Feels kind of weird posting my drawings online since I don't really think of what I do as "real drawing". I don't really "draw" draw, I just like to make copies of cartoons sometimes because it feels satisfying and relaxing.

Then again, there is skill involved that took time and effort to cultivate, and "real" drawings do utilize references and copying, so I suppose just because I'm not creating something new doesn't mean I'm not "really" drawing, but I still don't think of myself as on the same level drawing-wise as someone who draws original stuff.

#my hobby isn't drawing it's forgery #in all seriousness this post isn't meant to be self-disparaging in anyway #it's contemplative #i got some very nice praise for my princess tutu drawing that i posted for a joke #and at first i felt like a fraud #but while i was writing a clarifying reblog i started thinking about...well all of the above #no my forgeries (very funny to call them that) aren't the same as original pieces #but there is in fact skill and effort put into them #I've got the terrible forgeries from middle school in my closet to prove it #so maybe... it's alright to accept some praise? maybe that's okay to do #idk #i may be overthinking things #as i am wont to do

Thinking about that series on TikTok where canon batfamily characters meet their fanon counterparts and I think all canon characters would have a sort of disdain to borderline hate for their fanon versions EXCEPT BRUCE. Canon Bruce would be seething with jealousy

Canon Bruce: so you’re saying… most of them live with you. In Wayne manor. And it’s not burned down every week.

Fanon Bruce: yup! All of them except Jason, he and I don’t get along very well you see… he’s always angry with me so the weekly family dinners are always tense ://

hermes in hadestown is the exact opposite of an unreliable narrator. a tortured narrator. a little *too* reliable. incredibly aware of exactly what is happening at any given moment, vaguely spoiling it for you in the beginning, despairing every second of it. but ultimately motivated to continue to tell the story over and over and over with a smiling face for the sake of the audience, and for the sake of the characters themselves, singing it again to keep them alive. knowing how it will end, but singing it again so that the cycle may restart and eurydice may come back to life. enduring the misery of it all, over and over, holding the knowledge of what will come to pass but continuing anyway to see orpheus happy just one more time before it all goes down in flames again.

I think people sometimes misunderstand why we come up with such elaborate justifications for shipping two characters together. I don't justify my ships because I feel that I need to; I justify my ships because squinting at the published canon with furrowed brow and asking myself "okay, how exactly would this work?" is my idea of a good time.
