“One kiss won’t hurt our friendship, right Katsuki?”
You ask him that at least once a week, for the past 4 months. At this point he’s not sure if it’s a joke anymore.
“Shut up and focus!”
It all started at your graduation party, everybody was having fun and kissing each other;
Mina with Kiri
Ochaco with Deku
Jirou with Denki
Even Sero managed to find somebody to make out with in a corner. It left you and Bakugo the only ones out of your friend group kissless during all of that you both just shared glances at them and each other before heading back up to your dorms for the evening, he didn’t care much to continue the celebration and you were just feeling a little awkward seeing everybody paired up.
Later that night Bakugo came to your door to grab an aspirin from you after 1 two many drinks, “Stupid ass music is still playing I’m about to blow the fucking speaker up.”
“Here. Also, eat. You haven’t eaten since this morning so your blood sugar is probably low too.”
He glared at you with an annoyed look of confusion, “Don’t observe me.”
He says as he takes the other half of your sandwhich, eventually he just stayed in your room, making himself comfortable splayed out on your bed as you were finishing packing to leave on Monday back to your parents, and that’s when a night of comfortable silence between you both turned into you making a joke about everybody hooking up in your class except you both.
“Yeah, even Robot legs got some pussy tonight i think.”
Which led you to making a joke about you stealing a kiss from each other, I mean you figured why not, you’re hot, he might have a mean mouth, but your blonde friend was hot too, it wouldn’t mean anything, but Bakugo immediately rolled his eyes and scoffed at you. It wasn’t mean either it was more of a, “Yeah right as if.” kind of thing.
It wasn’t a direct no though.
Since then you’ve had a continuous back and fourth of asking for a kiss, which again he never ends up saying no like any of the continuous fan girls he got during 2nd year.
Once the new semester of Uni started it became a routine and honestly you never thought you’d actually wear him down.
“It wouldn’t hurt our friendship y’know…it’d be something we do once and never speak about again.”
“You’re insufferable.”
“No I’m a good kisser.”
“Yeah right.”
“Yeah too, but you wouldn’t know because you won’t just come here and let me take your kiss virginity.”
You probably took it a little too far with that, because you’ve been friends with Bakugo long enough to know he is a drama. Queen.
“Who the hell said i never kissed anybody before?! I probably have!” His voice cracked, already a sign that he was lying. He definitely never kissed anybody. You knew, he probably knew you knew, but he refused to give you the satisfaction even IF his face became flushed.
He got up from his desk to sit in front of you on the bed, uncharacteristically so he cupped your cheeks, your phone long forgotten between your legs having to be forced to look into his irritated face.
You never noticed how sharp and soft some features of his face were.
And how clear his skin was.
And how pretty his eyes were even if they’re fiery and mad, “Close your damn eyes.”
“I’m not closing shit YOU close your eyes.”
You matched his energy by cupping his cheeks, they were nearly burning to your warm touch, thumb caressing his smooth skin. The tension was so thick between you both, you swore you could hear both your heart beats quickening. His lips were grazing yours as you pulled him closer, your stomach was actually doing backflips seeing as Bakugo had the choice to push you off, curse you out and never talk to you again, but
He didn’t and you didn’t stop either until you pressed your mouth against his. You could taste the mint gum he had in his mouth when you started to move yours, Bakugo’s sweaty hands took grip of your waist, partially holding onto you and also wiping it off on your shirt.
You were surprised when he still didn’t pull away, for an inexperienced kisser he got the hang of the way your tongue was dancing to be let inside, which he finally gave you access, but completely took charge and slid his tongue into your mouth instead.
What turned into an awkward still moment of passion transitioned into a wet, sloppy make out session which him getting lost from what he’d experienced as his first moment of pleasure ever. His hands pushed you on your back firm on top of his pillows, but not disconnecting from your mewls against him.
He tasted sweet and savory, his lips were average sized and hot, but managed to consume you. This was more than a kiss this was damn near foreplay.
Both of your bodies felt so connected though. It felt right, something so foreign felt…comforting. It suckling and moaning noises until the harsh knock on Bakugo’s door broke you both out of your cloud 9.
“Shit—Who is it?” He barked at the door, hovering over your panting body, his chain dangling over your face seeing his sharp jawline clench out of irritation,
“Hey man, we are heading to get some food y’wanna come?” It was Denki and Kiri oh so unknown to the view right behind his door, that if they wanted to barge in because the door was unlocked could see their hot headed friend on top of his own friend and in between her legs.
“No I’m fine. Leave me alone.”
“Wait I’m hungry—-“
“Shut.Up.” He covered your mouth, almost growling at you for speaking, the footsteps eventually fade off and he sits back up. Looking away.
“Well I’ll be damned you are a good kisser.”
“Shut— I know I am.”
“Well. I figured, because I sure as shit didn’t know what I was doing.”
He snapped his head at you, realizing you were lying about being an experienced kisser. He didn’t know whether to feel prideful or mad, “You—“
“Well you lied too. I know you never kissed anybody. Thanks for letting me take your lip virginity though.” You giggle wiping the lips gloss you left on the corner of his lip, you weren’t sure because he had some black joggers, but you tried to not mention the somewhat obvious growing erection from between his legs that made him more embarrassed.
“If you tell anybody I’ll—“
“You’ll what…kiss me again?”

I Just Wanna See You Shine (r.c.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
contains: smut (18+), swearing.
rafe cameron x overachiever!reader
summary: everyone counted on you to be the valedictorian, the go-to for tough subjects and the one who never got in trouble. one day, rafe cameron had came up to you for some tutoring but it turns out he was just paying for the pleasure of your company.
i just wanna see you shine ‘cause i know you are a stargirl.
if everybody was betting on valedictorian, everybody would be betting on you. you were the one person who had it all figured out; high grades, perfect attendance, a reputation for never stepping out of line.
no drama. no distractions. no boyfriend. you were the only person who actually cared about deadlines, assignments and getting into a good college even as a rich kid.
at kildare academy, no one really cared about what you did or didn’t do. everyone was rich, privileged, and used to getting what they wanted.
graduation wasn’t a huge deal; chances for success were handed to you with a silver spoon. the kooks had money, connections, and opportunities waiting for them at every turn. even if they flunked a test, they’d still get into the best colleges, all thanks to their families’ influence and wealth.
people didn’t expect much from your personal life, if anything, they just assumed you didn’t have one, too busy studying to bother with parties or boys. and even if you did, rafe cameron would be the last name anyone would think of.
he was everything you weren’t; wild, reckless, the kind of guy who didn’t care about grades or the future. he drove fast cars, lived life with no sense of direction. and you? you were the complete opposite.
right now, you’d find yourself breaking a rule you swore you’d never cross, all because of that stupid boy.
you knew he was up to no good the minute he slipped those silver glasses off of your face.
this was the tenth-ish guttural moan rafe had let out. his eyes fluttering closed for a moment as he feels your walls squeezing around him. rafe was completely lost to the need, the primal desire for you. the one thing missing from his great list of achievements. his body strained with the effort to resist the urge to take you, to make you his.
rafe was completely at your mercy, completely undone, his body twitching with need as you moved your hips against him. his eyes were locked onto yours, his stare desperate and pleading, his voice a ragged whisper as he moaned your name over and over again, each repetition edged with a hint of desperation, as if he couldn’t stand to be without you for even a moment.
“why are you so fucking good at this?” he breathed out, a little surprised, but also impressed. his mouth hanging open with every movement.
“one terrible experience,” you replied matter-of-factly. “i didn’t bother with anyone else. i don’t waste time. i’m a fast learner, though. especially when it comes to… watching. visual things tend to stick.”
you never would’ve imagined that rafe cameron, the kook prince, the guy who practically owned kildare island, would be wrapped around your little finger. but somehow, he was.
his mouth watered as you leaned over him, your boobs hovering so close to his mouth. his hands clenching around the bedsheets, his body rigid as he waits for you to say something.
rafe swallowed hard, his breath coming in quick gasps, his entire body tense and straining with the effort to hold back. the effort to stop himself from rolling you both over and to stop himself from fucking you so dirty, but in this moment, rafe was completely under your control, and he knows it. he can't help but want you.
“you can touch me.” you held onto his shoulder for some sense of control as you continued rolling your hips. rafe let out a low, guttural moan as you gave him permission, his eyes closing briefly as he waited for you to descend closer. then he leaned upwards, taking your breast in his mouth, his tongue swirling around your nipple as he suckles you, his hands moving to your hips, holding you in place.
rafe’s hips bucked up into you as he slid himself deeper, his voice a low, ragged moan. “you feel so good..” he gasps. “feel so damn good…i can’t get enough of you…fuck…”
“yeah?” your thumb moved to rub over his bottom lip. “can’t get enough of me?”
rafe’s hands grabbed at your hips, his touch nearly painful.
“we’re gonna do this again, and again, and again, darlin’,” he muttered, his voice low and rough as he thrusted up into you. “all” slap. “night.” slap. “long.” slap.
you pulled on your clothes, moving quietly as rafe laid there, worn out and more exhausted than you’d ever seen him. but that smile tugging at the creases of his lips—his smirk that you knew so well was still there. his voice broke the silence, his tone lazy, but with that familiar edge of smugness. “looks like i got something, or someone, to add to my collection,” he said, the words carrying a challenge, as though he was satisfied by the moment but still trying to hold some control.
as you reached for your shoes, he propped himself up on one elbow, his voice thick with that cocky tone as he started running his mouth again. “well, well, look at you. the overachiever, the one everybody thought was untouchable, sucked right into my world.” rafe let out a low chuckle and his eyes locked onto yours. "guess it fits the narrative. you were the only thing missing from the story.”
you stood up, slipping on your shoes but you couldn't help the grin that tugged at your lips even if his words punched your ego so badly.
moving closer, you leaned down slightly, lowering your voice to a seductive whisper. "if you tell anyone," you said, your words deliberate, "i’ll have to tell them about how you were so willing to submit and how you were shaking and almost crying under my control.”
without giving him a chance to say anything back, you pressed a quick kiss to his lips, a short one but it left a spark behind. you walked confidently to the door, not glancing back until you reached the threshold.
“see you around, kook prince,” you tossed your bag over your shoulder. rafe shifted, a devilish smirk lighting up his face, and replied with that trademark cockiness, “see you around, princess.”

Pairing: Spencer Reid x single mom!reader Summary: If you and Spencer had a nickel every time someone teased you after witnessing your interactions, you'd have two nickels, which isn't much — but it's weird that it happened twice. WC: 4.4k Warnings: Mentions of abandonment and I think that's it. Let me know if I missed anything. A/N: HI!!! I'm so obsessed with them... in a normal amount of course. I'm thinking about writing casually for them, who knows... Also,,,, who am I if not a morcia truther….. I hope you enjoy it! Feedbacks are always appreciated <3 neighbor!au masterlist | main masterlist
You were doomed from the moment he bid you goodbye.
"So, who's he?" Victoria inquired, a sly smirk on her face and a bashful expression on yours.
"Who's who?" You asked, trying to feign nonchalance.
She groaned playfully, "You know what I mean."
"I'm afraid I don't." You winked, sitting on your couch again, between the two women. Sex and the City was playing on the TV across from the three of you.
"You're acting like us as freshmen when the seniors looked at us—" she retorted.
"I thought we didn't talk about that," Jude deadpanned.
"You're 'I don't know what you're talking about' me? I thought we were friends!" Victoria poked you in the rib.
"Ouch! He's just a friendly neighbor, that's it." You said, trying to cut the subject. Jude looked at you suspiciously. "White wine time."
From Spencer's apartment, he could hear the sound of chatter, joyful laughter and opening bottles for the rest of the night. He didn't know how to feel by your invitation, now that he had calmed down after looking you in the eye for a moment, technically, all by yourselves. He would definitely feel inappropriate at a kid's birthday where he barely knew the people who invited him, but he thought that Olivia's gesture was amazingly endearing. What could possibly be more childishly adorable than an infant trying to help and making a 'mistake'? And what could possibly be more devastatingly endearing than a mother taking advantage of said mistake to make it right?
Spencer studied the card for a moment. It fit the palm of his hand, tiny and delicate. It had a different address from yours and the time of the party, all of it lovely handwritten, just like the letters from calligraphy practice notebooks. It seemed like Olivia put a lot of effort in trying to perfect her handiwork. It read:
Hey, it's Oli!
I'm turning six and I want to celebrate it with you!
The contents of the slip of paper were adorned by dainty drawings related to birthdays: party hats, cake, gifts, some decoration and so on. It suddenly dawned on him that he was actually becoming closer to the people he always thought lived a perfect life. His mind had a tendency to wander and, for a fleeting moment, he thought about what it would be like to be part of that perfect life.
Olivia was a perfectionist child. He saw the expected behavior of the age in her manners, but the care with her work almost made him think someone else had done it for her. Something told him it wasn't the case, though.
Secured by two magnets, he placed Olivia's birthday party invitation on his fridge. You know, just so he wouldn't forget it — he tried to convince himself.
Everybody knew about his otherworldly memory, but he decided to forget it purposefully.
Tumblr media
"Good morning, good ghost. I didn't see you anymore." Olivia greeted as she saw Spencer in front of the elevator. You were just locking your door closed, hyping yourself up for the week ahead of you when you heard it and a shiver ran down your spine. This, whatever it was, was getting out of hand.
"Good morning, Miss Olivia!" He said, a sweet tone of voice. You melted. "It's true. It's been a while. I was here on the weekend, but it seemed like you had other plans." He stuck his hand out for her to shake. She did it in a heartbeat.
"I was with my grandma and grandpa. They took me to the movies and grandpa made me lasagna." She explained as you approached them, adjusting your bag and Olivia's backpack in each of your arms. "Did'ya get my birthday party invitation?"
"Yes, I did! Thank you for inviting me. But, you know, your mother probably needed the rest of them for the other guests." He said as the elevator opened. He gestured for you to enter it first, so you did it with a grateful nod.
"Sorry, mommy. I didn't mean it." Olivia looked at you briefly, ashamed that you would call her out.
"I know, baby, 's okay. Everyone has one now." You assured her with a light tone. Breathe. "Hi, Spencer. Good morning." You said as he joined you in the elevator.
He breathed out, "Good morning. Hi." He had a big smile on his face, standing right next to you, you both facing the door and Olivia in front of you. Internally, he felt like a puppy who had his owners’ undivided attention.
Olivia pressed the button to the lobby. You noticed a book in his hands. Courage. "So, what are you reading, Spencer?"
He gulped. Were you talking to him? It took him a moment to get a grip and realize that he hadn't answered you. Struggling to find the words and suddenly unable to remember what he was actually reading. "Me? I'm just re-reading one of Dostoievski's books. Notes from Underground."
"Dosto-what?" Olivia chipped in.
You looked at her, ready to tell her to not interrupt someone, but couldn't stop yourself from giggling. Spencer watched it fondly. "It's Dostoievski, baby. D'you remember that one book with the 'ugly' cover that mommy was reading the other day?" You asked her, air quoting the word 'ugly'. “It wasn’t ugly. It just wasn’t pink.” You explained it, looking at Spencer. He grinned.
"Yeah. You didn't read to me because it was work." She said, getting distracted with one of her braids.
"Are you a teacher?" He asked, intrigued.
"No. I actually work for a publishing company. Sometimes I have interesting content to revise." You said, a tinge of irony in your voice. He smiled at you, feeling comfortable enough to joke around him without the awkwardness of that first encounter.
The elevator door opened. Olivia jumped out. "I bet it's interesting," was the best he could come up with. Tongue tied.
“Yeah. It’s a good book.”
Like a fucking teenager, he watched as you left with your daughter. Your mixed laughter echoing in the lobby as Olivia spinned around while you carried the weight all by yourself.
He scolded himself for not remembering to offer you help.
Tumblr media
Two days later, a few states over, Spencer sat on a chair at the conference room of the precinct they were working with. The case was exhausting and he just wanted it to be over, but it wasn't that simple. He waited for Derek Morgan — he was his ride that night back to the hotel they were crashing on. He was in front of Derek as he and Penelope talked, her image on the computer screen. The man's nonchalant tone was a riddle for her to unsolve — everyone else was aware that there was definitely something between them (an unspoken dictionary worth of words), even if their interactions were deemed as jokes. Penelope, feeling very shy, tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and looked at her lap after a particular comment about her smile. As she did so, her eyes caught a glance of her watch. "Oh, shoot. I have to go," she murmured, relieved to have a way out of the exchange that had high chances of turning her into a nervous wreck. "I'm so sorry, handsome! Tomorrow is one of my friend's daughter's birthday."
A flash of disappointment crossed Derek's features. Not that she'd noticed. Instead of pressing her, he chose to say, "Need extra energy to keep up with the kids, babygirl?" Ah, there was it. The teasing tone. She was definitely imagining things.
"Not as much as I need to keep up with you, tiger," she replied with a wink, the dynamic between them quickly shifting back to the usual playful banter. Both of them wanted more than playful and far more than banter, but none of them had the courage to admit it, to be straightforward about it. Spencer understood it, really. Speaking made things too real. "But, seriously. I totally forgot to pick up her gift. Olivia loves reading, so I'll go to the mall. I'm glad I already bought it, so I won't get home late."
If he was a dog, Spencer's ears would have definitely perked up from how quickly he associated one thing to another. Could it be the same Olivia? Your Olivia? "Okay, mama. Be safe." Derek said.
"I will," she smiled as she hung up.
Idiots.
Maybe Derek was too serious about the "no profiling each other" rule they set.
"Let’s go, pretty boy," The dark-skinned agent stated. Spencer got up, grabbed his bag and made his way to the elevator with her.
As they chatted about nothing in particular, walking out of the precinct, he desperately wanted to ask him if she truly didn't see past Penelope's sudden shyness. It wasn't in his nature to do that, of course, but as Derek and Penelope were two of the most important people in his life, he wondered why wouldn't they be a thing by now, since they enjoyed themselves so much and were so open about their affections towards one another.
He was quickly ripped away from his thoughts when the man suddenly spoke up, “So, what's your deal lately, Reid? What's she like?"
The doctor choked on his own saliva, which made him cough like crazy. Derek laughed, but tried to help his panicked friend. "What was that, man?" he asked worriedly, once he saw Spencer had finally inhaled a gulp of air.
Face as red as a tomato, cough dying in his throat, "what was what?" Derek returned to his normal self once he noticed his friend was able to finally form a coherent sentence.
"You're gonna act dumb now that you almost died when I talked about her?" Derek questioned, teasing tone, "it was just a lucky guess, but I see you, Reid. You're daydreaming far too often for what's acceptable for the boy genius who's as focused as a laser beam."
Spencer looked straight ahead as they got to the exit. He should have cornered Derek first. "Why would you think it has anything to do with a 'her'?" He chuckled, nervous to be caught red-handed — even if he wasn't doing anything wrong.
Was it wrong to want? He felt like it was. All his life, really. Had no chance to want anything because either was a far too distant reality, person, happiness for him to grasp it or it was ripped away from him too soon, before he could even acknowledge what was happening inside him. That's why want was almost a foreign sensation for Spencer. He had been deprived of it for as long as he could remember.
"Because people get a little dumb when they're in love. At least, ordinary people do. Apparently, so do geniuses," he snickered, his mind also set on teasing Spencer.
Maybe it was dumb to reveal his secret, jaw dropping crush on his cute neighbor, but he wanted some sort of relief to that mess of tangled thoughts inside his head and the strange, to say the least, feelings brewing on his chest whenever he saw you. You barely knew each other. But he supposed it was yet another part of the want he wasn’t familiar with: it didn't need much and it took all consciousness out the door. It wasn't uncommon for him to feel like his heart was being ripped out of his chest whenever he was on the field, especially since he was often facing danger. The way the events were unfolding were scarily similar to his cases: he noticed you, made up theories based on your behavior and routine, and slowly, oh, so slowly, started to approach you. Not to put you away, but for more personal reasons.
What was different was the feeling in his heart, instead of the sensation of being squeezed painfully inside his ribcage, often leading to ragged breathing, now felt like it was being held delicately by a pair of caring, dainty hands. Either way, his heart was fighting in the frontline and relied on the other part to be calmed and saved. The least he could do was try to be careful, finally opting not saying anything to Derek.
"Just a lot on my mind lately," he chose to say, instead. Derek dropped the subject, too tired to press it further.

Olivia's party had come to an end an hour ago. You got to see old friends and talked until they got every single ounce of information about your life lately and so did you about theirs. Your daughter had enjoyed her party greatly, and hugged every. single. person. who came to wish her happy birthday and thanked them for being there. She paid little attention to the gifts, too focused on spending time with her friends, playing with them until the sugar rush wore off — all of them had a massive candy intake that day. You didn't spend much time with her, but she promised you that she would unwrap her gifts the next morning with you, the most adorable toothless grin on her face.
Despite everything flowing accordingly, all day long, your stomach churned with anticipation. You wondered if Olivia's dad would show up, since the day she was born was, quote, the happiest of his life. His parents did, and when you looked at them anxiously, his mother shot you a neutral glance. Not a word from his end was its meaning. Your daughter never asked anything about him during the day, which made you even more jittery. You feared she would have a breakdown at any time, so you paid extra attention to her.
It never came.
You had missed the deadline of a book chapter that you had to revise, too caught up on trying to balance everything in your life, so your parents told you they'd stay with her so you could go home to work and take her in the morning. Normally, you wouldn't accept it, but your father had decided you were too tired to wake her to go home, so you complied. Right after the guests left, you did all the steps of her night routine, except for the bedtime story — she was that tired of all the running around in the backyard. You were sure she would sleep all night long.
Once she dozed off, you stood for a moment in her grand-bedroom (she had come up with that and it kind of stuck with you). Your parents had decorated it while you were still pregnant. She needs to feel at home, was what your mother said when you walked in on them assembling her crib. You almost cried, overwhelmed with joy. Your fiancé, then, had rolled up his sleeves to help out. Oh, the irony.
Her room was full of photographs that held many memories of her six years of life. You could never imagine that you could love this much, let alone dedicate yourself so entirely to someone like you did for her. Even though it was hard and you often didn't feel like you were enough to raise her on your own, Olivia was a wonderful child and her gestures and overall behavior assured you you were doing a good job. The reflection brought tears to your eyes. You drove home by yourself.
Currently, in your apartment, it felt a little too big without Olivia in there — too many books, too many chairs, too much space on your sofa, too many toys scattered around with nobody to play with them. You sighed, deciding on going to the kitchen to make you a cup of tea — you felt like your brain was hammering inside your skull and you still needed to spend time in front of a computer screen. Going back to your small office to wallow in self pity and second guess yourself even as you read whatever material it was, you heard a knock on the door.
You checked your watch. 9p.m. On a Saturday.
Weird.
Through the peephole, you saw someone you truly weren't expecting. "Spencer?" You asked as you opened the door, surprise filling your being. "I didn't think you'd come, I supposed you were at work. I mean, sometimes it feels like you barely have a routine, heh. But, um, thanks for dropping by." You said, a little unfiltered. Not even five seconds in his presence and you were already making a fool of yourself in front of him.
He held a small bouquet of flowers in one of his hands and a gift in the other. To a stranger's eye, it seemed like he had missed your birthday and was trying to apologize for it. You blushed at the thought. He shut his eyes, sorry crossing his features. "I know. I'm sorry I missed it, even though I really didn't want to. You were right, I was away on a case." You smiled, dismissing his apologies and soothing his worries once you did so.
"It's alright with me. She was totally expecting you, though. Kept asking where you were for the first hour. Then she got distracted with candy," you told him, "so she's the one you're gonna need to apologize to." You joked.
"T—that's why I'm here."
"I'm just not sure if Olivia is old enough to get flowers," you said, face serious. His eyes went wide and it took him a moment to understand, but once he looked at your serious expression cracking, his shoulders shook with laughter, with you. If you had more attention, you'd seen the moment his ears turned red.
Your laughter died down. A beat of silence. "These are actually for you." He revealed.
You were stunned. "Oh," you said, suddenly at a loss of words. "Thank you so much."
He gave you the flowers and you gracefully accepted. You were mesmerized by them; colors swimming in harmony before your eyes and the scent making you feel dizzy. Maybe not the scent, but the emotions you were feeling with the surprise. He went out of his way to get you those flowers — it's safe to say that it had been a while since you felt that way. "I—I have no words, Spencer. Really. Thank you so much," your voice choked.
You looked at each other for a brief moment. You tried to show how much you appreciated his gesture. You grinned, trying to get out of that haze, "Do you want to come in? Oli's with my parents, so you won't be able to apologize today," you quipped, making room for him to enter.
"Yeah, I'd love to."
"You can place the giftbox on the coffee table." He went inside, toeing off his shoes in the small space you had before the living room. Once he was there, he saw you enter the kitchen to find a vase. He could see you from where he stood. "Make yourself at home. Do you want some tea? I have Earl Gray."
Your voice was distant as he took in his surroundings. "Yeah, I'd like it." He murmured as he looked around. Your walls were a light gray, adorned with pictures of you and Olivia, some people he assumed were some of your friends. The wall behind the sofa was entirely covered by a big bookshelf that went from one end to the other, filled with books and souvenirs from basically everywhere. The dark wood of the furniture complemented the light walls in a cozy way, some toys and kids books scattered around the floor. The apartment smelled like fresh printed sheets of paper and earl gray tea. You had a few indoor plants that looked well taken care of. Spencer was admiring your degree from Stanford, which hung on the wall beside the TV, almost close to the door.
"One of my biggest achievements. Besides Olivia, of course," you approached him with his mug of tea. Turning to you, he noticed through his peripheral vision that you had placed the flowers inside a vase and in your coffee table.
"Thanks," he said.
"So... are you okay?"
The question caught him off guard. What?
You smiled a little. "You always look kinda tired when I see you," you said, not thinking about how your words might be interpreted. Your eyes widened, realizing it. "I mean, no! Sorry! You're still pretty, don't worry. It's just— I asked because you might be going through something. Forget I said anything about your looks."
He would definitely never forget.
Spencer laughed, flustered, eyes softly gazing at you while you rambled like a madman. "I'm fine, thanks for asking. Sometimes my job is a little demanding and I'm forced to see some things that usually people don't even think exist," he confessed.
You bit your lip. "I'm sorry."
"You don't need to be," he retorted, "I have a great team to work with."
"I'm glad to hear that. Sorry I brought it up, you probably don't want to talk about work right now." You said, sipping on your tea.
"Yeah, you're right, again," he chuckled. "How was Olivia's birthday?" He tried a change of subject.
"That was actually the reason I was moping when you got here," you said, trying to force a chuckle. "It was nice, I guess. I was just on edge all day trying to anticipate her emotions regarding her dad, but I guess they never came. At least, not today." You beckoned him to sit with you on the couch, now facing each other directly.
"May I ask why?" He asked, tentatively.
"Why what?"
More hesitance. "Why wasn't he there?"
"From what I know, he moved away." You said, tone unreadable.
He worried that he was overstepping and wasn't sure that he would like to hear more about it. He was scared to find out unpleasant news, such as you still had feelings for him. "I'm sorry." Was all he could muster.
"Don't be. I have a great team," you repeated his words from earlier and he smiled at you.
His brain and tongue didn't seem to be working together that night, he was so avid to know more. "Did you always have support?"
"My parents didn't like the idea of having a single mother when they first heard it. It hit me hard back then, but then I realized it was better to be alone than to stay in an unhappy relationship, especially since Olivia was already in the picture." You said, setting your own mug on the coffee table.
"What happened?" Stop it.
He couldn't help it, he was too curious. It was his first opportunity to truly know the novel sort of family that you had. Apparently, not so much.
"He was distant before leaving. Someone else, maybe?" You asked, rhetorically, a crease between your eyebrows. "I never found out, but I don't want or need to, either. His parents absolutely love Olivia and they were there today, 's all that matters."
"You’re a very strong person."
"I have to be," you said, softly. "You’re a very good listener."
A rush of courage running through his veins. Deciding on not taking the road of unsaid things, like his friends were earlier. Don’t dance around the subject, take the opportunity. Dare. "And you're just as pretty."
The world stopped. You looked at him in disbelief. It didn't last much. A knock on your door. Scratch that: someone banging on your door.
You pinched your eyebrows together. Spencer stood up, almost as if he was doing something wrong. You looked at him, apologizing, "I'm not expecting anyone."
You walked to the door and he stood behind you, telling you he was going to let you be. You didn't want to and you were already chastising yourself from not trying to talk to him and focusing on your problems instead. You opened the door and in the threshold stood Penelope Garcia, gift basket in hands. Before you could speak, both of your guests spoke at the same time.
A mortified "Garcia?" from Spencer.
A surprised "Spencer?" from Penelope.
Finally, a confused "Do you know each other?" from you.
"Yeah. We work together." Spencer replied. "What are you doing here, Penelope?"
"What are you doing here, boygenius?" Her tone now was teasing, a cheshire grin on her face. You were acting confused, but you were loving to see Spencer so out of place.
"I... I was..." He trailed off.
Poor thing. "He came to drop Olivia's gift. We're neighbors." You explained, trying to save him from further embarrassment.
She glanced between you two, eyes full of mirth behind her glasses. "I'm here to do the same." She said, smiling as she handed you the basket, which you took carefully and thanked her with a side hug. "There's her present, sweetcheeks. I'm so sorry I couldn't be there, you know how much I miss you and Olivia. But I'm sure our genius told you all about it." Her sentimental words truly held emotion, but she turned her attention to Spencer once again. The opportunity was too good to let go.
Spencer looked like a fish out of water. You opened your mouth to speak, but he beat you to it. "Garcia, can we talk?" He asked abruptly. "I'm sorry, I have to go." He murmured in a much more soft tone to you.
He could never resume whatever was going on in there because he felt like he had been caught with his pants down.
You were so surprised you didn't even process what was your answer, forgetting to ask if Penelope wanted to come in or anything. "I—Okay. I'll see you, then." With a small smile and slight disappointment in your voice. He all but dashed out of your apartment and took Garcia, who had a mischievous expression on her face, with him. You closed your door and looked at the mix of flowers. A sigh escaped you. Damn, Garcia.
Spencer was escorting Penelope back to her car, ready to bury himself alive because he knew she would run her mouth and knew precisely to whom she would tell about it. And, of course, the endless jokes he would hear during the next few days. "Sooooo..." She trailed off, suggestively.
"I—don't want to talk." She opened her mouth, but had no success in talking. "Not. A. Word."
She entered her car and started the engine as he waited for her to go. But before she started driving, she yelled, "I knew you had it in you, Reid."
From your balcony, work long forgotten, you watched Spencer hide his face in his hands in utter embarrassment.
You were doomed.

pick an image to find out how your future spouse is with you
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
reminder that not all of the messages in this reading may apply to everyone. so with that i urge you to take what resonates and leave the rest. don't force anything if it does not fit. this reading is mainly just for fun. don't forget to follow or reblog if you want to see me do more readings like this.
pile one
this person is obsessed w you, like they are in LOVE love. & i dont mean in like a creepy "they are never going to leave you alone" type of obsessed, more like you are their favorite person ever and they love hanging out w you all the time. some drake lyrics were coming thru while doing this reading: "everybody has an addiction, mine happens to be you." i feel like very rarely will this person ever not get excited to just be in your presence during your whole marriage. like i can still picture them looking at you the same way they did on your wedding day even when you're both old n grey. they also happen to be a huge romantic so it makes a lot of sense. whenever they have good news they rush to tell you bc they want you to be the first person to share their happiness with. they're overall very sweet, i don't see them being the jealous type - i think they trust you enough to be scared of you going off with some other person. and you'll never even think about anyone else when you're with them because they treat you so well.
pile two
this person's love language is deff physical touch and it'll show when you're around them. they love hugging you and being intimate and doing all that sort of stuff. they honestly do not care where you both are because nothing is going to stop them from giving you forehead kisses or hugs. they love the way that you smell, it reminds them of walks in nature and pieces from their childhood. they love teasing you as well, they're very affectionate w you. they're incredibly supportive and also humble. i see you both being on a ton of trips, particularly road trips, but normal traveling is also coming through. i feel this person may not be as outspoken ab how much they love you, like they won't outright say "i think you're the most beautiful person i know" to you but don't worry bc they definitely think that you are. they have a very unique way of showing their love and i feel that you are someone who tends to pay more attention to details than others which makes you perfect for this person because while others may overlook or misinterpret them, you see them for who they are.
pile three
this person is super fun to be around, like they have the best energy ever. & i dont mean in a "they're always the life of the party" way, more like they make even the smallest moments feel special. i feel like whenever you're having a bad day, this person knows exactly how to cheer you up without even trying. they're the kind of person who surprises you with little thingamabobs and trinkets all the time just to see you smile. like they'll randomly bring you food that you like without you even asking them. they also happen to have a great sense of humor (that's kind of subtle but you like it) so you'll always be laughing a lot together. they’re overall very supportive of you, i don’t see them being the type to criticize your dreams. you'll always feel appreciated bc they will never take you for granted. though his laid-back and relaxed personality are behaviors you see often, you know your future spouse better than anyone. they're very inspiring and honestly i feel like you both will work on a project together bc you share similar dreams (i'm seeing some sort of art form, probably like writing or smth along those lines)
thanks for reading! if you enjoyed or resonated please heart and reblog so i can do more of these readings.

part two
now playing: mind games by sickick
-------------------------
It all started when you met Jake Sim. He was the campus guy—popular with the girls, adored by the professors, the kind of person everyone gravitated towards, but still had the kind, innocent, and nerdy element to him. If there was a charity event, Jake was organizing it. If someone had tech problems, Jake was fixing them. He had this effortless way of making you feel like you were the center of the world when he spoke to you.
You weren't immune to it, either. As a new freshman, you’d heard his name long before you met him. So when you found yourself at a party a month into your first semester trying not to look out of place, Jake was the last person you expected to notice you.
You weren’t even supposed to be at that party. Crowded rooms filled with loud music and drunk strangers weren’t exactly your thing, but your new friend/roommate Ava insisted. She was the kind of girl who thrived in any social setting, the life of the party, effortlessly magnetic, something you learned the first day you moved in with her.
With her status as an upperclassman, she knew everyone worth knowing and had declared that you had to go to the “first party of the year” because it was “going to be epic.” So, naturally, she dragged you along.
Now you were nursing a watered-down drink in the corner of a house that smelled like cheap beer and vanilla-scented candles. Ava stood beside you, casually pointing out all the people she deemed “important”—guys and girls she seemed to have endless stories about, whether those memories were good, bad, or in between.
“Oh!” she said suddenly, nudging you with her elbow. “That’s Jake Sim over there. Real nice guy, everybody loves him.”
You followed her gaze across the room. He was leaning against the kitchen counter, talking to a group of people who seemed completely captivated by whatever he was saying. Even from a distance, it was easy to see why. He had that kind of face—sharp jawline, warm smile, the perfect amount of confidence in the way he carried himself. His dark hair pushed back slightly over his forehead, like it had been styled that way on purpose.
You nodded without saying anything.
“You know,” Ava smirked, “I feel like he’s been eyeing you across the room for a while.”
You blinked, startled. “No he hasn’t.”
“Oh, he has. He’s doing that thing guys do where they pretend to listen to the conversation but keep glancing at you like you’re the main event.”
And who’s to say you weren’t the main event? Sure, this was your first official college party and the atmosphere felt a little out of your comfort zone, but it’s not like you spent your whole life as some awkward wallflower. You’re hot and you have what it takes to make men gawk and stop to stare at you on the streets. Even if you were oblivious about it. Even if you didn’t care. Plus you were a new, young face to the campus. And what do college boys with raging hormones love more than some new, hot, fresh meat?
You rolled your eyes, trying to brush it off. I mean, yeah, Jake was cute, but you weren’t going to entertain the idea of him eye fucking you across the room from your very tipsy friend who definitely should take it slow with the alcohol. You came here to accompany your friend, not for some popular boy. And that’s what you were going to do. At least that’s what you told yourself.
You couldn’t help sneaking another glance in his direction. Sure enough, his eyes met yours for probably the hundredth time that night. Your breath caught for half a second as he smiled. Not a quick, polite one, but the kind of cocky and sly smile that made it seem like he knew something you didn’t.
“See?” Ava whispered, “Told you.” Before you could argue, Jake excused himself from his group of drunk friends and started making his way towards you. Your instinct was to bolt, but Ava was quick to grab your arm, holding you in place. “Oh my god, he’s coming over here.”
“Shut up. Don’t make it weird,” you hissed under your breath.
“Me? Never,” she said, but the mischievous glint in her eyes told a different story.
Jake stopped a few feet away, holding a red solo cup in one hand, the other casually tucked into his pocket. “Hey,” he said, his voice so smooth but unassuming that for a second you didn’t know if he was talking to you or Ava, until his eyes eventually met yours. “I don’t think we’ve met. I’m Jake.”
You hesitated for a moment, your throat dry. But Ava on the other hand, ever the social butterfly, was already beaming with her response. “This is _____. She’s a freshman. And she’s my new roomie.”
“Ah,” Jake said, his smile widening as he held out his hand. “Nice to meet you. Freshie huh? Welcome to the chaos. If you ever need a hand settling in, don’t hesitate to ask. I know Ava over here wasn’t exactly the most put-together during her freshman year,” he playfully teased.
Ava rolled her eyes, a smile tugging at her lips. “Yeah yeah, whatever,” she replied in defeat. You could tell they shared some history together, though the details weren’t something you cared to uncover at the moment.
You shook his hand, feeling his strong grip and his overwhelming gaze. “Thanks,” you managed to mumble, your voice quieter than you intended.
Ava, clearly delighted, nudged you again before stepping back. “I’m going to find another drink. You two have fun.” She shot you a not so discreet wink, one Jake clearly noticed. He responded with a low, undeniably attractive chuckle that stirred something inside you, something you knew you shouldn’t be feeling.
And just like that, she was gone, leaving you alone with him.
Jake tilted his head slightly, studying you with an intensity that made you want to fidget. “So, what do you think of the party?”
“It’s… loud.”
He chuckled and you awkwardly laughed in return. “Yeah, not really my scene either,” he admitted. “I was actually about to head out. Want to join me? I know a quieter place where we can talk.”
You hesitated, something about his directness caught you off guard. You’d been in similar situations like this before—situations where boys had tried to talk you into following them to their rooms and the like. Now, you weren’t inexperienced when it came to men, but a one night stand with someone you’ve been conversing with for about 45 seconds didn’t seem like something you were interested in at the moment. But that wasn’t what Jake was implying. You could tell he wasn’t like other guys in the past, the ones who were all too eager to make their intentions clear. There was something different about the way he carried himself.
And something different, there definitely was. But we’ll get to that part later.
Jake was patiently waiting for your response while you contemplated. You looked up at him and he smiled again, that disarming, perfect smile, and for a moment, you forgot why you were even questioning it.
“Sure,” you replied, not realizing then that this was the moment that everything in your life would change.
------------------------------
“So,” you asked, glancing out the window at the quiet streets passing by, “where are we?”
Jake gave you a sideways glance, his hand relaxed on the wheel. “Just a spot I like. It’s nice to get away from all the noise sometimes, don’t you think?” His voice was warm, almost teasing, like he already knew you’d agree.
You nodded, leaning back in your seat. “Yeah, I guess.” The party had been a bit much for your taste, and the idea of some quiet didn’t sound half bad. “Do you come here a lot?”
“Not really, I usually only bring people I actually want to talk to.”
Your cheeks warmed at that, and you looked down at your hands, fumbling with the hem of your dress. “Well, that’s nice of you.”
He chuckled softly. “It’s not about being nice. You just seemed different. Thought it might be worth getting to know you better.”
His words caught you off guard, not knowing whether to take it as a compliment or not, but the way he said them felt so genuine, so effortlessly charming, that you couldn’t help but smile. “Different how?”
He shrugged, his eyes flickering to you briefly before returning to the road. “You’re not like everyone else. You’re not trying too hard, you’re just… you. It’s refreshing.”
Even though it sounded so cliché, he wasn’t lying. But it’s not like you were trying to be different. I mean, it wasn’t hard for someone like you to stand out from a crowd of drunk girls, definitely trusting their tiny tops and micro shorts way more than they should, especially at a college party, basking in the attention of young, hungry men. But maybe that’s what they wanted. Maybe they want the recognition, the attention. You don’t. Not because you couldn’t pull it off—you could—but you didn’t care to. You weren’t there for the feeling of lingering eyes on you, and that was obvious to anyone paying close enough attention. And Jake paid attention. Oh, he did for sure. The moment you walked in the room, he noticed the way you carried yourself, not chasing the spotlight like others. And also mostly because you weren’t trying to whore yourself out at every given moment like everyone else, girl or guy. But it intrigued him, igniting a flicker of curiosity and a peculiar intent that he’d never felt before in the back of his mind.
You let out a soft laugh, unsure of how to respond. “Well, thanks, I guess.”
Jake’s grin widened. “Don’t mention it.”
As the car slowed and he turned down a quiet street, you realized you weren’t sure where you were, but the thought barely lingered. Something about the way he spoke made it hard to think too much. It felt easy, almost natural, to trust him. And that was the scariest part.
------------------------------
The door clicked shut behind you, and before you even had a chance to set your bag down, Ava was already perched on her bed, eyes sparkling with curiosity.
“So,” she grinned, tucking her legs under her, “how was it?”
“How was what?” you asked, feigning oblivion as you dropped your bag onto your chair.
Your roommate groaned dramatically, sitting up straighter on her bed. “The date! You leave me in the middle of a party that you were supposed to be my date for, with the most popular guy on campus!”
You rolled your eyes and crossed your arms. “It wasn’t a date. We just… hung out.” You tried your best to sound indifferent, but Ava was already grinning.
“Whatever it was, tell me!” she demanded, practically bouncing on her bed.
“It was... nice,” you replied, trying to sound casual as you kicked off your shoes.
“Nice? That’s all I’m getting? Did you guys talk? Do anything?”
“No, we didn’t do anything. And I didn’t want to anyway. He was very respectful.”
“Of course he was,” Ava said, throwing her hands up like it was the most obvious thing in the world. “I mean, it’s Jake we’re talking about here. The guy’s practically perfect. Teachers love him, girls worship him, and he still manages to have this whole humble, good guy image.”
You let out a small laugh, shaking your head. “Exactly. Nothing shocking there.”
“Still, I just had a feeling he’d be different with you.”
You froze for a second, glancing at her. “Different? Why?”
“Because I’ve seen how he is with other girls. Trust me, they throw themselves at him all the time, and he’s always so polite about it, but he never seems interested. He doesn’t make the first move. Ever.” She shrugged, as if it were no big deal. “But tonight? He came straight for you.”
You shrugged back, brushing her comment off with a small laugh. “I think you’re reading too much into it. He was just being nice.”
Ava raised an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced, but she didn’t push further. And you? You kept brushing it off, like you always did.
------------------------------
As you walked back into your shared living room after your nightly shower and routine in the bathroom, you glanced over at Ava. “Hey, by the way, what did Jake mean earlier? You know, when he said you ‘weren’t the most put-together’ during your freshman year?”
She just snorts, clearly unbothered by the memory. “Oh, that. Yeah, I was kind of a hot mess back then. Partied a lot, made some questionable choices. But, hey, isn’t that what college is for?”
You chuckled. Makes complete sense, honestly. “I was just curious. For a second, I thought maybe you two had a thing or something.”
“A thing? Well… kind of.”
Your head snapped up.
She shrugged casually, like she was recounting a minor detail. “There was this one party my freshman year. We were playing spin the bottle, and it landed on Jake. So, yeah, we kissed. Or, well, made out. But it only happened once.”
You blinked, not sure how to respond. “Oh. Uh, okay.”
“It wasn’t a big deal, I swear. It was years ago, and neither of us cared enough to make it weird. It’s not like it’s awkward or anything now. We don’t even bring it up.”
You nodded slowly, trying to process the new information. “Got it. Not jealous or anything,” you muttered, mostly to yourself, though the thought does linger for a second. It’s not like you had any claims on Jake, but… still.
“Good. Because honestly, you and Jake? Totally different vibe. I think it’s cute.”
You rolled your eyes, grabbing your water bottle to avoid letting the conversation stretch any further.
------------------------------
A few days later, Jake was leaned back against the couch in his apartment, a half-empty can of soda resting loosely in his hand. His friends were scattered across the room, voices bouncing off the walls as they talked about the usual—classes, campus drama, upcoming events—but his mind was somewhere else entirely.
“So, what’s with you?” Jay, his closest friend, asked, nudging him with his foot from across the coffee table.
Jake blinked, realizing he’d been quiet for too long. “What?”
“You’ve been zoning out for the past five minutes. Let me guess, girl troubles?”
That got the attention of the others. “Girl troubles? Jake Sim?” Sunghoon chimed in, laughing. “Yeah, right.”
Jake shrugged, pretending to be nonchalant, but the small, almost imperceptible grin tugging at his lips gave him away. “It’s not like that.”
“It’s totally like that,” Jay teased. “C’mon, spill.”
He hesitated, running a hand through his hair. “Her name’s _____. I met her at that party the other night.”
“Wait, the one you ditched us for?”
Jake just chuckled and nodded, his gaze dropping to the can in his hand. “Yeah. Her.”
Then Jay let out a low whistle. “Damn, guess I never expected you to be the one to take the lead for once.”
“It’s not about that,” Jake said quickly. “She’s just different. She doesn’t try to stand out, but she does. I don’t know, man. She’s—” He stopped himself, shaking his head with a faint chuckle. “Forget it.”
“No, no, keep going,” Sunghoon pressed, leaning forward. “You’re actually into her, aren’t you?”
Jake didn’t respond, but the way his jaw tensed and his eyes flicked away said enough.
“Wow, well, I mean, good for you, dude. She’s gorgeous. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if half the guys on campus are already trying to get her attention.” Jay implied.
That comment sent an unexpected pang through Jake’s chest. He tried to dismiss it, but the thought lingered, other guys noticing you, talking to you, maybe even flirting with you.
“She doesn’t seem like the type to fall for just anyone,” Jake said, though it sounded more like he was trying to convince himself.
“True,” Sunghoon agreed. “But still. She’s new, she’s pretty, and she’s got that whole ‘mystery girl’ vibe going on. Trust me, people are going to notice her.”
Jake forced a laugh, but the unease was already settling in the back of his mind. You didn’t seem like the type to entertain random guys, but the idea of someone else getting too close to you didn’t sit right with him.
The thought stayed with him long after his friends had moved on to another topic. It wasn’t jealousy, he told himself. It was just concern. You were new to campus, probably still finding your footing, and he didn’t want anyone to take advantage of that.
He told himself it was harmless as the idea began to form in his mind. Just checking in on you, making sure you were okay. Not in an overbearing way, of course. You wouldn’t even know. It was just the right thing to do.
And if it gave him peace of mind? Well, that was just a bonus.
That night, Jake sat hunched in front of his glowing PC screen, the only light in his room casting long shadows across his walls. His fingers hovered over the keyboard with an eager sort of precision, scrolling through page after page. What was he looking for? You. Only you.
It wasn’t like him, spending hours like this, completely absorbed in something he couldn’t explain. But there was something about you that was different. Like an itch he couldn’t ignore, let alone resist scratching.
Finding your Instagram hadn’t taken long. A couple of clicks here, a mutual tag there, and suddenly your whole world was laid out before him. Your name. Your face. Your posts. From there, it was a rabbit hole he couldn’t help but dive into. Facebook? Found it. Tumblr? Found it. Pinterest? Of course. Each new profile unlocked a little piece of you, a puzzle he was determined to solve.
Hours passed, and Jake found himself digging deeper, further back into your life than he had any business going. He paused on a blurry group photo from high school, his eyes immediately locking onto you. Awkward braces, a side ponytail, and a shy smile that tugged at something strange in his chest. He chuckled softly to himself, his lips curving into a grin.
“Cute.”
The realization of how long he’d been doing this emerged at the edge of his mind, but he was quick to brush it off. I mean, who doesn’t do this? Everyone stalks their crush. It’s not weird. It’s normal. He was just curious. That’s all.
And yet, even as he closed out one tab and opened another, Jake couldn’t shake the nagging sense that this wasn’t enough. The photos, the posts, the snippets of your life he was piecing together, they still felt distant, impersonal. He wanted more. Needed more.
His hand hovered over the mouse for a moment before he opened Instagram again, pulling up your most recent story. You were out earlier with a friend, walking with a coffee in hand, the city bustling in the background. It was mundane, ordinary. But to him, it was fascinating.
You were almost like an unsolved case to him. Every photo, every caption, every comment was a clue, something to dissect and overanalyze. The way you angled your head in selfies, the way you always seemed to wear rings on your right hand. Did that mean something? Maybe it was just a habit, or maybe it wasn’t. He didn’t know, but the not knowing made him dig deeper. Each little detail was like a breadcrumb leading him further down a path he couldn’t stop following.
It boosted him. Every new discovery sent a thrill rushing through him, like solving the next piece of a complex puzzle. The high school photos, the forgotten Pinterest boards filled with dreamy quotes and wedding décor. He was piecing together a version of you even you didn’t know you’d left behind.
The rational part of him, however, it was there. Buried somewhere, trying to surface, to remind him that this wasn’t normal, that this wasn’t healthy. But the excitement, the adrenaline of knowing so much about you, drowned it out every time. You were fascinating. You were beautiful. And you didn’t even know it, but by leaving that party with him that one night, you were letting him into your world.
It felt intimate. Special. Like he was uncovering the real you, the one hidden behind the edited photos and casual captions. And Jake? Jake couldn’t get enough.
He leaned back in his chair, his eyes flickering to the clock. It was late. Too late to still be sitting here. But he didn’t care. You were under his skin now, in his mind, in his every thought.
And he convinced himself, once again, that this was fine. Perfectly fine. He was just looking. There's nothing wrong with looking.
Right?
He didn’t notice it yet, but he was crossing a line he didn’t realize he was already standing over.
------------------------------
It was a perfectly normal Saturday afternoon. You were at the local grocery store, a basket in hand as you roamed the aisles, debating between two different brands of pasta. The store was buzzing with life. Kids whining for candy, parents arguing over coupons, the hum of soft pop music barely audible over the chatter.
You were zoning out, staring at the shelves, when a familiar voice startled you.
“Hey, fancy seeing you here.”
You turned sharply, and there he was. Jake. Dressed in a simple hoodie and jeans, he looked casual and relaxed, the epitome of “guy next door.”
“Oh. Hey, Jake. What’re you doing here?”
“Grocery shopping, same as you,” he said with a grin. “Though I’ll admit, I didn’t expect to run into you.”
You smiled politely, feeling a little awkward. “Yeah, small world.” And it was then that you realized Jake wasn’t holding a basket or a grocery cart at all. You glanced down at your own, practically overflowing with items, while he stood there empty handed. Maybe he had stopped by to grab something quick.
He glanced at the shelves, his eyes scanning the items before landing back on you. “Pasta night?”
You held up the two boxes in your hands. “Debating between these two. Any recommendations?”
He stepped closer, pretending to study the boxes like it was a life or death decision. “Well, this brand’s sauce clings better,” he said, pointing to one, “but this one’s texture is nicer. Depends on what you’re going for.”
“I didn’t know you were a pasta expert.”
He grinned. “There’s a lot you don’t know about me.”
And for some reason, that stuck with you. You had this feeling that he was being truthful, but not in a good way. Like there was more to that statement than he was letting on, something hidden beneath the surface. A part of you couldn’t ignore the unease creeping up your spine, but his smile was so convincing, that you pushed the thought aside. Maybe you were overthinking it.
You shook your head, putting one box back and dropping the other into your basket. “Good to know. Maybe next time I’ll consult you for my grocery list.”
He chuckled, his gaze lingering on you for a moment longer than felt necessary. “I’ll hold you to that.”
The two of you ended up walking through the aisles together, Jake casually slipping into conversation as if this wasn’t entirely coincidental. He asked you about your week, made jokes about the odd products on the shelves, and even recommended a snack or two that he claimed was “life changing.”
It was easy to forget the awkwardness at first, Jake was good at that. He made people feel comfortable, like you were the only person in the room, even if it was just a crowded grocery store.
But as the conversation went on, little things started to feel… off.
Like how he seemed to know exactly what aisle you were heading to next, always a step ahead, grabbing things you hadn’t even noticed. Or how he mentioned a specific brand of matcha you liked, something you didn’t recall ever telling him.
Or when you turned to grab a few more things, and you noticed Jake picking up items—fruits, snacks, even the same brand of shampoo you had chosen—things that seemed oddly familiar to what you were already grabbing. You glanced back down at your basket to where you noticed Jake running out of room, even in his big arms, that he had casually started to place some of his items in your basket, almost absentmindedly.
At first, it was just a few, but then his arms began to overflow with more things. You couldn’t help but notice how he seemed to be running out of room. His hands were awkwardly balancing a few cans, some fruit, and the bottle of shampoo, all piled up like a small tower. It was kind of cute.
"Uh, you might want to grab a basket," you said, eyeing the growing pile in his arms. "I don’t think you’ll fit everything."
Jake looked down at his arms, then back at you with a slight laugh. “Oh, right. Thanks for the reminder.”
He glanced around awkwardly, like it hadn’t even occurred to him.
I mean that was kind of weird, right? The thought lingered, but you brushed it off as you continued your shopping.
And then there was the moment at checkout.
You were unloading your basket onto the conveyor belt when Jake casually reached for the same brand of chocolate you’d grabbed earlier, dropping it into his basket with a small smile.
“What?” he asked when he noticed your raised brow. “You have good taste.”
It was harmless. But the way he casually mirrored your actions, not just then, but from the moment you saw him in the store, you’ve noticed how it seems like he’s not just casually shopping, but actively observing you and somehow always knows what your next move is.
Maybe you’re just being paranoid. It’s getting late after all, the sun is beginning to set and here you are, with a guy you don’t really know all that well. Of course you’re going to be a little on edge. It’s just womanly instincts.
But as you walked out of the store, bags in hand, and saw him heading in the same direction as you—despite you being certain he lived on the other side of campus—that faint unease crept back in.
“Need help carrying those?” he offered, gesturing to your bags.
You shook your head quickly. “No, I’m good. Thanks, though.”
He nodded, still smiling. “Alright. See you around, then.”
And as you started walking away, you couldn’t shake the feeling that his gaze lingered just a little too long, like a predator waiting for the perfect moment to pounce on their prey. It was subtle, but the intensity of his stare made the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, even as his smile never wavered. You tried to dismiss it, telling yourself it was probably just your imagination running wild. After all, it’s Jake. Everyone loves him.
------------------------------
"So, Jake asked about you," Ava said casually as she applied her mascara, sitting across the room.
"Wait, what?" you asked, sitting up from your bed. It was 7 a.m. in the morning, and you had just been jolted awake by your roommate’s loud music blasting from the bathroom a few minutes ago.
"Yeah, said something about how he wants to ask you out. Take you on a real nice date. Then end it off with spreading your legs in the back of his car."
You froze, your heart racing in your chest. “Wait, what.”
Your silence was then followed by laughter. "Oh my god! I’m joking!"
You let out a huge sigh of relief, but then you playfully shot her a look. "Ava, do not play with me like that." But honestly, you were kind of serious too.
She shot you a grin, clearly amused. "Oh, come on, you’re so easy to mess with. But seriously, you know you wished I wasn’t joking.”
You rolled your eyes at Ava’s teasing and went back to scrolling on your phone. “Yeah, okay,” you muttered, not giving it much thought.
“He did actually say something about asking you out, though.”
You paused, glancing up at her again. “Are you messing with me?”
She swore up and down, looking completely sincere. “No, I’m telling you the truth. He said he wanted to take you out for a nice date. That’s what he told me.”
“I still don’t buy it.”
“I swear on everything, I’m not lying!” Ava’s voice was insistent now. “So what’s the deal? You gonna go?”
You hesitated, unsure. “I don’t know…”
“What do you mean, you don’t know?” Ava scoffed, clearly frustrated. “Girl, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Every girl wants a night out with Jake. You’d be crazy not to go.”
You chewed on your lip, contemplating her words. It's not that you wouldn't enjoy going out with Jake, it's just that something about him still unsettled you. You couldn't quite put your finger on it, but there were moments where the way he looked at you, or the way he seemed to know a little too much about you, made you feel like you were under a microscope. It wasn’t overly creepy, but there was an underlying tension that you couldn’t ignore.
Still, you couldn’t deny that you liked his company. He was charming, funny, and his attention was flattering, sometimes even a little intoxicating. But you weren’t sure if it was just his charm that kept you second guessing those little moments that made you feel unsure
“It’s not like that. I mean… he’s nice, and he’s funny, and I enjoy being around him. But, I don’t know. Sometimes, I just feel kind of weird around him. Like, there’s something about him that makes me feel uneasy. It’s like… something’s off.”
Ava tilted her head, unimpressed. “You’re being paranoid. Honestly, I never feel that way around him. He’s always been chill, and I’m sure he’s just trying to make a move on you. Stop second guessing it, okay?”
You sighed, but Ava wasn’t having it. She was determined to get you to say yes.
And honestly speaking, a part of you wanted to get to know him more too. He definitely knew how to make a girl laugh, and he was great at contributing to conversations. There was an ease to the way he spoke, like he was genuinely interested in whatever you had to say. And you couldn't deny that there was a certain chemistry between you two. He was charming, effortlessly so, and that smile of his? It melted you every time.
You were sure he was a great kisser too. I mean, those plump lips of his didn’t look like they lied. They were always so close, so inviting. The thought of it made your pulse quicken a little, despite yourself.
So, why not let yourself live a little? Everyone around you was practically begging you to take the plunge. Ava was begging you to go and she knows him better then you do, so when she means he's no harm, she can't be lying. You could use a night of fun, a little excitement. It didn’t have to be anything more than that. After all, he was just a guy. It wasn’t like you were doing anything wrong by saying yes, right?
So a few days later, when you saw Jake waiting outside of your class and finally asked you on a date, you had no reason to say no.
------------------------------
So here you were. At the edge of a nice lake surrounded by a cute park. Jake beside you, rambling on about some random topic that, honestly, you weren’t even sure you were fully listening to. He had a way of talking, of keeping the conversation flowing smoothly, making it feel like you were the only two people in the world. His voice was soft, relaxed, and as he gestured with his hands, you couldn’t help but watch the way his muscles flexed under the sleeves of his shirt.
You'd almost forgotten why you were so nervous about meeting up with Jake in the first place. The whole thing felt so natural now, so effortless. His laugh was contagious, his stories engaging, and his presence so easy to enjoy. As the sun started to dip lower in the sky, casting a warm golden glow over everything, you found yourself laughing more than you had in weeks, the worries and uncertainties slipping away.
“So,” you said casually, glancing over at him, “what exactly are you majoring in, by the way?”
“I’m in engineering. Tech stuff.” He shrugged like it was no big deal, but you could tell by his tone that he took pride in it. “It’s all about computers, networks, systems, you know? It comes in pretty handy,” he added with a sly wink.
“Handy?”
He chuckled softly. “Yeah. I mean, you never know when a little extra knowledge can be useful. You’d be surprised at how helpful it is until you need it,” he said, his eyes narrowing slightly as if implying something more, but before you could react, he eventually changed the subject.
You two wandered the park, your footsteps light, side by side, as you talked about everything and nothing. The air was crisp and refreshing, and the sounds of the nearby water and chirping birds only added to the peaceful vibe. The awkward tension you'd felt in previous encounters with Jake was now a distant memory.
But as the sky darkened, and the park became quieter, something shifted between the two of you. It wasn’t anything obvious, but there was this electricity in the air that hadn’t been there before. It was like everything had led to this moment.
You both stopped by the water, your shoes crunching against the gravel path as you looked out over the lake. The soft waves lapping at the shore reflected the dimming sky, and for a moment, the world around you felt suspended in time. Jake leaned a little closer, his arm brushing against yours as he turned to face you.
"I’m glad we did this," he murmured, his voice soft, almost too sincere.
You smiled, feeling a warmth spread through you that had nothing to do with the summer evening air. "Me too."
And then, without warning, Jake’s hand cupped your cheek, and he kissed you. It was gentle at first, just a soft press of lips, and it shocked you definitely, but you melted into it, letting go of any lingering hesitation. His lips were warm, his touch delicate, and for that brief moment, you forgot about everything—forgot about the nagging thoughts that had been chasing you all day.
But then, suddenly, the kiss deepened. His hands moved to your waist, pulling you closer as the kiss turned more urgent, more demanding. His lips were now on yours with an intensity that surprised you, and before you knew it, you were pressed up against him, his body a solid wall against yours. His hand gripped your hips so tight that it sent your mind into a frenzy as he groaned loudly against your lips.
You pulled away for a split second, your heart racing. "Jake... we’re in public," you whispered, your voice shaking slightly.
But he didn’t stop. Instead, he kissed you even harder and took this opportunity to slip his tongue inside your mouth, his hands now reaching further and further down your waist, pulling you towards him. The world around you felt blurry, as if you were floating in a bubble of his touch, and for a moment, you forgot where you were, who you were with—forgot about everything except him.
But then reality came crashing back in seconds. You broke free from the kiss, taking a step back, your breath coming fast. "Jake," you said, voice shaky, "we’re outside. There are other people around." You glanced around nervously, your eyes darting over the now dark park, thankful that no one was nearby but still aware that you were far from alone.
Jake just looked at you, his expression still soft but with a glimmer of mischief in his eyes. "Oh, sorry. I’ve just been really wanting to do that," he said casually, like it was no big deal.
You weren’t sure how to feel about his nonchalance, but you tried to dismiss it, even though a knot formed in your stomach. "Right," you muttered, taking a breath to calm yourself.
For a moment, the air between you both felt charged, and you couldn’t shake the feeling that maybe things were moving faster than you were ready for. But as Jake stepped back with a small grin, his eyes still warm, you felt yourself ease back into the moment, convincing yourself it was just him being... well, Jake. Charming, spontaneous, and maybe a little bit too eager.
So, when he grabbed you by the arm with a playful grin and said, “Come on, I know this great dessert place,” practically dragging you along with him, you told yourself this was just Jake’s way of showing he cared. You told yourself there was no harm in it. Jake was just spirited, maybe a little intense, but in a charming way. That’s all it was.
The rest of the night went smoothly enough, or at least it seemed like it. You talked and laughed some more, and by the time Jake dropped you off in front of your apartment, you found yourself in a bit of a daze. The streetlights cast long shadows, but all you could focus on was the lingering feeling from earlier. The kiss—the intensity of it, the way he didn’t seem to care about where he was or who might see. You’d been caught up in the moment, but now that it was over, that uneasy knot was back in your stomach.
"Thanks for tonight," you said, your voice a little quieter than you intended as you unbuckled your seatbelt.
Jake turned to look at you, his eyes soft, almost too sincere. "Anytime. Let me know when you want to do this again."
"Yeah, I will." You hesitated for a second, unsure if you should say more, but then the words just seemed to evaporate. Instead, you opened the door, stepping out and giving him a small wave as you walked up to your apartment.
As you entered the building, your thoughts kept circling back to that kiss, to his lack of concern about where you were or who might be watching. You’d had fun, no doubt, but there was a part of you that couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.
You tried to push the thoughts aside, telling yourself you were overthinking it. Maybe it was nothing. Maybe he was just that kind of guy. But the unease in your chest only grew heavier as you walked to your room, and you couldn’t help but wonder if you were starting to see him for who he really was.
------------------------------
You and Jake had started hanging out more and more after that date, and you couldn't deny it, you were falling for him more than you expected. Sure, sometimes he did stuff that made you question things, but he wasn’t perfect. So what?
Today, you were studying for some upcoming exams at the school library. The space was quiet, and even though you were focused on your work, you enjoyed having him there. Jake had brought you both coffee and snacks, and the atmosphere felt warm and cozy. You were sitting across from each other, the constant clicking of keyboards the only sound in the otherwise still room. It was a perfect setting, relaxed, comfortable, and you found his presence quite calming. It only felt natural.
“One sec, I’ll be right back. I have to use the bathroom,” you announced, getting up from your chair.
Jake didn’t say anything and just nodded, his eyes still glued to his screen, focused on whatever was on his laptop. But as soon as your back was turned and you were walking away, Jake’s attention shifted.
His eyes landed on your bag, which was slung over the back of the chair next to where you were just sitting a few moments ago. The handle of your tote peeked out from the side, and something shiny caught his eye. It was your keyring. The familiar silver glint of your room key sat half-hidden inside your bag. You must’ve forgotten to tuck it deeper, but it was unmistakable.
Jake’s gaze lingered on it for a moment longer than usual. He looked around, ensuring no one was watching, before reaching over with careful fingers. The motion was almost imperceptible, but he slid the key out of your bag, letting them rest lightly in his palm. He checked the surrounding area once again. No one was looking.
His pulse quickened just a little, the thrill of the action sinking in. You were gone, out of sight, leaving him with this small window of opportunity.
He looked at the keys. They weren’t just any keys—they were a way in.
Jake sat there for a moment, the keys tucked securely in his pocket, a sense of satisfaction bubbling in his chest. He knew it was a little risky, but it was too perfect to pass up.
He glanced around again, making sure no one had seen. This wasn’t some spur-of-the-moment decision—he’d considered this before, the idea quietly simmering in the back of his mind.
He’d thought about sneaking into your room before, just out of curiosity (or so he told himself). But he never quite figured out how he’d do it without raising suspicion. The idea had first occurred to him a while back when he submitted a 3D-printed model of a robot for his tech project. It wasn’t just a cool demonstration of precision, it was proof of how easy it would be to replicate almost anything if he had the right dimensions.
Now, with your keys in his possession, that idle thought from a while ago clicked into place. The perfect way to turn a passing fantasy into something tangible.
It wasn’t like it would be hard to replicate the keys. After all, he was an engineering major. He had the skills. The tools. The knowledge. With the advanced tech available to him, specifically his access to the 3D printers in the lab, replicating those keys would be a breeze. The thought was almost laughable. No one would be the wiser.
The more he thought about it, the more the plan excited him. He could “find” the real key after he made the spare, casually give it back to you later, and look like the hero. The savior. You’d think he was just looking out for you, a kind guy who happened to stumble across your lost key. The hero who went the extra mile to return something precious.
And you’d never know he’d taken it in the first place. Hell, you might even think it was a sweet gesture.
A small, almost smug smile crept onto his face as he imagined it. He liked the idea of being the guy who could fix everything for you, who could always be the one to make things right. In your eyes, he'd be the one who cared, who was always there for you, just the kind of guy you'd want to be with.
The plan felt so natural, so flawless. He didn’t even feel guilty. It was for you, after all. It wasn’t like he was doing anything wrong. Just helping you out in the best way possible. It would only bring him closer to you, make you appreciate him even more.
You came back from the bathroom a few minutes later, the library air still cool and comforting as you settled back into your seat. Lost in your own thoughts, you picked up where you left off in your study notes. The soft clicking of your laptop keys and the rustling of paper were the only sounds filling the space between you and Jake. It wasn’t until you stood up to gather your things, ready to head out, that you noticed something was off.
You dug through your bag, feeling around for your keys, the ones you’d left in there earlier. But they weren’t there.
You froze for a second, your eyes scanning the table and the chair you’d been sitting in. It was only then that you realized they weren’t in your bag at all.
“What?” you muttered, frowning as you scanned the surface of the table. “Where did I put my keys? Jake, have you seen them?”
He was already standing up and grabbing his things by the time, pausing for a second and giving you a slight shrug. “No, haven’t seen them,” he said, as he put on his best “confused” face, sounding completely genuine. “You’re sure you put them in there?”
You nodded, trying not to panic. “Yeah, I’m sure.”
“Well, if they’re not in your bag, maybe you forgot to bring them. They’re probably somewhere in your room still. I’m sure they’ll turn up.”
There was a little panic in your voice as you started to shuffle through your things. “But I could’ve sworn I left them right here…”
“You don’t have a backup key or something?”
You sighed, realizing you hadn’t thought this through. “No. It’s fine though, Ava’s home. She can let me in. I’ll just buy a new one later.”
Jake smiled a little wider, his mind already running through possibilities, but he kept his tone light. “Alright, guess that works.”
You still seemed a little confused, but the moment passed. You dropped the subject and started talking about something else while you two were getting ready to leave. But Jake could tell—you were distracted now, just a little bit. He’d planted the seed. Maybe you’d brush it off, or maybe you wouldn’t. Either way, he was confident it would only matter if he wanted it to.
When you both walked out of the library building, the late afternoon sun casting long shadows across the campus, Jake slipped his bag over his shoulder and turned to you with an easy smile.
“So, I think I’m going to head home and get some rest,” Jake said.
You nodded, still rummaging through your bag, trying to keep your mind off the missing keys. “Yeah, same. I’ll probably head home too.”
"Sure thing. Have a good night."
“Night.”
Then you walked away, completely unaware of the keys now nestled in his pocket, Jake’s expression shifted. That easygoing smile lingered, but there was a sharpness in his eyes, a focus. He wasn’t heading home, not yet, anyway.
Instead, he made his way across campus to the engineering building. The hallways were mostly empty at this hour, the hum of the fluorescent lights echoing faintly. Jake swiped his student ID at the lab room door, stepping inside to the familiar scent of metal and machinery. The quiet whir of the 3D printers waiting in the corner greeted him, and he felt a surge of anticipation.
Pulling your keys out of his pocket, he set them down on the workstation. His fingers worked intently with great focus as he measured and scanned the key, inputting the data into the design software. The model on the screen was precise, the ridges and cuts an exact match to the original.
As the printer came to life, Jake leaned back in his chair, a faint grin tugging at the corner of his mouth. By the time the printer finished its work, the replica key was indistinguishable from the original. Jake inspected it carefully, his mind already running through how he’d “find” your keys and return them to you, playing the part of the helpful friend. You’d never suspect a thing.
Pocketing both the original and the replica, Jake left the lab, the grin still lingering on his face as he made his way home.
------------------------------
The next day, Jake managed to find you after class. “Hey, look what I found at the bottom of my laptop bag,” he said, holding up your keys with a triumphant smile.
Your eyes lit up as you recognized them. “Oh my god, no way.”
“Yeah, guess you must’ve accidentally dropped them into my bag instead of yours. Good thing I noticed before it got buried under all my stuff.”
You let out a relieved sigh, taking the keys from him. “Seriously, you’re a lifesaver. I was about to go buy a new one.”
Jake chuckled, shoving his hands into his pockets. “Well, glad I could spare you the hassle. So… are you free today? Thought maybe we could grab some food or something.”
You gave him an apologetic smile. “Oh, sorry. Me and Ava already made plans. We’re going shopping downtown, actually.”
For a brief second, Jake’s expression faltered, feeling disappointed. But just as quickly, it was gone, replaced by a soft smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes. “Oh, no worries. You two have fun.”
He hesitated for a moment, then added, “What time are you heading out? Just curious.”
“Uh, probably around noon,” you said, shrugging.
“I see. Cool. Anyway, have fun. Maybe we can hang out later this week.”
You smiled and nodded before heading off, completely unaware of the shift in Jake’s demeanor as you walked away. If you were going to be gone for hours, that left him with the perfect opportunity.
------------------------------
Jake’s heart raced as he stood in front of your door. This was it. He had thought about this moment so many times in his mind, playing out every detail, and now, with your absence leaving him a window of opportunity, he was finally here. Now, he couldn’t shake the feeling of excitement mixed with a strange sense of calm. It was a risk for sure, he knew that, but for some reason, the thought of being in your space, of having access to the things that were uniquely yours, felt almost...right.
You had just left with Ava, heading to the subway station. He knew because he was watching. He had to be sure you were completely gone before he made any moves. But now, he could finally do what he had been waiting to do for so long.
Slowly, he pulled the replica key from his pocket, his fingers trembling with a mixture of excitement and disbelief. He aligned it with the lock and turned it, the soft click echoing in the silence. It was almost euphoric. The moment his ears caught the sound, he felt his breath catch in his throat. The sound of success, of having everything perfectly fall into place.
Jake breathed a sigh of relief, though he couldn’t place why. Was it the thrill of it all, the forbidden nature of what he was doing, or just the satisfaction of knowing he had outsmarted you? He wasn’t sure. All he knew was that his body was finally moving, his heart pounding as he pushed the door open ever so slowly, just a crack. Then the gap widened just a bit until it fully swung open, and it revealed your shared apartment, the space you inhabited. His eyes scanned the layout, taking in the unfamiliar sights, the small and intimate details that made this place unmistakably yours.
It was small but cozy, with a cluttered bookshelf lining one wall and a comfy couch facing a tv. A coffee table sat in the middle, a few magazines scattered on top, and beside it, a worn-out rug that had clearly seen better days. The kitchen area was visible in the corner, neat but not pristine, just lived in enough to feel real. He could see the faint light coming in from the windows, the sun still high, casting long shadows across the hardwood floor. And then, one of the bedroom doors was slightly ajar—he couldn't help but notice it. Could that door be yours?
Just the thought of going into your room made the region below in his pants twitch. But he could get to that in a moment.
He stood frozen, his gaze sweeping across your private sanctuary. He could hardly believe it. This was your space, your life, and he had made it.
His thoughts swirled in a hazy mix of excitement, guilt, and something darker. He knew he had to move quickly. You’d be back before long. So, he manned up and finally took a step inside. His feet felt heavy, like they were sinking into the floor as he closed the door behind him with a soft click.
Jake froze again. The weight of what he’d just done settled on him in that brief moment of stillness. But then, just as quickly, the urge to explore, to be a part of your world, surged forward. He stepped further into the living room, his hand brushing along the arm of your couch, lingering as though he could feel the traces of you still there.
He looked around, breathing in the air, and a small smile tugged at his lips. This was his opportunity. This was his chance to get even closer to you, to understand you in ways you’d never suspect. He wanted to leave his mark here, in this space where you were supposed to feel safe and in control.
His eyes drifted to the small table beside the window, a few personal items scattered across it. There he saw some books you had mentioned reading in past conversations with him.
He looked even further. Soft blankets littered the couch as Jake bent down to smell them. Some didn’t smell like you, him inferring they were mostly used by Ava. But the others smelled so strong he felt like you were practically there beside him. He spent a good while just inhaling the aroma of you, reminiscing the scent, until he finally snapped out of it.
Jake’s gaze shifted toward the bedroom doors again, but this time he didn’t linger. He hastily made his way over to them. There were two doors across from each other, and Jake’s heart picked up speed as he walked toward the one on the right. He opened it slowly, his breath catching as he stepped inside. The room felt familiar, but not quite right. He scanned the walls, noting the framed photos of Ava and a few other girls, laughing and posing together, but no sign of you. The realization hit him: this wasn’t your room.
Without hesitation, he moved to the door on the left, his mind racing with anticipation. As he pushed it open, a wave of relief washed over him. This was it. This was the space that had been calling to him in the back of his mind, the space that felt like it was meant to be his, even though he hadn't been invited.
Your room.
The first thing he noticed was the soft glow from a string of fairy lights hanging across the ceiling. The room was cozy, warm, comforting, even. A faint scent of pumpkin spice lingered in the air, almost like it was designed just for you. His gaze swept across the space, taking in the details with a sharp, almost clinical eye. There was a bed pushed against the far wall, with a soft, pastel comforter neatly arranged, and a small desk cluttered with books, papers, and a laptop. He rummaged through them, but was careful enough not to make it seem like your stuff was being messed with. There were assignments, drawings you made, and a few other things, but ultimately, he started to get uninterested.
So he got up and delved further into your room, heart hammering in his chest, as he moved to your dresser, glancing at the things you had left behind—lip balm, a few stray earrings, a bottle of perfume. His fingers lingered over the objects, each one feeling like a piece of you that he could claim.
Jake could feel the weight of it—the tension, the thrill—this was more than just curiosity now. This was ownership. It was like stepping into your world and realizing, for the first time, that he could be a part of it in ways no one else could. No one else was here. No one else had access like he did.
He opened every single drawer of your dresser, inspecting every single article of clothing you owned. Including the ones he’d seen you wear frequently and ones you’ve seemingly barely touched. He noted your dark grey hoodie that you seemed to live in basically, but also noticed your more scandalous and sexy pieces, wondering why you never put those on for him in the past? One by one, he searched through your dresser from top to bottom. Then he reached the last and final drawer and as he was sliding it open, it never dawned on him what clothes it would occupy until it was fully opened.
Panties. Tons and tons of panties.
Jake froze.
He just sat there, staring.
And staring.
And staring.
But as much as he enjoyed looking, he was eventually slowly reaching in the pile of stacked underwear and grabbing as many as he could.
He brought them up to his face, inhaling the foreign scents of your undergarments. These were obviously your clean pile, but Jake was so focused on what he possessed in the moment, he didn't seem to care. But then, a familiar throbbing in his jeans began to emerge at this point, however, he was still too focused on the many pieces of fabric in full display right below his very own eyes. He then began to look around more. He noticed most of them were thongs. Some cotton, some laced. Some had cute patterns on them; bows, for example. And some were more mature, with dark red or black lacy fabric.
There were bras too. He didn't ignore those.
Now, one thing about you is that you know how to cover yourself up, especially in the upcoming colder seasons. So, when Jake saw your bras tucked away in the back of the drawer and pulled one out, you could say he was shocked at the least, to see it was pretty much big enough to be at least a C cup.
This realization made his cock even more excited, now to the point where he couldn't hold himself back any longer. Jake then immediately unbuckled his jeans as fast as he could, ripping off the buttons in seconds, until he shoved his pants down, right under his ass where he could finally access his poor, frustrated dick, in desperate need of attention.
He pulled it out of his boxer briefs in haste and groaned at the sight. It was red. Angry red, and bulging out in full length already, right in front of him. He gripped it tightly and let out a hiss in pain. But it was a good pain.
His eyes trailed down from the bottom all the way to the top, noticing his veins protruding out even more than they usually do.
Sure, he's jerked off to the thought of you (or pictures of you) countless times before. But now, that he's here—in your room—with full and complete access to your bras and panties, his dick simply just can't take it.
But it will. Jake needs it to.
So, he started moving his hand up and down slowly at first, getting used to this new uncomfortable feeling, until his cock finally calmed down. Jake threw his head back, eyes shutting tight, mouth open in a silent moan. He tried imagining in his head what you would like wearing just your bra and panties. What would you wear for the first time with him? Would you put on something sexy and alluring? Or would you go more cute and innocent? All the thoughts were turning him on too much.
He looked back down at your drawer and spotted a laced baby pink thong peeking out through the bottom of the pile. With no hesitation, Jake immediately grabbed it, looping it onto his dick while he continued to jerk himself off.
The now added friction of the cloth made his cock even harder at this point, which he didn't know was even possible. But after minutes (that seemed like hours), his hand began to grow tired and cramped up, trying so had to release, yet subconsciously edging himself every time he was about to. With a groan full of exhaustion, he momentarily stopped, giving his hand a quick break. He let out a short gasp of air, panting with adrenaline.
But when he glanced down to his still very hard and throbbing cock with your cute little panties wrapped around it, he grabbed it again, this time even harsher.
"Come on, come on," he muttered to himself, frustrated, with furrowed eyebrows. He shut his eyes tight again, imagining himself pounding into your tiny little cunt. He wondered if you wouldn't be able to take it—the thought of you struggling to fit it in all the way. He liked that idea a lot. He would kiss your forehead, tell you he would go slow. And then he would ram himself into you, giving you no time to adjust.
But then he wondered if maybe you'd surprise him, and turn out to be a cock slut, riding it so well, like a beast. He groaned at the thought of it, speeding up his hand even more, gripping his cock even harder. The idea of you bouncing relentlessly, not giving his dick a break until he came inside of you, which sounded just too good to be true. Would you grab your big ass tits and squeeze them right in front of his face? Would they bounce uncontrollably as you rode him like there was no tomorrow?
"Yeah, just like that. Don't stop," he basically whispered to himself in bliss, his imagination getting the best of him. "Fuck, I'm so close baby," he whimpered.
And just like that, he was coming undone. Right then and there, unleashing his load onto your carpeted floor with seemingly, no care in the world.
He laid there, panting out of exhaustion. After he caught his breath, he smiled to himself, a dark, satisfied grin that tugged at the corners of his lips.
He could hear the faint sound of traffic outside, the world continuing without a clue about what he was doing inside these walls. His fingers traced over your cum filled panties once more, and grabbing more from your drawer, each item feeling like a new possibility—a piece of you he could add to his collection.
For a moment, he couldn't shake the feeling of victory. It was as if the world was his, and everything he'd been waiting for was finally within his grasp.
But just as the saying goes, good things never last. And just as quickly as the euphoria had flooded him, the sound of your front door squeaking open shattered the calm, and his eyes widened in fear.

It felt like the air had been beaten out of your lungs by the very one and only blunt blade you ever knew when you heard the news from Gojo.
Of course the first thing he did when he finished wrapping things up was calling you. If roles were reversed, and this had been Geto, he wouldn't expect any less from you.
During the School's Exchange Event, Jujutsu High was attacked by multiple high grade curses and curse users.
One of them was your former best friend from high school, Nanami Kento.
"Are you certain it was him?"
"Absolutely," Gojo replied on the other side of the line, "there were traces of cursed energy from his cursed technique. He was also spotted by one of MeiMei's ravens."
"And how many students did he…"
"Two students from Kyoto."
Your head instantly felt dizzy.
"He also killed around a dozen assistants and people securing cursed objects underground."
"Shit… shit," you muttered, forgetting for a few seconds what words were and how to form a coherent sentence. Following suit, your stomach dropped with a sinking ache the moment you made the obvious realization, uttering the most painful thing you had to say in your life — even worse than he's gone, so many years before.
"This will earn him a death sentence, won't it?"
Gojo was silent for a few moments.
"Hey…"
"Tell me. I can take it."
After a bated breath — from your end, mostly — he confirmed your worst fears.
"Yes. It will."
Ever since Geto's and Nanami's defection, you and Gojo had a special type of shared sorrow over each other's failures to save the people you both loved the most. Call it trauma bonding or codependency, but you developed an unwavering sense of loyalty towards one another.
For that reason, he already knew what you were about to ask him, and you only would because you knew he wouldn't find it in himself to refuse it.
"When it happens, please, have me be appointed as the executioner."
"Of course."

Sitting with a glass of whiskey while gazing out of the window in an understated house just by the outskirts of Sendai, Nanami couldn't say he was fulfilled, unable to grasp the concept of feeling in any way elated ever since his teenage years. However, he was definitely satisfied that this plan had worked.
He managed to put a dent into Jujutsu Society, aiding Geto — or, at least, someone that looked like him, not that Nanami truly cared about it by this point — in retrieving multiple cursed objects that would be used for their inevitable fallout.
There had been a few casualties, though.
Two students and many personnel died — or rather, met their fateful end by the edge of his blunt blade —, but some deaths should be expected if Jujutsu Society was to be brought to the ground, down to its last brick.
Ever since that fateful day when he was nothing but a tall child sitting beside the cold corpse of his best friend, Yu Haibara, Nanami had simmered what would become a cauldron of absolute venom-dripping rage against Jujutsu Society.
To hell with saving other people — what about them? What about the teenager that would never grow to be a sorcerer, who became an inanimate nothing before ever getting the chance of making something out of himself?
That face… Nanami could never forget it. It haunted his dreams, even a decade later. Such a stark contrast between the light-spirited smiles and this cold, gray monolith that laid in the morgue.
They had no right to rob their students from their youth, much less from their lives, but that's exactly what Jujutsu High did when they didn't even bother to check the mission appropriately before dispatching Haibara and Nanami to a certain death.
Nanami escaped, but just barely, by the skin of his teeth. Haibara, however, wasn't blessed with the same luck, and drew the short straw when his hitched final breaths met their end against Nanami's shoulder. Nanami, who carried his best friend on his back, desperately tried to win a losing race against death.
Help was late to arrive.
They were too late for Haibara.
And, in a sense, they were too late for him, too.
The worst part, though, was when they were finally being transported all the way back to Jujutsu High. As he glanced over Haibara’s cadaver, now covered by a body bag, one particularly insensitive assistant very rudely stated, “at least there is a body to be buried.”
At least
There is a body
To be buried
Those words echoed in his head for what felt like eternity. Was that the best they all had to hope for? To at least have remains left behind for the mourning?
In any case, that was why, even though he had to kill, Nanami never mangled any of his human victims — something not easy to do, given how his technique worked and how easy it was to split someone in half.
You had noticed this perverted benevolence while looking over the necropsy reports, a realization that just added insult to injury.
Let there be something for the funeral, I suppose, was what he told himself.
In his own twisted way, Nanami figured this was a kindness very few sorcerers received at their tragic ends, and decided he'd definitely be more compassionate than what Jujutsu High put their sorcerers through.
In his eyes, those from Jujutsu High who died under his will were the ones granted a truly merciful death.
His peace was disturbed by the sound of the entrance door being brutally kicked in, flying its way across the living room. He pulled his blunt blade from the side of his armchair with his free hand, but quickly put it down when realizing it was you that had just barged inside.
He knew you very well — well enough to be certain you wouldn't come swinging at him immediately.
"I can see you still have a temper. Destroying the door wasn’t necessary, I would've opened it for you," he stated, sipping on his drink.
"I don't care," you retorted, "I guess you already know why I'm here, in any case."
"I do. You're here to carry out my death sentence," he stated, completely unbothered, as if talking about the weather.
As if he was just mundanely stuck in his ways.
You huffed, placing your hand over your sword's handle.
"Precisely."
"We haven't spoken in a long time, why don't you take a seat?" Nanami inquired, pointing at the armchair right in front of him. "I want to finish my drink."
You glared at the curse user, as he, unfazed, kept gulping on his whiskey. Nanami was wearing a black buttoned shirt, black pants and black oxford shoes, and you couldn't help but see him as a grim reaper — this was a somber look, fitting for the equally somber man who carried it.
For a second, you took in his features — you hadn’t seen Nanami for a few years after the last time you crossed paths.
His shoulders had slightly broadened, and he still bore the same chiseled face, framed by his sand-blond hair neatly slicked back.
Nanami’s eyes traveled over you quickly, apparently doing the very same thing.
Time had left its marks. It was evident you both had grown up — and apart.
You knew this was a shit idea, but entertained it enough that you actually walked towards the chair and sat down. There were definitely things to be talked about, and you just about had a million questions for him.
Most of them, however, boiled down to what you immediately asked.
"Why did you do it?"
Nanami put his glass on the coffee table right in front of you.
"It was a necessary means to an end."
His words came with frost-bitten coldness, his voice embodying the monotone you once loved, but eventually, grew to hate.
You scoffed, incredulous at his reply, involuntarily clenching your fingers around your katana's handle as it laid on your lap.
"Necessary means to an end? Nanami, you killed teenage sorcerers!"
"As I said, and I don't like repeating myself," he interjected, "it was a necessary sacrifice for a greater cause."
"You're such a hypocritical, self-righteous ass!"
Nanami sighed, clearly displeased.
"We have always been able to keep some semblance of respect for each other, despite our… differences. Do not use that foul language with me."
You laughed bitterly, no amusement or fun in your voice as you did.
"Do you think I can still have an ounce of respect for you after what you did? You murdered my people! They were all sorcerers. You killed students, Nanami! Jujutsu High's students! Just like Haibara once was!"
He shot his eyes at you, and the aura of his cursed energy grew sinister at your words.
"Don't say his name."
Yu Haibara, arguably the glue that kept the trio together. You were hot headed, Nanami was intransigent, and Yu was the conciliatory ray of sunshine that kept you two — but you, particularly — from constant quarreling as classmates nearly every day.
But back then, you'd argue with Nanami with love.
This wasn't the case now.
Not entirely, at least.
"He was my best friend too, the three of us were! Do you really think this is what he would've wanted?!" you questioned him, equal parts hurt and enraged.
"I'm not one to ponder on could've or would've been's. Haibara is gone."
"I'm not a would've been!"
You could still remember it. The day you realized why dealing with Nanami and hearing his sharp comebacks riled you up so intensely.
You finally understood you were in love with him.
Ever since the first day you met Nanami, you envied the way he'd be able to keep his feelings in check when you constantly felt like falling apart. You felt jealous at how he was considered a greatly competent individual, regarded by all as the best of your class, while you were basically viewed as a ticking bomb nearing explosion. And finally, it made you livid the way how everyone treated him like the informal leader of the trio when the three of you were out on a mission together.
However, those were the same things that got you to admire your friend and, eventually, fall in love for him.
That day, you asked Nanami to meet you outside after class by himself — much to Haibara's dismay —, because you had something to tell him. It was a Tuesday afternoon, and the unforgiving sun of summer was already setting, casting an orange glow through the leaves of the tree you were both under.
After confessing your feelings for him and bracing yourself for being shot down, because why the hell would Nanami Kento, the brilliant, competent, and mature second-year, have any interest in the chaotic, hot headed mess you were, you realized he actually looked surprised. After taking a few moments to collect himself, Nanami told you how he had thought you actually hated him.
At last, somewhat nervous — but definitely intent on not letting it show —, he confided he had affectionate feelings towards you as well.
Your first kiss was awkward, as it would be expected out of two inexperienced people such as you and Nanami were at that age, but it carried the sweet taste of a blue spring marked by teenage years' innocence.
It felt like a promise.
Unfortunately, such promise was unmercifully cut short the very next day, when Nanami and Haibara were dispatched to their life-changing mission.
What an irony it was that, in the end, you were the one to actually mature over Haibara's death, growing up to be an upstanding sorcerer, loved and admired by peers and students alike, and Nanami was the bomb to blow up in everybody's faces.
What a cruel irony.
"I was there too, and I'm still here, having to pick up the pieces of what you deliberately destroyed!" you rasped, angrily.
"You weren't a 'would've been'? Where were you when we needed you? When I needed you?" his voice didn't conceal the tinge of hurt that those questions carried.
What a fucking low blow.
"Nanami, that's not fair. There wasn't anything I could've done in that situation, and you know that!"
You blamed yourself for a while for not going on that mission with them, until you realized that you too would probably have died if you were there. From the three, Nanami was the only one strong and fast enough to pull off an escape like he did.
He diverted his gaze back to the window.
"You were the one to bring up hypothetical scenarios. Let's indulge in them for a minute, shall we?"
Nanami glanced back at you, and his next words brimmed with bitter resentment, even if his voice sounded more calm and collected than ever.
"You see someone you supposedly love slowly sinking into darkness. What do you do?"
"Don't you dare, you condescending prick! I asked you so many fucking times what was going on. You were the one who shut me out!"
Your voice carried a decade-old pain that resonated from the depths of your soul.
It came from all the times you entered his dorm room with his favorite sandwich after he had cooped up in there for days on end, and he didn't even bother to eat it. Every time you asked him to talk to you, said you were there for him, and was met by a vacant stare.
And, at last, the time when he cruelly blamed you for not being there when Haibara died.
The way he coldly told you about Haibara's last words.
According to Nanami, Haibara said he wanted to speak to you one last time, at least to bid you farewell.
And you weren't there.
Oh, the viciousness with which he blamed you, and decided you owed him something for this perceived failure.
The next time Nanami talked to you, he asked you to leave Jujutsu High with him, just like Geto did, and swore to destroy them. You tried, pleaded, implored for him to reconsider and stay, but the very following day, you were met by an empty room where the person you once loved used to be.
That emptiness had, paradoxically, filled you wholly with grief.
Gojo once told you that nobody could save someone who didn't want to be saved.
You still thought you should've tried harder, in a childish attempt at giving yourself an illusory semblance of control over that clusterfuck of a situation.
This is the gap inside our psyche that feeling guilty tries to fill, isn't it?
We can only feel guilty about the things we could've changed, right?
Your voice sounded decades older than yourself, burdening the weight of multiple lifetimes of hurt and grief. Your soul was too old for your own good.
"How can you find it in yourself to blame me for this?! No… This is a prison of your own making. You built the house of cards that is tumbling down on your head as we speak entirely by yourself."
He huffed intensely through his nostrils — Nanami’s version of a snort —, looking the other way before proceeding, each syllable hitting you with the deadly precision of his cursed technique.
"You abandoned us, leaving me and Haibara to fend for ourselves, just like Jujutsu Society did."
By that point, you began yelling, and your voice reverberated all across the room.
"The hell I did!"
You had to take a deep breath before proceeding.
"I just couldn't get behind this dumb idea that we should become curse users and bring down Jujutsu Society."
"Why didn't you come with me?" he finally asked, in an amalgam of pain, sadness, longing, anger, and stinging resentment. "I would have followed you to the deepest recesses of hell if you asked me to."
You huffed, laughing angrily in between your teeth, before thrusting your words like thorns against him.
"Funny you should say that. You'd go anywhere for me? How about staying? Why couldn't you have stayed for me, then?!"
Perhaps that request was egotistical, but you didn't care. If only for a moment, you wanted to give yourself this small privilege — to want in a world of duty.
"I was the one actually left to fend for myself, right inside the belly of the beast, and you couldn't have cared less."
He stared at you, nothing in his eyes other than the void left behind after his spirit got killed with his best friend so many years ago.
"I didn't stay because… Because," Nanami stated, with a grave finality, "and you're the one who chose to stay. You're still actively choosing to, just like you did back then."
"That's not a good enough answer," you replied with a bad taste in your mouth.
"It's what you've earned," he coldly replied, "but in case you change your mind-"
"Enough," you interrupted him, incredulous that even after everything, this man had the nerve of suggesting you'd ever be interested in running away with him. "It appalls me you would even consider I could… After what you've done? No, never."
Nanami sighed, and for a brief moment, seemed to be actually disappointed under his resigned, polished visage.
"Well, then. Let's get this over with, at once."
In a split second, you pushed your chair on the ground, falling on your shoulders and rolling on your back, dodging his lightning-fast attack. It left a crater behind, right where you were seconds before. Nanami jumped over the fallen armchair, and you dodged him once again, spinning on your heels, unsheathing your sword as you did so, to deal a beheading blow on the back of his neck.
However, right before impact, you faltered, slowing down your movement.
Your own body held you back from taking his life.
He didn't seem to notice.
Nanami bent down just in time to avoid the blow, and swung his blunt blade towards your kneecap. You were quick on your feet, and jumped back, putting a good distance between the both of you.
"I can see you're actually fighting to kill," he noted, getting up on his feet.
"Of course. That's what I came here to do," you spat in his direction.
"You were never the practical one."
You scoffed.
"Guess I learned something from you."
He smiled at the irony of that, but his eyes didn't follow his expression.
Nanami lunged at you, but while you thought he'd deal his next blow in your direction, he hit your footing, having you fall on the ground. Abruptly, his blunt blade descended in your direction, but you were able to catch it and have it slip to your side using your katana supported by your hand behind it, sending a sharp, loud sound around the vicinity, trembling against the bones and flesh of the house.
You rolled on your side when he struck a new hit in your direction, leaving another gaping hole on the floor, and you jumped yourself up.
Before you could attack him, however, he took you by surprise, and you lifted your sword to defend yourself. Nanami hit your katana with his blunt blade, breaking it near where the handle and the steel met, launching your body back on the wall.
The impact knocked the air out of your lungs, and you fell to your knees, unable to recover yourself as you got up. Instantly, you heard his quick, steady steps sprinting their way in your direction.
You were cornered.
This is it.
You braced yourself for the impact, closing your eyes. You remembered his technique perfectly.
Precise, just as he was.
Deadly, just as he was, too.
You were to die at the hands of the man you loved, who had become a murderer and only a distorted, broken version of whom you used to truly love.
This seemed like an oddly cruel way to go.
However, the impact never came.
His blunt blade stopped as it was about to hit your stomach, and you opened your eyes, just to see his face mere inches apart from yours. His mountainous form blocked your view from anything else behind him, and Nanami, at that moment, actually looked like the menace he truly was.
“Why were you appointed as my executioner?” Nanami asked, much to your surprise.
“I asked to be,” you answered, holding his gaze as something went through his eyes. A hint of anger, most likely, and some sense of betrayal, certainly.
“So, you want to kill someone you once loved? You were always prone to self-penitence, so it stands to reason you’d do something idiotic like that.”
You scoffed, grimacing at him, feeling your entire body incandescent with rage.
“I fucking hate you, Nanami.”
He inched his face even closer, brushing your noses against one another, eyes stone-cold and hauntingly vacant.
“I hate you as well.”
For a moment, you wondered if he had really stopped his blade before impact. You didn't expect it, but hearing those words felt like you just had been hit, victim of a blunt trauma, at how much they tore you apart.
The same blunt trauma that severed the Nanami you once knew — the teenager with bangs, who'd always be carrying around a few spare changes to get soda cans from the vending machine for you and Haibara, in his own understated kindness — and this empty monster looking back at you.
"Good. Finish me off, then, and get your revenge for a crime I never committed. Being unfair and an all-around self-centered asshole certainly suits you, fucker."
His hand made its way up your neck, and you were pressed against the wall. The grip was firm, but not enough to choke you — it came more as a warning than anything else.
"I already told you to stop using that foul language with me," he ordered, low voice simmering with genuine irritation.
"Then make me," you challenged him, hoping for this torture to be over as fast as possible.
Just fucking kill me already.
His blunt blade fell with a thud on the floor, and you were confused for a moment, wondering if he really wouldn't give you the kindness of a quick demise. Did he plan on choking you to death?
Did he hate you that much?
His other hand came up, but before you could do anything to try to resist — which would be nothing but a futile attempt at survival, given that Nanami was physically much stronger than you —, his fingers snaked their way through the back of your hair, tugging it at the roots.
His mouth clashed against yours, all teeth, tongue, anger, and hunger, and instantly every nerve in your body flared up with a raging fiery ember you hadn't felt in years. All the pent-up resentment, hurt, and desire you had for Nanami swirled together in your gut, guiding your hands up his hair, as you also pulled on it intently, robbing him of a gasp.
You intertwined your tongue against his, and he unceremoniously bullied his own inside your mouth, leaving no crevice unexplored, as his hand on your neck descended towards your waist, where he clenched his fingers with a vicious grip. You whimpered against his lips, and he grunted in return, pushing his body on yours. His throbbing growing cock could be felt, even through both of your clothes, as he pressed it right against the edge of your pants.
When you finally parted after what seemed like a not-long-enough eternity, you huffed and panted, and albeit less than you, he was panting too.
"I fucking… hate you…" you gnarled, glaring into his eyes. The hazel-brown gaze you once adored was now clouded and dark, like the muddy waters of a deep lake.
"Shut the fuck up," Nanami groaned back, strongly cupping your cunt with his large hand. You whimpered in surprise, and he pulled you in harshly for another kiss, letting go of your hair and sex to sink his fingers on the backside of your thighs, pulling them. You immediately jumped up and threw your arms around his shoulders, as he manhandled your legs to have them hooked around him.
He quickly took you both inside the room, and tossed you on the bed, having you gasping in surprise. Before you could catch your breath, he climbed his way on top of you, pressing your body down, and clashed his mouth against yours again, making you actually lightheaded from a lack of air.
You pushed against his chest, grunting uneasy, and surprisingly, he parted his lips from yours.
"What?"
You panted heavily, nearly hyperventilating, and mindlessly rested your hand on his cheek.
"C-can't breathe…" was all you mustered up to say, trying to replenish oxygen back into your system.
His eyes softened so discreetly you nearly missed it, and his cold-ivory enclosure slightly cracked under the affectionate touch he didn't expect.
Nanami had no idea how much he had craved it ever since you parted ways, and hated himself, just a little, for how much such an innocuous gesture stirred his old feelings up, throwing his heart against his chest in a fluttering rush.
I should be over her by now, dammit.
Nanami also brought his hand up your face, and ghosted over your cheek for a second before sliding his fingers delicately down over it.
You also weren't prepared for that, and your chest tightened all over your heavy heart as you remembered your first kiss.
The way he'd cup your face in his hands.
 So delicate, so lovely.
This touch, at this very moment, felt like a painful reminder of everything you had lost.
"Kento…" you cooed, voice strained in your throat, with all the things you were sure you'd never say.
He hummed your name in return, and kissed you while sinking your body against the mattress. This kiss was different, as his lips brushed gently over yours, and his tongue tenderly teased over the seam of your mouth. You welcomed him in, and you both explored these deep waters tentatively, as he upped the intensity after each stroke of your tongues against each other.
He tasted like whiskey, and bread, and the tainted love left behind as nothing but a reminiscence of less grueling days. You couldn't help but feel robbed by him.
You both had been missing out on this for all these fucking years.
"Why did you have to go?" you asked, pulling back from him, a tinge of anger to your cadence, and another of pain in your face.
"Why did you have to stay?" he spat back at you, equal parts saddened and resentful.
His mouth made its way to your neck, and you gasped with the sensation of his warm breath mingled with saliva against your skin, as he licked and bit his way around.
You couldn’t find it in yourself to push him away, and your eyes burned with the prickling sensation of tears that wouldn’t come. You were starved for his touch, his smell, his body, even if this was the murderer of your students, of your friends.
In your head, you felt like digging a hole and throwing yourself in it, to wallow in the misery of realizing that you were about to fuck the murderer of people you loved, and that it felt good.
A pool of heat and fire shot down your insides as your heartbeats throbbed in between your legs.
You hated yourself, and on top of it all, hated Nanami.
Hated that you couldn't help but still love him, even after all he had done.
This was the setting tension in between the both of you, the two extremes of hate and love pulling against each other, all while the tug of war rope refused to snap to either side.
He pulled your shirt over your head, tossing it aside, and you undid his shirt, unzipping his pants. He unzipped you too, and quickly enough, took off your pants along with your panties with a single sharp tug.
Back to rough, but not entirely, it seemed.
His hand glided against your thigh and his fingertips slipped over your entrance, getting completely glazed by your already dripping arousal. He grunted, a guttural and intense sound deep in his chest, giving you another bite on the soft skin of your neck.
"Hate me?" Nanami asked, teasing his digits over your cunt, "doesn't seem like it."
You managed to scoff at him, which would prove to be a mistake.
"Go fuck yours-"
Before you could finish your sentence, he dove two of his fingers inside knuckle-deep, without any hint of a warning, forcefully stretching your walls around them. You immediately let out a whimper so pitiful you wondered if that was really your voice.
He seemed satisfied at that. Perhaps, even elated.
"Good girl," Nanami whispered right beside your ear, nibbling against your earlobe with his teeth, sending shivers down your spine. He began sliding his fingers in and out, and you bucked down against his hand while moaning and mewling, walls sheathing his digits as he finger-fucked your cunt, neglecting your clit as punishment for calling him a condescending prick earlier.
His palm rucked against your dripping folds, echoing wet slaps all throughout the room, as your arousal kept pooling on his palm.
He mumbled softly against your skin, bringing his mouth up to brush against yours, "hate… you still love me."
You instantly drew one of your hands to slap him in the face for this hurtful teasing, but he had quick reflexes — quicker than yours. He dodged himself back as your hand hit the empty sheets, and edged his fingers to hit against your soft spot, pressing it so violently, you let out a strained cry from the shooting overstimulation pain.
"Ah- Shit!" you shouted, face all scrunched up.
"Can't you behave for once?" he chided, "why is it so hard for you to j-just-“
Nanami’s breath hitched in his throat as he grunted, unable to finish his sentence.
You shut him up the only way you could think — grabbing his cock harshly over his boxers. It was extremely effective, and he immediately humped his length against your hand, while lowly groaning.
With trembling hands and a violent snap, you haphazardly pulled his boxers down to his mid-thighs, as his fingers kept mercilessly bullying their way inside you, sending vibrating waves all throughout your body with every thrust.
“Stop… telling me… ah-aaah-“ you rolled your eyes back with a loud moan, struggling to keep a train of coherent thought, gnarling your next words,  “what to… ah- do!”
His cock sprang out, slapping against his belly. The tip was already flustered red, leaking with pre-cum, and had a long, prominent vein on the underside.
To punish him back for the roughness, you grabbed his length with one hand, and with the other, pressed the middle of your palm against his flushed tip, glistening his arousal around it with enough force to jump across the divide between intense pleasure and painful overstimulation.
Nanami cursed with a feral voice through his teeth, immediately biting the side muscles of your neck with no semblance of restraint, making sure to leave a purple remnant of pain etched on your skin.
“Ah- ouch! Fuck!” you spat out, tightening your grip around his cock, but weakened enough to release the tight pressure against his tip, letting him fuck into your hand. His hips bucked erratically, and his lips pressed a quick kiss right where he had previously bitten.
He couldn't help it.
Suddenly, Nanami stopped his rutting fingers to press his thumb against your already throbbing clit. That instantly had you seeing stars as you cursed loudly in between moans and grunts, drawing your free hand to his head, ferociously tugging at his hair, as heat pooled in your lower abdomen like fiery embers of coal.
He grabbed your arm, pulling it away from his shaft, and removed his fingers from your walls, having them clenching around nothing at such a sudden emptiness. You began complaining, only to have your voice cut short by his tongue slipping its way inside your mouth, in a sloppy, wet kiss.
Parting from you, Nanami’s eyes were glassy, and you were absolutely sure your gaze must’ve looked just as hazy as his.
In a brief moment, before you realized it, he slid himself down, and unceremoniously lapped at your already sensitive clit with his warm tongue, hot breath tickling against your sensitive skin.
Both of your hands descended towards his hair, brushing over his golden and now messy locks more tenderly than you expected. Nanami suddenly shivered and moaned into your cunt, edging his tongue down your folds and back, eyes fluttering shut the moment he tasted you entirely.
He felt a tinge of pain clench at his chest, realizing this was the taste he had missed out on for all that time — your taste, which would surely ruin him forever.
Nanami’s pain, however, was quick to turn into outrage, as he began sucking on your clit relentlessly, eliciting the most animalistic sounds you had ever uttered.
You instinctively tried backing away, and he pulled on your thighs, holding them with such a violent force that his hand was sure to leave an engraving of his digits over your plush skin.
Nanami was intent on dragging this orgasm out of you by any means necessary.
You had never given him anything he wanted from you — be it the company to fight against Jujutsu High or the same unwavering loyalty he had for you. So this was something he’d take.
If you wouldn’t be by his side, then the least you could do was to cum for him so fervently, he’d be sure to ruin you just as much as he felt like you had ruined him. You owed him that, or so Nanami thought.
“Aaah-- Kento! S-slow d-… fuck!”
You came with a thunderous shout, jolting your hip forward as your thighs tightened with inhuman strength to the sides of his head. Nanami made sure to deliciously lick your way down from your high, applying such a precise and perfect pressure on your clit that you could’ve wept from sheer satisfaction.
After your legs went limp, he slowly climbed his way back to you, pressing kisses all over your body, leaving a ghost of heat wherever his mouth traveled. When Nanami finally reached your face, he put his forearms against your sides, hands over your shoulders, caging you in, as he pressed his mouth against yours in a slow kiss.
You were floating in a calm sea, salty waves caressing your body every time they passed through, and it felt cozy. Inviting, even. As he parted his lips from yours, Nanami gazed into your eyes in the way he used to.
For a second, you got catapulted into the past, and the orange sun that warmed your cheeks through the leaves as you kissed for the first time seemed to shine its rays over again.
With his arms around you, the nonsensical feeling of being protected washed over your heart.
“Come with me,” he whispered with a sultry, husky voice.
“Kento…” you cooed, sighing, wanting nothing more than for this moment to extend for infinity.
But it couldn’t.
You didn’t go with him, so many years ago.
And wouldn’t go now, either.
That wasn’t how it worked for the both of you.
Nanami understood it, and what seemed like another crack against his unwavering walls had formed the moment his brows furrowed above his eyes.
“Fine, then,” he said, with a tinge of genuine hurt to his voice.
You parted your thighs to accommodate his hips, and he obliged, guiding his hand down to align his cock against your entrance. You bent and hooked your legs around him, pulling him in, and as the tip of his length got pressed against your dripping cunt, he gasped slightly over your lips.
Nanami sunk in slowly, going through your already relaxed ring. However, it apparently wasn’t relaxed enough, or perhaps he was just too big, because you could feel every inch of stretching his cock made against your walls as he slowly bottomed out inside your cunt.
His mouth fell open and you exhaled a moan into it, breaths mingling together. You two drank each other in. Nanami pressed his forehead against yours, and you both held each other’s gaze, as he pulled your left wrist above your head, holding it there, pushing you down the mattress by your waist with his other hand.
After a moment for you to take him in, Nanami began rolling his hips into you, while his hand kept bruisingly pressing your wrist against the mattress. You could feel his balancing act of trying to love you and wanting to hurt you at the same time.
You weren’t so different from him in that sense, though. Your nails got dragged down his back with abrasive force, and for a second, you considered drawing blood from him. He grunted, and you saw the spark of cold-hearted anger flash through his now dimmed eyes.
You both wanted to love each other just as much as you wanted to hurt each other.
In a more forgiving universe, perhaps, he’d hold your hand tenderly, intertwining his fingers in yours. Maybe you two would be in the kitchen as he showed you one of his favorite bread recipes, and share quiet moments of understanding companionship when remembering those who had left this world too soon.
But this wasn’t that universe, unfortunately.
He was to die, and you were to carry out his execution.
Except you couldn’t, because even if you still tried to cling on to any sliver of morals, even if his life was something yours alone to take, the mere thought of a world without Nanami was far worse than the reality of a world in which he was a murderer.
You insisted on fighting a losing game, and much to no one’s surprise, you lost.
Good riddance to me, I suppose.
His grunts came hitched and stuttered against your mouth as he was now rutting himself into you, biting your lower lip hard enough to almost pierce the skin with his teeth. You moaned loudly, dragged around with pain and pleasure, the combo that seemed to summarize the gist of your relationship.
He let go of your wrist and descended his hand without a warning towards your already overworked clit, glazing his thumb against the ring of arousal you were leaving around him before starting to make circles around your nub. Your moans came out cracked and faltering, as you tried to resist the instinctive urge of fleeing that the overstimulation was eliciting.
“Give me… one more,” Nanami groaned lowly against your cheek, planting multiple kisses down the side of your face and your chin. His hair — which had already fallen from its usual slick arrangement — brushed against your fluttering eyelids, momentarily weaving golden sand colors over your your vision, and you drove both your hands to the back of his head, pulling him in for another kiss.
You could kiss him like this forever.
You actually wanted to, at that moment.
To his request, you nodded, and this was probably the first time you acquiesced to any request Nanami had ever made to you.
Fulfilled, his thrusts and his finger over your clit became increasingly erratic, as he was now moaning your name against your mouth. You pushed your tongue over his, sliding your hands up his head to tug at his roots, and that was all it took to tip him over the edge.
Nanami came with a muffled groan, having your tongue still pushed inside his mouth, and kept pumping himself inside you trying to keep the comedown at bay. His thick, white cum got glazed all over inside you, and the slaps of flesh and skin began sounding ever more wet than they already were.
You weren’t so far off, with your walls fluttering around him, and he noticed it, keeping his now trembling thumb pressed and circling intently over your clit. With one perfectly applied nudge on your sensitive bud, Nanami finally pulled you over the edge along with him.
Some tears began pooling on the edges of your lashes, and all your emotions — anger, sadness, grief, longing, and a particular brand of despair you cultivated during the last decade — came crashing down as he wrenched your second orgasm from you.
Your body convulsed under him, fluttering walls expelling his softening cock out, as you shouted and grunted into his mouth. You didn’t know if you were more furious at yourself for still loving him, at him for loving you, or at Jujutsu Society for jumbling you both like pawns to be tossed around until you two were broken beyond repair.
Angry at them for sending the young out to have their spirits crushed too soon. For all the deaths no one got to mourn because there was too much work, too little time, and the wounded were always left behind to fend for themselves.
Just like you were.
And just like Nanami was.
Tumblr media
You sat at the edge of the bed while putting your shirt back on, and looked back at Nanami, who had his buttoned shirt open over his chest.
“Are you still resolute on your decision of not coming with me?” Nanami asked, with a tinge of eagerness. Or maybe it was just your imagination.
You pondered for a moment, and knew exactly what the answer to that question was.
“Yes. I’m not coming with you.”
For a second, you caught the faintest glimpse of the person he used to be. Something aching to genuine disappointment.
The longing that flashed through him, unfortunately, was quick to go, as he began buttoning his shirt down, averting his gaze elsewhere.
“Why?”
“Because I’d hate myself for the rest of my life if I did,” you stated, sighing before continuing, “and it’s not because I can’t kill you or because I love you that I don’t despise you. You crossed an uncrossable line.”
He pursed his lips, and almost felt regretful for the path he chose.
Almost, since regret now would come ten years too late.
“You can’t go back. They will know you let me go,” Nanami remarked. Be it from him or from looking around this house, Jujutsu High would surely hold you accountable for this — for willingly letting the curse user and murderer, Nanami Kento, escape their wrath.
“I know that,” you replied, a tad bit more defeated than you expected, “that’s why I’m fleeing to Hokkaido.”
He sighed and looked at you. You held his gaze, feeling a little hint of anxiety at what he seemed to be simmering under the surface.
With a warmer expression — or as warm as he could muster it up to be  —, Nanami spoke again.
“I truly want you to come with me. You’d be safer. We’d… be by each other’s side.”
For a moment, you faltered, open lips with no sound coming out of them. Blinking yourself back to Earth, you asked, “you mean together?”
Nanami kept silent, but nodded, waiting for your response.
He wasn’t just asking for you to come with him, but to be with him.
You wanted to. You did. Something Nanami never knew was just how much you wanted to follow him when he asked you the same thing, so many years ago.
But even though you wholeheartedly loved him with every minute part of your being, your loyalty lied elsewhere.
Not with him, but with the people he had killed.
Well, at least that was the comfortable lie you were capable of living with.
It would destroy you to realize the loyalty you had for the murderer of the people you loved.
In the end, even if you weren’t a teenager anymore, you were just as much a hostage to your feelings as you had always been.
The ticking took a long time, but the bomb eventually went off.
With a decade’s old delay.
“I… just can’t. I can’t.”
Nanami reclined himself against the wall over which the bed rested, closing his eyes as he supported the back of his head on it.
He never told you, but this moment broke his heart all over again.
He felt pathetically small.
Guess we get what we deserve, after all.
“You really do have a taste for penitence,” Nanami noted, his voice barely concealing the bitterness that tainted those words.
You scoffed, getting up on your feet, ready to leave as the first rays of sunshine began bleeding through the thick curtains that covered the bedroom’s window.
“Go to hell.”
He chuckled, a sound you hadn’t heard in a very long time. However, it sounded off-key. Wrong.
Sad.
“We’re already here.”
At the end of it all, he wasn’t wrong.
You were doomed to always keep leaving each other.
If only the world had been a little kinder.
But kindness, it seemed, wasn’t in the cards for you.

End notes: I’m silently screaming. Oh my, this one took way longer than expected, but I enjoyed the writing process during every step of the way (I mean, if that wasn’t evident already from the fact that I made a playlist for this 😂). I forgot how much I was a sucker for gut wrenching angst. Hope you enjoyed it too! 🦉

is it wrong?

Tumblr media
Texan Junes were always sweltering—not as bad as August, but bad. Your dad was hosting a barbecue to celebrate your graduation and arrival home. You were thankful for the gesture, appreciative that he thought of you. You knew he must’ve been lonely without you in the house, but at least he had Joel, whom you haven’t thought about for a while. It’s been a while since you’ve seen him; granted, you’ve only been home for two days.
Joel had always been a part of your life. Ever since you moved to Austin, he and your dad have become good friends. It helped that he also had a daughter, who, although being a couple of years younger than you, still got along with you.
Returning home for the summer was bittersweet. All your friends– except Sam– left the state for college, and their parents moved, leaving no reason for them to return to Texas. Sarah still lives across the street, so hopefully you could hang out with her this summer.
You finished getting ready, adding finishing touches to your makeup and making sure your outfit was appropriate for both the weather and the event. Your denim shorts were a bit revealing, but it was like 100° outside, so did it really matter?
You finally decide to leave your room, making your way down the stairs and out to the backyard. A smoky scent hit your nostrils, one that you always loved. The scent never failed to remind you of a particular night you spent over at the Millers, one where Joel barbequed for you and Sarah after you spent the entire day in their pool. Your heart ached at the memory, thinking back to when you were innocent and didn’t have the stress of adulthood looming over you.
You scan the backyard, noticing how everyone was over 40 with beer bellies and button-down t-shirts, suddenly feeling out of place in your tube top and denim shorts. The grad party thrown for you started to look a lot more like a get-together for your dad and his friends. It’s not like any of your friends could’ve gone anyway, but you highly doubt any of these people even cared that you graduated–only Diane.
Diane was Sam's mother. You like her more than Sam, she was warmer, kinder, and just had a way of making everybody feel good. It didn’t take long for her to find you and begin talking.
“Hey, honey! Oh, look how beautiful…” She faux-pouted before pulling you in for a hug, your nostrils immediately filling with the scent of cheap perfume and cigarettes. “I swear you just get more beautiful every time I see you!” She coos, pulling back to cup your face with her slender hands, the rim of the beer she was holding feeling cool against your skin in contrast to the outdoor heat. Her hands lingered there for a bit before reluctantly removing them.
You awkwardly chuckle, not used to being fussed over anymore, “Aw, thank you, Diane.” You give her a sweet smile.
“Sam was just here, swear to God– he probably snuck off for a smoke or somethin’, you know how he is.” She brushed it off with a laugh. “Oh well, ‘m sure he's fine, you know how he is.” Her smile faltered slightly.  “He doesn’t talk to me much lately.” She took a sip of her beer before speaking again.
“Oh! Is Joel comin’?” She asked, raising her eyebrows and attempting a flirty look, a faux-sultry smirk plastered onto her frosty pink lips. It’s a joke, maybe. But when she checks her reflection through the beer can and adjusts her bleached-blonde hair, it doesn’t feel like one.
“Um, yeah…I’m sure he's coming. Why, you got your eyes on him?” You reply with a teasing smile, eyeing the smudged eyeliner along her eyes, as if she tried to reapply it in the heat. Diane’s makeup was always smudged or unblended or something, but before you get the chance to tell her, your eyes are drawn elsewhere. Diane starts talking, but her voice is drowned out by the sound of your heart racing.
Joel Miller was standing by the gate, looking much sexier than you remember. His muscular arms straining the fabric of his denim button-up, the sun hitting his tanned face perfectly, enhancing his ruggedly handsome features.
This was so wrong…he's your dad’s best friend. You had seen him numerous times before, so why was it different now? Your pulse quickened and your breath hitched at the sight, and if possible, you began to feel even hotter. Everything seemed to slow as he began approaching you.
“Joel!” Diane looked at him with a smile, her pale pink lipstick on her teeth. You hope he doesn’t notice, for her sake. He gave her a tight-lipped smile in return before turning his attention to you.
“Hey, kid.” Kid. You hate that he called you that. 22 isn’t a kid. You were old enough to drink, old enough to do pretty much anything. But he called you kid. You just had an inner crisis about how sexy he is, and he makes his thoughts about you clear with one simple word. Kid.
“Hey.” You hated the way his smoky voice caused your stomach to flutter. You hope he can’t read the look on your face. The ‘I’m totally fucked’ face. The way the sun was hitting his face only made your heart beat faster. How could you just now realize how good-looking he is? All those times you’d hung out with his daughter, the times he's been over for dinner, driven you to practices, taught you how to fucking drive, and you just now notice how insanely handsome he is? How?
Diane placed a slender hand on your arm, her long acrylics gently poking your skin. “I’ll be right back, puddin’, I’m gonna go find my boy.” She shifted on her heels, as if waiting to be asked to stay. When no one said anything, she turned and walked off, leaving you and Joel alone. You shifted your gaze back to Joel, sucking in a shaky breath at the proximity. Never did you think you’d feel so…nervous…around him.
“Got any beer? Or’d she bring her own?” Joel asked with his sultry southern drawl that began messing with your head.
“Oh, yeah.” You turned and walked towards the cooler, taking a steady deep breath to calm yourself.
“So…done with school, huh?” He asked, trailing behind you.
“Yep. Finally…” He gave a small smile to your response.
“Don’t like school? Thought you were a good girl.” He grumbled with that velvety southern drawl. You felt a warm flush creep up your neck and settle on your cheeks, your lower abdomen tightening with arousal at his words. Fuck– no. This is wrong. This is Joel.
“T’s just stressful, s’all.” You murmur back, bending down to get two beers, hoping he chalks the flush on your face up to being summer heat. You hand him a beer, his intense, dark eyes staring at your face before dropping down to your lips, then finally, the beer you got for yourself. His eyes remained there for a moment.
“What?” You ask quietly, a confused look plastered onto your face. You felt your mouth start to dry up due to the intensity of his gaze.
“Nothin’...Just weird seein’ you drink.” He grumbles, untwisting the cap of his beer.
“Well, I’m 22, sooo…” You reply, almost like you’re trying to remind him you're an adult. You mirror his action, untwisting the cap of your own beer.
“Yeah, yeah, I know. Y’r a big girl, can drink n whatnot.” He took a sip of his beer. “Where’s your dad? Haven’t seen’m yet.” You felt relieved as he changed the subject to something other than your age.
“Uh, maybe the kitchen? I’ll go check.” You hand him your beer before going in to find your dad.
“Dad, Joel's looking for you.” You say, leaning against the kitchen doorframe. You were finally able to catch your breath with the added space between you and Joel.
“Oh, he’s here? Tell him I’ll be right out. Just gotta finish seasoning these burgers…” His voice trailed off as he continued sprinkling seasoning onto the patties.
“Alright.” You say, turning back outside to find Joel. You see him with Diane, she’s playing with her bleached hair that desperately needs a tone, and batting her fake lashes at him. You love Diane, so why does your stomach churn with uneasiness at the sight of her with Joel?
While you’re walking over to him, you’re stopped by Sam. “Hey, wait.” You turn to meet his gaze, a tinge of disappointment striking your chest.
“Hey, I haven’t seen you yet.” You wrap your arms around him, he stiffens before reluctantly hugging you back.
“Missed you..” He said quietly, making your heart warm. Sam wasn’t one for affection or feelings. He and Diane were so different, you wondered how they were even related.
“Aw, I missed you.” You reply with a smile before pulling back, feeling eyes burning into you. You look around briefly before you see Joel staring right at the two of you. “Uh…how have you been?” You ask, trying to shake the feeling of Joel’s eyes.
“Good, good…I mean…Yeah, good.” He started fidgeting with his lip piercing. He was almost always fidgeting with one of his piercings.
“What about your mom? How’s she?” You ask, genuinely concerned about her well-being. You knew that if you were to ask her directly, she’d mask it with her usual cheery smile.
“Eh, same as always.” He mutters, pausing before speaking again. “I’m gonna get another beer, you want one?”
“Oh, no thanks, uh…Joel actually has mine.” You say quietly, avoiding eye contact with him.
“Oh. Well, okay…” He replied quietly before stealing a glance at Joel. The silence stretched for a moment before Sam headed over to the cooler. You began walking towards Joel, who was still watching you.
“My dad said he’ll be right out.” You said, grabbing your beer back. “Ya know, we could go in n see him.” You added, definitely not because you wanted him away from Diane and alone with you.
“Yeah, that’d be great.” He walked with you towards the house, your shoulder accidentally bumping into his arm as you walked side-by-side.
“So…Diane…” You said, looking up at him with a smug look, secretly hoping she didn’t mean anything to him.
“What’re you implyin’?” He replied lowly, his eyebrows knitting.
“Oh, nothing…” You hoped it was nothing. But why? Sarah told you she worries about how lonely he is. Diane would be good for him, right? But you could be good for him too…What? What's wrong with you? This is your dad’s best friend. Your dad’s best friend, who also happens to be over 30 years older than you.
He’s silent for a beat. “So…Sam…” He said gruffly.
“Sam?” You look up at him, eyebrows knitting.
“Yeah. He your boyfriend? Didn’t think you’d be into that whole...Goth thing.”
“It’s punk, not goth. And he definitely is not my boyfriend. We’re just friends. He’s got this Sid Vicious thing going on, and I really don’t wanna be his Nancy.” You grimaced, thinking about how toxic their relationship was.
When you two entered the kitchen, your dad was nowhere to be found. “I swear, he was in here before.” You murmur, your pulse quickening at the sudden realization that you and Joel were alone together.
“‘S fine, wanted t’get away from’er anyway.” He grumbled.
“What? Diane is awesome.” You suddenly felt guilty for stealing Joel away from her, and even more guilty as he revealed his true feelings about her.
“Not when she's ramblin bout you marryin’er son.” He took a long sip of his beer. “You got a boyfriend at school?” He asked.
Your breath hitched “No-What-Why do you care?” You ask, taking a sip of your own beer to mask the way his question heightened your nerves.
“Don’t. Just…makin'’ conversation, I guess.” He replied, leaning back against the kitchen counter. Your dad came into the room from the bathroom.
“Oh. Hey, you two.” He said, placing his hands on his hips. Joel’s eyes quickly shifted off of you and onto your dad.
“Hope you washed your hands b’fore you start touching our food…” You tease, earning a slight huff of laughter from Joel. You felt a sense of pride wash over you, It’s rare for Joel to laugh.
“Oh- be quiet. Of course I did.” He quipped back, wiping his hands on his pants.
“I’ll leave you two alone.” You turn to head back outside before realizing you hadn’t seen Sarah yet. You turn back towards Joel and decide to ask him. “Wait- Where’s Sarah?” Your stomach fluttered when you met his gaze.
“She’s away for all of June. She’ll be back in a week’r so.” He took a final sip of his beer, his dark chocolate eyes piercing into you.
“Oh…Alright.” Now you leave, hoping your dad didn’t clock the way your face heated under Joel’s gaze. Hoping Joel himself didn’t notice.
Sarah being gone means you’ll likely be seeing much more of Joel. He’ll have more free time, which will lead to him hanging out with your dad more. Your stomach fluttered at the thought, whether it was with arousal or anxiousness was beyond you.

Tumblr media
they were those boys in your campus. every university had them, or so you’re told. the ones to be proud of, but also weary of. the ones who could show you a good time you’d probably regret the next morning. the ones you’d tell stories about and never really forget.
at your school, that was geto suguru and gojo satoru. you heard they knew each other since high school, best friends back then and best friends now. they were part of the most infamous party house, the most awarded college teams, the most scandalous groupchats, the most torrid bathroom stalls conversations. everybody knew them, every guy wanted to be them, every girl wanted to be with them. you know the drill.
and although this was only your second year, you’d had enough run-ins with them to know exactly what they wanted — and what you wanted, too.
the two were truly inseparable despite not being all that similar, just like brothers. considering the stories you’ve heard, that proximity would be almost weird if they weren’t so hot. but that’s a can of worms you don’t want to open and, most importantly, don’t need to open in order to sit on geto suguru’s dick.
because of course it’s geto.
sure, gojo is hot — in a really fucking annoying way. in a way that makes you want to slap that stupid grin off his face every time he ogles you and your friends at a party. you’d go for it, really, if you didn’t have to live to see the next day. you knew gojo would never let you act like it never happened, and not in a romantic way, but in a disgusting braggy way.
gojo satoru is hot as fuck but you’re not built to handle him, if you’re being honest. not innocent enough, not devoted enough, not googly-eyed and pink-glossy-lips-drooly enough. gojo satoru was complicated like that. he came with a warning label as big as a cvs receipt in which big bold red letters warned DO NOT TRUST. and you knew better, anyway.
but geto? geto was pretty much perfect. his looks were sweet, dark and kind of edgy, like a black kitty with really sharp teeth. he had really cute fuck me eyes and really big veiny hands and a really cool manbun and you wanted to sit your ass on his fat sick. it was simple math.
the only thing that preoccupied you, though, was his reputation. and not his manwhore reputation or his party animal reputation or his fucks-hard-and-doesn’t-cuddle-after reputation — no, who cares about that. what worried you was his reputation with his best friend gojo satoru.
ever since you enrolled at your university you’ve been hearing rumors. apparently, the two of them were so close that they shared everything. everything.
would never let a brother go hungry and all.
so yes, there was the slight possibility (only corroborated by, i don’t know, the hundreds of girls you’ve heard the same story from) that geto would want a threeway.
you, having sex with gojo satoru? you can’t say you’ve never thought about it. you did have that one class together, your freshman year. in retrospect, the fact that he was your senior and taking the same elective as you should’ve been enough of a red flag.
by the end of the first lesson he came up to you and told you to text him if you ever needed any materials for the class, almost sounding sincere before shrugging and saying, “i’m just on top of things. by the way, would you like to be one of them?”
and scene.
that was your first impression of gojo satoru.
if you two fucked a year after that initial offer of his, would it be comical or tragic? he’d never look at you the same way — that is, he’d stop looking at you like he can see your tits through your shirt with x-ray vision and start looking at you like he has seen your tits because he will have. and that sounds annoying.
but whatever. you’ve heard the stories of how gojo fucks, after all. it’s not like it would be a bad time.
and tonight seems like the perfect night to make a stupid decision like that because geto looks so fucking delicious in a hawaiian shirt (how is that even possible?) leaning against his yucky frat’s wall and sipping a beer.
god, you want to bite him. is that weird?
“is that weird?” you turn to shoko, who so kindly accompanied you to another house party with the promise of free, gojo-sponsored liquor. “i want to bite geto.”
shoko looks disgusted, all too acquainted with your ramblings about the guy. her eyes scan around the room before settling towards the kitchen. “i’ll leave you to it, then, and go get a drink. do not abandon me until i’m drunk enough to be by myself in this shithole.”
you nod to her before she’s off to get her fix. and you’re gearing up to get yours, adjusting your skirt and correcting your posture until a too familiar, grating voice yells out from behind you:
“yo!”
you sigh, rolling your eyes before turning around.
“gojo.”
he throws one of his long arms over your shoulders, pressing your sides together. your fingers absentmindedly go back to your skirt, pulling it down.
gojo has to lean down to talk to you, his face hovering over yours. you can feel how hot his torso is against you, his white shirt already completely unbuttoned. it sends a shiver down your spine.
“long time no see, cutie,” gojo’s breath is warm against your ear, his voice high to be heard over the music. he gestures with his solo cup, “how are you finding the facility?”
you look up and give him a tight smile. “gross as always! is there something you want, or…”
he laughs heartily, and you feel his whole body rattle against yours. you huff in annoyance, antsy to get a word in with geto before he’s occupied.
“so mean to me!” he looks down at you and if it weren’t for his sunglasses, that he wears indoors at nighttime like a dick, you’d be able to see his eyes looking right down your cleavage. “just when i was coming here to do you a favor.”
you can’t help but laugh at that.
“what in the world could you possibly do for me?” he lifts an eyebrow and your finger flies up in between your faces. “don’t answer that, actually.”
“i came here to tell you a very interesting secret,” he sing songs right into the shell of your ear, earning another shiver from you. you take the cup from his hand and sip, too distracted to know what it tastes like. nibbling on the plastic rim, you gesture for him to go on.
gojo’s smile grows that much darker, that much more sinister, a dimple appearing on the side of his cheek.
“a little birdie told me suguru’s dying to screw you tonight.”
your demeanor must visibly brighten at that information because gojo lets out another lurching laugh. your eyes instinctively zero in on geto, across from you, who’s either doing a really good job of pretending he doesn’t hear the two you talking in the doorway or is genuinely clueless as to what his best friend is saying about him.
you force yourself to regain your composure, shoving gojo’s solo cup into his bare chest and wiggling out of his hold. “and you care because?”
but you suspect you already know the answer to that. he puts his hands up in mock surrender, and god, your height difference is kind of reeling.
“like i said, ‘s just a favor,” you eye him suspiciously. he continues, “he wants to fuck you, you want to fuck him. i’m just being a nice guy.”
right. nice guy.
“and who says i want to fuck him?” you try to play it cool, even though you probably know as much as satoru knows as much as suguru knows that you’d crawl on your knees towards geto right now if that meant you could put his cock in your mouth.
and who could blame you?
“playing dumb?” gojo pokes your cheek. his voice grows thicker, “cute. look at you,” and he does, hungrily, eyes scanning your entire form and making you feel oddly self conscious.
he snakes a hand around your waist and leans in close again, whispering into your ear, “all dolled up just for him. in class with me you show up in other dudes’ hoodies but for darling suguru you dress slutty. everyone knows.”
you inhale sharply. what is he playing at? is he trying to get into your head or what? people dress up at parties, people want to fuck people, it’s a thing. god, gojo is so unbearable.
you scowl up at him.
“first of all,” you rip his hand from your waist and he lets it fall limply by his side. “second of all, again, how is that any of your business? salty you can’t get laid without the hotter best friend’s help?”
gojo just smirks, huffing out a chuckle through his nostrils. “you don’t have to worry about me, sweetheart. although i have to say, i do worry about you…”
“what? why?” you can’t help sounding sincere at his words. he twirls a piece of your hair with his index finger.
“‘m just saying, what kind of best friend would i be if i handed you off to suguru without taking you for a test drive first?” gojo’s disgusting, he’s audacious and cocky and it’s doing something to you. you find yourself uncharacteristically quiet as he continues, “i mean, for all i know, you just might break once he gets inside.”
“you’re ridiculous,” you manage to utter, feeling too small and too warm. geto is no longer in your line of sight and neither is shoko and you rapidly start to feel like you’ve fallen into the lion’s den without realizing.
“you know i’m right,” and you don’t, really, you don’t think he’s right at all but why do you want to prove him wrong so badly? “c’mon, baby, lemme break ya in a little.”
that seems to snap you out of it. “ew. you’re disgusting, where is—“
“ugh, i love it when you degrade me,” he groans sardonically, hand leaving your waist and grabbing your hand instead. “come on. i’ll take you to him.”
whatever that feeling was just then, you shake it off and relunctantly let gojo guide you through the sea of bodies in his living room, the two of you earning some whistles from his friends. eyes too busy scanning for geto, you’re surprised when you suddenly end up in front of the bathroom.
“quick pit stop!” gojo tries. you roll your eyes.
“you won’t even try to take me to your bed? like, you live here,” you say.
gojo is grinning. “nah, nah. room’s for the main attraction,” he winks and turns the doorknob, letting you go inside first. what a gentleman. “this shouldn’t take long.”
the bathroom door muffles the loud music outside, leaving your ears ringing in the silence. gojo looks like a douchebag, sunglasses pushed up into his hair, shirt unbuttoned and wet with some sort of liquor, and your eyes do not dare scan any lower than that.
you suppose he is a douchebag.
but he sounds so painfully sincere when he whines low in his throat, “wanna kiss you so bad.”
you laugh at his face, pushing yourself up to sit on the counter.
“i’m serious,” he says, taking a step forward. you instinctively open your legs a little to make more room.
“you want to what, ‘break me in’, you said?”
gojo laughs and that doesn’t sound sincere at all. he takes another step towards you, slotting his hips in between your thighs.
“suguru’ll like it sloppy,” and that’s all the explanation he gives you before he’s closing the distance between you two, crashing your lips together.
you should be feeling ill at his words. you should be pushing him away. if you had any self respect, you would.
but his hands on you feel so good, he’s kissing you like, yeah, he wanted to so bad. his grip on your hips is almost bruising, pulling your body closer to his so he can grind against you.
you moan into his mouth and he’s quick to return it, tongue pushing up against yours hungrily. you feel like you’re being devoured, the kiss all encompassing, but it’s not bad, it feels so so good and gojo is so good and—
he breaks your kiss to command, “wrap your legs around me,” and you do so immediately.
his hands push your skirt up, grabbing your ass and pulling you that much closer to him. you tug on his hair, grinding down hard against him, and he lets out the sweetest, most pitiful moan that sends your head reeling.
“gojo…” you say his name but you don’t know what for, don’t know what you want or what to ask or what to say, all you know is yes and good and more. “satoru—“
gojo whines and presses his lips to yours desperately, grinding his hard on against your clothed pussy. he’s big, you can feel him all over your cunt, and you suddenly need all these layers between you gone.
“fuck, let me see,” he swallows hard, pushing your shirt up fully. “lemme see those tits baby, that’s it—”
you puff your chest out when gojo pulls your bra down. you expect him to go for your boobs but instead he goes back in for a kiss, panting into your mouth.
god, it’s too much. for how collected he acts one hundred percent of the time, seeing gojo satoru disheveled is a power trip.
“touch me,” you mumble against his lips.
he gives you a few pecks, nibbling your bottom lip before pulling away.
“fuck, you’re so fucking perfect,” gojo says, one hand grabbing your tit and another pulling your panties to the side. the cool air on your dripping core makes you shudder, and you feel yourself gush at the slightest brush of his fingers against you.
he bends down to pop a nipple into his mouth and you arch your back, gripping his hair hard, ‘cause apparently he likes that. you both let out a unison moan as he sucks, saliva audibly swishing inside his mouth.
you know it’s gonna leave a mark, he’s gonna leave a lot of bruises as he bites and sucks and keeps you distracted while he slips a finger into your wet core.
you suddenly regain conscience and remember the man working your body with nothing more than his hands and mouth probably has a pretty painful big hard cock inside his pants, so you reach out to help him.
“wait,” he says, mouth popping against your breast, “wait, you can suck it, i just wanna—i gotta do this first, lemme—“
that’s all he says before giving you another kiss and dropping to his knees.
you’re obviously not going to complain, you can neglect his dick just fine, nevermind the fact that you want it inside you immediately. but in the meantime, gojo’s got two fingers pumping in and out of you and he’s about to put his face between your legs.
it’s beautiful, it’s a lot, you want it so fucking bad and it shows.
“so fucking wet, all f’me” he lays his tongue flat against your clit and licks a fat stripe up your pussy, making you groan in anticipation for what’s to come. “been thinking of this pretty pussy for so long.”
“yeah?,” you whine, brushing some hair away from his face before coaxing his head closer to where you want it. gojo moans in response and starts working his tongue in tight circles over your clit.
fuck, is gojo satoru in a frat bathroom the best head you’ve ever had? he might be, with the way he expertly rubs his fingers against your walls, instantly finding that spongy patch that makes you jut your hips out.
“fuck, right there,” you grind against his face, delighting yourself in the debauched moans he makes against your cunt. not only does it feel good, it looks so fucking hot and you can’t tear your eyes away. “stay right there, you’re so good.”
the way he eats it like he needs to, like it’ll save your life, like this alone is enough to make the both of you cum, you can’t help the too-honest praise tumbling from your lips.
“yeah? tastes so fucking good” he mumbles, rubbing a thumb over your clit. you nod, bottom lip held tightly between your teeth. “play with your tits, baby, those juicy fucking tits, do it for me.”
you obey, head hanging back in pleasure. you keep one hand anchored firmly in his hair, your fingers gripping so hard they start to tingle.
you shove his face closer, earning a deep groan from him. he noses at your pussy, replacing his fingers in your entrance with his tongue, fucking in and out of you. your breathing has lost all rhythm, your chest feels tight and on fire and a bead of sweat rolls down your back.
you can faintly make out gojo asking do you like this? just like this baby? and all you can say in response is a string of “yeahs” and breathy little moans. they almost sound surprised, and they might be, because every twist of his tongue and every brush of his fingers knocks the breath right out your lungs.
it’s so much pleasure that it doesn’t make sense. you think, suddenly, this is why people do drugs, this is why people develop addictions because you have no fucking clue how you’re supposed to live without gojo satoru between your legs from now on.
“satoru. i wanna cum,” you whine, mind to mouth filter completely obliterated because all you want to do is fucking cum for gojo satoru. message relayed.
“fuck yeah, baby, you wanna cum? i’m gonna make you cum?” he’d sound pathetic if you didn’t know how much of a whore he was. his fingers go back inside you and speed up ever so slightly, his lips wrapping around your clit. gojo’s tongue works you over and over and over and all you can hear is the blood rushing in your ears and the sound of gojo swallowing every few seconds.
he doesn’t stop, mumbles his dirty talk right into your pussy, like fucking cum for me baby cum all over my face yeah do it i’m gonna make you cum so hard god you look so fucking sexy wanna fuck you so bad, and you don’t want to know why but it makes you all the more intent in coming the hardest you ever have.
you grip gojo’s hair and grind into his face mercilessly, revelling in the gurgling sounds coming from between your legs.
“ohhh fuck, fuck, satoru i’m so close, just keep doing that, yeah just like that—“ gojo groans, using his free hand to play with your nipple.
it’s too much, it’s too good, the coil in your belly that’s been building up since you started entertaining the idea of maybe getting laid tonight finally snapping.
you’re sure you’ve never been this loud as you cum, hard, you can feel it gushing out of you and right into gojo’s awaiting mouth. with ringing ears and trembling legs, you find purchase in his hair as you keep cumming for him.
the muscles on your thighs seize up as you ride out your orgasm against gojo’s face, your feet trying to find any sort of balance or solid ground. but you wiggle desperately in his hold, the man below you fulfilling his promise of drinking every last drop of you until the two of you are satisfied.
you’re catching your breath when gojo finally pulls away from you, his face and neck flushed as you’re sure yours are. your back falls against the foggy bathroom mirror, chest rising and falling dramatically as you catch your breath.
he finally stands up, sneaking a very obvious hand down his pants to readjust his erection. once he catches your gaze, he smirks at you.
you try to roll your eyes, you really do, but what comes out is a slow, languid blink. you’re completely fucked out and he loves it, leans in to kiss you so fucking deep you taste yourself all over his mouth.
before you can do anything else, anything more or less than kiss him back, you hear three knocks on the door.
they’re gentle, nothing like the sound of a pissed off college student, murderous because you’re hogging the bathroom.
gojo pushes himself away from you, grinning. “right on time.”
he grabs both your tits in his hands and plants a wet kiss on one, then the other, before pulling your shirt back down.
you’re still dumbfounded, your overworked body slumped against the bathroom counter.
before you have time to react, gojo’s opening the door to let geto suguru in.
your body jolts, legs closing shut in what’s almost abject horror. you nearly forgot he’s what you came to this party for.
it feels like you got caught red handed, and it must show on your face because geto shakes his head and laughs that pretty, sexy laugh, waving a hand around to tell you it’s okay.
“please, don’t stop on my account,” are his first words to you tonight.
you would say something if you weren’t sure your voice would fail you. but like usual, gojo satoru can’t stay quiet for too long.
“all done. she’s too easy” he announces cheerily, but the funny thing is, he doesn’t leave. instead, geto lets the bathroom door close behind him as he crowds in.
you realize this space is far too small for two very tall men, most definitely far too small for whatever is about to go down between the three of you, and your calming heart starts to race again.
“hey, pretty,” geto reaches out and wipes the side of your lip. “having fun?”
you can only nod, looking at gojo satoru of all people for answers.
he looks at you like he hasn’t just eaten your pussy with the intensity of a starving man, like he wants to do it again, right now.
geto is sporting a similar look of hunger, looking between you and gojo and quickly assessing the situation that just happened here.
this is weird. this is so fucking weird and so stupidly hot.
“wanna take her for a ride next?” gojo asks geto like he’s not talking about a person, like you don’t have a say in it, like you belong to the both of them to play with, and it turns your brain to mush.
geto smiles, handsome and dangerous.
“what do you say, honey?” this time he addresses you. you swallow hard, looking between the two men in front of you. gojo grabs the outline of his hard cock through his pants, a reminder that whatever this is, it isn’t over just yet. “down to have double the fun?”

It was your birthday today. Through the entire week you've been handing out party invitations to your classmates. If someone was out sick one day you'd give them the invite the next. You would stop at nothing to make sure you got the biggest birthday celebration!
So... How come Gran's house was completely empty? Gran had soothed your nerves when nobody showed up at first.
"The clock just hit noon, dear. I'm sure your friends are already on their way. Sometimes people run a bit late." Her words were enough to keep you calm for a little while. But the clock kept ticking. First it was ten minutes. Then thirty minutes.
The first hour moved by painfully slowly. You sat and sat in front of the clock. It was okay to be a few minutes late to a party. Maybe even half an hour. Or there was the possibility of someone misreading their card and thinking they had to show up a different time.
But no sign of anyone after the first hour? How could that be possible? You were positive everybody in your class had received one. So why...
"Hmph!" Abruptly standing up from the floor, you stomp your foot. Your tiny hand grabs the colorful party hat on your head. The flimsy paperboard creases when you slam it against the ground.
Angry tears were beginning to well up in your eyes. You were super angry, of course. How dare your entire class abandon you like this? You drew each and every card by hand! One of your favorite crayons broke in the process.
But it wasn't just an angry feeling clawing at your chest. You've never been left in the dust like this before. Why had the world suddenly forgotten that you existed? It was your special day! Everyone should be thinking about you. There should have been a line outside of your door with people begging to be let inside.
It was all too much. You rush out of the kitchen. Tiny legs carrying you past party streamers, a banner hung in the entryway of the kitchen, and floating balloons. Gran and Caleb had also worked hard to give your guests a fun party. Now, nobody was there to appreciate it.
Caleb watches helplessly as his pipsqueak finally snaps. The longer that passed without a knock on the front door Caleb knew it was only a matter of time before you got fed up and stormed off.
His heart hurts in tune with you. Nonstop this week you had been gushing about how grand your birthday party would be. You truly believed none of your classmates would miss the opportunity to come celebrate.
Underneath the table, out of Gran's sight, Caleb's small fist clenches underneath the table. Not a single person bothered to show up? They couldn't even stop by to say hello? You clearly put your heart and soul into your party today.
It doesn't take long for Caleb to follow you. You're tucked away in the corner of your bedroom. He finds you with a party invitation clutched to your chest.
"Gege..." You whimper into your knees as Caleb approaches. Too miserable to move as Caleb sits down on the floor, you continue to cry.
"Does everyone hate me? I thought they were all my friends. Nobody cares about me!"
Caleb tugs your crying body into his chest as he's done a thousand times before. And though Caleb wishes he could keep a smile on your face forever, this definitely won't be the last time he holds your crying body. That was okay. His shoulder was always available.
"Hey," Caleb whispers close to your ear. He starts to rub your back while you soak his shirt with your fat tears.
"What does it matter? If they weren't as happy coming to your party as you were inviting them— then they didn't deserve to hang out at our house anyways. They're the ones who get to miss out on all the fun."
It was still early in the evening. It'll be a few hours before it's your bedtime. Caleb still has some time to make it up to you.
"They don't understand that the day you were born... Is the most important day in the world. But I understand, pipsqueak. So you just forget about all those jerks. I can make your birthday party way cooler than they could!"

“There’s no possible cancellation, miss. You need to come to the honeymoon vacation or it’ll expire.”
Yes, the word honeymoon. Woman without a man. The man who stood her up week before their wedding. It was all perfect, everything about their love. And yet, here she stood, single, heartbroken and humiliated in front of the suite for newlyweds that carried their names Mr. and Mrs. Russell. Out of all the girls from the grid family, Kelly was the one to be there for her. She packed her up and got her on this vacation, because she already payed a lot for this to be a surprise for George. One that he’d never forget, one with which she’d shown him how she loved him.
For two days straight she only slept. Kelly fed her a little with some fruits and yogurt from breakfast. It was painful to watch her close friend to suffer like this. She looked pale, her face puffy from all the crying, and her gaze was dull.
As the night fell on the resort in Mexico, Kelly picked up her phone, Max was FaceTiming her.
“Hey, babe. How is it going?” He asked with frown.
“Hey, love… please, promise me, that if you ever want to break up with me, don’t you dare to propose to me before that.” Kelly said in sadness.
“How is she?”
“It’s bad. She’s sleeping for second day already. You should see her face when she saw the name tags on the door… it was like a punch in the gut.”
“I’m really glad, that you’re there with her, Kells. She deserves the best. I must’ve restrain myself very hard to not punch George when I saw him at the paddock today.”
“Wait, what? He’s back at racing? I thought that he was supposed to get a break from all that stuff, like he said to her.”
“Don’t say it to her, but… There’s this woman with him here, like a shiny bracelet on him. Lando nearly threw up from the sight of them and everybody here is giving him a silent treatment.”
“Holy shit… this is a nightmare.”
“Yeah… keep her away from socials, she doesn’t need more heartbreak than she already received.”
“No probs, babe. I’ll keep her occupied and her phone is with me anyway and it’s turned off.”
“Okay, I’ll keep you posted. Take care, love you.”
———
Fourth day into vacation she got up from bed, surprising Kelly at the terrace for breakfast.
“Hi, K.” She said, her voice raspy from all the sleep.
“Ah, the sleeping beauty. How are you today, darling?” Kelly hugged her instantly.
“It’s strange, but good. I think the most of the hurt is gone. I know it’s not that simple, but today is good and I’m gonna enjoy it.” She softly smiled but her eyes spoke another story. Kelly gave her a sympathetic look as they talked through the breakfast.
“Max is wishing you well. He’s so worried about you.” Kelly said sipping on her coffee.
“Aw, thanks. He’s a good man, Kelly.” She smiled kindly with little sigh.
“Hey, don’t let your mood flatten, we’re here to have a good time, you’ve worked hard for this. So, we’re gonna make the most of it.” Kelly said with amused smile.
And they did. Girls nights, partying a little, spending afternoons at the pool and beach, some trips around the resort too. Two weeks went by like a click, when they stood at the airport waiting for Max’s private jet.
It was also first time after that weeks of freedom when Kelly gave her her phone back.
“It’s time to go back to reality and I know it’s gonna be hard, but we’re gonna do this. Don’t get those things get to your head. You’re you and you’re the most amazing human in this world.” Kelly reassured her.
She turned on the phone with her stomach churning. Millions of notifications of messages, emails and tags. In the tons of photos at the socials she noticed that one photo, that George posted. She felt like she’s gonna throw up. All the sickness was back, the pain in her chest too.
“Mi amore. Love you to the moon and back.”
George and his new girlfriend. She was so pretty, like a doll. And god, how he was glowing.
As they boarded the plane, Kelly noticed the turn in the her mood as she slipped her phone to her bag.
“I guess you found out, don’t you?” Kelly asked with frown.
“Y-yeah. I don’t know what to say, it’s driving me insane. And he’s back at racing, he just… he’s a fucking liar.” She was at the rage stage.
“It’s gonna be okay. We‘ll manage.”
———
And it was true. Kelly managed to get a people to pack her things out of their shared apartment with George, the first day they went on that vacation. She didn’t want to stay in Monaco, she wanted to go back home to London, where her flat was for rent. She was lucky that it was free in the moment.
Getting from the Heathrow airport was like a blur, feeling all the nostalgia from the surroundings and memories of her past life were everywhere. But it didn’t hurt as much as when she finally unlocked the door to her apartment, getting in the known scent and looking over the boxes there and there. All her life packed like it meant nothing. She was in no mood to start unpacking, because she was afraid to untangle the suppressed emotions. It was a job for her in the next months.
———
It was like six months after the called off wedding. She shut down her socials, getting herself a fresh start with private profiles with a few people following on them. Her main public profile was still up, she didn’t post any new photos, the last post there was a photo of her tasting the sweet cake for wedding with caption wedding vibes #therussells.
She turned her attention to the direction of self love, reconnecting with her old friends in London and little bit of vacations and mainly work. Her going to the Monaco was absolute no go, so when someone from her grid friends wanted to see her, they needed to visit. But they were more than glad. Nobody talked about George, it was her strict rule number one. She practically erased him from her life and mind.
Life just has a strange ways to make things a little crazy.
Sunny morning in London, she went to the café for her morning coffee. She liked to try new places. As she was on the phone working already, she ordered a waited for the cup of hot love.
George sat in the corner of this café, looking through the newspaper like a classic English gentleman. His life turned upside down for the last six months. He was now reminiscing all the things he had done and how he hurt people around him. Brushing another feeling of shame off of him, he looked up from newspaper and his eyes found her standing at the order counter. It was like some nasty dream, ripping his heart apart for another time. She stood there, talking over phone, smiling with her classy appearance. Thinking about the way he wanted to approach her, he tried not to look suspicious. He was the one, who made her life hell, betrayed her the worst.
She slid her phone to her purse, got her coffee and turned around to get out of the café, when she spotted George already staring at her. She was so taken aback by seeing him, that she bumped into the glass door. Hard. Feeling her head spinning and the blood running from her nose, coffee was everywhere on her skirt. People around her was at her immediately, helping her, but she was in some kind of trance.
“Excuse me, please. I need to get to her. Hey, are you okay?” George got through the crowd to her, his protective persona on, getting his white napkin to wipe her bloody nose.
“I-I’m not…” she said still in shock.
“I’m going to take you to the hospital, you may have broken nose.” George frowned in guilt because his presence caused this.
She only nodded, there was no place for denying it. George gave her reassuring squeeze to her shoulder and guided her to his car, which was parked outside on the street. Feeling his hand on her back and on her arm felt strange.
Ride to the hospital was quiet. She held the napkin at her nose, blood was slowly stopping pouring, and she was staring in front of herself, still processing what just happened. She felt her anger rising in her, how dare he shows in her life now, when she’s been on the good way of healing her wounds.
“Why are you here?” She mumbled slightly wincing in pain.
“There’s race in Silverstone this weekend.” He said taking the last turn to parking lot at the hospital. As he stopped the car, she put all her strength to get out from the car without his help.
“You can go, I’m gonna take care of myself.” She took quick steps towards the hospital.
“Wait! I’m not gonna let you handle this alone. I caused this, so let me take care of it.” He ran after her, softly grabbing her arm.
“At least please just don’t touch me, George.” She got out of his grasp still walking.
They were waiting for doctor to see her, while George wrote down the application for her. He stopped at the column about family status. Flagging it as married, he hoped that he would get access to information about her condition. She just signed it off not caring about anything. Her phone rang, it was Kelly. Oh god, they were supposed to meet today.
“Hi, Kells. I really can’t talk right now.” She tried to talk coherently but her lips started to get swollen from the crashing to the door.
“You sound weird, are you okay?” Kelly asked in concern.
“Yeah, I just bumped into the door at the café, hard, that I might have broken nose. I’m currently at the hospital.” She sniffled a little blood.
“What?! I’m getting there, we’re already in London!”
“No, no! Actually I’m not here alone.” She looked up at George.
“You’re full of surprises, girl. Is that the new man, you’re seeing?”
“No, it’s not him. It’s George.”
George was listening to her conversation and pinpointed the word him. Is she seeing someone new? Is she in love with him?
“Holy shit, what the fuck?!”
“Calm down, K. I can’t talk right now, all you need to know, that I’m okay. I’m gonna text you, bye.”
She sighed putting her phone to her purse.
The awkward silence between them lasted for a while.
“Is there- are you-“ he started to ask but it came out as a blurt.
“I’m not seeing anyone, if that’s what you want to ask. I’m just tired of questions if I’m still single, so I said to my friends that I’m working on my dating life. So no. I can’t love anyone after what you’ve done to me and you have this sick luck of hurting me still.” She said with sad sigh.
“I’m sorry.” He said plainly.
That was words she wanted to hear from him all this time. She met his gaze full of guilt.
“I’m so so sorry. I was just stupid and foolish, I really didn’t care about things I had around me, in my life. I was so ungrateful. And I hurt the most precious thing in my life. You. No words can mend the wounds I caused. I just want to make it up to you, so bad.” His eyes was glistening with tears as he talked sincerely.
She processed all the words he just said. Her heart broke again, but now for him. For the way how he talked, how he was honest. After that months of silence between them and his lies from the last conversation they had together.
“I forgave you. A while ago. I just didn’t understand those lies you told me. About you taking a break from everything we shared together, that it drowned you. And then I saw that post on the socials, you back at track with her.”
George felt pang in his chest, he was deeply ashamed of his actions. Before he could say anything else, nurse peeked from the doctors office calling her inside. She stood up and George assisted her.
“You’re her husband right? You can come inside too.” Nurse politely smiled.
She wanted to protest but George interrupted her. “Yeah, I am. Thank you.”
After getting some scans and check up, doctor said, that she doesn’t have broken nose, just little bruised and that in few days the swelling would be gone same as bleeding.
George took her to her apartment, helping her with everything she needed. Sitting on the couch with cup of coffee in her hands, he was in process of putting the cream on the bruise on her nose. She sat still her eyes closed. He took in her features, how she was still herself. The same woman he loved, and still loves.
“You’re supposed to be with her, not with your ex fiancée.” She said while opening her eyes to look at him.
“I’m not with her for some time now. As much as it was mesmerising, it wasn’t it. I had time to think about my mistakes. I was the number one asshole.”
“You were, that’s for sure. I was so mad at you, angry and pissed off. You just threw our lives we built together out of the window. We could’ve talk about that, I would understand anything. But not that huge heartbreak you put me through. I had a surprise honeymoon booked for you. And I went on it with Kelly, because it cost really so much money…” her eyes were filled with tears as she relived the memories of pain.
George looked down in shame, he was pained by his actions towards her. She truly loved him, deeply, she was always so caring and he was… him.
“I’m sorry. I should’ve talk to you more, not just tear you from me and destroy our life.”
Their conversation was interrupted by doorbell.
“That’s most likely Kelly and Max.” Grace said. George retreated from her as she stood up to get to the door. As she opened, Kelly hugged her immediately and Max looked through the space for George with mad look.
“How are you, love?” Kelly looked at her nose with frown.
“I’m good, Kells, really. George took care of me.” She softly smiled.
“Really? No doubt that he did.” Max looked with narrowed look at George, who stood in the doorframe to living room.
“I’m on my way out, I see that she’s in good hands.” George said plainly.
“In the best hands.” Kelly said with not amused look.
She sighed tired from all the tension.
“Take care.” George kissed her forehead lightly as he brushed off around them.
All three of them were looking at his figure until he disappeared in the elevator.
“How- what the actual fuck?” Kelly asked looking at her flushed face.
“Kells, please.” Max groaned at the word fuck.
She took them inside as she prepared some coffee for them.
“How was your flight?” She asked casually.
The duo looked at her in disbelief. “You just had your ex in your home and you’re asking us about flight?”
“Yeah and yeah?”
“Tell us everything!”
She sat in front of them in the armchair. “I was at the café this morning, you know, I like to try new places and he just happened to be there. I spotted him and I was so in shock, that I crashed to the glass door. He got me to the hospital, took care of everything. And he apologised for everything he put me through. He said that he was number one asshole.”
Max snorted as Kelly looked over him with stern look.
“And then you came and that’s it.”
“He kissed you. You’re okay with that?” Kelly asked sipping on her coffee.
“Why not?”
“Because he practically left you at the altar?”
“Oh that. I nearly forgot about that.” She gave her an sarcastic smile.
“You’re falling for his lies again.”
“No, I’m not. We just talked, he was nice. I deserved to know, what was on his mind and behind his actions. I can move on now.”
“Can you?”
The question was hanging in the space. She was sure, to this day, that she wouldn’t even lay her eyes on him. But it was all nice and she felt loved again. All the wrong things.
“Can you?” Kelly asked again.
“Fine! I don’t know!” She rolled her eyes.
“You’re unbelievable. He broke your heart, you were a mess. And now he’s messing with you again.”
“I know, I know all that. And I’m grateful for the care you have for me. But… it’s complicated.”
“It’s not. You love him.” Max interrupted them. Kelly gave him another look of disbelief.
“I’m not sure, I don’t know. I’m not ready for anything but it feels so close to home.”
“Jeez… just be careful. Anyway, it’s perfect timing really, because we wanted to get you to spent a weekend at Silverstone with us.” Kelly said with sour face, now her idea sounding not so perfect.
“I need to think about it. And I don’t know how this thing will turn out to appear.” She pointed to her bruised nose.
“You know the power of makeup, dear.” Kelly rolled her eyes.
“As much as I like you here with me I need some space right now.” She said with sigh.
“Just think about it and give me a call and we’ll manage it. You could use some fun around old friends.” Kelly said while she hugged her.
Max gave her reassuring smile as they walked into the elevator.
———
She took a shower as she thought about George. How his fingertips felt against her skin, his scent calming her down, how he looked at her with care and love, he was completely different. He looked like he was ready to die for her.
Then there was the other side. How she felt humiliated when he left her at the restaurant in Monaco with smile, ready for his new life.
How the ring on her left hand was somehow heavy.
Thoughts there and there, she needed to be honest with herself.
She loved him. Still. And truly. Even after all of this.
As she laid in bed scrolling through her phone, she got a call from unknown number.
“I have a package for you, is this Ms. L/N ?”
“Yes, that’s me.”
She went down to receive the mystery package. Back at the apartment, she opened it. There was VIP and paddock pass with her name, also she spotted a sticky note with handwriting.
“Just in case you want to have fun on the weekend. GR”
Her heart skipped a beat as she read those words. Snapping a photo of it she sent it to Kelly with comment I think the plans are clear for the weekend. Kelly answered with crazy emojis and comment I can’t wait.
She decided not to tell George that she’s actually coming, because he deserved a little silent treatment. He’s gonna need to win her heart back.
As the Saturday approached, she was already on her way to the paddock gates. The first she spotted her was Lando.
“Oh my god! Am I dreaming?” He nearly shouted as he hugged her tight.
She giggled happily. “No, this is real.”
Greeting with others went well as she arrived at the Mercedes hospitality, her stomach churning and turning in nervous way, reliving all the memories she had there. She got to chat with some people, which were surprised that she’s there. Nobody had the courage to ask her, why she’s there and she was glad.
Grabbing some coffee she stood outside on the little terrace looking at the Silverstone track. It was like coming back to home.
“You came.” The voice said behind her causing her to turn around. There stood George, wearing his Mercedes shirt and white pants along with kind smile.
“I thought that you not being sure if I’d come, would be a good treatment for you.” She sipped her coffee with a little smile.
“I absolutely deserve that.” He said coming to her side.
“I’m sorry about yesterday. Kelly and Max were there for me for all that shit you put me through. They’re worried.”
“I understand that. They’re really good friends. I’m grateful that they helped you through tough times.”
“I thought I’d never see this again.” She looked over the track.
“I thought I’d never see you here again.”
“I don’t want to poke in that hurtful things from past anymore. If anything, I want things from fresh start.”
“Again, I’m sorry. And I understand.”
“You know, it’s not like winning race to win my heart.”
“I’d likely do both.”
“We’ll see.”
She chuckled as she was enjoying messing with him.
“Good luck.” She smiled softly giving his arm a little squeeze as she walked out to find Kelly.
———
George got the pole position and she couldn’t be more proud. She fought that huge smile on her face as she noticed, how Kelly was watching her. Max took a second place.
She leaned against the frame of the entrance to the Mercedes garage, where George celebrated with everybody around him. Then he noticed her standing there and smiling proudly. Immediately he walked towards her getting her into his tight embrace while she giggled.
“You’re incredible, George.” She said laughing.
“You’re my lucky charm.” He said as he placed kiss to her hair. His embrace was warm and soft. All she missed that long.
“Please, just don’t let me go.” She whispered to his chest.
“I’m not gonna make that mistake ever again.”

now everybody knows
Tumblr media
background: y/n goes to a frat party and defies every warning her friends give her about the newest LSU quarterback joe burrow.
(all pics from pinterest, all rights reserved.)
notes: welp.. long and awaited part 2, (i promise ill get to its over im sorry soon, i just have to start plotting) also i hate writing scenes of people confessing their feelings so take it or leave it.
word count: 497
warning: 18+ obviously, read part 1 to get it.
<- part 1 -> part 2
Tumblr media
It had been 11 months when you both first hooked up.
Somehow, you'd both kept it on the low. Joe broke up with his girlfriend a few months ago and ever since then the routine was the same, after a game or practice, he'd want you. If he was away he'd let you know on the way back to campus.
But along time, you both realized the feelings were very mutual. You both started caring for eachother, and with you being a basketball player and him being a football player, it was extremely difficult to hide your relationship. No posts, locations had to be off when you were both around eachother. Easy, or so you thought.
After Joe's eligibility at LSU ran out, he moved back home. Long distance was never easy, going from someone who was down the street to someone across the country destroys a person, especially when you both never came clean to eachother about the thoughts you had about eachother.
So when March Madness started and LSU being a strong contender, he knew he had to watch you. He knew he had to support you and while he was expected to wear orange and black, you'd still be wearing purple and yellow (with a mix of gold) for a bit. The first rounds were easy, blowing out teams that barely made the cut by 50+ points.
And soon you were called a MVP, awarded titles for Player of the Year and even became a overall pick of the WNBA, but with all of that the quarterback still watched on the sidelines. When someone asked him in public about a girlfriend, he'd always shake if off, shut down the topic or just ignore it entirely.
But in the championship, and your birthday being the next day, one of your teammates decide to post a picture without blurring or cropping out Joe's face midday.
Tumblr media
And as you texted the last message, Joe called. Knowing he fount out about the photo leak, you pick up the phone.
"Why the hell is there pictures of us on the internet. I thought we were on the low." Joe says, his voice sharp
"I thought too."
"Your teammate shouldve never posted that photo, I never got to admit my feelings for you or requested for us to be posted together." He replies
"We adknowledged this as a hookup onl-"
"Well you thought wrong y/n, I really love you. Im not trying to play you but just give me one chance. Ill be the last, i promise." His voice seems weak, the weak spot opening up to something youve never seen.
"I love you, I never lie but I believe I caught feelings before you did.." You say with a slight smile on your face.
The two of you both stayed on the phone for a bit before hanging up, knowing it all subsided and he gave you the reassurance of a comfortable soft launch, you decide to go for it.

NIGHTS LIKE THIS.
genre / content best friend ! taesan x female reader, fluff, skinship warnings mentions of alcohol, cursing sypnosis after a long night, her best friend takes care of her and unbeknownst to him, awakes feelings wc 4.7k
Tumblr media
The smell of cigarettes and vomit envelopes me as I step into what is probably one of the largest houses I've ever seen, much less been in.
Music is blaring through the speakers, so loud that I can barely hear anything else, but at least it's some decent songs they're playing. That seems to be the upside. I'm not sure I could survive tonight if I hated the music.
Though I was forced to come by my friend who thought it would be a great idea to get drunk together to try and get me to 'loosen up', I'm trying to find it in me to try and enjoy myself, so this is the opportunity to do so, even if I'm also forcing myself through it.
However, entering a party alone and without anyone by my side might have not been the best idea—I realize that quickly when I see two guys approaching me, clearly swaying in their step. Their smiles are friendly, but I'd rather not have an encounter with evidently intoxicated guys this early into my night.
I speed up my pace and walk in a half circle around them, even if their faces up closer seemed oddly familiar.
"Hey! Oh, where are you—"
"Hi! Hey, what—"
Their voices fade into the background as I approach a long, spacious hallway. I keep walking, red cups being dropped on the ground surrounding me and their sticky liquids soaking the carpet. Did the person living here not think to remove it if they were gonna throw a party?
Maybe they didn't care. Whoever lives here seems to be pretty damn rich. They could just get a new one.
I sigh, already fed up with everyone clashing into me, not watching their steps. "Watch where you're going!" Someone calls in my direction, and I ignore it—hard as it is after they slammed their shoulder into mine with no mercy. Or an apology, for that matter.
Me: Where the fuck are you?
It takes about thirty seconds until a response brightens the display.
J: Uh
J: A patio...
Spotting two glass doors, I open them, hoping they will take me where I so desperately need to be right now.
"Finally!" I hear as I do and am met with the sight of Jaehyun, somebody I consider a good friend, holding a bottle of beer in his hands—one that he's told me on multiple occasions that he doesn't like.
But no one really drinks beer for its taste, anyway.
"You made it! Sit down, we're not leaving early today."
Taking a seat beside Jaehyun, I spot a few other of our mutual friends, all having their drinks either beside or in front of them. We all eventually fall into conversation, and a bit later, I'm told to drink as much as I want.
Not that I need their encouragement.
Tumblr media
I might be shitfaced, but I have no idea how much I have actually had to drink. When I am drunk, I have my moods. I always do. And tonight, I am quite giddy.
Without knowing how I even got here, I find myself dancing among the crowd. At first, I dance by myself, swaying and spinning and then I suddenly have a shorter guy in front of me, whose name I don't quite recall. He takes my hands, and I let him spin me himself, stupid as we might look.
We fall into a rhythm together, and my feet feel numb when I'm spun around once more, and I'm in the hold of somebody else.
This one is taller in comparison to the one before him, so much so that I have to crane my neck in order to look him in the eye. Everybody seems so familiar, like I know who these people are, not only by their faces but also their names, but nothing clicks.
He asks me something, and even though I don't quite understand it, I giggle at him. When I ask him to repeat himself, he does, and I'm pretty sure I giggle even harder in response.
"—already wanted to talk to you when you arrived," I hear him say. "Seemed in quite a hurry to get away from us, though." The guy winks, who might be Riwoo, or Sungho, or maybe Woonhak? Or maybe I'm wrong, and it's none of them at all.
I don't reply, instead stumbling into everyone in my vicinity, but not a single one of them notices.
The guy I'm dancing with after I switched—again—steps on my foot by accident. I'm pretty sure I hear him apologize, notice his lips move as he mouths the apology to me, but all I do is take his hands and let him guide me around the dance floor, as he is just a bit less drunk than I am.
Sungho, he tells me—the one who owns this house, as I learned earlier—and he seems to enjoy my company quite a bit, since he pulls me closer just so that our chests are bumping occasionally—and I let him, although I feel nothing when our bodies touch.
That might be exactly why.
Sungho keeps me from falling to the ground, steadying me each time I start to lose my balance, which makes me laugh, although I am not certain why.
After a few times of him saving me from face planting, he's not as quick anymore, and I nearly fall onto my back. That is, if someone behind me didn't steady me before that happened. Involuntarily, since I fell into them, but still.
Feeling a laugh bubble up once more, I turn around to thank whoever helped me, and come face to face with probably the only face I'd be able to recognize from miles away, even in my state.
"What's so funny?"
Him, with that stupid little grin on his face that I've grown to treasure whenever directed at me. And one that is capable of making me melt. Not that I'd ever tell him this, though.
Taesan. My friend. Best friend, actually. He glances at Sungho, then back at me. I'm still laughing, but he only tilts his head at me, only slightly smiling now.
I step closer to him, so that we're chest to chest—suddenly feeling all kinds of things—and wrap my arms around his middle. I can tell he doesn't expect it, because he stiffens very slightly, though he covers it up quite well, putting his arms around me, wrapping me in a tight hug.
My friends know that I'm not physical. They know me, so they also know that I would never get this close to anyone and be so thrilled about it, if I was sober.
But if there is one person they trust I can show this giddy, oddly affectionate, drunk version of myself to, it is him.
Precisely why not a single one of them has come up to us to get me out of here, although I both feel and see their eyes on me.
I'm dancing with my arms wrapped around him—as good as I can—as a way to postpone the inevitable. I know he came to me because he thinks I went just a little overboard with the alcohol tonight.
"How much did you have to drink?" he asks into my ear, attempting to make eye contact, and although he's quiet, I still catch it.
"Not much," I lie, not meeting his eyes, and he knows it, because he laughs at me in response. The sound is full, and I smile as well.
"You're such a liar," he whispers, taking my hands off his back. Sungho, still standing there, seems to be waiting, looking at me like he wants something from me. What could he possibly need?
"Thanks for your help until now," Taesan speaks, and I'm suddenly imagining him sounding almost cold? No, that can't be it, "but I'll take it from here, yeah?"
It nearly doesn't sound like a question. Did I really drink that much? So much so that it makes me imagine things?
My best friend turns his face to me, and grins at me so warmly, and it's so different from how he just spoke to Sungho that I start blushing. Blushing.
Blushing, too, is out of character for me, and it should especially be when it's me blushing for my best friend, who I've known for ages now. Since we were kids—but this is not the first nor the last time I've blushed for him.
He seems to bring out the unexpected sides of me.
And him being sober and attentive as it is, it's obvious he'd notice it. "Aww, she's blushing now? How sweet," he teases, and I feel my face getting even hotter. Then, not wasting any more time, he's taking my hand in his, slipping his fingers into mine, leading me away.
His grip is firm, but as quick as he was to hold it, I feel his palm slip from mine as someone pushes into my side.
They clash into me, hard, and I suddenly feel my bare leg being soaked. Part of my dress, too. All I can think: thank god I didn't wear my favorite pair of stockings today. And then: but I did wear my favorite dress.
I resist the urge to pout like a child, and suck it up. Or I try to. But I know it's showing on my face. From the corner of my eye, I catch Taesan's frown.
The guy doesn't apologize, instead pushing past me, mumbling something under his breath. Brushing past, he then proceeds to step on my foot, and I suppress a yell, but barely.
But I don't even acknowledge the guy that just poured his drink over me and accidentally hurt me—with no apology—just keep walking, but now I hear commotion behind me, and notice I don't see Taesan in front of me anymore.
The only thing I see as I turn around is my best friend pushing the same guy who shoved me, to the ground. He says something to him, but I don't quite catch it. From here, I can't see his face, and I wish he'd turn around.
Then, he comes right back to me, unbothered—leaving the other guy on the floor, wide-eyed—like a job got done. He stands right in front of me, blocking my view of everyone else, and puts his hand on my cheek.
"Where'd you park your car, love? I'm taking you home." It takes me a moment to realize the use of the pet name, although I should have already grown used to it. But I can't deny one thing: it still has an effect on me, nonetheless.
I realize then, absolutely not in the right state of mind, that I can never let him know that—that there is too many things I can never let him know.
Taesan's waiting for a response, but I feel too dizzy to answer, so I point to our right when we step into the cold night air, me gripping onto his hand as we do.
A sudden urge to save myself from embarrassment makes me mumble out, "But—I can drive myself, I swear," I'm not sure I even believe what I'm saying.
"Do you even believe that?" He smiles, reading my mind.
"Okay, but what about your car?"
He briefly touches the skin beneath my neck, shaking his head. "I'll get it later, just let me bring you home first, yeah?"
I'm still stumbling, holding onto his arm now to hold myself up, and he doesn't mind. In fact, I'm pretty certain he finds me amusing to look at.
Once we reach my car and he opens the door for me to step into, he pulls out a tissue. He looks down at me, and I know he's asking for permission. As soon as he gets it, he's reaching over to wipe my leg dry carefully.
I watch him as he does it for me, although I could likely do it myself, even in this condition.
"Sorry about your dress," he says quietly.
"Don't worry," I say in response, "I can always put it in the washer, can't I?"
I catch his smile before it's gone, replaced with an odd kind of look in his eyes. "Right. It'd be a shame if you couldn't wear that dress anymore." And then, "It happens to be my favorite one of yours."
Glad he doesn't give me a chance to react or answer, he closes my door carefully and walks over to the driver's seat.
My own playlist drowns out the one from the house I've just spent hours dancing and drinking in, and as he begins to drive us to our destination, I finally get the chance to give in to the exhaustion and close my eyes.
I abruptly wake up when the car stops, and my eyes open slowly. I catch my best friend staring at me, and I meet his eyes, even if it's hard not to fall asleep right here, yet again.
I can't stop the smile when he carefully intertwines our fingers, and he can't either. "We're here," he whispers.
He'll walk me to my house and then leave once he's made sure I'm okay and sobering up, but for some reason, I don't even want him to leave. God, I really need to control myself at parties. Drinking so much has really turned me stupid and unreasonable.
Not crossing the line between friendship and love has never been a problem before, and tonight is about to put an end to that. I'm not sure if I want that.
Taesan likely assumes my silence is a result of being ... plastered, when in reality, I'd feel oddly sober if it wasn't for my wobbly legs. Stepping out of the car, it isn't long until he opens the door beside me, unbuckling my seat belt for me.
The next thing I know, I'm being carried in the air, right in his arms, and he heads in my house's direction.
We have done this so many times before that I'm not scared at all of falling. Maybe only of a ... different kind of falling.
Perhaps I'm very, very lonely. Maybe that's it. Why else would I suddenly be feeling things that I have never felt before, for someone that has been in my life ever since I can remember?
I find myself questioning this while he takes me up the stairs leading to my home. I have never felt this before, have I?
"You okay?" he asks. I open my eyes, not having noticed that I'd closed them. "Sleepy," I whisper.
He grins down at me, sincerity in his eyes. It's always stayed there, never dimmed. Not since I've known him. Maybe it's that I like most about him. He is honest, and he is kind. There's not a single thing about him that is not genuine.
"You'll sleep soon, love."
I nod against his chest, and my eyes close involuntarily.
The next time I wake, it's with him setting me on my bed, and I listen to him shuffle in my drawers, picking out my pyjamas and putting them beside me.
Giving him the keys to my house keeps proving itself as a great choice.
"Let me get you some water," he says, and I stand and quickly get out of my dress, the wet spot in it being near unbearable. I run to the bathroom, and when I step out of it, I enjoy the feel of my pyjamas on my skin.
When he comes back with a water bottle and a glass in his hands, I just take the bottle, putting it to my mouth and downing most of it immediately.
"Looks like you needed that."
This might be the least of what I need right now. My newly discovered feelings for him are confusing and scary, and I have no idea what to do about them. I don't know if maybe they're going to ruin the only thing that has ever been consistent in my life.
He sits beside me, hand falling to mine on my side. I notice that it doesn't go further than that. He doesn't squeeze it, doesn't even hold it. He simply rests it on top of mine.
The touch is so warm and inviting that I turn my hand to slip it into his, grip firm, scared he'll want to let go.
But when all he does is squeeze back and look at me in a kind of pleasant surprise, I ask.
"Do you want to stay the night?"
There is one thing that's quite important for context here.
He has not slept over at my house since we were fourteen years old. Scratch that, probably even twelve. Not since the concept of little boyfriends and girlfriends came into the picture, and our parents decided against it. Becoming older, that didn't change. Perhaps we'd gotten used to it by then.
He's always taken care of me and made sure I was safe and happy, but for him (or me) to stay the night was a line we decided not to cross.
Until now.
I expect him to look shocked, perhaps a little freaked out, even? I have no idea what to expect. But when I look up at him—a cute little grin plastered there, right on his face.
"I'll stay if you'd like me to. You're still tipsy, perhaps it's better if I'm close tonight," he says, standing, and I'm imagining things yet again, this time a nervous quiver to his voice.
"And I'll sleep on the couch, but I'll keep the door to the living room open, yeah? Just come to me for whatever you need."
I can't help but feel disappointment over the fact that he's not even sleeping in the same room, but I know that he's doing that mostly because he doesn't know how drunk I still am. He's doing it for me. I barely feel any remnants of the alcohol at all when I think about how warm and kind and understanding he's been to me, all night, all of our lives.
Although he's never slept here, he does have some of his clothes stored in my closet, and he takes them before he makes his way to me.
"Sleep well." His hand goes to my cheek, touch soft. His fingers move across the side of my face in a caress. I don't even think he takes notice of this, but I don't stop him.
If him telling me good night will always be like this, I'd let him stay here every night.
His gaze roams across my face, eyes alight. "You look so pretty. You always do. And I've always thought so," he says, an admission that leaves me feeling everything at once.
My shock likely written all over my face, he tilts my head upward, kisses my nose, just once, and leaves.
Tumblr media
I feel a sort of emptiness as I lay in the same spot as I've been in for a long, long time. Definitely hours. It has to be morning now. The feeling surprises me, but most of all, it confuses me.
Never have I not been fine being in bed on my own, wrapped in my sheets with no one beside me to hold, have never wanted anyones comfort as I drift to sleep.
I feel better now, my mind clearing. I'm left wondering whether everything I felt last night was just the alcohol, after all. The possibility occurs to me—that everything about this, all of these feelings and sensations, are simply fleeting—and it fills me both with hope and dread, the combination of those two conflicting.
Though I come to realize the dread overpowers the rest, and I'm up and out of my room before I can think about what I'm doing. I find him on the living room couch, watching what appears to be a documentary on the TV.
The blinds are still down, so it's still almost as dark as it was when we entered.
He only notices me when I sit beside him, startling at the realization of me being there. "You okay? How are you feeling?" he asks, and I pick up on his cautious tone.
"I'm alright. Not sure how much I slept, but I sure can't sleep now."
I pull my legs to my chest and stare at him, and he pats the empty space beside him—the space I'd originally left empty on purpose.
Still, I scoot over to him and don't object when he carefully puts his arm around my shoulders, fingers trailing up and down my upper arm, a motion that I doubt he's conscious of.
"And by the looks of it, you didn't sleep all that much either. You didn't drink, though. So what's keeping you up?" I ask.
I notice his eyes burning into me, but I stare ahead and let the question hang between us until he gives me an answer. "Not sure," he whispers. "Just had some trouble falling asleep tonight. Got a lot on my mind."
That makes two of us. "Well, I'm sorry for ruining the party for you." I didn't realize this when it happened, but I came to the realization earlier that I probably ruined a night out for him.
"You thinking I was there to 'party'," he smiles, "in the first place, is cute," he teases. "But Jaehyun called and said you were in desperate need of a ride. Since they had all drunk, none of them could do it. And well, he knew who to call."
He knew who to call. "Were those his words?" I ask after a few seconds pass.
With a contemplating tilt of his head, he says, "I'm pretty sure he just said you needed me." Of course he did.
My friend, Jaehyun, has a way of meddling in things he has no idea about. For example, he does not quite understand why nothing has ever happened between me and my best friend.
"Go for it. Be brave. I don't understand it. What do you have to lose?" He'd said to me then, adjusting the glasses on his head.
I'd looked at him like he was insane.
"Him, Jaehyun. Him."
Apart from me not wanting to lose the connection we had, I'd always been convinced that I never held any romantic feelings for him like that, anyway. Jaehyun thought otherwise, but then he'd said something that stuck with me.
"You'll never be happy if you keep letting yourself be the one thing holding you back."
"Thank you, by the way," I whisper, swiftly changing the subject.
"What for, love?" he asks, confused.
"You risked getting into trouble for me. You didn't have to, but you did. I'm glad you always stand up for me," I confess, remembering the guy who ruined my dress earlier.
"Oh." A little smile. "Don't worry about that. I can't stand rudeness, and he was being rude to you," at this, he frowns deeply, as if he's reminded of something. "He had to learn."
"Did he ... insult me, or something?" I ask, remembering how he said something when he clashed into me. It's a shot in the blue, but it's not like him to get angry all that easily.
He just nods, not elaborating. And I don't push.
I suddenly wonder what it would be like for this to be a usual thing. Him stepping up so I don't have to, him taking care of me in this way. Because I'm not stupid. As my friend, he didn't have to do all this for me.
But if he were more, this would be natural for us. Expected, even.
"You'll never be happy if you keep letting yourself be the one thing holding you back."
And now I'm here, still only holding myself back. Though these feelings are this new, or rather, newly discovered, at least they aren't a product of the drinks I had. Instead, they were feelings that had been growing for a long time, and today, I finally allowed them.
I feel his finger on my chin, and I shudder. He tilts my head up, slowly, and he's so gentle and there's so much affection in the way he's looking at me when we're at eye level that I have no choice.
"Hey, what's wro—"
He never gets to finish his sentence, interrupted by my mouth on his, featherlight.
I feel him freeze, and for just a second, I fear the worst.
He's going to reject me. He's going to reject me, and I'll look like the fool that I've been feeling like ever since I stepped foot into that party.
And I'm going to have to make him leave because I'll be too mortified to even look him in the face.
Ever again.
Needing to know how he feels, I pull away. I find him staring down at me in something akin to awe. Still, he makes no effort to move, or to speak. He is only staring at me, eyes bulging out of his head, and I panic.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry, I shouldn't just—"
"Y/N, baby, please tell me you feel fully sober."
I startle, surprised by him speaking to me. Surprised he hasn't run out of the door yet. And then, realizing it only moments later, surprised at the petname.
Baby. I've never heard him call me that before. It feels nicer than I'd like to admit. I almost make him say it again.
"Hey, I swear, I'm sober now—I promise. I would never lie to—"
And then both his hands frame my face, and he kisses me.
Never have I thought about what it would feel like before, but I believe I would have thought that the first time he kissed me, it'd be gentle and sweet.
Nothing about how he's kissing me right now is either of that. It's desperate and it's eager. Even as he guides me to lie down on my couch, wasting no time getting on top of me, I still can't get enough.
Even like this, distracted by hands on my waist and lips against mine, I feel his grin.
He pulls away way too fast.
"You don't have a single clue how fucking much I've been wanting this."
His thumb is tracing along my stomach while he says it, and I make a mental note to tell him how much he touches me without being aware he's doing it.
He's never touched me like this, but it still feels so right, like he's never not done it.
I make space for him beside me, and he smiles at me as he gets comfortable, getting way closer than I am used to, facing me on his side, hand on my hip.
"You're so beautiful," he's saying, and before he even continues, I spot that giddy look on his face that tells me he's about to tell me something that he's been itching to tell.
"I'm not sure how you feel about me, but I'm just going to be honest with you now because you kissed me first, even if I'm still not one hundred percent sure why. I like you. I really, really like you. I have since forever. And when I say forever, I mean it. Ever since we were kids."
The confession leaves me lost for words.
"To be honest, I never planned on telling you, because I thought you'd never like me back. I thought, why not save yourself from the pain of her rejection? And I was fine with being only your friend, never more."
Before he carries on, he shakes his head.
"Fuck that, it killed me to think I'd never get to have you like that. Especially because not only would I have to be your friend forever, I'd have to see you with other guys who you would see as more than that. And well, I wouldn't be strong enough for that." He thinks for just a second.
"But it's scary, because I know I would have tried to be if only it meant I could stay in your life."
He kisses me again, softly this time. And again. And again. "I think I'd do anything for you," he whispers.
And I wish I could find the words to tell him I wouldn't do any less for him, but my mouth won't open, won't make a sound.
I blink up at him, and I'm not sure what he sees in my face that makes him laugh, but he does. "It's okay. You don't have to say anything. I don't expect more from you than you're willing to give."
I stay silent.
"Okay, actually, I do need you to tell me you weren't just trying to mess around just now and that you do feel at least something for me, or I might go a little insane."
I still don't find the words, feeling like an idiot.
Taesan's face scrunches up. "Hey, are you—"
"I like you."
The relief that floods his face makes me smile. But unlike me, I don't leave him without the ability to speak. "Yeah? You like me?" he teases, putting his hand at my neck, getting closer to my face.
My cheeks flush, like they do only with him. "I like you more than anyone, and I don't want to hide that from you. I still need to fully understand what I feel, but I know I need you with me. As more than my friend."
That response satisfies him, although it is a lot less than what he gave me—I'm reminded of how he's so sweet to me that it hurts—and he rolls on top of me once more. "Well, then let me help you figure things out."
"And how will you do that?" I ask as his fingers find my jaw, stroking it.
"By taking you on a date."

I absolutely need to know more about mark webber's little corner in the diagram, him and seb, his marriage to jenson, oscar as his Official Mistress, just absolutely everything.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*cracks fingers* spoiler galore ahead for the Tight Leash, Loose Collar universe. Enjoy.
So before the current grid baby boom drama there was the legendary '10s baby boom drama after which a looot of new F1 rules were introduced over the alphas and omegas on the grid. Mark and Seb's story was something of a foreshadowing for what would happen to Carlos & Charles.
Mark, the less appreciated but more experienced older alpha, who was very much fed up with his second-coming-of-jesus omega teammate had the panic of his life when Seb got pregnant. A little difference between charlos and martian (or sebmark or markseb or whatever they're called idk) is that Mark hated Sebastian far more than Carlos could ever hate Charles (and believe me there will be times when Carlos will be near blind with hate later on).
Sebastian was the blueprint for "psycho egomaniac superiority complex underlined with backbreaking secret paranoia hysteric diva possessive wifey who treats his alpha worse than a dog but expects full loyalty of him" omega that Charles was taking serious notes of when he was his protégé - Charles swore that he would actually achieve what Seb couldn't, which was lock down his babydaddy alpha teammate before another bitch could take him. Because yes, Seb got pregnant with Mark's child.
Seb was a dangerous little minx, Mark could tell when he first got paired up with the boy, but he gave in to the temptation of all the naughty flirting the omega was putting him through and blindly believed Seb when he told him he was on the pill and fucked him raw. Only Seb had other ideas, and the same year he won his first world championship he also told Mark on the podium of the Brazilian GP they had a 1-2 finish on that they were going to have a baby. And Mark knew that if he thought he was being mistreated so far it would only get worse once Seb has him fully babytrapped.
He didn't intend to mate Seb, he was as terrified of him as he wanted him, but mating and marriage in general wasn't on his agenda - he said so to Jenson who had to retire from the season early, after the Hungarian GP in August due to being in the 5th month of his surprise pregnancy that caught everybody off guard. He knew that Jenson, having his pregnancy at that stage, meant he got pregnant sometime during or after the Australian GP. Where he won first place and let Mark fuck his brains out to make him feel better after ending up in 9th at his home race. He approached Jenson about the baby after he revealed to the press why he's taking his early leave but didn't reveal the babydaddy to them and Mark asked him in private - was he the father?
Jenson was a notorious slut, he already had a set of twins born in 2001 to an unknown father and he was not intending to slow down his party whore ways just because he got knocked up again. Jenson just shrugged at Mark and said he could be, but so could 4 other alphas so he's not expecting any of them to take responsibility. It left Mark uneasy, he knew Jenson was a free spirit but he wanted to take care of him properly and he checked on him regularly anyways, making sure he wasn't harming himself or the baby with his clubbing wild-child ways, but told him he'd respect his need for freedom and not force a relationship or bond or marriage on him.
But after Brazil when he stepped off the podium and got asked how he'd celebrate, still reeling from what Sebastian whispered in his ear, he said with a dry mouth:
"I will probably call Jenson and tell him we should change our honeymoon location to Brazil." And at the uproar of the paparazzi he claimed that yes he indeed was the father and yes he and Jenson have secretly been engaged, but he can't hold it in himself anymore and he must admit that the two of them are a couple.
The face Sebastian made right after his statement was worth all the absolute horrific shit he was bound to go through after.
Sebastian intended to force a marriage on him before his belly started to show, but with Mark now a proud soon to be father and engaged man he knew he would hurt his own reputation as well as Mark's if he exposed him as his babydaddy now. Then there was Jenson, very much surprised by Mark's statement, but he played along and rolled with it when Mark promised him in private that he will allow Jenson all the freedom he could ever want as long as he lets Mark claim and marry him.
"You don't have to change. Go clubbing, say and do whatever you want, live like you've always done. You can spread your legs to anybody, have anyone's babies, I don't care, I'll take responsibility. Just please, I'm begging you here, Jenny. Please be my wife." Mark had tears in his eyes as he rested his cheek on Jenson's thigh, getting pet like a dog while he was on his knees in front of the omega who snorted down at the pathetic sight he made. It was after the final GP of the season, Mark skipping Seb's world champion party so he could have some time alone with his "bride."
It wasn't like there wasn't any love between them, Mark and Jenson have had casual hookups for years now and there was always affection involved in it; Mark was the most protective and mature alpha Jenson ever had a situationship with so it wasn't a hard decision to say yes and let him put that pretty ring on his finger. And Mark was true to his word, he only ever really held him back from serious partying when he was pregnant or breastfeeding, other than that he was a perfectly lenient husband, not saying a word when Jenson would stumble home with some other alpha's cum running down his thighs and cocaine still stuck to his nose, he'd just help him clean up and then fuck him hard but quietly so they don't wake the kids up. He was a very good daddy after all.
He took care of Alonso's bastard alpha son better than Jenson could ever have expected, and he really earned the right to have the boy named after him. Little Marcus had a clear preference for Mark over his mother, and downright hated "uncle" Nando when he came over to try to buddy up his illegitimate child and fuck his mom on the side. It didn't bother Alonso much, it wasn't like Marcus was his only baby outside of marriage; he had three other ones from Kimi - which, if he didn't find out for himself, Kimi would have never told him about. Plus, Marcus wasn't stupid, he knew what was going on even before he heard his parents argue about it in the kitchen after a disastrous garden party where Seb showed up uninvited with his own children from Mark.
Children. Yes. Plural. Because if you thought Seb would let Mark leave him so easily boy oh boy, were you wrong.
Seb busted his condoms before approaching Mark for a ceasefire after Mark's first biological child from Jenson, an alpha daughter named Marley was born. He wanted the kids to get along at least. Hence why 9 months later Seb gave birth to his own alpha daughter from Mark, Matilda.
Seb kept pressuring Mark to divorce Jenson, saying how with his two kids now from Mark, he still outqualified Jenson. Yes of course they needed to make it into a race. And they ended up with an equal number of 4-4 kids biologically sired by Mark, but even if Seb could coarse more children out of him, Mark would have been mad to pick him over Jenson.
Mark did own up to fathering Seb's 4 children, Wolfgang, the alpha boy Seb whispered about back in Brazil, Matilda, the alpha girl Seb cheated out of him, and omega twins Roman and Wendel, who were born from an ill-timed guilt trip session. His admission subsequently tore him asunder by the media and forced him to retire and keep out of the public eye for a good while, instead focusing on being a good father to his kids from Jenson and trying to somehow keep his sanity every time he went to visit his kids from Seb.
It was difficult to juggle his double home life, with an unruly wife and a chaotic "It should be me who is your wife", and when his young protégé, Oscar, offered to help with babysitting, he couldn't have been more relieved. Oscar was a breath of fresh air, a quiet omega with exceptional talent who Mark was more than happy to mentor, and in exchange Oscar would help him with the kids and housework unprompted. It was a bit of a shock to his system that the 19 year old kid made a better housewife than his actual wife or manic ex, taking care of his kids from both of them better than their actual mothers.
"Welcome back. How was your day?" Oscar greeted him once when Mark stepped through the door, utterly exhausted. He wore a cute apron and had clips in his hair he got as a Christmas present from Matilda (Mark's daughter from Seb), sleeves rolled up and smelling of freshly baked gingerbread. It wasn't because he was baking any, that was just his natural omega scent that now filled Mark's heart with utter delight when he saw Oscar's sweet little smile as he took his coat gently off his shoulders.
"The kids had a good day, all done with their homework. Marcus got selected in the school cricket team. Marley aced her math test. We went to the park so now Jackson will be asking you for a puppy for his birthday. Kylie too of course, but they want different breeds. She drew you a car, I put it on the fridge, make sure you tell her how impressive it is at breakfast she spent a lot of time on it. And Hendrix had a day without crying at daycare. Small wins. Why don't you take a hot shower while I get your dinner ready? I've made pasta-"
Now, if someone asked him outright, Mark would have blamed being on the brink of rut for his actions. There's no other understandable excuse to kissing your 19 year old protégé right there in the doorway and then making out with him all the way to the couch where you took his virginity like an utter beast.
He felt guilt and shame after of course but Oscar was just so perfect it was already torture to not give in to the urge sooner. And Oscar wanted him too. He loved him. He said so over an over again while Mark grinded his knot deep in his cunt. Unprotected. He didn't ask Oscar if he was on the pill. He didn't dare to ask him days after whether he should be worried or if the omega took a morning after pill. He didn't ask anything when his rut was finally knocking at the door and so was Oscar despite being told to stay away for the duration of it. The boy went to him flushed and wearing cream colored lingerie beneath his hoodie and near torpedoed him into the bed so he could ride his cock like his life depended on it.
It was Jenson that asked, after Oscar threw up in the garden while playing with the kids two weeks later:
"Did you get that kid pregnant?"
And yes. Mark did.
Pandora Piastri was born 9 months after Mark took his virginity in 2021. Mark was utterly ashamed of himself for ruining thar perfect boy's future but not more than how proud he was at having sired such a beautiful little babygirl with him. Oscar didn't mind at all, he was already mothering Mark's kids from other omegas, what is one more he genuinely birthed? Mark was afraid the child would hinder his future career but Oscar has impressed him once again by only getting better and better on track and in the downtime, still playing nanny to Mark's children. The fact that Pandora was his daughter missed the attention of most journalists, until 2025, when a large number of omegas on the grid suddenly seemed to have babybumps they were unable to hide.
Mark thought initially that once again it was him who got Oscar pregnant and he finally intended to go through with the divorce but Oscar stopped him. He didn't want Mark to give up what he had with Jenson. Over the years, both Jenson and Seb went from despising Oscar to accepting him as another addition to their fucked up family, and ironically the most mature and reasonable one out of all of them, and Oscar didn't want to kick up their dynamic.
"Besides, the baby might not be yours. Don't risk it." Oscar told him, unable to look him in the eye.
It was a shock that nearly brought him to his knees when he got the wedding invite, that his boy, his beloved Oscar, would be marrying none other than Zak Brown. He couldn't wait to beat the other alpha into a sticky pulp, but barely managed to give him a broken nose before Oscar pulled him off of the man and told him to quit it. Zak was an old pervert, yes, but he wasn't the babydaddy to Melody, Oscar's second child. It was Carlos, another married alpha with his own drama which didn't allow him to take responsibility. Zak was just helping him out by taking responsibility (and getting his own pups into him in turn, because yeah he has been buggering Oscar too with great delight) but Oscar would still regard Mark as his greatest love that he knew he couldn't marry for both of their sake.
Mark would claim Oscar as his official mistress in the press after Oscar births Mark his next child despite his insistence that it's not necessary. Mark doesn't care, he has nothing to lose anymore at that point.
It is quite tragic, but Oscar's relationship with Mark didn't stop despite his affair with Carlos or his marriage to Zak. Oscar will have more children from all three alphas too and his one is definitely a bittersweet happy ending. But everybody has something like that as a best case scenario in this verse.

WoT 3x01-3x03 thoughts
Book spoilers aplenty! Cut for those and length because I had more to say than I thought.
These are basically random things that stood out to me, assume I really enjoyed all 3 episodes and think the show has really hit its stride as of this season, as someone who has enjoyed it from the start and is a book fan from way back.
I continue to just be deeply, deeply grateful that my very first early-teens fandom is giving me a big-budget adaptation which is almost perfectly tailored to my interests and tastes as a middle-aged queer woman - like, that certainly hasn't happened with other adaptations of stuff I've loved, I know this adaptation doesn't hit that way for everybody who loved WoT as a teen, but it is more or less perfect for me and what a profound gift that is.
On to random thoughts:
These people like each other!!! Possibly the key reason this show works so well for me is the script and cast sell 100% that these are people who like and care about each other, not just in the big moments but the little stuff. The platonic chemistry is so bonkers good across the whole main cast. There was a bit of tonal whiplash in 3x01 from big setpiece battle to People Just Chillin' but I am willing to forgive it because I love the Just Chillin' bits so much. Mat making a dick joke about the White Tower and Egwene/Rand/Nynaeve reacting perfectly in character? No notes.
Much has been said about that big setpiece battle because it's been out a while but I genuinely do appreciate a show that lets a bunch of middle-aged women go to town in mortal magical combat - it makes me think of that infamous anecdote about the MCU female actors being told to not move their faces in big fight scenes because it looked bad - this is like the polar opposite of that. Love it.
Controversial take but I do think the choice to only show one key part of Egwene's Accepted test was the right call. Doing a whole episode focused on Nynaeve's means we know how it works, and they did one very effective scene to ram home the key conflict for Egwene right now. They get eight hours a season, it's fine.
The bubble of evil (with the twist of Lanfear doing it with Moiraine's contrivance!!!) was so well done. I was a bit confused by Mat and Nynaeve's scene because as a book reader I fully expected the cards to attack him but on a second watch I don't think I would be. The axe cutting off Perrin's wedding ring???? goddamn.
I was spoiled (happily) for the Avilayne hook-up scene (!!!) and it is early for that, but I like that it was played very much as a hook-up where both parties would like to take it further if they get a chance but can't be in the same place right now, I think that's going to lead both to some sweet future romance and some very funny Elayne-Aviendha-Rand dynamics. If we ever get Aviendha extolling Elayne's skill in bed to Rand in an attempt to get them to hook up, or vice-versa, I will die (complimentary). MAKE IT HAPPEN R2J2.
They're really letting the weight of compounding trauma hang on all the main characters, not just Rand, and it's making the big fantasy arcs feel grounded. But also...oh, babies, you've got so much more to come.
I'm glad Moghedien is very effectively creepy (it is so easy to forget HOW creepy she is at the start) but I hate and am bored by torture scenes so like...less of that in future I hope, except we're getting Semirhage, so probably not less. Sigh.
The show continues to use book canon in such fun ways to create show-specific plots - in the books Morgase does come to Tar Valon to demand Elayne back and leaves Elaida behind, it creates a rift between Andor and the Tower, it just happens off-page and before Elayne returns. This is such smart re-writing!
Tsutama survived!!! I am obsessed with all the Red Ajah stuff, yes it's setting up for the Coup but it is also setting up for a Black Ajah Hunters/Asha'man Warders plotline and they've established Tsutama really clearly as a level-headed and reasonable Red sister. Whether she ends up standing in for all the 'good Reds' (mostly Teslyn and Pevara, maybe Silviana as well?) I don't know but I like that we've got an early start on that. Yes, I love all the minor Aes Sedai plotlines, no apologies.
Fascinated by how show!Elaida seems to have a very similar backstory to book Lelaine and Romanda - an older sister who had semi-retired but used to hold significant power, was an almost-but-not-quite Amyrlin Seat, and sees opportunity in a time of crisis. It will I think make either Lelaine or Romanda seem obvious foils for her and Egwene's position more obviously precarious.
The way the Waygate opens when not channelled open is fucking cool, the VFX have stepped up a level even on last season.
Also obsessed with the way they've done Rahvin's plot - the long pauses before Leane and Elayne are caught were perfect - and the way he's been positioned, in an extremely Hugh Jackman Magazine Cover way, as a powerful woman's dream later-life partner instead of the somewhat generic rapist of the books (who is nevertheless an accurate portrayal of a kind of man who specifically enjoys abusing powerful women). Book!Rahvin would have been way creepier with Elayne, show!Rahvin is cosplaying Best Stepdad with her even when he has all the cards. And this too is an accurate take on how abusers are good at showing a caring face to people they need on side. It's going to make the reveal much more insidious. Now regretting my former takes that show!Morgase needs to die. I think she probably will but it's going to be so awful.
RYMA ISN'T A DAMANE FUCK YEAH. NGL this was also necessary (along with Tsutama) to balance out the show's very real S1 colourism issue which casting Alviarin as another dark-skinned Black woman would otherwise have, uh, not helped with. I mean maybe she still dies in the Coup or something but at least she's alive and free now.
Elayne with that line about the novice rooms being small - lmao ok I know this is an exigency of TV sets where they can't be that small but that room is HUGE compared to the book descriptions, like twice the size of the Accepted rooms. I guess she's a princess but still.
Galad literally white knighting his way around the Tower - there is a Character Arc coming here, I think it will also be very significant that the cold open for 3x02 set up the precedent of the male relatives of the High Seats murdering them to make peace with Morgase and Trakand and we'll see an explicit plotline about the Whitecloaks intervening in the Succession. Anyway he's not pretty enough but he's exactly annoying enough and I'm ready for his full fall and rise arc. Gawyn...was also there? Sorry Gawyn fans I'm sure he'll get more of a glow-up once his love interest status comes into play.
Everything in Liandrin's plotline is building towards her getting murdered by Moghedien so Moggy can win that promotion to Nynaeve's #1 Enemy status. Given that she's already sent Grey Men after her twice I am currently betting on Liandrin dying to try and save Nynaeve and Nynaeve having to live with that (and being mad about it forever, like HOW DARE LIANDRIN DO THAT).
Shout-out to the Evil Glow-ups Nyomi and the other Black sisters got in Tanchico. Is it a bit silly? Yes. Is it also fun? Yes. The costuming is so good this season, it's always been good but it continues to be spectacular and a real and heartfelt thanks to the costume team for deciding that in this turning of the Wheel, even though it's a fantasy show, women can wear trousers. (Butch Tower servant disguise Min? Impeccable).
Lots of scenes straight from TDR/TSR, all very well-executed (Siuan and Mat a stand-out) but I have fewer notes on those simply because they're doing what already exists well, it's the new or changed things which excite me. If I want to read the books I can read the books. Which doesn't mean I don't want those key scenes done well but there's just less to say about them.
Final note: I can't believe Nyomi had a non-book-character name so they could hide she was Black Ajah, I fully thought it was so she could die in the Coup. Good job writers there. I hope she adopts some cats, though, Marillin and her cats constantly outing them is one of the funniest subplots of the whole Liandrin crew storyline because it's so deeply exactly what some real person would do.

synopsis; you were an ideal student. obedient, quiet, educated, and experienced. oh haewon was not. immature and childish, yet still above you academically and with everyone wrapped around her finger. everyone except you. you refuse to be reeled in by her natural charm and hope to make it out of this project alive, with or without her.
trope; non idol!haewon x fem!reader, sort of academic rivals to lovers, uni au, fluff,
wc; 5.1k
cw; some swearing
a/n; just wanted to write something a little silly :3 seeing haewon with kids is so </3 didnt proofread again and im zzzz
“… and Song y/n, your partner will be Oh Haewon.”
“WHAT?!” A pair of shrill voices rang out throughout the classroom, causing not only the students but also the professor to jump at the sudden sound.
You wildly grip at the pen within your hand, the plastic material beneath your fingers creaking and threatening to break at any second. No. There's no way you’re paired up with her.
Oh Haewon, second year university student, business major, and the bane of your existence.
She is loud, immature, annoying, always out partying, a chronic class-skipper, never pays attention during lectures, and never actually talks about the material during discussion. She claims that everything she does is a form of “networking,” but you don't buy it. It's all just an excuse to keep on slacking off. Despite this, almost everybody who came across Oh Haewon’s path practically fell in love with her at first sight.
Everyone except you.
The worst part about it all? Was the fact that she was seemingly the best performing student out of all the classes you two ended up taking together. She somehow managed to even beat you. No matter how good you do during exams or projects, or how long you dedicate to studying, Haewon always manages to get a higher score. You don’t think she even studies!
You, Song y/n, were a perfect student. Business major, second year, and valedictorian of your graduating high school class. You were quiet, but confident, you always turned your assignments in on time and dedicated many hours of rigorous study time for all of your classes. You held a paid internship on campus as well as an executive board position within a business club on campus and a volunteer organization as well. The odds were entirely in your favor.
Your horrified gaze slowly shifts towards the other girl from across the room, who sat in her seat with her hands dug deep within her dark bobbed hair. Seems like Haewon wasn't all too fond of the idea of being your partner either.
Timidly raising your hand, you try to speak up, try to fight for better treatment for you and your sanity, but the professors ice cold glare cuts you off as he speaks,
“As of now, partner assignments are final. If there are genuine issues between partners that hinder either one's ability to create an effective marketing strategy, come to me in a week. No sooner. I specifically hand picked your partners for a reason.”
You silently slump back down into your seat, defeated, and you can hear a faint thump from across the classroom. Out of the corner of your eye, you can see Haewon’s face buried within her desk. Must’ve slammed her head into the table at the news. You would have done the same if you cared as little for your image as Haewon did.
⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚
The sound of snickering and nails quickly tapping against a phone screen was all you could hear within the silent study room. Your eyebrow twitches irritably as you try to focus on the powerpoint slide in front of you, but the words on the screen seem to melt into one another as you hear the girl slam her hand over her mouth to stifle a laugh.
Unable to subdue your temper, you slam your laptop screen shut, the sound bouncing off the rooms walls as Haewon jumps within her seat, nearly dropping her phone as she stares at you with comically wide eyes.
“Are you serious right now, Haewon? I haven’t even seen you actually add anything to the presentation since we got here.”
The shorter girl rolls her eyes as she leans back in her chair, avoiding your gaze as she responds, “We already established who’s doing what, I can just do it later,” She shrugs, and the careless sight irritates you to no end. “You do the more technical stuff like research, budgeting, or whatever,  while I do the stuff that actually matters like target audience analysis and promotion– ‘cause I highly doubt you know how to actually charm potential investors with that stick up your a–”
Heat rapidly rushes to your face as you lunge forward across the table, hand slamming onto the table as you stick your finger in Haewon’s face to cut off her sentence. “That is just… So… Disgusting!! How can you even speak to me like that?!”
You knew how to socialize and talk to people…! It's just that nobody ever wanted to stick around, that's all… And you preferred it that way, actually. Nobody can drag you down if you simply stick to your numbers and graphs, no people involved.
Haewon snickers at your response as you sit back down, rubbing your temples as you try to steady your breathing, a bit embarrassed that you allowed yourself to snap like that in front of her of all people..
“Look, if you were just going to do it all at home, why are you still here?” You try to speak in a neutral tone, but it was difficult to remain composed after your outburst. You can feel your eyebrow twitching once again as you speak.
A sinister smirk forms on her lips as she finally looks you in the eye. “‘cause I know it pisses you off.”
You have to firmly bite the inside of your cheek to the point where you worry about drawing blood in order to hold yourself back from tackling this girl and beating her to a pulp right then and there. Taking a deep breath, you simply open your laptop and get back to organizing the format of the presentation in silence. Fine then. She can go on and be that way and be uncooperative. What did it matter to you? It seemed like you had to do most of the work, as always. From above the top of your laptop, you can spot Haewon rolling her eyes once again and resume texting whoever may be taking her attention away on the phone.
⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚
Unfortunately, Haewon was not as incapable as you expected her to be. She actually put some effort into her parts of the project, and they were actually pretty good. She knew exactly what people wanted, and even proposed ideas you never would have thought to be effective on your own. Haewon was a people’s person, and people with that kind of natural charm make it far within the world of business. Asking to change partners would prove inefficient for you.
You’d never tell her that to her face though.
For the rest of the month, you and Haewon had come to a mutual agreement. Meet once a week on Wednesdays, around 2-4 PM at the business building on campus. Work on the project, then leave. More often than not, the two of you would work in silence, and you simply chose to not make any comments if she happened to be on her phone giggling to herself during the session. She wasn’t worth it. Besides, you had other things to worry about. Upcoming midterms, exec board event planning, your internship. It was a lot, but you could handle it as long as everything went according to your precise and calculated schedule.
Haewon had been pretty respectful of your established meeting time for the past three weeks, but of course, something had to come up when week four came around. Right when you had another major presentation for your business club to prepare for as well. You had been settled down into the study room you always rented out every Wednesday tapping away at your laptop when your phone vibrated. Unusual. You had do not disturb on.
Oh Haewon [13:55] – hey
Oh Haewon [13:55] –  i wont be able to make it to the business building on time today
Oh Haewon [13:55] – i would ask to rain check but i know ull throw a fit bc i ruined ur schedule or sum
Oh Haewon [13:55]  – so can u just meet me at the child development lab instead?
… Child development laboratory? Your eyebrows knit together as you stare at the text on your screen. What could she possibly be doing there?
Come to think of it, you don’t really know much about Haewon to begin with. You tried to rack your brain for any information about your class partner outside of the obvious, and… Nothing. You knew nothing of her hobbies, interests, actual activity outside of her public outings. Not that she really mattered or interested you in the slightest, but the idea of simply being out of the loop with someone who played a major part in your weekly schedule made you a bit… Uncomfortable?
Sighing, you begin to pack up your belongings. She could have at least told you this before you already arrived and got settled in the private study room. That's what you get for being 30 minutes early to everything, you suppose. You now either have to move everything in your schedule back, or do a whole revamp of the entire week. You take a breath. It’ll be fine.
If your memory serves you correctly (in which it always does) the next bus that arrives will take you near the lab. An annoyed huff leaves your lips as you zip up your bag. So much for routine.
Your phone rings out one more time.
Oh Haewon [14:07] — skasdkfj apple kjj k
You’re convinced Oh Haewon has officially gone crazy.
⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚
After hopping off the bus and walking in whatever direction Google Maps told you to go, you eventually found yourself at the doors of a building you’ve only ever occasionally passed by on walks. It had a mural of multiple colorful images along its walls, from a giant sun with a smiley face to different kinds of flowers and other doodles scribbled on the brick. Your eyes shift towards the side, where a fenced in play area lay. The sounds of multiple children laughing and screaming made a small smile form on your lips, and you couldn’t help but approach the edge of the fence to watch the young ones play.
You weren’t all too big on kids, more focused on your own academics and staying afloat while in university, but the sight of them still managed to soften your harsh demeanor. They were so innocent and pure, you sometimes wish you could go back in time and relive your childhood once more. You catch sight of a little girl chasing another, flower in hand. The both of them laughing excitedly before one screamed out, “let's go show Haewon-unnie!!”
Haewon-unnie?
Cocking your head to the side in confusion, you watch as the pair of girls scamper towards the wall of the building, where a very preoccupied Haewon remains, squatting down while a horde of children literally climb all over her. One of the kids had a hold of her phone, and another was choking her, his arms wrapped around her neck in an attempt to dangle off of her like some sort of monkey bar.
You would’ve laughed at the sight if it didn’t look like Haewon was on the brink of actually getting taken out by a mass of children.
“Haewon?” You call out.
The smothered girl’s head whips towards the direction of your voice, though she struggled to exactly spot you as one of the little girls started to cover her eyes very aggressively as she begged for a turn to play with Haewon.
“Y-Y/n?” She squeaks out, gently shaking the climbing kids off her as she meets you at the fence, one of the kids in her arms as the rest of the kids flock after her. It almost looked like she was a mother duck with her little ducklings.
The child in her arms was holding a rolled up pillbug, and you find yourself incing away at the sight of the isopod, a bit deterred from bugs. “Hey,” Haewon simply greets, looking a bit exhausted, but you couldn’t tell if it was from the kids or the sight of you.
“Hey…” you greet back awkwardly, looking down at all of the kids by Haewons feet. You had no idea how old they were— honestly you had no idea how kids of specific ages were supposed to look like, but with how these kids were acting, you assumed they were possibly around kindergarten age?
Each and every kid had something very interesting to say.
“Haewon-unnie, can you please play pretend with us? We need a dog!!”
“Haewon-noona, look at this dead mantis I found!!”
“Haewon-unnie, who's that?? She's reaaallllyy pretty !! Can she play with us?”
“Yeah yeah!! Can she? Huh??”
Haewons face immediately flushes red as she uses her free hand to cover one of the little girl’s face in its entirety as she goes, “Hyunjoo, shush!”
You cover your mouth with your hand to hide the smile forming on your lips, “So… Is this what's stopping you from being able to meet today?”
An exasperated sigh escapes Haewons lips as she nods, “I can't leave until one of the workers or researchers on shift turns up and it's been like an hour and nobody has shown.”
A small frown tugs on your lips as you listen to what Haewon has to say, watching as multiple children tug at the hem of her shirt from every direction, and one was even trying to untie her shoe. Haewon looked.. Helpless, albeit a bit desperate as well. None of this was your problem really, worst case scenario you just had to do Haewon’s half of the work that was meant to be completed today. Yet you still find yourself looking between the overwhelmed Haewon and the kids and feel a sense of familiarity towards the circumstance… You can't believe you were doing this.
“I.. Can probably help you out until someone arrives.”
Haewons eyes widen as the kid in her arms tries to feed her the pillbug, in which she arches her head away as she speaks, “Really? I wont be messing up your perfectly punctual schedule you have for today? I bet you had to make some sacrifices to come here.” She teases near the end of her sentence, and you feel your face heating up once again.
“I don't….!” You exhale, “Have a schedule…” You lie through your gritted teeth before shaking your head, “Look, do you want my help or not? The sooner we get this done, the sooner we can get back to–”
“The project, yeah yeah I know. That's all it is with you, isn't it?”
Offended, you open your mouth to retort until Haewon opens up the fence gate to allow you in, immediately sending around two or three children your way, tugging at your hands, shirt, and pant legs as they guide you inside.
“Don’t be too rough with her, guys!”
For the next hour or so, you had learned a lot whilst working with the children at the lab.
For starters, you had learned that Hyunjoo had a crush on Jeonghyun last week, but now has a crush on Hwan after Jeonghyun accidentally spilt grape juice on her dress. Also, Bora and Somin are best friends, but only one of them got invited to Kiwoo’s birthday party on Saturday, so there's some unresolved tension in the air.
Alongside the lives of these children at the facility, you also learned a bit about Haewon.
“Yeah, I spend my free time volunteering here when I don’t have class. There's not a lot of teachers here who research, and there's even less students majoring in child education or anywhere else in a similar, so I figured it’d be nice to help out while my schedule is still free,” Haewon says while sat down in a comically small chair, watching as a small girl pours muddy dirt water from a toy teapot into her even tinier toy teacup.
“A lot of parents within the town need a place to drop their kids off while they work their usual nine to fives, and the children's education department needs all the help it can get. Sometimes I skip class to cover shifts just so these kids aren't alone… And sometimes I just skip because I’m hungover,” she chuckles.
You feel your heart melt a bit at Haewon’s words as you hold one end of a jump rope, aiding the two girls from before in their game. Haewon was actually… Sweet? At least with kids. They all seemed to naturally flock to her, and she had no problem talking and interacting with them in return. You on the other hand were a bit awkward with the kids, but it was alright because kids don’t think anything is awkward at this age. This wasn't the lazy, inconsiderate asshole you’ve been despising for the past year.
Staying silent, you nod as you simply listen to Haewon ramble on, sharing little tid bits and stories of her life you never would have heard otherwise.
“I tried to get my roommate, Jinsol, to join me one day and it went to actual shi– I mean, it went horribly,” Haewon corrected herself with a very indiscreet cough before continuing on, “They all ignored her! When she tried talking to them she made the kids cry. She didn't even do anything and they already didn't like her!” She laughs out as she makes her way to tend to another kid, a little boy latched onto her leg as she goofily limps her way across the playground.
“Still, I’m surprised they like you so much. You’re normally such a stick in the mud. Maybe the kids see something I don't.”
Furrowing your brows, you look back at Haewon, but she was already preoccupied trying to separate two boys that were trying to make beetles fight in a plastic bucket. See something she doesn't? What does she even mean by that?
The children had the both of you running around like headless chickens. A pair of girls wanted to play house with you two, and assigned you and Haewon as “mom” and “dad.” Needless to say, it was awkward, the first interactions between you and the shorter girl being rather stiff and tense– but you also learned that you are actually an incredible child actor once you got into it, and played the role of “mommy” perfectly in (all of) their eyes.
Another pair of boys wanted to use you and Haewon for a piggy back ride race. Apparently, being cooped up inside studying all of the time did not make you the most fit person, and Haewon quite literally left you and your piggyback partner in the dust. You couldn’t be mad about it though, she the kid looked happy.
In due time, a fellow university student finally arrived, apologizing profusely for the tardiness as Haewon simply waves her off, insisting it wasn’t a big deal and she wore out the kids to make things easier for the next shift.
The pair of you wave goodbye to the kids as you close the fence gate behind you, dusting off your hands as Haewon lets out a sigh of relief, taking a moment to relax and stretch as a cool breeze picks up. You decide to close your eyes and take in the peace as well. You don't know when was the last time you really did anything “fun” or even let loose for that matter. The kids were a lot, but it was refreshing. Different.
The sound of Haewons stomach growling breaks the comforting silence, and you open your eyes, looking at the shorter girl with a quirked brow.
“Have you not eaten yet?”
“Ahah… No.” She sheepishly comments, “Normally I grab something to bite between my shift and our study sesh on Wednesday, but I’ve been helping out for hours by now.”
Unexpectedly, a wave of concern washes over you as she speaks.
“It doesn’t matter though, let's find somewhere to finish up the last part of our project and we can finally leave each other alo–”
“You’re going to eat.” The words almost seemed foreign coming out of your mouth, or perhaps they felt that way because you were speaking them to Haewon.
Confused, Haewon stares at you as if you’ve grown a second head. “What?”
“You’re going to eat,” you repeat matter of factly, “You can't focus on the project if you’re hungry.”
Quickly tapping into your phone and looking into google maps, you were quickly able to find a restaurant nearby for the two of you to dine at.
“There's a restaurant about a 10 minute walk away from here. It closes at 7. We’re going.”
Before Haewon can even get a proper response out, you had already grabbed onto her wrist. You really didn’t want to think too hard about what you were doing… What are you even doing? Shaking your head, you drag her down the street, the bob haired girl nearly tripping on her own two feet before she falls in line next to you, just about as confused and unsure as you were.
⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚
The walk to the restaurant was… Fine. Albeit a bit awkward. Haewon wasn’t really expecting you to take her somewhere to do anything but study, and you weren't really expecting yourself to do that either. Apparently Haewon was the type to strike up conversation when things become awkward– unfortunately for the both of you, you were the complete opposite. So for the next 10 minutes, Haewon would make some off comment and you would simply mumble or hum in response.
Soon enough the two of you arrive at the restaurant and its definitely more on the high-end side. Dark yet warm mood lighting illuminated the interior, and the pair of you were seated near a quiet corner of the establishment, a charming bell shaped light hovering above the two of you as you blink. This setup was a bit more… Romantic, than expected; but if the food was as good as the place looked, you decide it was worth looking past.
You were handed menus as well as lemon water, and you peek over the paper to look at the girl across from you.
“Order whatever you want, I'll pay.”
A dry laugh escapes Haewons lips as she places the menu back down on the table, “oh no you’re not.”
Her response catches you off guard, and it 100% was shown in the contortions on your face. You were certain she would have jumped on the opportunity for free food. This girl was simply full of surprises, wasn't she?
“You helped me out today with the kids, I’m paying you back like the gentlewoman I am.” Haewon’s statement was firm, but you were stubborn.
“Oh yeah? With what money?”
“Hey!! I work for my money! You don't know me as well as you think you do, y/n.”
“Uh huh… so tell me then. Who is the true Oh Haewon?”
After placing your orders (you had gotten malatang while Haewon very stubbornly got herself an order of galbi and a strawberry lemonade) Haewon props her elbows on the table, resting her chin on her hands as she smirks, “what do you want to know?”
You guys then proceeded to spend the next two hours eating and chatting. Turns out Haewon wasn't all too bad company when she wasn’t existing to purely spite you. Haewon shared many interesting things about herself, like how she actually doesn’t like drinking at the endless networking parties she attends, or how she was actually fluent in spanish, or how she had no idea what she wanted to do the first year of college, but ended up transferring into business because it was the only thing that simply clicked for her. After some pressure, she even caved in, reluctantly admitting to be… Envious of you?
“Me??”
“Uh, yeah! I mean I do well in my classes and stuff, but you practically reek of academic perfection— it's actually kind of sickening,” she snorts, taking a bite into the meat on her plate as you roll your eyes. “You’re basically every professors favorite ideal student.”
“Me?? The favorite??” You scoff, “I thought you were the favorite! You act out and talk about anything in class and the professors still love you regardless! You get nearly perfect grades on every exam and have a million friends in every department, you don’t even have to try!”
“Seriously? No way. I know I'm funny and all, but I know the professors are disappointed I wasn't involved with any extracurriculars or anything. Probably think I'm wasted potential.”
“Well I know for sure they were concerned I have like, no friends or connections. That's wasted potential.”
“Wait— do you think—“
A moment of realization hits both of you like a truck.
“Ohhhh… that's why professor Wang paired us up.”
“Yup.”
A short pause passes between the two before you snort, holding back a laugh as Haewon giggles, running a free hand through her hair as she shakes her head, “That's so dumb…”
Allowing a comfortable silence to pass, you finish up your food. It was good, and you kept your eyes out for the server to approach so you could pay. Haewon had excused herself to the bathroom, and you paid no mind to it as you absentmindedly scroll through your phone, remaining attentive to your surroundings as you do so.
After a few minutes, Haewon returns, a very untrustworthy smile curled on her lips as you squint at the sight. What is she trying to get at?
“Alright, let's head out!”
You look up at Haewon from your seat in confusion, “but I didnt pa—“
That familiar smug grin was plastered on Haewon’s face again. “I paid for it already.”
“What?! How? When?”
“I didn’t actually use the bathroom.” She snickers while leaning on the table, arms crossed in satisfaction.
Haewon seemed to have more manners than you expected as well, it seemed. She beat you at your own game, as she always seems to do. You’re left there shocked for what felt like a whole minute before you shake your head, chuckling dryly as you get out of your seat.
“Okay Oh Haewon, you win this time. Let's go.”
Haewon wiggles her eyebrows teasingly as she follows you out the doors, “‘this time,’ huh? Are you implying there will be a second time?”
You raise your hand to silence the shorter girl, and she can't help but laugh at the gesture. You bite your lip to hold back your own laughter, but a silent puff of air still manages to escape your feeble attempts.
Her eyes light up as she notices this. “Aha! I saw that! Come on now, y/n. Why are you holding back on me? What? Are you afraid to show any signs you might like me a little now?”
Under normal circumstances, you’d find yourself seething with rage at the other girl's comments. You’d think to yourself: who was she to poke fun at you? She's nothing but rude, childish, and every other insult above. Under normal circumstances, you wouldn’t be allowing yourself to laugh freely into the air, the sky above you and Haewon slowly morphing from blue to orange as you finally release all of the tension pent up within you.
But this wasn’t a normal circumstance. You honestly had no idea how you even really ended up here to be honest. You were supposed to be at home by now, typing away at yet another project for some big club or company in your large sea of responsibilities. Instead, you find yourself walking down the sidewalk on the outskirts of campus with no other than Oh Haewon, your (now seemingly one sided) academic rival, laughing away, and actually thoroughly enjoying her company.
The pair of you find yourselves back at the lab, but the air was quiet this time, the stars above beginning to emerge from the blanket of night. You lean your back back on the fence, arms propped up behind you as you look back at Haewon as she stands in front of you. You weren't that much taller than her, maybe by an inch or so, but the fact that she had to crane her neck ever so slightly in order to make eye contact with you gave you a teeny tiny ego boost.
You can’t believe you were smiling right now, and it was because of the girl in front of you. “Y’know, I thought I had you pegged, but turns out I was wrong. You’re not all too bad when you decide to be.”
Haewon grins playfully back at you, absentmindedly fiddling with her fingers as she nods, “You’re not as prissy and snobby as I thought you were either.”
You simply hum in response, taking a moment to look back up at the stars scattered throughout the sky. If you didn’t go out tonight, you would've missed all of this. You can't remember the last time you actually took a moment to enjoy the night. It was beautiful.
“So… About this ‘next time’ you mentioned…”
Your gaze shifts back down to Haewon, and you notice she's inched closer. Smiling, you remain leaning on the fence, undeterred. “What about it?”
“Don’t play dumb with me, y/n. Are you saying you want to see me again even after this project is done?”
It's finally your turn to be smug. “And what if I am?”
Haewon is caught off guard. “...Then… I would also like that.”
Your smile softens as you take one of her hands in yours. Haewon’s hands were surprisingly small, and also quite soft. You slowly raise it to your lips and plant a soft kiss on the back of it, letting the feeling linger for a moment before pulling away, still holding her hand in yours as you look at Haewon. Her pale skin turns bright red for the second time today. A soft laugh leaves your lips at the sight.
“Cute.”
Unfortunately, your romantic gestures are met with a punch to your side and a flustered groan as Haewon twirls around in an attempt to hide her face. “You really are annoying, you know that?!” She exclaims, already walking in the opposite direction as you chuckle. When was the last time you had fun like this?
“So. Same time next week?” You call out, and you’re very charmingly met with a childish middle finger stuck into the air. With that gesture alone, you already know she’ll make it to the next project meeting right on time.

I wanted to ask if you could clear this up for me, if you play in third semester and you get to Maruki's Reality, we see Akechi appear to turn himself in on Christmas Eve so, Im not sure exactly why we dont see him do so when you go back to The True Reality? what was the reason for it, Im not clear on it a bits
Hi! In short, Atlus want to maintain the mystery of whether Akechi is canonically dead or alive. Thanks for your question!
... okay, okay. More seriously, Akechi arriving on Christmas Eve is the first use we see Maruki make of his enhanced power. Akechi is present in Shibuya to take the rap for Ren because Maruki puts him there. So when that is later undone, Akechi is no longer there—and Ren was arrested and detained, all along. Just as he was in the vanilla game.
but doesn't maruki's reality start on 12/31?
We-ell... kind of. As he says in his 1/1 journal entry, Maruki finally merges Mementos with reality late on 12/31, when Ren has his dream about the butterfly. But he's already using his new power before that point, to do nice things for his friends, the Phantom Thieves.
It's not just Akechi in Shibuya. The Christmas Eve party in Royal is very different from its counterpart in vanilla—well, sure. Ren's not in detention, so the whole mood is different. They talk about Akechi, but then they just move on to have fun. Well, it is Christmas.
But the New Year's party is a strange sequence of pleasant events. Futaba calls it "an actual, real-life good ending"! We hear not just that Ren's conviction is likely to be overturned, but that Shido is to be prosecuted for the crimes he confessed. In February, of course, Sae will tell us that it took months just to document his confession, and that he's being prosecuted only for breaches of electoral and funding law.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Something else to note about the Royal Christmas and New Year events: to my ear, they have a glib, superficial tone. Don't you think so? Matters of import come up, but the team move past them, to talk about trivialities, about their party and the fun they're having. It's kind of nice; this is who they might have been without the weight of responsibility, of grief. But equally, that weight should be there.
This is illustrated in the script. Both events feature a long string of sound effect emotes:
Tumblr media
These SE lines are never translated, but what you see here is Joker, Ryuji, and Ann laughing—waraigoe, the sound of laughter, literally "a laughing voice". This laugh, on New Year's Eve, continues through the whole group, not just the Phantom Thieves but also Sojiro and even Sae.
Coincidence? There are group laughs later, after Joker is released, and at the big confidant party. But those are just attributed to 全員 zen'in ("everybody"), or 一同 ichidou ("all present"). These lists of identical laugh lines at the start of Maruki's reality are just a little bit unnerving. By the time of Maruki's bad ending, those brief lapses into reality, with all of its unpleasantness, are gone.
So yes, in small ways, Maruki is using his power even before he merges Mementos with reality late on 12/31. And here's one last thing to pay attention to on 12/24. You know how Maruki alters reality itself, by altering people—by changing everyone's cognition so that the world agrees on its new nature? Watch Sae, during this scene.
She's surprised, sure—but she never seems surprised that Akechi is alive. She's just surprised that he's turning himself in. In the vanilla scene, on the other hand, she explicitly says that Akechi is missing. Ren can bring up that Akechi is back from the dead, but Sae doesn't seem to care!
Wheels within wheels.
so where's akechi in the "real" timeline?
Can of worms. Which "real timeline"? There are two, depending on whether or not you maxed Akechi's confidant. In the vanilla timeline, you don't get him to rank 8 before the engine room, and he dies behind the door. But in the Royal timeline, you do get him to rank 8, and you keep your promise, and that gives Akechi the will to live.
(Yes, this is what I currently believe. And more than that, I think it's the true meaning of that creator interview, "the player's feelings are equivalent to the protagonist's cognition". It doesn't mean that guy on the platform can be a randomer in his school uniform or a ghost!—it means there's one route where he's dead, and one where he's alive.)
In the game as released, we don't know where Akechi is. But in his February deleted scene—where he's clearly alive—he tells us where he was, for precisely this reason.
Tumblr media
He wasn't in Shibuya at all. He was at this refuge, wherever it is, going into hiding. He wasn't around to save Ren.
If this scene had been left in, this would have been the moment Akechi came out of safety, out of hiding, and gave up on his life—to do what's right once more, to confirm his 12/24 decision, and face justice in Ren's place. If you think Maruki altered him, and he would never have turned himself in otherwise—watch this scene again. Yeah, we were robbed.
what else does akechi say?
On 2/2, Akechi tells us how it happened:
Tumblr media
Let's take a quick look at that line in Japanese:
Akechi けど、君たちと戦ったあと⋯{F1 82}ともう一度会うまで僕の中にハッキリした記憶はなかった。 kedo, kimi-tachi to tatakatta ato... [Ren] to mou ichido au made boku no naka ni hakkiri shita kioku wa nakatta But after I fought against you all, I had a gap in my memory that ended with meeting up with [Ren] again. [lit. But, after I fought with you and the others… until I met back up with [Ren], I had no clear memories.]
hakkiri shita—"clear; distinct; vivid; plain; explicit; well-defined; sharp; loud and clear". hakkiri to kioku shiteiru—"to remember clearly". hakkiri shinai kioku—"unclear memories". hakkiri shita kioku—"clear memories".
Note that well. Akechi is not saying that he remembers nothing. He's saying he remembers nothing clear, which is substantively different, and not conveyed well by the English "a gap in my memory".
(He also switches address mid-sentence—in the first half of the line, he's addressing Ren as kimi ("you"), but then he cuts off, and addresses him as Ren. It looks like he switches from talking directly to Ren to talking to Maruki. And if you remember him being a dick about that moment on 1/2... this might be the line that reveals that actually, yeah, their promise in the engine room really did matter to him.)
Akechi believes he's dead on 2/2; I think there can be no question of that. There isn't a big reveal that he was alive all the time. And you can't even get this scene if you didn't max his confidant, if you didn't keep the promise—if Akechi didn't survive.
But there is an afterlife in the Persona universe, from which characters have even spoken—so I'd like to hear a little more, some day, about these "unclear memories" of his.
but how can he be alive
Bear in mind that the third semester looks identical (besides that engine room flashback on 1/2), regardless of whether or not you maxed Akechi's confidant. That's to say, whether Akechi dies in the engine room or not, the third semester does not change.
That means that everyone's perceptions of it cannot change. That includes Akechi. If he was dead and Maruki revived him, then he has no memories before he awakens in Shibuya, because he was dead. But if he wasn't dead—if he was at the refuge we see him at in the deleted scene, or in Hawaii, or on the Moon—if Maruki believes that he was dead, and attempts to revive him based on that conviction—
Well, then he creates a world where Goro Akechi died behind those shutters, doesn't he? A world where Akechi remembers nothing before he awakens in Shibuya, because now he was dead for those weeks. A world where, even though you saved him, Akechi died in the engine room. Just like in the vanilla timeline.
