I remember I was thinking up fanfiction even before I knew about it lol. I was like 10 and daydreaming about Xena warrior princess and Captain Jack sparrow meeting and having an adventure and falling in love. It was pretty exciting when I discovered other people had written about it too.

First;

I think it's cool that the triangle is over, and that Tristan is with Vivian and Max and Avery are together, but it also doesn't seem right. I don't see much chemistry in Max and Avery together, you know? Just the two of them, even though I like them just as I like Tristan and Vivian.Something is missing, and we know what it is.

Second;

I loved that a bunch of cool costumes appeared in the Halloween episode (Wolverine, Addams, Jack fucking Sparrow, Velma, etc.) and I loved Tristan being a fan of Halloween.

Third;

I liked that there was a bad experience there just with Tristan getting high, but he barely had it this episode so I don't know what to say, besides that I was really expecting something more serious precisely because of him bumping into Gomes.

Fourth;

Tristan extended his hand to Avery, then extended the other to Max, and the look that Max and Avery exchanged and then looked at Tristan, damn, there's no way this won't end in a threesome, right? Does everyone agree? I want a slowburn, an attraction and denial of feelings between the boys and I want Vivian to be happy, but maybe don't with Tristan because he already has a man and a woman for him.

Fifth;

yes fuck, long live lesbians, I was happy she didn't die and didn't lose her arm (even though I think she was pretty stupid for going into that cave, but what can you do, brave people) and it ended well for them.

Sixth;

I need the Captain to have daddy issues, please, because then I can use "A middle-aged man who is healing boy's daddy issues while also healing his own." for his relationship with Tristan because I found it so meaningful and cute that he let Tristan wear his uniform (even though he said it was because of the near-death experience, I know your type, sir he's not my son-he's my son) and I really hope she's right, because it would be awesome to see Tristan's Mommy Issues put aside while he creates a father-son relationship, you know? Because now I'm also curious about his father, who I don't remember if they mentioned it until now, but anyway, yeah, I need to know.

Seventh;

can we talk, as fans of Doctor Odyssey and 911, how easy is it for someone to do a crossover starting with the guy from the cruise who was also on Athena and Bobby's cruise? That blond guy who was in Flash too. Someone really needs to do this. Maybe an almost Eddie/Tristan that triggers Buddie and Avery/Max/Tristan... Just an idea (someone please do it)

Eighth;

I had said in the study of the other episode that I wanted to see Tristan in a near-death experience, coincidentally that happened, but I don't feel like it was enough. I need more trauma, more character development and more Max/Tristan because I love their interactions.

Ninth;

okay, like Jack Sparrow Max might have won, but Tristan got the better of Neptune there.

Tenth;

(oh my god, how did I almost forget this???) that scene with Tristan at the party, the first one where he sees Max with the same Neptune costume but also before that, when it showed his blurred vision and he almost bumped into people, you know? We all realized that the looks those men gave him were definitely Queer as hell, we also noticed his confused state, but still, it means something, right? What men on this cruise want him (totally understandable) and maybe he can want them back? Maybe a scene of some man hitting on him and Max kind of in that way that we readers like, Tristan realizing some things about himself, if he doesn't already know. Because, come on, mommy issues (seeking approval, probably a "what's wrong with me?" ) + running away to the sea (repressing himself, an escape) + medicine (self-demanding, pressure) + giving off that vibe? This boy may not end up with Max and Avery, but there's no way he's 100% straight, please.

SORTING DISNEY LADIES (1995-1998)

Part 1 - Disney Ladies 1937-1985

Part 2 - Disney Ladies 1988-1993

I’m going in chronological order, and doing both A Squad and B Squad, because I’m interested in tracking how the ideal “disney girl” has changed in the past 85 years (right now I’m only looking at the human-shaped heroines of Disney animated theatrical releases) A more detailed break-down of the system I’m using is right here, but the basics are these: 

PRIMARY (ie MOTIVE) 

BADGER ~ Loyal to the group.

SNAKE ~ Loyal to yourself and your Important People.

LION ~ Subconscious Idealist. Ideals are linked to feelings and instincts. 

BIRD ~ Conscious Idealist. Ideals are linked to built systems and external facts. 

SECONDARY (ie METHOD) 

BADGER ~ Connect with the group. Make allies, work steadily and well. Be whatever the situation calls for. If you find a locked door, knock.

SNAKE ~ Connect with the environment. Notice things. Tell people what they want to hear. If you find a locked door, get in through the window.

BIRD ~ Collect skills, tools, knowledge, personas, useful friends. If you find a locked door, track down the key or learn to pick the lock.

LION ~ Be honest, be direct, speak your truth. Either the obstacle is going down or you are. If you find a locked door, kick it in.

POCAHONTAS (1995)

(& John Smith)

Pocahontas is an incredibly loud Lion Primary. Marrying Kocoum is the good choice, the responsible choice, the right choice - she knows this - but she just can’t do it. It feels wrong. She “goes wherever the wind takes her,” accompanied by the swirling leaves that are a kind of physical manifestation of her primary, since they match up so perfectly with the compass. (Classic Lion primary metaphor - see also Jack Sparrow.) When Pocahontas doesn’t know what to do she dreams of the confusing “spinning arrow,” but when she does... that arrow points straight in one direction and she just goes. She “listens with her heart”  to the degree that it gives her superpowers.

It’s tempting to say she’s a Lion secondary too. She enjoys whitewater rafting and BASE jumping, which I guess are activities stereotypically associated with Lion secondaries. Also, the climax of the movie does involve her physically flinging herself across John Smith’s body. BUT her big song (“Colors of the Wind”) is just so, so, SO Bird secondary. John Smith isn’t getting it, and so Pocahontas’ response is - let me explain my worldview, show you, you clearly don’t have all the information. She’s a problem-solving Bird. Pocahontas’ first instinct when the English arrive is to investigate from the shadows, with two animal sidekicks that represent Curiosity and Caution. (Which is perfect, because is that not what a Bird secondary is? Observe, assess, plan.) Pocahontas is also convinced that there must be some perfect way of explaining her situation to the rest of her tribe that will make them get it. In her eyes, the problem is again that they don’t have all the information. This is almost a Bird secondary compulsion.

As for John Smith, well. His arc is about shifting his definition of “Person” to include everyone he categorized as “savages” early in the film. That’s very Badger primary character development, and John Smith is very Badger primary. He loves being part of a group, he loves his men, and the fact that he doesn’t really belong anywhere bothers him. The implication is that he keeps going to all these “New Worlds” trying to find one where he fits. It’s a cool bit of costume design that he’s the only one in Spanish armor - like maybe he did a similar trip with the Spanish conquistadors a few years ago. And it’s gutsy that his ‘I want’ song (“Mine”) is literally a duet with the villain. Like, sure John Smith and Governor Ratcliffe don’t like each other, but they start off with pretty similar politics.

I like that at the end John isn’t accepted into the Powhatan tribe or something. He finds personal peace by redefining his own community, and gaining a broader perspective on the world. HE is absolutely a Lion secondary though: really straightforward, cannot lie, and always solves problems by throwing himself physically at them. Pocahontas only does that the once, after her Bird secondary strategy - trying to reason people around to her point of view - didn’t work.

ESMERALDA (1996)

(& Quasimodo, Claude Frollo, Phoebus)

At first Esmeralda seems like she might also be a Lion primary. She’s the revolutionary, she stands up on platforms and yells things like “Justice!” Even through all the adaptational changes, the Victor Hugo soul of the story is still very much there, and he loves a Lion primary. But… that’s not really where Esmeralda is coming from. She cut Quasimodo’s bonds very specifically to try and change the vibe of the room - “Letting the crowd torture that poor boy? I thought if one person could stand up to him…” And that’s a Badger primary motive. Esmeralda has deep roots in her outsider community, and being separate from them (trapped in the cathedral) is very, very bad for her. 

But then she brings Notre Dame itself into her community. Esmeralda goes up to the statue of Mary, the cathedral's patron, and says, “Still I see your face and wonder / if you were once an outcast too.” Once she does that, the ‘outcast’ bellringer of Notre Dame and even the building itself start fighting for her. It’s important that Esmeralda’s ‘I want’ song has nothing up to do with her at all. “God Help the Outcasts” is about helping her community - the outcasts. We get lines like “I ask for nothing, I can get by / for I know so many less lucky than I” which are all about Badger primary need-basing. Esmeralda consistently goes to whoever needs her help the most, doesn’t matter if she knows them or not. And her way of helping Quasi is to give him a map of the city that brings him straight to her Community. 

It’s nice to pair this very understanding, inclusive Badger primary with basically a Jack Sparrow secondary. Esmeralda likes disguises. She likes improvising weapons. She improvises her escapes, and comes up with stuff as she goes along. She also has a lot of faces that are all equally her. She is the sexy pole dancer. She is also the grounded, spiritual earth mother, and when her primary requires it, she’s the revolutionary too.

If you put the weird tonal mismatch that is the gargoyles to one side, this film has a really elegant little structure. There are three men who are in love with Esmeralda: Quasimodo, Claude Frollo and Phoebus. And it’s subtly done, but Quasi and Frollo both dehumanize her - Frollo by only seeing her sexy side and deciding she’s a demon temptress, and Quasi by only seeing her more motherly side and deciding she’s an angel. I always thought it was interesting that “Heaven’s Light” and “Hellfire” - Quasi and Frollo’s songs about Esmeralda - are back to back, with similar titles, even the same track on the soundtrack. They’re almost a duet, and I think it’s a way of showing that there are two ways to make someone inhuman. (In a movie that is SO interested in the idea of what makes someone inhuman.) And then Phoebus just sees Esmeralda as… this cool chick, with a great sense of humor and some sweet moves, who he’d like to get to know better. Of course she goes with him. 

Frollo, Phoebus and Quasi are ALL Lion secondaries (no wonder they butt heads.) It’s harder to tell with Quasi, because his secondary is so ridiculously Burnt, and only wakes up once his Snake primary finds something to latch onto that isn’t Frollo… which takes him most of the movie. Phoebus has a very straightforward Paragon Lion primary that seems to match up with Esmeralda’s Badger, and Frollo, oh man. Frollo has the most twisted Bird primary imaginable. He has a belief system that is impossible to live up to, so - instead of maybe questioning that - he blames Esmeralda? Or he blames God? for making Esmeralda too tempting for him to resist? and so therefore it’s not his fault? He’s a Bird Primary who consistently fails at following his system, and deep down he knows it. That’s why he’s so scared of the actual Notre Dame cathedral, why it keeps hurting him, and why it ultimately kills him. He cannot look those statues in the face, he cannot look at the system he tells himself he follows better than anyone else.

(Inspector Javert of Les Mis is also a Bird Lion villain. Big Victor Hugo trope.)

MEGARA “MEG” (1997)

(& Hades)

Meg is the example I would use to illustrate a Burnt Snake primary. She sold her soul (gave up everything) for her boyfriend, he left her, and now she doesn’t think it’s safe to love like that again. “Look I learned my lesson, okay? I’ve sworn off man handling.” Meg won’t let herself trust anyone: “He comes in with this big handsome farm boy act, but I can see though that in a Peloponnesian minute.” It’s because she doesn’t trust herself: “If there’s a prize for rotten judgement / I guess I’ve already won that.” 

Her only connection in the world is Hades, this weird and kind of compelling combination of bitchy best friend and shady producer who’s trapped her in a bad five-record deal. They are both similar flavors of Snake secondary, which is how they they can be antagonistic… but still kinda get each other, and work well together. They both enjoy sitting in a kind of blunt Neutral, but get things done by being charmers - creatively telling the truth, and switching approaches quickly in order to to figure out what resonates best with the person they're talking to.

We see Meg use Hercules’ fan girls as a smokescreen to sneak into his villa, and then talk him into playing hooky and having a night on the town. After which, she falls into his arms with her line about “weak ankles” as a way to get him to get him talking about potential weaknesses. But of course, she catches feelings and her big song “I Won’t Say I’m In Love,” is a nice little portrait of a Snake primary unBurning. Meg goes from not trusting herself at all, to deciding that… maybe it could be different this time. 

And this is where Hades misreads Meg, which is ultimately his downfall. He assumes that Meg is a Lion primary like he is. Because Hades is (a bit of a narcissist) and a huge Glory Hound Lion. He hates that he got the shitty assignment, hates that things are “a little dark, a little gloomy, and as always, hey - full of dead people." He wants to be the top dog, he wants to be Zeus. So he offers Meg freedom. That's what a Lion primary like him would want more than anything, were he in her position. But Meg’s not a Lion. She’s a Snake. So we get exchanges like this:

HADES. Hear that? It’s the sound of your freedom, fluttering away. MEG. I don’t care. I won’t do anything to hurt him.

And Hades just does not see that coming. 

FA MULAN (1998) 

 (& Fa Zhou, Mushu, Li Shang, Shan Yu)

So my question is... why does Mulan run away and join the army? Get the obvious answer out of the way - it's not “to uphold the family honor."

FA ZHOU. It is an honor to protect my country and my family. MULAN.  So you’ll die for honor?

Fa Zhou is definitely a Badger primary, and Mulan… isn’t. She doesn’t get it. He’s not speaking her language. But she clearly loves her dad, and the next explanation we get is that she did it all to protect him. However, at her lowest and most vulnerable she says - “Maybe I didn’t go for my father. Maybe I went to prove that I could do things right.” That’s an interesting shift. Now the issue isn’t with why she acts, it’s with how she acts. Which means Mulan’s internal conflict isn't coming from her primary, it's coming from her secondary.

This is where we start getting into gender and gender performance. There is a lot of Badger secondary in this movie, and it’s all framed as female (Mulan's mom and grandmother are both Badger secondaries, for example.) There’s also a lot of Lion secondary, which is framed as male. (Fa Zhou, Li Shang, and Shan Yu are all Lions.) And Mulan… tries both options, and fails both times. She gets into a huge amount of trouble trying to be the quiet, caretaking bride at the matchmaker’s, and just as much trouble trying to be the brash, fight-starting Ping at the camp. 

Then we have Mushu, who is Mulan's Lion secondary coach… despite not being a Lion secondary himself. He wants to be - disgraced failure Mushu is introduced trying to breathe fire and shake awake the bigger, tougher Great Stone Dragon. He’s trying to seem like an intense Lion when he is happiest and most effective doing a more Badger secondary thing. He comforts Mulan, makes her breakfast, carefully forges letters, wins her allies and generally gets… maternal (“my little baby is all grown up and saving China.”) This is a smart movie, and in a very light, comedic way… it’s saying that Mulan is not the only one self-sabotaging because of gender presentation roles.

So Mulan tries to be a Badger, which doesn’t work. She tries to be a Lion, which doesn’t work. And eventually, of course, realizes that she was a clever, inventive Bird secondary all along. We are introduced to her while she's making little gadgets to do her chores, and when she taps into that she becomes powerful. She is able to figure out a way to use the handicap weights to climb the post and reach the arrow, and defeat Shan Yu’s army by starting an avalanche. She even finds time to plan during the heavily improvised final battle in the palace. Mulan coordinates a two-pronged attack, luring Shan Yu up onto the roof, where she knows Mushu is already in place with a rocket.

As for why she does things… Mulan has an intrinsic inner truth, and just wants to project that truth out into the world. She’s a Lion primary who wants to “be myself” be “true to [her] heart,” and not hide. “When will my reflection show who I am inside?” Lion primaries will get hit especially hard with that kind of identity angst. 

And to round out the sorting for this film (which really holds up) - Mushu is probably a Lion primary like Mulan, which is why he gets where she’s coming from. He starts off as a bit of an immature “stage mom” Glory Hound Lion, but gets better. Shang is definitely a Loyalist, probably a young Badger primary. (I think Mulan just likes Badger Lions, her dad is one too.) Shang is very group-orientated, wants to be “the leader of China’s finest troops - no, the greatest troops of all time!” He's also, to be honest, kind of Establishment. Shang has a much harder time getting his head around Girl!Ping then Mulan’s more Snakey buddies, and ultimately needs an authority figure to tell him to cut it out. And Shan Yu, the film’s comment on toxic masculinity, seems like an Exploded Lion primary. He gives his motivation in the first scene- “[the Emperor] invited me. By building his wall he challenged my strength.” Which means that - with the single exception of Hades... all the guys in this wave have been masculine-coded Lion secondaries, and the heroines aren't girly Badgers, but the cool "third option" - Birds or Snakes.

On your answer to ⭐ anon, you said you felt like GOT ending screwed the Starks over and I'm curious to hear more of your thoughts on that ? I only watch S8 when it aired (I don't plan on rewatching it anytime soon lmao) so I might not remember everything correctly and I may be a little bit too much of a Dany stan (still love the f out of House Stark tho, I promise). But imo, besides Jon who really got the short end of the stick, the remaining Stark got it fairly okay ? They're still the Honorable Nice Guys™, Bran sits on the Iron Throne, Sansa is Queen in the North and Arya gets to do her own thing. That's pretty much as good as you can get in the ASOIAF world. Or did you mean it in more a of a public reception/ character development/ book accuracy kind of way ? 👀

let me see if i can word this right. i guess if you look at it from an outside perspective, the starks weren’t that screwed over. bran sits the throne, arya’s free to travel the world, sansa is queen in the north etc, but i mean it in more of just a poor-house-portrayal way. the starks’ ending isn’t what any of the starks would’ve actually wanted, and they strayed pretty far away from the pillar of house stark (family) in the finale.

arya has spent 5 seasons desperately trying to get back to her family. sansa has spent 5 seasons desperately trying to get back to her family. bran, even in his journey with becoming the three eyed raven, planned to at the very least visit jon at the wall. jon has spent 5 seasons doing his duty, and wishing desperately to be able to do anything but. wishing to be able to save his family.

but in the ending, after arya reunites with her family, aka — what she’s wanted most this entire time — she leaves. she decides, oh, yeah, when the white winds blow the lone wolf dies but the pack survives or whatever, i’m going to become jack sparrow!

and sansa, who has been defiled and disrespected and just dehumanized by every male figure she’s come by, allows jon to be exiled without second thought. jon fought for winterfell only because she asked him too — told him he must. he protected her, slayed her rapist, promising he would never let him touch her again, and she doesn’t bat an eye when he’s exiled for killing the woman he loves for her? she has the strength of the north behind her, and doesn’t fight for him, as he fought for her? okay. no yeah that’s cool or whatever

bran sits the iron throne after saying he could never be lord of anything. jon was exiled for saving the world from a tyrant (sorry early seasons dany ily)

Actually, pretty much all of the French voice actors of Advent Children got to keep their roles all the way up to the remake trilogy. This also includes Bruno Choël, who voices Sephiroth, while also being the French voice of Obi-Wan, Jack Sparrow, Nathan Drake & other iconic characters.

Hyperfixations I had that I think the marauders would have:

Remus would love book binding. he could make journals or novels or poetry and then compile all those together into a book with a cover he designed. he even totally debated taking all his school notes and trying to make them into a book with a really intricate cover that he spent days making. Remus would have these plans to even get into making his own paper for his books as well but he only ever got as far as trying to stitch the pages together and because he wasn’t an expert at it right away, he got frustrated and gave up

James was a hard one honestly. after much debating I think it’s learning to play an instrument. he’d try a few that he’s interested in like the piano or guitar but he’d settle on the bass. he’d spend so much money getting everything he needs and James would think he’d look so cool with his electric bass and it sounds awesome so he’d love it but it wouldn’t take long for him to realize he doesn’t have a musical bone in his body. now it just sits in his room or his dorm and he only mentions it to impress people until they ask him to play something and he comes up with an excuse not to

I firmly believe that Sirius would be obsessed with the Pirates of the Caribbean film series. he would love the idea of pirates because they can just go off and do whatever they want with no one to stop them and no obligations. he would love how they’re obsessed with treasure and their ships and though he loves the romance between Will and Elizabeth you wouldn’t ever get him to admit it. he also just loves it because Captain Jack Sparrow is dramatic and really hot his role model

At first I was going to say Peter would enjoy true crime but that just felt mean but I actually think it would be dungeons and dragons. we know Peter was kinda the black sheep out of the marauders and despite being their friend he wasn’t on the same level as the other three (sorry dude) so I think the idea of playing a game where he could be anyone, sign him up. his favorite class would be a fighter or barbarian because they’re pretty different than who he is. this game is his chance to be strong and run headfirst into danger and lead a group when usually he’s just a follower

i mentioned to @thatoneandlonelyemo2005 (howdy fellow history nerd) that tattoos were really popular in the 1890s, as they were mostly used with indigenous peoples but they bled up to the royalty, and of course the rest of the world wanted to be just like them, and the electric tattoo gun was invented in 1891 so it wouldve made the process a lot less painful and we were like omg the newsies wouldve had tattoos!!!

so then we started comin up with hcs for what tattoos they would each get.

i feel like this is kind of like a more 'what tattoos would they have in a modern au' thing but like they couldve had tats in the actual time period

so far we have

would get a matching one with each of his 'brothers' so a horse with crutchie to remind them of santa fe, a royal flush of cards for racer

i think he would want to do something for medda to show his appreciation for her so i came up with the comedy/tragedy masks yknow the like theater symbol

She's the girl in Poppy's pinterest and I think that Teja and Nneka look really alike so they could play twins. Teja is so pretty and she also does hair like Holly does so it'd be cool if she played her because she's basically Poppy O'Hair.

Another underrated actress. She’s also half-Filipino like vivi’s cerise so that’s good. I feel like with this current hair she has it gives of Cerise vibes. I really think she’d be a good Cerise.

Hi so I’ve been ingesting a lot of pirate media recently (because I have a problem) and now I’m going to go on a mini rant about Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead men tell no tales, which isn’t a bad movie but it has its flaws. Now I will go forth and do my rant in the form of a list.

1. Salazar

Not a bad villain on the surface, actually I think he’s pretty cool. There’s just one problem, we’ve seen a villain like him before in this franchise. One who hates Captain Jack Sparrow because of something that happened in the past, one that can’t go on land, one that has some kind of curse on him, one that needed Jacks compass to do something in some way, and one that they needed to break his curse to defeat. Sound familiar? That’s because we already had this with DAVY JONES.

Other then a few details like Jones only being able to go on land every ten years as opposed to Salazar just not being able to, and the fact that their curses are different and Salazar isn’t in love with a sea goddess, but other then that they are very similar and even carry an undead theme. Hell, even Barbossa in the first movie is similar.

2. Jack giving up the compass

Okay so you’re telling me that Jack would give up the compass, the compass that he would not give up even to Will in Dead Man’s Chest, just to get rum? That compass is arguably his most prized possession and I don’t think that him giving it up even for a moment would happen unless he let someone else use it to get a heading just like in Dead Man’s Chest. There could have been another reason that Salazar was released, maybe there was a time limit or something, but I found Jack giving away the compass to be really really lazy.

4. Henry Turner and his parents

Okay so let me be clear, I don’t hate Henry. He’s a good character and I think his goal of finding the Trident to break every curse at sea and free his dad is a great motivation, but that being said.. why did he have to join the Navy to get on a ship?? His mom is the literal Pirate King, something that this movie seems to forget. Henry could have easily been placed on a pirate ship that fell under her ruling, maybe we could have been Barbossa earlier taking him off to find a way to break the curse or better yet let’s have Elizabeth step up and go with him! It’s not a big thing for me, but it does feel a little weird that Henry knows so little about piracy considering he was raised by one.

5. The characterization of (Captain) Jack Sparrow

As much as I love Jack and will always love Jack, he’s… pretty much useless in this movie. Other then letting Salazar free he’s pretty much been demoted to a funny side character who gives bad advice and drinks all the time. I get it, he’s been cursed by Barbossa and he’s down on his luck but that should not have stopped him! Also you’re telling me that he wouldn’t have found a way to get the Pearl out of the bottle? His beloved ship? He’d be scouring the world for that information! He also wouldn’t have cut off contact with Elizabeth I refuse to believe that. He may not be the brightest but he’s not stupid and I don’t like how this movie portrayed him.

6. Hector Barbossa

Okay so for the most part I think he’s fine, he got what he wanted in the end and he has a daughter that he sacrifices himself for. There’s just one problem, Hector Barbossa also stuck his neck out for Elizabeth Swann and I personally think that he would have remained loyal to her as the pirate King. Having a witch curse Jack is something he would do though.

Which Fictions are good to Fanfic?

When I write I want to use one of these things from a fandom I'm in.

The world

The characters

The power system

I tend to ask myself the question what anime/manga/book/show is so good that one of these can stand alone for me to work with.

For example

World

Harry Potter/Naruto/Game of Thrones/Lord of Rings. I've found to be excellent starting worlds. You can place any character in these worlds and have an exciting background going on with fun facts and lore everywhere for you to draw upon.

You have a clear picture of the world, but it's lose enough that you can change things and it won't feel off putting.

You want to write a Deathnote fanfic in the Deathnote world? Great. Your in Japan. That's it. Real world Japan at that so you need to do research, but nothing is happening with politics or science or the supernatural that isn't affecting the main characters or being affected by them so if you do something cool you must ask yourself, 'How did it happen?' and 'How would it effect the main story?'.

Those aren't always bad questions, but it limits you a lot.

In HP you want to have a new potion or spell exist that is really important? Super easy. Ancient knowledge found in a hidden tome or new magic dropped yesterday by so and so. Easy. You want the law to be this or that? You want to bring in some conflict with another country? New supernatural creature? Bring in some religion? Easy as pie. The world is set up so that all this stuff could have always been a thing, but just wasn't talked about. It's a magic world. Nuff said.

If I'm writing a story about the world I want it to be interesting enough to stand alone and still be worth telling.

Characters

Most often I'm interested in the characters. I love displacing characters and putting them where they shouldn't be.

Most fandoms have at least some good characters, but there are a few great ones for example.

Captain Jack Sparrow is so fun to me that I'd rather watch him in an Ikea for 3 hours then a Pirate movie without him in it.

A lot of superheroes have those kind of personalities. Thor could be fun on a ranch. You can send Spiderman to medieval times. Deadpool could make watching paint dry be the best thing in the world.

Some characters have so much personally that the whole story can just be them reacting to a different setting.

Then you have characters like Bella Swann from Twilight....She's not going to get any better in outer space or Jurassic Park. If your writing for that fandom you are most likely either fixing her or getting rid of her.

A character with little personally can however become a skin for your oc. If I didn't want to make my own character, but wanted to send someone from Naruto into say the DC world I could use Tenten. But I'd be picking her for her world. I'd want the ninja background without having to give a backstory. It's a pretty boring options when it comes to characters from Naruto.

Lastly Power Systems

Those can be amazing if they are the star of the fic. Like drop a deathnote into any fandom with any kind of character and Boom you got a story.

I'd read lots of fics about an OC that uses Charka just slightly differently and they become OP because of it.

The insane creativity in Nen from HxH is my favorite. You can come up with 1,000s of prompts of characters interacting with a weird power that does anything.

Truth serum, berserker rage, fuck or die, character got turned into a cat? Nen can do all that shit and more.

Anyway just felt like talking about which fandoms I think are extra good for fanfic writing.

Kingdom Hearts x New Princesses 👑

Okay! This next KH4 post is about the new princesses of heart! Now I know there were alot of princesses in the last few games, although most of them were from the classic Renaissance movies. But since KH3 we learned that there are some new princesses joining the games! So here is my list of who might be the new 7 Hearts in KH4!

🐻 Merida : Okay this one is more for me lol, since I think Merida is really cool! But since KH is diving into more Pixar worlds and movies, it would kind of make sense to put her in KH4. The way I think the KH gang(s) might meet Merida is if they happen to see her at the archery contest first. They see the contest happening and how amazing she is at archery. So, after the contest, they decide to head into town and ask around. Maybe to ask for information about Sora, or perhaps Kairi feels a connection coming from the castle. Since what I've gathered from the games is that Kairi still is a PoH? But anywho, Merida runs away, and boom! Movie plot happens!

I can feel this kind of route going similar to the Tangled world, where the gang gets separated from Merida for a little bit. But then they run into Mama Bear Elenor and find out what happened. I feel like having the player saving everyone from Mord'u when Merida finds the castle ruins would be an intersting fight, or maybe there would be a mini-game where you have to help Merida catch fish in the river. Although I can see the main point of this plotline being where the player has to help change Merida's mom back. With either Mord'u or even King Fergus as a boss fight near the end.

🌊 Moana : Okay this one I've seen everywhere, and I can see why this would make a cool world in KH! Moana is a really popular princess and she has such a cool story that I feel would fit Kingdom Hearts really well! I can imagine going similar to POTC world, where the gang ends up in the middle of the ocean. Although maybe instead of finding an island or finding Moana, they accidently arrive at the Realm of Monsters tower and fall in. Soon after, they find Maui and Moana and you have to fight Tamatoa. I can imagine that being a pretty crazy fight.

As for mini-games and special mechanics added to this world, one has to be sailing. That's the main mode of transport so maybe it can be similar to the Pirates of the Carribean world, but instead of a ship you have to maneuver Moana's boat. As well as take a look at the correct constellations in the sky so can move in the right direction. Kinda of like a "find-the-clue" game except with a starry sky! Although, as another boss fight, or maybe even a mini-boss, you have to outrun the Kakamora who are throwing coconuts or little arrow thingies at you.

🪶 Pocahontas : This one I’m kinda excited for too! Seeing as, in my opinion, Pocahontas is super underrated. Plus, it'd be cool seeing Sora and the gang dressed up like formal English men/women arriving on the ship! Although, since I don’t want a repeat of Moana or Jack Sparrow’s world maybe instead of arriving on a ship, they just kind of show up in the forest? Or by the camp and get mistaken for some do the crew mates? 😅 I feel that would make sense but it would also be cooler so have everyone meet Pocahontas first.

However, it would be interesting to get another forestry area or exploring along the rivers would be cool. I think it's been awhile since we had once other than Winnie the Pooh; I know we had Arendelle and Corona but I mean a world that's all vegetation! Such as the Deep Jungle or the Enchanted Domain, those ones were so amazing looking! Plus they looked like larger terrains so I feel like there's more to explore. Although, if we further look into mini-games for this world, I'm not really sure? Especially since the Pocahontas plot is a little more serious than most Disney Princess movies.

🍬 Vanellope : Okay this prompt won't be too long, but this one I feel is just a guess as well? I saw a video on YouTube saying that since Wreck-It-Ralph was a supporting summon in KH3, we might see Game Central Station at some point. And I can agree with it that would be awesome! But for some reason I feel it's kind of a stretch to have Vanellope be a Princess of Heart?? I think?

🐸 Tiana: This one I have to put on here and I can almost guarantee Tiana is going to be in the next KH game! She's one of the last princesses to get a classic 2D movie, so it would be so magical to explore New Orleans and the Bayou! Plus, even though this setting takes place in modern day-ish America, it still has the colorful atmosphere that fits the Kingdom Hearts vibe perfectly! Plus, it would be funny to see the main cast as animals again like in the Lion King. Not necessarily frogs but other woodland or swampy critters!

Now I feel most of this section of the game would be navigation as well since Tiana and her friends have to get through the swamp in the movie. But I feel entering the Mardi-Gras would be pretty fun, maybe even at the end for dancing like in Rapunzel's world! Although, unfortunately that's all I can think of at the moment...

1: Nick Valentine

- He is the only one that seems genuinely interested and devoted to helping you on your journey and find what you’re looking for, Shaun.

- I respect that he prides himself on a sense of serving justice, his story is good and it was genuinely very interesting for me.

- Doesn’t talk.

- Never hates you, you can do anything around them.

- You can dress Dogmeat up in collars, bandanas, canine armor, headgear and more.

- Dogmeat will also play with a teddy bear if you give it to him- what a dope guy.

- Is a dog.

3: Codsworth

- Bro is loyal to you even after 200 years. This robot is my real son, he calls me mum. Fuck you Shaun.

4: Curie

- She is literally my wife.

- I adore her voice and accent.

- Supplies me stimpacks which is epic.

5: John Hancock

- Gives me Jack Sparrow vibes. He’s a big smart ass while simultaneously being high asf all the time and it greatly amuses me

- He’s also a big flirt. What a loveable douchebag!

6: Preston Garvey

- Rose why is Preston of all people so high? Yeah, “a new settlement needs your help” can be annoying sometimes, but I personally really like the minutemen quests.

- He just wants to help everyone and with everything and he’s willing to admit that he isn’t strong enough to do it on his own. That makes him the strongest character in my eyes, sure he’s weak in combat but that’s a trait that really speaks to me.

- He knows he isn’t a hero and he’s willing to admit that. But he still strives to be that perfect person, even if it’s far from reach.

- Bonding with him hits hard, I don’t romance him but I love having him as a very close friend. Especially when he opens up to you about how he contemplated suicide. To keep going when you’ve gotten down that low with yourself is also really strong.

- In short I know it’s not a popular opinion, but I love Preston.

7: Paladin Danse

- Best fighter IMO.

- I really like his story esp with helping him improve his view points on the Commonwealth and Synths, as well as himself who ofc, happens to be a Synth.

- Even if he never stops being ENTIRELY racist, even to his own kind.

- He’s very pretty for a boy.

8: MacCready

- Best companion if I wanna be a sarcastic menace.

- Also if I want to get up to some mischief, like stealing and shit.

- His sarcastic dialogue is the best he’s very funny and I love that he plays off of whatever you say.

- Gives me ammo randomly THANK YOU.

- Also his perk is like broken, it’s fucking awesome.

9: Piper

- Super sweet and nice.

- Gives me snacks.

I thought it was going to be easy, as I listen to a ton of instrumental music, because I also like to always have music in the background! But going off of vibes, this is how I associate music to my fic "Wherever you go, there you are":

"Miasma" by Ghost. This is Ravonna’s theme song. This one, I feel like, it encapsulates Mage!Ravonna perfectly. And that saxophone solo? Groovy! Just like her and her bard side. It also feels like a beautifully threatening song, in a way, and I think it fits her perfectly. The second song for her, because I simply cannot only choose one is "Faronell's Division" by John Playford. This one represents her sassyness as well as her impulsiveness, with all the changes in rhythm

For Miraak, I'm going with "Gnossienne No.5" by Erik Satie, because of the ✨️gentleness✨️ and this song heals the soul, and he's a healer, sooo yeah. The second one I choose for him is "A watering hole in the harbor" by Adam Skorupa; this is such a joyful song, and I feel like it really encapsulates the "I have no idea what y'all are doing, but I'm joining in and I'm so happy to be here" vibe that Miraak has once he gets more comfortable and lets go of the Miraak persona and embraces his true self <3

Now for the WYGTYA as a whole and general vibes:

I find myself listening to "Thunderbrew" by David Arkenstone a lot while writing, and since it has such a tavern-y vibe to it, this could be the theme for the fellowship whenever they are at a tavern having fun, drinking, eating and being in their natural habitat 🤣

"People of the land" by Jan Valta is the absolute perfect song for showing beautiful landscapes of both Morrowind and Skyrim, while also being the perfect song for Ravonna’s inner struggles to figure out whether she feels more at home in Skyrim, the land of her people, or in Morrowind, the land where she grew up. This is also the Civil War storyline theme, in my heart :')

"City of Sails" by Inon Zur is a theme that I don't know how to explain, without giving away spoilers :)))) It has ties to Ravonna's family, but will also represent the land of High Rock (yes, the story will go there too🤣) Also this one is one of those songs that I am kind of emotionally attached to, for some reason. I just wish I lived within this song, in a way.

For Endryn, I have "Tavern" by Jason Hayes, this one is pretty obvious, he is my beloved innkeeper dunmer oc who adopted Ravonna. He was very friendly, kind, stressed and quite funny, dad joke expert.

For Hjaldir, my other beloved oc, the nord bard that worked at the Inn where Ravonna grew up, because he is an ex-pirate, I'm going for "Moonlight Serenade" by Klaus Badelt. I don't associate him with the character Jack Sparrow all that much, but this song draws the perfect image of a charming and charismatic pirate, and the tune is incredibly melodious, so it really fits his bard persona well! Also, the intense part is perfect for his adventurous and danger-filled life. He's got many, many stories from his pirate days 😉

Willy lunges, way too close and way losing his cool. “You’ll what? You’ll fuckin’ what, no, please, enlighten me, because last I checked, you can’t do jack shit!”

“I wonder why-”

“I should’ve killed you all when I-”

Sparrow, as per usual, pipes up just when things are getting fun, from where he has his back to Lark’s. “Back the fuck up-”

“-and maybe I wouldn’t be in this fuckin’ mess-”

“Guys!” TJ is just out of Lark’s sight, but he can picture the expression on his face pretty clearly- clearly enough that he shuts up. “Chill the fuck out, okay? We’re in this-” painfully- “together, right now, Jesus Christ, and the longer we’re stuck in here the worse it’s gonna get. It’s like…”

“Like Big Brother,” Grant offers.

“Whose big brother?”

“1984?” Willy rounds on Sparrow. “You haven’t read fuckin’ 1984?”

TJ blinks. “Yeah, like, with the ‘there are five fingers’ and shit, but that’s not-”

“No, no, the reality show, they lock a bunch of people in a house and by the end they all, like, hate each other.” Lark’s pretty sure Grant’s getting his strongest what the hell are you on look since the Habanero Incident of ‘31. Like, he’s on the edge of hysterics (which he is) about some fucking TV show. “It’s a thing! It’s been a thing for like forty years.”

“Oh my fucking God.”

“Marco likes it!”

“Oh? And how is Marco?”

“I dunno, Willy, how about you tell me? You’re the one who’s been out on the town stirring up a fuckin’ panic.”

“Stirring shit, more like.” Lark interjects.

“Endangering our kids,” TJ mentions.

“Seducing Nicky’s ex,” Sparrow adds. “While we clean up your mess.”

“TJ.” God, Grant sounds like his mom sometimes. And the patented Carol Wilson Cut-It-Out Stare… Lark wheeze-laughs despite himself. They’re all just- ridiculous.

“What?”

“That’s how Glenn fucking died, you wanna die?”

“I mean, kinda!” TJ makes a sound halfway between a laugh and the sound Lark imagines a dying baby moose would make.

“Same,” he replies reflexively, at the same time that Sparrow says, “Jeez, dude, do you need to talk to somebody- Lark, come on.”

“You come on.”

“That doesn’t make any sense.” Sparrow leans back, knocking his head against the back of Lark’s.

“Ow.”

“That didn’t hurt.”

“Yeah it did, ‘cause of your fat head.”

“Maybe if yours wasn’t so damn hard.”

My favorite thing about cosplay

The best thing for me about cosplay, is going outside, and putting a smile on someone's face.

There is a mandalorian walking down main street or wherever it is and that is something that people don't see every day.

And not for everyone, but for some, that brings joy.

I want to make some foam swords, and i want to duel random people i see. Once as a kid i got to swordfight a captain jack sparrow cosplayer, and that is something i remember to this day. Wherever that person is now, they have inspired me to do something similar. I'll probably be an elf, or a jedi, or a medival knight, but the concept is the same.

Cosplay is something near magic for me, it brings the fictional into the real world. And for every few people who think its weird, or don't care, there's someone else who i can make smile. and in my opinion that is pretty darn cool.
