missing numbers was secretly a ploy to get really really into doing worldbuilding based on this extremely specific in-universe pseudo-meta horror based in the pokemon franchise. a lot of stuff we're cooking past gens 1+2 is original content based in the spirit of the classic trainerpastas based on those games... something something its all about the natural next step and the world of Pokemon is so fundamentally fucked. idkkkk smiles

i'm #newtoradblr i've spent so much time these past two weeks scrolling through radfem blogs i knew i had to make an actual radfem side of tumblr blog for my own sanity. the way i "peaked" is kinda funny 3-4 months ago i liked a radfem post without realizing and all of a sudden i had other radfem posts recommended to me by the algorithm and i was so annoyed because i was very anti-terf etc but for a couple days i read through a bunch of radfem blogs and it was actually such a relief to encounter FEMINISM not some watered down version of it but i felt guilty due to 5+ years of conditioning (and also because i had a nonbinary friend sitting right next to me in class as i was doing this) and i also didn't like the prominent use of the word moid? but anyway, 3 months later, i'm not sure why but the mra nature of the trans movement has grown so much more apparent to me i have like three mutuals who are trans men on my other blog and i would find myself rereading the few feminist posts i would reblog/write because these people are literally reblogging shit like "don't think like a terf. men aren't your oppressors, they're your friends/neighbors/brothers/fathers. if you think that any man could harm you you have been fooled by terf rhetoric" like actual morons/meninists. anyway two weeks ago i saw a post made by someone i knew was a radfem on my twitter tl and i don't know why i knew i was ready i went through her blog and through many others and now here i am.
#still dislike the word moid i know it's in response to 4chan people saying shit like femoid but it reads too much like a racist slur for me#to be cool with people saying it#i don't mean it reads like a racist slur towards men i mean it's way too reminiscent of the word negroid#it really made me think people were right about radical feminism being a gateway to being a conservative because...it literally feels#racist to me lmao i don't think i'll ever like it#gonna go follow the few blogs i followed on my main + others now#and i was actually always pretty radical in my feminism i was never what one would call a libfem i just wasn't A RadFem because i was into#the whole trans thing#it's different when you're not on tumblr/not exclusively interacting with trans people on the internet. people taking such an issue with#feminism and claiming that its most basic aspects (men oppress women) are transphobic and terf rhetoric is really only a thing on tumblr#and in those circles it's especially different when you're not talking in english#and i'm pretty sure everyone i follow on twitter supports trans people but the mra nature of trans right activism just has not hit them the#way it has hit tumblr they're still very normal about feminism it's actually so nice to go there and say i hate men with no caveat#the only people who would bother me if they came across my tweets saying that would be: cis men misogynists and people on the far right in#general#crazy that on tumblr it's the most leftist people i'd have to worry about hahaha...#ipost

It’s finally done, guys – five whole pages of Narilamb AU comic AND MORE be upon you! (If you have trouble reading any of the text, view the full-size! These pages are huge!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yeesh, this took forever. <:)
There’s probably a ton of inconsistencies and anatomy/perspective wonkeries, but this was mostly just comic practice, so Oh Hekkin Well, Lol <:D
(Yes, I am aware the Gateway’s door isn’t present in the Afterlife, and the actual way in is just a pentagram portal. Yes, I put the door in there anyway because Artistic License, i.e. it felt more impactful for there to be a prison door of sorts to walk through to freedom, rather than just a bland boring portal on the ground. 😠)
anyway, i hate backgrounds so much lmao
Alternate ending and a buttload of bonus art under the cut, followed by goofy AU rambles and headcanon stuff:
I’m calling it the Revival AU. It’s not all that creative a title, and someone else has probably used it already, but I am too lazy to really care, LOL
Alternate ending page, which you will Definitely need to view the full-size for, Whoopsie Daisy:
Tumblr media
The alternate ending was actually the first ending I finished things off with, because I had a brief badbrain moment where I forgot the emotional beat I initially wanted the comic to end on, and I tend to write comedy, anyway. I later remembered and drew out the proper ending, but I preserved and finished this one, too, because it still makes me giggle.
They had to go back for the followers off-screen in the AU’s real ending. And by ‘they’ I mean just the Lamb, because they weren’t about to ask three newly freed cats to go back into what used to be their prison. The Lamb DID spend some time watching Narinder and the bois enjoying the outdoors first, though:
Tumblr media
In other news, here’s the Lamb and me making fun of my anatomy-drawing ‘skills’:
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, if you’re wondering why the Lamb is just a-okay with how things went down vis a vis Their Murder, this bonus comic should answer at least some of your questions:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ah, yes, also this is how they get engaged outside of the alternate ending. Forgot to mention that bit. XD (I already refuse to believe that Narinder is capable of flirting normally, so why would his initial marriage proposal be any better???)
Oh, and before any of them get a chance to actually head back to the cult grounds, there is one potential problem:
Tumblr media
And by ‘problem’ I mean something Narinder intends to ignore for At Minimum a thousand years. Cuz he’s a petty bitch like that. :D
what do you mean i drew the lamb too tall compared to the background? clearly they’re standing on top of baal and aym lmao, why else would you think those two aren’t in this one??? (aym and baal got way too excited about finally being outside, you see, and their silly modes are nothing to sneeze at)
And, speaking of heading back to the cult grounds, I’m sure y’all would love to know how the Lamb’s followers felt about the brand new change in management:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It all went better than expected. <:D Tiny ramble now, feel free to skip down to the next comic.
Before you ask, no, the Lamb does not have any actual powers anymore, other than the immortality Narinder definitely grants them. The Red Crown just thinks it’s funny to suggest otherwise, and Narinder does nothing to discourage this. Also, the Lamb and Narinder aren’t actually married here yet, but, uh. Pretty safe to say that particular ritual directly follows the events of this comic. XD
Given how quickly he mellows out in canon, Narinder probably chills out a lot in this AU once he’s in charge of the cult, too, if only because 1.) He’s finally free, and 2.) He’s equally smitten with and distracted by the Lamb. He’s definitely in charge at least 95% of the time, though, because the Lamb never actually wanted to be a cult leader and, now that their time as a vessel is done, they just want to be a normal(ish) sheep who’s wholly devoted to their hot new divine husband.
Some followers do still have some valid concerns about these two being together, though, which I’m sure at least a few of you might share…
Tumblr media
Unfortunately for any such concerns, the Lamb is a bonafide masochist in this AU. :D
They’re also 100% a sub, obviously
Anyone at all: Your relationship is problematic and potentially toxic
The Lamb: fuck yeah it is, it’s so hot~ OuO
Here’s just the last panel, made transparent for whatever nefarious purposes y’all might have for it:
Tumblr media
Additional exchange Narinder and the Lamb have at some point, probably after the Lamb does a fatal whoopsie while out on a mission trip or in response to things getting a little too sadistic in the bedroom, ahaha:
Tumblr media
Look, there is a very important distinction between life and death, and if you don’t understand that, then you’re probably not worthy of being the God of Death, anyway. (At least, according to Narinder, and ONLY Narinder.)
Last but not least, have these shittens:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
~Such creative naming conventions I have utilized, lololol~ :D Anyway, there's a few deets on them in the rambles down below.
The rest is all ramble, so before I get to that, I’ll just say – likes and especially reblogs are very much appreciated!!! :D If you happen to really really REALLY like my stuff, meanwhile, I do have a link in my bio to my ko-fi page, where I’m accepting commissions and donations if you’re especially generous… ÓuÒ
Now, BE FREE IF YOU AIN’T DOWN FOR READING MY GOOFY RAMBLES
First ramble is re: Baal’s question of ‘Did it really work?’, since I didn’t feel like expanding on it in the comic proper, and it’s arguably pretty vague? He doesn’t ask because he doubts Narinder or his capabilities, exactly, but because neither Baal nor Aym have ever actually seen their god at full power before (he’s still technically not at full power here, either). It’s not expressly stated how soon the brothers were brought to Narinder after his imprisonment, but whether it was early on or after a length of time for Shamura to (somewhat) recover from his attack, he must have already been weakened, since I have no doubts that there was a huge battle that accompanied the Bishops working together to trap him. So, between that fight with all four of his siblings, sharing his power with a variety of vessels over time, and being chained immobile for a thousand years, he must have been severely weakened by the time he lent the Red Crown out to the Lamb, which would have only weakened him further.
I like to think this is how the Lamb is able to defeat him if they refuse to be sacrificed, despite how it took all four Bishops working together to subdue and chain Narinder in the first place.
All that aside, the three cats have been trapped in the Afterlife for so long that Baal also wanted verbal reassurance that they are all, indeed, actually able to leave it now – something that I headcanon isn’t possible without a significant amount of power (i.e. the Red Crown’s cooperation with its bearer/vessel).
(On a semi-related note, I don’t headcanon Aym and Baal as twins. I like sweetheart big bro Baal and snarky little goth bro Aym too much to have them be that close in age.)
Ah, teeny thing: If you noticed I switched up the art style for Narinder on the second page, that was intentional. It's sort of a visual indicator that there has been a Big Change for him - that being, how much power he has after sacrificing the Lamb. As for why I changed up his arms in the grass rollin' pic, I don't really subscribe to the notion that his arms are spooky bones because they're horrifically injured (beyond chain-chafing scars, that is), but rather just because he's the Bishop of Death, so he can change how normal-to-spooky they look at will. At some point I might doodle out how I imagine his appearance to range between least to most eldritch... 🤔
Next ramble, regarding Narinder’s feelings towards the Lamb...he was initially too focused on being freed from his imprisonment to form any real attachment to them. They were a tool for his use, first and foremost, but he did notice their intense devotion towards him. It was impossible not to notice, because the Lamb was always very happy to see him, even if it was because they died during a crusade (yet again). He wasn’t originally planning to revive them once he was freed, either, because he saw no real point to it – after all, they were already dead when they first met him, just as any other mortal would be when meeting him in the Afterlife, so death has very little real consequence in his eyes. But, once the chains were off, and it really sank in that he stood to lose the most devoted follower he’s ever had, he decided…why put their soul to rest for good or leave them stuck in the Afterlife when he could just as easily revive them again? And why not reward them for their hard work, anyway? Not only would it cost him nothing by comparison, but the future devotion that could come of it would surely make up for his (bare minimum) effort in reviving them.
He wasn’t expecting to get a full dose of that devotion and a smiling face so soon after killing them, though~ :3c (because the Lamb is a bonafide freak, and not-so-secretly into the fucked up power dynamics going on here, lol)
I should mention here that I am firmly of the belief that any non-god/vessel who crosses through the Gateway and into the Afterlife just straight up dies. So, Aym and Baal? Also straight up dead, from the second Shamura brought them through. Their souls were just never put to rest so that Narinder could have some company – if only according to Shamura. Narinder kept the two around mostly out of bewilderment, because honestly, who are these kittens, and what is Shamura’s game here, anyway??? They never even explained anything, they just tossed these kittens into the Afterlife and LEFT!!! At any rate, Aym and Baal being dead is how I explain why their souls apparently become lost in the void if they’re killed, along with the added complications required to revive the two because of it.
So, with those deets in mind, and given a bit of time, if Narinder hadn’t chosen to revive the Lamb, and also hadn’t chosen to put their soul to rest, they still would have woken up at some point, despite being as straight up dead as Aym and Baal. Who, don’t worry, were also properly revived while Narinder was waiting for the Lamb to wake up. Because I am also firmly of the belief that, first, the dead cannot leave the Afterlife without the use of a ritual/relic (and can't stay in the living world for long regardless), and second, dead followers’ devotion isn’t anywhere near as potent as that of the living, given how much more the living stand to lose.
Final ramble, regarding the Lamb’s feelings towards Narinder, and why they’re so devoted to him…
Well, you don’t spend most of your life on the run with your steadily-dwindling herd, trying to evade the ongoing genocide of your species, without becoming a little fucked up in the head. Maybe a lot fucked up in the head. Life is suffering, so might as well have fun with it, right? Maybe start finding death and pain to be kind of hilarious, even a little bit hot, once everyone you know and love is dead and gone, leaving you all alone? And maybe after that, there’s something comforting in how, despite the cold, cruel uncertainties of life, at least you can always count on the inevitability of death, patiently waiting for you until your very last breath? Who knows. Either way, as soon as the Lamb was killed, and they learned that the literal God of Death was offering them a second chance at life and vengeance via effective immortality, they were 100% ride-or-die-devoted all at once. Turns out death is kinder than life – go figure. (Of course, it helps that Narinder is 100% their type.)
They weren’t put off by Narinder’s thinly-veiled sadism or manipulations, either – they’re not too different in those regards, albeit opting for vastly different methods. It’s a very ‘two sides of the same coin’ sort of deal. In order to stay alive once they were made the last of their kind, the Lamb had no qualms with using others to their advantage, and that did not change once they were revived and expected to run a cult. They didn’t care for the position of authority, though – being a sheep and all, they’re much more of a follower than a leader, and thus greatly appreciated Narinder’s need for control. With how they had to keep on their toes for so long, the Lamb was also pretty good at reading people by the time they died, so they could recognize that a lot of Narinder’s posturing was just that – posturing. Dude’s 95% bluster and only 5% bite. He could obviously be vicious when he wanted or needed to (the Bishops' injuries were clear proof of that), but underneath his outer layer of cruelty was a generous layer of tsundere, and underneath all THAT was a soft squishy middle sibling velcro cat in desperate need of attention and affection.
(Which, for the record, he Did Not feel comfortable getting from Aym and Baal – Narinder still has no idea why the fuck Shamura sent them to him, beyond acting as keepers at best or trying to sabotage his attempts to escape at worst. Which, he thought HE sabotaged in turn, by guiding the kittens into being his devoted disciples instead. He thought he was very clever for it. ‘I outsmarted Shamura!’ he thought, despite that there was never anything there to outsmart. ‘What do you mean, Shamura sent your kittens to me for company?’ he demands of Forneus later. It may or may not lead him to pull Shamura out of Purgatory just so he can shake them and scream about how they should have Fucking Explained that!!!)
But, getting back on track as to why the Lamb was so willing to be sacrificed, I cannot stress this enough – if you pay even a minimal amount of attention to what he’s saying, Narinder is REALLY NOT SUBTLE about his intentions. ‘Death is of little consequence.’ ‘Followers are for you to use to your advantage.’ ‘Sacrifice a follower to absorb more power.’ So, yeah, the Lamb knew exactly what would be expected of them once the other Bishops were dead. They knew Narinder would expect them to die for him one last time. But, after all, death is of little consequence (not to mention hot), so when the time came, they wanted to see him freed, even if it meant oblivion for them in the end.
He’d given them a second life, and the ability to avenge their kin, and they felt indebted to him for that – so, while they were still pretty glum about the possibility that they might not get to see him free of his chains, nothing beyond their devotion and debt to him mattered. They never wanted all the drama and expectations that came with the Red Crown’s power, anyway, so, better for Narinder to have it back so that he could deal with it. What he did with the Lamb afterward would be up to him, and seeing as he was their god, they’d accept his decision gladly.
Were they in love with him by that point? Oh, obsessively so, but only in the devotional sense – romance was nowhere on their mind nor radar. That is, until he unexpectedly revived them again, told them he still needed them, and then offered down his hand to help them up.
The Lamb fell HARD for him in that moment. :3c
And now, a tiny shitten ramble. Lu and Li are twins, because sheep tend to have those a lot, and are conceived not long after the Lamb and Narinder’s marriage ceremony. Lu is the minutes older one, but Li is much more mature. I have put no further thought into these two, other than that they are utter menaces, birthed by the Lamb, cling hard to both their parents but especially Narinder (who spoils them rotten), and they are both genderfluid, using whichever pronouns/names they feel like at any given time. They are also both intersex, same as the Lamb, who was initially infertile up until Something Something Vague Magic, which I have also put no further thought into ¯\_(シ)_/¯
oh, and before anyone tries to suggest i headcanon this AU’s lamb as trending more female due to them giving birth or whatever, no, no, a thousand times no, they might have a vag, but they've also got a dick, and even if it's not as big as they'd like, they still know how to use it
Finally, the very tentative name for the Lamb in this AU is Yazdi, which is really just another name for the Baluchi breed of sheep XD (Not that the Lamb is this specific breed, I just didn’t like any of the other sheep-related names I found, ahaha...)
THAT’S ALL FOR NOW (collapses into an exhausted pile of goopy limbs)

Re-Verse Alya and Nino / Ubiquity and Newsflash
I never really talked much about Alya and Nino's roles in my Re-Verse AU. The two of them are a duo of junior reporters. Alya is sort of like an April O'Neil character, while Nino is her cowardly bumbling assistant holding the camera. Alya dives head-first into dangerous situations to get a good scoop, while Nino is terrified of tresspassing lmao. The two of them were investigating the Supreme and met Betterfly/Hesperia during their investigation. The three of them formed the Resistence alongside Max, their tech guy.
Aside from serving as a multiverse portal, I gave Ubiquity more additional powers to make her more versatile, while still keeping her general concept in mind. She can duplicate herself, but can only control one copy at a time. Her cape can serve as a gateway to any other copy of her. During large-scale battles, she would place a bunch of Ubiquities around the city so the heroes can move around faster.
Nino's Kamiko form is called Newsflash! His power is derived from his wish to "reveal the truth". He can produce a camera flash that nullifies illusions and reveals weakpoints. It also generally stuns the enemy because it's, you know, a bright fucking light. He also has drones that serve as additional mobile "eyes". He can make as much of them as he wants and send them anywhere in the city. They're also able to deploy the flash.
Full Re-verse cast below!

Finally caught up on TROD and was scrolling back through your TROD art and it hit me. Did Narinder kill Lambert in the gateway and then immediately regret it? Did he give them his heart and therefore split the crown to keep them from being erased somehow? Is that why neither of them can remember? Obviously that's spoilers lmao but like, some things in the last couple chapters got me thinking and I wanted to share my theories
I say 'no spoilers' but its very obvious from the art and fic that Narinder, did in fact, tear his own heart out. Why he had to do it, (Chose to do it) however, is something I cannot drop yet but I will say it's been foreshadowed in the fic for the reveal, including what happened with the memories and Lambert's own heart and where the crown comes in; ie who exactly won the final battle.
I do have spoilerly art comics I haven't posted yet that I made on stream the last couple months that I didn't really plan on posting until we reached those points in the writtten story, but I think I might start posting them soon. I am feasting on theories though I am loving the theories

AITA for nuking Moscow?
This past Friday, I (M, ̶̨̡̢̧̨̘̫̫̻͙̣͕̺̟̽̃̀͋́̚̚͜ ̷̡̭̜̩͕̠̦̗̟̟̫̖͇͎̽̌̾̿̌̈́̓̄̏̌̇̚͜͜ ) was at home when the President of the United States (M, >35) deployed a nuclear bomby-wom with the intent to destroy me. I redirected the nuke for my own self preservation, and in the process, pushed it through a dimensional gateway into Moscow, obliterating it in the process. AITA?

I told myself I wasn’t gonna post about minecraft smps on tumblr but I can’t help myself, I’m thinking the initial craze around dsmp has died down enough that I can post about it without being judged to harshly lol.
Minecraft smps are one of my top interests so I’d love to post more art about them! (my top favorites are Smplive, dsmp, and newest addition: qmsp)
Here’s my techno design (and some other stuff), not super original by any means, I just wanted to draw a big pig.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also because some people get confused: like 99% of the time I am drawing/talking about dsmp it’s about the characters not the streamers/actors!
I don’t think I can post dsmp without taking about it a bit. initially I wrote like a whole ass essay on my opinions on the unfortunate circumstances of the dsmp but i threw that away because no one wants to read all that lol here’s my attempt at a tldr for said essay for your viewing (dis)pleasure!
Dsmp was a mess, not just because of the audience but also because of the way certain creators went about interacting with said audience. A majority of the audience was younger kids, and for a lot of them I’m assuming dsmp was kind of a gateway into fandom (and twitch) culture. Because of this there was some weird behaviours and shit that cropped up and unfortunately certain creators chose to encourage these behaviours instead of shutting it down, which really shouldn’t have been happening, especially considering once again, the majority of this audience was younger kids who don’t really know any better. And to top all of this off the dsmp was being streamed live on twitch, where viewers were able to use chat and donation messages to talk directly to these creators, this unfortunately lead to lots of unhealthy relationships forming from these kids thinking the creators were their friends in a way.
So we kind of ended up with the awful combination of a load of kids, stuck in quarantine, watching and directly interacting with these creators, and being encouraged to behave in questionable ways by some of these creators.
In no way at all do I think dsmp is the worst fandom to exist (or even close to it really) I just think there was a lot of unfortunate circumstance and situations that (because of a large audience) ended up being amplified to an even larger audience.
Now I am going to physically walk away from my keyboard because I could genuinely talk for hours about minecraft smps and I need to stfu lmao, if you happened to actually read all this shit here’s a special message for you: hiiii!!!! :3
Also also if you read all this and are interested in talking about it, fukcing comment!! I would unironically love to talk about minecraft smps to anyone at all lmao

During an Argument (HC)
Tumblr media
BTS during an argument 🥲
இ Warnings!! - mentions of alcohol, angst (?), Tae’s is kinda short sorryyyy, emotional stuff lmao, not sure what else to put but Jk’s kinda made me sad
இ A/n!! - Hello!!! This is my first one of these so go easy. Lmk other headcannons I should do, or even send in some prompts for your bias and I’ll write a short one-shot :3. Enjoy~!!!<3
Tumblr media
🍡Seokjin🍡
- the type to raise his voice without realizing, I know this struggle all too well since I do the same exact thing
- He is very passionate about the things he believes in, even if it’s a small issue
- He puts aside his pride most of the time with trivial things, but with more serious obstacles in life, he draws a line
- And those lines/boundaries are not to be messed with.
- He will get heated in the moment, but will eventually calm down later and feel really guilty, without completely blaming himself or the other person since he understands everyone has bad days(!!)
- In the same way that he has boundaries, he will make sure to respect the other person he’s arguing with’s boundaries as well.
- Like he knows better than to being up petty off-topic things, and would never deliberately put someone else down in an argument
- He is a little arrogant at times though, and can get lost in his own truth
- But when he cools down and steps away, he thinks with clear emotions, and will not feel ashamed to be the first one to apologize/want to work things out
🥃Yoongi🥃
- never raises his voice, especially with women
- He has a good grip on his anger and emotions, so he’s able to be mature during arguments, which also ultimately makes him really intimidating
- Wins most arguments based off of aura alone lol
- If things do get heated, he’ll leave before he can say anything he’ll regret—because we’re all human, and it happens.
- Goes for a walk or drive, and thinks about things, before going back and trying to fix anything.
- He only does that with people he loves though, if he’s arguing with someone that doesn’t have an important role in his life, he’s quick to drop them lol
- Depending on the argument of course, but he isn’t one to ignore red flags
- Is an active listener, and will genuinely try to hear the other person’s point of view on the argument
- But he does strike me as the type to keep small things that bother him to himself, ultimately creating resentment and other arguments later
- But he’s aware of it and tries not to🥸
- If things get real bad, he’ll start drinking, but never around the person he’s arguing with. He doesn’t wanna be like that around someone he’s upset with, because he knows that things can get carried away quickly when you as alcohol into the mix
- Overall responsive, mature, but cold.
- Takes responsibility and will apologize if need be without any complaints bc he knows when he’s wrong.
☀️Hobi☀️
- scary scary scary
- Idky, but I’ve always seen Hoseok as the type to be passive aggressive
- Like you’ll know before you fight with him bc there will be little hints that he’s angry a few hours before
- He’s very quiet, but that’s probably what makes him even scarier
- He’s firm and dominant with his beliefs, but is also willing to look at things from opposite point of views later on
- Like in the shower the next day or smth lol
- In all reality, he’s cold and guarded during arguments as a defense mechanism, but is a mess on the inside
- Doesn’t like the feeling of being mad at someone he cares about, or vice versa.
- So, he will almost always be the first to apologize, or come to talk about things
- He’s also shameless during argument, as in he will say some harsh things, but will also be apologizing in the same ferocity later
- Strikes me as the type to go out and buy something, or do something for the other person, as a kind of gateway into talking things out
- Not like bribing them out of being angry with him, but to reset and show surrender almost
- Doesn’t like arguing with anyone, so arguments don’t happen often
- But that’s what makes them even scarier when they happen
- Will ultimately feel bad if he scares anyone though, since he relishes in the feeling of making people laugh and feel hope, he hates making those he cares for feel the polar opposite.
- A sweet baby not too long after fights happen, and won’t stay mad for more than a few hours depending on the argument
✒️Namjoon🖋️
- level headed, mature, and brutally honest
- Oh god I think fighting with this man would destroy me the most personally😊
- He is not afraid to call people out on their bs, no matter who tf it is
- Except his parents bc he doesn’t wanna die
- He is cool, calm, and collected, all things he is usually, but during fights it’s just scary
- He’ll speak with an even tone, but be seething on the inside.
- But he is also respectful and considerate, so depending on the argument, he won’t be purposefully mean
- Especially if it’s someone he loves deeply and is close to. Then, he’ll find himself selecting his words very carefully not matter how angry he is
- Is definitely the type to need space for a few days at least, even if he forgives the person
- If it’s simple miscommunication, he’s fine in a few hours. But if it’s anything big that gives off red flags, he’ll disappear for a few days haha
- It’s projection hours ig
- Will talk to his mom about it maybe, just so he can get her opinions
- Will also possibly talk to one of his members, because he knows that they know what’s best for him as well
- Isn’t one to hold grudges although, and wants to fix things right away if possible
- Doesn’t yell much, but his tone does get very firm and intimidating, we’ve all heard it ami
🪞Jimin🪞
- omg sassy lil bitch (affectionately)
- Petty, but not overly to the point of no return
- Strikes me as the type of person to tell his friends closest to him about the argument just to get advice, kinda like Joon, but with literally anyone he talks to regularly lol
- An EYE ROLLER I CAN FEEL IT YALL
- Accidental manipulator🥹
- May or may not relate to this HEHEHE
- Like he doesn’t realize it sometimes, but he will for sure guilt trip sometimes
- Jimin is definitely the most messy fighter out of them, and will not hesitate to cut ties
- That being said, he’s also the one who’d do the most to redeem himself if he was in the wrong
- He will apologize in person, through letter, through gifts, quality time, food, money, he’ll do anything just don’t hate him :(
- But if ur not anyone too important to him, he’s fine he’ll just— 👻👻👻
- Has a particular annoyance with people who can’t take arguments seriously. Like he wants to fight, scream, and cry if it’s serious enough, just so he can get it out now, but if the other person shows they don’t care as much as him, it’ll piss him off even more
- But then he’ll do the same thing and act like he doesn’t care for days🥲
🍁Taehyung🍁
- the type to talk to himself when things get really deep😭😭😭
- I’m talking like little whispers of “you’ve gotta be kidding me,” or “are they serious right now??”
- Also a disappearing act like Joon, but maybe for even longer🙄
- Tata don’t take shit from people anymore. We already know he’s had his share of toxic friends, so he might resort to petty arguments at times
- Is also emotional, so can say a lot of things he doesn’t mean
- He’s also a guilty conscience like Hobi, and will most likely be the first to apologize depending on where he stands in the argument
- The type to cry—whether it be from sadness, anger, or just pure frustration, he will have tears in his eyes
- Also strikes me as an eye roller and pacer🥲
- Tata feels like the type to care way too much, or not at all, and most of the time it’s the latter
- So most arguments with him end up being one sided at some point bc he’ll just stop giving a fuck😭
- Jimin and him fight the most, but are also coincidentally the most sappy when they make up
🎤Jungkook🎤
- this one is surprisingly hard to write because I really don’t see Koo getting into too many arguments
- He’s a very go-with-the-flow kinda guy, so he doesn’t find himself in those situations too often
- But when he does, he goes very quiet, and almost seems like he’s not listening
- But he is, and maybe a little too much, because he’s only quiet so his brain can race around with negative thoughts
- I think he can get annoyed pretty fast with certain things, and can have an attitude in certain situations though
- But I can see him being better now, since he’s older and more mature
- Like Yoongi, a drinker, but not around the person he’s in an argument with
- He also might just be a journal-venter!!!
- Idk, maybe in his phone notes, or he just vents to his friends through text, but either way, he’s gonna vent his feelings through writing.
- Can’t stay mad for more than a day if it’s someone he really cares about :(
- Like if it’s any of the bts members or his parents/brother, he’s already over it before the argument even ends
- Which is why he can look like a push over sometimes when he gives into the other person too quickly, but in all reality he just doesn’t care anymore and wants to stop fighting
- Gives the same vibes as that one video like, “I suddenly just remembered…I don’t gaf…”
- One of those people who is very dramatic emotionally :,)
- We all know the rain incident with chim 😭💔
Tumblr media
DISCLAIMER!! I do not know any of the bts members in real life so these are all interpretations and written purely for entertainment purposes.

Do u think Sonic has nightmares of the SA2 ending? do u think the s2 of Prime fall reinforced this fear or gave him some closure? the anxiety of shadow falling and Sonic not being there to catch him lingers? maybe that's why Sonic is very touch affectionative towards Shadow
It fuels my angst loving heart lmao.
That scene single handedly DESTROYED me. Along with all the fics and fanart that came right after it when that ep of S2 came out hsjshshshs. The parallels are so fuggin tragic, especially from Sonic pov.
This was someone he had met in little under 48 hours, or however long the span of SA2 was lol. He's someone who challenged him, someone who, sure, wasn't entirely a mobian hedgehog--but one nonetheless, a super powered one at that. Who went from threating to destroy the world for hurting him beyond Sonic's comprehension to defending it till his final breath beside him.
Sonic's return to the ark without him will never NOT bring me to tears (yes I'm a big baby sue me lmao), he's still holding his inhibitor ring like its the most precious thing in the now saved world.
His goodbye to him; his closure--his understanding that, that was it. Shadow was gone. I don't remember the time from SA2 until Hero's but it was sure to be a long damn time, only for Shadow to just, be alive. MAN IT HURTS LIKE SH-- (I have a headcanon Sonic got to keep the inhibitor ring when Rouge gives it him later, and he wore it under his glove cuff all this time.) You cannot tell me Shadow didn't have a major impact on Sonic's life come onnnnn. I completely agree with the nightmares headcanon btw, like you take a hero with a savior complex and give them a situation where they FAILED to save someone they love and your in for an ANGST FIELD DAY.
Prime Sonic is a lil different from the Sonic's we've been introduced too in the past. (No this is NOT a complaint I love him sm, all Sonic's are amazing to me that is a fact.) He's probably the most physically affectionate one outta all of them. We see him describe his relationship with Shadow as "complicated" lmao, and for anyone new to the Sonic Series watching it, they're basically just introduced as rivals that are so fucking BAD at communicating. But you can tell he cares about his friends, and he really cares about Shadow.
This is evident in his PANIC ATTACK, when Shadow gets knocked out while trying to enter one of the gateways and ends up almost falling into the void. And this is right after they were just at each others necks, fighting for the tech.
There is NO POSSIBLE WAY it's not supposed to be a parallel to SA2, and if this Sonic also went through the "Shadow fucking dies and loses his memories TM" there is also ZERO WAY he didn't get flashbacks while reaching out to save the only piece of home he had, but Shadow's more than that. He grounds Sonic throughout Prime, he keeps him focused, he CARES about him too. Even if he has trouble showing it.
When it was Shadow's turn to save Sonic when he was fading away. Like, I WAS DECEASED, I WAS SOBBING--- ahem, I was carefully analyzing the moment where we got to see Shadow return the favor. Where he was mere MOMENTS away from losing him. He was in Sonic's place, back in space near the Space Colony Ark. Holding the most precious part of his home. His friend. (HIS BOYFR-- *gets shot*)
I like to think they both get more affectionate and open with each other, it just works so naturally well in Prime because of everything they've been through. And how the show, shows their friendship develop over time, even when Shadow gets benched for the majority of it hjhghj. He lets Sonic in, he makes the effort to hear him out, they LEARN TO COMMUNICATE.
Sonic wants to be near Shadow, Shadow in turn lets him, lets him be affectionate. Because they both really DO realize how much they care and need/want each other in their lives. They make me ill.

ima need you to lore dump about your heritic au becaus i wAS LITTERALLY JUST THINKING ABOUT SOMETHING LIKE THAT PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
:3
The premise of the Heretic Leshy au is that instead of my normal lamb being the last one alive -> bearer of the red crown, it's Anoana, who is. Who is a 5 year old.
And one thing about my Leshy, is that he LOVES kids. So much. It's a little bit ridiculous and this whole au proves it.
Base premise is that after sacrificing the last lamb- which he was already pretty against in the first place seeing as she was 5- the bishops instruct Leshy to go bury the body
(Kinda like a- "you were being so annoying about not killing her, so now you gotta bury her, we're in darkwood anyway it's fine)
So. So. The 5 year old wakes up in his arms while he's in the graveyard. He nearly drops her. You know how it is.
Leshy can't bring himself to kill a child, even if that child is now wearing the red crown and a harbinger of a prophecy that will destroy his family. So he holds her close and takes her back to his temple. And he cries to his disciples about what the hell he's supposed to do.
If he let's her go, just releases her into the wild, she's going to have a very bad time because a 5 year old can't survive on their own, and even with the red crown she will still be traumatized as hell. He doesn't WANT that. He wants the child to be HAPPY. Because he loves them and thinks all children deserve to be happy. For the record he is correct.
Basically- Leshy keeps the lamb, hides her, and at one point gives up his crown to break his shackle on Narinder, but has to just keep pretending he's the god of chaos. Leshy discovers he can call on the crowns even without being the bearer of them- which yeah btw every time we defeat a bishop in this story Ana picks up their crown and the crowns IMMEDIATELY decide they wanna protect her. At the end of this story Ana has 5 crowns and like 12 parental figures.
Leshy is not the vessel of the red crown, but he is the one doing it's bidding. Heket is killed by accident in secret, Kallamar manages to send warning Shamuras' way before he dies, and Shamura is so so so angry. It's also worth noting that there's no Narinder fight, he just gives up his crown (he is NOT going to ask the 5 year old to be sacrificed for him, not when their parent who clawed their way out of heaven and into the gateway is sitting RIGHT THERE)
It's really fun, there's technically more to it but that's the basics :]
Take some doodle page for reading this much lmao
Tumblr media
Fellas, does it make you a heretic by not wanting to kill a baby? No, but it does when you start killing your siblings about it

omfg i just accidently deleted an ask abt percy being suicidal when i was trying to respond WTF bruh im so sorry but this is for you i hope you see this it was anon sorry pookie
the q was simply “is percy suicidal?” and asking for context
ok so basically no one has every come out and said “percy is suicidal” rick has never said this through what i know HOWEVER
it is smth that is deeply written into the text of the series not that he’s actively grabbing a knife or smth but that he is VERY prone to this line of thinking
many ppl point to the beginning of pjo when percy would pretty often talk abt dying and wanting to die or allowing himself to drown or just dark humor in that way; when i first started reading it was smth i never really noticed as anything other then a dramatic tween but once you get to hoo (along with looking at the amount of insecurity and low self esteem percy has in pjo) it kinda hits a limit
in hoo there’s an entire scene where after getting out of tartarus he’s fighting some bitch i forget who (polybotes) and gives up not trying to protect himself when he was literally in his element and later admits to jason that he thought he deserved to choke on poison
and DIE like it’s not like he’s saying “meh yeah i thought i’d give up and give them a chance 💯💯” like he is fully aware that stopping would kill him and he was going to allow that to happen
you could also pair this with percy almost drowning both himself and annabeth in tartarus with this; after they land in cocytus (river of depression literally) annabeth (though extremely distressed) has a pretty decent time swimming and staying alive in the water after the initial shock however percy almost fully gives up pulling them under and is much harder to break out of the “spell” (the voices)
a lot of this can be chalked up to traumatic events being tired or scared or all three but an easy gateway to suicidal ideations can stem from those things and percy’s been dealing with all of those the majority of his life
so yes and no if you want to say percy isn’t be my guest ? but this aspect of his life is such an interesting thing to pull apart because his reactions to the things he’s had to live through is one that’s extremely human and i feel like really breaths life into the sort of “reality” these characters live (if that makes sense lmao)
i feel like that last para sounded rude im not trying to be but idk how else to word that LMAO
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and here’s the quotes (i recommend rereading pjo for the early stuff bc i’m not picking that apart but if someone else wants to they can)
if there’s anything else lmk and i won’t delete it next time i swear :(

"I AM" state methods
These are different methods to enter the void state (Also what personally worked for me.)
Recording your own affirmations USING YOUR OWN VOICE and listening to them while you sleep- 100/10, This is one of the first methods I used to tap into the void state. I also used this method for just manifesting in general. The first tie I ever used this, while I was dreaming I could hear my voice in my dream (which also caused me to be lucid.) So you could also use this for lucid dreaming, tapping into the void state, or just manifesting in general.
Lucid dreaming- 9/10, I lucid dream very easily just by setting the intention of becoming aware in a dream (also known as the mild method.) When I become lucid, to enter the void I either: Ask a dream character to take me into the void, fall backwards, or (trigger warning?) k1ll myself LMAO
Gateway tapes- 8/10, Astral projected with this lol, but they really are relaxing and for me I found it easier to follow than most guided meditation. But do your research because some people say that it's dangerous???
Subliminals- 6/10, these work better for me when I'm meditating, but I found that sleeping with subliminal really don't do much for me. I'd rather listen to affirmation tapes on yt or record my own. But listening to ones with specific frequencies do put me in a better mindset, specifically self concept ones. One subliminal that actually 100% worked the first time I ever tried was the Aurasubliminal void state sub. I was just meditating while listening to my subliminal playlist and I was low-key not even thinking about entering the void state. All of a sudden I realized that I was feeling too peaceful and like everything was quiet, I didn't even know it was the void but like I feeling sooo peaceful like the void is one of the most peaceful sates of being ever.
Guided meditations- 2/10, there's a lot of them for the void, specifically yoga Nidra, alpha state, etc. These never really did it for me personally, but that doesn't mean that they don't work. Excluding gateway tapes, the voice in all of them just really irritate me and I feel like I have to force myself to relax.
(MIND AWAKE BODY SLEEP- -0/10, I physically cannot force myself not to move. Like that's just not relaxing for me and then constantly repeating affirmations in my head at the same time is just.. tiring. This was one of the first void methods I ever tried and I personally find it to be like a chore.
My advice: you can try out a few, but tr being consistent with one method alone. Like when I used to be obsessed with the void, I was trying out every method that I came across. But I decided to choose one that I resonated with the most, (or the easiest LMAO), which was lucid dreaming. Be consistent and don't constantly change your mind. Just because a method didn't work out for you doesn't mean that you're doomed/unlucky and will never get into the void state. :))

Dannymay Day 1: Insects
I was thinking about bees and beekeepers and how the beekeepers don't do a whole lot directly with the bees, and for the most part the bees have a lot of freedom, but the beekeeper will step in when needed and how much that felt like Clockwork. He's always watching the timeline and therefore Danny and no matter how much humans think they have the freedom of choice, Clockwork can step in at any time to fix the timeline or nudge it in the direction he wants.
Flower talk:
I just googled death flowers so here's the quick breakdown for each flower to character:
Jazz got lilies. "White lilies, with their striking petal arrangement and captivating fragrance, have long been linked to concepts of innocence, purity, and rebirth. Across various cultures, white lilies symbolize the restoration of the soul to a tranquil state of innocence." (x) I was just thinking about how Jazz babies her brother and it takes time for her to see Danny as growing up. So in a really convoluted way she sees his innocence, perhaps more than what exists for Danny with secret ghost fighting and all.
Tucker got carnations. "Carnations serve as a heartfelt expression of love towards both living family members and those who have passed away, honoring their memory and an everlasting bond." (x) Which just felt a lot like Tucker and how much he loves his friends.
Sam got red poppies. "The red poppy holds significant commemorative value as a flower dedicated to honoring veterans." (x) Which made me think of Phantom Planet and how attached Sam was to the idea of fighting for good and Danny taking up that fight. So I was thinking along the lines of Sam and Danny's vigilantism.
Maddie and Jack got cowslip. "Cowslip flowers, also known as the “key of heaven,” hold symbolic significance related to both birth and death. In Ireland and Wales, cowslips are revered as fairy flowers, believed to possess the power to open the gateway to the enchanting realm of fairies." (x) I MEAN?!?!?! GATEWAY?????? GHOST PORTAL?!?!?!?! yeah lmao. Also their constant search and understanding for the "afterlife".
Danny got hyacinths. "Ancient Greece believed that Hyacinths were representative of bad luck, and sometimes represented bad omens, depending on when they were used and under what circumstances. They also believed the flowers could represent death due to the legacy stories told about the flower’s origins and meaning." (x) I mean.... lmao what's worse luck than tripping, electrocuting yourself, and being forced in a half life, dealing with unpredictable powers, keeping on top of school work, and fighting to keep your half life?

Just pure headcanons, what do you think happened during Maglor's reign as a king? I don't know if his reign was short or something but I remember it took some time before Fingon was able to save Maedhros and unite the noldor and there was still some division between the host of nolofinweans and feanorians. I wonder if he considered himself a placeholder until Maedhros returned or was he a reluctant king? Did the host respect him as a king, did his own brothers respect him as a king? I am so intrigued because, aside from Maedhros, I think Maglor deserved some shoutout lmao (No, this isn't a maglor-obsession-spree that I have been on, nu uh). Also, I feel like he would have some cordial relationship with Fingolfin, they could bond as the second sons having to take leadership because the eldest died/was abducted idk.
Oh no, starlitelwing. I hope you know the Pandora's Box you've just opened. King Maglor is one of my all-time favourite things to think about.
First of all: there's actually no canonical information on Maglor's position after the capture of Maedhros (in fact, we don't even know what Maedhros' title/position was after Feanor's death; all we know is that Feanor "claimed now the kingship of all the Noldor" in Tirion. Contested leadership is SO GOOD isn't it? anyway...).
The published Silmarillion glosses right over the question of who's in charge during the time between Feanor's death and Fingolfin's official assumption of the Kingship of the Noldor (which, if you ask me, Fingolfin effectively had been King since the time of Feanor's exile, and he was in any case Regent at the time of Finwe's death... he said he'd follow Feanor but the people following him were calling him Finwe Nolofinwe soooo... aiee, I digress again). The book gallops at such a breakneck speed that you don't really notice the gap in leadership. Or, I didn't.
But then you look at the Grey Annals (where Tolkien Gateway gets most of its First Age dates) and you see that there are 2-3 Tree Years and 5 Sun Years between Maedhros' capture and his rescue. Now, however you imagine time works in Tree Years when there are no Trees, that's still a long time. Maedhros was gone at a minimum 6-7 years, more likely closer to the equivalent of 30 "regular" years. (That's way longer, by the way, than the time between Feanor's death and Maedhros' capture, which was like, a day to a month, at most. Maedhros, if he even was King, was King for way less time than whoever followed him. And he sucked at the job, btw. But I digress. Again.)
So someone had to be in charge for those 6 to 30 years, but whomst? That the leadership would pass after Feanor's death to the eldest son is logical, and that it would then pass to the next eldest is also logical. I see no reason to refute that, but note: it would not be uncanonical to have someone other than Maedhros or Maglor in charge at this time. You can make King Celegorm a thing and still be canon-compliant!
This passage in the published Silm is basically the extent of the activities of the sons of Feanor during Maedhros' absence:
Then the brothers of Maedhros drew back, and fortified a great camp in Hithlum; but Morgoth held Maedhros as hostage, and sent word that he would not release him unless the Noldor would forsake their war, returning into the West, or else departing far from Beleriand into the South of the world. But the sons of Feanor knew that Morgoth would betray them, and would not release Maedhros, whatsoever they might do; and they were constrained also by their oath, and might not for any cause forsake the war against their Enemy.
The sense here is that all six sons acted as a unit. But in the 1937 Quenta Silmarillion, the text on which this passage is drawn:
Morgoth held [Maedhros] as hostage and sent word to Maglor that he would only release his brother if …
To Maglor! Excellent evidence that Tolkien was also making the logical conclusion that Maglor, the eldest, was in charge. (My best theory for why Christopher Tolkien took that out is Too Many Names, but it's an odd decision.)
All that was to say: We don't know, canonically, that Maglor was in charge at Mithrim. But it makes a lot of sense, and it's my headcanon that he was.
Now. More interesting headcanons.
I don't think Maglor was called King until it was politically necessary.
I see him as someone who is comfortable in command (one meaning of Cano is "commander", after all) but who likes to command collaboratively. Double-edged sword: he values the input of others (admirable quality) and he does not like being fully responsible for the outcomes of a decision (less admirable).
Unlike much fanon I've come across, I don't think Maglor was a particularly reluctant or incompetent leader or that he hated it. He was miserable, yes, because his father just died and his brother was just captured, and he wasn't thrilled to become a leader on top of that, but he keeps it together.
So how do I imagine it all went down?
The problem with Maglor being in command is that his "collaborative" style of leadership is not appropriate for a time of crisis or for his family. While the Silm often talks about "the sons of a Feanor" as a unit, I do not think they were of the same mind on everything. At all. They need a firm hand, and Maglor does not have that.
But who does have a firm hand? Who would be a more martial ruler, someone who could get people in order during a crisis? Celegorm. And he knows it.
So why did the Feanorians "get nothing done" during those 6-30 years (sidenote: I don't actually think they got nothing done, but it does seem they didn't get anything BIG done)? Well, for one, they were fighting amongst themselves.
Maglor could not get his brothers to agree on anything, and yet he did not know any other way of commanding, and over time he becomes more and more miserable as a leader.
Celegorm, meanwhile, is chomping at the bit to "relieve him" of the burden.
Around them, everyone else is picking sides.
Curufin is an interesting case. I headcanon he actually was fully behind Maglor at the beginning, because he respects the orderliness of succession. But as Maglor proves himself unsuitable for the role, he aligns with Celegorm.
Outside the family, I headcanon that the Mithrim Elves were actually quite taken with Maglor, the poet-king. Their alliance hinges on him. But the Noldor, especially the army, would rather follow Celegorm.
As everyone knows, a rival for leadership with the army's support is Bad News. And yet Maglor manages to hold on. He should definitely get credit for that.
But why hold on? If he is hating this ruler job, why not just let Celegorm have it? Couple reasons:
It's Celegorm. He may be able to perform well, but Maglor knows he's the most like Feanor in temperament and, well, Feanor's kingship didn't end well.
If Maglor gives up that crown, he will have admitted to himself that Maedhros is not coming back. This is the same reason he doesn't give it over to Fingolfin when Uncle Nolvo shows up. He is hanging onto that thing for dear life because, to him, it belongs to Maedhros and only Maedhros. He is the crown's custodian, never its rightful owner (this bleeds into my headcanon that Maglor does not "in his heart" agree with Maedhros' decision to cede the kingship — he'll never be as vocal about it as the others, though).
Now we come to another piece. What did Maglor call himself? Like I said up top, I don't think he initially called himself King. He was "head of his House", or maybe, "Lord of Hithlum," or maybe King Regent, but never King. If one of the Mithrim got mixed up and called him that, he would always correct them.
That changes when Fingolfin shows up. Now there's another claimant to the title of King. Possibly a more legitimate one than even Maedhros (as Maedhros later says himself).
By that time, Maglor has been keeping that crown out of Celegorm's hands for years; he is not giving it up now. And Fingolfin is less likely to challenge his leadership if he offers no room for ambiguity. If he dons the mantle of kingship and pretends Maedhros is dead.
So that is what he does... Does Fingolfin accept it? Well: "Then there was peril of strife between the hosts."
For three years, on opposite sides of the Lake, they're at an impasse. Fingon doesn't go looking for Maedhros because he thinks Maedhros is dead (and other reasons: the mission is insane and desperate not the least, and contrary to popular opinion Fingon is not a rash idiot).
How does Fingon eventually learn the truth? You'll have to wait and read what @melestasflight and I are cooking up for Silm Epistolary Week ;)
ETA: Despite this, I do think you're right that Maglor and Fingolfin could have bonded over their similar experiences! There's the personal and there's the political, and I love the idea of the tension between these straining what could be an emotionally supportive familial friendship between Maglor and Fingolfin.

(this is spacekrakens lmao) dude idk anything about like 1950s Japanese cinema, do you have any recommendations? looking for stuff to toss on the watchlist now that I'm a bit burned out on horror (unless you have some horror recs)
Tumblr media
Hey! If you’re curious about Japanese cinema (particularly 1950s), there’s a lot of avenues to explore! Musicals, crime, horror, historical—it all depends on what mood you’re in. (Putting this under a read more because I'm DEFINITELY going to be long posting about this!!!) Hope this is useful to you lol.
(Also noting if anybody wants to add to this list with their own recommendations feel free!!)
Tumblr media
With old school Japanese cinema, I’ll always recommend Akira Kurosawa (obviously). He’s made some of the best Japanese movies (and arguably, the best movies of all time imo) and I feel like his work is a good gateway. It’s readily available on physical media/streaming too.
Specifically ‘50s stuff; Hidden Fortress (1958) is a good adventure flick whose structure was swiped for Star Wars, Throne of Blood (1957) is Japanese Macbeth if you like Shakespeare, and if you don’t mind a longer movie Seven Samurai (1954) includes Toshiro Mifune acting like this;
Tumblr media
Gotta admit, though—my personal favorites from Kurosawa don’t come from the 1950s; Drunken Angel (1948) and Yojimbo (1961). One has a pathetic gangster as the main lead, the other is just a solid, breezy proto-action film (also has my beloved Unosuke but that's besides the point)
Some personal favorites of mine from the 1950s:
Life of a Horse Trader (1951) is a bittersweet story about a man trying to be a good single father to his son in the backdrop of Hokkaido. He tends not to be great at it. Stars Toshiro Mifune, the most famous face of Japanese cinema and for good reason!
Conflagration/Enjo (1958) is a single Buddhist acolyte’s fall into quiet insanity. Raizo Ichikawa is another amazing actor who I love! Also includes Tatsuya Nakadai who is the GOAT (in my heart).
Godzilla (1954) is AMAZING! If you liked Gozilla Minus One, it took a lot of familiar cues from this movie. It also technically counts as horror, depending on your definition.
Japanese horror from the 1950s:
Ugetsu (1951) (Not one I’ve seen personally, but it’s on Criterion)
The Beast Shall Die (1958) (American Psycho, but in Showa Japan. Tatsuya Nakadai is terrifying in this and absolutely despicable—stylish movie tho!)
Ghost of Yotsuya (1959) (Old-school Japanese ghost story. Honestly, there are so many different versions of this story on film that you can pick which version to watch and go from there—I’m partial to the 1965 version myself, because of the rubber rats and Tatsuya Nakadai playing a crazy person).
The Lady Vampire (1959) is the OG western-style vampire movie from Japan. Plays around with the mythos a lot, but hey our Dracula looks like this;

Misc movies that I think are neat or good gateway movies:
The Samurai Trilogy by Hiroshi Inagaki, which stars Toshiro Mifune as Miyamoto Musashi. Found that people otherwise uninterested in Japanese cinema really enjoyed this!
You Can Succeed, Too (1964) is one of my favorites from the ‘60s, also directed by Eizō Sugawa. A fun satire on the corporate world that's super colorful with catchy songs.
The Sword of Doom (1966) is also another favorite of mine, starring my beloved Tatsuya Nakadai as another bastard man (seriously though Ryunosuke is FASCINATING to me--). Fun gore effects and action scenes!
Kwaidan (1964) is an anthology of Japanese folk tales, labeled a horror film but in that kinda sorta old-school way. Beautifully shot by my favorite Japanese director Masaki Kobayashi (who, if you like this you should seriously check out his other work!)
