It’s really tiring hearing so many complain about how there’s not enough violence or action in the show. Sure, these people don’t dive as deep as we do. They don’t listen to the podcast or look at the inside the episodes or look into the micro expressions in every scene and listen to the way certain lines are delivered or what have you. They haven’t heard Craig talk how it’s a love story or about why they toned down the violence so that, when violence does happen, it’s more impactful (ie QZ soldier, Bryan, sniper section, the guy at the university, and we know what’s to come in the last two episodes which I believe they’re saving the bulk of it for, iykyk).

But what I don’t get is people saying there’s too much talking and drama. Yeah, majority of the game is actually playing the game, and what ‘playing’ is is action and actually doing something, not being in constant conversation. That would make for a boring game if all it was was talking. I understand the notion of wanting more, considering the people who’ve played the game would want something like the game gives them. But it is a video game. That stuff is made extra and couldn’t happen irl, like listening mode?? Or Joel surviving his game injury?? Or the fact that none of it is real??

Even in the game, there’s still so much talking that goes on, even in gameplay. In those little conversations. Some being optional, some not. It’s not like talking isn’t a thing. It’s not like drama is nonexistent.

But this game, this story, is a drama. In a way it is for me, at least. It’s about Joel and Ellie. It’s about love in the midst of an incredibly broken and terrifying world. It’s about these two people finding each other and being the parts of each other the other needed. Even parts like the cache of guns (car battery in show) is still drama. Having to smuggle Ellie. Even the fireflies are drama in their own sense. Ellie finding her worth in her immunity. Joel trying to get rid of Ellie. Joel and Ellie’s growth into father and daughter. Something like that isn’t just the flip of a switch. Things actually have to happen, and those ‘things’ aren’t violence; its bonding on their journey together. The main themes in the show are drama between characters and the fate of the world as they know it. It really is the whole point.

They’ve balanced and adapted the show very well, I think. And to hear a lot of these people saying “it’s not faithful!!” Or “there’s too much talking!!” Is getting annoying. You want a faithful adaptation? Good luck, cause I think every other video game adaptation has been shit on. As for not liking the amount of talking and not enough violence, go play Dark Souls or Assassins Creed to fuel your need for murder. We will not wait for you to come back

i have lots of flaws but i do at least take a fair amount of comfort knowing that, if i were a customer NPC in a fast food/retail management game, i would be one of the chill early-level ones that can wait a super long time before they start getting impatient, and you breathe a sigh of a relief when you see them show up in a harder level

"we need to get uncomfortable!" and what's actually being discussed is convincing a subset of the community to be uncomfortable on your behalf while you do nothing to show solidarity with us

Danny should absolutely rip on the Flashes

Realistically, Danny meeting the flashes and having any of them deny the existence of magic/saying "magic is just science we don't understand yet" should be met with ENDLESS mockery. Like come on The flashfam WORKS with gods, magic users, some of the JL/JLD are literally demons and ghosts. Diana/WW was MADE FROM CLAY in some canons!

Scepticism on that level should ABSOLUTELY be met with "I didn't know the Justice League worked with flat earthers" Type scorn. The burns should be third degree. The fatalities wide spread. No one who lives in a world with that much evidence of magic should be allowed to carry "magic isn't real" as an opinion and not be derided for having their head in the sand. As I understand it the scepticism comes out of the flash comics from like, the 60-80's which fair but the other heroes stories had to accommodate for each other when the crossovers started happening so I feel it's only fair to have men of logic like the flashes (so many of them are scientists of some type right?) deduce that yeah magic has to be real ESPECIALLY - When any of the magic users, ANY OF THEM - Could respond with a very simple: "Magic is science you don't understand." "What?" "I understand exactly what I'm doing. I understand exactly what I need to do to get repeat results, and I understand what not to mix not to get undesirable results. What about that implies a lack of understanding? Magic isn't something WE don't understand, magic is something you don't understand."

I enjoy the idea of the flashes being sceptics, I actually enjoy it a lot. Sceptics are very necessary to any narrative, but honestly the magic users deserve a chance to call them out because really having someone call your life's work and very real craft 'not real' 'hoaxes' and essentially parade it around as something they could come to understand better than you if they just looked into it but have made no effort to would be enough to make anyone break their teeth from clenching their jaw so hard.

Essentially early days flashes as sceptics makes total sense. The flashes continuing to have "magic isn't real" as an opinion for too long into the story gives them Flat Earther Level Intellect.

DC x DP Prompt

To the delight of Gotham's citizens, and the dismay of her criminal underbelly, the GCPD has a new specialized unit that ACTUALLY apprehends criminals and brings them to justice!

It's a relatively small squad of mostly young adults, who looked fresh out of their teens. But age didn't matter once they got the work done. And they did, as they've already got criminals like Penguin, Riddler, and Bane behind bars for what looks to be 'for good'.

No one besides Commissioner Gordan knows anything about the squad as they operate as a mostly separate entity from GCPD. It was rare to see any of them, and any photos taken were unusually blurry. They are also extremely secretive; if you exclude their social media which are usually just shit posts, memes, and thirst edits of the Wayne family.

They were a total mystery. Almost as mysterious as Batman.

But those who have seen/worked with the squad before all had the same thing to say about them. They were cool. They had an unusually effective method. And their leader is a menace. With his sharp teeth and pointed smile. And bright blue eyes that spoke to your soul. It was a pleasure to see/ work with him, it really was. But they weren't planning on doing so again for a long time.

That being said, Gotham had been quiet for a while. A bit too quiet if you ask anyone, especially the Bats. Strangely, it didn't feel like the usual calm before the shit storm. The instinctual pit in their guts that usually formed just wasn't there. This was different. This wasn't the calm before the storm. This was the ocean receding. But no one seemed to realize it yet.

Not until the tsunami came crashing down on them.

The GCPD special unit accounts that had been inactive for the last three months suddenly pinged to life. Everyone who followed them clicked the notification almost immediately. With this unnerving calm surrounding them, who the hell didn't want to see what batshit crazy statement they would make after three months of radio silence.

What they didn't expect, was to see a crystal-clear picture of justice finally being served.

The picture was a selfie, taken in an abandoned warehouse. In the middle of the dirty floor was the Joker. He was tied up and his head hung low. You could see how beaten he was, his clothes torn and bloody. His face paint was also coming off, revealing pale blotchy skin. Reminding everyone that, he was still human, just like the rest of them.

Behind him, all lined up with smiles on their faces, was Team Phantom. They were a bit bloody and bruised as well but overall in much better condition. They weren't wearing the normal GCPD navy blue uniform, but black and white ones. All stylized to fit the wearers taste. They all looked so young, but their eyes looked like old tired eyes, finally getting some relief.

From in the corner was their leader. Only part of his face was in the picture. One glowing blue eye, and part of his Cheshire smile. His hand making a peace sign next to the Joker. Even with only part of his being shown, everyone could tell he was relived as well.

And while the picture itself was shocking, the caption was what really got them. The top was what you would usually expect from the team. A big bold 'GOT EM' ' at the top. But at the bottom in small, almost unnoticeable text was:

"He will face his punishment. We will get our retribution. May we finally rest in peace."
