I went for it and yeah, this is just the optimal way for me to play this game. I don't mind opting for freebuild and no death because it's still fun to roleplay like I'm an actual spaceship crash survivor. Just needed to take like half an hour to set up a bitching base camp first.

Why do I low key wanna start a fresh subnautica playthrough on whatever gamemode gets rid of dying. (I think it's just creative mode at that point.... Maybe?) Like I never finished the game on my full survival playthrough and i kinda miss the exploration and base building.

5-book gothic fantasy epic that I'll definitely publish one day but probably no time soon! My bastard child, my wicked firstborn, my greatest love <3

Character-oriented political drama set in a pseudo-Victorian, dystopian oligarchy where everyone's heart is made out of metal. It's about coming of age and discovering queer identity in a world that is absolutely fucked. God is an extraterrestrial lesbian who gives ppl very traumatizing magic powers. There are cyborgs, shapeshifters, and morally gray women in STEM. It's tight as fuck idk what else what to tell u.

Book 1 is about achillean monarchists, and book 2 is about sapphic anarchists. There are only two genders, I guess.

At this point, I've drafted most of the books at least once. Working to refine a lot of raw material atm!

Lost Letters – Book

Aka the current active HoL WIP, and book one in the revised series structure

Length: 80k as of now; around 120-140k when the first draft is finished, I presume.

Genre: adult fantasy, gothic, noir detective drama?? um?? If you want me to frame it in BookTok terms (why?) it's a dark academia villain x villain tragic romantasy. Hrgh.

Summary: Cyborg soldier goes to college, joins a shady socialite frat, and falls in love with the jilted heir-apparent to the throne. Hilarity ensues.

(By "hilarity," I mean a militant revolutionary faction and a tragedy of Greek proportions.)

POV characters: Charles (the cyborg), Dale (the heir), and Cecelia (Charles' sister, a junior detective, the love of my life and potentially the Chosen One???)

This book is twisty and dark and immensely fun to write.

I'm about halfway through the first full draft! Hoping to share snippets and vaguepost about my children here.

Length: a standalone work that will hopefully fall on the shorter novel/novella spectrum.

Genre: literary SF, cyberqueer, psychological space quest

Summary: The consciousness of a dead coding genius, trapped inside a spaceship, seeks a new planet to sustain their sister, the last surviving human, after the destruction of Earth.

If you're here to get wildly philosophical about gender and the myth of essential self, this is the story for you! That's why I'm writing it, lol. 🏳️‍⚧️ 🚀 🤖

This one started out as a short story (100% finished) which I want to expand.

POV: Archer Alto, the coder. Spaceship? Human? Soul?

Supporting Cast: Pandora, the last human, and Abby, a holographic impression of Archer's childhood consciousness

Little Wins, October 2024

Oh hey! It’s been a minute. What’s new with you? Oh, me? Not much, just finished a Kickstarter campaign and then went off grid for a month to de-stress. Yeah, feeling much better thanks.

I did promise myself that this month I would write the post-Kickstarter wrap up - what worked, what didn’t, what’s next - but it doesn’t feel like time for that yet. Maybe once the books are out in the post and the campaign is really and truly over? Yeah. Let’s do it then. In the meantime I have a couple of updates.

Even more llamas! While I was away resting my brain post-Kickstarter I found time to write up and lay out a trio of one-shot session plans for Drama Llamas and chuck them out into the world. Each plan includes a unique show concept, plus all the locations, NPCs, and challenges you need to run a high hilarity session of my reality TV themed TTRPG. Aegean! I think mentioned a while back that I’d landed my first writing job for not-my-own-game? Let’s say I did. I’m too lazy to actually go back and check. Well, that was a chapter for a Peloponnese-themed source book for Aegean, a marvellous TTRPG of ancient Greek heroism and politicking from We Evolve Publishing. I feel like I just wrote the last Sunday Week in Review five minutes ago and like six years ago at the same time. Short work weeks and coming off the back of vacation really do mess with your sense of time.

On Deck (One Shots) (Jack AU) by @something-tofightfor Just when I think I’ve gone through someone’s master list, I manage to find a gem and this is one of them. I have no clue about baseball, went to a game and had no idea what was happening no matter how many times someone tried to explain. However, I am 110% positive that if Jack was to explain the rules to me, I’d know him inside and out, oh and maybe a bit about baseball too. Gotta make sure those lessons get stretched out…

Bloom (Joel AU) by @penaonthestreets-javiinthesheetsThis was such a delightful opening chapter! Reader has their own flower shop, and just so happens our favourite Texan pays a visit. The characterization of Ellie almost steals the show from Joel’s meet-cute with Reader - I’m not going to spoil it, but I had to pick myself off of the floor after - just saying…

Working Title | Chapter 13 (Dieter) by @rhoorl I’m so rooting for these two! Both deserve a happy ending (in more than one sense!) and yet it seems there's those who want to bring them down or stand in their way. This update was a little angst, incredibly sweet and the last bit, well - I can't wait to read the next update!

Kinktober Day Two (Frankie) 🌶️ by @youvebeenlivingfictional I love the whole fun roleplay trop between established couples and this one does an excellent job of doing just that! Reader and Frankie are out at the bar having fun and, I'm not going to spoil it - go enjoy it for yourself!

Tip Your Server (Dieter) by @nothoughtsjustmeds This is just the best! Dieter and wife!reader on the night of his Oscar win and it’s just so much hilarity, sweetness & spice and the banter between the two is just the best. Please go read it, you won’t be disappointed, I promise! 

Kiss Me Quick (Dieter) by @secretelephanttattoo This, how I love this so! It’s a love letter to the British seaside and is told through a day at the beach with the one and only Dieter. It managed to not only invoke laughter but homesickness too. I’d go to the seaside for a stick of rock any day of the week with Dieter. 

Sofa So Good (Frankie) by @secretelephanttattoo This was cozy, domestic bliss wrapped up as tight as my fingers would be in Frankie’s hair. This was a sweet slice of life and so done so well. A perfect cozy Sunday read if you’re looking for one!

Video Nasty I & II (Joel) 🌶️ by @sin-djarin I don't think I've recovered from these two yet... Oof, incredibly hot, incredibly Joel and incredibly read-again worthy! Also provided a fun memory of mine working in a video store and will Marcus be forever associated with a poorly titled porno? Yes. Yes he will be.

Paranoid Heart (Javier P.) by @goodwithcheese This was such a great opener and introduction to our main character and Javi. Now, if you're thinking you need to watch Narcos to read this, take it from me, Ms. Truly 'I think I've watched six episodes now but can't remember' Betty, you don't need to, because Megan is so good at immersing you in her characters worlds that you'll be well taken care of. Can't wait to see where this story leads us!

A Month of Sundays(Various) by @gnpwdrnwhiskey I love each and every one posted so far! There’s something to be said about drabbles, little slices of life etc., six-sentence fics - because they’re not as easy to write as you think. There needs to be some establishing of what’s going on, and while not a resolution - something to end on. These are all great insights into some established characters and some we’ve not met before and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the month brings!

No Panties, No Problems (Frankie) by @blackfemalenerd Frankie is an A-grade menace here and, oof is this hot? Please do yourself a favour and go read it and leave your comments - because I think we all deserve some more of this Frankie!

I missed last weeks update, so here’s an update on Frankie Cat - she’s very much settled in. She is pretty laid back as her name sake, but sometimes her tiny humans can get on her last nerves, but baby Truly #2 and her are BFF’s (mostly because baby Truly is forcing Frankie to love her, like I would the actual Frankie…)

She also has to go back to the shelter today for treatment, as she’s not 100% a Truly until her spay (which if anyone has tips for care after I’m all ears) - hopefully she doesn’t get excited and think she’s finally getting away from us… sorry Frankie Cat, you’re one of us now. Even if you do rip my feet to shit.

I have all those fixes implemented and once I feel like I've got chapter 3 looking a bit prettier, I'll update the game again. i bought ultrakill forever ago but never got around to playing it. what is the deal why has it spawned such a dedicated fanbase. you seem like you'd know....

IT'S JUST REALLY GODDAMN FUN!!! that's the short answer and honestly the best answer. it's really ridiculously fun. like probably one of the most fun games to ever exist.

there is a ridiculous amount of care and skill and soul packed into every design choice; it culminates in some of the most immaculately ecstatic and visceral gameplay i've ever experienced. it cannot be understated how brilliant this game's design is. the only way to really understand why it excels is to just play it!

if you'd like an anecdote to represent the overall ultrakill experience, here's mine: when i played the demo for the first time, after maybe 5 minutes i became so physically nauseous that i had to stop. and in that time i immediately went to get the full game. it's DELIGHTFUL. (see also: jerma's playthrough where he starts screaming "humans aren't supposed to be doing this" during a boss fight.)

but even aside from pure gameplay, there really is a lot to love… there's a certain self-aware sincerity to everything. it's unabashed on purpose, and in the best ways possible. despite its obviously absurd violence, don't at all mistake ultrakill for something cynical or misanthropic—there's a lot of depth and heart dancing beneath the surface, a lot of it in places i didn't expect to see it, and so much that i didn't expect to appreciate nearly as much as i do.

like okay, obviously the music is just. insane. the goddamn midi metal/breakcore genre fusion is THE most hilarious and unfathomably genius stylistic choice that could have been made. and it's not even just that!! there's ambient & drone & harsh noise influence all across the ost, which just enchants and delights me. i DEFINITELY didn't expect it, but i love it. (the fact that there's like, a level named after a sunn o))) song, and that the latest update contains a godawful joke about trout mask replica might tell you exactly what kind of game ultrakill is, or it might tell you literally nothing.)

the writing and worldbuilding can be rich and compassionate in ways i really didn't expect, too... it's so evident that it's a work of passion, with really sincere and often sweet philosophies sprinkled throughout all the bloodshed and grotesque silliness—and often within them. it makes me smile! also gabriel is a really good character. people go apeshit over that guy. for good reason. he's just REALLY good.

if you're just interested in understanding its amassed fanbase, yeah ultrakill's is pretty ridiculous and dedicated. and it's extremely deserved! the game is fun & the characters are fun. being in early access, it's kinda built on ongoing feedback, so it makes sense people are invested. the devs really seem to embrace the fanbase wholeheartedly, which helps a lot too. that is also why, kind of inexplicably, ultrakill is kind of a gay & horny game. please note that i do not say these things flippantly or lacking deliberation; there's an extremely good essay to be written about gayness across ultrakill & its communities. like aside from the general hilarity of a game having official buttplug support, the fact that the dev team hired an artist specifically because he drew a lot of incredibly beautiful/obscene depictions of gabriel DOES say a lot. this, of course, makes ultrakill 100x better.

anyway that's the basics. i could definitely write THOUSANDS of words about this game and that's honestly... not what i expected when i booted it up the first time LOL. it really just happened to appeal to a lot of things i sincerely adore, in an unexpectedly sincere way—all while being a STUPIDLY good game.

TL;DR: it's a fun robot video game where you shoot things. and there's blood and explosions. it's good you should play it

1. What’s your favourite sims death? Either meteor because of HOW dramatic it is, or pufferfish since that’s like, the only way for your own sim to kill another sims (without mods, anyway).

2. Alpha CC or Maxis Match? Mostly Maxis, but I do have mix elements (like the hairs that aren’t TECHNICALLY alpha but are so detailed they almost look it), especially in my fandom saves because the outfits in those are always alpha.

3. Do you cheat when your sims gain weight? Nah, if I really want a sim to stay the same weight, I lock the weight/gain loss (I do this for my selfsim every time so she’ll STOP LOSING WEIGHT oh my god woman). But if I’m playing with it on, what happens happens.

4. Do you use move objects? I don’t even have to enter this cheat because it’s always ticked on my BBB.

5. Favorite mod? I mean the most practical favorites are MCCC and BBB, and really most of the ;must haves’ the majority of people have, so lemmie pick a lesser seen one – PreferencesPlus by Helaene is a huge game-changer for someone who really dislikes all the missing likes/dislikes in the game.

6. First expansion/game/stuff pack you got? ...I wanna say Outdoor Retreat? I know, horrible pick, I didn’t know how lacking it was.

8. Who’s your favorite sim that you’ve made? This...is hard, but I’m gonna have to roll with Amie, because she’s evolved beyond being just a sim at this rate – she’s also my FFXIV character, as well as a VtM character. But she absolutely did START as a sim.

9. Have you made a simself? Yes – she’s set loose in EVERY save I have for sake of hilarity – I love passing by her in-game and she’s doing something utterly random. The last time I saw her she was shooting down a goth witch lady flirting with her – thrilled the sexuality update can make her proper asexual now, was so happy to see it without having to put dumb flags on her!

10. What sim traits do you give yourself? Lover, Unflirty, Lazy, Cat Lover, Creative, Foodie.

11. Which is your favorite EA hair color? I’m a pretty big fan of the middle red tone. Or the green, if we’re picking unnatural colors.

12. Favorite EA hair? The RoM updo short locs are SO good. Honorable mention to the EL undercut half-ponytail.

13. Favorite life stage? I’m gonna be boring and say YA, because the game is LITERALLY built around them so you have so, SO many more options.

14. Are you a builder or are you in it for the gameplay? I do a little bit of everything, but CAS is my specialty. I spend HOURS in there.

15. Are you a CC creator? If some hair/eye recolors and simple tattoos count, then yeah. I really can’t be fussed learning blender beyond pose-making.

16. Do you have any simblr friends/a sim squad? My social anxiety stops me from interacting a lot, even if I try my best to talk to people. Like, I know the chances of someone being an asshole to me are very, very slim and that most everyone is chill and laid back like I am – REASONABLY I know I’m being dumb, but also my brain is an asshole.

17. What’s your favorite game? In Sims, I’ve honestly only played 4 (a friend sent me 3 a while ago but I have yet to fire it up). Outside sims? Uh...Okami for single player, Guild Wars 2 for multiplayer.

24. How do you edit your pictures? I have several different reshade presets I’ll alternate between, and a good number of Photoshop actions and/or PSDs, and it’s always some combo of those. Each save has a different reshade/action (or PSD) combination to make them have their own looks (I have a word doc for ref so I know what save uses what combo).

25. What expansion/game/stuff pack is your favorite so far? Vampires will always be my favorite, but I was shocked by how much I also enjoyed Werewolves – I’m not a werewolf person, really. Non-occult...Growing Together really does add a ton through the whole game.

Ryu Number Chart Update: Tropico 2: Pirate Cove

(With bonus Treasure Island!)

Tropico 2: Pirate Cove is a bit of an unusual entry in the Tropico franchise, as instead of playing as president of a fictional island nation during the Cold War and Doing Politics with the Blocs, you're the Pirate King in Pirate Times, running some sort of Pirate Island. Basically the same concept otherwise, though.

Depending on your game mode (and in line with the earlier Tropico games), you can specify your Pirate King's Pirate Identity as one of a number of historical or fictional-but-in-the-public-domain pirates:

Granted, you don't really see your chosen Pirate do anything as a discrete Pirate Unit, but if you're bad at Being A Pirate, you get a little cutscene which seems to depict a first-person view of the Pirate King having apparently been cast-away, with a view of their Pirate Boots:

Does that count? I feel like that counts, probably. I mean, you also get a first-person view cutscene if you're good at being a pirate (the viewpoint's diegetic; some Pirate Folks raise their drinks at you). In other words, if the Pirate King is a Specific Pirate, and the Pirate King is in the cutscene, then the Specific Pirate is in the cutscene. That's math.

There are multiple ways of getting Ryu into this mess, but the ones I've got a Big Like for are through Kingdom Hearts and Fate/Grand Order, which work out owing to Tropico 2's inclusion of Captain Hook (public domain is public domain), and Fate/Grand Order's inclusion of basically every historical and/or folkloric figure they can shove into their gacha, some of whom are genderswapped because why not and also because it worked for Type-Moon the first time; they're not going to stop now.

(This chart is by no means all-inclusive. There's plenty of Video Game I haven't watched yet, and if I tried to include all the connections that went through Minecraft skins, even only including the DLC dropped through the official "Minecraft" account, the topology would drive me to madness.)

So congrats to Charlotte de Berry, Laurens de Graaf, and Nicholas van Hoorn for making it onto The Chart, but the real MVP of this update is Long John Silver, on account of that he provides a neat way to get into Treasure Island video games. (I don't count Treasure Planet characters as the same characters. Little bit too different. Doesn't really feel right.)

If you've never heard of either of these two video games, that's perfectly fair, frankly. Treasure Island is a 2008 adventure game that serves as a sort of condensed video game version of the book with a bunch of adventure game puzzles added. It's faithful-ish, with the exception of a handful of original characters (including the daughter of Squire Trelawney, who serves romantic interest), and the inexplicable narrative decision to have Dr. Livesey suddenly quaff Evil Juice.

I guess I get what they were going for here? "Ho ho, those folks who know the novel and are expecting the same are going to get a big surprise when they get to the twist we added ourselves!" But also, I feel like if anyone is playing a video game adaptation of Treasure Island, they're probably playing it because it's a video game adaptation of Treasure Island and don't really want an Original Twist.

Though my estimations of What Other People Want have been historically lacking, so what do I know? Nada, is what I know.

Anyway, the other game up there, Destination: Treasure Island, is also a griphy adventure game, though this one's a sequel to the book, instead. Jim Hawkins, presumably doing Jim Hawkins things, gets his day-to-day interrupted by Silversent psittacinunce, just in time also for a troika of pirates from the book to arrive at the scene Bearing Vengeance re: the maroonage they suffered (also from the book). Hilarity ensues, although for some reason in the game Black Dog has been renamed "Yellow Dog" which makes him Not The Same Character, as far as The Chart is concerned. (It's fine; he's covered by the 2008 game anyway.)

It's got 100% less Dr. Livesey, but also 100% less Evil Dr. Livesey. I reckon that balances out.

I'm so tired of feeling ostracized in gamer spaces.

I was just playing helldivers 2 with a group of guys that were all friends with me before tonight and they meet for the first time. We play, I'm decent at game but my game is shitting out from new update. Whatever. Later on in the playing I accidentally keep killing one of my longest friends and he playfully scolds me for it. I tell him it sounds like it's a skill issue on his part but then my other friends (including my partner) end up playing this bit on his side. Which haha funny, but we continue.

I'm not by any means bad at the game, but sometimes I do accidentally fuck up movement which causes me to deploy a bomb in wrong spot and has killed someone once or twice in a couple games. Nothing annoying or trolling. But every time it's a bit against me. I try to move the bit onto the person who dies but they keep punching down at me. I'm used to being the butt of the joke but I'm starting to get a bit miffed because they're all my friends. Whenever their friends fuck up, no they didn't. But whenever I fuck up, they joke about it. And then at one point my partner melees me while I have an area bomb in my hand and causes it to kill 3 of us. After that game I have 5k friendly fire. Hilarious, I'm dying of laughter, they also think it's funny. And after that I'm trying to joke about me using ridiculous abilities for the situation that will def kill us and they just aren't really playing with me. I'm getting left behind in combat and at this point I'm constantly crashing because of the new update and they still are playing the game modes that I legit can't play. So I end up just leaving and there's no "we should go play bugs so siren can actually play" they just keep playing without me. I don't know man. I try to joke about the game crashing and I try to share the hilarity of how my game looks because of my attempts to not crash but there's just nothing. Like I know I'm not being annoying because literally I'm talking how I always talk with them and they just aren't really joking with me. It just made me feel so ostracized when literally I'm the person who made the group. How does this still happen when I'm the one that made the group and that group is made up of my best friend, a friend I've known for years, and my fucking partner. how the fuck do I get ostracized in that fucking group.

I can't tell if Im overthinking it or what, but I know how it feels to be treated like a woman in a male space and that's the energy I kept getting. I wasn't really "one of the bro's". They all immediately clicked and I just didn't even though I was the anchor friend. They all KNOW I'm nonbinary and they still just. idk man. it's just frustrating. I just want to exist without being treated like a female man. It's so frustrating that I can't be bad at a game without being petrified I'll be judged on my fucking gender. I just want to be loved and accepted.

Baldur's Gate update: I had a cold for two days and now I'm 30 hours into this thing. I have never played a game like this, not in style or versatility. I'm romancing Astarion who is so hard to do and I'm already planning my next playthrough as him. He's absolutely my favorite character (I am weak for a man who needs a good cuddle/cookie/blanket), but I'm finding him hard to romance because I'm too helpful. He doesn't disapprove of me a lot but I'm missing things that would make him like me more.

I just can't decide if I'm going to romance Gale, Karlach, or Shadowheart with him. Gale, probably? Because Gale is most likely who I'd romance in real life, but Karlach is everything I'd want in a woman, I swear. Shadowheart I think would just be snark and hilarity with Astarion.

This whole thing has been so healing. My ex was so into video games and I never liked them like he did so even though I played a lot of N64 and GameCube as a kid I considered gaming to be a thing he did instead of me. Then we broke up and I processed the abuse and didn't want to do anything that reminded me of him.

Then last year my husband convinced me to play Breath of the Wild, and then I played Tears of the Kingdom and now Baldur's Gate. And I've loved them all, and maybe gaming is a thing I could do?

Oooo nioce! I've saved scummed, and crash and stuck in sidestep is Rough, omg the good/bad angst lol. I've played twice but keep being 'too bad' for folks to want to bust sidestep out lul. I loveee reluctant villains, they're so good. I'm a big fan of playing sidestep as 'fated' but reluctant, like feels they can't stop but wants someone (cough ortega) to stop them. I've tiptoed into the fully evil sidestep, it's veryyyy rough but if you love angst I highly recommend, oh jeez just the reactions.

asdfaf yeah, i love my friends to death but they are Chaotic players. it's been a journey. if nothing else, i've learned quite a bit of improv, and fleshing out our homebrew setting helped me organize my writing quite a bit (especially my outlines). for the most part, i try to keep stuff separate tho, even if sometimes some things bleed over (like, NPC traits, or city structures or stuff like that), but the stories are completely different in both the general setting, and the vibes.

Project Hadea just updated and i read it last night and. god. so good. definitely check it out.

it started out as a linear story, and mostly for fun, but the more i added to it, the more other possible outcomes and scenarios started to make themselves known and. i am kinda considering making it into IF format. idk yet, i am waiting to have it more fleshed out (like, actually written, not just outlines and bulletpoints and scenes that aren't yet tied to each other)

aaaah the good angst. i will definitely play an evil route with sidestep. hopefully soon, i started replaying Baldur's Gate again and the Hyperfixation is. very strong.

unfortunately naming pets with human names seems to start to be a tradition with my friends. we already have a cat in the group named Mike (he truly is the definition of no thoughts, head empty. i love my furry nephew so much). some other friends recently rescued a stray kitty and named her Maia (which we all know several people with that name). the other pets that are relatively close to the group are either named after food, or have very literal cat and dog names (my aunt got a cat and she named him Motan. which is just "male cat" in romanian. truly like naming your cat Cat)

2022 fanfic review ✨

2023 is the year we are bringing BACK fic rec lists, so I wanted to put together a list of fics that I really enjoyed this year. Thank you all who made 2022 just a bit more bearable! (Note: ratings vary for these, please read the tags!)

▷ Antigonish by softlyblue - (complete, 10/10) Martin inherits a haunted house and hires ghost-seeing Jon to deal with something that wants to kill him. I love the slowburn in this fic so very much and highly recommend it.

▷ Beholding the GDPR by shinyopals - (oneshot) The Magnus Institute updates its privacy policies. This fic is so very funny and has a really neat formatting too!

▷ There Are Ghosts in This Story by whynotfly - (complete, 3/3) Something is very wrong with the Institute, but only Martin and Jon can see it. Honestly made me lie on the ground and contemplate existence after finishing it.

▷ Snare by prim_the_amazing - (oneshot) What if the Web claimed Jon long before the Eye? I really love the scenario this fic posits, as well as the characterization of my favorite girl Annabelle.

▷ Terror Management Theory by prismatical - (oneshot) Jon can’t die; this causes more inconveniences than one might think. This fic has such a fun premise and really is a wonderful and emotional ride!

▷ Mister Fahrenheit by masokissme - (oneshot) Jon deals with a fever after his encounter with Jude Perry, and Elias...sorta helps. I really loved the characterization of both Elias and Jon in this fic and think the author really captured the hilarity of their dynamic.

▷ How Not To Perform Customer Service Interactions by vienna_salvatori - (oneshot) The Magnus Institute from outsiders’ perspectives. This fic was hilarious and really captures the inherent humor of being just some guy in a world filled with eldritch horrors.

▷ Of Your Dreams by saintbleeding - (oneshot) Martin dreams of Jon while he’s in a coma. I love love love the horror of this fic; it truly left me feeling haunted long after I finished it.

▷ For a Firmament by supaslim - (series, 2 fics) Jon and his relationship to his own humanity. This is a very lovely s4 canon-divergence that has one of the best understandings of Jon’s character that I’ve read thus far.

▷ From the Highways to the Hills by blackwood - (oneshot) Georgie, Jon, and what they mean together. This fic looks at Jon and Georgie’s relationship through college, and I think the characterization of Georgie is particularly of note in its ability to stay true to her negative traits and still make her sympathetic.

▷ Jared Hopworth, Chiropractor by breekon - (oneshot) Jared’s side hustle, it’s all in the title. This fic is honestly just very funny and I love speculating as to what the avatars do in their off time.

▷ What Survives of Us by wildehack - (complete, 3/3) Jon wakes up after the Unknowing - after the end of the world. I don’t usually read post-canon but this one really got me and I think it truly feels like it could be canon.

▷ A Deeply Annoying Child by ajkal2 - (oneshot) A kid, a Leitner, and the consequences that follow. This is a really lovely look at Jon and Tim’s s3 relationship through a bit of a different lens.

▷ Won My Bride at a Poker Game by prim_the_amazing - (complete, 8/8) Martin saves a moth from a spider and deals with the unintended consequences. This fic is a very sweet slowburn that deals with fairy Jon and all of magic’s many intricacies.

▷ From Cradle to Cremation by did - (oneshot) Oliver Banks vs. making small talk with attractive people. I love fics focused on side characters, and Oliver’s internal monologue in this definitely worth the read.
