WandaVision Commercials
Do we think the guy from the WandaVision commercials is Mephisto? Or whoever is behind this sitcom reality? Perhaps another entity other than Mephisto?
It’s interesting that the actor, Ithamar Enriquez, is in the two commercials we’ve seen so far, so it is a reoccurring role.
It seems very likely he and the commercial woman (Victoria Blade) will continue being “the stars” of the WandaVision commercials in future episodes, as I imagine each episode will have these commercials or will have them as long as this sitcom reality stays alive.
The Commercial Man is a minor role, but also a prominent one – as these commercials literally cut away from everything else and are pretty isolated.
These commercials also have prominent references to Wanda’s past.
- The Stark Toast Oven beeped like a bomb about to go off, like the Stark missile that almost killed Wanda and Pietro, but was a dud. The oven also has the first introduction of color (red) with its flashing light.
- The Hydra or Strucker Watch is named after the man who experimented on Wanda and Pietro, with the mind stone, which resulted in them having powers.
Also, Wanda’s sitcom reality being in actual episode format with commercials – seems to confirm that Wanda or at least her subconscious is in control. Or I guess, it doesn’t really confirm that idea, but it does give some more credit to the idea that Wanda is not only creating a happier life with Vision, but remembering a happier time --
Back to when she was kid and she would watch old American sitcoms with her family in Sokovia.
I don’t know if Ithamar Enriquez will play Mephisto, but perhaps the commercial man is just a disguise of Mephisto’s.
The Commercial Man is a part of this sitcom reality, but he isn’t part of the Westview reality.
Also, both the Stark toaster oven and Hydra watch might be counting down to something, as they both sped up towards the end of their respected commercials.
Maybe there is some kind of time limit at play? Whether it’s real or imagined is unclear at this point.
I don’t know. I’m just throwing some ideas out there.

A Series of Unfortunate Events Season 2 | TV Show Review
Summary
After the loss of their parents in a mysterious fire, the three Baudelaire children face trials and tribulations attempting to uncover dark family secrets.
Source: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4834206/?ref_=ttep_ep_tt
Thoughts
As much as I binged the remaining of A Series of Unfortunate Events Season 2, I have to admit that I enjoyed this season lesser than the first. There was something about the first few episodes (in this season) that dragged the show on. I thought the flow of the TV show was agonizingly slow, it was my background noise until ‘The Hostile Hospital’ started. If not for the last two stories in this season, I might have suffered through this entire season...
Plot
I gotta say, I am bored of never seeing a happy ending for the Baudelaire children. Considering that fact that A Series of Unfortunate Events concluded with three seasons, I knew not to expect any happy endings yet. But even without expecting that, I was bored out of my mind with the cycle of the Baudelaires presumably winning before getting their hopes crushed by Count Olaf, and when he thought he was going to win, the Baudelaires beat him only to come to yet another unhappy ending. It was getting extremely repetitive, and therefore contributing to the depletion of my enjoyment.
Here is what I thought while watching the show:
‘The Austere Academy’ – BORING
‘The Ersatz Elevator’ – would not have been boring if not for the anti-climatic villain reveal
‘The Vile Village’ – still slightly boring but definitely more entertaining than ‘The Ersatz Elevator’
‘The Hostile Hospital’ – was creepy, slightly scary and very engaging, I LOVE IT
‘Carnivorous Carnival’ – my second favourite story in this season but one of my most hated endings ever
Now you see why I expected to dislike this entire season to begin with?
Cast (characters, character development and cast’s acting, etc.)
I really loved the addition of Olivia Caliban (Madame Lulu), almost as much as how much I disliked the addition of Esmé Squalor.
Let’s first begin with Olivia, shall we? This woman was simply altruistic. Her character was written so well done for the show. I admit (even without being an actress myself), acting the role of a kind lady was not the hardest but there was something in the way Sara Rue portrayed Olivia that completely won me over. It was the voice Rue used and those eyes when she looked at the Baudelaires. It’s always the smallest actions that prove the most, and those small attributes Rue made sure Olivia had, they played into her altruistic self.
And on the other side of the spectrum, there’s Esmé... Lucy Punch did a good job playing Esmé, but Esmé was such a boring villain. The only time I could accept her being a villain was during ‘The Hostile Hospital’; especially that scene where she chased the Baudelaires in the hospital’s library. Unfortunately, that was it. I never thought Count Olaf was ever worthy of being called a villain but even Count Olaf was a more entertaining villain than Esmé.
I have decided not to discuss about the Quagmires yet but we need to talk about Hector. I honestly don’t care about Ithamar Enriquez’s acting ability. What blew me away was how nicely his character, Hector, was written. Hector only appeared in those few scenes but it was enough for me to love this character. I do not want to spoil myself but I really hope he appears more in season 3 without meeting any more tragedy.
Conclusion
When I first began this season, I was so disappointed and I really thought it would take me longer than I actually took to finish watching this season. Then ‘The Hostile Hospital’ came on screen and things changed. The show did not seem to move slowly anymore, and it was utterly entertaining after what I would describe as a dry spell (not in the sense you’re thinking about).
For a season that had more episodes than the first, the team could have done something about their entertainment level. Or, at the very least, create better characteristics for Esmé.
Yes, ultimately, I still enjoyed A Series of Unfortunate Events Season 2. However, I can enjoy a show and still criticise parts they did not do excellent in.
Rating: C+

Lady Bird

What’s up Victory Lappers? It’s been waaaaaaaay too long since we’ve last seen you. And while we’ve done a few shows here and there over the past few months we finally have a BRAND NEW SHOW we’re announcing right here, right now.
It’s The Comedy ‘N Wrestling Connection hosted by Victory Lap favorite Matt McCarthy. Matt’s been on our show tons of times, and we’re pumped to be collaborating with him on this brand new production. Luckily, we have the help of our friends over at the Silver Lake Independent Jewish Community Center (SLIJCC), who have been gracious enough to provide the space for this killer show.
Even better, we have a host of new and returning performers on board like Aparna Nancherla, Johnny Pemberton, Brandie Posey, Josh Fadem, Joe Cobden, Ithamar Enriquez, Vince Averill, Tom Sibley and our very own Stu Jenkins. We assume they’ll be funny as hell, and are hoping they don’t hurt each other with any wrestling hijinks.
Come check out The Comedy ‘N Wrestling Connection on January 19 at the SLIJCC -- 1110 Bates Avenue in Silver Lake. The show starts at 7:30pm and tickets are only $10. SEE YOU GUYS THERE!!!

Several years ago I started taking portraits of guests on my podcast, “ADD Comedy with Dave Razowsky.” I've been touching up the photos with new software. This is Frank Caeti (@FrankCaeti). Frank is a Second City alum who was a cast member and writer on “MADtv." Frank also been on “Key and Peele,” “The Jay Leno Show,” ““The Craft Store,” and “Reno 911.” He directed Second City etc’s 45th revue, “The Best Decision You’ve Ever Made”; “Love, Factually” at the Kennedy Center; “Date Me” which ran off-Broadway; and the terrific “Ithamar Has Nothing to Say” starring Ithamar Enriquez. Frank is a mensch and a very funny man. #RazTakesPix #portraitphotography #rollieflex #blackandwhitephotography @addcomedydave #improv #impro #blackandwhite #addcomedywithdaverazowsky #portraitphotography #portrait @thesecondcity #thesecondcity #madtv (at Los Angeles, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/Capb1Talehd/?utm_medium=tumblr
