I find it very ironic that at around the same time katy perry released her godawful album with doctor luke, kesha (!!!) gave us a great single (released by her own independent label !!!) that is fun and loud and everything we would want from a return of a late 2000s to early 2010s pop star. if you like music that will kill your ears you should give it a listen.

what if i said i actually love too weird to live, too rare to die and think it’s underrated. what then.

#idk at least the time i’ve lurked around p!atd fandom stuff it feels like no one ever brought up this album 😭😭#vices and virtues too but at least then there was still leftover ryan ross scraps to hold onto #but like. idk i like the dark las vegas vibes of twtltrtd #i’m not the biggest fan of this is gospel but once you get past it it’s got some bangers ngl #one super minor gripe with the album is that i think the brobecks version of far too young to die is better than the twtltrtd version #it’s minor but it’s true. listen to both versions of the song and you’ll understand #my only real complaints though are just with the lyrical content of girls/girls/boys and casual affair #i like the songs themselves but the lyrics….. who let them cook actually #what was brendon doing. why are you singing about affairs like that whilst you’re a fully married man. ????#but honestly the transition towards the end of the album to more romantic songs is nice #i think it fits well and is a good way to slowly die the energy down without completely squashing it #the end of all things is genuinely a beautiful song but an even more beautiful ending to the album #the lyrics are brendon’s wedding vows and the piano is very nice #i like the effects on the vocals and i think they were a good choice to make everything even more cohesive #it doesn’t take away from the emotional value of the song and it also makes it fit better on the album than if it were just a regular #kind of piano ballad #but then also having collar full be the song leading up to it? even better #i fucking love collar full and agh. having it lead into the end of all things is perfect for it #it’s fun on its own but it’s even better in context i think #anyways. too weird to live too rare to die is an alright pop rock album. go listen to it if you want #me.txt

#glass animals #honestly i wore out dreamland sm my brain took a lonnng break from expecting anything from them?? idk i’m just huh????#like….. when i say wore out #i cannot describe how much i listened to it #i usually have some vague idea even if it’s a ridiculous number #like 52 times in a month for an album or something (has happened)#i cannot recall w this #gonna say bc 2020 & they were Literally the last band i saw live. next morning everyone found out about everything annd lockdown. no joke #so it was big dreamland time when it dropped and revisiting their past albums when i broke out of its spell lmao #(pretty sure before that like january was when i listened to déjà vu 100+ times in a row tho so oop. it was a tough day lol)#anyway seeing this aww man. i really have had this band with me for a long long time. 🥹 i remember hearing gooey on the radio one night #driving home from work late @ night in 2014. the drive was so short i couldn’t be arsed to fish out my ipod & plug it in #sometimes so just popped on a good station i had preset. started the car and heard this *voice* and i was like who????#had to check the station bc it was an alt station and i thought i had it on another one which was fine i was just v confused #it was in the middle of the song & i was immediately anxious to know the name hoping i’d hear it & it wouldn't just flow into the next song #then the dj would pile the names together after x number of songs played bc i was tiired (but woulda stayed in the car ngl). got lucky &#ran inside to find it then yelled at my roommate the next day that she HAD to listen to it during a smoke session after work #(i was right & it blew her miiind)#god. what a fucking time. what a fucking band. idk what the disc horse is surrounding them now since they blew up via tiktok #i’m sure people are v quick to say they’re overrated bc of that but idk & i’m glad i don’t know. they’ll always be this #highly inventive incredible band i stumbled upon for the perfect night drive home after a long long shift #a band that came back from a Horrible accident that should have ended 1 of their lives & somehow didn’t & should have ended them #as a band (like still cannot believe Joe was drumming in 2020 & i saw it with my own eyes like how tf???!?)#a band deserving of all of its successes. glass animals forever

#the perfect albums. perfect perfect perfect albums #anyone want a mini rant about these albums? let's go #it's just pure perfection pure talent. no hiding behind flashy loud production. it's just a few instruments and good fucking lyrics #perfect melodies. taylor gets to play with her voice and do whatever she wants with it AND ACTUALLY LET IT SHOW THAT IT'S GOOD #you get what im saying? there are no high notes nothing of that but still her voice sounds the best it ever has in these albums #the songs are simple. but also they're not. the instruments are simple the singing is simple but also NOT AT ALL #she's not TRYING to show anything in these two albums. trying to prove something to achieve something you know? it makes perfect sense to me #it's simple talent that's just it. not hidden behind anything big but still there's NOTHING small or insignificant about these albums #i hope she goes back to that sound some time in the future. it's ok if she wants to do pop now more than ok #but it would be such a shame & wasted opportunity if she never goes back to that genre. it's perfect ideal for her. her best works

I stand by the fact that Songs About Jane by Maroon 5 is one of the best albums by any band in it's totality and I will also be forever mad about how Maroon 5 is a horrible bunch music industry of sellouts :D

#the progression of taylor’s vocals was like #1989: pop album. she sings higher. more air in the vocal tracks because it’s a pop album #rep: pop album. her voice dropped. she doesn’t sing as high. the vocal tracks are still fairly bright but the songs are darker so it cancel #lover: WHAT IF THE VOCALS WERE SUPER BRIGHT. WHAT IF WE MADE THEM CRISPY. MORE AIR #folkmore: not a pop album. richer warmer vocal tracks. perfection. as if god is hugging you.#(not the point but fearless tv: WHAT IF WE MADE EVERYTHING SUPER BRIGHT AGAIN TO MAKE IT SOUND LIKE A 17 YEAR OLD’S VOICE)#midnights minus sweet nothing: pop album but the vocals are warm. good balance of mids and lows with the highs #sweetnothing.mp3: the inspiration for the vocal mix was actually an air conditioner!#(I’d also maybe lump hits different in as a track with vocals being a little too sharp for my liking #but that’s probably more of a consequence of the melody being overall higher #and the timbre of her voice pushing it just over the edge of the balance I prefer)#rambles

#oh my god it was sooooo gooooooood #what do you mean there were 12 months. no there weren't. 2022 ended in mid august. perfect year with no bad months at all #anyway i'm thinking about the 2022 that exists in my mind (january-mid august) it was so good #i listened to. so many albums. and got introduced to so much music #specifically down the route of electronic stuff like eurodance and techno and happy hardcore and that #and also down the route of i guess more atmospheric stuff? like shoegaze and dream pop and droney noisy stuff #and then there was. The Hyperfixation. call me bitter bc i was experiencing extreme truffula flu brainrot aHAHAH- *is shot*#one of the hyperfixations of all time. it was so intense it gave me agoraphobia #okay i had agoraphobia anyway but my camp entre obsession did contribute to it a bit #bc it released so many chemicals in my brain it would just give me anxiety #okay but the actual agoraphobia was so weird like what was going on there #i was so scared of eating food that might annihilate my digestive system i just wouldn't eat. and wouldn't leave the house #i mean i did leave the house but only if i had to and i DID NOT enjoy it and i would start zoning out if i was out for too long #and i did eat but it was limited to like. porridge and bread and for some reason sushi. like they were the only foods i didn't fear #what was wrong with me #then i got over it by the summer. like the slight fear comes back sometimes for a few weeks but it'll never be as bad as it was then #my god the summer though. unreal time #july we have such a complicated history but you did a great job in 2022 #the swag archive..........the career awakening...........(don't tell my 22yo self trying to apply for archiving jobs is the absolute worst)#(let her have her dream)#omg speaking of the dream. and also swag. the night i found out swag was asexual. wtf. great night #i guess it was a mixture of always being in search of a canonically asexual character that i was interested in since i was 18 #like there was todd chavez but i wasn't like Obsessed with him or anything. and i can't think of any other character i knew #and then i find out just as I'm going to bed that the character that has been absolutely obliterating my soul for the past 6 months #is canonically asexual?? so then i didn't sleep for another 2 hours #unreal night #I'm running out of tags but anyway i love you first 8.5 months of 2022 i love you 2nd year of uni i love you camp entre truffula flu #i love you every album i listened to then i love you job i had at that sweet shop i even love you agoraphobia no i don't you were awful #but you were part of the vibe. anyway 2022 jan-aug my beloved #ramble

thinking about the vault tracks not as songs that were cut from the album but more were written in the period and were NEVER meant for the album… freeing

#and this is @ me always looking at them like #‘oh yeah this makes sense being cut from the album’#but i think seeing the 1989 tracks #the album she set out to be very high concept the perfect pop album drastic shift #and compartmentalizing that those songs were never meant to be on the album in the first place #but as a person who never stops writing they were represented of other things in the 1989 era #and the titles seem more personal rather than the outside of self personification #this was also why i’ve had such a hard time accepting reputation tracks existing because of its high concept of #‘there will be no further explanation just reputation’#but like it’s possible she wrote songs that were never meant for the album! or anything!#eris: text #anyway this was just me thinking and trying to look at the vaults without the lense if 1989 if that makes sense AT ALL
