realizing I'm really spoiled by a certain media franchise that's big on non-human characters (including characters that were once human but were forcibly turned into something else) still being "people", with their own feelings and pains. that always maintained that even if the monster characters can heal or not die, bad stuff that happens to them or is done to them still matters, rather than them being subjected to violence and pain being okay just because they are monstrous entities (even ones that are technically beyond stuff like physical pain). other characters always care about what happens to them, even if they're strong enough to recover from it, instead of dismissing it as irrelevant. that they are allowed to learn how to care about what happens to themselves too, that they shouldnt dismiss their own suffering just because they're inhuman and able to survive or heal from it, or even if they chose it. that even if they're a world-consuming monster determined to enact their own destruction, hurting or killing them is not something that should be done without guilt or grief or narrative weight.

just. the theme that even if you've been made into a killing machine, or a monster, or an inter-dimensional world-destroying entity, you still have a heart, and what happens to that heart matters....

see, what gets to me about this scene (besides the obvious) is that like Solas says this, but he also goes on and on with iron bull about how the qun is bad because they don't allow people to think.

Like for me it just does not make a ton of sense for one second he say that no the qun's not necessary and then turn around and say that the "qunari's ferocity is only held in check by the qun" mf you have to pick one
