely was incredible, and Delainey, in the coming future, better up there as an A-list actor because she has been that astoundingly good. (That goes for everyone here honestly, but Delainey and Roxanne really deserve their flowers here).
Santiago has a special place in hell. I simply cannot wait to watch him die. Decapitation is too kind for him, put him through pain and fury before sending him to hell. Ben Daniels you son of a bitch you played the villain so well. I damn near jumped through the screen when he began to read Claudia’s diaries with a shitty NOLA accent, I have never been so livid in my life.
The rest of Theatre: “All of you motherfuckers, fuck you, die slow.” -Tupac Shakur
Louis GET UP LEAVE YOUR WIFE DUDE YOU KNOW ITS BULLSHIT and honestly I’m not even going to rag on him this episode because the poor man has gone through too much. Jacob was absolutely brilliant in all of this, and honestly I literally will never stop talking about the performances in this show. Regardless, the upcoming rage is justified and I when get to watch him massacre these assholes, I will cackle with the same glee a schoolboy has after he disintegrates ants with a magnifying glass.
And finally Lestat. He rose on the third day and served cunt and made me ball like the mommy issues toting bitch I am. Sam, my man, you knocked it out of the fucking ballpark. Magnificent. Lestat, fucking bastard. You messy bitch. When you get out of whatever the Theatre is doing to you big man, I better see you read Armand to filth. I better see the same from the other. They both deserve to be dragged to hell and back.
Also Daniel Hart is a genius, just really fills your soul with dread this entire episode, I mean the score was filthy, vivid, and hauntingly gorgeous. The violins at the beginning were nasty work and had me fully hypnotized for the entire 50 minutes.
SFX is killing it, everytime, making it all believable and absolutely the worst someone could imagine it to be. I full body contorted at the sight of the sliced ankles.
Shoutout costume department also did its thing. Santiago’s costume was top tier camp. And Lestat’s suit was absolutely everything. Gender envy 11/10.
I could sit here all day and go on about how all the cast and crew did a fucking fantastic job. Like you can really tell they put their heart and soul into this episode.
I mean dear god I’m going to be in shambles for the next two years this episode was insane.

Fr I think Sam is great but when a show with mostly poc for the main roles who are all excellent and none of them get nominated it really sucks and it's just the white actor (again love Sam but it just jumps out), especially when looking at who was nominated in those categories and Jacob, Delainey and Assad definitely went toe to toe and stepped on a few too.
Yeah i love Sam and of course his performance was amazing but nominating the show and a white actor who had a minor role this season while snubbing the black lead and non-white supporting actors who had a much bigger role than Sam is a blatant sign of racism in the industry. Jacob's snub is particularly egregious but Assad and Delainey deserve better too. This show unquestionably has some of the best acting of the past decade, most shows don't come even close

IWTV awards nominations is why i have more than half of this fandom blocked on tw (and tho i didnt check here yet maybe i will eventually have a lot too bc i heard tumblr is more of the same as tw).
Really sad that Jacob, Delainey, Assad and Eric didn't get nominated but really annoying seeing people getting mad that Sam is when we should be happy bc it means the show is starting to get known/popular so if IWTV and/or Sam win smth is a good sign. But then again this would be the best chance Jacob and Delainey would had to win smth bc we dont know how things will be after season 3. I still think that those 3 will be the main leads so they definitely will still be pushed to awards. The only difference is that now Sam will be pushed as the lead actor & Jacob as the supporting lead (which maybe just like Sam he will have + chances there to win than as a lead actor)
Anyway, i was praying that Jacob stans would be better than ***** stans & wouldn't send hate to Sam bc is not his fault that CCA snubbed Jacob. Besides Jacob wouldnt be happy if he knew his bestie is being attacked by his own fandom. Once again the only sane side of the fandom is on reddit🤦 We can acknowledged there's a racism element that played on why they didn't get nominated but i also noticed people also dont wanna acknowledged that many like to use the racism card to freely hate on white people even when they didnt do anything. This is solely the CCA' judges fault. They probably didnt even bother to watch IWTV and just watched the most rated ep of S2 which i heard is the one that have more Lestat on it.
In conclusion, people getting sad or even mad that jacob did not get nominated is totally justificable. Where many of you are wrong is bringing up other actors' names in the same discurse as if they didnt deserve to get nominated bc they are white and "only appeared for like 5 minutes" as they use as an excuse to justify why Sam shouldn't be nominated. Everyone in this cast deserved to be nominated and even win.

Heya I hope your askbox isnt getting flooded with racist anons. What you've said about the award nominations and amc is so true, and while I know the systemic racism is the big issue, but a lot of SR fans really piss me off. Hope its ok to vent a lil here. Like in what fucking world does his acting measure up to what Jacob, Assad and Delainey were doing in s2??? I'm not even truly loumand shipper and I recognize that their work and chemistry was exceptional and AWARD WORTHY. I'm fine with Dreamstat's existence ig but Assad was an integral part of what made s2 shine with his accent work and micro expressions bringing so much depth to Armand. He deserves the nominations way more than SR and I'm tired of pretending they're remotely close to the same level. Even Luke who was only in 1 episode did better work with his accent and body language than SR. It feels like the bar is on the fucking ground for white men and held out of reach for poc. If they're shoving out Assad who had such a major supporting role in s2 it worries me that they'll shove out Jacob in later seasons. Sorry this got rambly!
Hey there. It's fine to ramble - I'm happy to host a venting session as long as it isn't unduly hostile and abusive. I appreciate your checking in, but, touchwood, I haven't got any racist anons, beyong the few annoying ones I published the other day.
I have a live and let live policy with people who are fans of white actors, so if someone wants to stan Sam and his work that's cool. Also fistbump for wanting to give flowers to Luke, because I agree that his work was really cool, and subtle. He put in far more craft into playing Eric's version of Daniel than Eric did in playing an Eric-as-Daniel. (In terms of giving white men flowers, round about these parts we also think Ben did some A+ homebrewed scenery mastication.)
What I am NOT cool with is when people use personal opinions and preferences to dismiss and deride structural choices by institutions.
What you said about the different places the bars are being set at is correct. And I'm pretty sure Rolin already made his intentions clear about how Jacob will be 'a supporting actor' to Sam next season.
The sad thing is that given what I know (through fannish osmosis since I refuse to read them) of the books, they could have easily treated this show as an ensemble piece from the beginning, and budgeted and contracted people accordingly. And then done justice to all of them.
My own prediction for season 3 is that white people are going to fall over themselves praising Delainey when all she will be given to do is to show up as a fridged woman for Lestat to weep over. Which - ICK.

Made the EXCELLENT choice to rewatch IWTV 2.05 and FUCK
Even better the second time ( ༎ຶ⌑༎ຶ )
I will never financially recover from it
What did we do to deserve Assad Zaman? Jacob Anderson? Eric Bogosian? Luke Brandon Field? Sam Reid?
And I know they weren’t in the episode, BUT WHAT DID WE ALSO DO TO DESERVE Bailey Bass? Delainey Hayles? Roxane Duran?
I desperately want to rewatch 2.07 too, but idk if my heart can take it yet. (o̴̶̷᷄ ᯅ o̴̶̷̥᷅)
GodDAMN.
I will never get over this show. I am so desperate for Season 3. I am apologizing a year in advance for the person I will become when it drops.

maybe my favourite performance from Assad in the entire series?
YES MINE TOO. He's excellent in the whole season (Jacob and Sam are my absolute favorites if I had to pick, but everyone in the cast with a significant role--Assad, Delainey, Ben, Roxane, Eric, Luke--was just fantastic, if there were any justice in the world they'd get the SAG Ensemble nom b/c no ensemble deserves it more), and I love the fight season (particularly for seeing a different side of Louis/Jacob), but for Assad/Armand, this scene with Daniel is IT for me.
"It just creates such a powerful juxtaposition"--YES. The easeful sense of absolute power and barely contained insanity he brings to this scene does juxtapose so well with the wounded deer quality he brings to so many other scenes, which is very fascinating. But yeah, I really really really love that scene. If I ever meet Assad I'm going through that scene line by line with him and telling him what I love about him in it. I'm doing that with Jacob and Sam for the reunion scene and the 2.7 flashbacks and like six other scenes and Delainey for her trial lines/monologues if I ever meet them too lol.
(It's probably better if I never meet them)
(x)
As you should, anon!! It's a brilliant performance in a brilliant episode in a brilliant season of TV.
