Time to meet the guest
tw: (maybe) creepy content?..
You working your night shift in the anticafe. Nothing unusial, right? You are working here almost six month and think that you've already seen everything. Some dramas with questionable lovelines, creepy high guys who never take no as an answer, just some strange persons... You're getting used to it, not even scared when fire alarm screaming about some smoke.
But this time... Something is not right here, you know it. But no matter how many times you're trying to find the reason, it's just you in the empty hall.
Is it just your paranoia? Or maybe it's you and your worring about making your work fine?
I't about 4 am and you think you've already done everything you can. Your cleaning list is done for three times, tables are cleaned for a year fovard, but something is still wrong. You looking at curtains and you understand - you still need to wipe the window sills! Of course! You're happyly sigs ang going to make your rag wet again. Now everything should be okey...
Cafe's dishwasher notifies about the end of the cycle, making you freeze for a second. You know that you should take dishes away later, but right now not that making you worried. You feeling goosebumps on your skin when you slowly lookin up at the man just behind the window. He smiling at you, saying somethind. You cannot hear that, window is closed, but you don't want to anyway. Was he... no he WAS the one, whose eyes you felt on yourself.
As slow you were looking up at him, he stands up and going away. You want to think that he won't come back, but you know that's not true. The doorphone requires an answer.
It's time to meet the guest.

Even for Manchester it's a beautiful night. Clear, with a density to the air. You can see the stars even in the city.
Not that Jibreel looks up. He, the angel, walks in step with the saint, set on looking where the saint looks.
Midnight Café. It's actually a kebab house, patrons, drunk, singing Sweet Caroline. There is another blonde, a potwash in the back, you can see them ending a phone call through the porthole. Dressed to match Jibreel, not in color but in style: the language that spells out whether or not one belongs.
Among the many things still in purgatorial stasis as chaos wracks the world is the building of an official embassy for the forces of heaven. Jibreel was it - this was it - the whispers and the response.
They find a clean surface and a sense of solitude. They sit, the condiment tray between them like a line in the sand...it becomes clear that this is going to be one of those transitions marked by a nebulous lack of ceremony.
His smile is fond, steady. "How's life?"

Spent three hours in the office today and I kind of want to die. We weren't meant to live like this.

i am so resigned to the fandom constantly hating on the Foggy Swamp that my immediate response to seeing it picked as a would go place was to feel intense relief and think to myself 'OH THANK GOD SOMEONE WITH TASTE'
GOD RIGHT people really love to hate on the Foggy Swamp! I don't get it, that place ROCKS!!!

Also- Shoutout to the awesome Jem t-shrit.
Watch this to learn how to put down toxic masculinity and internalized misogyny. As with “the kids these days are terrible” beginning circa prehistory (thanks Plato) this points to “men aren’t masculine anymore” and tracks it backward.
I keep saying nothing ever changes to those who know history.

the funniest part of any Robin meeting the JL is that every Robin is so distinctly different from the previous one in terms of personality and vibes that the league literally gets backlash. and like, I don't blame them. not to mention that they are non-meta children that dress as a traffic light and fight crime alongside batman in gotham on a nightly basis. i'd also be a bit concerned. Batman, literally The Night of Gotham personified in the League's eyes, coming into a JL meeting: This is Robin, my crime-fighting partner. 11-year-old Dick Grayson, dressed in the brightest primary colours possible, vaguely hidden murder behind those eyes, never stops moving even for a moment: Hi! Superman: That's a child. That's-- Bats that is a child. You let a child--? Batman, deadpan: You try to stop him. Would you rather he try and murder a grown man with a wire?
Batman: This is Robin. 12-year-old Jason Todd, with the biggest grin on his face, about 3 books in his hand, stars in his eyes and a distinct street-kid drawl: Hey!!! Green Lantern: That's ... that's a different child. What?? Jason: I stole his tires :) Batman: Tried to. Jason, stage whispering to the League: basically did. Green Lantern: that is a different kid, right?? I'm not seeing shit??
Batman: This is Robin. 14-year-old Tim Drake, bo staff clutched in his hand, a wary and tired expression on his face, more on the quiet side, the literal walking definition of don't judge a book by it's cover: hello Flash: Where do you even find these-- Tim: I found myself.
Batman: This is Robin. 17-year-old Stephanie Brown, literally blonde, with a shit-eating grin, eyes full of nothing but mischief and the most explosive personality you've ever seen: hiya!! Superman: I give up. Stephanie: I know, I have that amazing effect on people.
Batman: This is Robin. 13-year-old Damian Wayne, a literal wet cat that will hiss at you, has a sword, the most judgemental stare you'll get from a teenager, ready to jump anyone there: Green Lantern: WHY DOES HE HAVE A SWORD?! Batman: ... he came with the sword.

the tradwife movement is the same as it has always been - back in the kitchen, back to breeding - it just has better branding.
when i was younger, i hated pink. i was not like other girls. this is now something i'm embarrassed of - this was not me being a "girl's girl."
but it was expressing something many of us felt at the time: i literally wasn't what girlhood was supposed to be. this is a hard thing to explain, but you know when you're not performing girlhood correctly. it isn't as easy as "i liked x when girls liked y" - because there were other girls that liked x, too - but i never figured out exactly the correct way to like x, or to be interested in y.
now there is the divine feminine. this is the same rhetoric it has always been: women are biologically driven to like pink and ribbons and submitting to our husbands.
the problem is that the patriarchy found a better PR team. because yes, actually, i want every woman to have the choice to be a homemaker. i also want her taken seriously for her legitimate home-making labor. i want her to be recognized as also having a job, just unpaid. i want men to have this opportunity, too.
but it is no longer "i made this choice and I love it." instead it is a sixteen-paragraph rant about how selfish it is that my generation isn't having kids. instead it's long videos about how if you feed your children processed foods, you're going to kill them. instead it is "this is what womanhood is supposed to be. i feel bad for any other choices you're making."
the shame spiral is just prettier. it is large houses devoid of personality. it is the implication: if you don't have this, you aren't happy. the solid, everlasting assurance: women are actually supposed to be submitting. this is the default. this is the natural state of things. all other attempts inflict suffering.
but you can no longer say i'm not like other girls. you can no longer reject this image completely. you cannot find it revolting, even if you know that the underbelly is toxic and festering. sure, it is the same repackaged patriarchy. but the internet does not have shades of grey. you should support and reward other women! your disgust is actually internalized misogyny. not because you are seeing a vision of yourself the way they're trying to train you to be. not because you feel her ghost pass within an inch of your earlobe. not because your father will eventually ask you - why can't you be like her?
because they figured out how to make it beautiful: women will sell other women on this idea, and we will find the singular loophole in feminism. sure, she's shaming you in most of her videos. sure, she implies that a different life is obscene. but she just wants you to be happy! you'd be happier if you were listening!
and the whole time you're sitting there thinking: i'd actually just be happier if i had that kind of money.

soooo much of the modern conception of gender is based around products and consumerism that people can’t even identify actual misogyny anymore. People reply to posts “It’s sexist to hate on something so many women enjoy” and that something would be a Stanley cup
