mulciber names + snape gang help

im looking into snape gang, ive always been interested in them and never really sat down with them fully anything for beginners (omg it sounds like a lecture or smth) on mulciber or even group dynamics (fic recs welcome!!)

anyway point of this, is that mulciber dearest, commonly shipped with sev, does not have a first name? ive heard seth, aurum malvolio and wolfric all before,

so my questions are; which name is commonly used by fandom or which do you prefer and why?

my breakdown for it and potential headcanons incoming (lemme know how much this interferes with collective fanon or even your own personal reading of it, im always so happy to chat abt anything marauders, especially debates!!)

Seth, no personal collection to it a i've heard its from a fanfic of a sort that i ofc have not read. seth x sev sounds funny and a bit of a tongue twsiter. also as a pureblood mass believer this man would be stacked with latin names

aurum, meaning glowing dawn. ive heard this used because of its connection to vulcan (or hephaestus) with fire and armory. i like it for a few reasons lore wise and then just name wise. as a name, the dawn is associated (at least to me) with new beginnings a new rise, a new dawn. i also hear that lion king speech in dream's voice about the sun and kingdom. so very ethereal and kingly befitting for him i'd say. the more convoluted lore section is something you're going to have to trust me on for a bit. aurum and auora are such twin names, so sinistra and him as twins! different last names of course, either due to marriage after hogwarts or more interestingly for me, seperated at birth. with the second narrative i'd say its a sonya (lizzy) and newt situation from the maze runner, lost and never found. however them interacting in the same group and displaying twin behaviour without them knowing is terribly tragic and dramatically ironic.

malvio, wont stay here long because far too close to marvolo for my liking HOWEVER its a shakespeare name and william my dearest namesake deserves all the respect in the history of ever. so. it means ill will, irony at its finest. bonus points if theres a benvolio (good will) in the hogwarts scene at current. these are also italian names and thus mulciber must be italian i wont accept it otherwise.

wolfric. honestly the one im leaning most towards, the most simple the most funny and the most ironic. all because of dearest remus lupin. severus calling his beloved his bestfriend the one that dramatically pines over him while sev believes hes unlovable being called "wolf" as a nickname and remus flinching every god forsaken time it happens is comedy (tragedy?) gold. after 5th year he started calling remus by "wolf" too and mulciber is absolutely betrayed by this fact and will not buy into the "lupin is a werewolf" conspiracy whatsoever, so just very fun stuff with the name wolfric!!

(almost) Every Danganronpa Entries Tier List.

Don’t know much:

Danganronpa Togami: I’ve read the first two chapters, and they seem kinda fun! I like that another of the Sayaka group idol gets a role in this, but I’ll probably wait until we get like a full fan translation of the novel, bc I’m not reading a resume of it I’m sorry.

Danganronpa 2.5: I probably need to rewatch this one, I don’t remember much abt it, but it seemed cool, I like the idea of the world ender and all of that. And it’s a good way to explain how they made the rest wake up.

Danganronpa 1.2 Beautiful days: read like the first story, odd as fuck, left it halfway through the other one, might read one day but not too keen of non-canon stories.

Danganronpa 3 CD Drama: no translation = Not being able to watch it, I’ve heard what its abt tho, Koichi going and taking a background check on students to enrol, sounds fun.

D Tier:

Danganronpa 1 anime: just objectively worse than the VN in every way possible, way too short and summarized, less funny, less exciting, etc. there are some good scenes here and there, but if you really want to get a feel for the saga, just watch a playthrough of it.

Danganronpa S: One word, Disappointing. What could have been a fun and nostalgic trip through all characters with fun dynamics and cool interactions showing how far the saga has gone turned into a blatant cash grab to get something out for the 10th anniversary. Missed potential in adding dr 3 and even 0 characters in this.

C Tier:

Makoto Secret File: it’s alright, cool view into how Makoto’s luck works, and heck we even get two new lucky people introduced, one a girl who’s unnamed, and Jutaro Akafuku.

Kirigiriso: Def the most bizarre entry out of all, the worst part probably has to be the super galaxy level invaders, don’t fit dr at all. Worst part is that they’re lit canon to the universe with Danganronpa Togami making it so. But I adore Kohei and Santa here, and Kyoka is cool.

Danganronpa 3: Hope Arc: Nothing to say here except it’s okay, I like the scene of Ryota and class 77-B, the final scene is nice and new ultimates too ig?

B Tier:

Ultra Despair Girls: this game could have been perfect, if they bothered taking their plots seriously, it’s the biggest blunder of this game. Taking extremely sensitive yet effective plots for a story like this and not treating them with any respect at all. Tokomaru is cute tho.

Danganronpa IF: cool view into Mukuro and supposedly the one Kodaka likes the most. I think the story is a cool concept, and a lot of ideas for fanfic expansions, I feel like they should make more ifs.

Danganronpa V3: Weakest of the main games, and by far. Sorry to everyone that likes this game, but it just wasn’t for me. I think it has the weakest cast with not much going for them. A lot of them kind of seemed to just serve as canon fodders imo. I’m mixed on the ending, and the trials always seemed to resemble dr 2 but weaker. But Ryoma was peak tho, I’ll say that.

Danganronpa 3 Despair Arc: this entry and future arc are overhated, they’re really cool. I like this one with how we see everything that happened before the tragedy and how everything connected to lead up to it. Kinda wished it was a bit longer tho, maybe like 4-5 episodes longer, get some time to develop characters like Sato, Natsumi, real Miaya and have some parts of zero too maybe?

Ultra Despair Hagakure: it’s this high because of how peak and funny Yasuhiro is, ppl love to flack on this guy and say he should have died, those ppl don’t know what comedy is at all. Also, we get introduced to Kanon which is… controversial, it suffers from the same thing as UDG, with a good concept but horrible execution.

A Tier:

Killer Killer: I love Gaiden! I love the characters that were introduced here, Misaki is cute, Takumi is cool, and Shuji is an awesome Antag. I love the unique art style, it’s such a nice breath of fresh air from Ruis one which was getting really tiring to look at. And the story is so cool! Though I wished the ending with the collar was different, that was too unrealistic, though ig we got the final scene which was cute between Takumi and Misaki.

Danganronpa 3 Future Arc: This one is underrated as fuck, I love most of the characters introduced here with amazing designs, we get a nice return to the more claustrophobic setting from the first game, it’s a new type of killing game which is a nice change, and I like the story of it being two different hopes clashing instead of hope vs despair.

Danganronpa 1: this is an awesome first entry, awesome setting, really nice and memorable characters, cool linear story, best surviving cast, cool murders and development, this game has it all, but I still think others can beat it. But hey, it made it top 4!

S Tier:

Danganronpa 2: My fav game out of the ones here, I think it has the most fun cast, its cases are a step up compared to the first one in terms of difficulty, but not too much like v3. I love the setting too, the happy, cheery island makes the creepy and murders all the more terrifying, and it has the best final trial in the game.

Danganronpa 0: I love Zero! It gives us all amazing characters, Yasuke is like top 3 character, Yuto is such a fun character too, just kinda wished he dumbed down his pervertedness, Isshiki Madarai, while weird still fun too. And Ryoko is so cool too! I like the lore and story it gives to Junko in this and how she was able to get away from the murders of the student council. Def a fantastic read.

Danganronpa Kirigiri: No words can possible explain how good this entry is, and its not even close. Yui is like the best protag tied with Hajime, gives Kyoko a great explanation to her backstory and explanation as to how she is, amazing characters with different yet fun personalities, an amazing plot with the duel noirs, the mysteries of the murders themselves and trying to piece together what happened, and the ending… THE ENDING BRO… YUIIIII I MISSS YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUU. Def the best entry in the saga and rightfully deserves the number 1 spot.

ok huge ask thank you sorry i put it off for so long there’s just much to say….

well to be honest i like just about everything about it it’s such a unique movie. but let me break it down…

first - the effects. guys i know i never stfu about the practical effects in every movie ever but i just really appreciate the way everything is done sfx wise in this one. it’s over the top and extra gory, but it’s in a way that works. it’s campy, it’s goofy, and it kind of just adds to the chaos of the film. the demons from david’s nightmare are all uniquely designed and well thought out even though they are literally just in that one scene. the werewolf design is one of my favorites ever in media. it looks wolf LIKE, but it’s clear that whatever that thing is, it’s not a normal wolf. this is, in my opinion, exactly how werewolves should look. and of course the transformation scene is just iconic. it emphasizes the pain involved in the transformation and really brings out the element of body horror in the movie, reminding us that there’s something even more scary about a loss of bodily autonomy as compared to just your traditional monster attack. and of course, it’s very technically impressive. rick baker the man that you are. i also really like jack’s wound makeup, and i think the way he decays throughout the film is a super cool creative choice and translates very well.

next - the comedy. yes, it’s a horror movie. but it’s also got a strong element of dark comedy that i think makes the movie what it is. the absurdity of the situations - from david’s absolutely bonkers dreams to the finale taking place in an active porn theater, the movie always has something wacky happening in one way or another. and i think this also adds to the humanity of the characters. we’re able to see them as people first, rather than just seeing them as future members of the kill count at the end of the movie.

and of course - the serious stuff. even though it stays pretty consistently silly, it also doesn’t hesitate to remind us of the gravity of the situations being portrayed. david is genuinely losing control of his mind AND body, and he’s faced with the decision to either kill himself or risk killing others. and the scene in which he calls his family right before he attempts always shuts me right up. additionally, it is a tragedy, as are most werewolf narratives. of course i can’t forget to mention it functions pretty damn well as a horror movie also. no matter how funny it is, it has some genuinely scary or at least off putting moments. i still stand by the fact that even standing on its own, the subway scene is one of the strongest sequences i’ve seen in a horror film, and is a great example of how you can scare your audience even more by NOT showing them the monster - leaving everything up to their imagination.

now - the music. i actually really love the score for this movie. there’s not a lot of the actual orchestral piece, but i think it fits perfectly. it’s got a very eerie and kind of melancholy sound to it which i LOVE, and the graininess of the sound adds to it a lot. also, i can’t mention the music without mentioning the soundtrack. i love how every song featured has something to do with the moon it’s such a cute thing to do. and the abruptness of the end credits song really encapsulates the whole movie, i think.

finally - i’m a sucker for werewolf movies. there are like a bajillion iconic horror movies with vampires or zombies or ghosts or demons or mad scientists but there are very few solid werewolf movies. this is one of them. so i’ve latched onto it.

hiiiii i have not read or seen windbreaker my only interactions with it are bc some of my moots r into it now so ive read some fics and i saw tokyo vice on my dash and i was really pulled in by the summary so i read both parts and sincerity and the little prequel piece and oh my god it’s so good. i love the humor, the narrative voice is so witty. suo’s character is so intriguing bc as much as the reader loves and knows him there’s still so much going on that we can only guess at and i felt like that was communicated really well. i enjoyed the fact that sincerity and the prequel let us see their relationship at a different time and how we got to where they are in the present. im really interested in the reader and i felt like u did such a good job of weaving in the comedy to make some of her internal dialogue more lighthearted while still developing her emotional state really well. plus the smut was insane like 11/10 no notes. when the reader said she was excited for pussy inspections >>> like fuck yea me too!!! but anyways i loved the details we learn about her and how her fantasy is have really mundane romantic and vanilla sex. it really speaks to just how fucked up her life has been to the point where her biggest romantic dream is just to have regular sex with the man she loves. like ugh the angst interspersed with the comedy and smut was just chef's kiss. AND THAT ENDING??? WHEN HE THINKS SHE'S ASLEEP. like that did tug at my heartstrings especially when he talked about what their old friends think of him :(( and how if he was a better man he'd let her go. i read another organized crime x civilian fic for a different fandom a few years ago and it ended with the civilian person leaving his partner/his partner letting him go bc the deeper the partner he got into organized crime the more unhinged he became and how his mental state began affecting the civilian. thats a really condensed way of explaining but the events were crazy and it had me crying and screaming every chapter but that's something that ive never seen in other yakuza/gang/organized crime aus so i thought it was really cool to see how that is something that suo thinks about and has to come to terms with now that its been a few years and he can look back at his behavior.

but anyways i really really loved it and im gonna watch/read windbreaker as soon as i can now :)) so thank u for the wonderful fic 🙂‍↕️ and is tokyo vice over? i dont think i saw a completed tag on it on ur masterlist so i wanted to ask if u were leaving the world open

I can't thank you enough for sending such juicy feedback abt tokyo vice, especially about the reader! I did find it somewhat stressful trying to balance the comedy of her narration with the horny and angsty and deranged events of the plot, so I'm glad that you liked that aspect of the fic !!! 🥹 and yeah despite all the comedy, she really is a traumatized meow meow. but it's okay, she can now have the normal sex of her dreams with the love of her life - as long as she can survive 4 months of orgasm denial before their wedding 😭

and LOL I love yandere charas with self-awareness so in general I love writing arcs where they love the reader enough to understand that they should let them go. the plot you're describing is sooooo up my alley and I think suo would absolutely have that thought process if the reader were even remotely mentally normal. unfortunately she is equally insane. I guess that is the tragedy of it for suo - he knows that he can never get better, and he also knows that as long as they are together, she can never get better either. fortunately for him, she could not care less ♥️

I do think tokyo vice is complete, but I do want to finish that sakura wip at some point and also write about suo and mc's sex life after they get together (which is very nasty premaritally and then really vanilla and emotional on their wedding night). I want to finish this kitsune suo pwp first though and finish my ffg commitments too 😭

oh my god guys today binged new tv show 'beef' 2023 in 2 days its on netflix go watch UNLESS YOU'RE IN RUSSIA WHERE DEAREST PRESIDENT HAS BLOCKED WEBSITE BC IT HAS 'WESTERN PROPAGANDA'.. then torrent BUT its so good it reminded me lots of bong joon-hos work with the sudden SUPER DARK EPISODE (2nd last one i think?) love dark comedy, my favourite genre but this was executed so perfectly, oh also the FUCK I FORGOT but heres another reference in swiss army man where hank and manny have those deep talks, that scene of them getting high off of poisoned berries and starvation mwah beautiful, reminded me of that and fuck fuck fuck another movie but it was beautiful OH YEAH BACK TO BONG JOON-HO, with his films being focused on class and race i feel this did the same !!!!!!!! consistently but so so so subtly!! it was great and hey it made me attached to a rich person (billionaire i think very rich) which is pretty crazy, none of any of the others but wowowow amy ily AND generational trauma similar to everything everywhere all at once (2nd movie directed by the daniels that reminded me??) i guess just modern black comedy ohhh and of course steven yeun loved him in okja and sorry to bother you and not so much in nope (hated that movie sorry) he is very nice but really wanted them to just finally fuck like what are you doing god they're like an older married couple who fights all the time what are you waiting for i guess i was sort of waiting for those crazy existentual thoughts to come out before the last episode ?! but i guess it just solifidied their relationship even more so hey good job directors! wish more insight into the cousin whos always in jail but honestly that couldve ruined it THE LAST THING JUST TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED I DONT WANT READER INTERPRETATION DO THEY GET TOGETHER OR NO GAH

the thing is that yes i enjoy both verdante being a romcom comedy or a tragedy or anything in between. ofc we'd like them to be happy but part of me like to explore what would happen if we really stayed canon-compliant

and like. let's take a look at them both. Vergilius is canonly someone who's weighed down by his past sins (killing and assassinating and orphaning children), who fully well accepts that he deserves the karma that comes for him (like this man literally is expecting it and doesn't fight it), yet he chooses to drag himself forward bc if he doesn't he will sink into despair. he is full of guilt and shame. verg also seems reluctant to form new bonds which is understandable considering that he lost everything prior to limbus, and how he doesn't want to drag people down with his karma, at the same time it would be extremely hard for him to trust people due to the risks of betrayal and manipulation in the city. he KNOWS that kindness and empathy will be consumed by the city if they don't adapt (see leviathan and his thoughts on garnet) therefore anyone would be wary bc there's always a catch. vergilius is also extremely duty bound to restoring garnet and lapis and it weighs down on him a lot

now i dont see Vergilius as oblivious bc the man would obviously recognise signs of attraction from Dante. but vergilius, despite his harsh exterior, is also kind deep down or at least practical, so taking the above into account, in this scenario he would probably outright address it to dante that he has... personal goals. maybe dante will be sacrificed at the end for limbus company as a whole, maybe not, but Verg makes it clear that he WILL choose lapis and garnet over dante bc that is his responsibility. what he owes to them.

executive manager, he doesn't say, do not be a fool.

and to his surprise, dante just nods and writes him, "I'm aware. It's ok, I understand."

bc dante respects him. they respect his space and not push anything at all (alongside how they probably feel that they are not worthy yet, or that they don't want to burden Vergilius, bc c'mon they're stumbling through their responsibilities after losing their memory, work is more important than personal interest now), i also like to think dante isn't say, self-depreciating, but more like they've accepted that they have so much to live up to and Vergilius has something to achieve and they will not stand in his way, so they're content to just spend time with Vergilius as manager and guide.

and there's that. they don't talk about it after the day. nothing changes between them. they continue on as manager and guide.

the only exception is that now Vergilius is aware that Dante fully accepts that he will sacrifice them for his own goals. yet Dante is content to spend time around him and vice versa (he doesn't admit it)

and isn't that the tragedy?

vergilius, to be aware that something could have sparked between the both of you, yet you cannot afford to cross the line due to circumstances. occasionally imagining what it could had been if the both of you were actually allowed to. how should you feel when the other person still seeks you out and befriends you despite knowing that you will never pick them

and dante, getting the confirmation that you will never be picked and will be the third or fourth or whatever choice but that's okay. manager and guide is enough, you WILL enjoy whatever there is between the both of you without asking for more

personally, unrequited love as a tragedy is not effective to me bc it's not that hard to respect another person's feelings and not make yourself the victim.

the REAL tragedy here is being aware of the lost potential and what-could-had-beens, yet IN SPITE OF THAT theres the quiet acceptance and humble enjoyment of whatever there is between the both of them bc that's all they can afford. how fate and the city fucked them both up. yet they stay professional because they respect each other too much (to the point of suppressing their personal feelings for the other) to make this into a hassle

maybe dante dies at the end of limbus and verg would reminisce on what it could had been. maybe verg dies and dante occasionally recalls the little moments they get to spend together. maybe they both die. maybe they both live but they walk a too different path to ever converge again. maybe we slap canon in the face and let them survive or meet up again in the future.

whatever it is, i just really enjoy the sweet sweet pining between the both of them throughout limbus company. the horrors of Knowing. i'm going to bite something

i don't know how to say this, 'cause you're really my dearest friend because it was my first time writing a chaptered fic like this. and i think i fucking nailed it HAGSJAKFF. i've had people tell me i converted them into becoming swiftli shippers from it which is such an accomplishment for me AHSOSLFKS also i fucking love writing kiss scenes hahahha and i think i'm damn good at them LOLLLSOFLDKFKF🥰🥰🥰💖💖💖

This might be a bit of an intrusive question, so zero pressure to answer, but what’s your favourite tropes and why? (Feel free to reply to only the first part, I recognise the second is somewhat often private and personal) (P.S it’s FragileWriter - functioning technology is brilliant!! I can go on apps again! Whoo!)

In the name of fairness, one of my all time favourite tropes is the comfort element of character A fiercely protecting and defending B in their abscence; bonus points if they scheme and plot to bring B’s enemy down - but the icing on the cake is if B walks in and is left stunned at being sided with. Undying loyalty all the way, but also I just love the comrade of people being so loyal to one another that they’ll defend each other no matter what.

It’s kind of healing to write tbh 😅

Characters bonding around a warm, cosy fire via trauma stories and deep personal conversations complete with humorous exchanges is another favourite. Again, I love the unity aspect and I’m not one for small talk so I love getting into the nitty gritty.

Plus, there’s something almost symbolic about characters being in a secluded or isolated place, left to fend for themselves in the elements and forced to be in the dark, but surrounded by the light and warmth of friends or begrudging company. I like when characters are forced to be vulnerable with themselves and one another, or rather, when they choose to be.

so in response to my fav trope (i have several but ill just pick a few). i LOVE genre clashes!! i love throwing a tragedy-built character into a romance, or a childrens-comedy-built character into a murder mystery thriller!!! i think exploring how two opposing things mesh and fill in each others cracks can be so fun!!!! (like when the childrens comedy character escapes murder by the culprit bc their looney toons physics defies mortality)

i ALSO love whump where one character just has the everloving SHIT beat out of them!! i find it so satisfying to write and read for some reason <3 soooo good every time. satisfies my little lizard brain hehehehehe

another is when character a is just so down bad and stupid abt it for character b, and even better when its mutual. idiots in love <33333333

weird one for the last one: i love when character a has been kidnapped, all their loved ones plan a rescue op, and then character a manages to unkidnap themselves-- ITS SO FUNNY EVERY TIME!!!! (best example i can think of is suicide squad remake where harley quinn rescues herself and encounters the rest of the squad mid-rescue, but ive written several of my own before that too)
