Adding on to my The Batman post, I forgot to mention how much I adore the way they handle the no killing rule. In terms of plot, I don't think it's mentioned at all as a sticking point. He won't kill and that's that.

But there's one particular scene. Carmine and Selina. Bruce has just punched Carmine to the ground, saving Selina's life, and is now trying to wrestle the gun away from her. She tries to convince him. "He has to pay!"

And right here is where I thought that stupid classic line was gonna be. I could see it coming like a freight train. "If you kill him, you'll be just as bad as he is." But then... I'm wrong. It doesn't happen. Instead, Bruce makes a very different statement.

"You don't have to pay with him. You've paid enough."

And with that, he gets the gun and Carmine is arrested. There's no moral high ground, there's no shitty logic.

Bruce has seen what The Roman has done. Who he's hurt. What he's taken away. Selina's mother. Her girlfriend. Bruce's own parents. He knows better than anyone the need for revenge. For justice. But he also knows that this man before him, lying bloodied on the floor, has taken enough. He's taken their families, their morals, their innocence. But he doesn't get to take away their lives. He doesn't get to have that power.

And then Carmine is shot and killed anyway so Selina got what she wanted in the end either way.

Anyway, I used Ren'Py! If you want to look at the code for it, then if you download it, everything should be easily accessible as .txt files in the "game" folder. I also credited the code I based the dialogue box on at the end/in the info section of the game. The game basically runs in NVL mode, but the NVL box is inside a viewport (the scroll you see). I was heavily riffing off of Disco Elysium's format, since something like that worked best for the half-NVL half-ADV style I wanted.

I started rewatching The Artful Dodger because the Season 2 renewal reminded me of just how good this show is and, wow, it’s just as great as I remember it being!

it makes me so sad that oso san isn’t as popular as many other anime out there i mean— come on its so unhinged like its so funny— its also my favorite anime of all time 😕

yes i know its a bit popular in its native japan but in other parts of the world— its quite niche and its hard to see people talk about it 🥺

and yes the humor is crude but still— i wish more people knew about this hidden gem-

hell it even has a really funny english dub (its as funny as the original japanese version) that gives off major ghost stories energy (tho it only covers the first two seasons and idk if the third season or the upcoming 4th season will get dubbed at all)

this is an anime i highly recommend checking out if ya’ll are into gag humor— or just comedy/slice of life in general— though quick warning as i said before there are a lot of dirty jokes so please watch with caution

Finished watching Kaos, it was a really fun and creative (and queer, as it should be) take on greek myths. I really like that they didn't stick to simply retelling the myths, but instead they made them into new stories and weaved them all into a larger narrative. I would have loved to watch a second season if there ever was one.

Now, I wouldn't be saying anything new if I said fuck Netflix for cancelling such a good show, but I will say FUCK NETFLIX, because I wouldn't have even heard about this show if I didn't scroll down to the comments on a video complaining about their business model. Kaos came out two months ago, and by the time I heard about it, it's already been cancelled.

So yeah. Fuck Netflix.
