random legacy challenge x 100 baby challenge
hi, yes, i do hate myself! but i am a trooper and that's the main thing i wanted to give myself a challenge where my sims are still my sims (i.e not having to follow a generational prompt) but with a twist plus, i have always wanted to do the 100 baby challenge but i hate the fact that it's supposed to be crazy af, so i'm kinda toning it down a bit????
so my basic rules are:
have at least 3 children per generation
role a random career, traits* and aspiration for each sim
randomise the town ur heir is gonna live in
the only generational goals are to finish their aspiration and get at least level 7 in their career
continue playing until my heirs have birthed 100 sims between them (so it could be way longer than 10 gens)
you're allowed to reroll your career/aspiration if its the same as your last heir
*you can use the in-game randomiser to choose the traits
your sims love life is completely up to them cause having a randomiser control it might make the 100 babies aspect of the challenge difficult
idk why i'm doing this. maybe because it's such a huge challenge, i will stick to it??????? who knows cause i dont. if for some odd reason u wanna do it to, tag me or something!

Anonymously Autonomous: an Autonomy Based Legacy Challenge
For The Sims 2, The Sims 3, and The Sims 4
Have you ever played an ISBI (I'm Surrounded by Idiots) legacy, or an asylum challenge? Was it something you enjoyed, but felt a little ick about the name, and the premise being that the sims you don't control are "insane," "crazy," "erratic," or just in some way just stupid? Well, you're not alone! The autonomy in these games isn't great, but can make for some really chaotic situations that you'd never get if you controlled every single sim most of the time, so it's fun to occasionally play a game where your sims are allowed to just be their little chaotic selves. And I want to help facilitate the chaos because maybe I'm a little bit of a Watcher of Mischief myself. If you're interested, keep reading!
Basic Concept
If you know the ISBI and Asylum challenges, you know the main premise: you can only control one sim in your household. In the ISBI Legacy, your founder will eventually "pass the torch" on to their heir, who will become the next sim you can control, and you will no longer be able to control your previous sim. It's very simple. There are other rules, and some versions even include the addition of points, but that's the basic idea.
For AAL (Anonymously Autonomous Legacy), at the bare bones, it's the same exact concept: one single sim you can control. But I decided to do something a little different with this, as well, because I didn't want this to be just a renaming of the ISBI. I want it to be its own thing. And what that thing is is:
Randomization.
The sim you can control will not necessarily be your founder or heir at all times. When you only control one sim, it will always be that sim you control, but once you have multiple sims in your household, after a set period of time you have to Spin a Wheel with all of your household's eligible sims on it to pick what sim you will control during the next set period of time. Sometimes, you will get the same sim multiple times in a row. Sometimes you might never even get to control your heir. It will all depend on the wheel (or dice roller, or number randomizer, whatever you wish).
Interested? Good!
General Rules (for Sims 2, 3, and 4)
Create a YA sim of your choice. If you are playing TS2, you may start either as a YA in university, or you may start as an adult to start their life right away. They can have any personality, likes/dislikes, turn ons/offs, whatever you want.
If you want to start off with randomization from the very beginning, give them a spouse, and spin the wheel to decide who you play as from the beginning.
Use whatever age span you want to for this. However, short might make this even more difficult that it already will be, so only use short if you want an extra challenge.
You may not use money cheats.
Move into a lot using whatever money your family has. You may not give them more money to build them a nice house.
Optional: Move them into the biggest lot in the game (whichever iteration you're playing), and do some lawn living. If they still have a lot of money, reduce their money in a way you see fit - remove it through cheats, or purchase a really expensive item that serves no practical purpose.
Next generation begins when the heir becomes a YA.
Non-heir children may stay in the family home however long you want.
Autonomy Randomization Rules
Once you have more than one sim in your household, you must decide on a specific timeframe in which to randomize who you will be allowed to control and how long you can control them.
An example of what I mean by this is if you have four sims in your household. Let's call them Matthew, Frankie, Shawn, and Sky. Matthew is the founder, Frankie his wife, Shawn a child, and Sky a toddler. You input their names in the wheel, and spin it. The wheel lands on Shawn's name, so for that entire week, he is the only one you are allowed to play.
When you have a sim chosen to be the only one you can control, that is the only sim you may select. You may not select other sims to check their inventory, to check their needs, etc. Their needs and everything are a mystery to you. If they genuinely seem to be stuck, you may reset them however your particular iteration allows you to do so.
You may use your own timeframe for selecting a random sim, but I have come up with my own in case you want to use one of mine.
Weekly Randomization: On Sunday at 8 am, spin the wheel. From that moment until the next Sunday at 8 am, you will control only that sim.
Seasonal Randomization: This is similar to the previous one, but if you play TS4 and play with 14 day or 28 day seasons or have some kind of mod or cheats to modify the length of your seasons. On the first day of the season at 8 am, spin the wheel. From that moment until the first day of the next season, you will control only that sim.
Yearly Randomization: If you want more time with a single sim, this one is for you. On the first day of Spring at 8 am, spin the wheel. From that moment through all of Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter, you will control only that sim. On the first day of the next Spring at 8 am, you will spin the wheel again.
Age Span Randomization: The next time your current sim ages up, spin the wheel. So if your founder starts as a YA, spin the wheel when they age up to adult. If the next sim is a child, you play them until they age up to teen, and so forth.
No Randomization: This is an option. If you only want to control your torch holders, you don't have to randomize who you control at all, you can just control your founder then heirs, as long as you only ever control one sim at a time.
Random Randomization: This one would be rather difficult to keep track of, but if you want to, you can use either a number randomizer, or a dicer roller, or some way, to pick how many days you will control your current sim. When you first start controlling a sim, you will roll to find out how many days you may control that sim. Once you move onto the next sim, roll once again to find out how long you will control that sim.
This is all of the timeframes I can come up with right now, but if you have any ideas feel free to message them to me!
Another rule about the randomization is that you may roll the same sim multiple times in a row. You may not remove your current sim from the wheel - whatever sim you get is the one you play.
The sim you control doesn't need to be related to your family. If they are a controllable sim in your household, you must put them on the wheel. If you move in your best friend? You may end up controlling them more often than your own sim.
Optional: If you are going to be posting your legacy on Simblr, or somewhere else, and want to really follow the "anonymous" part of this challenge, keep the sim you are controlling a secret from your viewers! See if they can guess which sim is being controlled, maybe have a poll every time before the next switch just for fun.
General and Iteration-Specific Rules
The first thing I'm going to talk about is what sims are eligible to be put on the wheel, depending on which game you are playing.
The Sims 2: The sims eligible for being the controllable sim are as follows: toddlers, children, teens, young adults (if you send them to university), adults, and elders. All occults/supernatural beings are also eligible, if they are in your household. If you use cheats to control babies or pets, you may also add them to the wheel.
The Sims 3: The sims eligible for being the controllable sim are as follows: babies, toddlers, children, teens, young adults, adults, elders, cats, dogs, and horses. All occults/supernatural beings are also eligible, if they are in your household.
The Sims 4: The sims eligible for being the controllable sim are as follows: infants, toddlers, children, teens, young adults, adults, and elders. All occults/supernatural beings are also eligible, if they are in your household. Also, if you use the mod that allows you to play pets, you may add them to the wheel as well.
You may play however you would normally play, except that you are only allowed to play one sim at a time.
Mods and CC are allowed. You may even use mods that improve autonomy if you so wish.
For any of the games, you may set things up to make life easier for you. For example, I suggest using the baby monitor in TS3 if you end up having to play as a baby - that way, you can use it to call attention to yourself if you are in need. For TS4, I suggest using MCCC to make more things autonomous, like gardening and repairing items. Things like that.
When controlling a sim, you may use their reward points to purchase things. Even if they are rewards that will help you greatly, nothing is off limits. Use whatever advantage you are given.
Nothing in the build/buy modes are off limits either. If you want sim death, feel free to build the horrors. If you want to keep as far away from death as you want, you don't even need an oven. It's up to your discretion.
Also, how do you choose an heir? You can choose an heir any way you choose. Whether you choose the one you like the most, have an heir poll, or use one of the Succession Laws from the official legacy challenge, any way you prefer is fine.
What is the Goal?
Your goal is to get to the 10th generation, and will end when the 10th generation's youngest child ages up to YA. You may play further than this if you please, but that is the main goal.
However, this is not as simple as you might thing, and that is why it is your only required goal.
Because you will (probably) be randomizing which sim you can control, it's not always going to easy to keep your heirs alive, or even find your heir a spouse/significant other to have children with. After all, if you can't control the heir, how can you find them someone to love?
You will have to use whatever sim you are allowed to play to your advantage. If you can't play your heir, use the sim you can play to bring eligible sims to the household to meet your heir.
Another reason that the goal is simple is because sims are not the brightest bulbs in the box, or the sharpest tool in the shed (I had to say it). Some of your unplayable sims might very well die to something silly, like eating too many jelly beans (TS3) or starving to death. Some babies, infants, toddlers, or children may be taken away by social services. Some pets might be taken away as well.
Optional: If you want a little extra challenge, you can add the generational goal that you have to try to complete your heir's LTW/aspiration before they die.
"What is the fail condition for this challenge?" You may be asking. There is exactly one fail condition: every sim related to your family in the household dies/is taken away. So, realistically, this challenge is very difficult to fail. If you only have one related sim left in the household but there are relatives out in the world and you want some insurance, feel free to bring the family back into the home. Whatever you can do to not fail? Do it.
And that's all I have for now! I haven't put together points or anything, or a score card, because I know people don't really play challenges for points anymore. But, if enough people want to play for points, I will add a scoresheet/scoring section.
If you have any questions, please message them to me or comment on this post, and I will answer your questions to the best of my ability!
If you decide to play this challenge, please tag it with #SimsAALC so that I can see it!

💖Eternal Embrace Legacy Challenge💖
-A Legacy Of Forbidden Love By @misssoully-
This Sims 4 legacy challenge focuses on the enduring power of love that transcends boundaries and defies societal norms. Amidst rival families, cultural differences, and societal pressures, follow the journey of a family bound by forbidden romances, determined to preserve their love across generations.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Basic Premise:
The legacy begins with two teen Sims from rival families or backgrounds who defy their families' expectations and societal norms to pursue a forbidden romance.
As the legacy progresses through ten generations, each heir navigates the challenges of maintaining their family's love and unity while facing external pressures and internal conflicts. Additionally, they strive to end the ongoing feud at some point during the generations.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rules:
1. Forbidden Romance: Each generation must feature at least one forbidden romance that defies societal norms or familial expectations. These romances are predetermined for each generation.
2. Ongoing Conflicts: Maintain ongoing conflicts or tensions between the founding families throughout the legacy. These conflicts will influence their aspirations, traits, and relationships. Some heirs will attempt to stop the family's ongoing feud in certain generations.
3. Complete Rules: Each generation must complete its rules to advance to the next heir.
4. Mods and Custom Content: Mods and Custom Content are allowed and can add more spice and drama to the challenge, but they are optional.
5. Cheats: Cheats are only allowed when the first generation is living with their family and when they are moving into another lot to start the legacy challenge. Once they have moved out, no more cheats are permitted.
6. Money Tree: Each generation must have at least one money tree to represent their family wealth and crest.
7. Funds for Heirs: When each heir moves out of the house, they will have no funds to start with unless they have a part-time job. They can transfer the money they earned from their part-time job. Alternatively, use a spin wheel or a random number generator to determine how much money they should get from their parents, using a range of $0-$1,500.
8. Life Span: The life span must be set to the normal life span, with an additional 50 days for the elder life stage so they can live long enough to see their grandkids.
9. Occults: Occults are allowed if you want to have an occult love story while doing this challenge.
10. Lot Traits/Types: Each lot that the heir lives on must have the Simple Living lot trait. If you can't afford to buy a house, you must make the lot a rental until you have enough money to buy it, or you can live in the rental lot as long as you please.
11. Family Pet: Each heir must have an animal as a family pet.
12. Family Keepsake Box: Have a family keepsake box or any box that can store items.
13. Family Graveyard: Make a family graveyard for this legacy. If you are playing with vampires, this is optional.
14. More Traits Slot Mod: If you have the More Traits Slot mod, there will be an extra trait beside the rest of the traits with this symbol (+). You can choose any three traits out of the five traits that each heir must have.

Introducing Star Iliad!
We’re happy to announce our next game, “Star Iliad”! Now in development.
Star Iliad is a retro-futuristically themed Metroidvania that takes place inside a giant star whale.
See the teaser trailer!
youtube
In the game, you’ll play as Blythe Braves, a Star Ranger who patrols a remote region of the interstellar frontier. Heeding a distress signal, she investigates to find a curious large rock formation in the shape of a whale. Shortly after landing and locating a couple of castaways, her ship is destroyed by unknown alien creatures. Stranded and surrounded, but not outgunned, she joins forces with other castaways in a bid to escape. A big adventure ensues!
Where Phoenotopia had more Zelda-style leanings, Star Iliad dives deeper into Metroid territory with a larger, interconnected map and a stronger focus on gun combat. We’ve learned the correct lessons from Phoenotopia— which is… Guns are Good 👍 Bats are Bad 👎 (joking!)
The story won’t be taking a backseat. While Phoenotopia featured a large ensemble cast, Star Iliad narrows its focus to a smaller group of more thoroughly explored characters.
Tumblr media
(Characters can leverage expressive portraits to drive emotionally charged scenes)
Some additional in-development pics. We have both very finished & very unfinished looking areas.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Legacy of Phoenotopia
Since Phoenotopia’s development concluded, we’ve received some really encouraging emails from fans expressing how much they enjoyed it and even sharing their concern about whether we were doing alright. This meant a lot, especially considering Phoenotopia was not a strong seller.
For a while now, I’ve felt the need to allay those fears and let everyone know that we’re alive and hard at work on something new. With Steam’s fourth anniversary for Phoenotopia approaching, it felt like the right moment to finally share an update.
True, Phoenotopia was not a strong seller, but it would not turn out to be as bleak as I previously believed. Long after sales should have dwindled to zero, the game found a small, but steady threshold—a lifeline that has kept us funded. We’ve also been able to rely on family (and the occasional side job or two) to stay afloat.
Lastly, I think the game got some organic word of mouth, so there would be random times here and there where a youtuber or renowned streamer covered Phoenotopia and we’d get an unusual sales spike out of nowhere.
So, to all the fans who supported us, whether by buying the game, spreading the word, or just sending us kind messages—thank you! You’ve sustained us in ways you may not even realize, and we’re incredibly grateful 🙇
Chronicling Star Iliad’s development with a new Dev Log! (on wordpress)
After Phoenotopia, there was a bit of wandering around and thinking about what was next.
I wanted to settle into a quieter pace of development for a while. With Phoenotopia, I had been doing long form dev log updates. I wanted to try something different – a smaller, but more frequent form of dev logging. And it appeared that the new dev blogging meta was social media like Twitter & Instagram.
But there was no point in starting right away. Because 4 years back, we didn’t know what we were working on. It would take about a year of exploring & feeling around before “Star Iliad” developed enough shape and form that it could be talked about. Then we started twitter (@StarIliad) and instagram (@StarIliad), and started posting. Not as regular as I thought I would it turns out – short form updates have their own unique challenges and dev logging is always easy to neglect.
Still, if you’re curious, you can look at the StarIliad twitter account and enjoy the past 3 years of short form dev log posts (it may keep you entertained for all of 10 minutes).
As for the instagram account, it never quite took off, basically dying right out the gate >_>
In any case, we’re in the midst of development. It’s difficult to see the finish line from here, so I can’t announce a release date. What I can announce is the return of the dev log, where like times of yore, I will be chronicling our thoughts and tribulations until we reach the finish line. I invite you to join us by subscribing to the new dev log on wordpress.
(Also, please wishlist on Steam! It helps with the algorithm)

To be honest I wouldn’t use Time Eater. I’d still do the simple plot like any Mainline Mario game. Because that formula works well.
I’d say the plot could have Bowser make a new Universe to rule over with Peach. Because if he can’t take over the Universe, he’ll just make his own. He tries to kidnap Peach, but Mario stops him. Except the Universe he made wasn’t finished yet, and it was in a TV set.
So the TV set blows up and the Universe in it comes out. It becomes a black hole, and pulls in a bunch of characters and stuff.
Mario wakes up and sees that he’s in a museum. Each area is an exhibit of an open world like level. Basically each exhibit has a big open world and you go there to do stuff.
Fighting enemies, collecting stuff, or progressing story. Combining stuff like 64, Galaxy, and Odyssey. You can artifacts to display in the museum. Unlocking fun 2-D levels that are like a Metroid Mania. Where you can run around and collect items like power ups and coins. Each level is randomized so any artifacts you collect doesn’t have the same level. Some artifacts give easy types of levels, others give levels that are harder. You can put the artifacts you collected into a storage room. This storage room is a room you can go in a collect them the fun way. But if you want to collect them the easy way, you can just press a button a boom artifact mine. The fun way is like Mario Maker, where you can add enemies, traps, and bosses. If you don’t want to make a level, it can make it’s own level for you giving many challenges.
The story is that Bowser is looking for Peach. Because a good majority of Mario characters are all over the place. Each character has their own unique skills that have benefits when you play in each world. Where you can beat the game with any character, but they give versatility and strategy for each play through.
The game ends with Bowser getting defeated and the Universe he made taken away. Now it’s in a closest collecting dust.
For bosses, I’d go the Mario Odyssey route. Where each one requires a certain power up to defeat. Having a plethora of news ones and old ones. Yet they are reused like Bowser Jr for example. He has an ink-like dragon form, like those type of long slender dragons with no wings. Its design has a rubber hose base look. Using cartoonish things like boxing gloves, hammers, anvils, and wacky rays that shoot things like words, enemies, and just plain unpredictable.
Some worlds can be reminiscent to previous games. Except it’s better for it to be it’s own thing then be what it wants us to reminds us of.
Really good all around also sorry for taking long to respond to this, i'm taking a bit of a break from Ask's and i want to focus on other things.
But to give my thoughts i like what you'd laid out. It genuinely feels like a Mario game pitch i could see Nintendo and the Mario Team doing.
I do admit Randomized Metroidvania (or as you worded it "Metroid Mania") levels could have some problems that could be annoying but i can see it working but imo i think its better just to stick to pre-planned level design.
I still would like to do a post about Mario going through his own White Space but I definitely think this pitch is like the better choice for a more unique and original game.
But something about how White Space and how it does Time Travel is something I would love to apply to Mario one way or another. Because Sonic and Shadow Generations at least to me has always been a unique but awesome way to celebrate a Franchises history and legacy.
But for now that can wait, right now ironically enough i'm working on a post called "Why is Chaos Island in Shadow Generations" right now and it's killing me dude and i have another oneshot i just thought of.. and i'm learning Python right now so that's been fun as well as weird... and learning how to draw is something..
But hey great pitch!

Intergalactic Cage Match, is a wrestling game released for the Commodore 64 in 1987 by Mastertronic. Despite its ambitious premise of intergalactic wrestling bouts, the game is widely regarded as one of the worst titles ever published on the C64.
The gameplay is painfully monotonous. Although the game presents the illusion of variety by offering multiple opponents, this is nothing more than a facade. Once you defeat an opponent, the game forces you to fight the same one over and over again, completely eliminating any sense of progression. Instead of facing tougher challenges or moving up a ranking system, you’re trapped in an endless cycle, making the experience feel utterly pointless.
The control system is abysmal. Moving your wrestler feels sluggish and unresponsive, as if the joystick is embedded in oak wood. There is no fluidity in the way the characters move, and even attempting basic maneuvers feels like a struggle. The combat is just as uninspired, with players only able to perform a handful of clumsy punches and strikes, plus a single so-called "power move" that does little to improve the experience. The game quickly devolves into button-mashing with little room for strategy or skill.
To make matters worse, the outcome of fights feels almost entirely random. If you manage to strike your opponent first, you stand a decent chance of wearing him down and escaping the cage for a win. But if he lands the first blow, you’re more often than not doomed, as the mechanics make it nearly impossible to recover. This complete lack of balance turns every match into a frustrating guessing game rather than a contest of skill. The presentation is just as miserable. The graphics are blocky and poorly defined, with character sprites that often suffer from glitches. Some animations look downright broken, as if the game wasn’t even properly finished before being released. The sound design is just as grating, with repetitive, uninspired music and sound effects that amount to little more than bursts of unpleasant noise.
Critics at the time did not hold back. A review from the Mastertronic Collectors Archive gave "Cage Match" an abysmal 0.5 out of 10, citing the repetitive fights, unplayable controls, and the outright lack of any meaningful gameplay progression. The reviewer went as far as to question how the game ever passed quality control, calling it a perfect example of how not to design a wrestling game. The game’s legacy is one of pure disappointment, standing as a reminder of how rushed, low-effort releases plagued the budget gaming market of the time.
In short, Cage Match is an insult to wrestling games. It’s a clunky, repetitive mess that fails on every level, from gameplay to controls to presentation. While the C64 had its fair share of bad games, this one sits comfortably among the worst. It serves no purpose other than reminding players just how unpolished and unenjoyable a video game can be.

"On this day I get to go on my first solo hunt. I'm so scared, I want to do good to appease my family but they say I'm different that something is gonna happen to me on that hunt, that I shouldn't be going. Oh well what do they know. I'll show them what a total badass I am and they will see who the best hunter truly is... though my father is threatening to disown me if I don't complete the hunt so best to get started..."
That was your journal entry this morning. But I don't understand why they wont tell me what I'm hunting.
You were in college but your father pulled you out to go into the family business. But little did you know that this hunt would lead to the biggest change of your life.
So anyway, let's prepare for everything:
Clothing, shoes, food, bait, holy water, salt, silver, iron, pistol, silver stakes, wooden stakes, salt round, iron rounds, devils trap bullets, bow and arrows, chalk, lighters, shotgun, silver bullets, dead man's blood, etc....
Once you had everything sorted and organized you went down to be seen off by your family.
Mom: take care of your self and trust your gut I love you no matter what.
Brother #1: don't choke
Brother #2: don't die
Brother #3: give up now and save us all the trouble later
Brother #4: it's a piece of cake don't panic just do what you were taught and we will see you when you come back.
Father: don't bother coming back if you loose the target, fail and your no longer apart of this family. Your mother packed a few things in the car. Take it and go your instructions are in the car.
You hold your head up high and walk away not showing that he hurt your feelings. Getting into the car you wave goodbye to everyone.
Yn(to self): oh my God okay let's pull over up ahead and check out the information
You pull over up ahead in a random parking lot in front of a random abandoned building. It looked creepy as fuck seemed like the type of place that something supernatural might hangout in...
But opening the instruction package you sort it out, photos and information written out but you had no idea that this thing your father wanted you to bring back the head of was gonna be your greatest challenge.
Yn(to self): okay so if I head up the highway here make a left into town here and find a motel and then I can hangout till the moon starts to rise...
You have your plan and now you continue driving... you follow the GPS in your car and arrive in about 3 hours give or take.
You pull into the first motel you could find, you go to check in and find that there are no more rooms available. The last guy who took the last room now approaches you from the back...
John: sorry I took the last room.
Yn: its fine I guess I'll just sleep in my car
John: a pretty lady such as yourself ain't sleeping in the car. No way not in this lifetime.
You sigh and feel his hand engulf your own.
Yn: thank you but you really don't have to do this
John: oh I think I do... cause you and I are after the same thing hunter...
You stop in your dead tracks.
Yn: why did you
John: what you didn't think I'd recognize that anti possession tattoo on your arm.
Yn: I guess you expect me to trust you well sorry but if I don't do this on my own my family is basically disowning me... it's a tradition thing and I have 4 older brothers to live up to and my dad pulled me our of college for this legacy thing so it's kinda a big deal.
John's eyes widened with a variety of shock.
John: well if this hunt fails you can come on the road with me... what are the specifications for your father as proof
Yn: bring back its head or don't bother coming home
John: what if you get injured
Yn: I don't know but I'm gonna assume he'd call that a failure too
John scoffs and unlocks the room door and helps you bring your stuff into the room.
John: well lets unpack and prep... I guess we will see what happens.
You do just that you put your clothes in the dresser drawers, you set up the room with darkening blinds over the blinds already existing.
John: woah sweetheart you don't need to be so thorough
Yn: yes I do its how I was raised, my father always said that it's always better to put down too many protections than too little
john looks at you with wide eyes and an expression of what could only be described as concern mixed with some form of admiration.
you on the other hand were now cleaning and loading ammo into your guns. he watched you doing this and he found himself being more subtly attracted to you.
john: so your father pulled you out of school for this, was it against your will or
yn: your first guess is correct he was horrible about it he literally grabbed me out of my english lit class like a nieanderthal and disrupted every single person in there and knocked my english professor down the stairs in his efforts to drag me by my hair very unpleasantly and forcefully out of there to the car hog tie me and drive my ass back home where he then locked me in my room for 4 days before sending my mother in to explain everything to me why I was dragged out of school and basically having my life disrupted. Like I explained to my parents I want to be normal I want to live a normal life. I don't want to be in this life. But here I am and I am gonna need something to keep me busy if I get exiled from the family.
John now sitting across from you on one of the chairs with an ice cold beer in his hand now paying full attention to your story...
John: wow, your father sounds like a giant pain in the ass
Yn: believe me your not the first person to say that but I also feel like something is off about this entire thing.
John: here's a crazy thought I will go with you to deliver the head of this beast to your father saying you got injured and I was on the same hunt I helped you stay alive to behead it yourself then I gave you a ride home.
You smile lightly at his words now realizing your starting to develop feelings for this man.
Yn: by the way I am very curious to know how old you are my good sir
John had to think about it he knew this could go badly but he didn't care.
John: 40 but in my defense I have 2 sons who are my entire world
Yn: funny you don't look 40 but I can't help feel attracted to you for some reason
John locked eyes with you at that moment for he felt it as well.
John: how bout we prepare for this hunt and then we discuss this further later
Yn: or I could just act...
You get up and straddle John's lap meeting his lips with your own. To his surprise of course but he let go of his impulse at that moment.
You broke the kiss about 15 minutes later when his gun falls off the table.
Yn: I think we should prepare to leave.
John: nah its still a good number of hours before sundown and besides this werewolf is gonna be a piece of cake.
Yn: what if my dad banishes me anyway
John: why do you think he would
Yn: cause he is a egotistical dick and he perceives "getting help" as a failure to do the hunt correctly. He perceives "getting injured" as a invieniance and a failure. He thinks relationships interfere with your ability to focus on the task at hand.
You lean your forehead against John's as he breathes meshing his breathing with your own.
John: well if he doesn't like how this hunt turns out then he can suck it and we will load up your stuff and you can come live with me.
Yn: thank you baby I love you john
You say not even thinking about it. Then it hits you on what you just said a few moments later. You begin searching John's facials for any sign of negative response to your words.
John: I love you too YN! And I know that this won't make up for it but it will be most beneficial to everything going forward.
Yn: I know but I want to actually relax a bit before we head out on this hunt and now I know I don't have to do it alone. Cause I'm not alone I have you!
John: shall we lay down for a bit so we can rest up as its still a few hours to sundown.
Yn: I like that idea. The guns are loaded and cleaned anyway
John takes you up bridal style to the bed, he sets you down and takes off his shoes before crawling in beside you.
John: I know this seems a little quick but I promise you this will be our relationship this is our time and our lives. Damn anyone else who doesn't like this.
Yn: but What if...
John: if I fall in hunt, everything I own will now be your own.
You looked at him with admiration in your eyes.
Yn: but John we
John: I've never been more sure of anything in my life. And I'll be darned if I let anything or anyone tear us apart. Now rest my love I'll wake you up when it's time to head out.
You settle in against John's chest falling asleep as you are lulled by the sound of his heartbeat.
John(to self): oh my god, this girl is incredible but has had to deal with so much trauma for one so young. It's heartbreaking I swear on my life I'll do everything in my power to break her away from it...
You struggle internally as you are externally resting against your man's chest in a cozy little hotel room.
After about almost 2 hours of rest you wake startled from a horrific nightmare of substantial proportions.
John: woah sweetheart it's okay... you're safe nice deep breaths.
You just clutch John's chest in fear for what you saw made you scared beyond belief.
John: what's got you so scared
Yn: I have to tell you something, about a month before my dad burst into my school and pulled me out I saw it like I dreamt it before it happened.
John: you have visions?
Yn: yes and it's so annoying sometimes cause ever since the day before my 11th grade mid term exams I've had visions whenever something major is about to change my life.
John: and did you see this moment.
You nod and smile
Yn: about a week ago. So yes I was kinda expecting this but I didn't see dates or times or anything so I didn't know when this would occur
John: my my my you really are a smart lady!
Yn: and you are a very lucky man!
John: now will you tell me what got you spooked.
You breathed in deeply and felt your heart rate slow a bit...
Yn: I saw the outcome of the hunt. I apparently get injured to the point where I'm almost killed. John, i dont know if this is gonna go in our favor...
John: have faith baby and if you do get injured we will still killthe beast and bring the head home to your father then i will announce my intent to marry you properly... in a years time...
Yn: but you havent proposed
John: and i will or maybe we will just go to vegas on the way back after the hunt and get hitched there before we go back to your father tell him you got drunk after the hunt and i wanted to be a gentleman and not take you without marriage first
You place a kiss to his hand as you snugle in closer.
Yn: thank you baby
john: your welcome now lets get ready to go, its a bit of a drive before we get to where these wolves are
Yn: wolves I thought we only had to find the alpha?
John looks at you for a moment and tosses you an extra box of silver bullets.
John: there will be a pack with the alpha which is why I gave you an extra set of silver rounds
Yn: but What about my vision
John: I swear on my life we will get through this and stop down in Vegas and get married before we get back to your folks to drop off the head to your father
You look at him with tears of joy threatening to spill from your eyes.
Yn: well then I accept and for everything I am I won't let my family stop me from being happy.
John: besides its your life not theirs and your not a child anymore I see a beautiful smart confident woman one I get to spend the rest of my life with.
You put your handheld in your holster as you have now just strapped on your holster and straightened up your shirt and strapped on your ballistic vest
John: why a ballistic vest
Yn: cause I loose way to many shirts by not wearing one. It always depends on what I'm hunting.
John: I guess it also is easy to carry extra bullets too.
Yn: exactly. Now let's get ready
In moments you were loaded John had his bag of weapons and you both were loaded into John's car and on the highway in moments.
John: alright sweetheart you and I have a few things that we need to do number 1 we need to stick together and if we get seperated we stay in ear and eye shot
Yn: number 2 we knock these wolves off their asses and are in Vegas by tomorrow afternoon to be married
john: so you hve it all figured out do you?
yn: yep and we will live our lives for as long as they may last!
john: i say lets get there first and then kick their asses
john continues to drive and you realize that there is a huge chance that your father will disown you anyway and you dont care
john after about an hour of driving stops after he catches something out of the corner of his eye
yn: why are we stopping?
john: cause we are being followed!
yn: by what
john pulls out his handheld and checks the chamber, you also check your handheld and load a few more into the chamber
john: im pretty sure its the target and we are going to fool this thing into thinking its won, and when it gets close enough we will be able to hopefully kill it and be in vegas by tomorrow morning!
Yn: I love this idea and I love the man who came up with it now let's kill this thing so we can get married
John left the car running as you both slowly got out of the car, his eyes went wide at the sight of a large werewolf chowing down on a deer.
Yn: oh my god
John puts a hand on your arm which halts you as it turns to look at you...
John: no sudden movements maybe it won't attack us
Yn: John are you crazy, we are just making it easy for this thing to kill us
John: relax baby girl, it's gonna be just fine
You watch the werewolf now stand on its hind legs and begin to stalk towards you and John...
Yn: I yn take you John as my husband now and forever more as long as we both shall live everything I am/have is now yours
John now realizing what you have just said smiles as the wolf stalks now in striking distance of you and John making his final approach...
John: I John take you YN as my wife now and forever more as long as we both shall live everything I am/have is now yours
John now locks hands with you as he pulls you to stand behind him as he shoots the werewolf with 3 silver bullets one in his arm, one in his leg and one in his back...
John: lets take this one down for good
Yn: and then we go back to the hotel so I can clean out my car and we can make those vows legal
You were now holding your machete as John held your hand to slowly approach and be ready for anything...
John: careful it might still retaliate.
You were ready but first swing it shoved you back and you hit the ground landing on your arm.
You screamed in pain as it shot right up your arm and into your muscles...
John: that's my fiance you beast, now feel my wrath
That's when John shot the beast straight in-between it's eyes it howled as it fell backward dead
John was at your side in seconds
John: how bad does it hurt baby
Yn: my arm John I think it's broken...
John: well lets go clean out your car but first let's put your arm in a make shift sling so we can clean out your car and get to the hospital asap
John then removed his shirt, tore it into long strands
Yn: John you didn't have to use your shirt
John: it's all good baby girl you are way more important than my shirt let's get your arm slings then I will help steady you enough for you to chop off this beasts head
John helps you to stand up and helps you cut off the beasts head. of which John takes and throws it toward the car.
You feel John remove your ballistic vest and gently take your broken arm placing one piece of us torn shirt under neath it and tying it around your neck.
John: lets stand you up so I can tie this second strand around your slinged arm
John grabs your good hand and helps you to stand up, once your on your feet John ties the second piece of his torn shirt around your slinged arm securing it around your waist to ensure that your arm doesn't move
John: alright babe, let's get to the car...
John made sure to grab the equipment putting them in the car before making sure your in the car safe and sound before getting in himself.
John: how does it feel baby
Yn: ugh I can't believe I got hurt... my father is gonna consider this a failure doesn't matter what happens
John: so just cause you got hurt he will still consider this a failure even though you still bring back the head.
Yn: yes he will
John: no offense babe but your father sounds like a great big bag of dicks
You wince slightly as John turns the corner
John: sorry babe
Yn: its okay let's just go get packed up and check out so we can go to the hospital as soon as possible
You sat there and didn't even notice as John stopped at the motel and started unloading the room and your car of all the stuff and then he went to give the key back to the lady at the desk.
John came back a while later and handed you a flask which he opened and you chugged the entire thing.
John: better?
Yn: much now let's go to the hospital my arm hurts like a mother fucker
John laughed as he pulled out of the parking lot and away from the motel
Yn: you really tied down my arm, where...?
John: did I learn that, I was in the military years ago... I am just glad that my skills come in handy.
John smiled hanging his arm around your form as gentle as possible as he drove within reason to the hospital.
Once there he got out helping you slide out and walk up to the door and upon seeing the shape and state of you and John the nurses ushered you both into an examination area and began to treat the wounds...
Nurse: sir did you make this sling?
John: yes I did
Nurse: let me guess military?
John: good guess! It's broken I'm pretty sure anyway we were hiking and she slipped and fell I got hurt sliding down the hill to help her.
Nurse: well your efforts are indeed helpful cause if left out of a sling her arm could have been much worse now ill bring in the doctor and the x ray machine and we will have you both out of here in no time.
As the nurse left the exam room you felt John's hand engulf your own.
John: at least the hunt is done and we can take the head back to your father after the wedding tomorrow.
Yn: he's gonna probably grill the living hell out of you
John: and I'll dish back to him what he dishes to me, cause nothing is gonna stop me living the rest of my life with you
You smile leaning your head on John's hand as he brought it up to caress your cheek.
Yn: I love you too
That's ofcourse when the doctor and the nurse entered the room with a cart and a machine and such stuff.
Doc: my name is dr. Steven, I am going to be patching up yn and I understand you 2 are to be married congratulations! Now yn I know it's painful for you to do this but I need you to put your arm on the x ray bed for me so we can take a clear x ray of your broken arm.
With John's hand engulfing your good one, you loosened up a bit to allow the doc to take your arm and place it on the x ray bed.
Yn: damn it this hurts..
Dr: just a few more seconds yn your doing great
You squeezed John's hand with your good one and felt nothing but love from him.
Steven: alright x ray is all done while those results are coming in we will get you casted and slinged up
Yn: it hurts so much, John we are never going hiking again
John laughs and puts his arm round your waist
John: well not anytime soon anyway and certainly not on a steep hill.
Yn: can we just find someone closer than driving to Vegas to be wed
That's when the nurse spoke up and her words shocked you both
Nurse: well I can probably provide a solution to your not wanting to sit in a car for hours to vegas
Yn: what do you mean
Nurse: im a marriage commissioner means I can marry people, I always have a variety of wedding bands on my person just in case the occasion needs for it
You look at John who just smiles
John: that's very generous of you miss but why would
Nurse: cause I know young love when I see it besides I can't make my own life any better than by helping 2 people who walk into hospital to not have to drive over to Vegas. To introduce myself properly my name is Sheila
Yn: its a pleasure thank you so much
Sheila: no problem now dr Steven should take your fiance to do the paper work while I get you casted and slinged.
You lean into John's kiss to your forehead and watched as he and Dr Steven left the room
Sheila: okay let's get you into a fun cast
Yn: fun?
Sheila: okay so do you want rainbow, or some sort of color combo or you want to be surprised.
You look toward the door and smile
Yn: rainbow, I want rainbow it will make the best out of my sitchuation being to the fact that I probably won't be celebrating my wedding night properly till my arm is healed.
Sheila: just a few weeks but what will you and John
Yn: I'm sure we will come up with something.
*after the casting and slinging and paperwork, you and John stood up in the little hospital chapel in front of Sheila and prepared your vows to the respects along the lines of what you said on the road.*
Sheila: alright say what you both feel
You take John's hand with your good one and smile
Yn: John I always knew I was destined for something greater than just getting a bachelor's and whatever else but what I never expected is to find myself completely and totally in love with you. I can't see myself living any part of my life without you by my side so today I vow to love you with all i am, honor every single choice and decision you make even if it concerns me not, cherish every single precious day with you and to live every day one step at a time with you for us and all we do, always and forever
You fiddle with John's band while he wipes his eye a bit and clears his throat.
John: yn, I never ever thought I'd be at the alter again, not in a million years did I ever see this happening but here I am with the most wonderful amazing woman I've ever seen. You face adversity with a smile and that makes me happy so today I vow to love you with all I am, protect you with everything in my being, respect you and all your choices even if they do not concern me, cherish every single day with you and to live every day with you like it's our last for now always and forever.
Sheila: I now under the blessing of the church pronounce you both husband and wife. you may now kiss the bride
John takes you by the waist and kisses you ferociously
Sheila: alright so here's the paperwork and once you both sign it I will send this off to the state office and your marriage certificate will be sent to an address of your choosing.
John: I have the perfect place.
John writes down the address to send it too and signs his name right above yours.
John: well shall we go wife
Yn: we shall husband. We have a bit of a drive to see my folks
Sheila: didn't tell them did you?
You shake your head
Yn: no they kinda parted from me on a odd terms along with my parents we are also gonna see my 4 brothers.
Sheila: older or younger?
Yn: 3 older the 4th one is my twin
John looks at you and then you realize that you hadn't mentioned that
John: twin huh?
Yn: yes I'm sorry I didn't tell you
John: it's alright
Then he extends his hand to Sheila and Dr Steven both who accept it with smiles.
John: thank you both for everything
Sheila: no problem
Dr Steven: our pleasure and congratulations on the nuptuals. You both are lucky to have eachother.
Yn: thank you Dr Steven, Sheila, I wouldn't be on my way to healing fully if not for you guys.
With smiles and pleasantries exchanged you and John walked out of the hospital and to the car, John helped you get in before going round to get in himself.
John: come on snuggle up ill drive us to just outside your hometown and I'll wake you when we get there or if we have to stop ill wake you.
Yn: sounds good to me, john
John looks at you
Yn: I love you and I know whatever happens I'm in good hands.
John: just rest wife, we will need all our strength to face your family
John said calmly as his hand held your good one and you snuggled against his side and soon your soft snores filled the car, as John drove to just inside your home town.
John pulled over and placed a kiss to your forehead
John: hey babe we are in your town. Shall you tell me where we are going?
You pull up your phones GPS and set it as you straighten out and kinda adjust your hair.
John: just stop you look beautiful
Yn: thanks babe but my dad expects perfection
John: thats horrible. want me to straighten him up
yn: its fine babe, just follow the road and my gps will tell you when to turn.
john held your hand as he continued down the road and about 15 more minutes of driving later you saw the sign and the gate... you ushered for john to stop in front of the gate and you went to press the call button in your access tones.
about seconds later the gate opened. you watched as john drove inside. the party to greet you in the driveway was your brothers your mother and your father.
you watch as john gets out first and grabs the head in the box placing it on the ground in front of your family before coming to help you out of the car.
your twin brother comes up and immediately hugs you gently and warmly.
Greg: welcome home sister
yn: thanks bro, this man is my husband John, john this is my twin brother Greg!
they shake hands and then greg looks at the head in the box.
greg: congratulations sis you did good, in my eyes anyway!
thats when you hear the sound of your father clearing his throat, you back away from your twin and go stand directly against johns form his hand on your shoulder the wedding bands fully visible and shining in the sunlight.
father: what the fuck is this?
yn: the box has the head in it, i got injured and john who is also a hunter was nice enough to help. the car you guys sent me off in was destroyed, my arm is broken and yes father john and i got married. i forsaw this.
your father now with an angry epression on his features takes the final steps toward you, but when he saw you not moving he pulled his firearm.
yn: dad what are you doing
father: he isnt good enough for my little princess.
yn: dad i havent been your little princess since you gave me my first firearm. dont assume that im still that same little girl, cause im not and for the record i know what you did to Marleen.
he drops his gaze for a moment and then tranqs it back to you.
father: you know about her?
yn: mom showed me a photo of her holding me and greg as babies, how dare you kill my sister just cause she got married
your father was shocked when he realized that you now held your firearm toward him.
john: if i may sir, i asked your daughter, she said yes, it was during the time i was saving her, no one knows how long we have and it should count that i saved your daughters life.
your father takes one step toward john but is stopped by my mother getting in the way.
derek: get out of the way suzie
suzanna: no derek look at the chaos you always bring whenever our children return and we cant blame our daughter for trying to be happy. i gave you a chance years ago to turn your life around get help, seek anger managment and yet you continue to be a fucking dumbass.
derek: what did you say?
yn: its true you need to back the fuck off, john and i drove all through the night after being in the hospital for several hours, we need to rest. greg can you take the bags to the guest house and grab the padlock. i dont want to be disturbed with john as we stay there.
john: give me the gun yn
you hand John the gun as John now scoops you into his arms and then faces your father in a stare down
John: look sir I don't give a crap how you run things but you are through giving my wife orders. She took my last name, im her husband, end of story. And what's more I'll progress her training further than ever before anyone who wants to join us can but right now my wife and I need sleep.
Suzanna: welcome to family John, it's good to meet you Greg help your brother in law move him and your sister into the guest house and fortify it so your father can't enter.
Greg: gladly mom...
*after Greg helped you and John get settled he left you both alone. You sat in the chair and looked at the door ad if expecting someone to barge through it... but soon John had you eating a meal he made and he had you getting all cozy for a days rest and relaxation*
Laying in the bed was not comfortable so John unfolded the futon and made you smile.
Yn: what's the plan here babe
John: well I figure I can sleep sitting up enough that you can use me as a bed and the futon is the best place for that.
Yn: but what
John: your twin left a few body pillows and things of such nature to try and make things more comfortable for you while you recover, he will come by in the morning to see how we are doing.
You lean up to kiss John as he smiles through the kiss.
Yn: thanks babe, I can't wait till I'm healed so we can go on a proper honeymoon!
John: well it's our legacy now we can do whatever we want! And till your injured I'm at your service.
That began a very vigorous makeout session. Which led into sleeping comfortably and in complete bliss.
~to be continued~

The Psychology of Board Games: Why We Love Ludo and Beyond
Tumblr media
Board games have been a cornerstone of leisure and entertainment across various cultures for centuries. They not only serve as a means of fun but also engage players in ways that few other activities can. This article delves into the psychology behind the enduring appeal of board games, with a special focus on the classic game of Ludo. As we explore this fascinating topic, we will discover why games like Ludo continue to captivate and entertain players of all ages.
Board Game Fascination
The allure of board games transcends age, culture, and geography. From ancient times to modern-day Ludo apps that allow friends to play online on platforms like Zupee, the basic human connection facilitated through these games remains strong. Social and psychological factors play significant roles in their widespread appeal. These games often require cooperation, strategy, and a bit of competition, ingredients that are inherently compelling to the human psyche.
Understanding Ludo
Ludo, derived from the ancient Indian game Pachisi, has a rich history. Introduced to Britain in the late 19th century, it quickly became a household favorite. Today, Ludo apps make it easy for anyone to download the game and start playing with friends online, continuing its legacy. The simplicity and the random luck component of Ludo, combined with strategic decision-making, offer a balanced challenge that appeals to both young and older players alike.
The Psychological Pull
What makes board games like Ludo so engaging? Psychological aspects such as the thrill of the chase in capturing an opponent's token and the suspense of dice rolls dramatically enhance the engagement. Moreover, strategic thinking and planning ahead can give players a sense of control and accomplishment.
Nostalgia and Comfort
For many, board games like Ludo are woven into their childhood memories. Playing these games can evoke a comforting sense of nostalgia, transporting adults back to their youth and simpler times. This connection to pleasant past experiences is a powerful reason why many continue to reach for board games as their preferred form of entertainment.
Social Connection
One of the most significant aspects of playing board games is the social interaction they entail. Whether you're gathering around a physical game board or connecting via a Ludo app, the game acts as a medium for socialization, fostering bonds and enhancing relationships. The cooperative and competitive elements of these games can also serve as ice-breakers in various social settings.
Cognitive Benefits
Board games like Ludo are not just about fun; they also offer numerous cognitive benefits. Engaging in these games can improve critical thinking, boost problem-solving skills, and enhance memory. Regularly playing board games can help keep the mind sharp and agile, which is especially beneficial as one ages. You can also play ludo with friends online on platforms like Zupee & win real cash.
Emotional Engagement
The emotional highs and lows experienced during gameplay are integral to the board gaming experience. The suspense of uncertainty, the excitement of a risky move paying off, and even the disappointment of a loss are all emotionally engaging. These experiences can help players learn resilience and emotional control.
Beyond Ludo
While Ludo has its unique appeal, the world of board games is rich with variety. From strategy-heavy games like Chess and Go to modern classics like Catan and Ticket to Ride, the psychological draws of these games are as diverse as their gameplay mechanics. Each game offers a different way to challenge the mind, engage emotionally, and connect with others.
Board games like Ludo offer more than just entertainment. They provide intellectual stimulation, emotional catharsis, and a bridge to connect with others, making them a beloved pastime for many. As we explore the psychology of our favorite games, we gain insights into why these games continue to play a significant role in our lives. Whether through traditional boards or digital downloads like those on Zupee, the magic of board games endures, promising continued enjoyment and discovery for players around the world.

So I started playing the sim4 again cause I wanted to do my own legacy that slowly go through the occults each generation. So the first gen of babies are human. it second gen that should be an occult that u can become. its just something I'm doing for myself and making notes along the way cause there gonna be requirements for each generation and skills that need to be maxed out and aspirations for them. eventually it will cycle through back to human at some point lol. Just something to keep me playing one family for a long while and not get bored I guess.
I'm not doing things like plant sims or skeleton cause tho aren't permanent, only the canonical occults I guess. Making it for a challenge for myself. Like one person in the family has to be famous and one person in the family at some point has to be immortal. and someone has to become a criminal. it doesn't have to be an heir but y requirements for myself it 2-3 kids per gen and a pet per gen too. Unless the previous pet hasn't died first but u can have more than one pet but there must always be a pet. I randomized her traits but her aspirations has to be one of the family ones. Also it's rags to riches. which I got down. I also have a good tier 3 house from the painting and piano. Cause somehow my sim was playing a piano in a nightclub and someone happen to be there to mentor her. And I somehow got 4000 bucks from a ghost person. and was able to have a tiny hoe and master my painting first. So she makes a lot from paintings and she famous so when she performs on the piano ppl give her money.
It the first sim I was able to get her to maintain friendships with ppl and it cause of the social bunny. and she also has a romantic interest but I wanted to build the house first with everything I wanted before I started cause i have started. or at least I good shell cause placements of stairs also make things hard for me. but I think the it came out well and I like how I did the roofing to it .
then a good friend of her's died and I couldn't find the grave even tho it was on the plat she live on I just didnt see the stone lol. now she has this denial grief which is annoying and idk how to get rid of it. (Edit: after some gameplay cause this was a draft I managed to get rid of it lol )
these are some pics of the house, one I get much more money and after sometimes I probably post more pics of the house and do landscaping. but thats it basically

hi there! sooo.. digging up nathan to enter him in a BC had me looking back at my River of Life stuff and it reminded me why i loved those little pixels. i hadn't actually touched that save for about 3 years, and my mod folder has completely changed since then, but it still works okay and i found my old notes..
so, basically, what i'm saying, is i have new posts of my old random legacy and i'm going to start posting them again!
while i build up new posts though, i'm going to reblog the old stuff first because, again, its been about 3 years.
so here's the plan (hoping i stick to it):
old River of Life reposts while i build up a queue of new ones
new River of Life posts to finish Gen 1
finish Mt Komorebi chapter of my globetrotter challenge
??? gen 2?? Benny's Sulani adventure? who knows, not me

"You don't have any fond memories left of being here at all?" She had mostly stayed out of what had torn her parents apart, more preoccupied with her own emotions of things. There were some memories of her parents strained relationship looking back, but a lot of that had been kept from them until the divorce and what she did see was difficult for her to fully comprehend the weight of as a young teenager. A large part of Vivian still yearned for the days of before, even though she wouldn't admit it. She had alienated herself from her mom, and even moreso her siblings. While she tried to put on the facade that it didn't bother her and tell herself that it was better to not be close to a lot of people after her stark reminder of how fragile life was, most of her time was spent making sure that her mind was preoccupied from the hollow loneliness her decisions left her with.
"I want to make him proud of me... and let his company be a legacy rather than handed off to someone random when he's ready to step down." Being the boss's daughter had come with its own challenges, but she had pretty thick skin and didn't let what the old grumpy men in the oil industry, or even within the company said about her.
Her mom's words insinuating that she was basically on an extended bring your daughter to work day, however, did sting a bit. "I'm learning a lot from him. I even attended the oil summit last month in his place." While she didn't yet have a flashy title, she knew someone getting demoted for her to step in their place would only make the assumptions about her worse.
Tumblr media
"A little bit of both, but mainly your father's house." Amanda wasn't about to allow Weston to completely ruin an entire city for her, but certain places definitely felt tainted after their acrimonious divorce. As far as the house they'd once lived in together went, she couldn't wait to get as far away from it as possible, which had eventually led her to Dallas. She was still in the state of Texas, but that was just because as much as she might have despised her ex-husband, their children still loved and adored him for whatever reason, and forcing them to move far enough away to where they needed to board a plane to visit him just didn't seem fair. An award for Mother of the Year might not have been in the cards for her, but one thing was for certain. She cared about her three kids more than anything else in the world, even if she didn’t exactly have the best way of showing it sometimes.
"You're really enjoying this whole following in his footsteps thing, aren't you?" While Amanda had never bothered to pay enough attention to the ins and outs of Weston's business ventures, and despite the fact that she and Vivian hadn't been close in a long while, she could still tell when her daughter was truly invested in and passionate about something.
"Tell me something, though. Has he given you an actual role in the company yet, or are you basically just a glorified secretary with the perk of being the boss' daughter?"

can we talk about how rauru is literally like. just zelda’s dad. like in that one scene where zelda looks like she’s gravely contemplating turning into a dragon and then rauru goes “i believe the answer lies in more research and understanding your power!” and she looks at him with such shock and awe. zelda’s adventures in the past are literally like her life but with a better dad. the queen promises her to help her figure out her power but dies before they can figure out a way how to use that power to safely save everyone. zelda desperately wants to help everyone and is clearly feeling the pressure of it all and the king is the one to tell her “hey i understand how hard you’re trying and how much you want to save everyone and we’re thankful for what you’re doing”. rauru actually acknowledges zelda’s dedication and the importance of research and technology, he is kind to her and never blames her for any of the bad things happening. he also never pushes zelda to make sacrifices and is the one sacrificing himself in the end - in botw, all the champions and zelda have to choose to make sacrifices to save the kingdom, but in totk rauru doesn’t ask that of any of the sages, instead recognizing his own responsibility as king and basically dying to save his kingdom. he’s literally zelda’s better dad.
same anon as the one raving about rauru also the differences between how the two kings treat link. they’re both tutorial figures but the way they guide is SO different. pretty much the first thing rhoam does is lie and pretend to be a random old man, being quite annoying as he sends link to do a bunch of challenges for a paraglider. the framing is so fundamentally different, rauru freely offers the information he has to link upfront, he apologises for the body modification, acknowledging link’s potential distress. rhoam basically keeps link on the plateau arbitrarily, presenting giving items and teaching link about things as challenges for link to overcome. rauru on the other hand aids link as best he can, tells him what he needs to do from the beginning (tells him to open the door which is pretty much the last thing he’ll need to do in the tutorial, telling him about the ultimate goal from the beginning), proposes solutions when it doesn’t work out (directs him to the shrines as a way to help him gain the strength he needs, as opposed to making him complete challenges to get a paraglider that in the moment seems like literally arbitrary conditions). rhoam telling link how much responsibility and pressure he has on him all of a sudden and how much he needs to do vs rauru telling link that it was wonderful to meet him and zelda’s accounts of him were all true. like. the framing. the difference in character. the deterioration of knowledge within hyrule falls parallel to the deterioration of its king’s kindness and virtue.
the differences between rauru and roham are crazy to me because one of them was so fundamentally good and one was so fundamentally flawed and yet. neither of them were able to save their kingdom. no matter how good a king of hyrule is, no matter what he gets right or wrong, he is still doomed to die. rhoam tried to sacrifice his daughter to keep hyrule alive. rauru did everything in his power to make sure she DIDNT have to be sacrificed. and in the end the outcome was the same. but the KINGS were not the same, and that difference in framing you mentioned i think is fundamentally a difference in legacy. rhoams legacy is to forever be the king who sacrificed children to save himself and died anyway. rhoam died a loser through and through, a king atop a throne of nothing but failure. i think that’s partially why he appears as an old man at first, because he KNOWS what being the king of hyrule means and he’s EMBARRASSED that his legacy is what it is. but rauru. in complete contrast, rauru was so GOOD. rauru died with his sages and his DAUGHTER alive to see another day. rauru ENSURED they’d live no matter what. he wouldn’t LET them sacrifice themselves for him. rauru put everyone else before himself. he didn’t expect or even tolerate self-sacrifice and yet when the time came he sacrificed HIMSELF selflessly despite knowing that it wouldn’t even WORK. rauru’s legacy is something to be proud of. he’s open to link because he has nothing TO hide. no regrets or stupid decisions. and he is remembered so much more favorably because of it.

Your thoughts on the Sims 1-4
Guess I’m in the mood to do these. Grabbing a tag from @mosneakers.
Sims 1: The big thing I remember about this game is that it could take your sim hours to cross from one end of the house to the other. Thus, if the sim got up at the normal one-hour-before-work, they often wouldn’t have time to both pee and eat. I got obsessed with designing and efficient house, with the kitchen right outside the bedroom door, so that my sims could get to work with the best mood.
Then I let the garden go bad, and it would destroy my sims’ mood on the way to the carpool, and it took me forever to figure out what was going on :-D
Sim 2: I remember being thrilled by how much easier it was for sims to get around their house. The introduction of lifespans intrigued me. However, I hadn’t really figured out what I wanted to DO with this sandbox game yet. Playing Sims gets boring if you don’t have some kind of a goal. I’d never heard of a generational challenge, much less rotational gameplay, and I hadn’t plugged into the fan community yet.
I did dabble in mods -- mostly the mod to drastically increase the chance of a sim being abducted when using the telescope so I could make alien babies. I built a household from two CAS-built sisters who were of different races. One of them married a man, and the other a woman, and then I got frustrated that the lesbian couple couldn’t make babies. They adopted, but I was annoyed by how genetically boring their adopted son was. Then I got obsessed with trying to get one of the lesbians to cheat on her spouse to make a baby without being discovered. Where is artificial insemination when you need it?
Later, I created a new sim who married into the Broke family. I got bored and tried to starve Dustin to death to make a ghost. when I removed the door to his bedroom and his needs got very low, he got down on his knees to beg the Watcher for his life. I felt so guilty that I actually turned off the game and never went back!
Sims 3:  This is where it happened for me. Open world and a town that aged with my active household just better matches the way I imagine playing. I even figured out generational play, at least somewhat, before really plugging into the fan community.
I didn’t realize until reading @mosneakers and @natolesims‘s memes that there was so much hate floating around for Sims 3 art style! I admit that I do dislike the child faces. I thought Sims 2 faces were too long and thin. Sims 3 faces seem to have overcompensated by being just a bit too round. Otherwise, I’m quite sure I don’t know what you guys are talking about. LOL.
I don’t think I’d still be playing if it weren’t for NRaas, though. Sims 3′s open world was pretty ambitious, and their data management was totally not up to the task. I spent years offering tech support on people’s blogs when they started to suffer data corruption in generation 2 or 3. You just can’t play without at least minimal mods to clean up save files. It’s unintuitive that a modded game is more stable than vanilla, but it’s just true. Sad, but true.
Sims 4: I have played this very little, not because I hate it but because I am stubbornly determined to finish my 10-generation legacy. A lot of folks just rebuilt their household in Sims 4 and continued to play. At the time Sims 4 came out, I was playing supernatural-heavy games with custom skintones, so I’d lose almost everything if I ported them over. It also turns out that it’s hard to face going from a heavily-modded, 11-expansion experience to a game with base or just one expansion. I have a lot more sympathy for Sims 2 players who skipped Sims 3 entirely.
I have a hard time facing the color presets and closed world, but the game in its current state really seems to have done great things with gameplay. If/when I get the Samples done, I’ll take a look at making the switch. Of course, by then Sims 5 will likely be out, so maybe I’ll skip....
What is your favorite Expansion pack
Generations and/or Seasons. But it’s really hard to choose.
Small pets or Horses?
I really,  really love Sims 3 horses. Since I’m modding pets, it can probably be guessed that I like the animals in general :).
What is your favorite active career?
Yes.
I have had a ton of fun with almost all active careers. If forced to choose, I might go for firefighter.
What is your favorite Lifetime Wish?
Buh. I really dug the Photography one I guess. I just like doing different ones.
Whims or Wants?
I’m sorry. I have no idea what this question even means (blush).
What is your favorite Occult?
I feel like all the occults in TS3 are kind of underdeveloped. That said, witches are pretty cool.
Cowplants, Bonehilda, or the Social Bunny?
Bonehilda
How do you pick your sims names?
I am absolutely OBSESSED with names. I’m sorry I only got to name one flesh-and-blood child, so I let it all out in naming my simmies. I get into the head of the parent(s) and come up with lists from whatever they would like. My saves are very gameplay-directed, and tend to randomize most traits, so I intentionally don’t build a sim to a name or try to make a sim’s name suit their personality at all. After all, when we name our children, we get no say over who they eventually become :).
Do you create a spouse for a sim, or do you go after a townie?
Townie! My gaming style is heavily gameplay-oriented. I want my sims to choose their partner using wishes and attraction and whatever else the game provides. However, I also am incredibly interested in genetic experimentation, so I do allow myself to change the physical appearance of some sims before making babies with them if they are too bland. I populated my Samples save from scratch, largely using downloaded simalikes of real people. I have NRaas set to use existing sims in the town or in my sim bin, to generate new ones. So basically I do my best to have the most interesting genetics pool I can so I don’t need to edit faces.
Do you prefer to follow storytelling Simblrs, or do your prefer gameplay Simblrs?
I’m not totally sure what this is asking either :-D. Are “storytelling” simblrs the ones that largely use the game as an artistic medium for screenshots using poses and whatnot? My play style is to play the game and build stories from it, so I’m not entirely sure what category I fall into myself.
I suppose it doesn’t matter because I follow both. I’m not terribly drawn to dressup challenges and lookbooks.
What year did you join Tumblr/Simblr?
I have absolutely no friggin idea. I tried to look back in my email archive to track notifications, and that failed. I came back after three years, so it has to be at least for years before I returned....?

Got any good longish casefic recs? Got a loooong trip and I need something to keep me occupied. Thank you so much!!
First of all, thank you for sending this ask! I love case-heavy stories and long fics, so that was an opportunity to re-discover some of my favorite stories. I am going to re-read half of the list now, as well!
Here we go - top ten recommendations for long(ish) case fics!
1) detective stories series by prismatical starting with bad signal (38K)
The rescue mission went well. Nightwing is safe. Everything should be alright.
Right?
It’s a really gripping story that will keep you on the edge of your seat till the end. Features all of Batfam with Dick as a focus but other boy Robins play significant part too.
2) For Those Who Can't  by  GoAwayOlivia (8K)
They don’t understand him at all. There is no setting him off, that’s not the way it works. And he doesn’t go on violent sprees. Jason kills when the situation demands. That’s it. Plain and simple. He doesn’t lose his temper and murder any asshole that pisses him off. Every kill is a decision that he makes, and every decision is carefully weighed and measured with a cool head. He only ever kills because the person deserves to die.
Red Hood!Jason conducts investigation into a sting of murders that happened on his territory. I have a lot of feelings about this story and I’m sure you will, too.
3)  Raisin Delight  by  LemonadeGarden (8K)
A year after Jason Todd dies, Tim Drake and Bruce Wayne take on the case when they notice strange occurrences in Gotham city. This has disastrous consequences, but so do most things that Tim gets caught up in, so what's new, really.
It’s not only a case fic but also a time travel fic which is, imo, a double treat! The ending is very powerful even if I expect you’re going to have mixed feelings about it.
4)  Little Wing and Big Bird by Airawyn (16K)
When Bruce attempts to murder Jason in his sleep, the young Robin goes to his predecessor for help. Nightwing and Robin must work together to find out what happened to the real Bruce Wayne.
Fic featuring Robin!Jason teaming up with Nightwing!Dick. The boys save Bruce and Alfred and have a heart-to-heart in the process. Superb.
5) Some fics from More to Being a Father than Having a Kid by Romiress:
We Don't Raise Heroes (70K), Don't Call It Revenge (58K), Legacy's Sway (107K)
While technically not a case fic but include a big mysteries that Batfam investigates so I think it counts. I highly recommend the whole series. First fics are gen!
6) The Bat's Crest by livierambles (200K+)
Tragedy strikes the hero community when Bruce Wayne commits a crime so heinous even the best start asking for blood. However, as the heroes try to recover from the hit and carry out justice for their friends, a random assortment of people start acting oddly, including the current Speedy Tim Drake, a child hostage in Gotham, and a young man from an unremarkable circus amongst others. All of them seem intent on saving Bruce Wayne from the grasp of the Justice League for no apparent reason, going as far as betraying their previous allegiances.
Unknown to the Justice League, these people are equally confused. Clearly they're stuck in another dimension, but how do they get back? How did they even get here? Who else is stuck in this world? And how long will Tim's patience last? Back home, the Bat was a planetary symbol that struck fear in the hearts of criminals. In this new world, it has no meaning, save for the handful of stranded souls.
All Batfam is featured. While this is also technically not a case fic but adventure/dimension travel fic, its plot has a mystery element to it and characters have to investigate a lot as far as I remember. It’s probably the only WIP here on this list but god, is it worth to read and bookmark it. You know what? I’m even going to go ahead and subscribe to the author, too.
7) The Volatile Verse (117K) by BlackFriar, starting with Volatile (47K)
After a transdimensional mishap, Batman and Robin are faced with a murderous Joker rampaging through Gotham and an anti-hero who is determined to remove Robin from the crime-fighting business. Can they strike a balance before it all ends in tragedy and the Joker has the last laugh?
It’s a dimension travel case fic (series of fics, actually!) set in Young Justice with Robin!Dick and main universe!Red Hood!Jason. It’s a great story that doesn’t shy away from darker themes, can and probably will make you cry, but it also has hopeful ending. This Jason is going to be okay with these Bruce and Dick, and at the end of the day, after the case is solved, what else do you need?
8) I saved one of the best till the end, and it’s basically anything by Mikimoo
Fair warning, most of their fics are jaydick. My favorites are:
8.1 Between The Bars (48K)
A number of suspicious deaths at South Haven Penitentiary are being ignored by the authorities, but have attracted the attention of various other parties.
OR:
That one time Dick and Jason accidentally ended up undercover on the same mission and started a riot.
8.2 And If I Recover (33K)
Officer Dick Grayson is captured by a criminal group that makes it's living from torture and extortion. Half the family are forced to watch as events unfold, while the rest franticly try to track down the culprits.
8.3 That Awful Bitter Taste (30K)
Roped in to find out what has happened to Dick on an undercover mission, Jason finds himself faced with situations that challenge his personal identity. Meanwhile, Dick is having to face demons from his past, and Jason is not sure if he is helping or hurting.
But of course, the best time to have this particular existential crisis is while trying not to die in the desert, and being chased by angry men with guns.
8. 4 This Night (33K)
The Red Hood and Officer Grayson are on the same case.  A small misstep has far reaching consequences for them both.
All those fics are tagged as jaydick, and most of them have high rating but it’s for graphic description of violence so read the warnings before reading.
Even if you aren’t a jaydick shipper, those fics are plot-heavy and case-focused. The relationship dynamic and its progress would be natural and heartfelt as well.
Also, if asked to choose only one fic from the author, or only one jaydick, or only one case fic, I probably would have chosen Between The Bars, just so you know.
9. Two Birds on a Wire by  empires, pentapus (20K)
Dick asks Jason for help on a case. Jason should have never agreed.
It’s so popular you probably read it already. Still, just in case, I will include it too because it’s such a great undercover mission fic.
10)  Crimes at Night by empires (16k)
It's summer in Gotham, and the city is experiencing a record breaking heatwave and a rash of violence centered around a strange new drug circulating through the city's youth. Robin is determined to locate the drug's source and put an end to the distribution before things get worse.
Young Justice verse, Robin!Dick and never adopted!Jason, jaydick. It’s a great AU and well-executed case fic and if you’re into Jason/Dick, their relationships are very cute also.
