Hii, I just thought I would share my opinion on all this closeting stuff. Maybe it’s not even accurate anymore because I just read a post from few days ago and I’m too lazy read all the post since that. I’m not even like a Larry fan or whatever, so it’s probably doesn’t even make sense that I’m saying something (I definitely think they had something going on when they were younger tho). Anyway, I think that people definitely don’t choose to stay closeted, but sometimes they are just not ready to open up yet. Like, like Lou said, love is only for the brave. They are both famous and when they would come out it would definitely like break the internet. Especially with what is going on now in the us. There are still so many people against the lgbt community (which is terrible btw) and I think they both just want privacy. Just imagine they would like come out and all the larries would go crazy. Also, I’m not even sure if Zara and Lou are stunt. I kinda think they look cute together. Also, English is not my first language so this might be totally weird. Next I’m just gonna point out that I love James cordon and Harry’s friendship. And personally hate kid harpoon. Hope this didn’t sound disrespectful or anything, just saying my opinion. hi, i have some thoughts and since you sent this to my inbox im gonna explain my point of view.

when i, and many other queer people, say closeting isnt a choice, what that means is that there is never a situation in which closeting is a genuine decision somebody makes for intrinsic reasons. its always external- be it for safety, or out of fear, or because of politics in someone's area, or family pressure, ect. while they may make the literal "choice" to not come out, its not a REAL choice. the illusion of choice is either stay closeted, or put yourself in a difficult and very often unsafe position.

if the world wasnt so homophobic right now, coming out wouldnt even be a thing. thered be no such thing as closeting, because a man dating a man would be seen as normal. you dont ever see people keeping their heterosexuality or cisgenderness a secret, do you? its normal, which is why they dont have to "come out" or "stay closeted," they have the luxury to simply exist as they are. until the world reaches that point for queer people, closeting will exist, and it will never be a real choice.

a choice made to keep oneself safe is a coerced decision, not one made of organic intrinsinc intent. for example: if youre being chased by a dog and you start to run, you didnt "choose to run." you were forced to, for your safety. does that all make sense?

i cant expect to change your mind on louis and zara being "cute together" because thats an issue of you not seeing whats in front of you. louis is visibly uncomfortable in every single photo with zara, i feel like thats clear as day.

i dont like james corden as a person but i dont know enough about him to comment further. i agree with you wholeheartedly on hating kid harpoon- he literally groped harry at the 2023 grammys, and far too many people have moved on from that for some reason.

Please feel free to ignore this ask if you feel it would bring any drama towards you-- that said, I am curious, why do you have a mostly negative view of protection dogs? Honestly, not sure where I stand. Idea wise, I don't really care, *however*... the amount of people with "working dogs" that I feel have absolute no idea what they have or how to safely manage their bitesport dogs is high enough, that I imagine there's just as high a percentage of people with "protection dogs", which makes me veeeery uncomfortable. I like the idea of having a dog that would genuinely be able to protect me, but at the same time, I view them the same as a weapon, and the idea of other people having one *who should have no business handling one* makes me. Eugh. I hope that makes sense.

I have a mostly negative view towards *personal* protection dogs. Not all protection dogs, just PPDs.

The reasoning is multifaceted but the largest portion is due to the fact that many people who say they want a PPD actually want a gun. They have an idea in their heads about what PPDs do and what they are capable of and that is honestly mostly fantasy and nonsense in this era. If [general] you are so concerned about being attacked that you need a dog to bite someone at a moment's notice, what you need is to take some self defense classes, get your conceal carry license, and buy yourself a suitable weapon.

Put simply, an aggressor that sees a dog at your side (esp of guardian breeds known for this sort of temperament) and still chooses to attack is prepared for the dog. Some quick work with a gun or a knife and you have just spent 5-10k on a dog's corpse and have no ability to fight back. All the training in the world does not make a dog immune to bullets or blades between the ribs. What will you do when your dog is dead and your aggressor is still coming for you?

Then you have the sticky situation of the fact that even in castle law ans stand your ground states, while it is legal for YOU to kill someone who is attacking you, your dog is not similarly protected. You may not be jailed, but a dog that bites or kills in defense of handler is susceptible to being taken and euthanized for being a dangerous dog. Once again you have just spent thousands of dollars on a corpse.

Unfortunately there are plenty of charlatans out there willing to take your money to train your dog and they may or may not do good work- though in my experience it can be difficult to find someone who actually is capable of doing good work and even harder to afford that person as they know their value is very high. But most do not warn people that they are throwing a lot of money at a problem that can be solved with less than half the amount of cash and not have to live through the experience of your would-be assailant killing your dog in front of you.

Lastly, it is a largely unregulated industry, so there is no standardization of training, no safety precautions, and no consequences when something inevidibly goes wrong. There are no certifications to prove quality. There is very little recourse for those who are harmed by the practice of bad actors. Anyone can claim they know what they're doing and while that is a repeating problem with all dog training- because it's not regulated at all in this country- there is a significant difference in danger of someone who's bad at training teaching a dog how to sit vs someone who's bad at training teaching a dog how to attack people.

4. What part of this piece was the most difficult to draw?

It's exactly what you might expect: Frodo's left arm (the one holding the phone) in the last panel definitely gave me some trouble. I was trying to find a pose that both a) looked natural and b) made Frodo's tattoo visible; you can actually see how many lines I drew and erased in the zoomed-in picture in this reblog.

I also had to try multiple different positions and designs for the tattoo before I found one that I liked. In a few early attempts, the tattoo actually went down the length of his arm! But in the end, I'm glad I kept it contained to the wrist.

6. What is your favorite part of this piece?

Oh man, it's so hard to pick! I love all of the modern designs, and I think most of the drawings turned out really well. (Pippin looks a bit wonky, but that's just because I'm not used to drawing people who are upside down.) In the end, I think my favorite part is just the slew of "Benadryl Cabbagepatch" names. That was a HYSTERICAL day on the Fig Tree Server, and I love seeing everyone's creativity and crazy senses of humor coming together like this! X-D

Design Choices

All four of the main hobbits (Frodo, Sam, Merry, Pippin) have a bracelet with a Single Bead, indicating they are part of the Core Friend Group

Merry wears dog tags and a watch. I imagine he has served in the military in some capacity, or aspires to do so; and the watch is there because he's the kind of detail-oriented person who's very concerned with being on time.

Sam and Rosie have matching bracelets: his is the sun, and hers is the moon. (Someone pointed out that the little thing hanging off her phone also looks like a sun. This is correct, but the bracelets were supposed to be the matching set.)

Rosie is also the only one of the gang to have a decorative phone case and a PopSocket.

Aragorn's mug says "GONDOR U", and the icon on his laptop is the shards of Narsil. It's kinda hard to see, but he also has a ring on his left hand, indicating that he's either engaged or married to Arwen.

Frodo gets the most Easter eggs. He too has a watch, because he's the sort to at least TRY to be on time; he has the tattoo, reading "worth f;ghting for", as aforementioned; and his shirt is a polo from the company Hang Ten, as indicated by the little feet embroidered on the lapel! I chose that one for two reasons: number one, little feet is Very Hobbity, and number two, they're my dad's favorite brand of polo. (He likes the little feet.)

PHONE DETAILS. Merry, Pippin, and Legolas are the only ones to have Extremely Fancy New Phones with three cameras on the back, because they are rich kids who can afford to have that sort of thing. Gimli is also rich, but his phone only has two cameras because he's not an Instagrammer. Sam and Rosie only have two-camera phones because theirs are cheaper older models. Everyone has phone cases except for Legolas. Gimli's phone case is a Particularly Chunky Heavy-Duty OtterBox. Aragorn is the only one with a laptop because he's Old. And, as aforementioned, Rosie is the only one who has a PopSocket.

Initial Conversation

I did actually plan the chat in the first panel very carefully! If you look at the time stamps beside the messages, you can see how the conversation picks up speed. It starts with Frodo declining some kind of an activity that night, saying he's busy with something else. Pippin responds, asking what he's doing. Frodo replies and sends photographic evidence, calling Bilbo "Beebo". Sam thinks this is very funny and repeats "Beebo". Frodo, encouraged by Sam thinking this is funny, doubles down the joke with "Beebo Bongos". Then Merry jumps in with "Blorbo Bagpipes". By this point, messages are coming in within the same minute, and then the rest of the chaos unfolds. X-D

Anyway, thanks for giving me an excuse to ramble about this comic! I had a lot of fun drawing it and I'm delighted to share the Deep Lore LOL

i dont think sirius wanted snape dead in fifth year.

i think he thought it was all a great game. to him, full moons were a night he could choose to become a great big dog and have fun and it was all under his own control. he was too young and naive and just self centered to think about what it was like from remus's perspective, no idea what it was like to be a werewolf without any choice.

both boys knew what it was like to hate themselves, but in very different ways.

i think there was a huge amount of showing off when he let slip to snape how to get to the whomping willow. he had a secret that he had kept for so long. he'd performed seriously difficult magic at a really young age to become an animagi and he hadn't told a SOUL. for someone like sirius that was really HARD to keep in and not blab about what they'd done.

he was brought up with a callous mother who pulled threats just like that all the time when sirius irritated her. walburga 'oh go on, try me, i have the darkest fucking magic at my disposal and you just fuck around and find out by pushing my buttons, im not afraid to use it on you' black. he was parroting her when snape irritated him. sirius would rather die than realise he has any trace of her in his blood.

the second sirius realised the seriousness and impact the prank had on remus he was remorseful beyond belief. (and maybe passively suicidal a little lbh). that only happened once remus set that boundary and distanced himself for a bit though, and the consequences hit. once the reality kicked in and he'd realise that if remus had killed snape then remus could have been killed too. he just hadn't stopped to think that far. all he thought about was the here and now, not the future. he didn't often think about the future. because thinking about the here and now was the only way he could survive and cope in grimmauld place. he couldnt imagine a future, so why think about it? he'd deal with the consequences later. act first, think later is how he survived to 16.

Question 1:

Green or Purple?

YC: “I don’t know… I’m having a hard time imagining purple on Terra. Maybe it clashes too much with his blue eyes or something? What kind of purple? I could see him in a dark green polo or some bright green board shorts”.

Question 2:

Strawberry or Vanilla?

YC: “Vanilla definitely. The visualization of Strawberry just doesn’t seem to fit Terra. If not masculine, vanilla can be seen as a neutral flavor, which could also equate to the non-bias ie. default trust that Terra holds for people”.

Question 3:

Beach or Desert?

YC: “On first thought, I’d say desert as that’s solely a land mass, and a larger one, and that’s basically what Terra’s name derives itself from. But after watching his history on Day 3, I have become aware that the desert is where his friends got killed or at least very badly injured, so I’d say that Terra must hate that place now. Therefore? Beach. I seem to remember Terra also had a positive event [Riku] happen on a beach”.

Question 4:

Aqua or Ven?

YC: “Wha!? Don’t make me choose between his friends! I don’t even know them properly. I mean knowing Terra, he’d choose them both! But if I had to play the game, I’d say Ven… It just seems like he and Aqua have too many confrontations from time to time to override any sort of calm in their relationship. Terra and Aqua are like polar opposites on the same team as it were”.

Question 5:

Pen or Pencil?

YC: “Seeing as though Terra felt like he’s made so many mistakes in his life? Definitely pencil because you can erase it and start over again. Like Pen is for someone really confident in themselves or that they know what they’re doing. Terra either lacked confidence in himself or in the events that were transpiring around him. I’m thinking, according to Karla’s essay, what if Terra navigated through BBS with a pencil and got to re-write a section of his story in the form of KH3 as it were?”.

Question 6:

Glass or Metal?

YC: “At first I would choose metal; but after reading Karla’s essay on Day 3, there are more reasons now as to why I would choose glass. Glass is easily more breakable, but it’s transparent meaning you can see through it. Terra got into all that trouble with people because he couldn’t see through them and they had a very sturdy and foreboding presence (ie. metal). Also Terra’s physical build reminds me more of metal, but in how much he cares for his friends and how big but vulnerable his heart is when he gets taken advantage of or hurt, it’s glass”.

Question 7:

Pizza or Pasta?

YC: “I don’t see Terra as one to eat too many carbs, but I could be wrong. It depends on what there’s more of in Japan and it’s probably like China; so pasta. Like it’s in noodle dishes and soups, whereas bread in Asia is not a big thing. Besides, for that guy’s likely appetite, you could also have noodles with a steak on top”.

Question 8:

Cats or Dogs?

YC: “Despite Terra’s delicate heart, he’s physically rough. Normally you’d think cats are delicate, but dogs tend to be more affectionate or attention seeking whereas they’re more lean and muscly in physical build, and can get quite rabid when attacking or playing with something. I could just see Terra with a dog as well, playing with it and all”.

Question 9:

Cold or Hot?

YC: “Just like me he trains a lot. When it’s too hot, you have to stop doing that or you could get too hot and even have heatstroke. Also due to Terra’s muscle mass, he’d likely get hot anyway even if he wasn’t doing anything too strenuous. Whereas in the cold, you can train all you want, and you can also put on as many layers as you like. I mean if he wanted to, he could also cuddle up to his friends in cold weather, otherwise you’d just make everyone hot”.

Question 10:

Kingdom Hearts 2 or Kingdom Hearts CoM?

YC: “What even are those games? Oh wait, there’s a description of them in Karla’s files (dreamer records). So these are both common games that Terra doesn’t have a significant appearance in. I don’t really know what he would do so much in KH2 except for that bit where he did try to maul Sora with his armor suit in the same place that he lost his friends, but that isn’t considered the main game. Whereas in KH CoM, I could see his spirit trying to guide Riku through all the decisions that he had to make in Castle Oblivion, even perhaps being somewhat more effective than Mickey in that state of affairs. Also, it could have been interesting if Terra had met Namine for the first time, vicariously through Riku’s encounter in KH-CoM. I mean come to think of it now, shouldn’t Terra have had the privilege to travel vicariously through Riku if Riku had received his powers and therefore a part of him? My brain is buzzing with ideas now”.

Bonus:

Get It Together or Move It?

YC: “Definitely Move It. Like Terra’s the one to hold a Wii-mote or a Switch-con and ‘show you how it’s done’. It's, kinda funny I guess? Now that I think about it, John's type of humor is a mix between absurdist and uncanniness. It reminds of an outdoors exhibit I saw years ago in a park. Not only was it a kindness, it was a skill she should be developing as the future Queen of Novoselic. Yet as she watched his expression change as he spoke of Kyoko Kirigiri, her heart went out to him. She couldn't imagine it was easy, feeling as if he were living in his senpai's shadow. Sonia pursed her lips, thinking of the right words to say: as often as she got popular phrases wrong, she didn't want to mess up this time in front of Shuichi.

"It is a former American president, I believe, who first said 'comparison is the thief of joy,'" She finally offered, giving him a small smile. She wanted to sigh in relief: that sounded right, but letting him in on how hard she'd needed to work at translating the phrase correctly in her head was not something she wanted to be congratulated upon. "It is not wrong to look to Kirigiri-san to motivate you, but do not let a constant comparison of her skills and successes put a damper on your own. You may be here under the same talent, Saihara-san, but your gifts are unique. Do not lose sight of that, and what you have to offer the world."

At least her idea had gone over well. All he needed was to show how he stood out. Admittedly, her proposition was more commonly found in the pages of a book than in real life, but surely many police stations encountered troublesome theft cases in need of solving. It is from his Arsene Lupin novels that I got the idea, and of course, the character's grandson Lupin the Third. Both are popular in Novoselic! I like the idea of a Gentleman Thief, as well as dedicated detectives in Interpol trying to catch him. Perhaps you may join Interpol one day, Saihara-san."

It was one option, and she believed in him that much that he would stand out amongst his contemporaries and be allowed to work international cases of great importance. Maybe that was a better use of time, she thought, as she closed the planning notebook that Miss Yukizome had advised all Class 77 students use to keep track of their mentee's progress. Sometimes it wasn't the exact steps he needed to complete: maybe they just needed to dream a little. Remind themselves why they accepted the role of Ultimate in the first place. "That is only one option, of course: I am sure you will choose the right path for you. And you can learn from my class's missteps, too: but yes, one of Kimura-san's elixirs turned out to be responsible for Gundham's dog becoming giant!" She laughed, the dog and the gym blowing up both being fond memories for her. Something Shuichi, it seemed, could not understand.

It was likely a difficult pill to swallow, eschewing her luxurious private school in Novoselic, where lunch was designed by a Michelin-starred chef and students had a variety of extracurricular activities at their disposal, in favor of traveling half a world away to Hope's Peak. But she wouldn't have traded it for the world. "They are my beloved friends. We all see each other, understand each other, for who we are and not what our talents are. Mostly," She paused. She wanted to believe that was true for all of her classmates but Kazuichi Souda often gave her reason to second-guess it. His worn-out praises of her still encompassed what he'd been espousing since their first year: that she was the pinnacle of beauty, grace, and perfection, exactly what a princess should be. Or at least the vision of a princess he'd conjured in his head from a variety of unreliable sources.

"Life is unpredictable at times here, but I embrace it," She murmured. "I shall miss it when it is gone. But! In the meantime, I endeavor to spend every moment relishing in a normal life. With normal places to 'hang out,' like cafes and shops! It is exhilarating you know, to order a hot drink and sit in a corner with your computer and a book and no one finds reason to gawk at you."

"Ah..." When Sonia apologizes to him, Shuichi gives a shake of his head. "...You have nothing to apologize for, Sonia-senpai. You're acting as my mentor, you're supposed to be completely honest with me." He felt bad, giving her the impression he was discouraged by her words. It usually did sting a bit when he was compared to Kyouko, but he knew Sonia did so with good intentions, and he knows she's right. If he couldn't impress then on the same level that his senpai did, then he would fail his exams for sure.. "...I... It's fine. It's only expected, since I am also an Ultimate Detective. I'm not sure how often this school recruits two people under the same title, but I imagine you have to be extremely lucky to have such a thing happen. So... they're going to be expect a lot out of me. I can't... disappoint them. I especially don't want to disappoint Kyouko-senpai, who has always been so kind enough to encourage me." Not that he could deny that the pressure could be overwhelming at times... but it only pushes him to continue to do his best. He promised himself that he would grow to become the kind of detective he could be proud of. "No, you haven't done anything bad. I want to become as skilled and great as Kyouko-senpai. So your suggestion to take on a case great enough that'll impress them greatly, helps very much."

"Oh...?" He perks up in curiosity at her new proposal. "Unsolved cases of theft, huh.... you know, that's not a bad idea at all. I have heard of such cases before, where an item of immense significance has yet to be recovered... Plus, while not at a grand scale, I have taken on the occasional theft case. I'd like to think... I could tackle a major one." Her other idea of creating investigation or crime solving methods, was intriguing, too. The thought of being able to help veteran detectives with his intuitive skills and helpful ideas to solve such cases... it was practically one of his dreams. "Y-You think so...?" A shy smile lights up on his face. Having such a significant impact like that... even he would be very proud of himself. "Y... Yeah! I like that idea, too! If I could accomplish such a feat, and impress the staff testing me: then it'll really feel like I've grown. Thank you, Sonia-senpai: if... no: when I do pass, I definitely have you to thank for it!"

He could feel a newfound wave of determination pump through him. Sonia was trying her best to give him the kind of advice that'll make him soar with flying colors on the exams; it was why he couldn't allow himself to look as if he didn't believe in himself. He has to prove... that the school made the right choice in choosing him as a second Ultimate Detective. That, he's going to say with utmost confidence.

"O-Oh my god... well, that makes me even more relieved that no one got hurt. I'm..sure he got over it. I hope..." And just when he thought that was crazy enough, now he's hearing about some weird elixir turning Gundam's dog into a giant! "An elixir was able to do that to a dog?! I've grown accustomed to the fact that this school is not normal, but even this is too much for my mind to handle. How have you not gone crazy, yet?" Though with casually she recalls all this, maybe Sonia just was not fazes from the insanity that occurs in this school, anymore. Going three years to this school without losing your mind, sounded like an accomplishment in itself... "I-I would be shocked if they didn't postpone it. Am I going to have to worry about those kinds of things, now...? And, Komaeda-senpai... he scares me. I can only wonder what kind of advice he's giving to whoever he has. I'm very worried for them... " He's finding himself more and more thankful that he did not get him as his mentor...

He isn't actively trying for one and wouldn't mind if he didn't have one. What can I say? Our man's a free spirit and probably wouldn't want to deal with the added responsibility of a child,with him being a jujutsu sorcerer and all. But peradventure the contraceptives fail and you find yourself pregnant,he won't force you to abort it if you don't want to. He'd leave you to make whatever decision you want to make concerning the pregnancy. If you do decide to keep it,then you can guarantee that he'd be with you every step of the way and he in turn discovers he's actually a really good dad and falls in love with the child right from the moment they're born.

Nanami: Neutral

It's kind of difficult to figure out if he wants one or not. He kind of thinks he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't(he sees the pros and cons of having one and how they both weigh up). If you don't want one however then he'd let sleeping dogs lie. But if you really want one then he wouldn't be opposed to it. Family man Nanami would definitely be a sight to see,with him holding his hand in yours and his kid carried in his other hand as you all take a casual Sunday stroll.

Sukuna: probably not

I genuinely think this man absolutely doesn't want kids. Did you hear what he said in that first episode he was shown." Where are the women and children?". The mere fact that he even has a partner is inconceivable enough but a child is pushing it. What he does to children,I don't know. I can only imagine he probably eats them or something. I headcanon him as someone who thinks children are bratty and can't stand being around them for five minutes.Don't even mention it to him and do be cautious and use contraceptives. If you do find yourself pregnant then he'd be very displeased(assuming a cursed spirit can reproduce). If he loves you enough though,he'd let you keep it if you want to but wouldn't take part in raising it.If the kid maybe developed strong curse abilities then he might show some interest in the kid,otherwise he won't really be invested in their lives.

Choso: Most likely

Despite his seemingly aloof appearance ,he loved and cared for his brothers very dearly so I assume he wouldn't mind having a child of his own. I'm not sure whether he's capable of reproducing or not but if he can't,he'd probably be open to adopt.But of course,he'd discuss this with you first. He's not making any decision like that without telling you first. Not much was shown about his character in the anime but I'm sure he'd make a really good father

Getou : Definitely

I see him as someone who'd want a family of his own somewhere along the line maybe as soon as he has accomplished his goals. Again,I'm not too solid about his true intentions or his personality but he's clearly not on the good side(for now at least). But nevertheless, I think deep down if he finds someone he really loves,he'd want kids with them. He seems to be the kind of person that would be caring to people he genuinely cares about and would most likely make a good dad.

i joke a lot about vio's beef with hylia in my fics, but I can't understate how weirdly profound i find his character from several analytical perspectives.

even though vio voluntarily reforms the hero at the end of the manga, i think it's fair to say that he's depicted as the link most interested in developing and maintaining an individual sense of self. he's not named "purple," but "vio" (although admittedly he doesn't come up with that); he considers himself an outcast amongst the three and chooses to distance himself from them; and even though he's Doing The Right Thing Secretly, he has a weirdly good time during his villain era, and a bad time accepting the fact that he will, eventually, have to betray shadow and rejoin the others. he wants to help his friends and save the world, but at the end of that path is his own inevitable convergence back into the hero. he won't be vio anymore, and while he is still part of the hero, the things he's done on his own become kind of meaningless.

and of course in the manga he reforms the hero, but when you line that choice up with everything we learn about him in the time we get to know him, it does feel a little... off. like maybe, if given the choice, this isn't exactly the story the authors would have liked to tell. and i don't blame them, because being tasked with creating four compelling characters and then essentially killing them off and framing that as a good thing sounds pretty difficult to do. and akira himekawa could have totally phoned it in, and written a fun but shallow story so it feels right concluding the way it does, but for some reason they just kind of... didn't?

from what i know, the the four's personalities aren't very fleshed out at all in the game. there isn't a plot where vio betrays the others, right? i'm pretty sure? but for some reason, akira himekawa decided to take the story in this direction, while still needing to end by restoring the world and link to normal. and honestly, because of the things they chose to do with the story, that ending feels super weird. and i think most of that weirdness is due to vio being written the way he is.

so when i write fic with vio, i really don't think it's out of character for him to kind of struggle with hylia herself, and the fate she's created for him. because the manga itself, at least in my reading, seems to struggle with vio. and it's really freaking cool to analyze and expand upon this, and maybe i am just projecting or imagining things that aren't there, but like... he's one of two fan favorites for a reason, right? in a way vio almost transcends the story he's in, just like shadow does by basically being himekawa's oc. they both feel like they were placed into a world and plot that's not quite meant for them, and that's part of why they're so compelling.

the other analytical perspective i want to touch on is less connected to authorial intent, but still very interesting to me personally. because ships aside, if you view vio as gay, so many things start to make sense about the way he is written. the way he outcasts himself from the others by instinct, the way he accidentally finds belonging with someone else who's "different," his inner turmoil about betraying shadow, and the genuinely good time he seems to have during much of his villain era, completely diverging from anything anyone would have expected from him. there's a reason my first post about the manga was just, like, the homophobic dog meme. i could point out dozens of lines or panels involving vio that evoked the exact "i know what you are" energy those memes represent.

so vio being constantly being at odds with fate, which i usually just frame as hylia, makes so much sense to me from a queer perspective. as a gay person it's frankly cathartic to write him grappling with his desire to stay who he is and be with shadow, versus sacrificing his individuality and their unique connection. and i don't even have religious trauma!! view it as ship or not, but i find vio's entire arc to be so damn queer, gay, whatever, and WOW the implications of that are fascinating.

sorry this is a tangent with no clear conclusion, but just... vio having beef with god makes all the sense in the world to me, and writing fic with that theme scratches an itch i didn't even know i had. i expected to like shadow when i picked up the manga, but did not at all expect vio to be a character who exists, especially not in a story like this. if anything, he serves as inspiration for characters and stories i'd like to write in the future. it's so cool. art is so cool

I probably worded that really weirdly, but I saw that you love Saeran too, so I had to ask! :)

Well, it's complicated. We've got a lot of variants of this character that exist so when someone says they like Saeran, that can mean a lot of things. I mean, look at how many of them you have to choose from in the canon: Unknown, SE Saeran, Ray, Suit Saeran, VAE Ray, and GE Saeran. I love Saeran Choi fully and that means that I have a lotta love and care in my heart for every single one of them. So, it would be so much easier for me to say, "Hey, I like them all equally!" but that's not the case.

I like them for different reasons so they fall in different areas as far as my liking them goes. So, to compare them in a ranking wouldn't do a lot of good since there's no need to rank them over each other when they provide a different sense of comfort to me when I need to have it the most. I can't say I prefer one over the other when I like all of the Saerans' because of that. One might have a stronger appeal today to me, but it could be an entirely different one tomorrow! I hope that is something that makes sense.

Unknown was the one who initially grabbed my eye in 2016. I got the Bad Ending in the prologue and I knew I needed to know more about him. I wasn't sure if he would have content that I could interact with as far as a romanceable route went because it seemed like he was either going to be a secret route or a villain without one.

So, the way I was playing the game back then was trying to do whatever it took to learn information about him; That meant I had to play every route in the game to be able to piece together information about him. So, I had to do all five routes to be able to learn everything about him. It was difficult to be able to do that so I was thriving back then with any chance I could interact with him. Unknown was just so interesting to me as a character.

It's very easy to write him off as just a typical villain character when you’re playing the game at the start with Zen, Yoosung, and Jaehee. You could choose to ignore him and simply engage with the rest of the RFA if you want.

But, by the time you get to Jumin and Seven, you can’t ignore him. You have to admit he is important and integral to the plot. Watching that play out from the very beginning of not knowing anything about him to be able to come to understand that his journey is similar to yours. You're pulled into something against your will and you have no choice but to run with it. 

The more that I was able to learn about him, the more I felt like I could see myself in him. I've been through similar unfortunate circumstances just like Saeran. When it comes to Unknown, he feels like a caged dog. He's been pushed to a point where the only way that he can react to things is through anger and lashing out. People have stolen his belief in hopes and dreams.

The only thing that he's allowed to believe in is destruction. He has been robbed of his consent over and over and over and over again to the brink of madness. It's easy to identify with him when it comes to that regard. If you've ever felt a palpable sense of anger because you were mistreated, you can see a lot of your hurt in Unknown.

A lot of the people I know who like Unknown the most identify with that and want to be told it's okay to be pissed that you were wronged. When I think about his character I think about wanting to be okay with anger even if anger feels like it's terrifying sometimes. It feels like when you imagine him in a comfort setting that it's a safe place to explore those feelings.

SE Saeran is also in that same boat.

He was pushed to the brink. At the end of his journey, he is still forced to do things whether he likes them or not. He was forced into recovery by others. The hospital staff treated him like shit and a problem… when all he needed was a change in his health program and more support. There was so much done wrong to him after Mint Eye, I swear.

I'm not always happy with the choices that his brother made to take him out of the hospital but it was the only way to keep Saeran alive. I can't be angry with his brother for doing what he knew was going to save his life. Saeran wouldn't even have the choice to figure out what kind of life he would want if their father figured out where they were. He did what he had to do. 

He could have either left his brother in the hospital where the situation was becoming toxic by the minute and left him at risk of being discovered by their father, or he could’ve taken him into the bunker for safety until he could find him an actual professional who could tend to his needs properly later. Saeyoung did the best he could there, but even that wasn’t great. It was a realistic response but it's a hard one to stomach. 

It's just like when he was forced into living with V and Rika. It's just like how his brother made a decision without talking to him to join the agency. He has continually been robbed of his consent over and over and over again. Everybody in his life has made decisions for him and he has never been allowed to make one once. It continues to this day because he is forced to live with his brother whether he likes it or not. It still feels like being caged. 

He has more control than he did in the past but there is still so much that he is not able to do for his own safety. He's not really free. He has to stay in the bunker. His brother has to stay in the bunker in some regard. Their father is still out there. He has more mobility than he did in the past but he still does not have all of the freedom in the world that he dreamed of. At the very least, he still has the sky. 

I relate to that. I know a lot of people that like this Saeran relate to that. They know what it feels like to have been robbed of power and they want somebody who can stand by them and understand what that feels like firsthand without being overwhelmed. You don't want to be judged. You just want someone to sit next to you and be with you in peace and quiet.

I will admit that the name of this blog is about Ray. If you told me that I had to stack all of them on top of each other to figure out who would be on top, he tends to be the one that wins out most days as far as comfort scenarios go. I care about all of them but I find that I relate the most on a personal level to Ray. He's a character that is very near and dear to my heart and I think he'll always be that way no matter what happens in life. He's a complicated character that tends to get mischaracterized a lot by folks who assume he’s one way and not another. 

He is a character who is riddled with faults and complex feelings. On the one hand, he can be really determined and Brazen. He can make himself work for hours on end without stopping because he has a goal in sight that needs to be done. He won't let himself stop because it has to be finished. He is a man that is searching for praise and comfort, and it's just unfortunate that he's looking in all the wrong places.

He works hard because he wants to be given even the smallest amount of praise. It's not a surprise that he thrives on the smallest of compliments from somebody. He is starved for affection because he is given nothing.

He has the tendency to become lost in Daydreams because that's the only place that he has control of in his life. He becomes infatuated with things easily and sometimes that gets him carried away and it hurts him. He'll become obsessed with a fantasy that he has and if it doesn't work out, it will destroy him.

He wants to have good things in his life but he doesn't know how to get them. He doesn't know how to fight for them. All he knows is he's never going to be good enough until he proves himself to Rika. But he's never going to prove himself to somebody when the person he is aiming towards is just going to keep stringing him along like a fish chasing a lure.

It's easy to see myself in his actions. Both the good ones and the bad ones. When I look at his character, it helps me to see that I can have good things and I don't need to be afraid of them. I don't need to let my insecurities run rampant and consume me. Because, if it wasn't for the fact that Rika caught him in the act of shifting his view, he might’ve left Mint Eye with us.

He was already going against the rules over and over again. He made a fake Elixir. He lied to that woman. He continually went out of his way to make sure that you were not hurting and suffering like him. It would only have been a matter of time before he realized that that place wasn't sustainable for you or him. I feel like he would have risked everything to protect the player if need be. Sure, it is a situation that would’ve been messy... but I know him and I know what he’d do for the player. You mean more to him than Rika, as scared as he is to admit it.

Suit Saeran… Do you know what it feels like to have been told that you need to be strong in a specific way to survive? Do you know what it feels like to be compromised by the realization that that strength isn't actually what's good for you? If you put yourself in his shoes, you will find the most tortured individual that you can imagine.

If anybody in this world is feeling what the endless struggle feels like, it's actually him. His endless struggle is to feel like he has to be the strongest to survive. He says so himself. If he is not strong enough to do what needs to be done, then he'll be destroyed. He doesn't know what he wants out of life or who he wants to be, the only thing he knows is that he needs to be stronger, or else he'll never get to do anything else. 

He has been taught to believe that the only way to survive is to be so maliciously cruel that nobody could ever come and hurt you ever again.

It can be a self-defense mechanism that a lot of people feel. It's not healthy and it doesn't do you good in the long run, but it makes sense why people feel that they have to back that way to protect themselves. There is no excuse for his actions or any of the bad actions that any Saeran takes. But I feel like if you demonize it without thinking about why this is the way that it is, you may not be able to understand more about the pain.

You don't have to forgive him or be okay with any of the choices that he made. But, for me, personally, when I interact with him, I see somebody that has been pushed into believing that he has to survive no matter what. I see somebody who is trying to be strong in the wrong way to protect the people that he cares about. The people he can't admit he cares about. If he admits any weakness, then it will be used against him.

That was proven by Ray being tortured for kissing you.

When it comes to the people who like him, the people that genuinely like him and understand him, they’re looking for comfort. They're looking for somebody that has been tortured just as much as they have and maybe they've done things in the past that they're not proud of. Or maybe they happen to be looking for a character who is struggling in the middle of that moment of anger and they need to have something that says that these feelings can happen. Maybe they need validation and knowing that they're in the middle of the worst feeling ever. 

Maybe they need to see a character that can admit their mistakes and be willing to make them right in the end. Maybe they need to know that it's okay to start over again even if you messed up. You might not be able to get back what you lost, but you can start over again... and again.. and again. It’s okay. Even if you don't believe that it's possible. That is often what I need to hear. That it's okay to get up after I fall. 

GE Saeran is liberation. He is the power of looking your demons in the eye and choosing to be stronger than them. He chooses to be strong by deciding to not give in to their game. All of the villains in his life have always weaponized anger and threat to silence him and push him down. It would be easy for him to go back to that to face off against them, but he chooses not to do that.

He chooses to live in a way that is healthy and better for him. He chooses to let go of anger as a weapon. He still has it inside of him, but he chooses to push the anger down and choose what is right for him. It is the most admirable thing to see. 

He knows what it feels like to be angry. He knows what it feels like to weaponize that anger against other people. He knows what it feels like to think that you are strong because you are mighty and terrify everybody.

But, you know what he learned in the midst of weaponizing anger?

He saw you and that changed everything.

He saw you look anger right in the face and choose to never return it. He can remember his actions as Suit Saeran. He can remember doing and saying things that he will be haunted by for the rest of his life. Even though you have forgiven him, he doesn't have it in him to forgive himself until he can face his demons.

That is partially why he chooses to face his father, V, and Rika firsthand. He knew that the only way he was going to be able to learn how to forgive himself after everything that he did was to process his trauma and forgive those people that hurt him first. He became angry and consumed by that anger because of the actions of those people. He chose to forgive so he could learn how to forgive himself for hurting you in the first place. If he could forgive those people, he could forgive himself.

I know there are a lot of people who do not agree with his actions. I know there are a lot of people who are upset with him for choosing to do that. But, you shouldn't be upset with him for choosing what's right for him and his healing Journey. His after ending is about your choice and your decision to do what is right for you. You can choose to do anything you want for your journey and nobody should judge you for it. Nobody should judge you for choosing what you need to do to feel like you are in the process of being happier and freer from the trauma that you have suffered. 

The point of that after ending was to tell you that nobody can decide what you are allowed to feel about your trauma. You are allowed to feel your way and somebody else can feel another way. You are justified in yours and they are justified in theirs. That was the healthiest thing that the game could have done in that regard.

If you are angry, you are allowed to be angry. You are allowed to hold on to something and never forgive people if that is what you choose. As long as you don't hurt yourself or other people with that anger, it's fine. If you want to forgive and decide what that means for yourself, you can choose that. If that's what you want, take that path. Don't let anybody tell you otherwise. 

When it comes to GE Saeran, the love for him is like… It's like knowing that you're going to be okay. It's like seeing somebody who struggled and suffered for so long finally get the chance to be happy. I feel like seeing him reach that conclusion for himself means that we are all capable of getting there in our own way. We are allowed to pave the future in a way that makes sense for us. I know that everybody that likes him the most knows that it's going to be okay. He'll always be with us. He'll be with us just like we were there for him. I think that's a comfort. It's definitely a comfort for me.

So, to make the long of the short of it, there's a reason to like each individual one in your own way. They mean something different to everybody so it's interesting to figure out who somebody places on top over the others for whatever reason they see fit. We all find comfort in different ways and it's so great that we all get to feel all of these things about Saeran.

I am so grateful for him. He might just be a fictional character but fictional characters mean everything to so many people. They inspire us and drive us to create and feel things. I feel like we become better people because of the interactions that we have with characters in media like this. They teach us something and I certainly will not forget the things that I have been taught by this character.

Convincing Bruno to actually get a tattoo with you would be no small feat. It’s not that he doesn’t want one ever, he just isn’t sure if he wants one now, so he chooses to go to the tattoo parlor with you as moral support instead. He voices his trepidations about you getting one, worrying that you’ll be in a lot of pain, but would never try to outright stop you. If you’re ready for it, then so is he, and he’ll be there to hold your hand the whole time. He’s surprised when it doesn’t seem to affect you as much as you were both expecting, and doesn’t hesitate to tell you how proud he is of you, dropping a kiss to your hairline and squeezing your hand when it’s all over.

I can’t picture Giorno being super into the whole tattoo scene, but again, I don’t think he’d be entirely opposed to it either. When you tell him you’re getting one, he’s completely supportive and promises that he has a hand to hold and some painkillers to take when you need them. At the shop, you keep up a conversation with him and your tattoo artist the whole time, smiling all the while, and Giorno is beyond proud of you. He’s heard how difficult the process can be for some and he’s glad that doesn’t seem to be the case for you, despite both of your initial worries. When you finish up, he grabs you by the hand and treats you to a nice meal.

I feel like Abbacchio has always wanted one, but has never really had a reason to actually follow through with it. With you in his life, so eager to get your own done, he’s more than happy to go along with you and finally get what he’s been thinking about. On the day of your appointments, he’s sure he’ll be fine with the pain, but he’s worried you may not be able to do the same. He’d never tell you that though, he simply assures you it’ll be fine and moves on. So it’s a huge shock to him so see you so... okay during the process. He smirks at the sight and feels pride start to bloom in his chest. He pulls you into a sweet kiss afterwards, holding himself back from tracing his fingers over the freshly-tattooed area.

Mista, sweet, innocent Mista, would talk a big game before going in to get a tattoo with you. He’s tough, he tells you the morning of the appointment, if anyone was going to handle the process well, it’d be him. Like the valiant and loving boyfriend he is, he’ll be there to hold your hand the whole time. When it comes time for him to get his tattoo though, his eyes start to water in minutes, looking at you with big, puppy dog eyes as he whines about how much it hurts. Throughout the whole process, he’s constantly asking you how you’re so unfazed by it, a hint of jealousy and disbelief in his tone. As soon as it’s over, he takes a huge, gulping breath and pulls you in for a hug, ranting about how you owe him ice cream after what he just went through.

Narancia would be excitable, to say the least. He doesn’t like needles, but he’s thrilled at the idea of getting a tattoo with his lovely significant other. He’s bouncing in his seat on the ride over and in the waiting area, slapping his hand against your knee and talking a mile a minute as he does. He winces and complains through the process of getting his tattoo, but is surprised to see you acting relatively unfazed. When you tell him it doesn’t hurt as badly as you’d thought it would, he smiles and calls you a badass, proudly telling the tattoo artist about how cool you are. He’s a sweetheart and your biggest fan, and his words leave you even more excited about your new tattoo.

Fugo doesn’t strike me as someone who would enjoy tattoos at all. Don’t get me wrong, he would be more than supportive of you getting one, especially if you were really excited about it, but I can’t picture him getting one himself. That being said, he’d be at your side throughout the entire process - helping you come up with ideas, going to appointments with you, and being there to hold your hand on the day you get it. He watches in confusion as you hardly wince during the process, complaining of little more than slight discomfort as time goes on. Going into it, you’d both figured you’d be a wreck (you never did handle pain very well), but seeing you so... comfortable puts him at ease too. When all is said and done, he helps you to care for the tattoo to make sure it heals properly.

what do you think would make bakugou's feelings change from a stranger to a lover, if their interactions were small and few in between? what do you think would make bakugou sad?

oh, wow — what questions !! thank you for asking, and buckle up LOL

i want to, of course, preface this all by saying these are my own interpretations and opinions based on how i choose to view bakugou's character:

personally, i have a really difficult time writing strangers to lovers for bkg (personally; i've read certain fics before and had no issues accepting the course of the relationship !) bc i think — and i'm assuming we're talking about adult man bkg, considering this is a romantic situation — at some point in time, he is going to completely understand how others see him, why they see him the way they do. a very large portion of his personality stems from how he was raised, the way he was treated as a child, and even if he eventually knows he's a little obtuse, i think that by then that's just bakugou. it's not going anywhere. it might soften and grow, but he'll never have a different baseline.

and so i view katsuki, in that regard, to be very careful about who he reveals himself to. he knows how he is, how people see him, and he's been met with either hesitation or fear or fury from, like, everyone, and so i find it difficult to imagine him going from strangers to lovers with someone in that regard, because i think he would need trust more than anything in order to feel comfortable exploring any romantic aspect of himself. i view bakugou as someone very nervous and unsure about affection, and so in order to allow himself to show that and receive that from someone, it would take time with him. i think bakugou is a quiet, slooooow burn kind of guy, who would move on from friends to lovers ultimately.

!! BUT !!

i also think it can heavily depend on where bakugou is at in his life at the time this meeting and such interactions take place. again, bc i think bakugou would have to feel comfortable enough to try to engage in a more-than-friendly relationship, it would have to be entirely something he is choosing willingly. he would have to go in eyes wide open and say, this is something that i want to pursue, this is something i am choosing to trust and let myself fall into, and i think it's entirely possible that he could have that desire as an adult.

i actually have a little drabble thing stored away in my drafts that's like, bakugou as someone that actively tries to date and find a partner, and it's the funniest thing to me LOL bc the first image that comes to mind is him in a tie at some speed dating thing and he's just — so uncomfortable lmao and i do not think he would ever do something like that, it's just funny to picture. but — on that note — i don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that one day katsuki decides that he wants to find someone, and so i think if he walked into it willingly, and found someone that seemed trustworthy and understanding, he could definitely tell himself, i don't care, i'm not afraid to do this shit, even if he very much is so.

of course, i also think that certain circumstances can always bring strangers together and i think there's something beautiful in even like the little things; the person who always sits across from you on the bus or is always walking their dog on sunday mornings or who lives in your apartment complex and always comments about the weather whenever you meet in the mail room. i could just be clingy LOL but i like the familiarity of a consistent stranger, if that makes sense, and moving out of that bubble to expand that relationship is like a choice you can't take back. and you have your life or death situations, as well. again, maybe i'm clingy, but — assuming we're talking about pro-hero bakugou here — i would never be able to look at the man that saved my life the same again. i would see him on tv and just associate safety with him, or something. section him off into a different category of stranger that i would trust with my life, bc he's saved it already.

anyway. back to bakugou LOL all this to say: i think it depends on what bakugou wants and what he'll allow in a short amount of time, first and foremost, and i think it depends on the weight given to those small interactions. say, katsuki is checked over by the same paramedic after every fight, and he finds comfort in the fact that this person cares about his well-being, or he runs into the same person at the meat market when he's preparing to cook a large meal, and they can always discuss different marinades or choice cuts. i think he would have to see something in them that would make him want to trust that person, in those far and few interactions, before offering himself up for the taking.

and — whew boy, sad bakugou ? i'll admit, it's a little hard for me to imagine things that might make him sad and sad alone bc, obviously, i imagine bakugou runs everything through an angry blender before he can swallow it down to process any other way.

i think there are very simple things that make him sad, like his heroes aging and getting old — all might, aizawa, his dad, jeanist — losing his friends or the few people he's ever felt close to. people in his life as a pro-hero that he couldn't save. i think he'll always hold guilt about what happened at kamino with all might, how he treated people when he was younger, how he treated izuku; i think reflecting on all these things would make him sad because they are almost all things out of his control. he can't go back and be a nicer kid, he can't go back and not get dynamight-napped by the league, he can't make his heroes any younger, and someone like katsuki is always making the things he wants a reality, that's just what he does, and this isn't something he can attain. so i think that would upset him. consistently. every time he thinks about it, even.

idk if you were going this route at all, but from a romantic perspective — oh, lord, i will sit on this hill until i die: not having a partner would slowly break his heart. every night he'll come home to his nice house and his material things and maybe even his number one ranking and the lights will be off and it will be empty, and as someone that strives to be the best in everything, he would see his lack of a love life as a giant failure. he's not good enough, not patient enough, not kind enough. i have a lot of opinions about katsuki being insecure in this particular regard; not about — again — things he can physically attain or work towards or hold in his hands, no, he's sure of himself there, completely confident, but these softer things. he can't make someone love him, no matter how strong or fast or good he is, that's something they have to choose to do (which reroutes back to my earlier point, about him needing to have that trust that they will choose him again and again), and i think the longer he goes without someone or the more he tries and it doesn't work out, it would really weigh on him as a person.

this is another twisted kind of road, but i think he would obviously have a lot of trauma about all that he's had to go through in his life. let's just — ignore the manga right now LOL bc that's a whole different can of worms — but i think, you know, again, kamino, getting kidnapped, even the sludge villain in the beginning, and just everything else that he has to endure as a child fucking soldier. it's more fear than just explicit sadness, but obviously these things can lead towards depression and the like, so i include those things as well.
