tbh i feel like it can be a little hard to get a grasp on certain characters in this fandom because of how differently they're portrayed in the play that goes wrong vs the specials vs the shows. like there's enough there that it's obviously the same character but there's also enough differences in personality traits and their relationships to other characters that sometimes it feels a bit hard to come up with a concrete idea of who they are ykwim

a refresh of Marian Regina Hawke's Act 3 look (because I don't like drawing the Champion's Armor lol); it's basically the same as depicted here, but i added a tailcoat to her pink overshirt, and added a chatelaine -- which is the buckle attached to her belt.

chatelaines were basically used as "inside out handbags" back in the day, where women would attach little accessories like mirrors, perfume, or fans, and carry them around. they had the most utility, as far as i've seen, as ways for tailors to have their tools within easy reach. and Marian, who is a tailor, would of course do the same.

her chatelaine has embroidery scissors, a sewing needle carrying case, and a beeswax ball cage (used for waxing thread, to make it stiffer and more durable). she also has a little pouch where she carries spools of thread, buttons, and other bits and bobs she finds around Kirkwall. the buckle of the chatelaine itself is of course a little nod to her (by this point in the game) lover, Sebastian Vael.

and I designed a staff for her! it combines elements of Cold-Blooded, Malcom's Honor, and Apostate's Courage, but I made it pink because Marian is a bitch who coordinates, baby. I also added a staff blade, because she WILL stab someone if given the opportunity.

other details are largely the same -- like the fact that she's wearing Meghan Vael's locket, which doubles as engagement jewelry from Sebastian (she, in turn, gave him a necklace that he wears under his armor :) )

Darkvision

Over the course of the game's timeline, Dalamus is especially vulnerable to spells and other things which blind via sudden bright light (or even just, spells with bright light that aren't specifically intended to blind), and it takes him about twice as long, sometimes longer, for him to recover than most other characters.

Where many characters have sight disadvantaged by darkness and have more advantage in the light, Dalamus works nearly opposite. In most normal darkness, he sees very clearly, whereas proximity to bright light sources (not necessarily candles, but definitely things like torches or especially large fires) can disadvantage him depending on the placement of the light in his field of vision.

When he casts Dancing Lights, he will often cast it in the air above the party or battlefield to prevent from blinding himself while giving party members more visibility with minimal effect on his own. Though, if useful, he will cast it where it can temporarily blind/stun enemies, even if it means he must risk being temporarily blinded, himself (this requires a lot of trust in party members to not leave him unprotected while vulnerable).

Over time, Dalamus will become used to the light of the surface. But he will resist this for as long as he is convinced he will return to Menzoberranzan, not wanting to potentially weaken or diminish his Darkvision.

there are very few people in all of teyvat that kami trusts. the majority of people have let him down or hurt him in some way, and as a result, he's chosen to stay away from all of humanity. but there are 2 people kami KNOWS beyond a shadow of a doubt he can rely on: nahida, and ren.

it's such a strange twist of fate that he'd form a close bond with what is essentially an alternate version of himself, but kami is so so protective of ren regardless. he loves ren, and will never stop rooting for him. it doesn't matter how sad kami feels or how much he wishes he could go back in time and try to do better for himself, he's always going to be there for ren, and encourage him.

the two can fight and bicker and act like typical siblings, and kami loves that dynamic. he loves fighting with ren, the two can sass each other like nothing else, and even drive nahida up a wall. but at the end of the day, if anyone tried to hurt ren or put him down, kami's going to swoop right in and put a stop to that immediately.

NO ONE is allowed to hurt ren. no one is allowed to make ren sad, because then that person is going to get a VERY angry and pissed off kaminari after them.

there are exceptions of course!! (kazuha and/or nahida). but outside of that it doesn't matter. kami is so so protective of someone he considers his brother, and he'll be protective and doting until teyvat itself ends.

Donkey looked up from the stack of books he'd placed down. Inari sat on a table across the room. A perfectly good chair stood askew to her position, ignored in favor of being able to swing her legs back and forth. Her elbows rested on her knees with her hands cupping her face. One—or at least Donkey—would think based on her words that she was upset, but she seemed rather content. At least, that's how it appeared outwardly.

"What do you mean?" he finally asked.

"You could have literally anybody else in the village or even in the rest of the kingdom as your friend—you're the prince for stars' sake!" she blurted with absolutely 0 restraint, throwing her arms out.

"Yeah, and…? You're not my only friend, Ina. There's also Karate and—"

"I know, I know, it's just… out of all of them… you hang out with me the most…" She tapped the tips of her fingers together, pondering her next words. "Aren't you… afraid of what people will say?"

Donkey took a step towards her, teeth bared. "Why are you asking such things? Whose putting these thoughts into your head?"

Inari scrambled off the table, rushing over to him. His words made her panic, and she realized he might have mistook her meaning to be something else. Book-smart the prince certainly was, but people-smart he most certainly was not.

"No one, I promise! Well, I guess I'm doing it to myself." She sighed, turning away from him. "What I mean is… aren't you worried people might take our relationship differently from how we do?"

Inari had already experienced a couple of their other friends asking her about it. It had been as a joke, more or less to tease her for how close the two of them were, but it made her worried now that everyone else perceived it the same way.

"Ina, you're a very good friend of mine, and a very talkative one at that. I've always found that interesting about you," Donkey said, placing his hands on her shoulders. "However, while usually I can tell what you're trying to say while using twice as many words as needed… I genuinely can't at the moment. Please explain?"

"They might think… we're dating…?" His eyes widened, and Inari thought there was the faintest hint of his face flushing at the mere thought, but she ignored it for his sake. "I don't want anyone to get the wrong idea, least of all you, so I'm just mostly afraid, is all."

The two shared a silent look for a few moments. Donkey broke out into a mischievous grin.

"Next time someone suggests it, you should say we are actually dating."

Now it was Inari who turned red in the face, though her change was much more evident than his.

"Th-that is a bad idea!" she stammered.

"Is it? We're not considered too young for it to be taken seriously. Besides, if anyone asks why—which I'm hoping they don't—just tell them it's for the same reasons we've gotten along so well as friends. Although I guess that was your original question, huh?" She nodded. "Well, there's the fact you're really smart, you're always willing to help everyone you can, you're actually… kinda… cute… uhm, we enjoy a lot of the same books, there's never a dull moment with you if I'm being completely honest—"

"Wait, what was that third one?"

"We enjoy a lot of the same books," Donkey said nonchalantly. "Look, there's a lot of reasons to it. In the end, I actually feel like I can just be… I don't know, normal around you, instead of what I am. Some people have tried to be my friend only because I'm the prince, but it sometimes feels like you forget that when we're near each other."

"That's because I don't see," Inari pretended to swoon, acting as if she was head over heels for him, "Donkey Kong, beloved prince of the Jungle Kingdom and heir to the throne!" She grinned wide, dropping the rouse and grabbing his arm in excitement. "I see a really smart person who I am good friends with and have a great time arguing about things with. If that makes you feel like you're one of us 'little folk', then I feel like I've already accomplished something with my life. Although, ideally, we'll be old coots and I'll be talking to you like it's bingo night and we're arch rivals who have lived in the same retirement center together for decades."

They laughed at the thought.

. . .However, for that he's doing that and plans on spending the day hosting his little pseudo buffet party, he'a simultaneously aware he's doing something else that day at the same time.

It's been like this for a little while, actually. Leo had explained the likelihood to him. And he'd spoken to Hyde about it too. The island itself was already an anomalous location. So for there to be anomalous occurrences on it was no surprise. They just didn't normally regard time and space.

Another version of himself. Multiple of Taiga. Places being the same but different. Unfamiliar ghouls and staff. Familiar ghouls and staff, but different. But also, he knew them, sometimes he remembered things that weren't his life--but they were his memories too, the memories were from himself, but. . .from another timeline, adjacent to this one. Or the one he was from. Or some other one. He wasn't sure what the core of all of this was. He could tell, though, that usually the only one from 'his' timeline was Leo. Taiga was often close, but not exact. The Taiga's weren't 'his'--but they were, they were his and he was theirs, and there was nothing unfamiliar about anyone even when they were different. Like he, briefly, became the Romeo they knew in some capacity, or rather that he knew the things that he'd been through and he felt like he was him, or. . . .

Time passed differently. A week for every month. He lived a period in time once and then lived it again differently. Sometimes he was in multiple places at once. Sometimes he bounced around through time. Or he knew things he shouldn't know. He thought of Taiga often when he noticed it--Taiga was always knowing things he shouldn't and guessing the future and knowing the past and present he shouldn't know. And yet he didn't feel confused or disoriented by any of it, unlike Taiga. He must be experiencing something different.

He could generally tell which Taiga was which--same with knowing when someone was from another timeline, even without speaking to them first. Nothing happened if he spoke to or touched his other self. When he returned to his time and space and life--or returned to one that was familiar to him, anyway, that felt like 'home' where everyone around was 'his'--all of that fell to the back of his mind and he was unburdened by it. Even living through it he was unburdened by it. It was simply a fact.

The people around him were the people he knew--friends, enemies, acquaintances, strangers, faces in the crowd, lovers past and present(or never but past in their presence)--but different. And oddly enough that didn't stir him any, where changes often did. Because they always had a Romeo. And he was usually himself. And he got to be another himself for a little while, sometimes, sort of, he wasn't sure.

But all of that to say, he would be spending his birthday in Sinostra, perhaps among friends and underlings.

But he would also be in Kabukicho, another pair of R&R permits he'd managed to. . .convince Hyde to give him in his hand. But only in one timeline, where he and @taiga-shark had gone to Italy for his birthday, because Taiga wanted his gift to be Romeo being happy again. And Taiga remembered he was happiest at home. And he was happy. He had fun, once he relaxed. But it felt. . .wrong that Taiga's birthday had been for him.

So he would spend his birthday on Taiga. Maybe taking him places he used to know. Maybe doing things with him that he used to do. Maybe it wouldn't spark any memories that he'd once had. Maybe it wouldn't feel like home anymore. But Italy hadn't quite felt like home for Romeo either.

They had made a few new memories in Italy instead. And they visited the ruins of a place that was once 'home.' So maybe they could make new memories in Kabukicho too. No matter how brief they were. And Taiga's home there--Romeo's home, too, where they lived together--was no ruin.

But whether or not it was home, what mattered was that they were together. They were each other's home.

(Even if he wasn't 'his' Romeo all the time. 'His' Romeo who was 'his' home. But it would feel like his because they would be one for a while. Everything they did and experienced would be essentially the same.)

The whole thing was strange. Existing had been strange lately. And yet it wasn't strange at all. Just a fact.

Sorry for the bit of spam! Just going through some asks at the moment, I love reading all of your own headcanons and what music you guys associate with the series if you couldn't tell! Makes me super happy, and I just generally love people engaging with it so well, especially when I consider it a really small story in the grand scheme of things- but hey! I'm happy regardless!

I do have some other things brewing as I've said, and I'm so normal about this family... trust... ignore the most where I said I have 17+ individual ideas for just them alone... not including the other people from DC or versions of those ideas that involve other people instead...

When first starting off he fucking hated her, but she was so goddamn persistent and just kept getting back up despite the multiple times he was certain he’d killed her, to the point she’s grown on him like a parasite

She sees him as her ultimate best friend, her ride or die, and he’s flattered…but he definitely doesn’t feel intensely as she does

Like he obviously doesn’t hate her anymore and actually quite enjoys her company. But she also annoys the shit out of him and he often finds himself needing a break from her constant state of “on”. Girl has no off switch

The two of them are often found lounging together and talking random shit, or sparring

She believes that somehow the first time he killed her, it gave her her weird zombie regeneration abilities

And of course she thinks that’s cool as fuck and nearly worshipped the ground he walks on because of it

The more time has passed the more she’s grown to stop feeling like she needs him to function

She went from making herself Jeff’s biggest fan her whole personality to becoming an actual decent person outside of her unhealthy obsession with him
