I've been turning your persona 4/5 merfolk au around in my brain for the past couple of days and I was wondering if you'd thought of what specific seal species teddie is? or what fish the rest of the investigation team are? idk if you still think about it anymore (it's ok if not!) but it's such a fun concept

oh thats an old au aaaah but it makes me happy its interesting to other people still!! im gonna just list them all in this case

souji - black tip reef shark mermaid

yosuke - standard clownfish mermaid

chie - tiger shark siren

yukiko - ruby longfin fairy wrasse mermaid

kanji - blue fin tuna mermaid

rise - tessalata morray eel siren

teddie - ringed seal mermaid (still has white baby fur)

naoto - weirdly blue cleaner shrimp mermaid

the difference between mermaids and sirens is that sirens are more nomadic and capable of eating human flesh, but they dont require it as a staple part of their diet (sirens are also strictly carnivorous and always have tails of predator fish, while mermaids are omnivorous and can be of any type of aquatic animal)

also quickly adding on in case anyone would be curious, out of p5 gang ryuji is a sand tiger shark siren hybrid, futaba is a barracuda mermaid hybrid and akechi is a lionfish mermaid hybrid
