Many things went wrong with Yingdu, but the main culprit behind its “failure” is definitely the excessive marketing around it. I think I could’ve enjoyed the show a whole lot better if I went in completely blind.

Burning Palace and the 3H’s individual character PVs would’ve hit harder after Yingdu. But by releasing them before it, they set us up to having certain expectations on the characters, which they did not deliver during the actual season. (Cannibal Vein who? He didn’t even get to eat anyone, much less actually murder someone 💀)

The episode previews were misleading as fuck. No, Lu Guang’s hair was not brown. And no, Xia Fei was not grabbed by a guy wearing a white shirt.

Vein’s Chinese name, Xiao Weiying, was spoiled through merch, and this lessened the impact of Wang Qing calling it out in the finale

Although not considered “official,” that one “see you later” VeiFei art by an artist who works on the show should be really counted as a spoiler...

Vein’s fake death was not as impactful as Lu Guang’s fake death in season 2 because of 1) the previous bullet point, 2) the “fake death ability user” code that many fans were able to decipher easily (not really marketing, but an annoying easter egg nonetheless), and 3) Li Haoling himself saying that one person is going to “die.”

They didn’t even show us Xia Fei’s case 😩

And just the entire fact that they hyped up Yingdu to be a plot-heavy mystery thriller that could give us all the answers, only for it to take an entirely different tone from S1/S2. I mean, I enjoyed Yingdu, ngl. But it was really not what I, and probably also everyone else, expected.

I strongly believe that Rudy Pankow doesn’t have a single person in his life that cares about his career, and no I’m not talking about drama and relationships and silly things like that, I genuinely mean it as in management and the team around him.

It’s crazy to look back at 2020 when Outer Banks just came out and how much Rudy was the IT BOY, you couldn’t escape JJ Maybank edits and JJ Maybank talk ANYWHERE, his face monopolized social media and he definitely was the new celebrity crush from Netflix for excellence, at one point in 2020-2021 he was THE boy from Outer Banks when the show itself was at the peak of its popularity and success, the fact that NOTHING happened for him after that is just surreal.

He could have been in Drew’s and Madelyn’s position right now with the same level of fame and influence around him and the same built up in his career, but nobody got him there. Looking at how Rudy and Drew/Madelyn started with the show and where they are now truly highlights the importance of a good management team around you.

Almost everyone in the OBX cast has worked on other Netflix projects after the debut of the series BUT Rudy, when he was at the peak of his fame not a single big project was in store for him and let’s be real, not only he can act but nowadays casting takes A LOT in consideration popularity and clout of the individuals, he had a world of possibilities in his hands and he could have been casted in anything he wanted ESPECIALLY from Netflix and other streaming platforms aiming for teen dramas and young audiences, yet they kept pushing him towards these blockbusters movies, short films and independent small projects FOR YEARS to the point where all the hype around him had already died down.

To then even get to where we are now in 2024/2025 allowing him to quit the biggest job he has from the main project in his career with a big network like Netflix (massive both in terms of money and influence in the industry) to go play secondary characters in some TikTok books adaptation with controversial writers… DOES ANYONE IN HIS TEAM REALLY HAS ANY COMPETENCE AND KNOWS HOW TO ADVISE HIM FOR THE BEST AND FOR THE SAKE OF HIS CAREER??? DO THEY EVEN HAVE CONTACTS AT THE LEVEL THAT HE NEEDS TO BE?

And I know it’s the management ‘cause for YEARS the same has been happening to Jonathan Daviss who’s in the same management agency as Rudy Pankow, the only difference and saving grace for JD is that I believe his parents (who are managers at that company) are his agents and therefore actually care about him and in fact his career is finally starting to move somewhere now.

I also do strongly believe that had he been with a serious management company and with people who knew how to advise him professionally for the sake of his career (both managers and public relations team) then he would’ve also been advised borderline forbid him from quitting Outer Banks and telling him to “suck it up and do the job for a few more months, leave it to us and we’ll handle how to contract this around your needs” but instead the STRONG vibes I get from Rudy and his manager’s relationship is that it’s far too personal and way less professional than it needs to be, like it keeps going out of affection for one another and familiarity, not wanting to let go of each other.

It’s incredibly common for actors that start as “nobodies” to then change management agencies once the career gets to a whole new level and fame hits, ‘cause simply the small agency that you started with as an unknown face doesn’t have the contacts nor the relevance that you need once you’re going up levels and you need people who can get you in touch with big names, people that you can’t find at small companies for up and coming young actors.

Mind you, I’m not saying that Rudy is free of any guilt for how things unfolded in his career and especially with Outer Banks (to the contrary, I’m sorry but I am very disappointed and resentful towards him regarding OBX) and at some point after years in the industry you also should start to learn something and think about the best for your own sake, but I think that the right people around him could have made a MASSIVE difference from the very beginning and he should’ve switched to a bigger company as soon as Outer Banks came out in 2020 and he blew up overnight.

-ever since the end of Chuckle Sandwich was announced I’ve been searching for a replacement and TIE is definitely the best fit so far (unsurprisingly)

-I’m not sure how I feel about the theme song, don’t get me wrong it’s good but maybe it’s a tad too long? I might just be too attached to the chuckle theme rn

-I don’t mind Schlatt absence in this, I love him but Ted and Tucker’s dynamic is such a delight and I’m really enjoying how how engaged they are.

-Tucker saying Ted would look good taking cock 😟

-As a Tucker fan I’m happy to see him get some of the spotlight

very calming, overall just a solid color. very much works in all shades and intensities. easiest to use, visually stunning. i think its the more personality filled color on its own. would like to have a drink with her

2 orange

i like orange, nice color to see in nature especially. i respect it, i think orange is more classy with it than red is. is he harder to use in color palletes? arguably yes but his energy and vibe make up for it

3 purple

i respect purple for what it is tho its not my favourite defiantly. very multi purpose, beautiful shades, definitely get how it can be someones favourite. worth the hype 100%

4 red

red wasnt supposed to be so far down but i actually ended up having more positives for the other colors. its actually my personal favourite to wear. i think its very classic tho actually, its simple admittedly a bit of a basic choice but i think red has a lot of personality.

5 green

interesting color, doesnt really stick out to and has some very hit or miss shades for me personally however i think it has his space in the world. i wanna give green his flowers cause its hard to be a cool toned color when blue and purple exist, he was set up to be overshadowed unfortunately

6 indigo

VERY controversial pick however i just dont think it should be in the rainbow i find it redundant. its kinda like the nepo baby of colors, its just purples annoying cousin to me when it comes to being apart of the rainbow

Heres the werepapas post like I promised, I dont have much to say though but I do have something to say anyway here I go.

So for a start, I actually watched this episode before daddycop even though I should have done the opposite but I was pretty excited to see his grandparents so I bit and I wasnt disappointed. From the get go this was clearly very Adrinette heavy which I always love so I liked that part and well it was pretty cute. For a start I love how Marinette is still Marinetting and still has those plans for marriage so it was a nice call back to season 1 marinette with her complex plans and future but this time it was more satisfying because she has hope and is pretty secure in her relationship with Adrien. It was also nice to see Tom's parents together and their wholesome family breakfast where everyone except Sabine were very hyped for. Speaking of Sabine, she's still a wonderful mother and I enjoyed that she was telling rest of the family to calm down. Then it was really cute how excited Tom and his parents were for Marinette bringing him over. I just love seeing supportive relationships.

That aside it was pretty nice when Marinette offered to accompany Adrien and I love that Nathalie was just okay with it, it honestly feels like they're all family at this point and I love that so much. Nathalie and Marinette interact a lot more and thats so sweet. Also Marinette's trust in Nathalie is wonderful. Like Nathalie is definitely becoming my favourite character, it was only made better in that flashback in the post credit scene. Even then Nathalie was so attentive to Adrien whilst Gabriel was just trash. It was a little satisfying to see that he was an absent father even then for some reason. Makes hating Gabriel so much easier. Honestly given the kind of parents Gabriel has it is a little surprising he was like that but then again what do we really know about Gabe's past? Maybe his parents were absent too because they do seem rather careless, maybe thats why he became strict, trying to make up for the lack of stability he had? Now I want to psychoanalyse Gabe like damnn but to be fair maybe it makes sense why he fell for Emilie, she seems pretty stable and maybe he always craved that? Shes the opposite of him, of his family.

Speaking of flashbacks, I loved seeing Emilie and Adrien's past, it was nice to know more about Nathalie and Adrien and I love the focus Adrien got this episode which usually doesnt happen. Miraculous really is seeming more like well everyone's show other than just Marinette what with the focus on Sabrina and Zoe. I love that they're splitting the focus now, it just makes me happy.

Also the parallels were epic! Adrien stuck in a tower for instance mirrors the time marinette was stuck in a tower also for protection by her dad in weredad. Like I loved tha parallels so much like its pretty cool! We got an Adrien version of weredad and that just makes me so happy. Its like nostalgia hits yk. Like I can go on about the parallels for a while. Family meal? check, taking place in a house? check. There may be more parallels but for that I need to watch the episode.

Also I love how Marinette was hyperaware of the ring, despite the new atmosphere of the show, the hints of the season 5 finale remain. They didnt forget about it even as she tried to break it which was pretty cool. Miraculous is definitely stepping up its game.

I also really adore how normal it is that they're together now, like its so easy and just fits and seems so natural. Its almost like they've always been together at the same time I can hardly believe that they're together like that really hits hard like damn. LIKE MY BABIES ARE ACTUALLY TOGETHER! He called Marinette his girlfriend and thats just so surreal. 2-3yrs of waiting and it paid of!

Also I really hated Emilie's father the entire time and wanted to punch him so so much like why is he such a jerk? I guess he improved a little but I still dont like him, he treated his wife horribly. Also Adrien in a trophy while it makes sense literally, I kind of want to do english literature style analysis for some reason. How hes objectified and stuff which was the point of the episode but still.

Then there was Plagg, he was such a menace this episode and I loved Adrien's expressions. It was funny seeing him trying to hide his secret from Marinette and Nathalie though I kind of want Nathalie to know his identity at least.

I've been, admittedly, having a rough go with Appetence lately. I think it was perhaps recommended somewhere on an anti-blog or discord because I've been receiving more hate comments than usual 😅 I've been trying to filter them out on Ao3 and Tumblr by just deleting them and muting/blocking users, but truthfully, it's been quite discouraging. Unfortunately, Appetence has always received a degree of hate— it's just been more concentrated over these past weeks which has been hitting my confidence rather hard. So unfortunately, that means this next chapter has just been......rotting in my drafts 😅

I've been trying to get the hype back though and enthusiasm for the story through my own re-read (with some degree of success). And of course, hearing that there are people out there who really do love this fic and want me to continue it does help quite a bit. So yeah, just thanks again for the kind words 💕 I really needed it 💕😭

at the beginning mitsu mentions how ichiban always holds back and lets whoever hes fighting land hits on purpose, and ichiban explains that its to keep things "fair," and mitsu responds with "i know how you fight hard when you wanna"

so i assumed ichiban was a beast like kiryu but just had his own moral code that just so happened to make him look weaker than he actually is, and i still think that but i also feel like by now they shouldve given us a scene of him either letting loose or showed us a glimpse of how strong he actually is?

the fight with majima and saejima would've been a great chance for that, in the last cutscene before arakawa and daigo come in they could've had a moment where ichi makes majima falter or takes saejima by surprise or something, and have them quickly and wordlessly acknowledge his strength by taking a stance and getting ready to "take things seriously" before getting interrupted by arakawa- and before you say "but nishitanis-left-nut, thats what happened in the scene" listen- what i mean is specifically ichiban getting a good hit in on either of the jimas and THAT being the catalyst for the shift in the fight

ichibans party is important to the overall plot and what not but i really feel like the game doesnt prioritize him as the protagonist in a lot of the cutscenes? you couldve gone into that fight with any combination of ichibans friends so why not give the final blow in the fight to him in the cut scene right after you win so that the victory does something for ichibans character? but it just hard cuts to majima wiping some blood from his mouth and then arakawa walks in before him and saejima can lock in

i get ichiban isn't kiryu but i thought they were setting him up to be an equally competent fighter that just so happened to enjoy fighting in his own way, and that involved getting his ass handed to him on purpose, kind of like a mix of what majima and kiryu get out of fighting and how they view it i mean look at him he does the majima pose and everything (im taking out the screenshots of him doing the majima pose cuz tumblr keeps saying this post needs a warning which no it doesn't????? the only thing i can think of that would warrant that is that hes shirtless in the picture but like its extremely sfw???)

alright so uh, ive had this draft for a while and now that ive played a bit more by "let loose" i didnt mean i wanted to see him just senselessly beat up a man and have to be forcibly stopped from bashing his head in. he also got his ass handed to him by kiryu so we still havent really gotten a glimpse of how strong he supposedly is. under all the smiles and cheesy one liners ichibans a lose cannon with a really short fuse which is a pretty cool concept if they keep exploring it honestly

idk the action cut scenes in this game are also kinda weird, i think the most memorable so far for me were actually the ones in the fight with sawashiro after he kills the seiryu clan patriarch, him just fuking being so overtly dramatic through the whole thing was really fun to watch (also the majima and saejima combo attacks cuz theyre silly and theyre them)

related to that point, i’m surprised by how normal it feels to see them. sometimes watching idols just on your phone at home you get really starstruck and feel like they’re superstars but both times i’ve seen them irl i felt like. these are just a couple of guys. not in a disappointing way but when i see them physically, even though im screaming and squealing im just like “these are my little guys and they’re doing a great job singing and dancing” rather than “these are untouchable superstars”, which is not a bad thing really.

hype as fuck, talented beautiful MY ATEEZ, good atmosphere. i hear it was less rowdy than the eu dates but i still liked it. you do feed off the energy of the people around you and i was next to a french girl who was talking to her camera and singing and dancing, and two korean girls who kept gasping and yelping whenever something especially sexy came up on screen. good seatmates

also yeosang kind of surprised me. he was very self-assured and his presence is larger than it usually comes across. might be the difference in watching a full concert or his style has changed somewhat, couldn’t tell you. he was funny too, made people laugh a lot. when they were giving their ending speeches/thanks he was speaking so gently and sweetly and some atiny from the second floor just BELTS just screams like she’s being attacked YEOSANG SARANGHAAAAAEEEEEEEEE so every single person in the stadium hears it and he takes a perfect beat and then says “thank you.” and keeps talking. silky soft honey voice, very very beautiful, amazing styling, graceful gentle appearance. also it’s hilarious that they zoom in on his ass during its you

seonghwa is very dazzling to me i’ve realized. we all i think react to different members in different ways and to me every time i see him im going HOOOOO taking off my cowboy hat holding it to my chest eyes downturned in humility. one time they’re talking to each other in between songs and im making an effort to follow the conversation as best i can and it cuts to seonghwa and i go OOOOOOOOOOH and 10 seconds later i realize i haven’t heard a word he said. obviously very striking, skilled, passionate, lovely. the sword part of wonderland never really hit for me watching videos but when i was there our whole row while he was swinging it around were going whoooo! woww! cool! love love loved matz even though i don’t personally care for that song he and hj are so insanely cool in it and everyone’s chanting GO GO GO GO, and everything’s dark red and orange

yunho is very agile and quick, you can tell just watching him dance on video but live it’s like holy fuck he’s moving. him and mingi are crazy to watch cause they’re physically so big they look like they should not be able to move that smoothly and that quickly, it’s like an optical illusion. he got a lot of love for his birthday, at the end of youth mingi directed us to sing happy birthday to him, it was really cute. and there was a whole birthday thing at the end where the members + crowd sang the whole thing for him and he used seonghwa’s sword to cut a cake graphic on the screen. he looked really happy and like he was enjoying himself a lot, i liked watching him. also just intimidatingly technically skilled at basically everything he does

hongjoong is hongjoong, i think he’s the sickest person in the world i love him so much. love his swag and expressions and nasality, always so so fun to watch. he’s ridiculously doll face pretty but also his swag is so different and his bitch is too bad.

the worst part about san is he looks like that in real life. as i said i got a good look at him on the choo choo train and im pretty sure it depleted some of my hit points. so powerful as a performer as well, hits so hard. sometime in the beginning he’s being dragged away by government agents or ghosts or something and it’s a great shot of his body and the korean girls next to me go WAOOOOOOOOOOW and they emphatically make hand signs like an inverted triangle at each other (like, the shape of his upper body). when they were in street clothes i saw one of them far away from the side and im like, huh who’s that, and then he turns his back towards my side and i go ah, it’s the shoulders guy. he’s a killerrrr but the one thing is his performance feels less personal to me these days. like im drawn to performers who put a lot of personality and for lack of a better word, their whole pussy into it (that’s why i love ateez in the first place) but he feels a little distant to me at times? don’t know if it’s a me thing

jongho is also always fun to watch just as a person. he’s very deadpan and borderline mean in his humor, he’s a cool guy. amazing vocal performance today. usually the moments that would have every one of us screaming would be a very slutty body roll or a crazy jongho note. i think he actually added some new ones that weren’t there just to prove a point? love that guy. AND him and wooyoung did the card thing again in arriba, it’s hot af and it’s rare for jh to play into fanservice in that way so i love it. was obsessed with it even when i saw it from copenhagen

MY WOOYOUNG very handsome. looked so good every single time the camera found him. for his killing part in bouncy (k-hot chilli peppers) he did the whole thing where he claps swings his hands around and claps again while smirking all sexy which is important to ME cause when i first got into ateez that part (and him in the mv) is what really killed me dead. i imprinted on it at a vital developmental stage and now we’re here. and my thoughts rn is he shines so hard he’s SO GOOD when he has that space to be just cocky and impish and seductive and fun. for me honestly recently im missing a bit of that from ateez songs, i need him to have the space to do all that cause hes so soooo good when he has it. he kills me dead

this picks up six weeks or so after the end of the after. pleaseeeee hype me up a girl is rusty and could use the validation! this might be a little lengthy for a teaser but TRUST this chapter is lengthy. we got a lot to get through. comments and asks keep me fed, i love to talk about my little barbies as i put them through trials and tribulations.

Your fingers tap on the arm of the door as you and Javi smoothly glide past the blue Welcome to Oklahoma road sign. 

The blinding winter sun fills the truck as Javi’s hand reaches out to squeeze your thigh. “Feel good to be back baby?”

You let out a breath you didn’t know you were holding as the familiar Oklahoma landscape welcomes you back into its arms.

“You’ve got no idea.” You say, a little laugh escaping your mouth and Javi gives you a grin, squeezing your thigh again. 

As the roads open up, Javi’s foot presses down on the gas. 

“Let’s get on home baby.”

The faded yellow paint on the brick welcomes you as Javi’s truck creeps on down the icy roads. The truck rolls to a stop as Javi pulls into the long winding driveway. He idles for a minute, the headlights beaming back at you from the metal front of the too big garage.

“We’re home.” You breathe as the key clicks in the ignition. 

Javi gives you a small smile. “You’re home.” You wrench the door open, hopping down from the truck.

“How much time do we have?” You ask as you round the truck, fishing for the keys in your jacket pocket as you make your way up to the front porch. 

“We’ve got about an hour for you to give me the tour and to haul everything in and then we’ll have to hit the road again.” You hum as his fingers find yours. “Surprised your drive is clear.”

“Taylor, that girl that’s been living here, paid the Johnson boys down the road to shovel it when she moved before Christmas. Their Dad would’ve done it for free since he shovels the Andersons drive next door but Ryan and Nicky won’t say no to a little extra cash. Fuels their lego hobby.” 

“You sure know a lot about your neighbors.” Javi comments as you fiddle with the lock. 

You shrug. “I didn’t spend a lot of time here but when I did, those people helped make Oklahoma home.” The lock finally clicks and you nudge the wood door open, feeling something in your bones settle at the sight of the space. 

The brick of the living room welcomes you, the couch and coffee table Taylor had picked out filling the otherwise vast space. Javi takes a few steps in, glancing in at the sage green walls of the kitchen and the backyard. 

“Taylor picked out a lot of stuff for the house while I was gone. With my approval and credit cards, of course. It was pretty bare bones when she took over the space but I have a long way to go to make it a home again.” You say, nerves creeping up as Javi poked his head out the back door.

He shuts the door, turning to you with a grin on his face. “Honey, it’s perfect.” 

You give him a bashful grin as he steps a few feet closer to you. “If you really think so, I don’t know why you don’t just stay here.” 

He side steps you, headed back out towards the car. “Because living in a house with a tiki hut by the pool would damage my street cred.”

“It’s a backyard bar!” You yell with an exasperated sigh.

“Tiki hut!”

You let out a little laugh as the door shuts behind Javi to prevent what little heat there was from escaping. 

You pause for a minute, looking around the space before setting off deeper into the house. 

Taylor (and honestly Taylor’s girlfriend) had done a good job with the space while she had been here. The office had a desk and a chair but lacked a computer. The spare guest bedroom had a bed but no bedding and the master bedroom was void of any life. The walls in the house were bare and the spare bedroom would definitely need a new paint job, the bathrooms needing bathmats and all the other things to make it useful. But the bones were good. 

The carpet had been newly replaced when you moved in and Taylor had done a lot around the house to repay you for the kindness you’d shown by letting her live here. As if you’d needed it returned in any way. 

It had come a long way from the place you crashed in between chases, with nothing but an air mattress and a spare set of towels in the cabinet. 

Javi’s hand on your back startles you, causing you to jump as he wraps his arms around your waist and tucks his head into your shoulder. 

“Easy, ‘s just me.” He soothes, pressing a kiss to your shoulder. “What you thinking about kid?”

You shrug. “I waited so long to have a house of my own and I finally got it and I didn’t even know what to do with it. Like if it had been up to me, all that would still be in this place was my air mattress.” 

He hums. “You never told me why you left Oklahoma in the first place.” 

You draw in a sharp breath as you stiffen. “Look, you’re friends with Tyler and I don’t really want to upset the balance-“

Javi takes a step back. “I don’t care about Tyler’s feelings more then I care about yours-“

“Yes, but it’s- I’m not-“ You swallow, the anger rising in you bitter in your mouth. “I’m not trying to cause a mess between you and your friends.”

A frown tugs at Javi’s lips. “But-“ 

“We’re not going to fight about this right now. We need to get ready to head over to Kate’s soon and it doesn’t do me any favors if we’re bickering like this.”

You hear Javi let out a sigh behind you as you pad down the stairs, letting the cool January air soothe the sting of your eyes.

No need for his friends to hate you any more than they already did.

“Javi.” You groan, batting his hand away. “I don’t need you to help me, I’m not gonna fall.” 

“That’s what everyone says and then down they go.” He says, following behind your careful to catch you if you slip on the ice. 

“That’s very sweet of you Javi, really, but I am a strong independent woman who can take care of herself-“

“I’m not saying that-“

“Bickering like an old married couple already?” 

You and Javi both pause, blinking at the small blonde standing in the front door. Javi stares for a few seconds before a blinding smile breaks out across his face. 

“Addy.” He breathes out, taking one large step forward and reaching out for the petite girl. He all but scoops her up into his arms, careful to set her down properly on the hardwood of the Carter’s farmhouse. 

“This kind of reaction and you’d think he didn’t ignore me for six years.” She huffs, turning to you. Javi squawks, red creeping his neck at the callout. 

“I was-“

“Moping, we know.” She says with a roll of her eyes. “Pretending to play military man, being angsty, whatever you want to call it.”

Her teasing earns a small smile from you as she shoulders the door open, welcoming you and Javi in to the foyer. “I’m Addy.” She offers, shutting the front door behind you. “Javi, Kate and Tyler are out in the barn if you wanna go say hi.” 

Javi glances down at you, a silent conversation happening between the two of you. 

Once he’s satisfied you’re okay to face the Wranglers alone, he turns for the door again. “Hey, tell them to be nice. No hazing my girlfriend in the five minutes I’m gone, you got that?” He says as he slips through the door, earning him a dismissive wave from Addy. 

You follow the girl into the living room, shoving your hands into the pockets of Javi’s Muskogee hoodie as the Wranglers come into view. Anticipatory nerves you hadn’t let yourself feel until now bubble in your stomach, making you swallow. 

Boone cranes over the couch, eyes going wide at the sight of you. He lets out a “Holy shit!” before leaning so far he tumbles off and hits the ground with an oof.

Dani and Lilly let out a peal of laughter at his situation that dies when their gaze sweep up to you. 

You offer a nervous smile as Boone scrambles up from the ground, lanky body colliding with yours in a tight hug. 

“Where in the hell did StormPar dig you up from?” He asks, voice muffled into the sweatshirt. 

“So I’m a good surprise then?” You ask, hands flexing against his back in an attempt to soothe your nerves.

“Damn right you’re a good surprise.” Dani declares, pulling Boone off of you. “Let others have a hug, damn.” 

Your laugh is more genuine this time, wrapping your arms around Dani’s build. “You been good?”

She squeezes your shoulder, stepping back as she smirks at you. “Plenty of time to catch you up on all of it.” 

“And plenty of time for you to tell us where you’ve been hiding away.” Lilly says with a bump of her hip against yours. 

The front door opens again, welcoming the sound of Tyler and Javi’s laughter, alongside what must be Kate’s voice. 

“-so, it’s like I was saying right-“ Kate stops, a small smile on her face. “Javi, this is your girlfriend?” She turns to him. “I’d almost say she’s too pretty for you.” 

You’d laugh at Kate’s comment, but Tyler’s eyes harden at the sight of you and he’s quick to sidestep Kate, passing by the Wranglers in quick strides to get into the kitchen. 

Kate’s eyebrows furrow in confusion. “What was that?”

“That was Tyler Owens being a big baby.” Javi says as he crosses his arms. 

“That cleared up even less for me.” She says, eyes flitting between you and Javi. 

“I’m starting to pick up on the vibe that y’all know each other somehow.” Addy says, mirroring the confusion of her best friend. 

“I used to help out with the social media for the Wranglers.” You explain as Boone’s arm finds a home on your shoulders. 

“I don’t miss the bickering.” Dani says with a shake of her head, hands on her hips. 

“Wait, but I thought Javi met you in California?” Addy asks, her confusion only growing. 

“It’s a long story.” You offer as Kate’s Mom calls out for you all. “And uh for the record, neither do I.” You say in response to Dani’s comment. 

The seven of you move towards the kitchen, ready to pack in for dinner as Dani eyes you. “Really? You saying you ain’t be willing to chase with us again?” 

“I’d literally rather-“ die. You cut yourself off, remembering who you’re around and clear your throat. “I can think of a million other things I’d rather be doing. Like experiencing medieval forms of torture.” 

“Hey, we ain’t that bad.” Lilly defends. “Well, Boone maybe.” 

Boone lets out an undignified squawk, protesting Lilly’s comment as he navigates you around the table. You glance back out at Javi helplessly as Boone chatters away but your boyfriend only finds humor in the situation as Cathy introduces herself and begins to hand out plates. 

The group seats themselves around the wooden table and you swallow, realizing the only open seat is between Javi and Tyler. 

You squeeze Javi’s hip and he looks down at you, almost immediately understanding your silent signal and switches with you so you’re now between him and Dani. The move doesn’t go unnoticed by Kate though, who peers curiously at you as you sit. 

“So, how’d you and Javi meet?” Cathy asks as she passes the salad to Dexter. 

“And please, don’t spare any detail.” Addy says with a smirk. “The more embarrassing for Javi the better.”

“Hey.” Dani says as she plops down next to you at the foot of the stairs. “Trying to make a quick exit?”

“I’m never gonna get to go home.” You moan quietly, hearing Kate and Javi chatter away in the kitchen as they clean the dishes from dinner. 

She snorts, taking a swig of her beer. “Nah, you’re gonna have to drag him out of here by the ankles.” 

It’s quiet for a minute, Dani’s fingers tapping against her beer bottle in a rare moment of pensive thought. 

You bump her shoulder. “Out with it. You wanna say something.” 

She swallows, setting her beer down. “Look, I ain’t gonna pretend to understand why you disappeared or why you and T won’t even look at each other.” 

“I’m not gonna offer an explanation Dani.” You say firmly as you meet her eye. She studies you, nodding as she sees the resolution in your eyes. 

“You just- you can’t disappear again, okay? No more of that. You got a problem, we work it out. We’s a family, that’s what we do.” 

You snort, a bitter taste on your tongue. “A family, yeah right.”

“Hey.” She says sharply. “We are. And you were apart of it too. And you took off and no one heard from you for two years. No one knew if you were dead or alive, just that one morning we woke up with you gone and T not wanting to talk about why.”

“I don’t know what you want me to say here Dani.” You say tiredly. “I already told you I’m not offering up an explanation.” 

She pauses a few beats, the lively conversation of the Wranglers a few feet away filtering in before her voice drops a few levels. “After everything, you and me were closer than that. After all you confided in me about-“

“Yeah, well maybe I realized I couldn’t trust you with that shit.” You say, pulling yourself up off the step. “Not if you were gonna run off with it all to Tyler.” 

She frowns, following you as you walk into the living room. “How do you know I talked to Ty-“

“Everything okay?” Javi calls cautiously, earning your attention. He’s wiping his hands on a kitchen towel, eyeing the two of you with trepidation. 

“I’m tired. Can we go?” You ask, shoulders deflating. 

“Yeah, just let me go grab my coat, okay?” Javi says gently. 

Dani’s hand lands on your shoulder as Javi disappears back into the kitchen. “Look, I’m just trying to say-“ 

“I don’t really care what you’re trying to say.” You snap, shaking her hand off your shoulder. “I’m just here for Javi. If I had it my way, I’d never see another Tornado Wrangler for as long as I live.”

“Can we talk about dinner at the Carters?” Javi asks quietly as you pour more paint into the tin. 

He’s propped up in the middle of the room as he files paperwork for his and Kate’s new office in Tulsa, mostly there for moral support as you paint the spare bedroom a soft sky blue. 

You sigh, squatting to adjust some tape against the floorboards. 

“I’m sorry Javi. I shouldn’t have gotten into it with Dani.” 

“I just- I don’t understand. They all clearly care a great deal about you so I just don’t get what happened.”

“I’ve told you I don’t want to talk about it.”

“I get that but I-“ He licks his lips. “I want this to work.” 

“I know.” You say softly, running the brush gently against the tape. “I know you do Javi. I’m sorry.”

“This doesn’t work if you can’t get along with them, you know?” He sighs and you see him tug at his curls out of the corner of your eye. “It doesn’t work if you- you can’t find some common ground with ‘em. Owens, okay, I know that’s a no-go. But you’re my whole world and I- I want to see you become a part of my family.” 

Your paint strokes pause as you look up, tears stinging at your eyes. 

“Come chasing with us for the first few weekends, while it’s still slow and we’re testing out the polymer. I won’t get you anywhere near the tornados, I swear but I-“ Javi cuts himself off again and sighs. “Look, Dani would kill me if she knew I said this alright? But she really worried about you while you were gone and she, Boone, the team, want to make this right with you. So to hell with Owens, okay. But Kate and Addy haven’t even gotten a chance to really know you and you’ve written them off too.” 

It’s quiet as you set the paint brush down, jaw tightening as you bite back tears. Javi sets his computer to the side, moving to take you in his arms and pulls you into his lap. 

“They’re good people. I know you saw that once too.” 

Your throat burns with unasked questions, insecurity thrumming through you. 

And when it’s not enough? When you realize I’m not enough? What then?

“One weekend.” He says softly, pressing a kiss to your jaw. “One weekend, that’s all I’m asking.”

The first chase of the season finds you at the tail end of February, nearly six weeks after you and Javi make the move back to Oklahoma. 

The storm, too early in the season and too small to be much of use to the team’s polymer tests, becomes a Wrangler and Tamer exclusive outing. No cameras, just them. 

And you… for some reason. 

Javi had been insistent you come out with them, begged and pleaded, batted his eyes and making all kind of sweet promises and somehow managed to get you in the front seat of his truck, Dani and Addy in the seats behind you. 

The tornado had fizzled as quickly as it came, making for a less than exciting show, but it becomes quickly clear to you that the tornado wasn’t the real highlight of the trip. 

“Do you wanna get food?” Javi calls out as he steps out of the bathroom. 

You glance up at him, a giggle escaping. “Dude, put a shirt on, Dani and Lilly are gonna be back any time.” 

“Nah, Ty will keep them busy.” He says with a smirk, ambling his way over to the bed. “Why, you don’t like what you see?” 

More laughter escapes as Javi stands over you, droplets from his wet curls hitting your cheeks. 

“Alright keep it in your pants Rivera.” 

Javi startles as the both of you find Boone coming through the door of your motel room. 

“Boone, don’t you have your own room?” 

He shrugs, already opening the pizza box in his hand as he saddles himself on the bed. “Yeah but it’s too cold to have a fire going and bothering you is way more fun.” Javi huffs, turning to his bag that sits by the bathroom door and digs around for a t-shirt. Boone grins at you around a bite of pepperoni pizza. “Want a slice?”

similar to caine she uses your ears and tail as a means to gauge your internal feelings about things. ragatha is a lot more low energy and calmer compared to some of the other characters on this list... has the least issues of reading you. pulls you away if youre getting uncomfortable in any situation, and oftentimes stands up for you if someone is trying to push you something you dont actually want to do... a lot of the times those people tend to be jax.. but we'll talk about that in his part. I like to think she would try to give you little pep talks when she notices you're a little down.. makes frequent compliments to you and the things you do (skills, hobbies, ect). her room is always open to you whenever you need an escape!

JAX:

really a lot of his "coercing" is just him teasing you and, in a somewhat mean way, trying to subtly push you to get a backbone and find your limit. he wont say it or really express it, but you guys are friends and he does want to see you be able to speak for yourself... its just how he goes about it can be a little... erlrkgkh.... you know? since HES the one trying to test your boundaries and get you to snap at him. i dont think he would go as far as make fun of your hobbies and interests to make you stand up for yourself.. thats just. a smidge to mean, since youre his friend. definitely calls you wolf/dog-based nicknames, most of them dont fall into the "im trying to make you stand up for yourself" thing and more so "haha i think its funny and genuinely lighthearted"

she gets it, she really does... you two probably talk to one another about your problems to one another... you both find comfort in it and in a way it makes you both feel better. seeing you uncomfortable or anxious kind of empowers gangle to come and help you out, regardless of which mask shes wearing. i like to think it would to the same for you if the roles were reversed... its kind of like how you stop being anxious momentarily when you see your friend struggling and being anxious themselves and you back them up or speak for them, you know? or maybe thats just a me thing... shrugs. probably gives you bows and ribbons to put on your tail to accessorize it

This was one of the most magical weekends of my life, by far the best one this year so far and I think it will hold up pretty damn well in the long run. I am so, so happy that I didn't end up selling my Saturday ticket, despite it being an upper level seated ticket. Openers were really good, I enjoyed both Pilvet pilvet and JC Stewart, and I hope to hear more from both in the future.

Saturday's setlist was a bit of a shock, ngl. No ASTP? No NGVOT? No Barve?? On the other hand: my soul ascended during the Gola opening and I was very emotional during Vem da greš. It's been an anthem for me since last fall, and getting to experience it live, even from my seat, was just... yeah. A Lot. We'd gotten folded paper butterflies to hold up if they played Metulji and it was one of the most beautiful renditions I have heard of it, with Jan on the piano, Bojan singing and a sea of paper butterflies floating. I could be wrong, but Bojan seemed a bit taken by the whole thing in a positive way.

I had maybe had a feeling that Everybody's waiting would be a song that would come into its own right live and it definitely did. This weekend really made me fall even more in love with it, and though Bojan was clearly nervous about it, it was nice to see a bit of humour around the performance, with Jan having to help play the intro notes.

The two new songs they premiered on Saturday were such bangers, I have not been able to get them out of my head. Between Šta bih ja and Bluza, I am leaning more towards Bluza. There is something about it that gives me the same kind of emotional response as Vem da greš, but they are both going to be on heavy rotation, the sound is just... chef's kiss for both.

I know there had been a lot of hype and expectations re: Käärijä and the possibility of him doing a song with them. As much as it would have been fun, I'm actually happy he didn't, and simply got to enjoy the show as a spectator. Getting Häärijä as Hojan was more than enough, I think I pulled something laughing so hard.

We got the band out for a second encore (after Carpe Diem and Novi val), and they did Šta bih ja again, and it made my heart so fucking happy to see them so excited and bouncy.

For Sunday, I had early entrance, and let me tell you... when Bojan announced they were soundchecking ASTP... my soul left me, I was fucking LEVITATING. Getting NGVOT with Kris after that (following a very random rendition of Ring of Fire by Bojan) was just perfection. I also completely froze when Jure came over and talked to the girls in front of me. Like I fully just glitched, couldn't make myself speak, couldn't make myself take a picture, just stood there like the personification of bluescreening. That sunshiney fucker has too much power.

They switched up the setlist for Sunday and as sad as I was at losing out on Vem da greš up close, I felt more than happy about instead getting Barve oceana and Padam, as well as another new song. Setlist said it was called Schlager, Bojan said it might be named Behind Those Eyes OR Galaxy of Me, so it's going to be fun to see what they settle on finally. Either way, the song was a whole damn vibe, and I hope people going to the rest of the tour will get to enjoy both these and other new songs.

Padam had me up in my feels HARD. Again with Jan accompanying on the piano, it was just a really raw and intimate rendition that hit me right in my soul. I've had "Zdaj padam in padam, a me bo kdo ujel?" on my letterboard at home for the last two months, and hearing this line... ooft, my heart.

Having seen recordings of Novi val live is NOTHING compared to experiencing it live. It is one of the best songs out there and the chorus hits me every. single. time. There is something so sweet and gentle about the setup of it, Kris on guitar, Bojan singing and the rest of them just enjoying the moment, taking everything in.

I think the thing that I'll ultimately cherish the most is the easy atmosphere, the connection the band had with the audience, and the fact that I got to be there and that I got to do all of this with friends. This weekend has been a beacon for me since they announced it and since I got the tickets. Going to a JO gig has been on my bucketlist. I got to cross that off and have so much fun while doing it, and you can bet your fucking ass I will try to get tickets to Ruisrock this summer.

everything makes so much more sense in the book if you assume that jekyll's crisis started being visible to his friends when he hit 40 and quit his promising career as a professor of law

1. why lanyon hates him so much. its not that jekyll was researching magic per se, its that jekyll made a huge change out of nowhere into a field jekyll knows basically nothing about and started claiming he's an expert in it. to hastie, that looks like quackery

2. jekyll is a fellow of the royal society, which means he's done "great things for the world of science and mathematics". considering he was a lawyer up until age 40, the idea that he's bribed his way in (and that straining his relationship with lanyon further) makes a lot of sense

3. why utterson clings to the protege idea for hyde. jekyll, being still very new to that field and kinda out of his league, taking on an apprentice (probably a uni student or recent grad) to help actually run things makes a LOT of sense

4. jekyll writing his own will, and the things he says when utterson complains again. jekyll knows he's done a lot of weird shit. he also knows civil law like a mfer and knows he has utterson by the balls on this one. but this really explains why he's like "i know this is just the icing on the cake of weird shit i've forced you to endure. sorry :/"

5. jekyll living in that shitty neighborhood. he saw some doctor died and medicine (especially being a famous doctor) is a special interest of his, so he bought that lab and WILL NOT LEAVE IT. HIS LAB

6. hyde going in and pointing out loopholes in biblical passages. that's what he was doing, right? writing blasphemies? he was bored and saw a buncha laws written out and figured he'd do what jekyll used to do - case review

7. why jekyll's notes on the experiments SUCK. once its in writing, you're fucked, legally. also why he won't admit to any real crimes in the confession other than the already-solved case

8. him insisting on putting MD before DCL or any other title. that's the one he wants to highlight. please believe he's a real pharm-dawg. please take his medicine seriously

9. he's basically a conspiracy theorist who decides to get really into, idk, learning how 5G towers work, and has a friend who works for a telecom company, and suddenly friend finds out the conspiracy theorist quit his "real job" to build his own 5G towers or some shit like that. jekyll is those flat earthers who get lost at sea trying to find the ice wall

10. im still not over jekyll suddenly building a state of the art lab on his own just for shits and giggles. so much expensive glassware... and the labcoat again. he DEFINITELY has a custom leather labcoat that he never wears except to flex on lanyon

11. any adaptation that lets jekyll be a respected physician is just repeating the lies jekyll told us

12. im not against people suddenly changing careers as they age and realize more about themselves. that's part of the reason i'm obsessing over this, is i can't stand the workplace i'm in rn and will be making a similar choice to jekyll when i can afford it

13. re:12 i want to highlight how maybe if his friends gave a shit about his mental health maybe things wouldn't be so bad. my poor autistic king who accidentally ruined himself with overindulging in his special interest and bad coping mechanisms bc his social support was nonexistant. #mecore

14. re:13 fuck lanyon and fuck utterson for doing this. this is what makes the story such a tragedy to me. its like looking in a mirror and seeing the man you MIGHT become. hyde is here for me but please don't let him be the only one here for me

sonic 3 spoilers (longer - very long thoughts)

just thoughts about something that i would add to the movie

1) i fully expected sonic to take the photo of shadow and maria and later give it to him, since he destroyed everything else and it would be nice like "hey i held onto this for you, might be important" i think it would be a nice way to connect them in an even stronger way. it felt like the rivals to friends was rushed, though shadow seemed to be depicted as more youthful here, i still feel like he would need something more to get through him (but then he def felt something already when he hit tom so it wasnt like a sudden switch or anything)

2) maybe i wasnt paying full attention but robotniks last words came kinda out of nowhere, i really expected them to show at least a little bit of the times stone cared for him. like have him go through the realization and let him feel it on screen a bit longer. maybe he had a moment of thought but i dont remember that. (also it was good but kinda silly in retrospect he really broadcasted it to the whole world 0 shame 😭 just imagining bot from the first movie seeing his future self say that. hed explode)

i would add like 10-20 mins to the movie for this. just let the characters stop for a moment and feel. but then, its a sonic movie. the audience is 5 year olds. it doesnt matter. but i still felt like a lot has been cut or missing? - then again, i need to rewatch it/watch the original to see the original pacing and wording of things. perhaps some things got lost in translation or whatever. i also couldnt concentrate cause someone kept fucking talking over the movie. but what wasnt shown just wasnt shown. also for shadow idk i thought they would go for some brooding scene in the vibe of spiderverse introductions but it went all action but ig they made up for it later i loved the scenes with maria and the stargazing (back when i was into sonadow stargazing was my fave trope for them. stars in general. so this was beautiful. shadow as a falling/fallen star too and in this case it applied to both him and sonic)

3) more music. again this might be just the case of the dubbed version but i felt a severe lack of music? and to me personally the live and learn part felt extremely weak, the orchestral version or whatever it was is nice but here it wasnt hype enough for me. idk, again, maybe the og will feel different but you know. if more of the scenes were treated music wise like the dance ones id be more hyped, i dont like when they use a song but only like 4 seconds of it and stuff. to compare it with an example of what i loved it would definitely be deadpool - the opening fucking slayed and also the like a prayer part. that shit went hard as hell and i didnt even like dp3 that much.

but overall i feel like the pacing was so much better in this one than the second movie and it felt like they actually gave more screentime to the nonhuman characters this time

- this is more critical but there were also parts that i loved and like overall the movie was good, i liked the story, i liked what they did with shadow (i wish they stretched out the tokyo part longer though, that was dope), loved what they did with him and maria, the movie felt balanced enough (but i felt that way about 2 and then on rewatch it was noticeable how many useless human scenes there were so that might change), the gun agents were walking the thin line of being too annoying but it was doable, i loved what they did with walters! also i like wade as a character but this was just enough (people were Groaning when he got on screen lmfao) same applies to the others but i was surprised that was it. so silly

however i still enjoyed 2 more. but this might just be the case of "im super tired, quite depressed, i dont care about anything rn, some ppl fucked me over today and i dont feel good, the vibe is off, i cant hear half of the movie, im too hot and got low bp and keep hearing my heartbeat louder than anything else, and i didnt get a happy ending" rather than "movie bad"

when they revealed shadow in 2 i was jumping off of my seat and gripping the one in front of me. this post creds reveal here was like "oh! okay nice" (<- expected this so 0 surprise or anything)

also for 2 i went in with low expectations and got peak. for 3 i expected better than 2. so i failed myself there

i wish i could say i enjoyed this even more than the 2nd movie. i wish i got back from the cinema just typing out jumbled words and screams on social media like after the 2nd. i got out of this one like "i have to pretend i loved this greatly like i had to do with the fnaf movie" but this was at least better than the fnaf movie to me lmao

fucking sonic prime got more reactions out of me than this movie and i wanted to enjoy it so bad. anyway i need meds or something i ran out of D3 its also that speaking thru me
