Sorry, I havent been active that much. I'm back 2 school so I haven't had time to draw but thanks to how easy the assignments are I've gotten 25 credits so far this quarter, I'm speedrunning the educational system. Anyway I've actually been working on a drawing these last 2 weeks, im chipping away at it every day about 15 minutes. I'll probably upload it before totk releases but I'm really excited to release it! The composition is a little weird, and I haven't done anything like it before, so its not the best but its good practice. My anime sketching has gotten better, even if all my practice is small practice segments of me drawing the same anime faces over and over lol. Also every art advice video I watch has really been hammering the use of references when learning so I'll probably look at reference when drawing from now on instead of being lazy ehehe. Anyway I just posted a practice sketch from earlier. Im preparing for my next drawing idea. I want to revisit sad princess tetra so I'm studying how to draw darker skin, drawing brown skin should be easy to me because my mom has darker skin but idk sometimes I make my chars too yellow prob because I'm also too yellow like the simps sons 💯 Ok I'm going to bed ily goodnight! my mini essay about how much i love haikyu bc i need to express it pls

oh gosh idk what’s come over me but i could not be happier honestly.

after watching the dumpster battle move in theaters last month, i feel like ive been thrown into a full fledged haikyu phase that i missed out on both in 2020 (but it’s fine i heard it was also horrid at times during this, but lowkey looked fun LOL) and when i watched it for the first time in 2021 (ik im a little late to the game… don’t remind me)

when i watched it for the first time, i obviously loved it. but it’s hitting so much harder now—how im both reading the manga from volume 1 to rewatching the series (loosely) side by side. and i rarely rewatch anime’s unless it’s casual random ep (i.e ohshc or hxh for me hehe)

something about it this time means so much more. haikyu gets me so excited, hyped, happy, and so emotional. i don’t even play volleyball, but i do love the sport! yet it makes me feel like i can fly too 😭😭 i wish i was able to witness this series during its first release (i would’ve been in middle school!!) and i feel like it would hit so hard to grow up with them and the series 🥹 but it’s okay—timing is everything. even 3 years is a while already too.

but i’m so glad to have haikyu rekindle this spirit of excitement and motivation in my life right now. the story. the characters. how they all grow and develop and improve. and the themes about teamwork, believing in yourself, passions, hard work, everything in between just reminds me and teaches me so much in my own life too. i could go on and on but this is only a mini essay after all haha. i just love it so much.

thank u furudate for creating such a masterpiece. this piece of work changed the world and so many lives. even mine. and ik this might sound corny but idc. i really do love haikyu and what it means to me. everything about it, it makes me want to live that way too—to go after my dreams and believe in myself and cultivate my passions and work hard and find a community and live my life the way i want. so simple but powerful at the same time.

it makes me sad that the manga is over and we’ll only be getting another movie (literally robbing us…. i’m still manifesting for a new season idc idc i’m in denial) but i know haikyu is always there for me whenever i need it. and look, i can rewatch it, reread it over and over again. bc the spirit of haikyu goes on forever always!! we keep on flying higher!!!

for years and years and years despite hunter x hunter being one of my favorite animanga of all time id only read like the first couple chapters of the post anime manga. but last week i finally finished the casual reread i'd been doing over the past 4 years (had a good pace earlier this year reading a chapter between productive stuff but then got to gon confronting pitou and kept crying too much to just casually do that for a while lol)

and now i've been reading the succession contest arc!!!!

i cant believe i never got around to it til now.

i definitely picked up a lot through people talking about it around me throughout the years but there still was so so much i didnt know about.

hunter x hunter was so formative to me starting when i was just like 14 and it really influenced my tastes and perspective when engaging with stories from then on

so especially right after doing a recent reread (and rewatch with my brother) through so many parts that are just Ingrained in my brain at this point with how foundational they are to me its so crazy

like. what do you mean the story immediately continues right after that and immediately builds on so many of the concepts and themes and plot threads that have long since calcified in my mind as foundational and unchanging things i reflect back on while engaging with other stories. but its the same story!!!! and i could have been enjoying all that i’ve read so far (up to 386) since my late teens if i’d just made the time and picked it up on some random day!

in my recent rereads/rewatches ive reflected on how while i still really really love hunter x hunter, there’s definitely some parts that in revisiting as an adult with more experience i’ve outgrown a bit. but its crazy reading this arc because a lot of that it turns out the story actually grew with me. the ending of the anime makes sense as a sort of stopping point but its so so delicious to just keep going from there leaving gon like that and having a very obvious parallel with kurapika’s path. what a choice! also there are just so many intriguing women. really hxh at its best i dont think its just the novelty talking thats making me feel like this is my favorite arc. wow.

and apparently great timing!!! in the middle of writing this post i just remembered to check when hxh is coming off hiatus and its only in a couple weeks!

overall im doing aight so far this year. could be better i think

ive only cried twice this month😀 having some self-image/identity issues and managing to keep my sanity in check with Black History Month after that police brutality murder here in memphis and Ron Desantis bullying the College Board into turning AP Black History into a whitewashed history and Black Conservatism. i feel too hyperaware of the fuckery that is america. it feels like me and every other black person are the only ones really seeing this shit. its tiring and makes me harbor a different kind of hate in my heart for the concept of whiteness that i didnt even know was there. its somewhat hard to see people’s humanity or feel safe around them. i hate to even say this, but since something major happened january, maybe nothing will happen this summer unlike May 2020. im trying to take it one day at a time tho... hehe

you probably weren’t expecting all that but i figured id turn this into a general post😭 sorry if this was too much, even the non heavy stuff. i know when people ask how someones doing they’re prolly asking for something simple but this feels more like a diary entry than anything.

yor is such an amazing character, besides being really pretty her character development and how she always strives to be the best for her family is what i love about her too! csm trio is hilarious 😂 the differences in each of their personalities creates such a good dynamic surprisingly hahaha. so far i have no idea which character i like from csm since ive only seen a few episodes but itd probably be aki or power! as for sxf i also like yor and anya both. their relationship is one thats warmed me to my core everytime i see them interact :')

yes mushikaburi-hime came out this fall season! i love the prince/princess kind of shoujos bc i havent seen many animated and it just catches me off guard some times with how the main couple interact.

hmm i would say i am a big fan of pastel colors! they are just so pretty and soothing to look at, and i especially love the color pink and blue! my top anime i would say is attack on titan. i’ve fallen in love with it at the beginning of this year because the storytelling and plot twists just blows me away. it has such a strong story and a great cast of characters. it’s kept me hooked from the beginning and the way isayama writes different relationships in the story just makes my heart cry 😭 ALSO ALL OF THE SOUNDTRACKS ARE SO GOOD

my other top anime would be demon slayer!! the animation and the characters are just so so 🙏🙏🙏👌👌 i feel like the story is really fun even if it’s simple and easy to follow. my third one is probably tied with haikyuu or hxh! i cant choose between these two haha. i always cry whenever i watch hq since it’s genuinely so wholesome and i love all of the teams so much. meanwhile all of hxh’s arcs are really strong and compelling, i’ve probably rewatched them all so many times over and i haven’t gotten bored of it yet! do you have a top 3 of your own my santa? c:

ah ha ha ha omg. oh please don’t be fooled by my (entire 😳🙄) mobile theme. i’m just a big fan of…rukia! and ichigo! and the ss squad captains! but of bleach? i have complicated feelings overall with the whole series lol. anyway, hmm lately huh…good that you havent checked my anilist for this cuz it wont give you very much. my history calendar there is so blank nowadays compared to half a year ago! for anime, i’m only watching sxf, csm, and tybw in the current season. and that’s mostly because they fall on a good sched. i usually watch more but idk i just haven’t gone to look at the season’s list and i’m pretty sure some of the other top series are new seasons of existing anime! for manga, i also have not read much lately. only ones i’ve kept up with this year was kaguya-sama and tokyo revengers. the former having finished weeks ago, and the latter’s ending is…this week OTL… so actually recently ive spent more time rewatching comfort shows rather than picking up new ones, and then playing games and just different hobbies lol. i rewatched bleach until grimmjow, random hxh, db, and digimon episodes, and then i couldnt stop myself but watch some detective conan eps (i dont want to be updated cuz there’s only less than 1100 eps now and it’s almost updated with the manga, and im at ep 1000+ now too)

I'm personally like halfway thru da chimera arc but ive been rewatching it w her. She just started greed island 🤕🤝 also im only including characters shes vocalized her opinions on !!

Gon: she really doesn't have an opinion on him. He's the main character, and obviously the whole plot revolves around him so :]

Killua: at first she was shocked about the whole assassin thing but at this point i think shes forgotten its even a thing 💀 she thinks he has an important part to the plot but nothing specific to say

Kurapika: he's boring. however she enjoyed the whole phantom troupe thing.

Leorio: she essentially thinks he's worthless 😕 she said he mooched off everyone during the hunter exam and says all he does is yell 💀💀💀 (i strongly disagree with her 🙄)

Tonpa: for some reason she actually seemed to agree with things tonpa said 💀💀 i think she liked him

Hisoka: she didn't like him at all until midway through yorknew. She thinks his character is interesting enough, but definitely thinks he's a little...☝️😄 yeah.

Chrollo: SHE HAS RIGHTS ☝️🙄 SHE THINKS HES PRETTY and she thinks he's a good fit to lead the phantom troupe. overall i think she really likes chrollo

Illumi: she can't remember his name, and doesnt have an opinion on him 💀💀💀

Uvogin: she didnt like him at all.

Pakunoda: she hasn't really said much about her, she's kinda indifferent.

Shalnark: doesnt understand his ability, but otherwise thinks hes ok

Phinks: she thinks hes "the leorio of the phantom troupe"

Kortopi and bonolenov: she thinks theyre scary as fuck (AS SHE SHOULD 💀💀 WAIT UNTIL SHE SEES BONOLENOV WITHOUT HIS BANDAGES MF LOOKS LIKE A CHEESE GRATER)

Nobunaga: she seems to like him fairly well.
