There isn’t really too much to tell on this front.

My first real job, fresh out of university, was working at the local college, assisting students with learning needs with their studies, especially Art Students.

Hated it to tell you the truth. But the students were fun to hang out with.

Learning support staff are usually one of two things- either older ladies who’s kids have left the nest, or young adults about to go into full time teaching.

Rick’s Sister-in-law happened to be one of the women I worked with. And she was nice enough! Very willing to show me the ropes.

But I had had no idea who she was until we both turned up that faithful morning, to work in floods of tears.

And I asked my boss at the time why she was crying and my boss asked me why I was crying. And I said it was because Rik Mayall had just died.

And my boss just gave me a deadass stare and said:

“So...why do you reckon MRS MAYALL is crying?”

...Man I have had some stupid moments but that’s really one of my worst. My mother, who worked in the same department just shook her head and left me there feeling a complete tool.

Don't ask me; I've devoted my life to the procurement of shitty fanfic. Haha, no, I'm not a big fic reader (at least not when it comes to The Godfather), so I can't vouch for any full-length stories, but the short imagines, like the ABCs Of posts by @droogiesanddiscourse and @russian-soft-bitch, that have shown up the tags have been good. I like anything that builds on Michael's personality. We never really know exactly what Michael is like before his circumstances act upon him; not even in the early scenes with Kay do you get the complete picture, so any insight into his character, even of the fictional variety, is welcome.

(There's a line in The Thorn Birds that always reminds me of him: "She was like a lighthouse, he thought; flashes of grief every time her mind came round to that pitch of emotion which was too great to be contained. A huge flare, and then a long period of nothing.")

@x-wouldyoukindly was working on a Michael fic a few months ago. I don't know if they've made any progress on it, but that is one I would like to read when it goes up!

I actually tried my hand at writing a short Godfather story two years ago—more of a drabble, really.  It grew out of a conversation I had with a friend and was by no means meant to be a serious piece. I just did it for fun and wrote down the first thing that came to mind. Set c. 1979, it was about Tom's reaction to Michael's new short hairstyle, lol. I actually liked it; I'm just kind of shy about sharing my creative writing. But it's been so long that there's enough distance between now and when I wrote it that I'm less self-conscious about it than I was in 2019. So maybe I'll post myself~

At the peak of quarantine in 2020, I hosted a livestream of Nobuhiko Obayashi’s chaotic masterpiece, HOUSE (1977). In the group chat with @fruitcage and our friend Roxy (the artist formerly known as elizabitchtaylor), we came up with the idea of ‘70s-style track shorts in the style of the movie’s @criterioncollection cover, created by artist Sam Smith*.

Three years later, I finally sat down to illustrate these track shorts.
