A small and I acknowledge petty rant

I stg if I see one more sewing pattern promising "no tricky buttons" "no fiddly zips" "no difficult fastenings" I will scream.

A) none of those things are hard. No you might not want that for your first sewing project but they are not DIFFICULT. Take half an hour and some scrap fabric and stitch a few buttonholes. In newer machines (which I don't have) you don't even need to change the dial, they do them all in one step. There. Now you can make a fucking buttonhole.

It does help to have the right foot for your zip, but if you don't you can handsew them. Pin them in place, sew, don't forget to press. You're almost always just sewing a straight line. For invisble zips spend then like, £7 for an invisible zip foot if your machine didn't come with it.

There, now you have a zip.

B) Not every pattern needs to be for beginners. I am SO SICK of looking at the new releases and seeing 100 variations on oversized sack dresses because somewhere along the way someone decided that zips were unacceptably hard.

I know in part that the massive oversized silhouette is in right now (I hate it but whatever I don't have to wear it) but I sew so I DON'T have to wear whatever is in the shops at them moment. I want something that is fun and engaging to make but that isn't like, full on vintage repro and doesn't make me, someone easily in middle age look like a TODDLER.

enough stories about how someone learns to truely be happy through love. i want a story where someone is desperately seeking out love thinking it's the only way to be happy only for them to learn by the end that happiness is what they make of it and they don't need love at all to make it.

twitter is crazy because somebody like sunday can say plain as day “i hate the idea of ‘survival of the fittest’ because i view myself as weak and understand how other fellow weak people feel, so i want to make a paradise where the weak and strong are equal and everybody can be protected under my watchful gaze” with very clear connotations towards catholicism/orthodoxy, the sacrifice of christ, and ‘the ones who walk away from omelas’ by ursula le guin (a story about a perfect utopian world that only remains such at the expense of a small child below the surface that is left alone to suffer) and be equated to that of a fascist ableist in support of real world eugenics that wants to kill minorities to create a perfect paradise.

i'm glad quackity is becoming more involved in running the actual server, and i think he's handling the situation as well as he can. but it sucks a lot that he wasn't ALREADY highly involved in how his passion project was run and how his money was spent. he is very young, he is a busy law student and content creator, he is intensely private. this was a tough lesson for him on responsibility.

i think those of us who've been watching since the beginning aren't super surprised by how little he knew about things behind the scenes. his character wasn't even allowed to /op because he wanted to be on equal footing with the other players. he constantly mentioned how he "doesn't know what's going to happen today" during events when other members would ask questions. he doesn't seem to know shit about the mods they've chosen or how the custom game mechanics work. he's doesn't play on the server much at all!

so seeing dream stans and other mcyt fans huff and puff about how quackity is lying and obviously knew about everything bad going on is odd. like this man really doesn't know shit about how his server is run or what happens on it. THAT'S a fair thing to criticize and something i agree is irresponsible. it's not fair to claim he's lying about not knowing things when every indication for the last year has pointed viewers in that direction. he's really been super hands off about everything except adding new languages, which is kind of his whole focus.

anyway kudos to the french admins and aypierre for speaking up and sparking workplace change. very on brand for the french LOL

also reminder to any younger viewers who are like REAAAALLY invested in qsmp to stop catastrophizing. it'll be alright. it's literally just minecraft, no one is in any danger.

Y'all are so mad that Rhaenyra did not stay in her line and nodded in acceptance when her throne was stolen, but instead chose to engage herself in a war to get it; unlike your favs that you claim are better than her yet did absolutely nothing when their authority as women was trampled.

going further. franks child self was living in that one room with a strange weirdo boy he dreamed up but never really had. now his inner child isn’t alone anymore. he plays games with his real charlie in their terrible one room apartment. getting weird with it and being okay with being weird no matter what everyone on the outside might think. sharing a bed together to feel the comfort in being close to that

macs child self had charlie the whole time. inseparable. a package deal. the most genuine connection and comfort in both of their neglected tiny lives. not just because they were otherwise alone. decades later theyre not going anywhere. now their inner child rides bikes together they throw rocks at trains together they teach each other about the world just like they needed so desperately in old times

dennis’ child self never had charlie. not until highschool. but that was exactly when he experienced his csa. his inner child found charlie at the exact right moment. caught him when he fell. he got his child self back through charlie just as he lost feeling. and now what do the two of them do together? they go recreate memories and recapture lost youth with a mutual unspoken understanding of why

they all need charlie. relaxing into his genuine youthful energy lets them feel that way again.

One more thing before I'm closing the "It's in character for Minthara to break up with redeemed Durge because she's all about power": oh yes she WANTS power, but that's why it's in character for her to want to be The Absolute, to become a god and build a world to "ourselves". Why would she wanna be a god's slave again, and Bhaal of all of them? That's NOT an ambitious goal lol, it's a pathetic and narrow-minded one at best, the kind that someone who has never been betrayed by gods would wish for, the kind that doesn't have a Grand Design in mind (and trust me Minthara is a great schemer). What is the point of being a "ruler" (puppet at best) when Bhaal can just yank the chains at any given moment? Who wants the kinda power that can be taken away when there's literally a way to become a god in the first place? If anything a redeemed Durge with the power of the Netherbrain can kill the god of murder themself, which I'm very certain Minthara would approve because "killing one's parents can be an important rite of passage."

My woman is way more ambitious than what people give her credits for.

so coev is very much inspired by the things I've learned about early humans, and really I've become fascinated by the idea that at one point, a subsect of humans seemingly lost their connection with nature.

because think about it. for millions of years we were animals, living among all the other animals. we obviously didn't think we were very different from them. why would we? we're animals and we've always been animals

so the question becomes when did some humans start thinking they WEREN'T animals? when did those barriers start getting built? why did it happen? science today knows we ARE animals but it was a conclusion drawn from decades of research--but what happened to make those humans believe they weren't animals?

and coev--im wanting to explore that idea, i think, if it'll work. figure out how that shift might have happened, and the conflict that would arise from it.

maybe as tool making has increased in complexity among the prides, some cats start to delineate themselves from the other animals who Clearly Can't Make Things Like We Can?

and maybe as the amount of power a single cat can exert grows, it can fuel this growing, festering belief that they're somehow better. they can do things that no other before them has done, so perhaps that makes them more like a god/force of nature than a mortal/victim of nature...
