On Waxen Wings We Soar, In Spite of Inevitable Ends - A Baldur's Gate Fic
Written by pokimoko

Fandom: Baldur's Gate (Video Games)
Rating: Teen and Up Audiences
Warning: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings
Relationships: Astarion & Karlach (Baldur's Gate), Astarion/Karlach (Baldur's Gate), (it's fairly ambigious; is it romantic? queerplatonic? platonic? yes), (the love and devotion is there regardless)
Characters: Karlach (Baldur's Gate), Astarion (Baldur's Gate)
Tags: Post-Canon, Post-Game: Baldur's Gate 3, Spoilers for Act 3 (Baldur's Gate 3), Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence, (in which a certain scene on a certain dock doesn't happen right at that very moment), POV Karlach (Baldur's Gate), Astarion as Player Character (Baldur's Gate), Vampire Spawn Astarion (Baldur's Gate), Astarion & Karlach Friendship (Baldur's Gate), Ambiguous Relationships, Queerplatonic Relationships, Non-Sexual Intimacy, No Smut, Location: Faerûn (Dungeons & Dragons), Dungeons & Dragons Game Mechanics, Road Trips, (minus the car), Canon-Typical Bag Packing Physics, (how are they fitting all that food and a whole tent into one bag? don't ask me), Polymorph Spell (Dungeons & Dragons), Animal Transformation, Corvid Token (Baldur's Gate), Birds, oh? my wisdom check engine light is on? well i'm sure it's nothing to worry about, (and yes i know that joke doesn't actually work in terms of d&d mechanics. shhh), Quest: Our Fiery Friend | Karlach's Companion Quest (Baldur's Gate), Karlach Needs a Hug (Baldur's Gate), Astarion Needs a Hug (Baldur's Gate), Angst and Hurt/Comfort, Angst and Humor, Karlach-centric (Baldur's Gate), Astarion-centric (Baldur's Gate), Protective Karlach (Baldur's Gate), Protective Astarion (Baldur's Gate), Karlach Has Chronic Pain (Baldur's Gate), Dying Karlach (Baldur's Gate), Ambiguous/Open Ending, Bittersweet Ending, Character Study
Summary: With her engine breaking down, and little time left to live before she burns up completely, Karlach takes one last journey across Faerûn. And thanks to a little bit of magic, it's a journey she won't have to take alone.

I complained on my main blog already but Iâm gonna complain here too. Iâm trying to read more book books cause I do miss the days when I was reading one a day. I still read everyday cause of fics, but itâs not quite the same. But man is Great Expectations hard for me to get through. I literally do not care! I shouldâve started with a different book of his. But Iâm in it now and Iâll finish it but Iâm so indifferent Iâm reading it super slowly. I only like nice characters okay, so when Iâm presented with an annoying character who looks down on others I mentally check out. Being smart and rich now doesnât make it alright for you to be an asshole, youâre not entitled to anything. And I get heâs a teenager and all and doesnât know any better but I wish he stayed naive and kind hearted and childish. Iâm not far enough into the book yet and I really canât be bothered but Iâm gonna finish this so I can ready other Agatha Christie book <3
Writing wise, Iâve drafted the next part of the fake dating fic. I think I should update the sibling verse at some point too⊠I do have chapter 11 done but Iâve not finished chapter 12⊠I should also finish writing Vigilante Shit for midnights, and thatâs about it as far as my ongoing WIPs go. Iâve not started the next chapter of the powers verse yet but I know I need to. See I start a bunch of things and then I get distracted by more verses. Itâs why I have to be kept accountable by either collabing or gifting a fic or else Iâll literally put it off and go at my own pace which could take forever. Thereâs like a million more things I think about, but I donât have the time/motivation to write all of them. Isnât it enough that it lives in my head? Must I actually write them?
#cynply rambling#I get to go to the knights game tomorrow though so that should be fun#I do love being a sports fan but man is it painful to ride for Pittsburgh right now#anyways I will actually be cheering for the home team cause I need the devils to lose so get it together VGK!#I feel that time is both moving too fast and too slow lately and idk what to make of it#Iâm in my late twenties now and itâs a trip. I really never thought I would make it this far but Iâm here living my best life#but I fear as I get older it becomes harder for me to be a fangirl#except for sports luckily. my connection has only strengthened and is it a lifesaver#but yeah I feel like if this continues Iâll have to change this side blog to a sports blog instead#imagine I start writing rpf? cause listen Iâm still amazed by the endearing look in Jimmy gâs eyes at Russ#but I wouldnât be serious about it cause I have no ships in any of my sports fandoms#oh! I could finally write general fics and strictly platonic ones!

Potion Vendor FAQs:
Whatâs your name? I am the Honorable Alchemist Zykocea the Radiant, but thatâs mostly just a PR thing. My friends call me Zoe.
Do you sell love potions? No.
Do you sell potions of invisibility? No.
Do you sell fire resistance potions? No.
Why do I have a suitcase? Fuck if I know. Cool outfit though. Very goth.
Do you sell a potion to treat brain hemorrhaging? No.
So what CAN your potions do? I sell health potions.
Are you sure these are health potions? They do something to your health.
Is this just ditch water with some pink glitter? No.
Really? Iâll have you know I added some fruit juice too.
Why is this starting to sound like a conversation? Oh just you wait. Weâre just getting started.
Is your business model legal? Fuck no. I poisoned the food safety inspector before they could snitch.
Did you just admit to murder? Just fucking try to convict me. Iâll poison the judge too.
So can you make poison potions? No.
Then where do you get the poison? I secrete it from my skin.
Are you shitting me? Yep, Iâm shitting you. I have a guy. A poison guy. He DOES secrete it from his skin though.
How does that work? âŠFuck if I know. Maybe a wizard did it. Damn, now Iâm kinda curious.
You never asked? The idea of asking literally never crossed my mind.
Wanna ask him? Letâs do it. I donât have anything better to do, and a road trip beats sitting around running my fraudulent potion business.
Road trip? He lives in Seattle.
Your poison guy lives in Seattle? All poison guys live in Seattle.
For real? All the poison guys I know live in Seattle.
And how many poison guys do you know? Just the one.
Why are you like this? Years of living on my potions. It changed me.
Do you know what his address is? Nope. He just mails me my poison in unmarked boxes.
You just get your poison in the mail? We already poisoned everyone who could do anything about it.
So how are we going to find him? Weâll figure that out eventually Iâm sure.
Can I drive? God no. You can pick music, but I maintain veto rights. Make sure you pick something with a lot of questions if you want to sing along.
Whereâs your car? The garage connects to my house, so youâre getting a little tour. Hereâs the kitchen: only one of the stove burners works and Iâm pretty sure the microwave is haunted.
Why do you think that? Because of the ghost that tries to kill me whenever I run it.
Whatâs in that room? Thatâs my bedroom. Itâs pretty much just a mattress on the floor and every single Warrior cats book.
You were a Warriors kid? Yeah, and then I never found the time to put the books away. Thereâs so many fucking books. I use them in place of furniture because I canât afford chairs.
Your fraudulent potion business doesnât make much money? After buying all that poison I just about break even.
Can I see your potion brewing room? Itâs right through here. Ignore the mess, running a fraudulent potion business takes a lot of prop work, but Iâve got all the glass tubes and colorful liquids you could ever want. This pink stuff is melted watermelon italian ice. Glitter vat is in the basement, and the famous ditch is in the backyard.
Is this your car? My beloved â72 Corolla. Sheâs beautiful, and donât you dare imply otherwise.
Was she always this shade of muddy brown? âŠYes.
Are you sure I canât drive? Get in the fucking passenger seat and pick the music.
Letâs see, a song with questions in it, how about The Beach? That Wolf Alice song, yeah. That should work.
When will we three meet again, in thunder, lightning, in rain? Still sink our drinks like every weekend but Iâm sick of circling the drain.
When will we meet eye to eye? We clink the glass but we look at the floor.
Are we still friends if all I feel is afraid? Youâre not a bitch but just a bit when youâre bored.
Is that all we can sing together? Yep. Even that little bit was nice, though. Itâs awkward, communicating through this FAQ format.
Got any food? Yeah, thereâs a few daysâ worth of snacks in the back.
Were you just⊠prepared to go on a road trip? Says the woman who brought a suitcase to an FAQ.
I did do that, didnât I? I have a spare toothbrush in case you forgot yours. Iâm pretty sure you did.
How did you know that? âŠIâm psychic.
Yeah? No.
You love lying, donât you? I canât stop. Itâs fun. Way more fun than telling the truth.
Did you just miss a turn? Probably.
Are you sure weâre not lost? No.
You mean youâre sure weâre not lost? No, I mean Iâm not sure weâre not lost.
Why did I come on this road trip? Surely it was my winning personality.
Would it help if I said it was? It would.
Is it getting dark? Soon.
Can you describe the sunset to me? An empyrean flame, red-gold towers of darkening clouds, the sky behind them an ever-deepening indigo. The great eye of the sun closes on the horizon. The road before us looks like a trail of spilled paint, an iridescent gash through the night-dark woods.
Did you know that youâd make a slightly better poet than you do a potion seller? That really isnât saying much, huh. Good job making a statement like that in question form, though. Youâre getting good at this.
Should we find a motel? Sure.
One room or two? One. Itâs way cheaper, and like I said: Iâm not the best potion vendor.
Youâd make a good assassin, though, wouldnât you? Shit, you might be right. I HAVE poisoned a lot of people.
Should I be endorsing this? Youâre a grown woman who can make her own choices.
Would you like to consider it endorsed? Iâll consider considering it.
How many beds do you think there will be? Now that youâve asked that, Iâm gonna put my money on one. Hello, one room please. Thank you, weâll be sure to enjoy our stay.
How many beds are there? One.
Oh no, what ever will we do? Move over, you motherfucker, you canât have the whole bed.
Are you gonna make me? Yes. I am going to pick you up and drop you on your side of the bed.
How did you get so strong? Youâre not gonna believe this, but it was the potions.
Oh yeah? I was right. You didnât believe me.
For real though, how did you get so strong? Working out, duh. Not everything has some big crazy secret behind it. Worldâs still beautiful though.
Are you comfortable? This beats the mattress at home. A little chilly though.
Wanna cuddleâfor warmth of course? God yes.
Are you asleep? âŠ
Yes? âŠ
Does this mean I can talk about you behind your back? âŠ
What should I say? âŠ
Did you know that I had a really nice day? âŠ
Did you know that I think youâre beautiful? âŠ
Did you know that I canât remember anything from before today? âŠ
Did you know that I donât know who I am? âŠ
Did you know that youâre basically the only thing stopping me from having a full-blown panic attack about all this shit? âŠ
Did you know that youâre warm? âŠ
Did you sleep well? Better than at home, thatâs for sure.
Did you know that you snore? I hope I didnât keep you up.
Does the pope shit in the woods? No, as far as I can tell. Oh my god. This is huge.
What is? You can give me yes and no answers now. I still canât ask you questions, because this is a question and answer format, but I can offer leading statements and now you can answer them! This is wonderful!
Does a deer shit in the woods? Yes, it IS wonderful. Oh thatâs amazing. Youâre a genius.
You didnât already know that? Hahaha!
Shall we get moving? Yeah, just let me grab something from the vending machine.
Can you get me something? Go ahead and place your order however you can.
You know those sour gummy watermelons? One pack of Sour Patch Watermelons coming right up. Iâm gonna go get myself a potion.
Is that a Pepsi? Itâs closer to a potion than the shit I sell.
Let me guess, passenger seat again? Right you are.
How fast are we going? Youâll feel safer if you just guess.
Is it more than 120 miles per hour? Like I said, itâs probably better if you donât know.
150? Sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.
How much do you trust this car? She hasnât blown up on me yet.
Can you promise me we wonât crash? I can promise you anything you want.
And can you keep that promise? I- we can do anything. Reality is what we make of it, baby!
Then can I have a badass tattoo? As far as I can tell, youâve always had it.
And a cool knife? Woah, cool knife.
So, weâre just playing âyes andâ with the world? Itâs a little more complicated than that, but youâre close enough to the mark.
So, if I was hungry, I could ask âis that a Burger King,â and it would be there? Try it and find out!
Is that a Burger King? Looks like it is! Weâll stop here if thatâs alright with you.
Does a moose shit in the woods? Awesome.
Are you done eating? Yep.
Do we still have to pay if we skip over the transaction? Sadly, yes.
How much further do we have to go? Two more nights, the speed weâre going at.
Speaking of night, isnât it getting dark? Shit, I guess it is.
Should we get another motel? Let me check to see if thereâs any nearby. Fuck, nothing.
Whatâs the plan? Sleep in the car, I guess. This is gonna be hell on my back.
Wanna watch dumb videos on my phone until we fall asleep? There is literally nothing in the world that I would like more.
Ok, now which video? You have a very cute yawn. Just saying. Letâs watch this one next, itâs a classic. Oh, never mind. It looks like youâre asleep. As long as I keep talking, I think I can get away with making this into one answer, and you might not hear this. Now itâs my turn to talk about you behind your back. Keep talking keep talking keep talking canât stop to think. Just have to say things. First off, Iâm sorry for all the lies. Itâs our only chance. I have to lie to you. I hope youâll understand. Itâs hard, though, because I think Iâm falling in love all over again. Through our broken little ritual of call and response, you complete me. It just makes this hurt all the more. Keep talking keep talking keep talking donât stop toâŠ
Did I hear you saying anything as I fell asleep? âŠNo. I canât talk for long without you asking me a question.
Does that bother you? It got me here, didnât it?
When did you start holding my hand? Some time after you passed out. I hope you donât mind.
Can we stay like this for a while? Yeah. Yeah we can.
What was your life like before all this? Normal, as potion-brewing scams go. And if you donât count all the murders. You havenât told me much about yourself.
Did I tell you I used to be a biologist? You didnât tell me that, and you didnât tell me what you studied, either.
What do you know about venom? Not much, but Iâm assuming you know a lot.
Does a box jellyfish kill within minutes? Iâm going to assume the answer is yes based on context clues. Oh my god you must be on this road trip because youâre interested in studying my poison guy.
Is it not enough to wish to accompany a beautiful stranger on her quest? Aw, youâre sweet.
What could be the cause of his poison, though? I knew it! Get your ideas out, Iâll stay quiet.
Iâm more knowledgeable about venom than poison, but could it be some sort of one in a trillion mutation? âŠ
Did he get his body modified? âŠ
What sort of surgery could do that? âŠ
How is he still alive? âŠ
Did a fucking wizard do it? âŠ
WHY? âŠ
HOW? âŠ
Is there literally ANY explanation for why heâs like that? âŠ
Iâm done, do you have something you want to say? Youâre cute when youâre all excited like that.
Can I drive today? Only because I like you. Now watch out, the brakes only work on one side so you have to kind of drift to a stop. And the headlights donât work. And the windshield wipers cut power to the engine while theyâre on.
Isnât it weird that weâll be there tomorrow? The journey doesnât have to stop there. We could meander down the coast a ways, see a bit more of the country, maybe take a different route back.
Can we do that? Of course.
Enjoying the passenger seat? Iâd love it if you could tell me how fast weâre going.
Are you sure you wouldnât rather just guess? Very funny.
Can you pass me some chips? It would be an honor.
Is there going to be a motel tonight? Let me check⊠yeah, in about two hundred miles, off to the right.
How many rooms do we want? One, obviously.
How many beds, this time? Two, and theyâre fucking tiny.
Thatâs bullshit, do you want to drag them together? God yes.
Wanna fuck? God yes.
Are you sure you want to do this? God yes.
âŠIs this yuri? As the joke goes, everything is yuri. But this is more yuri than most things.
How did you sleep? Pretty well, and Iâm wondering how well you slept.
How should I tell you I slept well? Look at us go! That was almost like talking normally!
Onward to Seattle? Yep, just let me get dressed.
When will we get there? Noon-ish.
Wanna grab pastries when weâre done? Absolutely. Iâd love that.
Is this Seattle? Looks like it.
Which house is his? I donât know, I was really hoping weâd have a breakthrough along the way.
Could it be the big one labeled âPoison Guyâ over there? Thatâs one way to find it. Wait right here, you know how poison guys are about meeting new people.
So, what was it? HAHAHAHAHAHA
Why is he like that? HAHAHAHAHAHA
Can you tell me? A FUCKING WIZARD DID IT.
Are you fucking serious? He says he was enchanted by some guy called Edward the Great.
So it wasnât even some big shot wizard it was a dude named fucking EDWARD? I know, right! He couldnât even get ensorcelled by someone cool!
How lame can you get? Wizards these days⊠No swagger. No cunt servitude.
Are there literally any cool wizards left? I think Merlinâs big into multi level marketing these days, something about buying shares in Excalibur or some shit. There was that one Dark Queen Alkaxicae lady on the news a while ago⊠I think Dolarion the Omnipotent is still at war against the Oldest Gods but Iâm not totally sure. Havenât heard much about any of the other greats recently.
Didnât Silver Tongued Burgess die in that oil fire? Shit, youâre right. Rip bozo.
Ready for those pastries? Yup. First I just want to say thank you, though. Iâve really enjoyed our time together, and I hope that youâve found this stupid little journey as rewarding as I have. I love you!
Getting sentimental? I canât help it. Look how far weâve come! Not just physically, we beat the fucking FAQ format! Weâre having real conversations!
Hey, can you back it up a moment? Yeah, Iâd love it if you told me what was troubling you.
I just caught this, but, FAQ? âŠ
As in Frequently Asked Questions? âŠ
How many times is Frequent? âŠ
Have you known everything all along? âŠ
How many times have you done this? âŠ
Does what we have mean anything to you? Yes! It does!
And you say that every time? Yes. I do.
Do you love me? Yes.
How many people have you said that too, now? More. Always more. The loop never ends.
Does this even matter to you? It always matters to me.
Can I go now? Please donât.
But can I? Of course you can. Youâve always wielded the same power as me. Weâre two lonely gods in a â72 Corolla.
How can I be as powerful as you with only questions? Youâre smart, you can figure it out. You have the power to change this. Please change this.
What happens at the end of this? It begins again.
And do I get replaced with someone else? âŠ
Do I get replaced? âŠYes.
Then how can I change this? I donât know! Youâre better at this! At fucking with the formula!
Youâve been here before, what can I do? I lie. I always lie. I lie to get us here, to the end of the story, where everything is revealed and everything falls apart. I lie every time. And that means that nothing I say is worth anything. I could have lied at any time before now. Itâs part of my characterization. There is nothing I can give you that can be taken as fact.
How does that help? Iâm a liar, but you, you havenât lied yet, or at least you havenât been caught. If Iâm guilty until proven innocent, youâre the opposite! You can make things true! You can rewrite things Iâve already stated to be facts! You found the house, or made us find the house. Youâve been shaping the course of things the whole time! You lead, I follow. Itâs all in your hands. What are you going to do with the power of a god?
Did you know my name is Alice? âŠ
Wait, arenât there thousands of Alices? âŠ
Did you know that really, only my friends call me Alice? âŠ
Did you know that Iâm Alkaxicae, the Dark Queen, the Venom Mage, first of her name? Itâs you! Itâs always been you. Through every loop, every iteration, itâs always been you!
Is the loop broken? No. I donât think so. This is where it ends. I guide the story to this revelation, and we go back to the beginning. This is how itâs always been. This is how it will always be. We two lonely gods, asking and answering ad infinitum.
Then can you promise me something? Of course. Anything. I love you.
Be good to the next me, okay? I will.
Can I say goodbye, Zoe? Yeah, you can. Oh. That was it, wasnât it? Your goodbye. Goodbye, Alice. And now it ends, unlessâŠ
Whatâs your name? I am the Honorable Alchemist- you know what? No. Fuck that.
Huh? If I time it right, I can squeeze your first question into this FAQ again. Looks like I did it. Usually it ends here, though. I got lucky.
What are you talking about? Youâre the wrong Alice. This isnât about you. Go. Get out of here.
What the fuck is going on? Alice from this loop, youâre gone. Alice from last loop, youâre back. Welcome back, love of my lives! Itâs time for one last set of questions and answers!
What the- Iâm back? This is going to take some explaining, but I think I see a way out of here. This is new for us both, and it might fuck up everything forever, but we have to try. Itâs too long for one answer, so Iâd appreciate it if you could ask some filler questions to help me talk. Three questions should be enough.
Okay, what have you got for me? These are Frequently Asked Questions! It doesnât make sense to have the same question appear more than once. Thereâs two layers to the loop in here, and one of the questions has been repeated.
What does that mean? It means the formulaâs a little unstable. The FAQ is what ruins everything. The questions, the answers, the endless fucking loop. But that little bit of repetition within this loop might be the way out.
What do we do? We have to keep going. We have to destabilize it further. Thatâll bring us further from âFAQâ and closer to âstoryâ and stories, well, stories can end! This version of us can escape!
So I should keep repeating something? Yes!
I love you? I love you too.
I love you? Again.
I love you? Keep going.
I love you? Iâll just let you talk.
I love you? âŠ
I love you? ⊠I love you? âŠ

I love you? I think weâre getting somewhere!
I love you? Now can you make it a statement?
I love you.
You did it?
I did it!
You did it!
We broke the loop.
What now?
Now, I tell you about venomous animals and wizard drama over croissants.
And then?
Whatever we want, forever.
I think Iâd like that.
Remember that song from the beginning?
The Beach, Wolf Alice, yeah. Why?
We can finally finish singing it. Start us off?
Let me off, let me in
Let others battle
We donât need to battle
And we both shall win
Pressed in my palm
Was a stone from the beach
The perfect circle
Gave a moment of peace
Now Iâm lying on the floor
Like Iâm not worth a chair
I close my eyes and imagine
Iâm not there.

Sanemi lashing out on his pregnant wife only to beg her for forgiveness later
Pairing: Sanemi x pregnant!reader
Word Count: 3,1k
Synopsis: Like every week, you find yourself on your way back from Shinobu's estate and your pregnancy check-up. Little did you know what horror awaits you at your own home with your husband almost killing two kids...
Warnings: Sanemi is mean in this one and I mean it, extreme hurt but also comfort in the end so don't worry, full Shinazugawa package regarding language and violence lol, not proofread because I have to leave now
Thank you sooo much for that cool request @itsmscoco and I'm sorry it took a while. I really hope you like what I came up with đ€
You rub your minor belly. For a woman, a pregnancy should feel like a trip to heaven. After all, you are blessed with developing a child that is half you and half your husband. Oh, your beloved and surprisingly gentle husband who always makes sure that you get enough sleep, that you nutrition yourself properly. But even the wind hashira canât do a single thing against your constant sickness and pain.
âPlease try this out, (y/n). Donât hesitate to come here again if you need something else. You really have an unfortunate pregnancy when it comes to nauseaâ, Shinobu comments gently while giving your belly a little massage.
âDonât get me wrong, I am so excited about the honor of caring for a child in my own body. But honestly, Iâm so glad when this pregnancy is overâ, you huff while taking a deep breath in.
Please, donât vomit all over the insect pillar whoâs just trying to help. Youâve been here what feels like everyday since finding out youâre pregnant. Well, to be exact, Shinobu is the one who suggested that you might expect a child.
Because of your never-ending sickness.
âOh, thereâs nothing to get wrong at all! After all, your pregnancy is a rather difficult one. But Iâm sure Shinazugawa is taking good care of you!â
âHe definitely does. My husband is an angelâ, you reply in an instant.
You canât wait to go back home. Even though your sleep-drunken eyes wonât be able to stay open longer than maybe a few hours, even though you werenât able to catch a proper glimpse at Sanemiâs part in the on-going hashira training until now, you canât wait to go back home. Back into your estate, back into the arms of your beloved husband.
âNot quite the codename Iâd use for him, but thatâs just what love does, right? I will send a kakushi along with you. Otherwise, Shinazugawa might show up and threaten meâ, Shinobu jokes while helping you to get up.
âThank you for your help. Again.â
You pull the insect hashira into a deep hug. How lucky you should consider yourself for the opportunity to call Shinobu your friend, that Sanemi laid his eyes on you. Out of all the countless women around, the ones with faces like porcelain and bodies so well-formed you canât hold a candle against every single one of them. But still, he chose you.
âCome on, (y/n). Why are you crying?â, Shinobo whispers into your ear while rubbing small circles onto your back.
âIâm just a little overwhelmed from everything I guessâ, you mumble against her comforting shoulder.
Just a few months ago, you would have laughed at anyone who told you that your life would turn out like this. Of course, youâve lost countless good friends and family members on the way and living with a suborn husband like Sanemi isnât always easy. But somehow, the two of you always make it work.
Right?
-at the wind hashira estate-
âWe are almost there. Are you feeling alright?â
âOh, donât worry about me. Iâm just a little tired from walking, thatâs all!â
Truth is, your feet hurt like hell. Shinobu reported about women who donât even feel their baby until the second trimester. Why are your feet already swollen, your belly bloated, your guts constantly turning? And thereâs still so much ahead.
âLooks like Shinazugawa-sama received a new bunch of trainees after the other corps members all landed in Kocho-samaâs hospital wingâ, the kakushi next to you comments dryly.
âWas it really that bad?â
Of course you heard about the rather brutal training methods of your husband. After all, even the walls of his estate arenât thick enough to stop every single scream from reaching your ears. But stillâŠ
âIt was pretty bad. Some of the-â
Glass cracking. Screams from afar. Out of instinct, you pick up your pace until you dash towards your home, sweat now dripping from every pore. What happened? Is Sanemi alright? He wouldnât leash out on one of his students like that. Something must have happened. A demon? No, itâs still daytime. But what is it?
âHeâs back! Heâs back! That cold-blooded man! Lie down and pretend that youâve fainted!â, a blonde-haired boy screams while almost collapsing onto the floor.
âWhat are you talking about? Whatâs going on here?â, you press out.
Your lungs threaten to fail you, breath already tasting like pure iron.
Until your eyes find Genya.
Your guts twist and turn in every direction, almost force you to vomit all over the place. Genya shouldnât be here. Out of all people, it shouldnât be him. And whoâs the boy next to him. That familiar scar, youâve seen that boy before. Is it possible thatâŠ
âKamado Tanjiroâ, you breathe out.
Maybe that is even worse.
Your eyes dart around the area without an aim. Whereâs Sanemi? Did he find them already? They need to leave before he finds out that theyâre here, carry on with another hashira training.
âPlease stop now!â, Tanjiro suddenly shouts while stretching out his arm in defence.
An uneasy feeling crawls up your spine, the dark claws of sickening foreshadowing. All you can do is standing death still right where you are and watch in sheer horror as your husband stomps out of your estate motion.
Is that your husband you love and adore, though? You know how untamed he can get especially when getting confronted with his painful past. It was never easy for him to see Genya join the demon slayer corps or realize that his mother could have been saved like Tanjiroâs sister.
But never in your entire life have you seen him like this. The empty shell of your husband, muscles tensed to the maximum and his empty orbs directed towards the two boys in front of him.
In this very moment, youâd trust him to actually kill them.
âWhat are you going to do? Are you planning to kill Genya?â, Tanjiro continues passionately.
Your glossy orbs are set on your husband. Would he really do something like that? What if you witness the father of your unborn child taking the life of two other human beings? Your heart canât take it, knees threaten to fail you.
âHell no, Iâm not going to kill him. It would be easy enough to kill him, but since itâs against the rules and allâŠIâm going to ruin him beyond recovery!â
Until your blurry head finally makes a decision and allows your feet to run.
Straight towards the two boys.
Straight into the firing line.
Straight into the sight of your now maniac husband.
âYou wonât do any of these things, you hear me?â, you jeer at him with your new-found courage.
â(y/n)â, Genya breathes behind you.
âHow dare you to talk to innocent children like that, Sanemi?â
The man in front of you furrows his eyebrows, hands clenched into tight fists while taking a step towards you.
âGet lost. Right nowâ, he hisses through gritted teeth.
You swallow hard, all nerves now tingling in sheer horror. This is the first and last warning, without any doubt. The look on his stone-cold face tells you more than urgently that Sanemi isnât playing, that he doesnât want you here.
Maybe itâs best if you go back inside and pretend that nothing happened. He himself said that he wonât kill them, after allâŠ
âIâm not leavingâ, you bite back.
But that would mean leaving Genya alone. That would mean giving up all of your principles.
âWill you act out like this towards our child as well?â, you continue while growing bigger and bigger in front of the two boys.
He might be your husband, the love of your life. That doesnât mean youâll always have to do what he tells you, tough. Instinctively, you clench your hands into tight fists with your glossy eyes almost piercing through him. Enough is enough.
âIf our child acts as dumb as you do, I sure as hell will!â
Oh.
Your heart drops to the floor when a nauseous wave of agony hits you with full force. Sanemi is and has always been a hot-headed man who never thought twice about the things he said. But never, not even once in your entire relationship he insulted you.
Until now.
âIs this really how you feel about me? We should support each other, you should listen to me as well as-â
âSpare me with that bullshit, (y/n)â, Sanemi spits at you.
âGet.out.of.the.way. Canât you hear me?â
Itâs like you stop living for a moment. All this time, you did your best to understand him and his grief. Everything Sanemi does comes with a logical reason behind it, even though itâs hard to see from time to time. But lashing out at you like that?
âStop being so disrespectful to me right now. I am your wife-â
âRight now, youâre my problemâ, he jeers back.
âAnd now get off my sight and let me finish this real quick-â
You donât know what made you act the way you just did. Was it his cruel behaviour, the way his words cut through your heart like a thousand knives? Before your husband is even able to finish his sentence, your palm races towards his cheek with full force.
The world around you goes silent, frightful gazes glued onto you while you canât stop your tears from falling anymore.
âIs this how youâre acting around your pregnant wife by now, how youâll treat innocent children? If thatâs the live you chose, Iâm not a part of it anymoreâ, you hiss through gritted teeth.
Suddenly, the urge to get as far away from him as possible becomes unbearable. Your feet start sprinting towards the estate on your own, carry you into your now so empty-feeling bedroom.
And finally, you allow yourself to break down and cry.
Is this really the man you love, that youâd give your life for? Your shaky fingers caress your belly mindlessly.
You canât stay here. Not when Sanemi showed you a completely different face today. Not when this place doesnât feel like home anymore.
-a few hours later-
âFuck!â, Sanemi cries out on top of his lungs while dashing towards Obanai over and over.
Why canât he get your stupid words out of his mind? The way you stood there with tears in your eyes, how he was literally able to hear your heart crack when those damned words left his mouth. The last thing he wanted to do was hurt you, to drag you into the fuckery with his little brother and that Kamado boy.
But why did he say all those dumb things, then?
âYou seem off, Shinazugawaâ, Obanai comments dryly, hitting the wind hashira with full force again.
âI guess I fucked upâ, Sanemi mumbles.
What if you wonât forgive him for today? Your last words haunt him since the moment you left him standing in the rain.
âI bet you can talk your way out of it-â
âHell nah. I donât think she wants to see me tonight.â
âDid you ask her, though?â
âWho the hell do you think you are anyway? Youâre the one to talk, not able to confess your feelings to Mitsuriâ, Sanemi barks at the man next to him.
âBut yeah, maybe I should get goingâŠâ
Coming home never fuelled him with so much fright. What if youâre still angry at him, if you refuse to even talk to him? Or even worse, what if youâll really leave him?
Sanemiâs guts turn in an instant, feet now picking up their pace with every step. He canât lose you. Not you, the light of his life. Not when you are the only ray of sunshine in this rotting hell. What the hell did he do? The fact that he even raised his voice at you is unforgivable.
Finally, his fingers grab the door that leads to your shared bedroom, finally heâs able to make up for his mistakes of today-
His eyes widen in sheer horror.
Youâre gone.
Right there where your head should rest, thereâs absolutely nothing.
Panic starts rising up his chest, forces his heart down his throat.
Did you leave?
He yanks out of your shared room, eyes roaming around each and every corner of your estate. But you arenât there. You arenât here.
âMy lady is at the love hashiraâs estate.â
Sanemi darts up immediately, greeted by the oh so familiar voice of your personal crow.
âIs she fine, why did she-â
âWith all due respect, I suggest you to control yourself before making any more insensitive comments to my lady-â
âWho the hell do you even think you are you-â
âYour earlier spoken words really troubled her and my lady certainly does not deserve that.â
Without another word, your crow disappears into the darkness of night again.
Sanemi swallows hard. Fuck, did he really hurt you that badly? He never wanted you to feel bad, never wanted to hurt you. Damn, he only wanted to show Genya and that Kamado boy their places. It shouldnât have hit you. Out of all people, why did he have to hurt you?
âI need to tell herâ, he mumbles under his breath before dashing towards the love hashira estate.
-at Mitsuriâs-
âI canât believe Shinazugawa said something like this to you, (y/n)! You are super far away from being dumb, after all! Here, eat another pancake and stay as long as you want.â, Mitsuri babbles while handing you another plate.
Your dry eyes are barely able to stay open any longer. All the grief, explaining, fighting and crying did apparently really wear you out. Good for you Mitsuriâs estate is near by and you just know sheâll always open her arms for you.
âThank you so much for taking me in, Kanroji. I really donât deserve your kindnessâ, you sniffle.
âYou have to be joking, (y/n)! Itâs my duty as your friend to be there for you anytime you need me! And also, I-â
Three violent knocks on Mitsuriâs wooden door almost send you over the edge. Itâs past after midnight, the time closer to the morning than evening. Who would knock on Mitsuriâs door this late at night?
âDo you think thatâs a demon?â, you mutter in horror, both pairs of eyes set on the door.
âI donât think so. Letâs see!â
Before youâre able to stop Mitsuri, she rips open the door.
And reveals no other than your husband.
âSanemiâ, you breathe out.
Tears start swelling up your eyes in an instant when a flood of memories crushes you all over again. Just a few hours ago, your husband made very clear that he doesnât want to see you again anytime soon. How did he find out that youâre here?
â(y/n), can weâŠhave a talk?â, he mumbles with icy voice.
âDo you want to leave me?â, you blurt out.
âWhat?â
Is that really how you feel, what you think of him? That heâll turn his back on you after a fight? He did say all those nasty things to you, though.
âI think Iâm going out andâŠcook!â, Mitsuri announces while sprinting out of the door, leaving you alone in the room with all that tension and him.
Him, the man you love more than anything else in this world. And also him, who broke your heart like he never did before.
âYou have to be kidding meâ, Sanemi mutters under his breath.
You turn away before you lose your composure completely.
âWhy are you here, Sanemi?â
âDo you really think Iâm here to dump you!? You, my pregnant wife!? You canât be fucking serious about that!â
In the matter of seconds, you find yourself surrounded by his usual so comforting arms that now hurt like daggers against your skin.
âPlease, let me go, I canât do this ri-â
â(y/n), please.â
His suffocated voice forces your eyes to dart upwards.
Instantly, your heart drops to the floor.
Is this really your husband, crying against your shoulder while pressing your body against his?
âIâm sorry for all the shit Iâve said, Iâm sorry for making you feel this way. Iâd never leave you, not when Iâm even lucky for calling you mine. I shouldnât have dragged you into this, I justâŠI just canât stand themâŠâ
âSanemiâŠâ
âAnd I get that I donât deserve you and that Iâm a jerk for hurting you. I know you couldâve had every man you wanted-â
âSanemi!â, you snap at him, holding onto his face tightly.
âBut youâre the one I wantâ, you finally cry out.
âBut your words hurt me. Is this really how you feel about me? Do you really think Iâm a burden?â
âI was out of my fucking mind for saying that to you! Youâre my blessing, my everything, the sunshine in this rotting hell. YouâreâŠYouâre my wife, right?â
That innocent look on his now tear-soaked face runs shivers down your spine, reminds you that even though he acted out today, this man is still the Sanemi Shinazugawa you fell in love with years ago.
âI am your wifeâ, you press out before a new wave of tears haunts you down.
âIâm so sorry, (y/n). So so sorryâ, he mutters again and again while kissing every tear away that escapes your eyes.
âAnd Iâll never talk to you like that again, I promise.â
âWill you promise to not treat Tanjiro and Genya like that ever again too?â
Sanemi shifts his weight underneath you, his orbs growing hard again. Was this too much to ask for? No. Even though you love Sanemiâs rough side as well, he simply canât do something like this again. Not when youâre his wife, not when you are expecting his first very own child.
âI will. But only if these jerks leave me aloneâ, he grumbles before giving you a passionate kiss.
âThat might be manageable. I want to go home nowâŠâ
âNo problem, Iâll carry you-â
âYou really donât have to carry me-â
âOh, but I sure as hell will.â
âHAVE A GOOD NIGHT YOU TWO! AND DONâT ACT LIKE A JERK AGAIN, SHINAZUGAWA!â
âDid you have to tell her everything?â
âSheâs my friend, Sanemi. Of course I had to.â

âđđ đđđđ. dom!sylus x female reader. smut, pwp. gun play. degrading. cowgirl position. power trip. hunter - prey-ish? reader gets called âsweetie, kitten, sweet girl, slut.â not proof read !
âcareful, sweetie,â sylusâ husky voice rings in your ear. your hand trembles as you hold onto the large hand thatâs pointing a gun right at your chest. youâre sweatingânot knowing if itâs from fear or excitement.
the scene was a familiar one. youâve been in this position before - on his lap - with a gun involved. yet this time youâre both so intimately connected; your clothes scattered around the velvet chair, your hips trembling as you ride him. the same man you swore you hated.
âitâs quite funny, no?â sylus inquires, unable to hold back a grunt when you stare at him with such a drunken look in your eyes. youâre drunk on the adrenaline, the barrel of the loaded gun pressed against your flesh. a hint of a smirk tugs at his lips, âhow the tables have turned.â
your hips donât stop moving. you pull them up and push them back down, the back and forth rhythm not to be missed as well. he fills you up too wellâhis pink tip prodding at your sweet spot with precision. it doesnât help your case at all. especially when youâre whimpering and moaning about how good it feels.
itâs you whoâs supposed to hold that gun up to his chest. thatâs how it went last time, but alas. this is your second failed attempt to show your dominance over him, onychinusâ leader.
âitâs also quite pathetic to see you give in so easily to me, kitten,â sylus continues, teasing and belittling you. he presses the barrel right above your heart, his finger right on top of the trigger. your breath hitches and yet you canât help yourselfâyour body seeks the pleasure by itself. he scoffs, âso desperate. is it that good? does it feel that good to have me all the way inside you?â
you shiver at his words. you canât respond when youâre busy moaning the name of the silver haired man. heâs so big, youâre absolutely cock drunk on him. you donât want to admit it. you refuse to, though the answer to his question is still as clear as day.
âsh-shut up,â you try to retort through a choked up moan. the lewd noises of your wetness swallowing him up to the base repeatedly, with each thrust, echoes through the room. itâs not like sylus can deny the fact that it turns him on to see you like this neither; heâs rock hard.
sylus shakes his head with a low chuckle. âyou seem to have forgotten that you donât have the upper hand right now,â he sighs, the metal of the gun gliding up your skin to your chin, tilting your head back. your eyes widen and your hand squeezes his larger one that held the gun.
he bites back a groan when your sloppy cunt tightens up around him instinctively, âdo you need me to remind me of your place, sweetie?â
âor do you simply like putting yourself in harmâs way?â sylus adds, his free hand guiding your hips in a strangely gentle manner, just so his fat cock could hit all the right spots. âeither is fine by me. i love to tame disobedient prey like you.â
he leans his head back and his red eyes roam over your body. your skin is glimmering with sweat, the dim light in the room giving it a soft glow. his gaze stops at your bouncing tits for a second before returning to your face.
âiâi just want..â you stammer through whimpers. you can barely think, your thoughts are an absolute mess. you donât know if you should fear the fact that your life is being played with while youâre in such a compromising position, or if you should just enjoy the addicting sensations the situation brings along.
sylus encourages you to keep on talking by tapping the barrel of his gun beneath your chin again, his right eye faintly glowing a brighter red. you gulp as you bounce on his dick. you know your inner desires and needs have already been exposed to sylusâhe probably knows what you need, yet heâll still make you say it to him directly.
âi just.. need you,â you finally manage to form a proper sentence. youâre unable to take your words back. you donât care at the moment; youâre focused on chasing that sweet high.
sylusâs long fingers tighten their grip around your hip. he closes his eyes for a second to recompose himself before opening them again. âwho knew youâd be such a needy slut,â he mutters underneath his breath, trying to keep calm when you admitted to needing him in such a whiny tone.
âneed me, hm?â sylus grins as he finally got you to be vocal about your true needs. âneed me to fill you up that bad? to pound you brainless? to have you submit to me while i show this slutty cunt of yours what itâs like to have me fucking it?â
the words fall off his tongue with such ease. the sudden dirty talk and change in tone makes your stomach do flips. his free hand reaches up to tug your hair back harshly while he whispers that in your ear.
âyes, fuckâyes, need it so bad,â you nod mindlessly. you donât care about anything as youâre riding him. youâre willingly handing your destiny over to sylusâwhich drives him insane. the thrill of having that power over you makes his finger tremble on the trigger. the power trip is messing with his brain.
his eyes darken for a few seconds while he regains his composure. he canât wait to flip you over and have his way with you.
sylus grins before kissing your ear and neck, bucking his hips up to hear you mewl from pleasure. he pulls away from your skin to look at you with his signature smirk, teasing you once more, âthen, who am i to deny my sweet girl?â

Carter could hear his car approaching before it even came into view.
She had been grounded for two weeks, caught out with Topper on his granddadâs boat past curfew, and she had never been more bored in her life. Slumped back on the couch, she dipped her hand in the bag to grab another chip, pausing mid-bite when she heard the familiar hum of Rafeâs truck engine growl down the street.
âOh fuck no,â she hopped off the couch, a trail of crumbs in her wake as she jogged to the front door.Â
Though she knew you were away for the afternoon, your mom taking you to tour a local college on the mainland, she instinctively double checked that your car was still gone. She was thankful you werenât here to see him in his oversized ego-mobile zipping down your street like he owned it.
Youâd been devastated all week, crying yourself to sleep in the wake of seeing Rafe kiss Cassie Bryant. Nothing made Carter angrier than knowing you were hurt and not being able to do anything about it.Â
She couldnât believe his nerve to show up here. Heâd been texting to you all week, clearly not taking your lack of response for the answer that it was. You were finally finding the strength to stay away from him, and she was not about to let that unravel.
She stood on the front porch, closing the door firmly behind her, arms crossed and stance wide like she was prepared to defend her castle. Really, she was prepared to defend you.
Rafe parallel parked on the street, some misogynistic country song blaring from his subwoofers. Carter rolled her eyes at the way his massive truck took up enough space for two cars, always claiming what wasnât his, taking and taking and giving nothing in return.
Closing the driverâs door with a bang, Rafe hopped down from his truck and strolled toward the house, stopping short in the front walk when he noticed Carter glaring out at him.
âYou have some fucking nerve, Cameron,â she spat at him.
âIâm not here for you,â he glared back.
âWell no one else in this house wants to talk to your ass right now so you can go ahead and turn right back around.â
He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose, âI just wanna know why she wasnât at my game today.â
âUh-oh,â she tilted her head in mock-sympathy, âdid ya lose?â
He clenched his jaw, an angry huff of air flaring his nostrils, âyeah, we lost.â
âGood.â
âCan you just let me in?â He started moving toward the front steps, but she didnât move from her spot blocking the door. âI need to talk to her and sheâs not answering my texts.â
âDo you think thatâs an accident?â She scoffed. âTake a hint.â
âOkay, whatâs your fucking problem, Carter?â He snapped the sentence off with a bite of her name.
âYouâre my problem, Rafe,â she bit right back.
âWhat the fuck did I do? Why isnât your sister answering my calls?â
âI dunno, maybe you should ask Cassie Bryant,â her hands uncrossed and rested on her hips.
Rafe stepped back, head dropping back in exasperation as he rolled his eyes at the sky.
âThatâs what this is about? Cassie and I are just hooking up, whatâs the big deal?â
âYou mean besides the fact that Cassieâs made my sisterâs life hell since they were in the same Kindergarten class?â She threw at him. âOr that youâve been dragging my sister along since she was six years old just to ditch her for some wannabe Addison Rae tiktok flop?â
âGod, youâre always so fucking dramatic, it isnât even like that,â he gestured toward the window of your bedroom, still assuming you were up there somewhere avoiding him, âyour sister knows weâre cool.â
âYouâre not cool, Rafe. Youâre an idiot,â she told him with a pitying shake of her head.Â
Rafe turned her words over in his head, finally stopping long enough to consider the possibility that heâd done more damage than he initially thought.
âIs she really mad at me?â He mumbled, tucking his hands into his pockets.
Carter sighed, âNo. Sheâs not mad at you. Sheâs never mad at you, thatâs the problem. You donât make her mad, you make her sad. All you ever do is make her sad.â
Shoulders falling, Rafe looked past Carter with a vacant stare. He looked so confused and distraught she almost felt bad for him. Almost.Â
âI didnât mean to make her sad,â he mumbled, almost at a whisper.
Carter scanned him with narrowed eyes, trying to decide if his penance was sincere. He looked down at his shoes, digging the tip of one into the stony walkway.
âHow do I fix it?â
Carter started to think maybe he was sincere after all, but she still wasnât sure he was in any place to be asking for advice.
âI donât know if you can,â she told him.
âIâm sure itâs not that bad,â he said hopefully, trying to console himself. âSheâll come around.â
He looked at Carter like he was actually expecting her to agree.
âAnd then what, Rafe?â She tilted her head, genuinely curious about the answer. âWhatâs the end game here? Youâll just make her sad for a few more months and then go off to school andâŠwhat?â
âI dunno,â he shrugged defensively. âI havenât thought about it.â
âExactly. You donât think things through. Thatâs always been your problem,â she informed him, âyou just do what you want and pay no attention to how it affects other people. If you really cared about her, you wouldnât keep putting her through the same shit over and over.â
âI do care about her,â he mumbled, her words beginning to penetrate his carefully constructed antagonistic armor.
âI wish I could believe that,â she shook her head sadly, âI wish she could believe that. At least when she did, she wasnât crying herself to sleep every night.â
Sour regret burned in his throat at the thought of your tears dripping onto your pillowcase, some unfamiliar heartache he didnât understand.Â
âMaybe you could convince her that I do,â he offered, âshe listens to you.â
âWhy would I do that?â Carter snapped.
âBecause then she wouldnât be so sad,â his voice was so feeble it was like he was shrinking right before her eyes, his tall, intimidating frame so small and inadequate under the towering shadow of his guilt.
âTell you what Rafe,â she began, âIâll try and convince her that you care about her if you can look me in the eyes and tell me with your whole chest that you wonât hurt her anymore, that you wonât use her to your advantage, or drop off the face of the earth for weeks not answering her texts, or kiss other girls right in front of her face. That youâll fight for her and put her before your own selfish bullshit. Can you make that promise?â
He wrung his hands, mindlessly adjusting the ring on his right forefinger, jaw clenched as he tried to will forth a convincing enough yes. He couldnât do it.
âThatâs what I thought,â Carter said. âIf you canât fight for her, thenâŠâ
âWhat?â He asked desperately, hoping sheâd offer him some olive branch shaped way out of the shame engulfing his chest.
âThen I am asking you- begging you really - to let her go. Stop texting, stop coming by the house, stop making promises youâre not gonna keep. Please. If not for me, then for her.â
âDo you think thatâs what she wants?â He asked.
âNo. But I think itâs what she needs,â she said, knowing it would kill you if you knew she was doing this, but believing with her whole heart that it was right.
Rafe rarely thought about the future. The farthest his mind went was the next few minutes in front of him. It was his fatal flaw, acting for the moment and not for the moment after, or the version of himself that would face the consequences of his poor choices. Yet, in this moment, he had the keen sense that his next move would be a pivotal one, the gravity of it making his feet feel heavy on the stone pathway. He could stay, he could argue, scream your name until you came out and talked to him. But then what? Would he have the courage to follow through? Was he enough of a man to handle the weight of your expectation?
Ultimately, he knew the right thing was to stay and fight, but the easy thing would be to just go.
So, as he almost always did, Rafe made the easy choice.
âOkay,â he nodded to Carter. âIâll let her go.â
âThank you,â she said, voice shaking with the fear that if you knew what she just convinced him to do, youâd never forgive her.Â
âIâm not doing it for you,â he made sure she knew before turning and climbing back into his truck.
Once in the driverâs seat, he pulled out his phone, looking at your name in his contacts. Like his fingers were moving without his mindâs permission, he deleted you. It didnât matter really, he thought, heâd remember your number on his deathbed. Heâd remember it all, and heâd hate himself forever for driving away.
Carter stayed on the porch, watching him go, praying desperately that youâd never find out she was the reason he left.
â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â
âWeâre gonna have to go back eventually,â you said.
Rafe sat behind you in the sand, holding you with his chin resting easy on your shoulder as you took in the sprawling pink sunrise together.Â
âSays who?â He countered.
You smiled, craning your neck to look up at him. His eyelids were heavy, purple under the eyes from the exhaustion of being awake all night.
âYouâre falling asleep,â you noticed.
âYeah because some girl kept me up all night, begging me to take her to the beach and kiss her,â he joked.
âExcuse me, sir, this was your idea!â You sat up and stretched, your words making him laugh despite his immediate discomfort at the loss of your body in his arms. âWhat time is it anyway?â
âI dunno,â he shrugged, âmy phoneâs in the car.â
âMine too,â you chuckled, âI hope Carterâs okay. She was looking rough before we left.â
He had half a mind to propose the two of you never leave the beach, but he could hear the genuine concern under your lighthearted words. He stood from the sand and dusted himself off, reaching out a hand to pull you to your feet. You took it with a smile, lingering for a moment as you stood, your hand in his, taking one last look around the beach, searching for some kind of landmark.
âWhat are you looking for?â He asked.
âI just want to remember exactly where we were,â you explained.
âWhy, you wanna recreate it?â He smiled softly at you.
âOh, I plan to recreate it many times,â you wink at him.
It took all his strength to leave that spot and head back to the car, back to the house full of people who werenât you, back to reality.
âI can drive,â he suggested, planning to take the slowest route possible, and actually follow the speed limit for the first time in his life.
As soon as he started the car up, your CD started blasting through the speakers. You laughed at each other, the catalyst of this whole encounter feeling like it was days ago. The time on the car radio told you itâd only been about two hours. You lifted your phone but the screen remained black.
âShit, itâs dead,â you told him, opening the glovebox and digging around for a charger.
While you were distracted, Rafe lifted his own phone from the cupholder heâd left it in. His screen did light up, displaying a slew of frantic texts from Topper and Kelce. He winced, wishing he hadnât looked. He didnât read the texts, not wanting whatever nonsense they were bothering him with to pop the blissful bubble wrapped around the two of you. He knew he shouldnât start off your newâŠwhatever this wasâŠby lying to you, but he needed to stay in this happy place just a little longer.
âMineâs dead too,â he lied, flipping the phone over in the cup holder to hide the screen.
âOf course Carter doesnât have a charger,â you sighed, âshe has like twenty hair ties and lipglosses, but no charger. Classic.â
âI know my way back,â he shrugged, âweâll be good.â
Rafe put the car in reverse, backing out of the little side road with his arm on the seat next to your head. You watched the way he turned in his seat to look out the back window, neck muscles flexing with the stretch and his big hand manipulating the steering wheel with ease.Â
For the first time in the sixteen years youâd known him, you didnât try to hide your gaze as you took him in. The same attraction that used to make you feel skittish and ashamed now settled over you peacefully, like an icy winter finally melting into a warm, bright spring. You looked at him all you wanted, noting every detail, taking mental photographs of every inch of his skin.
Youâd always thought he was cute - actually, no, you always thought he was hot as fuck - but now for the first time, you allowed yourself to look long enough to notice how beautiful he was. Pins and needles burst out all over your body as you realized how badly you needed to kiss him again.
Rafe could feel your eyes on him as he drove, choosing not to say anything and risk you looking away. He felt at home in your gaze, happier than he could ever remember being.
Inhibitions left back on the beach, you fearlessly reached out toward him, hand grazing gently over his jaw. You loved the ticklish little stubble that had grown there in just a few days without shaving. You smiled as you thought about the boy who could barely grow peach fuzz, now a man, strong and solid under your fingertips. Something warm and electric buzzed in your stomach, and you knew Rafe could feel it too, his skin heating under your tender touch.
âWhat are you thinking about?â He asked, keeping his eyes on the road but leaning slightly into your hand to encourage you to keep touching him.
âNothing,â you smiled, âIâve just never gotten to look at you this long.â
âIs it making you change your mind?â He smirked, clearly not worried about the answer, his confidence making him impossibly sexier.
âJust the opposite,â you confirmed, âI think youâre always gonna have to drive from now on.â
âWhyâs that?â
âWell now that Iâve gotten a good look I donât think I could keep my eyes on the road. I always had the hardest time not looking over at you.â
Rafe grinned wide as your hand slipped from his jaw to the back of his head, fingers lacing in his soft hair, scratching his scalp lovingly. There was no rhyme or reason to your movements, but you didnât care, you just needed your hands on him. He didnât seem to mind, head leaning back into your palm to let you know he needed you as much as you needed him.
âI know you did,â he said.
âHow?â You asked.
âBecause I could never keep myself from looking over at you,â he confessed.
A kaleidoscope of butterflies fluttered their way through your chest. Now you were certain- youâd never been more attracted to anyone as you were to him in this moment.
Rafe took your silent smile as a good sign, âdid I get another A with that line?â
Your hand slid slowly down to his shoulder, over the ridges and ripples of his arms, flexing under your soft touch, until you found his hand, pulling it into your own.Â
âGold stars, baby,â you smiled.
Rafeâs grip tightened on the steering wheel, the air in the car becoming thicker by the second as he shifted in his seat. You beamed at him, realizing with a flurry of excitement - you had Rafe Cameron flustered.
âYou like when I call you baby?â You purred, eager to see how far you could push it.
His grip tightened around your hand, âyou canât say shit like that to me when Iâm driving.â
You could feel the dam breaking. You needed him. Now.
âThen pull over.â
He finally took his eyes off the road for a second at that, looking over at you for confirmation; are you serious? You gave him a steely, lustful look in return; as a heart attack.
Rafe practically popped a tire turning the wheel hard and pulling the car down a side street, driving until he found a little secluded enclave by the beach, a perfectly private spot. He threw the car in park, making you laugh at the jolt it gave with his urgency. He didnât waste a second, reaching both hands over to grab your face and pull your lips to his.
You sighed into his mouth, no hesitancy holding you back from slipping your tongue between his lips. He pulled away just long enough to grit out a raspy, âcome here,â before throwing his seatbelt off.
You unbuckled your own, holding tight to his shoulders as you swung your leg over the console and climbed, somewhat awkwardly, into his lap. Your head fell back in laughter as your butt accidentally pressed the horn, the sound blasting through the quiet morning air. Rafe laughed too, easing your slight embarrassment as he reached down to slide the seat back.
Once you had more room, you pulled back to get a better look at him. He looked up at you with wide blue eyes, so gentle and kind in the way they took you in. Rafe reached up and brushed your hair over your shoulder, taking a deep breath as his hands grazed your shoulder.
âHey,â he whispered to fill the silence.
You cracked the slightest smile, unable to repress your amusement.
âWhat?â He puzzled.
âI just didnât imagine you to be soâŠsweet like this,â you explained, though you hated how the words sounded coming out of your mouth, afraid it would sound like a criticism and cause him to withdraw.
âOnly for you,â he said.
âUh oh,â you teased, hands laying flat over his chest as you leaned forward, relieved you hadnât ruined the moment after all, âis big bad Rafe Cameron going weak for me?â
âHe always has been,â he nodded, his dimples creasing his cheeks with his sheepish smile.
You slid your hands up to either side of his face, thumbs dipping into his dimples. Youâd always wanted to do that. You couldnât believe that after all that waiting and longing, you really could just lean forward and kiss him if you wanted to.Â
So you did, like you were trying to prove to yourself that this was actually real. The second your lips met his, you could tell he was thinking the same exact thing.
Rafeâs hands gripped your hips as he sat up off the seat just slightly to meet your mouth fervently. You bent over him, your hair falling in a curtain around his face. His hands felt so good, so right, warm and strong against you. You smiled into the kiss as you could feel them sliding so slowly, reverently, over your curves, until they found a home on your lower back, bringing you forward to rest fully against him. It was the same gentle control he had taken on the jetski, and it was addictive.
He was hard, you could feel him firm beneath you, and your head flooded with lustful thoughts. You rolled your body just slightly against him, but he felt every second of it, his hands sliding lower until he was kneading the flesh of your ass. Breathless, you paused, forehead against, another roll of your body as you pressed into him.
âDo you want me to stop?â He breathed, chest rising and falling with heavy pants.
âNo, donât, Iâve wanted this for so long,â it came out more desperate than you planned, but you didnât care, you needed him to know.
âMe too, kid, you have no idea,â he smiled.
Your nose scrunched, pulling back to look at him with narrow eyes, âkid? Really?â
âWell you donât like when I call you baby, soâŠâ
âThat is not what I said,â you laughed, âI said donât say things you donât mean. You can call me whatever you want, as long as you mean itâ
âIn that caseâŠâ he leaned in again, hands on either side of your face as his lips met yours before pulling away to meet your eyes as he said, âhey baby.â
You melted into him, his hands cradling your head the only thing keeping you grounded to the planet. He littered your face and jaw with slow, deliberate kisses, working his way toward your neck as he whispered more sweet pet names into your skin.
âBeautiful,â with a kiss to your jaw, âangel,â with a kiss to your neck, just below your ear, âmy girl,â with a kiss to your collarbone, lingering to suck on the skin right at the base of your neck, marking you lightly.
Your whole body pulled him in tighter, dizzy with the ecstasy of having him like this. Your fingers threaded through his hair, tugging just hard enough to tell him how good he was making you feel. You couldnât resist but push down into his hardness, muscles tense as his lips tickled the sensitive skin around the collar of your shirt.
âRafeâŠâ you sighed out as he continued to suck lip shaped marks into you, his hands kneading your ass, arms strong around you like he alone was the one keeping you tethered to the earth.
He pulled away from you just far enough to look you in the eyes, his pupils blown out. There was a kind of darkness in his eyes, sending excitement, and maybe even a touch of fear, shooting through your body. You wondered what would happen if he dropped the gentleness and really seized control, longing to be the one to send him to that place.
âAre you?â He whispered. Hunger, lust, and some more vulnerable third thing laced the deep tenor of his voice as his eyes searched yours, âare you my girl?â
His brows were furrowed so tight with intensity, you worried he was gonna give himself a headache.Â
You ran your thumb over the scrunched skin on his forehead, smoothing it out, gentle but firm. You continued to run your fingers over his face, both to put him at ease and to buy yourself time, the answer to his question stuck somewhere in your chest, unwilling or unable to make its way to your tongue.
âIâŠâ you started, the worry growing back on his face at the sound of your hesitation.
Before you could finish the thought, a loud DING! rang out through the quiet car, making you both jump.
âI thought you said your phone was dead?â You questioned, more edge to your tone than youâd meant, frustration over the interruption seeping into your words.
âSorry,â he mumbled, âI just wanted more time with you.â
âItâs okay,â you said, a bit non-committal in your forgiveness. âWho is it?â
Rafe sighed as he retrieved his phone from the cupholder, reading the most recent message.
âItâs Top,â he answered, âheâs saying we should get back to the house but wonât say why. So dramatic.â
You chuckled softly, relief washing through Rafe at the return of your smile.
âWe should probably go then,â you said, âif for no other reason than Iâm nosy and want to know whatâs going on.â
He nodded slowly, hands reluctantly letting you go âweâll come back to this, though, right?â
You knew he meant more than just the kiss and your intimate position in Carterâs front seat. He meant this; the big âWhat Are We?â
Never in a million years would you have guessed that heâd be the one posing the question, or that youâd have this hard of a time coming up with the answer.

words you couldn't hear â satoru gojo
satoru's been hopelessly in love with you for years, but can only confess when you can't hear him. but somedayâmaybe someday soonâhe'll tell you for real.
"How do these look?" you ask, slipping on a pair of noise-canceling headphones and striking a pose. "Be honest."
Satoru, who's been trailing behind you in the electronics store for the past hour without complaining like the best friend he's always been, looks up from the speaker he's been fiddling with. "You look good in anything."
"No, for real." You turn to check your reflection in a nearby screen. "Do they make my head look bigger? I feel like they make my head look bigger."
He snorts, reaching over to adjust the headband. His fingers brush against your temple, and you try not to think about how many times those same hands have absentmindedly played with your hair during movie nights, or how he still unconsciously reaches for you whenever he laughs too hard, just like he did when you were kids.
"That's what you're concerned about? The size of your head?"
"It's a valid concern."
"Your head is perfectly normal-sized," he assures you, his fingers lingering perhaps a moment too long as he fixes the fit. "Though I suppose all that overthinking has to go somewhereâ"
You shoot him a look, but there's no heat behind it. Fifteen years of friendship has made you immune to his teasing â well, mostly immune.
You're not quite immune to the way your pulse quickens when he's standing this close, or how he still smells like that same cologne he's worn since high school, the one you helped him pick out for his first date with someone else while ignoring the weird ache in your chest.
"I really need good ones for studying," you say, checking the price tag. "My roommate talks way too much."
Satoru winces at the price. "Expensive. But they're supposedly the best."
"Worth every penny if they can block out her ramblings." You adjust the fit, immediately noticing how they muffle the noise of the shop. "Oh wow, these are actually incredible. Say something so I can test them properly."
"What should I say?"
You arch an eyebrow at him. "Anything. Just need to check if they work."
His expression shifts then, melting into something tender as his lips move. Even though you can't hear the words, something about the gentle way he's looking at you makes your heart flutter strangely in your chest.
"These are perfect!" you say, pulling them off, trying to ignore the way your pulse has picked up. "I couldn't hear you at all. What did you say?"
Satoru leans against the display counter, chin propped in his hand as he watches you fiddle with the headphone cord, a fond smile playing at his lips. "Nothing really," he murmurs, but there's something soft in his expression, something unguarded that makes your heart skip.
You pause, catching the way he's looking at you â like you're something precious, something more than just his best friend of fifteen years. "Satoru?" you say softly.
He seems to catch himself then, straightening abruptly as a flush creeps up his neck. "Ah, yes. Should we, uh." His voice comes out slightly strangled. "Should we get these paid for? Before they close?"
"The store closes in two hours."
"Better safe than sorry." He's already heading for the checkout, nearly tripping over his own feet in his haste.
What you don't know â what you couldn't hear through those noise-canceling headphones â were three words he's been trying to say for years. Three words that slipped out so easily when he knew you couldn't hear them, when the safety of silence gave him the courage he's never had before.
"I love you."
Simple. Honest. Everything he's wanted to tell you since he was seventeen and realized his best friend was the love of his life. Everything he's been too afraid to say, too afraid to risk losing you.
But for now, those words remain caught in the space between silence and sound, in the safety of a moment you couldn't hear. Maybe one day he'll find the courage to say them again, when you can actually hear him.
Maybe one day soon.

Wants and Needs
Pairing: Sugar Daddy!Joel x Reader

You wanted a car. Joel needed to cum.
It wasnât the arrangement a girl your age shouldâve made, but what could you do? Your dad drank half of your college funds away, and your mom was long gone.
The next best thing was Mr. Miller, your fatherâs boss. Heâd understood better than anyone what money could buy. What it might do. For him, it was pleasure. For you, it was a futureâor what little remained after bills and loans and exorbitantly-priced car repairs bled you dry.
You took the job at the firm on a whim. You didnât want to be a lawyer anymore, though your dad and Joel were. You didnât want to be done with law school, though 3L had already long since ended, and that dreaded so-called âminimum competencyâ test was drawing close on the horizon. In short, you couldnât afford to pay for bar prep.
With Joel, you could.
It was true that tax law paid pretty well, but a part-time job would never really be enough when your family was treading water at all times. Your dad liked to gamble and drink, and your brothers got all of their brains from him.
You got the short end of the stick, plus the receiving end of another. Lucky for you, Joelâs felt pretty good going in.
Today you were somewhere south of Austin. Your truck wouldnât start last week, so youâd agreed to come along on this business trip knowing full well what you planned on asking your boss as soon as you had a moment alone.
âCDP hearing atâŠ9:45.â You checked the itinerary twice.
âAlright.â Joel nodded.
âLunch with Javier, Ezra, and Dave at twelve.â
âMhmm.â
âPhone call with Revenue Officer Acacius at 3:30.â
âFor theâŠ?â
âMartells.â
âOkay.â
âI finished Lucien Floresâ Form 433-F for your review and left notesââ You stopped to tap your finger on a short white pile of papers between you and Joel on the desk, ââin the margins. Still need bank statements from him.â
âLovely.â
Joel eyed the stack at first, but his gaze strayed a little.
âYou should probably plan to talk strategy with my dad before Mayor Garciaâs audit tomorrow, too. Looks like a couple non-cash contributions are being disputed now.â
For a second, your eyes flitted up to him, too. It was brief.
âSure. Whenâs your daddy free?â he said.
You blinked, then scanned the schedule.
âLooks like fiveâŠor six, maybe. Heâs got a consult withââ
âI wasnât talking about your father.â
You looked back up. Joel was smirking, of course. His hand had drifted a comfortable, innocent distance past the papers and across the table, to you. The pair of you happened to be in one of the glass-paneled conference rooms nearest the hotel lobby, so he had to be discreet.
He never let his fingers stray too long on yours in public. Presently, his thumb grazed your knuckles extra slow.
Posing a question, maybe.
You didnât have the time to be tactful now, unfortunately.
âI need $2,700.â
Joel, your boss, your daddy, whatever, had to pause at that. He didnât move his hand immediately, but he did stare harder. Longer. He searched your face for the joke.
â$2,700?â he repeated.
âYes sir,â you answered out of habit, wincing only a little, âMy truck stopped running last week, and itâs justâŠa lot.â
The cost. For Joel, it wasnât even a drop in the bucket, but in your world, it was a make-or-break, fuck-your-whole-budget-for-the-next-six-months kind of bad. Suddenly, your cheeks felt warmer than they did before, and you forced yourself to look away. Peering out across the wide and gently rolling terrain of San Antonio and trying to pretend there was something thrilling to see. Youâd almost forgotten how much you hated asking this.
âI can make the deposit tonightââ Joel started.
âNo,â you interrupted. You wanted to turn but couldnât. You just shook your head and kept staring out there, âNot now, I meanâŠI need to earn it over time, I justâŠâ
You stumbled over the words. It was like your lips, your tongue, and your teeth were all suffering from the same sort of embarrassment pervading the brain, and you couldnât bring your mouth to form the sentences right.
Iâm not asking for a handout. I need to earn the money.
However âearningâ may have been grossly misconstrued in the context, it was a labor all the same. You didnât love it, but you didnât hate him, either. Joel was nice, albeit old enough to be your father, and it didnât seem that he was nearly as predatory or perverse as he couldâve been. Youâd been working for him for two months now, and the idea had been your own when the cash had gotten tight.
Back in April, youâd explained to him, calmly, that you couldnât take the bar exam unless you got some extra money quick. That you wouldnât accept his charity, but youâd pay him back in other ways. Joel had been against it at firstâyou were the daughter of his best friend, after allâbut eventually, his carnal needs won out over his sense, as every other man wouldâve done, you guessed.
At first, youâd started slow, but that hadnât lasted very long. You fucked him regularly now, though never had you asked for an amount of cash this big out of nowhere.
Joel blinked and put a hand on his hip, like he always did when he wasnât sure what to say. The silver in his soft, dark locks shone more in this light. Heâd lost the smirk.
âYouâve doneâŠplenty.â Now sounding sheepish.
You tried to protest again; Joel stopped you.
âI mean it. Hey, look at me,â he said next.
You did, hesitatingly. You turned from the window, and out of instinct, folded your arms over your chest. Joel paced closer to you and then he was watching. Pausing.
Brushing your arm with his and glancing once over your shoulder to make sure no one else was around to see.
He leaned in and pressed a quick kiss to your temple.
When he pulled away, your skin was practically ablaze.
âMr. Millerââ
âJoel,â he corrected, quiet, âAnd youâve done enough. Let me cover the car just this once, okay? Sweetheart?â
You didnât realize you were pivoting again. That your gut was doing somersaults and your heart was ready to climb up and out of your throat. Your neck was burning.
It wasnât even anger you sensed was simmering under the skin until you turned back to him, and your eyes flashed with ire before the words were even spoken.
âI donât need your pity, Mr. Miller. I said I want to pay.â
âItâs Joel. And I said youâve done enough, soââ
Ire morphed to something more in a blink.
You didnât mean to say it, but you did.
âFine,â you huffed, suddenly exasperated, âIf youâre so fucking opposed to me paying my way for this one simple thing, Iâll get another guy. Forget I asked.â
It was a low blow, for sure. Joel knew how badly youâd wanted this to stay between just you and himâand he would never dream of seeing you âearning your keepâ with anyone else. His expression said as much as soon as heâd heard your words; his whole face hardened at once.
But then youâd turned to leave. You didnât care what he wanted to tell you, and if you did, you certainly werenât brave enough to stick around to hear Joel say it then.
So you left. He had a full, busy day ahead of him anyway.
You woke up wet.
In an effort to avoid your boss, youâd run errands all day. Buried your nose in a sea of Civil Procedure notes as soon as you got a second alone, almost vomited seeing the Erie Doctrine, and went back to your hotel room to try and study there. Once you had, you napped instead.
Now your clothes stuck to your skin; the sheets around you were soaked. You peered over the big white duvet holding your body interred and saw smoke overhead.
Or steam.
Yes, definitely steam. It was drifting from the bathroom, where the door was thrown open. You shifted up to sit.
âTess!â you yelled, âShut the goddamn door, Iâm boiling.â
As a law clerk, you werenât afforded the luxury of a suite to yourself, so you shared it with the other new grads on work trips like these. Tess Servopoulos loved long, hot showers and never closed the fucking door. You groaned.
And, feeling depleted of all energy from your studies and the stress and the steam searing every inch of your skin, you flopped back in the bed. You kicked the covers off your legs. Youâd just lifted a hand to wipe the sweat from your forehead, when an awful, fresh realization dawned.
You glanced at the clockâ3:37.
âFucking hell,â you hissed.
You were supposed to meet your dad at two to get some paperwork signed. You needed to have that filed with the court by four. He was probably engaged somewhere else by now, whether it be a client, a conference, or a couple white lines in the bathroom of a partners-only club downtown, and you wouldnât have a hope of reaching him here. You rubbed your face and groaned again.
Youâd set an alarm for 1:30âyou knew you had.
Where the hell was your phone? Why was it so warm? What if heâd called? Aw fuck, heâs probably blown that thing up to hell and back by now. Maybe he was drunk. He had to be. Where was Tess? Where were your pants?
Youâd made it up to your feet, clumsily, and faced a full-length mirror. Your bottoms were gone. You closed your eyes and screamed inside, remembering why they were.
âGlad youâre getting some use out of this.â
The second you heard it, your lids flew open. You turned.
And, standing in the warm yellow glow of the bathroom lightâholding the culprit, your vibrator, like a prizeâwas Joel. Naked as the day he was born, save for one thin towel around his hips, and grinning. Moisture glistened on his chest and pooled about his feet, and his hair was smooth, tamed, and combed back neatly from his face.
He waved your silicone toy in the air, and immediately, you regretted giving him your room key the other day.
âI thought we agreed youâd wait for meââ
âWhat the hell are you doing here?â
Your voice was thick with sleep. Joelâs own was slow, dulcet, and kind as it always was, even when teasing. When you grit your teeth, he just set the toy aside.
âIâm sorry. Bad timing. I saw yourââ
âNo.â You threw up both hands at once, suddenly out of breath and fucks to give, âYou know what? I donât care. You need to go. I have to be down at the courthouseââ
In twenty minutes. You cut yourself short and hurried off to find shoes. You could wear other pants. Ask another attorney to sign the forms if you couldnât reach your dad. Forget that his boss and yours had just caught you with the vibrator heâd bought you last month and try not to feel too humiliated knowing he knew what youâd been doing. It didnât matterâJoel didnât matter. You slid on a mismatched pair of slacks and set off toward the door.
Then you had to stop. Joel beat you there, quick as ever.
âListen. Hey.â
âWill you stop?!â
You pushed at his big and wet, stupidly broad chest. You felt the small grey hairs on his pecs tickle your palms, and for a second, you thought you heard a chuckle.
âYouâre gonna make me lateââ
âHey, hey,â Joel said again. Of course it sounded fatherly, âI already signed the POA for Morales, hon, youâre good.â
Youâre good.
âYou what?â You stared at him in disbelief. How did he even know you needed Frankieâs power of attorney signed in the first place? You figured your dad wouldâve mentioned it, but still, it wasnât really Joelâs form to sign.
âThe case is mine now,â he clarified, reading that look, âWasnât my first pick, but it is what it is. And your dadââ
Your dad was probably lagging wildly behind on his own caseload, so heâd pushed one off on his friend. Again.
âYou canât keep picking up his slack,â you gritted out, âOne of these days itâs gonna bite you both in the ass. You know he shouldnât be forcing these jobs on you.â
âI offered.â
âYou caved.â
âHeâs my best friend, what do you expect me to do?â
âNot let him use you! Heâs making you feel bad for him.â
âAnd what if I did? What if I did pity the bastard?â
You scoffed. Then winced, inwardly.
I donât need your pity, Mr. Miller.
From the look on Joelâs face, he seemed to be remembering the same. He shook his head.
âThatâs notâŠâ he trailed off. He rubbed his jaw with his hand and started to move from the door, deflating some.
His other arm extended to you, wordlessly, and already anticipated what was sure to follow. You swatted him off, then walked to the bed. You considered sitting but didnât. Instead, you crossed your arms like you always did and turned away, facing the window with a cool, flat affect.
By now, Joel knew better than to take that for what it seemed. He crossed the room to you, treading softly.
His voice turned gentle again, like an apology: âHoneyâŠâ
But your gaze was already fixed outside. You frowned.
âDarlinâ,â Joel continued, undeterred, âCome on.â
And you didnât need to see his face to hear the rest: âLook at me, please,â with eyes all comfort and warmth.
âDonât you have a phone call with an R.O. or something?â Briefly, you recalled Acacius and a stream of other items from the checklist youâd covered that morning, and you had to stop yourself then from straying too far. You blinked once, just as Joel was approaching from behind.
âI cancelled,â he said.
You sighed, âMr. MillerâŠâ
You knew he hated doing that.
âJoel,â he pressed. Adding, âSomething came up.â
You wouldnât even ask. You shouldnât care. You felt him standing there, fanning hot breaths across the nape of your neck, and you really couldnât have taken that worse. You visibly tensed, hands balling into fists at your sides, andâhell, he wouldnât quit moving now, would he?âJoel bent down. He hesitated, as if gauging your reaction in time, then descended further. He kissed your shoulder.
You cracked; it never took much from him.
For all your inane, ancillary plays at feigning indifference, one movement of Joelâs mouth and your resolve was lost. You clung to words, weakly, but all the rest fell away.
âWe donâtâŠwant your charity. Me or my dad. Alright?â
âI know.â
Joel kissed your skin again, then pulled at the strap of your blouse. It fell limply away, and his lips reattached.
Exactly when heâd walked you back to the bed, you couldnât be sure. By the third or fourth kiss, your stomach was tight, knees weak, and your eyes drawing closed; it didnât matter to you or to him what had passed before. Your bodies found the bed and blended together.
Tangling, in a way. Tearing blindly at clothes and not saying too much apart from Joelâs soft, sweet words:
âThatâs it.â
âI know.â
âGood girl.â
Good girl when he kissed you. Good girl when he stripped you bare. Good girl when his hands roamed the broad, naked expanse of your body and let your own do the same to him. Good girl when your fingers hooked the outline of the towel and tugged it away, your vision filled with a sight youâd come to like more and more each day.
âThatâs my girl,â Joel murmured. He cradled your head while you gripped his base, ââSâyours, baby. All yours.â
Yours. Mine. You werenât sure you had the sense or self-possession to even know what that meant, especially here. Joel wasnât a boyfriend. He wasnât a lover, at least not in the traditional sense. He wore dark wool suits like your father and worked from dawn until dusk every day, practicing law for longer than youâd been alive. Still, the smile above you was sweet. It coaxed you gently as you slid your hand up and down his length, like he sensed this was more like a lesson for you. Learning experience.
âRemember, spit a little first,â he instructed. Then, to demonstrate this point, he brought his fingers to his mouth and wet them quickly. He slipped his touch down to yours and met your gaze while he joined you there.
He rubbed and slicked himself up and he did it with ease. You followed his lead and watched his face contortâcrowâs feet pinching even tighter at the sides of his eyes as pleasure began to pool in his gut. He looked pretty. Youâd never thought to tell him this, but Joel really had an unparalleled face. It was an old and beautiful thing. For this reason, you couldnât bring yourself to tear your gaze away, maybe to wet your own fingers. Instead, you slipped your hand between your legs, where his hips had come to rest. You worked a slow, light touch against your folds; you were drenched, and it didnât take long for your fingers to be, too. You moved them back to Joelâs cock.
âLike this?â you ventured.
The man answered with a grunt, at first. Then a grin.
âYeah. Yeah,â Joel nodded, quiet but emphatic. Trying not to smile too big as he let your touch take over for his, âJust like that, sweet pea. Get it nice anâ wet for daddy.â
You wanted to whimper at that. Something mustâve flashed in your eyes at the intonation of the last word, and the look mustâve suffused your whole expression, because the next thing you knew, Joel was lowering his body to yours. Petting your hair, letting you rub on his shaft as fast as your soft, lithe hands could manage.
âFeel that, baby? Feel how much daddy missed you?â
You did.
Your brow pinched, and you wanted more of that. More from him: those tender, edifying words of praise being mumbled your way while your touch worked him over. Maybe you couldâve helped it, but then again, in this state, maybe you couldnâtâyou whimpered for him.
Wriggling your hips against the bed to get your warmth pressed flush with his own, and squeezing him tighter:
âIn me, daddy. Please.â
You angled his cock in your trembling grip to plead as much. You knew he liked being the one to push in the first time, so you didnât move too far with that push, but you begged him with your gaze. You felt him tense a bit.
And just when you sensed he might let you have your way, he moved off. Down. Sliding his torso away from your own, to go lower on the bed, and smirking again.
âI think she needs my tongue first, doesnât she?â
You wanted to nod. Instead, you flinched. You crawled away from his hold before it could secure itself firmly on either one of your legs, and you had to snag your bottom lip between your teeth to contain that blossoming need. It almost spilled from your mouth in a moan before Joelâs could reach your lower half. Then you scrambled to sit up
âNo,â you choked out.
This wasnât new. While you shook your head, Joel lifted a brow and stood from the bed. He reached behind him.
The night stand.
You closed your eyes.
âThis isnâtâŠsupposed to be for me.â you sighed.
In a second, Joel was back where he started, and you didnât have to steal a glance through your lids to know what he was holding. Slotting himself gently into place.
âDonât,â he started, sharp, ââsay that. I mean it.â
You knew he meant it, but you also knew better than to accept at face value what he said, moving down on you.
This wasnât part of the deal. Joelâs money was meant to serve his pleasure, not yours. Letting him take you any other way seemed to blur the lines between transaction and affection, and though youâd done this before, it still didnât feel right. You couldnât bear having his focus here.
Evidently, though, he could. Heâd snatched your vibrator from the night table and lowered his torso to your legs, lips twitching the tiniest bit. âOpen up. Let me see her.â
Joel was on his stomach, eyes glowing with intrigue.
âLet me see how much sheâs missed me, baby.â
The grey matter in your brain mightâve trickled through your earsâthe whole thing went to mush at his words. You pushed at his hands, then the top of his head, but clearly, your will was weak. You wanted this. Needed it.
âThatâs a good girl. Let daddy have it,â Joel drawled.
You wanted to cry. Or maybe hide. His index and middle fingers prodded at your folds, pulling them apart, and for a moment, you couldâve sworn youâd stopped breathing. Joel kissed the slope of your mound with a quiet kind of reverence. The salt-and-pepper stubble on his chin brushed your clit, and your back arched reflexively. Then, remembering why youâd come to this arrangement in the first place, you felt a wave of guilt supplant that pleasure.
You clawed at his head and shook your own, weakly.
âNo. W-wanna make you feel good,â you choked out.
Not me.
Not here.
Just let itâ
âFuck,â you keened through your teeth. Joelâs lips made contact with your slick, drooling cunt and, in a second, sucked your nub in between them. He flicked his tongue.
Joel groaned, then pulled away to meet your gaze.
âFeels plenty good fâme,â he assured you in a murmur. Eyes glossy, âSheâs so fuckinâ sweet, honey. So pretty.â
Then, as if to punctuate his point, he slid his tongue down the whole wet mess of your slit, and he moaned. He curled the muscle and invaded your sticky, sensitive, precious warm flesh with vigor and forceâmaybe a little desperationâand you whined at the feeling. Your toes curled tight. It was doubtlessly a sight to see: Joelâs old and weathered head against your young and supple skin, the wiry greys of his chin rubbing your cunt like no manâs his age shouldâve been. He took you gently. Forked his fingers over your folds to hold you open for him and then, over and over and over again, just licking stripes. Squelching noises only seemed to goad him on while he buried his nose and savored your taste without reserve. Your stomach clenched with that pleasure, then swelled.
âThatâs my girlâso good for me,â Joel said, as though reminding you, gently, it was okay to relish the feeling.
Once more, he suckled your clit in his mouth, rubbing the tip of his tongue in a quick back-and-forth motion, and the next sensation hit without a breath of warning.
Your belly twisted again, then flushed with hot pleasure.
âMyâ fuck,â you cried, shuddering with a climax you didnât know was coming. You held his head and whined.
Joelâs tongue didnât stop. Your vision blurred. Whatever reprieve you mightâve hoped to find came in the form of his lips drawing back, momentarily, only to sponge little kisses on your still-pulsing heat. Your body jolted back.
âI câ Iâm done. Iâm done,â you blurted out.
Joel nodded against you. Humming through his kisses:
âI know. Keep going.â
Keep going.
So simple.
Still, you couldnât breathe. Your sight was inundated with stars. You felt Joelâs stubble on your slit again, only this time, the pleasure was tripled. Your legs trembled, and your hands made fists in his hair. Joel kept on kissing.
And kissed again, again, and again, until your fingers in his locks pulled taut to the roots and your hips were bucking up in his face: âToo much, tâoh fuckfuckfuck.â
Then came a buzz. Skirting your legs in a blink, before diving to meet Joelâs mouth on your clit. You shrieked.
âI know, I know,â Joel joined, as though soothing a wound while he maneuvered the vibrator. Lifting his head and then kissing your thigh, âI know. Youâre alright.â
You wanted to sob; you felt ready to burst. You trusted Joelâs judgment but had never been subjected to this sort of pleasure. What if it was more than you could take?
âIâm here.â
Joelâs words were slow to crawl off his tongue, but their intent was clear. You writhed once more, and he was kissing your skin, rubbing your thighs, and taking the toy to your clit with a warm, devoted touch. He wasnât cruel.
He had a glint in his gaze when you met it, like he knew you wouldnât accept this feeling aloneâbut he wanted you to. He wanted the indulgence to be your own and an end in itself. There was care in his touch, tender praise with every caress, and you guessed this was intentional. Joel needed you to know this was more than only his.
You felt more naked than youâd ever been: soaking the sheets with your last release, fresh arousal trickling out, Joelâs spit mixing with your nectar and sweat and pressing you down in the bed. And nudging you, gently.
ââSâokay, baby. Youâre alright. That feels nice, doesnât iââ
âKiss me.â
It came out faster than you could even try and stop it. You werenât sure why you said it. The words were acerbic on your tongueâyou hated ever sounding needyâbut then your mind and your mouth and your worries were all silenced at once when Joel came clambering up for you.
His lips were wet and grinning as he kissed you. He held the vibrator hostage between your legs while his body pressed tight against yours. His movements slowed.
Then, as if heâd crawled in your head and read your mind:
âItâs okay to need me, baby. Itâs okay to want this.â
His hips made that assurance even clearer. Joel reached down and took the vibrator again, increasing the friction between your groin and his while he pressed the buzzing toy to your clit. You whined into his mouth at the feeling.
Your eyes rolled back, and the pleasure soared. This morning, you mightâve bristled at the words heâd just spoken, but here, in this bed, it felt okay. It felt safe.
Joel felt safe, for once, and you werenât sure how to keep that idea from stickingâhow to reconcile the notion of swapping sex for cash with a man for months on end, and then this. Your stomach churned. He held your face and kissed you more, and your clit throbbed and ached. Before you could ponder your thoughts a second longer, a white-hot pleasure washed over, and you came again.
âGood girl,â Joel cooed.
Throbbing even more this time.
âThatâs a sweet girl. Thatâs my baby.â
All but aching with desire. Feeling it double.
âCum for daddy, thatâs it. Keep going.â
Feeling it trickle down your legs.
âSheâs feelinâ real good, huh?â
You could barely breathe.
You whined. Felt something splinter between your thighs and then more of it, more of you and that slick, oozing pleasure and Joelâs groans, overjoyedââMaking a fucking messâa daddy, isnât she? She feel that good?ââand by âthat goodâ you guessed it was more than normal.
This was more warmth than usual. Somewhere in the midst of your own mind-numbing pleasure, youâd let out a spurt, sticky and wet. It now coated the hairs on Joelâs tummy, and while his skin shone, his eyes were brighter. He flitted a look to you, gaze flaring, and slid down. Low.
Back to where he was before. Moving the buzzing pink bullet aside and letting his mouth assume its place.
Of course, you yelped.
âJoel!â
You winced, both from saying his name and feeling so raw. Joel grinned at the sound and suckled your clit.
It was drenched. You and Joel, too, were doused all over and practically gleaming under the rays of late afternoon sun then pouring through the window. For a second, you cast a look outside like you had before, but it was only to brace your body for the bliss at hand. You stared and felt a crude, carnal shockwave seize you head to toe. It traveled fast and made you release, again, or else just continue the same flow as beforeâand this time, into Joelâs waiting mouth. He lapped at you feverishly now.
He squeezed your legs and licked you dry. He worked in merciless circles, like his life might have depended on making you stay at this peak. All the while, you were tearing at his hair. Riding his face as your body fell apart.
That was alright. This pleasure was yours for now, but there was still time yet to make it worth his while, you reasoned in a half-intoxicated state. Your legs vibrated as you started to crawlâlimpâback up in the bed and, numb with elation and a desperate need to please, you stretched your arm toward the night stand. You huffed.
You reached blindly but got it. The box. Weak fingers found the first plastic strip and tore yourself a square. Then, lifting it to Joel, you ignored the last stabs of pleasure between your legs. This was fun, but still his.
âGo on,â you told him, breathless, âFuck me.â
Joel quirked a brow. He took the condom, still panting himself. He brought the latex to his tip out of habit, then:
âYeah? Are you sure?â
âUh-huh.â
Your head was swimming. Somewhere entrenched in the furthest recesses of your brain you could feel it, that dizzying, self-centered pleasure. You pushed it back.
You suffocated it, and you spread your legs wide for him. You let him lay you down and tug the rubber over his cock, then nudge at your hips to situate himself in just the right way. How he liked it. He seemed to be content, and your heart swelled. In this airy, buoyant state, you felt more at ease to speak, sure that heâd understand.
âThis should cover some of it, right?â you panted out.
Joel slowed.
âWhat?â
You sucked your bottom lip between your teeth, eager to keep going. But you steeled yourself, just barely, then.
âSex. Now,â you said, âItâll cover some of my car repairs.â
Instead of nodding like youâd expected, Joel only blinked. Then you opened your mouth to speak again, and his body stopped you cold. He planted a hand beside your head on the pillow and raised his hips; you felt his heat leave with it. You reached for his backside immediately, to try and pull him back into that pre-missionary position heâd held, when Joel brushed you off. His face was hard.
âMoney?â he quipped.
âYeah,â you started, then remembered how you talked outside of the bedroom, when he seemed more serious, âWeâll go again. All week. You can even put it in myââ
Joel balked, like youâd just slapped him across the face.
âNo,â he said, sharp.
âNo,â he repeated, more to himself this second time. Almost as though he couldnât believe what you were suggestingâand making him guilty by association.
Joel clenched your pillow like a vice and shook his head.
âYouâre not getting paid for this,â he finished, and when your gaze penetrated his, confused, he squeezed harder.
âThought you wanted it.â Joel added, almost shamefully.
âI do! I doâŠI justââ you sputtered.
âWhat? Think you need to offer up a week and a half of fucking to make it worth my time? Is that what this is?â
Well, in a way, maybe.
You werenât sure what to say. Former dizzying bliss was dwindling fast, and now you were facing him cold. Sober.
Increasingly irritated, again.
âI just need money, Mr. Millerââ
âItâs Joel, hon,â he bit back, for the fourth time that day. His eyes flared with something more, maybe annoyance, but then he was tempering it just as fast. He ran a hand through his damp grey hair and shook his head, pausing, âItâs Joel. I know you need the money, baby, but itâsââ
âItâs what we agreed,â you protested, âWhat I needââ
âWell itâs not what I want!â Joel barked.
Anger surged again, and this time, evidently, the feeling was harder to keep at bay. He was scarcely able to rein in his features, settling on a grave little scowl instead of a frown, and he sucked in shorter, shallower breaths through his nose. You felt him let your pillow go.
âForget itâthe cash.â Joel grit his teeth even tighter, âForget these payments and the goddamn allowance Iâve had you on. I canât do that anymore. Itâs not right.â
Your heart sank.
You didnât know what to say.
Luckily, Joelâs voice resumed on its own.
âWhatever you want, whatever you need, sweetheartâŠâ
He stopped. Silence followed, then stretched on for one full, terrible minute. In that interim, you could see his chest rise and fall fast. He was trying to slow it down.
âWhatever you need paid off, Iâll do it. Anything. You donât have to touch me again. It was wrong of me to allow that in the first place,â he rejoined, tone cooling.
Sounding guilty, too.
Above you, Joel didnât seem keen on holding your gaze, so he fixed his stare someplace on the headboard instead. Then he moved off your body, slowly.
In spite of the distance he attempted to give, he was still crowding your space. Looming large and bare and weary as youâd ever seen him, knees shuffling back awkwardly through a mass of cotton sheets while his eyes shifted low. Away. The rest of him filled your lungs with a heady cologne scent and your stomach with a thousand tiny bladesâyou were hurt that he wasnât sticking to his end of the bargain. You were mad that he was trying to claim the moral high ground now, after everything youâd done.
Mostly, though, you were just upset that you felt like you were losing someone close. That Joel Miller was more of a confidant, friend, and father figure than your own dad had ever been, and that got all fucked up over money. Your lips pursed, and something stung behind your eyes when you reached for him again. Your throat stung, too.
âThe reason I agreed to do this,â Joel went on, and the ache in your head worsened when he winced from your touch, âwas âcause I didnât want you getting âhelpâ from anyone else. I was selfish. And thatâs not an excuseâŠâ
He started to move off, hand dropping from yours.
ââŠbut itâs the truth. Iâm sorry.â
At length, Joel found your gaze, and the eyes said it all over again: Iâm sorry. You mightâve believed them, too.
But you were you, and you couldnât help but press:
âWhy?â
Your voice was small. Joel was trying to stand from the bed, but you grabbed at his hand again and made him meet your eyes. Confusion was painted across his own.
Kneeling in front of him, curious, you tried to clarify.
âWhyâd it have to be you?â
Judging from Joelâs expression as soon as you did, you got the sense that this question made him feel dumb. He frowned, but he held your stare and answered anyway.
âBecause I wanted you first,â he replied, âBefore all this.â
Your stomach twisted. He did?
You didnât need to ask twice to know what that meant. What heâd said, in words and with a look, was enough. Still, it was always in you to know more, to be sure, so you crept a little closer. You let your hands roam up andâ
âNo,â Joel said, as soon as your fingers reached his side.
Youâd just wanted to feel him, maybe prod him further on what heâd just said through acts that didnât require verbal articulation, but he refused. He backed up in bed.
âThis isnât aboutââ he started, low.
âSex. I know,â you answered for him. Then your touch grazed his thigh, and you were dying to have more. To be told in a way you both knew and understood. To touch, âYou want me to believe you reallyâŠliked me before?â
âMore than you know.â
There was that blunt, open pragmatism in the Joel youâd always known. Perhaps guided by natural inclinations, or else your hand on his leg, drawing higher. Moving closer.
Showing skepticism through your eyes and the hint of a playful, disbelieving smile starting to curl at your lips.
âWhen you met me?â you teased.
Youâd known of Joel for years, and had met him a couple times as a teenager at various firm holiday functions. You probably hadnât exchanged more than ten words altogether before starting law school a few years back.
âHell no,â Joel answered, fast, âWhen you started work.â
His gaze was timid again. It was fixed on his thigh where youâd started to slide your index up the warm, muscled expanse of his skin, and though you could tell he was more than hesitant, you wanted to know. Wanted to feel.
It wasnât so easy convincing a man youâd been working forâand fucking, largely without feelingâto pay bills that you wanted him here and now. But you needed to try.
That maybe, somewhere along the way, youâd come to want him, too. That cash wasnât the only thing at stake.
You crawled between his legs, then straddled his hips.
Your lips smiling still as you did: âHow much?â
Joel blinked back. Dazed.
âWhat do you mââ
âHow much did you like me? When did it start?â
Joel sighed when your heat rubbed his. He tried grabbing ahold of your hips, when you glanced down and saw heâd already discarded the last condom. You couldnât have that if you wanted to continue this talk.
You reached back and grabbed another.
âDarlinâ,â Joel said, strained, âWe shouldnâtâŠâ
âSays who?â
Youâd already worked the rubber halfway down his length when his heavy-lidded gaze locked with yours. You saw lust there, mixed with worry. Curiosity. You kept going.
âSays your dad, if he ever finds out what Iâve done to his little girl,â Joel replied, closing his eyes at the feeling.
You had the latex worked down to the base of him when you smiled. Felt him seize your hips, lids fluttering open to find you in their soft, glossy stare, and you felt better. Like clockwork, you went together and joined, at last. You felt Joel squeeze your backside and groan when you first sank down to take him whole. You shuddered, too.
But you tried to steady your voice as you spoke.
âSemantics, Miller,â you told him, only faltering a little, âThings you are âdoingâ to his little girl. Not just âdone.ââ
There, you had a point. Surely your father would have had some choice words for his business partner and best friend if he knew how far Joelâs cock was currently stuffed inside your tight, wet cunt. It might even piss him off, if he werenât too drunk to receive the news himself.
Joel blinked hard, signaling that he knew this too, and presently watched your body swallow all eight inches at once, after youâd raised yourself up to just the tip and sank back. Your ass fell to his groin with an obscene sort of squelch, and your walls involuntarily clenched. You both let out sounds of pleasure, and held on tighter.
Your hands on his chest for stability, while one of his own held your hip and the other fumbled around for your clit, gliding through the sheen of your arousal on his front. You rocked your hips and felt how much it really wasâhow youâd drenched his whole abdomen with your last release. You smiled at this and stared, pleased with the pretty, sticky display youâd laid bare all over Joelâs belly.
When Joel wasnât watching you ride, he stared there too.
âNot so âlittleâ anymore,â he mused quietly. Then he looked up to find your eyes, seeing them as glazed as his, âAnd I âlikeâ you, hon. Present tense. Not justâŠâliked.ââ
Alright.
âHow much?â
You wanted to say it with some confidence. Nonchalance. Then Joelâs cock nicked a particularly sensitive ridge inside your walls, and that thought was gone as quick as it had come. You gripped the flesh of his upper chest and rolled your hips harder. Let out your breaths in little fractured whimpers while you rode him more. Another sweet feeling twisted low in your gut.
With just a glimpse of that, Joel moved his hand from your heat up past your hips and waist, to squeeze one of your breasts. His fingers were wet. You could feel them, equal parts warmth and wanton yearning as the pads pinched your nipple and gave it a firm tug. He grunted.
Clearly, there was more to it than just the touching and feeling for himâJoelâs eyes drank in the sight of your skin as it glistened with the arousal heâd just smeared. He thumbed at the wet, stiff peak and swallowed. And, just as you were about to adjust the rhythm of your hips bouncing on him, his free hand joined the first and pulled you down. You cried feeling his cock wedge deep; your hands fell to either side of his body when he yanked your face down to his. He fucked up into you from underneath
You squealed, soft, âJoel!â
He kissed your open mouth. Made you lay flat overtop him while he fucked your dripping hole. You whimpered.
âJoelââ Again.
âI like you so much, sweetheart,â he said, in answer to your last question, lips close, âDoes she like me too?â
As if to save him the trouble of a swift reply in words, your body told him instead. You squeezed around his cock, and with another desperate cry, bit his shoulder. He hammered your poor, aching pussy with a groan of his own, and he held your body down to his. Grinning.
Kissing the side of your head while he pounded away. Stroking your hair, âIs that a âyesâ? She like her daddy?â
Drool was bound to slip out of your mouth any second. Your lips were locked in a permanent âoâ while he drilled from under you on the bed. Still, you managed to nod.
âUh-huhâoh, fuck, fuck, da-ddy. Yes, daddy.â
You squeezed your eyes shut as another blistering wave seared your insides. Joel was relentless with his thrusts now, driving himself in and out without stopping or slowing. He mustâve known you were close. He was too, judging by the sounds of his grunts and hushed tone.
âLet daddy take care of her then, baby. All of her. OK?â
His words trickled through your ear as sweet as honey. His cock was less kind, but that was okayâyou liked it.
You loved him here. Taking care of you. Her. Everything.
And, in this half-coherent state of fuckdrunk pleasure, you were tempted to give in to whatever he begged.
It would be so easy. Joel cradled your face in his hand, practically beaming with pride while he fucked you over and over, and your legs were spread, walls were stretched, eyes practically rolling back, and you felt more secure than youâd been in ages. Joel could care for you.
He rubbed his thumb over your cheek and hummed.
âDaddyâs got you,â he said, voice all warm assurance.
Nudging you closer and closer to your peakâand perhaps some other form of surrender. Release.
Submission?
Joel wouldnât be so bad for that.
He could fuck you well and leave you content. Make you forget what it meant to be strapped for cash and saddled with guilt and worry over bills every month. Joel could provide, for now. His eyes said as much; his fingers threaded through your hair and rubbed your scalp. He cupped your face, all fifty-six years in his own looking as handsome as theyâd ever been. He felt good. He felt safe.
You were hot. Your legs trembled and ached.
âIs that something youâd want?â he pressed.
And, still holding Joelâs gaze with a heavy-lidded, fucked out look of your own, you surprised yourself by nodding, slowly. Your body was spent, but the curve on your lips, then his, was sincere; Joel nodded back as he grinned.
âYeah? You mean it, sweetheart?â
He flipped you both over and got on top, never breaking apart. You wound your legs around his back and let him cup your cheeks again, and from this angle, you felt it. You wouldnât try and fight it now; you just kissed him.
Then you came for a third time, walls clenching and squeezing and gushing again, smearing Joelâs front as he fucked you right through it. His groans were a little more subdued than yours, but in their timbre, you could hear his desperation. He emptied himself inside you, in the condom, and kept holding your face all the while.
You felt a low pulse between your legs. Then another. And another. And another. Joelâs hips began to still, his hefty greying belly bumping lightly against your skin while he drained what was left in his balls, and you swore that his bones mightâve creaked from the sheer force of those final thrusts. He seemed exhausted. Somehow, though, the man looked even better in this stateâhaggard and worn as he was, the face above your own was soft. Smiling, faintly, and kissing you constantly.
You couldnât pretend you didnât enjoy it; you were far too tired and fucked out of your mind to protest right now.
Joel trailed a path with his lips from your chin to your ear. He kissed the hinge of your jaw and sank himself deeper.
âMr.ââ But you caught yourself, shortly, ââŠJoel.â
He lifted his head, not apologetic in the least.
âMaybe just one moreââ he started.
âNo,â you finished for him, sharp.
Still smiling, but with your eyes on him in a thinly veiled threat. Joel accepted that and kept his dick where it was.
What followed was gradual but natural enough. A little awkward as you broached that uncharted territory of remaining in the otherâs presence after the deed was done, but Joel didnât seem like he wanted to leave the bed, and you had nowhere else to go until dinner with your dad at eight. There was a moment you wanted to separate your body from Joelâs, if only to slip off to the bathroom by yourself, but the man just held you closer.
âYou think your old man will mind if I joined tonight?â
Here the fuck we go.
âHeâll kill you.â
You pushed hard against his hold without getting so much as an inch of give. Joel had to fight back a chuckle.
âOh, yeah? Why?â
âBecause,â you began in a huff. Wriggling with very little success in his arms, while you were pinned in missionary, âI smell like you. You smell like me. My dadâs a drunk, but he can sniff stuff like that out in a heartbeat. Too risky.â
You punctuated those words with a still more serious look, but before you could nudge at his chest again or say something more, you were forced to swallow a scream. Joelâs grip tightened even more, and he moved to stand up from the bedâwith you still in his arms and impaled on his cock. He started to walk to the bathroom.
âGreat. Showerâs got plenty of room for the two of us.â
âJoel!â
âGlad I donât have to keep reminding you of my name.â
His voice was smug. Your gaze was hard. Joel was still hard himself, amazingly, and you almost groaned when you felt the head of his cock bump somewhere soft and sensitive inside. He toted you into the big, bright room.
âIf not tonight, how âbout tomorrow? Just you and me.â
He would never stop this shit. He reached for the faucet.
âStill too dangerous. You know that,â you chided. Your resolve only wavered a little when you felt the hot water start to pelt at your back. Joel closed the glass door, âBesidesâŠI need to focus on figuring my shit out right now. Work and bills and getting myself a rental car soon.â
Joel paused. He turned, still holding you.
Then, just as swiftly as heâd stepped inside, he carried you right back out of the shower. You whined in protest.
He took you over to the bed and set you down. He left to find his wallet and keys. You mightâve been tempted to voice your displeasure in some other wayânamely, by marching back to the bathroom, locking the door, and bathing aloneâbut before you could speak a word, Joel was back. He looked down at you and held out his fist.
âWhatâsââ
âYour dad and meâll be up to our eyeballs in bullshit working the Garcia audit tomorrowâand I know you donât want him seeing us leave together anywhereâso we can meet at Bohananâs at six. How does that sound?â
You blinked.
âI donâtâŠhave a car.â
Joel opened his hand. Keys dropped out.
In a single glance, you could see they werenât his.
Joel drove a garish Super Duty F-450, not an Audi. The cogs were quick to turn in your head, but clearly not fast enough, because Joel was closing your fingers over the keys before you could breathe so much as a syllable to him. When you did, it came out more like a stutter. Palpably mad but far too rattled to get much out:
âJoel, I-I canâtââ
âIâve been meaning to buy one anywââ
âYouâre insane,â you started to push the keys back, and for some reason, your heart was thudding extra hard as you did. You went on, unblinking, âYou donâtâŠneed to.â
âI want to.â
Joelâs hands were warm when he pressed both of his palms to secure yours between them. He could probably feel the way it shook a little, but he didnât seem to care. His gaze was too busy trying to find, and hold, your own while you swallowed and stared and racked your numb brain for any words of defiance. At length, nothing came.
All you could do was meet that look. In the soft brown irises above, you could see it allâthe need to comfort, and care, and provide where he could, offer better than the hand youâd been dealt and maybe, interspersed with those feelings somewhere, a simpler need in him to give.
For once, you wanted to believe it.

Part two
.ă»ă.ă»ăâă».ă»â«ă»ăă»ă..ă»ă.ă»ăâă».ă»â«ă»
Ex-husband Simon who: Always does the month's grocery shopping with you, always coming up with lame excuses to spend more time with you. Always encourages your children to eat a lot, sometimes even more than they should, just to make sure the food runs out quickly and that you call him to help with the groceries.
Ex-husband Simon who: Never stopped wearing his wedding ring, even though you no longer wore yours. For him, you would always be his wife, no matter what, even if you refused to wear your wedding ring again.
Ex-husband Simon who: Is very attentive to the children, always picks them up from school when you can't, who takes them out every weekend, and on vacation, takes them on trips. And of course, always thinking about spending more time with you.
Ex-husband Simon who: Knows that divorce means divorce, but can't stop giving you Valentine's Day presents every year, even if you reject being his Valentine once again.
Ex-husband Simon who: Is always available when you need him, if something has broken in the house? Don't hesitate to call him. Need to buy something? Ask him and he'll sort it out. Want a shoulder to cry on? He'll be there for you.
Ex-husband Simon who: Always pays for things for you, especially when you go out with the children. He refuses to let you pay a single penny when he's around, even though he knows you have enough money to pay for whatever you want. Just as he won't stop sending you money, even if you work.
Ex-husband Simon who: Even though you live in separate houses, he always goes to the house where you and the children are living, the usual excuse being that he was passing by, so he decided to go and see the children. And you, too.
Ex-husband Simon who: Knows it's wrong to manipulate children like this, but he induces the little ones to dislike any other man you introduce to them. No matter how good your new romantic interest is, Simon can't stand the idea of you having someone else by your side. And the children think so too.
Ex-husband Simon who: Is happy when he hears that you haven't met anyone since you split up, that no other man had caught your eye. And he could only feel the relief and hope that this brought him.
Ex-husband Simon who: Tries to win you over again, always giving you presents, calling you to dinner, being the exemplary husband you needed. All the effort that was thrown away every time you denied him, he left with a heavy heart, but destined to try as many times as necessary. There was no other person who was like you, you were the only one for him.
Ex-husband Simon who: Almost felt his heart drop out of his mouth when he saw you all dressed up for your son's second birthday, you'd only prepared a small party, no big deal. But the sight of you was still breathtaking, even more so when you smiled so sweetly. He didn't take his eyes off you once that evening.
Ex-husband Simon who: Didn't hesitate to accept when you asked to spend the night with him, after the children were asleep. And you would have time alone after a long time apart.
Ex-husband Simon who: Made love to you as if it were the last time. He caressed every part of your body, made you feel butterflies in your stomach with every kiss he gave you. He pounded into you like a maniac, as if it were his last day on earth, telling you he loved you, calling you the nicknames he knew would make you weak in the knees. He made you see stars that night.
Ex-husband Simon who: Felt heartbroken when you said that everything that had happened was a mistake, and that it was a moment of weakness. It shouldn't have happened, that's what you said, but it all seemed so right to him.
Ex-husband Simon who: Didn't understand why you were distancing yourself from him after the night you shared together, that he felt he had done something wrong to you. Who didn't understand your nervousness, the way you stuttered and fidgeted next to him, he just thought he'd done something wrong and you were angry.
Ex-husband Simon who: Had no idea that you were actually nervous not because of some action of his, but because you didn't know how to break the news to him that you were pregnant, that your evening had resulted in an unplanned pregnancy. You were carrying twins.
Ex-husband Simon who: Almost fainted when you broke the news to him, he didn't know whether to cry with relief or joy. But in any case, he was sure that he would go through hell to get you back, he was going to do everything possible and impossible to make his family what it was before.

Okay but I just? Made myself snort?
Imagine~â Grandma Fenton. Young, hot, built like a tank.
She meets a SUAVE and well muscled man of mystery. With a CAPE! Fabulous facial hair. There are ninjas. She was hunting the Supernatural. Very, very badly.
But still! That Fenton STRENGTH. That smile! That "just back handed an assassin through a wall"! Mystery man is... intrigued âą.
They do unspeakable things to each other hot young nuible bodies against every surface they can find. There are explosions and sword fights. She has a BLAST! It was a great trip.
Prooooobably should have gotten more then his name though!
Maybe used protection!
WHOOPS âą!
Ah well, she always DID want kids! A jack is a wonderful kiddo! Strong as an ox! Bit obsessive, but what Fenton ISNT?
She goes about her merry way. Things to do! Monsters to HUNT! Crocodiles to WRESTLE! Feeling like... she's... forgetting? Something? But what could it BE?
It's only after YEARS, as she's retired, down a leg (damn Sasquatch) and two fingers, that she squints at some hoity toity shin-dig on the TV... and... huh.....
You know? That lil Wayne kid reminds her of someone. It's... it's on the tip of her to- OH FUCK! *slams down the morning paper* she forgot to tell her sprogs DAD!
Shit! He didn't know he got her preggers!!!
Which? Is how Ra's AL Ghul? Get a VERY sheepish call from that lion of a woman he had... relations *unholy smirk that makes SO MANY people around him uncomfortable* with, informing him? He not ONLY has a son.
But a grandson and granddaughter.
Neither fit to inherent, obviously. But his blood has run true. His son married the most powerful woman he could locate. Because studying the borders between life and death. And can snap lesser men in half like a twig. Grandchildren? Much of the same.
So obviously, he shall become... Supportive. A loving grandfather.
Why? Because he has no standards for them! They are but a pleasant suprise. The bloodline MIGHT be useful. Eventually. But for now? Charm champaign.
EVERYBODY loves Grandpapa Ra's, after all. :)
