DAY 2 - Alternative Universe (The Road To El Dorado AU!!)

Treasure Hunt in Space AU - Sonic and his friends are on a journey to find mysterious and powerful gems, but things get really weird when they find something unexpected instead.

(I'm v unsure what I want to do with it, it was going to be just a few sketches but turned out into comic strips, whoops)

Treasure hunt, finding things around you

Here's an assignment, only for anyone who feels like doing it. In the month ahead, by the start of February, find as many of these things as you can or choose to. Photos or not photos as you prefer. These aren't to be submitted to me but are just a kind of treasure hunt for you to write down or keep in a notes app. 1. Moss, as many kinds as you can find. 2. Lichen, 3 colors. This is fun because it can be on buildings and things like curbs, grave stones or monuments. 3. 3 or more kinds of birds, extra points for different types like songbirds vs. ducks and geese vs herons or other stalking birds. Yes, pigeons count. 4. 3 kinds of trees you can tell apart, evergreens or ones that are leafless now.

5. One beautiful sunrise or sunset. 6. If you're in a place that gets cold, 2 kinds of ice, like icicles and puddle ice would be 2 kinds for example. If you're not in a cold place then interesting water things like a puddle with oil colors in it or drops of dew on grass or a flower. 7. 3 kinds of weather. This one's easy. Maybe pictures of a sunny or partly cloudy sky and a dark cloudy sky and maybe a picture of trees or flags being blown by wind.

8. Any animals. They're things like Pokemon but in the real world. lol Yes squirrels count. Rats do too. 9. Stand in 3 kinds of places, for example by a stream or river, high on a hill—that can be in a city or in the country. Pittsburgh for example has some great hills. San Francisco too. If you're at Oberlin maybe you can find a pile of dirt haha—and third, maybe a public space like a plaza or a town circle or if you're in the country then just an especially nice spot along a road or trail. 10. Finally, look for any especially nice or beautiful scene around you, whether it's frost on a plant in the sunlight, a beautiful window you pass in the evening (taking pictures of people without permission especially through a window is rude so try to avoid that), ice on a car window or any scene or tiny thing that just catches your eye in a pleasing way. A beautiful tree, a beautiful sky, a cute cat, whatever.

And of course if you find cool or interesting stuff not mentioned here, that's extra credit. :-) If you see something really good you can tell me about it and if you feel like letting me know how it went at the end I would be interested to hear from you. I know some of you already look for this stuff. Take this as a little extra encouragement. Maybe when you post things from this list, use the tag #noticing stuff. Or does someone have a better tag for it?

"Anything yet?" Megumi blinks to hear this but he looks from his cell phone. He didn't know what was going on, giving the thought that something might have happened. Gojo was told Kisho still was on his on going mission to find the cursed items that came from that party. However, it leaves another wondering what was going on. He did have some help along the way so it was something.

Right now, Megumi was told by Gojo to check on him but he was not answering the text messages he sent a while ago. "I don't think so. I can try to call him and see if he can answer the phone instead. Or maybe something is effecting the signal."

"I guess that's possible but give it a shot." Yuji said. Megumi nods and goes to do that, seeing Kisho's number and hits speed dial and waits for him to find something.

"I'm sure they are fine you two..just call them and we will see their fine." Nobara said. Miko agrees hoping they were alright. She wanted to go with them but she was still on stand by to recover.

"S..same here..." she mutters seeing Megumi still waiting for Kisho to pick up.

This is why the bit of undramatized backstory I’m most burningly curious about is probably Flint & Gates. How did they become genuine friends. (And at a time when Flint - who is a ten-time gold medalist in Not Making Friends - was presumably at his most wounded and walled-off and feral, to boot?) What made Hal so loyal to him. How did Flint also lowkey decide that Hal was his pirate dad. Is Hal even remotely aware that he’s been cast in the role of Flint’s pirate dad. Is Flint even self-aware about casting Hal in the role of his pirate dad, or is this all writhing sea serpents living in the here-be-dragons zone of his traumatized subconscious

months ago i got this anon ask about how we don't really see buck be his earnestly dorky, silly, comical self with his love interests much. how we see him with all his quirks like his brattiness, his obliviousness, his high-handedness, his superstitions, his fun facts etc. only when he's with the firefam, and how we only see the firefam really reacting to it and playing off of it. and how this is an intimate layer that lacks in his romantic arcs. anyway, a big win for bucktommy.

Dungeon: The Spine of Ol'Syd

Laid low by the sacrifice of a great hero of the past age, the bones of the dragon Sydragul have become a monument to the vibrancy and prosperity that can follow after hopeless and calamity.

Such is the case for the nearby village of Flamesfallow, which presides over a stretch of territory that was turned to an ashbarren by the dragon's breath and has since become very fertile farmland. There's a small cottage industry of Flamesfallow of recounting of the hero's deeds and death, to say nothing of guiding tourists to see the fearsome landmark and offering polished rocks "shards of dragonbone" at a fair price.

Adventure Hooks:

Selvic, the lord of Flamesfallow is the very model of an envious second son. While his older brother Selvin got to leverage the family's wealth to marry the local Marquess, Selvic is stuck managing the land that provides that wealth for the rest of his life. With nearly everything passing to the eldest upon their parents death, Selvic has become obsessed in outstaging his brother by finding the hero's sword, said to have been lost after he allowed himself to be swallowed so he could stab at its heart. He's willing to pay the party a handsome finder's fee... with the understanding that he'll brand them outlaws in breach of contract if they manage to claim the blade and fail to return it to him.

Any alchemist could tell you that the flesh and blood of a dragon have some odd alchemical properties, and after Sydragul began to rot an uptick in dire mutations began to appear in the local wildlife. Even generations on from the scavengers' feeding frenzy these variants persist, with raven-drakes haunting the peaks and firebreathing cinderwolves among the most notable of the hazards haunting the local roads.

Strange rumours begin to circulate around Flamesfallow that the dragon might not be dead after all. How else to explain the embers that folk say you can see in the beast's eyesockets at night, or the smoke that rises from between its ribs on days when the wind is still? In actuality, a group of outcasts have taken up residence in the great skeleton, and have been mining a seam of precious gemstones that opened up in the mountainside when the dragon impacted it. Knowing that the seam technically belongs to the local lord by feudal right, they're willing to kill if the party stumbles across their operation in order to keep it a secret.
