Weird opinion nobody asked me for:

Several things can be true at once when talking about Leo’s arc in HOO regarding romance.

NO, Leo did not need to resolve his self esteem issues and insecurities before he started dating. You don’t have to be fully mentally healthy to date someone or be in love (Look at Percabeth! Both of them were a mess when they started dating, but they grow together.) The implication that you need to be fully recovered from any mental illness or trauma before being “allowed” to date is a dangerous one.

BUT it was incredibly disheartening to watch these insecurities lead Leo to being in a relationship where he is not as happy as he hoped he would be, and even in some cases, being abused by a girlfriend who seems almost ashamed to be associated with Leo at all. Calypso’s irritation and snipes at Leo don’t feel at all like when couples like Percabeth or Solangelo tease each other. When Percabeth and Solangelo tease each other, there’s an undercurrent of genuine affection, and also a sense that the two are on even footing in the relationship; Nico can call Will his “significant annoyance,” and Will can call Nico his “little ball of darkness.” Annabeth calls Percy “Seaweed Brain,” and he can call her “Wise Girl.” But there is no even footing with Caleo. Leo is so desperate to make things work with her that he won’t fire back when Calypso insults his interests or personality. The relationship is volatile and imbalanced, and honestly, that feels like a far more tragic ending for Leo than him being single at the end of HOO.

ALSO it was fully possible for Leo to have an arch where he realizes that he doesn’t need romance to be happy, and later getting into a romantic relationship. (Hell, it could even happen in the same book) I deeply resent the takes where people somehow see both these things as mutually exclusive. As an example of this, over time, I learned that grades don’t define who I am, and that I can build my self worth outside of them. That doesn’t mean that I have to give up on getting good grades entirely. What that does mean is that I focus more on learning the material for my own benefit than trying to get the highest score, and strangely enough, my grades started going up. In the case of Leo, a character arc where he learned to love himself and not need a romantic relationship doesn’t mean that he would stop looking for one. Instead, he would seek meaningful connections with the people around him, one of which could bloom into a romantic relationship.

ALSO it would be fully possible for Leo to have this arc while in a romantic relationship with someone. While a partner can’t “fix” you, the people we love can open doors for us to learn and grow. Hell, in the books, we see this demonstrated with Leo and Jason. Leo confides an insecurity, and Jason challenges this insecurity. This causes Leo to think, and thus to grow. Yes, they were not canonically romantic, but my point still stands that this isn’t necessarily a journey Leo would need to do alone. He could have had a romantic partner who helped in his journey of learning to love himself.

ALSO the desire Rick, and by some extension we (the fandom) had in HOO to pair every single character off with their “perfect match” is one that should be questioned. I think that Rick and the fandom have come a long way, and I think TOA really played around with this concept in a very interesting way. But the strange implication I sometimes see is that Leo having no romantic partner must mean that it’s an unsatisfying arc. As an aroace person, the implication that life and stories are only satisfying if the person involved ends up with a romantic partner is disheartening.(I say this as a Valgrace shipper) If your first instinct when hearing a character is single or learning to love being single is to go, “OH GOD, THEY’RE ALL ALONE AND WILL NEVER BE HAPPY! THIS IS THE WORST THING THAT COULD HAPPEN FOR THEM!” Maybe, it’s time to examine the implications behind those thoughts.

ALSO shipping is fun and not that serious. If you like a ship, go for it. This is not me telling you not to ship Leo with anyone, as I said, I’m a huge Valgrace fan.

HH having swear isn’t a problem, never has been. The problem is that the writers aren’t funny, the punchline is just “fuck” and “cum” and how the actors deliver of the word “fuck”Alastor is the most guilty of this because when he swears it’s just so try hard edgy like a teenager trying to sound intimidating but he’s just embarrassing himself. “I’m going to end your fucking life” gives me second hand embarrassment, it’s why alot of people make fun of alastor. Alastor and Lucifer back and forth in episode 5 reminds me of this old video where two middle schoolers are arguing about memes. That’s how viv writes swear words. Just two child trying to 1up each other with swear words. The only person to use swear efficiently is Vaggie and I know a lot of people harp on Stephanie Beatrix performance because she just sounds bored most of the time. I blame that entirely on the voice director, but her deadpan and bored tone sells a swear word it feels organic. Unlike the rest of the cast, it feels forced like their gritting their teeth and trying to get the words because they know it sounds bad but are trying very hard to sell it. Valentino is just abysmal I can see why no one wanted to audition for Valentino

Exactly and at times the swearing does feel drawn out especially in Helluva Boss. Alastor swearing for the first time was always a cool concept because out of all the Hazbin Hotel members, Alastor never swore and was proper. Alastor not swearing made him unique and refreshing.

So, I when I first watched episode 5 (without my critical lenses on) like everyone else, I was blown away by Alastor swearing. Then on rewatch while taking notes Alastor’s swearing to Lucifer felt unnecessary in retrospect because they were already fighting, taking jabs at each other, and had a 2 minute song dedicated to Lucifer and Alastor having a pissy contest (featuring Charlie being a 3rd wheel).

Personally, It felt redundant. It’s super obvious Alastor and Lucifer don’t like each other and see each other as a threat in different ways. Lucifer and Alastor’s argument really does feel like two middle schoolers arguing similarly to Bee and Ozzie arguing with Mammon in Mastermind. Except one is on a far worse scale.

Alastor calling Susan a bitch was just unnecessary and felt forced in, I won’t lie. It had my eyebrows raised. Then the infamous Alastor line where he was going to end Adam’s “fucking” life was embarrassing and even worse because he got his ass whooped. It was the most satisfying thing that has ever happened in Hazbin Hotel.

Yeah, the voice direction can be booty cheeks at times. The Broadway VAs do the best they can with the material provided. Richard Horvitz (VA of Crimson and Moxxie) does the voice direction for both Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel. Wait no one wanted to audition for Valentino, that’s lowkey funny. Then again you would have to deal with the consequences of voicing a rapist.

Edwin's Parents Canonically Did Not Hug Him

I was watching interviews of the boys for a post I'm working on, and fucking excuse me?!

We have confirmation from George that Edwin's parents did not hug him while he was alive. It's due much more to the time period rather than neglectful parenting, but that is still crazy to think about. He also says "parents", meaning both his father and his mother; neither of them gave him any kind of physical affection.

The repressive time period causing Edwin's parents to be very emotionally absent from his life is not a new concept, and it gets brought up in varying intensities in fanfics I've read, but it always felt like a fuzzy, floating concept based on speculation heavily supported by probability. I knew it was an accurate assumption, but I couldn't reach out and touch it, if that makes any sense. Now, it's concrete in my mind.

It gives this scene even more weight:

Edwin's expressions, while already perfectly understandable, make even more sense. The way he's seemingly pained by the embrace at first. He did not even realize how badly he needed and wanted this kind of affection.

There is such a strong surge of pure joy, comfort, and love from the hug that it hurts him, because he realizes in that moment what he's been deprived of his entire life and existence. Edwin has existed for over a hundred years, and even though it's hard to believe, they've never hugged each other like this in the thirty years they've been together. I don't think I could ever confidently say that they never hugged, ever, in thirty years, especially given how physical Charles is with his affection.

But that expression on Edwin's face in undeniable.

George says earlier in video that Edwin "lacks the skill set to keep up" with all of the new emotions he's experiencing, and you can feel that in the way his face changes.

Edwin hugs him back, and lets out a big breath, relieved and satisfied by the embrace. The wave of emotions passes as he realizes that even if he overwhelmed and terrified by the love he's feeling, it feels good to hug Charles. He realizes that he wants to hug Charles, that he's allowed to want to hug Charles, and that he actually can hug Charles.

God, the amount of emotions Edwin has in that moment that he's completely unequipped for, simply because he's never experienced it, not even from the people closest to him in life. It's heartbreaking, but seeing him learning how it feels to be loved for the first time is so beautiful.

i was thinking my little thoughts while falling asleep last night, and a concept occurred to me: what if binghe learned about the system not from shen qingqiu, but from shang qinghua

look, he likes shang qinghua alright. he's pretty disinterested in p much anyone who isn't shen qingqiu, but on the list of People Luo Binghe Tolerates, shang qinghua is relatively high. he gave him advice on wooing sqq, after all, and sqq likes his company, so binghe tolerates his shang-shishu

but the thing is, shang qinghua is a spy. has been for decades. binghe knows this. really, everyone knows this at this point, which isn't a great look for a spy, but still. and since shang qinghua is a spy for mobei-jun, who is a subordinate for luo binghe, then technically shang qinghua is also working for him, but you don't get to the position of demon emperor without a healthy amount of suspicion for everyone in your court

so he decides to test shang qinghua a little bit. nothing major, just a little poking around in his dreams. he starts out with a subtle touch, just sifting through his memories. most of it is what he expected. he sees his time on an ding as a disciple and then later as peak lord, he sees him working for mobei-jun. he sees mobei-jun in some compromising situations, which he files away for later, and then sees him in an entirely different flavor of compromising situations, and binghe immediately decides to act like he never saw that

then he decides to take a more direct approach and starts nudging the dreams in other directions, to see how he might react to certain scenarios, test his loyalty. he expects shang qinghua to act cowardly, or bluff his way through a situaton, maybe even draw his sword if pushed far enough

what he doesn't expect is for shang qinghua to frown at the changes luo binghe made and go "I didn't write it like this"

what

binghe is so bewildered by that response that he loses his grip on the dream for a second, and before he knows it, shang qinghua has spun the dream scenario back into the way the scene originally played out. he steps back and looks satisfied. "there we go," he says. "that's how it went. you know, if I'd known I'd be dealing with this scene myself, I would've written it differently"

what the hell does that mean?

fascinated, luo binghe continues to test him. most of the time, when he toys with someone's dream, they're completely unaware of the changes. shang qinghua, despite not seeming aware that he's lucid dreaming, seems very aware of how each scene should go. except for, strangely, many of the scenes that binghe himself was in. binghe pulls up one from his disciple days, one of the times he remembered shang qinghua coming to qing jing on some errand. he hadn't even changed anything yet, had just let the dream version of his younger self launch himself at shizun in a tacklehug, but shang qinghua tsks and takes the reins from him before he can make any edits. "sorry bing-ge, but that was just way too out of character," shang qinghua says. the dream copy of luo binghe's younger self is sent further away, watching the peak lords with a sullen gaze. he's skinnier than binghe remembers being at this age, and one of his eyes is swollen with a purple bruise. that doesn't make any sense, luo binghe thinks. he hadn't been beaten on qing jing peak for years at this point.

the shen qingqiu beside shang qinghua in the dream stands with his back straight as a ruler, and when his gaze lands on luo binghe, he sneers behind his fan. shang qinghua sighs. "cucumber-bro really wasn't as good of an actor as he thought he was. he's way too soft to ever seem like the original goods."

alarmed, luo binghe dispels the dream and steps out of it entirely. sure, he knows shen qingqiu's personality changed almost overnight when he had that qi deviation. everyone knew that. he avoided questioning it much, unwilling to look a gift horse in the mouth when it meant having a shizun that cared for him

but shang qinghua. shang qinghua seems to know something more about shen qingqiu's personality change. something he's not sharing. luo binghe didn't like the idea that one of his subordinates could be hiding something as vital as this from him

well, this had been a test of his spy's loyalties, hadn't it? perhaps he should make a visit to an ding. he had some questions.

Hi. I'm very late to Webcomic Day. The concept this year was to nicely showcase what the progression of your work looks like through layers of completion on a single page, but because of the way I am, this is not very easy. The first thing I do is sketch the page. This can be anything between thumbnail scribbles, nice pencil drawings with panels, or a bunch of floating character headshots with speech bubbles on a random piece of paper. I then scan these and add them to the page document. I usually do digital tweaks to the scans until I am satisfied with the panel layout and composition. I add vector speech bubbles at this stage too. The goal is (was... it's done) to make the entire book comprehensibly readable, so editors can read it and suggest changes before I put in actual elbow grease. Second stage is modelling important background elements in Blender. I'm not very good at this, mostly because I am new to Blender and terribly impatient. My models are usually a vague sketch of a hardscape environment that I then draw clutter over. My vehicle models are much nicer and that's because they were commissioned from people who have years of learned skill that I don't. Third step is when I actually start the finished page. I usually draw the character lines and flats (unshaded tones) before anything else because I find it fun and easy. I don't recommend this, it sometimes makes the next step inconvenient. I frequently start flats or shading before I've finished lines, because I get bored of doing lines. I don't recommend this either. Last step is backgrounds, and etc. If I need a Blender model, first I load an .fbx copy into the Clip Studio file and position it; then I often have to resize and reposition the characters I've already drawn, and then I grind out all the background lines and tones. Usually shade the characters around this time. This is also the time when I finally fill in miscellaneous stuff I've been dreading; like conlangs, technical details of equipment and props, conlangs, time conversions, and computer screen displays. Then the page is done. And I move on to the next one. Someday, perhaps, I will be done with all of them (so that I can work on the next book). Hope this was insightful. Notes after watching the full Behind the Scenes of Agatha All Along posted on Nov 13th 2024:

There was no way they could have written an ending for Agatha that did not involve death.

I have been saying this to all the naysayers from the get-go, to all the people making posts about being done or fed up or angry about the ending, or how it makes no sense, or how they should have could have done something different and been fine story wise. The behind the scenes confirmed my point.

The main through line for the entire show was the theme of Death; of Agatha never being able to escape it. Where she both loves and hates death and Death, the concept and the woman. Where she's been running from Death for centuries, but Death came for her son and was always coming for her the second she slowed down.

Every completed trial meant someone would die. Billy created the road based off the rumors and witch lore. And the only rumors out in the witch world were that someone knew someone else's aunt/relative/friend who had undertaken the road and never returned. In reality, that was Agatha's doing. But to Billy, it meant that somehow, the Road took its toll on them. And when the coven traveled it, the Road exacted the same price that Billy expected it to. Death or near death at every trial.

The first trial killed Sharon. The second gave Alice her power back and then Billy almost died (and probably would have if Agatha hadn't pleaded with Rio on his behalf, if the coven hadn't worked together, and if Billy hadn't made the Road with his own powers. Some interesting combo of the all the above). The third trial killed Alice who was trying to save Agatha. And the fourth trial killed Lilia and the Salem Seven.

Jac said she intentionally wrote it where Death was a very real thing that everyone in the show had to come to terms with.

And for Jen Kale, her gift was already dead, and she was supposed to resurrect it and take her own power back. She escaped because after Agatha's trial, the fifth one, someone DID die.

And this time it was Agatha.

Agatha had avoided it every other time by either being saved, or having the rest of the coven as fodder for death.

But in the end, when she could have left once again, she must decide who has to pay the final price for her invention of the Road. The Road that she has used to kill and lure countless witches to their doom over the past few centuries.

She can save the boy she has come to love and mentor after the loss of her son. Or, she can leave once again. And so she makes the final moment of self sacrifice, and chooses the final victim of the Road: Herself

She has been running from Death for centuries.

For Agatha's story to have a thematic ending that wasn't cheap or manufactured, she had to stay true to that through-line. That's how writing works. You find your themes. You write about and explore them. And you have a final consequence that determines if it's a positive arc or a negative arc for your main character.

They chose for Agatha to have a positive arc. A moment of final growth. To end the show on her finally making the right decision, even at the cost of the life she's sustained through countless centuries and via countless deaths.

There was no way the show could have ended any other way.

PS: There is no excuse to hate on it. At all.

It doesn't meet any of the criteria for the 'Bury your gays' trope. It doesn't even end Agatha’s story. But it does provide expertly written, well thought out, thematically poignant endings for all the characters in a way that satisfies their personal journey—throughout the show and the centuries.

And I am so glad they made it, and that it ended how it did. I wouldn’t want it any other way. As a writer. As an editor. As a viewer. And as a lesbian.

Agatha All Along is a masterpiece in TV writing. And I can’t wait for more.

TLDR: Quit complaining and griping about the ending. It was written beautifully. The reason you got so invested is because of all the heavy death elements throughout that made things mean something. Embrace it. Or find media where you were the target audience. Cause if you couldn’t handle something well written that ends like this, you weren’t the target audience. And that’s okay. But move on before you keep griping and causing issues with the community and the cast.

You're my favorite Viago poster & it's my birday so I would love to get your thoughts on that lil datamined bit from Viago's vo notes where it says "he won't be happy until he sits on a throne" (or something like that), would love to get your thoughts on 1- how true that feels to you, 2- what Viago going after the throne could look like if he really decided to make that move, & 3- how the rest of the Crows (esp Teia & House Dellamorte too I guess) would realistically react. well if it’s your BIRTHDAY i suppose i have no choice but to viago post... i do this against my will...

okay. first of all the datamined files are vastly out of date information so i don’t consider it as dismantling canon to disagree with them as much as it would be dismissing canon to, like, express that canonically a certain piece of concept art did not happen. that being said, here it is: “Calm, ambitious, and ruthless, Viago is the bastard son of the late King of Antiva. As a high-ranking member of the Crows, Viago has just as much influence as the Monarchy, but he still resents the fact that he is not a legitimate heir and feels his birthright was stolen from him. Beneath his cool exterior is a lot of anger and frustration. He will not be satisfied until he sits upon a throne.” (you can already tell this is directly not canon because viago’s dad is still alive in veilguard lmao)

here’s what viago thinks about the subject in eight little talons: “Rising to the rank of Talon should’ve been enough. With a small army of assassins at his beck and call, Viago was more powerful than the king. But the harder he worked, the more resentful he became of his half-siblings, who knew nothing of ruling or tactics. The knowledge that, given the chance, he could restore strength to the Crown dogged him—leaving a hole that no contract or coin could fill.”

one thing we should say is that the entire system where bastards are put into the crows is to prevent them from entering the line of succession. it would shake up the whole of antiva and how things have worked for centuries to abandon all pretense and put a crow on the throne for real. but that’s small fry because viago is saying he would do even more than that. what viago is talking about here is not just taking the crown—it’s restoring the crown to STRENGTH. he is fairly explicitly not talking about a future in which “the crows rule antiva.” it’s really an incredibly, incredibly audacious, hubristic thing to think, and his confidence in it takes me aback every time. it’s not the idea that he could restore strength to the crown, or the thought that he could do that. the knowledge he could do it. viago you’re insane.

does he really want that, even if he could achieve it? would it really satisfy him? i don’t know. i know that viago’s underlying self-superior beliefs about his ‘birthright’ did probably hold him together at his worst, but are also the root of, like, all his worst instincts. i know that crowns almost always make people worse! i also know that he only thinks through the entire above spiel because he is distressed that teia immediately devastated him with one line, and that the very next paragraph after the spiel is him immediately getting distracted by wanting teia so bad it makes him look stupid (again). would teia take these risks with him, or, even if he won the throne, condescend to be a king’s mistress? between the throne and the woman he loves, which is likely to satisfy the empty void in his chest, if he can only have one or the other? are we likely to enjoy the kind of king we would end up with, if viago loses one of the like two to three humanising connections he has that make him not a complete tyrant? (said with love.)

on the other hand, it’s not as if, right now, viago is holding a normal job down with supreme mental health support and a long life expectancy, let’s be real. and let’s be clear: if restoring strength to the crown does really mean going up against the crows, god, i can’t say i don’t want to see it. i can’t say the thought of viago-josephine-zevran triumvirate finally taking the crows out of power has never crossed my mind, okay. i’m a predictable person with simple wants. but you had best believe caterina will fight to the death on that, and many other talons with her. teia—to whom the crows are a family, however much they fight—could be lost here, which is nigh unbearable.

i don’t think viago is actively, seriously planning doing any of this, to be clear. in eight little talons he’s just thinking he could do it “given the chance”, i.e. if he was one of his legitimate siblings. not, this is my end goal i’m actually working towards for real! but i knowww he’s thinking it. and god knows what fighting for and winning treviso did to his ego. if he and teia break up again we are so in danger 😭😭

(for sol, my dearest rook de riva, the reaction is mostly Extreme Distress because they do not actually care about the fate of the crown or whatever, they just want viago to stay alive. this is not the Safely Staying Alive route, actually, viago. i don’t think they would really grab that skinny man by the lapels and yell, “i don’t think before i act? I DON’T THINK BEFORE I ACT?” and then shake him until he makes a laminated paper wobble sound. but it’s a close call. emotionally, it’s where they’re at. also, god knows what their dellamorte boyfriend, currently at least nominally first talon, is going to feel obligated to do about this. real mess!)

First of all, THANK YOU for liking this au, I'm honestly SHOCKED that so many people like it already! These silly goofballs mean SO MUCH TO ME so it makes me really happy to hear your kind words! SECOND, THERE IS SO MUCH I WANT TO SHARE WITH PEOPLE!!! IF I HAD THE TIME I WOULD BE WRITING WHOLE NOVELS WORTH OF CONTENT! Alas! I will satisfy the need by answering the questions you've asked!

I say this with my whole entire heart that I REALLY DO LIKE RISE SPLINTER! LETS MAKE THAT VERY CLEAR! But this poor man was going through SO MUCH and that was BEFORE he even got mutated. There was so much grief towards his own life that I am NOT surprised by the kind of father he became towards these super intelligent, hyperactive little kiddos who needed so much of his time and energy and attention and care. There was SO MUCH standing in the way of him being a good parent, and I'm not using this as an excuse, but I understand why his depression was just too powerful and loud sometimes, and unfortunately, his babies being so young, couldn't/didn't know how to compete against it.

But then here comes 2k12 Mikey, 16 and freshly traumatized after having been ripped away from his own family and tossed into some strange dimension he has no business in, but who's also incredibly capable and clever and cheerful and kind! Who swept into his life and carved out a place for himself and who loved his boys from day one like a force of nature that never really quite got the hang of being told 'no' before.

He out-stubborned Splinter at every turn, because Splinter needed someone to affectionately kick his ass a little, and helped him not be so alone after his entire reality as he knew it shattered. There were STILL bad days, because grief and depression don't just go away, and 2K12 Mikey was still pretty much primary caretaker, but he helped just by BEING there. By making sure Splinter got up every once and awhile, and showered, and ate, and helped with bathtime and read stories for the boys so 2k12 Mikey could run errands really fast. And it helped to have someone competent and catty and nice to talk to, and it forced Splinter to reevaluate some things, because this is a 16-year-old, freshly orphaned kid who is HELPING HIM take care of his own kids, and it forces Splinter to carve his way out of his own mental fog and be PRESENT because DAMN, he can't let this kid take care of HIM TOO ON TOP OF EVERYTHING ELSE.

The Discreet Gentleman's Connection by pluto (gayrights420) [Drarry, E, 80.4k] 🌼🔥 I had the absolute pleasure of beta-ing for this fic, so when I say it is amazing, it truly is just that. Fast burn on the smut via Floo sex, slow burn on the in-person falling in love. Satisfying in all the best possible ways.

2. A fic that made me laugh

AITA for being "obsessed" with my childhood nemesis? by @rainstormradish [Drarry, M, 4.3k] 🌼📲 Draco on a reddit forum is hilarious just on its own, but the banter and formatting really bring this fic to life. Amazingly creative, had me in stitches!

3. A comfort fic

Keep in mind these are my very off-the-top-of-my-head, surface level impressions of them after having recently beaten the game on story mode once, while streaming. I won’t be giving any deep analysis or anything lol so the tone will be pretty jokey and unserious.

MAJOR major Nine Sols spoilers under the cut. Please do not read if you haven’t finished the game.

Kuafu: second favorite character. I love him so much. He’s such a pal, everybody likes him. Hou Yi left him as the final sun standing after shooting down the other nine cuz he’s just a stand up guy. The fact that he’s the one who pled keep Abacus around and set his settings to High Sympathy and kept coming in to talk to him out of guilt over what happened to Yi kills me. Smart, silly, handsome, the last remaining Solarian in existence and he can never go home for the remainder of his life. He’s my ride or die bestie, he’s one of my several husbands who babysit my little brother while I go off on a revenge murder spree and I’m kissing him on the mouth.

Goumang: I like her design and concepts and think she’s a fun character. She was the first boss I fought and i thought she was pretty fun, though I didn’t find the fight as memorable as others. I wish she had more presence throughout the game, I heard from a friend she had some more stuff that was cut apparently? Curious about her rivalry with Yi and relationship with Eigong. And since Yi technically never killled her I’ve considered including her in the Dont Worry About It AU.

Yanlao: Grampa!! I think he and Yi’s back and forth throughout the warehouse area was pretty funny. I was so ready to kick his ass the entire time, especially after the segment where he’s shooting at you as you navigate a maze. Loved his bossfight, first fight of the first three i started with where I really felt the parry/dodge/attack rhythm for the first time. Rip gramps.

Jiequan: BASTARD!! (Half-affectionate but only half) he’s giving Fruity Disney Villain Who Flirts With You As He Stabs You In The Chest. He sucks <3 but he’s such a FUN character, what a great antagonist. His fake out fight is so intense, the prison scene is so intense, his boss fight kicked my ass and his theme goes hard. He’s a war criminal, he’s a freak, he looks like All Might MHA and he regularly irradiates himself as part of his body building routine. “Heroes are forged in agony!” 10/10 Disney villain, very stylish. Defeating him was so satisfying especially after the Kanghui fight in the prison and learning what happened with THAT horror show.

Lady Ethereal: I LOVE HER!! SO MUCH!!! UGH!!! she makes me so sad! But everything about her is SO cool! Her fate! Her backstory!! Her design! Her boss fight! Her entire platforming area!!! Just!!! Aah! I won’t say too much but it’s just so good she had my favorite fight in the game, the dance for that one is so much fun. I was streaming the game on discord for my partner and another friend and when we first went into the cortex, she was like “oh you should keep going left and see what’s over there ;)” and then I did and just!!! So cool that Red Candle started off making horror games, it’s really great. Love it. Awesome character, awesome boss, awesome theme.

Fuxi and Nuwa: Rich asshole twins!! These two suck lol but I do think they’re fun characters. The entire empyrean district is experiencing a resident evil style zombie infection and Nuwa is throwing a rager at the club for the rich cryosleepers only. It’s really eerie over there though, I love the vibe of the east side and the discovery of the mutants and destruction of the west half is spooky as hell. And then I got to the area where you get Fuxi’s sol seal and didn’t even notice he was sitting there until my partner pointed him out. I thought he was furniture lol. She’s really puppeting around her brother’s pustule-riddled zombie corpse Weekend at Bernie’s style cuz she’s that much in denial. Also absolutely horrifying that the district supposedly once held 100,000 sleeping solarians that is whittled down to 300 after the mutated virus wreaks havoc through the area. Personally, I’m mixed on their bossfight, the first half with just Fuxi was fun once I got the rhythm but the 2nd half when Nuwa comes in with her attacks gets a bit too chaotic for me. Their boss theme, however, is probably my favorite in the game. I love the opera samples, it’s so cool.

Ji: I think about them a lot. Like, wow what a guy. I think a lot about his immortality, and that if he had not left Penglai with the council he would have been stuck there, alone for eternity. I think about the fact that because they will never get Tianhuo, there would be no need for them to be in cryosleep, which probably means that in the 502 years that Yi was recovering, he was probably up and about the entire time, probably wandering around new Kunlun mostly alone. I wonder if they ever hung out with the dusk guardians, or if they just stayed in the grotto for the most part. Their boss fight felt the most like a dance to me, or like friends sparring. Do you think they thought of Lear as you attacked them with the moves he taught you in the spiritual realm? He makes me sad, but he is very stylish!

Eigong: FUCK HER! SHES SO COOL, BUT FUCK HER!!! EVIL GRANDMA! this games story is like peeling back an onion of horrors where each layer you peel back brings new, mortifying understanding of the situation at large until it ALL. COMES BACK. TO HER! AND HER FRUITLESS PURSUIT OF IMMORTALITY! Her boss fight KICKED MY ASS. I was streaming my first playthrough, so I was already prone to doing worse than I probably would without an audience (emphasis on probably) but in my first attempt I was fighting her for like 6 HOURS STRAIGHT. And for the true ending too, which meant three boss phases. I just could not get her pattern down and my hands were cramping but i really wanted to finish the game that weekend so I could finally talk about it so I ended up turning up the accessibility options to one punch man her. I did eventually go back and do her fight by myself with the story mode settings and MAN what a fun boss battle once you get the dance down (I’m still so bad at unbound counter), and it is SO satisfying to beat. Incredible character, we love fictional old women who commit atrocities in the name of science.

Yi: and finally we have the man, the myth, the legend. I could probably write a whole separate post about him and Heng and his relationships with the other characters but to keep it short- I LOVE HIM SO MUCH! BUT IM ALSO BITING HIM AND PUTTING HIM IN A BLENDER AND RUNNING HIM THROUGH THE DISHWASHER AND HANGING HIM UP TO DRY. Just UGH! It’s not common for the main character of a thing to be my favorite character but Yi is my favorite character. It’s the fact that he is his own character, and we, the player, must gradually find out things that HE already knows. And his budding and flowering relationships with the other characters, especially those who set up shop in the pavillion which leads into his character development is just AUGH. AND THE ENDINGS. YOU ALREADY KNOW HOW I FEEL ABOUT GHE ENDINGS. THEYRE GOOD BUT AUGH. I love him, I’m rotating him in my mind on a skewer, he’s my little manlet, my poor little “I’m not a good person” shadow the hedgehog energy meow meow cat boy. I love him so much, I’m so distraught over his terrible life choices. Incredible character.

Hmmmm. Having so many more thoughts about "Damian's stories are about what Batman can do for Robin, while Tim's stories are about what Robin can do for Batman" as a concept.

And look this is partly me simplifying things way way down. Because ofc there are stories for both of them in the other direction, and I can name a bunch of them off the top of my head. But I'm looking at overarching themes.

Because!!! I think part of the divide in whether people feel particularly close to Damian's stories or particularly close to Tim's comes down to their identification over which fantasy and story they want to overlay the concept of Batman and Robin with. Do they want a fantasy about the strength and change a child can bring even to the adults around them? Do they want a fantasy about how a child can grow and be forgiven by adults for everything, even the dark parts of themself they hate?

"Can I fix others" vs "can others fix me" are both deep concepts people identify with, whether or not either impulse is a healthy one.

For instance. I will fully tell you that part of my problem with Dick and Damian as Batman & Robin, apart from the amount of it being written by Morrison, is that in the stories I have read, I see very few that give me a satisfying answer to 'what benefit is Dick getting out of this relationship', and as someone who helped coparent her own much younger sibling to the point my mother rewrote her will during that period to request that I got custody of my brother, not my father, should anything happen, reading a narrative where I'm supposed to celebrate Dick's sacrifices in taking on Damian is one where I want this situation to be rewarding for DICK. Because I know the suckitude of the situation where everyone is telling you how noble you are for making this sacrifice, and I know the joys you find in it, but by god is it hard and it is work that you can find yourself resenting and it is something where I see myself in Dick and I want a fantasy telling me that this was all worth it and the narrative is entirely uninterested in giving that to me.

Back To Basics: Conscious Manifestation

A wild epiphany dawned upon me the other night, and it opened my eyes to a whole new perspective as a conscious manifestor..

It made me realize a very important truth that we as a community need to turn ourselves back to the basics of understanding conscious manifestation. We must remind ourselves the true meaning of manifesting and what it truly means to be a conscious manifestor.

~ Part I: Basics of Conscious Manifesting ~

I have noticed that too many people in this community have completely forgotten what it means to live your life as a conscious manifestor.

When you (as a manifestor) make the decision to consciously manifest a certain desire of yours, there's not any shred of physical evidence in front of you. This is why the whole entire concept is called "manifesting" in the first place.

As a conscious manifestor, you simply manifest for the chosen desire to materialize in your physical reality. The term manifestation means "-to turn something from an idea into a reality."

When you manifest a desire, you are conjuring your ideal entirely from within. It always comes from *within.* Never without.

When you manifest, you are only conjuring your manifestation from your inner mind, and then it becomes inevitable for your intended manifestation to appear in your "external world."

Even though your desire manifests in your physical reality, you first had to conjure the creation *from the inside* to bring about your desired changes.

Manifesting is entirely about your inner state of mind.

Your primary focus should always be your inner state of mind, forget about the evidence of your senses in front of you. All that matters is your own perception of yourself as a conscious manifestor.

Instead of turning to search outside of yourself and fixating on your circumstances, *you must satisfy your hunger for your desire from within.* The impatient hunger for your desire has to completely die.

Walk by faith in yourself as a manifestor and accept the fact that your desire is already an accomplished fact.

*It all comes from within.*

~ Part II: As Within, So Without ~

Your only opponent in the game of conscious manifestation is *your own mind.*

Have you ever heard of the phrase, "as within, so without?" That is our nature of manifestation at work. You can never ever manifest anything from outside of you. In fact, there is absolutely nothing outside of you. You are the operant power of your reality.

Everything you see in your reality *comes from within*. It all started from within your inner state of mind and became your experience in the flesh. You are the creator and you always have complete control of your entire reality. To be a conscious manifestor means to be aware of your own power and your true identity as the creator of your experiences. Conscious manifesting means to leave victimhood behind and completely take charge of your experiences from the perception of your true self-awareness.

Conscious manifestation is all about manifesting whatever you desire *from within* without having *any* evidence on the outside. Too many people seem to lose sight of this important understanding.

Since you are the creator and the ultimate master of your own reality, you are living your life from the confident disposition of rewriting your story and deciding your experiences before they can play out in front of your eyes.

You are the author of your story and you are determining your ideals before they physically happen. This is how it truly goes and this is what you must understand in order to master conscious manifestation as a deliberate manifestor.

Let's turn to witchcraft as an example for a moment. When witches perform a spell, is there any proof of their manifestation in front of them whatsoever during the process of performing their spell work? Absolutely not. That is why they perform the spell in the first place.

Another question to ask yourself: What are witches doing when they perform a spell? The witches are in the midst of *consciously manifesting* their desire. They are commanding for a certain change to manifest in their reality. After the spell work is complete, their manifestation still hasn't shown up in front of them, but in their inner state of mind: they remain confident and unmoved in their faith.

Now really think to yourself for a moment here.

Do these witches spiral and fall apart?

Do they doubt themselves?

Do they throw a fit about the circumstances happening in front of them?

Why would they ever need to worry? Witches are strongly aware of their power and they already know how the story is going to end. Their desires have already been declared and they confidently expect for their manifestations to arrive.

Are witches ever searching for results of their manifestation outside of themselves? Oh, hell no. Do you honestly think these witches give the slightest care about how the physical state of their reality ever looks? They don't care at all. Their faith in themselves are stronger.

Witches are so confident in themselves as conscious manifestors that instead they laugh in the face of their circumstances. They recognize that their manifestation is inevitable. It is a done deal and they believe in their own power. Nothing can shake them.

Witches are aware of their own power as badass manifestors, and they truly believe in themselves. They are natural masters of conscious manifestation and their own craft. So, what kind of attitude do witches hold when their spellwork is complete? They remain completely confident in their own abilities, and they know the desire is already fulfilled. *it is done*.

Your inner state of mind is the priority, and it's all that matters since you are the creator. You are the author writing your own story.

In order to successfully manifest anything you want with ease, you simply view your world from the self-confident perspective of accepting the fact that your desire is now already fulfilled and you persist in that confident attitude of accomplishment. Your manifestation is inevitable to come to fruition.

Manifestation always *comes from within*. This is meant to be easy and you were never meant to struggle.

You are able to easily accept your desire as a done deal when you truly understand that you are the master of your reality, and the creation is finished. You will know this to be true without a doubt from your own experiences of practicing your ability to manifest.

Your only job as a manifestor is to stay strong in your faith and persist from the perspective of understanding that you have already achieved your desire. Your desire will manifest.

Persisting from the mindset of the wish fulfilled comes easily, and it becomes an enjoyment when you truly realize that you are the one in control. You are the one with the power.

You are one with your desires as the creator of your reality.

This is how conscious manifestation truly works. Too many of you are approaching the concept of manifestation completely backward, and your perspective needs to change for the sake of your success.

Do you want this to be easy? or do you want to keep struggling?

You must take a step back and understand that the manifestation game is never about trying to change "the outside." It's all about understanding who you truly are.

Conscious manifestation has nothing to do with trying to manipulate the whole world in your favor.

It's about realizing that *you are reality.*

As the operant power, you hold the ultimate authority to decide what you will experience. You simply give yourself whatever you desire *from within* and enjoy relishing in the fact that it is done.

You are meant to satisfy the impatient, incessant hunger for the desire by simply recognizing that whatever you want is already yours because you are the creator. There's nothing more to do.

Too many of you are so focused and fixated on the physical aspects of conscious manifestation when you are skipping the most important step to bring your manifestation into your reality. Accepting your desire as a done deal *from within.*

Why does physical aspects matter when you are the only one in control and missing the whole point of manifestation? The only thing that truly matters is solely your faith and belief in yourself as the operant power. Nothing else matters.

The manifestations reveal themselves in your reality when understand this: there is only changing *yourself.* You no longer feel the need to try to change the world when you stumble upon the realization that you and your "external reality" are one. There is only yourself to change.

Change your perception of yourself as a manifestor and this game becomes utterly easy.

~ Part III: Manifestor's Mindset~

You need to understand that you cannot come to the table of conscious manifestation with victim mentality. It's all a matter of mindset in this game, and the only way to be successful with ease will always be changing your mindset. There is no other way around that. You cannot escape from the inevitable.

You either believe that you are a helpless victim in your world or the operant power with complete control over everything in your reality.

Do you want to truly take control of your own life and manifest absolutely anything you desire? Completely drop the "woe-is-me" victim mentality and realize your own power. You are an incredible creator with limitless power. Don't you realize that?

If you want success in the conscious manifestation game, you must step up and embrace the incredible, infinite power you are. Embrace it with confidence because only you have the power to change your own life. Nobody else can do it for you. In your reality, you are the only one in complete control of every single aspect. You are the CEO.

This is all about believing in yourself and living confident in your abilities to manifest anything you desire for yourself once you finally realize that you are the only one in control.

Your confidence in yourself as a manifestor is all you need for easy success and this all lies in your conception of yourself.

You must wake up from the grave of the victim mentality and realize this important truth. You need to cultivate some serious confidence and faith not only in yourself but also in your own abilities.

Change your perception of yourself and walk by faith in your power. You are all that you need.

Summary: Your neighbor Noah wakes you up every morning. And this morning seems to be no exception.

Mornings in your town started differently for everyone. Some people got up with the first birdsong of their own free will, others were forced to do so, and still others were greeted by a real earthquake with every sunrise. Or a hurricane trapped in a human body.

'Get up!' your ear has been mercilessly terrorized since the morning. 'Do you really want me to do this?'

You tried to jump up and prevent the inevitable, but it was too late... Noah jumped into your bed in one jerk. Which, in fact, was a single bed.

'Noah...' You stirred sleepily as your neighbor began to jump on the mattress very diligently. So much so that you could only dream about sleep.

'It's not my fault!' He leaned over you and laughed right into your ear. Still rocking the bed.

'Uh-oh... Just a minute more...'

Your brain was working in the morning... In fact, in the morning it refused to function at all, and your whole being had only one single goal at this time of day - to sleep a little more. However, Noah was absolutely not satisfied with this arrangement. How could you exchange your joint plans to go to the lake for some insignificant nap?

'Don't make me...'

A moment after these words, and Noah purposefully fell on you. Literally. You sank under his weight, tangled in a pile of blankets.

'What, you want to get up now?' He said sarcastically, kept grinning from ear to ear, even as he slid his arms under you, hugging you tightly. Although, in fact, it was all just a cleverly planned trap. 'You had to think before!'

After a few more (completely futile) attempts to get out from under Noah, you had to surrender to the victor. But with a sincere smile. After all, no matter how annoyed, angry, tired, and all at the same time, you couldn't help but smile when you looked at Noah's cheerful face. So close to your own.

His warm breath tickled your ear, his arms were still frozen under your back, holding you in place, and his legs somehow managed to intertwine with yours. And you could not do anything about it. You didn't even want to.

You closed your eyes in the hope that you could get a few more seconds of peaceful rest while Noah seemed to have dropped his guard. But, of course, that was too much of a luxury.

'Ha!' Noah reacted the moment your eyelids closed. He shook his hands, causing the entire bed to jump, and loomed over you with a wide, smug smile. All you could do was sigh in disappointment. 'Thought you could get away with it, huh?'

And then he began his favorite part of the morning. Noah put his head in the crook of your shoulder and began to wiggle his nose, tickling you terribly! You couldn't stop laughing, completely forgetting even about the possibility of sleep. Especially when his grown strands of hair fell on your neck, unbearably tickling.

After a while, you finally got up, with tears of laughter in your eyes and a smile on your face. Later on, Noah would have a whole lecture about respecting private space and understanding the concept of a sleep schedule, but for now, he could enjoy your cheerful appearance and laugh together. Just like every morning.

Baizhu ✧ Animal

✧ Would you still love me if I turned into an animal? This was definitely not the question he expected to hear on a calm and beautiful evening. This amused him immensely. You, however, didn't seem happy with his laugh, so he would ask you what kind of animal exactly, to which you had no answer.

✧ He's not a vet but he's a doctor. First of all, he would promise you that he would try to cure you with all means possible. He would travel across the world to find some kind of treatment.

✧ You pushed him further. What if such a drug did not exist? Well... He has experience with Changsheng. The snake, of course, loudly protested that it was not the same but no matter how you look at it, Baizhu also had to feed him something and take care of him (Changsheng said that it was completely the opposite way and that he was his guardian...).

✧ You weren't entirely satisfied with the answer, so Baizhu took you out the next day to console you.

Wriothesley ✧ Worm

✧ Would you still love me if I was a worm? Wriothesley is prepared for anything. I mean literally everything! Even for his other half's philosophical questions. It's not like he heard about this trend from someone in the Fortress and thought that you'd definitely want to take part in it soon, so he thought of everything in advance... He immediately replied that yes, he would still love you.

✧ When you asked what it would look like, he said he would prepare a miniature room for you in his office. There are a lot of different pieces of machinery lying around the Fortress, I'm sure he could make a nice set of metal furniture out of it.

✧ He could carry you around with him in a special pocket in his uniform. He wouldn't let anyone crush you. He would even make special warning signs in places you would frequently be. Everyone would adjust to them because, as we know, Fortress of Meropide has a lot of people obeying him and their sentences would certainly be extended to stay there for their whole lifes if they didn't.

✧ When you asked if he would like to change you, he said that no, just to see your reaction. He wanted to tease you but don't be angry with him, he loves you very much.

Nahida ✧ Fungus

✧ Would you still like me if I were Fungus? This question did not raise a trace of surprise from the archon. To her, it sounds like any other. After all, it is not for nothing that she patronizes wisdom. She has to consider many concepts. Nahida would think for a moment with a finger pressed to her cheek. And then she would say yes, of course. She would also list every possibility.

✧ First, she would try to communicate with you. She can connect with living things, so why not with you? If you didn't like your condition, she would want to change it. By any means available. You can be sure that the students at the Akademiya would be wondering about your condition. Someone would eventually come up with some cure... or not.

✧ If your new form suited you, she would leave you in the forests of Sumeru in a safe place. She strongly believes that Fungus would be a different form that should be treated accordingly and would like to befriend you with other shrooms so you can settle in.

Nilou ✧ Slime

✧ Would I still be your best friend if I was a slime? Of course you would, she said, grabbing your hands to emphasize the importance of her words. She didn't even have to wonder.

✧ She just hopes you wouldn't be a pyro slime, because she'd have to be very careful with her hydro vision. She wouldn't want to hurt you. Apart from this fact, Teyvat's laws are thrown out the window! She didn't think about anything that made sense or was logical.

✧ In her mind, it looks like she's taking care of the absolute cutie patootie, which is you as a slime. Her friend would still go shopping with her, spend all day together and perform on stage. Now you could create a one-of-a-kind performance or, preferably, a whole spectacle. Did she leave out the fact that you probably wouldn't be able to understand her? Of course but it didn't occur to her because she was too excited.

✧ You have to forgive her, over the next week she will come back to this question at various times and tell you how cute it would be if, in the form of slime you would... Ate cake with her, danced with her, wore a tiny dress? Finish it yourself, there are many options.
