The stark white canvas stared back at them tauntingly, a small yellow post-it note was stuck loosely to the table beside them. Y/N had jotted down the prompt given earlier in class on it: 'use ink in project'. Short and simple and to the point, not that that served to provide any inspiration now.

It was at that moment that their boyfriend, Carlos DeVile, entered the art room. In all honesty he had been looking for Mal, needing to pass on a message that Ben had given him. He didn't mind not finding her, in fact he was pleased to have found Y/N instead. Y/N too was pleased at his arrival, happily welcoming the company. Carlos's arrival had provided Y/N with some much needed inspiration, more specifically: his multi-coloured hair, the splattering of black in amongst soft white locks. Ink blots on a page or spots in a dalmatian's fur.

That was it! That was they would paint; a patch of snowy white fur using deep black ink to create spots and patches. It would take time and would probably beat them round the ass when it came to shading, but it was something and they would make it work.

It had been a day and a bit since Y/N's inspiration had dawned on them and they'd been making good progress. Carlos had stayed and watched for a bit before remembering why he was there in the first place and the message for Mal.

Now, though, the couple sat together deliberately. Finally it had come to the point when the painting part was finished and dried and all that was left was to add the ink. An inkwell full of deep black ink sat on the table in front of Carlos, who held onto it with a firm grip to make sure that there would be no risk of spillages, whether over the table or yourselves.

Y/N was using a calligraphy brush to draw with the ink; it kept the line neat and smooth as they used it carefully. Just as Y/N was moving the brush back to canvas after going for a re-dip a small drop fell from the tip and landed on the sleeve of Carlos's red, woollen sweater. As soon as they noticed the ink dropping, Y/N flipped the brush in their hand and began to apologise profusely to Carlos. Carlos didn't mind, sure it was annoying but clothes could be washed and he was used to way dirtier clothes back on the Isle anyway.

But as the two focused on his sweater sleeve, neither noticed ink began running down the brush Y/N's hand, slowly making its way down to their fingers. Not until Y/N felt it dripping down their skin. Now looking to their fingers they gave a short laugh, quickly putting the pen down in the inkwell, they quickly grabbed for some paper towels that they'd left to their side incase of this exact situation. But, of course, the ink didn't wipe away cleanly, leaving a large streak across their hand.

Finally the project was completed, left to sit on a windowsill to dry. Y/N absentmindedly drew shapes onto the table with their finger as they talked about this, that and the other to Carlos. As they were talking, Carlos picked up the fine brush from the ink pot and began drawing patterns on the back of his partner's hands. Y/N quickly noticed what he was doing, feeling the brustles drag across their skin, but they made no effort to stop his actions, continuing on as if nothing was happening.

At some point the roles reversed and it became Y/N that was drawing on their lovers hand: softly painting out the bones of his left hand.

It didn't take long until both of them had each of their hands covered in an array of doodles and were laughing away like idiots. Idiots in love.

The Essential USWNT Friendship Series: Kelley and Sonnett

Who you are: a person who has stumbled across this post because you are gay, and/or someone who wants to get into the women's world cup and the USWNT but whose fandom experience requires knowledge of the Narratives And Friendships

What this isn’t: an endorsement of being weird to players in public spaces (in real life or comment sections, or on unlocked Twitter accounts)

What this is: a (hopefully) comprehensive collection and explanation of the (public!) friendship between two fan-favorite members of the 2023 WC squad

I know I’m missing stuff and it’s likely I’ll come back to add to this! Every time I try to add anything to this post the draft editor throws me an error message so consider this a part one. Please note this is a sideblog 🫶🏼

EMILY SONNETT

29 (as of the beginning of the  2023 Women’s World Cup)

Born in Virginia, but raised in the northern suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia 

Attended the University of Virginia, graduated with a degree in Sociology 

Was originally a midfielder, later converted to defense. Primarily plays centerback, but can play fullback on either side, and defensive mid

KELLEY O’HARA

34 (as of the beginning of the  2023 Women’s World Cup)

Born and raised in the southern suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia

Attended Stanford University, graduated with a degree in science, technology and society with a focus in environmental engineering

Was originally a forward (and in fact won the Hermann Trophy as college soccer’s top player, as a forward) but converted to play fullback on either side 

She is a Leo (I told you it was important. Twin fire signs 🔥)

THE BASICS

Sonnett’s first cap was against Brazil on October 25, 2015–she started and played all 90 minutes as a centerback (beside Becky). Kelley was on the bench. 

On Feb 15, 2016 they played together for the first time! They both started against Puerto Rico and Kelley scored!

Kelley was a good mentor to Sonny immediately, her little Georgia peach padawan

They didn’t appear to really get close until winter 2016-2017, when they trained together in Atlanta during the offseason and started to hang out in a smaller group and one on one 

Eventually they played on the same team (Washington Spirit in the 2021 and 2022 seasons) and won a championship together! (2021)

It was Kelley's first NWSL playoff run and her first championship, but Sonny's second championship (she won with the Thorns a few years before)

Kelley scored the game-winner in the championship final, in overtime, as a header. She does not typically score, much less with her head (she is like 5'4'' on a good day). It was insane.

Once they were friends they were BEST FRIENDS. Kelley loves to annoy Sonnett and has since day one. Couples massage!!, training together with Moe Brian

The 2019 World Cup parade was deeply chaotic: please beer and god they drank nonstop idk how they survived, they also napped on the plane back from france with pinoe and ashlyn

they help each other out: cold towel, guest coach kelley,

They threw out the first pitch for the Braves after the World Cup (with Mal, whose husband Dansby played for the Braves at the time)

They also made an appearance at an Atlanta United game together

They were chaotic in every team picture, X,

they took on the Tokyo olympics together (feat many teammates)

THE SPIRITS

Ho deciso di riproporre un post per ringraziare i blog che seguo e per dire loro quanto sono speciali e quanto, ognuno in modo diverso abbia arricchito il mio 2022:

@animatralefiamme: la tua impronta artistica e culturale mi ha permesso di comprendere quanto,sebbene non studi poi storia dell'arte da diversi anni, l'arte sia ancora una materia che mi piace ed affascina e mi hai permesso di scoprire anche alcune opere che non conoscevo approfittando dei tuoi post. Lo stesso per l'aspetto più letterario e culturale dei tuoi post.

Hai arricchito la mia cultura personale e per questo ti ringrazio per la cura che poni nel tuo blog.

@abbicuradirisplendere : la raffinatezza e l'eleganza che il tuo blog sprigiona permette di apprezzare grazie alla semplicità dei piccoli dettagli ogni sfumatura di ciò che ti piace e che impreziosisce il tuo piccolo spazio; ti ringrazio perché con i tuoi contenuti mi ricordavi ancor più il valore delle piccole cose e la bellezza della semplicità.

@akindofartist:le diverse gradazione di colori ed emozioni dei tuoi reblog e post mi hanno permesso di trovare molti post, come avrai potuto notare tu stessa, di mio gusto in quanto rispecchiavano cosa mi piaceva o mi piace e al contempo uno stato d'animo di quel momento oppure un desiderio più o meno profondo e recondito, ti ringrazio quindi per tutte le sfumature che riesci ad inserire nel tuo spazietto e per consentirmi di trovare attraverso foto o frasi modi di esprimermi.

@al-sapore-di-sigarette: hai un blog molto personale, che racconta parti della tua storia personale attraverso la narrazione diretta di episodi o stati d'animo legati alla tua sfera personale, ma anche attraverso l'utilizzo di citazioni di libri, che ammetto non conoscessi, ma che più di una volta mi hanno incuriosita. Inoltre in alcune parole che hai postato mi sentivo capita in certe situazioni, per questo motivo ti ringrazio per aver messo per iscritto alcuni pensieri che io non avevo avuto forse il coraggio di esternare ed anche per avermi avvicinata a libri interessanti e per nulla banali. @amarocaffe : raffinato,classico ed elegante, il tuo blog ti rispecchia perché ho avuto modo di conoscerti un po' e tu sei così, nel tuo minimalismo, non scontato mal selettivo, sai usare bene l'arte oratoria e le tue parole non sono mai poste a caso. Sei una persona matura e che sa cosa vuole e per questo lavora sodo, sei ironica e intelligente. Mi fa piacere che abbiamo iniziato a parlare e quindi ti ringrazio per la possibilità che mi dai di conoscerti.

@blog-ragazza-invisibile : hai nel tuo spazio una bella varietà di contenuti e tipologie degli stessi, ritrovandomi spesso in ciò che posti lo ricondivido perché o mi piace il contenuto in sé oppure trovo in modi diversi pezzettini di me o di ciò che penso in quel momento e quindi non ho bisogno di spiegare, quindi ti ringrazio per i bei contenuti e anche per quelli che ho trovato a me più affini.

@dalprofondodellanima : Hai una bellissima tecnica di scrittura, già lo dissi, perciò applicarmi e immergermi nella lettura dei tuoi post è stimolante e mi ha permesso di riflettere e comprendere alcuni aspetti del tuo pensiero ed anche del mio per questo ti dico grazie.

@elestellequantesono : spesso sono entrata in risonanza con parti o con interi tuoi post, un po' per la bella forma in cui scrivi ed un po' per la storia contenuta in essi. Hai permesso che leggendolo potessi sia capire un po' di te che capire un po' di più si me stessa e anche di risolvere alcune diatribe e far pace con alcune situazioni, grazie.

@fabrissio4: Fabri sei sempre stato presente nonostante la grande mole di lavoro e sei sempre stato pronto ad una parola gentile o di conforto, grazie per la bella persona che sei e che si intravede nel tuo blog, non aver paura di mostrarti per come sei e sorridi. Ogni tanto riposati ok?

@frammenti--di--cuore: il tuo blog rispecchia ciò che sei anche nella tua vita quotidiana, sono abbastanza convinta di questo.

Abbiamo entrambe avuto un'esperienza non bella che spero per entrambe non si riprenderà mai più perché siamo state più forti e abbiamo saputo feci fronte; mi rivedo nelle parole che usi in alcuni post tant'è che spesso le riposto o comunque lascio un like perché mi sento compresa, quindi di ringrazio per il tatto delle tue parole e per capirmi senza conoscermi.

@frangettaa : il tuo blog mi trasmette sensazioni positive, good vibes insomma, perché si percepisce che sei una persona solare, che apprezza ciò che ha e sa come valorizzarlo, non ti abbatti e hai sempre il sorriso, quindi ti ringrazio per questa ventata che hai saputo trasmettere e che porti nel tuo blog.

@hope-now-and-live : Teresa ho avuto la fortuna sia di seguire il tuo blog, con i suoi numerosi e diversi contenuti sempre significativi, che personali e sai che mi piacciono le tue foto per la luce che infondono come la fotografa che vi sta dietro. Ho potuto vedere anche la bella ragazza che sei non solo esteticamente perché sei super carina, ma anche per la tua saggezza ed il tuo modo di esserci, ho avuto modo di ascoltarti ed anche di venire ascoltata da te e questo non ha prezzo perché la reciprocità è una qualità rara ormai, quindi grazie per le tue parole ed il tuo tempo.

@itsmyecho : la profondità, la maturità, la purezza dei post, delle frasi e delle citazioni, l'accuratezza nella scelta si cosa e quando pubblicarla, il tramsetrere dei messaggi e dei consigli ai vostri lettori senza mai imporre loro niente è una caratteristica che apprezzo e stimo in quanto a mia volta lettrice dei vostri contenuti, grazie per il vostro impegno.

@imponderabile : il tuo blog, per quanto mi concerne, trasuda dolcezza e spontaneità per questo apprezzo il suo contenuto e trovo piacevole sia guardarlo che comprenderlo e a volte anche condividerlo per permettere non solo a me di averlo, ma anche che altri possano avere interesse per il tuo blog,grazie per i tuoi post.

@lettersandpostards : apprezzo sempre i tuoi post perché sono pensato e seguono un loro criterio che non solo è piacevole alla vista, esteticamente parlando, ma ha senso proprio per come viene pensato. Conversare con te è piacevole e sei un ragazzo gentile, qualità che apprezzo molto, perciò ti ringrazio soprattutto per la tua gentilezza.

@littlespotsofmylife: mi piacciono i tuoi post e si percepisce che ti piaccia lo spagnolo o forse anche la cultura spagnola non saprei dirlo con esattezza non conoscendoti, però ho potuto apprezzare anche questa lingua per mezzo delle frasi o dei post che inserisci nel tuo blog, è piacevole imparare cose nuove quindi ti ringrazio.

not strictly yuri? question mark? <- only four chapters have been translated and while there are definitely some yurious overtones, there's nothing really outright and its not tagged on AniList or MAL or Mangadex as GL. i have my hopes. manifesting.

blood & murder <- murder is a major plot point. violence isn't freuquently actually shown, but is talked about and implied a lot. multiple cases of head trauma in which you see blood, but no detailed injury.

emotional abuse <- from a mother. sayo's mother is always denigrating her piano playing, to a degree that sayo might want to run away, and fantasises about killing her.

HEADS UP: as already mentioned, only four chapters of the three volumes that have been released at time of writing have been translated, so take the content warnings with a grain of salt. i've flicked through the raws up til ch15 and from what i can tell, this is pretty much accurate up til there.

On the eve of Bischofshofen and in (not so loving) memory of that time when the athletes and us had to suffer through 4 competitions in B'Hofen in 5 days (remember that?), I'm giving you... some fanfiction. This was written in 2022, I only just found it again. Sorry it's in German, sometimes I write in English as well but this one came to me in German only)

Bye Bischofshofen

Karl zieht die Kabinentür auf und betritt den kleinen Raum. Schnell ins Warme, einen kurzen Moment Verschnaufen vor dem zweiten Durchgang. Andi und Constantin sitzen auf einer der Bänke und unterhalten sich leise, Eisei tigert durch den Raum. Seine Teamkameraden, die dank seines Sturzes nun wirklich keine Chance mehr haben, hier heute noch irgendetwas mitzunehmen. Eisei schaut auf, als die Tür ins Schloss fällt. Während Karl sich den Helm vom Kopf zieht, kommt Markus auf ihn zu.

„Bist du okay?“

Karl winkt müde ab. „Alles noch dran, keine Sorge.“  Markus sieht ihn noch einen Moment prüfend an, bevor er leicht nickt und sich neben ihm auf die Bank fallen lässt. Karl ist froh, dass er es dabei bewenden lässt: Eisei kann eine ziemliche Glucke sein, wenn er das Gefühl hat, dass mit einem seiner Teamkameraden etwas nicht in Ordnung ist. Heute ist vieles nicht in Ordnung, bei allen von ihnen, und gleichzeitig sind sie zu müde und geschafft von den letzten Tagen und Wochen, um sich darüber aufzuregen.

Eins muss Karl dennoch loswerden. „Jungs, ich muss mich entschuldigen. Ich weiß selbst nicht genau, was da los war, aber der Sturz hätte definitiv nicht passieren dürfen.“

Nachdem der Sprung schon nicht besonders gut war, hat diese Aktion ihn und das ganze Team zusätzlich wertvolle Punkte gekostet. Das Podium ist damit in noch unerreichbarere Ferne gerückt. „Tut mir echt Leid, dass ich es vermasselt hab.“

Andi schüttelt entschieden den Kopf. „So ein Schmarrn, du hast gar nichts vermasselt. Das ist jedem von uns schon mal passiert.“ Karl spürt, wie Markus eine Hand auf seine rechte Schulter legt. „Hör bloß auf dich dafür zu entschuldigen. Hauptsache, dir ist nichts passiert.“ Constantin nickt. „Wenn überhaupt, vermasseln wir es heute alle gemeinsam. Du kannst da noch am allerwenigsten dafür.“

Karl nickt. Der Zuspruch tut gut, auch wenn er weiß, dass sein Fehler vermeidbar gewesen wäre. Die Luft ist einfach raus und all das, was sich in den letzten Tagen in Bischofshofen falsch eingeschliffen hat, kommt ihn heute teuer zu stehen. Es wäre schön gewesen, einen versöhnlichen Abschluss an dieser Schanze zu schaffen, aber es soll wohl nicht so sein.

Ihr Trainer betritt den kleinen Raum und sagt ein paar Sätze. Karl hört nur mit einem Ohr zu – im Kopf geht er seinen Sprung noch einmal durch. Er hat einfach nicht gut genug aufgepasst, war verärgert, weil er so früh schon gelandet war, obwohl er doch einen langen Sprung gebraucht hätte, um vielleicht doch noch ein paar Meter und Punkte aufzuholen.

Als alle um ihn herum aufstehen, wird er aus seinen Gedanken gerissen. Er klatscht mit Andi und Consti ab, die schon wieder ihre volle Montur angelegt haben und die Kabine verlassen, auf dem Weg zum zweiten Durchgang. Horngacher nickt ihm noch einmal zu, ehe auch er durch die Tür tritt. Neben ihm setzt Markus seinen Helm auf und zieht die Jacke über.

Wieder spürt er eine Hand an seinem Arm. „Alles in Ordnung?“, fragt Markus.

Karl hebt die Schultern. Was soll er darauf schon antworten? Seine Formkurve zeigt gerade stabil nach unten, die Tournee hat mehr als sonst üblich an seinen Nerven gezehrt und seine Sprünge gestern und heute haben auch nicht dazu beigetragen, seine Grundstimmung wirklich zu verbessern.

Markus schaut ihn noch immer an und wartet wohl auf eine Antwort. „Wird schon gehen“, meint Karl schlie��lich. Zu mehr Optimismus kann er sich gerade nicht durchringen. Markus macht einen Schritt auf ihn zu und legt Karl einen  Arm um die Schultern. „Ein letzter Sprung noch und dann ab nach Hause. Vergiss irgendwelche Platzierungen, komm einfach nur sicher da runter.“

Karl nickt. Auch wenn es ihm schwerfällt seinen Ehrgeiz zurückzustecken: Heute holen sie hier sowieso nichts mehr. Alle Chancen auf einen Podestplatz haben sie im ersten Durchgang vergeigt – er selbst am allermeisten und im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes. Mit der linken Hand fischt er auf der Bank nach seinen Handschuhen, die er dort vorhin abgelegt hatte, den rechten Arm hat er um Markus gelegt.

Der drückt ihn jetzt noch einmal kurz, ehe er sich von ihm löst. Karl atmet tief ein – der kurze Moment Nähe hat gut getan. Er ist nicht der Typ, der von sich aus Körperkontakt sucht, nicht wie Markus oder Andi, auch wenn er nichts dagegen hat. Manchmal merkt er erst dann, wenn ihm jemand halb auf dem Rücken liegt oder die Schulter klopft, wie sehr er die Nähe braucht. Markus scheint es manchmal fast vor ihm zu spüren und hält sich dann noch mehr als sonst in seiner Nähe auf, bis sich die Gelegenheit für eine kurze Umarmung ergibt.

Nacheinander verlassen sie die Kabine. [SPOILERS] As someone who has had both a dissociative episode and epilepsy, I wanted to talk about how much Cyberpunk 2077 means to me I’ve loved the story-telling abilities of the medium of video games for as long as I can remember, but no game has ever hit so personally as Cyberpunk 2077. In May 2022, I had a sudden diagnosis of epilepsy at the age of 30 after having my very first Grand mal seizure, which is a type of seizure that involves a loss of consciousness and violent muscle contractions. Ever since then, at any given moment due to unexpected loud noises, bright lights, sudden movements, etc. I could have a seizure of varying degrees. Sometimes, rarely, I’ll have another Grand mal, but mostly they are focal-awareness seizures, which is a seizure that occurs while a person is awake and alert. If you’ve played the game, I’m sure you are seeing a connection so far to what V experiences whenever there is a relic malfunction.But then came trying to treat my epilepsy with anticonvulsant medications. The first medication I was given caused me to have dissociative seizures, which are marked by a sudden onset of erratic behavior or thought, doing things and acting in ways the “old you” never would. When I complained, they doubled my dose and I began having a full year-long dissociative episode. For those who don’t know, dissociative disorders/ episodes involve experiencing a loss of connection between thoughts, memories, feelings, surroundings, behavior and identity. That last word is the key part. For an entire year of my life, I was literally a different person. I remember absolutely none of it. I lost friends and acted in ways that still shock me to this day. Then I played Cyberpunk 2077 again, remembering very little of my original play-through at launch. But I did remember I gave my body to Johnny, much like how at the time of my diagnosis, I lost myself to the medication induced episode. But my second playthrough, being on the other side of the episode and recovering, I saw things differently through V’s eyes. I saw myself, and I have never felt so seen by a piece of pop culture. It was quite a cathartic way to replay the last year of my life and not give up in the end. Seeing V wake up in the penthouse next to River and having been able to achieve so much while still fighting for herself; fighting for Songbird just because she thought that if I can save this one person, maybe this will have meant something; seeing Johnny actively advocate for V despite how things started; and finally V approaching the casino in space…it reminded me that things are only as hopeless as you let them be. It reminded me I can be better, but it takes effort. And that’s a pretty beautiful message to convey in a medium that, unfortunately, so many people are so quick to write off. (...) Mosca ha iniziato a preoccuparsi del sostegno occidentale all’Ucraina già nel 2022. Il Cremlino, mal informato dai suoi servizi di sicurezza, non aveva colto la portata della solidarietà che Kyiv avrebbe potuto ottenere. Mosca non aveva colto neppure la simpatia che l’esercito ucraino, combattendo come Davide contro Golia, avrebbe suscitato nei primi mesi dell’invasione presso le opinioni pubbliche soprattutto europee. Più che le disfatte sul campo di battaglia, più che il crollo della certezza di catturare Kyiv in tre giorni, a preoccupare Mosca sarebbero stati la simpatia, l’aiuto e la solidarietà che l’Ucraina stava raccogliendo e che erano i principali avversari del tipo di guerra che il Cremlino, dopo aprile del 2022, ha iniziato a impostare: la guerra lunga, adatta a generare un senso di fatica e frustrazione nella politica e nelle opinioni pubbliche. Mentre studiava i suoi errori sul campo di battaglia, Mosca si rendeva conto che anche le sue operazione di disinformazione erano da rifare.

Gli organi come Sputnik e Rt, le testate russe propagandistiche destinate a un pubblico internazionale, così il 23 maggio del 2022, un ufficiale russo dell’Svr, i servizi di sicurezza esterni, preparò un documento intitolato  “Propaganda” e tre giorni dopo lo portò con sé per esporlo al Senato. L’ufficiale si chiama Mikhail Kolesov,  ha lavorato per la maggior parte della sua carriera a Kabul, in Afghanistan, ed è diventato l’architetto di una nuova campagna  per iniettare forza rigenerata nella macchina di propaganda del Cremlino attraverso un approccio che nel suo documento definisce “sistematico, mirato e attivo, di natura offensiva”. Se il documento è noto è grazie a un’inchiesta realizzata dalla testata russa The Insider e dallo Spiegel. La proposta di Kolesov mira alla produzione di contenuti adatti  a stimolare in modo crescente la paura di un conflitto sconfinato, e la rabbia nei confronti dei rifugiati ucraini. L’idea di Kolesov è stata condensata nel Progetto Kylo, che mescola guerra informatica e operazioni di destabilizzazione come manifestazioni e proteste soprattutto in Francia e Germania: pochi mesi fa tre uomini sono andati davanti alla Tour Eiffel a Parigi, hanno posizionato delle bare con sopra la scritta “soldati francesi in Ucraina”, per farlo sarebbero stati pagati circa quattrocento euro a testa, e l’azione era parte del progetto  Kylo. L’attenzione di Kolesov nel formulare la nuova offensiva di propaganda si è concentrata anche sui dissidenti russi. Assieme a un altro ufficiale dell’Svr, Mikhail Kulemin, ha progettato un’operazione denominata Ledorub (piccozza) per screditare gli oppositori russi del Cremlino e spaventare chi li finanzia all’estero. Il nome dell’operazione è un riferimento all’arma usata per uccidere Lev Trotsky in Messico nel 1940 (...)
