Introduction
Blood magic involves the ritualistic use of blood as a potent symbol and conduit for connection. Central to blood magic is the belief that blood, as the essence of life and vitality, carries inherent energies that can be harnessed and directed. This doesn’t necessarily require blood to be removed from the body. In a few cultures, such as Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurvedic Medicine, and some indigenous practices blood is utilized from within the body as a means for healing, directing energy from the subtle body, and developing a more thorough mind-body connection.
The applications of blood magic span a spectrum of purposes, each rooted in the practitioner's intentions and the energetic resonance of blood itself. While practices vary widely across cultures and individual traditions, common themes emerge regarding the uses of blood magic. Applications such as warding, binding, divination, and energetic balancing.
Please be sure to engage in this entire article if you are able, and do so in good faith. Blood magic, as a legitimate magical practice, has been influenced and poorly reflected by media which has resulted in a portent of misinformation and misunderstandings. The aim of this article is to eliminate misunderstandings and promote safe and ethical practices.
Uses
Blood magic is employed for several purposes, each rooted in the idea that blood is a conduit of life force and energy. Primarily, blood magic is utilized in rituals aimed at strengthening bonds. It is believed that by incorporating blood into rituals, one can forge stronger connections with ancestors, deities, or the natural world. This practice is seen in various indigenous traditions where blood offerings are made to honor and appease spirits or gods.
Moreover, blood magic is often used in rites of passage. These ceremonies, marking significant transitions in an individual's life, such as birth, maturity, marriage, and death, incorporate blood to symbolize the transformation and the continuity of life. The act of shedding blood during these rituals is seen as a potent gesture, signifying the shedding of the old self and the emergence of a new, empowered identity.
In healing practices, blood magic is employed as a method of channeling energy to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Traditional healers may use blood as a medium to draw out negative influences or to invigorate the body’s natural healing processes. This practice is not about the physical use of blood per se but rather the symbolic gesture, wherein the essence of life is called upon to restore balance and harmony.
The portrayal of blood magic in popular media has often led to widespread misconceptions and fear. Frequently depicted as sinister and malevolent, blood magic is associated with dark rituals, malevolent sorcery, and nefarious intentions. Such representations overlook the cultural and spiritual significance embedded in these practices, reducing them to mere sensationalist tropes.
A prevalent misunderstanding is the belief that blood magic is inherently evil or dangerous. This notion is fueled by horror movies, novels, and sensationalist media, which often portray blood magic as the domain of malevolent witches or nefarious cults. In reality, blood magic, like many other forms of spiritual practice, is neutral in nature. Its moral alignment is determined by the intent and ethics of the practitioner. For many cultures, blood magic is a sacred practice meant to honor life, foster healing, and maintain harmony with the natural and spiritual worlds.
Another common misconception is that blood magic involves human sacrifice or self-harm. While historical accounts do exist of bloodletting practices, particularly in ancient civilizations, modern practitioners of blood magic typically engage in symbolic acts rather than literal bloodshed. These acts can include pricking a finger or using animal blood obtained from ethical sources, rather than causing significant harm.
Furthermore, the false association of blood with the empowerment of spells is a particularly egregious misrepresentation. Blood is often depicted as a supernatural catalyst that amplifies magical abilities, granting practitioners extraordinary power. This portrayal is not only inaccurate but also undermines the cultural and spiritual significance of blood magic. The following is a list of media that inaccurately portrays blood magic or has been poorly represented in subsequent media.
"The Book of Sacred Magic of Abramelin the Mage" (15th century)
"The Lesser Key of Solomon" (17th century)
"The Greater Key of Solomon" (17th century)
"The Key of Solomon" (14th or 15th century)
"The Grimoire of Armadel" (17th century)
"Rosemary's Baby" (1968)
"The Craft" (1996)
"Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" (2001)
"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" (2009)
"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (1997-2003)
"True Blood" (2008-2014)
"American Horror Story: Coven" (2013)
"The Magicians" (2015-2020)
“Supernatural” (2005-2020)
"Dracula" by Bram Stoker (1897)
"The Vampire Chronicles" by Anne Rice (1976 onwards)
"Harry Potter" series by J.K. Rowling (1997-2007)
"Twilight" series by Stephenie Meyer (2005-2008)
While some of these pieces of media do not directly promote the idea of literal bloodletting or the direct concept of magical strengthening through blood, their depiction and influence in later media does.

Process
The amount of blood required in blood magic rituals varies significantly depending on the specific tradition and the purpose of the ritual. Generally, only a minimal amount is used, symbolizing the essence of life rather than its physical manifestation. This minimalism underscores the principle that the power of blood magic lies not in the quantity of blood, but in the act of offering and the symbolic gesture it represents.
In most practices, a few drops of blood are deemed sufficient. This small quantity is often enough to establish the connection or achieve the desired outcome without causing harm to the practitioner. Overuse of blood is generally avoided, as it is not the volume but the act of offering that holds significance. This approach reflects a deep respect for the body and its life-giving essence, ensuring that the practice remains sustainable and safe.
Obtaining blood for these rituals must be approached with care and reverence. The method of extraction should prioritize the well-being of the practitioner or the source, emphasizing minimal harm and ethical considerations.
Self-pricking with a sterilized needle or lancet is a common method. This technique ensures that only a small amount of blood is drawn, usually from the fingertip. The use of sterilized instruments is crucial to prevent infection and maintain hygiene. The act of self-pricking is often performed as part of a ritualistic process, with practitioners mentally preparing themselves and ensuring a clean environment.
In rare instances, some practitioners may opt for menstrual blood, which is seen as a natural and potent symbol of life and fertility. The use of menstrual blood is often considered deeply personal and is typically reserved for specific rituals related to fertility, protection, or transformation.
In some traditions no bloodletting is required. Some of the most prominent traditions that use internal blood magic are Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurvedic Medicine. These traditions employ methods that emphasize the internal circulation and quality of blood as integral to health, vitality, and spiritual balance.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)*:
Within Traditional Chinese Medicine, blood holds a vital role alongside Qi (life energy) as one of the body's fundamental substances. Blood, known as "Xue," is considered essential for nourishing the organs and tissues, promoting growth, and maintaining overall vitality. Unlike external applications or rituals involving blood, TCM focuses on cultivating and balancing the body's internal blood through herbal medicine, acupuncture, and dietary therapy. Practitioners diagnose imbalances in blood quality and circulation based on symptoms such as pale complexion, menstrual irregularities, or insomnia, and tailor treatments to restore harmony within the body's systems.
Ayurvedic Medicine*:
In Ayurveda, the traditional medicine system of India, blood (Rakta) is regarded as crucial for maintaining overall health and vitality. Ayurvedic texts emphasize the importance of balanced blood circulation and purity to prevent disease and promote longevity. Practices such as Panchakarma treatments aim to cleanse and rejuvenate the blood through herbal therapies, dietary adjustments, and lifestyle modifications. Unlike external applications or ritualistic uses, Ayurvedic medicine focuses on enhancing the body's internal mechanisms to optimize blood quality and circulation. By restoring balance to the doshas (body types), Ayurvedic practitioners aim to harmonize physical health, mental clarity, and spiritual well-being.
Across these traditions, the approach to blood magic diverges from external ritualistic practices commonly associated with Western occultism. Instead, they emphasize internal cultivation, balance, and harmony within the body's natural processes. By focusing on enhancing the quality and circulation of blood through holistic methods, practitioners seek to promote holistic health, longevity, and spiritual well-being without the need for external bloodletting or ritualistic practices seen in other magical traditions.
Physical Applications of Blood in Use of Magic
The physical applications of blood in these practices are varied, each carrying distinct symbolic meanings and ritualistic purposes. Blood is often used to anoint objects, spaces, or individuals, thereby consecrating and imbuing them with specific properties. So long as blood is applied to archival materials and kept in a cool, dry, sterile, and dark place with little to no air circulation the DNA which makes up the taglock can remain intact for up to 500 years. However, luminal, microbial, fungal, and or chemical interactions may cause DNA to degrade in as little as a few days.
Anointing Objects: Blood is frequently applied to ritual tools, such as athames, wands, or talismans, to consecrate them and enhance their efficacy. This act is believed to imbue the object with the life force of the practitioner, creating a powerful link between the tool and the user. The anointing process is typically done with great care, often accompanied by sigils, chants, or prayers to invoke the desired energies. Anointing is most potent when used on absorbent materials such as cloth or paper. This is due to the blood, which acts as a dynamic taglock, becoming trapped within fibers.
Marking Spaces: Blood can be used to mark ritual spaces or boundaries, creating a sacred and protected area for the practitioner to work within. This marking might involve drawing symbols or lines with the blood, establishing a physical and energetic barrier against negative influences. The creation of these sacred spaces is an integral part of many blood magic rituals, providing a contained environment for the practitioner's work.
Healing Rituals: In healing practices, blood may be applied to the body to promote recovery and balance. This application is usually symbolic, representing the infusion of life force into the afflicted area (So long as it is not an open wound). The blood is often applied with the fingertips, accompanied by specific incantations or prayers to enhance the healing process. The focus is on the symbolic gesture rather than the physical quantity of blood used.
Offerings to Deities or Spirits: Blood can also be offered to deities or spirits as a form of devotion and reverence. This offering is typically done by placing a few drops of blood on an altar or in a sacred space designated for the deity or spirit. The act of offering blood is seen as a profound gesture, symbolizing the practitioner's dedication and connection to the divine or spiritual forces.

Safety
The practice of blood magic, while rooted in tradition and symbolism, requires a conscientious approach to safety, even within very simple workings. Ensuring safe practices is paramount, as the involvement of blood inherently carries risks, particularly concerning hygiene and infection. This section provides a comprehensive guide to maintaining safety, highlighting practices to avoid, methods for preventing infections, and essential steps for cleanup and disposal. The risk of spreading disease through blood biological waste is a significant concern due to the potential presence of bloodborne pathogens. These pathogens, which include viruses such as HIV, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C, can survive in blood and other bodily fluids, posing a health risk to sanitation workers. When blood or biological waste is improperly handled or disposed of, these pathogens can be transmitted through direct contact with contaminated materials. This transmission can occur through needlesticks, cuts, or mucous membrane exposure, leading to serious infections. Additionally, pathogens can be aerosolized during certain procedures, increasing the risk of inhalation. Therefore, stringent protocols for handling, sterilizing, and disposing of blood and biological waste are essential. The use of puncture-proof and leak-proof sharps containers for needles and other sharp objects is crucial to prevent accidental injuries and subsequent infections. Furthermore, all contaminated materials should be disposed of in designated biohazard containers, which are then collected and treated by specialized waste management services to neutralize any pathogens. Adherence to these practices not only protects workers and practitioners alike but also prevents the potential spread of infectious diseases to the wider community.
Practices to Avoid
Certain practices in blood magic should be strictly avoided to mitigate risks and uphold ethical standards. Understanding these practices is crucial for any practitioner who wishes to engage in blood magic responsibly.
Excessive Bloodletting: One of the most critical practices to avoid is excessive bloodletting. The use of large quantities of blood is not only unnecessary but also dangerous. Blood magic typically requires only a minimal amount of blood—often just a single small drop. Overextending oneself by drawing significant amounts can lead to serious health complications, including anemia, dizziness, and, in severe cases, shock or death.
Using Unsterilized Instruments: Another hazardous practice is the use of unsterilized instruments to extract blood. Employing non-sterile needles, lancets, or other sharp objects increases the risk of infections and diseases. Practitioners must ensure that all tools used in blood extraction are properly sterilized and handled with care.
Self-Harm and Harm to Others: Blood magic should never involve self-harm or harm to others. The practice must be conducted in a manner that respects the well-being and dignity of all involved. Self-inflicted wounds or drawing blood from others without their consent and comfort are unethical and dangerous practices that must be avoided.
Sharing Blood: Sharing blood between individuals is a practice that carries significant health risks. Bloodborne pathogens can be transmitted through shared blood, leading to serious infections and diseases such as HIV, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C. Practitioners should never share blood or engage in rituals that involve the mingling of blood from multiple individuals.
Preventing Infections
Preventing infections is a primary concern when working with blood. Proper hygiene and careful handling of blood and instruments are essential to minimize the risk of infection.
Sterilization of Tools: All tools used for blood extraction, such as needles or lancets, must be sterilized before use. This can be achieved using medical-grade sterilization techniques, such as autoclaving or using single-use, pre-sterilized instruments. If reusable instruments are employed, they should be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected after each use.
Hand Hygiene: Practitioners should practice meticulous hand hygiene before and after handling blood. Washing hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds is essential. If soap and water are not available, an alcohol-based hand sanitizer can be used as an alternative.
Use of Gloves: Wearing disposable gloves during the extraction and handling of blood can provide an additional layer of protection. Gloves should be disposed of immediately after use, and hands should be washed again to ensure complete hygiene.
Disinfecting the Extraction Site: The area of the body from which blood will be drawn should be disinfected with an antiseptic solution, such as alcohol or iodine, before extraction. This reduces the risk of introducing pathogens into the body through the puncture site.
Proper Wound Care: After the blood has been drawn, the puncture site should be properly cared for to prevent infection. This involves applying an antiseptic and covering the wound with a sterile bandage. The area should be monitored for signs of infection, such as redness, swelling, or discharge.
Cleanup & First Aid
Thorough cleanup and first aid procedures are essential components of safe blood magic practices. Proper cleanup ensures that the ritual space remains hygienic and free from contamination, while first aid addresses any injuries that may occur.
The use of a sharps container is critical for safely disposing of items that can puncture the skin and are contaminated with unsterilized biological materials. These containers are biohazard-marked, solid-walled, puncture-proof, and leak-proof on the sides and bottom.
Sharps Disposal:
Examples of Sharps: Needles, lancets, scalpels, knives, razor blades, glass slides, glass Pasteur pipettes, biologically-contaminated broken glass, and all sharps-associated medical devices such as syringes
Collection and Storage:
Immediately place all sharps into a designated sharps container after use. Use containers specifically designed for sharps disposal; avoid cardboard or repurposed containers. Ensure the sharps container lid has a restricted access opening and is fully closed when not in use. Store the container upright to prevent spills or contamination. You can obtain a sharps container from most pharmacies for free or for a low cost.
Treatment and Disposal:
Close the sharps container permanently when it is three-quarters full or when objects no longer fall freely into it. Do not force items into the container or shake it to make more space. Place full containers in designated biohazards waste pickup areas. Many pharmacies accept biological and sharps waste for disposal.
Liquid Biohazardous Waste:
Description and Examples: Includes bulk biological liquids like culture media and pooled clinical specimen liquids.
Collection and Storage:
Label collection vessels with biohazard symbols and the disinfectant used. Use non-breakable containers whenever possible. Store vacuum flasks in leak-proof secondary containers when not in biosafety cabinets (BSC).
First Aid Procedures
Treating Minor Wounds: If a minor wound occurs during the ritual, clean it immediately with soap and water. Apply an antiseptic and cover the wound with a sterile bandage. Keep the wound clean and dry, changing the bandage daily or if it becomes wet or dirty.
Addressing Severe Injuries: For severe injuries, such as deep cuts or heavy bleeding, seek immediate medical attention. Apply pressure to the wound to control bleeding while waiting for medical assistance. Remain calm and act swiftly to ensure proper care.
Monitoring for Signs of Infection: After any blood extraction or injury, monitor the wound for signs of infection, including increased redness, swelling, warmth, pain, or discharge. Seek medical advice promptly if any of these symptoms occur.
By adhering to these safety practices, practitioners of blood magic can mitigate risks and ensure that their rituals are conducted in a responsible and respectful manner. Emphasizing the importance of hygiene, proper tool use, and ethical considerations not only preserves the integrity of the practice but also safeguards the health and well-being of all involved.
Blood magic, with its deep-seated symbolism and intricate rituals, can sometimes require the practitioner to reverse or nullify the effects of a previously cast spell. Unbinding, or the process of undoing blood magic, is a crucial skill that ensures the practitioner retains control over their craft and can correct or withdraw magical influences when necessary. This section delves into scenarios where unbinding is beneficial and outlines the methodologies to effectively achieve it.

Counteracting, Unbinding, and Undoing Blood Magic
Blood magic can sometimes require the practitioner to reverse or nullify the effects of a previously cast spell. The process of undoing blood magic is a crucial skill that ensures the practitioner retains control over their craft and can correct or withdraw magical influences when necessary. When might undoing blood magic be a good idea?
Unintended Consequences: Despite meticulous planning, blood magic can sometimes yield unforeseen results. These unintended outcomes might stem from miscalculation, misinterpretation of the ritual's requirements, or external influences altering the spell's impact. In such instances, unbinding becomes necessary to mitigate any negative repercussions.
Changing Circumstances: Life is inherently dynamic, and circumstances that once justified a blood magic ritual may evolve, rendering the spell obsolete or even counterproductive. For example, a spell cast to protect a relationship may need to be undone if the relationship ends or transforms, ensuring that the energies involved do not cause harm or unnecessary entanglement.
Ethical Considerations: The ethical landscape of magic is complex, and practitioners may find themselves needing to unbind spells that no longer align with their moral compass. If a spell was cast under conditions or motivations that are later regretted, unbinding serves as a means of rectifying past actions.
Interference with Other Work: Multiple magical workings can sometimes interfere with one another, particularly if their purposes are not harmonious. In such cases, unbinding one or more spells can clarify the practitioner's magical landscape, allowing for more effective and focused rituals.
Psychological Relief: The psychological burden of knowing a blood magic spell is active can be significant. If a practitioner feels uneasy or haunted by a ritual, unbinding the spell can provide peace of mind, alleviating stress and restoring a sense of control.
How to Unbind
Unbinding a blood magic spell is a deliberate and structured process, requiring precision and respect for the energies involved. The following steps outline a general methodology for unbinding:
Reflection and Assessment: Before initiating the unbinding process, the practitioner must engage in thorough reflection and assessment of the original spell. This involves understanding the components, energies, and symbols used, as well as the specific outcomes achieved. Such introspection helps in crafting an effective unbinding strategy. Keeping a spell log will be invaluable for this purpose.
Cleansing the Space: Preparing the physical and ambient energetic space is crucial. This typically involves cleansing the area with purifying agents such as salt, sage, or other herbs known for their purifying properties, and energy work. The goal is to create a neutral and protected environment for the unbinding ritual.
Gathering Materials: An unbinding ritual may benefit from specific materials, which may include items used in the original spell (if available), purification substances, and tools for ritual work such as candles, incense, and a ceremonial knife. The precise materials will depend on the nature of the original spell and the practitioner's tradition. One component that will be absolutely necessary is the spell’s anchor.
Symbolic Acts of Neutralization: Symbolic acts can play a significant role in unbinding. This could involve burying, burning, or immersing objects used in the original spell in running water, symbolically returning the energies to the earth or cleansing them entirely. The act chosen should align with the practitioner's symbolic framework and the nature of the spell being undone.
Offering and Atonement: To maintain balance and respect for the forces involved, the practitioner may include an offering or act of atonement as part of the unbinding ritual. This could be a simple act of gratitude, a small gift to the natural world, or a gesture of goodwill that seeks to harmonize any disrupted energies.
Cleansing or Destroying the Spell Anchor: The original spell anchor, or object(s) that houses the spell must be cleansed energetically, or be entirely destroyed. Energetically cleansing the anchor means to isolate and unravel the energetic construct of the spell which is bound to the anchor. To destroy the anchor means to smash, burn, cut up, or dissolve the object until it is no longer identifiable. If the object is made of metal then it will require energetic dismantling, as not even melting the metal down will break down the spell unless it is diluted in other minerals or metals to a point where it is no longer chemically similar.
Sealing the Unbinding: Once the reversal actions are completed, sealing the unbinding can be used to ensure the spell's effects do not linger. This might involve the creation of a talisman, seal, or sigil which is then applied to the outside of the container holding the remnants of the original anchor.
Post-Ritual Reflection: After the unbinding ritual, the practitioner should take time for reflection and grounding. This allows for the assimilation of any residual internal energies and provides an opportunity to assess the effectiveness of the unbinding. Meditation, divination, journaling, or simply spending time in nature can help in this process.
Monitoring Outcomes: The practitioner should monitor the outcomes of the unbinding over the following days and weeks. Observing any changes or shifts in circumstances can provide valuable feedback on the success of the unbinding and inform future practices.
Unbinding, like all aspects of blood magic, demands respect, mindfulness, and a deep understanding of the forces at play. By adhering to these structured steps, practitioners can responsibly undo the effects of their spells, ensuring harmony and balance within their magical practice and broader life context.

Alternatives to Blood Magic
For those who skipped the article, here is a diluted TL;DR list of the most important information from it with all potential triggers removed:
BM is binding magic and does not empower or boost a working
A single small pinprick is all that's needed, more than that approaches SH
There exist BM practices that do not require the removal of fluids from the body.
BM, for the most part, is just using a dynamic Taglock.
Safety is paramount
BM can be undone just like any other type of spell
Since BM does not in any way strengthen or empower spell work outside of self-binding, there are many alternatives. Blood within magic acts primarily as a taglock. It is for this reason that it can be replaced by any other taglock in spellcrafting.
Taglocks that can easily replace blood:
Signature: A personal signature is a direct representation of an individual, carrying the unique energy and identity of the person.
Photograph: A photograph captures the essence and image of an individual, making it an effective taglock for personal spells.
Hair: Hair contains DNA and is a physical part of the person, making it a powerful substitute.
Nail clippings: Like hair, nail clippings are part of the individual’s body and contain their DNA, serving as a strong link for spell work.
For BM that used blood as a conduit:
Blood is sometimes believed to act as a conduit in magic due to its life essence and connectivity. This role can be substituted by other substances capable of facilitating energetic transfer.
Light acids such as vinegar: Vinegar is a readily available and safe substitute. Acids can transfer electrons, which can be symbolically or practically useful in spells that require a medium to facilitate a reaction or transformation. Vinegar’s cleansing properties also add a purifying element to spellwork.
For BM for holding space:
When blood is used to hold space or create a sacred boundary, alternative materials can effectively perform this function.
Salt water: Salt water has long been used for purification and protection. Salt's crystalline structure and water's fluid nature make this combination a potent tool for creating sacred space.
Quartz (piezoelectric): Quartz crystals, due to their piezoelectric properties, can generate electrical charges and are excellent for maintaining energetic fields and enhancing spells.
Copper: Copper is a highly conductive metal that can enhance the flow of energy in spellwork. Its properties make it a useful substitute for blood in rituals requiring energy movement or containment.
Talismans/Sigils: These objects or symbols are charged with specific intentions and can effectively hold space or direct energy in spellwork. They can be custom-made to align with the desired outcome of the ritual.
For BM used for offerings to spirits or deities:
Offerings are an integral part of many spiritual practices, intended to honor and appease spirits or deities. Blood, being a potent life force, can be replaced by various other meaningful offerings.
Food and drink: Traditional offerings such as bread, fruit, wine, or other beverages are widely accepted in many spiritual traditions. They symbolize sustenance and respect.
Incense and herbs: Burning incense or herbs can serve as a fragrant offering, with the smoke carrying prayers and intentions to the spiritual realm. Specific herbs can be chosen based on their symbolic meanings and properties.
Flowers: Fresh flowers are often used as offerings due to their beauty, fragrance, and life energy. They can represent growth, renewal, and respect.
Candles: Lighting candles in specific colors can symbolize different aspects of the offering, such as white for purity or red for strength and passion. The flame acts as a beacon or signal to the spiritual entities being honored.
Coins or precious metals: Offering coins or small pieces of precious metals can symbolize wealth and prosperity, showing reverence and gratitude to the spirits or deities.
Personal creations: Handmade items, such as crafted objects, poems, or artworks, can be deeply personal offerings that convey sincerity and dedication. These can be tailored to the preferences and attributes of the deity or spirit being honored. This is the best alternative for BM in this regard.

Franklin D. Roosevelt was warned.
On December 7, 1941, the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour became one of the most infamous events in American history, leading the United States into World War II. However, a lesser-known aspect of this tragic day is the series of warnings that were issued to American military installations in the days leading up to the attack. Ten days before the Japanese planes descended upon Pearl Harbor, both the Army and Navy sent explicit messages warning of imminent war to key locations, including Hawaii, the Philippines, Guam, and the Canal Zone. These warnings, unfortunately, were largely ignored by the facilities in Oahu, resulting in catastrophic consequences.
In late November 1941, the increasing tension in the Pacific was palpable. Intelligence gathered by American cryptanalysts indicated that Japan was planning a significant military operation. On November 27, 1941, a "war warning" was sent out by both the War Department and the Navy Department. This warning indicated that a Japanese attack was likely and urged all Pacific commands to take appropriate defensive measures.
"Negotiations with Japan appear to be terminated to all practical purposes with only the barest possibilities that the Japanese Government might come back and offer to continue. Japanese future action unpredictable but hostile action possible at any moment. If hostilities cannot, repeat cannot, be avoided the United States desires that Japan commit the first overt act. This policy should not, repeat not, be construed as restricting you to a course of action that might jeopardise your defence."
Tumblr media
Similarly, the Navy's communication emphasized the imminence of war and the need for vigilance:
"This dispatch is to be considered a war warning. The negotiations with Japan in an effort to stabilize conditions in the Pacific have ceased, and an aggressive move by Japan is expected within the next few days."
Despite the urgency conveyed in these messages, the response from military facilities in Oahu, where Pearl Harbor is located, was shockingly lax. Several factors contributed to this alarming oversight, including a misinterpretation of the threat's location and a general underestimation of Japan's capabilities and intentions.
Another controversial aspect of the lead-up to Pearl Harbor is the role of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Critics argue that Roosevelt was aware of the impending danger but failed to take adequate steps to prevent the attack. While it is true that Roosevelt had access to intelligence reports indicating a potential threat, the extent to which he understood or acted on this information remains a topic of debate among historians.
Tumblr media
Some theorists suggest that Roosevelt might have allowed the attack to happen to galvanize American public opinion in favor of entering World War II. However, most historians dismiss this notion as a conspiracy theory, citing the immense risk and unpredictable consequences of such an action. What is clear, though, is that the warnings from both the Army and Navy were not given the level of attention and urgency they warranted, either by Roosevelt's administration or the military commanders in Hawaii.
The attack on Pearl Harbor had devastating effects, resulting in the deaths of over 2,400 Americans and the loss of numerous ships and aircraft. In the aftermath, numerous investigations sought to understand how such a significant surprise attack could have occurred. These inquiries highlighted the failures in communication, preparedness, and the underestimation of the Japanese threat.
One of the crucial lessons from Pearl Harbor is the importance of heeding intelligence warnings and ensuring that all levels of command understand and act upon them appropriately. The tragedy underscored the need for improved communication and coordination among military and government agencies to prevent such lapses in the future.
The events leading up to the Pearl Harbor attack serve as a poignant reminder of the consequences of ignoring clear warnings. The messages sent ten days prior to the attack were explicit and direct, yet the failure to act on them resulted in one of the darkest days in American history.
As we remember Pearl Harbour, it is essential to acknowledge the lessons it taught us about vigilance, preparedness, and the critical importance of acting on intelligence to safeguard national security.

that feeling
i thought we were done. i thought your intentions with me were over. or so you made it apparent that you see no more. despite there being an empty, yet, laid table in-front of us, i still had hope; i construed a plan. a plan that would swallow your gaze onto my being. i wanted you to yearn for me and miss my presence on your phone. ten days walked by and i still thought of you: you would sweep up into my thoughts with things i would associate you with; healthy lifestyle, wealth and a presentable face. my plan was not underway and i had not executed any formal actions to grab your attention from whatever it was already fixated on, but you still stopped by and stole my attention again. you hold so much pride in yourself so this was unusual for you; taking me by great surprise. what business do you have with me all of a sudden? despite the endless questions, my heart sank back into that pit of joy and giddy it once found with you previously through exchanging witty, flirtatious comments amongst each other. fuck. why am i feeling this way about you when we have successfully failed to meet each other in person despite going to a great length to do so. how have we come back here? you admit you missed talking to me and that we should have never of fallen out in the first place. i stall my feelings with an interrupting doubt of is this bullshit or not. i am still undecided. but as we have been talking for so long consecutively and even after you decided to 'put your foot down' you still came back to me. you make me question so so heavily all the time. mostly i ponder on what is real or not; regarding you and regarding my emotions. do i actually have feelings for you or does a high status man like yourself, pursuing me, give me a sense of self worth and boost my ego a bit? whats more?
in heavy contrast to my doubt and unsure feelings, i am sure that you make me feel like a child again; that innocent feeling, that feeling of wanting to be rebellious and break rules yet equally feeling safe, loved and comforted. its a sense of security and playfulness you bring to me and i find that extremely hard to let go of. i feel totally small when i talk to you. not in the degrading way but in the way that i am looked after by you. and all you do is simply talk to me. and i haven't even met you yet: how weird is that?

A confusion about what matters
I'm confused about how to reconcile reasons to do things with a view that morality - in and of itself - is not what matters.
As I write this I find it hard to articulate.
One version of this is, if one is a utilitarian, what reason does one have to maximise utility?
If what one believes matters is the good, why should one take morally correct actions? There's no place in this axiology for intention, and under consequentialist ethics, the good is prior to the right.
This could just be a problem for consequentialist theories, but I think it affects all theories that I at least find attractive.
I find the idea that we should just state of affairs according to individual's welfare - broadly construed - but it seems like any account centred on welfare will have to relegate moral intentions to a tertiary aspect of welfare at best.

Hey, folks.
Dunno how to begin, but I’d try anyway now. So here we go:
A really uncomfortable incident has happened in a Deadendia forum on Discord recently, as many of you Deadendia/DE:PP fans may have heard, and I’m so sorry I was the trigger. I won't go into detail further, so to cut a long story short: I posted some fanarts being inappropriate for some poeple viewed with hindsight on various social-media platforms like Instagram or Twitter, but haven’t thought about I would cause feelings of anger and displeasure in this whole fandom which I now regret.
So if there are some users in that Deadendia forum on Discord being involved in this incident here on Tumblr being able to read this now:
I’m so sorry that I may have left some of you unhinged here, so I apologize to you all for what I’ve done, to Hamish Steele , to everyone possibly left inhinged! It really wasn’t my intention to do harm to Hamish and to everyone else feeling uncomfortable now by my actions, I basically did my fanarts just for fun without any bad purposes (that wasn't even porn or worse, which I'd find REALLY creepy for my taste tbh). „Just for fun?“ you may ask now? Tbh I’m struggling to find an exact answer, but all I can tell you: I just wanted to  find some other fans hoping to be able to exchange interests in this series and graphic novels with, especially with some poeple about my age (I actually joined this forum because someone sent me an invitation link and with expectation to find other fans to be become friends with, because I know DE:PP/Deadendia hasn’t a range in popularity so big like the popularity of others like Spongebob or Family Guy for example), but stupidly disregarded there are many minors in this fandom, too. I just didn’t think about that, but now know I’ve made a fatal mistake with my actions retrospectively, but unfortunately I’ve learned that the hard way. I’d say the subject concerning some fanarts of Courtney is a grey area with a line being so narrow and  unremarkable you'll have to take care not to cross, which seem to have happened to me now coz I just overlooked that line.
I don't demand you to accept my apology or to affiliate me again, I just try to take a stance to let you know I feel so endlessly sorry for the damage I may have done althought I’m hoping you’d forgive me nevertheless. I also may just have scarped and hidden  instead and fake nothing would have happened to hope it would pass out of mind someday, but it wouldn’t help myself, nor would it help you, because you deserve to be told what has come into my mind to do that, and because I owe you an explanation and an apologize. I just want to let you know I’m neither a pedophile chasing after minors and a transphobe nor do I disrespect the religion of others (to get on to that pic of Badyah without her hijab), so stop calling me that! I just didn’t expect it would be construed this way. I can only tell it was a big mistake and I'm so sorry.
But I don’t envision myself as a bad person after all, because all that wasn’t even my intention to do harm to you all. I only can confess my fault and learn from that, because everyone makes some mistakes occasionally, making mistakes goes with life to learn from them, no matter how heavy they may have been, I’ve learned from my mistakes the uncomfortable way. I only can take my stand on these happenings and apologize, but I know I can’t make you believe me and accept me again. I really haven’t done that because I would find Courtney sexually attractive, because I really don‘t after all, I don’t feel any sexual fondness for her, I’m actually in a relationship with someone being a few years older than me. It just should be fanart, no more, no less, without any bad ulterior motive or else. Believe me or not, that’s for sure something I can’t influence after all, and I know that.
I’m feeling so miserable right now for getting you in this uncomfortable situation, you have to know. I even thought I would never feel pleasure in that series and graphic novels of Deadendia again. So I’m actually still waiting for the second Deadendia book I ordered a few days ago to arrive to me home and now it feels like I won't even enjoy reading it without being reminded of that incident and that’s a real pity in my opinion. So I can only try to make the best of that mistake I‘ve learned from for the future, because I can’t turn back these happenings.
Therefore: I apologize for all the trouble I’ve done to you with my actions, that was never  anything I wanted to achieve.
So to not let it escalate any further there was nothing else to do for me but to delete all fanarts being inappropriate everywhere, that will be the best for everyone. I know, it won’t make this incident unhappen again, but this and my public apology to you would help me (and probably you, too) to come to terms with all that.
This fandom should be a safe space for everyone I never wanted to destroy, also for me coz I became a fan because of the great representation in this series and graphic novels and Courtney became my favorite character because of her wierd characteristics. And I also became a fan because I recognized myself in Norma because of my own past experiencing bullying and exclusion in my schooltime (i. e. because I grew in circumstances of financial poverty). So this series also gave me comfort in difficult times I had to deal with and I’ll remain a fan after all, but with trying not to do harm to anyone with inappropriate fanarts or else in the future.
But to be fair I have to say the way you reproached me for having done this trouble to you wasn’t the right way neither. I approve that you wanted to make me take notice I made a mistake, but I wish you’d have found a more appropiate solution to do so instead of sharing some fanarts of mine to everyone on Discord without my permission to show me up kinda as a sick-minded minor chaser and transphobe who I am not and throwing some bad accusations towards me which aren't even true. You could have written me personally what I may have done wrong without the presence of everyone instead. I could have been someone being mentally very fragile who won't bear that happened incident any longer and therefore can’t find another solution for himself/herself/themselves than committing suicide in the end in the worst case. So would you like to be responsible for the death of someone you kinda witch-hunted? I don’t think so!
I would be so glad if you would like to communicate with me after all that trouble anyway, so if you still have any questions or feel the need to write me in general anyway, feel free to contact me, but only on condition that you’ll do it in a respectful manner towards me!

Blackmailing Own Parents Is A Criminal Offence?
Blackmailing is when a person threatens the other person while setting up a situation in which the person being blackmailed is forced to do a specific action under pressure. But when we talk about the bond between parents and their children, emotional blackmail is incredibly hurtful. Here we will discuss whether blackmailing own parents is a criminal offense or not.
Laws Governing Blackmail
Blackmail is not exactly a criminal offense but it can be construed as a criminal offense under IPC if it falls under the essential elements of the provided provisions. There is no specific provision for blackmail under the Indian Penal Code of 1860 which protects parents against blackmail. But the Indian Penal Code lays down certain provisions which are similar to blackmail. They are:-
Section 383 of IPC- Extortion occurs when, by using force and threats, one person tries to obtain something dishonestly from the other, especially money. For example- ‘A’ (Son), putting ‘Z’ (Parents) in fear of grievous hurt, made a ‘Z’ sign and affixed his seal to a blank paper. In this case, the signed document could become a valuable security. ‘A’ has committed extortion.
It is punishable under Section 384 of IPC with imprisonment for up to 3 years, a fine, or both.
Tumblr media
Section 503 of IPC- Criminal Intimidation occurs when one person threatens the other to injure or harm his reputation or threatens the person in whom the person is interested. For example- ‘A’ (Daughter), to induce ‘B’ to desist from prosecuting a civil suit, threatens to burn ‘B’ (Parents) house.
It is punishable under Section 506 of IPC with imprisonment for up to 2 years, a fine, or both.
Section 66D of IT Act- This covers crimes committed online or otherwise by the use of a computer, in which the offender assumes a false identity with the malicious aim to deceive another person.
It is punishable with imprisonment for up to 3 years and shall be liable to a fine of up to 1 lakh rupees.
Blackmail and Extortion: Difference
Blackmail and extortion are both forms of extortion. Despite their differences, extortion, and blackmail both have the same basic principles. But the fundamental difference between extortion and blackmail is that-
Blackmail involves the threat of disclosing sensitive or damaging information,
Whereas extortion involves the fear of bodily injury or property damage.
Essential Elements of Extortion (Section 383 IPC)
If there is a transfer of property by the owner to the extortionist,
If the extortionist should have a bona fide motive to keep the person in fear of harm or injury.
Obtaining delivery of the property with a dishonest intent
Essential Elements of Criminal Intimidation (Section 503 of IPC)
Intention
Threat aimed to alarm the victim
The risk of fear or injury to the victim
Blackmail can be in the form of offline as well as online modes. In a shocking incident in India, a young child from Ghaziabad, age 11, utilized YouTube to master hacking techniques. The child demanded Rs. 10 crores as ransom and threatened to extort his father. He threatened to disclose private photos and family secrets online if the money was not delivered to him. He was then charged under Section 503 of IPC and Section 66D of the IT Act.
Steps for Filing a Blackmail Complaint against Children
Registering an FIR- The parent's first and foremost step should be registering an FIR at the nearest police station against their children. The next step is to send a legal notice of the same through their Lawyers in Gurgaon to their children.
Legal Advice from Expert Lawyers- We also suggest that parents facing such blackmail from their children must take advice from any Criminal Lawyer in Gurgaon who would help and guide them in a better way to deal with this situation. Such parents can also ask any Criminal lawyer for free legal assistance or free legal questions regarding their current conditions to deal with their warm-hearted children.

“Make 1,500 Prison Jobs Party Plums, Cabinet Aim,” Toronto Star. March 1, 1933. Page 1 & 2. ---- Guthrie Introduces Bill to Take Positions From Civil Service ---- OPPOSITION LIKELY ---- Special to The Star Ottawa. March 1. - Fifteen hundred employees of the penitentiaries branch of the department of justice will be removed from the control of the civil service commission and placed under the patronage system, according to notice given on the order piper of the House of Commons to-day by Hon. Hugh Guthrie.
While officially it was said that "no criticism" is made of civil service commission appointees, no further explanation is forthcoming from the department of justice.
The resolution which sets forth the government's intention reads: "That it is expedient to amend the Penitentiary Act to provide that the governor in council may appoint a superintendent of penitentiaries and may appoint such inspectors, wardens, deputy-wardens, and other administrative or executive officers as may be required, with such salaries as are approved by the governor-in-council, and that the superintendent, upon the recommendation of the warden, may appoint such guards, trade instructors and other subordinate officers and employees as are necessary with such salaries as are approved by the governor-in-council, and to make further provisions in respect to gratuities paid to officers on retirement and to the widows or dependents of officers who die in the service."
Indications here are that the motion will be bitterly opposed by opposition members, marking as it does the first wholesale swing away from the non-political system of appointments in the straight class of patronage. Many possible abuses are foreseen.
At present the land settlement board, the radio commission, the tariff board and the income tax branch all come under patronage. Postmasters of the smaller branches have also been nominated by members of parliament. These branches, The Star understands, have never been under the civil service com- mission. Appointments to penitentiaries in any capacity will come under the aegis of the party in power if the bill passes.
No Explanation No explanation for the action is found in the recent riots, for the parliamentary committee which investigated this trouble made recommendations which could be construed as suggesting a change.
Through the change positions carrying annual salaries totalling $1,250,000 become available as rewards for service to the government in power.
Place for Favorites While the reason for the government's action is not quite apparent. Opposition members say they regard it as a retrograde step which will result in penitentiary offices being filled with political favorites, removable at the pleasure of whatever government is in power.
There is a suggestion that the government in attempting to clean up the staff after the recent riots was unable to "fire" the men it desired to because of the fact they were civil service employees.
J. S. Woodsworth, leader of the C.C.F., announced to-day that he intends to fight the move to the last ditch in the House. "The tendency all along the line has been towards a return to patronage," he said. "This looks like patronage at its worst. When the civil service com- mission was formed it was to be, in theory, at least, a non-partisan, non-political body, who could make appointments without fear or favor. It of course, has not been allowed to operate that way. Under this move I am afraid we shall see our peniten- tlary positions filled, not because of merit, but because of some service rendered the government."
Bringing Evils Back Humphrey Mitchell (Hamilton, Labor), was equally emphatic. "I am opposed, absolutely, to anything that savors of a return to the old system patronage," he said. "It would bring back the evils the civil Iservice commission was designed to check. It is one place where the government should not attempt to meddle.
"In England, of course, a member of the Commons has no weight with the civil service commission. The same thing could be arrived at here if the commission was allowed to be absolutely non-partisan, non-political organization."
Granting the possibility that the government may have found some weakness in the civil service group, A. A. Heap, Labor member, said: "If the civil service commission is not functioning properly this is not the way to cure it. Instead of reducing its powers in this way the commission should be strengthened so that it does not need to fear any government so long as it does its duty."
"We will fight the thing in the House," said Henry Spencer, member for Battle River. "But what can you do against a government which has a majority of 30 members. Undoubtedly they will be able to push the thing through."

I know Carlisle is oblivious when it comes to Edwards true nature but would he really allow Edward to manipulate and abuse Rosalie in his home? Edward does manipulate and gaslight Bella but it happens where the Cullens can't hear
Anon is referring to this nightmare fuel of a post. Anon, I was sparse with details on scenario 2 because it's not a place any of us should be going.
But alright, let's do it.
I'm sadly leaning towards yes due to what we see in canon. Edward gets away with all of this in canon with Bella Swan. Now, as you point out, the vast majority of this happens behind the scenes for the other Cullens. They see next to none of it and what they do see can be construed away with benign explanations.
They want to see the best in Edward and nothing he does makes them doubt this.
Edward isn't a bright guy, but he's very good at hiding his intentions/problematic behavior. Edward is just self-aware enough to know that he's... not what he wishes to be and what everyone thinks he is. He takes great pains to hide his true nature from everyone.
Noticeably, in Twilight, when Edward is first approaching Bella he's much more subtle than he is by, say, Eclipse. I'm not shocked Bella didn't see the red flags early in their relationship.
But back to this AU.
I think Edward would play this very carefully. He'd convince both himself and the family that he's helping rape victim Rosalie, that he's her pillar of support, and everything he does is for her wellbeing. Now, Carlisle may be a bit worried about some of Edward's behavior and have some talks with him, but it can be explained away as Edward being young and protective. He might not take the best actions but he has Rosalie's best interests at heart.
Then there's the times of day the others aren't around. Edward and Rosalie go to school without Carlisle and Esme, Edward has eight hours a day to work on Rosalie. Not to mention I can imagine Edward convincing Rosalie to hang outside at night with him to give Esme and Carlisle privacy for sex.
Rosalie is probably convinced/gaslit into silence/believing Edward's behavior is indeed normal and within her best interests. She is at her most vulnerable in the period after her transformation and rape and Edward will take full advantage of that.
So if Carlisle or Esme ask how Rosalie's doing, she says that Edward is wonderful and the perfect brother/gentleman. Any uneasiness Carlisle might have is... assuaged, for now, or at the very least pushed to the side.
TL;DR Edward is a snake and I think he could pull it off.

7:00 PM: T-MINUS 14 HOURS UNTIL IMPERIAL CONVOY DEPARTURE
You were used to being moved around by other people, poked and prodded and lifted up so that stays could be tied or burdensome headpieces be attached to your head. Shuffled around to smile and be proper, sedated by heavy skirts and perfume. It was a fact of life.
Your dress was unlaced by the mechanical hands of an attendant, the change happening quickly and without fond regard from any party. It was early evening now and the sky peeled itself into a burnt orange. If you closed your eyes, you could almost taste citrus.
“Careful, please,” you whispered with a slight wince as the woman’s thin fingers brushed against your neck, both of your reflections cast warm in the mirror you now stood in front of. They were almost-bruises. Little ghost flower petals. Delicate and pretty, trailing behind your neck and not quite noticeable.
The woman only nodded. Servants weren’t ones to ask questions.
 ⫸ ———————————————————————————— ⫷
3:25 PM: T-MINUS 17 HOURS AND 35 MINUTES UNTIL IMPERIAL CONVOY DEPARTURE
The world seemed to tip on its axis, spinning too fast and not at all. It’d only been a minute, maybe two, but Boba’s words hung out to dry in the summer air and there was nothing else to do but wait for the actions to fulfill themselves. It shouldn’t have been as easy as it was to let him keep kissing you, but you only broke away to warn in a jolted, harsh whisper when his touch became too sharp. “Don’t leave any marks.”
“Are you commanding me?” Boba sneered, his voice slightly cruel as his gloved thumbs rubbed circles into your hip bones. You didn’t bother opening your eyes to look at him, letting his mouth skid over your jaw. Your answering yes or no wouldn’t make much of a difference. You had the feeling he would do what he liked either way. You had the feeling you’d let him.
It was strange, too fast. Too fast because really, what did you know about Boba? Were you even on first name terms? He’d never called you your name, and you’d never called him his. You’d only known of him for a few weeks. Had truly talked to him for even less than that. Maybe you should stay a capitalized Princess and he should be “Fett.” For the sake of clinicality.
Letting him lift you up and onto his lap was most definitely not clinical. “That depends,” you croaked out after a moment, finally looking at his face in your half-stupor. He’d sat you up to face him and you’d gone with, pliable and keening. Being champagne drunk felt like this; like his eyes coal-black and the way he seemed to take up everything in your mind until there was no room for reason.  You traced over the scar on his forehead with a light mouth, knees bowed to nestle closer and every muscle in your body flexing, tensed as if dripped over with sunshine. “Are you going to listen?”
The smile of a predator was the only answer he gave you.
⫸ ————————————⫷
3:30 PM: T-MINUS 17 HOURS AND 30 MINUTES UNTIL IMPERIAL CONVOY DEPARTURE
Men were vile. They had clammy hands that wandered to your thighs at banquet dinners, slimy mouths when they pressed their lips to your hand in greeting. They were all insufferable and you promised never to go near one as long as you could help it. But promises were a boring thing to keep sometimes. They were much more fun to break.
Boba spoke but it was swallowed in your interlocking mouths, hungry and escalating desperate. You were still sitting with—on?—him, too cowardly to do anything more than kiss and let yourself be felt by the strength of a man’s greed. He tasted like teeth and blood and pink flesh. That was the thing that no one had ever told you about kisses; about men like him. They tasted like broken skin.
You were eating Boba whole. He was eating you piece by piece.
You were just kissing. Had been just kissing for what seemed like ages but was actually only fifteen standard minutes. Fifteen standard minutes for your stays to be dragged loose, your lips to be bitten plush, and both sandals abandoned somewhere in the slow scramble. It wasn’t so much desperation as it was just a sheer curiosity goading your irrationality, but the end result was the same: a man squeezing the back of your neck, calling you lovely in the same breath he called you naive.
“Take them off,” you almost demanded, pulling desperately at his gloves as the warm leather dragged against your fingernails. Learned manners were added in as an afterthought. “Please.”
His one-handed grip on your thigh tightened. It would bruise, likely. Raise questions, definitely. You would have to chalk it up to something else. A fall. A bad trip on a set of stairs. Anything besides what was happening now. The words rumbled against your chest and registered vaguely as a threat. “What was that?”
Huffy and impatient, you answered in a much more keening, undignified echo. “Please, pleasepleaseplease—”
Boba put his fingers in your mouth.
Boba put his fingers in your mouth.
Stuffed was the more apt word. You tried not to think about how he could only fit two of them inside without hurting you. It made you feel temperature-hot, physically burning until your cheeks and your insides twisted into smoldering ash because his fingers breached the alabaster edges of your teeth until they almost gagged you on your own tongue. Boba drew his hand back only when you sighed around it, sedated with fluttering eyes and no longer asking questions. His voice seemed to get deeper, raspier around the unplaceable accent from a place you’d never heard of and probably never would. “Good girl.”
The gloves stayed on. Why they did and why you couldn’t just get him to do what you wanted like everyone else you had no idea, but your frustration quickly ebbed into hazy, sparking pleasure. He called you good. You liked being good.
Your hips stuttered when they caught on Boba’s trousers and suddenly you were giggling into the thick muscle of his shoulder, quiet and juvenile in your own disbelief. Everything about this was absurd and inappropriate, which formed the basis of your amusement. It was something to play with. Someone. Big and shiny in the most literal sense of the word.
The hunter let out what could be construed as a laugh but sounded more akin to a growl and two large palms settled again on the soft rise of your hips. “Not here,” he repeated into your jaw, the words that were previously muffled so long ago now clearer. Not here. Which implied a theoretical somewhere other than here where you would possibly, hypothetically be doing more than- “We need to go.”
You should go. You should be pushing him off of you and running and screaming or something equally inflammatory because this was… because his...
“No,” you protested weakly with a slow shake of your head. Your hands curled around his pauldrons and rested there, limp and slightly shaking. “No, they- they didn’t actually need me for anything. My father just had to—oh Maker-” his cuisse plate pressed up hard between the warm softness of your thighs. “—had to send someone out to search for me—” you rutted against his leg once, twice before the arms around your waist tightened again and inhibited any further attempts at movement. You recovered from the loss of friction quickly, instead letting yourself sag into his solid chest as one set of fingertips dragged along your spine. “—’s just a poor look for him not to,” you finished flippantly, barely audible from where your face settled smushed against the creep of stubble on his cheek. “Bad press.”
“I’ve still got places to be, princess. Even if you don’t.”
“Oh I’m terribly sorry,” you tried replying sarcastically as his mouth flattened against the thin skin of your neck. His lips were soft, but they pressed against you like anything but. You tried rolling your hips again but were thwarted. “Am I in the way of a prior engagement?”
“Something like that.”
“Well then,” you flattened your palms against his chest plate and broke away from the seal of his touch. It wasn’t fair. You couldn’t breathe right and looked like you’d been dragged through a sarlacc pit, but he was just sitting there. Watching you. His eyes were hungry though. “Why let me keep you?”  The words were shot through with airy exhales as you were lifted up off the smooth stone. “I was under the impression that you hated me,” you continued into Boba’s neck with hands curled around the dark curls at its nape.
You did think that, before… this. Now you didn’t know what to believe, what his intentions were. Most likely they were the same as yours. Nothing good.
Whatever either of your motivations were, they would have to be paused now. For his mysterious, vague “engagement” and probably for the betterment of your health, because you were certain if you stayed here with him, shielded away from prying eyes and marching men, your heart would burst right out of your chest and through your ears.
Your legs wobbled slightly when he set you standing on the ground, Boba’s helmet still laying on the fountain’s edge, and you handed it to him with a reverence that belayed the previous minute’s informality. When it was restored to his head you found yourself mourning the loss of his face. You’d been spoiled this last hour. You didn’t like not seeing it anymore.
“I don’t.” was his short reply. What a wordsmith.
“Aren’t you still my escort?” you huffed, trying to catch your breath. Your chest rose and fell in panted inhales. Wiping haphazardly at your mouth, you leaned over the fountain’s reflection and attempted to compose yourself. The circlet usually pinned neatly to your head lay crooked and loose, glimmering its delicate metals in the daylight as you fussed with it this way and that. The pool of water currently acting as a mirror rippled too much to be of any real use. You pressed your palms to your flushed cheeks and mumbled. “My penitentiary guard, more like.”
Boba turned you around to face him with his hands on your shoulders and you imagined his eyes to still be edged in charcoal embers. The last smudge of lipstick on your chin was rubbed away by a broad thumb and you watched, curious to his intentions and surprised at his actions, when he reached up to right your crown.
“Let’s go, princess.”
You didn’t argue. You’d been sated from rebellion for the time being.

4:10 PM: T-MINUS 15 HOURS AND 50 MINUTES UNTIL IMPERIAL CONVOY DEPARTURE
The mercenary stood by the side entrance watching you.
“You look a mess!” your mother admonished, harried with the exertion of the day’s events that you somehow managed not to be privy to. Apparently there was to be a dinner with the guests leaving the next morning, and apparently you specifically were asked to be present. Both would be dull pieces of information on the best of days but now, after the events that had just transpired, they were positively brain-numbing.
The queen consort motioned for you to turn around and you complied with a slow spin as your being was examined for minor casualties. Once the woman assured herself of your being alive and unharmed, barely registering the tall figure that stood mere yards away, she allowed herself more frantic inquiries as she shuffled you down the hallway. “What were you doing out there?”
“Oh nothing,” you answered vaguely, eyes trailing as far back towards the doors as they could go without actually turning your head. There was a flash of green armor. “I just wanted to take a walk, is all.” You turned to her and smiled your best attempt at a brilliant, royal-white assurance. “Clear my head.”

Antique Legend: Dreams On A Garbage Heap 9
Seiya: [ First off, it’s good manners for me to introduce myself from the start! I’m a super idol, so I may be lacking in common sense and I apologise for that! I am—as everybody knows—Hocchan’s Papa~! ☆ ]
Season: Autumn Author: Akira Characters: Madara, Shu, Seiya
Tumblr media
Shu: Anyway. I intend to sell my grandfather’s inheritance at this underground Antique Market at the highest price possible. The proceeds will then be given to Kagehira, who is in need of the money.
Then, that would have been the end of the matter. That was my plan from the start—
—If the two of you hadn’t stuck your noses into my business, that is—you thrice-accursed Double Face.
Tumblr media
Madara: Hmm~hm. So Shu-san had no intention of passing any of his personal profits from the Antique Market to the P-Association or to the agency office—
—And was intending to donate it all to Mika-san instead?
Shu: Yes. Anonymously, of course. I was going to sign off the entire donation with “From Daddy-Long-Legs”. (1)
That child is a fool, so I’m sure that he will never suspect a thing. He would just exclaim to me in childish wonder, “So such miracles do exist after all~!” while grinning innocently from ear to ear—
—And I would be side-eyeing Kagehira while he rejoiced like this, chuckling triumphantly to myself at having fooled him successfully—How satisfying that would have been...
Ngggh. I went to all this effort to spin the threads for such a heart-warming story, but the two of you sank your fangs into my plans and ruined it for naught. How are you ever going to make it up to me?
Madara: Hahaha. I can’t help but smile wryly at Shu-san’s overly fairy tale-like thought processes, and there is still a lot that I would like to say to you...
However, for the record, I do think that we have meddled unnecessarily in this matter too, so I won’t add insult to injury by continuing to lecture you at length...
—To that, the most stripped down thing that I will say about this matter is this—it’s only because you guys were behaving suspiciously that we even got mobilised at all—
—And that was due to Shu-san’s childish sense of shame, because of how embarrassed you would be if Mika-san found out how much you cared about him—
—That led to Ibara-san secretly pulling strings for you to make it happen, and making so many behind the scenes negotiations with the P-Association, the organisers of this Antique Market—
—That series of covert actions were just too suspicious, so it caught our attention.
Shu: Hmph! That’s a nauseating theory. Are you saying that bullied children can be bullied because there are reasons to justify bullying them?
It’s always like this with you people; you justify yourselves for overlooking evil actions by claiming that the victim was at fault too!
If there was anything “bad” about the victims, it would only be their “luck” that was bad. That was the only thing that could be construed as ours, and you should not have gone on to commit the shameful act of kicking a dead corpse!
Madara: Yes. No matter what the reason may be, the side who uses violence first is the one that’s always at fault.
That’s why, we are rather apologetic too, and that’s why we have offered to make it up to you like this.
Shu: Are you expecting me to be grateful? We deserve compensation for what you’ve done after all.
Madara: Yes. The underground Antique Market will be starting soon, and we—our Double Face and your Valkyrie—will be performing together on stage.
We will have a live showdown, just like we did on stage the other day—
—And there, Valkyrie will defeat Double Face completely.
Shu: Yes. That is the plan.
Even though it’s called an underground event, it is only the venue that is divided from the main—There is nothing concealed about it. Whatever happens there will be made public, and the information will spread to the whole world immediately.
Madara: That’s right. And although Valkyrie lost to us on stage the other day—
—The information about the results of that stage have been sealed off since then, so it’s not public.
And since this major stage is hosted by the P-Association, the news of today’s outcome will definitely carry more weight and spread further than that one—
And—Valkyrie is much stronger than Double Face—that is how the narrative will go.
Tumblr media
Shu: For us, we will be satisfied to have our reputation repaired, of course. However, are the two of you really fine with your outcome? When your utter defeat is publicised as such, won’t that spell trouble for what you do?
Madara: No, no, we aren’t really Yakuza after all... ... On the other hand, we’re inspiring a little too much fear in others right now, so it’s actually a good thing if we could be underestimated a little more.
That way, it would be easier for the unwary to show their true colours and give themselves away—and when the villains let their guard down and start making their move, we’ll be able to hunt them down at our usual level of competence with ease.
Honour once diminished is not easily restored—however, we’ll turn even that to our advantage.
It’s fine if we’re not clean all the time—we don’t mind if we’re entirely smeared with mud either—We’re the only ones who know how to fight like this.
It might be too difficult for Valkyrie or Ryuuseitai to carry out that kind of dirty work, but not for us... Well, Double Face was created for the sake of fulfilling such a role after all.
Shu: You actually look like you’re enjoying yourself, Mikejima.
Madara: This role just suits the person that I am too well, I guess~? Even though I don’t want it to be...
... ... This is not what I dreamt of becoming as a child, not by a long shot.
Shu: That’s just life not always going the way we wish it to, I guess.
Madara: That is so. Sometimes, the moment when you feel that everything’s going well for you—that everything’s gonna be okay—that’s the moment when you fall into an unexpected pit trap.
That’s also part of life, I guess. If that happens, I would hope—at the very least—that I’m strong enough to crawl my way out of that hole again.
Shu: If you’re out of options, I think it’s fine—no matter how compromised you may be—to ask for help from the depths of that hole.
It may very well be that there are neither Gods nor allies of justice in this world—however, there will definitely be someone who will answer and reach out to you in your time of need.
Madara: ... ... ... ...
Seiya: [ Pin Pon Pan Pon ♪
Hello everyone~, are you enjoying yourselves at this Antique Market? —I’m— having a great time! ]
Tumblr media
Shu: What’s this, a public broadcast?
Madara: An announcement for a lost child—No, that doesn’t seem to be it. A service announcement, maybe?
That voice belongs to Hidaka Seiya, doesn’t it? He’s from the P-Association, so it’s not unusual for him to be present at this Antique Market at all~...
Seiya: [ First off, it’s good manners for me to introduce myself from the start! I’m a super idol, so I may be lacking in common sense and I apologise for that! I am—as everybody knows—Hocchan’s Papa~! ☆
Oh? Oh my? Hocchan, stay, stay! All of this is being broadcast on air right now, you know?
Everyone’s going to think you’re the worst kind of person who commits domestic violence, are you really fine with that? Let’s put down that hard and heavy object now, shall we? ]
Shu: ... ... What is this travesty even about?
Seiya: [ Yes! Anyway! This news came rather abruptly, however, it is still my job to inform everyone about it!
There will be a high stakes sale of antique items taking place on the newly constructed stage in the ES building soon— ]
Madara: Hmm. So he’s talking about the underground Antique Market, where we’re supposed to perform on stage and liven things up...
Seiya: [ —During this event, I will be exhibiting my own “little treasure”, an item that has been in my possession for a long time!
You can find out more about it on the official SNS account of the Antique Market—Well, I can tell everyone that it’s definitely a rare and precious item that one seldom gets to see!
—And I’m planning to give this treasure away for free, to either Valkyrie or Double Face, both of whom will be performing live here today! ]
Shu: ... ... ...?
Seiya: [ They can sell the treasure away on the spot or take it home—the choice is entirely up to them!
Please think of it as a little gift from a magnificent senior idol—that’s me, yours truly—to his juniors!
However!—Now I’m going to make a threat that sounds like a joke—The unit that is unable to earn this treasure will definitely fall to ruin, probably! ]
Madara: ... ... ... Huh?
Seiya: [ Yes! So! Please fight to the death for this treasure! I want to see young idols locked in mortal conflict, battling each other with all their might!
I’ve seen too many old and worn-out objects in this Antique Market, so I want to taste something fresh as a palate-cleanser! Ahahaha!
—Everyone, you probably feel the same way I do, right? I am a super idol after all, so I know how all my fans’ feel like the back of my hand! ]

Translator’s Notes:
If you Google “Daddy Long Legs”, you will get the title of a novel written in 1912 where the main character, an orphan, receives financial help from an anonymous benefactor. She only saw him once from behind and because he was a tall, long-legged man, she gave him the titular nickname.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daddy-Long-Legs_(novel)  Yeah, Shu is a pretty romantic porcupine.
Madara’s line in the game describing Shu’s thought process is “Shu-san’s overly märchen thought processes”. Märchen is German for ‘fairy tale’.
The picture of Madara and Shu at the end sums up my feelings exactly.
This is not proofed, so if you spot any mistakes, please PM me.

This is a post regarding the valid concerns that Harvey (@/zenigatakeibu), Newt (@/efneyed, @/ilparadisio), and our friend in common Jiuta have raised regarding the content of this blog. I am making a public post addressing them because I do not want to violate the understandable boundaries they have established between myself and them and because I want to address my public mistakes in a public forum. Everyone I interact with here I by and large consider a friend and I believe it is incredibly important to have clear, open, and honest dialogue with those I care for.
The concerns raised against my writing on this blog were as follows: content in the realm of "dubious consent" or dub-con and content that fetishizes, normalizes, or otherwise perpetuates violence and bigotry against Asian people.
To address the first: I want to make it clear that I believe "dub-con" and "non-con" are labels that have no function and serve to try and soften what they depict. Such content is sexualization of rape, and I do not condone it under any circumstances. There was a short piece of writing I posted that depicted an interaction that could easily be construed as content normalizing or glamorizing sexual assault. I have since deleted it, not as a way to absolve myself for writing it but because I don't want that kind of material to continue to exist. I don't want it having even the potential to cause anyone harm. Consent is and should always be freely given and freely retracted, and any violation of that is a heinous act and should be addressed as such. This is something incredibly important to me for a litany of personal reasons, but even with my own background taken into account the fact remains that I made a grave error. I did not properly convey the act depicted in my writing as 100% unquestionably consensual as I had intended it to be. As is evident, I do enjoy writing content that is sexual in nature and delves into the realm of BDSM-- but to be clear, what I depicted was not that. It was an act of violence that should never be seen as sexy, as trivial, or as normal.
To address the second: as of late I have had my interpretation of Kent interacting with several muses of Asian descent. In my take on him, which I had attempted to make realistic in an extrapolation of my understanding of the film, I have had him function as an agent for some truly reprehensible behavior toward them. This is something I admittedly have not reflected on and I am disappointed in myself for not having done so. As a Black American I believe it is incredibly important to stand in solidarity with the other marginalized people that inhabit this country, and I have failed to stand by that belief. In the face of rampant anti-Asian racism as the COVID-19 pandemic continues and in the face of so many common media depictions of Asian people being mistreated, abused, and sexualized by white men, I should have known better and done better. I know that being part of one marginalized group does not absolve me of causing lateral aggression. I had believed I was writing in a way that was realistic and tasteful when this was not at all the case. In the end, no level of "realism" is ever justified if it ends up causing harm to people. I will be removing such content from my blog as time allows, for the same reason as the above. I would not want it to have the potential to hurt anyone again in any way, shape, or form.
I want to assure you all that I will be more conscious of what I create and post in the future. If you decide to continue following me in light of this, I am incredibly grateful. I appreciate any and all feedback so I can continue to improve and avoid causing any harm like this in the future; I'm certain that the friends who have raised these concerns against me have more concrete examples of the objectionable content I have posted here should you need reference. I know that even in spite of my best intentions, the affects of my actions have had real negative consequences and have made people I care about feel unsafe.
Should I continue to keep writing Kent, I will be doing so in a way that will no longer be openly prejudiced and will certainly no longer commit any acts that could ever be seen as a violation of someone's consent. There is no point in continuing with a portrayal that has the potential to cause even discomfort, let alone the real harm that has been caused so far. I got complacent in being known as "a nice person behind a mean muse", and that complacency rendered me uncritical of my behavior.
From the bottom of my heart, I apologize. I am deeply sorry for the hurt I have caused, especially to Harvey, Newt, and Jiuta. I understand and will respect any distance placed between I and this character in the future, and want you all to know I will strive to improve myself as to avoid this kind of harm in the future. I know that good intentions only mean so much in the face of terrible actions, but please know at least that I never at all intended to perpetuate or endorse anything as disgusting and inexcusable as sexual assault and racism.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions or concerns. Thank you for reading.
EDIT: Thank you to everyone who's reached out. I hope that my words here have not come off as self-flagellating or anything similar, because I take matters like this very seriously. Should anyone ever have any concerns in the future about what I might come across as endorsing, do not hesitate to discuss them with me. The last thing I ever want to do is hurt anyone.
For the time being I will be, as likely expected, taking a bit of a break. Again, please feel more than free to contact me if you have any concerns or questions.
