theory time!
so reasoning as to why i cant reblog the other one is just cause it doesnt allow videos when i reblog now which sucks but whatever so yeah! its a jrwi theory again, and whatever future info i have was 99% gathered from the wiki (the remaining one percent might not even show up in this theory so ye), and of course theres spoilers for the black rose one shot AND riptide pirates (dont have any exsct eps, all i can say is im at ep 101 now so anything before that is kinda fair game)
for the original theory post
k so we gonna put that one clip (scroll message, about a minute long) and talk about it, def mention all the connections gill would have with the black sea, shit like that
apologies for the buggy clip, just needed to add this and when i recorded i was in school aka just recorded like this for less risk, lets talk about the message though.
"a map that is a guide and a key passed around the hands of destiny, it leads to chaos infinity beneath the seas, the garden giant, the nameless prince, the unborn kings, all await to be inevitably free"
i think in my og theory post i talked on how gill was very connected to the black sea imo so how does all this tie in? lets do some quick lil notes first
ok so the scroll of legend lore has been held onto by gillion, the one closest to destiny's ties, and has not been used until now
chaos infinity while refering to the black sea could also be an undersea thing, what with the leviathins (nobody else remember how the pearl shard gillion has came from one? and how the pearl was never supposed to even see the light of day probs let alone be in some cat mans evil base? just me?)
while i wanna say aster mythborne aeiliana shes not real here so she cant be garden giant
BUT we do have a known leviathin(? could just be a dragon turtle) named duke who has plant shit and is controlled by a gollieth
nameless prince is everso chip coded but we looking all across our board here so yeah
it could apply that the "nameless prince" could refer to someone "unnamed" who holds power like that prince from edison kingdom or smth
it could also reference marshal jon, who's canon first name has been forgotten and canon last name is jon
unborn kings? honestly while i dont think chip's bit of mpreg is apart of this i think the lady inspiring it (aka aslana's mom) has some relations to this whole thing
we all read "kings" btw so theres probs multiple yall
would goobleck count? he is goobleck he must apply someway
non-literal one again? maybe their monsters or smth
wait to be free. huh. gee, i wonder, will the door nightmare with arlin come into play here. thatd be so fun. yeah. ahahaha im losing myself
okay okay maybe its not all clear and i honestly have had this as a draft for too long (as shown below)
Tumblr media
BUT ill reblog this later cause ill really just be using text and images and shit
whats the basic idea? this is def where the oath from the sword comes into play (murdering destiny), with the whole "the black sea twists you" thing we may get hints of killion or even dark gillion again, the thign about it being a "key" might imply like a 'this means that' type deal rather then being actually a key, the chaos isnt really referring to the black sea but the state of the undersea in general (lost champion becomign criminal, ally shit gone, oversea war, etc), unnamed prince is either someone we havent met yet or someone who we dont expect to have a return (ie: were deemed before as not really lore relevant), and the unborn kings are monsters, oh and the garden giant isnt arlin but something related to the duke! THIS HAS TO CONNECT TO THE LEVIATHINS FR
some details/info about gill/things related to gill so i write this better:
"You promise to slay all evil before thee, crack corruption that takes hold of this world, strike swiftly enough to split the seas, and even if the thread of fate poses an obstacle against us, we shall sever it"
A hero born of moonlight, storm and sea. / They shall rise or fall to bring unity. / They will be tested or bested by evil’s hand. / By their choice one will remain: sea or land.

Building an Embodiment of the Fairytale Princess (2.0)
Tumblr media
This is nothing new. I’ve done this build before, which I’ll link right [here]. The post did really well, and people seemed to love the concept. However, since then, Mythic Odysseys of Theros and Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything have both come out, bringing with them not only new subclasses, but new features, spells, mechanics, and elements that I couldn’t take into consideration the first time around. So, I decided that rather than just adding a tag on post like I did before, I’d just remake the build with the new features being taken into consideration. Like before, the focus of the build is to create an embodiment of the generic fairytale princess and not any one particular character. So without further ado, let’s get into it.
Tumblr media
Like before, we’ll be choosing Variant Human for our race of choice. We’ll channel Sleeping Beauty to be gifted by the fey with blessings of Beauty, Grace, and Song for +1 CHA, +1 DEX, and Performance proficiency. We also get a bonus feat, and thanks to Tasha’s, we can now take Fey Blessed for +1 CHA. However, if she doesn’t cast with Charisma, then substitute those CHA bonuses with Wisdom instead.
The generic fairytale princess is a maid of purest heart, so we’re Lawful Good. But for your more rebellious princesses, Neutral Good or Chaotic Good are also valid.
Background is obviously Noble for proficiency with History and Persuasion.
Tumblr media
CLASSES & SUBCLASSES
BARD
This one seems pretty obvious. Bards love to sing and dance, like your stereotypical princess. Because Charisma is their top stat, and they have expertise, it can make them great negotiators, and allow them to excel in dialogue interactions.
GLAMOUR
This college is very fitting for a fairytale princess, as it is focused on making oneself as beautiful and charming as the Fairest of Them All.
LORE
Lore bards share information, whether they tell stories, recite plays, share philosophy, or spread juicy gossip, the Lore Bard gets more magical secrets, and added expertise to make your princess an even bigger Mary Sue. In actual medieval history, princesses often learned to play instruments and sing, recite prayers or poems, or tell stories to visiting guests, and it was considered a part of her education and duty to do so.
CLERIC
While not every princess is a devout religious girl, their stories tend to be set in the medieval period when a good princess would have been expected to be chaste and pious. So on that front, worshiping a good deity would be befitting of such a character.
LIFE
The fairytale princess raises up those they care about, and nothing is more supportive and helpful than keeping your friends on their feet. The Life Cleric turns your princess into a kind soul who weeps for her friends and patches them up after the battle, turning your princess into a useful ally against the wicked witches and dangerous dragons.
LIGHT
Not all Fairytale Princesses are passive or support players. Those who lean toward Light are the princesses who stand as the Big Good of their story and battle the forces of Darkness with the power of the Light. Of the three Cleric options that fit the archetype, this is the best option for being a powerhouse in combat.
PEACE
Don’t get me wrong, I still hate this domain for wearing the skin of the Love Domain we were supposed to get, and you can absolutely still play it that way. How this domain went from Love to Togetherness to Pacifism is beyond me, but it’s a fairly strong subclass. The classic princess archetype is supposed to be gentle and kind, fitting for one who worships a god of mercy and forgiveness. It’s a value often toted as the strongest characterization of the early Disney princesses.
DRUID
My first time building the fairytale princess, I ignored Druid as an option because the wildshaping didn’t really make sense for a fairytale princess, but a lot of the Bardic Magical Secrets were used to steal Druid spells. However, thanks to the optional rules from Tasha’s, Druids can now use their Wildshape to summon fey that take on the shapes of animals instead of turning into the animals themselves, which makes Druid far more viable, as summoning animals is very in-character for a fairytale princess.
DREAMS
The Circle of Dreams has heavy Fey associations with references to the Summer Court ruled by Titania. It also is strongly focused on healing, and has a very Fairy Tale flavor to it. It’s an especially great option if you want to invoke Sleeping Beauty, as you can cloak your party while you sleep and send messages to people through your dreams.
SHEPHERD
The fairytale princess is strongly associated with animal buddies, and nothing makes better use of that than the Shepherd Druid, which focuses on amassing an army of critters. What’s more, the Unicorn Totem is very fitting, not only because Unicorns only approach maidens with pure hearts, but Shepherds of the Unicorn Totem get empowered healing.
SORCERER
The sorcerer is born with a spark of something special in them, and a lot of fantasy royalty have magical powers that other people in their world lack.
DIVINE SOUL
The princess doesn’t literally have to be the descendant of the gods, as the original name for the subclass was more about being favored by the gods. Still, if you want to lean into the idea of the princess as the Big Good against the Big Bad, then having her be born with the spark of the gods inside her makes for a neat characterization.
WILD MAGIC
With the new Sorcerer Shards as I’ve come to call them, we were introduced to the Feywild Shard, which was heavily geared toward Wild Magic Sorcerers, which seems to be WoTC’s way of saying that Wild Magic Sorcerers are the fey-linked sorcerous origin, so I’m including it because of our fey connection.
WARLOCK
This is the only class where there’s exactly one good option, but it’s one that works surprisingly well.
ARCHFEY
As a Warlock with a Pact of the Chain, your fairytale princess can choose to Find Familiar any cute little animal companion, or a Sprite to be your Fairy Godmother. Or rather, you can sign a pact with your Fairy Godmother, and use your Chain Pact to summon one of her emissaries to help you. The Archfey patron themselves can act as your Fairygodther, granting you and your party boons and aid where they need it.
WARLOCK INVOCATIONS
Agonizing Blast Armor of Shadows Beast Speech Eldritch Mind Eldritch Sight Gift of the Ever-Living Ones Shroud of Shadow Voice of the Chain Master
Tumblr media
CHARISMA vs WISDOM
The big split in how you build your princess falls down the line between these two camps. The wise princess works better as a Druid/Cleric, while a charming princess is more of a Bardlock. For me personally, as much as the Cleruid fits the fairytale princess, the stereotype of the princess is usually that she is gullible, naïve, and overly trusting. Insight is a wisdom check, and something the classic princess archetype is usually bad at. Granted, Animal Handling is also Wisdom, but the Bard’s expertise can overrule a low Wisdom score. Think of it like a clash between Princess Zelda from the Legend of Zelda vs Princess Peach from Mario. Princess Zelda is wise and is much more focused on leadership and protecting her kingdom. Peach is more about the pretty dresses and having servants help her. They’re two very different camps on the princess archetype. Ultimately, which one you choose will depend on the type of princess you wish to invoke. The Classic Damsel or the Wise Matriarch.
Tumblr media
SIDEKICKS
A new feature added in Tasha’s, sidekicks are secondary characters that can help the party and are basically simplified character builds with fewer bells and whistles. There are three main camps:
Expert. Experts are clever and knowledgeable, be they minstrels, librarians, pickpockets, merchants, or assassins. They can pick proficiency with DEX, INT, or CHA saving throws, and can be proficient or an expert with any five skills of your choice, and humanoids also gain proficiency with light armor, simple weapons, and two tools of your choice.
Spellcaster. Trained in the secrets of the Arcane, be they a priest, a fortuneteller, or a magical creature. They can choose proficiency with INT, WIS, or CHA checks, and can be proficient in Arcana, History, Insight, Investigation, Medicine, Performance, Persuasion, or Religion. They choose a roll to determine their spell list: Mage (Wizard), Healer (Cleric, Druid) or Prodigy (Bard, Warlock). The sidekick has access to the spell list of the classes their role aligns with, as well as casting with that stat.
Warrior. trained fighters, be they a soldier, a city guard, a trained animal, or a hired sword. They can pick proficiency with STR, DEX, or CON saving throws, and their skill options are Acrobatics, Animal Handling, Athletics, Intimidation, Nature, Perception, and Survival. Warriors can pick a fighting style: either Offensive to add +2 to attack and damage rolls, or Defender to impose disadvantage on hitting creatures other than them while within 5 feet of the princess.
Generic Princess Sidekicks
Humanoid Guard Warrior (bodyguard) Humanoid Commoner Expert (handmaiden, governess, etc.) Humanoid Magewright Spellcaster (court mage, or advisor) Any Beast-type Warrior (animal companion)
Fairytale Inspired Sidekicks
Seven Dwarves - Dwarf Warrior Fairy Godmother - Sprite or Pixie Spellcaster Prince Charming - Humanoid Noble Warrior Wicked Witch - Barovian Witch Spellcaster Beast - Gnoll, Jackalwere, Orc, or Troglodyte Warrior Puss in Boots - Awakened Cat or Tabaxi Warrior The Frog Prince - Awakened Frog or Grung Warrior Three Little Pigs - Awakened Pig Expert, Spellcaster, & Warrior Big Bad Wolf - Wolf Warrior or Awakened Wolf Expert Robin Hood - Redbrand Ruffian or Bandit Expert Djinn of the Lamp - Dust, Ice, or Magma Mephit Spellcaster Pinocchio - Giant Stone Statue Warrior White Rabbit - Awakened Rabbit Expert Cheshire Cat - Awakened Cat Expert or Spellcaster
There is no actual limit to the number of sidekicks your character can have, so in theory, your fairytale princess could have an entire posse of talking animals hanging out and helping her.
Tumblr media
Skills, Spells, and Features
As a Variant Human, we got Performance proficiency alongside our Fey Touched feat, and as a Noble, we have proficiency with Persuasion and History. For everything else, we’re just looking to be a standard Fairytale Princess. So we should look to be proficient with: Animal Handling, Arcana, Religion, Nature, or Medicine.

Tumblr media
Last time I built the fairytale princess, I gave her exactly 1 build. 18 levels of glamour bard and 2 levels of Archfey Warlock. But recently I’ve begun to instead put more stock in leaving builds open, showing instead the options that a player has to choose from. So, for this update, I’m not pushing for a specific build. I’ve laid out the appropriate spells, and the types of princesses that a player can strive to emulate with their spell lists. Consider this more of a guide to help you decide how you want to play your fairytale princess.

Deviantartober – The "Hey, you’ve been too long on DeviantArt" shitpost challenge
Tumblr media
#deviantartober
DISCLAIMER:
These prompts are supposed to be shitposts, so drawing them should not take longer than 15 minutes each day. Picture them as a fast warm up doodles you can do every day.
Bonus points for extra crappy art or for using software like MS Paint or very poor grade traditional materials.
THIS IS NOT SUPPOSED TO LOOK GOOD. We just want to have fun and loosen up about art, like our 14-year-old selves on DA used to. Don’t be a perfectionist – have fun creating something really bad and unwind!
About the badly tracing prompts: Don't get me wrong: These are shitposts, so please don't actually steal some artist's work and claim it as your own. Credit the company you took it from!
Feel free to share your results via #deviantartober
Most important of all: have fun!
Draw either yourself, your sona or your OC in MS Paint style (if you are a traditional artist, use low quality crayons or something like that).
Draw a traditional piece of either yourself, your sona or your OC and share it by taking a low quality, out of focus picture of your drawing.
Create a Sonic OC. Explain their powers.
Now use the Sonic Dollmaker to make a better Sonic OC, cuz drawing is hard: Male character dollmaker Female character dollmaker
Draw either yourself, your sona or your OC as either a wolf, lion, dragon, cat or horse. You may badly trace over Disney art.
Make that wolf/lion/dragon/cat/horse look even sparklier.
Write an excuse about why you couldn’t post today.
Take some official and well-known cover art, trace over it badly, color it with the bucket tool and claim it as your OCs. (for traditional artists: just lazily trace over it and take a pic)
Draw a character from a cartoon and add some obvious erotic undertone.
Draw an animal, paste it a few times and color them differently. Congratulations, you are an adopt artist now.
Combine an animal with a piece of food and create your own original adopt species.
Take an out of focus picture of your pet or some random merch. It is art now.
Draw something with wonky anatomy and claim it as a STYLE.
Draw either yourself, your sona or your OC overly cute and put 90% of the work into making the eyes look sparkly.
Draw an OC with uncomfortable sexy undertones. Wonky anatomy, like gazillion abs or balloon boobies are welcomed.
Ship yourself, your sona or your OC with a canon character and make them seem madly in love. You may draw your character into a screenshot, cuz again – drawing is hard.
Come up with some overly random ship (Like Mordetwi, etc.) and create a shipping name for it.
Create a DA stamp for one of these ships. (These are stamp shaped gifs, that show support of your amazing ship.)
Draw a weird DA fetish of your choice. The weirder, the better. (Honestly just browse “Newest Deviations” for a few minutes if you need inspiration)
Go on hiatus and leave a hiatus post.
Post a screenshot of a random game you are playing and pretend it’s 3d art.
Draw some edgy cats fighting – don’t use any reference!
Post some overly dramatic vent art. You may be vague about the issue and make it sound worse than it actually is. Sympathy fishing is welcomed.
Add some Linkin Park or Evanescence lyrics to a piece of art.
Create a fursona, but it’s actually just a Pokémon with different colored eyes.
Make either a My Little Pony, Homestuck, Creepypasta, Undertale, Lion King, Warriors or Balto OC. You may use free bases or lazily altered screenshots, cuz drawing is hard.
Make a new OC by copy pasting an existing OC and changing their colors into a gothic look.
Take a stock photo of a person/animal resembling that OC and badly paint over it, to make it look like your OC. Lazily altered Twilight screenshots are not forbidden.
Create some art using any sort of FREE base art.
Take some of your artwork, you did during this challenge and turn it into a blingee -> https://de.blingee.com/
It’s the final day and it’s Halloween and you don’t feel like drawing and you are artblocked, so fuck this. (You may also draw your OC being sad about being art blocked – or you may return to your normal life, because I definitely will do so)

Identity theory to the Black Cat knight in “Feast” - Part 3
There is one detail in “Feast” that has me almost upset because of my own short coming. Not because it’s badly written, out of nowhere or anything, quite the opposite, its brilliant! It’s the detail of the former cat miraculous holder, the knight
Tumblr media
You know why this has me almost upset? I had this as serious theory since one evening I rewatched “Darkblade” and researched the historical background given there, since miraculous takes real life history and changes it to fit into their universe. The people and events are more or less accurate (as we know from episodes like “the pharaoh”). But I never completed the research nor did I made my theory into a post.
Well anyway. I guess it’s never to late to present my theory to who this former cat was.
Part 1: Who is the black knight? And the entire basis of the Theory
Part 2: The flag comparison is “Darkblade” and “Feast”
This is Part 3, here I will cover: Are the Cat Miraculous holder knight and Darkblade the same people?
Alright guys buckel up, it’s history time because these are gonna get LONG
Part 3: Are the Cat Miraculous holder knight and Darkblade the same people?
Before ill start with the episode and context analysis let me just throw something in from the very start. In the french (original) version, Darkblades name is “le Chevalier Noir” which literally translates to “The black knight” so, y’know, french is already making a connection there with the Noir part of the name. But ill leave it with that.
Lets start the analysis
In the episode itself Monsieurs D'Argencourt gives us the exposition about how Darkblade was and what he did in a little monolog sequence.
Tumblr media
The thing is though, Darkblades actions seem to be a little different from Edward from Woodstock.
Because Edward never conquered Paris. I actually cant find much or anything solid about him and Paris at all, so he definitely didn’t “ruled it with an iron fist”.
But I see a real connection here in that Edward indeed ruled a place in France. Aquitaine was in the 1400s until the end of the war in possession of England (but not through conquering, it was already in their possession). (Quoting englishhistoryauthors.com now) With 25, “he came as his father’s lieutenant, endowed with far reaching authority and near complete independence. His short-term mandate was to subdue and punish the disloyal lords and towns of Aquitaine (those who had in the last decades done homage to the French king). His longer-term objective was to restore English control over the region, make the local population afraid of committing treason against the English crown in the future, and asserting his father’s claim to the throne of France. It was not a peaceful mission.”
In 1362 (after Aquitaine officially belonged to England and wasn’t just in possession), Prince Edward was officially named Prince of Aquitaine and was send there to actually REALLY rule over it. It went well in the beginning but through (war and history) reasons the civilians, barons etc where already rebellious and more on the french side. So when then later, after a failed campaign in Spain, Edward had to raise the taxes, they raised against him and since he was already deathly ill he returned back to England.
So the real life story and the miraculous one have certain differences. For one, the setting. It wasn’t Paris but Aquitaine, the ruling style seems to be more or less fine portrayed tough. And then Edward wasn’t overthrown by ONE commoner who bought everybody and then he was “thrown out”, ALL angry civilians rose against him and since he was deathly ill, he left. But I understand this change though. The commoner part of the civilians is still there and ml wanted to bring the Bourgeois’ into this (Bourgeois means “Citizen” by the way and the commoner was totally an ancestor, so, yeah, it still fits). Plus the money aspect of the event is still present, but now instead of raised taxes its someone who used their wealth.
So if you ask me, I still think it was indeed Edwards story and rule that Darkblades story was supposed to represent even if they changed it a bit. Cause like I said in Part 1, I’m not sure if Miraculous would even be allowed to outright display Edward like this. So Darkblades story is “inspired” by him. Different but similar enough that a person who knows this part of history knows its Edward of Woodstock without having to call him out.
Another reason why given by the episode that Darkblade could AT LEAST be Knight Noir from “Feast”, is Monsieurs D'Argencourt.
Lets look at his design.
Tumblr media
Interestingly, he’s the one character in the show who looks stereotypical “french”. The hairdo and the moustache, combine this with the way he speaks (in the french version at least) and you’ve got a solid french stereotype. I never questioned him being a stereotype because this has happened in almost every kids cartoon I watched while growing up but connecting him to his possible ancestors past (Edward from Woodstock as the Cat Miraculous holder in “Feast”) then his design etc take on an interesting new perspective.
As I’ve mentioned in Part 2, to find the right flag to identify the one the former Cat holds in the portrait, Armand D'Argencourt’s name was the key hint that helped me find it. Because “The Battle of Agincourt” was one of the greatest English victories against France in the Hundred Years' War.
Armand D'Argencourt is like, the personification of the “battle of Agincourt”. French and english together, French basis (his appearance) but the english victory (his loyalty and spirit to his Ancestors claim for Paris). Even his Name D'Argencourt is a perfect combination of english and french (the french “D’ “ but his names spelling “Argencourt” is much closer to the english Agincourt than the french Azincourt. A perfect balance)
Look again at the picture of him above. Not only as Darkblade but also as himself he wears the english Dragon symbol of his ancestors flag with pride and when he was akumatized into Darkblade his goals was to regain the rule over Paris that his ancestor lost.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He is french no doubt. And MAN he sure does LOOK french too, but his spirit and loyalty lies to England and this “personification of the battle of Agincourt” is such an amazing character concept and execution!
But I’m not done with him yet.
Cause he’s not only the link to combine Darkblade/the black knight with the Cat from “Feast” through his family background. The concept of Armand D'Argencourt’s being the decedent of Darkblade who is the former Cat is truly brought HOME by the fact that Monsieur D'Argencourt is Adriens TEACHER.
Let me repeat that
The decedent of the former Cat Miraculous holder is the teacher of the current Cat. And THAT is bloody amazing!
It also brings Adrien overcoming and learning Darkblades special fencing move in that episode to a whole different level.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cause Adrien didn’t just learn the special fencing move from a former ruler of Paris and the ancestor of his teacher. He learned the damn special move from the former Chat Noir!
And I love that!
Alright guys, I don’t know about you. But I’m actually pretty sure I ain’t wrong with this and the only thing changing my mind is Canon telling me different. But until then

Note
you once talked about the parallels between sigurd and jaime I have to point out hat sigurd is a dragonslayer who killed fafnir ( who was a dwarf who became a dragon after killing his own father fafnirAsked his father for gold. tyrion Asked his father for his inheritance (Casterly Rock). fafnir Murdered his father upon refusal. Tyrion Murdered his father in light of multiple grievances. tyrion will end up helping dany with her dragons and/or riding one so what if jaime kills tyrion
Hi megashadowdragon and thanks for the question.
I realized I didn’t meta in quite a while, but ohwell, real life calling and all.
First of all, I am impressed that you still rememberor found a way to dig up that comment I made… years ago. Anyway, I had to revisit my own post to check, butreally, the main intention of that post was to point out the many similarities thatcan be drawn between Jaime and Brienne and Sigurd and Brynhild, less so aboutmaking predictions about how those similarities may foretell the outcome of thestory. I hope that this came across and that I didn’t make it seem like I wasfirmly believing in Jaime and Brienne fulfilling the Sigurd/Brynhild saga frombeginning to end.
After all, GRRM uses tropes and themes rather thancopying word-for-word the narrative upshots of the story he takes from. Like,JB builds on the Beauty and the Beast trope in order to subvert it, but thatdoesn’t mean it’s going exactly congruent to the original tale in terms oftrajectory (I can’t seem to recall zombie!Cat to have been amongst the ensembleof Beauty and the Beast, LOL). So Itry to be cautious when it comes to making predictions based on mythologyparallels I can spot in a narrative. After all, GRRM mixed in a lot of mythology, Norse mythology *atlarge* being the first idea that comes to my mind, wherein Jaime fits multiplecharacters. Like, you can easily parallel Jaime with Norse gods like Tyr, amongothers. Or Christian mythology with the Jacob parallels. So… I am very carefulon that territory, which is why I dare not predict future outcomes based onother story’s equivalents. It’s far too tempting to just go down the rabbithole because every story parallel you choose will give you a potentiallydifferent outcome based on the trajectory of the story itself. I am much moresold on the BatB trope and trajectory because a) GRRM has affirmed that hebased JB on that trope, and b) tropes are not the same as following a storyfrom beginning to end along the exact same lines.
However, as you rightly point out, there are greatparallels to be drawn between Tyrion and Fafnir, both taking part in patricideand developing a certain greed (hence the dwarf turning into a serpent as they aresymbols for greed) for gold, which again plays well into the Lannister gold andred theme. And I am thankful that you brought it to my attention because – alsodue to my clear JB focus – did not even think about how Tyrion very well fitsinto the Volsunga Saga in that regard, and it may well be that GRRM drewinspiration from Fafnir when creating Tyrion’s character.
Yet, strictly following that analogy (for the sakeof the argument here), Regin is the brother of Fafnir who orders for hiskilling and enlists someone else to do it (Sigurd). Now of course, we caneither substitute Regin for someone to fill into that role and order Jaime todo it or we cut out the middleman for the sake of maintaining that parallel.
But anyway, perhaps we ought to see it not so strictin terms of how the characters are related and more in terms of what they doinstead. Again, the trajectory for Tyrion maps neatly on Fafnir, as you assert, even more so in the books wherein he has embarked on a much darker route thanin the show (I won’t dig too deeply into the matter as my knowledge remainslimited on book!Tyrion, not having read those chapters in their entirety justyet).
Though that in itself should be telling, I think, withregards to Tyrion’s outcome in the overall series. I think the general themewill be that most characters will move into a gray area in terms of morality(safe for the clear villains that we have… like, Euron won’t become a graycharacter, Cersei won’t either, I daresay). Characters like Jaime are movingtowards the lighter spots whereas supposed heroes have become/are becomingmorally corrupted or at the very least tested in their morality and balancingit with the need to maybe do acts of dishonor for the sake of the people atlarge. The show did away with the dark tidbits of book!Tyrion’s journey why? We will only know once the finalseason airs, of course, but as others have put forward before me (and far moreeloquently than I do here), it may well be that show!Tyrion will move into moremoral grayness towards the end, whereas book!Tyrion may well get a redemptivemoment of some kind to move him back towards gray.
I tend to think that the show wants to link Tyrion’shaving to make tough choices between his family (Jaime) and the woman of nametitles to the grayness of his character. This has already been party exploredin season 7 wherein Tyrion was kind of hoping for Jaime not to be offed byHighgarden and looking completely devastated when he had to see what the womanwith many titles could do with a flying nuke and a bunch of Dothraki in an openfield. It was surely not without purpose that a) she questioned his loyalties beforeand after that and that b) Tyrion looked so clearly devastated and was made tobear witness of the apparent horror that the woman he chose as the one he meansto support can cause to see the overall goal of her ascending to the IronThrone being achieved. They also could have chosen to have Tyrion stay atDragonstone to await the news, but the fact that he bore witness to both thehavoc a dragon can cause on a battlefield plus the barbecuing of the Tarlys wassurely not without purpose. Which was now a long way of saying that I wouldn’tfind it farfetched if his loyalties were to become ultimately tested in season8, and further, that he will ultimately have to choose between his brother andthe mother of nukes.
While characters are supposedly uniting for thegreater purpose of fighting against the White Walkers now, I am by no meansconvinced that this is smooth transition from war to the Star.garyenRestoration Period towards the end of the series, which is to say that it maywell be that we are headed for conflict among the factions and that maincharacters who offered their support last season may still find their loyaltiesquestioned in their wish to seek power and may or may not ditch the groupeffort at least for a certain amount of time. Now, I don’t want to dig intothat whole matter because that is something people have sent plenty about and Ihonestly can’t be bothered too much about either the fandom-favorite theoriesregarding the restoration period or the hype of the characters mostlyassociated with said theories. I don’t discount their overall importance to thenarrative, I am just saying that I personally have zero shits to give besidethe plot purpose they fulfill for the overall narrative, but I have no personalinvestment in the lady with many names beyond her arc contributing to theoverall series.
But I derailed now again, sorry, I suppose I justwanted to position myself so that I don’t then get questions about a character Iam not invested in and don’t want to be bothered to bash on because, really, Ijust don’t care. The point I was heading for but kind of got away from is thatI am not entirely sure whether Tyrion *will* remain Team Lady of Many Names bythe end of the series. The fact that Tyrion’s and Jaime’s conflict has not beenwholly resolved just yet (while they wereon friendlier terms again, Tyrion did only so much as dodge the big questionsstill standing between the two – namely the consequences of his killing Tywinthat had direct impact on people Tyrion did not intend to harm with that, e.g.Jaime, Tommen, etc., for his own purposes of getting revenge on his father andI think the narrative set it up in such a way that when they met again for thefirst time in the vaults of the Red Keep that it was meant to show that Tyrionwas giving Jaime the same old argument as always instead of owning up to it)has me sold on the idea that something else is still coming with regards to thequestion of where his loyalties will eventually lie.
Now, to come back to the Volsunga Saga and theparallels to GoT/ASoIaF: I would also suggest another thought experiment justto explore the many ways of looking at it: Trade in Fafnir for the woman ofmany names (undeniable, the dragon connection is strong with her… and while sheis certainly no dwarf… she is not exceptionally tall, LOL, but now I digressfor sure). She had Khal Drogo kill Viserys with gold (hence, arguably, substituting Hreidmar, the father of Reginand Fafnir, for it), hence also having the gold aspect on her side and the ideaof greed being potentially subsumed in her ongoing quest for power even aftershe achieved to establish herself as Boss in Essos. Now fast-forward to (forthe show here) season 7 and Spoils of Warand have Sigurd (Jaime) go up against Fafnir (the woman of many names) afterreceiving orders from Regin who wants to see Fafnir gone (Cersei). Yet again, gold also plays a large role, and while Jaime is not successful in killing her,he was definitely going for it right there.
So, you see, I think that you can spin this manydifferent ways (which is the wonderful thing about literary analysis that Ilove so very much) and arrive at similar results. It neatly fits with GRRM’smode of paralleling and mirror characters. So the woman of many names does wellfit Fafnir the same way you can find reasons to see Tyrion being paralleledwith the serpent/dragon.
Now, to go back to the suggestion that Jaime may killTyrion… within the narrative, I just fail to see how he would pose such a*threat* that would make it necessary for Jaime to kill him. Tyrion… is only asdangerous as is the power he is granted. If Tyrion were to go completely rogue, hotwire a dragon and ride it into battle against his brother et al., then thatwould require some… serious turnaround and it would still make the dragon the more immediate threat to get outof the way.
Now, he could use wildfire to trigger Jaime into goingagainst Tyrion and make an attempt on his life, but I have my doubts regardingthe matter. I think wildfire will be vital to the plot in defeating the WhiteWalkers, and that it won’t be only limited to being at Cersei’s disposal, because let’s be real, it kind of loses effect and is in itself a gun she issitting on, waiting to be fired. And while Jaime will certainly be triggered byit, I think it makes much more sense for him to either then help evacuate thecity or help set up the trap for the White Walkers to walk into, seeing thenecessity. Now, if we spin this into the woman of many names going rogue andwanting to torch the capitol to thus blow shit up in red and green, then Jaimewould still have more incentive to be mad at her than at Tyrion.
If we spin it in such a way that Tyrion commits utterbetrayal towards Jaime a second time and Jaime found himself in a position ofauthority in the post-war times, then this would come close to Jaime having tosentence Tyrion to death, which I don’t really see happening, to be honest. Atleast I can’t come up with scenarios that would map with what we have been setup for in terms of character development over the past few seasons. While Jaimesaid that he would kill him, he evidently did not whenever he had a chance forit (if he was serious, he could have offed Tyrion in that vault with even justone hand and a tourney sword). Because just as evidently, Jaime loves hisbrother still, which made Tyrion’s betrayal burn ever the harder for Jaime, butthe more organic conclusion to such a conflict is that they talk it out or that Tyrion makes good onhis promise of when Jaime freed him from the prison where he said that he owedJaime his life, which makes him indebted to Jaime.
So I can actually see self-sacrifice to a certainextent far more prominently being one possible upshot of Tyrion’s arc than himgoing rogue on a dragon to require Jaime to slay his own brother instead ofhaving Jaime go through the motions of committing an additional act ofkinslaying. Generally speaking, I just don’t see Jaime offing any more of hisfamily members (and yes, that includes Cersei, the whole valonqar thing beingJaime and then going into suicide for *reasons* is nothing I am getting behind, but yet again, I digress and, yet again, I think people have written enoughabout that by now, so I would much rather focus on literally anything else). Because it would be sovery repetitive for Jaime and the Lannister clan at large. Cersei killed Lanceland Kevan and the in-laws Margaery, Loras, Mace and kind of gave rise toTommen’s fall by making him watch that shit show *ahem*… Tyrion killed Tywin. Jaime(at least for the show… for *reasons*) killed a cousin and in-law Olenna uponCersei’s order. Like, honest to the Seven above, I don’t see the Lannistersdoing any more internal family murder. I think another family can well take aturn now.
So… to somehow tie those loose threads of thought togetherthat I have been spewing out now, anon… I think the parallel of Fafnir andTyrion most definitely fits, and I think there is a lot to be said about thesymbolism and even potential trajectory of the overall story, especially if youlook at book!Tyrion and his dark journey which neatly maps on Fafnir’s fallingfor the gold/greed. However, such analysis only ever takes us so and so farbecause, as I hope to have highlighted, we can recreate similar parallels byexchanging the players and it still matches. Because that just correlates withGRRM’s way of writing, which heavily builds on involving themes andpre-existing tropes, mythology, and narratives. That doesn’t mean we can takeone narrative and go to the end to determine future outcomes for GRRM’scharacters, though. It may well be that it will turn out eventually to be truefor one case, but at this point of time, it is simply too hard to guess whichone he may pick or subvert or abandon.
Though more on a sidenote, I will say that I would notfind it entirely unlikely if Tyrion ended up riding a dragon, as you pointed toin your ask. In fact, I would find that muchbetter than Jesus I mean King in the North riding one because Tyrion has builtup a significant relationship with those scaly nukes and I would much rathersee the dragons being okay with being ridden by a guy they learned to trustthan one that has the right Targ smell to him. But then again, I think dragonsare dicks, so maybe that is why they are more sold on the King in the North orthey just really want their mom to bang her nephew… so, who knows?
Now, speaking more in terms of *just* the show/books,I don’t think Jaime will kill Tyrion because I just don’t see where they would getthe conflict if the show has already hinted at it that there is more things toconnect them than keep them apart. If the woman of many names is supposed to bethe reason why, then Jaime should direct his anger towards *her* rather thanTyrion, and I do think that Jaime canmake that kind of rational decision, even with all those feelings involved. Thenarrative would have to make some true 180° to go back to where we basicallywere in season 5 to have Jaime be again all “I will murder him first chance Isee him.” And all atrocities I can come up that may trigger Jaime would almostalways relate to the woman of many names instead of his brother.
So, in sum: Tyrion and Fafnir parallels are awesome and I am grateful that you brought it to my attention because I missed the connection before. Ithink Jaime and Tyrion will pull themselves back together. I hope that Tyriongets to ride a dragon to prove that you don’t have to smell of Targ in order toearn yourself a ride on a nuke. And I most certainly hope that Jaime’s andBrienne’s narrative will end on an entirely different note than that of Sigurdand Brynhild because I remain sold on the idea that they are, against whatseems to be commonly believed by many people, headed towards a happier endingthan most will have in mind. Naturally, I may be totally proven wrong on thematter, but for now I reserve for myself the luxury of being in the hiatus ofsweet, sweet oblivion, wherein I can imagine all kinds of scenarios where Jaimeand Brienne live happily ever after, to finally get started on the Braime Bunch™,and that if Tyrion is meant to live till the end of the series, will spend his daysin good companionship with his brother.

Bajillion Questions Meme
I see you, @littleblue-eyedbird trying to find out all my secrets and critical hit points. I’m literally the most boring person in the world and it’s so sweet of you to keep tagging me, omg.
Rules: Answer all questions, add one question of your own and tag as many people as there are questions! 1. Coke or Pepsi: Both? Both. 2. Disney or DreamWorks: My friends...it embarrasses me to admit this, but I haven’t seen an animated movie that wasn’t anime in years. I just don’t even know. 3. Coffee or Tea: BOTH! Mainly tea, though. 4. Books or Movies: Books! 5. Windows or Mac: Windows. 6. DC or Marvel: DC. I never really had a chance to get into Marvel. 7. Xbox or Playstation: OKAY. So, here’s the thing...I hate both Sony and Microsoft. But I actually like both of those consoles? I tend to favor Xbox, though, cuz it has 99% of my favorite games on it. 8. Dragon Age or Mass Effect: Dragon Age 9. Night Owl or Early Rise: Night owl. Please don’t attempt to wake me, apparently I argue with people in my sleep. 10. Cards or Chess: Both? Maybe more cards than chess. 11. Chocolate or Vanilla: Chocolate 12. Vans or Converse: I wear combat boots everywhere...but both are nice. I think I have a couple pairs of Batman-themed Converse that I’m saving for an appropriate occasion. 13. Lavellan, Trevelyan, Cadash or Adaar: Lavellan 14. Fluff or Angst: BOTH AT THE SAME TIME Why can’t I write fluff??? -sobs- 16. Dogs or Cats: Better question is why choose? Why not cuddle both and sneeze from twice as many allergies? 17. Clear Skies or Rain: Rain. Thunderstorms scared me for years, but they’re pretty common here (if we get a storm, that is) so now I’m just like “yes, good, more rain please”. 18.Cooking or Eating Out: Depends on how lazy/inspired I am. Also how broke I am. 19. Spicy Food or Mild Food: SPICY 20. Halloween/Samhain or Solstice/Yule/Chirstmas: Halloween/Samhain all year round! 21. Would you rather forever be a little too cold or a little too hot: I get sick from everything heat really easily, so I’d honestly rather be too cold. Can always put on another sweater. 22. If you could have a superpower, what would it be: Something that would let me borrow other people’s powers, even if they were dormant, just so I could try them all. 23. Animation or Live Action: Depends on the show/movie. Both have their perks. 24. Paragon or Renegade: I’ve never played Mass Effect. =( But, judging by how I play through other games, Paragon 25. Baths or Showers: Baths. If I never had to get out, I’d be perfectly fine with that as long as the water stayed warm. 26. Team Cap or Team Iron Man: Neither? Guy who plays Stark is pretty hot, though. 27. Fantasy or Sci-fi: Both? 28. Do you have three or four favorite quotes? If so, what are they?
“We're all gonna die. The only question is when. This is as good a place as any to take your first steps to heaven. The only question is how you check out. Do you want it on your feet, or on your fucking knees... begging?! I ain't much for begging! Nobody ever gave me nothing! So I say fuck that thing! Let's fight it!” - Dillon, Alien 3
“Some grief is too great, even Death may keep it’s distance.“ - Theresa, Fable II
“The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.” - H.P. Lovecraft
Not a quote, but I want to quote a specific bit from Dorian Gray and it’s too long. OTL (Maybe if someone actually wants to read it, I’ll post it?) Also wanna quote Edgar Allan Poe and Charles Baudelaire, but there’s too many options, so just know my fourth quote would have been something from those.
29. YouTube or Netflix: Both are nice, though YouTube is somewhat less so. 30. Harry Potter or Percy Jackson: Harry Potter 31. When Do You Feel Accomplished: When I actually get something finished. The other day I completed my third long fic and am still having happy “I did something” feels. Also when I get reviews. 32. Star Wars or Star Trek: BOTH 33. Paperback Books or Hardback Books: Hmm...I like hardback books, but paperbacks are nice, too 34. Handwriting or Typing: Depends on what I’m writing, tbh. 35. Velvet or Satin: ...what is the fabric for, because that’s really gonna change my answer here. 36. Video Games or Movies: Video games. 37. Would you rather be the dragon or own the dragon: Why can’t I be a dragon that owns a dragon? 38. Sunrise or Sunset: Both <3 39. What’s your favorite song: Why are you tormenting me like this? Why make me choose? (I have been pretty obsessed with Prismo’s Neverland lately, though. Also Vancouver Sleep Clinic’s Stakes.) 40. Horror Movies, yes or no: I wanna say yes, but I also want to sleep when I can. 41. Long or Short Hair: Long 42. Opera or Theatre: Theatre 43. Assuming the multiverse theory is true and that every story ever told has really happened somewhere, which one of the movie/book/tv show/game/etc worlds would you pick to travel to first: -throws self into Fable, burrows into the soil, and never leaves- 44. If you had to eat only one thing for the rest of your life what would it be: I’m tempted to say pizza, but definitely soup! I can eat soup nonstop. Alternately, eel sushi...which is my absolute favorite food. You now know my ultimate weakness. 45. Older guys or young guys: I see your question and I’m gonna raise you with sass master partners. 46. If you could erase any show from TV history, what would it be: I...don’t...know...? I don’t really watch tv? 47. Singing or Dancing: Singing. Loudly. When no one’s watching me. I used to sing in talent shows? And it was terrifying. Now I just kinda sing nonstop when no one’s around. 48. Instagram or Twitter: Twitter, though I’m not around much anymore. 49. Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit: I only ever really got into the Hobbit book? But I liked all the movies for both. They were fun. 50. If you could create either a sequel or bring back any tv show/movie, what would you choose: A sequel for the original Teen Titans cartoons, alternately...another Riddick movie or a sequel to Labyrith...though that might feel weird with Mr. Bowie not...well.... 51. Who is your movie/tv show character that you are looking up to and why? I’m kinda struggling with this one. I relate to more game characters, tbh? But if I had to pick...probably Ellen Ripley. I first saw the Alien movies when I was very, very smol, but Ripley made a huge impact on me? She showed that you can be strong and vulnerable and survive everything that comes your way as long as you’re determined enough and it was really a lesson I needed at the time and still need on occasion. 52. If you were ever convicted of a crime, what would it be? -innocently pushes legal record out of view- Either protesting or getting into a fight because someone was in trouble and I wanted to help them. Also wandering into a place I’m not supposed to be in because I was reading and not paying attention because that’s basically what happened. 53. Anime- subbed or dubbed? Depends on the cast. 54. City or countryside? Both have their perks??? 55. What book have you read over and over? Harry Potter. I read them so many times I just can’t anymore. Which is a shame because I miss them. Also, the Forbidden Game series by LJ Smith...which sounds like a cheap smutty romance, but it’s actually about a shadow demon abducting a group of teenagers into another realm and tormenting them with their worst nightmares until dawn. There’s also a bit of romance. But, yeah, my beloveds I read too much and can no longer read, though I wish I could. Also, shout out to Tom Becker’s Darkside series which I’m on my...4th read through? Discounting all the times I read the first two books? And I’m trying desperately not to burn myself out on. 56. What is your personality type? INTP
My question: 57: What’s your go to comfort item?
There is just about one less question than I currently have followers, so anyone who wants to do this? Y’all can do it. ^^
