I hate the idea that a company should always be in growth mode and that mass layoffs, sorry, restructuring is something that should happen at set intervals. Steady profits are still profits and people will be less inclined to work or get invested in their work if they have to keep an emergency backup job in the back pocket no matter how good their work is.
To say nothing about how it limits social bonding 'cause there's only so many times you can go through seeing friends lose their job and have survivor's guilt or vice versa, or how since it's a known occurrence it means you know you're competing directly with friends.
Of course that's the point, along with the business idea that employment should follow the Pareto Principle even though it's pop science, demonstrably false, and an intentional misunderstanding of what was really an observation of coincidences.
And of course that means you're constantly shedding people who have knowledge, skills, and training to "streamline" things or to "increase production speed" when overworking already overworked employees and throwing greenhorns into it does the exact opposite.
It's not about making the company better, it's about making unionizing harder, paying people less, making it seem like the company is doing something, and giving the execs and shareholders more money.
While overworking those who kept their jobs.
#and how many times has a company bragged about how much money it made#only to turn around and fire a bunch of workers (but never execs)?#maybe even given themselves massive congratulatory bonuses to celebrate their 'hard work'#which was actually the work of dozens/hundreds of others#and iirc the pareto principle observation varied wildly from something like 5% to 50%#but it got turned into 80-20 for round numbers and because who cares about nuance#just sell it as 20% of your employees are slacking no matter what so you should fire 20% regularly#and of course there's the little thing known as fiduciary responsibility that's been warped by capitalism#so execs prioritize shareholders above all else#and of course the same companies often complain how no one wants to work anymore#or laments how people right out of college don't have a decade plus of experience with the company's proprietary system(s)#and sometimes they try to sneak no compete clauses into employment contracts so if someone is fired#they may have to stay out of the industry they have experience/training/degrees/interest in#no that such clauses can be enforced for something like this but it's a threat and warning to further cow workers#and a company bragging about making billions in profit and has a whole legal department#can easily afford the time and legal fees compared to someone who just lost their job even if they know they're going to lose#corporations literally have money earmarked in their budget for fines and settlements#which should tell you all you need to know about how much they care about laws#it's not even an emergency 'we fucked up' fund#it's 'this is the cost of business because it's cheaper to pay the fine and do what we want' fund

anyway is there anyone who follows me who's done student teaching in the past few years? i'm worried about going that long without an income even w/ savings lol
#i'm privileged because i inherited in an old car from my grandparents#and i'm also very frugal and i've worked a lot so i have a little bit saved up#i've always played this game of how much i can throw at disgusting private loans while having a bit of an emergency fund like#if i total my car i'd be fucked. i worry any major dent would total it because it's a 2002#love the car but there's stressors#like ideally if i could just allocate $1k for student teaching until i get my first paycheck in semester if i get a teaching gig#most ppl i know who graduated have#but $1k seems very stressful unless i can get like a $30 babysitting gig once a week to tide me over (free groceries ty parents woohoo)#that'd be mostly money i can throw at loans#but there's the praxis exams#also i have barely any information about that because our last professor didn't explain those in elementary music!!#we had a retired elementary school teacher as our prof for one year#i need to email our new elementary music prof because yeah im scared dude#idk how much to even budget mentally for those. i don't even know when they'd even be. like is that something my host teacher would go over#god#i need to ask a rlly nice dude in my major who's student teaching next semester too#but i feel so bad lol

Ok but you have to include the full clip though
The guys name is Paul Parker and heâs literally my hero
youtube
The clip is funny ofc, he literally tells sco mo to square up, but itâs also heartbreaking to see how run down and exhausted he is- how all our volunteers were- during black summer. My parents are both full time rfs members and Iâm nearly of age to become an offical member myself, and I canât begin to describe how run ragged they are every bush fire season, let alone 2019-20. My dadâs birthday was just a few days ago and while we were sitting in our living room cutting the pavlova he was still on call with the radios by his side. Our emergency service workers- the rfs, the ses, paramedics and support services and so many more- are overworked and underpaid and constantly let down by our government, and good old Scotty from marketing is a prime fucking example.
Fuck Scott Morrison, support your local brigades.
I just spent some time scrolling through this blog and am suffering from sever laughter. Thanks so much for collating the countries craziest moments. One of my favourites is when Scott Morrison was in Hawaii while the bushfires where burning.
December 2019: As Australia's east coast is engulfed in the worst bushfires in living memory, rumours begin to circulate that Australia's Prime Minister Scott Morrison may have secretly fucked off for a holiday in Hawaii.
Keep in mind, this is what is going down in Australia at the time:
The Hawaii rumour is initially written off as a fringe conspiracy, because surely nobody could be that fuckin tonedeaf, and it was quickly forgotten about... until an Australian man visiting Hawaii UPLOADED A SELFIE ON THE BEACH WITH THE PM THROWING A SHAKA.
At which point all hell broke loose.
Overnight the formerly popular "Scomo" became the most despised man in all of Australia. Think "firefighters shouting out of their windows to news cameras" level of despised.
After about two days of radio silence and pretending like he was still at home running the country, the Prime Minister's handlers finally dragged him onto call with an Australian radio station, where he pinky promised to return to Australia as fast as he could in an attempt to calm things down.
Unfortunately Scott's empathy consultant (a real job) then had to watch Scott pour more gasoline on the dumpster fire by uttering the now famous phrase "Look I don't hold a hose mate" when asked by the radio interviewer why the fucking fuck the fuckhead wasn't fucking in Australia doing his fucking job during a massive fucking crisis.
Testing just how much worse things could get, Scomo then proceeded to NOT rush back to Australia as promised, instead attempting to complete the rest of his holiday, a fact that was exposed when a passerby snapped a picture of him still lounging on the beach two days later.
Eventually, holiday complete, Morrison did reluctantly slink back to Australia, and in an attempt to calm things down, he decided to pay a visit to a small town that had been destroyed by the fires.
Which was a big mistake.
Scomo still had not registered how absolutely and totally he had screwed the poodle with his Hawaiian beach vacation, and he walks into what is now taught in PR classes as one of the greatest examples of "what not do do in a crisis" in all of history.
Scotty from Marketing, as he is now dubbed by the nation, spends a painfully cringe-inducing hour wandering around a burned down town with TV news cameras in tow, having to FORCE PEOPLE TO SHAKE HIS HAND in what is some of the most awkward footage you will ever see.
At this point it's probably also worth mentioning that, before becoming Prime Minister, Scott Morrison's biggest claim to fame in politics was being the guy that was so far up the coal lobby's arse that he literally brought coal into parliament and waved it around, claiming it doesn't hurt people.
So when a protest was organised it turned out to be one big national fuck you to the Prime Minister, the likes of which the world has never seen before or since.
Needless to say, at this point Scomo's career was dead in the water, but thanks to the rules brought in to stop Australian political parties from knifing their leader every two weeks (a popular Aussie passtime) Morrison basically couldn't get fired until after the next election.
And so, when the election rolled around in 2022, we decided that was an opportune time to travel over to Hawaii to erect this bad boy tribute to the Prime Minister, on the very beach where Scomo had sat and drank margaritas that one fateful week in December as Australia burned (thanks to @chaser for funding the ticket)
#sorry Iâm really passionate about this#all the time I sit with and listen to my parents- mostly my mum- talk about how theyâre overworked and being fucked over#how her bosses are laying off part timers working communications to âopen spots for full time workersâ who arenât there#and how they missed their yearly pay rise at the end of 2020 because corporate just âcouldnât afford itâ#meanwhile the tops got another pay rise that was literally about the amount she makes in a year#and they apparently upped the pay rise a little the next year but that doesnât make a fucking difference because it means theyâre all#getting less money over the course of their whole CAREERS because itâs supposed to be compounding#and Iâm just so sick of everyone being fucked over like this and listening to my mum talk about how tight money is#and Iâm lucky for it not to be so tight as to be noticeable- in terms of what we buy for food or the opportunities I get to have as a scout#since we donât usually just buy things whenever- though around this time of year weâre obviously spending a lot more than usual#but I just know that most people in emergency services#these people doing really dangerous and easily potentially traumatising jobs#are not being adequately cared for and looked after by our government#Iâm just so fucking sick of it all the time#the overtime and the years of missing Christmas and birthdays because the people in power wonât listen to the experts warnings#and wonât fund for the proper staffing to keep staff from undue fatigue and stress#and I know itâs harder than them than it is on me- a lot fucking harder#I mean- missing chirstmas day isnât that big a deal#itâs happened often enough over the years and we always celebrate it on another day anyway who cares about the specifics#and birthdays are fine- a couple presides in the morning before school and work and out for something fun when we have a free day#but I know they feel so guilty for missing these things#because itâs so important to them and they canât be there#all this stuff is mostly my mum- sheâs a shift worker and she has to drive like two hours to get to work everyday and then two hours back#my dad works closer to home and mostly in infrastructure and such so itâs not as demanding for him#but even so he still has so much overtime this time of year#and because of the way he works half the time when heâs not at work heâs on call to respond to incidents#anyway Iâm ranting when I should be sleeping#sorry#entirely forgot this was about sco mos incompetence anyway get fucked Scotty#Youtube

"What emerged in two interviews with Trump, and conversations with more than a dozen of his closest advisers and confidants, were the outlines of an imperial presidency that would reshape America and its role in the world. To carry out a deportation operation designed to remove more than 11 millions people from the country, Trump told me, he would be willing to build migrant detention camps and deploy the U.S. military, both at the border and inland. He would let red states monitor women's pregnancies and prosecute those who violate abortion bans. He would, at his personal discretion, withhold funds appropriated by Congress, according to top advisers. He would be willing to fire a U.S. Attorney who doesn't carry out his order to prosecute someone, breaking with a tradition of independent law enforcement that dates from America's founding. He is weighing pardons for every one of his supporters accused of attacking the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, more than 800 of whom have pleaded guilty or been convicted by a jury. He might not come to the aid of an attacked ally in Europe or Asia if he felt that country wasn't paying enough for its own defense. He would gut the U.S. civil service, deploy the National Guard to American cities as he sees fit, close the White House pandemic-preparedness office, and staff his Administration with acolytes who back his false assertion that the 2020 election was stolen."
-- "How Far Would He Go", TIME Magazine's interviews with Donald Trump, April 30, 2024.
I know we're saturated in coverage of Trump and it's easy (and probably better for our mental health) to usually ignore most of the articles when we see them, especially since he's so full of shit and infuriating. But it's also important to recognize that he is going to be the Republican nominee for President and he could absolutely be elected in November, and if you thought his first term was scary and dangerous, you need to understand that in a second term he's going to have people around him that are better prepared and VERY willing to do the crazy shit that he wants to do to this country. They aren't even hiding the fact that they are seeking vengeance against political opponents whom they feel have wronged them, and are ready to fundamentally dismantle the democratic foundations that are barely holding this country together after nearly 250 years.
Just look at what Trump says about the people who he incited to attack the United States Capitol in an attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 election and halt the peaceful transfer of power that has happened every four years since 1789:
"Trump has sought to recast an insurrectionist riot as an act of patriotism. 'I call them the J-6 patriots,' he say. When I ask whether he would consider pardoning every one of them, he says, 'Yes, absolutely.' As Trump faces dozens of felony charges, including for election interference, conspiracy to defraud the United States, willful retention of national-security secrets, and falsifying business records to conceal hush-money payments, he has tried to turn legal peril into a badge of honor."
Oh, and please note that Trump -- a former President of the United States and possible future President of the United States -- said on the record in these interviews with TIME: "There is a definite antiwhite feeling in the country and that can't be allowed either." We are at a point where political leaders are outright saying that in this country again, and it's because of Donald Trump.
So, take the time to recognize that Trump is straight-up telling us the country we're going to be living in if he wins again in November. And understand that your vote matters -- and WHO you vote for matters -- because, as I've been saying for years now, ELECTIONS HAVE FUCKING CONSEQUENCES.

it is totally okay to be hurt and tired and fed up with the american schooling system but i need you to understand that we need to be better about loudly and routinely defending public education.
yes, many teachers suck, many schools utterly suck. i also got bullied and was absolutely not given the right support for my needs. i am not defending public education because it was kind to me. i am defending it because it needs to exist.
right-wing republicans do not want an educated population. they want kids to be homeschooled or in private school. there is a huge religious undertone to this.
the most common argument is that despite high costs, the "result" is not "good" enough. they point to failing schools as proof that public education is just never going to work out. there will be arguments made here that you actually agree with: that teachers can be bullies, that we taught online for 2 years and still charged the same amount of tuition, that we have no recourse for students to actually have agency or a voice, and that schools are now unsafe for kids due to risk of illness and gun violence.
these are all placing the blame in a fraudulent way, one intended to get your parents to homeschool you. the less kids in a school, the less federally-awarded funding for that school, the less any school succeeds. they will not mention the fact it is their legislation that takes away important funding opportunities, that teachers are living at or below the poverty line, that buildings are not kept up to code, that administration is overpaid and forces specific curriculums, that corporations like (my personal enemy) Pearson Education control certain classroom goals because teachers can't afford other options. they pretend to be ignorant of the gun violence and say "oh just get a gun" - but these are the same people who will be sending their child to a private school with a bulletproof backpack. they don't care if your kid dies, though. they "don't believe" in covid, but they did get their kid vaccinated, because of course they did.
it is a closed loop. conservative parents hear the fearmongering and remove children from the system. frequently these parents are also deeply religious. the kids are raised without access to other media & learn to parrot their parents. you have now created a new generation of conservatives. additionally, one of the parents/caregivers must stay home and homeschool the children, usually for free. i will give you 1 guess which parent tends to stay home to homeschool the children. these parents are encouraged to have many, many children. those children are most likely not getting access to safe sex ed.
we might laugh at fox news suggesting teachers are forcing children to use kitty litter but: first of all, there is kitty litter in the classroom. it's part of an emergency kit in case children are locked in due to a shooter. so that's fucking dystopian, and the fact they've completely reimagined the scenario to somehow make the teachers look bad when it's instead a fucking huge symbol of our failure as a country to protect our children.... it feels a little intentional.
secondly: don't just dismiss the situation. because, yeah, obviously, no teacher is encouraging kids to be a catboy. but the actual undertone that fox news is trying to sew is an outright distrust of teachers and of public education. they rely on the dehumanization of trans people as a common touchstone to hide the fact they're pushing two agendas at once. (which is ironic. because the thing they accuse teachers of. is pushing. an agenda.)
whenever someone tells you they want you to read less, you should be suspicious of that. when someone tries to separate you and your education, you should be suspicious of that. i don't even like incel rhetoric nor would i want my kids exposed to it - but i would not take away my child's (age-appropriate) access to the internet. i would just provide more educational materials, not less. the difference here is that i believe we can resolve ignorance with knowledge; whereas conservatives believe that ignorance is bliss.
they misappropriate funding and demonize teachers. they pull the same trick each time - the same thing we are seeing with anti-trans rhetoric. they do not want you to have access to safe sex ed, so they act horrified, claim sex ed teaches you how to thrust deep, claim that we have no idea what "age-appropriate" means. since the mid-nineties, the united states has spent at least 2 billion dollars on abstinence-only education, even though to quote the above link: "a preponderance of studies has found no effect of abstinence education at reducing adolescent pregnancy". conservatives want you to think less of any person struggling with addiction so they can continue their racist "war on drugs", so they spend up to $750 million dollars a year on the DARE program which has absolutely no effect. acting like teachers "must" be "grooming" children is just the same thing - so they can demand that funding either goes to their causes or the funding doesn't "exist" ("i'm not paying for our kids to learn that thing!")
and they want you to feel uncaring about this. they are aware that you will hate some parts of your school experience. pretty much everyone does. they want to lean into the parts that you hate so that you don't put up a fight about it when they take it away for not being "good enough."
i know i maybe sound like a conspiracy theorist. but truly. truly. it is beneficial for conservatives to reduce your faith in the american public schooling system.
one of the explicitly stated campaign promises of the conservative party: to axe the Department of Education in 2024.
i know we are all tired and burnt out and there is so much else wrong with their entire platform. but maybe just - pay attention to this one.
#i can't believe i have to say this#the conservative party is legit like ''is it anything good? okay we hate it.''#''lets kill lgbt people and ummmmm school children shouldnt be able to read they should be at home watching jordan peterson :)"#the fact that it's like all related is. wild.#like it's wild bc if u start being like. actually making it impossible to afford housing is part of how they keep the nuclear family.....#it's just like lines connecting to lines. EXCEPT ITS OBVIOUS?#what's wild to me about most conspiracy theorists is that they're like . ohhhh the govt is hiding shit!!!!!!! they don't want u to know!!!#and im like. this old man literally got up on stage and said he hates public education and will let our kids die before taking away ak-47s#and ppl are like: lol thats just bob's sense of humor he didn't mean it literally uwu

Big Fat Tally
Joel Miller x Female Reader | 1.7k words WARNINGS: 18+ NSFW. Non-outbreak AU, established couple, fem/AFAB reader, dirty talk, pet names, praise, incidental solo play (m), foreplay - oral f receiving, fingering, dirty talk. Joel wears a hollow strap* for PIV: Sometimes this is called a cock enhancer or extender but we know he doesn't need it. on the inside it's like a fleshlight. Written for @dark-scapeâs The Tally Chain Fic Event. Please consider donating to the National Network of Abortion Funds or other abortion resources. Also, consider writing a tally fic đ
You called Joel on the way home from work. "I'm just dying to give you another tally," you purred. All afternoon, a montage of possibilities had played in your head -- sucking his cock, jacking him off, politely requesting an anal cream pie...
âGot a surprise for ya,â he told you.Â
âYeah?â you asked.Â
âYeah,â Joel said in a sweet voice, then shifted his tone. âA whole lotta cock. Gonna pack ya full of itâÂ
âBe ready when I get home,â you replied.Â
You and Joel had stored something special in the toy chest, saving it for a rainy day. By this point, you might have forgotten about it, but Joel hadn't, and this was the perfect occasion. The hollow attachment was veiny, close to Joelâs skin tone, and nearly 10â. His own dick, already a more than respectable size, would slide right into it, then heâd fuck you with the massive horsecock.Â
Armed with a big bottle of lube, the strap, and the attachment, he went to the restroom to put it on. This was top-of-the-line equipment. Not only would it provide enhanced girth for your pleasure, but it would pleasure Joel, too. The inside of it was state-of-the-art material with a patented new design. More realistic as the Fleshlight, it promised, or your money back.Â
Joel dropped his pants and lubed up his hard cock. He stepped into the harness and loosely fastened it before lining the tip of his dick up with the hollow cockâs entrance. The hole was a slit. Joel held the hollow dildo in one hand and his cock, dripping lube, in the other. He rubbed his tip over the soft little slit, then pushed his tip inside. He sucked in air through his teeth as the cock slid on far faster than he intended. His cock throbbed as he bottomed out.Â
Joel finished fastening the strap and admired himself in the mirror. The dong was massive, and it looked stiff and swollen like it might burst. At first glance, the size looked a little absurd, but the longer Joel looked at the mirror, it looked like it could feasibly be a part of him.
He held it in his hand, marveling at how his hand struggled to wrap around it. He stood in different poses. He faced the mirror and held it at the base and lazily thrust forward a few times. God, it looked hot, and the interior material felt more like your smooth walls than anything heâd felt in a while.Â
The idea of your pussy spread around this cock made him hard as a brick. It made him so hard that the phallus began to feel tight. It felt tight in the best way, god it felt goodânot as good as the real you, but it almost felt like this thing as sucking him. It was so snug that he had to make sure it wasnât stuck. With both hands firmly on the attachment, he pulled his hips back and âfffuuuuu,â it was sucking him back in. The sensation sent a jolt of pleasure to his taint.Â
Hre paused to breathe then rocked his hips and felt it pull him in again. âNo? Need more?â Joel muttered under his breath and bottomed out again. He held the attachment firmly and withdrew twice as much shaft. He paused and watched his cock throb with the silicone slit stretched around it. Then he slid back in. âYouâre a greedy little thing.â The walls of the attachment hugged his cock. Â
Jesus Christ, he was gonna cum if he wasnât careful.Â
âAlmost ready,â you called from the bedroom, making him jump. He hadnât even realized you were home.
Joel emerged from the bathroom holding his âenhancedâ cock in his hand as though it were his own, and you could only say, âDear God.â You were in a nightgown with no panties. Joelâs steps toward the bed were slow and heavy. You scooted to the edge of the bed to stare that monster cock right in the face.Â
âCan I taste it before you lube it?â you asked and he held it steady for you.Â
You could barely stretch your lips around it. You gagged yourself then slid it out of your mouth, drool falling over your chin. You held your jaw and opened wide to try to get rid of the cramp.Â
âEnough about me,â Joel said. âHowâs my sunshine?â He lifted your chin with two fingers, then kissed you, still holding his enormous appendage in his other hand.Â
âEmpty,â you whispered. âSo very emptyâŚ.â you eyed his equipment again.Â
âShow me how empty,â Joel said.Â
You turned around facing the bed and leaned over it doggy style. You lifted up your nightgown and Joel let out a low whistle when he saw how wet you were.Â
âEasy, baby,â he chuckled. âThink I need to warm ya up a little.âÂ
âWell, get to it,â you teased him, crawling onto the bed and turning around. .Â
He hovered over you, kissed you again, then pulled the straps of your nightgown down so he could make out with your tits. You moaned at his tongue swirling around your nipples. The silicone cock kept grazing you. It was bobbing heavily between you and made your body throb with anticipation. With Joelâs mouth still on your breast, he reached between your open legs and slid his fingers through your slick.
He pushed one, then two fingers into you, and you asked for a third.Â
âGood girl,â he cooed as he fucked you with three fingers. His digits were coated in your slick. He removed his fingers and you protested âuh!â at the loss. Then he licked your fingers and moaned at the taste.Â
âWanna turn over?â he offered.Â
âDonât have to ask me twice,â you replied.Â
With you face down on the bed, Joel adjusted your position for a better angle and kneed your legs open further. He ran his fingers and knuckles through your slick teasingly. He gathered slick with his thumb and began to work your clit. Then, after your first little whine, he spread your pussy wide and ate it from the back.
âMMmm,â he hummed into your cunt as he buried his mouth in your folds and made out with your weeping pussy. There was no better taste. Your hips lifted into his face, and he doubled down, absolutely feasting on your cunt until your thighs were trembling and your body took on the most beautiful shape.Â
You had barely finished coming, when you breathed, âFuck me.âÂ
Joelâs face was shiny and pink. âDroolinâ, ainât she,â Joel murmured. âCanât have enoughâa this anyway,â he mumbled then pumped a puddle of lube into his palm and slathered the cock in it.Â
âYou ready for this monster?â Joel asked.Â
âMmm-hmmâ you whined.Â
He covered his fingers in lube and worked you open for him again until you were easily taking three of his fat fingers. Then he notched the tip at your wet little hole. âOh, baby, you really think you can take this big cock?âÂ
âMmm-hmm.â You tilted your hips.Â
The cockhead prodded at your entrance and you reached back with both your hands to help spread your cunt around it.Â
Joel groaned at the sight. âGod damn, baby,â he pushed the tip halfway in, and you made yourself comfortable again, taking your hands away.Â
Joel moved his hips in small pulses, teasing you with the tip until he pushed the tip inside, making you moan with the pressure.Â
âGood girl,â he praised you. He pressed a little further.Â
âItâs soâwide,â you marveled.Â
âToo much?âÂ
âNo,â you reassured him.Â
âHow âbout a little more?âÂ
You nodded.Â
He withdrew all but the very tip of the cock and added more lube, then slid halfway in, pushing a low moan out of you. You grabbed a pillow to bite if you needed it, but the stretch was the best part.Â
When Joel pulled back, your pussy was clinging to the dripping wet silicone, begging for it back, and Joel had half a mind to take a pic.Â
âBabe, you lookâSo goddamn hot.âÂ
âMmm,â you sighed.Â
He pulled back a little then slid in all he could, gushing, âGooood giiiirl,â as he gently met your cervix. Â
âOhhhh, fuck,â you panted. âIâm full. Fuck, Iâm full.âÂ
Joel was breathing heavily. âYou took that so good baby.â
He slid halfway out, then packed you full again, and began to fuck you at a slow rhythm.Â
âLook at you takinâ this goddamn monster cock,â he marveled, and sped up just a little.Â
âOh, Joel,â you sighed, with the massive cock fucking you into the mattress.Â
Joel was holding on for dear life. He wanted it to last, but it was too fucking hot, it felt too good. The soft inner chamber hugged Joel nice and tight, and your cunt made it squeeze him far tighter. The sight alone couldâve made him cum.Â
âGod damn,â he breathed, fully seated in your cunt. âFuck, Iâm gonna cum, baby,â he warned you.Â
âCâmon, babe,â you encouraged him.Â
He held onto your hips and his eyes were glued to where your bodies were joined as he thrust a few more times, spreading your body apart, splitting you with this massive girth while you relished in the stretch.Â
âOhhh,â he began, then bottomed out and began to pulse. âOh, god damn,â he breathed. âDamn I love you, baby.â His seed poured into the hollow cock, enrobing his dick in his own warm, sticky mess with each burst.Â
As Joel began to pull out, you reached under the pillow and turned on a vibrating wand.Â
Joel quietly chuckled, âattagirl,â and slid back in.Â
You massaged yourself, feeling stuffed full like never before.Â
âOhhh, god,â Joel sighed when you convulsed around his cock.Â
This thing he was wearing, Godâ it was a new sensation. And with the beat of your fluttering walls, and the vibrationâIt felt like even more cum was squeezed out of him with your orgasm.
When you were finished. Joel slowly withdrew from you. He sighed in admiration as your body drew itself back together, like nothing ever happened.Â
You began to roll over and weakly said, "We've gotta mark the--"
âYou just rest, baby, hold on." Joel went and got you a warm rag and helped clean you up, then put a glass of your favorite juice on the nightstand. The whole time, he was still wearing the attachment.Â
Then he proudly walked over to the whiteboard and drew one big fat tally.Â

As a Jewish advocate for Palestinian rights, let me tell you something. Iâm fucking hurting right now.
I hate Hamas because they have made the plight of Palestinians so much worse with their actions in that now even fewer people will be willing to acknowledge their 70 years of suffering.
I hate that they will be used as an excuse to demonize all Palestinians, and the US is already upping their already astronomical military funding for Israel.
I hate that theyâve committed unforgivable violence in the name of a cause that is just.
I hate the Israeli government and the IDF for creating the conditions for this tragedy and countless others stretching back to the Nakba.
I hate how they have perverted my culture into a settler-colonial ideology and perpetrated on the Palestinians the very kinds of pogroms my own family fled Europe to escape.
I hate that so many Jews in Israel and throughout the diaspora face ostracism from their communities and families for speaking out against the atrocities Israel has been committing against Palestinians.
I especially hate how many of my fellow Jews have bought into an ideology that can handwave the bulldozing of homes and schools, the imprisonment of children, the bombing of residential homes, the displacement, the massacres. Virtually all things we have suffered as Jews at points in our history.
My heart aches for the innocent people murdered across the board - no matter who the bombs came from. Even though part of me thinks settlers arenât innocent, what can you really do if you just happened to be born there? And even if you moved to Israel, do you really deserve to die? No.
But neither do all the children in the Gaza Strip currently being bombed in a revenge attack that, with the denial of food, water, and medical aid, violates the Geneva convention.
But to everyone who is posting now about Israel and these âunprecedented tragediesâ - yes, these are tragedies, and my heart is so heavy with them. But they are not unprecedented. Where were you when the same things were happening to Palestinians for decades upon decades? Thereâs a monumental amount of video evidence of atrocities against Palestinians, but somehow people have managed to miss all of that. If youâre only paying attention to the suffering of certain people, ask yourself why.
If youâre only now posting about âof course Palestinians should be freeâ in posts primarily about mourning the killing of Israelis, where were your voices before now? Those of us trying to organize and fight for Palestinian human rights could have used you.
If more people had spoken out against our governmentâs support of what Amnesty International and countless other human rights organizations have called an apartheid regime, who knows what could have been possible.
Edit: Since this is getting a little traction, I wanted to leave these links here. Both are very reputable organizations that are providing humanitarian aid:

As the girl who came up with the Triplet! Tim AU PLEASSEEEEE continue it!!!!! I NEED to see Bruce who thought he had one robin finding out he actually has three separate completely different ones
I gotchu lmfao I think Iâll get to Bruce later? Iâm really happy you liked it omg like that idea is so good
ââ
Their plan was perfect! It would have been perfect, had it not been for Dick Grayson and his nosy face!
Batman might not have known his identity, but Dick Grayson did. He promised to keep it from Batman, but Tim hadnât exactly thought about his secret identity when he showed up to harass the man into being Robin again.
And now, theyâre paying for it.
Tim leaned back and crossed his arms as he watched Dick cradle his head in his hands, looking half a short breath away from a mental breakdown.
âAre you telling me⌠thereâs three of you?â
âYes, Dick.â Tim sighed, having answered this exact question ten times in the past two minutes.
Dick lifted his head, wide eyes looking a little feverish⌠no, looking a little manic.
âTim. Your name is Tim, right? Iâm not-â
âYes, my name is Tim. Technically, so are the others. But the one here with us is Lionel.â
âNo, wait, Tim, you understand how this is- insane, right? Itâs not even remotely in the realm of mentally healthy.â Dick paused. âWait, are you skipping school right now?!?â
âHas anyone ever told you your priorities are screwed up, Dick?â Lionel-Tim walked back into the room, hands full of snacks and, most importantly, Dickâs emergency marshmallow bag. Dick turned to Lionel, eyes full of guilt, and grabbed the bag of marshmallows like a dehydrated man in the middle of a desert whoâs only couple of feet away from an oasis that heâs been looking for for days.
âOh my god. Iâve had three younger brothers and I thought they were all the same kid!â Dick wailed, grabbing a handful of marshmallows and stress cramming it into his mouth. Tim threw him a disgusted look.
âTo be fair, we made sure to train to act like each other from a really early age,â Tim said, snatching the bag of chips that Lionel chucked at his head. His snack laden triplet plonked himself on the plush spinning chair, shoving a hand inside the bag of gummy worms and cramming it down his throat as he spun around.
âI canât believe Iâve never even checked up on you at your place!! If I did, I would have noticed it way earlier!â
âProbably not,â Lionel mumbled through his mouthful of colorful gummy worms. âYou only caught us because Tim got beat half to death by an edgy crime lord teenager.â
Dick hunched into himself, a myriad of complicated emotions- largely, guilt and fury and heartbreak- wormed its way past his face. Tim glared and threw a chip at his triplet.
âItâs fine, Dick. Lionelâs just being an asshole. Weâre taking care of it. Revenge prank.â Tim explained.
âHe wouldnât have caught us and you know it.â Lionel grumbled.
âIâll help.â Dick mumbled dejectedly.
âYouâll have to get in line, Wing,â Tim went back to his laptop. âMy thirds got first dibs, and Iâm not planning on staying still either. Iâm gonna mess with Jasonâs slush funds.â
âHeâs got a stash of cash locked up in the fourth safe house, but thatâs not interesting. Look!â Lionel proudly displayed a duffle bag- from where he got it from, Dick had no clue- and unzipped it to show batteries, lightbulbs, and random bits and bobs.
âWhat is that?â Dick asked.
âThatâs the second lightbulb in his bathroom light! This is the left battery in his TV remote! And this is half of his back up boot laces. I took all of his 10 mm sockets! And the specialized socket he got for his bike! And this,â Lionel grinned, lifting up a piece of fabric. âIs his pillow case!â
âNiceee.â Tim whistled. He tossed a piece of tech at Lionel. âSneak back into his house and put that in between his pillows. Itâll keep both sides uncomfortably warm.â
âFuck yeah!â
âIs⌠this revenge for almost killing you?â Dick asked.
âItâs either this or complete and total financial ruin, social death, and then actual death.â Tim tapped away at his laptop.
âYouâre kind of scary, you know that?â
âWe know!â Lionel chirped.
âBase, come in.â
âBase,â Tim quickly replied, laser focused on Archyâs call. Lionel and Dick quieted.
âHoodâs lurking outside the school like a creep,â Archy muttered into the comm, papers rustling behind him.
Dick tensed, upset making itself visible once more.
âYou still have the container I gave you this morning in your pocket?â
âYes.â
Tim smirked in a way that made Dick suddenly have a horrible need to shake and lecture him on the moralities of not becoming a villain. âItâs glitter. Purple and pinks.â
ââŚAh.â
âGodspeed, Archy!â Lionel chirped again, sounding slightly more demented.
A moment of silence before-
âOof!â A puff. âOh, no! Iâm so sorry, mister!â
On the other end of the comm, the gruff voice of a beefy teenager spluttered, âWhat- why do you- egh- my mouth! The glitter went into- pleh, pleh! What the fuck, kid?!â
âIâm so sorry! It was supposed to be for a project! I worked so hard to mix the colors right! Wait, stay still, mister! Iâll help!â
Archy, eyes wide and innocent, patted some more glitter onto the vigilante.
âNo, stop! Stop! Youâre getting it on my bike!â
âItâs a pretty color- oh hey, this is open-â
âNo! Thatâs the fuel tank!â
âOh! Whoops! Sorry!â
As chaos spread on the other side of the comms, Tim and Lionel burst into cackles. Dick choked on the marshmallows, helplessly shaking with laughter.
Lionel whacked at Dickâs back, hysterically giggling.
âThatâs- thatâs Archy?â
âArchy pretending to be Lionel pretending to be me yeah. I hope he got glitter in the fuel tank.â Tim grinned.
âWant me to patrol tonight to see if he got the glitter out of his bike?â
Lionel jabbed his pointy elbows onto Dickâs shoulders. âAbsolutely. Distract him, too! I gotta mess with his safe houses. Heâll never feel comfortable in a safe house ever again.â
âDonât go overboard, Lionel.â Tim looked up. âBut also, I changed his WiFi passwords to 123456, so do with that what you will.â
Lionel grinned. Dick mustered up a smile in response, pushing the guilt away. He had a lot to make up to his little brothers, and if terrorizing Jason was how he was going to accomplish that⌠well, Dickâs not feeling too nice about Jason right now.
ââ
Batman squinted suspiciously at a humming Nightwing.
âSomething happen?â He managed to ask.
âHm? Oh, no, I got some nice pictures.â
ââŚI see.â
Batman, regardless of what his history might suggest, knew how to pick his battles. This? This thing that brought Nightwingâs murder smile? This was one battle he was willing to walk away from.
âHey, B, you ever think about adopting more kids?â
Batman choked and promptly grappled away. Nightwing cackled.
âYou canât escape the question!â
Batman ran faster.
#Batman#nightwing: maybe i can adopt this time#nightwing being nightwing#nightwing#tim drake is a triplet au#Jason Todd#Tim Drake#Jason getting effectively glitterbombed

Snow Storm
Steve Harrington x Fem!reader
Summary: You're on a 'date'. Sort of. You're really not feeling it, especially when you realize that the guy has been lying. Steve, witnessing it all during his shift at Family Video, is more than happy to meddle a little.
CW/Disclaimer: Hmmmm things start to get a little heated and sexy but nothing too dramatic. So... idk. Mention of porn?
Author's note: I have a tendency to post fics out of their season, it seems
Words: 3435
Steveâs POV
He watched as your eyes followed the section of horror movies slowly, scanning each title to try and remember if you had seen them before. Next to you, a guy stood impatiently as he eyed the curtain that separated the adult section. Steve watched with interest, as it was all that was currently happening in the store apart from a regular who looked into the slapstick classics on the other side.
âCome on, I just wanna see.â
The guy sighed, nudged you with his arm. You were having none of it and Steve couldnât help but wear an amused smile. Eventually, when you had picked out two movies, you followed him towards the curtain. Steve, feeling particularly menacing today, quickly left the counter and approached the curtain just in time.
âHello there! IDâs please.â
He held his hand open and you took it out immediately, showing that you were 23, a year younger than he was. When the guy handed it over with some reluctance, his curiosity piqued.
âOof, sorry dude, canât let you in. Itâs 21+â
âWhat? Since when?â the guy responded, but Steve clocked something much more interesting.
âClark⌠You said you were 24. Jesus this is why I never wanna say my age first,â you groaned and rolled your eyes. Steve bit down on his lip to stop himself from smiling, but it was too hard not to.
âDamn, whyâd you have to lie to the lady? Thatâs not cool,â Steve added on.
Your POV
âYou werenât supposed to know. Now come on,â Clark mumbled and attempted to pass the curtain but Steve quickly moved in between, the smooth glide of his body grabbing your attention.
âStill a no, Bud.â
You were already tired of his pushy behavior earlier, so while Steve had him occupied, you entered the adult section. You didnât even want to go in there, but it was better than staying.
âGrab some deepthroating! And some lesbian porn?â
Steveâs POV
Steve shook his head at him as he leaned against the wall right next to the curtain.
âJesus, dude. Are you trying to make her run away from you even harder?â
âShut up,â Clark grumbled, side eyeing him with annoyance.
âHm, no,â Steve said, a small smile on his face. âNot for a pipsqueak like you.â
âOh fuck off, says the failed jock whose daddy no longer funds him so he has to do a shitty job like this one, the highlight of his day being to be a total asshole to a guy trying to have sex with a girl.â
Steve stared ahead of him, taking a deep inhale before replying.
âYeah. Sure. Thatâs a neat description of you and me both. Emphasis on the trying.â
âThe dayâs not over yet.â
âOh but it is, pipsqueak. Cause youâre gonna turn around and leave now.â
They looked at each other, eyes dark and challenging. Steve wasnât sure what came over him. He just knew that he needed to do you the favor of getting rid of him.
âThe hell I am,â Clark bristled.
Steve chuckled darkly. Woah, when did he become this super villain huh? Hmm. Interesting.
âOh you are. She wants you gone and so do I.â
âYou donât know shit about what she wants.â
âLet me go ask,â Steve said as his hand lazily slid the curtain aside. âWhatâs her name again?â he asked, pretending like he hadnât checked your name on your ID. He didnât wait for his answer and walked behind the curtain despite his protests. This, however, made him miss out on the emergency alert on the radio.
âWe interrupt your favorite tunes for an important message. The blizzard is getting worse. If you havenât yet, go home. Chances are you wonât be able to if you wait much longer.â
Clark, however, did. Besides, he wasnât that much of an idiot. He knew he had lost his chances with you the moment he tried to get you to grab his favorite porn videos. Whatever.
Your POV
âSo⌠see anything you like?â
His voice startled you, but at the same time it was met with relief from your end that it wasnât Clark. Steve slowly walked closer and quickly noticed you didnât seem interested in any of it in the slightest and chuckled.
âOr are you just planning to stay here forever until he leaves?â
You shrugged.
âSomething like that. Also, you donât just ask a lady about her favorite porn, Harrington.â
Delighted by your response, he cocked his hip against the wall as he crossed his arms with a grin.
âI mean⌠we both already know ClarkâsâŚâ Steve said jokingly, earning a smile from you.
âAll men are the same,â you sighed. Steve pouted and scanned the titles for something interesting.
âYou say that now but⌠wait until you find out that my favorite is actually⌠Granny getting aâ nope, nope, forget I started that sentence,â Steve said quickly as he put back the tape he just had in his hands.
âAll the grannies over the world are crying right now,â you said sadly, a smile on your lips.
âToo bad, Iâve set my eye on girls who actually are the age they say they are.â
âIâll admit thatâs the most interesting belated opening line Iâve ever heard,â you said dryly.
âAs long as it catches your intrigue, Iâm satisfied,â Steve said with a playful, cocky grin.
You grabbed a tape and smirked, holding it out for him.
âSo Iâm guessing you donât need yourself a⌠Satisfyer 2.0, then?â You asked, holding up the tape which had sensual âinstructionsâ for a vibrator.
Steve laughed and shook his head.
âThese satisfy just fine,â Steve said, holding up his hands. Your mind drifted off to what he could do with those big hands. Not just to himself but toâ
â⌠left?â
Steve had apparently just asked you a question.
âHuh?â
He smirked and nodded towards the curtain.
âI think he left. Just heard the bell above the door.â
âMaybe someone came in thoughâŚâ you wondered out loud.
âMaybe. Iâll go check.â He spun on his heel and approached the curtain whenâ
âWaitââ It was out before you knew it. Steve halted, turned back around and looked at you patiently.
âYeah?â
âIf he is in fact not gone, can you⌠get rid of him somehow? I normally wouldnât ask but heâs just such aââ
âDick.â
âYeahâŚâ You smiled a small smile and watched as he approached you again. His eyes were on you, taking in even the smallest changes in your expression.
âSo is he like⌠your boyfriend?â Steve asked softly. âOr uh, was?â
You chuckled and shook your head.
âNah, this was the second date which I had reluctantly agreed to.â
âWhyâd you say yes?â Steve asked curiously. He followed your movement as you skimmed some more tapes and smiled at the playfully quipped corner of your mouth. âI mean, it didnât look like you wanted to be here.â
âI didnât. I just⌠I kind of never said yes but he just showed up on my doorstep and then I felt too bad to not go with him, so⌠yeah. Didnât know he had plans to rent some porn and spend the second date in his bedroom or whatever.â
Steve crossed his arms and nodded thoughtfully.
âHmmh⌠yeah that sucks. Well, Iâll make sure there wonât be a next time,â he said as he shortly winked at you and once again turned on his heel, this time actually continuing his walk through the curtain. He was out there for a few minutes when he turned back with a frown.
âUh⌠Y/N? Weâve got a little⌠hiccup.â
You approached him with a frown of your own and followed him to the front, unsure what to expect. What you certainly didnât expect, was to see a snow storm going on outside.
âApparently thereâs a code red. Just heard a repeat of it on the radio but it keeps breaking up. They urge everyone to stay inside until itâs over.â
Steve stuffed his hands into his pockets and stared ahead. It was the worst storm he had ever witnessed and the fact that nothing had seemed to be going on apart from some gentle snowfall surprised him.
âStay⌠here?â you asked eventually.
âI mean, yeah? You canât drive in this weather, itâs too dangerous. So is walking. SoâŚâ
âBut I canât justâŚâ
âHey, I donât bite,â Steve said softly, nudging your arm with his own. âBesides, Clark seems to have left after all. Maybe he heard the warning and decided to bolt? If so, very nice to let us know as well but I will say that I wasnât nice to him, soâŚâ
You smirked.
âWhat did you say to him?â
âNothing, nothing. I mean, genuinely, I didnât say much. Just that he had to fuck off, using different wording. He didnât seem all that ready to leave when I went to look for you though.â
âOh well, good riddance.â
âAgreed.â
Steve walked forward and locked the door, putting the closed sign up front just in case.
âLetâs go to the back, itâs warmer there. And thereâs a coffee machine.â
And so your âStuck at Family Video with heartthrob Steve Harringtonâ began.
Once you were settled around the table in the break room, Steve gave you an odd glance. It was hard to figure out what he meant by it, although his frown disappeared the moment he got up from his chair.
âCoffee? Tea? I think we even got a few of those instant hot choc packages,â he offered, his back already turned to you as he searched the cabinets.
âOh, hot chocolate sounds nice actually. Is it just me or is it⌠still kinda cold, even here?â you asked hesitantly. Steve nodded ruefully and grabbed two mugs from the cabinet he was currently facing.
âAh, yeah⌠it looks like the heating is struggling again. I could kick it to see if it helps but⌠chances are itâll get worse.â
âHow could it get worse?â
Steve shrugged.
âBeats me, but Iâm speaking from experience. Sometimes it does the trick and other times it really, really doesnât.â
âLetâs not risk it then. At least we have a warm drink, right?â
Steve nodded and grabbed the kettle. You watched him busy himself with putting it on, emptying the hot chocolate powder and grabbing two spoons. He was humming along softly to whichever song he seemed to have stuck in his head and shot you a smile when he caught you looking.
âSo what do you usuallyââ
Suddenly, the room turned pitch dark. You heard Steve swear softly when he shuffled back towards the table and bumped into a chair.
âUh⌠okay. Thatâs⌠kind of a problem,â he mumbled as he managed to sit back down. âNo hot choc I guess, sorry. No⌠heating either. Maybe we should check how the weatherâs doing?â he opted.
âYeah, sure.â
There was a small strip of light seeping in from the doorway, slowly turning brighter as you adjusted to your surroundings again. Warm fingers teased your arm before your wrist was grabbed and Steve helped you up. As he opened the door, the brightness of the snow outside was almost blinding. The thin windows made it a lot colder at the front, making you shiver as you watched the outside. It wasnât just snow anymore, as heavy hail rained down, large enough to leave dents into cars. Steve groaned and let go of your wrist.
âLet me check if I can get the power back on,â he mumbled, more to himself than to you. He grabbed a flashlight from below the counter and went to the back again. After a few minutes, he returned, looking apologetic.
âSorry, nothing. I guess itâs my fault youâre stuck here, huh?â he sighed. âIf I hadnât bothered Clark as much youâd be on your way already. Or if I just⌠I donât know. Sorry, I guess.â
âItâs not your fault the weather decided to fuck us over, Steve,â you said with a soft smile which he returned with some hesitance. âWhat do you usually do for fun around here?â
Steve gave you a wry smile.
âWatch movies?â
âAh, yeah.â
There was a short silence until Steve clapped in his hands and rubbed them together. âIâve got this huge blanket in the back, brought it here once because Rob, Robin, my colleague, gets very cold easily so sometimes weâd just huddle under the blanket during breaks and stuff. I think we might as well sit out here, at least itâs light⌠for now.â
You nodded, smiling as you thought of Robin Buckley. You knew her of course. Not super well, but well enough to know she was nice.
âYeah, itâs already getting dark, huh? A blanket sounds good though.â
Steve nodded and once again disappeared for a short moment, until he returned with a bright blue blanket, which he partially draped on the floor in front of the counter before he motioned for you to sit down and wrapped it around your shoulders. He joined you after grabbing you both some water and put the other end around his shoulders once he settled down.
âHowâs this?â
You were really trying not to let it get to you that you were cozying up to Steve right now. Heat was radiating off of him and it made you wonder if he was actually cold, or if he was basically doing the whole âitâs better to stick together for body warmthâ kind of thing. With the addition of clothes, of course.
âItâs nice. Better than without for sure,â you told him softly. Steveâs shoulder brushed yours and soon enough you felt the pressure build up until he was actually resting against you. Not in an uncomfortable way at all. It was really⌠nice, actually.
âYour parents? Do you think theyâll worry?â
âAh, no. My momâs visiting my grandma in another state actually and my dadâs no longer around, so. Doubt he can worry,â you joked lightly. âWhat about yours?â
Steve snorted, then realized it probably wasnât all that funny and shrugged.
âDunno, theyâre somewhere in Europe now, I think? So no.â
Another silence. It was by that point that you remembered how little you actually knew about Steve Harrington. Sure, he had been popular in school for some time, and then he wasnât, and then he graduated. But you had never really talked to him other than giving him a pen or two in English class. You were from different social ladders, really. Although, right now you felt quite equal to him, somehow. Which felt weird, considering he looked like a freshly cut out of a painting model and you were⌠you. Mr handsome decided to steal you away from your brain, which honestly, was a good thing.
âHey, wanna play a game?â he asked, peering into your eyes as he leaned forward a little. You watched him with newfound curiosity.
âWhat kind of game?â
âI spy with my little eye.â
âIsnât that just called âI spyâ?â you wondered aloud.
âDunno. So. Yes?â
âWhat else is there, right?â
Steve grinned and rested his head against the counter.
âThatâs right. Okay. I spy with my little eye⌠something green.â
âThat tape,â you said as you pointed. Steve leaned into your space, following your hand.
âWhich one?â
âThe green one.â
âThere are maaaany green ones.â
âThe green one with⌠Fuck I canât read,â you sighed as you tried to squint. Steve laughed warmly, which you could feel the tremble of against your shoulder. âOkay so. The sci-fi shelf, yes? Fifth on the second row.â
âAaaah, I see it now. Nope!â
âYou knew that wasnât it from the start.â
âI had to make sure.â
âMhm, sure.â
Steve grinned and nudged you with his shoulder before tapping your thigh with his hand.
âYour turn, your turn!â
He left his hand on your thigh. Oh shit. Yeah, you were totally normal about that. You could still think. You could definitely still find some kind of object that you could useâ
âWait, I didnât even guess it, how is it my turn?!â you questioned. Steve, who had been looking at⌠somewhere that wasnât your eyes, quickly lifted his eyes to meet yours and grinned.
âRight. Guess!â âYour vest?â
âYou are absolutely right. See? Your turn.â
âIt wasnâtâ okay. Hm⌠I spy with my little eye⌠something red.â
âYour cheeks.â
âShut up, my cheeks arenât red.â
âThey are a little.â
âIf you keep talking about it, yes, they will turn red.â
âOh? Is that so?â
Once again Steve leaned forward to look you straight in the eye, this time lifting a hand to cup your cheek gently. âHm, theyâre a little pink at the very least.â
You could feel the heat rising to your cheeks and took his hand off your cheek as you looked away. Steve chuckled softly and turned his hand around so he could grab yours.
âFine, then⌠the bike outside?â
âNope.â
âDamn, I thought that was it for sure. That red blob of paint that Keith never managed to get off the ceiling?â
âThatâs it!â
Steve grinned at you and gave your hand a squeeze. For a moment you had forgotten about his hand, too drunk on his animated face. Fuck.
âI spy with my little eyeâŚâ Steve turned his head to look at you and smiled. âSomething pretty.â
âWhat?â
âPurple! Purple.â
âMy shirt.â
âSo clever.â
It was getting darker rapidly and soon enough, even your little game became harder to play. You did some other ones, word games, guessing games, whatever you could think of. The blanket was wrapped closer around you both now, as the store became colder without the heating. You sat hip to hip, your arms a little awkward sometimes although neither of you really minded.
âWould you have stayed here if I hadnât been around?â you asked softly.
âHmm, nah, I donât think so.â
âWhy?â
âBecause I donât really care ifâ I mean, Iâd only be risking myself in that case.â
âThatâs a bad reason. Youâre just as important.â
âAm I?â Steve asked, and for some reason you felt like he needed an honest answer.
âYeah, you are, Steve.â
âHmâŚâ A beat of silence. âI spy with my little eye⌠someone pretty.â
âYou canât even see.â
âIâve memorized her by now.â
âIs it the blonde babe cardboard cutout?â
Steve, not expecting that answer at all, burst out laughing.
âFuck, no,â a giggle, âit wasnât.â
âOh⌠hm. What about that girl from the ring? Samara?â
âShush.â
âOr the woman from that movie whereââ âSsshh.â
You felt his hand cup your cheek and it was as if your heart was gonna jump out of your chest at any moment now. His breath tickled your cheek, warm and comfortable against your cold nose. Your lips parted on their own, eyes closing even though there was only an outline of his face to see.
âYou sure itâs not the blond babe?â you murmured teasingly.
Steve giggled softly and shook his head, causing the stray strands of his hair to tickle you a little.
âPositive.â
A faint sound of lips being licked, and then his lips brushed against yours. Soft and pliable, eager to taste yours. He hummed softly, pleased, as he pulled you closer. You were easily pulled into his lap as his tongue teased your bottom lip for access. Hands smoothed up and down your waist, the blanket forgotten as your kiss provided enough heat between the two of you. It was silent, save from the gasps and soft, pleasant hums leaving you both. He gently moved his hips while simultaneously guiding yours, a gentle moan leaving him as he found a rhythm. His lips found your neck and your hand made its way into his hair to have something to grasp onto. One hand found the hem of your shirt and he was about to lift it up whenâ
Brightness. Light. The electricity was back on. Meaning⌠everyone outside could see you. If there had been anyone, that is. Still, it broke the moment instantly as Steve dropped his hand to your thigh and looked up at you.
âShit,â he murmured, a lopsided grin on his face. âThey really know how to spoil the fun today, huh?â
You smiled down at him and turned around to look outside, one hand resting on his chest for balance.
âHm⌠I donât know. It seems safe to go back home.â
Steve dug his fingers into your hips with eagerness before leaving a soft kiss on your lips.
âYour place or mine?â
end.

The Perfect Cocktail
Synopsis: You and San get into a fight that leads to Seonghwa and Siyeon having to mix up the perfect cocktail to get the both of you to make up. Pairings: Bff!San x fem!reader ; Renjun from NCT dream is also mentioned in the fic but not as a love interest per se; Siyeon from Dreamcatcher is Seonghwa's fraternal twin in this because I said so genre: crack, fluff, angst if u squint and look really hard Warnings: alcohol drinking and going to a club, oc jokes about offing herself once because of school, Siyeon jokes about a dilf professor WC: 2.8k (I got way too carried away this was supposed to be a blurb đ); flashbacks are in italics a/n: this is fiction, so anything that is written in this piece does not portray these people's character irl. Please always read the warnings carefully. I got way too carried away with this one, but I hope you guys enjoy it! HIMYM is one of my favorite TV shows and I was inspired to write this fic because I rewatched a couple episodes. I also have no clue why I keep writing about clubs and sports, I have like 0 background in that so if there are any inaccuracies then you'll just have to deal with it lmao. I highkey think the formatting of this fic is off but as always, your feedbacks are always deeply appreciated. Hope you enjoy the fic!
âYou know, if it bothers you so much, you should just go and talk to him.â Siyeon points out, taking you out of your train of thought.
âI mean, I couldâŚâ But you wouldnât. Siyeon shakes her head.
You and San had a lot in common. You met at the age of six when you both decided you wanted to learn taekwondo. You shared a love for mint chocolate chip ice cream, a dislike for vegetables, and a deep passion for cats. But above all, you were both painfully in love with each other and too afraid to admit it. In your years of friendship, this was one of the biggest fights youâve had to date.Â
[ 1 week ago ]
âI canât believe you, San. You know how much this club means to me!â You point at San, your eyes are filled with disbelief. The arts club was something that you had joined on a whim during the first week of freshman year, but as time lapsed you grew to love the small group of artists in it.Â
âIt was only a suggestion, I swear. I didnât know they meant the arts club. Câmon, y/n, you gotta believe me.â He massages the bridge of his nose, then looks at you.Â
âGod, you jocks never fucking think about anyone else but yourselves.â You mumble. A hurt expression quickly flashes on Sanâs face but he quickly regains his composure. You shake your head and cross your arms over your chest. The lunch in front of the both of you is forgotten as the atmosphere gets more heated.Â
âLook, when I suggested getting funding from somewhere else, I had no idea theyâd take it from the arts club. Hell, I didnât even think theyâd take my idea seriously. Y/n, we need the money to get better equipment. You know this. We might actually have a fighting chance against SMU this year!â San argues with you.Â
âWe had to fight tooth and nail for that money, San. You know those funds were going to help renovate the studio.â You bite back.Â
Siyeon and Seonghwa exchanged concerned glances. As fraternal twins, they were extremely good at communicating with each other, almost to the point of telepathy. They shared a look that they knew meant one thing.Â
We need to do something about this.
[ 5 days later ]
You groan as you plop yourself on your bed. Today was a long day. You woke up late to your first lecture of the day, scraped your knee because you tripped while running to said class, and had to skip lunch for an emergency meeting with your groupmates for your health ethics class. You silently cursed at your professor for thinking that an impromptu group project was a good idea.Â
âI despise that man.â You mumble into your pillow, still laying face down on it.Â
âI donât know, if it wasnât unethical Iâd probably tap that.â You lift your head off of your pillow just to throw Siyeon a disgusted look.Â
âMr. Kyle?! Gross.â
âWhat? Heâs tall and cute. He gives me Carlisle Cullen vibesâ Siyeon reasons out.
âHeâs also 33, Siyeon.â She just chuckles at my words.Â
âWell, enough about your professor. You need a break. You arenât looking too good.â Siyeon looks at me with genuine concern.Â
I probably looked worse than I felt. It was midterms week and deadlines were piling up. To make matters worse, you and San had not talked to each other for the whole week. But both of you were too stubborn to apologize to each other.Â
âGod, tell me about it. Iâm one minor inconvenience away from becoming a statistic.â You joke.Â
âWellâŚ.â Siyeon starts, I look over at her. âMidterms week ends this week, we could go clubbing this Saturday?â I groan at this suggestion.Â
âSiyeon, you did not just suggest that. Remember the last time we went out clubbing?â
âOne more martini, kind sir!â Siyeon giggled at the bartender. He handed her the nth martini of the night, and she waddled her way back to the booth where you, San, Seonghwa, and Hongjoong, Seonghwaâs friend, were stationed.Â
âYou know what would be stupid? If you guys dared us to make out. Wouldnât that be so stupid?â Siyeon giggles again, while nursing her martini. Your eyes widen as you shake your head. She leans into you, making heart eyes at you then looking over to the boys.Â
âI dare you guys to dare us to make out.â
Needless to say, you were adamant to get her to sober up quickly that night.Â
âEvery. Time.â You deadpan at Siyeon.Â
âWhat?! We had a great timeeeee.â She whines out her sentence. She gives me her best set of puppy eyes and looks at me with a pout.Â
âPretty please.âÂ
âFine. But no martinis. I mean it.â You could never say no to her puppy eyes.Â
âI only suggested that because it would be so stupidâŚ. So stupid.â she mumbles. But she grins inwardly, the plan had to work.Â
She sends Seonghwa a text.Â
SY: she folded, going clubbing tom SH: san just agreed to tomorrow too SH: operation perfect cocktail is a go SY: i did not agree to calling it that SY: nerd đŤľ
[ Earlier that morning ]
The twins are sitting at their apartment table munching on some stale cereal. They clearly had a lot on their mind. It had been 4 days and you and San were still actively trying to avoid each other. This fight had been going on too long for comfort. Usually, you and San resolved fights within 2 days of starting them. You guys were whipped for each other, but too stupid to actually realize it.Â
âWe need to interfere.â Seonghwa breaks the silence.Â
âYeah, but they clearly wonât talk to each other. At least, not sober.â Siyeon reasons out.
âWait no, thatâs actually a great idea. We need to get those bitches drunk!â He suggests, pointing his spoon around.
âBut, we canât just get them any kind of drunk. We need a plan, Hwa.âÂ
âRight, right. We need to get them the right kind of drunk. How about something mellow, red wine?â He suggests.Â
âI donât know, red wine has a weird effect on y/n. She reaches like, a sad point of clarity.âÂ
The room was buzzing with excitement as the countdown for the new year was about to start. Siyeon was sitting across y/n, at a college bar sipping on some red wine.Â
âB+. All my life I just wanted to be an A, but Iâm a B+. And I just have to live with that?â she stares at her glass with a forlorn expression.Â
Happy New Year!
âIf we want them to open up, I say we go straight up gin.â Siyeon gets a piece of paper to write down their ideas.Â
âHmmm, last time San got gin drunk it was at that trashy sports bar. He almost got into a fight that nightâ Seonghwa shakes his head.Â
San was trudging through the dimly lit hallway trying to find the menâs room. He turns left and notices another guy walking towards him.Â
âLook at this dude. Who does he think he is? Walking to me, showing me no respect. Iâll show this chump what Iâm made of.â San thinks to himself.Â
He continues walking down the hallway, taking large strides trying to size up his opponent. Just as he is about to make contact with his newly sworn enemyâ thump.
What the?Â
Oh. It was a mirror.Â
âHow about cocktails⌠Pina Coladas?â Seonghwa suggests.
âWell, when san has one of those he gets really into himself.â Seonghwa recalls.Â
It was a halloween tradition for the five of you to hang out at the twinâs apartment and have cocktails. And as the night progressed everyone was getting buzzed with the âpina ghoul-adasâ made by Hongjoong. Everyone was gathered at the front of the television watching Gonjiamâ all except San who was too scared to even look at the TV. Instead, he was stationed at the front of a full-length mirror nursing the yellow drink in his hand and swaying to the sounds of the movie. He was looking at his own reflection with sensual feline eyes. Clearly he was feeling himself.
âHey guys. I dare you to dare us to make out.â San playfully winks at his own reflection.Â
âSannie, you know thatâs another mirror right?â Hongjoong points out. But San is too busy flirting with his own reflection.
âTheyâre idiots.â Seonghwa sighs.Â
âAgreed.â Siyeon nods.Â
âThis better work. I canât have another lunch with the both of them going at each other. They ruined taco tuesday.â Seonghwa says solemnly.Â
âWe got this.â Siyeon smirks.Â
If there was one thing the Park twins were great at, it was meddling in other peopleâs lives. To this day, you still shudder at what they did to Chris after he stole and reformatted Hongjoongâs laptop. You never wanted to get on either of their bad sides.Â
[ Saturday night ]
Dolled up and ready to finally let loose, you and Siyeon book an uber going to the club that you guys usually frequent. But when you get there, you arenât too thrilled to see San standing near the entrance with Seonghwa and Hongjoong. You look over to Soyeon with an unimpressed look.Â
âReally?â You deadpan at her.
âThe boys wanted to come with, okay? And I knew you would cancel on me if you knewâŚ.â She smiles sheepishly at you. But you know what? You were not going to let some stupid boy get in between you and a fun time.Â
âGod, I need to get drunk.â You sigh to yourself. This night better be a fun one.Â
You guys walk into the club after lining up to get in. The place is teeming with sweaty bodies dancing and grinding on the dancefloor. Usually, you would have cringed at the sight of so many people. But with the 3 shots of tequila you and Siyeon drank as pre-game, the positive buzz was humming through your body and your inhibitions were starting to melt away. You guys make it to the bar but there is a line to get drinks. Hongjoong leaves for the menâs room, and the twins volunteer to get the first round of drinks, leaving you and San to awkwardly sit in silence as you wait for the twins to come back.Â
Lining up at the bar, the twins look over to you and San basically ignoring each other. Sitting across from each other at the booth, it looks like the both of you havenât even said anything to each other.Â
âOkay, weâve cross-referenced every alcoholic drink with their reactions. Whatâs the right drink for this situation?â Siyeon she eyes the both of you sitting at the booth.
âThey arenât even looking at each otherâŚ. Hmm, we need a drink that will start a fight.â Seonghwa says.Â
Gin.
-----
âGod and weâre back to this again. You canât honestly believe that I would suggest something like that and be serious about it y/n.â Sanâs eyebrows furrow at your unimpressed expression.
âI donât know, San. Can I? I knew you didnât like me hanging out with Renjun but this would be taking it way too far.â You roll your eyes at him. Maybe it was the alcohol buzzing in you. Or maybe it was the over stimulating environment. But whatever it was, you were getting fired up. In fact, you both were.Â
âWhat does this have to do with me not liking Renjun?! I donât like the bitch but I wouldnât backstab you like that like some crazy psycho!â Bringing up Renjun clearly bothered San a lot. Of course, he didnât like him. He could tell that he also had a crush on you. It takes one to know one, you could say. But he would rather manscape coach Liu before he admitted that out loud. Deep down, he knew that some sick part of him was a little happy that you would spend a little less time with the boba-eyed boy. But, he didnât want to tear down something that he knew meant a lot to you.Â
âWell if you really were my friend, you shouldâve fought for me!â You point at him.Â
âOkay, now that we have them where we want them. We need a drink that will make them emotionally vulnerable. Iâm talking full on Kim Kardashian ugly crying.â Seonghwa says.Â
âRight. Right. We need something that will turn subtext into text.âSiyeon scans through the handy notes that she took down.Â
Whisky.
-----
âI just felt like I was never good enough to be your friend. Iâm not talented in drawing like you are. I could never really relate to how you and Renjun banter over your arts and stuff. It felt like I was being replaced!â He tears up. His pout and his red face was melting your heart.Â
âOh Sannie, I could never replace you. I was just so hurt when the clubâs funds were going to be used for something else. I was so upset that I took it out on you. I just wanted something to be involved in, you know? To feel important.â You slur out your heartfelt words.Â
ây/n, you are so important to me. Like super duper atomic bomb important.â San hiccups.Â
âIt just felt like you were getting so involved with soccer that you would forget about meâŚâ You pout, tears starting to gather in your eyes.Â
âOh god, I never thought about how you would feel.â San cries out.
âI never thought about how YOU would feel. Iâm such a dingus.â You wipe away your tears and frown. You see a bit of your mascara in your finger. But you felt like a weight was lifted off of your shoulder.Â
âMan that got depressing real fast.â Siyeon looks over at both of your forms drunkenly leaning on one another after that heart-to-heart conversation.Â
âWe need them to let loose a little. I mean, thatâs what we came here for anyway. Might as well give them a little of what they actually came here for.â Seonghwa points out.
Pina Colada.
-----
You and San are slowly swaying your hips to the tunes of Charli XCXâs top hits. The strobe lights are bouncing off the walls, the bass of the songs vibrating throughout the club so hard they make your heart hurt. The both of you were finally having some fun after midterms week fried your brain.Â
âWooooo! Fuck health ethics, fuck my professor, and fuck midterms week!â You nod to the beat of the song.Â
San was dancing in front of a mirror placed on the corner of the club, just having a great time twirling the little umbrella that came with his drink. He was making the same sensual look at himself in the mirror, biting his lip even.Â
âGod I missed this feeling.â Seonghwa sighs in satisfaction, looking over at the two of you breaking it down to Guess by Charli XCX.Â
âI know right. Now I know why we love meddling in peopleâs lives so much. Dance my puppets, dance!â Siyeon rubs her hands together like a villain in a disney movie.Â
âOkay, letâs end the night before they black out and forget everything. We need to end it with a bang.â Seonghwa says.Â
Beer.
-----
âI love you.â San slurs while stumbling across the pavement with his one arm wrapped around your waist.
âNo, I love YOU.â You giggle and boop his nose. You are swayed by his unsteady walking.Â
âGod, we are just so loving. Nobody is doing it like us, y/nie.â San smiles thoughtfully.Â
The both of you are a giggling mess as the twins try and haul you into Hongjoongâs car. The drive to the twinsâ apartments was riddled with a bunch more âI love youâs being drunkenly slurred between the both of you. Hongjoong, who was the drunk driver, was nervously looking at the backseat every now and then, hoping and praying that neither of you vomit in his car. But the real challenge was getting the both of you up 3 flights of stairs.Â
After successfully hauling the both of you into the apartment, you and San lay a tangled mess on their pull-out couch. The both of you are out cold once the twins managed to change most of your soiled clothes. Sleeping like babies while cuddling each other, the twins look exhausted but satisfied at their work.Â
âMission Perfect Cocktail: Success!â Seonghwa whisper-shouts while pumping his fist in the air.
âI never agreed to call it that.â Siyeon repeats herself.
âWhatever, you donkey. You just hate that Iâm more creative than you.â Seonghwa snaps back at Siyeon.Â
âOh please, like I could ever be jealous of your virginity corner.â Siyeon claps back.Â

wilmon⨠& "I'll do anything"
hereâs a little university!AU that Iâve had in my head since the S1 days haha. again, not even going to pretend this is 5 sentences.
âIâll do anything,â Simon groans, wiping down the last of the tables as Ayub laughs unhelpfully behind him. He rolls out his shoulders, sore from a long shift of carrying plates and trays. âSeriously, man, he wonât leave me alone. Every time I turn around, heâs right behind me - like take a fucking hint.â
âIs he still sitting next to you in lecture?â
âYes,â Simon cries, throwing up his hands in frustration. He drops into a chair, watching the rhythmic motions of Ayub sweeping the floor. âLike - the room seats two hundred and thereâs barely fifteen of us here - why the fuck do you want to sit right next to me?â
Ayub snorts, âIâm telling you, Simme, heâs into you.â
Simon makes a face, âDonât start with this shit again. Please.â
âI donât get why you hate him so much.â
Simon looks at him in deep disbelief. âAre we forgetting the fact that he disappeared during our sociology final last year and I had to present it by myself?â Simon tips his head back, groaning at the embarrassing memory. âI had to retake that class because of him - and he didnât even fucking apologize.â
âSara said he had a family emergency,â Ayub points out gently, âremember?â
âYeah right, thatâs just an excuse and you know it.â Simon rolls his eyes, slumping back into the chair in exhaustion, âIâd get it if like - oh I canât miss work today or else Iâm going to get fired and then I canât pay my rent - but come on. I saw his apartment, bro - mama and papa definitely help him out. No way heâs paying for that place on his own.â
Ayub sighs, setting the broom down and emptying the dustpan in the trash. âBro, you complain about him all the time - just tell him to get lost.â
Itâs a testament to their years of friendship that Simon doesnât cross the room and strangle him. âSo now I canât even complain?â He snaps, the slow simmer of irritation thatâs been building up throughout the dinner rush finally catching up to him.
Ayubâs expression shifts then, his eyes suddenly going wide. âUh, Simme, you might not want to - â
Simon gets to his feet, crumpling the rag in his hand as he stalks towards the front. âHeâs a fucking trust-fund baby,â he rants, moving to swipe aggressively across the counter. âYou really think telling him to fuck off is going to work? Wilhelm is literally the single most insufferable human being I have ever fucking met and - â
A loud clattering interrupts him, followed by the sound of rapidly shuffling footsteps. When Simon turns around, the first thing he sees is two empty coffee cups on their side, the contents of which are dripping out over the table heâd just finished wiping down. Then, his stomach sinks.
Wilhelm is standing in front of the door, looking adorably windswept in his expensive wool coat. His cheeks are flushed, his expression mortified. âSorry,â his breathes, voice cracking as he scrambles for a stack of tissues, âIâm so sorry. I didnât mean to - â
Thankfully, Ayub is the first speak. âHey, man, itâs just a spill. donât worry about it, okay? Iâll take care of it, let me just go grab a mop.â
Simon throws him a panicked look at being left alone, but Ayub only shrugs in return as he makes his way to the back.
âI need a mop,â he tells him simply, shouldering past Simon with a pat on his arm.
Simon watches him go, swallowing tightly. Thereâs a long moment of deep, uncomfortable silence. Finally, he forces himself to take a deep breath. âWe close in four minutes, sorry,â he says, voice thin.
Wilhelmâs head is bowed, eyes trained on the floor. âYeah,â he mumbles, âI know.â
Guilt churns in Simonâs stomach like acid. âI didnât mean for you to hear that,â he offers then, âIâm sorry.â
âItâs okay,â Willeâs tone is robotic. When his gaze finally flickers up to meet Simonâs, his eyes look like broken glass. âSorry about the mess.â He runs an awkward hand through his hair, even as the strands tumble back into his face almost immediately âIâll - Iâll just - â he jabs a thumb at the door, turning to leave.
Simonâs feet carry him across the room before his mind can catch up with his actions. âWille, wait,â he begs. âThat was - Iâm really sorry.â
Wille turns to look at him as he pulls the door open again, backlit by the setting sun. His eyes are dark and sad, âItâs fine, Simon.â
Simon wrings his hand, âWe - we open at eleven tomorrow,â he offers nonsensically, âif you come back then - â
The ghost of an unhappy smile flickers across Wilhelmâs face. âI wasnât here for a sandwich,â he shoves his hands in his pockets as he leans back against the open door. âI just thought. Youâre always drinking flat whites in class. And I thought - that I could, you know, bring you one and we could like - â
Dimly, Simon thinks heâs going to be sick.
Wille looks away then, blinking rapidly like heâs fighting back tears. âAnyway,â he clears his throat, âI got the message. Iâll leave you alone now,â he steps out onto the street, shooting him a last, small smile. âHave a good night, Simon.â
Simon opens his mouth to say - what exactly he doesnât know. Maybe he means to apologize once more, to ask Wille to come back inside, to offer to buy him another coffee.
Instead, the door swings shut between them before he can decide and Simon watches through paned glass as Willeâs late evening silhouette disappears out into the crowd.

adopted baby Guard Din idea that I am never going to write
because it would involve logistics and quiet moments and idle life which I am very down for reading but cannot for the LIFE of me actually sit down and write
So the war ends, Palps is outed as a Sith and an asshole and dies somehow, and the Senate eventually decides that the clones do count as people and thus are allowed to leave the GAR if they want. Give the bureaucrats another few years and they might even give out backpay and citizenship, so long as you stay in the service--wait what do you mean the entire Guard is resigning. What do you mean they've already left orbit?? WHAT DO YOU MEAN THERE ARE NOW MILLIONS OF FILES ON THE HOLONET ABOUT THE SENATE'S SHADY DEALINGS???
Guard, collectively: lol cya suckers
Fox is of course one of the last ones out, and since this was all planned on the down low, everyone's been split into groups so they can take commercial flights, since they're not about to be accused of stealing ships. (They also leave their weapons and their armor behind, in a giant macabre pile in the middle of Corrie HQ. Even their helmets, their faces, they discard: it's time for a rebirth.)
He and Thorn and a few other Corries have a stopover on some tiny station, waiting a week for a delayed transport to arrive, and in the meantime they're approached by some locals who just fled the planet below. Separatist remnants attacked their homes, forcing them to leave everything and everyone behind; can the big strong clones do anything about it?
The Big Strong Clones: Oh shit we finally get to kick some Seppie ass? Sign us the FUCK up.
The eager group does not include Fox, who could not care less about the Separatists and would very much like to finally catch up on his sleep. Unfortunately that means that the group that goes down to the planet is Unsupervised.
(Thorn does not count as supervision. Thorn, bereft of Senate oversight, has finally allowed his Inner Chaos Gremlin to fully emerge. Thorn needs more supervision than the shinies.)
Thorn, three days later, waking Fox from half-hearted sleep by dropping an entire natborn child on him: Hey boss, look what we found! None of the refugees claimed him, so we called dibs. Can we keep him? Fox, staring at the child: ...
Din, staring back: ...
Fox: ...no..?
Din: *sad but understanding big brown eyes*
Fox: Nevermind this is my child now.
Din has gone from two parents to one parent and hundreds of overprotective brothers.
Eventually his group makes it to their destination, Din in tow. I am uncertain of what the destination is but it is a planet that is as far away from Coruscant that the Corries could find. I am tempted for Tatooine not because I like Tatooine (I share Anakin's loathing of sand and deserts) but because Luke's description of Tatooine in ANH was 'if there's a bright center to the universe, this is the planet the furthest from'.Â
Corries, hearing that: Fuck it sounds perfect.Â
Anyway they make it to Tatooine, there is probably purchasing of some shitty land/buildings that nobody wants out in the wastes bc crime, scum, villainy, etc, but it's not like they have problems taking care of anything that tries to mess with them.Â
Where did they get the funds?
Shh don't ask about it.
Stone takes up moisture farming. Thire takes up farming-farming. Thorn shoots gleefully at anything that shows up unannounced within a ten-mile radius. Literally everybody dotes on Din. There are a surprising amount of peaceful days.
Eventually some dumb shiny goes: Hey don't kids need friends? Shouldn't we set up some playdates for him or something?
The shiny is not called dumb for asking the question, but they are called dumb for thinking that the question would only ever be taken rhetorically. Fox disappears for two weeks and then comes back with a black eye and a yowling hissing Boba tucked under one arm, looking stupidly pleased with himself.
(Boba is also pleased to be back with people he knows will keep him safe. Boba will not admit to this under threat of death or dismemberment. Boba is a SERIOUS SCARY ADULT BOUNTY HUNTER.)
Boba also decides he will be Mortal Enemies with Din, which after about ten minutes of meeting him morphs into If Anyone Hurts Din I Will Kill Everyone In This Room And Then Myself because all clones be the same, really.
Din has gained another brother/bestie. (Or potential future boyfriend, whichever floats your boat.)
Somehow they still end up overthrowing the Hutts.
Officially the GAR knew and knows nothing about the Guard leaving Coruscant as soon as the metaphorical paint was dry on their sentient status.
Unofficially Fox's batch harangues him every single day for photos of his new kid(s). They eventually show up unannounced, demanding time with their nephew. (They are shot at by Thorn.)
Din gains five new uncles.
The batch proudly show pics and holos to their battalions. Din gains millions of new uncles.
Fox finally gets a full night's sleep.
#tcw#tcw fanfiction#commander fox#din djarin#coruscant guard#someone else should write that#tho tbh it's mostly written here just in rambling infodump form#btw this is half-inspired bc red is both baby din and fox's color#din is nonverbal for a little while because Trauma#and gets nicknamed 'Kit'#Fox refuses to be pleased about this#Fox is extremely smugly pleased about this

psycho bitch
3.2k / pairing: brat tamer!joel x f!reader
pt. 1 pt. 2
summary: When Joel ignoring you leads to an expensive shopping spree on his credit card, punishment follows in the form of spanking and a well-deserved pounding.Â
warnings/information: MA 18+ (minors DNI), no outbreak, brat tamer!Joel, swearing, dirty talk, pet names (kitten, etc.), degradation, name calling (be nice lol), praise kink, dom!joel, spanking, a little ass play, unprotected p in v, overstimulation, mean joel honestly lol
A/N: itâs official, Iâm naming this series psycho because Iâm pretty sure thatâs what Joel has readerâs name in his phone saved as. his lil psycho <3 we love psycho in this house (itâs you, youâre psycho).
âSay youâre sorry.â Joel sneered, voice low. You paused the motion of your hips and cocked your head in an attempt to look back at him. A dopey hm? left your lips. Mistake. The smack of his hands cracked against your ass, the stinging sensation warming your entire body as you gasped. âShit-- Joel!â You whimpered as you writhed under his body, but it was pointless, he had pinned you to the couch. âWhat the hell is wrong with you?!â âSay youâre sorry,â He repeated. âSay youâre sorry for rackinâ up my credit card.â
If there was one thing you loved doing above all else, it was irritating the shit out of Joel. Whatever he was to you, boyfriend, fuck toy, situationship⌠whatever role he played, he was more fun riled up.Â
Youâd rather have the most psychotic, deranged, raving mad sex with Joel than be stuck in missionary for the rest of your life.Â
You were at his place, lying in his bed waiting for him to come home from work. And youâd be waiting a while because according to your phone, it was barely noon. Bored, you tried calling him a few times, but he didnât care to answer.Â
To busy your mind, you started watching Clueless. What a horrible idea that was because now, you wished you had the funds to afford Cher Horowitzâs wardrobe. Hm.Â
Laid in the lingerie Joel left you in this morning, you rolled onto your tummy and started surfing the different stores you loved for inspiration. You wondered what would drive Joel up a wall. A mini skirt? Knee-high socks? An expensive gold waist chain? They all sounded good.Â
Add to cart. Add to cart. Add to cart.Â
Your heart clenched at the total.Â
âFuck.â You murmured, tossing your phone to the side in frustration. To live a life of wanting so much, but earning so little was not a life for you. Your lips twisted in thought.Â
Maybe Joel would buy the rest of your items if you threw in a new set of lingerie or two. As much as it was for you to wear, it was just as much for his enjoyment.Â
You sent him a screenshot of a nice bubble gum pink lace bustier and garter set. The embellishments were gold hearts, and the snaps onto the garters were gold clasps. It was absolutely to die for, despite it being a few hundred dollars.Â
cute, isnât it?Â
You sent it off to Joel and chewed on your fingernail for his response.
It made your eyes roll back into your head the way that he continued to ignore you. You decided to give him one last call, and if he didnât pick up, you were grabbing the emergency American Express on top of the refrigerator and using it for⌠said emergency.Â
If there was one lesson Joel needed to learn, it was that you were not someone to be ignored.Â
You spent the rest of the afternoon into the evening online shopping with the Amex, giggling in excitement at the newfound cash flow. Sure, he might not be happy at first, but surely Joel would love everything you bought. It was all for him, after all. Â
You had moved from his bed to the couch after eating a late lunch, laid on your tummy in just a t-shirt and thong, still scrolling through your phone. Â
Your jaw clicked when the front door was kicked open so fast that it made the floorboards shake. You were used to his theatrics by now, so you continued to lay unphased.Â
âThe HELL do you think youâre doinâ with that?â Joel snapped as he swiped the Amex card straight from between your fingers. You smirked as you stared down at your phone, mindlessly scrolling and ignoring him.Â
âDo you know how many DAMN notifications I got on my phone today? Do you know how many charges you made on the card?â He snapped, shucking off his work boots and jacket as his eyes burned into the back of your head.Â
You fluttered out a sigh, finally giving him a little attention and turning your head to him.Â
âYou donât like what I bought?âÂ
Joel was starstruck with anger, it grounded him into one standing spot in the living room with his muscular arms crossed in annoyance.Â
âYou crossed a line, you fuckinâ-- psycho bitch.â He spat his words, venom poison dripping from his pretty lips. âPaid over a thousand dollars today and for what? Lingerie?!â
You stifled a giggle and bit on your lower lip. âAnd a pink silk robe. Verrrry pretty.â
He scoffed. âVery fuckinâ expensive. Waste of time, waste of money, made me damn near keel over at work today seeinâ those bills rack up!â Joel said as his angry growls filled the room.Â
âSo you were on your phone today, just not talking to me, huh?â Your voice held annoyance, your face in a light pinched expression.Â
He ignored you, rolling your eyes as you returned to your phone.Â
âShould have said so before I bought everything... Tried calling you, texting you. Never answered me.â You could feel Joelâs obvious annoyance and anger without even looking.Â
âI was at work, donât have time to wait on you hand and foot.â
You lightly shrugged, back turned to him as you pouted. Still laying on your stomach, you lifted your calves and crossed your ankles, ass curving perfectly with your thong on display. You could feel him watching, staring, admiring.Â
âSounds like a you problem, Joel.âÂ
His scoff was indignant as he sauntered past the coffee table and moved closer to the couch. Joelâs fingertips lightly grazed up the back of your thigh, causing goosebumps in his wake.Â
âDoes it now?â His southern accent was slick with lust, you could feel his eyes staring at your ass. It was only confirmed when he took a big handful in his palm and squeezed.Â
âMhmmm.â You hummed, paying him no mind. âBought all of it for you, anyway. Know how much you like seeinâ me all prettied up.â Your words were sweet but dangerous, a Venus flytrap waiting to snap Joel up.Â
Joelâs jaw was tight with anger, and he was taking it out through the grip of his hand on your juicy flesh. Â
âFeel like no oneâs ever said no to you before I came along,â Joel muttered. You felt the couch shift, a soft gasp leaving you as he mounted the tops of your thighs with one of his knees smooshed between the cushions and the other on the edge, your body laid between.Â
Your lips parted at the feeling, his denim jeans grinding against the smoothness of your thighs. Your phone fell to the floor, and you paid no mind to it.Â
Joel was taking all of you in, massaging your gorgeous ass in his wide, warm palms.Â
You hummed at the feeling, your head dropping to lay on the arm of the couch.
His fingers lined your thong, and you purred in excitement.Â
He loved this pose. Heâd sit on your thighs and part his dick right between your ass cheeks, slip right in, and watch his cock disappear into your entrance, enveloped by your flesh. Sometimes his thumb would notch into your second hole, fill you up and drive you up a wall.Â
You supposed you were both good at driving each other mad, just in different forms. Â
You couldnât help but try and lift your hips up off the couch, leaning into his touch and lightly grinding up into his palms.Â
âSay youâre sorry.â Joel sneered, voice low.Â
You paused the motion of your hips and cocked your head in an attempt to look back at him.Â
A dopey hm? left your lips. Mistake.Â
The smack of his hands cracked against your ass, the stinging sensation warming your entire body as you gasped.Â
âShit-- Joel!â You whimpered as you writhed under his body, but it was pointless, he had pinned you to the couch. âWhat the hell is wrong with you?!â
âSay youâre sorry,â He repeated. âSay youâre sorry for rackinâ up my credit card.â His signature snarl was sending you into a fit. And now you were just being stubborn. You werenât sorry, he should be sorry!
âN-No.â A harsh slap hit your backside once more, and a broken crying whine left your throat, your eyes clenching closed.Â
This was the worst part about spanking; Joel was ruthless and unforgiving. But the hot sting was soon greeted by an aching pleasure between your thighs. You were going to give the couch a terrible wet puddle.Â
A shaky breath left your mouth as you braced for more, it was heaven to get this much attention from him.Â
The anxiety was lying in wait. You never knew when he was going to strike your red-soaked ass again, your breath hitched in your throat as you willed yourself to calm down in anticipation.Â
âA thousand. Fucking. Dollars. Just for you to be half naked like a little slut.âÂ
Joelâs words didnât hurt, they only implored you. He was so goddamn sexy when he talked like this. A soft moan left your lips, not being able to help it.Â
You were a wet sopping mess below him, weakly grinding your hips either down into the couch or up into his thighs. Anything to get some sort of friction. Fucking touch me already!
His greedy hands gripped and cupped your ass, pushing it up into your tailbone. He was so fucking possessive, the motion had you moaning.Â
âYeah... I know you fuckinâ like it when I manhandle you. Lucky I even touch you after the shit you pulled today.â He pulled your panties aside and spat down over your pulsing asshole, feeling it glide down to your pussy and between your thighs.
You gulped, and the sound bounced off the walls. âJoel baby, I-â A harsh slap rang so loud, it echoed off the windowpanes. You clenched the couch in your little fists and let out the shaky, whimpery breath you were holding in. His couch would surely have nail marks in them now.Â
He spanked you until you were apologetic and deduced to nothing. A writhing apology below him in the form of your cunt sopping wet and mascara tears of pain and pleasure on your cheeks.Â
âIâm sorry baby, Iâm so f-fuckinâ sorry daddy, please put your hands on me again-â
Smack.
âFuck! Fuck! Right there, yes Joel, holy sh-shit, can hit me harder baby, feels so good, so so go-â
Smack.
âFuck! Fuck Joel, owww, p-please baby, lemme make you feel good, take me in any hole you want, Iâm yours, Iâm yours!âÂ
You were a whimpering, moaning, mess of a woman under him. He had smacked your ass so hard that it was numb. You hoped his hand would be tattooed on you forever. And you knew that was his point, to imprint the outline of his massive hand on your ass, branding you, announcing to everyone through the way you were going to walk tomorrow that you got bent over and spanked so hard into submission.Â
More tears threatened to spill on your waterline, you kept trying to blink them away. You had a dummy fucked grin on your face, Joel could see it with the way your sweaty cheek laid against the couch arm. He raised his hand once more, but you couldnât take it again.Â
âIâm sorry! Iâm sorry! Iâm so fuckinâ sorry, please, please, please..â Your voice trailed off, and his hand lowered. Suddenly, his hands were on your ass again, but now he was massaging into you again, taking away the ache and sting. Somewhat.Â
You let out a groveling whimpery moan, jaw dropped as you watched his gorgeous face out of the corner of your eye. His cock was rock hard against your thigh. He had only gotten harder during the whole spanking session.Â
âKnow you wanna fuck me.â The notion slipped out of your mouth before you even had the chance to reclaim it. A cocky little smirk on your lips as you mustered up all the strength you had and ground your ass up into his hands.Â
You felt him peel your ass apart, watching the wet thong sopping with his spit and your arousal sink down to your pussy. He hummed in appreciation, slipping his thumb under the band and brushing against your tight hole.Â
âYou can keep one pair of lingerie..â Your eyes twinkled in lust, a smile perking up on your lips.Â
âOnly âcause Iâm âbout to rip these off you.âÂ
You gasped as your head whipped back to him, watching as he ripped the flimsy lace of your thong into nothingness. He made it look easy, effortless, his strength was nothing to contend. So fucking sexy.Â
You bit down on the plush pillow of your lower lip, holding back a grin as your small hands gripped the cushion of the couch. Fuck, he was so riled up tonight. Getting under his skin was always in your best interest. Â
Hot, shaky pants left your mouth as you watched him undo his belt buckle, the cool metal clasp falling onto your spanked, red ass with a hiss that had you seething through gritted teeth.Â
Joel pushed his jeans and black boxers down his thick thighs, his cock springing free.Â
The sight in your peripheral made you writhe your hips under his, but he was heavy weight over you, holding you down as you tried to shake your ass back into his tip.Â
This made him scoff out a degrading little puff through his nose, seeing you so desperate for him like this despite being freshly punished.Â
The adrenaline of it all heightened your senses, you could really smell him now.Â
You liked when Joel smelled like work. His lips and cock tasted musky, fresh and old sweat mixed with the heady smell of lingering cologne he applied in the morning. His odor tickled your nose, and you couldnât help but let your grin slip.Â
âSomethinâ funny, princess?â Joelâs tone was teasing, goading even. He was looking for a fight, a reason to ram you into a speechless existence. Maybe then youâd learn to shut up. But for nowâŚÂ
Your head twisted against the couch cushion, loose arousal moistening your thighs as you took a shy but brave look back to the man mounting you from behind.Â
âYouâll never fuck the attitude out of me.â
Your eyes held his in a seductive staring contest.Â
âIs that so?â His grated voice was teetering on no return. You could feel his heavy shaft sitting between your peeled-apart ass cheeks now, his tip lightly notching against your hole as you whimpered with need, an ache for him to fill.Â
Joel held himself at his base, loosely pumping his shaft and feeling it swell fat and heavy in his hand.Â
His tip was slowly enveloped by your thighs and ass, finding your cunt and slowly pushing in. Your eyes quickly rolled to the back of your head because to be filled up by Joel was an indescribable experience.Â
Joelâs head fell, partly in concentration but also in awe watching his dick slip between your folds.
It was messy at first, with broken moans and whimpers leaving you as his hips pushed forward. He parted your insides, trying to accommodate his size. Usually, he didnât give you this much time. Often you had pissed him off so much that he was bottoming out in one thrust and you were screeching his name in hot, happy pants.Â
This was slow, methodical, making you feel the weight of every damn dollar of his you spent today.Â
Finally, he plunged in fully to the hilt, bottoming out in one swift thrust that had you choking for air.Â
Joel slowly reeled his hips back out, seeing his length glisten in your pretty slick before he slowly joined your bodies together once more.Â
Your head was heavy and full, clouded and starry as he fulfilled a need you had been desperately aching for all damn day.Â
No amount of clothes could fulfill the hole you needed Joel to fill.Â
Joelâs balls were swollen and happy, you can tell by how they slapped against you while he picked up the pace of his thrusts. His hands are splayed around your ribcage, fucking you into the couch and making you feel as if you were sinking into the cushions.Â
Your moans were a broken record of his name, feeling your head rock as he started to really pound into you.Â
âJoel, Joel, Joel, J-Joh fuck!â You clenched your eyes closed, you could feel his one knee sinking deeper into the couch as he continued to rest on your upper thighs, his other foot coming down onto the floor beside the couch to keep his fill in you.Â
With the added traction, he felt like he was fucking you at a million miles an hour. The squeeze on your ribcage shuffled from your sides to your hips, feeling yourself get pounded and straightened out.Â
He was merciless when he was fucking you silent like this, making you listen to the echo of your disgusting moans, the only sounds Joel made being his horny growls and fuck-hungry grunts.Â
You were squeezing around him perfectly, the curve of your ass and the walls of your cunt milking his length.Â
His hips continued to clap your ass, feeling it bounce and reverberate against his abdomen as he started to hunch his body over you.Â
You gasped as you felt his palm flatten against your cheek, face smooshing into the cushion and distorting the sounds of your moans.Â
âOooh f- ooh, Jowl, Jowl!âÂ
His tip tickled your cervix, feeling his cock twitch inside of you. He was close. Your clit was throbbing, begging for release, he needed to keep hitting that spot in you.Â
âP-Please, wanna cuwm.â You whimpered, mouth still smooshed.Â
Your jaw dropped as he used the leverage from his extended arm holding your face down, fucking into you deep and leaving your ass clapping.Â
âRetuninâ all those damn clothes,â Joel grunted, leaving you whining against his palm.Â
âShut up, fuckinâ-- little psycho bitch.âÂ
Your cunt swelled at the compliment, a loud moan leaving you as his piping hot, white cum creamed your walls.Â
Please donât stop, help me finish, so close-
Your eyes widened as Joel moved his hand from the side of your cheek to your shoulder and hoisted you up, your back now flush against his sweaty chest as you both kneeled on the couch.Â
His softening length stayed nuzzled inside of you, feeling Joel reach around to circle your clit messily with his free hand as he was still reeling from his own orgasm.Â
You cried out and threw your head back on the top of his shoulder, face trying to curl into his neck as he overstimulated your senses.Â
Joelâs big firm hand holding you up by your shoulder moved to wrap around your throat, keeping you against him as your hands weakly gripped his wrist.Â
âGod- God!! Fuck! Joel!â You cried out his name while he squeezed at the sides of your windpipe, your walls clenching around his soft cock as you came desperately down his shaft. You saw stars as Joel restricted your airflow during your orgasm, a dopey grin on your face.Â
He threw you back down onto the couch, your body falling into the safety of the cushions. He pulled himself from your soaking cunt, snagging his boxers and pulling them up with ease along with his jeans. All while you were laid out on the couch, fucked dumb as you laid in a heap on the couch. Fuck, that was so good.Â
âJoel?â You whimpered, both of you still panting to catch your breaths.Â
âYeah, baby?â
âCan you think about letting me keep all the lingerie?â
You watched with a small smile as he rolled his eyes, trying to hide a grin.Â
âYou never learn, do you, psycho?âÂ
You shook your head slowly, pushing your hair away from your sweaty face.Â
âSometimes I need to be told twice.âÂ

Chapter Quote: âIâve always wanted a miniature version of myself.ââŻÂ
It was 9:37 AM on a Monday morning. I had just sat down in the conference room with some of our foundation's biggest donors to discuss plans for a non-profit community and resource center geared toward providing counseling and mental health treatment for low-income families. My hope was to secure additional funding for the project. I was admittedly nervous because these donations would be the deciding factor on if this pursuit was even possible at the present time. We had just made it past the pleasantries when Dieter stuck his head through the door. He looked around wild-eyed as he took in the room before finally focusing on my surprised face that was staring back at him. He cleared his throat, before pushing the door open further and stepping inside, âTalia, Iâm s-sorry to interrupt, but can I borrow you for a minute?ââŻÂ
I spoke through a tight smile, âDieter, Iâm a little busy right nowâŚââŻÂ
He was almost vibrating from anxiety as the look on his face shifted to something resemblingâŚpanic, âI know, Iâm really sorryâŚb-but we have a minor emergency that needs attentionâŚlike now.ââŻÂ
My brows furrowed as I took in his expression, âOkaaayâŚâ I replied with confusion etched on my face as I turned toward our guests, âPlease excuse us for a minute.â I gave them a nervous smile, moving to follow Dieter out into the hallway. As soon as the conference room door closed behind us, I puffed air out of my cheeks, then asked him what was going on. He rubbed both hands over his face before meeting my eyes.Â
âI donât even knowâŚwhere to startâŚwith this.â He let out a shaky breath before continuing.âŻÂ
âAmber, from CDSS (California Department of Social Services), just called. You know LucaâŚthat I mentor in the after-school program?âÂ
I nodded, completely unsure of where this was going.âŻÂ
âHis mom, she uhhhâŚâ His brows drew down together and his face tightened, like he was fighting back emotion, âHer neighbor found her early this morningâŚsheâsâŚgone. They need a temporary emergency foster for Luca.âÂ
I sucked in a stuttered breath. That certainly was not the news I was expecting. I shook my head in shock, âWhat does that mean? What are you saying?âÂ
Dieter rubbed at the back of his neck as he looked up at me through his lashes, âI know we never made a decision on potentially becoming foster parents, or even adoptingâŚâÂ
Realization crossed my face, Dieter wanted us to be the emergency foster, âDieterâŚthis is a big fucking dealâŚwhere are we gonna put a kid? We donât have any kidâŚstuff.âÂ
âI-I know it isâŚI mean, Iâm sure he has his own stuffâŚâÂ
My face softened, realizing now that he really wanted this, âDieter, this isn't a dog. Itâs a whole fucking humanâŚand not even a baby. Heâs gonna have feelings, emotions, andâŚtrauma. Thatâs a lot to take on.ââŻÂ
He sighed, âI-I knowâŚI donât think thereâs anyone more equipped to handle trauma than us thoughâŚand Iâm the only person he knows. If we donât take him, heâs gonna go to the foster facility or be placed with a random family. I canât let that happen...heâll be terrified.ââŻÂ
I fisted my fingers through the top of my hair as I stared at him. âItâs temporary?â I asked. Dieter nodded. âAre you gonna be able to handle that? Will you be able to handle giving him up?âÂ
He nodded again, âAs long as I go into it knowing thatâs the plan, then yesâŚI c-can handle it.ââŻÂ
I wasnât completely convinced with that answer. This was one of the reasons we hadnât gone forward with being foster parents. Dieter had been doing so well the last few years, but this was certainly something that could trigger a manic episode for him. He had a hard time with loss, but he did have an equally strong desire to help others in need.âŻâŻâŻÂ
âAnd what if they canât find another place for him to go? What if itâs not temporary?âÂ
He let out a controlled breath, âThen weâll cross that bridge when we get to it.ââŻÂ
I had to look away from him for a moment, my eyes roamed over the light gray colored walls of the hallway we stood in. Both of our emotions were running high, and I wasnât really sure how to handle this being dumped on us out of the blue, especially right now.âŻâŻÂ
I rubbed at the tension forming at the bridge of my nose, âWhen do they need to know something?âÂ
Dieter grimaced, âLike, now.âÂ
âFuck. Why did this have to happen nowâŚduring this meetingâŚâÂ
I reached to rub at my shoulder as my chest tightened, my heart now beating double time. I hadnât had a panic attack in a very long time, but I suddenly felt like I was about to. Dieter immediately noticed and grabbed my hand, cradling it between both of his large ones and brought it to his lips. I could already feel my heart rate slowing at his touch. After all this time, he was still my anchor.Â
âI mean, we donât even have time to discuss it? Think it through?â I asked.Â
He stared at me with his large brown eyes as he shook his head, âUnfortunately, no. They have to figure out what to do with him if we canât take him.ââŻÂ
I was reluctant as my mind raced through all the possible outcomes of this situation - trying to determine if this was something we could handle if it ended badly. We had been through so much already in our attempts to expand our family, I didnât know how much more we could take if things took an unexpected turn. Â
I had concerns about taking in a child that wasnât our own. It was the reason we had stalled on starting the adoption process. I was worried that I wouldnât be able to form any type of meaningful bond having not given birth to them myself and I was afraid of being a bad parent because of that. Dieter and I had discussed all of these things, and he knew why I was hesitant. Dr. Rosenberg, our psychiatrist, had assured me that all of these feelings were normal when considering adopting, so that had relieved some of my anxiety. However, I was now worried the same thing would happen if we became foster parents. The fear was amplified knowing that the situation was temporary, making it even harder on us emotionally. I knew I would inevitably put-up walls to protect myself.âŻÂ
I managed to push my feelings aside and to think of Dieter. I wanted to try for him because I knew that he had bonded with Luca since becoming part of his life. Dieter was right, Luca would be terrified being with strangers and I wasnât sure I could live with that either. Especially knowing that we could keep it from happening. I had only met Luca briefly, in passing, but I had heard everything about him from Dieter. He sounded like a sweet kid.âŻÂ
Thinking further, I realized this may only be for a few days. Surely Luca had other family that would be willing to take him in, right? We could handle a few days. However, if it stretched on beyond that, we might have a problem. Dieter interrupted my racing thoughts by placing his hands on my shoulders and dipping his head to meet my gaze, âTell me whatâs going on in that mind of yours.âÂ
I sighed, and peered up at him through my lashes, âYou know whatâs going on in my mindâŚweâve already talked about it allâŚandâŚI worry about you, obviously.ââŻÂ
He gave me a small smile, âBaby, I promise, Iâll be fine. I know I can do this.âÂ
My eyes roamed over his face as I read his expression, there was so much conviction behind his words this time that it erased any concerns I had for him. I nodded slowly, âOk, make the call.âÂ
His soulful eyes lit up with a wide smile that broke across his face, âReally? Youâre sure?ââŻÂ
I inhaled deeply and nodded, now in shock over what we had just agreed to do. Dieter pulled me in for a tight hug, mumbling into the top of my hair that this was a good thing. When I stepped away, I suddenly remembered that I had a room full of very important people waiting for me.âŻÂ
I huffed out a breath, âFuckâŚwhat about this meeting?ââŻÂ
Dieterâs eyes widened, âUmm, wellâŚI think they just needed to know if we could take him right away. Go finish the meeting and we can head over to get him after. How long do you think itâll be? Like an hour?âÂ
I nodded, âYeah, unless they laugh me out of there before that.ââŻÂ
His brow furrowed before he started rubbing the upper part of my arms, âHey, relax. Youâve got this. I can come in and charm them if you need me to?â He gave me his goofy lop-sided grin.âŻÂ
I snorted out a laugh. He always knew the right thing to say to lift my mood.âŻÂ
âHopefully, that wonât be necessary, but Iâll keep that in mind if I need reinforcements.ââŻÂ
Dieter chuckled, leaning down to give me a quick kiss before I turned to go back into the conference room. Everyone immediately snapped to attention as I walked in, a few inquiring if everything was ok. The only response I could muster was, âI hope so,â followed by a nervous laugh.Â
It wasnât my best presentation. I was distracted by all the thoughts swirling in my head, which was making it hard for me to focus. I managed to make it through everything though. Everyone seemed excited about the project and pledged more funding than we were asking for, which was a huge relief. At least that was one less thing I could stop worrying about. After everyone said their goodbyes, they all filed out the door to walk toward the lobby. I followed behind them, until I reached Dieterâs office door to find him looking down at his phone as he paced around the room.âŻÂ
Once Dieter realized I was standing in the doorway, his head snapped up. He looked at me with wide eyes, âWell?âÂ
I smiled, âWeâre good. More than good actually.âÂ
He hissed out a low âYeeesssâ as he punched the air with a fisted hand. He moved toward me, grabbing my wrist to pull me towards him for a hug, âI told you it would go ok.ââŻÂ
When he pulled away, we looked at each other nervously, knowing what our next task was.Â
âWhatâs the plan?â I asked.âŻÂ
Dieter gave me a tight smile, âWell, we go down to the CDSS offices and pick him up. Amber said he has some clothes with him and not much else. I guess weâll have some paperwork to fill out when we get there too.ââŻâŻÂ
I let out a slow breath, âI still canât believe weâre doing thisâŚâÂ
He gave me a serious look, âThis is a good thing and youâre gonna be great. Stop getting in your head about it. Heâs gonna love you. I mean, he likes me for fuckâs sake. Youâll be fine.ââŻÂ
I snorted, shaking my head at him as I walked next door to my office to grab my things. We left without telling anyone what was going on. It was too much to explain right now. We were silent as Dieter drove to our destination. He held my hand tightly the whole way, knowing that my mind was racing, my thoughts making me more anxious as we got closer.âŻÂ
At some point in our journey to expand our family, Dieter had become the source of strength in our relationship, and I had become the one who struggled emotionally. I think a lot of it had to do with the hormone injections I had been taking but knowing that didnât make it any easier. After a year of no success, I couldnât do it anymore. The disappointment that came with each negative pregnancy test had become overwhelming and was slowly breaking me down. It had really left a scar on my heart.Â
Dieter remained positive throughout the entire ordeal and took such good care of me. He was truly supportive, constantly checking in with me and making me talk through my emotions. We knew this was a possibility before choosing this path and worked to prepare ourselves for it, but that didnât make it any less disappointing when things didnât go how we had hoped. The residuals from that experience still hung over us when it came to the topic of expanding our family. I had a nagging fear that things were never going to go our way and I was having a hard time overcoming it. Even now, my brain was making a list of every possible negative outcome and how that could affect us individually and as a couple.⯠Deep down I knew that wasnât the way to go into this, but I couldnât help it.âŻÂ
Before I knew it, we were pulling into the CDSS parking lot. I was in a daze as I exited the vehicle, quickly moving to Dieterâs side and lacing our fingers back together. When we entered the building, Dieter asked for Amber, then we were led to the room where she was sitting with Luca. She saw us approaching through the glass windows and came out into the hallway to meet us.âŻÂ
She gave us a sad smile as she greeted us. Dieter wasted no time getting to business. âHowâs he doing?â he asked.âŻÂ
Amber sighed, âItâs hard to tell. Iâm not sure if he fully understands whatâs going on. Heâs sad, but calm. He perked up some when I told him you were coming to pick him up. He had been asking for Dieter since he got here. Thatâs why I thought to call you guys first.ââŻÂ
Dieter turned to look at the small boy who had a vacant look in his eyes and a frown on his lips. âCan I go to him?ââŻhe asked.Â
Dieterâs gaze shifted to Amber, his eyes now pleading. She nodded, stepping aside so he could enter the room. Dieter inhaled deeply, squeezing my hand a little tighter before releasing it. I watched as he approached, kneeling down to Lucaâs level as he talked to him in hushed tones. I could see Lucaâs bottom lip trembling and his dark eyes rounding before he leaned in and buried his face into Dieterâs shoulder. Dieter rubbed at the back of the boyâs shaggy dark brown locks, hugging him tightly. I couldnât see Dieterâs face, but I could tell by the tense set of his shoulders that he was fighting back his own emotions.âŻÂ
Seeing Luca now took me back to the family photos littered throughout our home in Sonoma. He reminded me so much of a younger version of Dieter that it was almost scary. It also tugged at my heartstrings in a way that I didnât expect. They had more in common than just looks, both having lost their mothers at a very young age. I didnât know the details yet, but I assumed Luca experienced it in a traumatic way based on Dieterâs reaction. Seeing Dieter with the boy and how they interacted also had me feeling some kind of way. It was clear Luca trusted him and felt comfortable in his presence. It was enough to stifle the negative thoughts that had plagued my mind during the drive over.âŻÂ
âDid Dieter tell you what happened?â Amber asked.âŻÂ
I shook my head, still watching through the glass as I answered, âNo, we didnât get into the details. I was doing good just to wrap my head around this even happening.ââŻÂ
She nodded, âI can understand that. I know it came out of nowhere.â She sighed before continuing, âThe neighbor found her this morning. Itâs looking like an intentional overdose. She had been like that for a couple daysâŚat least. She did it with Luca there.âÂ
My head turned, shocked eyes finally meeting Amberâs. âHe was with her like that for days?âÂ
She nodded, âAs far as we know. He wonât really talk to us, so itâs a lot of speculation at this point.ââŻÂ
I felt sick. It was worse than I thought. I couldnât imagine what the kid was feeling, and I didnât even know where to start in dealing with it, but Dieter did. He had been in a similar situation once. I felt a streak of panic go through me, worried that this would bring up emotions for Dieter that he might have a hard time with. I had to remind myself that he had successfully processed through that trauma and would hopefully be able to use it in a positive way now.âŻÂ
Amber continued, âBased on the environment, I would say it wasnât a good situation for the kid. The place was a mess, there was no food in the house, and he didnât have a lot of belongings. Itâs sad all around.âÂ
I had to find something to focus on before I got emotional, âHe didnât have a lot of belongings? What does he have?âÂ
Amber shrugged, âNot a whole lot. Some ill-fitting clothes, thatâs about it. Oh, and a stuffed raccoon. He said âMr. Dieterâ got it for him at the zoo and wanted to bring itâŚbut nothing else.ââŻÂ
My eyes began to sting. Something about that bit of information nearly knocked me over the edge. I sucked in a sharp breath, needing to change the subject. âDo you know of any family yet?â I asked.Â
She shook her head, âNo, nothing yet. It doesnât look like she kept in touch with anyone, so itâs gonna take some work to figure it out. Weâll look into the dadâs side as well, obviouslyâŚit doesnât look like she was in touch with any of them either.âŻÂ
I felt my stomach flutter at the idea that there appeared to be no one to take him. Was that some spark of hope? I didnât want to get ahead of myself, but I did have a small urge to give this kid a better life.âŻÂ
Amber drew me from my thoughts, âSo, weâre gonna have you guys take him on as a non-relative extended family foster. You have an established relationship with him that can be proven, and itâs documented, so I donât think it will be an issue. I can prove itâs the best plan of action for him currently while we go through our processes.âŻÂ
I nodded, agreeing that it seemed like the way to go. She left me to go gather the paperwork for us to fill out. I turned back to the window, now watching Dieter and Luca talking quietly to each other. Luca was hugging his stuffed raccoon as Dieter brushed the boy's wavy hair out of his dark eyes. Luca had a small smile on his face from whatever Dieter had said to him. The moment seemed so private. I almost felt like I was intruding.âŻÂ
After a few minutes, Dieterâs head turned, his eyes searching for me. When our gazes met, he motioned for me to join them. I was hesitant, not wanting to spoil their moment. I was also unsure of how to act toward this kid. I didnât know him like Dieter did, and honestly, I felt like an outsider in this situation. I needed to suck it up, there was no avoiding it.âŻÂ
I took a calming breath before entering the room, moving to sit next to Dieter. Dieter put his arm around my waist, pulling me into his side, âLuca, do you remember meeting Talia? Sheâs my wifeâŚthe one that keeps me in line.ââŻÂ
Luca let out a quiet laugh, smiling at me as he nodded. âI remember,â he finally said.âŻâŻÂ
Dieter glanced over at me, âLuca and I were just talking about getting some lunch.âÂ
A sad smile formed on my lips, there was no telling when the last time was that this kid had a decent meal. âYeah, we can do that. Luca, is there anywhere you like to eat? We can go wherever you want.âÂ
Luca shrugged, âIâm not really sure.âÂ
It hit me then, this kid probably hadnât eaten out a lot. I felt like an idiot for asking.âŻÂ
It was Dieter who spoke next, âHow about McDonalds? You liked it that one time we went, right?âÂ
The boy's chocolate eyes lit up, much like Dieterâs often did when he was excited about something. Luca nodded enthusiastically at the suggestion.âŻÂ
Amber entered the room with a file full of paperwork. I got to work on it while Dieter kept Luca distracted. There was so much information to fill out and releases to sign for background checks and home visits. It was a little overwhelming. Dieter could sense how I was feeling and made the effort to help calm me. As soon as I felt his hand resting on the small of my back, moving in small circles, I was able to relax and focus. He always knew what I needed and when.âŻÂ
We were at CDSS for at least two hours, if not longer. I felt absolutely exhausted by the time we left, and Iâm pretty sure Dieter and Luca were too. I was on information overload and starting to stress about everything that needed to be done. I was already making a mental list about things Luca would need for school and everyday use. I had never shopped for a boy his age, so it was putting me in a bit of a tizzy.âŻÂ
As soon as we were in the car, Dieter reached for my hand, âBaby, relax. Everything on that running list in your head doesnât have to be done todayâŚand I can help you with some of it you know.ââŻÂ
My lips tugged upward. He knew me too well. âI knowâŚbut you know I canât help myself.ââŻÂ
As Dieter drove toward the fast food restaurant, I noticed his eyes flicking to the rear view mirror every so often, I assumed to keep an eye on Luca. I too turned to glance back at the boy a few times. Every time I did so, he was staring out the window with his chin propped on his hand. He didnât look particularly distressed or upset. I wasnât sure if he had fully grasped what was happening yet. He seemed way too at ease, or maybe that was just because he was with Dieter?âŻâŻâŻÂ
Once we got into the drive-thru line, Dieter turned to ask Luca what he wanted. He shrugged as his eyebrows rose and disappeared behind his shaggy hair.âŻÂ
Dieter glanced at me with an arched eyebrow and pursed lips. My brows furrowed. I could already tell this was going to take some adjustments.âŻÂ
âChicken nuggets or a burger?â Dieter finally asked.âŻÂ
âNuggets.â Luca replied.âŻÂ
âChocolate or Vanilla shake?â Dieter followed up.âŻÂ
âWhatâs better?â Luca asked.âŻÂ
âChocolateâŚDuh.â Dieter replied.Â
Luca giggled, âChocolate then.ââŻÂ
I felt like they had had many conversations like this. I loved that Dieter knew how to communicate with Luca in a way that got answers and didnât cause frustration. I had a feeling a lot of adults probably couldnât handle that. Here I was taking mental notes for future reference.âŻÂ
When we got to the drive-thru window, the worker immediately recognized Dieter. It caused a bit of a ruckus as several other workers came over and asked to take a selfie with him. Luca seemed completely unfazed by it. I wondered if this had happened often while he was out doing things with Dieter.âŻÂ
Once we finally got our food and were on our way home, I looked over at Dieter, âI assume you havenât told Elaine or Will yet?âÂ
He sucked air through his teeth, âNope.ââŻÂ
âDo you think paparazzi will be an issue?âÂ
Dieter shrugged, âI dunno. I think when kids are around, they tend to back off some. I hope anyway...ââŻÂ
I took a deep breath and dropped my head backward onto the seat. I had a feeling this was going to be more complicated in ways that we couldnât even fathom yet.âŻÂ
After we got home, we all sat down at the dining room table and ate our incredibly unhealthy meal. Luca seemed in good spirits, but he mostly sat in silence as he took in his surroundings and devoured his food. He would still smile when Dieter said something funny to him and responded to questions, but that was about it. Afterward, Dieter got Lucaâs two small bags out of the car, then we showed him to his room and adjoining bathroom. He seemed in awe over the fact that he would have his own bathroom and a TV in the bedroom. It made me sad that something so common and seemingly not that big of a deal to us, was for him.âŻÂ
While Dieter worked to get Luca settled in, I raided our toiletry stash to get everything he might need for the time being. I felt so unprepared for this situation, and I hated that feeling. I needed to get everything sorted out as soon as possible or I wasnât going to be able to relax over it.âŻÂ
When I returned to Lucaâs room, Dieter was getting him tucked into bed because he said he was sleepy and wanted to take a nap. I watched as Dieter showed him how to work the TV and asked what kind of shows he liked to watch. Luca shrugged, commenting that he didnât have many channels, so he didnât watch much TV. It was just another reminder of the less than ideal situation he had been in.âŻÂ
I left them alone after that, allowing Luca time to decompress and fall asleep. To help settle my mind, I took a seat on a stool at the kitchen island and started making lists. Lists of things we needed to do, essentials that Luca would need, school supplies, it almost seemed never ending. In the middle of all that I was googling things because I didnât know anything about what a boy his age would like. I was also creating carts and adding items for delivery. It was overwhelming to see it all in writing, but it did make me feel better.âŻÂ
About a half hour later, I could hear Dieter on a call in the living room. It sounded like he was talking to Elaine, his publicist, and Will, his manager - filling them in on the events of the day. After he ended the call, he appeared behind me in the kitchen, wrapping his arms around my waist and resting his chin on my shoulder.âŻÂ
âWill is gonna clear my schedule for the next couple of weeks so I can be around for Luca.â he said into the side of my neck.âŻÂ
âHe may not be here that long,â I reminded him.âŻÂ
He shrugged, âThen youâll just have to put up with me being around.âÂ
I chuckled, âYes, because thatâs just so terrible.â I said sarcastically.âŻÂ
Dieter reached to grab the notepad sitting on the counter in front of me, looking it over before dropping it back in its place.âŻÂ
âYou donât have to do all of this today, ya know. Let me help you.ââŻÂ
I sighed, âOh, donât worry. You will be. Heâs probably gonna need some more clothesâŚthat might have to be your area. Iâve already got some carts going online for the rest of it.âÂ
Dieter moved to my side so he could look at me directly, one arm still around my back, âHey, youâre doing great. The kid likes you, so you can relax.âÂ
I gave him a weak smile, âHow do you know?âÂ
Dieter smirked, âHe said youâre niceâŚand have pretty hair.ââŻÂ
I snorted, âHe didnât say that.ââŻÂ
Dieter nodded, âI swear he didâŚâ He was quiet for a beat, his eyes roaming my face. âHow are you feeling about things?âÂ
I inhaled deeply and held it for a moment, âI donât knowâŚdefinitely overwhelmed with everything that needs to be done.âÂ
His eyes narrowed, âYou know thatâs not what Iâm asking.âÂ
Heâs too damn intuitive, I was totally avoiding the real conversation. âIâm not sure, honestly.âÂ
âBaby, you need to be open with me. I know what youâre doingâŚdonât shut yourself off.âÂ
I puffed air out of my cheeks, âOk, fine⌠I feel a little disconnected from itâŚlike an outsider. Itâs awkward because you already have a bond with him and Iâm not really sure how to be part of that. I know he isnât as comfortable around me either. I can sense it.âÂ
Dieter pulled me into a hug, âHeâs a shy kid on the best day. After you spend a little time with him, heâll open up. Youâve gotta open up some too though.âÂ
I nodded. I knew it was true, but also knowing that this was meant to be temporary was making it hard for me to do that. After seeing Luca and what his life must have been like made me realize I could actually get attached to this kid. Even though I had been worried about being able to bond with a child that wasnât my own, I could feel my maternal instincts kicking in.âŻÂ
Luca slept most of the day, which left us wondering what exactly he had been through that left him so tired. Dieter and I were in the midst of cooking dinner, trying to decide if we should wake him when he came shuffling down the hallway.âŻÂ
âHey hombrecito (little man), you ready to eat some dinner?â Dieter asked.Â
Luca nodded as he rubbed at his eyes.âŻÂ
âLetâs go wash up while Talia gets everything ready, ok?âÂ
Dieter put his hand on Lucaâs shoulder and led him toward the bathroom to wash his hands. By the time they got back dinner was ready. Dieter helped Luca make a small plate while he made his own. Then we all sat down to eat. I noticed Luca didnât get much food and finished eating quickly.âŻÂ
âLuca, do you want any more? You didnât eat much,â I said.âŻÂ
He looked at me with wide eyes, âIs that allowed?ââŻÂ
I could feel my heart shattering in my chest as Dieter and I shared a knowing look. It took everything in me to keep the tears at bay as I turned my attention back to the boy.âŻÂ
âItâs absolutely allowed. You can have as much as you want.ââŻÂ
His chocolate eyes lit up before murmuring out a quiet âthank youâ as he stood from his seat to go refill his plate. Dieter reached over and gave my hand a squeeze before turning his attention to Luca, realizing the boy was too short to reach everything. He moved to help him. I took a moment to take a few deep breaths to calm myself. I could already tell this whole experience was going to have a huge impact on me, emotionally.âŻâŻâŻâŻÂ
After dinner, we took the time to show Luca around the rest of the house and officially introduce him to Moony, our kangaroo eared dog, and our four foster pups. Dieter had recently converted one of the spare rooms downstairs into a âdog roomâ for the pups to hang out in while we were out of the house. It was the most ostentatious dog space I had ever seen. He had gone so far as to install a TV (on their level) and get a Dog TV subscription for them. They each had their own little dog houses and beds. He had even found a place to buy dog furniture. He finished it all off with wireless cameras that allowed him to talk to the dogs when he wasnât in the room. It was beyond extra, but typical Dieter.âŻÂ
Luca was in awe of the space and thought the mini dog couches were the funniest thing. He and Dieter went to sit on the floor in the middle of the room to get acquainted with everyone. The foster dogs were just happy to see people. Moony held back, slinking around the room sniffing in Lucaâs direction. He was more cautious of the new person in his house, but he eventually approached the boy for pets. Within minutes, he was in Lucaâs lap being cuddled, both of them smiling as they nuzzled against each other. I could already tell they were going to be fast friends.âŻÂ
In the days that followed, Luca continued to remain quiet and reserved. However, I could tell he was beginning to relax as he got used to his surroundings and new routine. He was at his happiest when spending time with Dieter. Dieter had been spending all of his free time with the boy - painting, playing video games, playing with Moony. Anything he could think of doing that might distract Luca from the reality of his situation. I could often hear them laughing amongst themselves. It warmed my heart to see Dieter take on this new role and how he thrived in it.âŻÂ
Dieter was so good with Luca, and I knew a lot of it had to do with their commonalities. Dieter had lost his mother under equally devastating circumstances, which helped him relate to Luca in a way that I would never be able to. It further solidified the bond they had already built before this life changing incident happened to Luca. It did make me worry about how things would go if Luca was unable to stay with us. I worried if Dieter could handle it.âŻÂ
The conditions left me torn in how I wanted to handle things as well. I was still feeling like an outsider in this situation and unsure of how to navigate the changing dynamics in our household. I wanted to engage and be part of the bond they were building, but I also didnât want to get too close in the event the situation was indeed temporary, as we were told it would be. I knew I would need to be strong for Dieter if Luca wasnât able to stay with us. He said he could handle it but seeing them together didnât give me a lot of confidence in his belief.âŻÂ
As we got into the second week of having Luca with us, I noticed he seemed to be getting more curious about me. During the first instance, we were all sitting around the living room watching TV as I folded laundry. Luca was on the floor, playing with Moony. Once Moony ran out of energy and laid down for a nap, I realized Luca was watching me fold. After several minutes, he came closer, sitting in front of me.âŻÂ
âCan I help?â he asked timidly.âŻÂ
I couldnât help the smile that spread across my face. He was too adorable. I glanced toward Dieter, who was watching us with a smirk on his face.âŻÂ
âBetter watch it hombrecito (little man), sheâs super picky about the folding.ââŻÂ
Lucaâs eyes widened, like he couldnât believe Dieter said such a thing.âŻÂ
I snorted, âJust because I donât wad them up and stuff them in a random drawer doesnât mean Iâm picky.â I gave Luca a conspiratorial look, âHeâs just messy. Donât listen to him.ââŻÂ
Luca laughed, âYeah, he kinda is.ââŻÂ
Dieter scoffed dramatically and I cackled. Lucaâs comment had taken me off guard.âŻÂ
âI see how it is, you two are ganging up on me now. I donât like this,â Dieter said.Â
Luca and I laughed, eventually settling down as I continued folding. Luca watched me fold a couple more items, then reached into the basket to grab a piece of clothing and got to work. He held it up to ask me if it was correct. He had folded it perfectly on the first try. Dieter and I both praised him, noting that he already folds better than Dieter, which led to more giggles from the boy as he worked on the next item. We worked in silence after that, listening to whatever TV show Dieter was watching. I noticed Dieter wasnât paying much attention to the show though. Instead, he was watching Luca and I with a small smile on his lips. Once all of the laundry was folded, Luca offered to put his own clothes away himself. When he returned, he looked smug, seemingly proud of himself as he sat down next to Dieter on the couch. Dieter pulled the boy into his side and mussed his hair, thanking him for helping me.âŻÂ
In the days that followed, Luca began checking in with me to see if he could help with anything. I started giving him small tasks like sweeping, vacuuming, helping carry the dishes to the kitchen, or pulling ingredients for meals. It was his way of trying to connect with me, and I accepted it.Â
Toward the end of the second week, Dieter and I were lying in bed, barely awake after having spent the day clothes shopping with Luca. We were both absolutely spent from trying to get things sorted for Luca and caring for him throughout the week on top of dealing with home checks, interviews with CDSS, and getting our background checks completed. We had been so engrossed with taking care of the boy that we really hadnât made any time for each other. Our only time together was at night, but we had been so tired since Luca came into our care that we hadnât even taken advantage of it. On this night, we managed to get in some cuddle time before either of us fell asleep. After crawling into bed behind me and pulling me flush against his body, Dieter took the opportunity to check in with me to see how I was feeling about things.âŻÂ
âIt seems like Luca is warming up to you a bitâŚâÂ
I smiled, âYeah, I think so too. His personality is starting to shine through a little more. I can tell heâs been spending too much time with you.ââŻÂ
Dieter chuckled, âIâve always wanted a miniature version of myself.ââŻÂ
I snorted and nudged my shoulder backward against his, âYouâre so ridiculous.ââŻâŻÂ
He laughed, but then it trailed off into a moment of silence before he spoke again.Â
âSerious questionâŚhow are you feeling about things now? Better I hope?ââŻÂ
I sighed. I was still holding back some, and I knew it. âIâm still a little apprehensive about things. Iâm trying not to get attached to this kid. This was never meant to be permanent, remember?ââŻÂ
Dieter went quiet for a beat, âThat may be true, but that doesnât mean we canât care for him like heâs oursâŚshow him what a healthy family dynamic is like. Heâs never had that, and I know thereâs a possibility that he may never get it again if he leaves us. I want him to have at least one positive experience to look back on, even if it does turn out to be a short one.âÂ
Dieter always had an interesting take on things like this. I knew it was rooted in his childhood experiences and everything he had gone through. I hadnât thought about it like that and couldnât disagree, âI hadnât considered that view on things.â I finally admitted to him.âŻÂ
I turned to face him, âYou have such a good heart. I canât disagree with that assessment andâŚIâll try to do better by him.ââŻÂ
Dieter leaned down and gently kissed me on the lips, before pulling back. âYou have a good heart too, you just have to learn to open it up a little more.âÂ
I chuckled, âYeah, I guess so.ââŻÂ
His hand gently brushed my hair back, âMaybe you two should go do something fun on your own. I know heâs been wanting to go to the Aquarium.âÂ
My eyes widened, âDieter, I dunno about that. It helps to have you as a buffer.ââŻÂ
He snickered, âYouâll be fine. The kid likes you and Iâm certain you wonât be able to get him to shut up if heâs looking at animals. He gets so excited; he canât help but to ask a million questions. You should take him on Saturday. Iâve got some work stuff I need to take care of.âÂ
My brows furrowed, âWork stuff? What work stuff?ââŻÂ
He was fighting a smile now, âI have some scripts I need to look over.âÂ
I pursed my lips, âFor some reason, I donât believe you.ââŻÂ
He smiled against my lips, kissing me between words, âItâs late. Time for bed bella durmiente (sleeping beauty).ââŻÂ
I scoffed as he snuggled in next to me, âYeah, yeah, yeah. Change the subject. Iâm on to you.ââŻÂ
He laughed against my shoulder, âIâd like you to be, but Iâm too fucking tired to be able to do anything about it.ââŻÂ
I snorted, âAgain, youâre ridiculous. Good night.ââŻÂ
After giving him a quick kiss on the forehead, we wrapped up in each other and fell asleep quickly.Â
That Saturday, I took Luca to the Aquarium as Dieter suggested. There was a comfortable silence between us during the ride there, however his bright-eyed look told me he was excited. It didnât take long once we were inside for him to start peppering me with questions as Dieter said he would. He was an inquisitive little thing that had a serious thirst for knowledge. He was enthusiastic but also very well behaved. He seemed mature for his age when compared to the other kids running amok around the facility. Realizing that made me appreciate him a little more.âŻÂ
Luca took the time to sit and observe the animals, studying each of them carefully. Whereas, most of the other kids gave them a quick glance, then were ready to move on to the next thing. Something about his curiosity made my heart flutter. Was it pride? I realized it was something that he and I had in common. I made a mental note of that for future reference.âŻÂ
It seemed like hardly any time had passed as we slowly moved between exhibits, chatting about the animals. As the morning went on, I could tell he was getting more comfortable with me. He had started to gently tug on my hand to get my attention or loop his arm around mine and lean into my side as he pointed things out.âŻÂ
By the time we reached the halfway point where the little cafe was, it was well past lunch time. Luca reluctantly agreed to take a break so we could grab a bite to eat. As we waited in line, I asked him what he wanted. He gave me that same wide-eyed stare he gave Dieter at McDonalds the first day. I gave him a few options off the menu as I had watched Dieter do. We finally narrowed it down to loaded nachos and a chocolate chip cookie.âŻÂ
Luca got quiet after we were seated to eat. He didnât seem to have a problem with companionable silence. He was a lot like Dieter and me in that way. It never failed to astonish me how well this kid fit into our lives. It was like the âpowers that beâ had taken a piece from each of us to make him and put him in our path. Luca drew me out of my thoughts with a question that stunned me.âŻÂ
âAre you and Mr. Dieter gonna be my new parents?â he asked with a hopeful look in his eyes.Â
I nearly choked on the chip I had just stuck in my mouth. I wasnât expecting this type of conversation today. I took a quick drink of my soda, âDid Dieter tell you that?âÂ
He shook his head, âNo. I didnât ask him because Mr. Dieter says youâre the boss.âÂ
I chuckled, âWell, at least he knows his place.â I took a deep breath, my brows furrowing as I thought through a response.âŻÂ
âIs that something you would want to happen? For us to be your parents.ââŻÂ
He nodded enthusiastically as he chomped down on a nacho.âŻÂ
I gave him a sad smile, âYou understand what that would mean right? That you would stay with us, forever.âÂ
He nodded again, âI like staying with you. Youâre nice to me.ââŻÂ
Of all the reasons he could have given, it was because weâre nice to him. My heart was breaking as I considered what those words meant. Was his mother not nice to him? I knew they were low income and struggled with basic needs, but this added a whole other layer to things.âŻÂ
I could feel the tears beginning to pool in my eyes and I had to work to fight them back.âŻÂ
I gave him another sad smile, âThe decision isnât up to us, budâŚbut I promise youâŚif itâs an option, weâll do everything in our power to make it happen. If thatâs what you truly want.ââŻÂ
He was smiling now, âIt is. I would like that.âÂ
My heart was about to beat out of my chest. I couldn't believe he had just asked me that. He obviously felt comfortable enough around me now to bring it up, which made me feel a whole other set of emotions. I was drawn from my thoughts by my buzzing phone in my pocket. It was from Dieter.Â
Dieter: Hey! Howâs it going?Â
I smiled to myself. It was sweet that he was checking in. I glanced up at Luca who was leaning back in his seat, with his hand on his belly like he had eaten too much.âŻÂ
âDieterâs asking how itâs going. You wanna send him a picture?âÂ
Luca smiled and nodded before standing to walk over next to my seat. He leaned in against me and gave a toothy smile while I snapped a selfie of us. I showed him the picture and he gave a nod of approval as he moved back to his seat. With a smile, I sent it to Dieter. He started typing a response immediately.Â
Dieter: Wow. Looks like some progress. You guys having fun?âŻÂ
Me: Yeah, we are. Just finishing up with a late lunch. You were right, he has a lot of questions.Â
Dieter: LOL! Iâll see you guys in a few hours then. I expect you still have a while. Let me know when you're heading this way and Iâll get dinner started. - te amo (love you)Â
Me: Sounds like a plan. - te amoÂ
Luca and I went back to viewing the exhibits after that. He seemed to have a little more pep in his step during the second half of the day and he was still just as inquisitive about everything. After another hour and a half, we finally made it to the gift shop.âŻÂ
âGo find yourself something to take home,â I said to him. His eyes widened at my words. He seemed very unsure of himself.âŻÂ
âLike what?â he finally asked.âŻÂ
âWhatever you wanna get.â He pursed his lips, still seeming unsure. âA toy maybe? Iâm not sure what you like. Youâre allowed to wander around and look if you want.ââŻâŻÂ
He shuffled down the nearest aisle, slowly scanning the shelves. He eventually ended up standing in front of a wall of books and began thumbing through them. He finally settled on an age-appropriate book on prehistoric fish. I probably shouldnât have been surprised that he chose a book, but I was. He walked over and shyly handed it to me.âŻÂ
âIs this one, ok?â he asked quietly.Â
I gave him a bright smile and nodded, âOf course! Do you like to read?ââŻÂ
He shrugged, âIâm not that good yet, but I like books.âÂ
I ruffled his hair, âDonât worry, weâll have you reading everything in no time. Dieter and I love to read too.âÂ
He gave me a toothy grin as I leaned down to whisper to him conspiratorially, âYa know, I donât count books as a strike against your purchase limit. Go grab you something else.âÂ
His eyes widened, like he couldnât believe what he was hearing before he scurried off to find another item. I followed behind him, watching as he continued to take everything in and narrow down his choice. He finally settled on a stuffed otter. We had spent a lot of time watching them in their enclosure, so I wasnât shocked. They seemed to be one of his favorites. We checked out after that, then made our way to the car.âŻÂ
As I was sitting in traffic, I could see Luca in my rear view mirror, completely engrossed in his book with his otter hugged under one arm. His chubby little fingers were rubbing at its soft fuzzy fabric in between turning pages. Something about it was absolutely tugging at my heart. I wondered if he even had any books of his own before, or if perhaps he just borrowed them from school.âŻÂ
âLuca, have you ever been to a bookstore?â I asked suddenly.âŻÂ
His rounded chocolate eyes met mine in the mirror. His brows furrowed slightly, seeming confused by my question for a moment before answering, âNo maâam. I haven't.ââŻÂ
A smile tugged at my lips, âWould you like to?ââŻÂ
He nodded, fighting a smile, âThat would be fun.ââŻÂ
Minutes later, I turned into the local Barnes and Noble parking lot. I was suddenly feeling giddy to share this experience with him because I knew this would be a hobby we could bond over.âŻÂ
When we entered the store, I grabbed a handheld basket. He gave me a questioning look, âLetâs fill this basket up, kid.ââŻÂ
He snorted, following closely behind me until I found the correct aisle for him to browse. He seemed to have a thing about dinosaurs, gravitating toward those books first. After flipping through a couple, he eyed me cautiously as he slid one into the basket I was holding. I quirked an eyebrow at the one still in his hand, âYou want that one too?ââŻÂ
He chewed on his lip for a moment before slowly sliding that one into the basket. He looked like he was waiting for me to change my mind. Instead, I gave him a warm smile and encouraged him to keep looking. As we moved down the aisle, I pointed out some of my favorites like Narnia, Goosebumps, and Percy Jackson. He seemed a little intimidated by the chapter books at first, but after I promised that Dieter and I would read those with him it seemed to change his view on it a little and he happily added those to the basket as well. Luca and I got lost in the books together. Not realizing how much time had passed until I got another text from Dieter.Â
Dieter: You two doing ok? Figured youâd be on your way back by now.âŻÂ
Me: Yes! Sorry. We stopped off at the bookstore. About to check out.âŻÂ
Dieter: K. Iâll get dinner started. See you soon. đ (kiss emoji)âŻÂ
I sighed, âLooks like weâre being summoned for dinner. I think this is probably a good start. You ready to head home?ââŻÂ
Luca gave me a wide smile and nodded. We made our way to the checkout counter, where I pointed out the bookmarks and told him to grab a couple for his chapter books. He quickly settled on two 3D hologram bookmarks, one with raccoons and the other with a shark. He slid them onto the counter as the cashier began to ring up our purchases. He stood beside me quietly, looking at all the little trinkets and magazines lining the bottom of the counter.âŻÂ
I gave him a quick smile before glancing up at the cashier, who was watching us intently with a smile on her face.âŻÂ
âYour son is sweet. He seems to really love books.ââÂ
I shook my head slightly, unsure of how to respond to her comment, but also feeling a little choked up at the thought. My eyes darted to Luca who didnât seem to have noticed the comment. I settled for a smile and nod, âYeah, he really does.ââŻÂ
We left the bookstore with several bags full. Both of us were laughing at the ridiculousness of it as we loaded them into the car. He was giggling as he got settled into his seat. It was the same giggle I often heard when he and Dieter were spending time together. It caused a bloom of feelings that I couldnât describe. Feelings that made me warm and happy. Feelings that I didnât want to let go.âŻÂ
A short time later, we pulled into the garage. Luca helped me unload our spoils from the day and lug them into the house. Dieter was standing in front of the stove with a confused look on his face as he watched us carry the bags toward Lucaâs room.âŻÂ
When I returned to the kitchen, he switched off the stove eye and turned to me, âSooo, what was all that?âÂ
I smiled, âBooks. I need you to go buy a bookshelf for Luca tomorrow. Preferably a full sized one.ââŻÂ
He chuckled, sliding his hands onto my hips as he leaned in to give me a quick kiss on the mouth, âThank you for today. Thank you for trying. I know this isnât easy on you.ââŻÂ
I smiled against his lips, âStrangely enough, itâs not as hard as I thought it would be. Thank you for pushing me.âÂ
Luca came wandering into the kitchen, swinging his arms dramatically as he walked. He stopped in front of us, peering up at me with a shy smile, âMrs. Talia, will you read with me after dinner?ââŻÂ
I could feel Dieter smiling against my cheek as I turned to look at the boy, âOf course! We both will. How about you and Dieter go pick out a book while I finish up with dinner?ââŻÂ
Luca smiled brightly, grabbing Dieterâs hand and tugging on it, âYou heard her. Letâs go!âÂ
Dieter snorted, giving me one last quick kiss on the cheek before Luca pulled him down the hallway. I smiled to myself, suddenly feeling overly emotional. A few tears slipped out as I turned my back toward the direction they had gone. Things were going to be different after today. I knew that. I could already feel it. I didnât want to give this kid up. I wanted him to be ours. Dieter hadnât explicitly said that, but I could tell he felt the same way. If they did find family to take him in, letting him go was going to be hard on the both of us. I had been worried about Dieter being able to handle it, but now I questioned if I could.âŻÂ
The following Monday, Luca was set to return to school. He seemed totally fine with it, but I was a bundle of nerves. I was worried it would be too much for him, too soon, even though he had been handling things without issue. When the alarm went off, Dieter moved to get out of bed, but I stopped him.âŻÂ
âYou sleep in, Iâll take him. I have a million questions about his paperwork. Itâll be easier if I handle it.ââŻÂ
Dieter snuggled into my side, burying his face in my neck, âYou sure? I can still go with you.ââŻÂ
I turned to face him, scratching at his graying stubble and nuzzling against his nose, âItâs fine, you were up late with your scripts. Get some sleep. Iâll be back shortly.ââŻÂ
I leaned in to give him a quick kiss, but he deepened it as his hand gripped my hip and pulled me tightly against the hardness in his boxer briefs.âŻÂ
I smiled against his lips, âMmmm, hold that thought until I get back.ââŻÂ
He whined, giving me one last peck before pulling away, âOk, fine. Hurry back to me, mi amor (my love).ââŻÂ
His fingers trailed after me as I rolled out of bed, he had his infamous sad puppy look on his face before he buried himself under the blanket to fall back to sleep. I threw on my robe and wandered down the hallway to make sure Luca was awake. The sound of the shower coming from his bathroom told me he was. I headed back to the master suite to make myself presentable while Dieter snored away under his pile of blankets and pillows. Just as I opened the bedroom door to head toward the kitchen to make breakfast, Moony came bursting in. I had to move quickly to grab him before he jumped on the bed and woke Dieter. After shooing him into the hallway, I followed, closing the door behind me. Moony quickly disappeared into Lucaâs room, leaving me in peace to make a quick breakfast.âŻÂ
I was plating our scrambled egg and cheese sandwiches when Luca came skipping into the kitchen with Moony on his heels. He seemed excited to be going back to school, which surprised me. He was eager and ate quickly, occasionally sneaking small pieces of egg to Moony under the table. A habit he had obviously picked up from Dieter.âŻÂ
Minutes later, we gathered our things, put Moony downstairs in the dog room with the rest of the crew, and headed toward the school. I didnât really have questions about his paperwork. I might have over dramatized that some. I did, however, want to get as much information as I could about Luca. I knew I would have a ton of questions if given the chance to talk to someone.âŻÂ
Luckily, Lucaâs teacher, Miss Katie, was in the front office waiting for us to arrive. After introducing herself, she sent Luca ahead to class so we could chat.âŻÂ
She gave me a warm smile as we watched Luca walk down the hallway toward his room, âI was delighted to hear that you and Dieter would be taking Luca in. Heâs improved so much since he started spending time with Dieter in the mentoring program. Iâm sure heâll continue to do so now.ââŻâŻÂ
I shrugged, âYeah, well, it may not be permanent. Weâre still waiting to hear back about other family members.ââŻÂ
She nodded solemnly, âI didnât get the impression he had a lot of family.ââŻÂ
My lips set into a tight line, âCan I ask you about his home life? I donât know much about it.âÂ
She pursed her lips, âI mean, youâre his legal guardian now. So, I donât see why not.ââŻÂ
She paused briefly and sighed, âI donât know much, but I donât think it was good. They were low incomeâŚmost weekends I sent food home with him to make sure he was covered. Iâve taken him to get a haircut a few times too. He often wore the same clothes several days in a row and came in dirty.ââŻÂ
Her brows furrowed as she met my gaze, âIt just seemed like his mom wasnât very engaged with him. I always had a hard time getting her to respond, turn in paperwork, or come to meetings. When she did, she seemed distracted and honestly, sort of out of it. She would often leave him at school late. Iâm not sure if it was because of work like she said or if she just forgot to get him. From what Iâve heard, she sort of went off the deep end after her husband died in that car accident. I donât think she was veryâŚpresent in his life if Iâm being honest.âÂ
Hearing this made my heart ache. How had he turned out to be such a good kid through all that?âŻÂ
Miss Katie was smiling now, âBut like I said, the mentoring program did wonders for him. He really began to come out of his shell after starting that. I know Dieter spent extra time with himâŚto help with homework. I obviously couldnât share any details with Dieter at the time, but based on his line of questioning, I think he knew Luca didnât have a good home life. He always wanted to help with him any way he could.ââŻâŻÂ
I had to fight back tears. Dieter had been there for this kid more than I had realized. I should have been more involved early on, but it was his thing. I didnât want to overstep. I never would have guessed this would be the result.âŻÂ
âWell, while Luca is with us, weâll definitely be involved with his academics. Heâs a smart kid and has a serious thirst for knowledge. Itâll be a top priority. I also just wanna make sure heâs ok. He seems to be handling things too well. Iâm not sure if he fully understands whatâs happened.ââŻÂ
She sucked in a deep breath, seeming to think through her response. âAt his age, itâs hard to say. I think he probably has an understanding of what death is. What they usually donât understand is the finality of itâŚthat itâs foreverâŚbut, with his father having passed, he may understand it better than most kids his age.ââŻÂ
I chewed on my lower lip and nodded in understanding, âIs it normal that he seems unbothered by it though? He hasnât even really mentioned his mother at allâŚdirectly anyway.âÂ
She shrugged, âIâm not sure. Maybe he didnât really have a strong bond with her. If thatâs the case, then maybe not. You never know how trauma will affect a child. Has he seen a therapist or anything like that yet?ââŻÂ
I shook my head, âNot yet. Iâve been in contact with someone we work closely with. She suggested we give him a little time to adjust before bringing him inâŚmake sure heâs comfortable and feeling safe so that heâs more likely to trust the process and open up.ââŻÂ
She gave me a warm smile, âWell, he couldnât have been put with anyone better to help him through it. You guys are doing amazing work. Iâm legitimately happy for himâŚand honestly, I hope he gets to stay with you.âÂ
I cleared my throat, fighting the tears that were threatening to fill my eyes, âYeah, me too.â I huffed out a laugh, âWell, Iâll let you get back to work. Thank you for chatting with me.â I paused, digging in my bag, âI almost forgot, hereâs his updated paperwork. Please call me if he needs anythingâŚor if you do.ââŻÂ
We said our goodbyes after that. As I got back into the car to head home, I couldnât help wondering about Lucaâs relationship with his mother. It made me sad for him, that he didnât seem to have had a nurturing figure in his life. More than ever, I wanted to give that to him. I wanted him to have a normal, happy, and loving family. It wasnât up to me though. I was powerless to make it happen. I had to rely on others to make the choice and I hated it.âŻÂ
By the time I pulled into the garage, I was feeling needy. I needed to be loved and comforted by my husband. I wanted to feel connected to him. He was the only one that could settle the storm brewing in my thoughts. All of the âwhat ifsâ and possible outcomes were weighing heavily on my heart, causing my chest to feel tight. It was a level of anxiety that I hadn't experienced in some time.âŻÂ
When I got inside, I went straight to the bedroom. I found Dieter sprawled out on his back in nothing but his black boxer briefs, the covers now shoved off to the side. He was snoring lightly, completely unaware that I had returned. After undressing down to my bra and panties, I crawled into the bed beside him, propping myself up on one elbow and draping my other arm and a leg across him. My hand roamed the width of his broad chest, stirring him from his slumber.âŻÂ
His eyes blinked open slowly as he grabbed my hand and brought it to his lips.âŻÂ
âDid you get everything figured out?â he asked with a gravelly tone.âŻÂ
I nodded, not trusting my voice as I moved my hand to cup his cheek. His brows furrowed, his eyes now studying my face, âEverything ok?âÂ
My lips set into a tight line as I nodded again. I let out a stuttered breath, âI justâŚneed you...I need you to calm my mind.ââŻÂ
I didnât have to say another word. Dieter knew what I needed. He knew how to get me out of my head before I spiraled to a place that wasnât healthy for me to be. The connection that scared us so much in the beginning was now our refuge. Itâs how we communicated and grounded each other when things got tough. We had perfected it into our own brand of therapy.âŻÂ
He leaned forward, kissing me deeply. His hands roaming my body as he gently turned us so that I was on my back allowing him to settle between my thighs.âŻÂ
His lips moved downward, his breath heating my neck as he spoke against it, âConcĂŠntrate en mĂ, mi luz. DĂŠjalo ir.â (Focus on me, my light. Let it go.)âŻÂ
His fingertips trailed down between my breast, my stomach, then dipped under the black lace of my panties, finding their destination at the apex of my thighs and dipping into the slick. His motions elicited a soft moan from my lips, making me forget my worries for the time being. He had me coming undone in no time as his thumb worked the sensitive nub and his fingers curled inside of me, hitting the right spot that he knew so well. I arched up into him, grinding into his hand as he nuzzled his nose against mine, âThatâs it baby. Take what you need from me.ââŻÂ
His darkened eyes peered down into mine, watching the waves of pleasure wash over me as my jaw fell slack and I trembled beneath him. He kissed me sweetly, slowing his movements and allowing me to come down. As I worked to catch my breath, he sat back on his heels, sliding my panties down my legs as he scooted backwards off the bed. He stood to remove his boxer briefs before crawling back to the center of the bed, tucking his thighs underneath mine, then pulling me up to straddle his hips.âŻÂ
We sat there for a moment, just looking at each other. My fingers combed through his messy curls as his hands explored my body, settling at the center of my back to unhook my bra. I quickly discarded it on the floor with the rest of our clothes. He hugged me tightly against his chest, our mouths now tasting each other as I moved against his hard length. His lips eventually moved downward as I rose up on my knees, sucking one nipple into his mouth with his hand massaging the other. I moaned into the top of his hair as I hugged him against me, feeling the heat of his mouth going straight to my core.âŻÂ
His hand freed my breast, moving downward to encircle his hard length to notch the head at my entrance. Our gazes locked as I slowly sank down onto him. His jaw went slack once I began rocking my hips and peppering his face with kisses and whispers of âI love youâ. He nuzzled his nose against mine, staring deeply into my eyes with an occasional sensual kiss thrown in. This was our therapy, reconnecting with one another in the most intimate way we knew how. Grounding ourselves and mentally resetting to take on our worries together.âŻÂ
We went on like that for some time, our sweat covered bodies moving as one until we crashed over the edge together. I tightened around him as stars formed behind my eyelids. Dieter whimpered loudly into my mouth as he spilled into me for the first time in two weeks. It had been two weeks too long. We hadnât gone that long without being intimate since before we were married, which only seemed to make things more intense than normal.âŻÂ
We sat in silence, trying to catch our breath as we let physical touch do the talking for us. Our hands running through each otherâs hair and sliding across damp skin. Dieterâs head lolled backwards, now looking at me with a dazed smile.âŻÂ
âI missed you. Letâs not wait that long again. I donât care if Iâm half dead at bedtime, make me do it anyway.ââŻÂ
I chuckled, âNoted. Hopefully itâll slow down now that things are settled some.ââŻÂ
He nodded before kissing me deeply, pulling away to rest his forehead against mine.âŻÂ
âYou wanna tell me whatâs going on now? Itâs talk time,â he said in a low voice.Â
I smiled and leaned back slightly, scratching at his scalp as my eyes took in his beautiful face - his chocolate eyes with the newly formed wrinkles around them from his constant smiles, his curved nose that I loved nuzzling against mine, the grays in his scruffy beard that sent me into sensory overload when he rubbed them against my inner thighs. This was my medication. Him. He was the only thing I needed to be calm and talk through my feelings.âŻÂ
I sighed, âI donât wanna let him go, Dieter. I want him to be oursâŚand Iâm not sure how Iâll handle any other outcome.ââŻÂ
I felt his arms tighten around me, âI know, baby. Me too. If it doesnât work out, weâll get through it together. Just like we do everything elseâŚâÂ
The tears were sliding down my cheeks now. His thumbs reached to wipe them away. I sniffled, âYou know what he asked me the other day while we were at the aquarium?ââŻÂ
He shook his head. I felt a smile tugging at my lips from the memory, âHe asked if weâre gonna be his new parents. He said thatâs what he wanted.âÂ
Dieterâs eyes pooled with tears, âHe really said that?ââŻÂ
I nodded, âHe did. I told him that itâs not up to us, but if thatâs what he wanted, we would try if given the option. I didnât think you would object to that.ââŻÂ
The tears were sliding down his cheeks now, but he was smiling. It was happy tears. He sighed, âI canât help thinking that itâs all gonna work out. Itâs just a feeling I have.âÂ
I reached up to wipe his tears away, âDo you ever wonder if all of this was meant to be? If our path was written in the stars from the beginning?â I inhaled a deep breath before continuing, âI meanâŚat what point does a series of coincidences become something more? Weâre we destined to find each other and go through everything that we went through just so Luca could be in our lives? He probably wouldnât be if things had happened differently. If we hadn't stayed in the same hotel in New York, or if you had lived just a few minutes farther away from me and I didnât make it to you in time that night?âÂ
He huffed out a laugh, âI donât know about any of thatâŚbut if our story is written for usâŚI wouldnât change a thing because it brought us together. If that was the way it was meant to happen, then so be itâŚfuck free choice. I have to believe this is gonna go in our favor because everything else has, even if it was a hard path. It just feels right.âÂ
I gave him a sad smile, âI wish I could be as positive as you are about it, but I canât get my hopes up. Itâll just crush me that much more if it doesnât work out.ââŻÂ
He kissed my forehead, âItâs ok, I have enough positivity about this for the both of us.â He pulled me tight against his chest, dipping his head to kiss my shoulder. âCan we stay like this until pickup time? I have two weeks to make up for.ââŻÂ
I snorted out a laugh against his neck, âYouâre so ridiculous.ââŻÂ
He shrugged, âIâm sorry, my dick said heâs not done yet.ââŻÂ
It was then that I realized he was already getting hard again, still nestled inside of me. I leaned back to look at him and was met with a mischievous smile.âŻÂ
âJesus Christ, Dieter! Already? Did you take Viagra or something?â I couldnât hold back my laugh.âŻÂ
He scoffed, looking offended at my suggestion. âI donât need that shit. You know better. It's all me, baby. You do it to me.â He buried his face in my neck before inhaling deeply and groaning, âFuckâŚyou smell amazing. Why does that do things to me?ââŻÂ
He fell over onto the bed, pulling me with him and setting off a fit of giggles which led into a rather playful round two.âŻÂ
We did end up spending most of the morning in bed, eventually showering together, then having a late lunch. We both felt reinvigorated and ready to deal with whatever came our way. We needed that time together - time to regroup and share our emotions.âŻÂ
I realized the disconnected feeling that I was having about the situation had now subsided. I was almost afraid to admit it, but as we picked Luca up from school that day, it felt like we were truly learning to be a family. It still scared me, but part of me also welcomed it. Luca was excited to see both of us there at pickup. The bright smile he gave us as he approached the car was completely worth it.âŻÂ
We settled into a routine after that. Dieter and I would take turns dropping him off and picking him up from school. Sometimes we would both go when we could. Each night we would help him with his homework then spend some time reading before bed. I could see an improvement in his reading ability over the following weeks. His teacher was also reporting that he was having major improvements with his grades and seemed to be doing well emotionally. On the days he didnât have a lot of homework, Dieter would teach him Spanish. He was picking it up quicker than me. It was clear, Luca was thriving in his new life. Dieter and I couldnât have been prouder of him.âŻÂ
When he wasnât in school, he was with one of us - going to set with Dieter on his smaller jobs or hanging out with me in the office. He was forever inquisitive about everything happening around him, always full of questions on the drive home.âŻÂ
Unfortunately, the more time Luca spent with us outside of the house, the more attention it brought from the paparazzi. We always avoided places where they lurked, but they were increasingly showing up in random locations. One late evening, they caught us leaving the office. Initially, they held back, filming from a distance. However, once I got Luca settled into the back seat, a couple of them appeared next to the car. They asked how I was doing. I played along and was polite at first, but then they asked about Luca. âWho is he? Why is he staying with you?â I shut them down, refusing to speak any further as I got into the driver's side to leave.âŻÂ
A few days later, I was sitting on the couch, scrolling social media when I found some pictures of Dieter and Luca outside of a snow cone shop. The pictures linked to an online publication. Lucaâs face was blurred out, but it was still rattling. The images showed Dieter and Luca laughing, Dieter with his arm around Lucaâs shoulders as they waited in line, Dieter ruffling the boy's hairâŚjust very mundane things that supported the most ridiculous article title: Does Dieter Bravo Have a Secret Love Child?Â
I nearly choked on nothing as I read it. Scrolling further down into the article revealed more pictures of the both of us dropping Luca off at school and the three of us out and about in town. It was the most ridiculous thing I had ever seen. I tried not to pay it much attention until shared posts started showing up in my feed, and other articles citing that one as a source. It seemed to be getting out of hand in a matter of hours of the original article being published.âŻÂ
I sighed, pulling myself up off the couch to go find Dieter. He and Luca were downstairs in the craft room, painting. The sliding glass doors were open, allowing the dogs to chase each other in and out of the house, causing absolute chaos. Yet, they were both engrossed in their painting, completely unaware of the madness. I sidled up to Dieter, rubbing at his shoulder to get his attention. Without stopping his paint strokes, he slid one arm around my waist and pulled me into his side, hugging me to him in silence.âŻÂ
âDieter, I need to show you something.ââŻÂ
He nodded, still focused on his canvas. âOK, so show me.ââŻÂ
I held my phone up in front of his face. His eyes widened as he took in the article title, the paint brush slipped from his fingers and fell to the floor, splattering blue paint everywhere.âŻÂ
âWhat the fuck?!?! Seriously?!?!ââŻÂ
Luca paused, now turning to look at us. âWhatâs wrong?â he asked with eyes as wide as Dieterâs. Dieter burst out laughing as he realized what they were insinuating. âThe bullshit they come up withâŚthat one takes the cake.ââŻÂ
I huffed, âArenât you concerned thatâs gonna cause a frenzy though? Theyâve already started bugging us.ââŻÂ
He sighed, âThatâs a good pointâŚI have an interview scheduled for Friday. Maybe I can address it then? Or Maybe Elaine can do a press release? I dunno⌠Iâll call her tonight.âÂ
Luca was still watching us, wide-eyed. Dieter smiled at him, âItâs nothing hombrecito. Just the paps posting crazy stories about us.ââŻÂ
Luca rolled his eyes and turned back around to work on his painting of what I assumed was Moony.âŻÂ
Dieter grabbed my ass and squeezed gently, âDonât worry about it, mi estrella (my star). Iâll take care of it.ââŻÂ
He planted a juicy kiss on my lips. As he pulled away, Moony grabbed the paint brush he had dropped and took off outside. We watched in horror as two of the foster pups proceeded to try and grab it from him, getting blue paint all over their faces in the process.âŻÂ
I snorted, âYouâre cleaning that mess up.ââŻÂ
Luca laughed loudly as Dieter dropped his head and slumped his shoulders in defeat.âŻÂ
True to his word, Dieter did take care of the rumors. He addressed it during his interview, which was meant to focus on one of his new film projects. I tuned in to watch, nervous over how it would go.âŻÂ
The interviewer opened by addressing the gossip head on, asking if it was true that he had a secret love child. Dieter laughed at the ridiculousness of it before diving into his response.âŻÂ
âThe short answer is no, I do not. I believe I was pretty open about being snipped before Talia and I got married. So, Iâm not really sure how anyone came to that particular conclusion.ââŻÂ
Then the interviewer asked, âAnd the long answer?âÂ
His demeanor changed, a genuine smile spreading across his face now. âWe do have a young gentleman staying with us right now. Heâs a minor, so Iâm not gonna share any detailsâŚbut I can say that I worked with him through the mentoring program that our foundation funds through the local school system. Heâs found himself in an unfortunate situation and needed a place to go. So, weâve opened our home to him until things get figured out.ââŻÂ
âSo, itâs temporary then?ââŻÂ
Dieter shrugged, âThatâs what theyâre telling us for now, but weâll see.âÂ
The interviewer gave him a warm smile, âWell, I hope things turn out the way you want them to. Thanks for sharing that with us. I know itâs been a hot topic the last few days. Now, letâs move on to your next filmâŚââŻÂ
I let out a breath I didnât realize I had been holding. That seemed like it went well. My phone buzzed. It was Elaine.âŻÂ
Elaine: Donât worry. He answered it perfectly. That should calm things down. Itâll probably even translate to more (positive) press for him too.âŻÂ
Me: Thanks. That helps calm my nerves some.âŻÂ
Elaine: I know. đ (smirk emoji)Â
I chuckled. She knew me too well.âŻÂ
Things did settle down with the paparazzi after that. Thankfully. However, there was still a black cloud hanging over us. We were waiting for the call that would change everything. It had been two months since Luca had first come to stay with us. I had only received the occasional text thus far to say there were no updates. However, on this day, my phone lit up with an incoming call from Amber. My heart immediately started hammering in my chest out of fear of what news she would bring. I hesitated, but finally answered.âŻÂ
âHey Talia, itâs Amber. I wanted to give you a call to share the latest. We got a lead on an auntâŚhis dadâs sister. Weâre working to track her down. Itâs the only thing weâve got so far though. Iâm not sure how promising it is.âÂ
My mouth had gone dry, I almost couldnât speak, âThatâsâŚgreat news.â It sounded forced and disingenuous.âŻÂ
I wasnât sure if Amber picked up on it or not. If she did, she didnât let on, âHowâs he doing? Things still going well? Weâre getting good reports from the school.ââŻÂ
I cleared my throat, âYeah, heâs doing great. He seems like heâs adjusted well.ââŻÂ
âThatâs good. You guys are doing a good job with him. Keep up the work. Iâll give you a call when I hear something new. Talk to you soon.âÂ
I had to force a âgoodbyeâ out as I disconnected the call. This wasnât the news that I wanted, and I dreaded sharing it with Dieter.âŻÂ
Dieter took the news about like I thought he would. His optimistic attitude was beginning to wane. Having the uncertainty of everything hanging over our heads made it hard to enjoy our time together as a family. Every time my cell phone rang, it took us out of the moment and raised our anxiety to max levels. We hadnât told Luca about the latest development, deciding that we wanted him to enjoy his time with us with as little worry as possible. He deserved that much.âŻÂ
About three and a half months into Lucaâs time with us, we were all in the dining room. I was cleaning up after dinner while Dieter helped Luca with his math homework, or rather, Luca was teaching Dieter how to do his math homework because Dieter wasnât following. We were laughing at Dieterâs tirade about how ridiculous math is when my phone rang.âŻÂ
I saw Amberâs name flash across my phone. My expression must have given it away because Dieterâs words trailed off as he gave me a worried look. I gave him a tight smile before stepping outside onto the deck to take the call.âŻÂ
âHey Amber, how are you?â I asked, trying to sound chipper and happy to talk to her.âŻÂ
âHey Talia! Iâm good. How is everyone on your end?âÂ
I nodded as I responded, âG-Good. Weâre all good hereâŚâ It didnât sound very convincing.âŻÂ
I could hear the smile in her voice, âThat's great to hear. So, Iâll get to the pointâŚAfter checking everything out, it looks like itâs all hinging on the aunt. There are no surviving grandparents and there doesnât appear to be any other close relatives. Weâre still trying to locate the aunt, but Iâm gonna be honestâŚbased on some of the feedback weâve gotten, she may not be fit to take him even if she wants to. If thatâs the case, then the next step is Luca becoming available for adoption.ââŻÂ
I was quiet for a moment, processing her words. I was feeling both excitement and fear with this news. There was still a chance that someone else could get him, but we were one step closer. Amber interrupted my thoughts, âIs that something you think you guys might be interested in at this point? Adopting him? You get first dibs since heâs already with you.âÂ
I inhaled deeply, âUmmmâŚâ Dieter caught my eye through the window. He was still sitting with Luca at the table, but watching me intently, looking for any sign as to what was happening with our conversation. âYes, we want to. More than anythingâŚbutâŚI do have some concerns.ââŻÂ
Amber was quiet for a moment, âSuch as?âÂ
I let out a stuttered breath, âWill our mental health history be an issue? I donât want to start this if thereâs no chanceâŚâÂ
Amber cut me off, âNo, no. Absolutely not. You guys have been good for a while now. Youâre both doing great, and you make a point to take care of yourselves in that regardâŚand it gives you a hand up in dealing with Lucaâs trauma too. As long as your doctor supports and signs off on it, itâs a non-issue.ââŻÂ
I sighed in relief. This was something that had been at the back of my mind that I was afraid to acknowledge, but it seemed like it was reaching the point where I needed to.âŻÂ
âThatâs good to hear. That gives me some hope thenâŚbut I donât wanna get my hopes up either.ââŻÂ
âI understand that. Itâs not an easy situation. Being a foster parent is hard. It takes a strong person to let these kids in, knowing they may ultimately have to let them go and never see them again.âÂ
I huffed out a laugh, âYeah, I donât think I can do this again. As much as I want to, I canât.ââŻÂ
âI canât say Iâm surprised by that. Iâm happy you tried it though. At least you know what itâs about.ââŻÂ
âYeahâŚme tooâŚâÂ
We ended the call after that. I was rubbing at my forehead as Dieter walked out onto the deck, silently closing the door behind him.âŻÂ
âWhat did she say?â he asked. The look on his face could only be described as a mixture of fear and anguish.âŻÂ
âTheyâre still looking for the auntâŚbut itâs down to her. There are no other options. If she canât or doesnât want to take him, then heâll be available for adoption.ââŻÂ
You could see the tension leave Dieterâs body as he closed the space between us and pulled me into a tight hug.Â
âThatâs good news then. Weâre one step closer. Itâs better than the alternative.âÂ
I sighed, âYeah, I guess. You knowâŚI feel kind of shity hoping that no one wants this kid. Itâs sad for him. I donât want him to feel unwanted and like he doesnât have a family, yet thatâs exactly what Iâm wishing for. I feel selfish.ââŻÂ
Dieter pushed some stray hairs back off my face, âThatâs not true, mi vida (my life). Heâs wanted and he does have a familyâŚdoesnât matter if itâs not by blood. We wanna give him a life and we willâŚa fulfilling and happy one. Thatâll be enough for him. So, wish away. Itâs not selfish if we have good intentions.ââŻÂ
I nodded, fighting back tears. He always knew the right thing to say to calm me.âŻÂ
We decided to wait until we had more concrete news before we told Luca anything. I knew he had to be curious. He never asked though. We continued through our daily routine, living as a family and falling completely in love with the kid more and more with each passing day. He fit into our life so perfectly and was literally becoming a mini version of Dieter. Seeing them together made my heart feel complete, filling in that last little puzzle piece that I hadnât even realized was missing.âŻÂ
Seeing the fatherly side of Dieter was causing me to fall for him even more, which I didnât realize was possible. The man had so much love to give now that he had opened himself up to it and he had no limits. I loved every version of him, but this oneâŚit was something else.âŻÂ
About a month later, I was in the kitchen cleaning up after breakfast. Dieter had left to drop Luca off at school. I had just watched one of the foster dogs overturn a large bowl of water as they all caused chaos throughout the house, when my phone rang. It was Amber. I felt my stomach drop. I knew this call was going to change everything. It was the call we had been anxiously awaiting while simultaneously hoping it never came.âŻÂ
As soon as Amber greeted me, I was trying to read her voice. She was giving me nothing as she got into her usual small talk. I finally had to cut her off.âŻÂ
âAmber, I donât mean to be rude, but can we cut to the chase? Whatâs going on?âÂ
She chuckled, âItâs not rude. I know you guys have been waiting for a while to see how this is gonna go.ââŻÂ
I laughed nervously, âYeah, we have.âÂ
I could hear her take a deep breath before she continued. It immediately set me on edge.âŻÂ
âWellâŚdepending on how you look at it, I have some good news.âÂ
That didnât really tell me anything. In fact, it made me more nervous. âOk, and that news isâŚ?âÂ
She was smiling now, âSo, we finally got in contact with the aunt. Sheâs not interested or even able to care for him. Which means you guys can start the process for adoption if you still want that.ââŻÂ
I couldnât hold back my tears. It took everything in me to keep from sobbing into the phone. âYes. Yes, of course we do. I mean, I wanna talk to Luca about it first, but yesâŚwe do.ââŻÂ
âI thought you might say that. Iâll send the paperwork over this afternoon. Iâm here to help you through the process, so let me know if you need anything.ââŻÂ
I thanked her before disconnecting the call. I stood there in the middle of the kitchen, unable to move in disbelief. The sobs bubbled up from my chest, no longer able to contain them. I was feeling every emotion - excitement, happiness, relief. It was almost too much. Dieter came in from the garage just as I was allowing the emotions to overtake me. He immediately rushed over to me, engulfing me in his arms and pulling me tightly against his chest as he begged me to tell him what was going on. It took me a minute to finally compose myself enough to talk.âŻÂ
I sniffled, âAmber just calledâŚâÂ
He pulled back just enough to meet my gaze, looking like he was about to break as his eyes filled with tears.âŻÂ
I shook my head, still sniffling, âN-No, itâs good news. The auntâŚshe didnât want him. Amberâs sending the adoption paperwork over today.ââŻÂ
I watched his features shift from distraught to excitement as a brilliant toothy smile spread across his face. His eyes flooded with happy tears as sobs rippled through his body. He pulled me back into a tight embrace mumbling sweet words into my neck. We were elated as realization set in that we were finally going to have a son.âŻÂ
Dieter and I went to pick Luca up from school together that afternoon. We had decided that we would tell him the news at dinner and ask him how he felt about it. So, when Luca asked from the back seat why we were so smiley, it took everything in us not to say anything just yet. Dieter chuckled, changing the subject without answering him. Instead, he asked Luca what he wanted for dinner.âŻÂ
He put his finger to his chin, like he was deep in thought, âHmmmâŚhow aboutâŚpizza!ââŻÂ
Dieter and I laughed at his enthusiasm and agreed that it felt like a pizza night. To Lucaâs delight, we stopped to pick up two pizzas on the way home. As we walked inside, I watched Luca go to his room to put his things away. A few minutes later he returned and without a word began preparing the dog's dinner while Dieter assisted. They disappeared downstairs to feed everyone while I pulled out cups and plates for us to eat once they were finished. The way we had settled into our life still amazed me most days and it was hitting me all over again that this would soon be permanent.âŻÂ
Just as we were finishing up dinner, Dieter was the one to bring up the news. I watched as his fingers began to absentmindedly trace the groove in his glass of water. He was nervous. I reached over and took his other hand in mine, giving it a squeeze.âŻÂ
âSoâŚLuca, we got some news today that we wanna talk to you about.ââŻÂ
Luca looked between us, his brown eyes wide and hopeful. Something told me he knew what it was about. He gently pushed his plate away and leaned forward on the table, waiting for Dieter to continue.Â
âIt looks like weâre gonna be given the opportunity to apply for adoption so that you can stay with usâŚbut we wanna make sure youâre ok with that first.ââŻÂ
Lucaâs brows furrowed, âDoes that mean you can be my parents for real?âÂ
Dieter shot a nervous glance in my direction before looking back at the boy, âYeah, that means we can be your parents for real. You would be stuck with us, forever.âÂ
Lucaâs eyes filled with tears, âReally? I can stay here?ââŻÂ
Dieter and I both nodded. Luca launched out of his seat to run around the table and hug us.âŻÂ
âWe still have to go through the process, and it has to be approved by the court, but weâre gonna do everything we can to make it official.â I added. I wanted to make it clear that we still had a process to get through. It didnât matter though, the prospect of it was enough. We were all a crying mess before it was all said and done. Excited about the news and possibilities.âŻÂ
Dieter and I worked to get the paperwork started and submitted within days of receiving it. It was a long and arduous process, but we managed it. After eleven months of jumping through all the hoops of paperwork, home visits, check ins, and interviews, we finally got our adoption hearing with the court. The entire family joined us as did many of our close friends. Several representatives from the school and CDSS were in attendance as well to show their support in addition to the numerous letters of support that had been submitted to the court on our behalf. With no dissent or challenges to the adoption, the judge had no issues with approving it. The judge praised us for the work we were doing with Luca and with the community. Everyone broke out into cheers as Dieter pulled Luca and I into his chest for a group hug. We couldnât have been happier with the outcome.âŻÂ
As we exited the courthouse, we thanked everyone who came to support us. Luca had a smile on his face through it all, holding on to mine and Dieterâs hands as we walked through the building. It was an emotionally exhausting morning for us, but we were in high spirits as we reached the car, discussing where to go for a celebratory lunch.
Dieter dropped Lucaâs hand to reach for the back door to open for him, but Luca, who was still holding my hand tightly in his other one, grabbed Dieterâs wrist, stopping him from opening the door. We both paused, giving him a questioning look.Â
âDoes this mean I can call you mom and dad now?â he asked in a shy voice as he looked between the two of us.âŻÂ
Dieter and I glanced at each other, both of us clearly getting emotional all over again as tears pooled in our eyes before kneeling down to Luca and pulling him into a hug. We sat there in silence for a brief time, all of us sniffling like fools.âŻÂ
âYou can call us whatever you want, hombrecito (little man),â Dieter finally said.âŻÂ
âWithin reason,â I added with a chuckle.âŻÂ
Dieter and Luca snorted as I mussed the boyâs hair. Luca leaned over to Dieter conspiratorially, âI guess mujer mandona (bossy woman) is out of the question then?ââŻÂ
Dieterâs tea kettle laugh sounded across the parking lot as he shook his head from side to side. I stared at the two of them trying to figure out what was so damn funny.âŻÂ
Dieter finally sputtered out between chuckles, âI would probably avoid that one, bud.âÂ
I huffed, looking at Luca, âWhat did you say?â The only response he gave was to shake his head, still smiling. I looked toward Dieter, âWhat did he say? Dieter?ââŻâŻÂ
Dieter laughed harder, refusing to answer me as he continued to shake his head and hold his stomach with his hand.âŻÂ
âOk, I see how it is you two...You're on dinner duty tonight for that.â I said as I got into the passenger seat of the car, smiling and shaking my head at them.âŻÂ
Dieter opened the back door, allowing Luca to plop down before he got into the driver's seat. They were both still chuckling as I gave them some serious side eye. Dieter suddenly gasped loudly, âI have an idea! Letâs head off the gossip columns and make it Instagram official.ââŻÂ
I arched an eyebrow in his direction, then looked at Luca. He smiled and shrugged, âSure.âÂ
Dieter pulled out his phone as Luca scooted forward to lean between the front seats. Dieter squished his cheek against Lucaâs and held his arm out to take a picture, but paused, then turned to look at me.âŻÂ
âCome on mama, youâre gonna be in it too,â he said with a smirk. Luca was smiling at me now too.âŻÂ
His words and their smiles made my heart flutter in my chest, causing me to feel almost giddy. How could I say no to that? I leaned forward and squished my cheek against Lucaâs while Dieter did the same to the other side. All of us gave the camera cheesy smiles as he snapped a few pics. We examined the images and picked the best one, all giving our approval before Dieter went to work.âŻÂ
Once Dieter made the post, he shoved his phone away and gave me a lopsided grin. I narrowed my eyes at him as I unlocked my phone to check Instagram.âŻÂ
The post was already racking up likes and comments. It was a cute picture, with an even cuter caption: âOur family just got bigger. Itâs Luca Bravoâs gotcha day! Your mama and papa love you, hombrecito!ââŻÂ
For the first time in months, I felt light and unencumbered. We were finally a family without worry and full of love and happiness. What more could we possibly ask for?âŻÂ
Dieterâs hand moved to my thigh, squeezing gently as he pulled out onto the main road to be immediately stopped by a red light. He glanced over at me with a mischievous grin.âŻÂ
âWhat are you smiling about?â I asked.Â
He fought to keep a straight face as he glanced at me for a second time, âMe and Luca want a baby goat.ââŻÂ
WellâŚthereâs that.âŻÂ
A/N: Everyone, give a big cheer for Dieter and Talia's one year anniversary! I can't believe it's been a year since I introduced these two to the world. Thank you for all the love and support you have given to them (and me) through it all. I'm sure we will see more of these two at some point. We need to know how Dieter finally ended up with that baby goat that he wanted so badly...
Now that we have learned the details about how Luca came to be in their care and Dieter and Talia's journey to expand their family, does that change your view on the events that come later in the Epilogue? They really have been put through it.
And we got more Daddy Dieter goodness, that's always fun. Doesn't he just make you melt? I think how he handled everything in this oneshot shows just how much he has grown...and how much Talia has too.
I'll stop rambling now. Sound off about your thoughts with a comment or reblog. You know I love to hear them!

DP x DC Long Fics (100,000 Above)
Complete
Secrets Lost by ArtemisMoore :
(Currently being edited) Danny knew that someday, somehow that something like this would happen. That his parents would discover his secret and react in one of two ways; a) they would be confused but accept him like they had in all of the other temporary cases theyâd experienced, or b) they would stick to their guns (literally) and decide that their son was the enemy. Now, of course, he and his friends had been preparing for this day since the first Ghost Attack on Amity Park. They had bags packed, emergency supplies stashed around Amity Park and surrounding cities, emergency funds, and safe houses. They had plans, preparations, and procedures that all of âTeam Phantomâ had memorized. Even Valery, who had only been a part of âTeam Phantomâ for a week and still didnât know his identity! But none of them could have imagined that âOperation Friend or Foeâ would happen like this. When all of their preparations were hundreds of miles away, supplies were out of reach, and where all of his friends and allies couldn't help him. They had no idea⌠that everything would go this wrong. Word Count: 103,445 Completed

Nothing But The Dead And Dying (back in my little town) by Umei_no_Mai :

Bitter, had the Heart by CastrianAmore :
Tim is the only one consistently watching. Thus heâs the first and only one to notice one more body following the streets like the bats do. A kid with all black hair and white motifs and an attitude problem that reminds him a tad too much of Jason. It was a shame Jason was adamant that he âdidnât know anythingâ, what a liar right?
But the streets of Gotham listened and the name on everyoneâs lips playing like a discordant harmony was one word: Distortion. Not that Tim knew what it meant yet, but Danny would make sure he would. If Danny lived long enough for Tim to find out.
Word Count: 182,548 Completed
Wanted: Dead and Alive by Astereae :
âHey, I do I... Do I know you?â Danny asks, a hand coming up to brush something off Timâs cheek. âNo,â Tim says. âWe havenât met.â âOh, no, I do.â Danny says, and he smiles, teeth white and sharp. âYouâre that guy who rearranged my guts!â Rearranged his- Tim glances at the knotted scars on the boyâs abdomen. He can see the shine and shadow of haphazard stitches that werenât meant to hold forever, that tore and healed over. His- This- âWHAT!?â Nightwing shouts, equal parts confused and delighted. Timâs fucked. OR Danny Fenton's been in GIW captivity for 4 months. Tim Drake gets kidnapped by the GIW one Tuesday evening in May. Considering how many of the Bats and the Birds have died and come back to life, it was only a matter of time for some people interested in the afterlife to come poking around. The detectives can't seem to uncover any information about the mysterious white vans, however. And they keep losing the mysterious boy who seems to be the one person in Gotham to know anything at all. Word Count: 121,281 Completed

Kite Flies Over The Nightingale Nest by Th3Sp4rrow :
My prompt list is from ailesswhumptober on Tumblr :) Tw's are at the start of each chapter! When Jason Todd learns that Catherine Todd wasn't his biological mother- that his bio mom as well as his twin brother were still out there somewhere in the world- he'd almost left the matter alone. He already had Dick; he didn't need another brother. Although, he did miss his mom... He'd decided to try and find Sheila Haywood, the woman who had relinquished him to his father and had dropped his twin off somewhere along the way. Meanwhile, Daniel Fenton had been protecting his town of Amity Park for months. Now, with the Ghost Investigation Ward closing in, the stakes are higher than ever. After a night out gone horribly wrong, the Fentons' know his secret. He's Phantom, and he's half ghost. They chase him cross-country, meets some interesting characters, and sees the GIW attempting to kidnap a boy about his age. He takes action. He swoops in to save the boy and... fails. Instead of saving him, they both get shoved into the back of some shitty van. That was when they realized they knew the face staring back at them. Word Count: 139,347 On-going

close enough to be whole again by hailsatancab :
âIf you ever find yourself in danger, go to Bruce Wayne. He will help you.â His mother had loved him, in her own way. If she hadnât, she wouldnât have helped him escape. If she hadnât, she would have dragged him back to the League of Assassins, to Grandfather. If she hadnât, heâd be dead. She loved him, but she loved the League more. Jack and Maddie Fenton loved him too, they did, but they loved their work more. They loved their work more. -- After his parents react poorly to his reveal, Danny escapes to the only person he thinks can help him - Bruce Wayne. He doesn't know what to expect when he gets there, but it has to be better than where he is, surely? He certainly doesn't expect to be reunited with his long lost twin brother Damian. It's funny how things work out that way. Danny is 16 years old, not Phantom Planet compliant Word Count: 117,934 On-going
Imprint by Hashtag_DriveBy :
He screwed his eyes shut, held his breath, desperately wished that he was back in his safehouse, alone and blissfully unaware. But the weight in his hands remained, and when he opened his eyes, it was to the bean-shaped 'fuck you' the Lazarus Pit had kindly bestowed upon him, arms and legs folded up against his front beneath off-white muslin while tiny lips smacked softly.
What the fuck.
What the hell was Jason supposed to do now?
Word Count: 119,791 On-going

Bus to Nowhere by foldingfacets :
Is it running from your problems if your problems consider you to be a dead imprint of consciousness that killed their son? Yes, but Danny tries not to think about how his nightmares of his parents trying to kill him came true when they found out he was Phantom. After being on the run from his parents and the government for a couple of months, moving from town to town, Danny ends up in Gotham City and decides to risk staying in Batman's territory. He'd take the wrath of Batman over live vivisection via beloved parents or being studied and torn apart by the government. Besides, he's not a meta. Being dead is a medical condition. Word Count: 108,870 On-going
Some Kind of Miraculous Bind by Saitrised :
Damian Wayne is the heir to the Bat, the Blood Son. Except, he wasn't always the only blood son. There was another, younger heir once, before Damian had left the league and his brother hadn't had the chance to join him. There was one alive heir to the Bat, and a second one, secret to all but him, that was gone. Danny Fenton is already tired of being the Ghost King. Not even six months into his reign, and he's having to deal with ectoplasmic leaking past Amity's borders and new, unknown threats against his people. And the fact that Gotham, the one city that he had mentally marked as off limits, seems to be where most of the problems are isn't helping. ---This is an upload of a heavily edited version of the previously posted chapter 14--- Word Count: 126,392 On-going
schrodinger's cat by Meetalotaku :
My extrapolated story from I'm building off flamingpuddings post on Tumblr. What if Selina Kyle was Danny bio mom. That she had with Batman. And she put him up for adoption to her distance relatives the fentons. I've also taken the liberty to set the phantom time line up a few years earlier. Danny had his accident in Jr high. At 11 in 6th grade. He meets Selina at not yet 14 teen. A ton of DC characters will make appearances eventually. But it's going to focus heavily on Gotham based characters first. And slowly sprinkle in more phantom characters and other dc characters from all media forms messed together. Word Count: 145,780 On-going
Wayne's Haunted Mansion by Tathartiel :
Something is wrong. Bruce notices it when he's not alone, but he feels like he is being watched. The bad part? He feels it both as Bruce Wayne and as Batman. Who is watching him? He's determined to find out. He regrets it when finds out that there is another child in his home, but one who is in desperate need of help. Word Count: 121,923 On-going
The Adventures of Big Talon and Little Talon. by Ispotteddumuss :
âBeware the Court of Owls, that watches all the time, ruling Gotham from a shadowy perch, behind granite and lime. They watch you at your health, they watch you in your bed, speak not a whispered word of them or they'll send the Talon for your head.â Jason would like a one Talon please. No, not the Other Talon. He wants the Little Talon. The one with yellow green eyes. The short one. You know the one that chirps. No, he's not turning into his Father, he swears. Little Talon doesn't know what he wants but he knows this new Big Talon is good. (It takes a bit to get to Big Talon and Little Talon part. It starts mostly just Little Talon. Like a while. We got there though but takes a bit.) Word Count: 167,257 On-going
Artificial Wingman by TheSleepyKitsune :

If you Give a Bat a Burger by Cielle_Noire :
Strange things are going on in Gotham: A series of crimes linked only by a sentence uttered. A drug that no one seems to be selling, but lots of people are taking. An old enemy reborn, or someone pretending to be him. Graffiti that can't be photographed by normal means. Bartenders disappearing without a trace. John Constantine is also there. Danny wants nothing to do with any of it. He just wants to sell burgers and survive. Actually, he'd like to go home again, but since that isn't possible, he'll stick with burgers. Gotham's vigilante's have other plans. This is why Danny doesn't do favors. Word Count: 248,148 On-going

âReporting live from Gotham City, here at the scene of the crime. Dr. Collin Kilye, renowned geneticist, has shot himself and has been declared dead by the paramedics. Dr. Kilye is suspected to be responsible for the purposeful switching of newborns between families under his care, where an known over 500 babies have been swapped in the last 20 years of his employment here. Based on the information provided to the Gotham PD by Nightwing and Batman, we are led to believe that Nightwing has been investigating this case after an anonymous tipoff. After a month and a half of investigating, Nightwing-â Dick had learned that people never know a situation as well as they assume they did. Dick had always assumed that he wouldnât be one of those people. He was a detective, a Bat, the first Robin. The case file in front of him glared tauntingly. He should've known better to assume anything.Danny Fenton; Birth Parents: Bruce Wayne (father) and Clarissa King (mother). Status: Alive Word Count: 100,571 On-going
Like and Survive-Phantom's Guide to Young Hero Survival by robinasnyder :
When the world becomes aware of teenaged superheroes there is an immediate and fierce wave of backlash and controversy. That's where Phantom comes in. Phantom saved the world from a meteor fifteen years back; an impressive feat back in the day but now that meteors threatening all life on earth is such a common event that hardly anyone thinks about it. Phantom is considered an old timer who deals with a small city and nowhere else. When he begins uploading videos with advice for young heroes, he hopes a few new heroes might avoid some of the pain he went through. He's shocked at just how popular his advice suddenly becomes. If you find a vigilante in the dumpster by lunamugetsu :
The plan was simple, Jazz and her now de aged brother would go lay low in Gotham, act as a mother-son duo. Wait as Danny heals up by absorbing the ambient ectoplasm leaking from the city and Vlad gives the green light that he has a safe place they could stay. Plus with the blessing from the Ghost of Gotham and knowing that even the GIW wouldn't dare to encroach on Batman's territory, it was a pretty safe plan. That was until a certain vigilante just keeps on finding himself in their dumpster. / / It was a normal night of patrol for Jason. Beating up a bunch of criminals. Shooting them with bullets (they're rubber bullets Bruce! Calm down!) Get stabbed by them. Pass out from blood loss in the place he was taking refuge in Wake up in an apartment, his wounds bandaged and all. And to a black haired blue eyed kid staring at him. "I found you in the garbage!" I Am A Retired Hero And My Love Interest Is A Former Crime Lored!? by ShyCrow :
Danny Fenton did the whole hero thing, all right? He fought bad guys, saved the world a couple of times, became enemies with a secret government faction. And it was fun. Really, he had no regrets! But now it's time for him to buckle down and focus on getting that degree. It's a good thing Gotham University gave him a full ride. But things are just now starting to get more and more complicated... It started as an accident that evolved into the Red Hood paying attention to Danny. And now ghosts are starting to lose objects that, if fallen into the wrong hands, can cause a lot of trouble for both Danny and the Ghost Zone. With the bats starting to take notice of him and the Zone's refusal to leave him alone, can he truly lead a normal life? And, more importantly, does he really want to? Word Count: 138,759 On-going
