Not only denji and makima are there, there are also characters from eve's previous MVs present in the audience!

I dont know who the characters you caught are but there is a good chance they are from a previous MV too. Or maybe its a referance to another thing idk.

This is just a short little post about E ve’s latest music video Fight Song. As a big fan the original song and music video the protagonist (Tobi) appears in, How to Eat Life, I could talk about how this expands his lore (wdym he got a light novel back in September??), but this post is just pointing a few of the numerous Chainsaw Man references littering the video.

Spoilers for Part 1 of CSM

The fact that Tobi kills enemies by eating them with his backpack (the supernatural “alter ego” of Tobi) allows him to fit into the role of “Chainsaw Man” quite nicely, considering the Chainsaw Devil can erase other devils by consuming them.

The biggest elephant in the room, however, is the “new” little girl accompanying Tobi throughout the video.

She is clearly intended to reference Nayuta. In both appearance, as a young girl with yellow eyes and horns (the horns being in reference to her initial concept from Yogen no Nauyta, also by Fujimoto), but also story. At the end of How to Eat Life, Tobi consumes the headless white dragon which has been chasing him throughout the video. Now, in Fight Song she has a new form and is being protected by Tobi. Her older design also wears a white dress, reminiscent of Makima, and is placed on a throne–a symbol of power/authority.

While the original ending to How to Eat Life was likely unrelated, the parallels here seem pretty intentional.

Despite not being a direct match, the choice to include a shot of a younger Tobi at the end of the alleyway makes me think of younger Denji and his trauma alleyway. (There were alleyways depicted in How to Eat Life, and I know the light novel discusses Tobi’s childhood, so it may also be a reference to content from there).

(This isn’t related to CSM, but just had to mention how much I love Tobi buying the dragon girl a Happy Meal)

The hand symbol made by the antagonist is the same as the hand symbol Aki uses to summon/use Kon.

Tobi falls into the dumpster at one point, which makes me think of two pivotal scenes where Denji is in a dumpster: him forming the contract with Pochita and/or when he promises Power he’ll befriend the Blood Devil. (Though clearly isn’t one-to-one for their story beats)

Unlike the original video, the main colour is no longer orange but red. This causes many scenes to have darker lighting (so the orange looks more red) making Tobi’s hair seem darker in the process. This could also be attributed to his manga appearance having darker hair than in How to Eat Life, but helps Tobi look more like Denji particularly in these shots, where it looks like he has blonde hair with red eyes:

But yeah, glad to see this dude in a video again and had to discuss some aspect of it.
