i was thinking about this since i posted earlier about us needing to address the trend of gen z men being pulled into alt-right pipelines might have contributed to the outcome of this election.
i think contrapoints is really smart, and from what iâve seen, has been way more effective at getting people out of harmful ideological pipelines than iâve seen from the majority of leftists online who instead berate and drive a greater wedge of antipathy (though i understand why! and it can be very hard to have empathy for the people who see you as a threat). that antipathy makes the right more radicalized because they donât feel like they can talk about anything without the âcrazy leftiesâ who wonât even engage with them. where did these issues come from?
what iâve noticed, and iâm even guilty of this, is that people donât interact with groups of people whom they refuse talk to, which makes realities more hypothetical in the minds of their opponent since they arenât open to seeing reality from their perspective. this is true on both sides. from what iâve observed, it seems to originate from hypothetical perception of the opponent, but when people treat those perceptions as though they are real, it becomes real with their actions, which then makes the antipathy justified to someone. again, on both sides.
what makes contrapoints so successful at breaking this down is that is that she creates these socratic dialogue skits that represent real people and ideologies, has a sense of humor, isnât afraid to discuss these things, reframes how we see these things by introducing nuance to both sides. sheâs a leftist, but she also knows how to engage without ripening division, of meeting someone halfway and being completely humble about it. she is able to soften extremes.
she is able to get into the mind of people who arenât aligned with her views, understand the nuance and rationales from a realistic perspective, breaking down a big block of âthis is all badâ into âok, some of this makes senseâŚâ, what this does is create a space for self-reflection that doesnât feel ham-fisted (which could otherwise cause people to double down on their beliefs instead of opening up to other perspectives outside of their bubble). while also being entertaining and well-produced on top of it.
youtube
what she is doing is creating these scenarios and socratic discussions that SHOULD be happening in real life but arenât in this polarized social climate.
i graduated from new college of florida this spring, the small liberal arts college that was in headlines across the country for ron desantisâs board of trustees hostile takeover and exodus of professors.
new students and student athletes from conservative walks of life were being basically incentivized to go there who were taught to fear the lgbt boogeyman growing up in their conservative communities. but once they actually interacted with lgbt students there, many of them they felt like they understood them, and they werenât as bad as they were told they would be. new college of florida was also famous for getting derek black (child of the man who created stormfront, and godchild of the kkk grand wizard david duke) out of white nationalism. their peers at NCF called them out but also interacted with them, invited them to dinner. black wrote a book about it.
now of course some people are too far gone and you shouldnât waste your time with them, like derekâs family for example. but i also think a lot of people who voted for trump are not informed, are operating off of emotion and knee-jerk mentality because itâs easier than thinking, and they are not seeing the discussions that need to be had to change their mind because fuckinâŚnobody is doing them.
and we feel this visceral disgust to people of the opposing party because of its associations. i just want to know how it happened and how we got to be like this. i think social media is partly to blame and also the algorithms that take people down dangerous pipelines and sharpen them, insulate them.
i myself understand the vitriol you might have for anyone that voted for trump. i feel so disappointed that half the people of this country voted against our collective benefit. and iâve seen a lot of sentiment from the left today saying âevery single person who voted for trump is dead to me. i disowned youâ.
you can see the reality of trumpâs demagoguery, and itâs so obvious, but what i want to know is: what do they see? why did they vote for him? emotion and entertainment travel faster and have more reach than reason. and itâs thatâs why i think contrapointsâs videos are exemplary at tackling this ideological divide. this is something iâve been thinking about for months before today and i thought now was a better time than ever to give my two cents on it.

DCxDP fanfic idea: Danny's Did you know?
Danny is a contact creator.
He started off as a kid who wanted to dump info about space or other interests, making it more "Did you Know" as his theme, but his channel really took off the first time he invited a ghost to speak about the era that came before.
No one knows Sidney Poindexter is a ghost. Ghosts usually do not appear on camera; if they do, they are always a blur or barely visible outline. That doesn't come into play when the camera happens to belong to the Ghost King, who is unaware of the title.
Due to this, the ghosts, as his guest stars, turn out to look like normal human beings. There is no glow, no see-through effect, and the only odd thing about them is how they dress.
Even Poindexter's coloring could be explained with some well-done make-up.
They think he's just someone wearing a costume and pretending to be from the 1950s, using information Danny had researched. Danny's interview with Poindexter became an instant hit among those who applauded the genuine authenticity of what the 1950s actually were like.
Not only that, but Poindexter's reactions to modern terms and objects that Danny presents are hilarious to the viewers, as he never once broke character. There is even an entire section where both grumble about the bullying issue in their shared high school.
A particular scene becomes a trending meme.
"Did you know Dr. Seuss coined the word "Nerd" in 1950? He used it in the book If I Ran the Zoo," Danny tells Poindexter.
The other teenager rolls his eyes. "Of course, I knew. It was published in my first year of High school. I was one of the first to be called nerd, you know? It would have been more impressive if it didn't take the entire football team four days to read."
"Four days!?"
"Dr. Seuss's writing style saved the American reading levels back in my day."
"So we have always been stupid, huh?"
Danny's next guest is Johnny 13, a biker from the early 1980s who spends most of his time flirting with Dannyâwho doesn't acknowledge the attemptsâand proudly tells the viewers he may have been there, but he was too poor to know much about the 1980s.
"What were the trends in that era?" Danny asks Johnny after considering his notes.
The biker shrugs. "I think cellphones? They were too expensive for me or my block. Never saw one in real life before I died."
"Well, one trend was waterbeds. Did you know that waterbeds were invented in the 60s? They were made by a design student but weren't popular until the 80s, making them popular for the sudden rise of sex appeal." Danny says with a cheerful grin.
Johnny 13 tilts his head, considering his words. "Radical. I couldn't afford a mattress, much less a waterbed, but I bet they were fun. If you can get your hands on one, I would happily show you how fun they can be."
Danny rolls his eyes and then considers something. "If you couldn't afford a mattress, how did you get your bike then?"
"I stole it. Car theft was effortless back then after hotwiring took off." Johnny's smirk turns dark. "I stole to keep myself fed. Bad luck followed you everywhere when you started at America's rock bottom. Only crime could get you out, and even then, life was shit."
Danny reaches out and pats his shoulder. "At least you got to live through one of the best eras in our history."
"Nah, I died in 1983. I missed it, but do you know who actually got to live it? Ember. She died in 1990."
Next week, Ember strikes an alarming resemblance to the one-hit-wonder singer Ember McLain, who had nearly made it big a few years ago.
"What were the 80s like?"
"Terrible, everyone hated me in school, and AIDS was killing all my friends."
Danny pauses for a long moment, looking horror-struck, until Ember shrugs, "But Glam rock was made popular, which was kind of cool."
"Glam?"
Ember smirked at the host, holding her guitar. "Want to hear some?"
By the end of her performance, everyone was losing their mind that Danny Fenton somehow knew a big name like Ember Mclain, and her music once again started to trend. So much so she released another song called "Lost," dedicated to all her fallen friends who died in the AIDS epidemic.
It goes on and on, with each new video showcasing different times and people from those backgrounds. Tim Drake never misses an episode as a dedicated follower of Danny's Did You Know?
He also thought it was a gimmick to make the show entertaining and thought nothing of the hilarious conversationsânot when the host was such adorable eye candy.
Things are normal until Tim watches Danny interview Greta Hayes, who died in the late 90s. His very dead, very much a ghost teammate who happily tells the story of her life while looking like an ordinary girl for the first time.
It's not even someone dressed up as her. She makes an apparent reference to some slang Bart uses, and a few of the team's inside jokes are sprinkled into the conversation.
Tim feels a headache coming on. After watching the episode, he grinned darkly as he picked up his phone and called Bruce.
"So we may have a problem. Either a necromancer with an insane amount of skill or something similar. We need to go to Amity Park to investigate Danny Fenton."
Bruce sighs. "Tim, I am not helping you stalk your internet crush-"
"It's not stalking. It's detective work!"
#dcxdpdabbles#Danny's Did you know?#Part 1#Dead tired#Danny runs a online talkhost/ info dump#Tim is his fan#The ghosts are his guests#Bruce has been on the receiving end of many âIsn't Danny Fenton so hot!?â rambles from Tim

â° GIVE IT TO YOURSELF NOWâ°
who cares what the 3d is showing you?!?!
A lot of my followers are using the âI AMâ state, inducing pure consciousness to get new lives and when they âfailâ to do so, they get all upset in my dms. But if youâre a god you shouldnât be conforming to the 3d, youâve already been to the âI AMâ state and you already have your dream life!! Are you just gonna sit there and let the 3d tell you whatâs what? seriously? after all the affirming that you are a god of your own reality.
I know circumstances can be so unfavourable and unforgiving, but in the midst of it all i will ask you to close your eyes and give it to yourself. Youâve already shifted consciousness, you are already living your dream life. Who cares what the 3d is showing you, it was never about the 3d and if you canât understand that youâre never gonna progress. Ever.
Imagine yourself as faceless and formless throughout the day, reminding your subconscious that the void and shifting is natural to you. Imagine yourself waking up from the void/âI AMâ state with everything youâve ever wanted, everything youâve scripted, how would you feel, feel it, give it to yourself. Stop punishing yourself for something you see in the 3d.
And when you visualise these things, do not view them as some dream or some fantasy that you wish would happen, when you are visualising inducing pure consciousness and waking up with your desires, you are recounting memories, itâs real life for you, itâs already happened. Relive these visualisations over and over, give it to yourself now, simply because you can.
Youâre here being miserable because it âdidnât workâ. But how do you know that? How do you know it didnât work? Because the 3d said so? Whoâs to say you arenât living your dream life right now? Is the 3d your bitch or is it the other way round? If youre sooo powerful why are you applying yourself to the 3d, why are you conforming to anyone but yourself?
Every time wavering thoughts come about, remind yourself that none of it is real, you are living your dream life. You havenât âaccomplished nothingâ because you are everything, you can choose to live your dream now. Choose to give it to yourself no matter what the 3d says
âiâve been in this community for 2 years and have done nothingâ ⯠âI am a master at inducing pure consciousness and iâve BEEN living my best lifeâ
âi woke up without my desires again⌠it never works for me, no matter how hard i relax, i canât induce pure consciousnessâ ⯠âi ALWAYS enter the void, matter of fact, the void HATES to see me comingâ
*getting sad because the 3d is showing you a reality where youâve woken up with nothing again* ⯠ânuh uh, NOT MY REALITY, the void is my bitch not the other way around, i tap in when ever i want, iâve BEEN had my dream lifeâ
*harsh circumstances hitting you like a ton of bricks* ⯠*close your eyes and visualise the life youâre ACTUALLY living, not this bullshit the 3d is showing you*
the 3d will conform, always, itâs called the LAW of assumption for a reason , not some belief that can be speculated against or some conspiracy that can be mocked. itâs LAW never forget that. if you visualise inducing pure consciousness and waking up with everything, by giving it to yourself in the 4d, the 3d will inevitably follow suit. always.
Youâve BEEN living your dream, what are you talking about? đşđ

I am not closely following the election results tonight, but I am occasionally seeing flashes of them out of the corner of my eye. The most obvious sign that things arenât going well right now is the complete lack of celebrating on my dash. I know what tumblr looks like when itâs happy. Maybe Iâll go to bed tonight and see something different in the morning. I hope to god that is the case. But Iâm thinking about the way Iâm thinking right now, and I want to get some stuff down before the future kicks in.
In 2016 I was in a period of my life I affectionately refer to as as my fuckup era. I wasnât even fucking up really. More just chilling out and falling short of the vague expectations Iâd had about what I was supposed to be doing after I graduated college. While my friends from college rented apartments in the city and got jobs that didnât supply you with a uniform shirt, I lived at home and worked as a barista at a fancy movie theater. Thatâs a real job you can do for almost five years. I didnât have a clue what the back half of my twenties should look like. The only long term plan I had in my life was moving out west with my best friend, and my plan for finding a job once I was out there was basically to cross my fingers and hope.
Those days werenât bad on the whole, but it felt like I was not actually living a life so much as I was goofing off in the waiting room. Sometimes that felt embarrassing, sometimes it felt fun, and sometimes it felt like I was completely pointless to the world.
On 2016âs Election Day, I went to bed early. After watching the votes come in, I needed the night to be over. I woke in a world that felt different than it had been the night beforeânot just in the actuality of who would be president but down to its foundations. I realized for the first time how much hope Iâd had in human nature because now I didnât feel it anymore. Itâs almost silly when I think about itâso many horrible things had already happened that year, people had done horrible things as long as there have been people, and I didnât think I was naive to thatâbut something clicked into place that morning.
It felt the same way my world had changed a year earlier, in 2015 during my last semester of college. My college victory lap felt like a prolonged downward spiral. Very early in the morning on a Monday, after pulling an all-nighter and overwhelmed by self-loathing that I could not just motivate myself to work on a paper that had been my only thought all weekend, I self-harmed for the first time in a way that was impossible to pretend it was anything else. Earlier that weekend, Iâd tried staving off the urges drawing or writing on my arm, something that did (and does) usually work. Iâd written this quote in silver sharpie on my forearm: âGood is not a thing you are. It's a thing you do.â
I picked that quote from the Ms. Marvel comics and liked the words so much, I thought that I wouldnât be willing to purposefully mess it up by hurting myself there. Didnât work. They just made me feel more ashamed of myself as I did it.
That was the worst I had ever felt. Then, on the Friday of that week, a friend of mine was senselessly, brutally murdered.
It doesnât feel now like there was ever a time before her death. My memoir class is now where I wrote about her. My favorite professor is now the one who held me as I cried. My final thesis, the culmination of my history degree, never got finished and certainly never got polished. I turned it what I had and got an A minus. Sometimes I think of rereading that paper to see if thatâs the grade it actually deserved. We hadnât been the closest friends, but my name was still on the email admin sent to professors, listing students who might be emotionally affected by this tragic event. Graceâs murder hangs over every memory I have with her and everything she ever touched. It feels like its own type of obliteration to leave her reduced to her death.
Grace wanted to be a lawyer because she believed in justice and also liked arguing. She could be rude when she wasnât interested in what you were saying. When you caught her attention, you felt like the most fascinating person in the room. She was so proud of being Jewish. I watched her become proud of being gay. She was so universally friendly that it took me a year to realize that she actually liked specifically me. She had a somewhat silly laugh and an astonishingly luminous smile.
I thought less of the world and the people in it because of how she died. Trumpâs election in 2016 felt like that.
After he won, I left stasis. From November through December, I thought harder about my future than I ever had before. Who did I want to be? What did I most value? What did I think was worth protecting? What work wouldnât kill me to do? At one point, in presumably a fit of madness, I thought, âwhat if I got into politics.â Epiphany eventually hit me. By the time of Trumpâs inauguration, I was already enrolled at community college, getting my pre-reqs for nursing school.
Now itâs election night again, eight years later. I live on the west coast with my best friend, in a house that we bought together. I work as a nurse in a hospital in a city where there are homeless encampments off every highway and someone begging for change on every corner. Meanwhile, thereâs Palestine. Meanwhile thereâs Sudan. Meanwhile refugees drown in the sea and border patrol shoots jugs of water. Even hurricanes have human cruelty now.
I donât think people are inherently good or the universe inherently kind. But I am very good at tricking myself into thinking it for a little while, and when I do, I can remember the a specific feeling from Friday of my senior year, from that morning in Novemberâ how fucking hard the disappointment hit me because I had expected people to be better than this. It makes me want to be better than that.
I believe, and hope that I always will, that we can make a better world. I donât know what it looks like, but I think I will see it in my lifetime. Those of us who can believe such things owe a bit of that naĂŻvetĂŠ to the worldânot to excuse atrocities or think them impossible but to believe that we can stop them at all. You have to have a couple people sprinkled around who are genuinely shocked when people do bad things. Itâs not that the pessimists are wrong, but you need the occasional counterbalance. I want to be a reasonable cynicâs pleasant surprise.
Every shift, I interact with people at their lowest and worst. I see the direct pipeline from pain to anger to violence, and how fragile that pipeline can be. So many situations can be changed by things as small as a warm blanket or a kind word. Violence can be quite easy to avert. Crises can be quite simply to resolve. Even when I know that whatever I do that shift will not change the circumstances of a personâs life, I think that what I do that shift still matters.
Iâm lying in bed, writing this post instead of looking at the news. I wonder how tonight will change me. Been thinking about what Iâll do if Trump wins. Been thinking about how whatever I think I need to do under Trump will still need to be done if Harris clutches out a victory. I guess this is a pessimistâs optimism: to a degree the election doesnât matter. Good is not a thing you are. It is a thing you do. Our better world will always take a lot of work.
But please god please, why canât it be just a little easier to do it?

Something I think about and have talked about with dude friends that I grew up with is the ease with which how things could have swung the other way in our teenage years/early adulthood. Like, I have some empathy with incels purely on the basis of, "I know how easy and simple I could have ended up that way, had not various moments happened in my life." Now, this is not Ted Lasso empathy that says people are inherently good no matter what, but actual empathy I'm talking about that says, "ok I get where you're coming from, but you still gotta cut that shit out tho." And the thing that happened was I listened to very loud women that were around me when they were talking about their problems. And when I say I listened, I mean, in person, face to face. It is very different to read a bunch of words on a computer or phone than to hear it told to you the spur of the moment. It is more affecting and harder to dismiss. You will remember what somebody said to you ten years ago, but some bullshit you saw on here will likely be gone in a few hours. Yes, the irony of writing this on a computer for you to probably read on a phone is not lost on me.
But if all you consume is online shit and whatever is on your phone at every given moment, the face to face interaction loses a lot emotional weight, and you start treating real life like online life, and treating people like they're not real people with lives and blood and wants, essentially objects. That doesn't just apply to how young men view women but how they view each other. Apologies for being an old man about this, especially on an online post you might be reading on your phone, but a good deal of the problem is being on the phone all the time. To any young man reading this, get outside, touch some grass, talk to someone you might have nothing in common with, and actually and actively listen, and I will do the same because it is always good advice to make you a better person and part of this real world. The phone will be there when you get back.
I couldn't have said it better myself.

Why I fucking hate "The Handmaid's Tale" comparisons to real life (ie "this means THT is going to come true!!!")
that was not an elected government in the story. it was a fringe group that slaughtered the entire US government and took control by force. which makes little sense if you think about it, but that's because it doesn't matter HOW the dystopia happened; it just had to be there for the fiction to make a comment upon the author's present.
Dystopia is never a future prediction. see above: it's always a comment on the present in which it's written
That is massively fucking insulting to women who have actually lived with systemic oppression. They don't have to take away your name or your ability to read and write or put you in a color-coded costume. That's not what violent systemic misogyny looks like, because we KNOW what it looks like.
Sarah Emerson (1762-1784) could absolutely read. Based on what was expected of wealthy girls in her era, she probably spoke at least two languages- English and some French -as well as having knowledge of household accounting, basic first aid, history, literature, drawing, music, etc. She was still married to a man in his twenties when she was fourteen, because he wanted the inheritance her parents had left her (property she owned because, yes, women COULD own property back then). His family disapproved- they called her "the child bride" -but it still happened.
Women in the 19th century who couldn't vote, were discouraged strongly from public speaking (as in, speeches, not conversation), who sometimes had no control over that property they could in fact own, if they married, did normal things. They laughed and cried and petted cute animals. They spoke their minds. They wore what they wanted, albeit with societal constraints. They had names and voices and they still had so few rights under the law.
Women who died from backalley abortions as late as the 1960s could read and write. They had jobs. They dressed in ways we wouldn't consider remarkable today. They voted. They had access to the fucking pill, for gods' sakes. And yet that still happened to them. And yet they still died because the government didn't care about their lives as much as clumps of cells inside them.
Shirley Jackson (1916-1965) was a popular author with a rapier wit that she wasn't above using freely, living once again in a time we'd recognize many features of today. she married a Jewish man over the objections of...well, most of society back then, really. the nurse still wrote "housewife" for her career when she said "writer," during hospital admission to deliver her daughter Sarah
and that's all without getting into the double-damnations of women who aren't white, who aren't Christian, who aren't straight or cisgender. women in non-western countries where some of those things- like clothing laws or movement restrictions -have come to pass, but still not all and not in that way precisely
It doesn't have to be The Handmaid's Tale. In fact, it usually isn't, historically speaking. It's Call the Midwife. It's Harlots. It's Hidden Figures. it's Carol. It's astonishingly normal, among normal women living relatively normal- even happy lives, many of them.
Don't insult their memories by implying that it has to be speculative fiction to be real.
#long post#misogyny#systemic misogyny#abortion#and I even LIKE The Handmaid's Tale! I've been watching it a lot lately precisely because it's so fantastical that#it doesn't scare me#it's less realistic than something like (again) Call the Midwife which I have been avoiding like the plague

i'm putting an end to it all tonight. i cant take it anymore. im sorry
as a long time follower of this blog i just want to thank you for what little joy your blog gave me. it was an honor knowing you. may you be better off than i am.
goodbye.
I can't actually stop you if you're determined, but I do want to say that this is an incredibly shitty thing to do to me personally. I really really would like you to not do this but jesus christ I'm a real human being who runs an animal blog and I'm not at all equipped to deal with the equivalent of a suicide note from a random stranger.
suicide solves nothing and leaves a wound that will never heal in everyone not just who is close to you but who is in your general proximity. strangers who normally see you on their little routines will miss you and wonder what happened. I'm going to remember this the rest of my life.
seriously, try to stick it out a few more days to see if it gets better. call 988 if you're in the US.

ââââ âą â â° Evidence of a criminal bond- part one
â âš âą â â° âš â
enemies to lovers at the detectives office
Jeon Jungkook has been your annoying coworker at the detective´s office for what feels like ages. What happens when he gets assigned as your partner against crime for seouls´s ongoing case of the masked serial killer? Will a vulcano and a tornado manage to find peace in each others chaos, while trying to catch the person responsible for the horror unleashed upon the nation?
content warning: please keep in mind this au revolves around the job as a criminal detective, therefore dealing with darker topics, including sensitive topics such as SA, m^rder, assault, robbery, blackmail, sex work, trauma, therapy.
A large portion of this work is fiction, while some aspects also have valid foundations in actual crime cases as well as psychologically related crime studies and research
further content: slow burn, angst, misunderstandings, comfort, eventual smut, trying to work it out for each other, a lot of plot/work focus, side characters such as officer Kim Namjoon and criminal psychologist Park Jimin, good ending
no taglist! - sorry for misspellings and typos!!
â âš âą â â° âš â
6:53 am
Static buzzing sounds around the entire office, a hasty jog through the chattered people and with a slam of your big leather bag to your slightly decorated desk, finally, you arrive at work.
the ordinary, bustling with people in cool blazers and coffes, couple cops and a large story board cluttered with red marker and pictures, at least that's what the countless shows make it out to be,
it wasn't like that in real life
While, surely, there are an array of different people having serious conversations, while there may the occasional cop visit, this whole, rushed overly analyzed office doesn't come close to your neat workspace.
Days mostly consist of reading through the piles upon piles of boring paperwork left by your superiors and attorneys, or investigating some string of robberies that are operated by biker gangs,
Some prostitution rings disguised as karaoke bars or massage parlors,
Nothing like a serial killer, no nothing even close has hit your very own, very organized desk in the span of your bloomed carreer
In fact, seoul hasn't seen an unpleasant visitor like that in 30 long years, three full decades
Wind rushes through the heated room as a window opens down the hall, most likely in an effort to flush out the stress that spans throughout the people- yesterdays events have left the investigation sleepless, having seen the on scene cops and crime scene investigators while passing through the door,
It was fairly easy to tell who it was,
a souless, empty glaze clouds their colorful irises- dark, deep circles making it clear that these people were there when it happened
"What the fuck did you do Hwang?"
your head shoots up, locking eyes with someone you did not wish to see right when starting your shift- with the entire department working on a serial killer case, irritated and occupied with following a majority baseless leads- the last thing you need is him.
"Thats quite the different tone from yesterday Jeon"
he scoffs, cocking his head while pushing his hands deeper into the pockets of his darkwash jeans
"Yeah? Well i called you and-" he sighs, "Explicitly told you not to take the case didn't I?" you nod, irritated at his obvious anger that you knew you had absolutely no business in,
you didn't take the case, hell, you had just arrived at the office
"look, it's too early to blame your issues on me-"
"Blame?" the disbelief in his tone messes with your already risen cortisol, only deepening the wrinkles of your frown, probably prolonging the sprouting of grey hair on your scalp.
"Hwang? Jeon? You already received the order?"
The monotone voice of your superior, also known as chief, makes both of your heads turn to face him in all his pale, 6'2" middle aged glory, the suddeness creating a small Oasis of peace between the two of you, stopping your petty argument for a bit
You had now wished that this blatant, confusing misunderstanding will be easily dissolved,
"There must have been a mix up" he states, his face curling into the typical shit eating grin that is etched into his features, like clockwork, it always appeared whenever he thought he was in the right.
the bubble of hope bursts in a split second, stabbed in full force
"As partners?" you blurt out, eyes practically bulging from your skull, the absurd implication of being Jungkook's partner makes your chief sigh, nodding his head in something you can only label disappointment
"Yes. I deem both of you as highly qualified, young individuals. i'm sure i don't need to remind you how serious this is" the chief explains, the same monotone voice now sounding like a cruel joke, however the lack of sleep and evident annoyance plastered on his face doesn't allow room for further complications
As expected, it earns him a shake from Jungkook's head, looking down and taking a breath to prepare himself to complain,
You were faster,
"We will do it. Thank you chief"
your heartbeat hammers in your chest, almost making you feel sick,
It isn't solely that now, you're being responsible for this huge nation wide case,
As abstract and insignificant as it may sound, alongside that, you're facing the difficult task of working with detective Jeon
"I am relying on your ability to stay professional and not let your personal fuedes get in the way" chief gestures his fingers between the two of you, resting his droopy eyes half lidded on yours, haunted by the Terrors of the previous night as he strides off,
Looking over to you newly aquired partner, he looks back at you with a clenched jaw, meeting your tranquill gaze as he speaks,
"Unbelieveable"
11:23 pm
You find out that working with him is in fact, difficult.
15 long hours had passed since your mangled, conjoined mess of what can be roughly considered as partnership had started,
This would have been hundretfold less hair pulling without the countless complains and microagressions,
"Can you move? I can't read this"
you huff, pushing the rolling chair further to the side of your desk, creating even more of a chasm beetween your two bodies,
This reffering to the monster of a case file that had ben handed to you- consisting of every possible report, witness statement, newspaper, autopsy report, possible subject you name it,
it was there- written somwhere in the horribly unorganized pile of paperwork
It slumps down your heavy shoulders, weight down by the hope and responsibility over the country,
"I can't get a read on this bastard" he utters, shutting his eyes. The same frustration that courses through your veins also shows on him and the way he rubs his forhead with his large hands,
The issue is, surprisingly there is nothing in this everything,
"Me neither. The witness statements all contradict themselves and there isn't anything helpful in the other reports" he watches you erratically reorganize the papers for the hundreth time, humming in agreement,
While you had been sitting at this bitingly cold, empty office for the past 15 hours, analyzing every line- reading between them, speculating upon the relevancy of each syllable, on duty officers are being chased around the city like headless chicken, led by baseless tips that somehow- always end up in sheer nothingness.
Nonetheless, you had read every word, soaked up ever piece of Informationen like a greedy sponge without a filter,
Jungkook is on his third cup of coffee, stratically pacing his caffeine intake to maximise his ability to stay awake,
"The department that had this case before us were nutjobs" he says, making you let out a small laugh, a rare occasion which cuts through tension and inevitable irritation that corresponds with this unexpected partnership
A long sigh of desperation follows as you recall what you have managed to gather in the past 15 hours, recalling the possible profiling there is to make on your killer,
Witnesses all contradict each other apart from stating that the victims had been in contact with an ominous man previous to their deaths caused by the rivers ghost- that man presumably being him
"All we have is his patterns. Women, all dismembered and thrown in the river" you tell him, leaning back in your chair with your arms crossed over your chest,
he nods, granting you a look,
"Very throughly dismembered it says in the autopsies, clean cuts at the right spots. That sick creep must be a surgeon or something" jungkook adds, swiping through his hair
"Yeah, or a butcher" you agree, retracting your mind to the details of the killings. There had been no traces of dna found any where on the crime scene, no hair, fingerprints even scraps of clothes- something rarely seen in murders no matter how premeditated- even if the perpetrator had worn gloves, leaving without a speck is practically impossible,
how does he do it?
Aditionally, by how meticulously dismembered the body parts were, it transmitts the notion that the killer must be experienced,
"Possibly cumpulsions? He's uncharactaristically clean" your question makes jungkook think for a second, contemplating, "i figured. But that usually implies a history of mental illness"
"Yeah, and that narrows it down if he's on file"
you pause, "We should look into that"
He hums before turning the bright screen of your pc torwards him, guiding the mouse along the pad,
"The only reliable witnisses we have are the on scene cops. Let me write a email for an interview" he whispers, prominently groaning as you pry the mouse away from his hands, rolling your eyes at him
"Let me write it, it's my pc" your voice falls into a lower grumble,
"Oh okay miss, didn't know i couldn't use your pc, partner" jungkooks lips turn into a mocking grin, you lamely tell him to shut up
he pushes himself away from the desk, sliding the rolling chair back as he releases himself from the suffocating shakles of a long shift,
"I'm leaving. Another hour of this and i'm going insane" as he puts on his thick black coat, the dim light above you flickers, without a further note, his presence leaving subsides, resulting to your solitude inside the four walls of the eceptionally empty, staticly buzzing office
Your fingers type away at the keyboard, the blue, bright light eliciting from the screen strains your exhausted eyes with all their might, in the email directed towards your loyal friends and helpers, you´re practically begging them for an interview the following day
As you finally press send, your face crashes down into your hands- fingers rubbing the crumbled remains of what once was your mascara into your skin, highlighting the lack of rest you so clearly suffer from
With the obnoxiously loud sound of heels clicking on the floor and the shutting of the floor hall doors, the department falls entirely empty,
gushes of frosting wind hit your skin upon your exit already inhaling the smoke from your freshly lit cigarette, you attempt to make the trainride home to pass in the blink of an eye by disassociating into thought, thoughts that expectedly, revolve around what you had spend the past hours of existance with,
It felt surreal, that he must be out here right when you are as well,
In the same city, inhaling the same polluted air
"This stupid woman"
Jungkook pulls into his usual spot down at the apartment block, the tall lights shining a oddly comforting, yellow glimmer on his street
His hands slam on the steering wheel, blowing out air from his puckered lips as his head falls back- final relief, while simultaneously, dreading to be back at work in a meer time of 7 hours
Reverting back to the thought of you, he curses underneath his slightly labored breath,
he doesn't hate you- at least that what he tells himself, in all rationality, his unfounded fascination with your patheticly annoying "i can do it all" attitude is precisely that, unfounded
The keys jingle between his rough fingers, revealing his dark apartment, before a very hungry- playful Doberman greets him with a jump and about a million licks to his hands,
"heeyy bam.. you hungry bro?" Bam barks and Jungkook giggles in return, throwing his coat onto the hanger while the dog strides happily torwards the empty food bowl
On the other side of town, a siren blares- red, blue lights reflect on your fogged up kitchen window as the vehicle speeds down the road,
both of you silently prayed that it wouldn't be his fault once again

When trans elder, activist, and organizer Miss Major was imprisoned in the 70s, she was put in solitary confinement. Also in solitary confinement at the time was Frank "Big Black" Smith, iconic Black Panther and organizer of the Attica rebellion.
Miss Major said of Big Black, âHeâs the one that let me know that during things like the riot or getting justice doneâstuff lke thatâyou canât throw anybody under the bus. You can't leave anybody behind. And thatâs become my favorite thing to say to people: I wonât throw anybody under the bus, and Iâm not leaving anybody. It has to include us all, or itâs not going to work.â
It has to include us all, or itâs not going to work.
Sontarangaming
Also, on top of everything else, this operates on the same principle as retributive justice vs restorative justice, in that only one of these plans has a real endgame. Lateral violence happens because we view problems in relative termsâand thereâs no way around that. And when youâre approaching issues by trying to eliminate the Bad Things, your brain has a way of making those smaller issues feel big, and it becomes cathartic to rip at that problem and feel like youâre doing your part. Issue is, if you donât focus on the constructive side of your activism, you end up losing the plot in favor of that catharsis.
Two examples of this from different sides of Discourse would be transmeds, who spend time worrying about who is and isnât trutrans, and the people harassing celebrities with queerbaiting accusations. In both cases, there are some legitimate grievances, and ironically enough, theyâre shared grievances a lot of the time. Both are concerned with the ways that their community is othered and marginalized, and they want to do something about that. But in both cases, they focus on individual, small scale perceived issues, and try and tear down those accessible, small issues, rather than look upwards and see the shared enemy of heteronormative patriarchy that creates these issues in the first place.
In both of these cases, you can tell the issues with their approach by looking at their natural conclusions and seeing where they lead, which in both cases is queer spaces and identity being inaccessibly obscure and heavily gated. Comparatively, if a constructive approach is taken, the opposite happens: if, instead of gatekeeping transition to reserve it for the right people, you encourage people to experiment with their gender identity and expression for their own comfort, you solve the potential issue of people transitioning before theyâre ready or certain, without the same shitty side effects. If you encourage people to present how they want, you destigmatize femininity and men and masculinity in women, which benefits everyone.
sealpup9
Also, if your goal is just "finding the next enemy" it's easy to get pulled into the mindset that there is always a scapegoat. And the step after that is literally rallying against groups of people... You see where this is going.
Our goals should always be to improve the lives of those around us. Treating people well and rallying with folks for better treatment. The "Us vs. Them" mentality will just cause damage in the long run and can get you into the habit of looking for enemies. When in actuality we all deserve rights and the ability to live life without issues. Doing little things to help people around you is a good place to start :)
I really do think an important component of activism is to make sure your motivation is based on a desire to help/improve things for the people being harmed by a system, and not hatred for the ones doing the harm. both for mental health reasons, and because either way you're training your neural pathways and it's gonna turn out a lot better for literally everyone if the question on everyone's mind after achieving a goal is "how/which people can we help next, what's the next step for improving things" and not "who do we need to attack next."
I'm not saying don't be angry, there are a lot of good reasons to be angry right now and it makes for an excellent kick in the pants, just don't define yourself by it or it's gonna poison you and potentially do collateral damage.
#itâs spiritually important to humanize your enemies#not because theyâre never bad or itâs always wrong to hurt them#but because hurting people is always a cost and should only be done when absolutely necessary#you need to feel the weight of that cost for the sake of your soul

Romance ClichĂŠs With: Idia Shroud
ClichĂŠ: The Dramatic Save
Others: Leona ; Vil ; Azul ; Kalim
The thing about Idia is that heâs very used to lurking in the background. Life is much simpler that way. But ever since youâd started spending more time with him, heâd found himself in the wildest, most "otome game" situations imaginable. And today? Today topped them all.
Youâd been standing together in the courtyard, him telling you about his latest game finds, hands shoved into his pockets as he tried not to fidget too much. It was rare he got to hang out with someone he, uh, actually wanted to hang out with, so his nerves were pinging off the charts.
Thatâs when it happened.
With zero warning, a large, heavy textbook teetered off the edge of a windowsill above and began its rapid descent towards Idiaâs head. He didnât notice; he was too busy stammering about his latest high score. But you did.
In one swift move, you threw yourself across the space between you and practically flew through the air, hands outstretched like some overdramatic action hero.
You managed to get between him and the descending missile (okay, just a textbook, but in the moment, it was deadly), and though the impact wasnât as dramatic as youâd pictured, you still managed to shield him with your entire being, shoving him safely aside.
By the time he realized what was going on, you were already fussing over him. âOh my gosh, are you okay?! Did it hit you anywhere?â
He blinked, processing what just happened as you started checking his head for bumps, squinting at his shocked face. âUh⌠w-what?â he stammered, brain catching up about three seconds too late. âDid⌠did you just⌠jump in front of me?â The look of awe on his face was equal parts adorable and ridiculous.
âWell, obviously!â You laughed, still fussing, hands on his shoulders. âAre you alright?â
Idiaâs mouth opened and closed as he tried to process the sheer amount of romance that just smacked him in the face. You, his crush, his dream come to life, had gone full protagonist, for him. It was like the best tropes had all collided in his brain at once, and it was overwhelming in the best way possible.
âN-No oneâs ever done something like that⌠f-for meâŚâ he mumbled, cheeks reddening as he stared at you with this helpless, smitten look.
You tilted your head, a soft smile crossing your face. âWell, Iâd do it again if it meant keeping you safe, Idia.â
Somewhere in his brain, the confetti cannons were going off. The âlove meterâ hit max. The screen flashed âTRUE ENDINGâ in bold, sparkly letters. He knew it was all real, but a tiny part of him felt like heâd accidentally triggered some hidden route with a secret character, and that character was you.
And before he could stop himself, the words tumbled out of his mouth in a rush. âI think Iâm in love with you. Like, maybe have been for a while. Youâre like, the one or something, andâoh my god, why am I saying this out loudââ
He clamped a hand over his mouth, wide-eyed, as if he could just take it back if he tried hard enough. But instead, he saw you looking at him, your smile widening as you took his hand, gently pulling it down.
âYou mean it?â you asked, a bit of awe creeping into your voice.
He couldnât look at you, his eyes darting everywhere except your face as he mumbled, âY-Yeah, I mean, yeah, I do. I canât believe youâre real, honestly, this feels like a fever dream, butââ
Before he could talk himself out of it, you leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to his lips, quick and sweet. It was enough to short-circuit his brain, and when you pulled back, he just blinked, stunned, frozen like his internal processing unit had just maxed out.
âDoes that answer your question?â you teased, unable to hold back a little laugh at his flustered expression.
âUh-huh,â he finally managed, a dopey smile creeping onto his face as his brain rebooted. âY-Yeah⌠yes.â He cleared his throat, trying to seem cooler, but the blush on his cheeks was a dead giveaway.
And as you both stood there, your hands still linked, he felt like the luckiest player in the worldâlike heâd stumbled upon the rarest, sweetest route of them all, and he wasnât letting go anytime soon.

Remember, Thou Art Barnacle
A serenity prayer for election day.
Originally posted on my website.
The Ann Selzer Iowa poll, regarded as the gold standard in all of political polling, shows Harris is up +3 in a state that Trump won by +8 in 2016 and by +9 in 2020.Â
And you are a barnacle.Â
The election better markets have Trump up by +19 (as of noon EST, 11/5/24), and bettors donât care if people are ashamed to admit who theyâre voting forâtheyâre in it for the money and only the money.
And you are a barnacle.Â
Mainstream pollsters have admitted to weighting their polls heavily in favor of Trump, to ensure they donât end up with egg on their face like they did in 2016 and 2020 again. International whales are taking out huge bets in favor of Trump, swinging the markets, and right wing think tanks are flooding the zone with bullshit polls to artificially inflate Trumpâs odds in the aggregate. And even if the popular vote is overwhelmingly for Harris, Trumpâs team is already laying the narrative groundwork to support a Stop the Steal campaign that, by the time you read this, will likely already have started.Â
All of that is true.Â
And you are still a barnacle.Â
You are not piloting the ship. You are not the captain of the ship. You are not laying out the potential courses the ship could take, you are not deciding which course the ship will take, you are not scouting ahead.Â
You arenât even a paying, ticket-holding passenger on the ship. You are a barnacle on the hull, deep underwater, and unfortunately, there isnât really anything you can individually do to affect where this ship goes. Sorry!Â
This isnât an invitation to check out, or become apathetic, or (heaven forbid) embrace doomerism. Quite the opposite: this is a reminder of who you actually are in this entire scenario, of the power you do not have, and of the power you definitely do.Â
After the 2016 election, some small part of myself was convinced I could change the outcome if I just posted hard enough. If I fought enough of my friends on Facebook, texted angrily, and tweeted from enough protests and rallies, somehow Trump would no longer be President-elect.Â
All it did was, literally, give me a rash. I got so angry for so long that my skin started to break out in hives. A doctor friend more-than-half seriously prescribed that I âget the fuck off Facebookâ until my skin returned to normal. Trump was still President-elect, the next 8 years happened the way they did, and here we are today.Â
Youâre going to hear a lot today: polls are tightening! Votes still arenât in from this critical precinct! If these trends hold, then we can expect to know something by such-and-such a time! The race is as tight as can be! White supremacists are threatening violence to avenge a dead squirrel!Â
(The squirrel thing is 100% real, and my god, I really wish I was joking.)Â
Remember, through all of it, that you are not the captain of the ship. You are a barnacle on its hull, and there is very little you can personally do to change it at this point. Youâve already done all you can doâor maybe you havenât, but even then, youâve already done all youâre going to do.Â
And as you stress, and consider how inebriated youâre going to get, and decide on which web pages youâll be refreshing every thirty seconds, and stress out some more, remember too that Donald Trump hasnât ever won the popular vote in his entire miserable life. He only won the electoral college, a racist system explicitly designed to empower slaveholders in southern states, one time, and ever since then, he has lost every election heâs declared for.Â
More people did vote for the woman candidate the last time one ran for President, and more people have voted for the candidate of color than their opponent every single time a person of color has run for President on a major party ticket.Â
And women have already made up a larger share of early voting than men in this, the first general election post-Dobbs, than ever before in American history. (53% women to 44% men.)Â
So as you stress and consider your inebriates and say to yourself, âHow can it possibly be this close?!â for the umpteenth time today, remember too that Donald Trump is a fascistic, deeply unpopular person (let alone President) backed by an even more deeply weird party, and that almost the entirety of your experience of this election is being filtered through the lens of a national, for-profit media that doesnât care who wins, so long as you keep watching.Â
Remember, you are not the captain of the ship, you are not the helmsman, you are not the map-maker.Â
You are a barnacle.Â
Vote for Harris, vote Democrat in your local and state races, and trust your other barnacles.

Amity Parkers moving to Gotham for college. Sam and Paulina pooling their trust funds together to buy an abandoned hotel and fitting it as apartments for everybody. They all train together in the courtyard to keep their skills up and just because it's fun. Suddenly an influx of super competent self-trained (or maybe ghost-trained) young adults.
Everybody having their little niches and suddenly they all have more free time that's not being taken up by ghost attacks so many of them started different YouTube channels with info they found out from the ghostly residents of Amity. Star and Paulina running a history of beauty channel going over makeup, hair styles and fashion, special guest Sam when going over alt fashions. Dash and Kwan running one on the history of sports. Wes and Mikey running a conspiracy theory podcast. Valerie running a martial arts channel. Danny just info-dumping about space and spacecraft in videos that range from 45 minutes to four hours. Tucker running a how-to channel for fixing tech and coding. Sam running a combination true crime and witchy channel. The Trio running a Let's Play channel.
Ghostly things happening in all of the videos and everybody guesting on everybody else's channels leads to everybody thinking it's all an elaborate ARG. Danny just floating through the walls half-asleep with a glowing shaker bottle in the background. Some of them when they're in the middle of a rant seem to forget to take a breath or their eyes or freckles start glowing. On a livestream Paulina snaps at somebody off screen and her eyes are suddenly glowing green. Danielle pops in during a charity livestream that the Trio are running and calls Danny-Daddy, Sam-Mom, and Tucker-Dad and is just floating on the back of the couch. Danny doing a stream to watch a rocket take off and suddenly a robe and crown flash and he disappears in a flash of green and the stream is just dead space until the rocket's about to take off and Danny comes running in and jumps over the back of his chair to watch it and cheer.

25 Days Later â p.sh
Continuation of 25 Days Later
pairing: ethical serial dater!sunghoon x fem!reader
genre: angst, fluff, fake to real relationship trope
synopsis: For Park Sunghoon, relationships should remain uncomplicated. With life already filled with complexities, he believes that dating should only last for twenty-five daysâjust enough time to enjoy each other's company before parting ways. And thereâs Yoon Y/n, who was driven by her curiosity rather than romance, finds herself intrigued by Sunghoon's unconventional plan, prompting her to join him for these twenty-five days. Yet, beneath their playful interactions, an unpredictable tension hints that things may not be as simple as they appear.
word count: 4k
warnings: EXTREME FLUFF! hoonâs a sweet heart (iâm goona cry), mentions of accidents, someone died, hoon being jealous, very very very slight angst. Grammatical and typographical errors ahead!
a/n: Itâs finally done! I had a lot of troubles writing this fanfic and experienced many, MANY (MANY) breakdowns throughout the process, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
I really really hope that yaâll would enjoy reading this as much as I did writing it. đŤśđť
REBLOGS AND FEEDBACKS WOULD BE HIGHLY APPRECIATED!
here you go, bae @zara2318 đ§đťââď¸
Day 25
If Jake and the others were to see him now, they'd probably laugh. He was hardly recognizable as the Park Sunghoon they knew. The old him wouldn't have bothered chasing after a woman who clearly didn't want him anymore. But he couldn't shake the feeling that it wasn't that simple for you to break things off.
Fine, maybe he was being arrogant. But you had shared something special with him.
Why would you do that if he meant nothing to you?
No, he refused to believe that what happened between you two was just a fleeting moment brought on by the storm.
And you weren't the type to take such a bold step without good reason. You weren't someone who'd make such a move lightly. He couldn't accept that he was just a passing fascination, a curiosity you explored only to move on to the next person. No, it wasn't that shallow.
Alright, maybe it was just his pride speaking, but he wasn't ready to let go. Not yet.
Today, he planned to convince you to give things another chance.
He just hoped you'd agree.
His brow furrowed as he spotted a black sedan parked in front of your house. Slowly, he pulled up beside the unfamiliar car and got out.
Just then, he saw you coming out, laughing with Jiwon, who was following behind. Your smile faded the moment you noticed him, and for a brief second, silence filled the air.
"Hey, man," Jiwon finally broke the tension. "How's it going?"
Fuck off.
He could've said that. But he didn't and just glanced at him briefly and gave him a nod, and then looked back at you.
"Are you heading somewhere?" he asked, despite his racing heart.
"I'm just walking Jiwon to his car."
Sunghoon nodded. "I'll wait for you."
"Ah, I actually have a client waiting on the other side," you explained, referring to the funeral home.
Your voice and gaze pleaded with him.
"Just a quick chat. Five minutes maximum, please,âSunghoon urged, watching as you considered.
"Alright," you finally agreed. "I'll just walk Jiwon to his car."
"Catch you later, man," Jiwon said, giving a friendly nod.
Sunghoon didn't go inside. Instead, he waited by the door, observing your interaction with Jiwon. He couldn't hear what you were saying, but he saw you laugh at something, and a pang of jealousy hit him.
Why was it so hard for him to see you happy with someone else?
His fists clenched and his jaw tightened when he saw Jiwon give you a hug and a quick kiss on the cheek before getting into his car. You stood there, watching as he drove off. Sunghoon took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. He knew he had no right to feel jealous and needed to get his emotions under control.
You turned to him at last. "Let's go inside," you said, leading him in.
"I thought we already cleared things up yesterday?" Your face was expressionless, the opposite of how you'd looked while talking to Jiwon, and that irritated him even more.
"So, is he the one you're replacing me with?" he asked, his voice tense.
You raised an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed. "And you knowing the answer to that question is important because?"
Sunghoon swallowed hard. "Y/n, I want another chance." You raised an eyebrow, prompting him to continue. "I believe what we had was something special. You're definitely not like the other girls I've dated."
You crossed your arms. "And?"
"And you said you appreciated honesty. If you're truly being honest with yourself, youâd recognize that what we had was unique."
"Can you just get to the point?" you said, your impatience showing as you glanced at your watch. "I have a client waiting."
Under different circumstances, you might have laughed at the idea of your so called âclientâ really waiting for you as if it would grow frustrated when you took too long. But he seemed anxious about it and his words spilled out. "I want another shot. Another twenty-five days with you." You paused, staring at him, before letting out a soft, humorless laugh, your eyes starting to water.
"You really are a hopeless case, Park Sunghoon." You looked down, discreetly wiping your eyes. "Just go home. I need to get back to work."
He reached out to grab your hand, trying to stop you from leaving. "Wait, you havenât given me your answer yet."
"Seriously?" You rubbed your face in exasperation, then you locked eyes with him, tears welling up. "No, Sunghoon. My answer is no. And please, stop coming back here." You stormed out, slamming the door behind you.
You were still feeling down while working on the body of a forty-two-year-old woman who had died from bone cancer. She had implants in her breasts and buttocks that needed to be removed, making the task labor-intensive, which was fine with you. You preferred to stay busy at that moment rather than let your mind wander back to Sunghoon. You were irritated enough as it was.
You sang along to an Ariana Grande song while your hands were busy dressing the body in a white gown.
"Leave that, Y/n," your mother said as she entered the preparation room. It seemed she was going to take care of the remains of a child who had died in a car accident. "Sunghoon is waiting for you at home."
Your expression soured further, and you continued working. You started applying makeup to your clientâs face. "You could have just sent him home. We talked earlier, and there's nothing left to discuss."
"Is there a problem between you two?" She began gathering supplies to clean the body.
"I donât know about him," you replied.
"Have I mentioned that heâs been here almost every day for the past few days?" she said. "He says you arenât answering his calls or texts. Heâs really worried about you."
You grimaced at the mental image of him. "He probably canât accept that I broke up with him before our twenty-five days were up."
"Why did you break up so quickly, anyway? Didnât you enjoy his company?"
You sighed and adjusted the skirt of the body. "Mom, can we talk about this later? I feel like itâs disrespectful to our clients to gossip about that jerk."
Your mother chuckled softly. "Alright, weâll talk later. I just need to finish this up."
After a few minutes, you completed your task. "Iâll be in the office," you said before leaving her in the preparation room. You tidied yourself up and headed to your motherâs office, only to find your father there.
"Oh, too bad. Sunghoon just left."
You secretly frowned. You thought you would need to wait over an hour before facing the conversation about him. Apparently, you didnât need to wait for your mother to finish after all; here was yet another person ready to pry.
âWe already talked,â you said while booting up your laptop, hoping that if you acted busy, your dad wouldnât ask too many questions.
After a brief silence, you glanced over at him. You met his intense gaze, as if he were scrutinizing you.
âWhat?â you asked, a bit anxious.
He smiled. âI always say that âlife is shortâ is the most valuable lesson we learn from this business. But thereâs something even more significant.â
Ah, yes. You found this kind of discussion preferable. You would rather engage with a philosophical funeral director than a curious father.
âWhatâs the more important lesson?â you inquired.
âFor me, realizing that life is short has taught me not to hold back my feelings. Itâs vital for me to express my love for you all. I donât want to look back with regret for not telling you how much you matter to me.â
You had heard this from him countless times before, but it was alrightâeven if it was repetitive, as long as the conversation didnât veer towards the guy you dated for twenty-five days.
You nod to keep the conversation going. âYour mom, since life is short, prioritizes the eternal life in heaven, which is why she's religious.â He smiled. âDaehi enjoys his life and pursues her dreams because she understands her time is limited.â You shrug. âWeâre both the same.â
Your father shakes his head. âThatâs not all youâve learned.â He moves closer to you. âYouâre hesitant to commit fully to anythingâa job, a personâbecause you fear youâll be miserable when theyâre gone.â
You blinked, feeling a lump in your throat. Clearing your throat, you joked, âDad, why didnât you tell us you took Psychology class?â
âI think this explains why you often change jobs, courses, and interests; youâre reluctant to fully commit to just one. Why didnât you feel pain when your relationships ended, Y/n? Was it because you didnât really love them? You never allowed yourself to get attached because, deep down, you believed they would leave you eventually.â
The memory of your first client on the embalming table surfaces, the mother in tears over the dreams that were lost with the death of her eldest child.
But what stuck in your mind was the image of the deceased man's girlfriend, nearly beside herself with grief. Misery shone in her eyes. You later learned that she was pregnant at the time. You didnât want to experience that kind of pain. If love could end like that, you wanted no part of it.
Your eyes burned with emotion. âIsnât it natural for anyone to avoid pain, Dad? Itâs survival of the fittest, right?â
Your father stepped closer and gently stroked your hair. âBut living without love isnât really living at all, my child. And pain is a part of love. We must accept that.â
Well, all your reservations about loving seemed pointless now. Despite your previous reluctance to love fully, it happened anyway. You fell in love.
While you were busy enjoying your dates and casual conversations, you were completely unaware that the man had already took your heart. The irony was that you, who feared falling in love, ended up in love with someone who couldnât truly love back. For Sunghoon, relationships lasted only twenty-five days; after that, all feelings expired, and it was time to move on to the next.
That was just how it was.
That's why you avoided the guy; you realized you were already in love with him. You couldnât even bear to imagine a line of people like Yuri waiting to catch Sunghoon after your breakup. The thought of him with someone else was unbearable.
And now, it was happeningâthe very thing you feared: getting hurt.
Ah, damn it. This was all Sunghoonâs fault!
Is it possible to un-fall for someone? If only it were that easy.
Day 26
He roughly ran his hands over his face, even tugging at his hair in frustration. "Fuck! Is karma getting back at me?"
He looked up, staring blankly at the ceiling as he recalled Y/n's beautiful face-the sweet smile, the lively laugh, the softness of her hair, the smoothness of her skin, and that nightâŚ
After that, he remembered what you looked like the last time you spokeâhow you held back your tears, the sadness in your eyes, and the words you said that pierced his heart...
"You really are a hopeless case, Park Sunghoon. Just go home. I need to get back to work."
"No, Sunghoon. My answer is no. And please, stop coming back here."
Why is he such a mess?
"I want another shot. Another twenty-five days with you."
Thatâs what he requested from you...
Who would be pleased with that!?
Heâs such an idiot! Thatâs not what he truly wants from you. He doesnât want just twenty-five days; he wants twenty-five thousand days with you. Or even better, twenty-five thousand lifetimes with you.
It seems heâs finally discovered a love similar to that of his parents.
Sunghoon no longer cares about what his friends think. Heâs ready to admit to anyone that heâs given in and canât make any more excuses: he loves you wholeheartedly.
He chuckles at himself now. Why was it so difficult to accept that before? Is there anything wrong with falling in love with a beautiful, kind, and intelligent woman?
Speaking of you, he needs to talk to you and share his feelings before you completely turn away and choose a conceited lawyer instead.
He saved his work and shut down his computer. He quickly took a shower and got dressed. And within minutes, he was driving. If he could, he would push his car to the limit just to reach you faster.
He was eager to see you.
He was almost there. The sign for Yoonâs Funeral Service was in view, and he was about to see the woman he missed so much.
He pressed the gas pedal harder, lost in thoughts of her, when suddenly a motorcycle cut in from the side. Sunghoon swerved to avoid it, but a streetlight appeared in front of him. Before he could react again, his car crashed into it. A loud crash filled his ears as he lost consciousness.
â
You wouldnât have noticed that you were staring at the picture of you and Sunghoon on your phone if you hadnât heard Daehi calling out to you.
âWhatâs wrong?â you asked, immediately feeling anxious at the sight of your sister entering your room.
âSunghoon had an accident, just down the street. Heâs in our morgue right now, heââ
It felt like a bucket of cold water had been dumped over you.
You werenât able to let Daehi continue what she was saying as you screamed and rushed down to the funeral home below, nearly tripping in your haste, barely able to see the path through your tear-filled eyes.
This was the nightmare you had feared for all these years.
You didnât bother putting on a mask or coat; you just ran to the preparation room. There was indeed someone on the embalming table, covered with a white sheet stained with a lot of blood.
You froze near the door and broke down in tears.
A fellow mortician was preparing instruments at the sink on one side of the room and glanced over at you.
âY/n?â they called out.
You forced yourself to speak. âJust⌠just give me five minutes, please, Chae.â The employee looked puzzled, but you didnât notice due to the pain overwhelming you. âOkay, sure?â Chae replied before leaving you alone.
You stepped closer to the body. âYou idiot! Damn you, Sunghoon! You made me fall in love with you, and now youâre just gonna leave me!? Again?! You didnât even give me a chance to tell you I love youâŚâ Despite your trembling knees, you approached the corpse, wanting to see Sunghoon one last time. Taking a deep breath, you slowly pulled back the white sheet.
Your tears hung suspended in the air as you took in the sight of the cadaver: dark skin, a crooked nose, a large face, and a scar on one cheek.
âY/n?â you heard a familiar voice call out.
You turned and saw Sunghoon standing in the doorway. He had bandages on the side of his forehead and one cheek, looking at you in surprise.
You redirected your gaze back to the body before looking at the young man again. âThis isnât you.â
âItâs not,â he responded.
Daehi suddenly appeared next to him, chuckling as she scratched his head. âThatâs what I was trying to tell you, right? I was saying that Sunghoon got into an accident and is in the morgue because he wanted to help.â
You stared at your sister in shock for a moment. When you finally understood what had happened, your legs gave way beneath you.
God, forgive me for all the sins Iâve committedâŚ.
You felt the urge to blame her for the emotional chaos she caused you, but she wasnât at fault. That was what your sister had meant to say, but you hadnât allowed her to finish. So, it was partly your fault.
You glared at Daehi. âWhy do you always have to make your sentences so unclear? You made me panic.â You wiped your tears and tried to regain your composure.
You walked out of the preparation room, brushing past the two by the door.
You ran into Chae, who seemed ready to start embalming the body you had mistaken for Sunghoon. She looked at you in surprise, likely noticing your puffy eyes and red nose, but she didnât say anything.
âThanks, Chae,â you managed to say as you continued outside. You intended to go home, lock yourself in your room, and just like your sister had suggested, you wanted to cry properly.
But you didnât even make it to the entrance of the funeral parlor. You were still in the casket showroom when someone grabbed your arm.
âHey,â Sunghoon greeted you as you turned around.
A surge of emotions hit you all at onceârelief that he wasnât actually dead, embarrassment, sadness, fearâŚ
But you let your annoyance be the only thing he saw.
âWhat?â you snapped, irritated both from the embarrassment and from realizing how much you actually love him.
A faint smirk appeared at the corner of his mouth, and you noticed for the first time the dried blood on it.
âIâm giving you the chance to say everything you wanted to say to me. That way, when I really do die, you wonât have any regretsâOw!â He flinched as you punched him in the shoulder.
âYouâre so annoying!â you shouted, hitting him repeatedly.
Sunghoon caught hold of your arms to stop you âCome on, have some mercy. I just got out of an accident. Iâll probably have more bruises from you than from the crash.â
You felt a bit sorry for him, but you kept up your glare as he looked ready to burst out laughing at any second. âAnd you still had the audacity to joke around? Do you think this is funny? I nearly had a heart attack earlier, you jerk!â
Sunghoon pulled you into a hug, and you couldnât help but relax, surrendering to the warmth of his embrace. "I'm so, so sorry, Y/n. We never meant to scare you," he said softly.
You started to cry against his chest. But this time, it was a tears of pure relief. He held you close, then gently kissed the top of your head. And just like that, all your hurt seemed to dissolve. It felt almost magical.
He raised his hand in a gesture of apology. "Iâm really sorry. Scaring you was never our intention."
You reached up, lightly touching the bandage near his eyebrow. "What happened? How did you end up in an accident?"
"I was hurrying to get here," he said. "But donât get me wrong, I was carefulâuntil a motorbike suddenly cut me off. I swerved to avoid him but ended up crashing into a pole. Luckily, the airbag deployed, so I only got a few scrapes. And guy on the motorbike made it past me safely," he went on. "But he was being reckless, and he ended up cutting off another vehicle. This time, he got hit by a bus."
You closed your eyes, silently praying for the soul of the person left in the morgue, while also thanking the heavens for Sunghoonâs safety. You didnât even want to think about what you would have done if he hadnât made it.
"I⌠I was so scared," you whispered, voice shaky. "I thought⌠I thought you were gone."
He hugged you tighter, pressing a firm kiss to your forehead. Looking up, you saw Sunghoonâs eyes were closed, as if he was savoring having you in his arms. A warm, sweet feeling filled your chest.
"Iâve been dying to do this again; dying to be with you again," Sunghoon whispered, his voice soft and intimate. His eyes opened, and his gaze seemed to pierce right through to your soul. "Why did you suddenly go to Jeju?" he asked, a hint of sulk in his voice.
"I couldnât say no. It was Jiwonâs sisterâs birthday celebration, and sheâs my friend, too. Plus, I thought I needed some space to think about us. But I promise, I already turned Jiwon down. Again."
"Good." He smiled. "For days now, my mindâs been filled with nothing but Y/n, Y/n, Y/n. Honestly, I got scaredâI thought I was going crazy."
A smile crept onto your face. "Oh? Havenât you always been a bit crazy?"
"Only for you." He reached out and gently brushed your cheek.
"Iâm sorry. The words that came out of my mouth yesterday were wrong. I didnât mean that I wanted just another twenty-five days with you; I want twenty-five lifetimes with you, Y/n. I love you."
You could only stare into his handsome face, his eyes shimmering with sincerity. There was no way you could say no to him.
"Iâd like that, too. Twenty-five lifetimes with you," you replied, making him smile.
"Hold on." He kissed the top of your head before pulling away, reaching into his pocket for his phone.
"Whatâs that for?" you asked, a bit confused.
He started typing on his phone. "I have a letter here that I meant to read to you yesterday. But when I got so annoyed when I saw you with that Jiwon guy that I completely forgot about it.
You chuckled at the sarcastic mention of your former suitor. "Okay, letâs hear it."
"Here it goes." He cleared his throat, lowering his voice as he read. "To my lovely mortician," he began, making you smile. "You brought life to the living dead that I was before I met you. Now, here I am, dying to be yours completely because I simply canât live without you."
You laughed loudly. "God, Sunghoon! Thatâs so cheesy!" You rolled your eyes playfully.
"Wait? Iâm not finished? I still have a closing line?â he sassily said but laughed as he wrapped his arm around your waist. He looked into your eyes, smiling as he read the final part of his so-called letter. "Iâm head over heels, dying for you. Yours truly, Park Sunghoon."
Before you could laugh out loud, he kissed you, silencing your supposed laughter with a passionate embrace that made you melt into him. You moaned softly and kissed him back, realizing how much you missed him⌠and how much you missed this.
"I love you to death, Yoon Y/n," he whispered against your lips before pulling you into another deep, heated kiss. You clutched the fabric of his shirt, letting your kisses express everything you couldnât put into words.
Day 803
You looked beautiful in his arms, still catching your breath from what you had just done, but happiness radiated from your face. You reached out and pinched his cheek playfully. "Wow, youâre so good at this!" you gasped. "How did you become such an expert so quickly? Have you been practicing with someone else?"
"No one else. Itâs way more enjoyable when Iâm with you," he replied, planting a kiss on your lips. "Come on, letâs get up."
You pulled him up from the parachute you had just been lying on. Yes, it was indeed a parachute. You had just finished skydiving. It was your third monthsary when you first introduced him to that extreme sport, and he had become so addicted to the thrill of flying that here you were again for what felt like the umpteenth time.
Life with youâhis girlfriend, felt like skydivingâexhilarating, exciting... it was the adrenaline rush of his life.
So much had changed for Sunghoon since you officially became a couple twenty-five days after you first met. Most importantly, he had trashed out his 25-day dating method. People he knew were amused, confused, or even laughed at him, but he didnât care about their opinions anymore. What mattered to him was that he had seen the light. His life had never been this fun.
Your relationship wasnât perfectâyou had disagreements and problems like anyone elseâbut you always managed to overcome them. He was confident that you could face anything that came your way because you both had each other's support and love... and, of course, the support of your families.
Now, it felt like he was ready for even more days of joy with you.
Sunghoon sighed contentedly with a smile, pulling you closer to him and kissing your forehead. "I love you." You grinned but didnât have a response.
"Look over there." He pointed at something flying in the distance.
"Hey, thereâs a drone!" you exclaimed. "I wonder if it captured our flight!"
He just smiled at you.
Before long, the drone flew up to you and stopped right at your feet. "Whatâs this?" you asked, narrowing your eyes as you shot Sunghoon a doubtful look. You noticed a small black coffin taped to the top of the device.
"Just take a look," Sunghoon replied casually.
Together, you both removed the tape from the drone, and then he handed you the small box. Your eyes widened as you examined it. "What now, Park Sunghoon?" you exclaimed, feeling a surge of nerves. It seemed you already guessed what he was planning. "Does your proposal really have to have a Halloween theme?"
He laughed. "What do you mean âproposalâ? Just open the coffin and see for yourself. Youâre so quick to assume, you know that?â he laughed as you playfully punched his arm and slowly opened the tiny box.
"Itâs ring!" you squealed when you saw what was inside. You read from the small note attached to the ring.
Iâm dying to spend the rest of my life with you.
"Oh my god, Sunghoon, youâre so annoying!" You lightly punched his shoulder.
He cupped your face in his hands, and you felt a rush of butterflies in your stomach from the nerves. You smiled, even though he could tell you were on the verge of tears. He let the words pour out with all the overwhelming emotions inside him. "Youâve brought my faith back to life. Youâve revived my long-lost dreams of finding a love like my parents had." He sighed. "Iâm completely down bad dead in love with you. Please m-marry me, Yoon Y/n."
Tears filled your eyes. With love shining brightly, you replied, "Okay, fine. Iâll marry you. I couldnât say not to a poor thing, canât I?"
He laughed and wrapped you in a tight embrace, holding the woman he loved more than anything in the world.

Dear people over America. I woke up to this current political news which is devastating to say the least to minorities, women and the trans community on the other side of the globe. I wanted to do what little I can to help and ease your minds.
I'm a psychic. I have been doing divination (oracle readings) for 25 years. I've got a high success rate and my reviews on my store are 5/5 (you can see this for yourself). I asked the cards for clarification for all this; why is HE the president now, and how does the nearby future look for women and trans communities.
Please note that these are collective readings of the topic and might not correlate with your own personal experiences or how things are in your home state! So take only what resonates with you and ignore the rest. (If you wish to have a personal reading, that is possible; in that case, click here)
Why Trump is the president?
This result didn't surprise me because for the past 3 years I have heard many American people, who have had a near-death experience (NDE) to say that if they have gotten a view of America's future, Trump has always appeared as being elected for the 2nd time - but only for the 2nd time.
The Spirit tells me that Trump's personal lesson is to learn to see other people's points of views. That's why he chose such a position in society, where he would need to consider many different people from different backgrounds and life situations. He needs to understand how his actions affect others.
However, he is miserably failing with this personal lesson (unless something happens and he somehow completes it now in the next 4 years). Instead of going for harmony and seeing everyone's point of view, his priority is Power. With a capital P. That's what he desires, that's what he wants (MAGA movement is based on this; power back to America, America needs to be a powerful, unyielding boxer in the global ring - only a win matters).
I asked why he wishes for this Power and it's simply because of the power's sake. He loves to be in control. He loves to feel powerful. You all are asked, as much as possible, to detach from this drama he is causing because it indeed seems like he is close to a cult leader and loves to bask in this power. He loves the idea that he can command nukes and one of the most powerful countries in the world. To get this, he is ready to cause any kind of a shitstorm - after all, he has not learned to consider others, except maybe only his own family members.
This correlates with his views of an autonomic power, where he gets all the power and can be a dictator. There's no one more powerful person alive in the world than a dictator. Anyone following him is likely learning this same lesson of empathy and understanding, and failing in it. They all want to be the King of the Hill and by following someone who already is, makes them feel like they are, too. This is all drama for dramas sake because it makes them feel more powerful.
TL;DR: Trump's life lesson is to learn to respect and honor everyone despite their backgrounds and views. What a better way to do that as a president of a nation with so many nationalities and stories of people in it. But so far he has failed miserably in this lesson and has chosen blind worship of power instead. Stirring drama is his tactic to gain more power and followers. Detach from his and his followers' drama as much as you can; block, ignore, move on. His reign will eventually come to an end.
Future for Women in The US?
A toxic masculine energy wishes to control women of America and this is not related to any single individual. The rise of misogyny is real and tangible, and women are part of this "other party" the power hungry men do not want to contemplate. It's His way or No Way at all.
This will make women turn more and more away from men, which HOPEFULLY make these men see that in order to actually have a woman and a family they so much yearn to have is to love women. Not to hate them as they now do. Not to see them as assets or items or rewards of a job well done of being a man. More and more women will choose not to have kids, choose not to date or get married, and they will choose even more carefully men who are on their side, walking next to them as a unit.
In a way or another, women WILL fight and take their power back. Peace will not be an option. If this fighting can't be done visibly, it will be done in secrecy; helping other women out, warning them of bad men and risks, aiding others to better safety and to a better life. Mind you that this also covers trans women; there are trans women and trans allies in cis women who will be willing to help. Women will turn towards one another. Men who follow this old paradigm of controlling women will be met with women's bare teeth but other women will be met with peace. I don't see anything particularly related to women who follow misogyny but I imagine with this much mental energy here, women will not abandon them but educate them. It is possible some of these women, who support this kind of regime, will later change their minds when they see how it negatively affects them, their parents, sisters, aunts, friends, cousins, coworkers etc. Some women will die in order to wake others up.
Women will turn their nurturing energies - the one this regime wants to turn towards men and babies - towards themselves. Artistic expression and expressing their feelings through any form of art will be significant. Pay attention to what kind of art women do now - it's going to be directly reflected in what's going on now. Women seem to also be looking more after their bodies, keeping themselves safe. This low level energy of control and forcing women is echoes of the past and women of America, collectively and mainly, wish not to partake in it any longer.
When it comes to men, these men who have thought that Trump will deliver them a woman to look after them and have their babies will see that it's not the case. And, if it is, the marriage is not happy and many women will fight like a trapped wild cat, scratching the eyes out of any of the people who want to trap them. This will be genuinely boggling to them and might make them angrier but their lessons are to understand what human rights are and what it means to respect others as your equal.
TL;DR: Women will turn away from misogyny and forced motherhood more and more, turning their attention and care towards themselves and other women (trans included) and leaving misogyny men angry because they have not learned to love women (not your job to teach them this, sisters!). Artistic expressions in all forms among women will be very high as it will be a way to express and deal with these current energies. Women will be even more pickier with the men they date and get married with, or even interact overall with - as they should. Anyone who wants to rip you off from your human rights is not your ally or a good partner. This will not be a shocker to anyone else but the men who believe in misogyny, as they will not get wives or girlfriends any easier - it only gets harder.
Future for Trans People in the US?
Trans people in the USA (not every state, mind you) need to "erase" their existence. Like I saw someone saying here; if you know a trans person in the USA now, no, you don't. True identities will be hidden for the safety's sake and people will flock more into underground, smaller communities. Those communities will continue to exist and support one another. This is not a total erasure but it's erasure in a way that it is better to choose carefully who really knows your true identity and who are the people to whom you are performing the identity of your physical body. So trans men will pretend to continue to be women on the outside, trans women will pretend to continue to be men on the outside but in their own safe spaces and supportive communities, they can be who they truly are.
Now, trans communities and rights will not be erased. There can be a momentary setback and time when trans people have to carefully hide their identities for their own sake but it will not be permanent. Trans people, like women's collective, WILL FIGHT. Trans people will NOT allow themselves and their fellow trans people to be erased. The time when "transpeople didn't exist because this is woke idealism", as red-wing misogyny says, WILL NOT return. People who wish for these times to come back have fallen from the evolution of humanity. Trans people will not stop existing. They will fight for their rights till the end of the world. Liberation seems to be near and this looks, in America, to be the final dark hour before the new dawn. Hang in there!
The Spirit and the cards promise that trans people will get their freedom. There's no returning back to the time when their existence was forbidden. There's a flow of prosperity and lots of freedom in the future cards so any trans person there reading this - DO NOT GIVE UP. This is temporary. This will pass. You need to play with these nasty rules for a little while but it will pass.
There's a promise of balance in work and home life, so acceptance of trans people both in private areas of their life (home, friends, communities, online blogs etc.) as well as in public (school, work, society, hospitals, other people). That kind of a future is coming, also as we move more into the Era of Aquarius, which supports human rights, different gender and sexual identities without judgment, liberation of gender and sexuality and thus the human expression itself.
TL;DR: Trans people need to lay low for now and hide their true identities for their own safety. If you know a trans person, no, you do not. They will find the support they need in their own communities but trans people will not be erased. Trans people WILL fight and there is going to be a time in the future when they can openly (once again) be who they truly are, both at home and outside home. Flow of prosperity and freedom is in the cards as a promise of the future and these energies are massive. This is only the old paradigm's final efforts to stay alive as it croaks and is forgotten. American humanity will evolve to respect trans people's human rights, too.
EVERYONE SCARED IN THE USA, KEEP GOING! This is only a temporary moment of night.

Phan Fic Recs!!
here's a bunch of my absolute favorites for anyone who needs a distraction from the election <3 i will make a second post with shorter ones as well, this post will just be fics that are over 10k
Inheriting Love by Fictropes (22k)- Dan is a lawyer who executes wills in a small town in the English countryside, and Phil's aunt leaves him a house. One of the cutest fics I've read recently tbh, lots of banter and cows<3
Silver Arrows to the Heart by @evermorepeyton (137k, WIP)- How could i POSSIBLY make a rec list without including this masterpiece??? Dan and Phil are Formula 1 drivers, chaos ensues<3 sooooo much fun (and there are some really beautiful cool women in there too, just as a treat)
dancing on the blades (you set my heart on fire) by kishere (123k)- Dan is an amateur figure skater who scores a spot at the famous Lester training gym, where he meets the legendary Phil Lester and of course they fall in love... this one has sooo many cute fetus moments and wonderful cameos from Kath<3 absolutely love it
Like a Bowl of Oranges by cloej88 (@bitchslapblastoids) (47k)- Phil is a filmmaker looking to amplify queer stories in the media, Dan is a ghostwriter who's been writing a memoir on the side, you can guess what happens next. very VERY fun fic, lots of drama and lovely reflection, as well as the softest scenes between them. love this one (and the author :3)
The Odd Uneven Time by @yikesola (20k)- A 2009 fic from Phil's perspective, falling in love with a boy over the Internet. Absolutely WONDERFUL vibes, so so so cute (and it probably happened in real life ahaha)
Live Incidentally by yikesola (37k)- Phil makes novelty t-shirts and Dan buys them :) really funny, also some great Lester family moments
The Pianist Everyone Is Talking About... Is My Husband by @natigail (25k)- Dan is a famous pianist, Phil plays his songs on the radio, but nobody knows that they're actually married. Lots of chaos ensues, crazy fangirls can feel super represented, and Dan laughs at Phil about it all<3 this fic is so funny lol, highly HIGHLY recommend
Kick Me While I'm Down by jerserker (14k)- Dan and Phil join an adult kickball league! Phil just wants to make friends, and Dan... kicks everyone's asses <3 Really funny competitive Dan, fun times honestly :)
missing the obvious by Fictropes (14k)- Dan plays videogames in an anonymous Discord server at night, and during the day he goes to his boring office job and hooks up with his coworker Phil in bathroom stalls... I wonder how these two things could possibly be connected...
Our House by sierradeux (50k)- Dan is a real estate agent, Phil is a Youtube house flipper, they team up to cohost an HGTV renovation special and fall in love. With the house, obviously. But also with each other <3 this is one of my favorites guys I think it should be required reading for everyone on phannie tumblr
maybe this christmas by blackbirddan (13k)- it's November, im allowed to rec christmas fics now, right??? anyway, this one is HUGE for fans of the Lester and Howell families, just so so so soft and sweet and awesome<3
Strictly Come Dancing but make it GAY by natigail (176k)- i mean this one has a pretty self explanatory title... read for super hot dancer Phil, awkward celebrity Dan, and so so so many beautiful outfit and dance descriptions :3 seriously, I wish I could watch this season irl :( this is for sure in my top 3 fics of all time to be so honest
they grew up so nicely, didn't they? by natigail (15k)- Cornelia pov on meeting the boy Phil brought home, and then throughout the years. SO CUTE!!!!! really big for fans of outsider pov (me)
okie dokie<3 i will be making an under 10k rec list as well, so be on the lookout for that one!
#shoutout specially to natigail and Fictropes you guys have been saving my ao3 bookmarks almost singlehandedly forever#dan and phil#phan#dnp#phandom#dip and pip#phil lester#dan howell#dnpg#dapg#dan and phil games#fic rec#phan fiction#phan fic#phan au#daniel howell#phanfiction

i feel like iâve been openly trans long enough to deal with so many people trying to tell me whatâs wrong with my head & attempt to transplant some neurosis in there and itâs so easy to just be like. no, thatâs not me. thatâs actually not how i think at all and i donât worry about the things you think i do. iâm not âtrying to beâ anyone or anything, i just am.
& then i start to recognize this pattern happening over and over again with not just other trans people but systems & therians et al & it becomes so obvious that itâs all just about trying to fit everyone into an experience/being-in-the-world that just does not line up with the actual multiplicity of experiences that people can attest to. itâs as arbitrary as the gender binary or cissexism or any arguments about heterosexuality being ânaturalâ or whatever, & itâs enforced the same way - through pathologization, through positioning differences in experience of self as being deformations of some platonic ideal individual human self: a concept of self that goes back to liberal enlightenment thought & then further back to the christian idea of the human soul, socially constructed, and therefore, while in a sense ârealâ, entirely possible to change to account for those hurt by it. itâs all an attempt to reconcile variation by forcing it into strict boundaries, by making all variations subservient to a particular one given higher status in our culture, same as conversion therapy, same as coercive surgeries on intersex people, same as âgender identity disorderâ, etc etc, itâs creating a problem where there is none, treating an âillnessâ that is social/political & not medical.
thatâs why iâm here for any alternate conceptions of self - i just trust people to know who they are more than anyone else does, & itâs clear that calling these people crazy does absolutely no good for anybody. what harm is there in letting someone be multiple people or an animal or whatever, if that genuinely can make them feel more connected to themself, their community, and the world at large? there is so much more potential for what people can become and therefore what people can do when we stop projecting the exact same internal life & experience onto everybody
#actual blog post#just further thoughts on my last self reblog since iâm not drunk anymore#hope it makes sense at all :)
