Itachi x reader
~party~ summary: it’s your birthday and itachi just wants to do something special for you. but he doesn’t have any ideas so he ends up asking your best friend…
A/n: some cursing, also itachi is obviously aged down a bit to fit readers age. btw Konan is gonna be a bit ooc in this
Tumblr media
”are you doing anything for your birthday y/n? cus if not maybe you and me, itachi, and some of our other friends could hang out!” your best friend konan suggests. “well I dunno… I thought maybe itachi was going to plan something nice for me but he hasn’t said anything yet.” you say sadly
“come on I’m sure he’ll do something romantic” she wiggles her eyebrows at you. “girl, don’t pull shit like that I know yahiko’s a simp for you” you laugh
“yeah, yeah” you and Konan hop up from the stone ledge near the river and start walking home.
“my birthday is in 3 days. don’t you think he would’ve said something?”
“I told you already! I’m sure you’ll be fine y/n.” I smiled at you
“aight well then I’ll see you at training tomorrow bbg” you wink at her. It was always a joke that you both ‘flirted’ with each other.
“back atcha” she does those cringy ass finger gun things and with that she shuts her door.
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Itachi hesitated as he held up his fist to konan’s door. he finally knocked and braced himself for the usual stone face expression.
“hello?l she asked in confusion as she opened the door.
“hey, i uh wanted to ask you something.” Itachi scratches the back of his neck.
“oh sure. well let’s make it quick. I was working on something earlier.”
“yeah but can I come in here? I just don’t want anyone else to hear.” Itachi whispers.
“alright come on in.” little did they know that you were watching the whole interaction from afar with wide eyes.
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• “hi baby how was your day?” Itachi walks up to you.
“eh” you reply dryly
“do anything fun?” “not really”
“are you ok?” Itachi’s voice was laced with concern. this was weird to him. Usually you were talkative or even all over him especially if you hadn’t seen him all day. something was up.
”nah I’m just tired. I’ll probably go to bed soon.” just like that you disappeared into your room for the night. Itachi sighed and got up. he figured he should rest up because he had a lot of things to get done tomorrow. like prepare for your surprise birthday party.
Itachi awoke the next morning feeling energized and ready to plan your party. He had went to Konan’s room last night to ask her about things you like so he could make your party extra special. since you were both part of the akastuki you could never really do anything fun like this so he thought it would be nice.
He took off his akatsuki cloak and put on regular ninja clothes to go into town to pick out a cake, decorations, and your present.
after he got all of that take care of, the uchiha talked to the rest of the akatsuki members. (they were all your friends since you obviously lived together) and told them about your surprise party. you were training with Konan at the time as you’d promised yesterday. when the day was over itachi went to your room to hopefully cuddle tonight. You guys did have your own rooms but you’d mostly sleep in each other’s rooms so you could cuddle. “Did you have good training time today y/n?” He asks
“yeah” you were again being very dry and you overall just seemed annoyed to him. what did I do? He thought to himself. “well… since we haven’t in awhile maybe we could cuddle in here tonight?” “I’m kind of sick so maybe not.” You never once looked at him the whole conversation. You were getting changed and didn’t blink an eye the poor uchiha.
“oh, alright. goodnight then baby” he pressed a kiss to your temple and walked away. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• it was officially the day of your party (aka your birthday) and itachi wasn’t sure how it’d play out. After all, you’d been ignoring him for days. “deidara, pull this up!” Sasori yelled to the blonde. “what’s this?” He asked.
“they’re just streamers now come on i can’t stand here forever!” meanwhile hidan and Kakuzu set the table. Everyone had a job to make your party perfect. “alright everyone we have-“ Joann checked her watch- “6 minutes left!” Itachi left Konan in charge while he distracted you. “Y/n can i show you something?” Itachi asked you.
“what do you want?” You reply snarkily.
“wow, what’s going on? The past few days you’ve been mad at me for no reason.” Itachi says carefully, as to not poke the bear.
“‘wow what’s goin on?’ You know damn well what’s going on itachi!” His face went pale right then. How could you know about the party? And why were you upset about it? Did you not like surprises? Did you- “well? Are you just gonna stand there or what?” You put your hands on your hips. “y/n, i didn’t know you didn’t like surprises i-“
“surprises? Oh yeah you cheating on me with my best friend was definitely a surprise!”
At this point you didn’t realize everyone was standing fr in your doorway until Konan Said
“what?” “you know damn well what I’m talking about!” She grabbed your shoulders and pulled you to see all of the decorations.
“surprise?” she and a few others said weakly. “oh my goodness” you cover your mouth with your hands and look at itachi
“I never… I didn’t- why? how?” “I don’t know where you were going with itachi cheating and everything but the only reason you might’ve seen him come to my room was so I could help him plan all this.” Konan explained.
“I am so so sorry!” You started sobbing until you felt a warm hand pull you into their chest.
“shh, it’s ok. I know it might’ve seemed sketchy that I was hiding things from you. But I love you so much and you deserved this special party.” “oh, ‘tachi will you ever forgive me?” You ask quietly
“y/n.. it’s ok, really.” He chuckled. “oh, itachi don’t you wanna..” konan trails off. “Oh, right!” He ran over to his room to pull out a.. blanket? No. A ball of fur? A puppy! “OH MY GOSH!” You run over to him.
“you really shouldn’t have!” Itachi smiles again.
“well I know you’ve wanted one forever. And you could let him roam around if you want. He’d be kind of like all of ours pet in a way.” You kiss itachi. For the first time in awhile.
later that night you and itachi were cuddled up in his nice warm bed with your new puppy, aika, laying in sulfur lap. “Hope you had a have decent birthday”
“it wasn’t half decent. It was the best.”

Presence - Itachi
Not my best work, but it was initially supposed to be shorter. I got a little carried away... Anyway! Happy birthday to our lovely Itachi 🖤 6.9.24 ao3 ver: x
“Where the hell is everyone…?"
Shisui couldn’t help the smirk that crept up his face. You were definitely new to the family. The Uchiha were infamous for being late — significantly late — even himself. The exceptions were always Madara's events, however... but regardless. The only reason he was on time, in fact, was because it was his younger cousin’s birthday, and for once, someone put something together for him. "They'll come."
Which was why he liked you, really. Dating 8 months wasn’t a long time, but you always made sure Itachi was taken care of. Itachi hadn’t celebrated his birthday in easily over a decade, and he was none the wiser that the family would be getting together.
You’d contacted all the family members he was close to and asked that they show up to his birthday dinner.
Shisui was relieved that he would be celebrated for once. Itachi was 7 the last time he celebrated his birthday, and since Sasuke was so young at the time, he monopolized the day. (Not that Shisui could blame a literal toddler.) Sasuke had unwrapped all his presents, blew out his candles, and played with all of his new toys first. Shisui still remembered the soft smile on Itachi’s face as he watched while he did.
Itachi was a giver. Always had been. But it’s clear you were too, which, in Shisui’s opinion, only made you more compatible.
Mikoto and Fugaku had arrived second, as Shisui had been first — well, technically you were first, but you didn’t count, since you arranged things. He’d been five minutes early, and Itachi’s parents had been two minutes late.
It was now twenty minutes past 5:30, the meeting time, and no one else had arrived yet, not even Itachi. He had an excuse, though — and technically, so did Sasuke since they were together. Technically, though, they were still late. Thank God for Shisui. If he hadn't been there, you would've had to endure 45 minutes alone with them before someone else showed. It still wasn't Itachi. "Well, this is hardly surprising," Izuna said, pulling out the seat next to Fugaku, who had taken Mikoto to the restroom. "Give it another half hour," Shisui said. He engaged his uncle in conversation, and then within the next fifteen minutes, Obito showed with a gigantic bottle of Itachi's favorite red wine in hand. Shisui suddenly felt a little bare as he'd given his present the week before, but he knew Itachi preferred presence to presents anyway. "If they don't get here before Madara..." Fugaku grumbled to his wife, a scowl on his face and his arms crossed. "Relax, dear. They wouldn't keep him waiting." You bit down on your lip. You weren't so sure. You spent the next ten minutes blowing up Sasuke's phone to no avail. The family had started to order appetizers and were slowly digging in (although Obito wasn't taking his time).
When a text from Sasuke appeared that they'd just arrived, you nearly jumped out of your seat. It was nearly impossible to contain yourself, but just as you went to rather loudly announce their arrival, Madara walked in. The table stood as he walked over, and they all exchanged their greetings. When he sat, everyone else followed and returned to eating. "Where is he?" The chime on the door rang out, and everyone craned to look at the door. You grinned, unable to help yourself this time around. You hopped up and hurried over to Itachi, his hair left free, billowing softly from the opening door. As your eyes connected, his white teeth flashed in a grin, and his eyes trailed behind you, where Shisui followed. His eyes went further, focusing in on the long booth in the corner. "You didn't..." You giggled and wrapped your arms around him. "I did." It had been 5 years since he'd seen Madara... and he'd shown up for something like this? He hugged you tighter than ever before. "I thought this was just the four of us..." "You were talking about how your family never gets together anymore, so I wanted to make it happen for you." He smirked and let out a small huff. Weren't you the observant one? "Thank you, (Name)..." Without shame, he pressed three tender kisses to your forehead and held your hand as you walked to the table. The expression on his face as he saw his entire family wasn't one you'd soon forget. You closed the restaurant down, laughing, drinking, and non-stop talking. It was absolutely incredible to see such an esteemed family get rowdy with one another, and Itachi himself had gotten rather expressive from Shisui keeping his sake glass full. You drove him home, took a relaxing bath together, and surprised him with a second, more explicit gift. Truly, though, it could've stopped at the dinner and the gift card you'd bought him despite him telling you no gifts.
You were a giver, after all.

Itachi Birthday Story ( Fem Reader X Itachi)
Here is a small story for Itachi's birthday. I hope you enjoy. Itachi and Sasuke deserved so much better..
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You were a Jonin ranked shinobi from Konoha and you were taking a break from the shinobi life. Or at least that is what you told everyone. You told them that you were taking some time off to go see family in other villages. Which wasn't totally a lie. Your father was from another village, and had family up in the north . You were leaving Konoha. As of late you had felt a heavy shift in Konoha, and you only stayed for one reason.
Itachi had asked you too. You were Itachi's eyes in the village, and would send him messages every so often. You wrote to Itachi telling him of what was happening with the village, and what Sasuke was doing in his current time with Team 7. Because of that Itachi knew Sasuke was on a team with Naruto, and Sakura Haruno. Itachi was also aware that Kakashi Hatake was Sasuke's sensei. But now you felt like your time in the village was over. You loved Konoha with all of your heart. You were born , and raised in this village. Even after the death of the Third Hokage your trust in your goverment had started to wane. The atmosphere in the village had become heavy. Itachi had asked you to stay up until Sasuke left to find his brother. And you had. After Lady Tsundae's coronation as Hokage , Sasuke had left the village. You didn't tell anyone where you were going. In fact you hadn't for the last two years. When not on missions you and Itachi met up at least once a month. Itachi would summon you, and you both met up. But after several discussions it was your choice to follow your heart. Of course Itachi tried to talk you out of it. But you were firm in your choice. It wasn't that Itachi didn't trust your skills. As long as Itachi knew you he knew you were a excellent shinobi. But Itachi had many enemies that could do serious harm to you. Even so you didn't falter.
<> <> <> <> <> <> <> <><><><><><><><><><><><><><<><><><><><><><><>
It was June 9th when you left the village. You remembered it was also Itachi's birthday. Even when he didn't seem to care for his own birthday. You still remembered. When you left it was night with a dark inky sky filled with stars, and a half moon. You walked through the village only stopping to get a small present for Itachi. You quickly left before anyone noticed you, and you headed towards the path going towards the only entrances and exit to the village. You didn't look back as you passed through the gates leading out of Konoha you were met by a loud call of a crow. A crow sat in one of the trees outside the gate. Your large black bird escort flew off its perch, and into the sky leading you to where you would meet Itachi. Even now Itachi was cautious knowing the life you had chosen to be with him. The life of a rouge wasn't going to be easy. You knew many would call you a traitor to the village. Continuing through the dead of night the crow you were following stopped flying into a tree. You found Itachi standing on the edge of the cliff that over looked the village. You didn't need to say anything as you approched him. Once you both were standing side by side did Itachi finally say something. " Are you sure ? " Itachi asked something you had heard several times after you asked him to come with him. " Yes." You answer. You feel a arm pull you towards Itachi as you both continue to look down at the village. It could be the last time that you ever saw Konoha, but it was important that you left. You knew Itachi didn't have long in this world, and you knew that your time together would be short. But you still loved him, and wanted to be there with him until that day came. Seeing you were still serious you both stepped away from the over view of the village. But you don't go very far as you both find a place to sit down. Itachi had already traveled a good distance to come and get you. And it was a good time for you to give him your present. " You didn't have to get me anything.. I have what I need now." Itachi told you . " Then I might have to eat these without you. " you tease Itachi as you take out a package of dango you had picked up earlier. You giggled until you felt a tap on your head when you looke back at Itachi. Finally you both share Itachi's birthday treat. You both are smiling at one another and Itachi kisses you forehead. " Come . We have much to do. Once that is done we can celebrate. " Itachi tells you taking your hand leading you into the night leaving Konoha behind. You both travel until you come upon a small village and stop at the inn to rest for the night. It also gave you, and Itachi a chance to have a meal, and Itachi's birthday dangos you had gotten him in Konoha. In exchange Itachi also gave you a gift. Something that would symoblize to those around you that you were Itachi's now, and forever. It was dangerous for you to be wearing a Uchiha crest, but Itachi had gotten you a necklace with a gem that was half red, and half white. " Will you be mine forever ? " Itachi asked. " Yes.' You answer holding the necklace in your hands before he took it from you, and placed it around your neck. " I love you. " you said to Itachi " And I love you. I may not always show it but know I'll always love you ." Itachi answered you as you both fall into a kiss. You felt Itachi pick you up and carry you to the futon waiting for the both of you. " Ready ?" Itachi asked you. " Yes." you answered. " Itachi.. " " Hm ? " Itachi questions. " Thank you for being born today." you say as he kisses you again celebrating your union.

New Things and Misunderstandings - Naruto Omegas x Alpha!reader
A/N: Happy birthday @omeganronpa !!!! I can't write more because ow, but yay, it's your birthday! I don't know what this post is, I just picked a few of your favs and wrote about misunderstandings lol, but I hope you like it anyway lmaoooo ❤️🩷🧡💛💚💙🩵💜🤎🖤🩶🤍
Warnings: Just some innuendo lol. And me thinking I'm funny, that needs a warning.
Naruto
Tumblr media
*Sakura, Sasuke, and Naruto having a drink together*
Sakura: It's your birthday soon, right Naruto? Do you have anything special planned?
Naruto: Uh, not much. Work is crazy, y'know?
Sakura: Ugh, you don't have to tell me. I haven't got my birthday off from the hospital in four years.
Naruto: Yeah, it sucks. I'll probably just spend the evening at home with my alpha. I was thinking of asking for a quickie or something.
Sasuke: *grimacing* Tmi, dobe.
Naruto: What? I've never had one before, so I thought it'd be cool to try.
Sakura: Naruto! No one wants to hear this.
Naruto: Why? You don't like quickies? I always thought they looked tasty. I mean, they aren't ramen of course, but I always get birthday ramen from Ichiraku, so I can't ask my alpha to make it.
Saskue: ...
Sakura: Naruto, spell quickie.
Naruto: Um, okay? I think it's Q-U-I-CH-E.
Sasuke: 🙄
Sakura: 😠
Shikamaru
Tumblr media
Alpha: *in the middle of a chat with Kiba* -and Shikaku was so hot yesterday, it's kind of crazy, y'know.
*Shikamaru suddenly walks in, home from work, overhearing*
Shikamaru: What 😐
Alpha: Shika! You're home!
Shikamaru: What 😐
Alpha: We were just talking about how the aircon has given up in the jounin headquarters. You must have heard about it. The common room wasn't too bad once everyone opened the windows, but I was just saying that your father was suffering a lot in his small office.
Shikamaru: *visibly relaxing* Oh, I see. Yes, for once I've been grateful that Naruto keeps me in Hokage tower most of the time.
Alpha: Yeah, I bet!
Shikamaru: Okay, I'm going to take a shower upstairs, I'll be back in a bit. *Shikamaru leaves*
Kiba: ...
Alpha: ...
Kiba: Good save.
Alpha: Thanks 😅
Lee
Tumblr media
Lee: *sighs sadly*
Alpha: You okay, baby?
Lee: I... Do you think I'm intimidating? To our fellow Konoha shinobi I mean.
Alpha: I mean, I would hope that they have a healthy respect for your abilities, but I don't think people find you unapproachable. Why do you ask? Did something happen?
Lee: I overheard some people talking in the jounin common room. They were saying that they could suffocate in my thighs... But I would never hurt them like that, even in a spar. Do you think they're... afraid of me? 🥺
Alpha: ...
Lee: ...
Alpha: Oh, baby, no.
Shino
Tumblr media
Shino: *visibly relieved* Alpha, you're back from your mission!
Alpha: Yes... Is everything okay?
Shino: No... it's Shihori. I'm... I'm worried about her, but I didn't know what to do and you were away and I was scared I'd make it worse so-
Alpha: Woah, slow down. What happened? Is she okay?
Shino: She's... been drawing things. Horrible things. I don't know where she's getting it from, I didn't want to ask in case I made it worse! What do we do??
Alpha: Deep breaths, what sort of things has she been drawing?
*Shino anxiously opens a drawer and pulls out a stack of drawings. They depict large, scary creatures. A brown bear, a purple rabbit, and a yellow chicken. You immediately remember hearing your fellow parent shinobi complain about the latest horror video game trend that became popular with children*
Alpha: Ah. It's Freddy.
Shihori: *overhearing from the living room* YOU KNOW FREDDY, APPA?!?!
Alpha: Of course. And Bonnie. And Chica.
Shihori: 🤩🤩
Shino: 😧
Itachi
Tumblr media
Alpha: Oh, hey, you're back from reconnaissance. Did you catch them doing anything suspicious? Pein seemed really sure there were our guys.
Itachi: No. Unfortunately, they both kept entirely normal schedules for the day, as far as I could tell.
Alpha: Damn. So we came all the way out here for nothing?
Itachi: Not quite. While their conversation was mundane, I believe they may have been using a code.
Alpha: Seriously?
Itachi: Indeed. They mentioned at one point that their compatriots had been 'sixty-nining' each other. I believe that might have been code, although I am not sure of it's meaning.
Alpha: ...
Itachi: What?
Alpha: ...
Itachi: You recognise the code?
Alpha: *suddenly remembering that Itachi had no friends as a teenager and parents that taught him how to dismember people instead of teaching him anything about sex*
Alpha: ...I'll explain on the way back 🫠

masterlist | pairing: itachi x reader publish date: 03.28.24 warnings: itachi is annoying and reader is exasperated. you deserve a raise.
Tumblr media
“Do you have any plans Saturday evening?”
The speed in which your head comes out from under your desk is record breaking. You'd been working in comfortable silence for over an hour and the sudden noise is startling. Reorganizing your workspace meant going through old files which led to you awkwardly retrieving some that had ended up on the floor — so you couldn't be certain that your boss was speaking to you. Surely there was a client in his office that somehow got past you, regardless of how late in the workday it was. Or maybe he was dealing with an unscheduled phone call. Or maybe the tightly wound man had finally cracked and was talking to himself.
Or maybe something came up and you'd both be sacrificing yet another weekend scrambling to get contracts fulfilled and signatures on the dotted line. The thought fills you with dread and you once again think about how unfortunate you were to be salaried.
You crane your neck to look into your boss' office and can't help but crinkle your forehead in confusion when you're met with an amused look. Both of the large glass doors to the space were propped open today and your employer was currently watching you with a slight curl to his lips. There was a file in his hands he'd no doubt been reading, partially obscuring the way his shirt had become un-tucked and wrinkled. His suit jacket was long gone and his sleeves were rolled up, making you wonder where exactly his cuff links were. He'd been wearing a rather expensive pair you bought for his birthday last year and if they were just sitting out getting scratched up by his glass desk you might strangle him with the tie that was loose around his neck. Which you also conveniently bought for him. Strands of dark hair were starting to come loose from the low ponytail he always wore, falling almost elegantly around his face.
It was completely unfair how effortlessly handsome Itachi Uchiha was. You'd almost be bold enough to call him pretty.
There's a pregnant, almost awkward pause as you continue to furrow your brow
“I’m not sure, I’ll have to check.”
You’re greeted with silence and a perfectly arched brow, him obviously wanting you to check now, and abandon your efforts of reorganization to stand and grab your phone. You're honestly dying to ask why he wanted to know but you’ll only be met with a bored look instead of an answer. Rolling your eyes to yourself while checking your calendar, you miss the way Itachi's mouth curls at your obvious annoyance with him.
A quick flip through your work and personal calendar confirm that you were completely free on Saturday. A rare occurrence.
Something told you that he already knew that.
“I’m free, why? Did Kakuzu finally get back to you?” You toss the words over your shoulder, snorting at the ridiculous email you’d just been sent by a newer business partner. They wanted what felt like twenty four hour access and at the level they were at, they might receive a quarterly sit down. You type out a professional and very sweet no to their request for a last minute meeting before turning and walking into Itachi’s office, flicking through the slew of emails you received since last checking.
Stopping right as you reach his desk, you glance down and immediately notice an extremely fancy envelope. It was thick and gold and shiny and very out of place in the otherwise grayscale office. You'd once said the space felt drained and lifeless, to which Itachi had responded with a comment that sounded like less distractions before handing you a heavy pile of client needs. The evil glint in his eye had been more than enough to warrant a barbed comeback of some sort but you'd rewarded him with a nod and a too-wide smile, already plotting petty revenge.
That entire following week you made sure to only use neon-colored post it notes you borrowed from the new girl downstairs to communicate with him; sticking them all over his computer, desk, and even his door. He never commented on it but you'd caught him glaring at a few neon pink post its and would sometimes hear the paper shredder working overtime.
To this day you still occasionally left him a colorful note when you thought he needed cheering up. Or when you felt like being obnoxious.
Itachi inclines his head toward the gaudy thing while barely looking away from the file in his hands, clearly not going to explain it or himself. Your lips curl to show your annoyance and you pick it up, noting how heavy it was. Further investigation shows that it was already opened and you pull out the glossy paper, eyes widening marginally.
It’s an invitation.
To a gala.
“Itachi ... what is this?” you ask, flipping it over. The date was scrawled on the back in elegant cursive, as well as the location and other impertinent details. Itachi's name is at the bottom, along with room for a plus one, and you blink when you recognize the logo stamped at the bottom.
It was an annual fundraising event frequented by artists, actors, CEOs, musicians — pretty much everyone rich and important that you could think of. This event could be described as the gathering of the year and it was something your boss routinely skipped. You’re almost positive you’ve already emailed the event coordinator to mark Itachi down as a no with some excuse you made up to keep up appearances. He hated events like these and pretty much had you automatically declining any and all invitations extended to him.
You lift your head back up and deadpan at the look he’s giving you. There's the barest hint of a smile on his face and his eyes betray the amusement he's feeling towards your apparent confusion. Itachi didn’t speak unless absolutely necessary which left you to interpret all of his subtle looks and the annoying twinkle in his eye spoke volumes.
It’s obviously for you his perfectly sculpted brow communicates and this time you make sure he sees you roll your eyes.
“You want me to go?”
His lips twitch as he hums, confirming your suspicions, and you blink.
“Are you going?” You question, frowning and tracing your fingers over the delicate raised writing. He made a sizeable donation every year — maybe there were expectations of an in person appearance now.
That still didn't explain your part in all of it.
Itachi’s eyes dance as he speaks, closing the file in his hands and turning his full attention to you.
“Yes. Your attendance is not required, but it is customary to bring a date to these sort of things.”
A breathless laugh escapes you.
“A date.” You repeat, falling back into one of the chairs that faced his desk, finally relaxing when you realized he wouldn't send you to the wolves alone. His amused look quickly morphs into the stereotypical Uchiha deadpan and you feel yourself smile, gearing up to tease him.
As attractive and charming and successful as your employer was, the assumption would be that he’d have no problem finding a woman to hang on his arm, especially for the social event of the year. The only issue was that Itachi was terrible with women. From what you could discern from your position it wasn't from lack of experience, you’re sure he could charm anyone with just a curl of his lips and a warm look, but simply because he despised most people he came into contact with. You’d never seen him date or even welcome advances from other women and now …
Now he was forced to ask his glorified receptionist to attend a glorified ball with him. Because who else would he ask? Who else did the impassive, monosyllabic man in front of you know?
It’s honestly funny. You snort and try to cover it up by clearing your throat.
“You’re having trouble ... finding a date.”
Legendary Uchiha eyes narrow at you in obvious displeasure and you hide your widening grin behind your hand.
“I’m sure there's a list of eligible women I can call to escort you.” You tease, knowing that if your boss was anyone else he’d roll his eyes at you.
Your offer wasn't a fabricated one though. Working this closely with the Itachi Uchiha over the years gave you connections you wouldn’t normally have and there were plenty of models and artists, even a couple of actresses, that you could call. No doubt they would immediately say yes at the chance to be escorted by him. You're already making a mental list when Itachi cuts off your train of thought with three words.
"I prefer you.”
The laughter in your belly fizzles out as you gawk at him. Surely you didn’t hear that right. You wait for him to take it back but Itachi doesn’t move. So, you sort of … freeze.
He said it so casually. Like it was obvious. There was a finality to it that left absolutely no room for discussion. He sounded like he meant it.
A curious ringing starts to buzz in your ears as you swallow dryly in surprise. You can only blink and scramble for any kind of response while your chest stutters in muted confusion.
This was dangerous.
Bottomless black eyes hold yours with an intensity you’re not used to receiving, keeping you pinned to your seat. The message there is clear. You weren’t a last minute choice, you were the choice.
You’re not quite sure what to do with that information.
“Be ready by eight o’clock.” He says in response to your stunned silence, face softening and eyes starting to once again sparkle with amusement. It’s rare, that he’s able to stun you like this, and your jaw ticks.
This was very dangerous.
"I didn't even say I was going."
The office plunges into tense silence and a part of you is already scolding yourself for not just accepting the damn invite and moving on. There's something unspoken hanging between you two now and a line you've tried very hard not to think about begins to materialize in front of you. It's a line you've seen before and every time it appears you seem just a little bit closer to it. This time it feels magnetic but you remain stubborn and ignore the pull entirely. The other part of you, the prouder part that enjoys hiding Itachi's tie clips whenever he forgot to tell you about meetings, the part that is typically infuriated with the man in front of you, wants you to dig your heels in. If he wanted something, he could ask. Until then you would stay where you were and continue on, business as usual.
Safer. This was safer.
Only now the silence was going from tense to uncomfortable. You could refuse him — this wasn't something for work. This was, at its core, a social gathering that for some reason Itachi felt compelled to go to this year.
With you.
As his date.
Not as his office manager. Not as his scheduler. Not as his secretary. Not as his assistant.
His date.
There were implications that went along with it that you were trying extremely hard to ignore. You weren’t like the other women in the office with superficial crushes. You wouldn’t go there. You couldn’t go there.
But he was asking.
This shouldn’t be causing you so much stress. Work was work and when something showed up on your schedule, you went. When conferences and mergers came up, you went.
But this was something else entirely.
And he was asking.
The proud part of you finally wilts and you look away with a long suffering sigh.
"Fine."
You're rewarded with a snort and when you snap your head back Itachi is already back to reading the file in his hands, signaling that this conversation was over. You're half tempted to throw the invitation, gaudy envelope included for maximum impact, at his head but instead stand to go put it in your purse.
Itachi glances up when he's sure your back is fully turned to watch you leave his office. You’d worn a pair of slacks that were climbing to the top of his list of favorites and admires the view you offer while mulling over what had just transpired. You'd given in almost too easily and his pulse jumps at the implication. He expected you to ask for something in return, to tease and poke at him, maybe even flat out refuse — and you exceeded his expectations by accepting rather quickly.
Charming, he thinks to himself as you go back to painstakingly reorganizing your desk. The way your mouth had parted and your pupils had blown when he'd told you why he chose you to attend this godforsaken gala with him had been charming. Endearing. Teeth achingly adorable. He savored moments like those, moments where he could bully past the professional and sarcastic buffer you put up. As much as Itachi enjoyed the banter you both had developed over the years, there was something infinitely more satisfying about the raw moments shared between you two. He knows he's gearing up to cross a line that wasn't meant to be crossed between a superior and their employee but he finds himself selfishly wanting more. He's almost certain you feel the same.
Almost.
Regardless, doing nothing had proven to be useless. You two had become close over the years and he could no longer deny his feelings for you. He couldn't smother the burn in his chest whenever you got too close to whisper something in his ear or slid him a ridiculous note during a presentation. Itachi couldn't fight off the weightless feeling that came with you falling asleep on his shoulder at the airport while waiting for the red-eye. He couldn't stop himself from brushing against you as you walked to lunch, couldn't help but pin his partners with a look when they paid a little too much attention to you, couldn't restrain himself from purposefully getting on your nerves so you'd roll your pretty eyes at him or reward him with a exasperated lecture. Time and time again Itachi found himself helplessly being pulled into your orbit and selfishly wants you to feel as he does. To burn like he does.
Distantly Itachi can hear Kisame calling him a spoiled brat and can't help but curl his lips. In regards to you and you alone, Itachi would begrudgingly agree with his best friend's assessment.
You spoiled him with your time, your hard work, your attention. The sweets you kept in your desk for him, the way you juggled his life almost effortlessly, the way you made sure to have his favorite tea stocked at all times. The way your eyes would sparkle when you'd use glitter pens to write in his personal planner, the way you always anticipated his needs, the way you were always there for him.
Itachi owes you a great deal, personal feelings aside, and this weekend would be the first of many occasions he plans to repay you.
All you needed to do was keep saying yes. He's almost certain you will.
Once you fully agreed, once you knew the extent of his feelings for you and accepted them, once you finally let the barrier come down and crossed the line with him, Itachi's restraint would give out and he would give in to everything he's felt from the moment he realized you were more than just another nameless employee at his company.
You just needed to keep saying yes.

Nothing to Hide
Madara Uchiha x GN! Reader
The dawn light filtered gently through the curtains of Y/N's bedroom, casting a warm glow over the cozy space. Nestled together under the covers, Y/N and Madara Uchiha lay peacefully, their arms wrapped around each other in a tight embrace. The secret of their relationship had been carefully guarded for months, their love growing stronger with each stolen moment and whispered confession.
Today was Y/N's birthday, a day they had decided to spend quietly together, away from prying eyes. As they lay in each other's arms, the world outside seemed to disappear, leaving only the warmth and comfort of their shared intimacy.
But outside Y/N's house, a different plan was unfolding. Unbeknownst to the couple, Y/N's friends had decided to surprise them with an early morning birthday visit. Hashirama, Tobirama, Izuna, Kakashi, Tsunade, Obito, and Itachi had all gathered, excitement and mischief written across their faces.
Hashirama, the ringleader of the group, grinned widely as he whispered to the others, "Alright, everyone ready? On the count of three, we burst in and surprise Y/N! One... two... three!"
The door to Y/N's house burst open, and the group of friends poured in, laughter and cheers filling the air. They made their way through the house, calling out birthday greetings, their voices growing louder as they approached Y/N's bedroom.
As they flung open the bedroom door, the jubilant shouts abruptly stopped. The sight before them was unexpected and left them all momentarily speechless. There, on the bed, Y/N and Madara lay intertwined, their faces serene and content in sleep, arms securely wrapped around each other.
Hashirama was the first to recover from the shock. "Well, well," he said with a chuckle, "looks like our birthday surprise has turned into quite the discovery."
Tsunade smirked, folding her arms. "So this is why Y/N's been so happy lately. Makes sense."
Izuna, Madara's younger brother, shook his head with a mixture of amusement and disbelief. "I knew something was up, but I didn't expect this."
Kakashi raised an eyebrow, his usual calm demeanor unruffled. "This certainly explains a lot."
Obito and Itachi exchanged glances, both trying to suppress their laughter. "Guess the cat's out of the bag now," Obito remarked, grinning.
The commotion finally stirred Madara and Y/N from their sleep. Blinking groggily, they looked around in confusion, only to see their friends standing in the doorway, grinning and smirking at them.
Madara's cheeks flushed slightly as he tightened his hold on Y/N, not quite ready to let go. "What are you all doing here?" he asked, trying to sound composed despite the situation.
Hashirama laughed, stepping forward. "Happy birthday, Y/N! We wanted to surprise you, but it looks like you two had a surprise of your own."
Y/N's face turned a deep shade of crimson, but they couldn't help but smile. "Thanks, everyone. I guess the secret's out now."
Tsunade nodded, her expression softening. "It's about time, too. We're happy for you both."
Izuna clapped a hand on Madara's shoulder. "You could have told me, brother. I would have kept your secret."
Madara sighed, a small smile playing on his lips. "I suppose it was bound to come out eventually."
Kakashi glanced around at the room. "Well, now that we're all here, how about we celebrate Y/N's birthday properly?"
Obito and Itachi nodded in agreement, and soon, the room was filled with laughter and conversation as the group of friends settled in, sharing stories and planning the day's festivities.
As the morning light continued to fill the room, Y/N and Madara exchanged a glance, their hands still clasped tightly together. Though their secret was no longer theirs alone, the love they shared remained as strong as ever, now buoyed by the support and joy of their closest friends...

Bells and Black Feathers
Itachi x f!reader
Slowburn. Itachi. OG Naruto setting. I really wanted my first Itachi fanfic to be longer since I’ve never written for him before and I usually only do quick stories. Please enjoy. Also, I apologize for the trauma and angst. But if this receives good feedback, I may make this in to a series 🫢
Bells. Bells were known in our clan as the harbingers of incoming change. We used them during clan ceremonies. Weddings, funerals, even birthdays. I was so sick of hearing bells. It was as if the drone of a metal ball racking around a hollow shell followed me wherever I went, even in to the village. Even worse, our clans genjutsu was hearing based, and you guessed it, we used bells. I almost thought I was crazy when I heard the telltale jingle faintly from beside me. I couldn’t help but check my pockets frantically to make sure mine were properly put away to not send anyone near by in to an accidental genjutsu. It was as if I’d gone crazy, hearing the chirp of a tiny bell pass beside me once again as I bump in to it, my apologies.”
Bells don’t talk, and they definitely don’t have handsome features like the dark orbs that barely even spare a glance my way as they help me up from the beaten path on my way to the gates.
“No, I wasn’t looking. It’s my bad, your bell made me think I was about to endanger everyone here.” I ramble on, completely awestruck at the cloaked man in front of me. Looking down, I can only hold my gasp at the sight of the all knowing red clouds. As a Jonin, we’re trained to watch for and decipher these cloaks to pinpoint the Akatsuki. But why would they be rash enough to lurk on the edge of the village out in the country?
“Nonsense, I believe we both had our eyes on something that distracted us. As it is, I must be on my way.” He replies, not letting even one emotion bubble to the surface as his face stays as still as stone.
“Hey, what’s your name?” I ask, knowing it didn’t matter, he was a threat regardless. But the longer I could keep him here, the quicker I could subdue him.
“I believe that’s best saved for our next encounter. Farewell.” He’s already disappeared as his last word rings through my ears. It takes a second to shake the eerie feeling creeping up my back, but once composure is regained, I’m already breaking in to a dead sprint.
“Asuma! Hey! Asuma, damnit where are you?” I’m calling out to him before even hitting our usual meeting spot for missions, only to be answered with the wind. The only other shinobi with worse timing than Asuma was the only one to show up, lazily sauntering to our spot,” yell any louder and he might just hear you on the other side of the village, Y/N.”
“Listen, we’re being watched. What I’m about to tell you… you have to believe me.” I begin, gripping his shoulder so I can lean in and whisper,” the Akatsuki, they’re in the village.”
“Okay, I know we’re both well versed in pranking but this is a new level. Even for you.” Kakashi sighs, yanking at his ear lobe in mock pain. No, not mock pain… it was the signal that someone was possibly listening to our conversation. I had almost forgotten about it since we never had to resort to it, not for years anyways. It was a trick we would use in our younger years to signal when Asuma or Guy would attempt to listen to our private gossip sessions.
“Anyways, if you’re done fooling around, I’m going to find where Asuma has wandered off to., you stay here just in case Guy shows up early.” He sighs, the only signal that shows he knows exactly where they’re at is his eyes darting to the right in the direction of the river.
“Guy can figure out where we are, I’m coming with you.” I mutter, kicking at the dirt road and tailing directly on his heels. Kakashi spares a glance back, pointing to his eye and shaking his head no before covering it with his hand. I’m assuming it means don’t look, but my eyes wander anyways. I was good at taking in the scenery and doing the opposite of what I was told since I had the means to get myself out of trouble. What I wasn’t expecting to see was Asuma and Kurenai working as a team, yet still struggling against the man who had bumped in to me earlier and a new companion. Kurenai was in the river, looking winded as Kakashi, steps in front of me to block my vision, reaching down to grip my vest,” go find Guy. That’s an order.”
Kakashi stares unyieldingly until I relent, sprinting to the village.
I heave deeply, resting against the side of a vendors stand when I see the familiar and vibrant neon orange leg warmers parading in the air as Guy walks on his hands.
“H-hey! Guy! Come take a stroll with me real quick.” I huff out as quickly as I can between breaths, snapping one of his leg warmers to get his attention.
“Y/N! I was just on my way to the gates to meet up with the team, what’s the hurry all of a sudden? Finally accepting my offer of a romantic stroll? This mission can wait for the sake of love if it must!” Guy sputters out, clambering back to the way a normal human stands. I can’t help but roll my eyes,” sure, yeah. Let’s move it. We got places to be Guy.”
He follows against my tight grip as I lead him to the river, quickly losing my patience as he mutters on.
We finally reach the area once again, seeing not much has happened other than Kakashi looked to be wounded… internally? Maybe winded?
“The river? The perfect place for- Kakashi! No one messes with my rival except me!” Guy gasps out, quickly disappearing from my side. He lands between the two sides, splashing the water as everyone stays at a standstill. After a brief moment of communication, the two Akatsuki vanish, leaving the others to tend to Kakashi. I run across the water, quickly reaching for Kakashi with my medical abilities only to be stopped by Asuma,” he needs to go to the hospital, don’t even waste your chakra. Notify… someone.”
“Who, Asuma? There’s no time to waste, if I’m not needed here, I’m going after them!” I shout, already taking off for the treeline.
“Y/N, get back to the village. You’ll be in worse trouble if you pursue them.” Guy calls out, quickly catching up. I can’t help but laugh,” with what hokage, Guy? We have the chance to take them out now. So let’s move it! There’s not currently a hokage to give us orders and I’m not going to sit around and wait.”
“Y/N, stop. You aren’t even thinking. His genjutsu is unbreakable.” Guy shouts, finally outrunning me to stop me in my tracks. I bluff my defeat, silently reaching for the bells at my side,” I’m sorry, Guy. I can’t let them get away.”
The bells twirl delicately around the metal rod they were strung to carefully by a clan elder the day I was born, twisting around to create a melodious genjutsu even Guy was too slow to release from. Normally, he had warning and could break it in time. But the look of betrayal as he’s frozen in to place, sends a pang through my chest,” I’ll show you the life you wish to have.”
Having to state my intentions of a genjutsu was a downfall, and I cringe at the thought of Guy’s ideal life. But I can only move forward to give myself enough distance with the bells, as once I’m out of earshot, the genjutsu may be broken within moments.
After what felt like miles, I drop the bells back down, taking a brief second to slow down and catch my breath. The sky unrelentingly fades to grey as thunder rolls in,” because why wouldn’t it rain?”
I curse to myself, knowing the seconds before rain were precious in the effort to find any sign of tracks. I drop down to a single footprint that stops in the middle of a clearing, looking around frantically to find another. As my head whips back to the tree I was just in, a bell sounds just beside my ear. Ice fills my veins as I freeze in a slight terror.
“You’re alone.” The man from earlier breathes out. I force myself to focus my eyes to the ground and keep my cool,” yes.”
“That wasn’t a question but thanks for the clarification. You aren’t here to subdue me, you’re here for answers.” He continues, trailing a finger across my back as he circles around me, examining me almost before he continues,” you don’t know who I am, do you?”
“I don’t exactly keep my bingo book on me all the time, I just know you’re Akatsuki. It’s my job to train Genin now, not chase after criminals all the time.” I huff, refusing to look up as his finger prods at my jaw in an attempt to lift my gaze,” I’m not falling for your genjutsu.”
Regretfully, I still look up due to the persistent tug at my jaw, being met with the wondering dark orbs that I’d witnessed earlier.
“If I wanted to place you under a genjutsu, I would’ve done so by now, Y/N.” He drops his hand, revealing the slightest smirk on his face. I confusingly take in his features as I try to figure out why they were so familiar before i land on the mutilated leaf headband that rested against his forehead, sweeping back his raven hair.
“How do you know my name?” I mutter, reaching for the silver block on his headband to run my fingers along the slashed leaf in the middle. His hand is quick to grip mine,” you truly don’t remember do you?”
“Unfortunately, no.” I sigh, regretting that I was fully enamored with the handsome criminal in front of me.
“We were Genin together. Itachi Uchiha.” He says coldly. The realization on how long it took myself to puzzle the pieces together hits like a ton of bricks. But I have no recollection of ever being in the same class, let alone knowing him.
I can only shake my head in response.
“If you can’t remember, let me show you.” Itachi sighs defeatedly, looking directly in to my eyes as his own bleed in to the notorious red sharingan. I prepare myself for a genjutsu, seeing as I find myself back in the classroom sitting at my desk. The day in question is hazy, but I still remember the doodle I was drawing. I also remember the pain I’m about to experience. As if on cue, my broken pencil I was trying so hard to continue to write with, slices my palm. I can’t control any movements, it’s a memory that can’t be altered. My tiny hand recoils in pain as younger me whimpers,” ah, dang it! I can’t bleed on this dress, my mom just got it for me.”
“Allow me.” The young boy beside me bubbles with a rising smile, quickly pulling a bandage roll from the backpack beside him,” my brother can be clumsy so I tend to carry extras just in case.”
“You callin’ me clumsy?” Young me accuses him sharply. I was always ‘abrasive’ as my sensei Shikaku regularly stated during our outings with Choza and Inoichi’s teams.
“Not at all, do you always assume the worst so quickly?” The young version of Itachi questions back. My memory jogs and I can feel my current self mouth the same words I’m about to relive,” I can assume we’re going to be good friends if you’re brave enough to call me out on my crap.”
The scene fades to darkness, sitting at the end of the dock in the Uchiha compound with our feet dangling off the edge.
“Do it again!” A slightly older me shrieks in a fit of laughter as Itachi stands once again, sending a fire ball across the pond.
“The simplest things surely entertain you. It’s amazing.” He chuckles, sitting back down as my body falls against the dock to look at the stars,” you amaze me, honestly.”
I can still feel the heat against my cheeks at the confession I had made long ago.
“Y/N?” He asks quietly.
“Yeah?” I question back.
“Even though we’re still young, do you ever get the feeling we’ll be together forever?” He questions sheepishly.
“We’ll always be friends, that’s not even a question. Don’t be so weird.” I laugh, reaching up to punch his shoulder.
“What if we’re destined to be more than friends?” Itachi continues with his questions, looking over to catch my pondering face,”… we’re still young. If it happens, it happens. We have plenty of years left to stay just how we are. Like you always say, it’s better to wait than spend the rest of your life regretting a rash decision.”
It flickers again, this time it’s my mother, uncontrollably sobbing at the kitchen table that woke me from a dead sleep due to the excitement of finally becoming a chunin,” mom, are you okay?”
I try to rub away the tiredness from my eyes as she shakes her head,” go back to bed, Y/N. It’s nothing you would understand at your age.”
“Try me.” Twelve year old me crosses her arms as I watch my mothers sadness turn to anger,” you think because you’re a chunin now you can handle a tragedy in your own village? Well it’s time to grow up, kid. There was a massacre on the Uchiha compound. The whole clan is dead. Thanks to your little boyfriend, that Itachi kid. Stop putting your trust in others. Start becoming that ‘perfect’ shinobi you boast that you are Y/N. It won’t save our village, it won’t get those people their lives back. You will do so little, it won’t even matter by the time you’re my age, or even your death.”
She burst in to tears once again. Younger me couldn’t be upset at her, she was already upset with herself for having to end her career so early and our father leaving. I let her take that anger out on me, as long as it was never directed towards my sister and she never had to see it.
“W-what’s wrong, Y/N?” I feel the small tug at my pajamas as my little sister clings tightly against my leg. I can only put a smile on my face as I lift her small frame,” moms sad because we aren’t getting the sleep we need, how about I tuck you back in to bed?”
I still feel the pain in my eye sockets from crying throughout the rest of that night. Betrayal from my own mother and someone else I thought I’d loved.
The genjutsu fades once again, unknown scenery flourishes around me. I look down to see I now bear the Akatsuki robe. I look forward to the faceless crowd that slowly comes in to focus, fingers pointing as they all unanimously mumble the word,” traitor.”
It becomes louder as the people begin encircling me, cornering me off like an injured animal on display. Several faces become distinct, my mother, my sister, Shikaku sensei and his friends, even the hokage that had just given his life for the village. As several kunai impale me, the genjutsu turns to red as the pain sets in.
I soon feel the gracious drops of rain replacing the stabbing ghost pains, quickly becoming a downpour, the genjutsu fades completely. I now realize why Kakashi had been so drained earlier, if it wasn’t for the ice cold adrenaline, I would’ve been passed out already.
“As you can see, we’ve met before. We were only mindless children then, cloaked by masks to hide our true identity.” He drops to a solemn tone, tilting his head upwards to bask in the quickly chilling rain before his red eyes flash back to me,” no matter how similar our paths are, our fates deserve to end differently. if you choose this life, it’s only the same. But you risk having your identity known nationwide and your idealistic life thrown away. Do you choose to face death everyday? Do you choose to betray a village you call home?”
In the time it takes me to blink, he’s now mere inches from my face, hand outstretched,” if you can say yes, your heart is in the wrong place. Turn around and go back to the leaf. Do not pursue me any further, Y/N.”
Two of his fingers ghost over my brows for just a second, I can barely notice the thoughts running behind his tired eyes, but the slight flick of his view to the left gives him away. He decides to retract his fingers, and drapes his other hand to rest over the top of my head while I drop to my knees. My Jonin vest feels heavy with rain, maybe even regret that i didn’t even remember one of my closest friends as a child, maybe even my first love, but most of all the one who made it seem I wasn’t capable of loving anyone else.
“How could I not remember anything you just showed me?” I babble, looking up to his now normal eyes as tears bubble at my lashes, only to be concealed by the rain.
“Because It was a burden I relieved you of. You should be thankful.” He answers coolly, refusing either of us the blessing of breaking eye contact. I flick a collection of tears and water angrily from my face,” younger me was in love with you. We loved each other. You can’t deny that.”
His eyes trickle down to the hand fidgeting with the metal rod at my side, his face illuminating against a streak of lightning,” You’re a fool to think an auditory genjutsu would even begin to work on me.”
“No, but metal rods are great conductors of electricity.” I seethe, reaching my musical rod above me to the sky as I grip his arm that still rested atop my head. It was a weak last ditch effort, i couldn’t subdue him, but I could at least kill us both. As quickly as the white steak shoots down towards us, we’re transported further in to the forest. My hand is slightly burnt, but I find myself furled tightly in Itachi’s arms, back to his chest as his cloak billows around us in the increasing winds. I chuckle slightly,” so, you do still care about me.”
“Nonsense, I just prevented you from unnecessarily ending both of our lives.” Itachi utters out, clearing his throat.
“Bullshit. You could’ve let me fry in that lightning strike and saved yourself, easily.” I assert my dominance, twisting in his arms to face him as he refuses to let go. He looks down, smirking as he smoothes away a few strands of hair that cling to my face,” if I could love as easily as I fought against others, you would’ve been mine the day I bandaged your adolescent hand. This however, is not a life for love. My destiny is to die and I refuse for you to have any part of it.”
“Then just give me this moment.” I exhale, bringing a hand to rest on the side of his face,” I’ve just learned about you all over again and I refuse to let you leave without a word just like when we were kids.”
“You seen what I did to my clan.” He reminds me quietly.
“And for some reason, I feel like your hand was forced in to doing it. The Itachi I just witnessed loved his clan. He loved the leaf village. He defended the village he betrayed.” I share my quick observation.
“This conversation is over.” Itachi warns, squinting his eyes in remorse and possibly a hint of anger. I just knew I was right. And if I’m able to return to the village, I’ll have some research to do.
“If you don’t want to talk about it, then you’ll have to find a damn good way to shut me up, because I have a lot of questions.” I shoot back, anxiety of not knowing the story creeps against my body. And just as I’m about to start my rampage of questions, his lips crash against mine and his hands grip tightly at my shoulders, letting the cool rain water dripping from us both clash together, pooling down to our chins before it drips against the cloak that weakly offers us the tiniest bit of shelter. As he pulls away, his eyes flutter slowly, taking in my look of confusion. Sadly for him, it’s only created more questions, but most of all it also created answers.
“You still love our village. You still love me.” I gasp out looking at the furrow in his angering brows,” and to continue in protecting the things I love, you must not interfere or prod any further. Return to the village before you end up in the same position. This is my last warning, Y/N. Or this will end badly for the both of us.”
He pushes me against my shoulders, sending my body head first to the ground frozen, in a state of shock as the world melds to a red haze. Just as I hit the ground, an inky black feather drops on my face, restarting the chain of events over again. And again. And again. Each time I fall, the feather drops, I smack in to the ground and Itachi’s face melds against my vision as the sequence drones on for what feels like hours,” do you wish to be stuck in a loop of constant suffering? Living out your days where every last one is the same, ending with an unbearable pain… just to realize it’ll happen again. And again. And again. This is the constant pain you will feel outside of the village as a rogue. You don’t understand that by pressing further on this matter, by seeking me purposefully after this point, my only choice would regretfully be having to kill you.”
A scream tears at my throat, only to be cut off from hitting the ground again, and after what felt like a whole day stuck in the same loop, I find myself on the ground mere seconds from passing out once again. I look up to see Itachi’s face hovering above mine and feel his knees supporting my head. He swiftly brushes a rain soaked strand of hair from my face and leans in for one last breathy statement,” I truly hope one day you’ll be strong enough to understand. When that day comes, I will be long gone but I will never ask for your forgiveness.”
As my eyes shut, he scoops down for one last kiss and disappears with the sound of a ghost. Silence ushers a single black feather to land against my cheek, allowing me to finally give in to the depleted chakra ebbing towards unconsciousness.
Bells. The pain of having to hear those stupid bells. A single chirp awakens me in a startle, grasping at the sterile white blanket around me as I gasp in the stale air.
“Hey, lay down damnit. You’ve gone and gotten yourself in to enough trouble already, Y/N.” Shikaku sensei grumbles from the bedside, slamming me backwards as gently as possible as he sets my bell staff against the table.
“Why are you here sensei? Don’t you have more important village duties to attend to?” I mumble out, finally relaxing enough to stare at the ceiling.
He groans, pondering what he’ll say next,” with a lack of Jonin from the recent attack, Asuma rang in a favor to help track you so they could get Kakashi Hatake to immediate medical attention. We first found Guy almost six miles from you, stuck in a genjutsu. Wonder who would be rash enough to do that...”
“How’s Kakashi?” I ask, refusing to meet what I assume is his drained and less than pleased face.
“He’ll be in medical care for a while. Same goes for you. You’re almost worse off than him. With how much you two get in to trouble, I’m starting to wonder if you’re related. Anything else you want to ask, kid?” He questions, most likely already knowing the answer. I turn to look in to his unimpressed eyes,” I should ask you that first.”
He finally smirks,” we’ll keep this conversation between us so long as I don’t have to pry it out of you.”
I could always appreciate the fatherly bond Shikaku established since my early chunin days, realizing my own mother could barely provide the support or parental love for my sister and I. Shikamaru had even called me big sister begrudgingly. Shikaku finally parts his lips after thinking on it,” why did you put Guy under a genjutsu?”
So he knew it was my genjutsu after all.
“His taijitsu was too weak against our target. We were tailing the man that left Kakashi in the state he’s in now. I only did it to protect him.” I answer truthfully. It was best to avoid seeing Guy hurt, even if I feel no romantic attraction to all of his… not too subtle advancements.
“So you proceeded to pursue someone as a one person unit you knew you wouldn’t win against? How smart. It’s a miracle you made it back with just depleted chakra and a burnt hand. It’s almost as if the target took pity on you.” He ponders, slowly moving his eyes back to meet mine in confirmed and definite disappointment.
“I was just able to use my staff as a lightning conductor to buy myself some time before being placed under a genjutsu. No one was hurt. That’s all that matters.” I huff out, turning my body completely away in anger before Shikaku sounds off my bells again in contemplation,” a genjutsu user falling for another genjutsu is unlikely, unless this genjutsu came from the power of the sharingan. I also trained my students to not pursue dangerous opponents with those kind of powers. But I know I trained my students better than that, right Y/N?”
“Are you just here to lecture me, or are you looking for answers?” I sneer out, slowly becoming agitated at his sensei personality taking over his fatherly one.
“Both. Just as I and my jutsu are useles in utter darkness, yours is useless when you don’t use your mind to think properly. I think we can silently agree you won’t try and pursue Itachi anymore and you’ll stay here until you’re fully healed. Then we will go through some training. You, me and Shikamaru. Just like old times.” Shikaku chuckles out, revealing that without even telling him, he already knew. I toss my pillow at him in an attempt to stop his laughing,” does this mean you’re old self is coming out of retirement as a sensei?”
“Don’t throw the word old out so loosely. I’m only returning as your sensei because I think your own mind is dulling with age.” He smirks, returning to his fatherly demeanor, but I could still see the subtle look of worry behind the joking facade. I refused to notify him of my actual encounter with Itachi, but he leads me to believe he knew of our past and it’s easy for a Nara to put two and two together.
“Yeah, yeah. Now get out so I can rest up and show you I’m just fine without a sensei.” I laugh out as he shakes his head,” prove me wrong, Y/N. I’m not bailing you out of any future mistakes.”
“I’m counting on that.”
With a final word, he kicks a resting foot off the wall and throws his hands in to his pocket to stroll out the open door nonchalantly. I needed rest, and I was told not to press any further. But I had research to do, even if it was from a hospital bed. I was going to get to the bottom of this, even if my destiny entwines to meet the same bitter end as Itachi presumes his will be.

I am not a character x reader person but this was really cute and stuff like this really gets to my heart and makes me want to write more soft fluff stories with these characters.
This is why making the Akastuki uncles in Cloud was so fun. There is nothing more fun than take bastards and making them good caretakers despite their pasts. I think damaged people with bad childhoods can make good parents because they know what NOT to do.
Some of the uncle behavior in Clouds
♡ Hidan getting put through a door for trying to spank the baby ♡ Sasori making toys including a Akastuki doll set ♡ Deidara asking if a doll in the play food is 'vegetarian' ♡ Kisame tossing the baby in the air ♡ Hidan having 'I don't like kids' energy but letting the toddler take a nap on him ♡ Shark uncle naps ♡ Sasori suggesting they should help the baby walk with puppetry ♡ Braiding uncle Deidara's head ♡ Hidan freaking out when the baby loses a tooth and a spitting blood ♡ Kisame getting the biggest stuffed animal for a first birthday ♡ Hidan begrudgingly holding the baby
Lavender Clouds (Sasuke x Hinata)
Hinata runs away from home into the arms of the Akatsuki. Bonds with Itachi. Saves his brother. Learns to reverse Gentle Fist. Raises a demon baby?
Akatsuki parents? Akatsuki parents.
because I like shoehorning my experiences into my ninja bullshit. Hope y'all enjoy my rambling. : )
Feat. Hidan, Kakuzu, Kisame, Itachi.
Hidan ends up a girl-dad, and a proud one at that, given your daughter is a complete fucking gremlin, just like him. An aggressive toddler that looks like a tiny little sweetheart, with chubby cheeks, gorgeous violet eyes framed by the prettiest eyelashes you'd ever seen, and hair that looks like a carbon copy of your own. Her little smiles are a mixed bag, and you never know whether to expect cute baby affection or chaos that no toddler her size should realistically be capable of bringing into existence.
Nobody expects it when she toddles on up, all tiny, squishy hands and 'awwww, hug?'s, only to turn on a dime and start biting, smacking, or pinching- all while wearing a huge grin that she must have inherited from her dad, or giggling like a squeaky hinge. Babysitters do not last, Hidan finds absolutely nothing more hilarious than seeing another one leave haggard and never pick up jobs from either of you again.
She's a natural climber, knows no fear, and loves nothing more than climbing up onto the back of the couch and waiting. 'Oh no, 'M stuck!' is a goddamn trap. It took a couple pint-sized ambushes, wherein she lunges, catches some serious air, and rams into you or Hidan at full force to learn that lesson. Your natural state becomes STRESSED. Hidan, on the other hand? Constantly entertained. That little girl can do literally no wrong, because, shit, she's just emulating her dad, obviously.
If it's possible for a toddler to be sarcastic, she is, and it's only ever when she's using her manners. One tiny little eyebrow cocked, a crooked smile and cooed, 'Oh, nooo. So-orry!' Hidan has literally cried from laughing so hard, until she turned it on him. One big, angry bitemark on his forearm later, and those tittering giggles and 'Uh-oh, you o'tay? Uh-oh!' felt just a little more irritating than when they were directed towards you. He's even less impressed when you're laughing right alongside your little devil-child.
Older kids tried, once, to pick on the little girl who laughed too loud and played too hard. Unfortunately for them, she's always had a set of lungs and knew damn well how to use them. One blood-chilling shriek- not because she's hurt, but because she knew he'd hear, and haha, there's dad. Big, fat crocodile tears, a quivering pout and squeaky, 'Oh, no!' and it was game on.
Hidan doesn't give a fuck how old a snot-nosed shithead might be, his bullying is indiscriminate and he's had far longer to refine his insults than they have. She's rarely bullied, because word spreads and it's hard for a kid to bounce back from such heated and targeted shit-talk, even harder to bounce back when they watch some whooping, laughing maniac beat the shit out of their dad for trying to step in. You were only slightly surprised, and a little concerned when your little gremlin laughed and squealed over the playground dad on dad beatdown.
Deidara drops by from time to time, and he seems to have as much fun wrangling your tiny little hellion as Hidan does. He doesn't mind the fact that she can be aggressively playful, and takes absolute delight in the way her eyes go wide and shine with awe when he shows off his art. She's fascinated by his hair, and you find some remarkable moments of quiet and peace when she's perched on the couch with him on the floor, her chubby fingers toying with and carding through the golden mane that's somehow smoother and shinier than silk. If he minds the fact that she essentially pets him like a cat, he certainly doesn't mention it. 'Awww! So sof', so sof'.' Between Deidara and Hidan's high energy capacity for mischief, his visits always end up with your daughter properly knackered, and mercifully tame for the rest of the day.
Kakuzu didn't want kids the same way a dad doesn't want the dog his kids inevitably end up bringing home. You two ended up with a daughter, and at some point, somehow, someway, he became begrudgingly attached and takes over everything surrounding that little baby. Maybe it was the fact that when he looks into her eyes, he sees a soft, sweet mirror of his own, moss-green eyes that haven't yet seen the horrors of the world and the awful things that wait within it. Either way, the most miniscule part of him that can still feel love does, and every ounce of it belongs to her. You have your share, but you know that his daughter put the moon and the stars in his sky again.
Your full-time job becomes raising her, the little lady that sees the world with his eyes and speaks remarkably well for a tiny toddler her age. There's not a snowball's chance in hell that he'd trust some random to watch over his girl. You're just lucky that she's an honest delight to raise, although that might be your own bias talking. Kakuzu does a lot of reading with her, and it's almost comical to see a man like him drawling and grumbling through a ten-paged book about a little pig's wild adventures in kindness.
When Kakuzu's balancing books in the evening and she can't sleep, she always seems to find her way to the kitchen table where the old bounty hunter is pouring over expenses and budgets. Tiny fingers count on an abacus while he counts stacks of green, and when he loses count because she's quietly chatting away to the walls and the table and his ears when they listen, he can't even find it in himself to be upset. Not when those pretty eyes turn their gaze to him and she bids her sweet 'uh oh, sorry papa'. For all his power, he can be weak in those moments that make his heart just a little happier.
Innocent, and unacquainted with the temper that almost defines him as a man, she isn't afraid of him, she isn't afraid of him, she isn't afraid of him. Never had she, nor will she ever bear witness to the ugly, vicious face of his short-fuse and hellfire wrath.
That sweet little girl is spoiled, and that's only because she never seems to ask for anything herself. So polite, for one so small. When little green eyes sparkle because they fell upon a pretty dress, a toy, a book that has her oohing and ahhing, a little cup that has a straw 'oh, wow!' and a cute little pig printed on the plastic 'ohh! a piggy! haha, oink oink!' - who is he to turn his head and leave it at that?
She could ask for the moon, and it would be all he could do to bid a slow, pensive nod and murmured assurance, 'It only sits in the sky for you.'
Hidan is a frequent and uninvited visitor, and while normally you'd find that to be cause for concern it's quickly proven pointless to worry given the fact that if Kakuzu isn't grouching him under control, your daughter has a hilarious talent for putting him in his place. Seeing the zealot sat on your couch, being prodded and chided by a girl less than half his size is certainly a sight to behold; hearing her tut and chastise him in a way she must have learned from her dad for putting his feet on the coffee table, shoes on the couch, or his drink on the side table without a coaster is absolutely hysterical. 'Stains are 'spensive! Feet down!'
Kakuzu's sweet little mini-me: breathes
Kakuzu:
Tumblr media
Kisame takes on the dad role like he was born for it, after a small period of adjustment. You two end up having a boy and a girl, and he's practically putty in their little hands. Your boy is huge, had been since he was a baby - which is natural, Hoshigaki kids are just... big, generally. Your girl caught both of you off guard, only because she's so tiny. The sibling dynamic is chaos, but a warm one that always seems to leave Kisame cackling or grinning over something ridiculous those two end up getting into.
Your boy is like a walking clone of his dad, and even as a little boy he's already standing as tall as your ribs. Slate-blue hair as soft as cornsilk, teeth that make you grateful he was never a biter, and little gills bracketing his throat. Soft-spoken, a little shy outside of his parents, and constantly looking to wrestle and play. If you're doing something, he's a guaranteed little helper - he likes to help with cooking when you let him. If his baby sister is getting into trouble, he's either helping her do it to make sure she's safe, or he's the one carrying a kicking, griping toddler to his mom or dad to handle. Yeah, he's a bit of a narc- but it's always for a good cause. He's a fretful big brother.
Your girl is probably the most precious little baby you'd ever met, and Kisame is quite literally helpless against her doe-eyes and deceptively sweet, cheery little voice. Where her brother is quiet, she is loud; where he's happier to follow the rules and keep out of trouble, she's a born rule-breaker that finds boundaries just to test them. When you stumble upon her in the midst of some suspiciously quiet, pint-sized anarchy, she always manages to look surprised that you ever caught her in the first place. She looks like you, if you were knee-height and sporting tiny little daggers for teeth and gills on your cheekbones. Kisame blames you entirely for her gremlin personality.
Kisame does not discipline unless he needs to, because he feels awful when big, sweet baby eyes look at him with complete betrayal that he dared to tell them no, or stop them from pulling off some kind of crazy baby scheme that would make your hair grey from stress. Quivering pouts or teary eyes and he's gotta tap out.
Babysitters adore your kids when they behave, but Kisame vets any you hire thoroughly because he's more than a little protective of his babes. It's like they're each a half of his heart living outside his body and he honestly struggles to manage the overwhelming love and affection they pump into his veins every day. He could, and gladly would break fingers over something as minute as hurt feelings.
You hold the sole rights to discipline outside the house, too. If either of your ankle-biters act out their mischief in public, and someone tries to step up and throw in their two cents, Kisame's massive silhouette and mean, sawtooth grin are very effective deterrents.
Itachi is a semi-frequent visitor, and both of your children love him fiercely. You're half-convinced that he has some kind of Uchiha magnetism, given the fact that he'd won over not one, but three Hoshigaki by the sheer power of his quiet, soothing presence. Kisame takes great amusement in watching your little lady climb all over the poor man, and your son sidle up beside him with his favourite book to chat his ear off about the adventures that lay within it. Itachi, to his credit, never ever seems to mind the undivided attention of the lively gilled babes.
Kisame, and his pint-sized sidekick: getting into Hoshigaki-brand bullshit
You, with your sweet little chore buddy: > : ( no- one hundred times, no!
Kisame, and his tiny co-maker of mayhem: betrayed, bamboozled, shocked you found out
Tumblr media
Itachi slips seamlessly into a domestic role, despite how long he'd been absent from one. Childrearing almost seems like his god-given purpose in life once he actually sets himself to it, and the second you two brought home your cooing, burbling baby it was on. He's happy, grateful to stay home and take care of your son, tend to the home and make your transition back to work as smooth of a process as possible.
It's an all-too common scene to come home and find the Uchiha at task in the kitchen, tending to a meal simmering on the stove while your squishy, pudgy-cheeked and sleepy eyed boy perched on his hip with a tenderness that makes your heart hurt. Even as a clumsy little toddler, he's never found very far from his dad. If Itachi is cleaning, there's his little mini-me, trying to help and earning gentle encouragement and a soft, fond smile for his efforts.
Honestly, your little guy is the most well-mannered, well-adjusted, well-spoken toddler you've ever met. He genuinely likes to help, to the point that it sometimes becomes a problem because he's very determined when there's any little problem set out in front of him. At the park, playing with other little babes, he's more concerned with making sure everyone's playing fair and playing safe than he is about actually having any fun himself. He's a bit of a worrywart for someone his age, and half the time it feels like he's the self-appointed tiny guardian of his friend group. Someone trips and skins a knee? 'Are you okay? We can sit down for a little. It's okay.' A born father, is your Itachi.
Who, for a man so reserved and soft-spoken, is hellbent on making sure his son has the most peaceful, memorable childhood he can possibly offer. Not a day is wasted in your household, even a lazy day is an opportunity to make memories and spend some honest, quality time with the people he loves most. You three can cook meals together, with your boy set to work at taste-testing and mixing ingredients under the quiet, watchful eye of his dad. He never wants for encouragement, love, affection, or little things that catch his eye; it would be wrong to call him spoiled, because he isn't, but there is little he wants that he doesn't receive.
Your secondary job is bullying Itachi into taking a day to relax and unwind, because although your son is essentially the perfect child, it's still a lot of work to raise him. Even when you're the primary parent on those days off, he's never far away, and always finding sneaky ways to slip back into dad-mode rather than actually relax. Half the time it takes you putting your son on the job of wrangling his dad just to make the man sit down, crack open a book and let himself just be. That typically entails your little boy gently chiding his father in a way you're certain he learned from the Uchiha himself- and god, it makes your heart melt. 'No, no. Gotta have your tea, it's gonna get cold', 'Sit, sit, sit. Sometimes we need to sit, papa. Gotta rest!'
Kisame loves to visit, he makes that fact no secret. For a man so massive, so intimidating, he handles your boy like glass- as if he's afraid a little rough play might break him. And your son, always as sweet as he is smart, adores the company. His questions know no limits, and he's a clever little babe about getting answers without actually asking questions. 'Can we go swimming? You must swim fast- can you swim under water? I can hold my breath longer than you can.' You once got to watch the boy perched at the end of a dock for half an hour, holding a staring contest with the swordsman who'd been stubbornly sat at the bottom of the lake's shallows for at least half an hour. That thoroughly entertained grin on the swordsman's face when he flared his gills told you he knew what exactly your boy was so curious about when he'd challenged him in the first place.

Itachi Birthday Headcanons
Tumblr media
Nobody asked for these but uh, here they are anyway. This man is like, literally perfection. He deserves so much and gets so little 😫
Not me pretending the massacre didn't happen
Little warning, references birthday blowjobs
Tumblr media
He remembers every birthday but his own. Especially Sasuke's birthday, he always makes sure to do something special for his little brother. But his birthday? Not anything special to him, treats it like just another day, though he enjoys when his family comes together to celebrate it even if he doesn't consider it to be a big deal.
You always ask him, "is there anything you want for your birthday?" And he never knows what to say. He has everything he wants. You, his family, the possibility of becoming the fifth Hokage, what more could he want? Maybe some sweet dango.
A week before his birthday, he goes on a long mission and doesn't get back until the day of. When he gets back to the village, he's tired, hungry, and missed you greatly. Again, his birthday is completely forgotten.
The Uchiha is startled when he gets home. You had thrown some confetti in his face and cheered, "surprise!" He had to blink away his shock before he fully registered what there was to be surprised about.
You were wearing his favorite dress, an elegant black dress that accentuated your best features but still left plenty for the imagination. There was a trail of rose petals leading from the front door to the bathroom. "Happy birthday!"
He couldn't help but feel his love for you grow. You had prepared a relaxing bath for him, rose petals floating in the scented water, a meal of his favorites that included sweet dango for dessert. You'd bought him a new book as his present and told him that you thought he'd be too tired to have a full family dinner to celebrate so you'd planned one for a few days afterward. Itachi felt so loved, your thoughtfulness more than he thought he deserved.
When you promised him another gift, one that could only be given with you on your knees and him with his head thrown back, he realized he couldn't have imagined a better birthday.
Tumblr media
He deserves nothing but the best honestly. Precious soft man.

🌸 flower shop AU part four 🌸
itachi x reader 🌸 masterlist
sasuke is somehow exactly what you pictured but not at all what you had in mind. he was, in some ways, a carbon copy of itachi. the short and to the point texts and emails you traded reminded you of his older brother, but there was a lack of humor in the dialogue. and now that he’s in front of you the resemblance is as plain as day, but there are obvious differences that you pick up on immediately.
unruly black hair matches equally unruly black eyes, the color identical to itachi’s. there’s a sort of defiance about him that has you fighting a smile as you let them in, welcoming both of the brothers warmly. itachi’s eye dance in recognition and sasuke makes a noise you assume is some sort of greeting. your station is already prepped and the shop is quiet and empty, save for the low sound of the radio and the three of you.
you’d offered to come in early for sasuke’s appointment, wanting to give him something special for his birthday. when you came up with the idea it had surprised you initially, along with the urgent need to leave a good impression.
you’d never done something like this before, not even for one of your original clients — but having them come in before you opened offered privacy, something you think they both appreciated. you play with the idea of introducing yourself formally to the younger man but after taking in his almost bored disposition you decide to skip the awkward formalities.
“alright sasuke, you’ll just need to sign this waiver.”
you slide the paper to him from behind the counter and watch as he plucks a pen from the holder on the desk, hunching his shoulders to initial and sign where needed. itachi stands behind, eyes averted to the many designs pinned to the wall next to him, hands in his pant pockets. you’re immediately drawn to the curve of his jaw and the way his mouth rests, stern and stoic. his upper lip curves over his lower lip, just so, and you wonder if he knows just how pretty he really is. men like him were either fully aware and used it to their advantage or remained comically oblivious, but you think itachi drifted somewhere in between. there was more to him than just being unfairly pretty and it made you want to pull at his proverbial thread — to see if he’d untangle for you or knot up before you could reach the end.
that thought alone both thrilled and terrified you.
when sasuke finishes you gesture toward the chair you had set up for him. he’d chosen a rather simple design and wanted it on the inside of his arm. you can see evidence of other tattoos, peeking out from under his sleeves on his shoulders, and fight back the urge to ask where he’d gotten them done. he’d mentioned having gone through the process of getting a tattoo before when you’d sent him your “welcome to the world of tattoos!” email you reserve for all of your clients who book with you for the first time. it was a step by step guide on what to expect when coming to the shop, the do’s and don’ts commonly associated with getting tattooed, and a couple of puns you and another artist came up with one night after staying late working on designs. it was meant to put your clients at ease and make them feel comfortable requesting whatever they needed, as well as prepare them for their visit.
it takes a couple of tries to position the outline how and where he wanted. sasuke is surprisingly talkative, letting you know that he wanted the whole thing a little bit bigger and a tad higher up on his forearm, and maybe a little to the left. you have him stand in front of the floor length mirror against the far wall of the shop and relax his arms, just to make sure it’s perfect. he nods his approval after the third attempt and you begin prepping the ink.
soon the buzzing of your tattoo gun fills the small shop and you’re hardly surprised when sasuke barely flinches at the pressure. it’s quiet, save for the radio and the sound of your machine, until sasuke breaks it with a question.
“how long have you been tattooing?”
it’s a question you get often and you don’t bother looking up to answer him, not wanting to loose focus.
“give or take ten years.”
sasuke says nothing in response but him breaking the silence first makes you bold.
“when did you get your first tattoo?”
there’s a snort from behind you and you’re glad you had turned to grab more ink. you’d completely forgotten about itachi, having drifted straight into work mode and tuning everything else out around you, and the sudden noise startled you. sasuke makes an indignant sound next to you.
“if my mom asks — two years ago.”
this pulls a chuckle out of you.
“got it. the next time her and i hang out i’ll be sure to corroborate your story.”
out of the corner of your eye you watch sasuke’s lips quirk. it feels like a victory and you answer with a smile of your own.
time passes by. sasuke continues his line of questioning and you continue to answer while ignoring the flutter of your pulse every time itachi snorts or hums behind you. he barely speaks otherwise and after you’ve wiped sasuke’s new tattoo clean and covered it in a clear wrap, you stand and remove your gloves. sasuke murmurs a curt thank you and ducks into the single stall bathroom tucked away in the corner. you watch him with a fond smile before turning to itachi.
“you think he likes it?”
itachi stands and pulls out a black leather wallet, thumbing through it before looking up at you.
“sasuke is not one to mince words. you would know if he didn’t.”
“an admirable quality.”
“sometimes.”
you laugh lightly and walk over to the point of sale station, itachi following closely behind. you ring up the price for the tattoo, add his discount, and flip the screen towards him. drumming your fingers against the desk while he inserts his card, you open your mouth before thinking better of it.
“do you have any tattoos?”
slender fingers pause before taking the card out of the machine.
“no.”
you hum and tilt your head. it somehow made sense that he didn’t. you couldn’t imagine how devastating he’d look with a half sleeve, or worse, a hand tattoo. there was something elegant about itachi, something poised and planned that made him untouchable. a blank canvas.
your fingers twitch at the thought.
“do you?” he inquires as he pockets his wallet. you nod, and watch as his eyes flicker over your bare arms. he wouldn’t find them so easily and you shrug, mouth quirking into a smile.
“they’re not typically visible, but i have them.”
bottomless black eyes meet yours as itachi pins you with a look. your pulse responds by nearly jumping out of your skin and the butterflies you’ve kept at bay are back in full force. he looks like he’s considering something and your body betrays you by slowly shutting down, nothing but the hammering of your heart in your ears.
you’re a bit breathless at the undivided attention. itachi seems content to stay as he is, and you’re scrambling for a way to gain some sort of composure. luckily, or maybe not, sasuke exits the bathroom and makes his way to the front. you break eye contact first and busy yourself with organizing the pens in their holder, praying that neither men can visibly see the way your chest was stuttering. itachi asks sasuke if he’s ready and sasuke makes a noise of confirmation. you meet sasuke’s eyes and nod, a smile crinkling your face when he nods back. itachi thanks you, to which you murmur a soft “you’re welcome,” and taps the desk as he leaves. taking a deep breath once you’re alone, you give yourself a moment to chuckle at your own awkwardness. the crush you had on itachi was supposed to be silly and kind of fun, but just now it felt heavy. serious.
it felt a little bit real.
in the midst of your self reflection you notice something poking out from under the point of sale machine and your mouth parts in surprise when you pull out a wad of cash. your mouth continues to widen in shock when you count it, realizing that itachi left it for you. in your hands was a twenty percent tip as well as the discounted difference you’d added to his bill. exasperated fondness hits you hard as a delighted laugh loosens from your chest. he’d pulled a fast one on you and you pocket the cash, already scheming to come up with a way to get back at him.
if anything, it gave you an excuse to continue with the game you two seemed to be playing. flowers, the drawing, a tattoo, now this. you know he more than likely didn’t mean to continue the little give and take between you, but you were more than happy to keep it going.
at the very least, you’d maybe make a friend.

The First Step
Fandom: Naruto AU Pairing: Uchiha Itachi &/x reader Content: Just a bit of nerves and fluff. A/N: Happy birthday @maladaptive-ninja-returns! Here’s a little something for you.
The first step
You’ve been here before: stood outside the closed door with nothing but a mind bumbling with impossible excuses as to why. This time it’s different though. This time you’ve actually knocked on the door and now you’re panicking at the sound of a muffled “coming” and footsteps approaching.
You’ve known Itachi for years now and consider him a good friend although you’ve never dared to bring the relationship outside of work. Maybe you’re modest, thinking you have too little to offer. Maybe you’re just not brave enough. Either way, what finally has driven you to stand outside his door is something that transcends the boundaries of friendship – for months you’ve tried to ignore the flutter of butterflies in your gut whenever you saw him, tried to suppress the feverish dreams that haunt your nights and even the waking hours too.
The door opens before your brain has picked an explanation as to why you’re there. And there he stands. Tall. Slender. Slack ponytail with some stray locks to frame the face and those gorgeous eyes that you could drown in.
“[Y/N]?” he sounds surprised and you can’t blame him considering you’ve barely spoken outside of work.
This is a mistake, you realize, the dreadful acknowledgement gnawing in your guts.
“What can I do for you, [Y/N]?” Itachi asks gently.
“I...it’s...” You have nothing. No reason that you can voice, at least. “I’m sorry this was a mistake,” you finally blurt.
But as you turn to leave, you feel him grab your hand and softly tug you back to face him. “I don’t think it was. Come in, have a cup of tea and some courage, maybe,” he smiles with a glimmer in his eyes that you can’t place.
He has already let go of your hand, but you can still feel the tender pressure from his fingers where they’d wrapped around yours.
It’s impossible to say no and soon you find yourself seated by his kitchen table while he’s rummaging around, his soft voice calming you with nonsense rumours from work.
By the time Itachi joins you at the table, your nerves have almost calmed completely...not that that lasts: as soon as you look into those unfathomable eyes, you’re reminded of why you’re sitting here.
“Hey, now you’re here, there’s something I’d like to tell you,” the man interrupts your panic, “if that’s okay?”
“Sure, go ahead,” you manage to croak out.
He smiles softly. “Thank you.”
But whatever he has to say, he remains quiet for a while as he sips the tea and you can’t help but admire the well-manicured hands that hold the porcelain so gingerly. The purple nail polish that you wish you had the guts to wear. The thin but perfect lips as they fold around the edge of the cup, wafting the steam away with each breath.
“I’m not good with words,” Itachi apologizes, “but I do pride myself of having a good insight into people’s minds.” He lets it hang for a minute in the air together with your nerves – exposed and frayed. “That’s why...I think I can say what I want to say fairly safely: I like you a lot. More than I should like a colleague or a neighbour...I like you more than a friend. Does this bother you to hear?”
It takes you a few seconds to realize that you’re sitting with your mouth open, staring at the man. This is what I wanted to say! “What? It’s- no never! Nope, not bothered!” The words come out in a jumble.
The smile he sends you is blinding, making his eyes almost squeeze shut and you’re certain that nothing prettier exists in the world. Relief washes over you and is joined by unadulterated delight as he grabs your hand.
“Thank you,” he blurts out, “for making me so happy.” Then his smile falters and he frowns at you. “I’m sorry...what did you even come here to say?”
It’s easier now. You’ve gotten both tea and courage and find that the words you searched for so desperately before have come to you. “You pretty much said it all for me, Itachi,” you admit, “I’ve been wanting more for quite a while now so yeah...I’d like to explore this.”
“Dinner tomorrow?”
“Dinner tomorrow.”
The thought strikes you that you must be dreaming, that the fact that he’s still holding your hand isn’t really a fact at all but a figment of your imagination. Discreetly, you pinch yourself with the free hand. Ouch. Nope, it’s real enough.
It’s also real the next day when the two of you enter the cozy little Italian restaurant he’s picked, when he pulls out your chair for you and mumbles an apology about the so-called lack of grandeur.
“No please, this is perfect, Itachi,” you promise and see his face light up in a smile.
It doesn’t take long for your nerves to calm because the man in front of you has a natural charm to him.
The dinner is over too soon, it feels. Back out on the street, you wander through half the city it feels, just chatting and laughing and holding hands until you come in view of the clock on the city hall.
“I should probably get you home safe,” Itachi laments.
True to his words, he walks you back although you could swear that his grip in your hand becomes tighter the nearer you come toy our front door and by the time you’re standing in front of it, he doesn’t let go straight away, but tugs you around to face him gently.
“[Y/N],” he begins and you feel his hand trembling slightly, “thank you for making this an incredible evening.”
He lets go of you and your heart that is screaming for his touch is rewarded as he cups you face in his palm, mumbling something about saying stop which you probably ought to give him credit for but you can’t now that your breath is stuck in your lungs. You reach for him, finding his collar and dragging him closer even as you stand on your tip toes. There’s barely time to register the surprised little sound he makes before your lips meet: soft and testing, barely brushing until Itachi surges in for more and deepens the kiss.
It’s everything you’ve ever dreamt of and more while at the same time being so utterly simple. And it’s over before you have time to really come to terms with it happening. More, a voice inside you craves. But instead you sink down on your feet and look up at the man, afraid of what might face you.
A goofy smile that almost makes the eyes close. “Thank you for a wonderful night, [Y/N],” he whispers.
“Thank you,” you reply with an equally broad smile.
That night when you dream, the dreams don’t seem as far-fetched as before.

Happy Birthday Shisui!
Let's celebrate with some headcannons!
Tumblr media
After a long mission, Shisui returns to his house in the evening to find it dark. He could've sworn he forgot to turn off a light when he left this morning. Oh well.
Taking off his sandals(stinky and sweaty from his labour 🤢😳), his feet gently drum against the wooden panels below as he switches the light on.
His gaze soon flicks towards the foreroom as a bang of confetti fills the view.
"Surprise!" You, Itachi and little Sasuke call out when you three come out of hiding from behind the couches.
Immediately, Shisui's face lightens up—he had completely forgotten that it was his birthday today!
The three of you hug him and wish him; he is ecstatic!
"I can't believe you guys remembered." Shisui beams.
"How could we forget?" Itachi returns the smile.
"Pfft! Don't we celebrate it every year?" Sasuke chimes in, "Plus look at what I got you, you'll love it!" He jumps up and down in excitement, pulling at Shisui's hands.
"Alright, alright!" chuckling, Shisui lets Sasuke lead him to the table where the presents are laid.
"Hot damn," Shisui whistles, "who made this cake?" (The cake is very sexy.)
Simultaneously, Sasuke and Itachi point at you and the latter pushes you forward.
"Whoa! Knew you were good, but better than Itachi?" Shisui immediately gets smacked by said Uchiha, "Ouch!!"
"Silence, you big-nosed fool." He deadpans, highly offended.
"Jeez! Okay, your cooking is the best! Kidding..." Shisui whispers the last word to you as Itachi goes out of earshot.
Meanwhile, Sasuke pushes his present to Shisui, "Just open it alreadyyy!"
Upon opening the wrapping, Shisui 'awws' out loud: its a drawing of the four of you, "This is so good, Sasuke, I'm gonna frame this later!"
Shisui proceeds to open Itachi's gift: a specialized kunai with his name engraved on the handle.
Then it's time for your gift... Lifting it, he smiles.
"It's so small, y/n! Is it a mouse or something?" He teases, but his expression immediately changes as he looks at the black, velvet box.
"A-A locket...?" Opening it, he sees a picture of you and him and he turns red, "Wow... Thank you so much, y/n! Now, I can look at your pretty face on missions."
You two blush at his comment when the high pitched voice of Sasuke snaps you out of it, "Stop being gross!! Let's eat the cake instead!"
Both of you giggle and the four of you have a blast the rest of the day.
