every once in a while i have a brief little flash of an scp phase & i wanna scream a little abt 049 bc maybe . perhaps there is someone out there who gets what im sayin

049 is and always has been my fav bc he’s a weird little freak and i love weird little freaks. but i feel like i’m kind of alone in how i view his weird little freakiness. a lot of content with this character revolves around him being Cool and Dark and Mysterious - which to some extent he is !! his design and voice and the fact nobody knows wtf his problem is are all very neat & interesting . however. i feel like a lot of people either disregard his actual personality in favor of aesthetics, or overcompensate & exaggerate his personality to a degree where it’s no longer true to the character

i feel like the former is more common & is most of his depictions atp - people see a Spooky Doctor character who wears all black and has a voice like his and go “ah yes he must be this super mysterious apathetic quiet cool guy” when he’s ,,, not? like the mysterious part i get but he isn’t like that on purpose, & everything else just . isn’t true? like, i wouldn’t say he’s an extrovert by any means but he does clearly take at least some enjoyment from talking to people every once in a while & is a very animated speaker*, & he’s pretty easy to read emotionally - he might not be a super touchy-feely type, but you can tell when he’s feeling a certain way abt something

like idk i’ll admit 049 is a difficult character for me to really put into words but hopefully this makes sense so far? like he doesn’t really fit into the archetype he’s constantly getting shoved into - there’s a lot of contrast between his external presentation & the actual content of who he is as a person, and it’s smth i really like abt him & also think is a really neglected part of his character. a lot of people write him not as a Person but as like a generic slasher villain & i think that is very unfortunate

anyways, i also mentioned people overcompensating on this, & what i mean by that is like. people making him Overly silly. y’know focusing way too much on “i am the cure” jokes & making him out to just be some funny crazy guy etc etc u know what im talking abt . i’m sure i don’t really need to explain much why i’m not particularly fond of this it just sucks a lot of the fun out of him, i think it’s way more interesting to go down the path of “he genuinely knows something the foundation doesn’t.” also i think a lot of these depictions of his character can end up falling into the category of horror that’s just “haha look at this mentally ill guy isn’t that scary” which is obv bad for its own reasons & is just. boring tbh. again this is difficult to put into words but hopefully u get it !! he’s way more compelling as a character (& a horror monster !!) if u take him seriously & don’t just disregard him as crazy

Who He Is As A Person is probably my favorite part of his character (it makes him fun to dissect & play around with !!!) & is also something that’s consistently tossed aside in favor of either spookiness, silliness, or sex appeal, & there are very very few depictions of this character that i actually like because of this. am i alone on this

ough itd be cool if there were more queer rep than just like a few characters using they/them !!! i personally like transmasc enby sapphic pin! {so not projecting trust} i think like at first {during like bfdi-bfdia} she tries to conform to the norm and stuff so shes like super sassy, tries yo be super girly, ect. but then since shes been through so much during bfdia, she sorta just,,, stops caring about how she presents,, i think this could happen like around like during the final stretch of bfdia?

then like during idfb shes sorta just. there. only wearing whatever she has, not really caring anymore, then maybe as bfb starts she kinda slips back into old habits, theres these new people she barely knows anything about, and shes been thrown back into competition,,, so she begins to try and present acceptably again.

then as tpot starts, maybe she can realize "hey maybe i dont... need to do. that" and just kinda chill doing what she wants now, sometimes still dressing feminine, coz who can resist those pretty flowy dresses? and sometimes just throwing on whatever she has. but now, shes comfortable not thinking about what others think, and its all for her.

I don't have many complaints with Pin. I adore her story in BFDIA and her relationships with the other contestants. She makes for a great villain and it's clear that somewhere between BFDIA and IDFB she becomes a better person. I'm leaning into believing that someone's going to call her out and she's going to realize how badly she's been treating others.

My one problem with her is how they handle her disability-- her lack of limbs. She loses them in early BFDIA, has this disability throughout her villain arc, and then gets them back by swapping them out for her pigment before IDFB once her arc is over.

Redux!Pin's character proposal:

In BFDI, Pin is rather mean-spirited, but clever and resilient. She's fierce and confident and good at what she does.

This carries over to BFDIA when Woah Bunch forms. However, interacting with Donut and Coiny makes her realize she can have valuable friendships. She's gone from doing challenges for herself to doing challenges for them all.

But FreeSmart is getting on her nerves. They do things that hurt her and her team. They practically make her an inanimate object. She lets her frustrations out-- she's vengeful and vocal.

It accumulates in PointyPointyPointy when FreeSmart steals her music. HER work to progress. They CHEATED their way to the end and Pin WON'T LET THEM WIN.

She is TIRED of the disrespect. She is TIRED of taking it easy. She TRIED being nice and it DIDN'T WORK. She TRIED playing fair and it DIDN'T WORK.

So she won't.

Screw them. She'll do what is right by her and Coiny, even if it means being dirty. She ensures they're put up for elimination and REVELS in it.

Cut to BFDIA 18. Woah Bunch is disbanded by Golf Ball. Coiny says the line:

"May the best player win."

I don't know how her redemption is going to play out in canon. During IDFB she'll start exploring her identity and reflecting. She's been so focused on the game that she rarely ever thought of who she is and now she has a chance to.

She gets her pigment removed. She's going to start fresh.

She gets it back before BFB, perhaps due to being recovered, and stays red for the game.

She's concerned about what others think, too. Sure, there's other outwardly trans contestants but.. god, she doesn't know.

She's got sass but has become nicer. She genuinely cares about others and supporting them.

I think I have to flesh out more of BFB before I'm certain on what I want to do with her there.

In TPOT 2 she's hard against cheating(or what she sees as cheating) because of her behavior in BFDIA. Two is fine with the glue, so...

Coiny and Pin also have that moment in TPOT 2 where Coiny says he enjoyed how BFDIA went and had fun-- Pin argues against that. She's not proud of her actions and the worry of being like that again is still present. It's weighing her down because it never left her side.

She knows on some level that she doesn't need to care about what others think... But it's there, a quiet concern.

In TPOT 2 she'll learn to ignore that again. It doesn't matter.

If so... she can be who she wants to be. That applies to her looks too.

She gets her pigment removed again. It's time to start fresh. It's time to let go of her past actions.

She tries out different decorations throughout TPOT up to her elimination.

Pin will eat anything with paprika. She LOVES paprika.

She's loved collecting tokens since BFDI!

gavin: couldn't decide between rehab and in my feelings because theyre both just so him (and by that i mean fanon him cuz there really wasnt much to work on) 'in my feelings' because I can just imagine him to all' of the lyrics ('Sobbin' in my cup of coffee 'cause I fell for another loser' and 'Who's doper than this bitch, who's free-er than me' in particular) and rehab is a little looser of a connection, it stems from this story that ive been sorta writing that focuses on gavins relationship with alcohol aswell as his friendship with tina, and I just feel like rehab really captures his reluctance to give up the many different problems he has in the story like drinking, smoking & drugs rk900/nines: i dont really imagine he listens to music but but i kinda associate him with the pre-chorus in 'In my feelings' by LDR with the 'get that cigarette smoke out of my face' and the bridge with 'got me feeling so blue, making no sense at all, gotta leave right now' sooo duet with gavin...? 'shades of cool' (u may have noticed i like lana songs by now!!) also really matches nines IMO, the song is about her own pain and disappointment but but it also centers around this flawed love interest she wants to fix and understand, but ultimately can't, which to me just feels like nines and gavin, atleast in my own hc's (can you guess my fav ship yet) connor: whilst this song (a human's touch) could generally apply to all androids in dbh I connect it most with connor, especially in the second verse; "We were still going strong I never did you wrong Until the new me came along It was just you and me We were such a good team But now I’m alone on the boulevard of broken screens" Listening to this, I can really imagine him talking to Amanda after being introduced to his successor, the RK900 ('the new me') - I also can imagine the boulevard of broken screens being in reference to the graves of his previous bodies and I just think thattt hits yk, + whilst the second verse applies to machine connor more, the craving for human touch (connection in general) feels rather apt as by becoming deviant he has severed ties with Cyberlife, causing him to be pretty alone so yeah kara: I can just imagine her, alice and luther all singing country roads together in a car during the summer and it just warms my heart sm like its just sooo cuteee <3 I can also imagine her being a fan of Adele's music in general, I can't really explain why but she just seems like the type of person to be reaalllyyy into adele (me too) (+ i know age as a concept isnt a thing for androids really but adeles music appeals to a large age range making her music appealing 2 families so maybe im connecting adele n kara because of that) markus: I feel like I don't even need to explain history has its eyes on you... i mean come on.. but ohhh emmm geee!! 'run boy run' also feels like it needs little explanation, just listen to the song/look at the lyrics and youll see the connection north: I don't actually have any meaningful reasons for these songs but I just feel like north would like them but I guess 'breakin' dishes' is the one I thought about most because I can imagine her acting similarly in the same situation soo yeah chloe: Chloe doesn't really have a lot to work on with her extremely limited appearance in-game so this is completely based off a fic i read lol, where chloe was in a relationship with kamski but only in private because of his concern for his image anyways, in 'a loving feeling' mitski sings about feelings of loneliness in a relationship where her partner only shows affection alone and yeah that just feels like chloe n kamski to me!

i watched all of higurashi gou and the end of sotsu. i will post my review

these are my thoughts after watching gou, just copy-pasted from discord.

i think the actual worst thing abt gou is the fact that its not unwatchable. it does have some interesting parts, and i am a huge sucker for the antics the main crew gets up to. but in general its disrespectful? like to satoko especially. i can believe that her and rika drift apart a bit at st lucia, but rika is too committed to making sure everything is good forever, i really doubt she would just like not talk to satoko sure i can see satoko being like no im fine i dont need any help but rika knows her. she would know thats a lie and they'd talk it out overall its very dedicated to making satoko be really dense.

and the same for sotsu

honestly, i think the loops/eua didnt need to happen at all. in fact, in my head, none of it was canon. even the ending felt pretty dumb of like "oooohhh, we're the only 2 looping entities, we gotta avoid each other foreverrrr" like man shut up. its trying to hard to be toxic yuri but it just sucks bc its 2 characters that shouldnt be going thru that. what i CAN believe is like. either satoko and rika going to st lucia, getting into a physical fight over it, coming to terms with the fact satoko doesnt like it and its hurting her so she transfers from there to the normal high school the others went to. OR them getting in a fight over it beforehand and agreeing to go their separate ways to 2 different schools. eua felt completely pointless honestly. the loops were so... nothing. also i feel a little weird abt the teppei redemption. not that he cant change and stuff but yknow............................ also they literally remembered satoshi so last second and threw him in there HNFDKHDFNK "oh im awake now!!! :D" its been 4 years man the fight scene where they go thru different loops was pretty cool i guess. kind of felt waaaay over the top though when they went super saiyan miko mode. its cool for what it is, but also, it feels so excessive based on everything else in higurashi. honestly gou/sotsu probably wouldnt be.......... horrible? if it were its own anime and the vns didnt exist. but they do and so these just kind of.... really tarnish them imo. which is why i dont consider that shit canon. also its just weirdly abusive to hanyuu for no reason. idk what thats all about. she literally only got to have 1 good moment the whole fucking series. wadda hell man. the only good things i think gou brings to the table is a peek into their futures a bit, like what happens after w their middle/high school lives. the rest of that stuff didnt need to happen though im thinking abt it all and how little the main cast really got to talk to satoko and rika thru all this shit. when it came to that plot, its like the rest of them didnt even matter. you're telling me rena wouldnt pick up on satokos feelings and talk to her abt it??? how they wouldnt like try to figure out whats going on at all? its stupid. it focuses way too much on rika and satoko, neglecting the importance of the others. ultimately, i know why this anime was made and what its purpose is. i know its to appeal to the much larger audience of higurashi fans anime onlys that were in it for the cute girls killing each other. it was trying to do stuff for the vn readers as well, but it just fell flat bc in the end none of that shit needed to happen. i know its stupid to criticize a story on what should or shouldnt have happened, but you know. knowing what i DO abt the characters and how the vn stresses the importance of talking to your friends to work out your problems... it just, sucks that they threw that all away in favor of a ton of gore. at the end of the day, im not like, mad or insulted this exists. its whatever. plus it puts some higurashi merch back on the market so not everything is ultra rare 20 year old figures for $700. it doesnt really exist for me, as a fan of the vns. i dont even think its horrible, it had some enjoyable parts to it. its just not good, is all. thanks for coming to my higurashi essay.

for sotsu, genuinely it felt like i didnt need to watch the first 11/12 episodes. yeah, it provided new perspectives and included how things got that way, but... i read the summaries of those episodes and got the gist of it all. if i had more respect for the plot they were going for, i might've watched em. but i dont like it! it was a really weird character assassination of satoko.

i can believe her behavior to some extent- not wanting to lose her best friend but not wanting to subject herself to constant misery in an academy she cant keep up with. again, i feel like eua didnt need to exist, and they couldve actually worked it out from there. especially if they let anyone else like... matter? let them talk and reason with their friends?

tl;dr if you like the vns, generally gou/sotsu isnt for you i'd say.

just finished season 6!!! idk how i managed to do that in such a short period of time but yay

once again here are my thoughts:

i liked season 5 way more sorry not sorry. there are some storylines this season that i really enjoyed but personally i loved season 5 and the insight it gave us into these characters and their traumas

the blimp emergency was really boring and stupid. were they even trying???

last season i was missing the med school storyline for hen. well this season i got it back! i dont really know how to feel, obviously im glad that hen isnt becoming a doctor and leaving the 118 but she worked so hard on it, it makes me sad. on the other hand she was and will in the future once again be a fantastic captain and i loved how both her and karen gave up some of their old dreams so they could fulfill their new ones.

i absolutely loved the episode with the explosion at karen's work place, i loved getting the insight into how they met and got together and eventually took in denny. i love these two and i love chim for being an awesome friend and wingman for introducing these two. once again, chim being a wonderful friend

the storyline about the little girl that went missing in athena's hometown??? oh my god, i love that they resolved that, giving her closure for that part of her life as well. i knew about a third of the way into the episode who was at fault, but it was still very interesting to watch and i loved seeing it get resolved.

can they please stop giving maddie the domestic abuse calls? that poor woman.

eddie struggling with chris growing up and leaning on buck for advice. maybe ill just die????

the episode of that famous actress just being involved in accidents again and again was hilarious, honestly her and eddie should remain friends. i wish we saw more of the 118 having friends outside of the team ngl

denny?? i dont love that storyline, mainly because to me its clear that he should've just ASKED about his biological father. they clearly gave him the info about his biological mother, what was the problem with the other parent? very confused by it. also the biological father keeping this from hen and karen is so fucked up. i would've forbidden them from seeing each other at least for a while because that was fucked up from both of them. why did denny seemingly not get punished for lying and sneaking behind his mothers' back?? i truly dont get it, like yeah he wanted to know his father but the problem is sneaking around and lying because its DANGEROUS.

ngl the lightning scene always looked more dramatic in the edits, but holy shit the coma dream was wild. buck leaving it because he knew, no matter what, he couldn't bring back bobby. he might be able to fix the rest, but not bobby. and him not telling the real bobby in the end what had happened to his coma dream counterpart? i am about to start crying again. i loved seeing that his parents apparently are capable of caring about him. hopefully the show actually shows the parents apologising and growing and learning.....

chim and maddie buying the murder house is kind of insane. i mean it looks super cute but its insane. what the fuck??? also love the spontaneous family reunion....albert has a point but also what the fuck???? i love chim, he deserved better. if this show insists on trying to fix the character's relationships with their parents they better remain consistent with it and not forgive and forget after one episode.....

buck suddenly being a math genius after the coma is hilarious. doesnt make up for the lack of clipboard buck this season though

chim going back to the academy and getting ravi.... god i missed ravi so much, i want him as a main character or at least to show up MORE OFTEN than he is now. i love chim, i love seeing him work through his trauma of kevin dying, even just in the smallest way. and would love to see that one recruit that quit the academy actually work at dispatch.

so um.... eddie is going back to dating because his aunt wants him to? because his family wants him to? because that's what everyone is expecting of him? because that's what he learns he's supposed to do? because everyone is telling him to?... right. going to the golf club to find women to date....funny. i love marisol!!! she is so cute. what a shame that eddie is gonna traumatise her :((

oh my god almost forgot about the sperm donor storyline. honestly what a mess. i dont like it. clearly buck was the wrong person to do it, because the look on his face when he saw the baby that was biologically his??? i wanted to d!e.... what the fuck. why would they do that to him..... thats so fucked up. also having him help the mother of the child for... weeks???? and then also assisting in the birth of said child???? JAIL. what the fuck. what the fuck.

natalia apparently "really sees him" after she asked him about dying??????????????????? im so confused about why he felt so strongly right away, he needs some therapy. like she is super pretty and super cool, dont get me wrong!! but it was one date... dude, get up.

the proposal storyline... not my fav but i loved maddie being the one to propose to chim!! that was adorable, i love the two of them together sososososo much..... and i love jee! she is adorable, especially when she drove buck crazy when he was babysitting her.

the catastrophe at the end of the season couldve maybe gotten dragged out more, with more stations assisting and without having chim, an experienced paramedic, moving around and removing an object that pierced him from his body, the one thing he always tells victims NOT to do. it could've be done a lot better i think, even if buck was really cool during it.

also getting this ask made me realize how much i actually talk about angel and how most information regarding him is already kinda out there, they have their own tags being #🎸🎤 or #🎸🎤 rambles. So if theres anything you wanna know specifically then you can either find some stuff there or ask about it lol, I really don't mind :]]. I will say though that a lot of his lore involves like, unhealthy relationships and topics like self destruction/delusions. Or at least for the stuff i've already put out there.

Thoughhh Angel was originally just gonna be a oc [semi self insert, i don't fully enjoy the idea of "me" being in any sort of media, which is why i normally make fan ocs] to just ship with Gideon probably, or Lucas. I lowkey have a crush on some of the scott pilgrim characters and wanted to just be self indulgent and ship him around. I didn't think much about plot until I really started focusing on the Evil exes because i like them so much. Though because I kinda knew they probably wouldn't interact with each other outside of just being part of the league and planning I decided to come up with a shitty comic where they're all discussing their plans and Angel 1.0 is just... there. He's not one of ramona's exes ofc but Gideon decides "fuck it, the more people there is, the more likely my plan is gonna work".

I can't fully remember when i decided to go a different route with it because i was dissociated for 2022- early 2023 im pretty sure. I think the change from him just being a shits and giggles throwaway fan oc to a form of some sort of projection and a way to reinforce the idea of why the evil exes are EVIL was as a result of being in the mini Gideon fandom at the time. This was before SPTO was officially announced and like, released obvs, but I noticed that they [realistically being like 2 people, hiiii oomfie if you read this] would really take Gideon's character seriously and analyze the SHIT out of him. Since i thought they were cool and really wanted to be mutuals with the main gideon blog at the time™, I decided to take my own character more seriously, though i didn't do too much with him. Angel was just kinda there to interact with ONLY Gideon I guess [plus i was brainrotted and had nobody to rp with so i would just use C.AI smh]. So i came up with Angel's and Gideon's relationship with each other first, which is why i talk about it so often. I also just wanted angel to fit into the universe of scott pilgrim somehow and I felt like directly shipping him with his "new personality" and my newer understanding as Gideon as a character was too bold. I've never been a huge fan for changing character traits for other characters [not for me at least, i applaud selfshippers tho].

Though i don't fully remember why i made that switch or that time in general, I do know that once the anime was officially announced [or i think it was a trailer, cause i knew of it before, i just forgot] I knew most of the evil exes might've been based off of their movie counterparts [going based off of Gideon's design in SPTO]. after knowing how good the comic was with handling their characters and how the movie kinda watered them down [i still kinda like the movie as its own thing] I revisited the whole "Angel knows all of the Evil exes" idea and started thinking about his relationships [including platonic] as a way to reinforce WHY the evil exes were evil in the first place. So far i feel as if his relationship with Gideon, Todd and Lucas are all fleshed out the most, even if some are more basic than others. Ik for sure he has platonic relationships with Roxy [duh], Matthew and the Twins, though not all of them work out. Eventually i realized the idea of Angel being constantly victimized was just boring and repetitive and would give the idea that "Angel did nothing wrong". It would be just sad and not do anything, especially when Angel himself has problems of his own. Plus in most of his relationships, he's not always a victim to anything. arthur : unfamiliar with how a lot of Human Things work, but is intensely familiar with how Emotions work and knows how to manipulate people. typically rather calculating and smart. pretends not to be interested in things generally but is deep down. very curious guy. both sarcastic and straight to the point if that makes any sense. worlds most autistic beast

finn : very silly and also very dense. cares about Everything a little Too Much typically. very confident and flashy but is actually scared of everything all the time. he has the ultimate goal of Having Fun. loves to fuck around and find out. very different men here

after the initial shock of a massive fluffy red eyed monster showing up outside his window wears off, i do think finns goal would be to befriend and possibly kiss this thing on the mouth a little. he is a monsterfucker To Me even before he meets arthur, but the combined fear of 'intimidating demon thats being a little too friendly to me' and 'omg :3 omggg' would definitely be fun to witness lmao. arthur would have to earn his trust over time and gradually they'll get more comfortable with one another. adjusting to his presence and eventually enjoying it. etc.

they've created this limbo, like i said, where they're being so overt, and yet insisting that they want their privacy, and i think to understand that one has to understand that they've always been like that. they wrote fanfiction about themselves in 2015, despite being living examples of how rpf can severely impact people's lives. in their fics, their relationship was platonic. they put their writing in their book which they then sold to tens of thousands of people, and they recorded dramatic readings of the stories for their channels and raked in the ad money. in no way do i think the fact that they've been capitalizing on the shipping for a decade makes it okay, but i do think it's important to consider. as someone very cool and well-spoken described it to me, "their whole bit is the elephant in the room." so i think it's a very strategic decision to keep their relationship status private, even though they are going to have absolutely no problem getting views for like. couples content etc lmfao.

(and im not going to go too deep into this bc its speculation and i respect their privacy so much more than i used to at 15, but i think it's also worth mentioning how much emotion must be tied into the concept of outing their relationship. there's the reckoning with the fandom that's going to have to happen, there's the really annoying and embarrassing part of having to admit that everyone was right all along, there's the massive amounts of scrutiny - and probably mainstream attention as well - that are going to be laser focused at their relationship, and also like... in the section of his coming out vid where he talks about phil, the only time dan refers to him in the 3rd person (as opposed to "we"), he says "them" and not "him."** this was years ago, but it speaks volumes to me about how uncomfortable and scared he still is about speaking openly about his attraction to men in more than in general terms or at a remove (talking about celebs or characters), which is also shown by the weird lil dance he does when saying "actual soulmates." there's such a difference between being open about how you think dudes are hot, and admitting to everyone that you are emotionally vulnerable about a same-sex partner. again, this is speculation based on my own feelings, but i do think it's at least part of the bigger picture. there's a difference between being gay as an individual and being gay in relation to someone else in terms of how society views and treats you, and i think they're hyperaware of that, because how could they not be.)

overall, they've genuinely been through the kind of hell regarding their relationship that very few people have ever experienced. in some ways, their situation is unique. mostly, that post i made was commenting on the semi-annoying, sometimes almost insulting, but fully understandable way that they're acting about their relationship. the entire situation is so deeply fucked that i do genuinely believe they've earned the right to have a little fun at their audiences expense (while the audience is even also in on the joke). because tbh its VERY funny that they haven't gone public yet.

And You Think, "No Escape" (ongoing) GEN – i'm a few chapters behind on this one bc life kicked me, but very good gen fic thus far! mainly focused around the previous overblotters in a weird sidequest treasure hunt forced by some bad guys, with trey and cater in the BG tryna help their situation. VERY long chapters and updates very regularly, so would likely provide a good amount of content

Night Raven Kindergarten (ongoing) GEN – cater is the main char, but he and trey are kindergarten teachers for a selection of the cast as kids!! VERY cute and fun, and delves into the kids' lives at home in rly heartfelt ways that hit, the problems feel nuanced and well-written, and the chars all feel so themselves. whitenoface is the author and i like a lot of their work, i'm recing another work from them later on

Briar Scion (ongoing) Idiasil – p long idiasil fic where the story itself is rly what caught my attention, and now im along for the ride. the premise is rly interesting where essentially like,,, nature itself loves silver, and wants to marry him? so nature is encroaching on school turf while interpersonal romance happens around the plot, its a fun concept! yuu is in it in the bg a bit but its not like,, self-insert or OC, so hopefully u won't mind. updates regularly!

when we don't have the words, chocolate can speak volumes (completed) Idiasil – cute, 30k or so idiasil!! largely focuses on the second years as a group working at the mostro lounge, as silver asks for advice from them respectively and idia works up the nerve in the bg to come in to say hi to silver. mostly just a cute silly story, not as intricate a plot but a fun read!

The Queen's Court (completed) Catervil – first of all, azurith is a FANTASTIC writer, and i highly recommend literally anything they've ever written. this rec branches beyond this fic, but this was my start. this covers cater interning for maleficient herself, and then delves into his newfound connection to the draconias while covering fae history and previous war, etc, it's FANTASTIC and this lore is upheld in a lot of their other work. "Enchanted" is another ongoing work by azurith with cater as a diasomnia student, updates regularly and is very good!! azurith is largely a catervil writer but i think their work is far more important than a preference for ship, i'd rec even if u don't care abt catervil

Snow Is Falling (completed) Cater-focused – idk if u can tell but i like cater interacting w diasomnia content, this is where he goes to briar valley for winter break instead of back home! around 15k, just focuses on his interactions with the diasomnia people while staying with lilia and silver, p short and sweet but v nice :D

devoted malediction (orphaned) malledeuce – of all the fics on this list, this is the one ur most likely to skip. i found this on a WHIM while scouring every existing diasomnia ship tag and was so stunned at the audacity of someone to ship malleus and DEUCE, and to write 140k+ words abt it, that i had to read it. i can't explain it with words,,, the writing style reads so differently than anything else i've ever read, it reads as a STYLE rather than simply reading as 'well-written,' it rly kept my attention. essentially, it's a ...human? au? they're coworkers at a game dev studio, they're human but there's still magic, i can't explain it. there's underground plot-shit with the magic factions or whatever that's so interesting, but it IS orphaned so it'll never update again. i'm devastated. i can't sell this fic to anyone bc of the ship and the length but i enjoyed it very deeply and i'll miss it

Fath-- I mean, Lilia (completed) lilia & silver – ALSO by whitenoface, very sweet familial content of them through silver's life. a 10k must-read for a diasomnia fan

Even a Vanrouge Must Rest (completed) lilia & silver – VERY short and VERY sad but i am legally obligated to rec this. i'd be a bad diasomnia fan if i didn't, very heartbreaking and touching story

Crocodile Teeth (completed) Silsebe – sebek overblot story, decent length and p well written, sebek is infuriating which is Correct for sebek and Correct for someone on their way to an overblot. i've read most of magicalfish's work but i can't rec most to u due to nsfw, this is one of the better silsebe fics out there!!!

Just Out of Reach (ongoing) Silsebe – it DOES update, just not on a regular basis. VERY VERY good fic that FEELS slow-burn, it's 50k+ so far and still feels like the build is just starting up well now. essentially, silver and sebek get in a big fight and lilia magically makes them stay side-by-side till they understand each other, so it analyzes how despite their closeness in their upbringings and how they are partners in their roles as malleus's knights, they don't rly get each other yet and need to cultivate their relationship so it doesn't crumble. very nice story thus far and i look forward to updates!!

been thinking about some stuff. kinda have a direction of where i want to go, at least in terms of what i want to be able to do. i have a lot of things i want to do but i think it focuses to a point in singularity which is wanting to be resilient and being capable of solving problems. not others, but my own.

some stuff that's been on my mind:

+ being able to be Adult enough that i can help parent my nephew (he's extremely spoiled and my parents - his grandparents - don't know how to handle him other than placating him; they're also very tired and don't have much patience so they want him to stop tantrums immediately which means giving into what he wants)

+ manage anxiety attacks / spikes (get more useful coping skills) as an aside, i feel like its not that my feelings are the issue but the thoughts that come when the feelings arise are so chaotic and vaguely threateningly overwhelming that i cant make a sound judgement solely through my instincts or intuition anymore (when normally thats how i make decisions, and i have a lot of trust in myself when i do so. but i see that its not a useful mode of operation to have all the time)

+ get a sustainable income so i can make my own health decisions without guilt / fear and to pursue hobbies

+ rekindle my passion for writing and creating things. which i actually have been spending a lot of time doing because ive been listening to a lot of videos about d20 seasons and seeing so many cool people make cool stories and characters really inspired me a lot

+ overall i just want to be able to be hopeful without feeling like im just lying to myself. that is, i suppose, what coping is? or at least that's how i cope. lotsa lying to myself that its okay (while thinking that it won't) and everything is fine (while believing its not actually fine). i also rely a lot on hard stances to solidify my thoughts into a straight orderly line, which ends up becoming black and white thinking. and it narrows my vision a lot of the perspective of what is viable possibility that can be good / productive / useful and what am i "buying into" that i hazardously undermine the negative aspects of.

+ i guess i just want to slowly figure out who i am. i think i was in a rush to figure things out that made me cast a wide net of all variables and perspectives that shaped my experience and then putting a magnifying glass under each individual factor, but it made me lose the forest for the trees and it paralysed me because if i look too closely into things, ill realise the weight of it and its not something im equipped to handle right now atm. i think its just something i have to bookmark but not put away, like its something to come back to when im able. i dont have to figure it all out right now, especially when im not able to put things into the right contexts and perspectives yet

+ i want to have more energy for things i like. i left off a lot of things because i didnt have the energy for it bc i was so Afraid of not having enough energy to escape out of bad situations. but i think ill just have to try and trust my body that if im in true danger ill be able to handle it when the time comes.
