Why Pantalone Could Be An Incredibly Interesting Character: Yet Another Genshin Ramble

Pantalone, the 9th Harbinger and the richest man in all of Teyvat. Like most harbingers currently, we know very little about him, but the small tidbits we have gotten, with Yelan's character and the Pale Flame sands, the Moment of Cessation, paints a little bit of the potential for an interesting character.

The Moment of Cessation's lore is as follows:

Pantalone resents the gods for not having a vision, despite his ambition. He wants money for the power of it, to have a hold upon the world and gods that had shunned him. Part 1 of him being an interesting character is him not having a vision is a good jumping off point to probe deeper into the meaning of Visions.

Another interesting point is his backstory is also a fascinating parallel to Ningguang. Both were born into poverty but rose out of it to become extremely wealthy, both lust after wealth, and Ningguang considers Mora to be infinite and on Pantalone's side, with the Gnosis, it could very well be infinite for him. Putting on my theory hat though, I feel like he also resents it, as Mora was one of the creations of a god, and I think this would be an interesting place to split the parallel from. Where Ningguang saves her money, Pantalone spends it to gain footholds across Teyvat because he wants to be the hand that stops the heartbeat of Mora and destroy the value of it.

In one fell swoop, he could show the world the power of Mora, and peel back the curtain to show the absolute devastation that could be wrought for their reliance on it.

It's just a theory, and it could be the anti-capitalist in me (plus this being fiction), but, king shit.

Now, what is more likely is the fact that Pantalone will probably star or even be a boss in Yelan's second story quest (she better get one). And I'm going to be honest, if what I said turns out to be true, I hope he wins. Not because of personal bias, but it would be an interesting way for the story to go. If I could criticize Genshin, the Traveler always wins and with the help of all the peoples, they beat the bad guy and makes the nation a better place. But what if it wasn't the case this time? If Pantalone wins, he would affect the world in a meaningful way, everybody would have to find a new path, and it could be a further avenue to explore Pantalone, because what happens to him once he wins?

I'm going to build a pool and push him in and then I'm going to remove the fucking ladder and stare at him, drink in hand as he frantically paddles around until just before he stops. And THEN I will rescue him and give him a tiny bit of goodness. Just a bit to keep him alive and hopeful. Send him on his way just like that. All patched up and no visible harm done. All that shit is inside. This badboy can store so much trauma and I'm going to test the limits of how much I can pour in until surface tension breaks.

What a global strike would look like is:

calling in sick to work

purchasing bare essentials ahead of the week so you can observe the general boycott of goods / buying as little as you genuinely can

putting in a concerted effort to elevate Palestinian voices and make it clear that this strike is in support of a permanent ceasefire!
