Neal Caffrey cutting his strings is possibly the most hype promise an episode could end on. Like if it wasn't late at night I would've been jumping out of my seat and cheering. Gods, this show is SO GOOD

#got knocked off my gourd last night. it peeled back some layers that I've already learnt to pull back.#tag talk#I of course took two edibles when I should have only taken one. because I do not do anything by half measures#any deeper thought feels like a fake deep like in a dream when you have a conviction but it's not real.#we split into two though. for a moment. he was watching a movie and I was fixated on a corn dog for like.. what felt like an hour#mostly my sense of time went to shit. everything in the past stopped existing so even speaking was hard because that requires forethought#how can you think about what you're going to say when you can't remember what you just said. a sentence is a linear construct#I just really wanna get fucked while high now. that would be wild as hell#I'm a fan of roller coasters. you get on and strap in and you have no control over stopping the experience until it's over. you just hang on#it's how I prefer to drink too. load up quick and ride it out. I don't want to ride the line as a static waveform.#I want to dive too deep and hold my breath until I surface.#I still had rational thought of course. I asked a friend about boundaries before talking about a few subjects.#I thought about frying bread but recognized it was not a safe smart thing to do in that state.#I kept a no-spill water bottle close. had a snack.#idk. very fun experience. but it feels kind of dumb to talk about it to people. it was such an internal experience. best experienced alone#like. very private. but like. not in some bs spiritual sense. I'm not trying to make it sound like I saw gods or anything.#I already know what I think and what I care about. I already love my friends and care for myself. but looking at it from a different angle.#it felt familiar though. cause like. being dissociative is something I'm pretty well used to. not as much anymore though which is good.#but yeah. I already knew how to be careful and direct my body even though I wasn't in the control room#muscle memory and habit carried me a ton through the experience.

Post by u/DJConvex to r/AskReddit on Nov 6, 2024:
People who work in DC for the government, what is the vibe?
Comment by u/Meduselde:
Resigned. We are generally very good about not discussing politics in the workplace but the vibe was obviously off. My more conservative colleagues who were happy Trump won were extremely respectful. There wasn't smug gloating and they were very obviously being cognizant of others' feelings even more than normal. It was extremely appreciated. Ultimately, we survived the first administration and will survive again. It's not necessarily Trump who was the problem last time, but his inexperienced senior appointees. The world isn't going to end nor do I feel democracy will crumble at his feet. It's just gonna be chaotic, and that's the worst part as a worker bee. At least with Biden we had consistent leadership and clear guidance, even if you didn't agree with it. Under Trump, your "yes man" says "no" and that's how you rotate through four SECDEFs. But as a sign of hope, it also means that even the most loyal DO say "no" sometimes, especially when businessmen are finally confronted with the realities of governance.
They chill out REAL quick on their dismantlement plans when they see the work these agencies do and what's at stake if they don't stand up for their people. It's easy to say you will dissolve or cut funding for something when you do not truly understand it. And as much as people say we can ALL be magically replaced with "yes men," even the most stone-hearted appointees recognize that the last thing you ever want is to lose the entirety of your skilled workforce. They learn it's best to get the skilled people to work towards their vision and not hire enthusiastic but stupid people to attempt the same. If they do, they risk looking inept themselves. You don't get skilled federal workers in a blue portion of the country to work for you by being a fucking Nazi. We're cranky and will make your life hell if you behave like that. I'm not talking about some sort of organized resistance movement because we feel like it. That's wrong. But just imagine hundreds of thousands pissed off at you. If that's the Deep State at work, then we aspire to be the quality of swampy Deep State your racist uncle thinks we are. If implementing dictatorship was that easy, Trump would have taken out every agency his last term and fired us all. I am actually extremely proud of the resiliency and checks and balances that the American federal government has in place to prevent most of the shit he says he can achieve by waving a magic executive wand. (He's done this once. He knows he can't. He just lets the majority of the population believe he can.) Us feds will make it, as we always have.
And we will live up to our oath to serve the Constitution, not a president. We serve every official of every party faithfully within the bounds of legalities and our oath. Working for administrations you may not like it's just a part of the job that we all recognize. Public servants at the federal level generally hold that extremely close to their heart. The ones that don't (I'm talking to YOU, WaPo "informants!") put us to shame. We're just tired, man. I can't believe it has already been four years since the last round. There's going to be some waves, no doubt, and some people definitely are going to be hurt at upper levels. But grab a Twisted Tea and buckle up. We'll at least pretend it's meant to be a roller coaster and ride it. TL;Dr Democracy is not going to die. But a drink and "thanks" would go a long way.
EDIT: Woah! I woke up this morning and am surprised by how much traction this got. I'm sad that this was the most positive thing some people had read. I'm sorry it's been that bad. I am not predicting outcomes. I have no idea how it's going to go. It's going to be bloody. But the hope I am trying to get across is that we are a resilient people and a group of (generally) good people. It will be okay, okay? The people that really make or break your daily life are those around you and your local government. Hold those around you close to your heart and always be kind. Everybody go outside, take a deep breath, eat something you love, and hug your grandma (even if she voted differently). The world is still turning and the sky is still blue. Being surrounded by spiraling anger on the internet only makes us the losers, not those we disagree with. The only thing we can do right now is wait. We have a few months to cool off! Enjoy your holidays!
EDIT 2: I think everybody has forgotten about this, but go check out the memorandum signed by the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the end of Trump's first term after January 6. The feds basically said "fuck that" when people were scared that the government was going to turn the military on them to help Trump in some way. While it was specifically addressed to our armed forces members, it was spread throughout the DOD and beyond. Partially as a result of federal workers' fear (not actually ordered, to be crystal clear) that they would be asked to turn on citizens. This sentiment was echoed across the entire government via internal emails (from Trump appointees!) as well to the civilian workforce. That's one of my proudest moments as an American and why I know we will get through it.
Emphasis mine. Link to original Reddit Post. Link to an article about the aforementioned memorandum signed by the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Don't give up. We will get through this.

Chapter 1 Chapter 2
tara carpenter x fem!reader
summary: The morning after party seeing Tara in your house wasn’t something you would expect and why the hell you weren’t bothered by that at all?
tags: slow burn, enemies to lovers, alcohol, throwing up, bickering, roller-coaster ride, curse words, memories

Tumblr media
The next day you woke up. Yesterday night you didn´t lose yourself much, like Chad for example. You weren´t a fan of alcohol or more like drinking somewhere where there are a lot of people you don´t know.
As you stood up from your bed and made your way into the living room you could smell something sweet. Your face turned into confusion.
What´s that?
You slowly walked into your kitchen and you saw Tara behind the counter, making food. You raised eyebrows at the scene in front of you. The girl turned around and realized you were standing there.
„Good morning.“ She said as she smiled at you. You were still looking at her with a confused face. She seemed different like she wasn´t the girl you were used to.
„Hey?“
She slowly walked towards you, smiling softly with playful eyes. „Why that long face?“ she asked as she was playing with her hands behind her back, looking up at you.
„What are you doing?“ you asked looking up behind her at the kitchen counter, still processing what was going on.
„Food silly.“ she smiled widely and put her arms around your neck. „For you.“ She whispered looking still into your eyes. She was so close you could feel her breath on your skin.
What the fuck is happening?!
You started to sweat and your breathing was getting faster by every second. Then when you felt like you were getting zero air into your lungs, your eyes opened and you sat on your bed.
You quickly looked around you with eyes wide open, touching yourself on both arms and chest. As if you were making sure you were real. Then you realize you are in your room, in your bed. It was a dream.
„What the fuck?!“
You stood up from the bed, tripping over the blanket as you tried to stand up fast from the bed.
You ran into the kitchen but was only met with nothing. Everything was where it was supposed to be, not a single change. You looked around one more time when suddenly you heard a groan from the living room.
,,You stomp like an elephant.”
You rolled your eyes at the comment. You knew who it was, now you remember clearly.
That little dwarf.
You went into the living room and saw the brunette laying on her stomach. One of her legs was over the edge of the couch, the same as her arm, and the blanket was on the ground. It was weird position but, whatever works for her.
Maybe short people have different sleeping positions.
,,You won’t say anything?” She asked again, and she lifted her head a little in your direction. Her hair was everywhere along with her mascara.
,,You look ugly.” You replayed with your morning voice and left the living room. After that you felt the soft pillow hit your back.
You just laughed at her when you heard her saying something under her nose as you kept walking away.
-
That day you and your friends went to the theme park. It wasn´t probably the best idea, Chad was currently throwing up in some bush. And you went to just on a carousel. Really slow carousel.
It´s not like you were telling him to go with you. He was the one that wanted to go, saying that he was fine.
„You okay buddy?“ you tapped his back, giving him some tissues. He nodded and stood up straight.
„Never better.“ He looked at Mindy. „Can we go again?“
See? He wasn´t even touched by a situation that he was in just a couple of seconds ago.
„No, definitely not.“ She grabbed him by the arm and started to walk him somewhere. Probably toilets. Her voice was fading away as they were getting far by each step, still scolding him.
You were standing there with just Tara, Anika, Ethan, and his sister Quinn. Not knowing where to go without the two siblings. You sighed and went to sit on the bench as you were waiting for them to come back.
It was fun at first, you all laughed at the slow ride and enjoyed the cool weather in your hair. Then all of a sudden Chad´s face got a little green and he just bent forward with his hand on his stomach.
You smiled a little as you repeated the scene in your head again.
„Can we go to that next?“ Tara asked as she was pointing at the big roller coaster above your heads. The people who were currently on the ride were screaming with their eyes closed and hands up in the air.
You raised your eyebrows as you were looking up at the switchback. „You sure they would let you in?“ you asked the girl. „They have a height restriction there.“ you continued with a little smirk.
Tara´s smile slowly fell and was now looking at you with angry eyes. „Oh, I´m more worried about you. You look like you just shit in your pants by only looking at it.“ She said with a provocative voice. „You don´t have to hide your fear by camouflaging it with something else.“
„Says a girl who won´t even get there because she stopped growing in kindergarten.“
„At least I´m not scared of a ride for kids!“
„For kids? So you just wanted to go among your own?“
„What did you say you fuckin-“
You continued your bickering without realizing Mindy and Chad already came back. Everyone was just ignoring the two of you, already used to it.
„I´m not scared!“
„You are! Why else you would not want to go there?“
You breathed out through your nose as you were shooting daggers at the girl in front of you. You didn´t want to admit it but from that crazy roller coaster, you were feeling respect. But you were not scared... or were you? No, you needed to prove it to her and maybe to yourself too.
Your legs started to shake a little with adrenaline as you were now standing in the row full of people waiting for the ride.
Tara was beside you, smiling mischievously at the ride and then back at you. Your hands were getting wet and your heart couldn´t keep up.
It´s just a stupid ride.
As you got into your seats and you got locked in your chest was rising faster. Tara was beside you smiling and holding onto the railing in front of her tightly.
You looked down at your friends who were standing under the roller coaster laughing at you with their phones in their hands. Your eyes were pleading with help and before you could say something to them the ride started.
Throughout the whole time, you and Tara were screaming at the top of your lungs. The brunette beside you was screaming because of excitement and you were yelling because of fear. You just wanted it to end already.
It went up and down, right and left. The worst part was the one when you went all the way to the top and suddenly came down at high speed.
When it ended your hair was everywhere and your eyes were wide. Your legs were shaking and as soon as you felt the touch of the ground you fell onto your knees with happiness across your face.
„Thank you!“ you yelled into the sky.
Tara was still laughing hard beside you, holding her stomach and her dimples on display.
It has been such a long time since you have seen them. You almost forgot how they look. They were bored deep into her cheeks, just like the last time.
Mindy ran in your direction with others laughing at you. „Are you guys okay?“ You were taking deep breaths in and out as you were looking up at Mindy, still on the ground.
„It was fine.“ You quickly stood up and brushed your knees as if you didn´t just have a panic attack. Tara laughed at your answer humorously.
„You almost started crying up there.“
„I did not!“ Your face had a deep color of red all around your cheeks, clearly embarrassed from it.
„Oh boy look at this!“ Chad pointed out at the photo of you and Tara on the roller coaster. „They took a photo of you two!“
When everybody got the chance to see it they instantly started laughing. In the photo were you and Tara with open mouths, screaming. Your hair went with the wind and speed of the ride and your hands were holding each other tightly.
You don´t even remember it. Your eyes were wide open showing fear but Tara´s were close. She looked really happy in that photo.
„Wha- They fucking photoshopped it! I didn´t look like that!“ you yelled as you pointed at your face in the picture. You refuse to believe that.
„Oh you are such a sissy!“ Tara laughed at you and held her hand before her mouth.
„I´m not!“ you scrunched your nose and folded your arms on your chest as you looked away from your laughing friends.
Oh, you were such a kid.
You were trying to throw the photo into the trash can but Tara wanted to keep it, saying she wants to remember your scared face forever. She couldn’t be more excited to tease you about it later.
-
You loved most of your childhood memories. You loved bringing yourself back to the good times when everything was so simple. Well, that time it was hard and you didn´t understand a lot of things.
When people say “I would want to go back in time with my current thinking“ you know what they mean.
You were pretty stupid, keeping your mouth shut in times when you needed to say something. You always wanted to protect everyone from everything and be a good friend even to those who didn´t deserve it. But who protected you? It was always easier for you to protect someone else than yourself.
You were currently sitting on your bed, in your dad’s house. The bag in which you brought clothes in was beside your legs. You wanted to stay here for the weekend, just take a rest from school and fast life.
This house brought you a lot of memories. It was enough to just look somewhere like the faded colors of your room or the porch swing that was behind the house. The ticking clock in the hallway that you hated because of how they were loud in the night and the smell of the flowers that were decorating the garden. Or the photos that were hanging on almost every wall in the house.
This was yours and you felt safe here.
-
„Oh my, I missed this so much.“ You said as you were chewing on the burger in your hand. Your dad laughed at you as he was turning around some meat on the grill.
The both of you were sitting outside on the wooden chairs by the big oak table. Your father built this a couple of years ago, like half of the things in the house. He loved the handmade things and enjoyed doing them.
Behind you was an orange sunset that was slowly fading because of the hills that were covering the sun. You could hear the crickets in the distance and the gentle wood cracking in the fire. The soft warm wind was bringing you the smell of the roasted vegetables and meat.
You talked about the city and your school. He asked about your friends and how are they. Your dad loves them. He remembers a lot of times when you brought them to your house and how he laughed a lot of times at you. He loved spending time with you and every time your friends came he couldn´t say no.
When it got dark you cleaned everything and went to the house. You wanted to spend time with him as much as possible so you offered to watch some games on TV.
„Last week I was cleaning the loft and I found this.“ He said as he sat beside you on the couch.
You looked confused at the box he was holding in his hands. Just from the looks you could tell it was really old, on the top of it was left dust that wasn´t well wiped. „What´s that?“
He gave the box into your hands. „Look.“
You opened the top of the box with scrunched eyebrows. In the box were photos. Your family photos. Most of them were yours from when you were a toddler to your first day in kindergarten and school. Your graduation photo.
There were also photos from every year with your classmates. You could see how you were changing each year. There were some of the family celebrations like birthdays or vacation photos.
As you were browsing through the photos your eye caught two photos. The first one was when you were in first grade in school. It was a couple of weeks after you started to go to school.
In the photo were standing four kids. You, Mindy, Chad, and Tara. You laughed at the image. Mindy was the tallest of all of you at that time. You and Tara were the same height and Chad was a little shorter than you. The four of you were wearing school uniforms and on your backs were big school bags.
You put the photo away and now you were looking at the second photo. Your face became stoic as your eyes were scanning the photo.
You were holding that for a couple of seconds like you were remembering something. Your dad was still looking at you, trying to read your face.
-
It was a sunny day in the middle of summer. It was one of the hot days when you could almost feel the warm rays of the sun.
Laughing and yelling could be heard around the playground in a park. Parents were sitting on benches looking out for their children on talking to each other. It was perfect weather for taking a walk in the park to hide from the fierce sun.
Tara was just 7 at that time. She was swaying on one of the swings nearby, enjoying the air that flew through her loose hair. Her legs went up and down at every change of the swing position. Her hands tightly held the chains on both sides, carefully so she won´t fall.
She slowly stopped and was now just sitting there looking around her. Kids were chasing each other around, climbing on a small caste to slide down the slide or they were playing with sand.
Suddenly she felt pressure on her back and she was forced to fall in front of her. The sudden movement made her fall into her knees and palms of her hands, barely keeping herself up. Tara´s first reaction was to look at the part of her body that was in pain, her palms were stretched from the small stones that were at the ground.
The small girl could hear a laugh from behind her. There were three boys that Tara knew from the school, they were a year older than her and were always doing bad things to others.
„Oh, my bad! Didn´t see you there!“ One of them laughed and went to sit on the swing that she sat on before. The other two kept laughing at her, she was still on the ground looking at them. She slowly stood up and brushed her knees. Tara saw how her knees were red and dirty from the fall on the ground.
„What? Don´t tell me you want to cry?“
Tara´s eyes started to water. She felt scared and alone. Suddenly the boy that was on the swing was pushed hard on the ground, exactly like Tara was. His hands didn´t catch him in time and he fell right onto his face.
Tara and the two other boys were standing there shocked at what just happened. You were standing behind the swing with angry eyes. You then looked at the two boys that were beside you and took a step in their direction. That made them run away from the three of you.
The boy that was on the ground touched his hurt face. He noticed that on his palm was blood and not from the ground. But from his nose.
„You want to cry?“ you asked him as you were walking to him. His face was dirty and under his nose was a little blood. Scared of what would you do next he wanted to quickly stand up and run away but you were fast to grab him by the sleeve of his shirt.
„Don´t ever do that again.“ You told him and pushed him again. Then you looked at Tara and saw her just standing there with her big brown eyes. She was your best friend at the time.
You went to her and with your small arms hugged her. She thanked you and you went to help her treat her wound. After that, you came back and played together till your parents called you home.
Tara was smiling the whole time she was with you. With her deep dimples and shiny eyes.
-
The photo you were holding was you with Tara, standing beside each other. One of your arms was around her shoulders and hers was around your waist. Both of you had wide smiles across your faces.
You almost forget about it. You used to have the biggest crush on Tara. She was your first-ever friend. Even before Mindy. She was the reason you begged your dad to let you be outside a little longer or you would run to school or the playground just so you could see her. You would always protect her from everyone and everything, make her laugh and spend time with her.
You shook your head at the memory with a small smile. Funny how time changes.

Back in the Saddle
Pairing: Boone x fem!reader
Word Count: 3.7k
Warnings: angst, little fluff, tornadoes! more like one tornado but you get the picture. mentions of pregnancy - nothing described in detail.
A/N: you already know what it is. this is more angsty than what I planned but I enjoy it. I hope you do too. absolutely no beta. An alternate ending may be posted soon. Credits to the gif artist.
Tumblr media
The screams of amused thrill seekers followed by the sweet smell of candy apples brought more warmth to your heart than you’d imagine.
A carnival camped out in the parking lot of your old community college felt typical of the town you left, resurfacing memories you swore you’d never revisit. You planned to stay in for the night, maybe catch a flick or catch up on some emails you’ve been avoiding but your little one insisted on coming after passing by one night on the way home.
“Mama, can we go to the party? Gigi says I’ve been good.” she mentioned earlier that evening. It was true, you had been taking her to your mothers while you acclimated to your new job. At first you were worried, nervous that she would throw tantrums and beg to stay with you because you were all that she had known up until this point. You packed your bags weeks into the pregnancy and handled going into labor all by yourself. It wasn’t ideal and looking back, a pretty big mistake but your mother always greeted you with grace and patience, even if you didn’t extend it to yourself.
Bailey took to her like moths to a light. They were inseparable and whenever Bailey left your mothers house, she’d always ask when she was going back.
“Well, if Gigi said you were good then we can go. Maybe we can split some pizza and ice cream?”
You’d never seen Bailey run faster to put her shoes on.
The two of you cheered during the pig race, got dizzy while riding the spinning teacups and loaded up the photo app on your phone with pictures of her riding her first roller coaster. It was rewarding to watch her navigate this space, eyes aglow. You were working yourself down to the bone as the new executive assistant to a local lawyer but if it meant that Bailey could enjoy her childhood more than you ever did, that was a sacrifice you’d make.
After a few hours of enjoying the rides, you decided it was time for dinner. You order two cheese slices and head to a quiet picnic table near the edge of the dining area.
With the slice mere centimeters from your mouth, Bailey taps you. “You’re supposed to say grace first.”
You sigh, setting the food down and crossing your hands together. Bailey watches you carefully, mimicking your actions.
“Go on, then. Say grace.”
Bailey squeezes her tiny eyes shut. “Dear Jesus, thank you for pizza. And Gigi. And momma. And piggies. Amen.”
“Amen.”
You show her how to fold the slice in half, making it easier for her to chew. You did your best to keep her clean, she insisted on wearing her new shirt tonight but children will be children. A big splat of pizza sauce lands on her shirt before dribbling down onto her jeans.
You groan and dab your finger along the excess red liquid, licking it before it has time to set it. “Bailey! Look at that, now I’m gonna have to do laundry tonight.”
“Sorry, mama!” The toddler attempts to help you but makes things worse.
You grab at her hands to stop her. “Just-can you be a big girl and grab some napkins for me?”
“From where?”
You gaze around before your eyes land on a condiments table, a full container of napkins resting beside the ketchup.
“Right there. Go on, I’m watching you from here.”
Bailey nods and takes off, going as fast as her little legs can carry her. Halfway to the table, she bowls straight into a group of people, colliding into a leg,  landing flat on her tush.
“Woah! You alright there little speed racer?” the victim asks her and you freeze.
You knew this was always a possibility. Hell, the town wasn’t that big. You knew that at any given moment, you’d stop running from your past and run right into it instead. You just wish it wasn’t tonight.
Bailey is more stunned than hurt and she doesn’t give the man a chance to help her before she’s barreling back to you.
You stand and console her, hoping that if you don’t make eye contact with him that he’d disappear.
Unfortunately, Boone wasn’t the kind of guy you’d ignore.
He calls out your name in disbelief and you exhale softly, slowly lifting your head. There he was, in all of his tanned glory. Boone certainly had grown, muscles well defined and mustache thick. His hair was longer, tucked under a signature trucker hat. Crooked smile as bright as ever.
“Holy shit.”
“Hi, Boone.”
You break eye contact to see that he was with his crew, the infamous tornado wranglers. They all stare between the two of you, the unspoken history of your relationship hanging in the air above them. The silence was fucking comical.
Lily clears her throat. “Uh, guys, we should, um get in line for the funnel cakes. Before, ya know, it gets long.”
She not so subtly pushes Boone towards you, herding everyone else off into the opposite direction.
“This is the last place I’d expect to run into you.” Boone comments, attempting to lean on the picnic table across from yours but he miscalculates his reach and nearly stumbles into you.
“Oh!” you exclaim, helping him steady his footing. “Still clumsy.”
“You know I always fell for you.” He chuckles nervously. Bailey tugs on your jeans and you rub your hand across her head in a soothing manner. She stares curiously at Boone, who squats to meet her eye line.
“And what’s your name, pretty little lady?”
You look down at her as well, nudging her gently to let her know it was ok.
“My name is Bailey.”
Boone raises his eyebrows enthusiastically. “Well, I’ll be! That’s my favorite name. Did you know that? Are you a secret mind reader?”
Bailey giggles, gaining more confidence as she steps from behind your leg and closer to Boone. “No, mister smarty pants! You’re silly.”
Boone keeps the amused look on his face, searching yours for clarification.
“Ah, mister smarty pants is a puppet in this show she likes to watch. Everyone besides my mother and I are referred to as such. His pants wear glasses. It’s weird.” you explain.
“Well, how ‘bout this?” Boone rummages around his many cargo pants compartments before pulling out a pair of sunglasses. He places them above his knee, balancing it with precision.
“It’s me, Mister Smarty Pants!”
You shake your head, pointing upwards with your finger. “Higher octave.”
Boone tries out a number of voices, not giving up until Bailey laughs. You smile tenderly at the interaction. He gestures to your table and you all sit back down, Bailey going to town on her food. You had given up on trying to keep her neat, you would be staying up late regardless. May as well get laundry out of the way.
Getting Bailey settled means your attention was shifted and this allowed Boone to fully take you in. It had been about three years since he last saw you in person, the burner instagram account he used to keep with you digitally proving futile, as you weren’t the social media type. Your face took more shape, body fuller. Your accent was masked, bits and pieces of it slipping out when you pronounced certain words. You wore an effective mask, a sure symptom of your failed relationship and attempt to acclimate to the city life.
You look up to catch him staring. He blushes and bites his lip, toying with his hat. You prop your hand under your chin, tilting your head sideways.
“What has Boone been up to all these years? Still risking your life for random people on the internet?”
“You can say that. These folks aren’t random though, they are devoted fans of our crew! We’ve reached our million subscriber milestone. Look,” Boone pulls up his youtube channel and holds the phone up to your face. “Tornado Wranglers going global, baby!”
“Wow, that’s amazing. I remember when you first started that. I’m happy you stuck with it.”
Boone nods, reading in-between the lines. The youtube channel hadn’t been the deciding factor in you ending your relationship with Boone but it definitely was a cause. You thought it reckless, constantly begging him to consider getting a “real” job. It didn’t help that when he told you that he was going to work with Tyler full time, it was the same day you found out you were pregnant with Bailey.
You see him in her all the time, it was sickening. Their off putting humor, lopsided smiles and unrelenting curiosity was enough to drive you up the wall. Bailey would ask from time to time about her “papa” and you’d always switch the conversation, redirecting her attention to something else. It had gotten to the point where she just ultimately just stopped asking.
You’d always imagine having a family with Boone. Call it a teenage fantasy but it always felt like an endgame with you two. You met during your first year of college, both stuck as chemistry lab partners. Boone was the class clown, although it wasn’t like he was actively trying to be. He was off kilter and you liked that about him, it was a stark difference from everyone else you grew up with. It also didn’t help that he was the smartest one in the class.
He became your tutor, then your friend and finally, your boyfriend.
Boone studies Bailey as she eats. “How, uh, old is she?”
You sigh deeply. “I think you can guess, Boone.”
He nods gently. “You been in town long?
“Uh, about six months. It got a bit harder juggling her on my own. My mom’s been helping out. I started a new job at a law firm, so I’m there for most of the day.”
“That explains your clothes then.”
You glance down at your corporate attire, pulling your blazer across your slightly exposed cleavage. “Had to grow up someday, ya know?”
“You think I haven’t?” Boone asks, a hint of frustration in his tone. He rarely got upset and watching him wrestle with his emotions now was a bit unsettling.
“Listen, I wasn’t expecting to have this conversation today, so forgive me if I don’t use the right words.”
Boone hums, jaw ticking. “It’s just that, you know, I’ve been here. If you needed help or whatever, I could’ve done that. Especially seeing that she’s my ch-”
You hurry to cover Bailey’s ears. “Can you not! Jesus, Boone! It’s just like you, never knowing when to quit.” Bailey watches keenly as the two of you bicker, voices muffled and mixed in with the ambiance of the carnival.
“Just like you never know when to stop running.”
It shouldn’t hurt as much as it does but Boone’s words seep into an open wound and cuts deep. You bite your lip to stop them from quivering and Boone’s facial expression gives way, aware that he crossed a line.
“I’m sorry-”
“It’s fine. It’s true, anyhow.”
It was hereditary. Your grandmother left her children when things got too hard. Your mother gave you up for a period of time, passing you around from relative to relative while she got her shit together. Then there was you, getting knocked up unexpectedly and running off from the only man who truly loved you. After eighteen hours of agonizing labor, when the nurses plopped a pale and howling newborn on your chest, something clicked. You decided that for now, you were done running. You would be the mother to Bailey that your mother wasn’t for you and that your grandmother wasn’t to her children.
Telling Boone was a part of your plan, it really was but between work and raising Bailey, there wasn’t much time left to ruminate on how to notify him that he was a father after all these years. Not after the way it ended.
You were waitressing at a diner near campus during that time. You were trying to keep up with school but it proved more difficult than you could imagine. You and Boone moved hastily into a studio apartment, despite your mother’s warnings. The two of you were in love. What’s true love compared to anything else?  Boone dropped out after freshman year, promising that his work with Tyler would catapult you two into a better situation. Just give me some time, he’d say. You did. You met Boone when you were 19. At that point, you’d turn 22, become a dropout and nothing had changed.
The straw that broke the camel's back was coming home after a long shift at the diner to find an eviction notice on your door. It had been Boone’s responsibility to give the rent check to your landlord so you were very shocked to find out that Boone hadn’t delivered the last two.
When you confronted him about where the money had gone, fearful that he began using drugs or developed a gambling addiction, he reluctantly told you that he was developing a tornado tracking device and that the money was needed for a prototype. You ran to the kitchen sink to vomit, told him that you’d save the conversation for later and went to bed.
You and your belongings were gone when he woke up the next morning.
Bailey claps her hands together, signaling that she was done with food. She points at the paper plate. “Trash?”
“Yes, baby, trash. You can put it in there by yourself, mommy can see you from here.”
Scrunching her eyebrows in deep concentration, Bailey wanders back over near the condiments table, making sure not to run this time.
“She’s pretty smart for a tiny person.” Boone notes.
“She is! My mom has been good with her. I think she benefits from spending time with her more than I do. It’s like she gets a second chance at raising a kid.”
Boone gazes at you, brown eyes pooled over with acute affection. “I’d like to maybe get a second chance at being there for you. The both of you. If you’ll have me, of course.”
Remember, you’re done running.
You smirk and attempt to smother down the heat rising to your cheeks. Boone mirrors your expression before it completely drops.
You frown, nervous that you said or did the wrong thing. “Boone?”
He stands to his feet abruptly, eyes darting across the dark skyline behind you. The air becomes still, the miniscule hairs rising along your arms and neck. A sensation you were all too familiar with.
You stand next to Boone on shaky legs, blinking your eyes rapidly to try and force them to adjust to the night sky, to see what he sees.
Thunder rumbles in the distance, lighting illuminating the terrifying reality you were about to come face to face with.
A twister.
“Boone! We gotta move! NOW!” Tyler’s voice roars out from behind you. The crowds surrounding you all begin to panic and scatter, the warning siren screeching violently.
You instinctively reach out to grab for Bailey but realize she isn’t there.
You spin in a circle, heartbeat rising erratically. Within a blink of an eye, your baby was gone. You could hear Boone repeating your name frantically, tugging on your arm, begging you to move but you couldn’t. You weren’t leaving without Bailey.
“She’s gone.” you whimper, hands flying over your mouth. “I lost her, Boone!”
He turns to look at his crew. “Go! I’ll catch up.”
“You fucking better!” Lily screams.
Boone turns to you, grasping your face with his hands. “Darlin’, we’re gonna find her, ok? We just can’t stand here cause if we do, we’re gonna die.”
You choke out a cry.
“Ok, ok! Die may not be the best word to use but it will not be good!”
He grabs you and the two of you run deeper into the carnival, calling out for Bailey. It felt useless, given the sheer amount of screams and bodies that were furiously scattering all around you. The wind picks up and scatters debris every which way, game stalls and food stands being ripped from the ground.
“Watch out!” you shout, shifting Boone out of the way of a falling dunk tank. The water rushes towards you, sweeping away a few who were not fast enough to dodge it.
“There!” he points and you follow the direction of his finger. Across the way is Bailey, standing by a water fountain, crying.
You both push your way through the frenzy, dropping at your knees to assess your daughter. Outside of sporting a few cuts and bruises, she was fine.
“Come on baby girl, we go to go!”
Bailey shakes her head furiously, planting her feet firmly in the ground. “I’m scared!”
You try to lift her into your arms but it’s no use, she won’t move. Boone tickles at her stomach to get her attention.
“You ever heard of a spider monkey before?” He asks.
Bailey shakes her head.
“So, they’re these freaky little monkeys, you know, with long legs and tails. They run around on each other like backpacks. You think you can climb on my back and pretend to be a spider monkey?”
Boone makes a few monkey noises, scratching underneath his chin. This elicits a small grin from Bailey and she gives in. Once secured to Boone, the three of you take off in the direction of the community college building, where people are taking shelter.
The tornado is unrelenting as it closes in on the parking lot, cutting power lines and sucking up everything in its path. The forceful winds tug at the sloppily put together mini ferris wheel right in front of you, the metal groaning in weak protest before it topples over, crushing a family underneath it. It blocks your clear exit to the building.
“We’re not gonna make it in time.” Boone announces.
“What are we gonna do?”
Boone scans the area with precise expertise, like a dog on the scent. It doesn’t take long before he’s taking your hand and leading you to a grassy area.
“There!” He points to an adjacent neighborhood, noticing a ditch in front of a small house. It wasn’t the best idea but given the situation, it was the only choice you had.
You dodge a few abandoned cars, trying to be mindful of your steps. Boone is gentle as he removes Bailey from her position and hands her over to you, instructing you to get in the ditch first.
“Bailey, I need you to hold on to me and keep your eyes closed, understand?”
You feel her nod against your chest. Boone hops in after you, shielding your body with his. The tornado whistles as it finally reaches you, the sound causing you to grind your teeth and squeeze your eyes shut. You don’t dare move until Boone releases his hold on you.
The place was wrecked to hell. Overturned cars, ripped carnival games, fallen trees. Years worth of reconstruction that only took seconds to destroy. It was a reason why you wanted to leave, why you wanted to raise Bailey elsewhere. You didn’t want to have to constantly expose her to such harsh weather but let’s face it, you’re a southern girl at heart. If it wasn’t a tornado, it would be a hurricane, flood or worse.
The best you could do is prepare her for this life and there was no one else better to help than Boone.
Tumblr media
TWO YEARS LATER.
“You sure about this?” your mother asks you for the millionth time.
“Nope,” you sigh. “But it’s his day, he’s a professional and I trust him.”
Your mother scoffs, patting you on the back. “Lying to yourself. Like a good mother should. Bailey! Hurry up, your father is going to be here any minute.”
Bailey comes rushing down the stairs, dressed in a similar fashion to Boone. You give her a once over, smoothing down her wild hair. “Are you excited?”
“Mhm!” Bailey hums, bouncing up and down on her feet. “I’m gonna be a storm chaser!”
“Oh, brother.” you mumble, voice drowned out by the thumping bass of country music, a signifier that Boone had arrived.
You open up the door to reveal Tyler’s truck, Boone hopping out the passenger side before the vehicle could even be put in park.
“Monkey!” Boone yells, Bailey darting out from behind you and out the door, straight into her fathers arms. He wrestles her around, mindful not to overdo it while you are watching.
The horn sounds off and Tyler pops his head out from the driver seat as he waves to you, Lily and Dexter’s coming out from the back. You cringe at the ear splitting noise and wave back, knowing you were definitely going to get shit from the neighbors.
Boone walks up to you and presses a small kiss on your cheek. “Hey hot mama. I promise to have her back before dinner.”
You stare at him sternly, lips pressed into a thing line. “And?”
Boone groans playfully. “I promise not to let her ride shotgun, use Lily’s drone, have her within 1,000 feet of a tornado, alcohol or Tyler’s groupies.”
“Very good, thank you.” You pinch Bailey’s cheeks, smiling at her fondly. “Behave, the both of you.
“Yes ma’am.” they answer in unison.
You lean against the railings of your porch, watching as Boone helps Bailey into the backseat. Your arrangement wasn’t perfect but for now, it worked. You were still trying to figure out how to best repair your relationship and you felt it necessary to take things slow, get to know one another again as you eased back into things. Romantic feelings lingered but you wanted to make sure that you put Bailey first. She’d be the most hurt out of everyone if this didn’t go well.
Boone had adjusted quite nicely to being a father in his own way, full of quirks and surprises as always. It was nice having him around again after not seeing him for so long and you would do everything in your power to make things work.
“Hey!” you call out to Boone as he climbs back into the passenger seat.
Boone stops midway. “Yeah?”
“...I love you.”
Boone’s smile nearly splits his face in half. Tyler pretends to gag. He revs the engine and pulls out of the yard delicately, cranking up the speed down the residential street like a bat out of hell once out of your line of view.
You weren’t sure how you felt about being back in the saddle with Boone but you knew you had more confidence this go round.
Besides, it wasn’t like it was your first rodeo.

So I’m only on episode 150 of Detective Conan and I mean obviously we know that Gin and Vodka were at Tropical Land for ✨Big Criminal Activity✨ but like… that doesn’t explain?? Why they were on the roller coaster??? Before that??
Like I hope they never explain it because currently I’m living with the full belief that these two very scary very powerful turbo criminals who are shown to be the most intimidating motherfuckers ever(tm) had a pre-crime conversation and decided to go to the amusement park at least an hour and a half early to go on a roller coaster in full black trench coats. Just for fun.
Girl that is so funny, like later we’re definitely going to do a drug deal or something and maybe commit teenager homicide but first I think we might have enough time to sneak a couple of rides in and eat a churro. Maybe do that balloon popping game if we’re lucky. Fucking incredible. Iconic as hell. No one correct me if this isn’t true I do NOT want to know.

Is it possible to fall in love with a woman after they had just murdered someone?
For Michael Afton, the answer is yes.
Months ago during the beginning of the semester, Michael wasn’t always great at making friends. Even though this was university, it felt like high school again, where he remained an outcast and was reluctant to be involved with the student body, college clubs, or majority of big events like football games. He was academically focused; the typical nerdy student majoring in engineering. Always studying by himself in the library and sometimes tutoring other students so he could earn some money on the side. Back then he realized that having friends or even being in a relationship was the least of his priorities.
But it wasn’t until he first laid his eyes on you.
You were so beautiful. Also an inquisitive, scholarly student with good grades, staying on top of your classes, and involved with many extra curriculars. As badly as he wanted to talk to you, he viewed you as way out of his league. Always keeping in touch with your friend groups on campus and focusing on the clubs and committees you joined. There was never a chance for Michael to even be with you. So to avoid rejection and humiliation, he’d rather keep his crush a little secret, admiring and fantasizing about you from afar.
When October came around and a big Halloween party was taking place, Michael was invited by one of the students he was tutoring. He wasn’t the best at social gatherings and has never been to college parties, but the only reason he came was because you were attending as well. And that the first time he ever drank and slightly withdrew from his comfort zone from the alcohol, talking to people from campus and collecting all the courage to talk to you.
That night, however, you were busy with another man. A man that Michael has never seen before. Spending a lot of time together, dancing, drinking, and always leaving the vicinity together… As much as Michael wanted to admit that he was jealous deep down, he forced himself to move on. He’d always believed that there was no way in Hell that he was going to have a chance with you that time.
“…Hey, has anybody seen Y/N?”
A few hours later into the party the question started floating in the air, suddenly capturing Michael’s attention. The thought of you had completely slipped his mind as he started drinking more throughout the night until you were back to being his main focus. Recalling the last time he’s seen you was with that man he assumed doesn’t attend the university. As he lingered in his thoughts, his skin started crawl.
Suspicion. Piercing curiosity. An urge to look for you and make sure you were safe.
A handful of your friends were looking everywhere in the house for you as Michael decided to investigate outside. Even though he was outside of campus and wasn’t that familiar with the outskirts, he didn’t stop searching until he could find you that night. He searched until the path at his feet faded and lead into the dark woods, the verdant greens diminishing to sullen brown, as if he was entering forbidden territory. But it wasn’t until he noticed red.
A blood trail.
That mystifying Halloween night, right in the heart of the forest where danger and terror lurks, is the first time Michael saw a dead man’s body and his guts hideously torn apart, messy spikes of fresh blood splattered everywhere. The whole scene looked impossible for a rabid animal to even do that. But it wasn’t until he found you, on your knees and sitting on your ankles beside the corpse, blood draped all over your face, chin, and then your naked body.
And when your gaze flickered onto Michael, in your eyes he can sense longing, pining, regret, terror… a tumultuous storm surging in your mind, piercing right through him. He could’ve ran. He could’ve screamed that night. He should’ve been horrified by the scene in the first place. But every fiber of his fell frozen like he was in a surrendering state; placating, patient, consoling. Only for you. A rapport had already formed right there and then, right under the luminous moon…
“Help me, Michael…”
And just as you were about to collapse on the ground, he rushed over to hold your body in his arms, not caring about the dead man or the blood all over his hands and clothes. He only cared about you. A wave of relief may have washed over him, but he was taken over by this strange, formidable urgency to protect you. To be there for you. To cherish you with such powerful tenderness, nurturing you in such a delicate, vulnerable state.
That was the night you and Michael finally bonded. That special Halloween night you found each other. Comprehending the fact that you were a newborn succubus— the deadliest, macabre, and wanton creature to ever exist... Knowing that you eat men, feed off their flesh, and reap on them with sexual dreams and nightmares, suddenly lead him to a mind-blowing discovery…
Michael had fallen in love with you.
In just a year later, you two were official. A perfect boyfriend and girlfriend for each other, basking in a healthy, loving, long-term relationship. With Michael knowing what you’re capable of as a succubus, he never held it against you; especially finding out the dark and twisted origin of how you became a succubus… He still loves you, cherishes you, and will forever stay loyal to you. Dating you because you’re you was just what he wanted ever since the beginning of college. And even though there were various things he has to adapt to in this relationship, he never complained. He would sacrifice anything for you, including his time to skip class just so you two can have sex.
But for a very good reason.
During the first few months of his new relationship, he had to deal with your bloodlust. You would tend to be ravenous, feral, murderous, literally barbaric for man blood and flesh, for that was your only appetite as a newborn. Michael knew what he was getting into, knew that him ending up being killed and eaten by you one day would be inevitable just to keep yourself alive and beautiful. As cautious and wary as ever, he’d keep his distance as he was in desperate search for another way to satisfy your hunger besides murdering anyone. Then finally, he came to the conclusion that a succubus like his girlfriend can also thrive and feed off sexual energy. A perfect solution for your diet without anybody getting hurt and keeping you alive.
Having sex with you everyday and night didn’t even feel like a strict routine or sex ritual. Michael had you for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Even dessert. Nothing about this felt like a necessity just to keep you around forever; he really wanted to satisfy you deep down as long as you consented. And as the months passed by, perhaps deep down he was also a freaky sex demon that takes pleasure in pleasuring his beautiful girlfriend. A man possessed and bewitched by your ethereal presence, he’d make you feel various levels of pleasure and pain as he explores the regions of your body that you never knew existed— finding your weaknesses, turning them into his strengths, and then seducing you with them...
As goes for you, who trained yourself to only feed off the insatiable, wanton lust you have for Michael. You always find a human man like him weaving into your brain, coursing through your veins like you were downing a drug. Every second you see each other at school, your hearts pound as hard as the bed you shared in your new apartment rattles, feasting upon your lusts as if there were no more morrows. Michael had undying, blooming love for you— and you wallowed in his love like draping a warm blanket over you during cold Winter nights.
Halloween was right around the corner again. It was soon to be your one year anniversary, and though Michael had many, many plans on celebrating with you, one of them was going to this huge Halloween party just thirty minutes away from campus. But it wasn’t just some ordinary house party with spooky Halloween decor lazily thrown around and bowls of fruit punch and alcohol scattered on a kitchen island— this was a hardcore Halloween party with over 300 guests attending. Way more people, way more alcohol, and way more attractions than just music to dance to— there were rumors of a famous live band performing, people hosting escape rooms, haunted houses, and other cool horror-related shit that Michael couldn’t wait to experience with you.
It was an hour before the party. The two of you were at your apartment getting your costumes ready, since Halloween costumes were part of the dress code for this party. If you weren’t dressed, you weren’t allowed in.
“Are you… Jason Voorhees?” you marveled, passing by Michael standing in front of the body mirror putting on the iconic hockey mask.
Michael chuckled. “Yeah. Since we had a Friday the 13th this year... I just found this at Spirit Halloween and decided why not. What are you gonna be, hm?”
“Well, it’s a little basic…” You did some cute poses in front of the mirror in your costume; a cropped white puffer jacket with faux fur on the edges of your hood, a denim skirt, red laced stockings, and then fake blood splattered all over. “It was also last minute, so I just threw on some stuff to look like Jennifer Check from Jennifer’s Body.”
“Basic? You look beautiful,” he complimented as he stared at your reflection in the mirror, turning around to hold your waist. “The costume is also ironic. I love that. You ready to go?”
“Yeah. Let’s go before parking gets full.”
The thirty minute drive at night wasn’t that bad. You and Michael’s adrenaline started to rush in when luminous rays of colorful lights and fog were seen from a far distance behind the shadowy trees. There were so, so many people that Michael couldn’t even recognize. Some weren’t even students that attended the university. You were surfing through the crowd with him never letting go of your hand, everybody around dancing outdoors as the excitement buzzes around in this rave-like party. Spectrums within the bass-boosted music, the sound waves pulsing in your heart. In the air, you could immediately take in strong various drugs and alcohol invading your senses. You could hear the rustle of costumes, glasses clinking, people talking and laughing, and feel the whimsical energy flowing around.
You and Michael decided to drink and dance together, the dizzying lights and alcohol making you fall through space and only take in his face. As the ecstasy flowed in your bloodstream beyond all measure like a storm of electric emotion, your pupils dilating as you were filled with this hazy sweetness-like sensation. Maybe it was the alcohol, but you always felt this way for your own boyfriend; becoming a victim to your own deadly, rapacious desire, enlaved to the rhythm of such unquenchable fire.
Together on the dance floor, Michael kept caressing your waist as you kept moving your body on his. He cupped your face, lips meeting together and something like fire and passion ignited within your ribs, urging each other to deepen the kiss. As if the alcohol couldn’t intoxicate you more, Michael was all that you needed in your hazy, drunken world. You needed him more than ever. You wanted to sneak off and find some place private for the both of you. God, you were feeling so needy for him deep down that Michael already knew…
"…Thank you for having us tonight. It's so good to be here with y'all!" somebody exulted into the microphone on the stage nearby. "I hope y'all enjoy and have a happy fuckin' Halloween!"
The elated crowd cheers again as the drummer counts off with the sticks and the electric guitar riffs take over your ears. For some odd reason, the man’s voice that started singing sounded vaguely familiar to you. You couldn’t quite put your finger on it, but there’s a part of you that recognizes a voice like that…
With the heated moment between you and Michael now disrupted by the band performing, you both turn your heads towards the stage where the crowd started to increase. Still holding each other’s hands, your eyes weaved through the back of people’s heads and tried to see who was performing. The electronic punk riffs sounded incredibly vibrant, thrilling everybody in the rave. Dark red spotlights, increased fog from the machines, and the clashing of the drums and other electric instruments overpowering your ears… Even the music sounded familiar to you— this was a genre that you used to listen to, after all.
“Do you wanna stay and watch?” you hear Michael yell out, clutching your hand tighter.
Somehow the question flew over your head as if you were distracted and overstimulated at the same time. As if you were drawn into the hypnotizing performance, there was an odd feeling of curiosity weighing down on your shoulders. The set up, the music, the energy, the singer’s voice… was it deja vu? You were slightly emerged, as if you unadjusted from this atmosphere, and the more Michael studied your curiosity, the more he became concerned.
When the silhouettes of tall heads blocking your view parted for a few minutes, you could finally see the singer. And the moment you scrutinized his appearance, it felt as if the world around you slowed down.
His face heightened every nerve of your body, as if you were just electrocuted by the most hazardous downed powerline. You were in utter bewilderment and horror of everything that you took in, numerous daunting flashbacks running in your head. You held your breath as you relived a traumatic memory from last Halloween; the night you were reborn as a succubus… You had no idea if these were your memories— Hell, it felt like a past life regression coursing every fiber of your being. But for the first time in a long time, terror and fright seized you completely.
“That— that singer…” you drawled, eyes widening every second in horror.
Michael furrowed his brows from not being able to hear you, leaning his ear closer to you. “Wait, what?”
You remembered. You remembered everything.
That last night of your perfect life where everything felt so surreal— being noticed by your long admired idol. A diabolical, sinister plan disguised as an innocent groupie love, where you were betrayed, drugged, kidnapped, and murdered.
The fire. The alcohol. The party. The groupie sex.
His words. His threats. His intentions. His greedy thirst for fame.
The night where he cut out your heart and sacrificed you to the devil. The night when you woke up hours later with a repulsive thirst for flesh on your tongue. The night you were reborn as a succubus, killing the first innocent man you ever saw who was just camping alone in the woods…
It was him. It was really him.
With your eyes welling with tears, your mind started to scream at you. You wanted revenge. You wanted to fucking kill him. Your anger and surging vengeance ignited a dangerous flame taking over you like a goddamn baptism. Your mind turns darker than black as every painful memory rips through you. This was the night he will finally die— and you didn’t give a fucking damn about how many witnesses there will be for his death.
“Babe? Are you—“
Letting go of Michael’s hand before he could comprehend it, you were already out of the crowd and lurking in the shadows with your enhanced speed. Part of you wanted to make that man’s death public. But part of you wanted to take things the old fashioned way, luring him backstage and devouring his soul right back into Hell where he belonged.
But your insatiable lust for flesh and blood mixed with your rage had you impatient and ravenous. It’s been so, so long since you’ve ate a man. And for a valid reason, you were hysterical and feverish to finally eat one on Halloween again. Make that man die a slow, painful, agonizing death as you tie him up in the woods and tear apart each and every one of his organs and guts. You were back to your old roots of being a vicious, wild succubus who lacks control of your hunger.
Michael had to weave through the crowd desperately looking everywhere for you, sometimes pushing other people and mistaking some as you by accident because of your costume. When the song was finally over and he could see entire stage clearly, the band was making their way off and the crowd finally became loose again. He still couldn’t find you anywhere. He started panicking, making his way inside the estate to search.
Inside the estate, there was a private dressing room for the band where they kept their instruments and other possessions. You were there, waiting by the locked door, hearing the men laughing and conversing with each other. But the lead singer’s voice reverberating in the room sounded like nails to a chalkboard to you, your blood boiling every time he chuckles and gets all excited about bullshit. That man doesn’t get to laugh. He doesn’t deserve this kind of talent. You kept fantasizing about ripping out his voice box with your own bare hands, clawing at his throat like a goddamn vice.
Blending with the shadows to taunt them, you find your way inside and locked the door. The men were behind a huge curtain where they couldn’t see you, still laughing and drinking together. Such fickle souls, perfect to be tormented alone in a dismal night like this. As much as you wanted the lead singer gone, you couldn’t help but take predatory thrill in agonizing the rest of the men that was soon to face the worse demise. Maybe they weren’t all that innocent, either. They could add in to the main course for the night.
You decided to do this the old fashioned way, stripping off your puffer jacket, crop top, skirt, stockings, and shoes. You wanted to feel their splattering crimson blood all over your bare skin. Wearing nothing but a matching bra and panty set, you stayed behind the curtain and cleared your throat.
“Excuse me? Can you gentlemen help me with something, please?”
All of them suddenly stop talking at the sound of your coaxing, provocative, coy voice behind the curtain. You sauntered your way towards them, all of them holding their breaths in star struck silence, admiring your devilish beauty and stunning body. All doe-eyed, slothful, yearning, making eye contact with all five males. That glimmer in your eyes that makes a man lose his mind like your boyfriend…
“Woah. Didn’t know we got a groupie for tonight,” one of the men chuckled, their disgusting eyes that deserves to be gouged out staring at you from head to toe.
“How can we help you, miss?” said the lead singer, your nose involuntarily flaring in furtive anger at him.
“Well… if you wanna come behind the curtains here, I have something I’d like to show all of you. A gift from your biggest fan.”
The dumb men easily fell into your trap, following you behind the curtain only for them to realize you disappeared. Eyebrows furrowing, some baffled by where the hell you just went. But you were hanging right above on the high ceiling, like a predatory creature on all fours, using your succubus powers to fuck with the lights and make them flicker until they’re in the dark.
“Hey, what’s going on?”
“Why’s the door locked? I can’t fucking open it!”
“Goddamnit. We’re stuck in here! Where the hell is that bitch?”
It’s been so long since you’ve utilized your tentacles. With a disturbing screech and growl, your wings that you finally let free transfigured into slimy tentacles that snatched the men and threw them across the room one by one, leaving the lead singer alone on purpose. You grinned widely from hearing them scream, curse, and panic in a room where no one could find them nor hear them. Your tentacles shove right into their mouths, silencing them forever until you were ready to eat them for later. And when you left the singer in prolonged, tense silence, you can feel the rapid, erratic beating of his heart that was soon to be gone…
“I went through Hell and came back… to finally kill you.”
For the past ten minutes, you weren’t answering your phone. Michael searched most of the estate, underestimating how big and maze-like the structure of the place was that he literally got lost. But when he was passing by a group of girls coming from the restroom, he overheard a conversation that immediately caught his attention.
“…yeah, but I was a little shy to go inside the dressing room. Flirt With Death always has groupies in there fucking or something…”
It all finally registered in Michael’s brain. Why you suddenly ran away, why you’re nowhere to be found. He was disappointed in himself for not realizing earlier, not even recognizing the band playing that was right in front of his eyes. He decided to turn into another narrow hallway where there were few people, running through each room with panic as he was still looking for you. When he found a dressing room that was apparently locked, he looked for any objects or furniture nearby that could barge open the door.
Don’t fucking tell me you did it, Y/N…
He grabbed a heavy chair, smashing it several times on the door knob to break it. He knew that he was damaging property, but he did not give a shit. The party was loud enough to block the banging sounds. Nobody was around, there were not even any cameras that he could detect in the ceiling. But he kept jamming and jamming the knob until it finally broke off, hastily shoving the door open. And the moment he noticed the room was dark and quiet, he immediately knew.
“And If I ever find the people that did this to me, I want to kill them...” He recalled your words from a year ago when you told him the truth. “And you can’t stop me, Michael. They deserve to rot in Hell for this...”
You actually fucking did it.
When Michael switched on the lights, the entire dressing room was a wretched mess covered in blood. On the walls, on the floor, some splattered onto the ceiling… It was the scene of a fucking massacre. As if a giant bucket of blood spilled and flooded the entire place. He held his breath and his eyes widened in horror, scanning the corpses with all their guts and organs hideously torn apart and some spilling out, laying in a pool of fresh crimson blood.
His gaze slowly drifted to you in the middle of the room— your wings were spread, your eyes were a different color, and your half-naked body was completely draped in fresh blood. You were feeding on the man that you told him about, the man you’ve been wanting to kill for the longest; plunging to the depths of his rufescent flesh.
“…Babe?” Michael uttered, ever so slowly and cautiously ambling closer to you. You hissed at him and bared your fangs, immediately halting a few feet away from you in underlying fear.
You took a few moments to recognize Michael’s face, trying so hard to fight the urge of accidentally eating him as well. You were slowly coming down from your frenzied, blood lust state, your sharpened eyes scanning the bloody room. The band that became famous from the lead singer selling his soul is now dead. His diabolic soul finally rotting in Hell where he belongs…
Michael inched closer, watching the way your eyes turn back to its normal color and your wings closing. “Come. Let’s go home,” your loving boyfriend insisted, holding out his hand. “I’ll wash you up and then I’ll order us something to eat.”
Holding onto him and letting him cover you up with his jacket and his arm around you, it felt as if the raging and feral tides of your soul were finally at rest. His love for you was like floating in a warm pool of warm honey and velvet; you enthralled in this beautiful rhythm of sensations that fill your energies. Leaning over to give you a gentle, reassuring kiss that was so soft, so plush, a reminder that you belong to each other forever and nothing else in this world matters.
Because when you got home that night, Michael completely forgot about washing you up and instead pressed you against the door just to kiss you. Your lungs filling with wicked lust, bodies melting together like caramel as your needy desires take over. Not even waiting a fraction of a second to settle down at home, he couldn’t fucking wait any longer. And you couldn’t either…
“Mm— Michael,” you sighed out. “I thought you were… we were gonna…”
“Shh, shh. I’m gonna take care of you, I promise. But… after seeing you tonight like that, I— I feel like something awakened in me, or… fuck, I just want you right now…”
You chuckled. “Awakened something in you?”
As much as Michael wanted to admit it, he was ashamed. “Nah, forget it. C’mon, let’s shower together.”
“Uh-uh. I’m not gonna go until you tell me.”
Michael had to mentally prepare before cringing at his own words. Recollecting himself and trying not to make things awkward, he pursed his lips and finally confessed. “Ugh, fine... When I saw your, uh— tentacles… I just thought about, you know— if you could tie me up with them?”
Never in your years of living as a succubus had a filthy, raunchy idea like this ever cross your mind. But were you opposed to it? Deep down, you were turned on by it. Tying Michael to one of your dining chairs, his wrists bound behind him as you straddled on top and teased him with your tentacles. As you kept kissing him and grinding on his thigh, one of your tentacles were wrapped around his hard cock, stroking it simultaneously that his precum was already leaking. Hearing his cute moans and whimpers gradually get louder, struggling to kiss back or try to touch you when he forgot he was tied up… you were so turned on that you kept struggling to kiss back as well.
He will never stop recalling the time when he first saw you in your succubus form, the time when something shifted within him. Not only was he turned on by your hot physical appearance as a maneating demon, but by your feral, wild, vicious behavior of ripping apart men and eating them greedily. He felt inclined to obey you, and only you; like holding him captive and chaining him up tight in the dark, making him quiver and gasp for every unobtainable breath of air. Ruin him, hurt him, mark him, corrupt him, just fucking use him for your pleasure…
As you kept riding him and stroking him, the tip of your noses press against each other in the heat of the moment. His jaw was slackened and his brows were furrowed from the white-hot waves of sensation coursing in his body.
“Fuck, Y/N— you’re so… God, I love you. I fucking love you.”
“I love you, too,” you cooed sweetly in his ear, hearing him respond with a slutty groan when you increased the pace. He involuntarily bucks his hips into the grip of your slimy tentacles, throwing his head back and clenching his fists tighter.
“I’m not gonna last, babe. I’m not gonna last— I need you to ride me, please. Please sit on my dick. I’m begging you, Y/N— God, I need to cum inside you…”
Michael's pleads were so adorable to you, it would be absolutely ruthless to deny his orgasm like that. There was just something so beautiful about a man pleading to you if he could cum inside you; something so irresistible about hearing the urgency with which he begs for permission.
“Aw, look at you. So fucking needy for me,” you teased as the tentacle stroking his aching cock slipped away. “Once you come, I’m not gonna stop riding you... You have to fucking take it.”
After hearing your words, Michael felt like he was gonna fucking explode. He was shattered. His stomach was tied up in knots the moment you planted yourself on his cock with all your weight, throwing his head back in such euphoria. His face flushed red as he watched you ride him, his cock disappearing into your pussy like magic and then reappearing much more wet and slick. He wanted to fucking touch you so bad. He wanted to adjust himself so he could thrust up into you and slap your ass like he’d always do. But with you in complete control over him, he was in a fucking bliss— his orgasm was building up already without a warning.
“Fuck, fuck… I’m so close, Y/N.”
Dizzy with desire, you felt as if you were getting closer as well as you kept riding on his dick. You can feel himself throbbing as he could feel you pulsing around him. Your fingernails were digging onto his skin, drawing your mouth closer to his and kissing him while parting away just to moan pathetically. Your thighs started to twitch, and your body thundered with tension and neediness. Every goddamn thrust and movement of your hips had you seeing stars. It was hard to pinpoint the differences between your bloodlust frenzy and your sexual frenzy— both of them had your hunger consumed and your body ablaze…
“Oh my God… Keep fucking riding me like that. You enjoy bouncing on my cock like a hot little slut, huh?”
“I’m— I’m the one that’s supposed— supposed to tease you like that, fuck,” you whined out, immediately cut off by him kissing you and humming in your mouth.
“At least I can think straight when I’m fucking you. Whenever you come— ah, fuck— you always go so dumb on my cock.”
“Oh? But you love when I do that. Just keep thinking about… the times you fucked me so hard that, I— I lost my mind…”
“You’re gonna come, Y/N. I can already tell. Fuck, I wish I can fuck up into you right now so I can pound that pretty fucking pussy…”
You tried so hard not to give him the satisfaction so quick, but your body had already betrayed you. Your lips clashed with his in urgency as too many sensations hit you all at once. As you kept bouncing your ass on him, the sounds of sticky skin clapping together slowed down as you felt that erratic pounding in your pussy and the feeling of Michael’s cum shooting inside you and pooling down onto the base of his dick. His forehead falls onto yours, shutting his eyes as you both sat there for a few minutes collecting your breaths. You let the tentacles release him so he could finally hold you and run his hands all over you, keep you in place just so you could cockwarm him.
Your softened eyes meet with his, prompting you to smile at how cute he looks. His eyes glittered like he was smitten, madly in love, the same expression he always makes every morning when you wake up. After a couple of ardent kisses, the two of you just didn’t feel like moving yet.
“So. I hope you enjoyed our anniversary so far,” Michael chuckled. “Especially after you finally got your revenge. That was fucking badass.”
You mirrored his chuckle, smirking in amusement as you kept replaying the scenes in your head of murdering the men. “You still haven’t cleaned me up yet, you know.”
“Yeah… but if we were to shower together right now, you know damn well we’re gonna go for round two. Maybe three, four, or five…”
“Then what are we waiting for…?”

i work at a theme park, so every day i see dads with their little kids carrying them, giving them a high five, lifting them when there’s a parade so they can see ☹️✨ it makes me so happy, it makes me think of the boysss. how would they be in a theme park as parents? you can do only the one-four-one boys if you want to
I see Price as the dad getting all the compliments when he's out with his child(ren), ranging from how darling they are, how calm and well-behaved they are, how at ease he is with them, and oh, is he seeing someone? Currently? Right in front of you and your funnel cake...?
Soap is the dad who 110% does just about everything with his wee little ones. Scared to get on that one ride? S'okay, he's right there with ya. Want that one toy in that game? Sure thing, he'll win it for them. That one dickhead dad and his kid cut in front of Soap and his own? Best believe he'll fight for his and his wee one's honor.
Gaz and his kid(s) are the ones who really go for the food so they'll be trying just about anything they can, honestly. Oh, and the games! They like a good game. As a whole, they tend to stay FAR away from the mascots and clowns. Once Gaz was dared to go on the highest roller coaster in the park by his kid(s) and daredevil that he can be sometimes, um... we'll leave it at that.
Ghost is the dad his kid(s) use to carry the stuffed animals won so he's almost always walking out of the theme park with an arm full of them. Is usually seen standing to the side, arms crossed, and keeping his eye on you and the little ones as you wait in line to get on a ride or grab food or whatever. Will also have his kids on his shoulders or in his arms, too, if they want to see the parade.
Rudy is the mom dad who keeps water, sunscreen, and a park map on hand; if you and he split up so you can take the kids to do their thing, it's check-ups galore via the cell and a designated meet-up spot to reconvene.
Alejandro and his children are just there to have fun. He's the dad whose kids make him get a caricature drawing that you will frame and hang up at home, some face painting done, and it's pictures galore. Too many to count but it's worth it to him. He remembers you and your children's smiles and laughter the best.
Köthulhu and his Köthulhi may or may not give the mascots hell. Probably. As a dare. Which earns him and the kids a stern look from you. But really, you all use Mount Königmanjaro as the personal crowd-parter guy because he's massive, you use him to win those dart balloon games, and you make him stand in line for food or something when you have to step out to attend to the kids because... who gone check him?

,, is that seat (=are you) taken? ”

IN WHICH jake’s being forced by his friends to sit on a roller coaster next to a pretty girl he saw in the amusement park.
non-idol!jake X fem!reader | g fluff , crack(?) | wc 1.3k+ | w second hand embarrassment , mentions of food , clowns , scary rides. | not proofread | ✎ ᝰ (‘a note from jo’) . i thought about this while being in my favorite amusement park! the ending is so bad honestly im so sorry in advance
Tumblr media
it was an event day at the amusement park, people such as influencers and wealthy families were invited to enjoy the scary rides and free food.
“please, i can’t go there alone!” your friend begged you for hours. “no way! you know how scared i am of rides!” you scoffed.
“i’ll be with you on every ride i promise!” at this point she was already holding your hand while kneeling. “fine”
“jake! you promised you’ll come with us!” his friend jay claimed, “promised when? i can’t remember that part” jake shrugged.
“that one bet we made and you lost then begged us to spare you” sunghoon who was busy playing on his phone suddenly spoke, “we let you off under one condition which is to come with us to an amusement park”
jake rolled his eyes, “please don’t force me to-“ “a deal is a deal” jay pat jake’s shoulder.
you stood by the gate, lots of clowns and food tracks were exactly on the entrance, “i’ll just stick here with the clowns and the food” your legs took you to that way, but your friend was quick enough to stop you.
“no way” she dragged you, “we’ll be going to the viking first!”
“i hate you for making me do that” you said as the safety bars went down, “you’ll enjoy it don’t worry”
you sat at the right end, you’re faced to those who sit in the opposite side. there were three handsome boys, each one of them is more scared than the other.
the boy on the left looked so done while the other two grabbed each other tightly while shouting.
“jake! stop grabbing onto me you have sunghoon on your other side who’s just as scared as you!” you heard one of them shout.
the boy in the middle, which you assumed was jake, kept laughing while sticking to the other boy, which you assumed was sunghoon.
the three of them looked really cute, but jake is the one that caught your eye. especially his “please stop!” shouts and the fact that right afterwards he proceeds to laugh and rest his head on his friend’s shoulders is what made you smile without even noticing.
“y/n is everything okay?” your friend asked you while the ride kept on going—you completely forgot about that part.
“yes im fine!” you shout back. you took her hand and held her tight, “don’t make me do that thing ever again!” you added while shouting nonstop.
your friend couldn’t stop laughing at your cuteness, and apparently, she wasn’t the only one.
the boy who was sitting on the opposite side glanced at you, you were so cute and adorable to look at.
while being freaked out, he took a few moments to stare at you. you were busy shouting and tightly closing your eyes while he completely forgot about the fact that’s he’s sitting in one of the rides that he hates the most.
he giggled and chuckled to himself looking at your annoyed figured while your friend was busy laughing at you.
“finally! this hell is over” you whined but your friend only smirked, “let’s go to that roller coaster!” she pointed at the scary looking ride.
you gulped heavily, getting all stressed and worked up, “no!” you shout.
your friend however, couldn’t care less.
“jake what was that on the ride?” sunghoon asked him. “what do you mean?” he tilt his head in confusion.
“you couldn’t stop staring at the girl that was sitting at the opposite direction!” jay claimed.
“she was pretty cute” he admitted and giggled. jay and sunghoon looked at each other with a wide smirk on their face.
“you got yourself an amusement park crush” jay put his hand over jake’s shoulder, “is that even a thing-“
“let’s follow them to the next ride” sunghoon dragged both of them after cutting jake.
your friend excitedly jumped up and down as you were waiting in the short line while you glared at her, fiercely shooting your imaginary laser eyes on her cheerful face.
“we’re going to have so much fun!” she clapped.
you were too busy to whine and scoff to notice someone was actually talking to your friend from behind.
“jake, this is your shot” sunghoon prepared jake and massaged his shoulders, “you can do it”
“hey! im jay, this is sunghoon and jake” jay spoke to your friend, “don’t mind these dummies” he rolled his eyes.
“our friend jake here seems to be interested in your friend!” he then whispered, “is there a chance you could help him out?”
you friend nodded and smirked, “leave it up to me”
the only one standing in the line was you and your friend, the three handsome boys you saw back then, and two more couples—which means the roller coaster was technically all for yourselves.
only eight seats were occupied as you and your friend sat down. you put your safety belts on and looked over your friend, who suddenly stood up.
“y/n! i have to go now! i totally forgot something in the viking and i have to get it before someone steals it!” she panicked, “go on the ride without me”
“wait no! i’ll go with you!” you tried to get out—but you completely forgot the safety belts were already locked, “i’ve got to run! i’ll go on the ride with you as soon as i get back i’m so sorry!” she said as she left you there, with an empty seat next to you.
“now’s the time!” jay pushed jake towards you and clapped.
you were slowly starting to panic and lose it, until you noticed a figure standing next to the empty seat.
“um…..” he scratched his nape “are you taken….?”
the figure was the cute boy from before, jake if you recall.
sunghoon, jay and your friend who were secretly watching from afar cursed him and shook their head in disappointment.
“did you really just made me skip this ride just to watch this guy awfully flirting with my friend?” your friend asked as jay and sunghoon begged for forgiveness.
“wait no!” jake awkwardly chuckled “i wanted to ask if that seat is taken”
you looked around and to your surprise, all of the other seats were empty as well.
“no, but there are plenty of empty seats…” you raised your eyebrow.
“yeah i know” he awkwardly giggled, “i—uh i like the place you’re sitting in like you know it’s not the first seats and it’s not the last seats it’s somewhere in the middle yeah”
you awkwardly nodded and signed him to sit next to you, “i’m jake” he said.
“i’m y/n” you chuckled.
you tried to let go of the nervousness, not only you’re sitting next to the cute guy you just met, you’re about to experience hell itself.
as you slowly arrived to the highlight of the ride, you held jake’s hand and he quickly shot his glance at you, “i’m sorry i’m just so scared” you said but all he did was to hold your hand tighter.
soon enough, you were already shouting your lungs out, holding tightly onto each other and closing your eyes as tight as you could.
“y/n i have a confession to make” jake suddenly shout, “what is it?” you answered back in between your shouts.
“i really meant to ask you if you’re taken” as he finished his sentence the ride stopped.
“what” you quietly said. jake’s eyes widened as he tried to find the words to explain.
“no, i’m not” you added and he breathed out.
“you actually caught my attention ever since i saw you on the viking” he smiled, “my friends planned all of this, i apologize that it happened to be on this hell of a ride”
you giggled, “it’s cute”
“are you up to spending the rest of the day together? just to get to know each other” he suggested.
“yeah, let’s do that” you interviewed your hands and got off the ride.
your friend stood there, speechless and betrayed while jay and sunghoon laughed their ass off, “i can’t believe he managed to do that” sunghoon hit jay while laughing.
“it’s all your fault” your friend rolled her eyes, “but at least she won’t whine about the fact that she’s lonely all the time”

Whb kings at an amusement park
Beelzebub invites you and the kings to the greatest amusement park in all of hell located in his Abyssos.
And amusement park based in hell peaks your interest and since you're being invited along with the rest of the kings You would be dumb to not take it.
Tumblr media
Satan
Gehenna has an amusement park. However, it is very different from Abyssos. Abyssos are more closely related to amusement parks on Earth, whereas in Gehenna, their parks are more active. So, honestly, Satan was a little confused when he could have found any trampolines or rock climbing walls or anything to punch and destroy for fun. However, the culture shock dies when he tries to ride a roller coaster. And he loves it! Holy fuck he loved roller coasters. Satan is an adrenaline junkie. Any fast ride that spins or goes fast or dives or drops he will be going there so fast. He will ride it till he pukes and then ride it again. The games he thinks are a little lacking, but only because his idea of games is something more active where he runs or, tosses, or swings something to get the aggression out.
Mammon
Mammon wishes he could ride the roller coasters but he does not think the seats will fit his size. in his personal opinion he finds the amusement parks and any other entertainment in Abyssos far more entertaining than the ones in tartaros. Since the people of Tartaros are more into electronic games and are more interested in staying in their luxurious houses and spending their money on material items and luxurious treatment, Mammon has yet to see an amusement park in Tartaros; well unless you count Resorts. Mammon will try any ride and he will love it all the same. Though he doesn't get how games work. Why work so hard to win one toy if he could get you hundreds of the same little stuff plush. So strange...
Leviathan
He hates this place. He hates everything about it! It's loud, crowded, and noisy; there are too many people he doesn't know. He wants to go home. Why is Abyssos so great? The parks in Hades are more relaxing, soothing, and tasteful than the rickety steel contraption that he barely trusts, which probably breaks all safety violations. He will only ride the slow, nice rides.
Levi is a master at the mini-games tho. (It's almost as if he had centuries of training. What? No. What are you talking about? Shut up! He has never seen this place in his life!) He will gladly show you anything, and it's fun to see you struggle at the stupid mini-game, where he can master it in one shot without even looking at the target.
Beelzebub
He knew you would like this park. It is grander than any park on earth. It has everything you could ever dream of and more no really everything... A Roman gladiator coliseum where demons fist fight bare naked where anyone could join in. The only rule was no killing each other. (inspired by the ancient Romans)
Beel is also a master at the games here and knows every ride and tells you how many times he's gone on it in his lifetime. He makes you try the food and the rides. He challenges Levi to the games "like the good old times." The reason why he invites you or the kings to a lot of his parties is because he likes to be a host. He's gluttony and he wants to have fun and he wants more fun, and what's more fun than sharing the fun with other people?
And then he gets swept up into the crowd. Damn it now you have to find him...
Lucifer
Interesting. He's never seen this side of hell before. An amusement park or anything entertaining like that is such a lost concept to him. He doesn't even know what to do. You must teach him to ride things, Play mini-games, and have fun. Which the Kings will happily do. Not every day do you teach the once God's favorite angel who has now fallen how to do ring toss. With every game and ride he goes on, He has more and more fun, and at the end, he responds with a simple "I like it," "It's okay," and "I don't mind it."
Belphegor+Beleth
Beleth got the king of sloth in one of those pull carts. Beleth doesn't mind; consider him as one of the kings. Honestly, he wants to catch up with Beel. Beleth plays all the games and rides for him until Beleth scolds him or Belphegor finally wants to get up from the cart and do something. Other than that, Belphegor is completely okay with watching. He prefers it. He likes watching. He feels like he's in the vicinity, he's participating in some way even though he's not actively doing anything.
The one ride he went on was the lazy river, which he proclaimed wasn't lazy enough. After that, he says he'll go on any other ride that doesn't move too fast, and all he has to do is sit. Other than that, he is happy just sitting here trying all the food, playing a game, or sitting with the stuff. He asks Beleth to take videos and photos.

.ᐟ wonbin oneshot : amusement park date ༉‧₊˚.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
req: hiii are you taking requests by any chance? if you are could you do amusements park date hcs with wonbin perhaps? its interesting because hell do anything but get on the rides and that so cute for some reason (he said he would for briize but no ew kbriize)
pairing: bf!wonbin x reader — masterlist
Wonbin had mentioned before that he didn’t like amusement parks, or more specifically, the rides at amusement parks. "Why do people enjoy scaring themselves like that? I don’t get it," he would always say.
You found it adorable knowing that about him, but you didn’t think he was that scared, until you decided to take him on a date to an amusement park. From the moment you arrived, he told you he wasn’t going to ride any of the attractions because they terrified him. While you initially teased him and tried to convince him to join you on a few rides, you eventually understood that if he didn’t want to, you didn’t need to push him.
After riding a few roller coasters on your own, you decided to do things that Wonbin would enjoy as well since, after all, this was your date. You both bought matching headbands and took pictures in a photo booth at one of the shops. You also stopped to eat at various food stalls, drawn in by the delicious smells everywhere.
"Wait, let’s try the churros from that stand too…"
As night fell, you reached the Ferris wheel. Although you were eager to ride it, you didn’t want to pressure Wonbin, so you simply looked at it for a few seconds before starting to walk away. It seemed Wonbin noticed because he grabbed your hand. After a few moments of hesitation, he finally said:
"Don’t you want to ride it?"
"Really? Doesn’t the Ferris wheel scare you?"
Wonbin shook his head repeatedly. Obviously, he was lying. He hated Ferris wheels, especially this one, it was so tall. But he decided to give you this memory, a special moment on an amusement park ride.
Once you were on the Ferris wheel, Wonbin sat beside you and held your hand tightly, avoiding looking out the window. Realizing that he was still scared, you let out a small laugh and asked why he’d gotten on if he didn’t actually want to.
"Because you chose not to do certain things so we could spend time together and so I’d have fun. I owe you this… and also because I love you."
The last part came out as a whisper, but you heard it perfectly. You couldn’t help but smile widely, leaving a soft kiss on his head.

Secret Garden In My Mind - N.R
Summary: Y/n's first day was a...roller coaster ride. But, it got more exciting with her first unexpected interaction with Natasha popping out of nowhere, with only the two of them being left alone in the house.
Author's Note: Hiii! Goshhh, I'm so sorry for making y'all waittt, so here's this! I hope it's enough to forgive me guys HAHA! hope you'll enjoyyyy, let's see where this will lead. 3k+ words.
Warnings: Blood, cursing, blood curdling domesticity (natasha being so soft and idiot), Y/n being a material wife (fuck her parents)
°^~°^~°^~°^~°^~°^~°^~°^~°^~°^~
Natasha's POV:
I saw how those familiar eyes widen, a spatula went in front of her, as if she was trying to hide from me by putting it on her chest. I swallowed a bump on my throat, mentally cursing myself for how I reacted. Of course, she'll be here. God, Natasha.
"I-... I was- I was just... Ms. Maria said I- I can cook the nuggets..." It came out almost as a question. I falter for a moment before regaining my composure back.
If money could make the ground to swallow me whole, that would where my billions will go. Gosh, am I drunk?
"Sorry... I'm sorry..." Those words left my mouth with no hesitation, making me falter once again. Why am I saying sorry? I don't apologize. Especially not under the roof I own and not to some... stranger. "I thought... I thought you were somebody, I'm really sorry..." I mentally face palm, biting my tongue as my inner turmoil just got louder. I mean, how can I stop apologizing when she look so... those eyes! I mean...Ugh, I'm going mad.
"Go on, you can... finish your—whatever you're cooking." I immediately turned to leave just in time when Maria step in the kitchen, a phone in hand and a frown on her face.
"Did you shout?" Fuck.
"Follow me." I commanded, walking past her without bothering to excuse myself.
I saw in my peripheral vision how the new presence that is with us put her head down, making the nagging feeling inside my chest flutter even more. As I walked away, my hearing caught the words that left Maria's mouth.
"Don't worry about her, you just eat whatever you want, okay? I'll be right outside in the balcony." I could imagine a small smile playing on her face, making me roll my eyes.
I marched towards the balcony, mixed feelings clouding my mind as a small headache started to hit me. Gosh, she's already here? Why wasn't I notified? Wait... Maybe, I was? But, if I am, I could've remembered it!
"Why the hell is she here?" I whispered in a shout as I face away from her, looking out in the view before us, both of my arms on the railings. I couldn't let her see my face, and notice that I'm in a turbulence inside my mind.
"What do you mean? I've already told you that last night before you went out with those two girls...." I winced as I remembered how I decided to pick two last night, wondering if it could help me out of the mess I'm in. Still, I kicked them out before I could even close the door of one of  the rooms inside that bar I go to. "...You even told me you'll be picking her up, Nat. But, I've received your phone calls, I couldn't reach you so I decided to do it myself-" Feeling irritated, I faced her with so much confusion and annoyance visible in my face.
"Maria, you can't take initiatives on such things like this! She's mine to think about—she—she's my problem for god's sake!" Mentally, I was taken aback by the things I have said. I wondered if it's my first time telling her something like this, but I chose to not falter. I saw how her eyes widened a little, not ignoring the flash of hurt that ran around it.
"What the fuck, Nat? Since when did it become a problem with me cleaning your dirt? Doing your work? She's yours to think about, but did you see how you handled her earlier? No shit, Romanoff, you yelled at her! Did you even see how startled she was? She's here, somewhere foreign to her and with people she barely knew." I gulped down the saliva on my throat, suddenly finding it hard to talk about and find the right words to stand still and claim my dominant towards her.
"What's been happening to you, Natalia? You're not doing like yourself this past couple of days..." I heard her claimed a long breath before exhaling it out. "If it's about work, tell me and I'll handle it. About your family? Your dad? Tell me and I'll help you, we'll help you. We're not your enemies here, come on. We've come so far together already... I'm not a stranger." With that, a gust of wind passed by me as she walked out the huge sliding door. That was when I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding still.
Am I losing my mind? Maria was right, I am not myself. I just couldn't understand what is happening. Everything feels too much and it angers me how I can't even resolve my own problem.
I turned to catch a glimpse of what moved in my peripheral vision. I watched as the two woman inside the penthouse talk to each other, gazing down, there's was a small plate of chicken nuggets in Y/n's hand, offering it to Maria. A flutter crossed my chest, I couldn't help but to clear my throat as I looked away, trying to take my attention to other things outside. But, even the birds and the skies couldn't compel to the face of an angel right here before me.
Looking back, I saw Y/n looking down now, I frowned, thinking of what they might be talking about. Raising her hand, Maria pat her head, resulting to my frown deepening. After that, she said some words that made Y/n look up with those doe eyed gaze. I held a breathe when Y/n walked towards Maria, closing the distance between them and hugging her.
I started to walk inside, my hands itching to grab something...someone— oh stop it. My feet faltered when I saw Maria raised her arms and reciprocated the intimate gesture. Hell, I don't even remember when I last hugged that woman and she's letting some random girl hug her after meeting for a few hours?
Deciding to stop the bullshit, if you could call it that, I made my way inside the penthouse, I was at a distnce when just in time, they pulled away from each other. Clearing my throat, they both looked at me, Maria stepping back instantly, holding a bowl in her hand.
"Maria, go get Clint on the phone and tell here to deal with New York and let Bucky deal with Budapest. I'm not feeling very well, I'm taking the day off." After that, I turned my gaze towards Y/n who was looking down, picking at her hands. I rolled my eyes mentally, before walking past them— between them. One of my hand automatically took the bowl away from Maria's hold as I marched upstairs towards my room. I could feel her eyes burning holes in the back of my head, but I couldn't careless. It was my money that bought this, and there's so much food there, they could just cook again.
Maybe, a day off is all that I need.
°^~°^~°^~°^~°^~°^~°^~°^~°^~°^~°^~°^°^~°^~
Y/n's POV:
"Well, I'm gonna go for now. I'll come back later and I'll check on you—do you have a phone? Maybe, I can get your number so it'll be easier for you to ask me if you need something." I looked up at Maria as she started speaking, shaking my head after she finished asking.
"I- uh... I don't have one..." I gulped when she squinted her eyes at me in a way that I don't understand. "But- but, I do have a laptop... I just- I don't have any socials... can I text you through my laptop?" I asked, and it took a moment before she responded.
"No, I uh... Oh! we hand that landline here..." She pointed at the telephone by the kitchen counter that was sitting on the far corner, and smiled slightly, feeling better to see that there's a telephone. That, I could use. "And we also have that somewhere in the living room, don't worry, I'll request Natasha to put one up in your room while we wait to buy you a phone, okay?" I nodded, smiling up at her before I remembered something.
"Oh, do-do you want me to cook you nuggets? Or I-" I was cut of by her.
"Don't worry about it, I'm not that hungry. I should get going now, I'll write down my number for you first... wait." She walked away, and I was left in the kitchen. I let out a sigh I didn't know I was holding as I sit on one of the stools she have here. It was so big, everything and everywhere is so big.
The nuggets are great! Does every nuggets here on New York taste like this? Is this some kind of special nuggets? Speaking of nuggets, I look towards where Natasha had disappeared from the corner.
Maybe she's in her room, Maria pointed it out to me earlier, does she want more nuggets? She said she was not feeling very well, maybe I could cook her some more foods? Bring her meds?
"Here." Maria gave me a piece of 1 sheet paper, there were two numbers. "The first one is my number and the second one is Natasha's, just in case she's not here and you need something. And, by the way, if she bothered you don't mind too much about it, she's just- she's just like that." I just nodded along the words she let out, still sitting on the stool so I was looking up at her.
"Would you—should I... uhmmm... Can I bring Natalia more foods? Maybe she needs medicine, or... or anything? I can do it." I asked politely, my hands fumbling around the paper she gave me. I didn't said anything wrong, right? That's what Mama and Dada said, to take care of Natasha, to look after her, to give her anything she needs. Anything she wants.
"Oh, uhh, I don't know about that. She can handle herself. You just make yourself at home, alright? Rest if you need to, I'll be back before you know it." I nodded once again, standing up as I went in for a hug.
She's very welcoming, very kind towards me. I've never met a stranger be this kind to me, it makes me miss home, miss Lucy. I just really need a hug right now and hugging Maria felt right.
Only one of her arms wrapped around me, and I pulled away. "I'm sorry if I kept hugging you—I hope I'm not making you feel uncomfortable... I just... I really need it." I explained, looking anywhere but her eyes.
"It's fine, don't worry." She pat my head before straightening out her shirt. "I should go now, we wouldn't want a dragon showering me with fire." I giggled at what she said and nodded as she started walking away.
"Take care, Ms. Maria. Thank you so much." I said gratefully, waving my hand at her.
She shook her head and waved back before disappearing into a corner. I sighed as I was left on my own thoughts, what can I do for the rest of the day? Can I watch TV? Natalia is here with me, maybe I could get to know her more? Looking around, I glanced at the clock and saw that it's almost past lunch time. Has she eaten already? Maybe she was hungry that's why she took the nuggets.
Standing up, I walked to the fridge, deciding to see what I could cook for her, or maybe for Maria also for when she get home later. There's so many foods here, all of them are fresh and well restocked, I wonder if it's all new.
Sighing, I stood up and look into nothingness, facing where Natasha had left earlier. Should I go check on her? Will it be okay? I'm just gonna check on her only. Golly, maybe she's sleeping? I suddenly jumped at the sound of thump and a sprained curse coming through the hallway.
Worry filled my head so I quickly closed the fridge and ran to where it was coming from. Turning on the corner, I saw Natasha with a vase broken into pieces around her feet. My eyes widened as I yelp her name.
"Natalia! Are you okay?" I asked as I watched her clutching her feet. She's in the exact corner, was she coming to the kitchen? I didn't hear her footsteps.
"Fuck, fuck, fuck... fucking hell!" My eyes widened more and I immediately raised my hand to support her body, but no doubt in my that I would come tumbling around with her if she ever did fell down. She's strong and... big!
"Your feet is bleeding! Golly! Come on, let me help you get to the living." Her hand automatically took a hold of mine while she kept cursing. I just pretended to not hear it, if only I could close my ears but my hands are all full. "What happened to you? Where does it hurt? Golly." I rambled as we walked past the kitchen into the living room where I helped her sit down on the couch, her body almost pulling mine along as she did so.
I immediately stood up straight and ran to the kitchen. "Wait for me." I looked for a clean cloth and found nothing. "Do you have any first aid kit here?!" I yelled gently through the kitchen as I rummaged around.
"By the restroom!" She yelled out with a booming voice and I immediately went to the restroom near. I thankfully quickly found a clean cloth and a box of aid kit beside it, taking it in my hands I immediately ran back, putting it on her feet before I went back again to the kitchen to get a big bowl and then filled it with water.
"Just wait for me, Natalia!" I said in a hurry. I was already panicking, especially after seeing the blood stream going to the floor of her living room.
Golly, hurry up, Y/n!
Soon enough, I was sitting by her feet, my leg folded so I was practically sitting on my ankles. The first thing I did was to stop the bleeding, and then after that I cleaned it with the things available inside the kit for cleaning the wounds along with my bowl of water. She was quiet the whole time, if it were me, I would be crying. The wound is not that big but it is deep, but at the same time there were no stitcher needed.
Good thing Lucy taught me many things.

3rd Person's POV:
As silence enveloped the surrounding of Natasha's living room, only the sound of Y/n's hand tending her foot was heard. The younger girl was too focused on mending what was hurt to notice the pair of green forest eyes gazing at her. The bumps running along Natasha's skin at the feeling her soft and gentle touch.
She's never been handled like this before, with so much care, so much... Gosh, she's thinking too much once again. Y/n's hand gracefully worked through helping Natasha's wound, while Natasha almost forgot what happened to her already.
"Uhmm..." Y/n cleared her throat, taking Natasha out of the trance she was in. "Would you... would you like something to eat?" Y/n asked, so soft that Natasha could possibly sleep at the sound of it. "How are you feeling? Do you need anything?" Y/n rambled as she rolled the gauze around Natasha's foot.
There was a moment of silence, Y/n could feel herself getting nervous, already wishing to take back what she said. Suddenly, Natasha ask, "Where did you learn that?"
"Lucy—she's my... uhm... my caregiver. She's been with me since I was a baby. She uh... she thought me many things, including this." Y/n said and Natasha couldn't help but hear the longingness lacing through her voice. There was a certain sadness that Natasha couldn't pinpoint. But, she chose to not ask anything, feeling that it might be a sensitive topic.
"Ahhhh... Lucille, right?" Y/n's head snapped up at her, her eyes filled with wonder. Their face was inches far away from each other as Natasha was leaning forward.
"You know her?" Y/n asked before looking down, as if shying away from Natasha's deep gaze.
"Yeah, I do. Been so long since I last talked to her... I was maybe... 8 or 10 above I don't know." There was an anomaly in Natasha's voice, a certain softness as she shared something she didn't know she would share. It was a very long time, she's not usually like this, sharing something to someone. But, it felt right as those words automatically came out her mouth.
Y/n was silent, only nodding her head as a reply but Natasha could see the gears working through her head. "Aren't you hot?" Natasha blurted, suddenly.
"Hmm?" Y/n asked, looking up while holding Natasha's foot.
Natasha gazes at the girl's face, from how her eyebrows were raised in question and how her eyes circled in wonder. Her pink mouth agape as her nose widens a little in every breath. "You're wearing a sweater and pants. You're all covered up." Natasha said, her eyes focused on Y/n's lips.
Y/n is not an idiot, she sensed how Natasha's eyes raked her face, shying away, she looked down, deciding to finish mending her feet. "I'm uh... no, I'm fine." Now, Natasha observed that there was an edge on her voice, as if wanting to drop the topic down.
Full of wonder, Natasha thought. She's mysterious but at the same time she's an open book, full of words that Natasha is yet to dicover. She could only wonder what lies beneath the cover.
"There. All done. Stay here, I'll clean the vase-would you like something first? Water?..." Y/n started cleaning up the mess she made while mending Natasha's foot. "Anything?" Looking up to see Natasha's burning gaze still on her.
"No. No, nothing..." Y/n nodded and said a small 'okay', standing up with the things in her hand.
"If you need me just call out, okay? You just stay here and don't put any pressure on that, it might start bleeding." Y/n explained before disappearing into the kitchen.
Natasha was left in her own thoughts, her eyes not leaving the vacant space where the young girl had disappeared. What the hell just happened? There were no awkwardness around them, maybe Y/n's shying away, but beyond that it was... comfortable. Natasha felt comfortable... she felt fuzzy, as if those splitting moments were merely a dream.
Is she dreaming?
She could hear Y/n walking around behind her, then the sound of the glass being picked up. It was as if all her senses was focused on the girl, and she let it be as she rest on the sofa.
Before she knew it, she was already napping on her million dollar couch, her heart beating in a soft beat for the first time as her mind was somehow at peace while she uses the soft and gentle movement of the girl as a music to fall asleep on.

The low rumble of the engine fills the quiet evening air as you glance out the window. The car is nothing like the sleek, expensive vehicles sitting in your family’s garage. It’s modest, a little old, and the faint smell of worn leather lingers in the air.
“You borrowed this from your dad?” You ask, raising an eyebrow as you turn to Hongjoong.
He shrugs, his hands gripping the steering wheel with a mix of focus and nervousness. “Yeah. Figured it’s better than taking the bus.”
The bus? Hell no, you have never been in one and you hope it never happens.
You glance at him, a small, amused smirk playing on your lips. The whole thing is… endearing in a way you don’t expect.
“So, are you going to tell me where we’re going?” You cross your legs and adjust your pink leather jacket.
“Nope.” His lips quirk into a smile, but he keeps his eyes on the road “Just sit back and enjoy the ride, pretty.”
You roll your eyes but don’t press further. There’s something about his excitement that keeps your curiosity piqued.
When the car finally comes to a stop, you step out and immediately catch the sound of distant laughter and the faint scent of fried food in the air. Turning toward the neon-lit entrance ahead, your brows knit together.
“An amusement park?” Your voice is tinged with surprise.
Hongjoong steps around to your side, his hands in his pockets and a slightly nervous look on his face.
“You said you’d never been to one, so…” He gestures toward the brightly lit rides.
You glance down at your outfit—high heel boots, a sleek skirt, and your leather jacket—then back at him.
“And you didn’t think to mention that I might want to dress for this?”
He grins, his nervousness fading into a playful confidence “You’ll be fine. You look beautiful and you could rock a runway in a park if you wanted to.”
You shake your head, unable to suppress a smile “Fine. Lead the way.”
The ticket booth is up ahead, and you instinctively reach for your purse, already accustomed to paying for yourself—and for others. But before you can even unzip it, Hongjoong steps forward, pulling out his wallet.
“Two adults, please.” He says, handing over the cash.
You blink, momentarily stunned. People don’t usually pay for you. They just assume you’ll foot the bill, given your family’s wealth. But here Hongjoong is, without hesitation, handling everything.
“Thanks.” You say, your voice softer than usual.
He shoots you a small, reassuring smile “It’s a date, isn’t it?”
The park is alive with energy—bright lights, music, and the unmistakable hum of excitement in the air. You’re not sure what to expect, but as the night unfolds, you find yourself swept up in the moment.
Hongjoong pulls you from ride to ride, his enthusiasm contagious. You scream on the roller coasters, laugh uncontrollably on the spinning teacups, and you surprise yourself by enjoying the bumper cars, laughing uncontrollably as Hongjoong tried—and failed—to outmaneuver you.
Hongjoong made a great effort to win a small stuffed bunny at one of the carnival games, he handed it to you with a triumphant grin.
“For you,” He says, holding it out.
“Seriously?” You ask, but there is no hiding the smile that tug at your lips “It’s so tacky.”
“Tacky but adorable, just like you.” He counters with a pretty smile.
And you find yourself clutching the fluffy bunny tightly as you continue through the park.
At the snack stand, you try to insist on paying, but Hongjoong beats you to it again, handing over the cash before you can protest.
“You’re really committed to this, huh?” You tease.
He shrugs, offering you a bag of popcorn “I like treating you. You’re worth it.”
The words catch you off guard, leaving a strange warmth in their wake. You look at him, the boyish grin on his face, and wonder how he can be so… genuine.
As the day turns into evening, the park’s lights flicker on, casting a magical glow over everything. You stand in line for the carousel, the soft music adding a nostalgic charm.
You climb into one of the ornate horses, your laughter echoing as Hongjoong chooses the one beside you.
“You’re having fun, admit it.” He says, his voice filled with mock accusations.
You tilt your head, a playful smirk on your lips “Maybe a little.”
The carousel begins to move, and for a moment, you let yourself get lost in the moment. The weight of your pride, your fears, and the persona you had carefully crafted seems to fade.
It’s just you and Hongjoong, spinning in a world that feels oddly perfect.
As the evening wears on, you realize something else—you’re having fun. Real, uncomplicated fun. It’s a feeling you’re not used to, and it’s equal parts exhilarating and terrifying.
When you finally board the Ferris wheel, the city sprawls out below you, glittering in the night. The car sways gently, and Hongjoong’s arm rests casually on the back of your seat.
“You’ve been quiet,” He glances at you “What’s on your mind?”
You hesitate, your fingers toying with the hem of your jacket “I guess… I’m not used to this.”
“To what?”
“To someone doing all of this just for me.” You admit, your voice barely above a whisper.
He looks at you, his expression softening “You deserve it, pretty. All of it.”
You bite the inside of your cheek, unsure of how to respond. The gnawing doubt in the back of your mind refuses to let go.
What if this isn’t real? What if he’s just playing along, trying to climb some invisible ladder to the top?
The Ferris wheel car rocks gently as it halts at the top, giving you a perfect view of the glowing amusement park below. The world feels smaller up here, the laughter and music from the park blending into a soft hum. But your focus isn’t on the view.
Hongjoong’s hand brushes against yours, hesitant yet deliberate “YN,” He begins, his voice soft but firm, breaking the fragile silence. You turn to him, caught off guard by the serious tone in his voice “There’s something I’ve been meaning to tell you,” His eyes locking onto yours “Something I should’ve said a long time ago.”
You blink, unsure of where he’s going with this “What is it?”
He exhales deeply, running a hand through his hair “Do you remember the first time we met? On the first day of college?”
You frown slightly, trying to recall “I remember you asking me for a pen and I told you not to speak to me again and get lost.” Both of you chuckle at the memory “You were… different back then.”
He smiles faintly, though there’s a sadness to it “I was, and I remember everything about that moment. How you walked into the lecture hall like you owned the place, and every single person in the room noticed you. Including me.”
You tilt your head, curious now.
“I knew I didn’t stand a chance,” He continues, his voice quiet “You were… YN. Popular, beautiful, confident—everything I wasn’t. But I couldn’t stop thinking about you. And I guess, in some way, I thought if I could change myself, maybe you’d notice me.”
“Change yourself?” You echo, your brow furrowing.
He nods, a faint, self-deprecating chuckle escaping his lips “The clothes, the hair, trying to fit in with your world—it was all for you. Even when I begged you to make me popular, it wasn’t really about the popularity. I just wanted to be enough for you. To have a chance with you.”
His words hit you like a wave, and for a moment, you don’t know what to say.
“You hated me back then.” You murmur, though your voice lacks conviction.
“I didn’t hate you,” He says firmly, his gaze unwavering “I hated how you treated me sometimes, yeah. But I didn’t hate you. How could I, when I was in love with you?”
Your breath catches “In love with me?”
“Since that first day,” Hongjoong admits, his voice barely above a whisper “It didn’t matter that you barely knew I existed. It didn’t matter how hard it was to watch you humiliate me or use me as a punchline. I just wanted you to notice me, YN. Even if it hurts.”
A lump forms in your throat as you stare at him. His words are raw, honest, and so unlike the Kim Hongjoong you’ve grown accustomed to.
“Hongjoong…” You trail off, your voice faltering.
He shakes his head, his hand tightening around yours.
“I know how it sounds. And I get it if you don’t feel the same way. But I had to tell you. Because all of this? It’s real for me. You’re real for me.”
You feel your chest tighten, the weight of his confession pressing down on you. Part of you wants to believe him, to let yourself fall into the warmth of his feelings, but the doubts linger.
“What if…” You begin, your voice trembling “What if you’re wrong? What if this isn’t real?”
“I’m not wrong,” He says with quiet determination “And I’ll prove it to you, pretty. Every day, if I have to.”
His words stir something deep inside you, but the echoes of your brother’s voice resurface: ‘Once the thrill of the game wears off, they’ll both be exactly where they belong—crumbling.’
You bite your lip, trying to suppress the turmoil within you.
“I don’t know if I can trust this.”
Hongjoong leans closer, his eyes searching yours “You don’t have to trust it all at once. Just… let me show you. Let me prove to you that I’m not going anywhere.”
For a moment, you hesitate, your heart warring with your mind. But then, as if on instinct, you lean in and press your lips to his.
The kiss is soft at first, tentative, but then it deepens, his hands cupping your face as yours find their way to his shoulders. For a moment, the world around you disappears, leaving only the warmth of his touch and the steady rhythm of his heartbeat.
When you finally pull away, breathless and flushed, Hongjoong’s eyes are wide, his expression filled with awe.
“Does this mean that we are…?”
“It means,” You interrupt, your voice trembling but steady “That I’m giving you a chance to prove it, then we discuss what will happen. Don’t make me regret it.”
He smiles, the kind of smile that reaches his eyes and lights up his entire face.
“I won’t. I promise.”
The Ferris wheel begins to move again, but this time, as it descends, you feel lighter, the weight of your doubts momentarily lifted.
Maybe this is reckless. Maybe it’ll all fall apart. But as Hongjoong’s hand finds yours again, lacing your fingers together, you decide—for now—you’ll take the risk.
✮ ⋆
The hum of the car engine fades as Hongjoong pulls up to your family’s grand estate, its sprawling driveway illuminated by soft outdoor lighting. He steps out of the old car and quickly moves to your side, opening the door for you with a charming smile.
“Such a gentleman.”
You tease, stepping out in your heels, clutching the medium-sized plush bunny he’d won for you at the amusement park. Its soft, floppy ears brush against your arm, and for reasons you can’t quite explain, holding it makes you feel… warm.
“Well, tonight was special. You deserve the whole VIP treatment.” He quips, offering his hand to steady you.
As the two of you walk toward the front steps, the soft chill of the evening air wraps around you, but you barely notice it. The warmth of the evening lingers, and you’re not quite ready to let it go.
“I had fun tonight.” You admit, your voice softer than usual.
“Yeah?” He asks, his eyes lighting up “You’re not just saying that because I let you beat me at the ring toss, are you?”
You roll your eyes, a laugh escaping as you hug the bunny tighter.
“You didn’t let me win. I’m just naturally talented.”
Hongjoong grins, leaning slightly closer “Naturally talented, huh? I’ll remember that next time I’m getting crushed at bumper cars.”
A comfortable silence falls between you for a moment as you both reach the front door.
“Thank you, Hongjoong,” You say, turning to face him fully “For everything. I mean it.”
He scratches the back of his neck, his cheeks tinged pink under the porch light. “You don’t have to thank me. I just… I wanted you to have a good time.”
“Well, mission accomplished.” You reply, your smile lingering.
The moment feels charged, like the quiet pause before a firework explodes. Slowly, he steps closer, his gaze flickering from your eyes to your lips.
“Goodnight, pretty.” He says softly, his voice barely above a whisper.
“Goodnight, Joongie.” You reply, leaning in.
Your lips meet in a tender kiss, warm and unhurried, the kind that feels like a promise. The bunny slips slightly in your grip, but Hongjoong steadies it with a hand, his touch lingering just long enough to make your heart flutter.
When you pull back, there’s a flicker of hesitation in his eyes, as though he’s reluctant to leave.
“I’ll see you tomorrow at school.” He murmurs, his hand brushing yours one last time before he turns and walks back to his car.
You watch him drive away, the sound of the engine fading into the night. For a brief moment, you stand there, feeling lighter than you have in weeks.
The plush bunny in your arms feels oddly comforting, and you catch yourself smiling at the memory of him insisting on winning it for you. He’d been so focused, so determined, as though nothing else in the world mattered.
But the warmth is short-lived.
As you step inside, the soft click of your heels echoes in the dimly lit foyer. The house feels quiet, almost too quiet, and a sense of unease prickles at the back of your neck.
“Late night, huh?” You freeze. Mike’s voice cuts through the silence like a knife, cold and taunting.
He steps out from the shadows of the living room, his arms crossed, and an infuriatingly smug look on his face.
“So, did Prince Nerd sweep you off your feet?”
You roll your eyes, trying to keep your composure “Go to bed, Mike. You’re not my keeper.”
He chuckles, the sound low and mocking “Oh, but it’s so entertaining watching you play house with your little project.”
You glare at him, your defenses rising “He’s not a project. And you don’t know anything about him.”
Mike raises an eyebrow, stepping closer “Don’t I? Let’s see… Hongjoong, the reformed nerd. The guy who suddenly started hanging out with the queen bee… How curious, don't you think?” Your jaw tightens, but he doesn’t stop “You think that’s love, YN? Or is it desperation?"
"Face it, dear sister. He’s obsessed with you because you’re a trophy. The queen bee who gave him the time of day. Do you really think that’ll last? Once he realizes he can’t keep up, he’ll snap back to reality. And where does that leave you?”
“Stop it,” You snap, your voice shaking slightly.
But Mike only smirks “You’re scared, aren’t you? Scared that I’m right. Scared that once the shine wears off, he’ll remember who he really is—and leave you behind.”
His words sink in like claws, dragging at the fragile hope you’d started to build tonight. You open your mouth to fire back, but the lump in your throat stops you.
Mike leans in, his voice dropping to a whisper “Enjoy the fairytale while it lasts, little sister. Because when it ends, it’s going to hurt.”
Without another word, he turns and disappears into the shadows, leaving you standing there, clutching the bunny tightly to your chest.
The warmth of Hongjoong’s kiss feels like a distant memory now, overshadowed by the weight of Mike’s cruel words.
As you climb the stairs to your room, the doubts creep in, unbidden and relentless.
You set the bunny down on your bed, its soft, innocent face staring back at you as though mocking your turmoil.
Tonight was perfect. But now, you’re not so sure how long perfect can last.

March, 2008⋆。
You were five years old, standing in the middle of the schoolyard with a bouquet of cheap plastic flowers and a small silver medal hanging around your neck. The other kids were swarmed by their parents, showered in hugs, kisses, and congratulations.
You stood apart, your smile faltering as you scanned the crowd again and again, hoping to find a familiar face.
But your parents never came.
By the time the babysitter arrived to take you home, the festival had already ended, and the school grounds were nearly empty. You sat quietly in the car, clutching the medal tightly in your small hands, determined not to cry.
You had worked so hard for the performance, staying late after school for weeks, practicing the routine over and over. You had wanted your parents to see you, to be proud of you.
When you finally got home, the house was dark. Your parents weren’t there, of course. They had told you that morning that they might be "a little late," but you hadn’t realized it meant missing the entire festival.
The babysitter gave you a sympathetic smile before heading upstairs. You sat at the dining table, the silver medal still around your neck, as you stared at the empty chairs where your parents should’ve been.
It wasn’t until late at night that you heard the front door open. You rushed downstairs, your little heart pounding with a mixture of excitement and apprehension.
Your parents entered, followed by your eight-year-old brother, Mike, who was holding a shiny trophy in his hands.
“Look at this, first place!” Mike boasted, raising the trophy high.
“We’re so proud of you, Mike.” Your mother said, ruffling his hair.
“Mommy, Daddy,” You began hesitantly, clutching her medal “You missed my dance festival.”
Your parents glanced at you briefly, their smiles faltering for just a moment.
“Oh, honey, we’re so sorry,” Your father said, though his tone was distracted “But Mike had his soccer game today, and his team won! It was such an important match.”
“I won too. I won second place, look.” You said quietly, holding up your medal with a smile.
You looked between your parents, hoping for a flicker of pride, of recognition.
Mike snorted “Second place? That’s just the first loser, YN.”
Your cheeks burned, and your grip on the medal tightened “It’s still good,” You muttered.
The oldest exchanged a quick look before your mother knelt down in front of you.
“That's incredible, sweetie. We’re sorry we couldn’t make it. We’ll make it up to you, okay? Tomorrow, we’ll take you to the store, and you can pick out whatever you want. How does that sound?”
You nodded slowly, but the hollow ache in your chest didn’t go away. You watched as your parents returned their attention to Mike, showering him with questions about his game, reliving every goal and every cheer.
You stood there, forgotten, the silver medal in your hand feeling heavier by the second.
That night, as you lay in bed, you stared at the medal on the nightstand. You thought about the promise your parents had made, the reward they’d offered to soothe their absence.
A reward.
That’s what you were worth to them. Not their time, not their presence, but a material gift to ease their guilt.
And so, even at five years old, you learned a valuable lesson: if you couldn’t earn love, you could at least be compensated for its absence.

October, 2017⋆。
The house was alive with music, laughter, and the clinking of glasses. Streamers in shades of purple and gold adorned the grand living room, and a three-tier cake stood proudly at the center of the dining table, surrounded by an array of delicately prepared treats.
It was your fifteenth birthday—or at least, it was supposed to be.
You stood near the large bay window, your dress a vision of elegance and sparkle, the kind your mother had insisted on getting for the occasion. But your smile was thin and forced, your eyes constantly darting to the growing crowd around Mike.
Your older brother was the center of attention, as he always seemed to be.
Earlier that evening, just as the guests began to arrive, Mike had announced to their parents that he had been accepted into the most prestigious university in the country. The news was met with exuberant cheers and immediate celebration.
Your parents’ pride radiated like the sun, casting a shadow over everything else—including you.
At first, you tried to hold onto the joy of your own milestone, but as the night wore on, the decorations, the cake, and even the guests seemed to shift their focus.
“To Mike!” Your father’s voice boomed as he raised a glass of champagne “For making us the proudest parents alive!”
A collective cheer followed, and you felt your chest tighten. You glanced at your mother, hoping for a gesture of acknowledgment, but she was too busy beaming at Mike.
The words you had rehearsed to thank everyone for coming stayed locked in your throat.
“It’s okay…” You told yourself, gripping the edges of the dress to steady your trembling hands.
As the hours passed, your birthday transformed into an impromptu celebration for Mike’s achievement. Relatives and family friends crowded around him, offering their congratulations. The gifts that were meant for you sat unopened on a side table, forgotten.
Later that night, after most of the guests had left, you found yourself alone in the kitchen, picking at the remains of the untouched birthday cake. Your parents walked in, their faces still glowing with pride.
“Darling,” Your father said, noticing your somber expression “Why are you here by yourself? It was such a wonderful evening.”
You looked up at him, eyes glistening with unshed tears.
“It was supposed to be my birthday party.”
Your mother’s smile faltered “Oh, sweetheart, we’re so sorry,” She said, reaching out to place a hand on your shoulder “But you understand how important this is for Mike, don’t you? This is such a big accomplishment for him.”
“I guess.” You mumbled, though the ache in your chest remained.
Mike walked in then, a triumphant grin on his face “What’s this? Pouting because you had to share the spotlight?” He teased, ruffling your hair in that condescending way that always made your blood boil.
“It’s not a big deal. Come on, you should be happy for me. Not everyone gets into a school like this.”
You clenched your fists, fighting the urge to lash out “Happy birthday to me.” You muttered under her breath.
Her parents, sensing the tension, exchanged a quick glance.
“YN, we’ll make it up to you. Tomorrow, we’ll take you shopping and get you whatever you want. Anything at all.”
You forced a smile, nodding mechanically.
“Sure. Thanks.”
But as you lay in bed that night, staring at the ceiling, you couldn’t shake the feeling of being invisible. No matter how hard you tried, it seemed you would always come second to Mike—the golden child, the perfect son, the one who could do no wrong.
And so, the seeds of bitterness were planted, watered by years of neglect and overshadowed by a brother who always shone brighter.
You promised yourself then that you would never let anyone make you feel small again.
If you had to be cruel to survive, so be it. Because in a world where everyone else seemed to have the upper hand, kindness felt like a luxury you couldn’t afford.

July, 2020⋆。
The dining room was filled with laughter and the soft clinking of glasses. The long table was adorned with an elegant spread, shimmering under the chandelier’s warm glow.
It was Mike’s farewell dinner, a grand event in honor of his departure to Germany to pursue his master’s degree in business management.
The room buzzed with pride and excitement for the family’s golden boy.
You, now seventeen, sat near the end of the table, quiet and composed, your gaze fixed on your untouched plate. You had learned to blend into the background during these family gatherings, where you knew your presence would be an afterthought.
“To Mike!” Uncle William raised his glass for the third toast of the evening “A true inspiration to us all. You’ve always been the pride of the family!”
“Here’s to making us proud in Germany,” Chimed in Aunt Silvia, dabbing her eyes with a napkin “Our boy is destined for greatness.”
Everyone joined in the toast, glasses clinking, voices filled with admiration. Your grip tightened around the fork, your knuckles white as you forced a polite smile.
“And what about you, YN?” Cousin Andrew’s voice cut through the noise like a blade, drawing attention to her “Any plans to follow in your brother’s footsteps? Or is it still fashion magazines and parties for you?”
The table erupted in laughter, the kind that stung more than it amused. Your jaw clenched, but you kept a neutral expression, unwilling to give them the satisfaction of a reaction.
Your mother’s voice cut through the mockery, firm but not forceful.
“That’s enough, Andrew. YN has her own path, and she’s doing well in school.”
“Well, of course she is,” Mike interjected, his tone smooth but laced with condescension “YN has always been… creative.”
More laughter followed, and you felt the familiar sting of their dismissive comments. Years of enduring this treatment had toughened you, but tonight, it felt heavier, like a weight pressing on your chest.
As dessert was served, Grandpa leaned toward you.
“You should be proud of your brother, Little YN. He’s setting the standard for the family. Maybe one day you’ll find your own way to contribute.”
“I am proud.” You said softly, voice steady despite the lump in your throat.
Your father, noticing the tension, tried to lighten the mood.
“Come now, let’s not overshadow YN entirely. She’s done well this year, too.”
“Sure,” Mike quipped, a smirk tugging at his lips “But tonight isn’t about her.”
You pushed your chair back, movements graceful despite the storm brewing inside you.
“If you’ll excuse me, I think I’ll get some air.”
The murmurs at the table quieted as you left the room, heels clicking against the polished floor.
Once outside, You inhaled deeply, the cool night air filling her lungs. Your chest heaved as you fought back the tears threatening to spill.
You wouldn’t let them see your break.
Not now. Not ever.
When your parents found you later, sitting on the garden bench, your father held out a small, velvet box.
“We’re sorry, darling,” He said, his voice soft with guilt “We didn’t mean to make you feel left out.”
You opened the box to reveal a delicate diamond bracelet, the stones catching the moonlight.
“It’s beautiful.” You said, slipping it onto your wrist.
But inside, the gesture felt hollow. No gift could fill the void left by years of neglect and overshadowing.
That night, the bracelet glittering on the nightstand, you made a vow: If the world wanted to underestimate you, you would let it. And then, you would show them all just how wrong they were.

Present year (Mike’s return)⋆。
Hours later, you returned home after dinner at Hongjoong’s house, your mood lifted by the warmth and genuine affection of his parents. But the moment you stepped inside your own home, the oppressive atmosphere returned.
Mike confronted you as always, but you didn’t mind, didn’t talk back. But your chest burned with frustration and hurt.
As you reached the top of the stairs, you passed by your parents’ room. Their voices carried through the cracked door.
“Do you think we should talk to her?” Your mother asked, her tone uncertain.
Her father sighed “She’ll be fine. She always is.”
“I don’t know,” She said softly “Maybe we should get her something. You know how sensitive she can be about these things.”
“A trip, perhaps?” Your father suggested “Or maybe one of those designer handbags she likes. It’s not like she doesn’t enjoy it.”
You froze in the hallway, stomach twisting. Of course. This was how it always went. Gifts instead of apologies. Material things to soothe over their lack of understanding or support.
You leaned against the wall, fists clenching.
As a child, you had cried over these moments, hoping for more, longing for genuine care. Now, you knew better.
You have learned to accept it, even take advantage of it.
If they thought they could buy your affection, you would let them.
Your lips curved into a bitter smile. If they wanted to give you a car, a trip, a bag, or whatever else they thought would ease their guilt, so be it. You’d make sure it was worth their while.
But as you slipped into your room and closed the door, the bitterness remained, gnawing at the edges of your heart.
You should be used to this by now.

The bustling energy of the school hallway feels distant as you walk to your locker. Usually, your heels click with purpose, your presence commanding attention.
But today, something is off. You aren't radiating your usual aura of authority and sharpness. Instead, you move through the crowd quietly, your thoughts heavy.
Your mind has been restless since the night before, replaying old memories you rarely allowed yourself to dwell on. The echoes of the past—your parents’ hollow apologies, Mike’s dismissive words—lingered, intertwining with the warmth you had felt during the date with Hongjoong.
Why now? Why did those memories resurface now, after a day that had been nothing short of… perfect?
As you approach your locker, you feel a presence behind you. Turning, you see Hongjoong standing there, his brows furrows in concern.
“You’ve been quiet.” He says softly.
You tilt your head, brushing a strand of hair behind your ear.
“And that’s unusual?”
“For you? Yeah.” He says, a small smile tugging at his lips.
You smirk faintly but don't respond. Instead, you play with the lock on your locker, your movements uncharacteristically hesitant.
Hongjoong leans against the locker next to yours, studying you.
“Something’s on your mind.”
You hesitate, pride warring with the strange weight pressing on your chest. Finally, you shrug, closing the locker door.
“Don’t flatter yourself. Not everything revolves around you, Joongie.”
Hongjoong chuckles, but his concern doesn't waver “Okay, but if you need someone to talk to, you know where to find me.”
You nod, taking a deep breath, trying to shake off the unease.
“Today I planned a little meeting at my house, bring a swimsuit.”

The sun cast golden reflections over the pool as music pulses through the speakers. Laughter and chatter fill the air as you and your friends lounge around, drinks in hand. Mindy, Samantha, Wooyoung, Seonghwa, San, Mingi, and Hongjoong are all there, the atmosphere lighthearted and carefree.
Dann, ever the obedient little pet, carries a tray of drinks, moving carefully to avoid spilling anything. She approaches the group, her expression unreadable as she sets the drinks down on the small poolside table.
"Finally." Seonghwa smirks, picking up his glass.
"Took you long enough, nerd." Mindy snaps.
"What, did you have to mix them by hand?" Wooyoung adds with a chuckle.
Dann clenches her jaw but says nothing. She had learned that silence is often the best defense. But today, something in her burns hotter than usual.
Maybe it is the sight of you and Hoongjoong sitting so close, his hand around your waist, your chemistry undeniable.
Maybe it’s the way you barely acknowledge her, as if she is nothing more than an accessory in your world.
"You should be more grateful," Dann mutters under her breath "Not everyone is willing to put up with your bullshit."
Silence. Then laughter. You arch an eyebrow, standing up and tilting your head as if you hadn't heard correctly.
"Excuse me?"
Dann swallows, but her resolve doesn't waver "I said—"
But before she can finish, you let out a scoff, exchanging a look with Wooyoung. Without warning, you place a hand on Dann’s shoulder and give her a hard shove. Wooyoung, catching on to the moment, joins in, and together you push Dann straight into the pool.
A loud splash echoes through the air.
Laughter erupts from the group as Dann surfaces, coughing and sputtering, her soaked hair plaster to her face. Wooyoung doubled over, wiping tears from his eyes. Even Hongjoong chuckles along with the others.
Dann wipes water from her eyes, her face burning—not just from humiliation but from something deeper. Something sharper.
As the group continues to laugh, none of them notices the figure watching from the mansion’s balcony. Mike stands at a distance, his expression unreadable, his grip tightening around his glass as he observes everything in silence.
The laughter has barely settled when Dann storms away, her soaked clothes clinging to her like a second skin, her face burning with humiliation.
She can still hear their amusement echoing behind her, but she doesn’t turn back. She wouldn’t give them the satisfaction.
Just as the group is about to move on from the incident, a familiar voice interrupts.
“Sweetie,” Your mother’s elegant tone cut through the chatter, drawing everyone’s attention.
“Yes, mommy?”
Your mother looks over the group with an approving nod “I see you’re all having fun,” She says pleasantly “I wanted to extend an invitation to all of you. This Saturday, we’re hosting a celebration for Mike’s accomplishments. It’ll be a grand affair.”
The mention of Mike makes your stomach twist, but you keep your expression unreadable.
Your mother’s gaze then lands directly on Hongjoong “And you, young man, I would love for you to attend.”
Hongjoong blinks, clearly caught off guard. He isn’t sure if that is true or just a polite formality, but he nods nonetheless.
“Uh, thank you, Mrs. Clarke. I’d be honored to come.”
“Wonderful.” She said smoothly, and with that, she excused herself, leaving the group with murmurs of intrigue about the upcoming event.

As the night stretches on, one by one, your friends depart, leaving only you and Hongjoong by the pool. The energy has shifted. The teasing, the careless fun—it all faded into something quieter, something heavier in the air between you.
The water is cool against Hongjoong’s skin, a welcome contrast to the heat radiating between you. His arms wrap around your waist, pulling you closer, feeling the warmth of your sun-kissed body against his own. You straddle his lap, your fingers threading through his hair as you talk.
“And your friends… what are they like?” You ask, your voice softer now, genuinely curious.
Hongjoong chuckles “A bunch of nerds, really,” He admits “Yunho is always energetic, making jokes and annoying. Yeosang is quiet but he is also a weirdo.” You both laugh, you can see in his eyes how much he appreciates his friends “On the other hand, Jongho is reserved and always listening, sometimes scary, but in general we spend way too much time debating books lore and analyzing sci-fi movies like it’s a science.”
You smirk, tilting your head toward him “That’s kinda cute.”
He raises an eyebrow “Cute? You wouldn’t last five minutes in one of our discussions.”
“Try me, I know much more than just fashion and pop culture gossip.”
And for a while, you simply talk. About things that don't matter, about things that do. And for the first time in a long time, you aren't thinking about your reputation, about expectations, or about proving yourself.
You are just there, with him.
At some point, you drift closer, and Hongjoong notices. The way your eyes soften under the dim lights, the way the water reflects off your skin. The way you look at him—not like he is some nerd trying to reach too high, but like he is just Hongjoong.
Without overthinking, he leans in, brushing a damp strand of hair behind your ear.
“You’re different when it’s just us.” He murmurs.
“And you don’t mind?”
He shakes his head “Not even a little.”
Your lips meet, tentative at first, then deeper. The warmth of the water, the way your bodies press against each other—it’s intoxicating. Your fingers curl around the nape of his neck, pulling him closer.
His hands trace slow, lazy circles on your bare waist, and for that moment, nothing else exists.
"You always talk about your nerdy friends," You murmur as you pull back a little, your breath catching against his lips "But you never really tell me about you."
Hongjoong lets out a soft chuckle, shaking his head "And here I thought you didn’t care."
You roll your eyes, but there’s something different now. The barest hint of a smirk touches your lips.
"Maybe I do."
His breath hitches at the sound of your voice, and you feel the faint tremor in his hands as they hover on your waist. There’s hesitation, a slight uncertainty, as if he’s not sure how far to go or whether he’s doing it right. You like it. It’s endearing.
You know exactly what’s on his mind, that quiet nervousness, and it only makes you want him more.
You reach out, tracing your fingertips slowly down his arm beneath the water, deliberate and teasing. He shivers slightly under your touch, his pulse hammering.
When your hand drifts to his chest, you linger there, pressing your palm flat against his skin, feeling the steady rhythm of his heart beneath your fingers.
“Let's go shopping tomorrow after school. You need a suit, and you have to impress my mother.”
“Only your mother?” He teases, making you scoff.
“Think what you want, but you need something that screams ‘I belong to YN Clarke’.”
Hongjoong laughs but nods “All right then, pretty.”
"You’re warm," You note absently, your breath shaky as you let your touch wander.
Hongjoong exhales sharply, his hand lifting, skimming over the curve of your waist. His fingertips brush over your bare skin, and you can feel his uncertainty, the way he pulls back just a fraction when you press closer.
His breath is uneven, like he’s trying to keep up with the rhythm of your touch, trying to suppress the nerves coiling in his gut. He swallows hard.
"YN—"
You cut him off before he can say more, leaning in to kiss him again, your lips meeting his with an urgency that both surprises and excites him.
The kiss is slow at first, teasing, but as Hongjoong slides his hand to the small of your back and pulls you closer, something inside both of you snaps.
The moment his grip tightens, pulling you flush against him, you gasp softly, feeling the heat between you intensify. Hongjoong's kiss becomes deeper, rougher, his hands gripping you like he’s been starving for you, his touch becoming bolder, more eager.
His muscles tense beneath your hands, the slight tremor in his touch betraying his inexperience, but you don’t mind. If anything, you find it charming, knowing you’re the one who can pull this reaction from him.
The water around you suddenly feels too cool compared to the heat of his body against yours. Your arms wrap around his neck, fingers threading through his damp hair as he presses you against the edge of the pool.
He kisses along your jaw, over the damp skin of your throat, sucking lightly before flicking his tongue over the spot to soothe the sting. You shudder at the sensation, your legs instinctively wrapping around his waist beneath the water.
"Joong—" You breathe, your voice barely above a whisper, lost in the warmth of the moment.
But he swallows the rest of your words with another kiss, drowning you both in the heat of it, in the desperation, the raw hunger that feels so real and unrestrained.
His hands roam lower now, gripping your thighs beneath the water, and you arch into him. You can feel his self-control hanging by a thread, the way he stifles every urge to push harder, faster, the way he almost overthinks each move. It’s a mix of hesitance and hunger.
He wants you so badly, but he’s not sure if he’s doing it right. But the more you respond, the more he realizes that’s not what matters. It’s the way you want him that matters.
You guide him without saying a word—your body melting against him, soft sighs escaping your lips as he becomes more confident with each touch. His kisses deepen, and the passion between you escalates.
There’s nothing awkward about this anymore. The hesitation fades, and what’s left is raw, real, and completely right.
"God, you drive me crazy," He murmurs against your lips, voice hoarse with the effort of holding back.
You smirk, brushing your fingers along his jaw "I know, nerd."
Hongjoong groans, his grip tightening as he nips at your lower lip in retaliation. You laugh, but it quickly fades into a soft sigh when he dips his head, kissing along the curve of your shoulder, his lips gentle but insistent.
For a moment, you can feel him stiffen slightly, unsure whether he’s moving too fast, and then you pull him closer, urging him to follow your lead. His hands move with more certainty now, exploring with a quiet passion, and the way his body reacts to yours is nothing short of electrifying.
The beauty of it is not just in the physicality—the way his hands and lips touch you—but in the way he’s learning.
Hongjoong is not perfect, and he’s not experienced, but he’s here.
He’s with you, and the more he responds to you, the more he learns what you need, the more you find yourself consumed by him.
It’s the way he forgets his nervousness, the way he becomes sure of himself because of you.
And you know, deep down, that this isn’t just about the touch, the heat, the kissing. It’s about the way he’s learning to be confident in himself. Because of you.
And that, in the end, makes all the difference.
For once, you let yourself get lost in it. In the way Hongjoong touches you, the way he wants you, the way he holds you like you’re something precious.
It 's intoxicating.
And yet, hidden in the shadows, Dann stands frozen, her chest tightening, her fingers clenched into fists as she watches the scene unfold.
Dann hadn’t meant to stay. She hadn’t meant to see.
But there she is, standing by the edge of the terrace, her heart sinking lower and lower.
It wasn’t just a kiss. It wasn’t just some game you were playing.
This is real.
She has told herself she doesn't care. That it doesn’t matter. But the painful sting in her heart tells her otherwise.
And it hurt.

The next day, you and Hongjoong find yourselves strolling through an upscale shopping mall. The polished marble floors gleam under the soft glow of designer store lights.
As usual, your style is impeccable—heels clicking in rhythm, and your hair flowing with the air. Beside you, Hongjoong is a stark contrast, casual yet charming in his plain sweater and jeans.
You lead him into one of the most exclusive stores, where racks of tailored suits and elegant ensembles line the walls.
The sales assistants greet you with knowing smiles, instantly recognizing your status.
“Do you even know my size?” He teases, watching you confidently pull out a dark navy suit with subtle pinstripes.
You smirk, holding the suit up to him “I don’t need to know your size. I have an eye for perfection.”
He shakes his head, chuckling as he takes the suit from your hands “You know I don’t need something this expensive, right? I can just wear the stuff I have at home.”
“Not if you’re going to a party as my date.” You say firmly, your tone leaving no room for argument.
Hongjoong smiles softly but doesn’t press further. He disappears into the fitting room, and while he’s gone, you wander the store, your gaze drifting over the luxurious displays.
The weight in your chest hasn’t eased since yesterday. If anything, it feels heavier under the bright lights and polished surfaces.
It’s not about the suit. It’s not about the party. Shopping, spending, indulging—it’s the only thing that ever distracted you from the hollow ache inside. It always has been.
“YN?” Hongjoong’s voice pulls you from your thoughts.
You turn, and for a moment, your breath catches. The suit fits him perfectly, accentuating his broad shoulders and lean frame.
He looks… confident. Polished.
Yours.
“What do you think?” He asks, doing a half spin for effect.
You step closer, your fingers brushing over the lapel of the jacket “You look…” You pause, searching for the right word, then smirk “Like someone who belongs to me.”
He laughs, shaking his head, but there’s a hint of pink in his cheeks “I should’ve known you’d say that.”
After the purchase is made—your card, of course—you both leave the store. You’re holding onto a medium-sized bag containing some clothes as Hongjoong holds a bag with his new suit that costs more than some people make in a month.
As you walk through the mall, Hongjoong’s phone buzzes in his pocket. He glances at the screen, and a small smile spreads across his face.
“What is it?” You ask, curious.
“It’s Jongho, Yeosang, and Yunho,” He says, showing you the message “They’re asking if I want to hit the arcade with them tonight. It’s been ages since we’ve hung out.”
You notice the way his eyes light up at the mention of his friends, and for a moment, your heart clenches.
You nod, keeping your expression neutral.
“You should go.”
He hesitates, slipping his phone back into his pocket “I don’t want to leave you alone.”
“I’ll be fine,” You say with a small smile “Go have fun with them. You deserve it.”
“Are you sure?” He asks, studying your face.
“Yeah,” You reply, tilting your head slightly “I’ll just go home and relax. Maybe binge some show or something.”
Hongjoong doesn’t look convinced, but he doesn’t push.
“Okay, but only if you promise me something.”
“What?”
“That you’ll call me if you need anything.”
You roll your eyes, your lips curving into a smirk “Relax, Joong. I’m not helpless.”
“I know you’re not,” He says softly “But I care about you, pretty. A lot.”
The sincerity in his voice makes your chest tighten. You can’t help but wonder if it’s only a matter of time before those words—his care, his affection—turn into something else.
Something colder.
He leans down and kisses your forehead, his hand briefly brushing yours.
“I’ll text you later, okay?”
“Okay,” You whisper, watching him walk away.
You clutch the bag in your hand, the weight of the expensive items nothing compared to the familiar emptiness settling in your chest.

The arcade was alive with the sound of laughter, the ping of game machines, and the occasional cheer of someone winning.
Hongjoong walked in, spotting the boys huddled near the air hockey table.
“Hongjoong!” Yunho calls, waving him over.
“About time you showed up,” Yeosang teases “We thought YN had you on a leash or something.”
Hongjoong rolls his eyes, grinning “Very funny.”
Jongho smirks “For a moment we thought you'd say no, since you've only spent time with her.”
“I also have a life apart from being with her and she also needs her space, so she let me come.”
“She let you come? I didn't know you had to ask permission to go out with your friends.” Yunho snorts mockingly.
“We’re kind of a thing now.” Hongjoong murmurs shyly.
The boys look confused at each other before looking at him.
“What do you mean with that, Joong?”
He hesitates before shrugging, a small smile tugging at his lips “We had a date.”
Yunho drops the joystick he was holding “A date?!
“Wait, wait,” Yeosang says, laughing “YN Clarke? Like, the queen bee had a date with you?”
“The same one.” Hongjoong replies, scratching the back of his neck.
Yeosang and Yunho exchange a look before breaking into wide grins.
Jongho let out a low whistle “I thought you were joking about liking her. She actually went out with you?”
“Yeah,” Hongjoong says, his smile growing “It was amazing. I took her to the amusement park. She even let me win her a prize—a stuffed bunny.”
Yunho grinns “Aww, how romantic. Joongie the Casanova.”
“More like Hongjoong the miracle nerd,” Jongho adds “Seriously, dude. YN Clarke? That’s insane.”
Yunho’s grin widens “Dude, you’re living the dream. A date with the queen bee of the school? You’re officially a legend.”
Hongjoong chuckles, his face reddening slightly. Before he could respond, a familiar voice interrupted.
“Joong?”
He turns to see Dann standing a few feet away, clutching a soda.
“Dann?” He says, confused “What are you doing here?”
“Yunho texted me,” Dann says, glancing at the boys “Thought it’d be nice to hang out.”
Hongjoong stiffs slightly “Oh... Uh, cool.”
Dann steps closer, her gaze lingering on him “It’s been a while. You’ve been… busy.”
He scratches the back of his neck, glancing at his friends for support “Yeah, I guess I have.”
Dann smiles, though it doesn't quite reach her eyes “With YN, right?”
“Yeah,” He answers, his tone cautious.
Yeosang, sensing the tension, jumps in “Hey, let’s hit the games. Air hockey, anyone?”
“Sure,” Dann says quickly, stepping closer to Hongjoong “We can team up.”
Hongjoong hesitates. He knows you don’t like Dann being around him—and he can't blame you. Dann’s feelings for him are obvious, you told him from the beginning and he can already confirm it.
He doesn’t want to hurt Dann, but he also doesn’t want to disrespect you.
“Actually,” He starts, his tone gentle but firm “Why don’t you play with Jongho? He’s unbeatable.”
Dann’s smile falters “Oh. Right. Sure.”
Yunho raises an eyebrow at Hongjoong, but doesn’t comment. They are all aware of the feelings of both, Dann in love with Hongjoong and Hongjoong with you, they just hope that things don't get awkward in the future.
As they move toward the air hockey table, Dann hangs back, watching Hongjoong laugh and joke with the others.
Her chest tightness. Hongjoong was pushing her away—kindly, yes, but it was still rejection. And she knows why.
It 's not fair. She had been there for him when no one else was. She had defended him when people mocked him for being a nerd. And now, he was choosing you. Again.
Her phone buzzes, breaking her thoughts. She pulls it out to see a message from Mike:
Mike C: Stay focused. Remember our deal.
Dann clenches her jaw, her fingers tightening around the phone.
If Hongjoong wants to choose you, fine. But you don’t deserve him. And Dann is going to make sure he sees that—no matter what it takes.

The cafeteria is alive with its usual energy, but the corner table claimed by you and your entourage buzzes with a more refined excitement. The topic of the day? Saturday’s celebration for Mike at the Ritz.
“So,” Mindy begins, twirling a strand of her perfectly styled hair “Who’s already stressing about their outfit? Because I may or may not have gone a little overboard at Valentino yesterday.”
“Only yesterday?” Wooyoung teases, smirking “Some of us have been planning for days. I’m bringing the tux my dad wore to that gala in Monaco. He swears it’s vintage gold now.”
You scoff, taking a delicate sip of your iced coffee “Monaco tux or not, just don’t embarrass me, Woo.”
“Moi? Embarrass you? Never, babydoll.” He grins, leaning back in his chair.
Mindy sighs dramatically, resting her chin in her palm “I still think about the last party. The lighting, the flowers, the champagne towers. Do you think they’ll top it this time?”
“They’d better,” You reply nonchalantly, though your gaze flickered briefly “My parents love to ‘impress.’ It’s practically their brand.”
“And what time should we grace them with our presence?” Another of your friends, Samantha, asks, pulling out her phone.
“Seven-thirty, at the Ritz. And be punctual. This isn’t one of those parties you can show up fashionably late to.”
“Noted,” Wooyoung says, tapping the time into his calendar “And little Hongjoong? Are you ready to make your grand debut into the Clarke world of extravagance?”
Hongjoong, who has been quietly observing the banter, chuckles softly “I think I’ll survive. YN’s already dragged me through the whole shopping process.”
“Oh, please,” You cut in, smirking “Dragged? You should be thanking me, Joong.”
He raises his hands in surrender, laughing “All right, all right. I owe you one.”
“Just one?” Wooyoung teases again, winking.
Mindy’s eyes lit up as she leaned forward “Wait, what did you go with? Armani? Tom Ford?”
“Tom Ford, It suits him. And trust me, he’ll be turning heads Saturday night.”
“Can’t wait to see it.” Woo says, smirking at him.
“So, how many bottles of champagne do you think your parents are bringing out this time? Ten? Twenty?”
You snort, leaning back in the chair with an air of practiced nonchalance “If it’s less than twenty, I’ll personally tell the caterers to triple the order.”
Wooyoung laughs “Forget the champagne. I’m more interested in how many pastries they’ll have. Last party, I swear I had a religious experience with those chocolate eclairs.”
“Oh, the eclairs,” Sam sighs dreamily “I’ve been thinking about them since then. And don’t even get me started on the tiramisu.”
Hongjoong chuckles, glancing at you “So, is this a party or a dessert buffet?”
“It’s both. A Clarke family event is always an experience. You’ll see.”
“Damn right,” Woo said, raising his water bottle like it was a champagne glass “To YN Clarke and her family's amazing parties!”
The group laughs, the easy camaraderie filling the space. Hongjoong looks at you, a soft smile playing on his lips. You caughting his gaze and, for a brief moment, your confident exterior softened.
The party was just days away, and for now, everything seemed perfect.

The air in the Clarke mansion was a flurry of activity, with staff bustling through the grand halls, preparing for the evening’s event. The clinking of silverware and the faint aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the dining room, where the family had gathered for breakfast.
You sit at the table, scrolling through your phone, your polished nails tapping lightly against the screen. Across from you, Mike is casually flipping through the day’s paper, looking as composed as ever. Your father is already grumbling about last-minute details while your mother sips her tea, the picture of elegance amidst the chaos.
“Dann, can you help me with this?” Dann’s mother’s voice echoes softly from the kitchen.
Dann, trying to stay invisible, hesitates before hurrying to her mother’s side. Together, they carefully carry trays of food into the dining room.
Your father raises an eyebrow, glancing at Dann as she places a platter of fruit on the table.
“Quite the multi-tasker, aren’t you?” He remarks, his tone hovering between sarcasm and indifference.
Dann stiffens slightly, her cheeks coloring “Just helping my mom, sir.” She says quietly.
Before anyone can say more, your mother sets her cup down with a delicate clink.
“You know, I’ve been watching how hard you work around here, Dann,” She says warmly “Always helping your mother, always polite. I think it’s only fair that we extend an invitation to you for tonight’s party.”
The room falls silent. your head snaps up, eyes narrowing slightly, while Mike’s smirk barely conceals his amusement.
“Mom,” You begin, voice sharp “I don’t think—”
“Nonsense, sweetie,” She interrupts smoothly “It’s about time we show a little appreciation. Don’t you think so?”
Dann blinks, surprise evident on her face “Oh, Mrs. Clarke, that’s… I mean, thank you, but—”
“Of course,” Your father interjects, his tone dry “Just make sure you’re aware of the dress code. It’s black tie, not… casual.” His eyes flick briefly over Dann’s simple attire, and the implication hangs heavy in the air.
Your mother’s jaw tightens, and shoots her husband a pointed look “Which is why, sweetheart, you’ll be lending her something appropriate to wear. I’m sure you have plenty of dresses that would look lovely on her.”
Your lips curve into a slow, calculated smile “Of course, Mommy.”
After breakfast, you guide Dann into your walk-in closet with a sweeping gesture, the dazzling array of dresses catching her wide-eyed attention.
She's already entered the closet next to your room, but this one is much bigger. Her fingers trail hesitantly over the delicate fabrics, her expression a mix of awe and discomfort.
She’s never been surrounded by such luxury, let alone been invited to wear it. The second-hand clothes she normally wears couldn’t be further from this.
“You’ve got so many.” She murmurs, her voice tinged with wonder.
You smile, tilting your head “I know, it’s almost a problem, right? Too many choices. But don’t worry—I’ll help you find something that’s just right for tonight.”
Dann nods quickly, her unease flickering across her face. She’s not used to this kind of kindness from you, and it’s unsettling.
But as much as she doesn’t trust it, she can’t exactly refuse either.
You reach into one of the last racks, where the clothes you no longer wear are stored, you pull out a shimmering emerald gown with a slit up the side.
“Here’s a favorite of mine. It’s gorgeous on, trust me. And it’ll definitely help you stand out.”
Dann takes the dress with both hands, handling it as though it might dissolve in her grip “It’s beautiful,” She says, her tone genuine “I’ve never worn anything like this before.”
You smile, masking your amusement “Well, there’s a first time for everything.”
Moving through the racks, you select another gown, this one a deep crimson with delicate lace detailing.
“Or maybe this one? It’s a classic. Wore it to a charity auction, and let me tell you—it turned heads.”
Dann stares at the dress, wide-eyed “Wow. It 's amazing.”
She’s completely oblivious to the fact that these dresses, as stunning as they are, are from last year’s collections—now outdated by anyone with even a passing knowledge of fashion.
To Dann, they’re the height of elegance.
You pull a lavender gown from the back of the rack, its soft beading catching the light.
“This one’s a little more subtle,” You say, handing it over “It’s sweet and sophisticated. I think it’s perfect for you. You can keep it, take it as a gift.”
Dann nods enthusiastically, her unease momentarily forgotten as she clutches the gown to her chest.
“Thank you, YN. This is… this is so kind of you.”
You wave off her gratitude with a bright smile “Of course. It’s my pleasure. Go try it on, let’s see how it looks.”
She disappears into the dressing room, and you lean against the doorway with a smug tilt to your lips.
The plan is unfolding perfectly. These dresses, while stunning in their time, are no longer the kind that command admiration—they invite quiet judgment.
But Dann doesn’t know that, and that’s exactly the point.
When she steps out in the lavender gown, her face lights up “It fits perfectly,” She says, her voice tinged with shy excitement.
You study her for a long moment, your smile never faltering.
“It looks wonderful on you, just wait until you see everyone’s reaction tonight.”
Dann beams, completely unaware of the double meaning behind your words.
“I can’t thank you enough, YN.”
You wave her off again “No need to thank me. I’m just glad you’ll have something to wear.”
Inside, you’re already picturing the whispers and raised eyebrows at the party. Tonight will be a night she’ll never forget—for all the wrong reasons.
As Dann leaves the room clutching the dress, you lean against the doorway, arms crossed. Your mother’s unexpected invitation throws you off, but if Dann is going to attend, you will make sure it’s on your terms.
✮ ⋆
Dann holds the lavender dress against herself, staring at the delicate fabric in awe. She hurries to the kitchen, where her mother is wiping down the counters.
“Mom, look at this,” Dann says, holding the gown up for her mother to see “It’s beautiful, but I don’t have the right shoes or makeup to match it.”
Her mother glances at the dress, her expression softening with a mix of pride and concern.
“It’s lovely, sweetheart, but you’re right. You need to look your best if you’re going to that party.”
Dann frowns “But… I don’t have anything like that.”
Her mother thinks for a moment, before leaving the kitchen she smiles at her “Why don’t you go shopping? Find a nice pair of shoes and maybe some makeup. You deserve to feel special tonight.”
As Dann mulls over the idea, Mike enters the room, his usual air of confidence trailing behind him. Overhearing their conversation, he leans casually against the doorframe.
“Shopping for the party, Dann?” He asks, his tone dripping with feigned interest.
Dann straightens, clutching the dress tighter “I don’t have shoes or makeup, so I thought—”
“Perfect.” Mike pulls out his wallet, flipping through the neatly arranged bills and credit cards. He holds out a black credit card “Here. Get yourself something nice. Consider it a little thank-you for… being cooperative.”
Dann hesitates but eventually takes the card, murmuring a quiet “Thanks.”
Mike’s smirk widens “While you’re at it, I’ve been thinking. Wouldn’t it be amusing if Hongjoong accidentally ended up at the wrong address tonight?”
Dann’s brows furrow “What do you mean?”
“Oh, you know.” His tone is casual, but his eyes gleam with mischief “If YN’s little nerd showed up at the wrong place, it’d be quite the embarrassment. Don’t you think?”
Dann bites her lip “How would we even do that?”
Mike’s smirk sharpens “Simple. We just need YN’s phone. Once you’re back, we’ll figure out the details.”
Dann nods slowly, the plan settling uneasily in her mind. She doesn’t like deceiving Hongjoong, but the thought of disrupting YN’s perfect evening is too tempting to resist.
Later, at the shopping mall, Dann wanders through the perfume section, marveling at the elegant bottles and their enticing scents. She is about to make her selection when a familiar voice catches her attention.
Turning, she sees Hongjoong standing a few feet away, examining a cologne bottle. His brows furrowed in concentration as he sprayed a tester onto a card.
“Joong?” Dann calls, her voice carrying a hint of surprise.
He looks up, a smile breaking across his face “Dann? What are you doing here?”
“Just… shopping,” She says, holding up a small bag “You?”
“Same,” He says with a laugh “YN told me I needed to step up my game for tonight, so here I am.”
Dann’s mind races. This is her chance to plant the seed of doubt. She steps closer, lowering her voice conspiratorially.
“By the way, did YN tell you about the venue change?”
Hongjoong blinks “Venue change? What are you talking about?”
“Oh,” Dann says, feigning surprise “I thought she’d have mentioned it. YN’s mother invited me to the celebration because I’ve been working for YN, so she told me earlier that Mike decided to move the party to that new place downtown, I'll send you the address, but she said something about Mike wanting a more modern vibe.”
Hongjoong frowns, confusion flickering across his face “Why didn’t YN tell me?”
Dann shrugs “She’s probably just busy with everything. You know how these rich people's events are—chaotic.”
He nods slowly, though uncertainty lingers in his expression “Yeah… maybe.”
Dann smiles sweetly, placing a hand on his arm “Don’t worry. Just show up at. You’ll be fine.”
As Dann walks away, a pang of guilt surfaces. But it’s quickly overshadowed by the thrill of watching the plan unfold.
