LIAM AND ROMAN: THE CAR TRIP

•one day zu calls roman saying “you should pick up liam on your way up, i need his help building some bunk beds at HQ”

•roman is like S H I T

•but really says “yes of course. anything for you”

•lee immediately agrees, bc it’s lee

•so roman picks up liam and

•he straight up kicks him out of his seat

•again

•like in tdl

•roman just sighs and does as he is told

•”should have learned the first time rambo”

•roman even tries to pick the music and lee slaps his hand. even though they were going for the same station

•”you ever heard the rule?”

•roman is like weLL ALRIGHT MIGHT AS WELL JUST SIT HERE and decides to just stay silent the whole time

•but five minutes in puppy lee gets angsty

•boi can’t handle silence

•ruby once was taking a nap in his prescene and he started talking to his own reflection

•so he starts asking roman a bunch of questions

•roman, being the on edge guy he is, gets intimated by said questions and in a quiet voice says “this feels like an interrogation sir”

•“RAMBO CHILL I JUST ASKED WHAT YOUR FAVORITE COLOR WAS”

•(roman says yellow btw)

•after realizing they have nothing in common liam starts DIGGING for things to talk about

•”uh so roman, what do you like doing?”

•roman, with no hesitation “Zu”

•LIAM FUCKING SWERVES THE CAR

• ALMOST KILLING BOTH OF THEM BEFORE SLAMMING ON THE BREAK

•”GET OUT”

•roman: a clueless russian boi

•“i’m sorry what did i say?”

•“NO ONE TALKS ABOUT MY ZUZU LIKE THAT”

•roman: still in utter confusion

•“sir i don’t get what you are so mad about”

•liam is like ??????

•“YOU SAID YOU LIKE DOING ZU, SEE THE PROBLEM?”

•now roman is like ?????

•liam just heavily sighs

•”YOU IMPLIED TO LIKE TO DO IT WITH SUZUME”

•it then clicks in his head

•AND HIS CHEEKS BE BURNING

•“oh um i thought you asked who i liked”

•liam just laughs. and laughs. and laughs. until he physically cannot breathe

•”jesus rambo trying to kill me or somethin’”

•when ruby and zu hear about this THEY DIED

•zu is like “oh honey” :((((((

•but inside she isn’t even alive

•the faces zu and ruby make at eachother as they both try SO HARD not to laugh, priceless

•priya NEVER lets it go.

•she wants that moment on her grave

•and vida just raises her eyebrows at him when ever they are near eachother making him blush

•in conclusion, soft russian boi never gets a break

THIS HURT WOW but I also kinda love it it was a good kinda pain

Imagine the Black Betty Crew rolling down the highway during In The Afterlight:

Heading down the highway, Liam has the radio tuned into some classic Rock and Pop hits (as he does). Windows are down because they could all use a bit of fresh air. 

Lee is driving; his eyes feel heavy and even that bright blue shows how discouraged he’s feeling. Ruby, co-piloting, is resting her elbow on the open window, twirling her curly strands around her finger. Zu and Chubs are silently sitting in the back; no sassy remark or facial expression from either. Vida, taking in her surroundings, is just humbled to have finally found her family, but you won’t hear her telling anyone this. 

The song on the radio shifts and a low guitar starts strumming when the chorus picks up with “Hey Jude.” It only takes a few seconds for Ruby to sit up and look at the radio. Liam glances over at her, trying to give her a reassuring smile but even he can’t produce that kind of positivity. The whole crew turns their attention to Ruby as she starts to quietly hum along, and quietly sings the “Na Na Na Na, Hey Jude.” The rest of the crew slowly joins her in the song, with their quiet “na na na na’s.” Liam rests his hand on the middle console, palm side up, and Ruby grabs on, Lee squeezing her hand in response. The crew continues to quietly hum/sing as the wind rustles their hair and they let the road take them to new adventures.

Soooo I did a fanart of one of my favorite book series: Darkest Minds. I tried to use just the description of the characters in the book as reference (since I aways imagined a Ruby as a black girl) but I'm really happy with the result 🙃

Friendly reminder Cole is still dead while he and Liam never got to make up and so is Jude and Ruby and Liam had to go back into hiding even though it was the opposite of what they wanted. Zu was framed, she also had to watch the her friend get shot in front of her. Vida’s own sister abandoned her. Chubs got shot. Jack is dead and Zu probably still has nightmares about the camp escape.
