my ship with jack is literally so sweet every time i think about it tho... a divorced, middle-aged man trying his damnedest to better himself, believing he probably won’t ever find love again, believing he probably wouldn’t deserve it if he did find it. then he finds someone like him, a bit younger but comfortable with an (non-creepy) age gap, equally as brooding and similarly struggling but also carrying a lightness, an optimism, a sense of humor and wit to match. and he thinks, what the hell does he see in me?? but they’re falling in love before they’re falling in friendship and it snowballs and before they realize it, they’ve given each other everything they’ve ever wanted.

as a child there's nothing cooler than a kid who gets subjected to evil experiments and gains special abilities. it's even cooler if these abilities also cause unfathomable suffering to use/against others. children love stories like this.
