If anyone wanted to know what it's like to be a trans person not aligned with masculinity online, I've had such a huge issue with both cis and transmasc people calling me dude and then arguing about it when I asked them not to that I had to set my nickname in discord servers as "don't call me dude/man/bro". That wasn't enough so I changed it to be in all caps and set my overall discord display name as "DONT CALL ME DUDE/MAN/BRO". Within a few hours I was @ed on a server I never talk in, a server where most of its members never talk because it's a mod development/compilation server so people are there for information and that's it, by an any pronouns trans person who hasn't spoken in that server in a YEAR and talked again specifically to misgender me
#from cis people it's like whatever but it's like transmascs and afab nonbinary people feel personally offended whenever you say#that you don't like to be called dude/bro/man etc#id expect it from the cis but trans people should get it!! like come ON#'i use it regardless of gender' is no excuse bc it's still a gendered term#like just because there are situations where its more normal to call someone that at the same time there are ones where its clearly gendere#like. 'my guy'. people say that 'gender neutrally'#but if you call someone a guy outside of saying that theyre going to assume someone is a man. and rightfully so!#so why is it so outrageous that i wouldn't want to be called that in a different slang context?#i use 'girl' gender neutrally. i will call everything and everyone a girl. i call my nine year old brother 'girl'#guess what i specifically dont do though? use it for transmascs or nonbinary people#if someone has she/her pronouns listed its probably fine and if it's not im okay being corrected#but like. if calling someone 'girl' isnt okay even when the person saying it is saying so regardless of someones gender#then the same applies for masculine terms#idk im just tired of giving other trans people basic respect and then being constantly targeted by people who want to argue that something#is gender neutral#specifically because they come from a position where being called those things is validating#ofc the ppl not trying to distance themselves from masculine terms are okay with being called them#like. that's fine. but please listen to other trans people lmao

Butch Chilchuck AU Pt2
(Pt. 1)
As I mentioned in my previous post, the only real difference in this AU is that Chilchuck is a butch woman who uses he/him pronouns instead of a man.
No one in the main party knew he was a woman because he couldn’t be bothered to correct their assumptions about his gender when he’s busy trying to be treated as an adult.
He revealed that he was a woman after the bicorn when Marcille accuses him of keeping more secrets. “Its not a secret but I guess I should clarify that I'm a woman since I don't think any of you have caught on yet.” type thing. Cue everyone's shock, especially Marcille.
Since there's been at least one woman in the party who's been uncomfortable with Chilchuck bathing with other women (because they think he’s a man), and he's doesn't give enough of a shit to argue, he’s been bathing with the men instead (because again, he simply doesn’t give a shit)
Senshi thought he was trans (though I'm not sure he knows about trans people as like an actual identity, he just saw him bathing with the men and being treated as male and ran with it. Thats Chil's business after all.)
Laios just thought half-foots had internal “equipment” until it was needed. Wanted to ask about it but even he has the social grace to not question co-workers about that.
Shuro fully suspected Chilchuck was a woman but was too awkward to say anything
Namari knew almost immediately and has been the only one in the party to fully understand whats up with Chilchuck because she was respectful and understanding. (Plus they're drinking buddies)
Falin thought he was a man but also didn't really give a shit when he tried bathing with the other women. It was the marriage seeker who threw a fit before Marcille.
Post reveal, Marcille is just pissed he didn't say anything so she didn't have to go through this adventure up until Izutsumi joined the party feeling like the only woman.
Laios asks if he needs to change anything about how he treats him in the same vein as asking if he should call him Sir when he revealed his age
Senshi is just trying to process how wrong he was about literally all of his assumptions about Chil, as he is a middle aged woman and not a little boy. Feels embarrassed about his misunderstandings, no judgement towards Chil.
Marcille has questions post reveal. She gives me the vibe of a sheltered cis woman who has never questioned what makes her a woman, so when she’s presented with a woman who is more comfortable with mostly masculine presentation, uses “male” pronouns, and has even voluntarily removed his breasts as a woman, she is confused. She initially struggles to understand how a woman can be so against femininity and still be a woman. Chil, while reluctant to answer questions about his personal life, explains that he isn’t against femininity but simply feels more comfortable presenting more masculinely. And that he simply can’t be fucking asked to correct people when they guess wrong. He also ends up helping Marcille understand that gender isn’t expression and connect to her womanhood in a new way that isn’t necessarily linked to her femininity.
Laios does ask why he had facial/ body hair as a tall man and dwarf. Chil gets annoyed about him basically asking about his medical history but answers that he has PCOS and is also menopausal.
This causes Senshi to get annoyed that he didn’t mention this earlier as those conditions can lead to different nutritional needs (I.E. PCOS diet to manage symptoms or extra calcium and vitamins after menopause.)
Senshi and Laios start getting weird around Chil, no longer worrying about him being a kid, and are instead trying to be respectful of the fact he’s a woman (such as being less touchy, trying to give him privacy when changing as if they hadn’t bathed together before, etc.) Chil gets annoyed because while he appreciates the lack of touchiness and the added privacy, he’s pissed that they’re acting different after discovering he’s a woman and overthinking how they interact with him. They also start fucking up his pronouns because they’re ingrained in “women = she/her” mindset and feel like they need to “correct” themselves.
Izutsumi doesn't care and fails to see how Chilchuck being a woman instead of a man changes anything. Chil really really appreciates this.
Chil has to sit them down and explain that LITERALLY NOTHING has changed. They get better after this. (Senshi decides to go ahead with making sure he adjusts Chil’s meals to his needs.)
Post canon, Chil and his family goes to a dinner at the castle, and he shows up in a dress because A.) he wanted to match his wife and B.) kinda wanted to fuck with his friends. He succeeded as everyone was very taken aback by the sight of Chilchuck in a dress and “actually dressed as a woman for once” (a comment that annoys Chil because he is always dressed like a woman because he is always a woman who is dressed.)

Hey, its breakfast anon. Everything is better with me and my mom now, your idea worked really well, so thank you.
Just a quick question, I've seen AMAB and AFAB used instead of trans a few times, and I was just wondering if that's the correct term to use, instead of trans? Like, should I say AMAB instead of a trans woman? Or is it an everyone has their own preference? I just want to make sure I'm not accidentally being offensive.
Hi!
I'm glad things worked out!
As far as your question, that's a no. AMAB and AFAB refer to peoples' assigned gender at birth, but to refer to a trans person that way in most conversations could (and probably would) cause hurt and maybe even dysphoria, because you're basically just taking extra steps in calling them the gender they aren't. The thing is, most times, you don't even need to describe someone as trans. Like...you have to think of the context of what you're saying. Does saying "oh, my trans friend" add anything to the conversation? Maybe if you're talking about LGBTQIA issues. But not if you're talking about the weather. Same with talking about someone's assigned gender at birth. The only time that's necessary is when it strictly affects the conversation- maybe at a doctor's office, or if the subject of the conversation brings it up themselves? Otherwise, it's not important or relevant.
So, long story short- no. AMAB and AFAB are terms you would rarely use in a respectful conversation about a trans person.
To add to this, though, if you perhaps have a trans friend that is often misgendered - maybe they don't meet the societal norms of their gender, then you wouldn't say "oh, he's AFAB but now he's a boy." you could instead just say, "He's a boy" or "he uses he/him pronouns" or whatever fits there. For example, I look feminine in my body but dress masculine, so sometimes I or my wife have to say, "they use they/them pronouns." but it's not necessary to be like "Oh Cas's assigned gender at birth is...." because It's not my gender.
I hope this helps!

TW: blood, horror, stalking

Word Count: 3,031
AO3 LINK -> HERE
Notes: role-reversal AU. reader is the stalker/eldritch-horror being, john doe is a gas station worker stuck in a time loop (tho his looks/odd actions r still the same). it/its used 4 reader/mention of reader having a “human male form/human male face” as well as having “sir”. he/they pronouns used 4 john doe. treat this as having some spoilers (ending 7 basically)+remember of the canon creepiness/horror aspect from the game. if u can’t handle that, this prob aint 4 u so tread with caution/dont read. distorted/glicth text have numbers beside them as they will b put in at the end with each word 2 b read easier if desired/needed.
While people think the man is creepy, you couldn’t help but l̸̩̈́̿͆̔͌́ő̶̗̠͛͊͑̍̿v̵̨͎̈̄̀̚ĕ̵̖̦͔̘͇̑͊̿̌̑̄ [1] him. It didn’t matter that they didn’t shower or seem to understand that his clothes being thrown everywhere in his home wasn’t exactly the best for their mental health. The deteriorating mental health of your beloved truly did help you in a way though. It meant that he’d need someone around and what better person to help them than you? None of those other people in Uncanny Valley can help him like you could. They’re just tiny little humans, lacking anything significant about them. You, on the other hand, can protect your lovely little gas station worker by simply existing. Changing most of your form to anything he may desire is something you keep in mind, watching, together with, seeing what they may or may not like. Of course, some things you do rather wish to keep; a more human male figure seems more appropriate to you at times when you’re with the guy. It had taken a while but after watching how other men looked, you had been able to achieve the appropriate image.
Due to the time loop, it appears that John Doe forgets about you. Every. Single. Time. You’re doing what you can to ensure he chooses the right options. You’ve been trying for so ļ̴̢̹̫̪̙̀͛̈́̓͛o̸̬͔̍͛n̶̜̽͛̾̀̕g̵̨̖̎̇̄͐̈́̇[2]. So why can’t the person just r̵̬͇̓̋e̴̹͐m̵̨̢̈́͝e̶̻̭̔̄m̸̧͚̽͊b̵̯̑̈́ē̴͔r̴̭̙̊[3]? That’s all they have to do. Remember you! It’s all you want! You want to be remembered, for all your trials and errors to be acknowledged! You distort reality for him! You’ve even given him gifts you thought he’d like; he’s accepted them every time but soon enough, those gifts get pushed aside, along with forgotten, when the new day arrives. But today there will be a change! There has to be! You’ve tried your best so you need to make this one count. It’s either the route he chooses leads to the right outcome for you both, or one that leads to one they will surely hate.
You see him on the bus, staring into space. For a human, he’s more uncanny than most. Maybe that’s what brought you to l̷̹͊͘ộ̸̊͐v̴̛̬͈͆̂̈́i̷͎̪̝̾̔̂ṉ̴̱̪̑g̸͙͛̄͌ [4] them. Then again, not seeing anything odd or weird in a place called Uncanny Valley would be wrong. He truly does fit in with the town in a way; the behaviour that is. Their looks give them more of a wild, unhygienic appearance more than anything. So many other humans stay away from the guy because of it, leading to a wide berth on the bus. It works in your favour after all; you possibly can’t go a day without watching the darling thing. To catch your interest out of all the others is an achievement in itself. Oh, they truly should be proud of themself because of that.
Seemingly sensing your staring, the yellowed eyes look towards your glassy ones. Once met, your grin widens tenfold. It seems to nearly split your face in half, showing off way more teeth than a human can possibly have. They blink at you, the black shirt they have on changing its design to an eye with a question mark as the pupil. The lips that never seem to close fully lift just slightly, more in a confused smile than a happy one. You’ll take it though, feeling warmth clouding your brain at his simple grin. You lessen your beaming when he looks away, starting to zone out again by how unfocused their eyes start to look. The warmth starts to edge away now that their attention is no longer on you. You can feel your lips fall into a straight line, feeling empty with that small amount of attention lost.
The bus stops, opening its doors to let off the passengers. John is one of the first to get off, letting you follow him from a distance, having taken the back of the line to do so. They’re heading to the gas station, working another day behind the counter. The long, messy hair of his is easy to spot in the small crowd; not to mention that they, along with a few others, are heading to place. Not many stop by thanks to the reality-shifting you do to try and keep John more or less alone. It makes time drag by slower, plus, you can watch him for longer.
You lurk about, staying hidden among the aisles to let John get comfortable in the beginning of their shift. You don’t want to appear suddenly like you have so many other times. It always seems to lead to the B̵̟͚̝̫̣̹̯̈̿̑͐ ̸̠̟̬͙̍͊́̇͆͜͠͝Ȁ̵̡̰͙͍̱̹̯͆̿ ̸̓̀̋̒̇͜D̷̰̖̥̤̣͈͕͂̒̓̽͌ ̷͉̼̦̒̈́ ̶͈̲̏͐ͅE̵̗̘̺̥̰̠̟͆̅͒̐̔̈́ ̵̙̞̭̪̙́͐͊̿͝N̷̩͋̕ͅ ̸̨͚̯̈́͑̌̀́̾̚D̸͍̩̫̈̈́̋͗̽̕ͅͅ ̷̮̩̋̋̈́͊͋̀Ĩ̸̥͈̙̦͊̅͘̚ ̷̳̱͕̻̜͚̋̊͐͝Ṇ̷̡͓̟̃̆̊̔ͅ ̷̭̬̇̆̈̈́͊G̴̤̒̐̍̈́ ̶̣̺̒̚Ș̸̲̺͇̋̈ [5]. Those were so tiring to deal with, having to revive your love over and over and over and over again. “It’ll be different this time. It’ll be better,” Your voice, though low, sounds disembodied with a static quality. You’ll win his affection this time or simply restart again until he accepts… So many endings have passed, moreover, restarting is getting tiring. You can feel your desperation taking over, leading to your hands shaking.
You grab the first thing you can get your quivering hands on, leading the object to your mouth. A tearing sound echoes in the store as your mouth widens, the skin going from your lips to your ear tearing open to reveal more teeth. The object is placed in your mouth, your jaws clamping down on it, completely as well as utterly crushing the item. You can hear glass shatter and crunch as you eat both the glass as well as pickled quail eggs. The taste combined with the texture of both floods your mouth as you try to get your mind in order. By the time you finish, there’s a puddle of juice on the floor, the jar, metal lid, and pickled eggs all having been eaten. Your hands have stopped shaking so you allow your face to go back to the human male face you’ve constructed, alongside altered, just for John.
With a clearer head, you look around the aisle. Your glassy eyes make eye contact with a horrified mother with her three kids. The children, all ranging from ages four to eight, stare at you with awe mixed with terror. The mother, on the other hand, looks like she’s about to pass out with how much panic seeps out of her. You give them a large, toothy grin, wiggling your fingers mockingly. She herds her kids away, shushing them when they try to protest. None of them will remember this by tomorrow.
Deciding your beloved has had enough time to settle into their shift, you start to approach the counter. No one is at the counter, letting you walk right up and stand before him. He’s staring off again, almost always does so when bored or understimulated. The skin at the edges of your eyes crinkle as you smile, this one not as wide as the one who had given them on the bus nor to the family in the aisle. With no answer, you reach into your pocket, pulling out your closed fist. “Hi.” Your voice, now sounding like it comes from you, carries a cheery but unhinged tone. The yellow eyes you’ve come to adore look at you, now more focused and full of attention.
“Hi,” They blink in surprise at your presence, clearly having missed it until you appeared. “How can I help you, sir?” Your closed fist hovers over the counter, your smile never wavering, as you release your gift.
“For you!” Teeth, some bloodied while others are nearly shiny clean, land on the counter with a clattering sound. John stares at them, his mouth forming a straight line despite never closing all the way. With no answer from him, together with their eyes going unfocused again, you try to smooth it over with more words you deem to be complimentary. “You smell good.” It jolts them back into reality for the moment. You can see his pupils start to expand, nearly swallowing all of the yellow. His shirt even has the eye change, the pupil on it now a heart. You know you haven’t won them over just yet but you have the seed planted in his mind now.
“Uhm… Ok…” His voice shakes, along with his hands as he drags them closer to himself. The black nails they have shine in the light, only adding to their appearance you’re fond of so much. He scoops them in his hand, putting them in the incorrectly-worn jacket’s pocket. You’re not sure if they’re genuinely happy about your gift, or absolutely horrified by the fact that they were just given teeth by a stranger, in their mind that is; you both know each other already if only he remembered you.
“What’s your name?” You lean towards him, hands gripping the edge of the counter so tightly, they can see the strain in your knuckles. The smile he gives you is still small, pupils still enlarged. Quietly, as well as shakily, they point to their name tag.
“That’s definitely one of the names I’ve heard. I’m _̵͙̋̈́-̴̻͖͍̆̆-̵̧̨͆_̸̦̞̊̆-̵̢͗͝_̵̰̇̕-̷̩̭̈́͋_̴͙̺͇̦̅̃  [6] but you can call me [Redacted]!” Your hands are clutched together near your chest as you tell them this, flashing distorted and gorey images in their mind. The smile on his face seems a little more strained now, a spiral appearing on his shirt. Maybe giving them your name confused them. Then again, anyone who isn’t like you will only hear it as garbled glitching. You’re only hoping the more understandable name you’re allowing them to call you is enough.
“Are you doing anything after work?” You decide to try and go for it, hoping that maybe, just maybe he’ll say yes like he’s done a few times before. Besides, he said “No” in the previous day. So this time, now that you’re more normal, they should say yes.
“No… I’m not doing anything. Why do you ask?” He seems genuinely interested this time, leaving that fuzzy warmth to worm its way into your head. An odd gurgling noise escapes you, making their brows furrow in confusion as you suddenly leave. Behind you, just before you exist, you can hear a small “It was cute but in a creepy, stalkerish way… And a little weird… A me type of weird.” escape him. Their comments don’t sound disgusted however, they sound more like you’ve successfully gotten their curiosity paired with their attention.
It’s a few hours later that John leaves the gas station. You can feel your entire being shake with excitement, feeling the hope that his choices will lead to the correct ending; no more time-loops or reality-shifting needed. You’re quiet as you creep closer and closer to the oblivious person in front of you. You can hear their mumblings about “finally getting off work” combined with “can’t wait to sleep.”
“Hi,” You’re practically hovering behind him, staring with large pupils. Your hands are shaking as you clutch them near your stomach. You refrain from touching him in case you scare him away. An entire body shudder is an answer you receive; just faintly you can hear them swallow. “Oh… My bad. I didn’t think I’d frighten you so bad…” You give him an apologetic smile, despite not feeling sorry at all. Seeing any reaction from them only feeds your infatuation. Before he can even respond, you’re leaning in more, invading his space. “Can I come home with you? Please? We can.. We can get to know each other better! Have a relationship!” You’re coming on strong, you know you are, but you can barely hold in your desperation.
Your last sentence seems to surprise them, seeing that spiral on their shirt appear again. Maybe should reword it… “Like- Like a great friendship! Best friends!” Your hands are shaking so badly, forcing you to dig them into your gut to hide it. That doesn’t hide how your voice shakes as you trip over your words. They lick their lips, glancing away from you for a second to process your words.
“Alright… Yeah. Yeah, you can come over-” His pupils are large again, a barely-there flush slowly crawling up his neck and towards his face. Their words are cut off when the bus arrives. As soon as those eyes leave to look at the bus pulling up, you dart away. You have to make it to his apartment as fast as possible. You have to get there before they can. Ȳ̸̼̹̉̃͘Ǒ̴̯͐͛͠U̸͖̩̜͛ ̸̟̱̙͔͊H̵̑̕͜͝A̸͇̱̺͗͘V̷̨͖̗̗͒E̵̢͖̕͜ ̶̳̭̲̓T̵̮͔͖̗̈́̌O̵̙̹̹͈͌͒̓.̴̩̝̟̭͋̓ [7]
--------------------------------------------
Unease, curiosity, and excitement waft to you from the entrance of John’s apartment. You made it just before they had, vibrating with a feeling of fear mixed with passion. Slowly, he carefully enters his apartment. The trash, including the ungodly smell of everything in the apartment, would usually turn people away but turning off your smell to some things, or even rewiring your own brain can make it smell like it’s a new sort of heavenly desert, helps you enjoy John’s scent and their unhygienic apartment.
“Anyone home..? [Redacted]? Anyone?” Hearing your name from those lips makes a wheezing sound from the build-up of emotions. The sound you’ve let escape you allows John to locate you easily in his living room. There’s a nest of both unwashed clothings paired with blankets made on the sofa.
“Hello, John!” You can feel your mouth salivate. You’re so close. So, so close. You can smell their anger, their shock. You’re confused by it but try to push on. He said you could come over! They shouldn’t be mad at you for doing just that! “It’s unfair, you know? So, very unfair!” You cry out, feeling your eyes start to water. The stress from so many time-loops, so many rejections, and constantly having to alter your looks taking its toll. “You’ve NEVER given me a chance! Never! Not ONCE.” The static garbles some words while enhancing others. “I did everything right! I did everything I thought you’d like! That you’d LOVE.” You see the person before you sweating slightly, brows furrowed in concentration. Maybe he to, is stressed from all these loops and finally feeling its effects like you. “I can be anything you want! Anything you like!” The more normal form you have shifts to a more distorted, uncanny one. Neither is your true form but the most humanoid you’ve ever been; all of it has been for them. So much energy. So much time. It’s all been put into what he wants or what they may find even remotely attractive.
Finally, you settle on the more uncanny form. You’re shaking with your stress. Sweat covers you layers, forcing your clothes to stick to your heated skin. The anxiety is creeping into your voice the longer John is silent. Your tears are so close to spilling over as you choke out your desperate question. “What’s wrong with me…? Don’t you love me?”
The silence seems to stretch on. John’s own stress seems to melt away as realization dawns on them. He blinks a few times, staring at you as everything falls into place. Maybe it’s your shaking. Or it could be the fact that you just poured your entire being into your rant but a smile makes its way onto their face. It reminds you of your own in a way. There are too many teeth, pupils dilated, together with the shaking of their entire being. “I do love you…” Their voice shakes with this declaration, breathing getting heavier. You can feel your pupils dilate and warmth flood your entire body. “Of course, I love you… But not when you pretend to be something else.” Be yourself? But that isn’t what John wants… No, it is. He’s saying it right now so they must mean it. “You don’t have to alter your appearance or your personality for me… It’ll all be fake then.” His eyes are wide, smile just as big as excitement courses through them. How could you not notice how unhinged he was? They have to be just like you! You had just pushed too fast, that was it! Made them lose interest too fast! “I remember the past loops… All of them. You’ve been trying for weeks, haven’t you?”
“Every day. I’ve been looping this every single day… Hoping! Hoping you’d say yes!” Your tears are finally rolling down your cheeks. You’re getting choked up, wanting the right answer so badly. Wanting to end the endless Ạ̶̏̐ͅ ̷̟̅̆͌̄G̷͖͌̋̓ͅ ̷̼̬̯̦̌̈́͘͠O̸̤͍͙͑́̈ͅ ̶̟͕̒̽͛N̷̡͙͉̾͆̇ ̸̧̻̮͋̆̄Ÿ̸̢̰̪́̽̕ [8] you’ve had to endure to get John to just yearn for you as you do him.
“We're just going to keep meeting like this, aren't we? It's just some endless loop…” There’s a pause as they finally make a decision. “So… We may as well see what happens then.” You feel your legs give out, the stress exploding. You grab your shirt close to your chest, sobbing in happiness on your knees. A genuine smile spreads across your face. Your entire being shakes as you feel the time loop ends. Finally. You finally achieved the Correct Ending.
A hand settles on your shoulder as John crouches down in front of you. It’s tight, grounding even. Your sobs don’t stop even when they sit in front of you. When the hand leaves, you look at him. His grin is shaking, alongside his body. His eyes are glassy with unshed tears. You don’t know why but you don’t care. You latch onto the man in front of you, gasping for air but also to get as much of his smell as you can. Your nails pierce his skin, making the wounds bleed, with how tight you hold onto them. This doesn’t bother them though as he latches onto you just like you’ve done. Their nails sinking into your own skin brings no blood. Only indents are left behind. Gentle static noises surround you both as your sobbing subsides. It’s more of a gentle buzzing as you let your form slump into John’s, letting it mould itself to his. No more time-loops or needing to shift reality to get John to love you anymore. Not when you finally have it.

Don Moynihan at Can We Still Govern?
I don’t really know why Kamala Harris lost. The best explanation I’ve seen is that Harris ran into a buzzsaw of anti-incumbent post-pandemic disillusionment that has played out across the developed world. You can add more strategic or tactical explanations about her candidacy — the timing of Biden’s exit, specific themes she pursued — but I am not sure it overwhelms this. This sort of broad structural explanation is not terribly satisfying, especially if you are a pundit who is paid to have a take on what happened. And it turns out that the explanations for Harris losing correlate pretty well with the pundits’ pet peeves. And so, if you have been complaining about wokeness, or campus politics, for the past few years, it is obvious that this is at the heart of Trump’s win. [...]
Harris Did Not Run On Identity Politics
She did not open every event by introducing her pronouns, before swinging into a stump speech challenging the right of the state of Israel to exist, demanding trans athletes be allowed to compete, before concluding by calls to defund the police. According to Weiss, Stephens and Dowd, focusing on transgender issue was another bad strategic choice by Harris. And again, the evidence here is pretty thin. When asked, Harris offered some language about the dignity of trans people in her campaign, but made little in the way of firm commitments to support trans rights, and certainly did not make the case for putting trans athletes in sports. She did not “run” on these or other identity issues. You will never guess who did run on trans issues: Donald Trump. He attacked them in rallies, and in a series of ads.
[...] Those on the left were left complaining or biting their tongue when Harris campaigned with Liz Cheney, took a centrist approach to immigration, or when the Democratic convention did not feature Palestinian voices critical of Israel. So how does Dowd, Weiss, Stephens et al confidently assert the identity politics claim? These takes exist because this is a lazy pre-existing narrative to be sold, not because of any actual analysis of the electorate. These are writers who for various reasons have committed to an anti-woke narrative. And once you have committed to that narrative, you are determined to force it into every story, no matter how misleading.
What is true: Trump, and the right, are very good at taking basic respect and empathy for other humans, and portraying that as dangerous: social justice, wokeness, diversity, equity and inclusion have all been converted into terms of mockery. Trump did not win because someone you were on a zoom call with used pronouns, or Latinx, or some college grad corrected you for using the word homeless. You might find all of those things annoying, but it’s not a reason to excuse truly radical politics in America. He especially did not win because Democratic politicians went all in on those themes, because they did not. It could be that Dems lost support because they did not throw vulnerable groups under the bus, but that is a different argument than claiming they campaigned on those topics.
Trump Did Run On Identity Politics
You know who did run on identity politics? The person who will be President next January.
As noted above, Trump directly attacked trans people. And an extensive list of other groups, most notably immigrants. He even opposed bipartisan legislation on immigration because doing so would have robbed his chief talking point on campaign trail. He used false claims to denigrate those groups as deviants and threats to Americans. This is identity politics. There are many more examples. Trump deliberately targeted disaffected young men. This has been celebrated as canny political strategizing, but not identity politics. He described cities in America as hellholes. He boasted of his beautiful white skin as he attacked Harris, whom he claimed had changed her racial identity. He promised to restore the names of Confederate leaders to US military bases. Trump appeals most directly to white Christian nationalists. His advocates last minute pleas to supporters identified by gender their most likely supporters.
[...]
The Media Refuses to Recognize the Right Engaging in Identity Politics
At this point, the term “identity politics” like the term “elites” does more to obfuscate to enlighten. I don’t know if Trump won *because* he engaged in identity politics, but it seems a far more plausible claim than the idea that Harris lost because she had done so. But we can’t have that discussion because the pundit class does not allow that Trump practiced identity politics.
To be sure, there are differences in types of identity politics. Identity politics is sometimes about establishing empathy and respect for less powerful groups, people who are different from you. This is the kind of identity politics that Harris was accused of engaging in. Identity politics is also about increasing the salience of shared group markers in order to celebrate that identity while also excluding and dehumanizing outgroups. This is the populist model of identity politics, which requires some outgroups to demonize, and which Trump engaged in repeatedly throughout his political career. He came to power surfing the tea-party claim that Obama was not one of us, not born in the United States. And he spent the last campaign complaining about immigrants “poisoning the blood of our country.” His efforts at expanding his appeal beyond white identity politics still evoked identity: he argued that immigrants were stealing “Black jobs” and “Hispanic jobs” or that teachers would turn your kids trans.
The critique of identity politics of the left is that it is oppressive — you will be cancelled for using the wrong pronouns! But the groups involved are mostly just seeking individual rights, the provision of which does not meaningfully damage the rights of others. By contrast, the identity politics of the right explicitly centers on controlling the bodies and choices of others, and the thoughts and actions of those that disagree with them. They remove books from classroom, tell students what they can learn, deny women reproductive care, or block trans people from serving their country. Part of the appeal of Trump’s identity politics is the promise of control over others. In the aftermath of Trump’s victory, messaging celebrating the expected control over women exploded on social media.
Don Moynihan nails it on the hypocrisy of identity politics, in that Trump was the one who practiced identity politics and not Harris.

going on anon instead of commenting because im closeted but abt the they/them degendering post. ur very correct but you also imply that trans men dont share this experience. i am a trans man and have also experienced they them degendering. im not trying to be rude, correct you, or disuade the conversation from acknowledging trans women. im also not denying it if you are trying to say that this is a WORSE issue for trans women - because it could be, i wouldn't know. i just think it does a disservice to the conversation to act like degendering is a phenomenon specific only to women. ignore this if that was just a vent post and you wherent actually trying to start a discussion, im sorry for bothering you if so. to reiterate this isn't meant to be a "making this about me" thing, it's just that ur post says directly that only trans women experience this, and that isn't true in my personal experience so I just wanted to say that bc i think that separating trans men & women from eachother TOO much in these sorta discussions can be detrimental to progress because it can create a divide that pits us against each other when truthfully we are in the same boat, even if many of our experiences differ. idk if uve maybe had an experience where a trans men invalidated u for this, and that's why u said only trans women ever get it. if that's the case it's really unfortunate- people should listen to others when they share their experiences. but it likely means that person just hasnt had that happen to him or dosent perceive it as an issue (i feel like most trans ppl would be bothered by it, but everybody's different). im sorry that people aren't respecting ur pronouns, i hope that things get better for you!
yes i think i have clarified my position after reading the tags and also reddit people accusing me of thinking trans men are oppressing me(????) its not that i dont think it happens to transmascs its that in my experience when a trans woman gets a punitive they(often during a bit dramatic internet event where she's being trial by fire'd), if she or other transfems point out that people are taking away her gender as a punishment, in my experience and observations more often than not she will be told she's crazy even by a lot of people within the community. im not saying it can't happen to transmascs im saying when it happens to transfems being dogpiled or punished nobody seems to care or notice bc its "neutral". people on tumblr have been way more chill with this and seem to understand my point but on reddit and Twitter and other spaces i see this happen a lot
basically what i was trying to vent about wasn't saying "this never happens to anyone else transmascs totally always get their gender respected" but "when this happens to trans women, we seem to be the only ones who notice it is happening to us, and people will call us crazy for noticing" that's what i meant by invisible. i don't think im erasing or denying trans mascs by saying that, i dont talk about transmasc bc i don't have life experience as one, i just have experience knowing that when this specific thing happens to trans women we get told by people of every background that it didn't happen.
hopefully this clarifies it better i dont know how much better i can say it im not making universal dogmatic statements im making experiential ones ones people keep assuming bad things about me for this post and it's frustrating

finally making a pinned post yayy :)
hello maybe this text is a little messy, i'm have a certain difficulty in forming sentences, never had write a big text in english ( i'm brazilian! so i'm still learning english, my english is actually very good but its not perfect ) sooo there's some things about me:
hi, I'm a minor so pls don't be a weirdo, people can call me lunamig, luna, lunamigos, mugi, mig and gi, any variation is ok, l goes by she/her, But neutral pronouns can also be welcome, i'm brazilian and i'm autistic
as l said before, i'm learning english, but i'm also learning russian ( I'm not for the war ), l started learning russian a little while ago, so i'm just learning the basic, l know some words and the alphabet, now with the english, I've been learning English for 5 years now, so l'm very good in english, i'm just very shy and this makes me indecisive when writing sentences, especially shorter ones, also, If someone is going talk to me, try not to be rude or anything like that, if l do something wrong anyone can correct me but please be respectful, If I take a while to respond to something or don't respond to something, don't feel bad, it's probably because I didn't know how to respond, so, moving away from the topic of languages, l have many hobbies, this is what l will share in my blog, my main hobbies are drawing and writing, but what l will post here are usually my drawings, i'm also multifandom, but my current hyperfixations are object shows and fnaf ( now it's undertale :p )
about my blog itself: I want my blog or tumblr to be a SFW and safe place for everyone, If I do anything wrong, anyone can correct me, as long as it's not rude, sometimes l can say some opinions from mine, l will try my best to not make any polemic speech, to not hurt anyone feelings or something like that, but l think l also need some respect, I'm very uncomfortable with some religions, but I hope you don't see it as an offense, I will always respect others, Sometimes I will post drawings that may contain blood, but rarely a lot of blood, l may post drawings with creepy and bizarre content, like some weird monsters.
DNI!!: pedos, zoos, MAP ( just peds with another name ), Homophobes, People who ship child characters or characters who act childish, people who make toxic ships, peoplo who romanticize toxic relationships, nsfw artists, nsfw account, racists,People who judge other people's bodies, People who judge others by their age, anti furrys. ( Maybe l forget some things here, but l think that it's suficient to understand )
I think that's it, for now, maybe l edit this post later! Byee (^‿^)~~

We shouldn't have to fear
Violence in the seasonal apparel aisle
When rainbows get their turn.
I shouldn't have to take down my flag
On my own bedroom wall
At 34 years old but
I don't want to hear
what my mother has to say about it.
You shouldn't have to fear
Asking for your name to be correct
Ending your emails with your pronouns
Wearing your hair in the way that makes you smile
It shouldn't be this way. It shouldn't be this hard.
We shouldn't need travel advisories in entire states
Across the so-called land of the free
While we are told to agree to disagree
To respect beliefs
That believe we should be dead
We shouldn't have to fear telling our parents who we are
We shouldn't have to wonder if we will still be loved and wanted.
We shouldn't have to fight our siblings to debunk the lies they'd rather believe than their own blood
We shouldn't have to tell people to stop killing their own
We shouldn't have to teach our therapists that we aren't sick
We shouldn't have to curl in, scan for exits, bring a jacket just in case
You shouldn't have to stand in front of binary options, restrooms, forms, stores, TSA
Wondering if you will be harassed, beaten, or arrested
We shouldn't have to clean hate symbols in resilient paint off our school buildings, libraries, religious sanctuaries, clubs, homes, health centers, cars
Because we provide vital resources or have a queer leader or provide solace to queer youth
We shouldn't have to see the anger when a brand gives a tiny percentage of its profits to charities
That ensure that queer kids stop hating themselves
Their fury at anyone who does the very least to save our lives
We shouldn't have to fear losing our jobs or scholarships or shelter.
We shouldn't have to wonder if we're broken when we are isolated from the education and vocabulary and representation and role models and community we belong to.
We shouldn't have to learn the basics about our history at 30, 40, 50, and 60 because we were denied that heritage deliberately.
I shouldn't have to have this physical drawer and mental drawer and emotional drawer
Where I keep the things that are most important to me.
Because those who will identify my body, inherit all of my belongings, and plan my funeral if this hate wins or just by random chance or bodily inevitability
Don't approve of what they have borne
I shouldn't have to.
But it's better than the tears, the shouting, the shaking, the lectures, the gossip, the war.
So I'll just play it straight.

This is controversial.
But as someone who was a trans man for 2 years I feel like I have some place to speak on it.
Bring transgender (and this is not all people but specifically my personal experiences) is based off of gender stereotypes.
I just saw a video on Dylan Mulvaney's new song and I can't say anything has pissed me off more. There is no such thing as a concrete slate of what a woman is. A woman can be a nurse but she could also be a plumber, which we all know. But how womanhood in these terms tends to be portrayed as harmful stereotypes that can harm biological women. I have no issue with whatever these people's lives are but to say that biological women are just bleeders that give birth (which some of us dont even get periods and are infertile) but then go and say that you have to "learn the basics" even though you literally just said they're wasn't anything that makes a woman a woman.
I'm sorry for my language, but what the fuck?
I'm exhausted of how this is going. And for me to sit over here and watch, mind you, literal children, be influenced by this and think to be a woman you have to be like this and to be a man you have to be like this and if you're not in either explicit rules then you're something else.
Dosen't that literally go against everything we've tried to fix as a society? I'm not a man but I have many male friends so I'm aware that if a man were to wear a dress or whatever is considered feminine he'd be called gay and said no woman would ever like him. Obviously I'm not a man but I have heard things along those lines before.
My point is, the only reason transgender exists is because of harmful gender stereotypes we've created since the beginning of society. I'm a history nerd and you can make the argument that there was gender discriminatory in hunter-gatherer times but I'm pretty sure our ancestors just new that men were biologically stronger than women. Specifically within the Ancient Rome and Greece it is known that women had practically no rights, it's a whole thing but I'm not going to get into that because this will be much longer than it needs to be.
Just think about it. Like you're the exact same person, just with different genitals. Is it really worth all the money? And if so, why? It's just a vagina or a penis it's not much of a difference.
And I'll tell you how I know. I got sick and tired of how I looked because I was "too masculine" with my blunt eyebrows, square face, and muscular bone structure. It's not even like I was extremely muscular either (of which I am now significantly more than I was at the time because I've come to embrace that part of myself). I also had a slight mustache, because body hair is, NORMAL, and my mom kept nagging me about my body hair (My mom is an amazing woman so don't say anything rude about her, it's just unfortunately how our society works). So I became trans. It felt as though all my problems had dissapeared and all I had to worry about was correcting people and changing my name. But it soon became hard. I realized how feminine I actually was and hated every part of it. Not to mention a lot of my friends are part of the LGBTQ+ and I can't explain how absolutely terrified I was to tell them. I got the "Oh are you sure it wasn't your parents or peers pressuring you into it" amongst lots if other things. It was hard for me to actually be myself when I had been hiding behind a person I created just because I hated certain parts of my personality, looks or interests for being "too masculine".
It has been said so many times and I'll say it again. The issue does not lie with people being transgender or anything under the umbrella (I don't care what you have in your pants or what your pronouns are I'll respect it because it has nothing to do with me) it has to lie with gender roles, expectations, culture etc. Its good to preserve history and culture, but some needs to be changed for the good.
Theres so many more details I could add to this to explain it more but these are just the basics. If anyone has questions onto why I have this opinion or need for more information don't hesitate to ask.
And also just remember I'm just someone on the internet so if you dont agree with my opinion feel free to rip my face off in the comments but it's really a waste of your time.

im starting to see what people mean by over complicating The One Transphobic Joke That Accidentally Birthed An Incredible Non Binary Character into being more female pronouns leaning and also more amorous towards snippy. like, comparing it to the original these types of vibes werent there before and it can be... well, off-putting?
but through my heart shaped glasses, in the past i already sort of read romac as "all these noteworthy guys in their own very different ways are stumbling one way or another to gain affections of literally just some run of the mill random bloke" which made it part of the fun. yea yea over emphasizing the romantically in apocalyptic who cares die etc ANYWAY
the heavier leaning towards female captain bothers me (put some respect on zeer name) the romantic stuff not so much.. for now... because a second, secret (headcanon) way I read romac then was (HEADCANON!!!) if you want to save humanity the best way to go about it was to be in love with it, all of it. by extension, captain would love the other ones just as much. (best closest recentest example i can give is sylvian from fear and hunger but without the horror aspect as much? - a goddess that loves humanity so much and to such an extreme that humanity cant possibly expect to love back nearly as much. also applies to annet a little- sylvian created the err uh. marriage of flesh and annet wiped everyone into their little neural spaces. both understood this as a gift full of love not aware of negative consequences- mainly a loss of freedom)
basically if i made a flow chart of how i think their relationships would go every arrow From captain to everyone who is/was human would just be like. "deeply in love with". lol
in any case
the constant gender miss attributing (be it for jokes or to keep character mystery, im not sure what the intent is by now and why not just settle on good ol zee/zeer) pisses me off more because it looks like these number characters are all created to be female presenting (eight and zero -as far as you can apply gender to a mug- are, at the very least) so its like. its fine when captain does it because zee can do whatever forever but as soon as other people start going princess girlie woman lady she she she her, i see red. im like come on. this beast has pronouns why are we doing this.
feel like a slight hypocrite because i think pilot should be allowed to girl assign captain occasionally. he's just going with the flow you know. i thought it was hilarious that he switched from she to he when snippy asked to repeat what he last said just to mess with him for example. well maybe that wasnt the intention but its funnier if you read it that way (also wasnt this supposed to be some sort of comedy?)
i can imagine captain would get fed up of always correcting people hence why zee just lets everyone call zeer whatever though. would add to zeers whimsical mystery or something. no respect not even in a damn apocalypse. like goddamn

What's the point of iding as nonbinary? Like idk online i can see the appeal sure youre just a nonbinary person and everyone can see you that way but when you posted a picture of u and your bf... its like. oh. Its literally just a label. Youre not convicing me that people in your life dont just treat you as a woman/basically a woman.
I don't identify as nonbinary. I identify as trans. but also (1) you... do realize some people aren't out irl, right? my parents don't know I'm trans and even if they did they wouldn't let me try to pass. I cannot pass around them. that doesn't mean I can't identify as trans or I'm somehow less trans because of it. my parents are strict about how I present but that doesn't mean I'm not trans.
(2) some people aren't assholes. and the people I AM out to irl treat me like a person. I don't know how, exactly, they can treat me "basically like a woman" as if thats different how they'd treat men?? I'm not exactly sure what being treated "basically like a woman" entails if you're around decent people who don't treat women like property. they treat me like anyone else, with an occasional added correcting ppl on my pronouns or asking if I'm OK w X word/phrase being used about me. otherwise I'm treated like anyone else around them. my bf treats me like he'd treat a cis girlfriend, which is the same as he'd treat a cis bf, which is the same he'd treat a nonbinary partner. he respects my boundaries regardless of my gender, as he should.
and (3). I am a woman, actually. and also a man. so if people treat me like a woman, whatever that means, I don't really care as long as I'm not called she. because I am a woman. so you can treat me like one. if someone treats me like a man, whatever that means, I don't care. because I am a man. so you can treat me like one. as long as I am treated like a human being amd given the respect that comes with that. who fucking cares. my only rule is don't use she/her for me. other than that go fucking wild I don't give a fuck

can't get over people misgendering Jodhas. Like if you're gonna call it he or she just stop talking completely until you read the book again and grasp the most basic fucking concepts it has to offer you.
How many times does Jodhas have to correct people who call it he or she or insist it's secretly male or female and you people still can't just do the bare minimum of calling it by its pronouns?
On the third book? In a trilogy?? which has had characters who uses it/its pronouns the whole damn time?
Are you really this dedicated to shitting on nonbinary people? Really?
And you claim you support trans people? But you can't even do the bare minimum of respecting a fictional character's pronouns?
And you expect us to believe you'll respect real trans people in real life?
When you literally refuse to not sort someone from a literal third reproductive sex from an alien species from outer space into the white western gender binary?????? You really expect us to believe you that you're an ally to trans people?????

how i think the batfam would be about my pronouns. given that slip ups in the field can result in serious consequences, most of them are gonna be pretty good but. u know. cissies
bruce:
he's a dad, he's gonna mess up obviously, and personally i don't think he'll ever use my it/it's pronouns. he also just, doesn't like me much? so in his mind i'm jason's g*rlfriend but he isn't an asshole about it. he does still lump me in sometimes with cass steph and barb but u know. small steps.
dick:
v supportive. bisexual icon trying his best. calls me many absurd masculine nicknames. corrects jason on my pronouns once and the look on his face is hilarious. also doesn't use my it/its pronouns but refers to me by my name more often then not.
jason <;3:
the only bitch on earth who can call me a girl <3 he loves me and supports me and will beat up anyone who misgenders me. he's a bit like my little brother at first, like he says 'charlie's a them' but his neuroticisms won't let him be grammatically incorrect <3
t*m:
look. he's the only canon gay but that man is not queer. for the difference: it's basically like. queer is political it's antithetical to assimilation. anyway personally i think he's the type of person to try and use people's pronouns only if he likes or respects them and he hates me so <3 he's a rich cis white bi male. probably the largest group of people i've faced discrimination from in the lgbt community.
damian:
honestly probably the best at them? supportive king <3 basically always uses it/its pronouns. it starts because he's a little shit and wants to make me feel bad but i'm like 'yes !!' and he continues out of sheer confusion. his nicknames for me are so gender <3 harlot vagabond brute <3 dami ily <3 ur so much like my little brother
steph:
queen <3 she messes up and definitely still thinks of me in feminine terms but she tries her best and will drop kick any bitch who's an asshole about it. personally i think she's also a little gender so i help her pick out a binder that she can wear. she's not trans but she just. has a different gender expression and yeah <3
barbara:
uahhh. hm i don't interact with her a lot but that's because i'm not technically a bat? so i'm not really on coms lmao. she's probably fine with it, but she doesn't really care about me enough to dedicate the time necessary to using the right pronouns
duke:
king <3 he's confused but he's got the spirit. tbh i think duke doesn't interact w/ me a lot but we're both semi-daylight and i think he's pretty good using he/him pronouns for me.
bonus rogues;
harley:
she/they queen. every interaction with her is gender euphoric. her manner of speech is so <3 nothing makes me happier than yiddish slang <3 makes me feel like im with my opa in germany <3
ivy:
weird solidarity because she's also an neopronoun girlie. she dislikes me because i'm human but. the vibes.
j*ker:
death kill kill kill death. he's homophobic and one of those people who puts nor/mal in his bio except he's weird so its like jo/ker. makes attack helicopter jokes and calls me a tranny.
harvey:
he's like "oh red hood who's ur girl" and jason's like "none of ur business. also they use it or they pronouns." and harvey flips a coin to see which ones he'll use today

maybe im biased because if my life were just a little bit different, i'd have become a chris-chan-like figure, but i will never listen to christorians trying to justify their actions. i'm sure chris wouldve continued out her life somewhat normally if she wasnt harassed incessantly by losers online who despise autistic people. i also dont care if calling chris by her preferred pronouns "affirms her delusion," she's human, and she deserves to be called what she wants to be called. i dont care if her reasons for transitioning(which probably isn't even accurate anymore) were terrible, she still deserves the basic human right of being addressed how she wishes to be addressed. do you know how you sound when you say that she's delusional for wanting to be addressed correctly? you sound like a right-wing piece of shit. you sound like a transphobe. you *are* a transphobe. i don't care your reasoning, she's a human, and she deserves to have her identity respected.
nobody, not even chris, goes this far into transitioning unless theyre actually trans. nobody would go this far just because they want to fuck lesbians. you people just want reasons to misgender a woman that you hate.
im not even saying that you shouldnt hate chris either. its terrible that she didnt get charged for what she did to her mother, its terrible what she's said about gay people in the past, its terrible that she's still walking free today.
this does not negate the fact that she deserves the right to being addressed the way she feels is correct for her.
christorians just hate trans people.
im sorry but i will never ever say that 'christorians' are in the right ever. even though chris is a horrible and dangerous person, nobody deserves to be stalked and harassed constantly. and the transphobia, even if chris isnt really trans, is inexcusable. if you call yourself a 'christorian' you're not special, you're not cool, and you're a fucking loser. i dont care.
