It lights a flame inside her. Because it's action, and, I think, that's one of the things that's been so frustrating for her, her whole life, is not being able to take action. And either being denied it because of the political system or because of her dynamic with her husband... in all these circumstances, just endlessly not being the person who acts. And, I think suddenly to be running through the streets for her life is, actually IS, phenomenally, at last, exhilarating.

So it's clear a lot of the "I'd even vote for Hitler" Democrats are trying to impress upon us the urgency of the situation, like "things are so dire I'd even resort to this!"
And of course one major problem with this tactic is that you're assuming we'll be like "wow, you'd overcome your obviously strong principles" but like.
You haven't established you even have those principles. You've just told us that you'd collaborate with Nazis and like, yeah, that is famously something many liberals have been okay with doing.

Armand is someone who has been has been trained (in brothels, by Marius, and by 500+ years worth of life experience) to adapt himself to what the people around him want. Throughout seasons 1-2, different people get very different versions of Armand, depending on who they are and who’s retelling the story at the time.
It’s the primary way Armand protects himself, whether he’s a teenage sex slave or the oldest, strongest person in the room. It’s how he controls people. Fundamentally, it’s the only way Armand knows to make people love him (an approximation of love at least). Worse, it’s the only way Armand knows how to love — by twisting and contorting himself into whatever form he thinks his current obsession wants or needs him to be. He even does it to his victims for crying out loud.
And then here’s Daniel, who is constantly seeking authenticity and truth. Who’s bullshit detector is never “off”. Who cannot tolerate any kind of masquerade, manipulation or lie – no matter how kind or well intentioned. Not out of any moral or ethical objection, but because Daniel simply cannot leave things well enough alone once something attracts his attention. He has to know. He has to see where it goes and how it ends.
“It’s my job, I’m built this way”
“It’s in your nature, Mr Molloy. Couldn’t get out the door without lobbing one more bomb.”
Daniel knew something was off about “Rashid” from the beginning, so he began to pick the situation in Dubai apart until Armand revealed himself. And then he kept going until he completely destroyed the narrative Armand had spent 77 years constructing.
Daniel deliberately and systematically pulled “Armand, Amadeo, Arun” apart and laid him bare with nothing but but a laptop, some free time, a near-suicidal disregard for his own personal safety and a mouth that just wouldn’t quit.
There’s power in being seen, in being known, ugly parts and all. What would it feel like, to be completely exposed like that for the first time in centuries?
So yeah it makes sense to me that Armand, who puts on all these acts and artifices to draw people in, but which only serve to ensure they’re kept at a distance, would turn his big sad orange eyes on the person who blew them all to smithereens and be all “…I wanna do this forever, actually.”

so- if gender is completely innate, unmalleable and obvious, it shouldnt need protection or maintanence. the existence of trans people could be considered temporary and unlikely to have any lasting effects on gender, so not worth making the focus of hatred or campaigning.
if gender is vulnerable to manipulation or dilution, one would have to argue that current ideas of male and female and their associated roles and stereotypes are worth protecting and preserving. this is fine if youre an open conservative, but should be incompatible with feminism, radical or otherwise.
if gender is not malleable or alterable in the long term, it becomes necessary to identify a material harm caused by people who transition. if trans women are transitioning to access the privileges of women, that necessitates claiming that women are privileged over men, enough so that it is worth abandoning the privileges of malehood, which is certainly not a viable radical feminist position. if the contention is access to lesbians, that would necessitate ignoring trans women who exclusively date other trans women or men, and setting aside that there are fewer lesbians than straight women.
the claim that trans men are harmed by undergoing hormone replacement, mastectomy or hysterectomy seems to fly in the face of the essential, inalterable gender- these surgeries could not have meaningfully changed them, if the argument is that one remains a woman no matter what. the only viable claim then is "some number of women might be tricked into having consensual hysterectomies they later regret", which seems dubious in feminist terms and surely too minor a concern for women's liberation to be chosen as its key platform.
there is no liberation for women to be found in the reinforcement of gender as an inalterable cage, or as an institution worth preserving at all costs in its current form.

i know it's because im a mean and annoying marxist but so many like world views you see on tumblr that either implicitly or explicitly place class struggle as "less important" or occasional unimportant compared to some other social injustice always reads so deeply hollow and contradictory to me.

yippie, have a sort of screenshot redraw of one of the sillies from the musicals I've been very normal about recently (again) <3
anyhow I've been thinking I might draw the rest of the lords like this (based on screenshots from the pro-shot of The Summoning), my friend voted on me drawing Blinky next so,, here's hoping I actually do that. (I mean I did this as like a shadow practice/study so it would all be useful practice at the end of the day)
Also <3 funny wip screenshot + the image referenced for this below the cut

Very small piece overshadowed by everything else but I full almost cried at Elgin's line here. Service to others and service to a cause you believe in as service to yourself. Not working for anyone else but dedicating yourself to your work and your community because you want to, because it matters to you. So fucking true. Anyway totally unrelated hc that definitely isn't me projecting I think Elgin's butch
[Image ID: A screenshot of The Silt Verses transcript. It reads
"PAIGE stares at her. She's genuinely touched.
PAIGE: Do you do anything for yourself, Elgin?
ELGIN: (Almost surprised by the question) All of this has been for me. You know that Paige, don't you?"
End ID]

Y'all know that "trans men don't suffer from significant oppression" is just the logical end point of the TERF belief that trans men transition to escape misogyny & sexism, right? Like, y'all realize how bullshit that is, right? That when you downplay and ignore and make assumptions about the experiences of trans men that you're just doing the work of transphobes who want to prove that we're "escaping" oppression to become oppressors. And surely that is not the hill you want to die on? Surely you care about trans people and have enough understanding of transphobia to know that you shouldn't take TERF talking points at face value and uncritically adopt them into your worldview, RIGHT? Surely you understand that oppression relies heavily on misrepresenting the group it's targeting and that the best way to combat that is to actually listen directly to the members of that group and get to know them as individuals, RIGHT? Surely you wouldn't shout down the throats of the trans men while they’re trying to speak on their pain and the effects of systemic oppression on their livelihood, RIGHT? RIGHT???

one thing about reading Killing Hope is that for pretty much every chapter, every single imperialist intervention, you will come to the part where the New York Times acts as the mouthpiece of capital, laundering US state department and CIA lies, covering for us/british/french/etc. colonial and imperialist ventures, pushing atrocity propaganda, demonizing anti-colonial resistance, smearing communists, rallying support for counterrevolutionaries, whitewashing imperialist-backed fascist coups, cheerleading blockades and sanctions, every fucking time, there is the precious Gray Lady wagging its finger at oppressed peoples for daring to remove the boot from their necks

genuinely how was Dakota born? Does Bacchus sometimes come to life while Dionysus is at chb and randomly go reproduce because he's not confined to Zeus' rules? Did Bacchus just think the kid into existence Athena style? Was he just really fucking drunk one time?
