gregory edgeworth really is the character of all time. he haunts the entire narrative. he's a perfectly normal single dad. he's the doomed hero of a shakespearean tragedy. he just wants his son to make friends. the fatal flaw that dooms him is his determination to fight for others at the expense of making powerful enemies that would have ended him even if the elevator hadn't broken down. he apologizes to witnesses for asking them to recall potentially traumatic memories. he's an oathbreaker paladin. he wonders what kind of candy animal a witness thinks he would be. he's the ruin of the fey clan. there's a non-canon story where he hears that his client is having skin problems in the detention center and he immediately gets up and leaves to buy some hand cream for her. he would, and did, break the world for his son.

I'm playing turnabout sisters myself for the first time. I make sure to click on everything you can examine and oh my god the amount of characterization for Mia Fey just from examining her office makes me cryyy

Mia Fey who names her plants. Mia Fey who has a framed poster of her favorite movie in her office. Mia Fey who has very neat handwriting. Mia Fey who is terrible with technology. Mia Fey who bought an old ass computer which she only ever uses when sending emails. Mia Fey who owns many many law books that she has read back to back multiple times. Writing Phoenix is so much fun, especially with Bratworth. Like you'd think that because Miles is already a bitch, and Phoenix is the guiding moral light in his life, Phoenix is supposed to be this pure, optimistic, ray of sunshine that little by little manages to soften Miles by thawing out the icy exterior he has built around himself. But no. No no no. Because Phoenix is also a bitch. He's a sarcastic little cunt who judges everyone and everything. He's always one step away from completely crashing out and just flipping the entire defense's bench at someone. Does Phoenix soften Miles eventually? Yes. But he does it by physically breaking the ice with his bare hands if he needs to. 21-year-old Miles never stood a chance.
