So I started focusing on my boy glam freddy and what his lore would be. This is what I’ve got so far:

-This man has been through the shitter. He witnessed his father die in the hospital after committing, he is constantly abused mentally by the company to work harder and be a perfect celebrity figure.

-He was a child star/His family had the company until they all got into “accidents,” which resulted in him owning and becoming a star at the age of 13. This also damaged him mentally.

-He always loved singing until he was around the age of 17. He started to see it as what the company saw it as, pure profit. Thus leading to him to despising his voice. -He hates it when Monty talks down about himself and wishing he was the star, Monts thinks it’s because Freddy is prideful in his position but the truth is that he doesn’t want him to go through what he gets put through daily. That’s also why he wasn’t left the company. He knows Monty would replace him in an instance.

-Despite his constant torture, he loves performing for the children and tries to be a father figure towards them and anyone else who needs someone to talk to.

-My good sir is schizophrenic. Not a joke. He got it from his father (Toy Freddy, my AU!!), and he got it from his uncle (Afton/Springbonnie) due to some kind of poison.

-It’s definitely getting worse as he goes on, and slowly the gang starts to realize what going on with their boss. They begin to worry and recommend he finds help before it’s too late, but he brushes it off as ‘Guys, I’m fine! Don’t worry about me!,’ (Spoiler in second image..it gets worse😭).

-Vanny is not real. She is a figment of his imagination, but he believes she is after a little orphan boy named Toby McGregor (Gregory). So he does his best to protect him from her at all costs. Little does he know his efforts are for nothing, as he is fighting nothing…and protecting nothing.

-Also Freddy and Roxy are cousins, more on that later🫣

I've been a lot more quiet recently than I've wanted to, what with work and being out of town and all that, but I'm still super excited to jump into my favourite challenge!

disclaimer: i intend on finishing these fics so what im going to be talking about is inspirations and unfinished / abandoned ideas and other ideas i have for the works instead of anything relating to the plots themselves

for svadd, sj is a lot more complicated than he appears to be on the surface. im not so sure if what i have written currently is what i /want/ exactly because i know i want his character to go a certain way. the relationships between him and his modern-day friends is one meant to parallel the in-game "shen qingqiu" sj compares himself to and in much the same way, mirror the way that sy contrasts himself with sqq in canon: but instead of being condescending and viewing sqq as a one dimensional character, sj is able to appreciate his nuance while still being rightfully angry over his actions

to me, sj is supposed to be an unreliable narrator who constantly enforces his own thoughts. he tells himself over and over that he misses his home and that he wants to go back, that he absolutely needs to- but then, he turns the other way and finds himself being sucked even deeper into this different one.

i also really wanted to explore how sjs dynamic with a lot of the characters would be affected knowing that they were "based off" his real friends, but again im not very confident with how it came off lol

there was a lot of points in the story where i attempted to add in foreshadowing for the ending i want the story to take... in any case, it definitely wont go the same way as vadd, though i did toy with the idea of a "version" of sy being the main villain haha

(it might still happen for shits and giggles)

as for the roxanna au there are a lot of things ive wanted to do with this au and its good that i havent posted because it means i can keep revising til i come up with something good lol

its a liujiu au with some bingyuan / cumplane thrown into the mix (the cumplane is overwhelmingly toxic btw bingyuan is the healthy one out of the two here 😭) where yes sj is xana !!! he really just makes such a good manhwa villainess haha

i had been puzzling over what i wanted his motif to be-- after all, sj is typically associated with the simplicity and calming bamboo so the glittering butterflies wouldnt work with him- but after some deliberation i decided with using moths for him :3c still subject to change ofc but i think im happy with this as is

the story is somewhat similar to how roxanna goes but surprise sj isnt the transmigrator here! (and honestly, roxanna wouldve been sm better if xana hadnt been a transmigrator... or maybe i just think that because it was only used as a convenient plot point for her to know crucial info. sigh.)

my outline of how the roxanna au goes is basically this:

I think you're spot on, actually. Evan is really easy to underestimate but he's genuinely... not well when it comes to you. I think I mentioned it somewhere in an answer to an ask ages ago, but he actually has no issue with seriously hurting you for what he perceives to be "the greater good". That includes either taking a limb or shattering (and not properly mending) bone. Yes, he'll probably cry while he does it, will swear up and down that he hates doing this (and he does, he does) - but he has to do this. He's not the fun type of yandere. His little thing for you is kinda cute on the surface - until he has his first panic attack over you not answering your phone. (That is, if you two started dating 'the normal way'. Hah.) Personally, I think Micah is the worst out of the three, as well - simply because he has no issue with immediately resorting to violence. (And not with misguided motives like Evan, either.) Once he has you in a remote place and something isn't the way he wants it, I can actually see him getting physically abusive. We saw how he had no issue with shooting Maddy in Strawberry although she (probably) had hardly anything to do with that "unfinished business". I think running with Dutch kept him in check, reined him in. (He had to adhere to the rules of the gang, at least a little bit.) Another clue is Amos' letter to him - Amos being so scared for his family, his daughters, makes me think that Mister Bell is actually way worse than we've seen in the game. He already doesn't love you. You have your uses, yes, you're his - but fucking hell, you're a lot of fucking work, too. He has to keep you fed along with his brats and you're not even a pretty face to look at (to him. Now if we asked Arthur, that man would have married you immediately. But, as you know. Micah happened.) And maybe, that's the crux of this whole thing. There is no love here - there is with Evan and Bill. With them, if you were to completely give up one day, you'd have a (very controlled but) decent life, as far as the circumstances go. With Micah? Oh, you can try and try and try again, it will never be enough.

i honestly dont know myself. Strand kinda came outa nowhere and most ppl assumed Green = Soulfire/Corruption myself included (im not coping I'm not wailing at no Toxic/Corruption class😭😭)

I really wanted the poison subclass to match Thorn and Osteo and Necrotic Grip :(

But then again, it seems like Darkness subclasses are drawing from the same overall source and poison doesn't really fit. Both stasis and strand draw inspiration from real world phenomena and physics. There is a lot about stasis in the Witch Queen Collector's Edition in relation to entropy and quantum physics:

The Stasis crystals aren't water ice. Obvious enough, but I thought I'd get it out of the way. The extraordinary property of Stasis is its ability to create ordered structures from chaos—it doesn't care what kind of matter is available; it just sucks entropy out of the system until it's got a crystal. The crystal's not exactly chemical. The normal electromagnetic interactions between atoms are suppressed in favor of something weirder.

The actual structure of the crystal is... hard to characterize. The mass has some spooky quantum characteristics, behaving like a superfluid condensate complete with vortices, so it's hard to get information on specific areas—you get domains of the crystals behaving as single particles.

There's more in this particular passage and elsewhere in the CE, and it's all related to really complex physics and theories that go almost entirely beyond me after a certain point. But the common idea is the same; stasis is not ice, stasis is not just random element they chose, there is a theme about physics, entropy and origins of the universe.

Similarly, strand seems to be coming from a similar place. Specifically, string theory. Now, we don't know nearly enough about strand right now so this is all speculative, but the imagery and wording on strand stuff seems to be drawing inspiration from this:

In physics, string theory is a theoretical framework in which the point-like particles of particle physics are replaced by one-dimensional objects called strings. String theory describes how these strings propagate through space and interact with each other. On distance scales larger than the string scale, a string looks just like an ordinary particle, with its mass, charge, and other properties determined by the vibrational state of the string.

If this is indeed the theme of Darkness subclasses, and it definitely seems to be, I suspect the final Darkness subclass might be related to gravity. I would certainly hope so, as gravity is one of the most common forces related to Darkness and the primary force used by Darkness to do pretty much everything.

It's possible that gravity will remain just this fundamental force that is is, that governs all other forces that end up being Darkness subclasses (both stasis and strand also relate to gravity) so it won't be something we get to use. In that case, it could be some other physics-related concept that is closely tied to gravity.

I would personally love to get gravity though. It would probably be too big to be a subclass on its own so I suspect we'll get something tied to it, but damn. I would love me some gravity.

Tbh, Hana? Hana I was very much annoyed of at the first few parts of chapter 8, but it is understandable. Her character becomes more understandable as the story progressed but that doesn't mean she isn't a toxic bitch. THE SNAKE SHE IS FOR SPITTING VENOM ON YN XHJSNSJS (and the way y/n worries to Hyun after 🙈 thank you, Hana)

YONGBOK. Oh boy have we taken a turn. The air is green and poison laced for this toxic asshole 💀 bye, he's so manipulative and assuming. He makes his own mess about Hyun and then blames Y/N, like THEY CAN BE TOGETHER WITHOUT YOU. But as the reader ofc we see why he acted so toxic— which isn't an excuse !!!! But yeah, please how dare he ?? Especially when it isn't even about Hyunjin or/and Y/N and then he just casually makes up his mind that "Oh. Hyunjin wants her to himself and she lets him cause apparently she can't be friends with two people and still care about them the same amount."

I swear my heart shatters for Y/N. She's been manipulated all her life, following them around like the pushover she is 🙄 but like same. When she just accepted it was her fault and it'll always be hers omg 😭😭 and when they(best boys Hyun and Junnie) told her to stop apologizing when she clearly has no fault, my heart leaped.

When Felix left her in the chocolate factory (?) I was so angry, I started crying. She didn't do anything wrong and neither did Hyunjin??? I get he could be insecure but tp be a possessive asshole??? His mood swings makes me wanna eat my fist whole.
