Some of these songs can go to multiple of the boys (most notably Wild, Twilight, and Legend; poor guys with girlfriend trauma).

Also disclaimer: this is mainly all of the songs I grew up with, so I won't have any songs from Owl City's newer albums (such as Cinematic and Coco Moon; especially Coco Moon as I haven't finished listening to that album at this time).

Legend

The first thing that came to mind was Strawberry Avalanche, since it kind of fits with the Koholint situation.

But I think the one that would best fit would be Angels (though it could also match with Twi and Wild).

For some more post-Koholint Angst, here's The Real World; I dunno, seems like a song Legend would belt out.

Twilight

Up All Night. No doubt. I've actually been thinking of this for so long I've been going crazy XD

Tbh he was kind of hard to assign an Owl City song to (like Four), so I think Meteor Shower might also fit for some Time Angst.

Wolf Bite. I know the title kind of suggests this should be Twi's song, but if you listen to it it kind of fits with the internal struggle that Wild goes through in the comics. (Plus if I could make animatics I would totally make an animatic of Wild to this song; ahhh I love Ultraviolet (the album this is from) so much).

Bird with a Broken Wing. Kind of self explanatory if you listen closely to the lyrics. (Actually, this could fit with Time... hm...)

post mortem for my orv animatic bc i have lots of thoughts and yall are gonna hear all of them (that is a threat)

first is the obligatory special thanks/plagiarism declaration section but a lot of the shots in this are inspired by the original changgwi lyric video which like. please watch it there's a reason this song is a classic animatic song on bilibili like the music is good but the video definitely helped. also speaking of bilibili, special shoutout to this arknights chongyue animatic that introduced me to the song that will haunt the next 8 months of my life!

the original inspiration was the thought that the verse of the spirit telling the story of its own death felt very yjh coded but it took like another week of stewing on it to have the idea of using the final chorus for the dkos arc which was the moment i decided i have to actually make this thing

going strictly by when i started putting pen to paper (pencil to ipad screen? whatever) this took almost exactly 5 months since i created the first drafts in february but the first 3 months ish from february until may were also my school semester so. most of the progress (id say about >60%) was done in the last two months of me working on this every moment i wasnt at work (or playing project sekai, for some reason)

also! funny little detail but counting the drafts and some discarded frames my procreate stack for this thing has exactly 49 artworks in it! neat little easter egg i guess (yeah 51 wouldve been more fitting but whatever)

this fully slipped by both me (at 2am) and my friend whom i sent the finished version to (fighting the flu) but in the final edit i didn't actually include the second half of the last lyric?? it's 'i will take you to the mountain god' i apparently just wrote 'i will take you' and never finished the rest LMAO

speaking of the lyrics i dont speak korean and im not a huge fan of most english translations of this song that exists so on multiple occasions i was so tempted to just use the chinese cover someone on bilibili did because then i'd at least be confident i know where the fucking line breaks were (there's one line at the end where im pretty sure i didn't edit on the line breaks correctly but that was more of an intentional compromise because the timings would've been off otherwise. anyway) tbh the only reason i didnt do that is the atmosphere and delivery of the original song is. really unbeatable like the cover's also pretty good but it doesn't quite achieve the same effect

also speaking of things i fucked up im aware i drew sys in the wrong outfit for the dkos fight but like. ok full disclosure my orv reference folder is a complete mess (theres like 400+ images in there. for some reason) so on net ive gotten character outfits wrong while working on this thing like at least 3 times bc id just grab a random webtoon screenshot from my folder and go w it. it's just that by the time i realised i fucked up i'd already finished drawing all of sys's frames and i was too lazy to go back and change all of them LMAO

anyway yeah some other random things i wanted to whinge about:

there's a lot of effects i wanted to do that didn't quite come across due to. lack of skill/time/patience/all of the above but the one im really annoyed about is the yhk postchorus bit with the 3 circles bc. first off i think i drew those while halfway dozing off on the train to school once because uh. yeah

anyway poor drawing aside id really wanted to recreate the sort of. drawn-in effect on the circles and lines that the original lyric video had but i could NOT for the life of me figure out a way to execute that in capcut so. here we are (also you cant put transitions on overlays in capcut so that's why those also looked so bad. youre welcome)

honestly my timeline for this in capcut looks pretty ridiculous bc if you want to do word by word animations/effects you need to pay for the pro version so my workaround was just to have like five thousand text layers with 1-2 words on it each (do not recommend btw)

speaking of the text im a moron so i kinda forgot to account for the text when drawing frames and wow you can tell. yeah next time im just hand writing the text fuck this

actually my original plan was to upload this the day dkos dies in the webtoon but a. i genuinely did think it was gonna be yesterday like i dont pay for the early access episodes so i was just kinda going off orvtwt LMAO b. i could feel myself burning out on this like the last few frames i drew for this were fucking dogshit so i figured either i finish it soon or i wont finish it at all

i will probably still draw something for dkos' death day though for those who celebrate (basically when i was thumbnailing for one of the frames in this i ended up with one that didnt fit the video aspect ratio at all but still looks pretty good so im promoting it to a full drawing. so look forward to that)

like for an idea of how fucking sick of this shit i was by like. last week pretty much like for the last few frames of the dkos fight i straight up forgot to draw dkos' wings and had to add them in halfway through editing last night. like that's how fucking out of it i was by then lmaoo

Im bad at explaining things in general 2. im no english grammar expert haha 3. tbh the only parts of krita i understand are the basic animations, i dont even know how to configure the cube haha and 4. it's 1AM, it's the second time i write all of this bc i did ctrl+z in accident and 90% of the mf post dissapeared and im goddam furious hahahaha.

now, with no more further ado, lets begin with my class!

First of all, i recommend you to save your workspace and put the Animation one that come by default, right here:

Looks a little messy, right? Worry not! Just configure everything in the Dockers until you're satisfied: (yes i dont have windows activated, fightme microsoft)

Now, i always use the default Animation Template (Animation-Japanese-En), but they usually come with lots of layers/groups that we don't really need, so i always delete them until the Layout Paper is the only group. Then i create a group for the Characters and another layer for the backgrounds (we'll get there later!)

And before actually getting in the timeline and shi, letme explain two points, they're important i swear!

Onion Skins menu: (at the right bottom of the screen)

Here you can configure all that has to do with seeing the past/next frame in the timeline for when you're drawing. The bars show how many past/future frames you want to see and their opacity, you can also change their colors. Once you're done with the config, you can just close it, to open it again just use the weird striped drop shaped button or choose it from the Dockers.

And the Animation Settings menu: at the right of the Onion Skins button.

Here you can see the starting frame from your project and the last one, but we're focusing in the Frame Rate. It comes with 24 FPS by default, but for simple animatics like mines 8 FPS are more than enough.

Now, going with the actual animation things.

To start drawing you don't actually need to make a first frame, but i think is more practical make that type of start an habit to yk, dodge bad moments haha

This move also works for imported images, since they come as layers and we need to make them actual frames by creating another frame at their right.

Talking about imported images, all my backgrounds are done in Sai2 since i feel more comfortable drawing there haha.

When we import more than one image, they become separated layers, and to combine them all in one we must make them frames and move all to one timeline (?)

+ if you dont pin the layer in the timeline they dissapear from it, but you can just select it again from the layer menu and they will appear again (you gotta pin it so they dont go).

now some personal preferences,,, i don't actually organize my timeline in any specific way, the only thing i want is having all the important layers at the display, so i re-use layers for different things (like the arashi/izumi layer is also used for tsukasa's hair that i forgot to draw in the first scene haha)

Still, to simplify and organize things a little more you can always color the timeline as you want, selecting a single frame or many as you want!

My last tip is that Copy a Keyframe is nOT the same as Clone one. Copy will make them a complete separate frame, while Cloning one will make them into another frame, but whatever you do will affect the original frame. I learned that by force :)

That's all i honestly know about animating in Krita, in terms of theory i have no idea what im doing 120% of the time, so forgive me if its messy or hard to understand hahaha.

Fav character/subject that's a bitch to draw - There are plenty of things I wish I was better at drawing at, that I would draw more if I thought my skills were up to par with what I imagine in my head (mostly cityscapes and backgrounds tbh when I do get a hankering I have so much fun). But right now in particular in the cyberpunk (Hollowpoint) campaign I'm in one of the pcs has a fucking mask that makes me want to commit crimes on their player. There is now a year long running gag about this man not fucking taking his mask off and how much easier its going to be for me to draw him once we see his face. I want to draw him more!!! I really do!! I love all of the pcs to death but like motherfucker, your mask (and hood tbh) is a nightmare stop.

8. What's an old project idea that you've lost interest in - I would be amiss to not bring up the Sburbia/Long Play tarot deck BUT its more like on hiatus, I'm just taking a big ol' break. Slowly been creeping through the swords so its still a work in progress just really slow now that most of the majors are out of the way. Other than that it's mostly animatics and animations. My animatics folder is called 'Animatics u will never do' because I realize most of the time I bite off more than I can chew. I've finished one (1) animatic and its the one that's pinned to the top of my blog. 9. What are your file name conventions - Haha. A mix. Sometimes snappy titles, sometimes just informational, sometimes just absolute garbage. Some favorites:

1. Three Ships: Uhhh so I'm in a weird place where I'm not actively shipping anything. Like don't get me wrong I still love many ships (I'm a super multi shipper, I have no idea how people dedicate their online everything to one ship) I'm just currently not actively pursuing certain ship tags rn... Hmm hxh's return reminded me of how much I love Leopika, I got into fe3h in this last year and I've read a silly amount of dimiclaude. Also finally got around to getting into mp100 and Terumob is so cute.

Genshin thats what people are here for but if I'm honest while I still am very into the game, I haven't read genshin fic consistently for a while and thats how I interact with shipping the most. Like I love Chili, theres a reason I have plans for that ship, but I haven't read a fic with them in forever (and in the more recent examples it was me searching for found fam harb content). I also adore Kaebedo but same story. I love a lot of genshin ships, many 'contradictory' (love Zhongven as well for example), I just haven't been brainrotting about any of them for a while. God that sounds so morose pfft, its really me just letting my brain take a break and experience other things! Also just know I do think about the final planned Zhongli and Childe scene in this fic (well for the main fic at least) every once in a while and grin like a loon. Hehehe I love it so much and rip its so far away (though also once I get there it'll be right near the end and that thought makes me sad).

Also I think about my fic specific ships a lot too. Sandy and Nella for example have a scene that brings me much amusement in a couple chapters (those 2 always bring me joy). Also I've been recently thinking about the ot3 that's a big old spoiler. There's this angsty but also hopeful romantic scene that's been banging around in my head that I literally can't use in my fic it doesn't work with the timeline. But I love it, maybe an eventual bonus chap. (all I'll say on this ot3 is that at least 1 person is a harb). And taras x any harb that isn't his bro, my favorite running gag I take too seriously. Also Madame Volkov x Tsar, I can't wait to reveal why that ship cracks me up (also weirdly angsty).

2. First ever ship: God I don't know. Probably amuto from Shugo Chara (I was elementary/middle school, the age gap did not clock as weird then). However my first ship with taste was Soulsilvershipping from pokemon (god we need to bring back that ship name format, so fun). I didn't have fictional crushes the same way most seemed to, however what was close enough was Silver Pokemon my beloved. He spawned my love of grumpy long haired red heads so when I saw Diluc for the first time I remember going fuck I'm gonna love him (and I did haha).

3. Last song: uhhh fun fact I'm not a music person at all. As a child I hated it pfft, while I grew out of that I still have no idea what I'm doing with it. 90% of the music I listen to is from animatics (and back in the day from amvs) or musicals because plot. And u know u find a lot of musicals because of animatics its a cycle. However saying that I was listening to Ricky Montgomery, idk why.

5. Currently reading? I'm catching up on the Ascendance of a Bookworm Light Novels (I'm on the last book in part 4 and I have part 5 #1 ready). I've also been really slowly reading through (and got back into after almost a year accidental break) Lout of the Counts Family. Also hunter x hunter (my brain is filled with Sheila theories, despite being the Harbinger found fam fic writer I don't care about the troop lol, just Sheila). I also have some DC comics open in my tabs because I want to watch the newest comicpop back issues episode. Its sort of strange I've been on a reading fan fic break of sorts haha, reading lots of original stuff.

6. Currently watching? uhhhh Mob Psycho though that just ended. Also me and my sis are watching Miraculous together. We used to watch it years ago and we are watching all the stuff we missed and cringing. I also am constantly watching lots of video essays, love a good video essay to put on while doing other things like playing genshin/art/etc

7. Currently consuming? We have a holiday party every year and my dad makes his amazing to die for lasagna (we are not remotely italian, but everyone we know says its amazing). So I've been eating those leftovers and having a time.

8. Currently craving? validation uhhh free time maybe. I had so much free time while I was away at school (well more like I should have been working on stuff time, but it was time I could organize myself). I'm home and between Christmas and parties and my grandparents/Cousins/feels like everyone visiting I've had no time for myself. despite being relatively famous in the pre-war world, Anthony is a pretty timid and laid back guy. he could always handle being in front of the camera, but god did he hate every second of it. post-war, he deals with a lot of self-doubt about why he got to survive the bombs in a cushy vault when plenty of more qualified people suffered. he hardly ever talks about these doubts at all.

wanna know about ocs that arent cringe??? here let me just *cutely infodumps about liminaland*

ok so liminaland is this classic liminal space dimension that honestly kinda has infinity train vibes now that i think about it. but tbh the main inspiration for the story was amphibia lmao. basically the way it works is you wake up in an abandoned mall with a crappy memory and antlers. and this guy with a tv for a head tells you "oh hey your friends are probably here too." so you go looking for them through a series of weirdcore/medieval "layers" of the world before getting to the backrooms, an infinitely large maze of weird yellowy rooms with fluorescent lights and scratchy carpeting. the thing is there are creepy creatures that live there called "mall shadows" which you need to fight. wild. eventually you reunite with your friends after running into them down in there, find your way to the surface, and get home. also the same curse that gives you antlers and memory loss also gives you superpowers so theres kinda a balance there i guess?

anyways so here are the characters who are thrown into this story:

so first we have gaia! her actual name is abigail but since she forgot basically her entire past upon arriving in liminaland, she made up a new name. she uses she/her. fun fact i designed her before the marcy theme song takeover animatic was shown so the fact that she broke her left leg falling down some stairs in the mall is literally just one huge coincidence. still cant believe it. anyways she actually has pretty big marcy vibes. she loved fantasy and rpgs pre-liminaland so she embraces the adventure liminaland has to offer. honestly its hilarious how marcy-like she is. her super powers are the classic super strength, stamina, etc powers so she kinda is a bit of a folk hero among the people of liminaland.

here's ghost! i still havent decided on an actual name for them yet, but she goes by ghost for now, and uses she/they. the curse of liminaland (what causes visitors to use their memories and get antlers) kinda backfired on her i guess? so like. her memory gets wiped again at regular intervals so she mainly sticks to the upper levels of liminaland since she would get lost really easily otherwise. she has prophetic dreams as a result of the curse so she does pose a bit of usefulness to the people who took her in despite her memory problems. however eventually one of these really scares her so she steals a sword, runs away, and inevitably gets lost in the backrooms. gaia finds her just as she loses a fight to a mall shadow, and well. its good that gaia has super strength but healing powers would've been very useful. after losing her sight, ghost's future vision became more constant, to the point that she could somewhat use it to navigate.

lastly, we have lilac, who uses she/they/xe pronouns! their memory is pretty decent compared to ghost and gaia, but most significantly, lost all of xer memories of gaia. her powers are extremely strong and tend to burst out at the worst possible moments; its all classic energy beam/wave/field/whatever stuff. xe reunited with gaia first, but freaked out when she acted like she knew xem, so they fled back into the backrooms. however, later, she reunited with gaia after ghost's injury, and discovered that they also had healing powers! after helping save ghost, she is less scared of her powers, and finally, they all go home. or whatever.

hey ya’ll! i had a pretty tough time over the holidays... 2020 was a hell year.

i had BIG plans for this year and didn’t realize i was going to miss the actual Christmas date. (i ALWAYS update on christmas for askblogs, have for the last several years) i basically had 2 Christmases, one with mom and one with my dad, and that exhaustion + dropping out of school put me into a hugely unexpected spiral that i’m only now getting out of LOL. if you’re new here, hi. i’m sam. i have bipolar depression and very likely adhd but i can’t afford to get diagnosed. i’m having trouble coping. how r u.

cheek aside, i hope we are all doing at least a little better since the new year and hopefully the spring sunshine will help us all!

but yeah to AFR, i’m bummed i missed out on the date and couldn’t finish the arc. i had TOO much planned tbh and was speeding through it to get to the plot. the idea was that we’d learn more about Frisk’s history and their grandma. We’d have a Big Party with mettaton and Mew Mew and it’d be a HUGE event that was going to be super fun and cool to see the full cast and-!

none of that ended up happening LOL. i jumped to melodrama because i had so much planned that i couldn’t properly space it out. then because i wasn’t updating, i wasn’t getting asks (NOT that anyone’s fault but mine, making that clear rn) and to be honest...

i’ve kinda overcame some coding hurtles i’ve had with gamemaker and have been really getting into working on my fangame. i’m still Not Good yet but it’s fun and what little I do get accomplished feels amazing. with comics, and askblogs specifically, I have to keep a watchful eye on getting feedback (asks, reblogs, comments) and try to make ya’ll engaged while doing detailed and more detailed artwork in short bursts of time. which was fine back when i was more stable and wasn’t trying as hard with backgrounds, but i’m rusty and got used to detail.

i’ve been growing a distate for online comics for these last few years (comics are insanely extensive and quickly enjoyed) and i’m not... sure... how to go about this anymore...

i’ve been keeping it a secret but I’ve wanted to do the DarkWorld finale in animation. i’ve done some animatics, tried out making sprites (i even considered making a fangame for it, or a fan animation using GMS 2.3.1) but its been taking a long time and its not fair to drag it out so much lmao.

so... what do ya’ll think i should do? cause i still have this big Christmas party thing planned (but like... its too late for christmas and was too ambitious) and the DR event finale won’t be done anytime soon. should i ignore the fact that its january and still do the christmas arc with toned down art? should I just stop making comics?? should i even continue AFR? i can’t expect an actual answer from you guys. this is something i have to figure out for myself...

that said, whenever i run across chara and asriel i get hit with such a strong urge to finish this story. because the end of it, (and i’m not even saying i regret the DR event because that conveyed plot things i wouldn’t have been able to do right through just the regular story w/out the darkworld) the end of AFR is something truly emotionally important to me and has SUCH a huge emotional pay off that I have to tell. so i can’t STOP afr, and i can’t just write a fic version of it cause that’s now how this story was written/structured around.

i’m kinda lost on what to do is what i’m saying. i’ll think about it, but i honestly think maybe I should just drop the christmas stuff and put the dr thing on hold (until i guess the mainstory is done and i can focus on that badass animation i have planned). would that be ok?

(ex. which videos should i watch to properly understand the dynamics between some of the people involved in dsmp before i start trying to sort out the lore?? where the hell do i even find the videos for the lore?? what videos are important to the plot?? what exactly is the 8 hour stream that people keep talking about?? im so so sorry but i kept getting more and more confused with every fucking day pls-- ;_;)

for the dsmp there are a lot of things to watch, especially if you go all the way back to pre-lore wilbur/tommy. i know that not a lot of people start there, but i would suggest if you want to watch dream/george/sapnap’s stream building what the server is today. the vibes of these streams are very chill and it’s mostly them just playing minecraft (killing each other a few times, here and there, but the cursed streams usually have a warning on them if you don’t want to watch them).

now for the dsmp when lore starts, i would recommend using this carrd: https://dreamsmpseries.carrd.co/, they have everything that you need there and it’s very well explained. i don’t think there are trigger warning on this carrd, but i will warn you that everything after the manberg festival gets very dark, especially tommy’s exile/ranboo’s plot, so if you feel like that’s not something that you want to see i would suggest skipping and reading about it on the https://dreamteam.fandom.com/wiki/Dream_SMP (which is almost like an archive of the dsmp. all the information there is correct and the wiki is used/recognized by the creators).

another thing that you could do, if you don’t feel like watching everything/don’t have the time, is watching compilations with the events that changed the dsmp or animatics on youtube. the animatics usually will have the main plot points and you can try and look for the streams that were used on it, you won’t get the whole story (and unfortunately some of them ignore side stories), but that’s a great way to learn more about it in short amount of time. 

(also this is very self-indulgent, but one of my favorite lore moments is when dream dethrones george. not many people talk about it, but it’s so worth watching because george doesn’t usually does lore, but when he does it, holy cow. and quackity and dream’s argument is amazing)

now about streams and dynamics that are not lore related, but related to content creators, i’m someone who mainly watches george/quackity/dream’s streams and one of the streams that i like the most and that has a bunch of people is what we call here “the first red hoodie stream” the vod is 5 hours long, but it’s so worth it. 

another thing that i would recommend you to watch, once you find out which are your favorite streamers/the vibes that you enjoy the most, is minecraft championship aka mcc. it’s an amazing event where you can learn more about minecraft content creators (this has ccs that are not part of the dsmp, but it’s very fun and great to watch). my favorite povs of the event are george’s mcc11 (his team was: dream, karl and sapnap) and mcc12 (his team was: philza, wilbur and tapl).

the 8 hours stream is a very touchy subject, because it’s a stream after george’s first mcc and things get toxic between him and dream after they make a deal. i wouldn’t recommend watching tbh, but if you want to, here’s the link.

when did you first start watching the smp and what made you get into it?

Ughughhh my memory isn’t the best but I think Sad-ist’s animatic “war” was the first thing I ever saw of dream smp but I never really knew what was going on and it wasn’t until I watched animacgicans(something) explaining the disc wars that I went ‘frick it, time to get into these streams!’ HOWEVER I will point out I only started watching like intensely in the stream where the Manberg Festival was announced! (it is also how I like, fell in love with Quackitys content n saw Wilburs corruption it was great!)

what is your favourite part about watching the smp?

The different POVs! I LOVE how I can choose who I wanna watch and what comes out of it, and when its done I can go back and watch other peoples povs on it instead of being just limited to that one, its pretty poggers!

Probably when people really bash on Tommy’s character without actually having anything critical to say, as in you can be critical of his character, but the things they attack c!Tommy for is just,,,hurts. BUT honestly in general that happens with a lot of charactesr and I just wish to enjoy the SMP without so much of this ‘good/bad’ scale you know?

so like. tw suicide but thats what the entire song is about and bing bang boom i just think it works so so so so so so so well with not only exile tommy (who obviously did try to kill himself) but also wilbur in a slightly more metaphorical way? so like. his self destructive habits leading him to a point where he had no choice other than to kill himself and to take his country down with him. and its all about other characters trying to help them and persuade them not to but also near the end there is a second voice trying to persuade them to go along with it, which im thinking like. if its wilbur, either dream or maybe just himself. his own brain persuading him to continue down the path that would inevitably lead to his and his countries destruction. also it works well with schlatt for the same reasons, except he doesnt want to die. maybe (since the song is so goddamn long) like. one verse for tommy one for wilbur and one for schlatt? dead gang poggg but also like. the verses cover fairly different things which work with one character but not so much the others, for example the first verse would be tommy because its mainly about persuading the person to not kill themself (which tommy did himself but shhh) the second for schlatt because its literally about drinking and smoking away your problems, and the third for wilbur since its more of a fight between the "good" and the "bad" sides, which is obviously what wilbur was experiencing. also obviously i have a soft spot for this song because its string instruments and french, basically my favourite combination ever (also i like his voice idfk lmao)
