“I’ve got two arms, don’t I?” Wendy smirked, spinning her axes in her hands just once as a show of skill. It was enough to impress Connie, at least.

“Don’t let them near the twins!”

“You don’t have to tell me twice,” Wendy said, the two women then parting to take on their respective quarries. The angry gremoblins accepted their challenge, the two closest to Wendy coming in with a shoulder tackle from each side. With two mighty swings, Wendy chopped into the arms of the opposing monsters as soon as they got close and used the purchase in their tough hides to lift herself up into the air, where she pulled out one of her axes and climbed onto the back of the gremoblin to her right. “Their skin is as thick as it looks, I hope your sword is as sharp as it looks!”

“Oh, don’t you worry about that, the greatest weaponsmith in all gemkind made this one,” Connie grinned.

it is especially weird to see this in homestuck fic because it is just so very rare for any of the characters in homestuck to

1) know what the fuck is going on with a) themselves b) anyone else c) the universe

2) report on items a through c honestly OR accurately

That post that's like "stop writing characters who talk like they're trying to get a good grade in therapy" really blew the door wide open for me about how common it's become for a character's emotional intelligence to not be taken into consideration when writing conflict. I remember the first time I went to therapy I had such a hard time even identifying what I was feeling, let alone had the language to explain it to someone else. Of course there are plenty of people who've never been to therapy a day in their life who are in tune to their emotions. But even they would have some trouble expressing themselves sometimes. You have to take into account there are plenty of people who are uncomfortable expressing themselves and people who think they're not allowed to feel certain ways. It also makes for more interesting conflict to have characters with different levels of understanding.

We have one chicken, Ginger, who is very adventurous and keeps wandering around to the front of the house - much further afield than any of the others are willing to go.

Unfortunately, she either... isn't AWARE that the others did not follow her, or once she's been out there for long enough she forgets that she wandered away from the others?

So ten to twenty minutes after wandering away, she will start to wail in distress because she is all alone!!! Where did the flock go!!! She will be eaten by a grue!!!

And then Cardamom the rooster gets very concerned also because a hen is in distress, and he will sit on the back doorstep also calling. This continues until either my husband or I goes to the front garden and shepherds Ginger back within sight of the rest.

Still easier to deal with than Fennel, who just screams for no reason. Literally no detectable reason. SCREAM.

As of current? They're enemies once again.

Going to Boarding School forced their hands to become frenemies. It's a bit difficult to hate each other when they had to share a dorm room!! Their truce ended the moment they graduated.

Although Irep and Peri has had much less interactions since they both have very demanding jobs now.

I’ve talked about this before but imagine what it’s like for someone in a country/place where eliot is Top Most Wanted and then your tech guy finds a breakout star baseball player on their visual scanner that looks EXACTLY like spencer. but…there’s no way that’s him, right???

and then the next year it happens again but this time it’s some one hit wonder country singer kenneth crane that has like 78 tween-run fangirl blogs dedicated to him. you see a grainy video of him being chased by a horde of screaming teenage girls and ??? no way Eliot Last Thing You’ll Ever See Spencer is a country singer star just. signing pictures of his face right…?

a few months later your intern shows you footage of an eliot lookalike who is in san lorenzo talking about how there is dog fighting in the presidential palace and you just. sigh. because of course. a scant few days later the political geography of the country changes drastically and damien moreau is imprisoned. …interesting

and then a year of silence goes by. he still shows up as blips on the radar but he must have a good hacker working for him because his tracks on the internet are expertly erased.

every time you ask through interagency channels some random interpol guy talks in (condescending?) riddles at you and it also somehow feels like he’s threatening you

and then your friend who recently got into foreign hockey teams sends you a dropyourgloves video of someone called jacques the bear. you immediately get a headache (and watch some more videos because even you can admit this guy is a good hockey player)

and you know he’s a Bad Guy but it’s been admittedly a bit entertaining seeing what claim to fame he will come upon next. and his most recent actions over the few years make you wonder.

a few months later your phone pings because multiple heads of state evacuated from DC. the reason? eliot spencer was in town. you hear two days later a bioterrorist was taken down by… the report was redacted. your hacker tells you spencer and two teammates were behind the successful operation. which, huh.

not even a full year later it is released that spencer is dead and… you don’t know how to feel.

Poppy for N2 au, it took me so long to make her design cuz I didn't really know what I wanted to do only because I feel like her design is pretty perfect.

But then I just thought about fun outfits to give her or outfits that I would find comfortable if I was wearing them and it all came together.

Poppy here is pretty much the same as here movie counterpart, as nothing really changes on her end of things other than having more insight on Branch through his brothers, and through Lief. Shes also a bit more understanding a bit earlier on because of it but it doesnt do much to change her own character arc I would say.

Part of Poppys design was based off a design I had made for previous rulers of Troll Village/Tree

Namely Queen Protea who I designed as Poppys grandmother

Named after the Protea flower which part of her design is based off :D

In the context of this Au Protea was the one who conceptualized the tunnels while her son, King Peppy, was the one to follow through after her death

Honestly despite my feelings about how the last arc of MHA went down I really love Deku and his story.

I just feel like a lot of the time we get these protagonists whose whole philosophy is it doesn’t matter what you were born as everyone can achieve greatness. But then the series goes on and it turns out that actually it DOES matter because the protagonist has this really great lineage and these really great powers you can only have through birth they were actually born born, predestined if you will, to do this.

But MHA actually sticks to its guns. Midoriya wasn’t revealed to have some great connection to all might that the universe had put in place. He wasn’t defended from some great lineage that makes him uniquely suited to this. Hell All for one didn’t even turn out to be his father, there was no hidden powerful quirk he was always meant to have. He was just Midoriya Izuku a boy who was in the right place at the right time and simply decided to act while the world did nothing. And that’s what really made him a hero.

I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, but I believe him a bit more when he goes anybody can be a hero if you just decide to act
