Mark bent down to pick up the ring. What the fuck?, he thought, what the actual entire fuck? He turned the ring over in his hands, noting a small engraving on the inside of the ring: Love You Forever. Mark might actually be going into shock. No fucking way had Sebastian just proposed to him through the romantic medium of eating all his chocolate (again) and leaving an engagement ring as an IOU.

My poor English cannot describe how much I adore the title like it expressed the context and Charles' feelings sooo well. I felt the peacefulness and caught on an sensational hunch throughout my reading. Very recommend for when you wanna escape tough life out there.

He doesn’t say Multi 2-1, but they both know it’s what he means. Once upon a time a statement like that would have made Mark seethe with rage, but now it just makes him laugh and pounce at Seb, grabbing him in a bear hug and lifting him off the ground with a playful growl. “Ah! Mark!” Seb shrieks, “Mark! No, put me down! I’m innocent!” He shakes Seb around playfully, ignoring the clang of the tin as it hits the ground and peppering his face with kisses, “Stop.” kiss “Eating.” kiss “My.” kiss “Chocolate.” kiss.   Seb is giggling like a maniac, pretending to try and escape from Mark’s embrace as his feet finally touch back down to earth.

His eyes follow Oscar as he bends down to pick something up, his back muscles flexing and accentuating where Carlos left his marks behind.  But Carlos is unable to appreciate it. He is transfixed by the thing Oscar picks up. It's Carlos’ clothes. The 55 displayed proudly on the fireproofs. But there's something wrong with them. Only when Oscar puts them on does he notice that they are red. Weren’t they blue before? Oscar doesn’t seem to notice, nor does he seem to care. He takes one last look at him that Carlos can’t decipher. Unlocks the door and walks out, leaving Carlos behind to bleed out.

what are your favorite martian fics? (or just f1 recs in general if you’d like?) i really love your take on the markseb dynamic!! the one snippet you posted is absoutely godtierrr hope u have a great night/day!

Hii aahhh!! Martian is such a great ship to write for because they inhabit this twilight zone where their undeniable chemistry and the conscious, continuous choice they made to love each other after everything makes them the pinnacle of all slow-burn romances.

Yet, when looking at their Red Bull years alone they are that's compelling because they are doomed from the start, the perfect narrative foils that distill each other into their raw components of ego and need and want. They make each other painfully human and that is not a good thing in this story.

Not to hype up a wip, but maybe my favourite project I'm currently working on is a martian fic set during the 2010 season that tells the story of Mark's ego death; brought under Red bull's institutional yoke and sacrificed upon the altar of Sebastian's championship ambitions.

It's also where that snippet comes from ;) So it's very encouraging to hear that you've liked what you've read thus far.

THIS!! GODDAMN!! FIC!! RAAAGGHHH! Not only is it my favourite martian fic, it is also one of my favourite fics I have ever read across the decade that I have been in fandom.

It's an a/b/o fic with alpha!seb and omega!mark in which Mark is forcefully brought back into the world of F1 after his retirement when Sebastian discovers that since Mark left, he has been hiding the child they conceived together the night of Mark's last race.

My summary doesn't do it justice but I swear on a god that I don't believe in that everything from the world-building to the development of Mark's and Seb's relationship as they find their way back to each other through years of misunderstanding and soceital decree is simply put, spectacular.

It just gets everything right for me and no matter how many times I reread it, I am just as enthralled as I was the first time.

I am also, as you will notice with my other recs, a major sucker for fics where Mark is one being looked after. Especially when Seb is being possessive about looking after him.

This is a really sweet non-linear imagining of Mark and Seb's relationship told from Seb's perspective as he spends a lifetime falling in love with Mark. It also handles the give and take of Sebastian's want for Mark and want for F1 success through the lens of Sebastian already knowing what he was going to do during Multi21, which adds a fascinating layer of complexity to examining how Seb might‘ve handled the fallout.

This fic is hard read because it does such a superb job at handling Mark's stubbornness and pride even when it puts him at great personal risk. Also told from Seb's perspective it really highlights how devastating Mark's martyr complex can be.
