first of all. latino and nb will. thank you. second of all. i am (obviously) obsessed with this author bc they KILLLLLL w burning intimacy. like you have no idea they write them like there is a twice burning fire only alive within them it's CRAZZZYYY. i also fckn LOVE that this is like. okay so the author says its plotless and it is kind of 45k of plotless, yes, but idk theres something to be said of love as a plot?? of learning and loving each other as a storyline.

Their eyes always meet in the halls. Her eyes are grey and shiny, and they make Percy think of stormy skies and marble sculptures. (She could be a marble sculpture, in the entrance of a museum, surrounded by scholars and artists and mesmerised passersby. Fucking beautiful in a way that only art ever is.) - - - Percy has had a crush on Annabeth since eighth grade. (He doesn’t know she likes him too.)

percy hitting the ground when annabeth kisses him 😭😭 HES SO REAL. i just recced this fic on instagram and i am here reccing it again bc it is EXCELLENT. i rly rly love to see pjotv percabeth in fic like i DO. theyre so fucking cute. and i LOVE how this author writes autistic annabeth!! it is so important to me!!! and this one is so CUTE like percy had such a huge crush on him.....like not just he liked her he had a CRUSH on her. god. i am melting.

hi lovelies!!! this was a brilliant starting point, and I think that this sets a good baseline of what to expect from how I write these characters, I adore them all and have my own understanding of them in my head so this is just my opinion. hope you enjoy!!!

Remus – big ol softie at heart- and he looks like one- gets possessive and snappy at the same time closer to the full moon. Chocolate is obvs his fave- but in my head he alternates between dark and milk chocolate- white chocolate is a crime against humanity. Calls his partner dove/ dovey, sweet/pretty/lovely (insert girl or boy or gender) and sunshine (purely because he’s the moon and I think that’s adorable). He loves tea, like obsessed- has to have decaf in evenings because he’s enough of an insomniac- but will have random nights where he’s dead to the world. 

Sirius – also a softie, all of them are lets be so fr- but he hides it behind the cocky, joker man bravado. Coffee addict- every morning, without a doubt- he def has a proper coffee machine because he makes the best coffee and no shop does it right anymore. He’s got snobbish tendencies, he’s trying to outlearn them but its tricky- he prefers m and s food, but the rest of them like a big tesco so he deals with it. Calls his partners doll, love, he’s def the type of guy to use my “x”, like, my love, my dear etc. I see him as being like the best big brother in the world, just exudes comfort and love and gives the best hugs ever. Also,  curls are always long and a mess and only washed when absolutely necessary 

James – eugh the sweetest most adhd ridden soul I’ve ever met other than myself- he’s so gentle but forgets how strong he is majority of the time, hell squeeze in a hug and accidentally hurt someone because he’s def got a sleeper build and forgets his physicality. This guy thrives off dr pepper and I don’t know why, but unfortunately with all the soft loveliness of him there is the gym bro side who will only eat fish and a ricecake some days because he’s doing some weird training plan, but we love him for it. Will happily yap for hours so when remus and Sirius want to sit and read or listen to their vinyl’s he has to be doing something more engaging because he just can’t.

Barty – big shoutout first to @ellecdc because shes an icon who introduced me properly to barty and ev and I’m obsessed now. Treasure is his nickname, tres for short and that’s the only thing hell call his girl other than *other* nicknames during *alone time*. He’s chaos but its organsied in comparisons to james’ pure chaos. He knows where he’s going, what his plans are and anything else like hours in advance, a manic planned person. He totally goes on weed walks, and only shares with people he genuinely cares about. Now there is the other side of barty, the teddy bear- bartybear, for shiggles and giggles, but he’s a sweetheart for those he loves and cares about, he knows violence as a consequence for everything and melts when he’s shown any form of affection and is so so open to learning to be gentle, I know that makes him sound like a dog but imagine him as a puppy and it just makes sense 

Reg – my sweet little love I will pass away before anyone says anything remotely bad about my boy. He’s a tortured soul, metaphorically and literally, he’s had the shittiest childhood out of all of them id say, not in the fact that he was hurt more, I don’t think he was hurt anywhere near as much as the others until Sirius left, but seeing his big brother, his protector, so hurt and trying to save him, then just being left? It makes sense he’s so withdrawn from himself, that’s a lifetime of trauma in a young boy. It takes a lot for him to open up, and he falls back on French for his emotions because then only the people who really care about him will try to understand, he needs love and safety and gentleness, and once he’s got that, the real reg shines through. He calls his partners French pet names, and he’s got the most hilarious dry wit that can make people fold over in laughter, dark humour is a coping mechanism and if there was a degree in it he’d have a phd. 

Evan -  ev. Now, I don’t know much about this beautiful soul, I think he’s the calmest of the slytherins, I love the dynamic I have in my head of him and pandora being the most hilariously yin and yan twins ever, and that they just complete each other. He’s jumpy, but he hides in in a strong boy bravado, but he’s also got the smarts, he’s worked for it, unlike barty who is annoyingly naturally so smart, ev puts in the work and sees the outcomes. He calls his partners sweets or something along those lines, I see him as a baby guy too, when he’s trying to convince you to let him do something so bloody stupid, overall, an angel and a devil in one, and I need to learn more about him. 

Pandora- only a baby bit about her for now, im not too involved in the marauders girls yet other than lily and marlene, but pandora, Dorcas, mary, alice- I want to know more and develop my ideas of them better, ill probably use their names for parties or other scenarios, but I will get there eventually with it. Pandora is a whimsical soul, she cares so deeply, she loves most people, and is just the epitome of luna, luna is a copy paste of her mum, and I will die on that hill. She’s naive sometimes, but the boys all look out for her, and they’d die and or kill someone before anything happens to her. 

Lily – the firecracker- an absolute icon in the meaning of the word, but also the sweetest most genuines soul ever. She loves her books and being clever and reaching her goals, she’s the kind of girl who has the five year plan moodboard under her bed, but she sprepared for anything and is first aid trained to the max and its so hilarious that the second anyone gets hurt they all just scream for her. Her hair is a mess when she sleeps but she brushes it the second she wakes up. She’s the type of girl to call her partner lovie, something short and sweet but she says it in a tone that just melts anyone she’s talking too, she screams maternal and will just coddle you whenever you need it, friend or partner. She thrives off of small touches, she hates pda but a hand on the back or a kiss on the head in passing makes her day. 

Marlene – marlene is genuinely the complete opposite to me, we share dark humour, but she genuinely doesn’t give a fuck what anyone says or does and she’s doing her own thing whether you like it or not. She’s hot as fuck and smokes and drinks and parties as hard as she can, she’s a wild heart but deep down a sweet soul. She doesn’t give fuck what people think of her, but she does push for her to succeed, she hates the thought of failure of being replaced and has attachments to her favourite people because she’s terrified she’s too much for them, but she knows how to handle it, she’s got this life long lesbian thing down to a t.

welcome to the thirty-fourth fic rec friday! where, on friday, i rec five of my favourite fics. 

1. Red Poppies by @icypantherwrites

Hanahaki (with a twist) AU — Lance has never experienced a case of Hanahaki this bad. He wishes he could say it’s just the amount of flowers he’s coughing up and desperately trying to hide from the team, just as he’s trying to hide the fact that he technically died at Omega Shield from them, but it’s not just that. It’s the fact he keeps choking out red poppies. And red poppies...

They symbolize death.

the most interesting take on hanahaki ive ever seen tbh. i know icy panther is known for her edgier storytelling, but this is one of my faves of hers! i like the originality of it, and of course i adore the addressing of the omega shield disaster

2. Voltron: Last Dialogue by @uncouth-peasant [IMPLIED CHARACTER DEATH]

After the events of Omega Shield, the Astral Plane has a visitor.

okay look i know everyone freaks about major character death but im asking u to read this anyway. for one its only IMPLIED, technically lance could still be alive, and also it’s just a really well-written fic. lance and shiro have so so so much potential with how similar their characters and arcs are, so i loved how this one explored that in its heartbreak

3. The Poison of Deceit by @icypantherwrites

This diplomatic mission is not going the way Lance had hoped. The diplomacy part on behalf of Voltron is going fantastic and Lance doesn’t think he’d be remiss in saying he had a large hand in that. But the whole impress Shiro bit is an epic fail as Shiro doesn’t seem to notice his efforts at all and it’s only worse with Keith showing him up at nearly every turn. The aliens they’re working on the alliance though have noticed his efforts. But as Lance stands here now, Shiro and Keith’s lives along with a vial of poison in his hands, he isn’t so certain that was a good thing.

the fuckin ‘i drank poison to save your life’ trope will NEVER get old idc idc. the heart dropping moment when the team realises that by doubting lance they may have cost him his life...insanity fr. like i eat this shit up every time

4. blind spots by @adelfie

Lance knows something’s wrong.

Keith turns his gaze on him, dark eyes latching onto him like an anchor.

Normally this is when Lance can think of something stupid to say to make Keith smile. Bonus points if he can get a laugh. Usually it isn’t hard — smiles come easy when it’s them. But something is wrong, and Lance knows that Keith’s smile will be the farthest thing from him if he says it.

blade pining down bad keith in startled awe of bamf lance...it eats every single time like lets be honest my friends. bamf lance in every flavour is delectable but through keith’s view????? oh god it’s something special

5. Isn’t There A White Knight by @bosstoaster-writing

Kink Meme FIll: "In the first episode, Lance says that Shiro is his hero. But Shiro is still just a guy in his mid twenties, and we've seen him join in on silly stuff ("Blam blam blam!").

So what I want is five times Lance sees Shiro do dorky, ridiculous things, and one time he realizes he'd still follow this dork to Hell and back."

C'mon, as if I could pass that up.

five plus one? check. lance learning to know his idol as a human? check. gentle and careful and clumsy relationships? check. and dorky loser goober shiro, my love and light? CHECK CHECK CHECK. this fic is so so fun. shiro should get the right to be a dorky goober at all times and anyone who writes that is my hero

some of my favorite fics focused on various members of the batfam!! this will mostly be fics i think deserve more recognition and love.

extant by arseniclatte ; a tim&jason focused fic in which janet comes back from the dead just to die in tim's apartment. also features a fucked up house and i do love my fucked up houses.

wither on the shore by Scarlet_Ribbons ; tim&jason&dick dealing with tim and his father. technically not a lesser known fic but i have to pair this with extant bc both fill a very specific niche of 'jason helps tim deal with his dead parents'. bruce is also there at the end but the focus is very much tim and jason and dick.

Gotta Roll With The Curveballs by Just_A_Poor_Boy ; duke&tim! i love duke so much, he is all times panicking in the most chill way. him and tim getting along is sooo good i love this fic so much.

The Spiciest Ghost by dandelioness666 ; a duke-centric fic!! mostly him trying to figure out dick, and his powers, which tim helps with. this is a birdflash fic but the main focus is very much duke and dick!

Author's Note by Trekkele ; jason&bruce fic in which bruce keeps an eye on the kind comments strangers leave on jason's fics and also notices when one of jason's fics suddenly updates years after his death. ao3 author jason my beloved.

only you will have stars that can laugh by silverwhittlingknife ; dick&tim fic taking place during christmas in which two lonely boys try to make some good memories during the holiday. if there is ever a dick&tim fic to read, it's this one.

not within this restless heart by Alienu ; if there is ever a tim&damian fic to read!!! its this one!!! taking place during quiet moments in the kitchen when no one else is awake, where they figure out how to be family.

coming out of my cave (and i've been doing just fine) - Anonymous ; in which tim is trans AND a dragon. there are. misunderstandings. very good tim-centric fic that fully embraces the fun of dragon tim.

Family Photos by KelpieCodyne ; tim-centric but has all of batfam involved. a look at all the eras of gotham's vigilantes that tim has photographed while stalking them through the night, followed by their attempts to find any photos of tim as robin or red robin. one of my faves fr.

Satisfactory Bonding Activities by raven_of_hydecastle ; tim and damian take over the world. literally what more could you want.

Here's a Reminder (That You Haven't Fallen Through the Cracks) by popsunner ; everyone bothers tim while he's trying to work bc they want him to know they love him. also duke continues to be the best. this is factually true (<- said by the most bias girl in the world).

it makes me happy to hear that people find realism in my characterization and stuff i guess just in general because i really do think its the one facet of my writing im completely comfortable in and i put in a lot of effort to sort of humanize them and make them feel more idk tangible.... SO IN GENERAL I GUESS IT MAKES ME HAPPY WHEN IT STICKS BC I DO FREQUENTLY JUST YAP ITS GOOD TO KNOW IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE

also while i think canon is a good lens fanfiction usually requires another lens entirely u have to pull from it and a lot of specific characterization and how it translates to action can be subtextual and difficult to navigate. NOT THAT IM VERY GOOD AT WRITING SUBTEXT ITS ACTUALLY MY WORST NIGHTMARE.... but either way MY POINT IS THAT IM HAPPY TO DO THAT FOR YOU AND ILY!!!!!!

MY FAVE SOLANGELO SERIES TBH. like is it toxic a little bit? yeah. did the second one make me squeamish? yeah. in the 6/7 years since its been posted, have i read it literally DOZENS of times?? you betcha. idk man theres something about the danger of it all. the insane mob boss and the doctor hes whipped for. SO SO much fun and so so so romantic

3. you stormed into the battlefield (of my heart) by fedyaism

“Doctor Solace,” he says, “would you be willing to tend to a foe?” Will blinks. (He had practically expected everything but this.) “I’m sorry?” “I need you to heal an enemy for me. Can you do that?” Grace asks in a tone that lets Will know that he wasn’t really asking. “An… an enemy, sir?” “Yes. I will send him to you.” “Of course, General.” (What else could he say?)

this ends ambiguously but i am Choosing to believe they find each other again and live happily ever after for ever and ever bc im a weenie. its just...man fuck the military and i got no fondness for war BUT this isnt real and ergo i can sigh dreamily at love that is inherently kind of tragic and all the more desperately beautiful for you, yknow??

4. It's a Process by @oh-hush-its-perfect

When Nico comes out to Hazel, she really isn't sure how to react. Of course, she loves her brother to pieces, but something is holding her back. It takes a while to get over old beliefs. It takes a while to become accepting. It takes Hazel a while indeed. A.K.A. Nico is gay and Hazel can't wrap her head around it.

contrary to what the summary may lead you to believe, hazel is NOT at all homophobic in this fic. in fact her number one goal at all times is to be supportive, even as she struggles, and you know what? thats more important i think. her love for her brother is so transparently obvious in this one, she spends like 8k words doing everything she can to make SURE she is loving and accepting!!! hazel i love you. also the campfire scene had me giggling fr

5. three times everyone thought they hated each other by lizamarri

and the one time everyone realized they didn't ~ ft. capture the flag, big three kids sparring, will healing nico and being sassy about it, and more. enjoy!

NOTHING hits as hard as flirt fighting. truly nothing. also 3+1s are my weakness i stg, theres just something about outside pov and the sheer clarity of how much they love each other and love driving each other up the wall lmfao

So she feels the general spikes in affection and enjoyment and other love affection stuff, and has plenty of experience with all sorts of matchmaking and love detection and whatnot All alicorns have their excentricities after all, and this is hers =v= So she absolutely is fully aware of what shes doing when she tells AJ and Rarity to bone before the ending lmao its like "Yo yall need more intimate time. Or was there certain scenes you just HAD to write first bc they were making you sleepless? What's the story behind the fic? Did u had the story in mind when u posted that first chapter years ago? Or was the support of the readers asking for a second part the thought that made you go: "I can totally make this a story"?

So, I decided to write the whole series before posting mainly so I could force myself to finish it! I’ve completed some series before by posting chapters on the fly… but I also have others which are unfinished with the concluding parts languishing in my drafts. So, I really wanted to know this was DONE, in part so I could escape the pressure / guilt (self-imposed) which sometimes comes with winging it. But also so I could give a satisfying conclusion to anyone who chose to kindly invest their precious time in it.

As well, omg. I felt so wrapped up with these characters that I sorta wanted to write their story free of external comments and perspectives. I felt like there were specific places I wanted them to go, and I wonder, if I had been responding to comments as the story was still unfolding, might I have started second guessing things or taking it in a different direction? And don’t get me wrong, comments are my FAVE thing, I live for hearing all the different takes and interpretations, and feedback has been endlessly helpful and meaningful to me. I’m grateful for every single one! I just sorta wanted to let the characters in my head have first dibs on where they wanted to go this time, you know?! ☺️ An honestly, most of the time I have NO IDEA where I’m going with something, but this time I had a little bit more of an idea of the arc I wanted, and so this made sense.

Practically, it was also so I could get the continuity right from chapter to chapter. A later moment might change my perspective on an earlier scene, and if I posted outright I wouldn’t have had the flexibility to make changes.

On that note, the flexibility turned out to be needed. Some things even changed pretty last minute.

I definitely didn’t write it chronologically. I jump around a lot when I write. It’s CHAOS!!!

Tbh, I never had any continuation or larger story in mind when this started, and I fully credit all of the wonderful readers of that one-shot for this being a thing AT ALL beyond that! Chapter 1, in its OG form, was actually my first EVER Santiago one shot, and I loved the pairing so much that, with encouragement, I resolved to do a “part 2”!

However, their situation is actually so complicated that it… wouldn’t resolve quickly, yk?! The characters needed more space to breathe and grow (and to go through some stuff). And so now it’s LONG. It just… expanded as the characters pushed it apart.

I had a blast 🤣🤣🤣

In terms of scenes that were making me sleepless? Hmm. I spent a LOT of time thinking and pondering and playing out variations in my head. A LOT. There’s a flashback scene I was itching to write for a very tender moment contained in it (that chapter is far too long gah). And there’s a scene between Santi and Frankie that’s a real highlight for me.

Also, I cried MANY times while writing this agshsjajshahkahshsjjaj.
