Summary: Hyeongjun likes you and when you start to flirt or drop hints that you might like him back he becomes confused about what your intentions are.

Hyeongjun has had a crush on you since about two years ago, but was too nervous to confess to you. Plus he didn’t think that you liked him back either. At first he thought that you might, but after he introduced you to his members and saw that you interact the exact same way with them as you do with him, he lost all hope. He sells it to himself that he’s content with just having your friendship. That’s he is ok having you any way that he can, but he can’t completely ignore the part of him that is longing for something more with you. That way he won’t feel guilty about his hugs, hand holding and other forms of skinship being a bit more than platonic. 

“Hyeongjun, we should count shoulders,” you say. You and Hyeongjun are currently sitting on your couch having a movie night. 

“Count shoulders?” Hyeonjun said, perplexed. 

“Yeah, count shoulders. One.” You tapped your right shoulder with your left hand. “Two.” you tapped your left shoulder. “Three.” you tapped Hyeongjun’s right shoulder. “Four.” you tapped his left shoulder and now your arm was conveniently wrapped around him. Hyeongjun looked at you with a look of confusion and disbelief. You sent him a wink. 

“What’s wrong with you?” Hyeongjun laughed, turning away from your gaze. His heart was pathetically affected by the stunt you just pulled. Seriously, what was wrong with you? You never flirted like this with him before. He hopes that you can’t hear how loud his heart is pounding. 

“I saw it in a drama. It was so stupid that it made me love it and I wanted to try it. In the drama the guy did it to his girlfriend and you’re the closest I have to a boyfriend, so I decided to do it with you,” you explained. He was the closest you have to a boyfriend? What was that supposed to mean? The fact that your arm is still casually wrapped around him isn’t helping. 

“You’re right it’s stupid.” Is all his flustered brain can come up with saying. You chuckled at his response. 

“Yes, it’s stupid, but if you ever want to count shoulders. Mine are right here.” You placed either of your hands on your shoulder. Hyeongjun could not handle this and he was so confused about what has gotten into you all the sudden. 

Hyeongjun is not sure if it’s to his content or discontent that your flirting has not stopped. Anytime the two of you hangout you find some way to flirt with him. He feels like his heart is going to explode, but he also thinks that his mind might explode. He is so confused by this new behavior of yours. Do you like him back? Are you just having fun? Is this a new side of you that you just weren’t ready to show him before. Are you sleep deprived lately? He has no clue. Then he recalls the first time he thought that you might like him back and how that got squashed by seeing you interact with his members in the same way. Hyeongjun figured that he could invite you over to the dorm and see how you act with his members now. If you’re just as flirty with them then his hope of you liking him back will be crushed again, but if you don’t then..well he’s not quite sure yet what that would mean. He will figure that out later though right now he’s focused on inviting you to the dorm. 

Hyeongjun welcomed you into the dorm and before he could step aside to let you in you pulled him for a hug. 

“I missed you,” you said, pulling away. 

“Missed you two,” Hyeongjun let out, sounding slightly awkward. 

“Hey y/n you here,” Seungmin said as he entered the room.

“Yeah I am.” You approached Seungmin, Hyeonjun watches in anticipation. You don’t hug Seungmin though, only engage in some small talk. You didn’t hug any of the other members either. Hyeongjun dually noted this. He pays close attention to how you interact with all of his members and not once did you flirt with any of them. 

While all of you had lunch together you sat right beside Hyeongjun with your legs touching. Something that was necessary due to there being plenty of space around. You even gave and fed him some bites of your food. Which is something you only started doing recently and the first time you did it in front of his members. They too noticed your new behavior towards Hyeongjun, but they didn’t say anything. Especially when Hyeongjun gave you some bites of his own food in return. 

“Are you and y/n dating now?” Jungsu prompted. The members were all backing up after they had just finished practice for the day. 

“No, we’re not,” Hyeongjun answered. 

“Seriously? Then why is y/n acting so flirty or just like they’re clearly into you,” Jooyeon stated. 

“I don’t know either. They started being flirty and dropping hints that they might like me a few weeks ago, but I have no clue why or what it means. It’s kind of driving me crazy,” Hyeongjun revealed. 

“You like y/n don’t you?” Gunil asked.

“Yeah I do,” Hyeonngjun told. 

“Then you should talk to them about it. I’m pretty sure they like you back. Maybe they’re just too scared to confess, so they thought they would just drop hints until you caught on,” Seungmin voices. Was that what you were doing? Hyeongjun really had to talk to you.

Hyeongjun leaves practice and goes straight over to your place. His leg bounces anxiously as he waits for you to open the door. 

“Hey,” you smiled, opening the door to let Hyeongjun inside. 

“Hey, can we talk?” he asked. 

“Of course,” you replied. The two of you walked over to your couch taking a seat on it. Hyeongjun tried to think about how he should word this. You waited patiently for him to start talking. 

“Why have you been so flirty with me recently?” he finally spoke. All the confidence you had when you were flirting with him went out the window. You flirted with Hyeoungjun because you like him. You thought that the hints you dropped along with flirting would have made that clear. 

“Do you not like it? Does it bother you? I can stop.” With the loss of your confidence you feared that maybe you had been making Hyeongjun feel uncomfortable the entire time. You would feel awful if that was the case. 

“No. It’s not that I don’t like it. I was just wondering why you were doing it because…” Hyeongjun trailed off, becoming very nervous about the words he was about to say. After taking a deep breath he finished his sentence. “Because I like you. I have liked you for a long time. When you started flirting with me I felt like my heart was gonna beat out of my chest, but I was scared that maybe you didn’t like me back that you were just playing around or something,” he confessed. 

“I’m not playing around Hyeongjun. I like you too. I’m flirting with you because I like you,” you clarified. Hyeongjun couldn’t be more happy. 

“Do you want to go out then?” he proposed. 

“I’d love to,” you responded. Hyeongjun pulled you in for a hug. He felt like he was on cloud nine right now. 

“Oh wait, I want to try something now,” he says. 

“What?” you wondered. 

“Counting shoulders,” he smiled and so did you. “One.” He taps his left shoulder with his right hand. “Two.” He taps his right shoulder. “Three.” He taps your left shoulder. “Four.” He taps your right shoulder, having his arm now securely around you. After a moment the two of you break out into laughter. “It’s just too silly.” 

“It is, but I like it..and you.” You linked your hand with his that was resting on your shoulder. The two of you couldn’t be happier.
