(you can pick a character for that or it can remain anonymous if you want) and the reader is sad because it means she’ll have to get separated from Rook/Jade since technically they don’t belong to her and belong to the the royal palace instead so uhm rook and jade comforting reader and stuff because the reader actually likes them and doesn’t want to be separated from them? kinda like in that one episode. if you dont want to do this it’s fine! you can just ignore it.

jade leech

jade is someone that loves snark honestly, he finds your attitude so entertaining and amusing to him. he only believed that you were just all bark and no bite, anyways. he always had a feeling that you were hopelessly into him as he is to you (even if jades loves more.. intensely than others..!) jade never seemed discouraged and upset when you would act all irritable and annoyed with him, jade would only give you a pleasant smile and ask you what else you needed.

an arrangement for your marriage was something that he was prepared to have come at some point, it's sort of the inevitable- also considering that you never once had given any kind of suitors presented to you the time of day. he would chuckle at that behavior and only warn you that this would make matters harder for you.

rook hunt

he... is devoted to you so much that any comment or mean remark towards him does not bother him one bit, you could say it goes in one ear and out the other. rook feels as if it's the greatest privilege to serve someone such as you, he lives to serve beauty after all. assisting and being with you throughout your day is simply a dream come true for rook. you can't blame him for falling hard, can you??

1.)Ninja Storm

Fav Character: We know this already its Dustin, he really is loveable and whether people like or dislike the season they aren't allowed to hate him

Fav Female Character: Very much enjoyed Tori and her interactions with the team, I think she worked well as the first female blue alongside being a freaking water elemental like she's underrated as hell.

My OTP: Hunter/Dustin, I have this in the morning, lunch and dinner. Honestly need to stop making doomed scenarios for them, love it better when they are happy with each other.

My NOTP: Nothing really tbh that i can think, I guess I'm not too huge on Marah/Dustin unless they are only platonic, Tori/Cam is a no go unless it's like poly.

My Other Ships: Conner/Ethan is a really good one and anything involving Cassidy/Devin/Trent is fun(thank you @augment-techs for this). Also rare but with how the episode ended with them making up I kinda have a Derrick/Ethan one where Ethan shows him more science.

Guys. I'm so crazy for this- but have this drawing I did in school

Tagging @zerostyrant & @dannybobany in this cuz this now my first VC post. Oh wowa (and besides,, papa (zen) had like. Info dumped me about this part of the series-!! While my brother Dan was the first one to bring it to my attention!! So!! ,, yeah. Felt like I needed to tag them in this)

Anyways. Yeah!! This is like. My prince.... Design. To which I will explain!!! I know what I'm doing-!!! I swear (tho this could just be an oc at the end)

The main inspo was honestly.. the idea of "White Death", which is just the Cold but I've connected that with sleepiness -> sloth = sleeping princess ~ Margarita Blankenheim — white is taken in the 'flavour' way I would think. Like Vanilla! And it's also taken as in the sea, but most importantly as sea foam (I'll explain that later).

This design was honestly started by the fact that I could never stop thinking of the prince with the song of The Gift From The Princess Who Brought Sleep... So. This came to life

But I also tried to add a small small bit of a "scientist" look to him because who knows what the creatures in the story book pages actually reference too (that being the Carnis, or people)

I have like other notes, but they don't appear in the design which. :((, but it's fine. I like this no matter what!! ; notes being about the "saviour" part because of the monoliths moving to an island where they form a circle. Another note was about a slight inspo from The Green Ribbon Neck Girl!

But anyways, back to the foam part to which will explain why his eyes look like that-!

Yes, I wanted him to at least be- weird? If that makes sense and came across??? ... The foam part, has four words under it, that deals with the cult— *dull. *Blind. *White. *""Pure"" /I think that's also where some of the frilly cuffs came from... To deceive you. Also to deal with the water, and how he washed up to an island. Sea foam!

But!! There is also something his gloved hand is hiding-! Which is another part where I kinda took part of Margarita's design from. A flower on his chest;

^ "God's Vortex", is what I named it. A layered flower, with dots at the end parts of the petals, a dark center and "“vein”" like hidden parts in said petals. Just to be uncanny, and weird— since he is connected to what has happened.

-the flower is the only one of its kind. And that's the point- in a weird way, the flower can also somewhat mimic the symbol of the cult.

But it also mimics the Singularity with its color!

It's tied to the cause (prince), to the ongoing terror (cult) and to the offspring (carnis).

so here are some thoughts about DMD Friendship the Reality while we are nearing the end

yeah yeah its not that deep but actually no one caring/talking about a show makes me want to write a LONG ASS POST bc i cant get gratification from going through the tags and reading opinions lmaoooooo so HERE damn okkk i will make the content i want to see in the world i guess dont mind me......😞

im not even the biggest Domundi fan but i was intrigued by the premise of this show. i mean it's a basically fake dating show (like one of their challenge rewards was getting to sleep in a suite together as if they are there to date for real) and the end prize isnt just an acting opportunity as it comes w the big decision of choosing a looooooong time acting partner. so i wanted to see how they would do it. BOC did a similar thing w The Hidden Character which i dropped halfway in bc it was too long and i found the challenges to be irrelevant to the ending goal. this show is the opposite of that and thats why ive been enjoying it.

it is edited to be concise (only 5 eps) and honestly, is quite tranquil. all the challenges were about things they will be required to do in the future as DMD actors/idols and stakes aren't even that high. You could always guess who would win before they even started (((like of course broody model guys won the photoshoot challenge and guy w two series under his belt won the acting one, DUH))) but it was still enjoyable to watch. show's goal isn't to generate tension and competitiveness. it is more of a workshop/chemistry building camp and also a way to introduce the new generation and get the fans warm up/attached to them.

as i spent time in bl fandom sphere, i've come to realize introducing a new gen is tricky. i thought everyone would be ecstatic to see new blood and a lil bit of mix and match but BL fans are reaaaaaaaaaaally attached to their faves and generally see newcomers as threats who will take opportunities from their already neglected (!) precious babies (e.g. just couple weeks ago FortPeat fans were protesting the new lesbian side couple in the upcoming show for stealing screen time from their faves, which is a joke in itself). this kind of show is genius way to get people to warm up to idea of new faces. at the end of the the day, these fans' weakness is two beautiful boys indulging in sweet moments they can be delulu over and considering how ships were already born from the first episode, DMD FTR succeeded in their goal.

LETS TALK ABOUT THE BOYS :-) *this starts playing*

I had to make this during first ep bc they are all dark haired boys w similar builds so I kept confusing them lmaoooooo (Tle not pictured as he joined later)

i will firstly talk about the fan favorite possible "couples";

KengNamping, the quiet visual couple and yes I love em!!!! they were kinda the only "conflict" in this very conflict free competition.

is Keng the CALMEST person I've ever seen? Latte is laid back too but Keng is just seems zen. sometimes (in the face of conflict) he just seemed hard to read but mostly he has such a calming presence. honestly, he should open an ASMR channel if this acting gig doesn't work out.

Namping also comes off very warm and graceful. him being "wow I'm finally in the winner suite" to Keng after finally getting chosen in ep4 made me laugh like DAMN he really was offended by what happened in ep1 and kept letting it slip. Idc, you are so right my prince and don't ever let Keng forget what he did to you...

when it comes to the possibility of them as a couple: i am kinda here for it while also not knowing if i actually believe in their "moments" in the show? Namping definitely set his sights on him from the beginning but Keng seemed nonchalant about it. Keng finally choosing Namping after his win, their sweet moment on the bed etc. seemed to me like classic reality show moment prompted by production to fit a certain narrative WHILE ThomasKong's pseudo-date-night chats seemed very real and spontaneous.

they do visually have chemistry, i'm not gonna act like i wasn't blushing when Keng trying to flirt during dinner or Namping softly touching a sleepy Keng's chin in the bed etc. Or even in ep2, when Namping tries to confront Keng about his pick but they are too timid and just unable to talk about it openly!!! arrghhh it's a hard to watch moment but still, made them more intriguing because they had such a tension between them. it would be a shame if it wasn't explored more. that tension can be channeled into an angsty series, just saying...

So, they def have a long way to go in their bond and arent comfortable like LatteFirst or ThomasKong but still, they are a strong contender and I would be glad to see them as a couple in a show. Namping already got my attention in the acting challenge and wonders can be achieved w a lil bit of workshop. they got the juice already!!!

Now, lets talk about ThomasKong.............

me watching Thomas relentlessly chatting Kong up since THE FIRST EPISODE

so I knew LatteFirst are set be a side couple in upcoming Love Upon a Time but i was confused to see why everyone on Twitter was already going cuckoo over these two random boys until i saw them interacting... Wow, like Thomas really came here w one mission: get Kong and leave.

because Thomas is such a flirt like DAMNNN😳😳😳😳he needs to be jailed for carrying lethal amounts of charm... IT MUST BE SAID: I love his fits w those thin glasses, he should've been wearing those in those office BLs he was in because he has been serving "office siren". Tiktok girlies eat your heart out.

while Kong isn't the best at acting or singing (he is the best KengNamping shipper tho and i LOVE a fudanshi BL actor), he definitely would win Mr. Congeniality if they were giving that title. he naturally and effortlessly has great on screen charisma. he is a certified cutie and the only one who can get real full belly laughs from Thomas!!!

i think what they managed in the acting challenge is the testament to their palpable chemistry. acting wise they weren't perfect (naturally, their uneven acting experience levels were apparent) but they were the only one who managed to tonal shift in their scenes. it's because they were the only ones who played into the romantic subtext of the scene. they also held eye contact for the longest (because they are comfortable w each other and not shy!!!), which elevated their chemistry and made me AND the judges giggle and roll our hair and kick our feet and shit!!!!!!!!!!!!

they are obviously the most likely to win the show and they deserve it too. no matter the result of the show, i want see them carrying a series as mains because they can and should. i also believe DMD won't fumble their bag, so i am not worried about it.

to conclude, I will quote Zee,

then we come to LatteFirst, the kinda established couple: in the ep5 preview, we see First trying to choose between Latte and the newcomer Tle, which seemed random to me and could be a production touch to create conflict in this very smooth sailing show.

i loved seeing Latte being nonchalant about the possibility of First choosing someone else, what a laid back guy. like Mio in THC, every BL reality show needs a half asleep and occasionally funny dude.

No... you trusted Saeyoung as you've come to know him.

This cabin that you two were staying at for the day certainly wasn't a fancy outdoor retreat of your dreams, but it was neat and cozy, just enough to put your mind at ease at this time of uncertainty. Especially once you two managed to get the fireplace burning. And even despite your dangerous circumstances, you couldn't help but admire the beautiful green scenery surrounding you from all sides - a very noticable contrast when compared to the busy city landscape that was Rika's apartment.

Still, summer nights could get pretty cold, especially in the mountains, where dense forest obscured sunlight's warmth with its dense roof of leaves and branches. It's a good thing you've packed a few blankets for you to keep yourselves warm and comfy!

You snuggled up closer to Saeyoung's side as you slowly made your way through the forest, oddly enough not feeling even a slightest bit scared with him by your side. He wanted to show you something before you had to go to bed and replenish your strength for tomorrow, to which you happily obliged. After everything that's happened and what awaited you ahead... you wanted to spend as much time as possible right by his side.

"You're not cold?" He asked, tilting his head slightly into your direction and putting an arm around your shoulders to pull you closer.

You couldn't help but smile at the gesture, feeling your chest fill up with ticklish warmth from yet another wave of affection for this wonderful caring man right next to you. Yup, you were head over heels for the redheaded hacker, and you did not regret a single smallest thing about your choice.

"Mhm, maybe a little, but with you here, I can use you as a personal heater with no trouble." You stated, nuzzling into his shoulder with your nose, like a cuddly cat asking for attention. Honestly, it surprised you just how warm he naturally was. No wonder he didn't get cold at all while you stayed here! "So, where are we going exactly?"

"There's supposed to be a wheat field nearby. I just... wanted to see the stars before we have to leave tomorrow. To remind myself of what I'm fighting for."

He was nervous, you could see it from just one single glance at him from the corner of your eye. Not like you could blame him, considering just how much was at stake here. You wordlessly took his hand into your own and gave it a reassuring squeeze, hoping that your touch would assure him that this is not the battle he has to fight alone.

Judging by the warm smile he gave you, before returning his attention to the steep path ahead of you, illuminated only by the bright light from the small flashlight he brought with him, he understood what you meant by that. It wasn't long before his gaze shifted into one of excitement and joy, making you squint in an attempt to make out the shadowy details before you.

"Oh! There it is!" He exclaimed, tugging you along like a pumped up kid noticing his favourite ride at the amusement park. You merely giggled, hurrying after him, albeit focusing much more on his happy grin rather than the sights around you. It was nice to see him act so cheerful after everything that you two had to go through for the last 11 days.

Finally, you stopped at a small clearing overviewing the rest of the field before you, as well as the surrounding forest. The field appeared to go on forever, completely silent aside from the crickets singing along their shared melody into the night and an occasional gust of wind rustling the wheats like quiet whispers of the forest spirits meant for your ears only. There was nobody here except for you and Saeyoung, making this beautiful moment this much more intimate in nature.

All you could do was gawk at the magical sight around you, forgetting even to breathe for a bit, before a quiet gasp escaped you in a show of pure amazement. "Wow..."

No other words were really needed to describe just how beautiful it all seemed to you. It was all shown clearly on your face as you looked on in wonder.

"Beautiful, isn't it? Look up at the sky, Y/N." Saeyoung prompted you quietly, brushing his thumb against the warm skin of the back of your hand.

You followed his request, raising your eyes upward and quickly being met with a sea of tiny shining dots that were so close to you, and yet, so far away all at the same time. It took you breath away all over again, making your mouth fall open in astonishment. You couldn't remember the last time you saw such a clear night sky before... It's like you could reach out and touch each individual star with your fingertip.

"It's hard to believe that this is even real... You can't see even a glimmer of this beauty back in the city." You mutter, unable to take your eyes away from the endless night sky shining down at you in all its breathtaking glory.

Saeyoung, hummed, as if lost deep in thought, before responding. "Yeah. It's part of the reason why I live so far away from the city. Well, aside from the whole 'living in the hiding' thing. I feel like not nearly enough people appreciate the sky or space for what it is... but this also makes it feel sorta personal to me, you know? Like I'm the only one who can understand space and it understands me."

"Does it not get... lonely, though?" You asked, finally tearing your gaze away from the stars to instead take a quick glance at Saeyoung, only to see the far away look in his golden eyes, one filled with so many thoughts that were not privy to you just yet.

"...It does." He admitted, suddenly locking eyes with you before you could do anything to hide your adamant staring. Although, it's not like you even wanted to look away when he seemed so vulnerable and pensive. He was no longer cold and distant, as he was with you as Luciel... But he also wasn't hiding his pain and fear behind a mask as he did as Seven. No, you could see it all in his tired golden eyes that were shining with hope in spite of all the hardships on his way.

"But... I'm no longer lonely with you here too."

A confession that made your head spin so easily, it was dangerous to think about just how much of an effect this man had on your heart. This was the moment you fully realized that...

You'd never let go of Saeyoung ever again.

Okay now from the POV of STANNING CHARACTERS… (kfp4 spoilers)

So first off. My condolences to Tigress fans + people who are big fans of the Furious Five. And I mean – the Furious Five are were (?! 😭) core cast members, they’re great and fun characters, so I can absolutely understand the outrage of them just not being there AT ALL. In fact… idk their absence is weird in that it does feel less like kung fu panda without them. I take the view that what Matters is the movie being good, so if you have a movie that’s good, you can get away with certain characters* not being there if they wouldn’t serve an otherwise good plot. You can’t really say that’s the case with this movie though, because its pacing etc had much to be desired. So… yeah. You kicked them out but then the movie still wasn’t even good?? 😭And they didn’t even get a little scene they got nothing!! 😭No speaking scene I mean!

*Certain characters when I’m not completely obsessed with them (LOL). Because I, like anyone, am BIASED, my point here is that’s the “objective” take, but subjectively it absolutely sucks when your personal fave isn’t there so I really do sympathise. If shifu wasn’t in the fourth movie at all, I, too, would be extremely upset and furious. So fans of the Five have every right to be personally unhappy with their absence. For example if Shifu was absent from a Good kfp movie because he wouldn’t contribute to the Good plot, “objectively” that makes sense from a writing pov. Subjectively, I would still be personally unhappy with it.

ANYWAY. So now for analysis/discussion from a more character-focused pov/being biased in terms of my focus!

I mean, Shifu’s my fave, put him onscreen and don’t completely mess it up and there’s a good chance I’m just happy to see him again. And I was pleased to see him again. Ahah… What can I say? I’m a shifu fan… XD

Anyway. He’s SO not having a fun time dhsdjhsdsd I’m. god. Still getting my thoughts together about this. I have sorrrrt of mixed feelings/am of two worlds.

I did really enjoy his scenes. He’s actually kind of a mess honestly omggg. It kinda took me by surprise and I was actually very amused. I can’t help it he’s why I’m here LOL.

So like yes on the one hand I absolutely did accept and enjoy his scenes. On the other hand I was a bit surprised because… Well. Movies 1-3 did seem to have him on a clear trajectory of getting better and becoming more chill. He’s very Not Chill in this. You could make an argument that the whole “Oogway choosing Po as his spiritual successor” is a/the major issue that’s set back his progress in this movie, is why he’s clearly Not Fine (however much he might claim otherwise ckjdjkdsjk), etc. Because he only gets hit with that knowledge/information at the end of movie 3. The whole fact that he’s been kind of “overlooked” by Oogway (or at least, kind of skipped over technically…) and is now technically “surpassed” by Po, etc etc.

However, the above is all Watsonian analysis. From a Doylist point of view, I doooo think he has been Flanderised a bit. Feels like he’s just kind of been stuck/shoved into the box/role of grumpy “least-zen zen master” without much room to move about. It does feel like he had a lot more room/leeway before with his character/characterisation than he seems to have now…? And idk how to feel about it. Because like… I still really enjoyed his scenes in this movie, I loved it. So I don’t actually have any personal issues/complaints with it, I guess I do just feel like it can be “overdone”, if he really is thoroughly boxed-in like this. If his character has been simplified down/exaggerated… There are potential concerns with that but like, again. I loved him in this movie.

I mean I guess it just comes down to some mixed feelings on my end. Because I was getting this sense of “okay this kind of seems like… a bit overdone on the characterisation. But at the same time… I still love this characterisation” dhsdhjas? Hmmm. Still mulling over it. But I had fun! On an analytical level, I recognised that this movie had flaws, and that Shifu’s characterisation can be symptomatic of an overall downgrading of writing quality/handling of the characters in general. On the level of Being A Fan, I am a little baby being mesmerised by car keys being jangled in front of me.

It's also just kind of Funny to learn just how badly he’s doing. I thought he was Fine I really overestimated how well-adjusted he was at this point sdhsajksdakjsad god I. Mixed thoughts but I truly did love his scenes for the most part. Oughhh.

The fact that he’s now officially confirmed/clarified In Canon that he’s a red panda is hilarious. It took them four movies to do it. It’s been MANY years. But people having no clue what kind of animal he is over and over again, piggybacking off that… Man I loved it.

Hhhhhh yeah. Gonna keep mulling it over.

& I did feel catered to as a Shifu fan, by virtue of the fact that He Was There (I am the baby looking at the jangling car keys). So like, that would have affected my overall experience of the movie As A Whole in ways too! Because you can’t completely separate subjective from "objective". The movie itself could be lackluster but I could still be like “yesss Shifu” if I enjoy his individual scenes, etc. So tbh I had a great time, if only for that. I wanted to see him again and I did, LOL.

And like idk, if I fine-tooth-comb comparison his characterisation in previous installments vs this one, maybe I will come up with discrepancies or whatnot, and I guess one of my concerns is like, even if I was totally fine with how he was written in this movie, it raises concerns about how he might be portrayed in any future media, etc, so I’m just kinda wary? Idk. But tbh I had fun. That’s what matters.

Honestly, its kinda funny/interesting cause my fiance has finally kind of come to terms that the C-PTSD bus he was hit with in the beginning of 2023 is genuinely crippling enough that he really can't work without it being a huge mental health concern / crisis and that such a limit is really an unfortunately common situation for people with C-PTSD. And honestly? I'm really kind of glad and happy he got there.

Cause my job lets us get by month to month, and with the massive savings nest I've set up due to having C-PTSD in college, we are breaking even most months and even if we don't, we have a comfy net to give us a LONG buffer time before we genuinely have to start worrying. So more than anything, I'm glad he's identifying his limits and starting to work with himself within it after really beating himself up over it for almost a year

And I think that's one of the largest blessing about being a Zen Buddhist is that I am honestly, genuinely, and authentically okay living at a low budget break-even life and not really chasing for any real extravagant savings or anything cause I'm honestly genuinely just happy existing with and around people and things I like.

A younger me would be extremely stressed by not seeing money growing, but I really really genuinely do not care as long as we are making ends meet.

And more than anything, he's started to get back to his loving and caring self rather than the hypervigilant, fixated on self hate stuck point he's been in that has been weighing a lot more than anything else on me as 1) I'm stable enough now that I don't NEED him to be my rock, but for the past like 6 years, he was the mentally stable one that would help ME relax and its been a while since I had notable emotional support from him and 2) I'm just really not the person to go to for empathetic support; advice yes, direction yes, but empathy and sympathy are really taxing for me to try and even when I do, I tend to still miss what is needed

That's all a bit of a ramble but like

It reminded me of when we first started dating, cause back then, one of the first things I let him know about our future together is that I didn't care if he wanted to work or not - and if he wanted to not work and just be a stay at home, I would be MORE than fine with that and he absolutely did not have to work if he didn't want to.

And that stemmed from a lot of things, but largely the way I was raised made money and survival support one of the only love languages I was familiar with paired with the fact that we didn't really see - at least on a subconscious level at the time - that we had much of anything to offer anyone other than our ability to provide and survive. And so when we started dating, we offered the one thing we were better than most people at, which was being "successful" in life. If we were mentally unstable toxic, unloving, assholes - at the VERY least on a practical sense we could be a smart partner.

And over the years of therapy, we really heavily moved away from that sort of mind set and retracted a lot of those offers not on the principle of "we don't want to offer it" but on the principle that it should not be the go to standard and expectation because we don't want our existsence and value as a partner being defined as an exchange of us providing to earn affection.

And while that was never mentioned, it's come around again - a good reason, a genuine reason, and situation that calls for it, and I am once again offering and letting him know that he does not have to work until he is ready and patched himself up some because I can provide enough for us to get by

And rather than it being the premise of our relationship where being a provider is an expectation, its acknowledged as a sign of patience, care, and affection; what it is supposed to be.

It's honestly really kind of a nice full circle and its really nice to see how far we've come with this because I know, just a year or two ago - just any time before we really clicked hard on being Zen Buddhist and Functional Multiplicity, and we would 1) be extremely stressed over money and / or having Major Symptoms and 2) we would not be able to provide our fiance the authentic comfort and support that stems from being authentically okay with the situation because we genuinely are not stressed by this

Like unironically, I'm really just happy he's figuring out a way to get back to himself and engaging again. I know more than most how bad rushing trauma recovery and addressing triggers and getting Back Into Life can be. I'd far rather give him a few months, hell even a year off of working to give him the time and space he needs to let his brain realize he is not in danger living outside of his parent's house than to spend the next 10 years watching him try to force himself to "get over it"

It's hard to learn that the world is safe when you throw yourself into a tank of starved sharks. It's not intuitive, but I'm really glad and proud to see him doing trauma recovery the ACTUALLY efficient and correct way - which is ironically not trying to do it efficiently.

But he's recently realized - what with it being around my birthday and him just getting into a better place - that more than anything, the thing that makes him feel better about himself and his dog shit self esteem is helping us out and making us happy / feel special because it really is the one UNDENIABLE thing he is better than everyone at and that he is undeniably talented at ESPECIALLY since we really really really are not an easy person to navigate with crippling autism and DID.

I dunno, I'm just honestly really glad to see him start to make peace with his condition and work within it cause its a huge step towards recovery. I'm also just really also happy that this situation has really made me realize that I've really largely cut myself out of a lot of the capitalist materialistic hell concept of happiness.

Maybe I'm just being Riku and finding silverlinings in shitty situations, but honestly - I think I kind of might even like this situation. It definitely isn't the long term ideal, but in the short run, I think its a really peaceful place to be in.

Recently i came across the youtube channel of Shim Gyuhyuk (Yoosung's VA) who often posts song covers. Besides this, canonically Yoosung was in a band back in his school days. And these two factors make me headcannon that Yoosung can sing and he has a sweet voice.

Besides as we know Zen who is also someone kind of involved in the music industry (ofc he is not a kpop idol per say but he does have to sing alot in his career).

OOOOOOOOH, lovely anon, you're definitely giving me plot chickens!!!! Food #004: Empanadas tucumanas

MADE: 16 MAY 2021 (pic above) & 21 JAN 2023 (all the other pics)

I don't know a whole lot about Argentina, but once upon a time I heard that all of its regions had their spin on empanadas. And that out of all those spins, empanadas tucumanas were the best. Royalty, almost.

Enough to pique my interest.

So I looked up the recipe, and immediately knew I had to make them indeed. Been making them every once in a while ever since with a tiny spin of my own, of course... they never, ever failed me 😋

So the things I changed:

using wholegrain flour (or half-wholegrain, half-white) for the dough—I had this idea back when I was trying to eat less refined carbs, and honestly it's great. Even more flavorful that way imo.

chopping the carrots of the beef broth in cubes after the beef is cooked, and adding the cubes to the empanada filling—again a good addition for texture and a slight hint of sweetness.

ok unfortunately i can't say that im going to go AS INSANE as i did last time when i was spitballing in the tags for the second pq posting just because i feel like i aired out most of my "AAAA WHO IS ZEN AND REI??" there but.

i do have to say that i'm very glad i'm at the point where p3 and p4's casts are able to interact! i can't tell if it's because the writing feels like it shines a little bit better here rather than the solo casts (sometimes i roll my eyes at how junpei and akihiko are with some of the traits the writers play up), or if it's because i'm a guy who's very endeared by crossovers and interactions from characters who didn't exist in the original source material.

i had a lot of times where i was writing things down in my notes software during the crossover segments and im just?? really endeared and creatively inspired by it, to be honest. i really like this aspect of pq.

i think something that catches my interest with zen and rei at the moment is the difference in how they're.. regaining their memories. like... it's interesting to me that zen is able to get some of his memories back from the stuffed rabbit marked with "niko," but rei doesn't. i don't really know how much i can speculate off of this atm (i feel like this is something i'd get more info on when i progress through the second labyrinth, or it's something i'm missing out on because i can't use intertextuality to piece things together. i dont know shit about alice in wonderland.)

like it does make me think that maybe these two are like.. separate entities in that respect (rather than a shared one? but i could be wrong, and i welcome that!). but also there's something that makes my brain go "AAA" about how adamant zen is about wanting to protect rei despite not having any memories, because my brains like "WELL WHAT IF ZEN'S TRUE IDENTITIES AND MEMORIES ARE ACTUALLY THE OPPOSITE, AND DON'T WANT GOOD THINGS FOR REI." poorly phrased but like, it's about the irony, y'know.

i have no fucking clue what rei is supposed to be if we're going under the notion that they're two different things that have lost their memory (she is so head empty only food and its precious tbh). but like my brain just thinks that zen is just... going to end up being some awful incarnation or something like idk. there's something about persona characters with amnesia that make me raise my eyebrow... like just look at ryoji and marie and teddie...

and i guess as another thought on the matter, the way zen and rei work mechanically speaking does make me ponder a bit because like.. obviously, yeah, they can't equip a subpersona because they're... GESTURES. not persona users but FUCK, the way zen and rei have very distinct skillsets just make me wonder if those can allude to what they symbolize. like zen's skills are much more.. destructive and im just like (AIGIS VOICE) "YOU ARE DANGEROUS."

anyways. i am very much invested in the identities of zen and rei but i am also glad that the crossover stuff is here too because i think the sillies will keep me inspired... and also im just happy to see yosuke... i really like yosuke even if i forget that i do a lot of the time..

last thought, after seeing souji talk and move, i think i'd definitely want to look into p4 side... because um. 🥴 i'm really simple guy. i need more minato in my life. (everyone rolls their eyes. i'm predictable!) i want to see minato move and talk. i want to think about him. he's my boyfriend. he's my wife. he's my universe. im being so cringe about him but I DONT THINK THIS IS A SURPRISE TO ANYONE... i like him a lot (NO SHIT, LIZZ). but!!! idk if this'll be something that i watch or play, it depends on what the NG+ functionality in this game is like...

Oh man, pokemon? I low-key love talking about what teams the RFA would have. I have made some of my own but I never really thought about their teams too much, I'll show you them if you want to see, though! They may not be so thought out but hey! It's fine, it's fun! lol

But I love how I have named my main team after the RFA-

Keep in mind that I have this team for years and I will never change it, so I didn't have much thought when naming them after the RFA, lol

My first ever pokemon and favorite one for YEARS is Charizard and it's not surprising that I have named it after Saeyoung. It's also my ace and my Mega Y which deals a LOT. I remember hearing that it's Mega Pokedex entry is that it gets its power from its bond with its trainer? If so, I low-key think that this suits Saeyoung since he feels like he has gained a superpower or something when MC loves him!

Next up is Salamence which I named Saeran! I thought the red on it and blue is like SE. And I think the Moxie ability kinda fits honestly! I like to think that my Salamence spends hours just flying up in the sky, haha.

Next is Dragonite which I named it after Yoosung. It might be cute but it can do a lot! I like to think that it fits Yoosung cuz it's cute like him and it has his hair color.

Next is Aerodactyl which I named after Zen. I low-key didn't have much choice on this one cuz I named Jaehee and Jumin after the other two so this spot goes to Zen! It's the fasted pokemon in my team and I like to think that Zen runs fast cuz he exercises all the time sksks, also the color is kiiiiinda fitting?

Next up is my Marowak (Kanto) who I named after Jaehee! Again, the colors fit her and it hits super hard with its held item. I like to think that it's her Judo training and she can hit hard and be serious.

Next up is Tyranitar which I named after Jumin. I didn't think this much but now that I think about it, i think it kinda fits? I think it's toughness reminds me kinda of Jumin and his security and how it can do a lot in battle and STILL be bulky. It's also serious too which is a bonus lmfao-

I think it's so cute that you've named your team after the RFA. That really makes it feel like you've got the family together again. I think it's sweet that you imagined the personalities and tried to make that cut it alongside color schemes. Seven as an ace-up-your-sleeve type who knows how to breathe fire? Yeah, I can vibe with that. Mega-Evolution is a power that lasts briefly but can only be done by having a strong bond with your Pokemon. Saeyoung can't reach his peak without the strong love by his side.

Yoosung and Saeran as dragons? They're very opposing dragons, too. You gave Yoosung speed to zoom around since we all imagine him to be like a puppy. Saeran got the snark and sullen nature since I know it is SE Saeran you're trying to imagine here. Zen is unrivaled in his way of making us remember that he's a rarity, and giving him a Pokemon that is only gained by finding a fossil to revive? Yeah, that's what I'd expect if we want to imagine someone created him for something he didn't want and he ran away to you.

Jaehee makes sense to me, honestly. I tend to give her fighting and normal types but this one is a little out of the box so it made me think harder about her and how she can defend herself. Jumin is the only surprise to me since I tend to think of him with psychic types and I've always seen him that way. But, you're right in saying he's strong and sturdy.

So, I've already answered the would-be teams for all of the RFA sans Jaehee and Zen, so I'd be happy to share those with you right here as needed!

Jaehee's team to me is a mesh that brings together her natural sense of fighting with food-themed Pokemon. She has a team with her who knows how to practice and train just like Jaehee does to keep up her training, and the natural foil to that with the other half of the team is focused on helping her find the freshest produce and coffee to run her shop. Her struggle would be learning that it's okay to bring those two loves together to work hard in the same place! Lopunny is likely her oldest partner and they've reached Mega-Evolution because of it.

Zen's team is a team that rivals his beauty. We all tend to think of Zen as a wolf since he never shuts up about it, so having a Furfrou and a Mightyena just seem to make sense. I imagine it was easy to catch them since I know he caught those dogs on the streets when he was in his gang. Absol is easy to relate to for him since he was thought of as a bad omen, too. They find peace and union in knowing that they can't be misunderstood by each other. The rest of his team seems to reflect his psychic abilities and his connection to them. Munna is a good match for his dreams. Rapidash and Gardevoir fit the bill of a man on stage who feels charming and dashing.

i just completed Aerial_Knight's Never Yield 

can you believe some places dont include the apostrophe in the title? like it's not proclaiming who spearheaded Never Yield, its a statement

my only experience with runners, as a genre, is through bit.trip. I beat the first game and played a bit of the second. this game, which I'm gonna call AKNY for short, is honestly a pretty good second example.

the controls make a lot more sense that bit.trip. I remember complaining that duck was down but kick was Y so I had to switch to keyboard or something. in akny, you've got the colour-coded cardinal directions, which applies to both the dpad and face buttons: up is high jump (obstacles you need to high jump are always red), left is midjump (yellow), down is duck (purple), and right is sprint (blue). straightforward, easy to nail in a split second, this is good. it's a little silly that you have two jump buttons, because yes there are obstacles colour-coordinated to mid that you can clear high, but it's still pretty elegant with how simple it is to grasp

the plot is... uh, minimalist. there's no dialog, so here's what I've got. you've got the main character, who i just kinda called Runner in my head. he escapes from a tube in a lab and spends the rest of the game dodging the authorities about it. there's also another guy, implied to also be from the same tube situation, who I called Swords cuz he's always got some swords floating around him. Swords is king of the streets or something, he's the strongest guy around, and Runners out to take him out and claim the crown. that might be wrong, especially since it seems like the sequel is more fleshed-out, but the story isn't all that important anyway. watch the cool guy do something cool and then play a level about it

I really dig the style. if anything's gonna sell you on the game, it's the vibes. the music is ultimately a bit simple, but they're all really solid hiphop instrumentals. the design is... it'd call it comic-like, but it's more like a graphic novel almost. it's not vibrant but it's still colourful, y'know? oh, speaking of style, I love the level where you're running up a building and you've got this really funky camera angle, added such a cool visual flair. 

that's kinda it! the game is pretty short, I beat the campaign in like 2 hours I think, and a lot of that is from killing myself when I missed that stupid coin in the school level. y'know when people call a fighting game character honest? that's what this game feels like to me. it's as stylistic and badass as the budget let's it, and I respect the hell out of it. totally worth playing.

and then there's endless mode.

I understand this was added in an update. you run laps around a gym dodging randomly spawning obstacles. youve gotta play for, according to my research, 30 minutes straight of this for all the achievements. woof. so... I just kinda got to it. it took me three days, across... I'd guess three or four hours of attempts. I put kitboga on my other monitor and reached the world's stupidest zen state, just reacting to the obstacles. if you wanna keep track of your progress without pausing all the time, I'm pretty sure it took me about 165 laps. thats a bit egregious. there's already an achievement for 30 laps, which I think works great as a threshold of basic capability. like, if you can do 30, you can do it forever, kinda like how crypt of the necrodancer only asks you to get a 10 run win streak before saying "okay it wasn't luck you can do this forever if you wanted to"

not enough to ruin the game by any means, especially since it's optional. this game has a great soul and fun gameplay to back it up, absolutely worth trying out! just a heads up, don't expect triple-a polish, keep your expectations realistic for an under-the-radar indie.
