OMG!!! Hwy 18 was a NIGHTMARE!!!

It didn't need paving but somebody decided to repave it ANYWAY ---only it wasn't completely paved.

It was only half paved.

I thought we were stopped here in traffic because of a wreck or something. It turned out after this point the highway was torn up

There were no lines painted for the lanes. There wasn't even any kind of marker to tell you where the center of the lane was. There were no shoulders to pull over on. All the speed limit signs were covered up so people were just driving whatever they felt like. A lot of the stretches was nothing but black gravel. There weren't even reflectors on the guardrails so if you got too far over to the side you risk smashing into one!!

I absolutely can drive without painted lines on the highway to tell me if I am in the right spot or not. Not only that the lines give me something to focus on in areas where there is nothing to look at whatsoever.

AND I WENT THROUGH ALL THIS AFTER HAVING MY EYES DIALATED!!!

It was like 50 miles of Terror!!!!

At least I had a good check up with the eye doctor again and finally got my glaucoma meds filled.

the city where we live doesn't allow public barbecues so my brother fucking welded a grill to a handcart and now hosts "chill and grill sessions" where he sends all his friends his live location so they can hunt him down on their bikes with sausages in their backpacks while he carts it around evading the police like some sort of barbecue vigilante, grilling on the run. i have never been prouder of him

my parents had this idea that if we were allowed to have certain things in our rooms we'd never come back out

namely, for the purposes of the point I'm trying to make, my dad actively tried to keep me from having a computer in my room when I was an adult already

and it was like, when I went ahead and bought my first laptop anyway because I was sick of the arguing about it and I had money, one of the other things I did was set up a cheap TV Kiddo could watch dvds on, and a chair that Invid could sit in instead of the bunk bed, even though there was barely space to do that

because confining to my room wasn't because I had things to do in there, it was because Dad had a way of making shared spaces feel like they only belonged to him and you weren't actually allowed in there if you didn't want to engage in His Activities

plus like, if you want a gal to get art finished more quickly staring over her shoulder at the screen isn't going to help

point being if you don't want your kids to skitter off to their rooms every time you're spending time in the living room maybe don't have a rule that Dad has sole custody of the remote control and maybe don't spring chores on them every single time you see them doing "quiet" activities in your presence

WAIT I WANNA BRING UP ANOTHER THING ABOUT HOW BULLYING IS ADDRESSED IN NERDY PRUDES MUST DIE. one thing I really liked about how Max is shown as a bully is his talk with Pete at the Pasqualli's parking lot. When Pete tries to stand up to Max, Max pushes him down and emphasizes that Pete isn't a loser because of his own qualities - rather, Pete is a loser because Max simply said so.

Of course we can attribute this to Max's god complex but I think that this point in particular is less than often really brought up in teen-centered media featuring bullying: that bullying exists not because of nerdy behavior or whatever the fuck, but because bullies will it into being. And to have a BULLY of all people say that out loud - to have the main villain point out the root of their behavior without showing any kind of shame whatsoever - showcases just how much of a menace Max is.

sharing my two favorite neck stretches that my pt gave me:

chin crunches (image below is called ‘cervical chin tuck’):

1) place a rolled towel behind your head, right where the top of your neck meets your skull (so the back of your head)

2) tuck your chin towards your chest (its less about tilting your head down like you’re looking down at your feet. try thinking about pushing your chin down towards the towel as much as you can, kind of like how op’s comic looks!)

3) aim for 2 sets of 10 crunches

it’s a weird motion to get used it. i largely feel it in the muscles between my shoulder blades. this stretch has also helped me be more aware of my posture.

upper trap/neck stretch:

1) while sitting, tuck one hand under your leg

2) use your other hand to gently tilt your head to one side

3) hold for 30 seconds. repeat on the other side

(to focus the stretch on the back of your neck, while your head is tilted, turn and look at your arm pit. the gentle stretch you’re feeling should to one side of the back of your neck)

For some reason I'm still trying to watch my posture to avoid becoming a vulture.

I should just embrace it at this point. I've already mastered eating horribly and vomiting when threatened, so all I have left to figure out is flight and I'm good. I mean, it can't be that hard if *pigeons* can do it.

MXTX speaks on Jiang Cheng’s character in two places that I know: the old version of the postscript of the novel (absent from the official 7seas release) and an interview from before she left socials.

In the postscript, she only has this to say about Jiang Cheng:

Everyone should know what Jiang Cheng’s keyword is without me saying it. In the beginning, I thought with with XY’s [Xue Yang] existence, Jiang Cheng’s negative energy would definitely seem skimpy. Who knew he became the ultimate superstar of the comment section? Compared to him, XY was almost a poor, has-been idol. Only now and then would someone decide to drag him out again. Of course, in the end, under the combined PDA attacks of WWX and LWJ, the past and present superstars were obliterated.

And in this interview, she goes more in-depth. Sidenote: while I appreciate the interview for what it, I do not appreciate the ways in which they insert their own opinions about how they think MXTX should feel about Jiang Cheng into the actual interview commentary, and it shows how much of a bias even the interviewer had towards his character to have asked so many leading questions in an attempt to get a positive response out of her about him.

Anyways, here's some expansion by @jiangwanyinscatmom on the nuance of what mxtx meant by “not heinous/evil” that was lost in translation here and some more re-translation (still of the same interview as above):

He is not a 坏 (basically spoiled broken, corrupt) person by nature, but if someone wants to dislike him, there is nothing I can do about it. Because whether you dislike someone or not is also... your own choice.

MXTX's answer about why Jiang Cheng never could marry and how she sees him as a character (parenthesis section for jiangwanyinscatmom's own translation notes):

In short: MXTX describes Jiang Cheng as a character that is filled with negativity and unable to date, but he is not inherently evil nor to the point of being irredeemable. He is a product of the story and fulfills the role he was created to fulfill in the plot. He's not a good person, not overtly and not secretly. That's it.
