Friendly reminder Cole is still dead while he and Liam never got to make up and so is Jude and Ruby and Liam had to go back into hiding even though it was the opposite of what they wanted. Zu was framed, she also had to watch the her friend get shot in front of her. Vida’s own sister abandoned her. Chubs got shot. Jack is dead and Zu probably still has nightmares about the camp escape.

I now have a theory that Liam takes Ruby out on a date to a movie theator where they run reruns of old movies because nothing is being made. She's absolutely terrified but tries to act cool while Liam is smiling the whole movie because 1. this movie was one of his favorites and 2. Ruby is low key hiding in his jacket but to prideful to admit it.

Caitsbooks’ Top 8 2018 Reads!

So I've made a post about my Top 18 2018 Releases, but now I wanted to shine a light on some of the books I read this year that were published in earlier years.

This list is in no particular order. I just wanted to mention a few of the books and series I loved this year!

8. Alex, Approximately by Jenn Bennett

Rating: 4.75/5 Series: N/A Review: Yes After reading Starry Eyes by Jenn Bennett, I knew I had to read her previous books. Alex, Approximately was so fun and really cemented Jenn Bennett as an auto-buy author for me!

7. Velvet by Temple West

Rating: 4.5/5 Series: Velvet #1 Review: Yes Not enough people know about this book series. I know people are hesitant of vampires after it became the trend to hate on anything vampirey after Twilight, but this book was just so entertaining. It never takes itself too seriously, includes a lot of fun tropes, and has a really interesting take on vampires that I absolutely love. I'm still dying for book 3!!

6. The Darkest Minds Series by Alexandra Bracken

Rating: 4.7/5 Series: The Darkest Minds #1-3.5 Review: Yes I had been wanting to read these books since 2013, and I kept putting it off until I had no choice but to read it because the movie was coming out. And I absolutely loved it. While I'm definitely still in my post-2012-dystopian-boom exhaustion, I really loved this series (I think US politics at the time I read it also played a part in why this book impacted me so much).

5. Stalking Jack the Ripper Series by Kerri Maniscalco

Rating: 5/5 Series: Stalking Jack the Ripper #1-3 Review: Yes I've never been one for murder mysteries, but I have always been fascinated with the Jack the Ripper case. I think this book made me a fan of murder mysteries. It's so dark and twisted and gruesome but has plenty of wit and adorable romance.

4. Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare

Rating: 5/5 Series: The Dark Artifices #2 Review: Yes I was going to include The Dark Artifices #1 and #2, but Lord of Shadows was just so amazing that I felt it needed the extra shout out. Don't get me wrong, Lady Midnight was absolutely fantastic, but Lord of Shadows brought it to the next level. I'm so glad I waited until Queen of Air and Darkness was out to begin reading because that ending killed me.

3. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern 

Rating: 5/5 Series: N/A Review: Yes I have been hearing, for so long, how perfect and amazing this book was. When I went into it, I knew nothing except that everyone loved it, and that beautiful first paragraph. It definitely wasn't what I expected, but in the best way. This book exceeded every expectation and blew me away.

2. The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

Rating: 5/5 Series: N/A Review: Yes This book. Not only is it well-written, but the message is so important, and this story is one that absolutely needed to be told. If you haven't picked this up yet, please do. No matter what your political beliefs, you need to read this.

1. The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater 

Rating: 5/5 Series: The Raven Cycle #1-4 Review: Yes Hello, Katie from high school. You told me to read this back in 2014 and I put it off. This is my apology. I should have listened to you and read this when you first mentioned it because it is so freaking amazing. This series is so beautifully written, with amazing characters and a fascinating plot and setting. Everything about it is perfection.

i think a novella or short story or something told from the pov of lee or chubs or JACK while they’re preparing to escape caledonia would be reeeally interesting. thurmond was the only camp we really got to know, and if caledonia’s description sounded like “candyland” compared to it (according to ruby) i’d be curious to see what exactly that meant for the kids. i also kinda really wanna know more about jack, and his relationship with chubs, and liam and chubs becoming best friends, and liam leading them out of the camp. ALSO as a sort of related topic what about liam, zu and chubs’s first night together after escaping camp, and finding black betty before ruby came along??? just some 5 am thoughts...

19) chubs' flustered reaction to zu and roman kissing on the fence in the midst of a fucking storm, and her reaction to finding out they were all watching the scene unfold

20) lana thinking she didn't deserve a second chance after the things she did, and hesitating to hold priyas hand when she offered it to her to help her get out of whatever shithole mercer put them in

21) lana overpowering zu AND ALL THE OTHERS beCAUSE HOT DAMN THAT WAS AMAZING AND I LIVED FOR IT

22) cate doing everything she can to protect her kids, and standing up to alban to let ruby breathe for a while. "She hadn't slept for two days, and ylu put her through this"

23) the scene in nf when liam gets his memories back after whipping out that heart wrenching speech

24) jude, nico and blakes whole friendship and the way jude always knew exactly where nico would be, especially after that time blake was brought back in a body bag

25) zu making the split second decision to haul ruby into betty and safety and voting with liam to let her stay, to chubs' dismay. CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW SMART SHE WAS IDK IN NF I SWEAR THERES A SCENE WHERE SHE TELLS RUBY WHY

26) chubs thinking zu always takes liams side, and being surprised when zu followed him out of haven and back into the hands of the government after the guys' fight

27) lisa, jacob and miguels friendship and growth

28) the first ladys unconditional love for clancy, idk it always makes me feel a certain way, ig I wish my mama could be the same lmao

Underrated tdm scenes :

1) When ruby nearly punched that kid at walmart for insulting zu

2) It taking ruby 0.5 seconds after meeting Cole to figure out how much he cares about Liam.

3) The hair dye scene! my girls doing something normal for once and just chilling

4) Chubs taking care of ruby in nf

5) Liam telling jude horror stories while they’re on watch

6) When Liam steals gas and ruby questions “the music of his soul” while he just claims to be born on the backseat of a bus ( ‘I was the Miracle Bus Boy for the first three years of my life’)

7) Cole hugging liam in the end of nf (your concern is showing dude)

8) Vida standing up to Chubs after his and Ruby’s fight

9) Ruby and Chubs bonding over charades and candy and then hugging the hell out of each other when they crack the code while a sleepy Liam shows up and is a ball of confusion and then goes back inside and comes back again bc hey don’t they both hate each other

Cole is a child of Vulcan, Hephaestus's roman counterpart, cause fire. Cole is a preator of camp jupiter. He ran away from home when his mom married Harry. He hasn't contacted them since

Liam is a child of hephaestus cause he is good with cars, and children of hephaestus are good mechanics, i decided to have Liam and Cole at different camps for plot. Liam dosent know Cole is also a halfblood

Vida is a child of Mars, Ares roman form (no explanation needed)

Chubs is a child of Apollo cause docter

Clancy was a tough one and was a toss up between Athena and Mars. Mars is Ares roman equivalent. But I decided Mars so Clancy could be a preator of camp jupiter with Cole cause I think that'd be hilarious

Jude is a child of Murcury, Hermes roman equivalent. I can't explain why he just is

Nico is a child of Athena and is a spy for Clancy

Zu is also a hard one cause I want to say she is a child of Zues, but in the darkest legacy she is such a smart cookie, but I still have to say she is a child of Zues

Jack is a child of hermes (need I say why)

Sam is a child of Mars, Ares roman equivalent. Because it makes sense

Lucas is a child of Apollo i think he'd have sun power, which could be used to burn people
