Fake Ao3 App

Greetings everyone reading this it has recently come to my attention that there is an app claiming to be affiliated with ao3 along with OTW that is not ans has privacy safety concerns.

For context earlier today ao3 was having issues and the Ao3 News Tumblr blog made a post about it. I being in the Cyring Ao3 Down community went to reblog it there and link people who were having issues to the post in hopes for them to understand what was happening if they were not already aware. That was when I came across the following post from @elijah-j

Obviously the edit was not there before. Anyways I saw this post and became confused and concerned.

In case you were not aware ao3 is part of the nonprofit organization OTW. This is very important for serval reasons. One of most being legal protection for both ao3 and the fan content creators that host their content on ao3. Since ao3 does not run ads and are part of a non profit organization they therefore do not make any money off of the fan works hosted there. This therefore gives a lot of protection to ao3 and the fan creators against civil litigation from the copy right holders of the Fandom you wrote for. Since the biggest argument in those cases is about profits and if ao3 was running ads and gaining profit from fan creators hosting the fan content there and or paying the fan creators to do so it is harder for a court case to be nessary and or winnable.

As a fan creators for has over 100 works hosted on ao3 I feel very safe being able to express my fanworks with all this protection. So imagine my concern when I saw the post shown above. I then asked the poster @elijah-j for clarification see the comments below

As seen in the last screenshot as soon as I was made aware that it was "in the app only" my brain immediately jumped to this being a scam since and let me say this load and clear THERE IS AND HAS NEVER BEEN AN APP FOR A03

I then explained this to @elijah-j as seen in the screenshot below

Yep that last screenshot says there was NOTHING IN THE PRIVACY POLICY

This horrible because in a way they have the right to do whatever the hell they want with any personal data they have collected on you.

I proceed to let @elijah-j that i think they should report said app to the play store and ao3 because this could cause many problems for a lot of people. @elijah-j agreed with me and did so.

So if you are using an app that is using ao3 name you should report it to the app store and ao3 along with deleting your account on the app if possible then the app.

If you used a similar password to any other website you should change the password.

I will find the link again of where to report it to ao3 along with more information about ao3 and the law if you are interested about the importance of ao3 not having ads.

For some reason, people keep private messaging me over on FanFiction.Net to ask about art commissions, which would theoretically be fine, but then they've also reached out here and on Discord. Each time, it's an exchange over them wanting to do an art commission for me, and I tell them no because 1. I am an artist—I can make my own art, and 2. if I were GOING to hire someone for art comms, it'd be @roslynnsommers because she's one of my best friends, and her art is LIT 🔥So of course they ask if it's a funds issue. Kinda? But also I have x y z other reasons, please respect them.

And I get it. The economy sucks right now and we all need more money than we have. Times are hard! But I can't help but feel a little harassed and even stalked when people chase me on THREE DIFFERENT PLATFORMS to press me to buy art from them.

Artists, I understand, but read the room. If you're thinking of doing this—please don't. It's actually very disconcerting and not at all endearing.

Story description:

Kenny, or better known as Princess Kenny, teaches Stan how to be a proper Magical Girl, and save the world from dangerous monsters that feed off of the negative energy from humans, whilst also battling their own lovesick demons.

(Kenny's pronouns change from She/her to He/him throughout the fic!!)

Prologue under the cut (for those who are interested)

Stan stood in an endless abyss of darkness. He figured he was dreaming because… people don't normally stand in endless abysses of darkness. He began to take a couple steps forward, each step eliminating the floor in many colors.

“I've finally found you.”

Stan froze up at the sudden voice. It was disoriented, as if the speaker's voice had been edited to hide their identity. Just then, the floor began to rumble. Stan's eyes darted around the black abyss, terrified and confused, until the darkness that surrounded him slowly began to come together, rising from below Stan's feet as what looked to be a monster. The darkness that once surrounded Stan had become a bright white. An endless void of light. Stan silently wished there was an option to return to the darkness as the light was too bright for his fragile dark-mode eyes.

“Fear. Uncomfort. I love it. Give me more… help me end your life with your very own feelings.”

It was true. Stan was feeling those things. He wondered when he would wake up from this horrible nightmare. He wondered if there was a way to get a drink in his void dream. His breathing unsteady and his steps uncoordinated, Stan began to walk backwards, away from the creature, but tripped on a puppy, falling onto his backside. A good indicator that he was, indeed, dreaming.

The creature laughed and towered over Stan's frightened body. “Soon we will be rid of the human race… and you'll be the first to GO!”

Stan gasped, shivering as if he had fallen in a pile of snow. Suddenly, he was in a pile of snow. You would think Stan would have control over his dream once he realized it was a dream but alas, some things in life are unfair.

The creature rose an arm over Stan, preparing to squish his body under it. Stan wondered if he could die in a dream. He wished he could not. Before it reached Stan, though, a flash of pink, purple and sparkles of glitter, knocked the creature across the void, saving Stan from his impending doom. Through the glitter, sparkles and an odd pinkish purple aura, stood the silhouette of a girl holding a wand. She turned to face Stan, holding out an arm for him to take.

“She saved me!” Stan shouted. “A magic girl in my dream saved me! And I tripped over a puppy!”

Kyle snorted. “Was it me?”

“Psh, nah.” Stan replied, shaking his head. “She wasn't a redhead, plus, she was kinda short.”

Kyle sighed, giving Stan a playful pout. “Aw, dude, I thought I’d be the one to save you from monsters in a pink glittery dress!!”

“Haha stop it, dude!!”

Kenny's eye twitched as he listened to Stan and Kyle pretend they were the only fags on earth, which happend a lot more than one would think. His irritation was moreso directed to Kyle though, not that he knew why. It just upset him how Stan and Kyle could talk so easily together, like it was no one else here but them. He and Stan could never talk this freely, as they had unresolved and unmentioned tension between them that ate at their will to carry a conversation. That isn't to say they aren't friends and can't have friendly chats, it just upset Kenny way down deep in his heart in a way he couldn't quite understand yet.

He crossed his arms and glared at the floor as they walked and Stan and Kyle talked. He wondered if Stan would care if he knew that, that "Magic Girl" was actually Kenny. He wondered how Stan would react.

"He probably wouldn't even care..." He mumbled to himself. "He doesn't even-"

A scream. Kyles scream.

"Kyle!!"

Kenny turned around only to find another monster. This one held Stan in the air and seemed to have thrown Kyle across the street and into some snow.

"Oh shit!" Kenny panicked, looking around for something... Or someone. "Mr. Possy!!"

"I'm here!!" A pink possum with tiny wings flew over Kenny's head and into his arms. "It is way too early for this."

Kenny rolled his eyes, preparing for his transformation into Princess Kenny. "You're telling me."

many adjectives could be used from Paris' press to describe Chat: brave, funny, flirty, a Casanova, screw-up, dumb. However, she noticed that all of them failed to mention this sweet dorkyness and unwavering hopeful eyes that he was showing right now, and she suddenly understood why Ladybug wanted him around even with his flaws. It was endearing, really, and she suddenly felt way more at ease at being there with him.
