11: In what situation was your character the most afraid they’ve ever been?

Jon: Boring answer I know, but Jon can’t actually…experience fear? If that makes sense. It’s one of the emotions he can’t experience/has no reference point for. There’s no base point for fear in any of his books, beyond like, a standard definition. Which doesn’t help someone understand an emotion. This 100% leads to him being in Situations way too often.

Darcy: I’ve mentioned before that Darcy had a building fall on him in a Loony Tunes Moment (tm) during the fall. But he was under that building for a *while*. Like. Days. And he was *terrified* for most of it. Why was he still alive? Why couldn’t he feel half of his body? Why did he have to feel pain so hot his brain couldn’t even black out for him. Why did he have to be awake for everything *the entire time*? It was Bad and resulted in severe claustrophobia.

12: In what situation was your character the most calm they’ve ever been?

Jon: Unfortunately since he doesn’t have a base line for fear, he doesn’t really understand the concept of being calm. Or more, he can identify it in other people as their default state but can’t identify it in *himself* since he’s pretty much always calm. (Or excited about hyperfixation (puzzles)) Emotions are always easier to spot in other people if you don’t personally have any sort of attachment to them.

Darcy: I don’t have any specific situations but in general he’s most calm when doing a dissection, and can lose himself for hours in note taking and observation. It helps calm him down if he’s panicking. Alternatively reading any sort of medical journal or book helps as well as getting him to start talking about his work to distract him.

[OOC: Hi everyone, this will be my final post before I stop using this account. I hope you enjoy the voice log from Colin's lab that somehow made its way to Wormblr. Our boy really needs some sleep and to dial down the coffee and other stimulants.

I will try to post this somewhere around 02:00 - 04:00 on the 15th so it corresponds to the date and time of Leviathan's attack (I think he attacked somewhere between 06:40-07:00 in the morning).

I'd like to begin by saying how amazing all of you are and how much fun I've had interacting with you, seeing your opinions and ideas. I started this blog because I love the character of Colin Wallis, his personality, his powers, and his journey. In hindsight, a normal blog (rather than an RP one) where I can freely share my thoughts about him would have been a lot better, and I will probably make one in the future.

As for why I'm abandoning this profile, while trying to think of what exactly Colin would post on his official Armsmaster blog, I came to the conclusion that he most likely wouldn't post much of anything at all. Maybe he'd reblog important posts from the PRT, Protectorate, or other government officials but nothing personal or inappropriate (the PR department wouldn't let him, at the very least). In my opinion, he definitely has a couple of unofficial social media accounts that he uses to gather information, plus one that he uses to share funny pictures (memes?) and/or jokes with Dragon. This is why I haven't been posting much recently; I just don't think it would be in character.

I fucking LOVE when a villain/hero "we're not so different you and i" confrontation is written well. holy shit. wake up arm man you fucked up big time!!! now the serial killers want your ass on their team!!! also. the suicidality of it all. i know he said he was doing that to provoke him but. damn colin.

I feel like they're setting up for an armsmaster villain arc and . holy shit???? I was honestly expecting him to go rogue at some point anyway but I thought thay would be as a vigilante and not. FUCKING SLAUGHTERHOUSE NINE. but maybe he won't join them idk. seems like they don't take no for an answer very easily though. THE THING IS I can see him going villain arc considering his personality and arrogance up to this point PLUS his dissatisfaction with the prt as a result of his forced retirement slash house arrest .

BUT. I can't see him doing that without dragon. and I don't think she's exactly... capable? of doing that? bc in her chapter she talked about needing to follow her code and follow certain rules hardwired into her system so idk if she can actually break those???? HOWEVER. IT SEEMS LIKE. SHES GOING TO TELL HIM ABOUT BEING AN AI. which. holy shit. *and* she was thinking about using the prosthetics she used to fix his face on herself????????? dragon building herself a body pog???? maybe she's gonna try to recruit him as a replacement <guy who created her whose name I can't remember rn> and have him mess with her code bc hes a tinker and seems to be familiar with a lot of her systems already. hellyes.

anyway if DRAGON goes villain arc I think we're all majorly fucked because she runs the fucking birdcage. that would be so bad for everyone and everything . good lord. I support women's wrongs though.

GOOD FUCKING CHAPTER. armsmaster is such an interesting character I hate how intrigued i am by him. his and dragons dynamic is so important 2 me I wasn't expecting to like both of them so much.... man.

Leigh plays Tellius prt 8

It's time to get everybody's favorite racist uncle Shinon back on our side! I only had to restart this map once, and it was because I forgot to bring Volke to open the chests. Otherwise, it was pretty smooth sailing.

Never change, Ike.

There he is... I honestly have such conflicted feelings about Shinon. He's one of those characters that I hate as a person, but at the same time, I appreciate him as a character. He adds a very important element to the Greil Mercs, in that he creates conflict, because he's an instigator by nature, like in the beginning when his values conflict with Titania's. Plus, the Greil Mercs call themselves a family, and you can't have a family without at least one racist asshole, right?

And okay, yes, his relationship with Rolf is cute. Apparently his support conversations with Janaff are really interesting, but I've never read them. Maybe I should do that sometime.

I don't plan on using Shinon in PoR, though. Rolf has exceeded my expectations, so he's going to remain my one and only archer. I'll probably use Shinon in RD, though, at least in part 3. I doubt I'll be bringing him to endgame, but we'll see.

Shinon said "give it your best shot" and Ike said "okay" and killed him with a critical hit on the first try.

I love this little contest these two set up, and I also love how we never hear about the conclusion, because we all know who came out on top in that 1v1 fight. And I just love Ike's growing confidence!! He's really growing into his role. This interaction is such a contrast from that battle in chapter 4.

Ahhh!! The confrontation between Soren and Nasir!!! This scene always hurts me to read.

I know that Nasir apologizes to Ike, but I believe he also owes Soren an apology for this. Threatening to out Soren if Soren doesn't agree to look the other way? That's so cruel. Nasir, I love you, but wtf.

Fuck, I always forget how dumb Homasa looks. At first glance, it looks like he has short hair, but no, his hair is actually long in the back. Like, what is that supposed to be? A mullet? Why doesn't the hair from the top flow into the hair that goes down his neck? Why does it look like he has two separate hairstyles going on at the same time? The game wants me to be intimidated by this high-crit rate swordmaster, but then they make him look like this.

Jill and Mist's A support! I know I said I wanted the Mist and Boyd A support, and I am going to do that in RD, but I decided to go with this support in PoR. Why did I make this choice? I guess I was paranoid about Jill deserting, even though I know she doesn't unless you have her talk to her father.

Anyway, I know Mist is saying this because of her own issues regarding her recently deceased father, but man. Knowing what I know about Ashnard, this line hits different.

Why are mandolin and manicotti the two first words that come to Ike's mind? I had to google what manicotti was. Apparently it's a type of Italian pasta.

Reading this conversation, I was struck by how closely the laguz's approach to leadership aligns with Ashnard's whole philosophy about strength determining a person's worth. I wonder if this inspired or at least influenced Ashnard's worldview at some point? Perhaps it was something that he discussed with Almedha, back before their friends with benefits situationship turned sour.

The major difference, I think, is that laguz society don't expect obedience from its people. If they think the leader is worthy, then they will follow. Or so Ulki seems to imply. I wonder what happens when an unfavorable leader becomes king?

Hmmm... much to think about.

Anyway, that is part 8 over and done with. Next, I need to get the knight ring from Naesala.

How to make characters reckognisae despite using stylisation? I’m gld you ask.

Like you would for portrait, you will search for the mort markant and important features in the face. Except this time, instead of going more into detail for them, you simply draw everything else normal in ur style and then take those few features and completely exeragate it. You can go completely nuts if u want. This works with every style. It also helps to asogn your characters specific shapes that you think match them, their face, their body or their personality etc pp. Obv u don’t use them just like that. Depending on your style you might not even use them for your poses sketch. But you can still use tham as a guideline.

A good example however would be Angelo! And Luca (generally Pixar). Ofc these are one of the examples that do it to an extreme amount, and almost always use only ONE of said features but that only makes it easier to understand the principle for beginners.

For instance, you see in the original for example: the ears are usually the same: simple amd round. And if you noticed, the fanarts didn’t bring them out either. and the noses and eyes are fairly similar as well unless they are markant. Gulia and Alberto both have iconic hairstyles which on the other hand were in fact used in the arts. Obviously the clothes were a factor in recognising them here as well bit try to focus on the other parts. Gulias Eybrows and nose are always more important than the rest of her eyes. Obviously theres massimo whose eyes -or well- rather, lack there-of make him recogniseable. But there are a lot of characters like these

, to name one. And in a different style massimo would look like this too if we would only concentrate on that single feature. But masimo has hair, and bigger legs. His style of clothing is also completely different.

It also works if you want to age up characters, make AU’s etc. Not only if tou wanna change styles.

Now an example of how to use this.

Here’s how you go abou drawing Davey Jacobs.

Davey’s face is rather long-ish. His nose hoocked. He has small eyes (especially in comparison) and the distance between them is very small. He is also very tall

Obv he doesn’t show his full face but the all of prt we do see is actually markant. They have hooded eyes and wavy eyebrows. The mask can actually BE a feature like in this case. Then of course ranboo is very tall so theres that.

What if the character isn’t from a life action or irl thing in the first place? Trust me. They still have that. This is something every professional does even though stylisation isn’t specifically taught (because it’s different for everyone. You can only teach anatomy) lets do Mr Foot.

Mr foot is always slanky, half bold woth his remaining hair curly and red. His eyes, different to all the other eyes in the show, have a normal size (so theire small) he wears glasses and has a longer, bigger nose, which differentiates him from becky.

Okay let’s step this up one last time. They have different appearances? Actors? Etc? I’m sure your find smt they have in common. If not, are they discibed in a book? If still no: just pick one version lmao. Lets go w Dumbledore

This one is actually quite easy and not “stepped up” but its only so i can explain it better. Usually this makes it harder.

Dumbledore obv always has his grey white beard. He has halfmoon glasses but none of these are actually HIM (i mean, the beard is ig). He is also (almost) always shown as the old man he (is). He has wrinkles. You can show old people by indicating wrinkles on the firehead, under/ next to the eyes or laugh folds. The more the older ofc. Dumbledores eyes are very small but still to nig for his glasses and his lips usually can be barely seen

Did you notice how none of those required a specific style of drawing? Each of these things can be stylised in any way. The rest is un important. As long as you give him those features, the people that know him, will recognise him.

We mostly rely on haircuts for this kind of stuff. But what if you have an Alternate Universe? What if your character gets cancer in a fic? What if they change for any other reason.

If you cant find the soecial feature, try seeing it as if you were actually doing a portrait when looking for them. You force yourself to find smt like that.

Uou really think ur character has no soecial features? Fine.

You have several options

1 you dont make anything special. This can BE the special feature to make them look different than the rest.

2 you do it like you would do it for portraits, u just choose one or two or three things and instead of making them special, you make them detailed. If possible: detailed as in “inspired by the character and not just the little.” They have blue eyes? Tgey are now NEON BLUE. They have curls? Tgey flow EXACTLY like they do in the original.

Stop drawing realistic. Specially go with existing characters that are fron cartoons or animations etc.

There’s this scene in Chevalier’s interlude where he’s going through the list of who bothered to show up to the New Dehli Endbringer Fight. Something that caught my attention is when he notes that Spire, head of the San Diego Protectorate, made the choice not to take his team to the fight, owing to recent losses and personal anxiety about the odds.

Now the first interesting thing about this is that we’ve never heard of Spire, the story has never alluded to Spire, we have no idea what Spire does power wise. San Deigo’s “Hat,” in terms of the U.S cape scene, is that it houses The Whetstone, the training facility for new Wards, which is a premise that other authors have milked multi-million-dollar franchises out of. Whoever’s in charge of that operation is a pretty big goddamn deal. And this is all we get about Spire for the entire book. 

While this feels like that thing Wildbow sometimes does where he namedrops a random cape for flavor, Spire is actually performing an extremely important role, demonstrating the ongoing collapse of the Protectorate, highlighting Chevalier’s specific anxieties about his own ability to lead, using a character that Chevalier would definitely know about even if the audience doesn’t. And so this is an instance where my “tell-me-more” reflex is actually steering me wrong. There is the perfect amount of Spire in this story.

The other thing I find interesting about this is that it indicates that, apparently, individual protectorate cells are allowed to just... not do things, when asked. One of the most prominent teams in the country is allowed to tell the head of The Protectorate to go stuff it. This might be a feature of the broader politicking of the post-echidna Protectorate; Chevalier might not be forcing the issue because that would be a bad look so soon after the entire upper management got ousted for secretly running the government and so forth. But it’s also highlights something interesting about cape-specific power structures. There’s a drum that @victoriadallonfan beats, (that I beat to a lesser extent because I’ve never been as completely convinced that it’s true) that the government hero structures are fundamentally dissimilar from conventional police. Their groupings are smaller with a more lateral distribution of power- clusters of six to twelve people with comparable soft social power to each other. Their mandate is more specific- power-related crimes only. Their numbers are drawn from segments of society most likely to have been fucked over by said society, and their mandate is to get as many capes on their side as possible, leading to an inherently more forgiving (albeit self-serving) approach to crime-fighting. Individual Protectorate members can be brought in line with the goals of the greater authoritarian machine only to the degree that their wranglers are capable of forcing them in line. This means that, for better or for worse, heroes have vastly more discretion in how they go about their jobs. 

Now, In canon, we mostly see them use this discretion to do really horrific things (Hi Shadow Stalker) and to enact coverups. So on the whole this discretion is probably not a good thing even if it theoretically could be. (If anyone can jump in with an example of heroic discretion being put towards positive ends, that’d be neat; again, I’m not totally sold on the premise that they aren’t just shinier cops.)

 But the Spire thing does demonstrate that there’s a level of pushback possible that calls into question not whether the PRT is authoritarian (it is) but whether it’s effective at turning its individual members into institutional authoritarians.

Spire said no. Chevalier listened. When the depths of the PRT’s corruption became clear, it hemorrhaged members. Something to take away from this! Not sure what, but something!

This might be a niche post, but I just realized that Worm shares a pretty significant plot point with, of all things, Mob Psycho 100. Namely, a villain that is giving the super-powered heroes an inordinate amount of trouble because their secondary power lets them anticipate their movements is defeated by a non-powered guy stepping in. For Worm, its Jack Slash being shot by a Dragon’s Tooth PRT soldier, while for MP100 its Shimazaki getting punched out by the unpowered con-artist Reigen (see here). On its own, that’s a fun coincidence. But it actually highlights some pretty interesting thematic differences between both works and why their interested in power.

Shimazaki getting got by Reigen is mostly played for laughs, as part of the running joke of Reigen managing to defuse things through bluffing, luck, and life-coaching. But that running joke is itself part of MP100′s theme that power/super-abilities are just one characteristic of a person, which does not determine their worth. Whenever Reigen manages to do this, its the text commenting how little his opponent has going for them besides their psychic powers, to the point that they can be brought low by a more put-together guy telling them to grow up.

In the Shinmazaki fight specifically, its pointing out how ridiculous it is for these people to single-mindedly focus on power so much. To battle the heroes, Shimazaki limits his anticipation-sight to the espers in the area, forcing everything out so he can gain the upper hand on them. He literally gives himself tunnel vision.

When he gets clocked by Reigen, and finds he cant sense him, he immediately jumps to the conclusion that Reigen is an incredibly powerful esper able to hide his aura from him, rather than him just not being an esper. Non-espers posing a threat is such a non-possibility in his mind that its never even considered. Its funny, but it also shows a huge character flaw that ties directly into the central theme of the show.

With Jack Slash in Worm, however, the message really isn’t anything about how the non-powered shouldn’t be discounted. There’s almost no other instance where the non-powered can do much of anything: you have the Manequin fight, arguably some of Piggot’s plays, and....hm. That’s about it really. Even the main agency responsible for keeping capes accountable to non-powered humans is repeatedly revealed to secretly be controlled by a parahuman. So there’s not much thematic going on with this aspect of Jack’s defeat: narratively, it serves to introduce discussions on Jack’s superpower, how it relates to Taylor’s superpower, and what that implies about the metaphysical nature of superpowers, all of which become important for the final arch. Its also an example of cape fights being won by figuring out your opponents powers and coming up with a clever workaround, which is a repeated and interesting aspect of Worm but not tied directly to its message. This is, in effect, the opposite of what MP100 is doing: while the problem was solved with a non-parahuman, all the narrative attention spilling out of it is focused on superpowers and capes. The Dragon’s Tooth soldier is not even named, and certainly has no direct attention given to him. Golem gets accolades for figuring out what to do, and Foil for acting on the chance provided, but the soldier is discarded by the narrative immediately.

And that’s partially because Worm is interested with wrestling with political questions about power more than anything else. It is a piece of media informed by and responding to years of discourse on how Superman should more effectively use his superpowers, on how superheroes reproduce police violence, etc. It is interested in asking whether those with power have a responsibility to use it for others betterment at whatever cost, whether it can be destructive to do so, whether its selfish to do otherwise. It asks how power can be used responsibly, how those in power should balance accountability with effectiveness. In short, it asks how those with power should use it, and consequently gives all its attention to those with power. There’s very few significant non-cape characters in Worm’s expansive cast for a reason.

None of these questions are really the focus of MP100, where instead of being a metaphor for political power, psychic abilities are meant to represent skill. So them main thematic questions are focused on how power intersects with the individual: does skill give a person more worth? Can an inflated sense of entitlement limit your ability to fully develop as a person? Is it worth trying to better yourself in something your not good at when you have other skills to make up for it? Can a person’s abilities make them truly independent, or are we all reliant on each other in some form? There’s a much greater proportion of non-powered characters compared to Worm, and much less expectation that power has to be used. Mob is allowed to focus his attention on school and friends and only use his powers when saving others, and this fits with the theme of power being only one, non-important aspect of a person. Worm is packed to the brim with displays of power and commentaries on how and why people are using them, with little regard for their life outside of cape-dom, and that too is consistent with its themes on the responsibilities of the powerful.

In short, MP100 presents a world where non-espers can often help situations and relying on power is a sure way to get humbled, while Worm presents a world where non-capes are nearly always helpless and can only contribute by an interesting loophole, and both make complete sense as readings of similar situations considering the questions each text is addressing.

Mechanic! Reader x Yandere Security breach characters

The Last Job Prt.2

Y/n was strolling into the Plex with her lunchbox in a protective grip because the past few days chica would try to snatch it away to get the treats that y/n had for her and the gang.

Somehow mysteriously the whole gang including the others have figured out her schedule. COUGH* hacking! COUGH!* COUGH* geez I need water!*

But y/n paid no mind to it because she thought that they must’ve figured out her coworkers after the first few days of their first times. But now she can’t go a full day without a certain jester or hungry crazed chicken going after her, begging her to play with them.

But today she had to go to the daycare because a child had the bad luck of breaking one of the lights.

As y/n entered they were stopped by a cheerful smile by this charming daycare attendant.

“Y/n! You’re here! Can we play? Pretty please?” Asked the yellow and red animatronic as his arms wiggled like noodles as he followed y/n.

“After I fixed the broken light before opening, jeez I’m surprised with today’s kids, how did they even manage to break a light?” Said Y/n as she climbed a ladder and began her work on the light.

Sun drop watched her the entire time like a hawk. As y/n worked she felt her body going numb and she cursed herself for not taking a rest and regretted watching a certain soap opera.

As her body fell from the ladder, the daycare assistant instantly went into action and caught her just in the Knick of time.

“Thanks sunny! This is the consequences of binge watching a soap opera made a long time ago.” Mumbled Y/n as she got back to her feet and finally finished the light and cleaned up the remaining mess.

But when she was about to leave, she heard a sound, a sound of a stampede? A stampede of tiny feet! The kids were being dropped off at the daycare already?! Y/n checked her watch to see it was opening time, after she quickly got rid of the items with sunny’s help it was like it was before.

Y/n was about to leave when she saw a tiny toddler crawling around, HOLY FRICK…. Y/n couldn’t help but pick the child up and baby them.

The kid remind her of her multiple cousins, and this one was no exception to her love of toddlers and tiny children.

But as much as y/n wanted to stay and play with the toddlers of the daycare she got a call to fix one of the carts in roxy’s section. She gently put the kid down and left in a hurry before sunny could even catch up to her.

“There it is! Can’t believe this cart break so easily!” Said Y/n as she saw that the cart was missing it’s important part.

“You’re lucky that it was discovered before someone rode on it otherwise someone would’ve been injured!” Said Y/n as she worked on it causing some bigger kids watching her in fascination.

“Another incident, another lawsuit.” Muttered Blake, one of the more grumpier people who worked in Roxy’s raceway. He was on the realistic side of the pizza plex despite its lively entertainment and fun.

“Stop being a downer B! Think of the positive side! At least they found out about it before a kid got a scratch!” Said Macy, her positive attitude was infectious and one of y/n’s friends.

“It’s done! Be grateful that we had that delivery of parts yesterday!” Said Y/n as she closed the cart, and helped the kid inside when she tested it.

“Hmp! I don’t care about anything as long as it doesn’t affect my paycheck or my agenda.” Grunted Blake as he took off his cap and wipe off some sweat and placed it back where it was.

“Y/n! You’re here!” Said a familiar wolf as she went up to her, causing some kids to look at the squad and some even wanting to see the wolf herself but the other kids who wanted their place caused them to stay.

“Yup, it’s me, weird that an important part of the cart is missing from the cart.” Said Y/n as she looked at the cart that was now racing on the racetrack.

“Don’t bother with it as long as it doesn’t add another problem to the plex.” Muttered Blake as he glared far off into the distance of the pizzaplex.

“Anyways, since you don’t have anything to do would you-“ Asked Roxy but it was cut off by a security bot going up to y/n.

“Y/n, your assistance is required at Monty golf.” Said the bot and it wandered off.

“Welp gotta go, bye Roxy! Bye Blake! Bye Macy!” Said Y/n as she hurried over to the golf.

Roxy only stared as Macy said her goodbyes. Roxy twitched her eye, her anger taking over her body like a infection, hands twitching.

“Roxy? Are you alright?” Asked Macy.

“I’m fine, just going to leave now…”

Said the wolf as she quickly left while Macy shrugged it off and quickly argued with Blake as he said something that was probably offensive.

Y/n was now in a tight position, literally, she saw that one of the background lights were off and she was replacing the broken wire, but somehow all the lights went off, causing children and parents to get out like it was the plague. Now here is y/n, with a flashlight in her mouth pointed at the wires and hanging for dear life because the ladder didn’t do its job.

‘FUCKING FUDGE CAKE!!!! Why did the ladder forsaken me?!??!?!?’ Thought y/n as she looked around with flashlight in her mouth, then it fell from her mouth.

“Anyone there?! I’m stuck!” Yelled y/n at the top of her lungs as she felt her hands barely gripping on the metal bar.

“I got you!! Let go y/n!” Yelled Monty as he got under her with arms ready to catch her. With little hesitation and a lot of whispering cursing, she let go and Monty grabbed ahold of her.

“Woah, I do not want to get the high ground, almost never.” Said Y/n as she grabbed her flashlight and went to turn on the lights with a gator in tow.

“But good news I fixed the wires.” Said Y/n as she turned on the lights and instantly some kids already flooding into the golf course and going to Monty.

“Not one minute you guys already fill the place!” Said Y/n as she patted one on the head which cause the munchkin to giggle and went off to go play in the golf course.

“Wow Monty looks like you are getting stronger!” Joked Y/n as children were being carried by the big gator himself.

“Oh you notice?” Said Monty as he looked in pride making y/n cackle.

“Y/n! We have trouble with an oven!” Said Alex as he went over to y/n and y/n immediately went over to the kitchen while Monty was shaking in anger at the daytime security guard and went off.

As the her shift was going on, she was either fixing a broken item or sometimes being a friend to people who needed a break from work.

Jade was the new person who was the cook in the kitchen, she was currently living a new lifestyle away from her abusive ex, her life was a rough one, parents to busy with her younger siblings never paying attention to her and her struggling and her ex was the one that broke her. Now she is living a fresh start and being y/n’s new friend.

“Y/n over here!” Whispered Jade as she motioned y/n to get to the break room.

“Hey Jade, still nervous about speaking louder?” Asked Y/n as she passed Jade some chocolate.

“Yeah, still pretty nervous and still not used to chica trying to get a pizza or garbage from the kitchen now and then.” Said Jade as she swallowed the bits of chocolate.

“Don’t worry about chica, she can be pretty ruthless when she’s hungry, especially if she doesn’t get her food for a few days.” Said Y/n as she placed her cup of coffee that was mixed in with chocolate shavings along with cream.

“I admire some of the people that don’t care about the people that tried to being them down or the confidence they have when looking at the people that are intimidating, like you y/n, you never feel scared when the animatronics are around.” Said Jade as she shook her hands, her veins showing on her hands.

“Jade! Jade breathe, your body feels worse remember? Just calm down, don’t think about them, they aren’t here to hurt you. Just think about the better times you had when you didn’t have them around you!” Said Y/n as she patted Jade on the back as Jade breathed in and out, calming down.

“Thanks y/n, sorry about that, it’s just that I somehow feel uncomfortable like something has been crawling in my stomach, like they are going to find me.” Said Jade as she put her hands on her face.

“Don’t worry about it Jade, they won’t find you besides your parents are probably too busy spoiling your sibling or your ex probably moved on by now, you have no troubles, just forget about them.” Said Y/n as she soothes Jade as she finished her lunch.

“Y/n! We have trouble again at the kitchen! Chica tear open the oven’s door.” Said Alex as he pointed at the direction of the kitchen.

“Goddamn! And just when I was about to finish my coffee! Here Alex you can have it! I don’t want it cold and plus I’m feeling charitable… CHICA I HAVE SNACKS!!!!” Yelled Y/n as she ran with her lunchbox, while Alex looked at Jade who smiled nervously and Alex drank the coffee.

“Mmm, chocolate with a hint of cream and vanilla, definitely going to get that order if I go to Unibucks.” Said Alex as he drank the rest of it while going back to his shift.

“CHICA PUT THE PIZZA DOWN!!! That’s for the kids and the guests!” Said y/n as she tried to get the chicken to put the pizza back on its plate.

But when all hope was lost, y/n put her hand in her lunchbox and got chica’s treat which made the chicken buck in surprise, a bag of toritos the pizza flavored version.

“Put.the.pizza. On the plate. Please?” Said Y/n as she waved the bag as chica put the pizza on its place and tackled the flying bag and y/n, quickly fixed the oven’s door.

“I’m still surprised how they didn’t get canceled.” Mumbled y/n as she looked at chica devouring the chip bag like a piranha.

Y/n walked away while chica was eating the pizza chips and y/n ran off to find her friend Jade at the break room, but she wasn’t there, her lunch was still there so what happened?

“LET GO!!!!” Yelled a familiar voice in the distance.

‘Oh no…. IS IT WHO I THINK IT IS?!?!?’ Thought y/n as she ran to the front of the daycare to see her friend struggling with a large male who had begging and angered eyes.

“Jade! Look I’m sorry let’s just go back and forget about this whole ideal! Stop being so difficult!” Yelled the male as Jade continued to struggle.

“NO! I am tired of this Johnathan! You always at that before you keep on doing the things you promised to stop doing! I won’t put up with you! Even if you try to get me back! I.WILL. NEVER.BE. WITH. YOU!! Now off!” Yelled Jade as she punched johnathan in the face, causing his nose to bleed. At the first sight of his red he was pissed.

Y/n tackled into the male and blocked his way between Jade and him.

“ENOUGH OF THIS!!! You sir must exit this facility and never return due to your AWFUL BEHAVIOR!! Not to mention causing some of our guests and our staff uncomfortable! Now leave before I call security!” Yelled Y/n as she bided time for Jade to run away from her ex.

As jade’s ex tried to go after her, y/n kept blocking him and the moment y/n tried to back him off, she was met with a punch in the face and a kick to the stomach causing her to yell in pain.

Her pathetic whimpers of pain were heard as she held on her stomach trying to soothe her pain, before she blacked out, all she saw were dots of figures and security bots trying to help her.

The last thing she saw was………… colorful figures picking her up and her name being called out……

Attack on Titan Analysis Prt.1

This analysis will contain MAJOR spoilers for the AoT series, so if you wish to not have anything spoiled be warned now. This is also not a FULL analysis of the series since it is so ridiculously plot heavy. It would take probably over 100 pages for me to get to everything I'd want to, so this is all for now :)

Summary:

Attack on Titan (AoT) follows the story of a civilization of people forced into living trapped behind walls due to the fear of the giant human-like creatures called titans who thirst for nothing but human flesh and blood. Titans have terrorized the remainder of humanity for many years and the population has been kept safe behind the 3 walls Maria, Rose, and Shina for an entire century. The main 3 characters of the story Eren Jaeger, Mikasa Ackerman, and Armin Arlert witness the end of a century of peace as the colossal peeks above the 60-meter tall walls that have successfully protected humanity for 100 years and kick a giant hole in it, exposing all of the civilians to the horrors of the bloodthirsty titans. The 3 friends strive to become members of the survey corps, a group dedicated to protecting the people from titans and uncovering the many mysteries of the existence of titans; in order to reach their goals, they must complete grueling training to prepare them for venturing outside the walls to slaughter titans and bring the creatures to their extinction, but the duty of a corps member evolves being prepared for one’s likely and untimely death while fighting against the titans. AoT is a thought-provoking story that is based around perspectives and discovering the mysteries surrounding the near extinction of humanity. Questions are posed throughout as the plot is filled with twists and surprises, and morals are questioned as the viewers grapple with themes such as “do the means justify the ends?” and “who is the real enemy?”.

Analysis:

Part I: Erwin Smith

(MAJOR SPOILERS)

The Monstrous Commander

AoT is very morally complex in the sense that when an entire group of individuals risks their lives by going outside the walls to save humanity, an individual must lead the herd. Said individual goes by the name Erwin Smith, the commander of the survey corps. Erwin is an individual who must send thousands of his soldiers to their death during each expedition outside of the walls; Erwin’s a pretty morally gray character since his job is to ultimately save humanity but the question is at what price? Immeasurable sacrifices are made in the form of human lives as a successful expedition may result in the loss of more than 40% of the soldiers due to being devoured by titans. At an outward appearance, Erwin is a strong leader who is willing to become a monster in order to provide the eventual win of humanity over the titans, but when diving deeper into his character he is a man who is caught up in his childhood desire to learn all the answers to the mysteries about titans and the world that he lives in.

In these few panels, Armin Arlert picks apart how commander Erwin is an amazing leader despite what many people may believe since he has the ability to make sacrifices even though the outcome may be devastating as many lives will most likely be lost in the process. Armin’s opinion of a great leader is brought around again at different points in the story to emphasize its importance.

Part II: Eren Jaeger

The Boy who Wished for Freedom

Eren Jager is the main character of AoT and might be one of the most dynamic characters in his amazing character development throughout the story. Eren starts as a hotheaded teenager whose only desire is to eradicate all the titans after witnessing his mother and hundreds of people die after the collapse of wall Maria by the colossal and armored titans. His bloodthirst for killing the titans is unnerving in its intensity but he’s become dedicated to the cause because he no longer wishes to live like cattle enclosed in walls for the rest of his life. Eren’s core value throughout the entire series is freedom. Each and everything Eren does is to attain freedom in the hellish world he was born into. His value of freedom is most notably portrayed when Eren is out with his father Grisha Jaeger to visit the Ackerman family; Eren finds Mikasa in her home with the dead bodies of her parents accompanied by dangerous individuals attempting to kidnap her. Eren’s solution to the situation is to aid Mikasa in killing the individuals who have murdered her parents. The turn of events is quite frightening as both Mikasa and Eren were only 10 years old at the time, but it highlights Eren’s desire for freedom. He saw that Mikasa’s freedom was being threatened and he felt so passionately about this that he was not fazed at the prospect of killing the kidnappers who were trying to steal someone’s freedom.

Eren and Armin are able to bond over an illegal book that has drawings and descriptions of the world outside the walls and both boys instantly develop the desire to travel outside the walls to go see the vastness and beauty of the ocean. It serves as a goal to mark their eventual freedom from the terrors of the titans.

After the breaching of wall rose by the colossal titan the cadets experience their first real mission and witness many of their comrades die in the jaws of titans. Eren has headstrong and confident as ever lands himself into the stomach of a titan after protecting Armin from being eaten. Eventually, it is revealed that Eren can turn into the creatures he despises with his whole being. A titan. Following the discovery, Eren, Mikasa, and Armin are tasked with the challenge of trying to convince the leaders of the military factions that Eren is on humanity’s side and will not resort to killing more people. The major event is followed by many trials and questions in whether or not Eren is a threat to humanity until he is finally taken into the care of the survey corps where commander Erwin and “Humanity’s Strongest” Levi Ackerman are finally able to convince the military police to give them custody of Eren. It is concluded that Eren is to be kept alive as a comrade of humanity as he claims that his childhood home in wall Maria has a basement that holds secrets about the titans.

A Life that Carries Weight

As the story progresses, Eren goes from a headstrong hothead to a boy that carries an immense amount of weight on his shoulders. Eren realizes that his very life holds a great weight; many soldiers and civilians die for the small thread of hope that the Jaeger home’s basement holds important information about the titans that will lead to the victory of humanity. The world of AotT is nothing short of being bleak and void of hope so it is understandable that Erwin and other members of the corps are willing to take the risk because what do they have to lose? Up to this point, Eren has faced numerous great losses ranging from the death of his mother, learning how he caused the death of his father, his most trusted comrades being uncovered as traitors, etc. Eren’s mental state is in tethers as he tries to come to terms with the meaning and value of his life and begins to wonder if he was ever “special” to begin with but has been burdened by a special path of life by his father. All of these events take place in the royal government arc of the story. Historia Reiss (formerly known as Krista), a character who was previously only in the background assumes an important role as it is revealed that she is some of the last bit of true royal blood left in the world.

Following Historia’s growing importance to the story, we learn more about the titans and where they come from. I won’t get into all of the technicalities of the 9 titan powers and whatnot but the most important fact to note is that all titans existed as humans at some point in time. Due to the complexity of the topic, I will only graze the surface and state that humans become titans with an injection of spinal fluid from an individual of Eldian descent, this includes almost all of the humans that reside within the walls (I will come back to this sometime later). Rod Riess, Historia’s father has received help from the interior military police to capture his daughter and Eren to have Historia inherit the power of the attack titan which is currently held by Eren (was given to him by his father Grisha). Eren snd Historia learns that the 9 major titan powers are passed down when one consumes the individual possessing the power; this means Rod wishes to have Historia eat Eren so she gains the attack titan power, meaning the power will be in the hands of a pure royal and only those of royal descent can fully harness the power of the 9 titans.

Eren’s capture by Rod is marked by the total collapse of Eren’s mental fortitude as it all but crumbles when he discovers the crimes his father has committed and the consequences of his actions that have led Eren to shoulder such an enormous burden that the once confident boy has lost all hope in himself and his existence.

Now before I get into the next few parts of Eren’s development I have to address the powers of the attack titan, the power that Eren currently possesses. The individual who carries the power of the attack titan can see the memories of their future inheritors which equates to the user being able to see the future. Up to this point, it has been confirmed that only those of royal blood can fully utilize the 9 titan powers. can

Following the events between Rod Reiss, Eren, and Historia, Historia is tasked with taking the throne as the current king is a fraud. At Historia’s crowning ceremony and the ceremony to commemorate the few survivors of the battle at shiganshina where the corps was finally able to uncover the truth about the titans with the information in Eren’s basement, a simple touch of Historia’s hand grants Eren to fully use the power of the attack titan and the future is revealed to him.

The scene marks the complete loss of the Eren Jaeger the viewers are familiar with and marks a new chapter in the story because at this point forward quite literally everything changes.

Dicing characters up

So I’ve recently gotten back into the swing of developing The Wild Hunt, in between puking and other such happy fun times, and of course I ran into the issue of needing to generate original capes. I moaned, I groaned, I made minor notes about general direction, resigning myself to further massive delays in the writing process because making a properly Worm-like power is actually pretty hard-

-and then I abruptly remembered that I actually have an established process for how to do so, and just haven’t used it in a couple of years for various reasons. And lo, this piece of the writing is coming along much faster and more fun.

Then it occurred to me that I could share this process, and explain the reasoning behind it. Maybe others will appreciate it.

Which brings us to now.

First step: write up all twelve canon Worm power ratings. Or I suppose you could use a different system, such as my own stab at making the rating system function, but the canon set is perfectly fine for this purpose. (I’d only personally turn to my own system if I noticed I’d completely failed to make any Othala-esque support capes in a long streak, and felt that was a problem that needed correcting) The order doesn’t matter, you can do whatever in this regard, just make sure you write up the list you’re using first.

Step 1.5: Decide whether you want rolling high to be ‘good’, or rolling low to be ‘good’. I’ll explain this in a minute, but it’s important you do this before you actually roll any dice. Which direction you choose is irrelevant’ I historically went with low=good, and this last session went with high=good, for whatever arcane reasons my brain changes its mind about such things, and it all works out the same so long as you’re consistent within a given session.

Step 1.75: If you’re making multiple characters together, decide ahead of time which set of rolls will ultimately go to which character. ie ‘this is Parahuman 1, so they get Dice Roll Set 1′. Or ‘this is Angry Parahuman, and they get Dice Roll Set 2′. Don’t do all your dice rolling and then assign batches to whoever you prefer. I’ll explain this more later.

Second step: roll an appropriate number of dice. I personally use this site, but it’s not terribly important. My personal model is to roll 12 100-sided dice; this gives a level of granularity and randomness I find useful.

Third step: Plug the die rolls into your list in the order you made each. Your first die roll goes into whatever power rating you placed first in the order, your second die roll goes into whatever rating was second, and so on. No cheating; I’ll come back to this in a minute.

Fourth step: It’s time to engage in deduction about the character you’ve kind-of-created just now. Treat your die rolls as a combination of two things; an indication of how the PRT would rate them, if they know everything reasonably obvious about their power, but also more importantly as an indication of how relatively dominant each element is in their power.

This is the part where actual creativity is involved, and I’m not going to tell you there’s any ‘right’ way of doing things in this regard, beyond that I’ve been emphasizing ‘don’t cheat’ by shuffling rolls about in any capacity, or allowing yourself to assign rolls after they’re made. The reason I’ve been emphasizing ‘don’t cheat’ is that you’re undermining your own creativity if you ‘cheat’; if you have an Angry Cape in your list of tentative characters, and you find yourself prone to doing stuff like giving Angry Capes Blaster powers that are all variations on ‘elemental blasts’, ‘cheating’ means you’re liable to fall right back into that pattern (Or any number of other patterns you’re trying to avoid falling into) instead of forcing yourself to think outside the box. At which point this whole complicated shebang is a waste of your time, honestly.

Now that’s all a bit abstract, so let’s provide an example! Just one cape, even though I really use this system primarily for producing batches of capes, because this is already going to be long and I don’t have infinite time.

Before I start, I’ll arbitrary say this example cape is meant to be a low-tier villain cape in Brockton Bay who Coil recently hired in an imaginary fanfic due to butterfly shenanigans. I’ll also arbitrarily say I vaguely want this cape to think Coil is a great guy, so I have some starting point of a personality beyond the range of possibilities implied by being a Coil hire.

So first I’ll write up the list of ratings;

So first I note the extremes: whatever this cape can do, they’re not a Striker. And if there’s any Mover or Changer elements, they’re really low-key, the sort of thing that would get a PRT threat rating of 1 if they made it into documentation at all.

At the other extreme, Breaker is the highest number, followed closely by Master, Brute, and Shaker, in that order. That implies Breaker is the foundation of this cape’s power (In the framework of ‘Breaker states’, to be specific; if you take a different interpretation of Breaker, you’d interpret this differently), with them either having all their states include Brute/Master/Shaker elements, or that their most powerful/useful states are the ones that merit those ratings.

Tinker is also pretty high up, but not the highest up. If it were the highest rating, I’d probably interpret the cape as a Tinker whose devices all come back to breaker effects in some capacity. Since it’s the lowest of the relatively high ratings, I instead infer the Tinkering is somehow an outgrowth of the Breaker rating; maybe they have a state that can copy tinkertech?

That brings us to the middling ratings of Blaster, Stranger, Trump, and Thinker. These are all high enough I’m not willing to write them off as non-existent qualities, but they’re low enough relative to the main high numbers that they’re clearly not of primary importance, either being not distinct powers at all but a side effect of the primary aspects of their power, or being distinct powers that are weak or inflexible such that the cape doesn’t make much use of them. In this case, the high Brute rating suggests the Blaster rating may simply be an acknowledgement that super-strength is a great tool for turning anything in your environment into an impromptu projectile.

Taken altogether, what comes to mind is that Coil Patsy here has a Breaker state they can turn on that lets them suborn people in an area around them while also making them fairly resistant to harm. At this point I interpret the low Mover number not as, for example, ‘Mover 1′, which would be an indication of mildly superhuman speed or super-jumping or something, but instead as an indication that the Breaker state involves a loss of mobility, which in conjunction with the high Brute rating suggests their Breaker state is something solid and slow, such as turning into solid iron. Said aura of control makes it so everyone in their control is capable of low-tier Tinkering, with the overall versatility and quality of the tinkertech rising the more people in their control are working together. The Trump rating is now obvious; actual Tinkers can be tapped for their full Tinker ability, spontaneously providing this cape brand-new options if they get a Tinker under their control. The Blaster rating is now interpreted as an indication they have a propensity for producing tinkertech rifles and other ranged weaponry, which their thralls use reasonably competently, but which are not stupendously threatening. The Thinker rating is interpreted as an indication they tap the senses of their thralls. The Stranger rating seems to require inventing a new power or major Tinkertech specialty in the context of how canon Worm uses the Stranger rating, but here I lean on the advantages ambiguity provides and choose, in this case, to interpret the Stranger rating as indicating that any signs of control are subtle enough Coil Patsy can have eyes on the inside without people noticing if stringent Master/Stranger protocols aren’t in effect.

By blind coincidence, this cape sounds like a really plausible explanation for where canon Coil got his tinkertech underslung lasers. (That never actually got used...) So now I know that in my imaginary fanfic, this cape is supposed to exist in canon and in canon was hired to make some underslung lasers, but the fanfic’s butterflies led to Coil working to get this cape in his pocket in a more substantial way. I also now know that my original arbitrary decision to make him a fan of Coil indicates Coil used the carrot, rather than the stick, as part of the recruitment process; where Tattletale was recruited with a gun to her head, this cape was recruited by Coil solving his problems and throwing wads of cash at him to do the same basic kind of thing he wants to do anyway.

Now, this sounds like a pretty powerful power, which might seem inconsistent with my earlier arbitrary assertion that Coil Patsy is a low-tier villain, but I can take the interpretation that, yes, it is a strong power, but the cape has been lying low in part because creating a long-term operation is insanely risky. At this step I assume he suffers Thinker headaches if he runs his Breaker state for too long, and that his thralls all remember what happened just fine and are liable to hate his guts and try to kill him once he ends the state, in the scenario where he uses his power to gangpress random citizens; he’s been low-tier because it’s dangerous for him to try to freely abuse his power...

... but for this imaginary fanfic, he’s probably about to turn into a big threat as Coil hires a bunch of people to act as his intermittent Tinker thralls.

From there I do more standard character creation stuff of deciding on his basic personality (And gender, for that matter, though apparently at some point I decided he was male without thinking about it in this particular case), assigning a name and possibly cape name to him, and then put a pin on it and am now free to go forward with writing scenes with this character.

And there you go; a methodology for pushing yourself to come up with weird, creative power sets.

IN CHARACTER

Ho, ho, ho, long time no talk, Walt! Hope you’ve all been enjoying the holiday season! I know I’ve had lots of fun just watching all the drama unfold on our streets lately! First things first, it’s been a dramatic few weeks for our La Bouff girls. Following the youngest one’s engagement to our frog prince, she totes accidentally sent her big sis a text meant for her Maid of Honor. That’s right, fam, little La Bouff is a double-crosser and making her bee eff eff her MOH instead of her sister! O u c h! And in true La Bouff fashion, now they’re totally in a fight. Yikies! Luckily, it’s looking like our oldest La Bouff has an even bigger support system than before cause word is that as of Halloween, she and her arch nemesis have rekindled their old friendship! How cute! Now there’s no STI-Tremaine beef! It’s a Christmas miracle! And to widen our oldest sister’s circle even more, she’s gotten super friendly with her ex recently! They did say this breakup was gonna be friendly but like...this is looking a little too friendly if you ask me! Especially considering she’s got a hot Southern boyfriend now. But hey, if he’s not sus about it then why should we be? Maybe their close birthdays just sparked something up! Talk about having your cake and eating it too. In less happy birthday news, you know how every year our Pixie Hollow kids get together to celebrate their princess birthdays? Well, the birthday girl in question only wanted to spend some time with her adorable boyfriend that night. How cute! And he even turned her bedroom into like, a space observatory cause she loves space! Swoon! But then things got way less swoony when he livestreamed the surprise and then um...accidentally kept livestreaming it.....and the camera caught everything that happened after. And we mean everything. So our pixie princess and her boyf are porn stars now! Word is that the Milori parents are p i s s e d. #Delux have been kind of tight-lipped about this since it happened, so no one really knows their fate, but here’s hoping this one little slip-up hasn’t tore them apart! This last month has been full of wild mix-ups, because it’s looking like our Hunter boy accidentally sent a text meant for his newspaper “buddy” to her dwarf pal, and now the girl is super suspicious! Wonder what there is to uncover! 

That’s it for drama this week, but we’ve got some important dates coming up! On December 31st, the Charming Dance Hall will be having its first-ever annual New Year’s bash! Details to come, but we can assume sequins are invited, as well as lots of bubbly drinks, fun accessories, and your smooching lips for when the clock strikes midnight! And once school is back in sesh, we’ve got auditions for our two original plays coming up! On January 2-4, auditions for Moo! will take place at the high school, and on January 4-6, auditions for Romi & Juliet will take place at the PRT! Can’t wait to see what drama our drama nerds will get into! That’s all I’ve got for you this week, Walt, and I’ll try my best to see you next week!
